Silver Springs State Park is a beautiful place to visit, with crystal clear water and interesting wildlife. There are trails and a museum, as well as rental cabins and canoes for those who want to explore the park on their own.
Beautiful and only $2 entry fee. Wish CA would provide it's residents such value.
Open and not crowded. Great to paddle around or take a hike. Clean restrooms and great staff. Didn't see a manatee but we were a little late.

Silver springs is absolutely beautiful. Went there for the first time for our 6 year anniversary. The glass bottom tour was amazing. It was so cool seeing all the different springs like that. The river is so crystal clear it's amazing. Definitely recommend to any first timers. It was very worth it and a truly unique experience. Definitely plan on going back when it's cooler to kayak!

What a fantastic place to just forget about your troubles. We rented kayaks for two hours and started at 9am. I recommend this time or earlier if you don't like crowds or are new to kayaking. We also did the boat tour, which was awesome, and our captain was very friendly. Don't forget to tip them. 😉 They are going through some renovations which are expected to be completed in the fall so no gift shops or Cafe. You will not be disappointed going here.

Our kayak trip was amazing! We did the 2 hour float. The water is crystal clear, and pictures do not do it justice. The staff was super friendly and well organized. We showed up a little early for our reservations, and they let us go a little early. The clear kayaks we reserved were out for repairs unfortunately. They refunded us the difference and apologized for them not being available. We still had a ton of fun! Would highly recommend this trip!

Definitely the glass bottom tour was worth it. We went during December Christmas break and there were plenty pf manatees . We could spot a number of them when they sneak peek above the water. As they were swimming and having their breakfast under water , the visibility was low around them so it was hard to spot them through glass bottom but our captain of the boat was so sweet that he tried to get us a glimpse of it under water and we did, a big one swam just under the glass bottom. It was a great sight. We did see a alligator basking in the florida sunshine ☀️ and number of beautiful fishes. It was so crystal clear and there were several springs which we toured above. It was overall a great experience. Definitely a must do on a clear sunny day. One can also take a glass kayak/canoe and spend their own sweet time in these waters.

The springs are beautiful. We’ve gone paddle boarding here many times, renting and bringing our own. The loop is easy and can be made in less than an hour, if you’re in a hurry. The long trip down the river is so fun and the gators, monkeys and all the fish and birds make the paddle so fun. This is definitely something worth doing a few times.

Did this trip last year with 2 others and had a blast. Decided to come again with 5 others. Had an absolutely wonderful experience both times.
There was a short wait to check in and pay and then put the kayaks in the water, but it wasn't too bad. The River Patrol was very helpful with information and directions.
Highly recommend anybody to come and experience this. If you don't have your own kayak, you can rent them.
Looking forward to next year!

Found this beauty while exploring the area on a business trip to Ocala. The most beautiful blueish green water. They have clearly defined trails and a beautiful boardwalk area that loops you through the forest. Didn’t get to take the boat tour but it looked awesome with the clear see through bottoms! Lots of parking, well maintained restrooms, and reasonably priced to enter! A must see if you are in the area!

Really nice outdoor activity to do with family! We were hoping to see a manatee but we didn't, unfortunately! Maybe next time. We brought our dogs, and they loved sniffing around. Lots of new wildlife to see and hear. Wish we had more time to kayak. Such beautiful water here! The boats looked fun, but we didn't go on a tour. The front lady was so nice and spoiled our dogs with loves and dog bones!
Lexi Shepherd — Google review
An extensive and beautiful natural park with a couple of shops/restaurants and one can also explore it by boat/kayak/canoe. The boardwalk encompassing a rich forest area has several shaded spots. For me the highlight was watching the wildlife in crystal clear water and seeing a pretty good sized gator from a safe but close distance. Parking is not a problem, lots of free spaces. Well worth returning to.

We live pretty close to Silver Springs and we try to go every morning for our walk. The staff are great every question you have they have an answer. The grounds are well maintained and very clean. If you come at the right time you will see the monkeys, once you spot the first one it's easy to find the others. You will also see all kinds of wildlife alligators, big fish etc... I could go on and on. We see something different every time we go and that's 4 or 5 times a week. It's a great place to come just to have coffee and enjoy the nature.
Karen Williams — Google review
There is lots to see why paddling around on the water. You can do a short trip or spend a day there. They have third-party kayak rentals, or you pay the park fee and can launch your own.
Colby — Google review
It's about 2 hours north of us but we've been several times this year for paddling. The shuttle service is great and worth the price. So much gorgeous scenery and wildlife and it is a very relaxing ride down. Would recommend to everyone to go at least once.

Beautiful place to kayak if you have the chance. It can get pretty busy on the river, so it's best on a weekday first thing in the morning. Highly recommend! We came across a wide variety of wildlife during our time down the river. Manitees, alligators, turtles, monkeys, various birds, even jumping fish!
Piece of advice, if you kayak/canoe make sure you utilize a waterproof cell phone bag that FLOATS! Almost lost my phone for good if it weren't for someone with a net coming by just by chance.
Josh Sabourin — Google review
Beautiful place a lot of trails a garden out of mates. We did the kayak we bring our kayak you can rent in the place you have a beautiful trail with the kayak. You can see all the kind of animal birds, monkeys mates and if you already pay for the campground, you don’t need to pay for the park And also if you don’t want to go today park you can just bring your own kayak and put in the water and start the trail. It’s very beautiful place quiet and it was not out of people. The water temperature is 72 but you cannot go inside the water in this place, very recommend! Enjoy your trip

We love Silver Springs. It is amazing to kayak. You see birds, manatees, alligators, turtle, fish, sunken ships and several springs not just Silver Springs. We have not been on the glass bottom boats but have overheard the boat captains and the seem quite knowledgeable. It is $5/kayak to launch your own kayak but parking is free. We have been here in December and saw several manatees and in April and saw the birds in their estuary, amazing both time frames though I think I'm my opinion the Spring was a little better because of all the birds. However, I don't think you can go wrong any time of year.

A beautiful nature gem in Silver Springs Florida.
As soon as you enter the park, you can start seeing the fauna and flora within the park. The parking is ample and free.
The entrance to the park is only $2 and kids under 6 are free. Senior discount is also available. You can have glass boat excursions for an additional $12.
The persons attending the booth are superb. They make you feel welcome.
The park has many walking trails for you to enjoy. The fauna and flora are all well kept and beautiful.
We took the glass boat excursions and saw a lot of enchantment that Silver Springs has to offer.
If you are lucky, you may see turtles and alligators during the trip. The captain was a blast. We were laughing from start to finish.
Highly recommended.

We have been to Silver Spring State Park twice so far. It's so enjoyable. We have done the glass tour which is a great experience and also you get a lot of information from the captain of the boat while on it.
The canoes / kayak are a must, you will get the opportunity to enjoy at first sight the marvelous ecosystem of this spring, the clear water, the music of the sound of the birds and if you are lucky enough you will see manatees, alligators and turtles. There are also trails and camp grounds.
The have some spots to buy food and also have clean restrooms.
We are very looking forward to come back soon.
Please respect the environment and keep the place clean.

Such a beautiful place to kayak at! We paid the entrance fee and launch fee and brought our own kayaks and paid 12$ for two people, we chose to paddle back and not get out at the Ray Wayside Park which was a little bit of a challenge but definitely do able! We seen fish, turtles, so many birds, a decent amount of alligators and some manatee! Would highly recommend for a nice relaxing float down the river while searching for wildlife!
Robbi Roof — Google review
We canoed the river and springs in our own boat. What a beautiful place with white sand on the bottom, the sink adding makes the water look aquamarine. We saw dozens of turtles, almost as many Anhinga and Cormorants, Ibis and Blue Herons. Also we spotted a couple of alligators and maybe a dozen Manatee in several small pods, plus a couple alone. Just wonderful. We did the small loop which only took about 70 minutes.
Bryn Dews — Google review
We love kayaking here at Silver Springs State Park! Not only is the water beautiful, but you can see Manatee, alligators, turtles, and some beautiful birds. After kayaking we enjoy a nice walk along the trails. My husband was excited to see an original suit from his favorite movie Creature From the Black Lagoon on display.
F Scott — Google review
Staff was argumentative and cranky. Lots of crowds! Would not recommend if you have your own kayaks unless you are patient and can maneuver through all the renters and the glass bottom motor tours to find the nature and peace/quiet-beautiful once you do. (Also did not see any monkeys)

Very beautiful place to visit.. it's about 1.3 hours from Orlando but it's definitely worth it if you need some nature time! The water is beautiful.. you can rent kayaks or go on a boat tour.. it's very clean and well kept. There are several monkeys close to you when hiking around, definitely will be able to see them and get a good picture of them.. They do not like dogs so be mindful of that..

Kayak rentals where a bit pricey ~($45/$60) and line was long to get shuttle tickets but it is definitely worth it to kayak this river it was gorgeous and see-through the whole 5 mi downstream trip the shuttle cost 15 additional dollars to get back to your original parking spot. We saw tons of monkeys, river otters, alligators, birds and other wildlife. It was beautiful and shaded/had tree cover approximately half the trip so I did not get sunburn even though I forgot my sunscreen. Took about 3 hours to go down all the way down stream.
Moonlight Artistry — Google review
Beautiful but very crowded at the start, partly because the Fort King trail was closed. Really caused a snafu at the put-in. But otherwise lovely! Be warned, if you are an average paddler, definitely turn around at the big orange arrow! It's easy to go farther than you intend and end up paddling against the current on your way back. We were dog-tired when we finished!!

Our group took the 90 minute boat ride down the river & it was a great day. We had a lot of folks who had never been there before I& we were able to see all kinds of wildlife. The river is so beautiful and unspoiled and clean. Well worth the price. It is dog-friendly, with a lovely gift shop, cafe, and welcome center. We saw monkeys, gators, manatees, all kinds of birds and fish. We had a great boat captain

We visited on a Saturday in mid March and it was packed! Almost no parking when we arrived close to 1 pm. We hadn’t made a reservation for the kayaks but we were able to get one for 2 people without problem. We did a 5 mile trajectory on the river and took us about 2h. The shuttle took us back to the entrance. We saw manatees and monkeys!! Then we hiked for the blue trail and yellow trails. It took us about 1:15h but wasn’t very scenic. There’s not a lot of shade so keep it in mind. We would definitely go back! Beautiful.
Celeste Wagner — Google review
We went here for a stop going back to Michigan. It was well worth it.
I believe it’s $2 to walk around d
$15 each for boat ride.
We went in March and we were told the Manitees were all gone.
We saw a mother and baby!
Several alligators.
All 4 springs. He gives all the history on.

Beautiful.

Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park
State park
Sights & Landmarks
The Pulitzer Prize-winning author's restored 1930s Cross Creek farmhouse with tours & gardens.
This is a great day trip. We took our time and enjoyed the whole area. Nice walking trails all level and in the shade; nice surprise.
Tours were available and needed to go into the house. $3 per group in one vehicle to enter park. Honor box to pay the fee; correct change is needed.
The farmhouse tour fee is $3 per adult and $2 per child. Hours 9 to 5.
It is perfect for kids and all accessible for any age. Plenty of benches and picnic tables.
Great restaurant “The Yearling” just up the road well worth the stop.

We throughly enjoyed our visit to Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Historic State Park. The grounds and the trails were beautifully scenic. I especially enjoyed walking the jungle trail behind the house with the many cypress trees and orange trees.
The tenant house was open for a self guided tour, and had three rooms and a large porch..
We toured the farmhouse with a tour guide. We were taken through each room. Our guide pointed out interesting things that Ms. Rawlings wrote about in her book, “Cross Creek.” I am very glad I had the foresight to read that book before the tour.

One of the nicest place for a day trip. A small farm house, may be you have seen that many times in your dreams but never expected it to exist in real world. Not very exciting, yet very close to heart- beautiful! The late January winter evening: an unplanned respite, a cup of tea was the only missing thing to enjoy the mysterious evening.

Her Story it’s Beautiful and inspiring. Famous writer that used to live and loved Ocala. Specially her charming home. Her personality and passion for writing made her write and tell her stories as real but in a fictional way. She was way ahead of her times. I so glad we get to see her house, her charming garden and dreamy orange and lemon trees. It’s very inspiring and transports you to back in the days.

I love visiting this lovely home. Each time I visit, the guide expresses their knowledge of MKR, and more is added to the colorful life of a great author.

Very well kept grounds. Wish we were there during your hours, Thursday -Sunday. We walked around the grounds and walked the trail behind the buildings, be sure to do that as well, very short but easy walking

I went on Monday and the inside wasn't open. It was all the same magical. I own the movies and the books. This place is old Florida at its finest. I love Cross Creek. I love this home so much. There is a romance about it. Such sweet air. Come visit!

This is one of my most favorite places in Florida. I try to go at least once a year. Definitely go on the free house tour (Thursdays through Sundays.) Every time I've gone, the guides have been able to answer every weird question I've thrown at them. They even knew the name of the paint color (FYI: Shermin Williams Cheese Curd.). I love everything about this place - the house, the remnants of the orange grove across the street, the barn, and that you get a day full of fun for only $3 per car. Can't beat that with a stick.

Beautiful scenery!
However, if you have an inboard or v-hull boat, you might want to launch elsewhere. We got all caught up in the seaweed and had to "chop" our way to deeper water.

This site is a snapshot of ‘old Florida’ before we began to fill the state with animatronic theme parks and palatial subdivisions. It represents a slower lifestyle when we grew our own fruits and vegetables and raised our own livestock. You can spend a pleasant hour or two exploring Ms Kinnan Rawlings home and small orange grove. This site is especially interesting for fans of her books and has a nostalgic charm for Florida natives that remember the old days. The tour guides are knowledgeable and are clearly fans of her work. I enjoyed hearing about the famous authors that came to visit.

Loved this sooo much. The real Florida. The idea of a simple life, an author’s retreat. Preserved/curated so beautifully. So welcoming. Came back with my kayak — pure heaven. Bird-song filling the spaces between natural lily gardens and cypress stands. Idyllic nature trail, too, for walkers.
Tinaji Yogini — Google review
Lived in Florida most of my life and never visited the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings estate. What a great place to experience the real Florida. Marjorie was a unique individual, and way ahead of her time. You feel her stories come to life while touring her preserved estate. Step back in time and appreciate the glimpse of Florida’s history.

We walked in the house through the front door that was supposed to be locked, and surprised the caretaker / docent. She was very gracious and gave us a small tour as we exited out the back door. A wonderful place with lots of charm and old world comfort.

I thought it was awesome!! We spent about an hour on site listening to the stories of Rawlings and her life and previewing the home. The tree canopy on site is amazing!!

Good place to visit for the tour. Not much of a hiking trail but cool trail. You should check it out for yourself.

The historic home of the Pulitzer Prize winning author of 'The Yearling.' Located at Cross Creek (she wrote another book by this title), a rural community in SE Alachua County. Authentic of the 1930s decade with a seasonal garden and small orange Grove remaining, and a nature walk. Dogs on leash allowed on grounds but not inside the house. Family oriented, with tours available Thursday - Sunday. See State Park website for specific details, admission is $3/ vehicle (up to 8 people). Holiday decor from early December until the end of the year. Summer closure of the house around August 8 for 2 months while grounds remain open.
Sholom Park is a charming green area that features an elegant pavilion, a pond, and well-manicured gardens surrounded by paved pathways. It's a peaceful environment where visitors can enjoy the scenery while walking around the tranquil forest. Although it's not suitable for intense exercising purposes, it offers an excellent opportunity to unwind and revel in the vegetation, birds, and fish. The park prohibits bikes, pets or drones; thus creating an idyllic atmosphere for those seeking calmness.
Very peaceful, beautiful park. Visually stimulating with colorful flowers in bloom and the Spanish moss to give it a storybook feel. Very nice place to take a walk. I will definitely be returning to this park when I am in the area.

This park was absolutely beautiful! They have paved walk ways that are mostly shaded open and nice. Plenty of benches, nice grassy areas for picnics or whatever. If I lived closer I would come here everyday.
Jennie Clem — Google review
Beautiful park to walk, enjoy nature and do some soul searching. Park is quiet and peaceful and can be explored in less than 2 hours. Not allowed: Pets, bicycles, skates, skateboards or drones. There's a nice pond with fish from a boardwalk. Plenty of park benches available to sit and enjoy the surroundings.
Candela_ Miami — Google review
WOW, what an amazing place! The grounds/gardens are immaculate! There are different themed gardens all gorgeous.
There is a pond (please only feed the feed provided, $.25).
There is an abundance of wildlife to be seen.
A nice walking park. Not a place for kids to run no scooters, golf carts or bikes (please respect the beauty do not let your kids trample the foliage or wildlife). I did see a few garden snakes provide them space as they pass.
I will definitely be back on the next visit.
N Flo — Google review
There are no playgrounds. No bicycles, pets or drones allowed. This makes for a peaceful and quite environment. Great for walks and to just relax! I will definitely come back. Make sure to bring your camera! And a few bucks for the optional donation.

This is a private park open to the public and is one of, if not the best parks in Marion County. Amazingly serene place to go for a walk, with of plenty of benches to sit and clear your head, pond with koi fish and machine (.25) to feed them and more than enough shade to enjoy the day without the sun in your eyes. They offer yoga classes, movie nights and several family friendly events are held here throughout the year.

Beautiful park. Very quiet and clean. If you are looking for a nice day stroll, please stop by. Free admission, onsite bathrooms, and parking is available. The only downside is the park closes promptly at 5 pm.
Amanda Cantoral — Google review
Beautiful place. Very nice calm walk. This is not a very long trail, so don't come here to try to exercise. This place is a great place to just relax enjoying the trees, birds and fish, a peaceful walk around the enchanted forest.
First time visiting since we moved to Ocala, beautiful winters day.
Darwin Reyes — Google review
I go here almost every morning to meditate and clear my mind for the day. Never very crowded when they open and everyone there seems to be respectful of the rules. Leave you phone in the car and look at what’s around. The trails are great with benches all around to sit and take in nature. Don’t forget your quarters to feed the fish.
Roger — Google review
Amazing place to go to relax and plenty of room to get away and enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature. I have only gone through one half of this park and am extremely pleased. It is very calm and beautiful. There are plenty of paths to walk and numerous benches to sit at to take in nature. Pets are not allowed, which makes sense since it is a privately owned park open to the public. A little over 2 miles of walkable paths to choose from. They are even adding a Zen garden.
Brandon Oakley — Google review
I have been trying to visit Sholom Park the last three times I have been in the area. Finally we visited. This is a wonderful park for quiet and tranquility. You have beautiful concrete paths to walk around beautiful landscaping. A pretty simple formula.
There are rules that folks need to know. Pets are not allowed. As are bikes, scooters, golf carts, drones or smoking. As such, there is little to disturb the peaceful nature of this beautiful park.
There are multiple garden or paths that you can stroll along enjoying nature. My favorite is the Labyrinth. But close behind are the pond, the olive tree promenade, and the pergebo. I also like the formal garden with the fountain. In reality, I like them all. They all have something different for you to enjoy.
If you bring quarters, you can buy food to feed the Koi in the pond. You can sit on many benches and soak in the nature with the sights and sounds of the birds. Even the smell of a lot of the plants and flowers fill the air. There is very little outside noise to destroy this. Although you can hear a car or truck now and then.
There are restrooms in the building right behind the pavilion. The pavilion is itself right at the end of the parking lot and is kind of a central location for the paths through the gardens. There is a water fountain that will fill water bottles at the restroom building.
They also have a stage and I guess they have events here at times. But I honestly don't know anything about them. And of course the pavilion which has some benches and ceiling fans for relaxation. But the fans were not on when we were there. The fountains were on in the formal garden and in the pond when we were there.
There was a lot of shade when we went with lots of foliage to block the summer heat. It was pretty hot out, but the shade helped keep it at bay.
All in all, I can't think of many relaxing and tranquil places that costs you nothing to enjoy. If people respect the rules and the park itself. Hopefully people will be able to enjoy this place for a long time to come. It took us a while to find the time to visit. We should not have waited so long. It was one of, if not the best thing we have done in the area.

Great park overall, free to the public and is very large with lots of trails. There is also a couple of gardens here that are well maintained, everything is kept up with and clean! Highly recommend to anyone who wants to relax with nature.

Beautiful place for a quiet walk. We took the 3 kids along but dogs and things to ride on (bikes, scooters, etc) were not allowed, which made for the calming experience we had! Place to refill water and bathrooms along with plenty of areas to sit. Feed the fish, take a romantic stroll or just take in nature. Will most Def be coming back to explore more!
Dani Colgan — Google review
Looking for a place to just relax. Take a few deep breaths and enjoy the Zen Garden. Or follow the path and get lost in a maze of flowers. Feed a koi fish or two before leaving. But most of all leave with peace in your heart.
Micheal Kennedy — Google review
Sholom Park is a serene and tranquil place that truly embodies its founding vision of being a sanctuary for inner peace and learning. This privately-owned park, open to the public, was inspired by a visit to Boston Gardens and named after Sidney Colen's grandfather, Sholom, which means "peace" in Hebrew. The park does not serve any political or religious agenda, ensuring a neutral and welcoming atmosphere for all visitors.
The park's design is both environmentally conscious and aesthetically pleasing, with little to no supplemental watering required. It beautifully integrates native plants with ornamentals, perennials, and annuals, creating a resilient and diverse landscape. With numerous species of flora and fauna, including a variety of bird species, Sholom Park is a haven for nature enthusiasts and bird watchers. The park features miles of paved trails that wind through open meadows and under the shaded canopies of trees like live oaks, hickories, and long leaf pines. Strategically placed tribute benches offer spots for rest and reflection.
Adding to the community spirit, Sholom Park has introduced a new volunteer program, "Friends of Sholom," starting in 2024. This initiative involves light park maintenance and sharing the history and vision of the park, along with enforcing tranquility guidelines. This program is open for weekend and weekday volunteering, making it a great opportunity for those who wish to contribute to the park's upkeep and share its story.
Sholom Park, with its combination of natural beauty and a mission to provide peace and learning, is a unique and valuable

There wasn't much to see, probably because it's still winter here. But my favorite part was the manicured bushes, which I'll post a pic of. It's a nice place to walk around or have a picnic. The zen area was cute, but not too much to see. It needs some work, but again, maybe it's because of the time of year. There are bathrooms. And a pond area where you can out a quarter in a machine to get fish food and feed the Koi.

This park is one of my favorites. It’s well kept and peaceful! It’s a nice spot to go for a stroll and just to sit and read. There have been some groups around taking wedding and graduation photos too.

This is definitely my favorite park in Ocala. This is not a place which has a playground for children. It was build as a place to meditation and take in the beauty of all of God's creations. They host many different events throughout the year. Check out their website for info on those. My children love to go feed the Coy fish and turtles and walk the trails. They just added the coolest Asian themed Zen area for meditation and reflection. If you need a place to do a photo shoot this has many different areas to do such!

Shalom park is a beautiful and calming place to visit. It's full of beautiful flowers and paths that are exquisitely decorated. The pond, beautiful pergola, labyrinth, and the Zen garden are just a few reasons to visit this park. It's truly inspiring with little passages written to reflect on. It's a wonderful place to teach your kids and loved ones about nature.

Was very serene and peaceful. Took my 6 year old daughter there and she loved feeding the fish.
LOVED this place! The animals are all so loved and well taken care of, all staff is so knowledgeable and sweet. The animals live like wild animals as they should and the enclosures are spacious and natural, absolutely a must-go!

Wonderful facility, dedicated employees! Tour was amazing, we learned so much. We opted to book the ride-on experience, which was such fun! Would definitely recommend while in town.

I booked a private tour for my wife and myself and we got to experience this wonderful place today. Everything about it was amazing. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and able to answer our questions, often times before we even knew what to ask. We saw almost all of the animals (remember you’re on the animals time and at their home so you may not get to see them all) and we also fed the baby lemurs. This was truly a great time and I recommend everyone get out there as soon as you can.

It was a great time! Learned a lot about the animals and also has a one on one experience with the lemurs it does cost extra but it’s worth it. They are so cute and friendly! They are doing a great job taking care of these animals. If you’re in town its a must do!

Incredible place to see a myriad of big cats, primates, exotic species and interact with some really cool animals. 10/10 would recommend. They have a very knowledgeable staff, my wife and I will be back. They also have the best cat on earth, the Caracal (die Rooikat), seriously an amazing place.

Had an amazing time on a private walking tour with my husband. The guide was very knowledgeable and answered any questions we had. My husband arranged it as a surprise for me, including feeding experiences, and she helped him keep it a secret until the end. I loved hearing the backgrounds of the animals, watching them interact, and seeing how happy they were. I would highly recommend visiting. Just know, you may not see all the animals because they either sleep during the day or are trying to keep cool. It is not the fault of the staff, you’re on the animals’ time and at their home.
Alexis Vogt — Google review
Absolutely wonderful and fun experience! The Zoologists are friendly and knowledgeable, and the ride-on scooters are so fun! The Lemur encounter is 100% worth the $45 price. All the animals seem very content; the owners and staff clearly care about the animals.

My daughter and I absolutely love this place! We have done the group tours twice and the private tours twice and would recommend the private tour. It is definitely worth the money. Barry and Christine are amazing, along with everyone else there! The animals are amazing and you can tell how much they love their animals! They are well cared for! They have the oldest male Indian Rhino in the world, named Henry. He is just the sweetest! Him and Barry have a special bond! I could go on and on. Definitely recommend this place ❤️

This place is absolutely euphoric. The animals are taken care of so well. As a vet tech that works with exotics I am very critical and I was impressed. The staff is so friendly. Shout out to Lily who was super sweet and knowledgeable. The owners passion really shows. The establishment is very well kept. Scarlet was def my favorite animal and the Lemur experience made me cry because it was just so dang cute. Every penny was worth it and I absolutely will be back.

I absolutely had a blast. We had a wonderful Tour guide and she taught us about these beautiful specimens from tigers, to big cats, to lemurs. There were peacocks roaming the sky and some lovely little furry cat co-workers on foot who kept us all company. My favorite animals were the cheetahs and of course the lemurs who gave us a chance to pet them (ask for Sweetcakes)! The lemurs experience was so much fun! Afterwards we learned about all the ways to support this conservatory, from donations to open houses to the cute gift shop, to the open house events. Will have to attend, must see attraction right here!!! Say hi to Sunflower the tiger for me!!!

My family came down from Virginia and we stopped in here for a tour. It was amazing how many endangered animals they are taking care of, and how knowledgeable the staff is.
We were surprised at the amount of animals we were able to see and interact with…at a safe distance. We were also lucky to get an up close encounter with a baby clouded leopard (adorable!), as well as to feed a rhino (both hilarious and adorable).
Isaiah, the zookeeper who gave us a tour was incredibly knowledgeable. I don’t think there was one question we asked him that he couldn’t answer. He was friendly and welcoming, making the tour a great experience.
Whenever we’re down here again, we’re definitely coming back to check on our new friends.
Located in central Florida, Rainbow Springs State Park offers a natural spring and lush forest. The park is well-known for its gentle rivers and year-round 72 degrees temperature.kayaks, tubing, fishing, swimming, hiking and bird watching are some of the activities available at the park.
It was my first time visiting and this place was seriously so beautiful. Some of the most incredible water I’ve ever gotten to swim in my life. I definitely recommend bringing a snorkel mask and a pool noodle when coming to swim here. I also recommend going early on a weekday to avoid busier times, we got there at 10:30 on a Thursday and didn’t have any issues getting in. I was worried about gators before coming swimming here, but after getting in I didn’t see any and felt very comfortable and safe swimming there. I’m already so excited to come back here again some time. Seriously check it out if you’re considering going! The springs are breathtaking and so refreshing to swim in.

Entrance fee is $2 per person collected at a gate house near the spring headwaters about .25 miles from the parking lot. There are some short trails, a swimming area, restroom/changing rooms, pavilions and grilling areas and a lawn area for sunbathing. The visitor center and snack bar were closed on the day of our visit, Tuesday in February.
There is a watercraft launch and rental area located just past the swimming area which we used to launch our paddle boards. You will need to carry your watercraft from the parking lot to that area.
The water is crystal clear, deep and 72 degrees year round. Paddling was great, next to no obstacles with light currents. I have had more scenic experiences, much of the river is occupied by residential areas on one side. Wildlife is abundant, turtles, fish and birds are everywhere. As in any water source in Florida there are alligators but we did not observe any during out 3 hours on the water. Best of all were the small coves along the river which provided opportunities to pull over and cool off with a swim.
There is a campground located 7 miles by road from the spring that has its own watercraft launch.
Overall the park was a great experience although I’m sure it would be difficult to have that same option had we gone on a weekend, the park closes the gate at capacity, or had we not taken the watercraft out to explore the river away from the swimming area.

The nature is reach and beautiful
We love it here because it was easy to find a shaded spot for a picnic under the trees and it’s very clean. Pets are allowed and there is lots of picnic table under the pavilions
You can then jump in the deep water by the ramp. If you have small children with you bring a noodle, I’d like one for me too, the water is deep & the spring pool wide
We rented a kayak for one hours and was enough
There is a beautiful cafe over the spring and a gorgeous trail where you can take a walk trough what was a zoo in the ‘60st … along the trail there is small waterfall
I think you’ll have to walk 3 miles to reach the bigger one
Not tubes allowed

My husband and I went paddle boarding at rainbow springs and we loved it! Beautiful river! We didn’t get to see much wildlife but it was still worth seeing the crystal clear water.

This place is AMAZING. Beautiful. Spectacular. We rented a kayak and got dropped off up stream from there we paddled to the state park and jumped in the water and paddled downstream to the rental place/blue gator. Paddling up to the state park took about 30ish minutes paddling downstream took about 2 hours so be prepared, being lots of sunscreen and go early in the morning!!!! The wind is not fun to paddle against. If we were to do it again we would’ve gone out at 9am instead of 1pm!!! But overall Excellent Experience!! 12/10

Beautiful state park with a botanical garden with walking paths, canoe/kayak area, restrooms with changing rooms and a swimming area. The parking lot is only a 5-10min walk away. You can tell this is a touristy destination by their gift shop, food stand & how they set up the park. The swimming area is smaller than expected, but still an amazing experience. I saw a sea turtle while swimming!
They do charge a $2 admission.
The campground is nice, clean and spacious. Check in was easy & staff was friendly. You can see the stars above in the night. The area is quiet & great for families.

Wow wow wow! The experience you get here is truly unforgettable. Such a beautiful spring. Crystal clear water and cool. With a swimming area and also kayak and canoe rentals. Restrooms are on site. Lots of areas to setup a nice picnic. The views were beautiful here. It does get busy on the weekends. So it's best to arrive right before they open. For only $2 per person to get in. It's the best experience you can have for that price. Btw you are allowed to snorkel in the swimming area.

The place is magical. Great for spending the weekend. The only downside was that the actual swimming area and the rental area were closed due to a storm. The trails were amazing! As for the food sold at the cafeteria, the cheeseburger was a 10/10.

Beautiful, crystal clear water and scenic views. Absolutely loved tubing down this river. Saturdays are heavy with boat traffic but Sundays are pretty quiet on the river. You can bring your own tunes but the entry price is the same!

Fantastic place for a paddle. Water is crystal clear. Go to KP Hole for easy access to the river. You can drive, and drop off your kayak or paddle board, almost all the way to the water. Once your on the river go left (it’s much more scenic that direction). If you paddle to the end there is a nice swimming area.
Brian W. — Google review
The water was 72 degrees. It was beautiful, blue and cold. It's at least 7 plus feet deep. The waterfalls around the nature trails were pretty. They do need additional tables, chairs and BBQ grills. If you want to grill, make sure you get there early to get a grill. It has a nice open field for picnics and play time. You can bring your dogs to this park. They do have a cafe on site or you can bring your own food. You can use a kayak to view the wonderful and beautiful nature God created. I've lived in Florida all my life, and I didn't know this place was here. I really enjoyed the trails and cold water. You only have to pay $2.00 to get in, and make sure you keep your receipt for re entry (just in case you need to go back to your car or to get something to eat). It is a must see if you love the great outdoors! Enjoy!

You can find all your answers here before coming here. This place is so amazing to see one of the natural springs in Florida. Firstly, it's open all day, basically from sunrise to sunset, which sounds great! It's a perfectly clean environment with amazing natural sounds. Summertime is always packed, so I was able to visit in October, which made me feel like I was the only person in the state park. The weather here is a bit colder than in South Florida. The swimming pool area is a bit small, so it could be a problem during the summer for accommodating everyone. There's not enough flat space to sit on the ground for a picnic, but they do have a pavilion and a cafe. The restroom is close to the pool area. If you like, you can also do canoeing 🛶 or kayaking. Last but not least, it's $2 per person.
Here's all you need:
⭐️ Bring a noodle; the water is a bit deep, but you can feel secure.
⭐️ Tubes are not allowed 🚫.
⭐️If you have a cart, keep in mind that parking and the pool area are about a 5-minute walk away.
⭐️Bring your snorkel 🤿 or goggles 👓.
⭐️I highly recommend bringing a wetsuit if you have one; the water is around 72 degrees all year.
⭐️Be ready to take amazing pictures!

It's like your own peaceful island! I spring hop often and this is by far the best I've been to! Not just for the waterfalls or the amazing springs but they also had restrooms, a gift shop and a snack bar!! It is clean and well kept also! I went during a weekday and got there as soon as they opened so it was quiet for the first few hours before it got busy! It was still serene tho!

One of the most beautiful places ever. The water are crystal clear and have the most beautiful colors. They have a huge lawn where you can just chill, and a bbq area where they also have tables and benches. They also have a small shop at the entrance for snacks and drinks. You can rent a kayak or puddle board for around 17$-27$ per hour (or around 50$ for the entire day). Another huge benefit to this spring is that they have beautiful trails where you can walk about and explore the nature around. GO THERE! Tubes are not allowed. You can bring your own kayak or puddle board as well (don’t know if they charge you an extra fee for that).

Very beautiful 😍 I did not expect the water to be so blue!! It was so pretty I had an amazing time. The water was crystal clear, and you could swim down and touch the springs. I highly recommend bringing a pair of goggles and, if you have some, snorkels. I went paddle boarding and saw fish, birds, and turtles. This was an exciting and superb experience. I would definitely go again but there are other springs I would like to see as well.

This place is beautiful. Manybtrails to walk and enjoy nature. The spring water is crystal clear and at a constant temperature of 72°F.
It is also a good place to rent or bring your own kayak.
Their gift store is also a good place to stop by and the food it good. Would definitely visit again. Next time, I will do their tubing down the river.

Went to this Spring to do some paddelbaording and it did not disappoint. Beautiful clear water. Could see fish and turtles swimming under the water. There are areas of deep and shallow water. Couple of different areas to launch your kayak, SUP, or canoe. Has a swimming area marked off and has a little dock and a ladder where you can swim. There is a small gift shop and a cafe where you can get drinks and snacks. A nice outdoor seating area with tables. There are several trails. There is a trail that leads to a pretty waterfall.

Wow how beautiful this place was. I am definitely going swimming next time. You do have to be aware of gators around I would personally not tube but the view and the water was stunning. I look forward to coming back and experiencing more of this place. They had a cafe with drinks and food as well.

The best part about traveling to any spring in the state of Florida . Is getting there . And the back way is the most scenic
Rainbow Springs is definitely at the top of the list for Springs. A little physical for somebody who is struggling with strength. There's waterfalls throughout the property, but it's a very hilly terrain. Handicap accessible to see the falls and around the spring. But not handicap to get into the water. I was very disappointed and exhausted after driving 3 hours to go there. I wasn't able to get into the water. I used the Springs as part of my therapy after having a broken back. I spoke to the Rangers about having a handicap accessible ramp that goes down into the water. Some of the Springs have the handicap chair. There is more than one handicap person going to the park. The park is beautifully maintained. The spring is absolutely breathtaking, always a 72° all year round. It's a $2 fee to get in and definitely worth it. There are several springs in the surrounding area. You can ask for a spring map and also a state park map for Florida. There are over 176 state parks, not including National in the State of Florida alone. And at least 75 Natural Springs in the state of Florida. Each one being more beautiful than another.
I hope you enjoy my recommendation. Safe travel🏞

Very fun. Kids had a blast swimming. It was early January and only 65 degrees but the kids were more than happy to spend a few hours in the swimming area. Walking around park was very nice, lots of beautiful scenery, waterfalls and streams. Nature trails were also fun but didn’t get a chance to explore them all. Will definitely be returning next time we are here for vacation.
To be clear, not sure if diving or jumping is allowed but it was 6-7’ deep and kids never got yelled at so🤷♂️

Lovely park. Beautiful views of the water and the waterfalls. Nicely paved paths for walking. Everything is wheelchair accessible. Clean bathrooms, friendly and knowledgeable staff, plus a nice gift shop.

I went to see the waterfalls. They were really nice. Worth the drive from Jax. The parking was sketchy. The entrance fee is $2 a person. Come early because they closed at 1pm Saturday because they were full to capacity.

Beautiful place! Very well maintained, friendly staff. $2 entry fee per person. Not a lot of parking so, come early. A gift shop and a small cafe are available but, not always open so bring whatever you might need, just in case. If bringing small children, please bring some type of USCG-approved flotation device for them as the water is too deep for even adults to stand. There's no beach access, just steps and pier access. You are not allowed to hang out on the steps either so again, it's recommended to bring flotation devices for younger kids and non swimmers. Waterfalls, trails, covered picnic areas and open grassy areas for picnics and sitting are all some great features.

We took a motorcycle ride and visited here to take in the scenery. The park was beautiful. It has a crystal clear spring area for swimming. It also had very pretty waterfall's for viewing. They had a gift shop, and a snack bar. There were also indoor restrooms. There is walking involved up, and down hill. It appeared that a motorized handicapped seated scooter could be used if needed. There was a $2.00 entry fee per person.

This is the heads springs for the Rainbow River the water is crystal clear. There is a roped off area for swimming. During the week it is not too crowded, a bit more peaceful and quiet. During the winter months, even quieter. A few waterfalls along a paved walkway and some fish ponds. Picnic tables, benches to relax on, public restrooms. The staff was very friendly. The nature trails are sand and very wooded but easy to navigate. Parking can be a problem During the summer months, have to get there early. You can rent kayaks there also, I didn't, so can't comment on that. Just a beautiful state park worth every bit of the $2 entrance fee.

I've been here a couple times now and enjoyed each visit. Haven't been to many Florida state parks yet but this is one of my favorites. The kayaking is good and the gardens, flowers and waterfalls are beautiful. Worth a visit if you are near Ocala or looking to detour off I-75.
The Florida Museum of Natural History is a large and well-maintained museum that explores both the natural and human heritage of Florida, the Caribbean, and Latin America. It has many permanent displays on Florida's fauna and flora as well as an extensive butterfly rainforest.
I brought four of my little ones my wife and brother in-law to visit this gem, the kids where completely blown away and had smiles from ear to ear the whole time we were there. The wife loved many parts of the visit as did the brother in-law. I have been to quiet a few museums in my life time and this one was very well laid out and was not to long or to short it was just right the facility was clean and had ample parking over all it was a very pleasant family outing and we thank you for your work and dedication to supplying our youth and even our adults with the beauty and history you elegantly laid out for our viewing pleasure can't wait to see how you change things around with new exhibits in the future

Not too expensive, great for kids with a variety of exhibits and rotating displays. The staff were friendly and helpful during our lost-child incident. They had a very interesting display of fossils, presented in a timeline of ancient Florida. They also had a great area for young children, including those with sensitivities. Highly recommended.

Me and my mom went on a Saturday, and we waited about 20 seconds to buy our tickets. The most impressive thing about the museum was the organization of everything and how updated each exhibit was! We spent about 3 hours in the museum, the butterfly exhibit is definitely worth the extra money, super beautiful and relaxing. Also we loved how on each exhibit everything was clearly labeled, letting us know what we were looking at, which we LOVED. Also at the fossil area, the table with two magnifying glasses was super cool and went maybe 20 minutes there just looking at shells and snake skin. This museum is fun for adults as well as kids and we will definitely go back

What a wonderful museum and tip of the hat to FL! Butterfly garden is a must IMO if you like butterflies. The museum has the largest specimen collection of butterfliesand moths in the world at over 9 million specimens! The temporary Fossil exhibit they have on display for a limited time is amazing. The kids were able to get hands on, not only in the discovery center, but also helping to glue together and label fossils before they are cataloged in the national database. We will be back. The.food at the Cafe next door was great and reasonably priced!

I absolutely LOVE this museum! It definitely is a must-do in Gainesville. I have visited over 10+ times and I have a wonderful experience each time. The exhibits are interesting, captivating, and very informative. I love the limited time exhibits they offer. They will often include hands-on and interactive displays, which is fun for kids and adults! The discovery zone is also super hands-on and interesting. The butterfly garden is absolutely beautiful and an experience I recommend for everyone. The museum also has a great gift shop! Don't miss out on this outstanding museum!

Wow this place is so cool! It's a wonderful museum dedicated to Florida's natural history and has so many interesting exhibits. My absolute favorite is the fossil exhibit. The Mastodon display is quite impressive and mostly intact. The butterfly garden is pretty spectacular too. And if you like spiders and creepy crawly things check out the Spiders Live exhibit. We had such a wonderful time here.

Great museum to spend half a day in. Plenty to see and learn about Florida’s natural history. Area for kids to interact and learn. Butterfly garden is a must add on. The temporary exhibits vary throughout the year and are usually worth the add on as well.

This museum is great! I'm a Florida native and very passionate about the states wildlife, and their collections are very diverse and informative. So many cool fossils, specimens, and exhibits on the flora and fauna of the state. Their traveling exhibits are always super interesting as well, most recently I saw the dinosaur egg exhibit, which had ton of interesting info and reproductions for both kids and adults. I definitely recommend this place, especially for return visits, because there's just so much to see!

Really impressive museum for its size. It looks small from the exterior but its a labyrinth of exhibits and a wealth of Florida science and history information. The discovery kids zone is fantastic, but note that section and the special exhibits close 30 minutes before actual museum closing time. Its free admission to permanent exhibits and an absolute must with kiddos if you're visiting the area.

Nice museum. Easy parking. Lots to see and different exhibits. Paid extra to see the butterfly garden and spider display. Was worth it. Lots of Florida history. Arrow heads. Native American history. Fossils. It wasn’t too busy. Lots of space staff was very friendly and informative. Nice place to spend the day. Good for family’s kids and dates.

So wonderful! It's free to get in but you have to pay to see the extra exhibits. It's totally understandable when you think about how expensive it would be to keep all of the butterflies, plus the plants , and other animals alive. I highly recommend it! I've never seen so many shell fossils! The native American history was also educational and would be great for kids (especially homeschooling ones).

A really nice museum thoroughly depicting the history of Florida’s prehistoric past. There are a huge collection of fossils and entire skeletons of prehistoric animals from the region. There are also a great many displays on the early indigenous people of the area. A really interesting place to visit.

We loved everything about this museum! We had gone once before and decided to take our entire family this go around. The butterfly gardens are a must. We enjoyed being able to go in as many times as we wanted. Perfect location for both kids and adults to have a memorable trip. Entry is free, just have to pay for the add-ons like the butterfly gardens.

It was a bit windy and brisk so we didn’t do the butterfly rainforest as the lady at the ticket desk told us it wouldn’t be worth the ticket price as the butterflies aren’t out and active when it’s cooler outside so we just browsed the gift shop and free portions of the museum as a pit stop on our way back from Orlando. It was a nice place to explore and a good way to break up the drive.

every time my granddaughter comes to visit me we go to see the butterfly exhibition. Beautiful is like being in another world. Due to her condition of Autism, her connection with nature is incredible. She also has ADHD.
also requiring Support in Social Communication. Before entering she understands the rules of the site very well even better than me. because she is high functioning autistic. And believe me, maybe one day she will work for you guys. But the fact that she spreads her arms is not an indication that she wants to touch the butterflies. It is for them to reach her. I'm telling you this not because of a bad review because there was one of you staff employees who came out and told her you can't touch them. You can imagine what happened to her. she began to cry because what she wanted was for a blue butterfly to reach on her hands. Nothing more than that. She wasn't touching her I was with her reminding her of the rules she just wanted to feel the blue butterfly in her hands. She wasn’t stalking them . which she knows very well its name and its characteristics not only of that butterfly of almost all of them. I can assure you that in the future my granddaughter will be of great help to you. Having said all this, I only have one suggestion. Today various colors are used to identify special conditions. I think it's the purple color. With a bracelet you as employees will know that it is a person with special conditions. but that behind them there is an adult who knows the rules and is going to help you to make that special person follow the rules in such a beautiful place prepared to preserve something as beautiful as butterflies. My granddaughter Briana is very grateful that you take care of her butterflies, she understands that butterflies are God's creation and you have to take good care of them. When she spreads out her arms, she knows that at some point one of the butterflies is going to reach her, and that's how it has been on our recent visits to such a beautiful place.

The Butterfly Rainforest Museum of Natural History at the University of Florida is a popular attraction that features an interactive exhibit with thousands of butterflies and moths.
We saw a billboard on I75 and decided to stop by. We had the best butterfly encounter. They also had a dino exhibition that we enjoyed as well.. the butterflies though stole the show. We saw 2 butterflies hatch and it was amazing!!! Then we visited the exhibit and it was beyond amazing... They were everywhere. Staff was friendly and I have to say their restrooms were super clean!!!!!

If heaven was a place, this would be it. They have an incredible variety of butterfly species in here. It's absolutely fantastic to be able to see them all fluttering around. They provide them a large variety of pollinator plants so no matter the species, they are happy. They clearly care about the health and safety of all their butterflies and it's just magical to be able to witness it. I had to walk through twice just to be able to experience it again. 10/10 would recommend 💛

Beautiful butterflies, birds, and flora. They were not difficult to see, as they were very numerous, fluttering everywhere and not shy at all. We even watched a couple emerging from their cocoons. It was well worth the visit. It was a bit hot the day we went, but it's just that time of year.

Amazing exhibit! I could have stayed there all day. You go at your own pace along a path and you're surrounded by beautiful butterflies, flowers, and plants. There's even a small waterfall and a bench to rest or take photos. The butterflies sometimes land on you (one landed on my kid's face!). And when we went, there were also a few birds. The place is one big photo op for some awesome and memorable photos. A++

We had an amazing experience here at the butterfly garden! Seriously can't say enough good. We got a couple dollar discount on admission because of being FL residents. The indoor portion was very informative and educational. Also very well laid out and organized.
The outdoor area, actual rainforest garden, was beautiful! Water fountains, birds, butterflies and beautiful plants. We enjoyed walking and taking it all in. Can easily spend a couple hours here. We enjoyed being able to observe all the nature up close in a safe weather proof environment.
The Florida museum is right next door. We did not visit that today, but it was quite large and looked to be a full day.
Parking was $4 and in a lot right next to museum. Restrooms available and a nice fair prices gift shop and penny machine at entrance.

We just did butterflies. Then after you can tour the free exhibits. There is a children's area with lots of seating for us older kids. 😀 worth every cent.

Butterfly Rainforest is like stepping into a page of a fairy tale book. Though compact in size, it bursts at the seams with vibrant life and natural beauty. A favorite among children, the venue is a testament to the idea that sometimes the most magical places come in small packages.
From the moment you enter, you're greeted by a myriad of fluttering wings, as countless butterflies dance around, making it a delightful spectacle. The vivid hues of these delicate creatures contrasted against the backdrop of lush greenery and radiant flowers is genuinely a sight to behold.
Speaking of flowers, the Rainforest is a paradise for botany enthusiasts. The curated collection of flora not only serves as nourishment for the butterflies but also provides visitors with a sensory treat of colors and scents. Each petal and leaf has been meticulously cared for, showcasing the delicate balance and harmony within this micro-ecosystem.
The addition of the serene water body dotted with colorful koi fish adds another layer of charm to the place. Watching these graceful fish move through the water, almost in a rhythmic dance, is both calming and captivating.
Though it might not take a whole day to explore, the Butterfly Rainforest leaves a lasting impression. It's a testament to nature's beauty and a gentle reminder that sometimes, the most beautiful things are found in the smallest of spaces.
In conclusion, if you're looking for a quick escape into a world of vibrant colors, mesmerizing creatures, and tranquility, the Butterfly Rainforest should be on your radar. It's not just an attraction; it's an experience - one that both kids and adults will cherish.

Very enjoyable, a helpful, friendly staff, and wow the butterflies!! I visit each year, and the display changes each time, and many species are always present, and each time I visit there are new ones to see for the first time. I recommend going on weekdays when plentiful parking is available, and the crowds are less likely, and pick a sunny day when the butterflies are active for the best display :-)

Devil's Den Prehistoric Spring is a unique subterranean natural pool located underground in Williston, FL. The pool boasts of rock formations, stalactites and fossil beds that provide an exciting diving and snorkeling experience. To access the spring, visitors must navigate through medieval stone stairs, adding to the thrill of the adventure. Although pictures may give an idea of what to expect, taking the plunge into Devil's Den brings an adrenaline rush like no other.
This place exceeded expectations. It's so cool and beautiful, and the grounds around the spring are something to see as well. Checked this one off the bucket list today, and it was well worth it. FYI, make sure you check out their website before coming here to read the rules and make sure it's for you and if so to make a reservation. Definitely check this place out. You won't be disappointed at all. Oh and the friendly cats on the grounds are a plus 😻

It was alright. Relatively small space to swim in, only saw a few fish which were mainly tucked into the dark recesses of the cave. Water wasn’t super clear either. So many other springs that are cheaper or free with much better snorkeling. Pros: unique spring being in a cave, nice shady area to picnic. For $60 for our family of 4, we all rated it as not worth it.

Awesome spot to go snorkeling or scuba diving. The water is crystal clear. The campsite has water and electricity and there is bathrooms to shower in. We took our own BBQ grill and it came in handy. There is a fire pit on all the camping sites. Just a really great experience.

It was definitely a unique experience. It was neat to see all the fish and the turtles. The water was cool and refreshing. They give you an hour and half time slot but we were done after 45 minutes. It is a bit smaller than we expected. If you have your own scuba gear I’d bring it. The fins were not the best and hurt our feet. I had to exchange snorkels twice because I kept breathing in water. They do not provide defogger for the goggles. The goggles were super greasy and needed a good cleaning. There was no one monitoring the swimming area in the sink hole.

Very cool and definitely worth a trip! The RV park had shady spots that were nice, but I wish our water hookup wasn’t defective for our whole visit. It’s truly gorgeous spot. If you’re snorkeling, maybe try to find a time it’s not packed with scuba divers.

Devil's Den Prehistoric Springs offered a nice experience, though the $30 fee, which covers snorkel gear for a limited 90-minute window, felt a bit steep. The snorkel gear worked fine except for the fact they do not even treat the googles with anti-fog which was quite aggravating as you had to continuously remove them to clean the lens. The initial cold shock from the water subsided as our bodies adjusted, leading to an amusing numbness. While enjoyable, there is not much to see except maybe for the scuba divers so the pricing might leave you questioning the overall value for the experience.

It looks exactly all the pictures, except it is even better as it is totally quiet and serene. Nelson, the turtle, was the highlight for me. Also lots of fishes, big and small!
Loose items are not allowed, but I would bring a flashlight to attach to your person. On a cloudy day, it would have been awesome to see more of the bottom.

We dove here on New Years Eve...a couple of dives during the day, then came back before midnight to finish out 2023 25' underwater. Someone had a beach ball with a strobe, and so the ball did not drop, but rather ascended. Kind of hard to get that kiss...the masks get in the way.
Well set up facility. Quick tank fills and ample room under the pavilions. It's a nice little park.
Entrance is a narrow 29 step walk down to the spring. We didn't have camera for diving so have to find videos on your own. Snorkelers have to give way to divers...please remember that our gear can be heavy and cumbersome. When we were there we had no issues.
Spring is 72 degrees year round. We got out of the water and the temp was 45 at midnight. A bit chilly to be ripping off wetsuits and drying off, but it's checked off the bucket list now.

Great dive site. It gets crowded. Best to go early. Max depth around 50'. It's basically a cave, who's ceiling fell in way back when. So now it's a cavern. Tons of swim through. 70 degree water. I'd recommend a minimum 3mm suit. Better with a 5mm. If you don't dive, there is the snorkeling option.

This is a completely different experience of snorkeling in springs or beaches.
The feeling of walking into the cave to dive into this beautiful blue hole is amazing 😍
The visibility was perfect, it has some fishes and turtles living inside; we were more than half day swimming at the Den and enjoying the pool next to it.
Last but no least, the opportunity to take wonderful pictures from the top of the Den and enjoy nature are great!
The staff is super friendly and everything is well maintained. 100% recommended 👍

Worth the trip!! If you’re a first responder or military, they offer a steep discount (not for the whole family but for the service member or responder). You must have a reservation and mask/snorkel/fins are required. You can rent everything there if you like. Tickets are good for a 2.5 hr dive or snorkel. After visiting several other springs in the area, I think this one was slightly warmer than the rest. Though if you’re diving you definitely want a wet suit. A really neat and unique experience. Highest recommendation!

So there are some reviews on here suggesting that the staff was rude and unpleasant. This, I'd have to strongly disagree with. From my experience the staff was friendly and informative. What I did witness, was a couple of people who didn't follow the rules, and were addressed about it but still seemed to not understand. Another thing I noticed was that as the day gets later, the more busy the den becomes. With that being said, there isn't a bunch of room to go up and down the stairs or swim. If you're looking to get the most out of your experiences, I'd suggest finding a time with the lowest traffic.
The experience itself was great! The scenery is amazing and beautiful! The water is clear and crisp and the greenery coming into the cave from the sink whole is awesome! Yes the water is cold! So if you're not willing to dip into it maybe just go for the epic visuals. Overall it was an great time and I'd highly recommend it anyone who loves and appreciates nature in all its beauty and glory!

Definitely worth the drive to enjoy. The place is very clean and staff is friendly. You need to make reservations in advance on their website. They require you to know how to swim with no life jackets and have snorkel and fins to go in which are also available for rent if you don’t have any.

The staff are extremely friendly (that includes the four legged members) and they explain everything very well. We came to snorkel. The snorkeling gear worked fine and it was easy to avoid accidentally getting water down the tube. When we visited Devil’s Den, the water felt too cold to us even though it’s advertised as 72 degrees year round. It might be best to go during the hot summer to cool off or else you’ll be envious of the scuba diver’s wetsuits.
There were several scuba diver groups when we went. From what we observed this looks like a great place to try out scuba diving for the first time to get the hang of it if the open ocean is too intimidating. The spring goes down pretty deep and there was plenty of room to accommodate approximately 20-30 scuba divers and roughly 5 snorkels.
Our snorkeling reservation gave us 90 minutes in the spring. For us this was too long. We were pretty cold by the end and could have done just a half hour tops.
As far as if there is a lot to see in the den, there really isn’t. There are fish and at least one large turtle in the spring, but it’s pretty dark and hard to see much of anything. A pro tip is to hover by a scuba diver that has a flashlight to see a bit more, but it’s really just rock.
It came out to just shy of $80 for two to snorkel and rent snorkeling gear. I would consider bringing your own snorkeling gear to lower the cost, but I still think the price is a extremely high. I can see why some people call this a tourist trap.

We did our second checkout dive here - yes I passed, am an certified scuba diver 😊. The iconic photo is all there is.
The venue is well kept, I think it’s pretty small - didn’t have time to walk around. Our dive masters said during the high season, it’s crowded, but I feel it’s pretty crowded now.
Two sections of stairs lead you down, one is narrower than the other. You see the iconic photo - small cave, with willows (?) dripping down from the opening, mixing with the sunlight - very enchanting. Because it’s our training session, photography is discouraged. I managed a few shots while waiting for the dive master working with one of our mates.
The spring water is 72 degrees constant. The space for dive is tight … the snorkelers are mostly foreign.
We spent nearly an hour to do paperwork - so be aware and budget for it.
There is a swimming pool where we also spent a few hours, to train. They’ve bathrooms and showers.
The registration/rental office has a microwave (not sure it’s for guests). Long sleeve t shirt for sale.
I couldn’t image how divers manage during the high season.

It is a beautiful place indeed but I just don’t see the point of spending $25 + $14 snorkel rental - for swimming in this small hole that is full of people. They have 45 spots available per slot.
You can bring your own snorkel.
You must make reservations on their website.
You have access for swimming for 1:30h
water was very cold but once you get used it’s okay. We stayed 25 min max. the old lady is super grumpy

Very great scenery, lots of open space, and many types of marine life living in the cave. They also have a few bats flying in the cave. Small area just to get into the cave, but it's bigger once you get down into it. Perfect clear waters to allow you to see everything, be it from just snorkeling or diving, the natural sunlight coming into the cave really helps light up the area. Sucks that you have to be part of a group just to vouch for you and be able to visit the area.

Gave it a solid 5 stars because diving into this cave and taking a swim was a blast! We visited on December 28th, and despite the cool weather, the cave was surprisingly warm inside. Snorkel gear rental was budget-friendly, and we had a good 2+ hours of underwater fun. Only cons is that after the changing room, you have to leave your clothing on picnic tables and walk your way in your swimming suit and snorkelling equipment (no place for sandals inside the cave or for towels. They should work on improving this. Also the reservation system is not friendly if you want to cancel a booking you have to call them. This is an issue if you live outside USA. But in general it was a great experience.

Snorkeling and Scuba diving are by reservation only. They will not let you in without one. You need an ID at check-in and will get a wristband after you get your rental equipment. I visited in the middle of summer when the temperatures were around 100 degrees. The spring water is a cool 72 degrees year round and very refreshing. My 7 year old son enjoyed it but found it a little too cold with a short sleeve rash guard and swim shorts. A full wetsuit would have been better for him. Even with a reservation, it can get pretty crowded when entering the spring. Everyone tends to hang out on the platform in front of the stairway at the bottom. Overall, it's a cool cave with fishes to swim around in. I would go again. This place is family friendly and affordable.

This place is very neat to see and a bit creepy because of the name 😬.. You must pay the park fee and also sign a waiver in order to get anywhere close to the opening Two Devil's Den and I can understand why!. One of Earth's many Marvels and spectacular to behold.
Ocean Rain — Google review
My family had a wonderful time snorkeling at Devil's Den. We read the website before we came, so we had our time reservations all set up and everything went smoothly when we arrived. The staff was friendly as they got our gear and explained the rules of the swimming in the springs. It wasn't too crowded, but it was really nice when all the people who didn't do their research left early because, surprise, springs are cold!
Clear springs with caverns for scuba diving, snorkeling & swimming, plus a campsite & dive shop.
If heaven had a physical portal on earth, I'm pretty sure that Ginnie Springs is somehow connected to it. This place is absolutely breathtaking and I feel so fortunate that I was able to experience it with my kids and family.
Many reviews have have mentioned the party/late night scene at the campground. While we found that to be true, it wasn't bad. If you want a calmer, chiller scene (which is totally okay! Just mind your business and no one will bother you) then the state parks up the road may be a better option for you.

The spring itself is beautiful. The staff keep the grounds nice and clean. The water is refreshing and cool. It is a nice piece of nature that I pray we don’t destroy! The people are really the problem. I took my family for the first time recently and the grounds are overcrowded which makes getting to and enjoying the spring difficult! Unfortunately, the weekend is not the best time to go. Too much partying and drinking, young people are still rude and people don’t watch their children. Parents were getting drunk and leaving children unattended. The staff or the park are not to blame for the ignorance and poor behaviors of the adults present the day I was there. Those same adults allowed their children to block the steps to launch onto the spring. I will try to go on a Tuesday the next time. I rate the park a FIVE for the view and staff. The 3 represents the experience overall. I will return and do recommend this spot for a getaway. It is affordable and could be fun for the family!

What an amazing experience. We went for the day and had so much fun !! We drove from Jacksonville and the ride was sweet. The staff there were pleasant and helpful. The grounds were beautiful. The water is cold but if you love to swim it won’t stop you. Lots of fish so definitely get snorkeling gear. We went on a weekday after a storm so it wasn’t crowded but still busy in some areas.

I’m going to say for what it is and what I was expecting going in, it’s great. Is it packed? Hell. Freaking. Yes. Swarming with people. Is it completely clean everywhere? No. There’s literally no way to be with as many people were in here on a regular weekend. But our neighbors were great. The RV sites were a great size. The river float was SO fun with amazing people watching. We had both kids and adults in our group and had a great time. Just don’t expect them to answer a phone or email and expect to be shoulder to shoulder in all of the five or so spring head areas. Getting up early before everyone is up and in is a great idea.

This trip is a annual tradition for a few friends and family of mine and this was my first year joining them. Having been to a few other outdoor campgrounds in Florida I was surprised to see how well this turned out. Having a big enough spot for us all to set up our tents and canopies was nice. We were right on the river so there wasn’t no line getting in from the top. Having a deli with fresh cooked food was also a plus. If you didn’t bring any floatation devices they had some you could rent to go down the river and float in the springs. Speaking of the springs I want to say I counted 4 or 5 spring fed swimming holes. They were all so cool at around 74 degrees. Not once wasn’t there something for us to do. We were able to set up our ping pong table , corn hole boards, throw the frisbee and football while here. Totally worth the $30 for a day camping pass. I recommend anyone and everyone to at least come here once a year. You wouldn’t be disappointed not one bit.

The staff in the entrance, office, store and restaurant are pleasant, helpful, and respectful. The campground is beautiful, the springs are beautiful. There are canoes and kayaks to rent. The bathroom is clean. Do not get site 21, very small. It has a path to the bathhouse and everyone walks through this site between the camper and electric pole. It is a very noisy campground. Large groups play loud music until 1 am, and beyond. There were 4 golf carts racing on the camping loop road at 2am. This is not really a place for families with young children.
Update: Appears this campground is very busy on Fridays, and weekends. Sunday afternoon many campers leave, is quieter. Departed Monday afternoon, gatekeeper said our reservation ended Sunday, although we paid for three days on Friday. Daughter and son in law behind us, same thing. They stayed to confirm that in fact we all paid for three days. The staff wrote the wrong date of departure. We left, that was the last straw.

Snorkeling equipment rentals stop at 3pm. Springs close for diving at 5:30pm.
Your best bet is to bring your own equipment.
The Springs are absolutely beautiful and well maintained. They have military discounts also.
A great experience!

This place is fantastic. The springs are beautiful and the water is so clear. Floating down the river is spectacular. So calm and relaxing. The camping is great too. Beautiful woods to tent camp and convenient to the springs and the river. They have it mapped so you can float downstream and walk back to the beginning and do it again. What a joy. We will be coming back to this place for sure.

Beautiful springs. 72 all year round. No lie it’s cold water in February even if it’s 80 out. I would get wetsuits if your going in the winter months. Snorkeling and diving is recommended so you can see the underwater caves. Kayaking and tubing the river is super fun but that current is strong 💪 so it’s a workout kayaking up the river but a blast floating back down!! Clearest water I’ve ever seen!! Definitely a must go to to see…

1 star for camping, 5 stars for day trip to the springs. I have come in the past to free dive the springs and float the river. It was incredible. The springs are one of the most beautiful in Florida. Camping here was another experience…. People rudely playing music until 2/3 in the morning. Our neighbors were dancing nude by their fire while children were around. People trash the place and don’t care at all about others. Be prepared if you are interested in camping here, but definitely come for a day at the springs.

We absolutely were in awe at the beauty of Ginnie Springs. The water is perfect. My family and I tubed down ginnie Springs, and it was a great family memorable experience. ❤️ we also camped 1 night at a camp ground that was just a few miles from the springs. Next time, we hope to get a camp site at Ginnie Springs. We are definitely going to be taking a trip back to stay several days. 1 day just wasn't long enough to enjoy everything that they have to offer. Don't miss out on a wonderful day at Ginnie Springs with friends and family making memories.

This is an excellent place for either camping or a day trip.
For camping: There are plenty of campsites available. You must reserve one if you want water and electric. For primitive, it is first come first served. Regardless, there are accessible bathrooms within walking distance of any site. Payment for camping includes all other amenities such as water access and picnic table usage.
For day trip: They have recently improved the check in experience and it now takes five times as short, and you no longer have to exit your vehicle to pay. Picnic tables are first come first use, although there are gazebos that you can reserve ahead of time.
Overall: Ginnie Springs is a must visit for locals and visitors alike. Highlights include: The clear springs with year-round 75°F water; river access to float; volleyball courts; scuba diving opportunities; and canoe/paddle board access.
My only reservation is the recent uptick in entrance fee, although that was inevitable.

Stayed at the campground. Did not expect people blasting their music till 3 am. First time experiencing that. The springs are gorgeous if you go early in the morning or at night. During the day it’s way too packed with people partying. Floating down the river was fun. I would love to try the cave diving one of these days.

This review is for cave diving only, we didn't use any of the other facilities. Devils eye is an awesome cave to dive. Has a pretty good amount of flow, but the water is usually very clear. If you're going on a holiday weekend, make sure you get there early so you can get a parking spot close to the steps that lead to the cave entrance.

The rooms being the campground was great. We stayed in the electric/water side with our camper. Great little spot near the front office. Bathroom/showers were close by. Only thing is our group was bunched up with another group. Might be too close together, wish we had more space/privacy. Very clean also. The springs themselves were beautiful. I recommend going during the week in the off season because there will be less foot traffic. We got to enjoy the springs with minimum people. Definitely recommend kayaking or paddle boarding the lake! Don’t forget goggles! Also the little restaurant has amazing breakfast sandwiches! 10/10

I would highly recommend this place. We booked a spot here for two nights because some other plans that we had fell through. I'm really glad that we stayed here.
If you like to swim, kayak or tube this is the place to come to! Its also good for walking
We came on an off-season I'm sure that it can get very busy here but I would still stay here anytime.
We pull a 35 ft fifth wheel We had a pull through site there was plenty of room.

Beautiful springs, so gorgeous!!! The staff were helpful and kind.
The facilities were decent.
The noise of loud campers went way past the quiet hours and no one was enforcing so camping was challenging in that way. Some visitors absolutely trashed their campsites and there was generally a significant amount of trash around which was sad. We went the first week of April and there were so many primitive campsites available which was great! Next time I’ll camp by the lower springs because it seems quieter down that way.

Very nice campgrounds, from full service to tent sites, river tubing, kayak and canoe rentals. Good swimming. Well maintained facilities. Very good service and staff.
I will return and would recommend to others. They need to have someone run a golf cart shuttle for tubing clients upstream. That would make it five stars.

We all had a great time! A bit expensive for a large family @ 20.00 pp+ rental of tub or snorkel set (unless you bring your own). They do have an air station for tubes. Very clean bathroom and showers. There's also soap dispenser in the showers which is nice. The staff is also friendly and helpful which is a definite plus!! They also offer different types camping. We will be back to camp next time.
Thanks for reading

The springs are beautiful, the water is so clear you can see all the way to the bottom. They have inner tubes kayaks and paddle boards that you can rent for the day and free life vest rentals or bring your own. You can swim in the springs or float down the river to one of the pickup points. It a great place for the whole family to spend the day or even go camping.

Ginnie Springs is a beautiful place to visit, with clear water and fantastic scenery that offers unforgettable views. While it can be crowded at certain times of the year, it's worth it for the overall experience. The camp sites are well-organized and comfortable amenities are readily available, making it perfect for an extended stay. Overall, I had a great time visiting Ginnie Springs. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a serene getaway in a naturally beautiful area.

Really enjoyed a family day trip here. Plenty of bathrooms available. Floating in the river was really relaxing. Going into the springs was really chilly but well worth it. The water is beautiful. Just be aware that the deli closes at 3. So, if you want to order food there, keep an eye on time. The food we had was great, though.

Visited Ginnie Springs during the last Saturday of July and had the most fun but there because I went with goood company and made the most out of it however there were many things that could have been better. I would highly recommend coming early as the line was long at 11 AM and it took around 30 minutes to get into the park. I would highly recommend to bring your own floats and pump. Unfortunately, during our visit the rental floats was closed by 12 PM due to an unfortunate broken pump and we had to purchase the inflatables for $23. We also had to wait in a long line to inflate the inflatables and the air pumps were very slow and some broken. The July heat did not make it enjoyable but the cold water spring was very refreshing once we got in. The spring was very packed with campers and daily visitors so be aware of the time of your visit. The water was extremely beautiful once you get in but it gets a yellow/dark brown once you reach the main river. We encountered some turtles while floating and had the most fun. Be aware if you plan to bring children as people do like to enjoy some natural herbs at the park. I would love to visit the spring during Winter and compare it to my July visit.
Things I recommend bringing: water shoes are a must, pump and floats, waterproof phone/keys case, ropes to tie floats together to stay together, glasses, hats and sunscreen.
Water and food is priced according to the area you are visiting so I would recommend bringing a cooler with your own water and food.

So disappointed in our most recent trip. It is such a shame that such a beautiful place could be destroyed so quickly. The campground was extremely dirty and noisy. Each site was filled with 3-6 tents, 10-30 people, and 4-6 cars. Most of the people were extremely inconsiderate and blared thier music into the morning. There was definitely a language barrier that made cooperation from the other campers a challenge. There was an RV in our site and multiple cars in the site next to it. Took 3 hours for them to unkindly move from our reserved site so we could pull in and hook up. It is definitely not just a college student hangout problem anymore. If you go there, you'll see what I mean. This is not the Ginnie I remember nor will ever come back to.

This was our first time here. We didn't get a lot of pictures but we very much enjoyed our visit and we will be back. We took a dip in each of the springs. Bath houses/bathrooms were clean and the water was wonderfully hot! Highly recommend a visit. We drove up from Ocala. Totally worth it! If your looking to camp, there are MANY awesome campsite all over with fire pita and grills and tables.

The park itself was amazing, the activities were great; however the response of the employees to my family member drowning was absolutely devastating and disappointing.
We understood that we signed a waiver and how we swim at our own risk; however, this was an actual drowning and emergency. My father got a cramp in his leg and fell off of the floating tube and was unable to get back on and was being dragged by the current in the river.
When we reached out for help because my father was struggling and clearly drowning in the river, the employees response was “we cannot help him unless he is drowning” which he clearly was, and everyone saw it.
We then asked if we could call 911 and they said “well, if you want to” which was astonishing, meanwhile my father was drowning in the river with no one able to help because the current was taking him further down.
The employees then said “we are working on it, we are waiting for our supervisor”… I’m sorry what? Someone is clearly in distress, drowning in front of everyone, and we are waiting for your supervisor?
My family and I ran to follow my father along and yelled at others to help us, and it is completely crazy how the people there were the ones helping us rather than the employees.
People ready to jump and help us and they were “waiting on their supervisor”.
We are eternally grateful for the help we got from the family that had the boat and was able to help him before a tragedy happened.
It was such a traumatic experience and we wish the employees had been a bit more empathetic and helpful as they heard the children of a man yell “save my dad”, the wife, and others break down as they see their loved one drowning.
As mentioned, everything else was great and a great experience but I wish such situations would be handled differently.
It was traumatizing for everyone involved along with other viewers and it would’ve helped if the employees handled our distress differently.

Everything about Ginnie Springs is 10/10! Plenty of bathroom and shower facilities, consistent hot water, free air for their tubes or your own which is nice! They have a deli cafe and the food was good. There was a very nice lady who came out and double checked that my well done/burnt burger was just how I ordered it and liked it and said they would keep on cooking it if it wasn't! We had cool neighbors. The springs are very beautiful and also kid and family friendly. All of this keeps us coming back to camp here.

Nice experience. Campsite good for us but people next to us were on a very slanted site and it was hard to level their camper. Snorkeling was great. Bathouse pretty good. Don't understand why no pets...? Overall though I would recommend. Felt very safe. Well kept grounds. Helpful staff.

Beautiful springs to swim and float in. Crystal clear springs witch lead to river float. Bathrooms are kept up, and the office/store has everything you need. There are tons of tent spots on the water and a bunch of electric/ water sites. Can get packed but still a great spot for the multiple springs.

Park featuring a 6-mi. river with summer tubing through wetlands, wildlife sightings & snorkeling.
We visited during the winter off season and it was absolutely amazing! There were barely any others visiting, so the river was quiet and pristine. We saw lots of wildlife, including birds, turtles, and even some manatees (they frequent the area upriver of Midpoint).
Note that they don’t allow you to bring any disposable items (snacks, bottled water) so make sure to bring a reusable water bottle to stay hydrated.
Definitely recommend for all ages and levels of experience. We were in a party of 8 with both adults and pre-teen/teenage children, with little experience kayaking, and it was awesome.

Top notch springs. Clean, clear, comfortable temperature water. There's an abundance of various fish in the springs - nothing scary. The underwater views are stunning. There's more to the park than just the springs and river. The trails are nice and so is the picnic/BBQ area.

I recently kayaked here and walked around on the trails. The rental kayak pricing was reasonable. I paddled upstream and then turned around and floated back. The current is quick in a couple spots. Saw a bunch of wildlife along the way, including a manatee. The tubing looked fun too. I'd recommend a visit if you are considering and are in North Central Florida.

May 13, 2022 a Friday. It was a perfect day with little people traffic. We floated down twice. So peaceful...you heard the birds and just a little talk ftom the people ahead. Water temp was nice-- not too cold like we expected. Highly recommend! Just be sure to spray down with sunscreen and bring water in an aluminum or reusable container. NOT allowed to have disposable containers NOR food on the water!!!! There is a small restaurant that serves burgers dogs, chicken sandwich, fries, sodas at a fair price. Enjoy🙂

I have no words!!! Amazing!! We paddled the river and absolutely enjoyed it until we got to the area where we shared the river with people tubing. Then it was crowded and loud. But it's gorgeous and straight out of a fairy tale! We will be back! And we saw Manatees! Made my daughters birthday extra special.

Tubing is a blast! The way to go is to buy the tram ticket and get your own tubes. Renting a kayak is fun too although as someone experienced in kayaking, it's not easy to paddle upstream. Tons of wildlife to see even though it is crowded. If you aren't swimming at all to get on and off the tram and float takes about 2 hours in total. There are alligators but if you don't bother them, they won't bother you. Most saw were upstream where tubers aren't allowed. Bathrooms are clean and the staff is friendly.

Loved it. Much less crowded and quieter than nearby Ginnie Springs. River is an easy and beautiful paddle. The trail to get to Blue Hole Spring (also known as Jug Spring by cave divers) is very easy. Water clarity there is outstanding. Bring a noodle, mask, snorkel, and underwater camera/GoPro. There is a wooden dock with stairs leading directly into the water. Cost is only $6 per vehicle to enter.

Nice springs, crystal clear water. We went there on a Sunday afternoon. It was packed. The bottom of the spring (the one for people to swim) is full of rocks and it is very slippery. Be careful if you bring little ones. Our 3 year old son loved playing on the stairs, didn’t get into the water much.

What an amazing place. Water is so blue and perfect. Everyone had the best time. We decided to walk to the drop off place instead of paying 7.50 a piece for the shuttle and it really wasn't that bad. Been coming here since I was a little kid growing up in Gainesville. It's always a pleasure to come back with visiting family or friends to experience it. Especially for the first time.
We did the Kayak rental with the shuttle to the North drop-off. The current was strong but we got to see an incredible amount of wildlife.
The staff was friendly and helpful. Can't wait to come back again soon! Also impressive to note how much the park has changed in the 20 years I've been going there.
Everything is well maintained and the appropriate upgrades are being made. Keep it up!

This place is beautiful. It’s a fun 2 hour float at the south entrance that you can see through the crystal clear water. It’s $5 to get through the gate or $2 military. The tube prices vary from $7-20 and then you can ride the tram for $7 or walk the scenic trail for free. The receipt will get you into the north entrance about 10 minutes away for free where you can go to the swimming hole or snorkel over the underwater cave. It’s so fun.
The tube in my picture was $10 and it had a bottom and a head rest. Because the water was cold and I’m a sissy. Lol

My happy place but it's actually real and not just in my head. there really isn't words to describe the absolute beauty in this natural cold spring. Once the sun is at 11am you can witness a color that is rarely seen in person anywhere. The hole for the cavern is more covered than years ago but seems to have stronger flow. Didn't see the managers this year. Math next time

This was yet another amazing experience. The north side of the park is pretty cool. It has some decent hiking trail. The entire walk is shaded and you have different areas throughout the hike where you can sit and rest. There is a nice little restaurant on site where you can get food and an adult beverage and they offer kayaks and floating tubes for rent onsite at a decent price. We took our own kayak and there is a spot close by the launch site where you can park and unload your kayaks or canoes. The water is beautiful and somewhat COLD. The kayaking was great. Most of the area is pretty shaded but you have a long stretch where there is no shade. Watching the turtles in the water as you go down the river is pretty cool. There is a pretty strong current going downstream so coming back up was absolutely terrible but it was worth it.

What a great state park! We headed in the offseason. I'm glad we did. We had seen some videos on YouTube where it is an absolute Zoo during the summer. If you want some exercise start at the bottom at the Darien drop in. Paddle up stream from there about one and a half miles. And you can have a nice leisurely drift back down. The water is so clear so manatees otters and alligator gar.

Love this place! I walked the Midpoint trail and it's 1.5 miles to the ramp for tubing! If you are tubing you might want to consider the tram! On a hot day that is a long hike with your tube JS! Tubing is so much fun here so you must come and enjoy it! All ages! Very safe and lots of fun and relaxation!

Last stop on our 18 day vacation camping trip, we visited Ichetucknee for the very first time. I booked a tandem kayak for the river, and I was TOTALLY impressed with the service. You can call the state park store or visit there to book your river trip. They will offer you different distances (we took the 1-2.5 hr trip) and they drive you to the launch point, provide you with the kayak, life jackets, and oars. They even launch you (I opted to have the "slide" launch into the water). You float downstream, so no need to paddle, just course corrections. You can take as little or as long as you want, as long as you are off the river by 6:00P. When we got to the end, the driver was already there to pick us up. You don't have to haul the kayak anywhere, and they take you back to the parking lot where you started on an open-air tram like Disney World used to have from their parking lots. They even give you a necklace with their number in case the driver isn't there, and you just call them and they come and get you. The trams run pretty regularly though, and like I said we were picked up as soon as we finished. All that for $65 (I got a 10% Veterans discount so I paid $59)- thats for two people since it was a tandem kayak. The river, is absolutely gorgeous, and this is considered one of the premiere tubing locations in the United States. Now, we visited in late October, but I hear in the summer they actually have to close off the gates in the morning because it gets to capacity so fast. We were very happy with the kayaking, and I would recommend going in the fall / winter...

The springs are great but as far as handicap accessible....it is not. There are nice ramps that anyone with a drivers license could back down to but instead there are carts with flat tires and no help from the people you pay to drop you off they sell drinks and food at the country store but you cant take them on the river. And Im not sure what kind of "wildlife you can take home in your cooler" and that's why they arnt allowed but that's ridiculous. I could deal withall that but the lack of close facilities and an easy way for disabled people to get themselves and their kayak to the water make this a no gofor me in the future. Great spings.....horrible layout by the state. Im a FL resident and expected more from my state and my taxes.

There is playgrounds and rest areas along with picnic areas and grills. There's also a meals on Wheels vehicle out there if you brought a little extra cash and don't feel like cooking food.

We decided to check the water springs and I have to say it’s beautiful, we love it . Now every time we go visit Florida we will stop on one day and look for some . Definitely recommend it so peaceful.
Riverside state park dedicated to composer with a museum, camping, trails, craft square & gift shop.
Great park. Our first stay here was in 2020 right at the height of the pandemic. Our second stay was yesterday and unfortunately it was only an overnight stay. One day we will be back to enjoy the park for longer than a day. It’s clean and well kept and the sites a pretty big.

Very nice park. Wish the roads were a bit better and things were open to view and walk around. There is no one at the front gate, you just grab your sticky note and go to your site, so if you have any issues or questions no one is there. There is a camp host on site if you need wood or something. Dump station was better than most we’ve been to. Sites are nice and big but all sand (as is with most all Florida parks).

Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park is a true hidden treasure! This park is a perfect blend of nature and culture, offering a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
The park's lush greenery, beautiful Suwannee River, and gardens make it an ideal place for a relaxing day out. The carillon tower is a unique attraction.
I am going back for Memorial Day Weekend because the park host The Folk Music Festival for those days and various events and festivals that celebrate the folk culture.
I highly recommend Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park for a day of exploration, relaxation, and cultural appreciation. It's a true gem in Florida!

Intrigued by the charm of Florida's hidden gems, I embarked on a journey to uncover the mysteries lurking beneath the surface. My first stop: the enigmatic Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center State Park in White Springs. As I wandered through the park, the Spanish moss swayed in the breeze, casting mysterious shadows over the historic statues that dotted the landscape.
But it wasn't just the beauty of the surroundings that captured my attention – it was the sense of history that seemed to linger in the air. The friendly woman at the Park Ranger ticket booth shared information about the park & surrounding area, hinting at the history deep within its depths.
With caution, I ventured further into the park, mindful of the "beware of alligators" signs that served as a stark reminder of the dangers that lurked nearby. Yet, undeterred, I pressed on, drawn to the water's edge where the river hiking trail beckoned.
As I walked, the lush foliage provided a canopy of shade overhead, shielding me from the scorching Florida sun. But amidst the tranquility, questions lingered in my mind: What secrets lay hidden within these ancient trees? What stories had they witnessed over the years?
Lost in thought, I found myself pondering the mysteries of this secluded oasis. And as I continued my journey, I couldn't help but wonder: What happened here?

For a quiet park to camp or stay in a cabin. This is a great place.
There are many areas for picnics, a good playground, clean bathrooms, access to the river and hiking trails, RV sites and camping sites.
Outside of the gates you'll find the tiny town of White Springs, there are a few spots for essentials and groceries. There is also a canoe rental place in the town that allows you to go anywhere on the river & be returned to the site by a van ride. I loved this as within minutes we were back to the park.
We saw many deer each day in the park and really enjoyed the quiet of the area. We walked the trails, enjoyed the river, explored the museums centered around composer Stephen Foster.
The museums are free with admission and while dated, they house a great many pianos that I really enjoyed seeing. There is a good bit of information about the composer. One is a standalone colonial looking building, the other is at the base of the carillon which is being repaired so we did not hear it play.
We drove through the RV & camping area which was very clean and quiet. We stayed in a cabin and absolutely loved it. A big wrap around porch, fire pit outside, picnic table. It was a great hub for our explorations of the area.
For a day park visit, there is a nice playground for the younger ones, you can get down to the river to walk the shore. There are a great many hiking trails that we were interested in but ran out of time to see.
There is an exhibitions area where we thoroughly enjoyed an in-depth look into blacksmith work. The artist created the works while sat and chatted. They answered questions and we got a full presentation in a very relaxed and real fashion. Loved that.
A series of small buildings along a winding road allows for multiple types of exhibitions to be going on at any time. Check the site to see what is in town. I believe these are mainly for weekends.
There is a large pavilion by the river that anyone can use and a canoe / kayak boat ramp that is still being worked on but looks near completion and should be ready for use soon.
This park is also the site of music festivals, so check the calendar before you go, or you may find very large crowds. We hear they are very popular and fun. Looks like a great place to hear music and hang out.
There was also a small gift shop that we did not get around to visiting. There was free Wi-Fi around this building which I am sure is helpful to some.
Loved our visit. Will return.

Stephen Foster Park provides a multi faceted experience for any person or family. From the old springhouse to the museums, folk center and the trails, there is enough to do to fill days.
You will learn a lot more than you would expect, definitely worth a stop, and even a return visit!

We rented two cabins for a family gathering and it was wonderful! This the second time we have rented here. The cabins are great! There are wrap around porches, they are clean ans suitable for an active family. The kitchen has what you need including modern cooktops, a small microwave and a dishwasher. The cooktop controls are low so watch out for your little ones.
You can get supplies in town, whatever you forgot. There is a code to get back in after hours. They have great activities at different times of year. These are generally weekends, as far as we could tell.
We got firewood for the pit at the store which was really convenient. Our only disappointment was we hit the between time from converting the fireplaces from gas to electric, so we missed getting to use them.
We had a great time, given the hiking trails, the river, historical museum and bell tower. We found out belatedly that dogs are ok at the campground but not the cabins. We were given grace this one time. It is not obvious in the written materials I read beforehand.
That said, overall it is an awesome state park!

Yeah there's some trails, a playground and a place to launch kayaks. The river is a bit high and fast to kayak with children. There are a lot of things that are damaged and blocked off or taped off. The area to launch kayaks was not great, it's a pretty long way down stairs to get to the water, and the launch itself is concrete stairs going into the river. There are Christmas light displays left up around the park, apparently year round. The campground is clean, and the camp staff are friendly. There are volunteers who help kids do crafts. We saw dear, and apparently there are lots of gopher tortoises around to see. At a visitor center there are bags of things for kids to check out, including binoculars, a book of nature identification for Florida, and net to catch bugs and a little magnified container to put a bug in. The visitors center had one of those Elkay water bottle fillers, which are great. I just really wish the restroom buildings had them as well. There were decent restrooms with men's and women's and each also had two single / family occupancy, which are great if you need to bathe your small children. The park is pretty dog friendly, although you can't take your dog (pets) inside buildings. There are lots of great picnic areas even outside the campground area. There are beautiful pink flowers all over the place in the spring.
The camp sites are spacious. There is only one 30 amp plug in for campers and two standard outlets like in your home that you could plug a coffee maker into with an extension cord for example, if you've ever had trouble with your camper pulling too much power from the 30 amp and tripping the breaker or blowing a fuse.

This is a very nice park. Most camping sites are big enough for larger rigs. Bathhouse was nice and well taken care of. Park Ranger Watkins was awesome! She took lots of time with my grandkids explaining her job and responsibilities. Helped them to become Jr. Park Rangers. They were so thrilled!! Again a big thanks to Ranger Watkins!!!

We camped here for 5 days, our site was big but it was overgrown and it needs a good cleaning, the picnic table was full of dirt, spiders and other bugs and be careful when opening the electrical box, there were several bugs nests and a couple of spiders, while it's a "wild" area, it would be nice if it was cleaned up a little better. Even though it was overgrown, there were openings between sites that take away some privacy. The site was pretty leveled, I only needed to level the passenger side a little bit. Overall I think the park was great and may come back but will try to choose a better site.
Good hiking areas! Kayaking! We also visited the tower and the Craft Village.

We stayed here for two weeks in December 2022. It was central to a number of fresh water springs we wanted to see. It was a nice campground. It was quiet. There were good bathhouses with really hot hot water. (They are however not heated, not a big deal in Florida most of the time but we came during a particularly cold December 😁) There are washer and dryers at the bathhouses but about half of them were out of order when we visited. Also they kayak launch was closed off. The sites were nice and most provided a reasonable amount of privacy. There were woodpeckers and armadillos to see. Watch out for ticks here, we saw a few even in December. We didn't get to see the cultural center while we were there. The town is very small but they do have a nice Dollar General with Groceries if you forgot something. It is also close to interstate 75.

Awesome place to visit while in White Springs . Very close to the old store and town center. This is a State Park located on the Swannie River. There are Camping areas ,cabins for rent and a park store. Fishing is allowed in the park. No luck fishing with red worms . Crickets and minnows are sold at the old store.

We arrived for a one night stay in the campground about 3:30. We had a very hard time finding the “store” where we were to check in. The actual check in process was very easy and quick. We had just enough time to visit the Stephen Foster museum and while there were able to direct another lost camper to the check in building.
Our campsite #44, is a pull through spot. Very secluded. The campground seems quiet, but we are here on a Monday for only 1 night.
The restrooms are clean. Very clean!! The water pressure is good, more powerful than at home. There are 2 louvered screened openings for ventilation. I was afraid the room would be too cold but it was not. The outdoor temperature was 53°. There was a light and heat lamp in the shower area that warmed the bathroom well. Along with the hot water I was actually hot at the end of my shower.
I wish we were staying longer on this trip. I definitely want to come back.

New camper check in procedures!
Great park, this is my second visit here. They recently added new trails, but be aware that if you take the access roads, they may be very wet! The museum has trail maps, but I also suggest downloading the offline Google maps before you travel. I have Verizon and had no cell issues though.
When I was here in 2021 the check-in was at the entrance. There is a new procedure for 2024.
Drive in, go around the tower to the camp/craft store, park to the left in the back side of the museum, follow the signs for the craft store/firewood, and you tell them your spot and name. Too easy (if you know this, I did not, haha).
If you enter the trail from the septic dump, it is dry and well marked, but if you are wanting to go for a mileage, watch your markers (trails are skinny, access roads are wide).
Either commit to the whole trail, or turn back when you achieved 1/2 the distance of your journey. This will ensure you don't need access roads to return, because they may be wet (see pictures).
People are very pleasant, I loved my last visit here, this visit was just as nice!
Enjoy the blacksmith exhibit (also behind there you can access the trailhead), the river gazebo, and the canoe launch, just beautiful!
Also if you geocach, there are a few here, just saying!!
Enjoy!

The ranger station is never open and I found it difficult to communicate and get information even arriving during their operating hours. I actually didn't figure out the tag system until the next day when I walked back to the ranger station and finally saw the signs directing me to a paper tag stuck on an information board. Also, they had the canoe launch closed with warnings that the river was too high even though it was only at 62' and their own sign said it wasn't dangerous until 65'. And I still couldn't even find a ranger to ask about it. The only reason we chose this campground was to use our kayak. Very disappointed. Doubt we'll be back.

Two night camp trip to this historic park. Site 27 was in the back of the campground and secluded. Well-kept, bathhouse and campsites. They were getting ready for a Christmas light show in the park was decorated with thousands of lights for Christmas. We rented a canoe that left from the park and headed 5 miles down stream. did a little bit of bike riding and some hiking. Highly recommended if you’re in this part of the state.

Manatee Springs State Park is a popular destination for divers and snorkelers due to its clear-water spring, home to West Indian manatees. Visitors can enjoy the 72F crystalline waters of the spring or explore the 8.5-mile-long North End hiking/cycling trail on land. Scuba diving is also available at the springhead, with 117 million gallons of water per day gushing out.
This is one of the most beautiful campgrounds in the Florida. I have been to Genie Springs for camping but Manatee is underrated and I believe it's better than most of the springs and campgrounds. It's great if you make a booking in advance. The spring was not that good as compared to others but the camping experience was memorable. They provide water and electricity, it could have been better if they could provide a garbage can as well. I am sharing some pictures.

We came here to visit in the beginning of June. We did not see any manatees but when we arrived around 9a.m. we were pleased to find that there was hardly anyone at the park. It was 6$ per vehicle to park here and it looks like there is a lot of campsites here as well. The trees are beautiful and provide lots of shade from the hot sun. Dogs are not allowed in a lot of places in near the springs but they are allowed in the water only at the boat launch dock. Our dog loved dipping his toes in the water. The water was beautiful and serene in the early morning. Very refreshing on a hot day. We will be back here for sure!

This was a fun day adventure out of Cedar Key. The springs are great for swimming. Might be busy, but still plenty of room and deep water to swim in. Bring your mask, snorkel and fins. Family friendly. Easy kayak launch. Camping and fishing opportunities. We loved it!

Really beautiful park. Plenty of shade in the campground, not a lot of privacy between sites. Nice canoe/kayak launch. Decent boardwalk to river. Playground, concession stand and bathroom near spring. Dayuse area picnic tables with grills.

Beautiful place! The clear blue water and green algae in the bottom of the spring makes a beautiful picture. We got to see some manatees and it was so magical. Make sure to bring your snorkel to see them under water but give them space. We camped at the Hickory Loop, only for tents so no noise of motors running day and night. There are several nice and shady spaces and the walk to the spring is short. The only downside is that the restrooms could use an upgrade, the showers were small and uncomfortable. Other than that everything was great!

Overview: This is one of the best springs on the west coast of Florida. It has it all: camping RV and tent, swimming, playground, picnic area, and hiking. There is a private company that rents out canoes and kayaks too. What to know: There is an RV side and a tent side for camping. You can tent camp on the RV side. You can not launch a boat from inside the park, but there is a ramp not far to do so. You can dock a boat at the entrance to the park just off the Suwannee. Bathrooms and showers at the campgrounds and next to the spring. The swimming area is only allowed at the head of the spring. A good amount of hiking and biking trails. I know there was a snack shack and a store located next to the spring head at one time. However, the store is no longer there, and I did not see the snack shack open during my visit.

Great camping. Clean restrooms and camp sites. No cell phone service, which is really great for anyone wanting to get away without interruptions. Wildlife everywhere, deer will walk through the camp sites. The Rangers are really nice and very informative on everything. Someone gave a 2* review recently and the reasoning were things that are in clear fine print on a form the Rangers ask you to read to inform you of the rules, it's all there, horrible reason to leave a bad review.😢😢😢 Overall, love this place. Will be back soon and recommend. 😁😁😁😁😁

We spent a good two hours there in late November. The air is refreshing and cool. The temperature is very comfortable, not cold or hot. A few folks were swimming and most, like us, enjoyed walking through the boardwalk. The park ranger gave my kid a lesson on vultures and I also learned a lot. The park is a popular camp site. We saw tents. We hope to go back there to explore more trails.

Fantastic! Had so much fun camping, swimming, and paddling Manatee Springs with our two kids and dog. Saw tons of wildlife from deer, to armadillo, hawks, muskrat, alligator, and of course a manatee. Lots of ticks in the area, still finding them in our gear 4 days later. Campsites and facilities are clean, staff is super friendly and the springs are really amazing. Can’t wait to come back when the boardwalk is rebuilt!

Manatee Springs State Park it’s an excellent location to visit. We made a brief stop over and enjoyed the boardwalk and saw a good 15 to 20 manatees lounging about in the water. There was plenty of other wildlife around as well even though it was in the middle of December, the camping options look great and the price of admission was quite low at six dollars per vehicle. I would definitely come again.

Beautiful springs in Chiefland. Great for swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and fishing. Park admission was fairly cheap and staff was very pleasant. Lots of shaded areas to cook out on the grills provided by the park. They have large pavilions as well that can be used for cook outs, gatherings, etc. There were restrooms for the public here. They also have kayak and canoe rentals if you do not have your own. Little shop that has cold drinks and food and some souvenirs. There is also camping here on site for tents and rvs. Found this was less crowded and more enjoyable than some of the other springs. There also some hiking trails here. Great place to spend the weekend with friends, family, or even alone.

Tons nature, lots of wildlife, I recommend going to the dock for sunrise it's stunning. Don't expect to use your phone for much of anything but pictures because you don't have signal.

This is where you want to visit to see manatees! In winter the manatees will migrate up river and into this area. You can walk on a board walk mostly just above the springs tributary and see them. However, you should really consider renting a canoe or kayak! They're totally worth the price and you'll see so much more. Hiking trails are available but the water features are the best. The day use area has a code but campgrounds have restrooms with showers and no code.

Absolutely beautiful place to swim and cool off. We brought pool noodles to help the kids stay afloat while snorkeling. There's a little bit of a current so keep that in mind with younger children. We saw two manatees (a mother and a baby!) but they were in the canoe/kayak launch area. We did see two water snakes (non-venomous) and a baby snapping turtle! The park staff were working on updating the little concession stand there. Also a fun playground and lots of picnic areas. I think we preferred this park over Fanning Springs, but Fanning is right on the bike trail so it's easier to get to if you're not driving a car. Both were worthy of a stop for sure!

It's one of my favorite springs to go to. My mom would bring me here as a child, so I have a lot of good memories here. The park has made many nice improvements and continues to make great improvements. The boardwalk to the river was closed due to construction, which is a good sign. We went today for a nice hike through the park and found lots of trails to choose from. If you are going hiking, be sure to take a trail map with you as the trails are not marked out as well as they should be. At intersection in the middle of the woods, you will need to look at the map to see where to go as some intersections are not marked. However, the hiking trails are very nice and smooth and would be great for biking. Which is our plan next time we visit the park. They had volunteer park ranger out riding his bike on the trails, checking in on you, which was very nice. There is lots of evidence of wildlife throughout the hike. Lots and lots of deer tracks. We ended up walking 6 miles total, so make sure you bring lots of water. There are a couple of benches along the trails but very little compared to other trails we have been on. I would definitely recommend this hike if you are looking to get a nice long walk-in. And of course I recommend the park and spring it is absolutely beautiful. Can't wait to see the boardwalk when it is all done.

One of my favorite FL State parks! clean restroom facilities and I always see a few manatees. The boardwalk is currently closed (as of April 2024) for reconstruction, but I'm sure it'll be amazing. For now, rent a kayak or canoe, and the trails are beautiful~

We had a nice 2 night stay at this state park. We had a back-in full hook-up site which was large enough for our 36' fifth wheel. Though the road through the campground is narrow. Fortunately, our site was by the entrance to the loop and we went out the way we came in. The staff was friendly and helpful. We enjoyed seeing the manatees just off the boardwalk, where we could see them easily. Though others were swimming with them, it was too cold for us! Very quiet park!

Another experience we will never forget is staying at Manatee Springs State Park. Being able to walk to see the Manatee every day was incredible! The gentle giants were so mesmerizing and just gave a sense of awe and peace. We chose to rent a kayak one day and to get that up close and personal with them was beyond words. I probably took 100 pictures!!
There were also great hiking trails and bike paths to enjoy. Our dogs loved the daily walks through the park. The bathrooms were very clean and nice, my only comment would be that there were 2 gigantic fans in them that made it a little chilly, my husband thought it might be a humidity thing?? We do have an RV but always prefer to shower in the perks restrooms. Because we were there in December they were quick showers!!
The staff was very friendly and efficient, we had 2 days of a pouring rainstorm and when we could finally get out they were working very hard at making it seem as if nothing had happened!
We will definitely return to the park again and highly recommend it to anyone.

This is an amazing place. Not as fancy as some of the other springs like Silver springs, but that makes it all the more worth it for us. Of course there is the spring itself, plenty of manatees that even enter into the swimming area but there’s also some lovely walking trails where you’ll likely meet some deer and armadillo’s. We spent some nights glamping in the park, highly recommend it.

Cedar Key Museum State Park is a charming 18-acre park in Cedar Key, Florida. It features a museum that offers insights into the port and railway history of the area. The centerpiece of the park is the restored 1920s home of regional resident Saint Clair Whitman, showcasing its historic early-20th century appearance and decor. The museum exhibits include collections of sea shells and artifacts from indigenous groups displayed by Whitman during his time.
This is the 1st ever museum in Cedar Key. Run by the State, very well kept, clean bathrooms and the surrounding area. The volunteers are very nice, friendly, and informative. Trail Park is awesome. We made a quick stop to this state park while in Cedar Key. The museum felt like a step back in time...70's. 🤔. The display cases provided a look at the many shells found in Florida, some of Florida's history as it relates to the Cedar Key area, and a building on site which was not open due to construction of a ramp...soon to be a teaching location with rooms to view of the historical house. The park ranger was friendly and the building was clean, but dated.

Nice Florida state park. It has a nature trail, St. Clair Whitman historic home, and an information center museum with displays and staff to answer questions. There are a few items outside to look at as well as places to sit and clean restrooms. For a small fee (or free with your state park pass) you can come to this peaceful quiet park. Whether you explore the history, learn more from the staff, walk the trails or just sit and relax on the front porch rocking chairs or a bench listening to the birds, you will enjoy coming here.

It's closed for maintenance. That's something I wished would of been posted before driving 2 hours to get here. House is open. Museum is the only thing closed. Will reopen the museum sometime after July 2024. Nature walk was great. Mobility scooters are welcome.

Limited hours. Drove all the way from Ga. The park office next door was closed due to mold. A few relics on the grounds.

Drove 2 hours to go see the museum at the state park. It's closed, it does not state that on the web. Site, it would be nice if the state of Florida could take the time in the effort to post that it's closed so that people like us don't spend their hard-earned gas money driving over 2 hours to find out it's not open.

This park and museum offers the perfect break from the hustle and bustle of the tourist district of Cedar Key proper. The spacious grounds have lovely shade trees of oak and pine with a short nature trail with lovely views of the adjacent estuary and mangrove habitat. The fresh air and quietness of this location is rejuvenating.
Perfect weather for a perfect day. The rides were nice and the lines weren't long. The holiday show the elves performed were fantastic!

Me and my family had an amazing time this past weekend. The workers are very nice and helpful, even when they are busy. We stayed in cabin 11A, it was clean, we loved the area it was in.. My kids said they liked the fact, that after everything is closed down they got to go to the field and play.. There were so many kids just running around playing, having a good time. This place is so kid friendly..Me personally I loved that they rented out golfcart at an affordable price!! We will be back!!!!

First time staying, and I highly recommend this place. We were only staying 1 night before moving further South, and they assigned us to a Big Rig site to accommodate my RV and 2 friends trucks. What an awesome, family oriented campground. The children’s play areas are phenomenal. Campsites are spacious. The people are super friendly. Will definitely be stopping by on my next route through.

Took my 11 year old son to Ragan’s family campground for Easter weekend with family friends. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. The kitchen was fully equipped and beds were comfortable and we had AC. The kids had a blast playing GAGA ball and at the water slide. Adults had a great time fishing, sitting around the fire and playing bingo and other games.
The campgrounds are clean, quiet and safe. We will definitely come back and would highly recommend!

We had the best time! Amazing staff, lots of things for the kids to do, and very friendly people were there while we were which made things even better. My only complaint is they were short life guards and would only open the slide for two hours a day, which is definitely a main attraction for the kids.

This family campground is huge and well kept! Although, it has the feel of a quaint little campground! For us it was a blessing as we had evacuated from hurricane Ian with only our most treasured stuff and a change of clothes! We were greeted and treated like family, not guests! Kristi was wonderful with our check in process she immediately called Ms.Diana for assistance. She was courteous and kind even though; I knew she didn't feel her best. Zelda was so nice to go get our firewood. The campground was quiet and relaxing; especially the lighted fountain in the lake! After, driving all day it was nice to relax before bed. Check out was a breeze as well, Ms. Becky was so compassionate and caring she wished us a safe trip home & she makes amazing coffee! Thank you again to Ragans for going the extra mile, they offered true Customer Service!

The Pros-
The property is beautiful. The surrounding property is serene. We hiked just around the property for hours during our stay. The staff is friendly and more than willing to answer questions. My son enjoyed the large inflated bounce space and the biggest tether ball set you'll ever see.
The Cons -
There was raw sewage pouring out into the ground about 15 feet from our BBQ grill and front patio. Twice during our stay we flagged down men on golf carts and pointed the issue out to them who told us they would get the manager and be back. Neither time did anyone come back to the cabin to check out or fix the issue. Speaking of "cabin" the original cabin we had booked had been changed to a "nice cabin" as I was told in the phone before arrival. What we arrived to was a very tiny space that had 2 sets of bunks in a closet sized space and almost the entirety of the space was taken up by a double bed. There were 3 of us and to think that nearly twice the amount of people are allowed to stay in the tiny space has to be a fire hazard, especially since the fire ring was 6 feet from the steps. The inside smelled so bad. They had two commercial sized air fresheners mounted in the 10x15(ish) space making it smell even worse and immediately causing a headache to both my son, and I. When we checked out we, again, mentioned the raw sewage, but this time to the office ladies who were horrified.
I would advise anyone making reservations to not book any of the cabins on the 10 row. The water park area was not open even though all of the fountains inside we're going making it appears open. The pool was open, but the pool floor was slimy and covered in algae. The zero entry was actually slippery and dangerous.

We went for a day adventure on the hottest day recorded. July 3, 2023. I spent the entire day on the lazy river with my grandchildren floating... it was amazing! My 13 year old son wouldn't stay off the slide.... he was so happy! Thank you for this adventure. It was more than wonderful. So stoked to make plans to come again with our Ranger, Camper, Friends and Family..... Yay!

If you are planning to stay in the cabins, this review is for you:
First, the website has a list of items the rustic include and do not include. If you missed it like I did, do not be surprised when you get there and realize that the rustic cabins DO NOT HAVE A BATHROOM OR ANY RUNNING WATER AT ALL. I feel like that needs to be explained much better on the website. The only things in the rustic cabins (aka sheds) is a microwave, coffee maker, a small chair, a bed frame made of 2x4s and plywood, and mattresses from the 80s that have the worst holy plastic covering over them with a little dirt sprinkled on top (no flooring, no walls aside from all plywood). The door is locked on the outside by a master lock and on the inside by a lock you'd see in a bathroom that holds the bathroom stalls locked. Thankfully when we stayed here, our friends were with us so we just bunked with them in their RV. I would not have felt comfortable sleeping in a shed with mattresses that appeared to have been slept on by thousands of people. I did bring my concern about the mattresses up to the front desk the first day we were there but was informed they didn't have any new mattresses and when I said they looked like they were from the 80s she said, "yeah they probably are." I also called after we left for the weekend to ensure management knew that we did not stay in their "cabin" and let them know it was time for a remodeling of them, they just said okay, we will tell the management. As for the activities, my kids enjoyed the tie dying of t-shirts and the pool area. This pool area is quite old and dated but it served its purpose of entertainment. This whole place needs a full update. I did want to end on a good note and say that there were several employees that were around that were super friendly! The staff were great with the kids and I especially wanted to mention a super friendly staff (I never caught his name) that helped us load the firewood we purchased, came to get the trash from the campgrounds and I even saw him in the store hanging out. He definitely was the highlight of our stay!

My wife and I stayed here in our pop-up with our 3 year old daughter and had a blast! Don't expect anything fancy but we had so much fun. The bathrooms were always very clean and the staff for the most part was very friendly. When we are camping we know we are kind of "roughing" it so older amenities don't necessarily bother us as long as they are clean. The water slide was a ton of fun, we couldn't keep our toddler off of it! I even went down it and had the most fun I've had in years, it was pure enjoyment! They also had a cool little general store that you could get anything from fishing supplies and things for your RV to pizza and ice cream. They also had disc golf, putt putt golf, multiple playgrounds, a pool table, arcade games, a bounce pad and mat and tons of activities for the kids. I'm sure there are certain people that this campground may not be for but my family and I had an amazing weekend here! I'm hopeful they faired well in the storm because my family and I are already planning our next trip!

This campground is truly for the whole family! They have a small water park, splash pad, pool, beach area, games, billiards, entertainment hall, putt-putt, craft and activities room... and much more. We only stayed one weekend but will definitely be back. The staff here go above and beyond what I've experienced at most campgrounds. When you check in they escort you to your site and make sure you can work everything properly or if you need help. The camp store is full of anything forgotten plus fun stuff. The water park and pools were so clean! The bathhouses were very nice as well! I'm impressed! Oh, and they rent cabins.

We camped here 5 years back and it was a lot nicer . It’s nice now don’t get me wrong . We had a lot of fun this past week here but it definitely needs some TLC in a lot of areas . Putt Putt golf was a challenge . It’s so messed up. Tether ball was broken. Animal statues were broken up. The mining station was nasty. We waited until after noon a couple days due to no lifeguard or staff showing up to swim or slide. The park was empty like it had a curse or something. I mean empty. We asked around . According to a staff member a child died from an ameba after visiting here in 2020 so it’s not been the same. Not sure if that’s why the lax of certain areas and the attitude of some staff but yeah it needs some love and it will shine bright again. It’s really a beautiful park but it definitely needs some love .

This RV resort has the potential to be an awesome family experience and opportunity for making fun memories. The set up is great and all the amenities are perfect for kids. They even appear to have plenty of workers. But their delivery of a friendly and inviting environment is severely lacking. There is absolutely no communication or direction from the park workers. They drive by in golf carts and don't even wave or act happy to see a paying customer. If anything you feel like you are intruding, if you want to do anything you have to ask for assistance. Nothing is easily accessible. They have a bounce house which they will inflate upon request. They have mini golf to play upon request. They have a splash pad which they will open upon request. They have a drivable train which the kids can sit on but is dangerous to be near because children can easily access the brake and controls. But they don't offer any times for rides - even with having an Activities coordinator on staff. They have no planned activities for families. The big water slide was under maintenance our entire visit with no indication of when it would open. Talk about a big teaser for kids. They have pool chairs which you must go and get yourself if you want to sit near the pool and watch your kids swim. I'm sure this place is hopping busy during the summer, but we visited during their off season and found it extremely disappointing that there were no planned activities or ways to meet the other campers. What a missed opportunity.

We only stayed at this location for two nights off season for the water park. The customer service was fantastic and my kids all had a blast at the huge playground, basketball, and mini gulf. Our site was located under beautiful trees loaded with Spanish moss. The atmosphere was splendid and peaceful even with the close proximity to the highway. I highly recommend this campsite and I will most certainly visit again.

This place should just be shut down. First time there. Stayed three days and right away lady at front desk was rude. No pictures available online of the cabin that fits 25 people( First red flag). It was only 9 of us. Looks like a beat down school portable with an added shower to it. No counter space what so ever. Had to shower in the bath house, no lasting hot water(10 mins the most). Waterpark opens at till 11am(there goes half of your day). Save your money choose another place.

A family with two campers, 4 adults & 3 kids. Our third visit this one being the first since the name change. Same services, we noticed the putt putt had been upgraded plus a huge playground had been added. The grand babies enjoyed every minute of being there especially the train ride getting soaked. I laughed so much. The fellow campers & staff were involved in pulling out their water hoses to wet the train riders. One recommendation my husband had was take photos or a video of the train rides. We would have definitely purchased either one. The only thing that could have made our trip better was all of our children & grandchildren ti have been there. Maybe next time because we will surely be returning. Pool & lazy river was so relaxing.

Truly a great experience for the family! We took our 1 and 3 year old children and they loved everything about this place. The staff were kind and there was.aleays something to do. There is a schedule posted each day with activities like arts and crafts or rides on the train. It really felt like going to a theme park for a fraction of the price. Just a great experience all around.

Where to start...
I agree with other reviews, this place has great potential; unfortunately it's far from what it could/should be, especially if paying the nightly rate.
The Good:
HUGE playground, big field to run around in. Mini golf, walking trails, frisbee golf. Jump pad, bounce house, volleyball court and some of the most beautiful trees we've ever seen.
The Meh:
This is a "pull-in site" campground. Sounds weirdly worded, but that's exactly what it is. Most of the sites appear to be for Class A's because of the fact that you are supposed to pull-in, facing whatever water structure you're near (fishing pond, retention pond, mosquito breeding pond). If you have an RV of any normal length, you may not be able to get your tow vehicle out because you'll run into said water feature. Some non-water front sites require all of your stuff in your site to be moved so the person in the site behind you can pull into your front yard to get their rig in. (Plus side- we met some great neighbors because of this).
You can mention the size of your rig and the number of slides when you reserve, but it's solely to hear yourself talk, as they do not use that info to match your RV to an appropriate size site. If you "know how to drive and park a rig", you can surely fit in any of their sites, despite not being able to open slides because of trees.
While they cannot control the weather (no argument there), they also cannot maintain or backfill sites so your RV stays level the whole time.
The water went out ALOT during our stay. We get it, accidents/issues happen. It would be nice if they operated as a lot of other campgrounds and let the paying customers know when water would be turned off. Glad we were never one of the unfortunate stuck in the shower. The whole system needs an upgrade (per maintenance), but it's $10k on the low end, so...
Glass shards CONSTANTLY at the dog park. They always showed up when staff backfilled low spots.
The Ridiculous:
How do you feel about electricity? Better yet, how do you feel about paying for a FHU 50 amp site and CONSTANTLY tripping your surge protector and/or inverter? (Like a 10-15 min cycle on/off). What about staff members that insist it is everyone else's equipment with the issue and not theirs? Maybe switching to 30 amp and running cords to the 20 amp will help... it won't. We were only able to run 1 AC in 90 degree heat, and it kept tripping for low voltage, then high voltage. Their solution? The only site they could offer us to move to was a site that had electrical issues that others were moved off of 🤦♀️ (or remove the EMS that was clearly protecting our rig from frying).
The maintenance team is a joke. The guy that "was an ex cop", so he "knows how to not listen when people talk" will offer to "cut everyone else in the parks' power off, so you can have it all" and that pretty much sums up most of the staff's mantra for running the place. The long haired maintenance guy was a rockstar and acknowledged that the electrical is shoddy and that there are too many people on an outdated system (which is obvious, but he wasn't a jerk about acknowledging the obvious), but that there is nothing he can do to fix that, that falls on the owners putting money into the place instead of lipsticking a pig.
The red haired lady in the office... what a treat. If you're looking to be berated for even the smallest question, check her out.
They also do not remove anyone, despite their rules stating the opposite, for altercations/assault. Several incidents occured, kids were hit, personal property taken and inappropriate sexual comments were made regarding teenage girls. Violence was threatened to kids. The staff was informed. Police were called. The people involved were able to stay and enjoy their vacation.

Their rules are outrageous. We rented a golf cart and it was taken away from us. They didn't speak with us they just took it. They falsely accused us of going through ATV trails when we did not. They also did not refund us when they took it even though we did nothing wrong. The workers are also very rude when talking to us.
Would not recommend to anyone.

This is our second time stopping here on our way home from Christmas in Louisiana. Again, this place is overrun by kids. We arrived at night and my kids start asking to go play with others running around the field. We pack up blankets and chairs for fireworks and head out to find a newly built huge playground where it was just a field before. My kids were in heaven. They always just ask to stop to see every playground on our routes. The firework show for New Years was incredible. We died laughing at our son that went to check out the snow and slipped into the mess. My only regret is we still haven’t had a chance to come visit in the summer.

If you want to be charged a lot of money to be stressed during your vacation, Ragans family campground is for you!
We paid $522 for 4 nights, plus $65-70/night for golf carts.
Water park advertised to be open. It’s not. They’re blaming the hurricane that happened LAST YEAR. See picture.
We’ve been to many campgrounds, usually the general vibe is relaxing, staff are accommodating/welcoming and you simply have a great time. I’ve literally never had a bad experience at a campground anywhere else until now. We’ve been to south Florida, Georgia, Jacksonville and Gainesville. Always in the very least a worthwhile experience. Until now.
There are rules upon rules. The weirdest rule is - You can’t use golf carts at night. But the staff can. Why?
You can’t drive golf carts against the same direction as cars. But the staff are allowed. Why?
16 year old licensed drivers can’t drive golf carts. On the check in paper it’s literally stated as 16 years old can drive but then it’s crossed out and 18 years old are written down. At least change your pamphlets, surely it’s not that steep of a business cost.
My friend’s 16 year old daughter was yelled at by the staff for her first “infraction” due to driving a cart on day one. She has a driving permit. How about simply explaining the rule instead of raising your voice to a teen? No warning?
Oh and the bathrooms smell like feces.
It’s super obvious that any money that’s made does not get reinvested into to the campground.
When it comes to making customers happy or relaxed, this is not the case with Ragans. Apparently they are undergoing new management which is clearly not going in the right direction.
Fire ants at the spicket dump station. See picture.
10. I repeat TEN, lounge chairs at the pool. There are about 200 spots for campers. I didn’t take a picture as people were at green/cloudy looking pool. Do the math. Ain’t enough.
The bench at the volley ball court is dilapidated. My 14 year son who weighs 105lbs fell off because the boards weren’t nailed down securely. See picture.
Overall a massive fail. We came because our friends had a good experience last year. Not sure what happened in such a short period of time, presumably due to new management but I guess these people generally don’t like to make their patrons happy.
If you actually want to have a good time, go to Island Oaks, Hanna Park, Suwannee Music park, or Ginnie Springs.
We will NEVER come back here.

Nice size cabins that are neat and clean but a little dated. Floor under the shower seems worn away. Afraid to stand in certain parts of the shower because I don't want it to give way. Everyone seems friendly and accommodating. Lots to do here and really convenient off of I-10.

Showed up at 4 pm. It was raining 100%. I told the employee that I was only riding golf car and motorcycle tomorrow. They insisted on charging me $25 for the rainy day the next day and check out day. Growing up in Tallahassee, I had been to Thomasville on many occasions and visited Pebble Hill Plantation several times. When we got engaged, we toured several venues, but none compared to the to the beautiful oak trees and southern charm of Pebble Hill Plantation. Their events team was communicative and helpful throughout the planning process. They even contacted us when there was a cancellation at their Overflow Cottage because they knew that we were looking to stay on the property the night before the wedding. Elizabeth did a fantastic job making sure we had everything we needed to have an amazing event – she coordinated with several of our outside vendors so that they could deliver items prior to our wedding day. To our great surprise, their services continued throughout the event when their very helpful security services helped jump start a guest’s car. I simply cannot say enough about Pebble Hill Plantation and their events team – it is truly a special place that we will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

The museum and tour are really more about the houses history as a guest house and hunting lodge for wealthy Ohioans and Yankes than it's history as a plantation. However, the house tour was amazing and very well guided. How can you not like a kitchen that has 5 rooms (to include a pastry room and (2) 1934 GE refrigerators) The dog collar exhibit on the 2nd floor was actually pretty interesting (apparently the spiked collars were to save dogs guarding the flocks from wolf neck bites). But the highlight for me was wandering the gardens and grounds and admiring the moss draped trees. Slavery is very briefly mentioned although you could miss it if you blink.

Over the years, we have hosted the weddings of both of our daughters at the beautiful Pebble Hill Plantation. Our family's love of the place actually started about 27 years prior when my wife's employer hosted their Christmas office party there. We enjoyed a splendid dinner followed by a tour of the beautifully decorated grounds via a carriage ride -complete with hot chocolate and the entertaining stories of the staff. As a life-long 'southerner', I actually learned that it was there, on their plantation, that the 'hushpuppy' got it's name. By their account, the women cooking the meals for the other residents, would fry up the small scraps of breading and toss em to the dogs gathered around to keep them quiet.
As for the weddings, our first in 2017 was an awesome experience - due in part to the beauty of the surroundings and the personalized assistance of the former event coordinator Cara Dollinger. The most recent, in February of this year, was equally as spectacular - despite the torrential downpour which lasted over 24 hours during the event weekend. Just like Cara, the current event coordinator Elizabeth Pulley, swooped in and she and her staff helped to implement Plan B, then Plan C as the rain continued to flood the tent setup as a back-up to the planned outdoor ceremony. In the end, it all went off without a hitch, to include the PH staff security helping with getting the guests and their cars navigate a couple of 'slippery' areas in the parking area. It was at the Sugar Hill Barn which was relatively unaffected despite the 24+ hours of rain.
One of the same staff members was back bright and early giving us access as we retrieved our property and cleaned up the mess.
From end to end, and over our past 27 years of enjoying it, Pebble Hill Plantation has been a beautiful place to visit and an Awesome place for a wedding!

Beautiful fresh water lagoon! The water is cool, since it comes from under ground, and is super refreshing on hot days. There is a boat ride you can take and see lots of swamp wild life: manatees, alligators, fish, snakes, birds, turtles, etc. There is a public swimming area with swimming for little kids and adults. For those adventurous enough, the swimming area has a 20ft platform people can safely jump off of. We took our 3yr old on a boat ride, swimming area, and ice cream. Many others picnicked and grilled.

Nice park. You can see Manatees if you time it right. People were swimming and jumping off the deck. The water temperature stays consistent. Very nice gift shop. The food in the Restaurant was good. The only negative is they can't seem to keep their tour boats running. Not sure if that is a state issue or a local park issue.

Discovered this gem today. If you've never been, there is a huge lodge that you can stay overnight. A spring fed swimming area. And a boat ride through the spring run. The boat ride is additional cost from the park admission. On the boat ride, you will see lots of alligators, sea cows, birds and turtles. The guide will give you a lot of info about the park and how it was founded. There is also an ice cream shop in the lodge. The old 1950's movie, Creature From the Black Lagoon was filmed here.

It was very enjoyable. We had lunch at the picnic tables and even saw a tiny alligator at the sink holes! We were going to go on the boat tour but it was already booked for the day (due to FSU Homecoming traffic)
The chairs were super comfy in the lodge and the person behind the counter was super helpful!
The water felt great and there weren't very many people swimming!
Highly recommend

We loved visiting Wakulla Springs! It's a perfect, quiet place to spend a beautiful day. If we didn't live 300 miles away we'd go on a super regular basis. Sweet little spot.

This is a must-do attraction if you’re anywhere near. Buy the river boat tickets ahead of time (make reservations a week in advance). This was the highlight of our trip to Tallahassee. We saw probably 30 alligators, hundreds of fish and birds, 4 manatees, and so many pretty views. There is a swimming area (which just happened to have a gator in it) with jumping platforms. The spring is pristine and such a treat to be able to experience. The lodge is beautiful, too.

The boat tour is a great place to see wildlife. We had a great tour guide (tall, young gentleman). A nice fresh water spring with a high dive to swim in. There are also some nature trails you can walk.
Reid Bland — Google review
Oh yes. Except for the occasional loud person, who spouts profanity before jumping off the diving platform, this place is family fun. Cool water that's clear and clean. Two platforms for jumping into the spring waters. Trails to explore. The boat ride is a must, at least once.
Paul Bass (Yay Verily) — Google review
We took the boat ride and it was great. We saw a lot of native Wildlife including alligators and manatees. If I can make one suggestion it would be that our guide spoke louder because he was really funny and informative at the same time.

We were there this year to enjoy the grounds and do some hiking. In the past, we have eaten at their magnificent Thanksgiving Day buffet. I love the architecture and nostagic feel of the inn. We spotted several manatees and a nursing calf this time. So special!

This is so much fun for any age. I'm on the rivers alot, but don't get to see the wildlife like you can here because they are gone before you get near. Plus Manatees are always a special treat!

I lived in Tallahassee in the 80s and Wakulla springs was , is, and hopefully will be for years to come the place to beat the heat🥰
Moving back to the area, the Springs not as clear. However the park recently went to Electric Tour boats! Bravo WSP!
The foods fantastic and if you get a chance to stay at the lodge, do.
The staff at the Lodge are cheerful and very helpful. Checking in and out no snags and the rooms are clean. No tv. Thank you

Nice state park, some hiking trails, a hotel with restaurant and gift shop. Info booth and a boat tour that is pretty fun. Not pet friendly. We saw manatees, turtles, great blue herons, many other water fowl, lots of fish in the super clear water, and a dozen or so sleeping alligators along the shore. We even saw a deer bedded down in an alligator nest. $8 for the boat tour of appx 45 mins. Lunch at the lodges was very good, and a bit on the pricey side, but they are super slow. So don't plan to make it a quick bite

We didn't get to take the boat tour due to our schedule. Will definitely be back. Beautiful park and the LODGE looked wonderful.

I have been visiting wakulla springs my entire life. As a child in the 50s and '60s living in Florida with no air conditioning, my mother would bring us here several times a week to enjoy the cool year-rounds 71° water. We would often bring a picnic. At the time there was a snack/ burger/ hot dog bar where the showers are. There was a sunken"tub" with windows, you could look out into the river and watch huge large mouth bass swim by. Glass bottom boats perusing crystal clear waters and watch a" trained" fish jump over a log. The rooms at that time were furnished with original antique beds with little ladders. You climbed up to get into the bed 🙂 it is still an amazing place to go, the jungle cruises still operate and it's never tiring to hear the story of the filming of THE CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON. Do a little research and find out about the history of Ed Ball and his connections to politics in Florida and one of the most powerful families to ever exist in the United States. Nothing is perfect. :-), but holiday buffets are wonderful at wakulla springs and provide an amazing unique venue to enjoy. Book early!

Florida State University is a public university located in Tallahassee, Florida. The school offers a variety of courses and programs in a beautiful campus. The sports program is very successful, and the student body is highly engaged in extracurricular activities.
Wonderful institution with highly renowned and quality professors. Most beautiful campus in the state scattered with aged live-oaks, historic buildings, and an incredible landscape design. Unmatched access to the Florida State Capitol. Tours available through the FSU Visitors Center at the stadium.

As a little kid and following in my dad's footsteps and learning about football in general and then beginning to know about Florida State football and the university as a whole, when I got to my teens I knew there was nothing else to follow and fall in love with except FSU and Florida State football. Now that I'm in my 40's, I've learned alot more about Florida State University, the history...the love and passion and what it means to be an FSU fan.....it's a lifestyle! It's what I share proudly with family and friends. It's the life long dedication I see with older people that go to the football games at Doak Campbell Stadium...it's the Holy Grail of my college football world and nothing will change that because we are Florida...State.... They campus is absolutely gorgeous and we had a great tour here. The area is really nice as well. I can't complain about the weather either since I was born and raised in Florida and it beats the freezing cold. They have good academics and are well recognized, at least in my perspective and I can't see a valid reason I personally wouldn't want to go here - meaning I think it would be a great school to attend. It's also in the states capital, which for my major is a huge perk.

Watch their sponsors and you know what you will learn. Doesn't have anything to do with real science. It's 99% exactly the stuff which their sponsors are selling which is taught here. Also they ask for endless immunizations to join - even for remote/online learning when never on campus. Tells everything about the corruption here. Money goes in circles ...

Nobody hovering over you, you get to go at your own pace.
The animals are all gorgeous and intriguing.
The only reason it got 4 stars is because the place needs a serious update!
Half the buttons didn't work to make the sounds.. they need donations.. like badly!
It's such a cool place and I want it to stay intimate like that, especially for the price.. but they do need ae renovation! And I 100% believe they're worth donating to! Because they TRULY are an awesome place!!

Had an awesome time today here at Gulf Specimen Lab! Was shocked by how much there was to look at here, and my expectations were blown away. If you’re local to the surrounding areas, I recommend getting a members pass because they hold events here, and different activities for the Family to enjoy! Me and my grandmother had such a fun time learning about all the different little critters that live right next-door to us in our lovely ocean❤️ along with all the fun activities, we learned that this is a rehabilitation center. Most of these animals are unable to return to the wild due to health problems, and this staff does an amazing job at making sure All their needs are met! I love the “kill two birds with one stone” idea, Rehabilitating these lovely animals while also teaching the public about ocean life!!! If you Happen to be in the area, it is well worth the drive to check this place out!!!!

Awesome little aquarium! Kids had a blast and us adults had a lot of fun too! There's many touch tanks so we were able to hold a lot of different species of animals. Decent priced to get in and different photo opportunities outside with the fake gators, turtle, crab and sharks. I suggest anyone who visits reads their mission statement and "about us" on their website. This will give an idea of how the aquarium got started and some background on the people who own it. Makes the experience a little more special I think. Would def recommend!

What an awesome aquarium!! In Panacea from Tallahassee, the $15 admission was more than worth it to see all the incredible exhibits here at Gulf Specimen. Everything from a huge amount of touch tanks with starfish and horseshoe crabs to nursing sharks and a sea turtle on display. A great way to spend an hour or so, especially if you may have kids in tow. Would definitely recommend!!

There is a small fee but it was reasonable for the experience.

Please consider taking your friends and family here for the day! They have several interactive tanks and lovely fish! Plus, an octopus and many nurse sharks. We were able to see the sting rays during feeding time, and I was a big fan of the eels. Don't forget to check out the turtles!

Our family really enjoyed this aquarium. We learned a lot, the staff was extremely helpful. I would love to see the animals in more enriching/larger tanks someday, I know that’s a big expense. The animals seem well taken care of and I love that many of them were rescued. The sea turtle was my favorite!

My son and I went here and had a good day. Touch tanks were a hit. Lots of cool things to pick up and look at. Not a crazy amount of things to see but worth a stop in.
Cory Green — Google review
Enclosures are way too small for the sharks and big rays. One ray was causing the other to bleed during the feeding as it was frenzied. Many tanks were dirty and had no habitat to them, just concrete.
If you don't have the funds or staff to do something properly, relocate the animals. Research and education should not come at the expense of animal care and treatment.
The other tanks for smaller fish and animals were spaced well. The ray feeding attendant was great at her speech and friendly, as were other staff. Good gift shop and good information around the facility about the importance of preservation.

Very interesting local aquarium. Some tanks were touch tanks. The variety of fish was representative of local fish. We were able to see the feeding of the Loggerhead turtle, which was amazing.

I stumbled on this place by accident and so glad I did!
It is within walking distance of the RV park we are staying in. It is non profit, so you will not see all the high tech here. However, it has many pools for viewing different species of sealife. They also have several pool allowing you to handle different species. I discovered many of their sea animals are sent to zoos, wildlife parks and universities for aquatic studies.
This is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon and learn about sealife in the Gulf.

The Tallahassee Museum is a historical site on a beautiful lakeside property that offers school children enriching experiences with science, art, history and world cultures. The museum has exhibits of native animals in natural habitats and also has reconstructed historic buildings.
We had a blast and the staff was incredible!! We will be returning as it can be an all day adventure. I would recommend this park to anyone passing through or wanting to have a day full.of fun with the family 👪 😊. We did the full zip line trail and got to view some of the animals. I did not go zip lining but the people who were doing it looked like they were having a blast and there were a ton of lines to zip across. Wow. Went not knowing what to expect. Encountered school field trip. We were not in any hurry so just joined in with the crowd. The Phipps Gallery was featuring artwork by Ernest M. Lee whom we are familiar with. We took the walk to see the animals. I liked the cypress trees the best. Lots of historical information. We visited a one-room schoolhouse. A railway inspector car and the gift shop. There is a cafe on the premises and lots of tables outside also. Zip lines for adults and kids. Wear comfortable shoes and clothes. Beautiful place.

We enjoyed walking around and seeing all the animals. The Museum staff and volunteers keep the property very well maintained. Everything was neat and tidy. The animals all looked amazing, and their areas were set up where you could see them easily. It was very hot the day we went, but there was plenty of shade to make it an enjoyable visit. Having a nice Café on-site to sit down to cool off while you ate was an extra bonus. Their lunch choices were very good and very tasty, as well as reasonably priced. It was also nice to have a gift shop to pick up something as a reminder about a great family day.

Great place. Large….something like 50+ acres. Agree it’s more like a zoo but animals appeared to be healthy and in their natural habitat. Agreed that reptiles should have larger homes but we were able to see almost all the animals. The tree activities would be great for younger folks. It was fantastic to be that close the animals and they were’t afraid. If I saw a black bear or panther in my backyard you’d hear me screaming in Texas!!

This place is always absolutely wonderful. Even with it being a 100° outside. As long as you go in the morning because they open at 9. You will be just fine, and the kids will have a blast. Even if you don't have kids, you will still have a good time. They have a tree to tree adventure and zipliness all over the place, They also have a playground and lots of animals. I believe this place is definitely for all ages. You will have a wonderful time.!!

We had a GREAT time! I used to take my children and they went on field trips here. It was always such a treat. Now I have a Grandbaby and we took her for the first time. My boys went to zip line there. They absolutely loved the experience. Trainers were very friendly and instructed kids well. Please note that if thunders are in the area, the zip line place will be closed for further notice. We experienced this type of close-down twice in three days. I guess it’s pretty common during the rainy season. Parents, bring bug sprays and wear sneakers, mosquitoes and ants in the late July will annoy you for sure. I love most Jim Gary’s animal sculptures made of abandoned car parts. They look so live and beautiful. Oh, we encountered a golden lizard too, a live one not a sculpture.

The Tallahassee Museum has a lot to offer for a low admission price. Nature trails, animal exhibits, history exhibits, and canopy walks and zip lines. Strolling through the tree tops has an additional charge, but the area is so beautiful it is worth it. The animals are extremely well cared for and have a variety of enrichment items to interact with. On top of it all, they participate in the SPP (species protection plan) for the critically endangered red wolf! The grounds are very well kept and so are the exhibits themselves. There is most certainly something for the whole family to enjoy here.

Wasn’t too pricey either!

My favorite museum/zoo in the panhandle! The historic sites are beautiful and well maintained, and I love how all of the animals are rehabilitated rather than bred in captivity. The animals have a very realistic habitat rather than small, confined spaces. A very diverse museum that represents Old Florida in an interactive environment. 10/10

Lovely place to visit and spend time. Plenty to walk around. Great animal exhibits. Lots of animals to view. Some cool history, but is more of a zoo sanctuary than a museum. Regardless worth the visit. Spent 4 hours checking everything out.

This is an outdoors museum. They have bears, white tail deer, Florida cougars, bald eagles, red tip owls, wolves, various birds, foxes, to name a few. The lake encroaches on the property which makes for beautiful cypress forest. There are various dinosaur sculptures by Jim Gary. He used old car parts from the 1950's, 60's, and 70's. Whimsical and creative. The walkways are easy to navigate. Highly recommend the museum.

All local animals found in Florida/Georgia. A lot of them are rescue animals found hurt or needing healthcare. Nice sized animal exhibit, very cool wooden playground and for the thrill seekers there is zip lines and obstacle courses! Little ones had a blast!

This place is definitely much closer to a zoo than a museum and pretty much all of it except a very small center is outdoors. This will not be very accessible to everyone as there's some parts that are dirt, mulch, gravel and boardwalk. However, the majority of it is shaded which is nice and the views were beautiful. All the animals had great big and very natural enclosures and all seemed healthy, which is always nice to see (I do wish their reptile enclosures were larger as they certainly have the space for it). We even got to see deer treading through swamp water which was new to me! The place is dotted with different flora all around as well. And my favorite part was trying to find the foxes up in the trees!! They also had metal prehistoric creatures sporadically placed around the property! It was neat!

If you're thinking, "the state capital of a tourist state must have a fantastic museum," then you don't know Tallahassee. This is less of a city museum/zoo and more of a Billy Bob's Gator Emporium where you're left wondering if you did actually find the right place. Don't get me wrong, the staff seemed to care, and the animals were taken care of, but it was also in the middle of the woods surrounded by swamps, and you could tell.
Probably my biggest complaint is the one bridge over the swamp that was pretty rotted and felt unsafe to be on the entire time. I'm not talking about turning brown and peeling paint, I'm talking squelching wood that leaks water like a sponge and leaves an indent of your foot. On the other hand, the bridge around the gators actually seemed to be in good repair, which was relieving.
I suppose if I had realized that Tallhassee was a fairly rural city, none of this would have been surprising. It was just surprising coming from another Florida city and having expectations for the state capital to appear something like Orlando, Jacksonville, or Tampa. Just know what to expect. I would describe it as a nature walk around a small collection of late 1800s farm houses that also has a couple of native animals, and sometimes you see a metal dino sculpture.

My family and I visited here last weekend on May 23rd 2022. We had never been here, as well as never even knew Florida Caverns State Park existed but had the best time doing the cave tour with our Tour Guide Tim. Also the Owls and the museum were really neat to see. I definitely recommend this place as it was a family fun place. Breathtaking scenery! Took the family out to explore Florida Caverns and drove few hours to come here. It was well worth it! It really is an amazing experience. Everyone in our family (2 adults 3 children) was super impressed with this visit. We purchased our tickets online. For five people we paid $36-$37 and there’s $5 state park access fee per vehicle. Our tour guide Mia was very helpful, knowledgeable and fun. She walked us through the entire cave and took the time to explain how it was discovered, what it represents and shared many more insightful information. Humidity level is very high inside the cave thus, I recommend wearing something active and comfortable. Also there are many low clearance paths along with stairs and puddles filled with water so it’s also recommended to wear appropriate shoes that are comfortable and yet provide good protection and grip. There are some low clearance points inside the cave where if you’re a tall person you need to really duck down to avoid hitting your head. If you have knee or back problems you may find this activity to be a bit challenging though. You can bring your own cameras and take as many pictures as you want even with camera flash. Overall it’s a great experience. I highly recommend visiting this hidden natural treasure to everyone.

I had a very fun time here; not only are there the cavern tours, but there is also a campground, small museum, and walking trail in the park too. I had fun on the cavern tours and they were definitely worth it. I saw a deer on the walking trails, and it was really cool; however, I also saw a Northwest Florida rattlesnake on the walking trail and almost stepped on it. The walking trail is also very rocky and somewhat difficult. Not ideal for children or disabled folks. That combined with the rattlesnake leaves it with a 4 star review instead of 5.

A very nice visit to the Caverns. It might be challenging for tall people as there are several places the height is four feet, and a few places the width is two feet. The staff were all kind and helpful.
There are a few places that feel a little tight, but it still feels pretty open. Being wet and dark, it's can be slippery, but your guide will remind you where those spots are.

Visiting Florida Caverns State Park was an unforgettable experience! From the moment we stepped into the caverns, we were amazed by the stunning geological formations and the rich history they hold. The guided tour was informative and engaging, providing insights into the formation of these natural wonders. The park’s above-ground attractions, like hiking trails and picnic areas, were equally impressive, offering beautiful scenery and opportunities for outdoor recreation. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, enhancing our overall enjoyment of the park. Whether you’re a nature enthusiast, a history buff, or simply looking for a memorable adventure, Florida Caverns State Park is a must-visit destination. Can’t wait to return and explore even more!

We added this stop on our road trip and so glad we did. It was a reasonably priced great stop for our family. We went on an hour tour with Lou through the caves , it was beautiful and the tour was unique and informative! The pictures don’t really do it justice, and the gift shop was well stocked and offered ice cream and snacks . We were towing a trailer and had room for us to be able to park. This isn’t far off the interstate so be sure to add it to your Florida trip!

Very fun!! I took my boyfriend here because he has never been in a cave and we had a nice time! It was cool inside the cave so it’s a fun way to explore nature while staying out of the sun. Had an Amazing Time! Lou our tour guide was very informative! He did an excellent job. We look forward to coming back for the VIP Tour just off his recommendations and thorough tour skills! Lots of other families small children were with us on our specific tour but Lou still made it enjoyable for all! Ask Lou to show you the Titanic!

The Caverns were awesome! Our guide was very knowledgeable and very friendly. He was very engaging throughout the entire tour and really made our experience much better. There were a few tight spaces, but the cavern is really easy to go through. I'm 6'2, and on the large side, and I was able to get through it easily.
The staff is very friendly and accommodating. The young lady in the gift store is a blessing to everyone she meets.
We stayed at the campground, which is very well kept. Sites are spacious with a hard gravel surface, full hookup, fire pit, large picnic table, and a place to hang your hammock. The bathhouse is kept clean with a laundry right there.

Amazing place. Worth the drive if your on east coast of Florida or middle. At end of parking lot first go to a trail near a dirt road. Walk down about 300 yards and there is a very cool tight cave to go through. Noone seems to know about it unless you hike a small loop trail. Enjoyed the learning about the place.

Tucked away off the beaten path, just Northwest of the state capital Tallahassee. This state park, like most all Florida State Parks is very well groomed and maintained. It was mandatory to purchase the " guided " tour in order to access the caverns. Which we thought was a bit pricey. 53$ for four. Inside the caverns is a magical place that takes you back in time. The stalagtites and stalagmites were amazing to see knowing they have been formed over the course of earths history. The Florida Caverns are a great example of the complexity and beauty of our planet.

What an awesome park, the history behind it, and the Cave tour wow! We were here for 4 days camping and loved it. The facilities at our campsite were great. Bonus points for the washer and dryer!
The cave tour was way more fun than I expected. We did the 2 hour night tour with our 3 kids aged 6,8, and 4 they loved it. Honey bee / Joni was incredible she was so knowledgeable and made the tour so much fun. I just loved her spirit, passion. She truly loves what she does, and made this experience for our family unforgettable. The caves themselves were very big, and impressive with their beautiful formations and the history behind how it was all made to be accessible to the public well that was a story of its own. Would recommend as a great family spot to check out. We will definitely return and be recommending to our family and friends.

We love Florida State Parks. This is one that we have not visited before. We only had a few hours to burn and we visited the caves. So worth visiting if you are short on time or have the whole day to spend. There is camping available at this park.

Nice park for hiking and a visit to the carverns is a must if you are here. They do charge $15 per person for 45 minute guided tour. I do not think you can go into the cave unless you are on the tour. The caverns are great. Plenty of lighting. Some uneven floor and some steps. Also there are several very low ceilings, so if you are taller then that is a little more of an issue. Just need to duck or crouch down. No place do you need to crawl. The cavern formations are spectacular and still actively growing. Outside the caverns, there are some nice hiking trails. The trails are not very difficult, so great for kids. Dogs can use the hiking trails on leash. No dogs inside the caverns.

Amazing , go, no regrets, worth it, fun, safe, nature, unique experience for all ages. Gift shop, restrooms, family, couple, singles friendly. A place everyone can come and enjoy, plenty of trails as well. Call them ahead and book advance on line for tours, it can be slow in the morning and empty and fill up packed in the afternoon

Beautiful park! Things are easily found and staff is very friendly and helpful. Roads are newly paved and marked. Trails were easy to navigate and scenic. VIPs and Host were very friendly. If you’re camping in a long rig just know that in the campground the turns are sharp. Horse camp is so nice with day use.

This was just such wonderful, wonderful experience. Unfortunately we didn’t get to see the whole OK because it was flooded so we only had half a tour but what we saw was so interesting and beautiful. we went on a hike around there and it was kind of rough walking it. Lots of rocks and stumps and it was challenging for me, but I made it but if you’re handicap I would not recommend it. They have a small museum and a gift shop. Was a great fun day

I wish i was able to explore on my own, but I understand that the limited self-control of the populus prohibits me from experiencing such wonders freely and without supervision.
It's a neat cave. It's not super big, and it costs about $16 for a tour. I probably won't go back . They do have other trails that i did not check out that don't cost money, but you have to pay an entry fee to enter the park.

What a beautiful cave enjoy this experience with my children.. some lovely pictures felt like I needed to share.. Yes it may be a long drive if you're from south Florida going to North Florida but is well worth it and you'll have a lovely time at it . Make sure you get there early on your journeys so you have time to get home.. and the GPS worked fabulous this time so no problems coming and going.. can't remember the name of my tour guide but he was fabulous explain so much and had so much knowledge.. Titanic was going down with the music that was special Loved it.. we all enjoyed his knowledge of the cave.. wonderful group to walk with couldn't ask for anything better that day.. many blessings on your journeys in the state of Florida we have such beautiful parks and beautiful places to explore many many blessings and safe drive..
Uhhmm, what can I say other than WOW! This is a must do for anyone. You'll be impressed with the admiration and care shown to these big cats by Jim and Bertie. They can tell you anything and everything you could ever want to know about the cats under their care. Go ahead, ask them anything...whatever they don't know, Jim will go ahead and make something up for you (kidding, but he will.) It was a great time and you'll definitely gain a new respect for these cats. When you're face to face with a Mountain Lion offering him up a chicken leg, you'll quickly understand just how big and powerful these cats are. This certainly isn't a walk through the zoo to look at animals in cages! This is a bonified educational experience that teaches you everything you could ever want to know while offering a hands on experience that you will not find anywhere else. You will not be disappointed! Smaller groups or pairs work best (2-3 people)

Visiting the center was the highlight of our vacation. The group size was limited making it comfortable to move as a group to observe the varity of felines as well as hear the educational presentation. The felines are well cared for with clean, good size enclosures. I encourage anyone thinking of visiting Bear Creek Feline Center to do so, it is well worth the cost of enterance. You must prebook, no drop ins.

We had a great weekend girls trip at Bear Creek, it was such an amazing experience. The staff was excellent, the place was so clean and the animals were very healthy looking & well taken care of. It was great to be able to get close and interact with these animals. A must do at least once! And we will definitely go back. I would def recommend.

Bear Creek is the perfect place to visit if you want an experience of a lifetime all the while helping big cats and the wonderful people who care so deeply for them! Jim and Bertie do a great job off welcoming guests, and answering all your questions. To give you an idea of their hospitality, my father and I were greeted with hot coco along with the other guests, we were offered multiple refreshments cookies, and even post tour we had a BLAST talking with them and sharing stories!
These are the people who truly care for the animals, they're dedicated to offering the best care possible, while educating the public about the big cat and wild cat conservation. If you're ever in the area do yourself a favor and visit! Thank you Bertie and Jim for being such amazing people and hearing my reptile ramblings when I visited :)

We volunteered to be interns recently and learned about the new Sanctuary Status designation from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) awarded a year ago allowing Bear Creek Feline Center to be a forever home for Class 1, 2 and 3 animals. They currently house more than a dozen animals. They operate in accordance to all state and federal regulations. Their mission is to educate people about the importance of wildlife conservation and preservation.

Wow, what an amazing experience! This was easily the highlight of our vacation. Jim, Bertie, and their team really made us feel like part of their family, and we interacted with the cats more than we imagined. We learned a lot, and enjoyed the history and knowledge they shared with us. They gave us a deeper appreciation for wild cats, and we'll definitely be back next time we're in the area! We would recommend this to anyone. Thank you BCFC for a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

Scenic state park & hiking area featuring a waterfall, sinkholes, campsites & a small lake.
Quiet and pretty campground with clean restrooms and showers. Spots are a bit snug but our 35 foot 5ver fit fine.
Trails to the water are nice and the picnic area at the pond is well kept and pretty.
The road to get in is a bit steep up and down but not as bad as it looks once you drive it.

Very lovely place to camp. There are hiking trails, a swimming lake, sand volleyball court, horseshoes and waterfalls to experience. There is a swing set at the campground and a bigger playground at the beginning of the hiking trail area. Bathrooms are nice and clean with several showers and a family shower area. There is electricity and water, a fire ring, and a picnic table but no cooking grill at any of the sites. Very shaded and cozy.

We stayed at Falling Waters State Park Campground for one night on our way west out of FL. Upon arrival we wished we had planned on a longer stay. Shortly after arrival they had a bad storm move over the panhandle, so we only had a few hours to explore. There is plenty more to do in this beautiful park.
The campground is secured and very well maintained. The gravel sites are level. All sites have power and water hook ups. The bathrooms/showers look very new. The garbage dumpster and dump site is close but not to close.
The camp host actually came around to warn each camper that there was a tornado watch issued for our county and that we should run to the bath house if we needed to.
We will stay again if in the area. Oh yeah, the price was very affordable.

This is such a beautiful state park. The sites are easy to get in and out of and the campground is clean. I only stayed for an over night stay so I didn't get to see the waterfall but I will definitely be back!

Falling Waters is a stopover more than a destination. If you need an overnight close to I-10 in the Panhandle, this is a good choice. Campground is nestled in a pine forest with clean bathhouse, dishwashing station, fire ring, picnic table, 48 over-the-air TV stations. One bar Verizon. Site 17 is large and fairly level, but no footpath to bathhouse or trash. Stretch legs from long drive with boardwalk to waterfall overlook. Butterfly garden is newly planted with no flutters in sight. Peaceful retreat for panhandle rest.

We drove nearly 2 hours to check out this waterfall after feeling cooped up inside after our college closed during Covid 2020. I was honestly underwhelmed and a bit disappointed at the waterfall itself. It was advertised as the Florida’s largest / longest waterfall but when we saw it, it was just a meager stream falling 70 feet. Regardless, we had a great friend-reunion and it was a fun walk for the dogs and exercise for us. The area is mostly flat.

Very dry, so waterfalls were not flowing.
There are plenty of beautiful trees showing color and trails to hike or ride bikes.

Ventured here before the Florida Caverns state park, and it was worth the stop. It's a smaller park, but the area is pretty, and the waterfall was flowing after overnight rains. The area is ADA accessible so it's a nice paved trail down to the waterfall. That area is actually in the central time zone, so we got an extra hour to check it out. It's a nice park to check out if you're in that area.

Very well maintained, all of the trails aren't quite open, but they do have a detour to get to the lake, the walk to the falls is really short, very easy to do in 30 minutes or less. The water fall was labeled moderate and was very beautiful!

St. Andrews State Park is a natural haven located at the southeastern edge of Panama City Beach. The park spans over 1,260 acres and offers picturesque beaches, nature trails, and opportunities for camping. Visitors can also take seasonal boat tours to Shell Island. The roads in the park may require maintenance but they encourage visitors to slow down and appreciate the beauty of nature around them. St.
I love visiting St. Andrew’s State Park beaches. Today the pier was closed for repairs but the beach, nonetheless, was calling. The roads throughout the park need repair but I think the State purposefully doesn’t fix them so traffic has no choice but to drive slowly - it’s God’s country after all. There are clean restrooms and you can catch a boat to Shell island across the harbor/ bay. The water is warming up, the waves were perfect. What a really great day we spent with our community at the beach! Make sure you all come visit and have a great time loving on these beaches!

Great little State Park with an amazing wildlife area. The visitor Center was very neat and clean and informative about wildlife in the area and safety on the beach. For only $8 for our whole family, we spent the whole day visiting different areas of the State Park (a little bit of trail walking - didn't see any gators though) and spending most of the time on the beach! Definitely worth our time Jewel of the State Park! Highly would recommend it for anyone visiting or wanting to get away from the resort beaches. The beach itself was beautiful and had a jetty on the north and south side, the North side of the jetty created a calm pool for the kids to play in and snorkel around looking for interesting things. The south side has some nice waves and even did a little bit of surfing!

Have been going here since I was a kid. Always have a great experience here. Great for shore fishing, pier or on the jetties. The kiddie pool side is great if you have small children, since it’s shallow and has minimal current issues. Scuba divers and snorkelers like to use the jetties to see different kinds of sea life around the rocks. You will still have jellyfish issues in there even without the purple flag flying occasionally, but if you know which ones to stay clear of, it won’t be a big problem.

Absolutely gorgeous state park located in the Florida Panhandle. For an entrance fee of only $8 per vehicle, this place is an AMAZING stop. The park is lined with pristine beaches, with plenty of nearby parking and crystal clear water. St. Andrew's Park also has campsites available for those interested in staying there, and they also have stores and food on site for easy access. We did a sunset cruise that went around the park the next day, and we were amazed at the amount of dolphins surrounding the area, and all the wild deer that came up to the vacant beach at night. It was a beautiful and unforgettable experience!

Very beautiful area to visit. In December it was not crowded and the weather was nice. There are trails to see wildlife. We saw plenty of birds Herons, Egrets, Ducks, a small snake and a tiny frog. The facilities are clean and have nice access to the beach, pier and jetty. Entry was $8 per car at the time of our visit. We would go this place again when we are in town.

This was an absolutely wonderful way to spend the day. We took the water shuttle to shell island for a fantastic family day. Found many shells and got some great pics. Very secluded and nothing there. Make sure you take your chairs, umbrella and plenty of drinks and snacks. We will definitely return next year.

We had so much fun exploring St. Andrews State Park! Not crowded at all compared to other beaches in the area. We only encountered a handful of people. It felt very private and secluded. We had entire sections of the park all to ourselves.
The only drawback is the state park entry fee of $8. Which honestly, probably drives others away. It was really nice to get away from the hustle and bustle and heavy traffic of public beaches. Highly recommend! Will be coming back when in the area.
L W — Google review
The views from the beach and fishing pier were stunning! There were not the crowds as were on the public beaches.
Entering the park, it appears to have had a recent burn as most of the plants and trees were blackened.
There are nice restrooms, paved parking lots, and covered picnic pavilions. A fishing pier allows for an easy stroll over the crystal clear water of the Gulf. The shoreline is the beautiful white sand backed by the sand dunes.
The canal to St Andrews Bay was busy with small fishing boats, sailboats, commercial fishing vessels, a pirate ship, and large ocean freighters.
Hours passed quickly just watching all the activities.
This pier is handicapped accessible.

My husband and I and our two dogs camped here for a week. We rented a golf cart to drive inside the park. We loved it! The only thing we didn't like was that our dogs weren't allowed on the board walks or the beach.

I got here to late for the ferry to Shell island
However I had a wonderful time picking shells on the beach. Met some new friends, saw the sunset. Great day, lovely experience.
The bathroom was dirty, and the pot holes will damage your car so fix them please.
If you’re going to charge $8 to get in the park hire someone to clean the women’s bathroom twice a day and fix the pot holes

We loved St. Andrews State Park and all the wildlife (some of our pics are attached) but a map of the park indicating where to find the trails along with their details would be extremely helpful. I'd recommend skipping the Shell Island tour. We were under the assumption from everything we read that there would be good birding and shelling opportunities there but sadly, there were neither when we visited--just an expanse of beach. The best part of the trip to Shell Island was the boat ride over there.

Before when I went to Panama beach, I had gone to public access and someone came to the beach with their dog. I love animals but when we have children, our situation is difference. How can I play with my son when I worry about his health! Anyway , I stop my plan for go to public access and I went to this park ! Oh Gosh! Here was amazing and there were shower and restroom! Very clean and anywhere you can seat and enjoy from your time with your family! They didn’t permit to pets ! It was wonderful for me! But somebody smoked similar locomotives! But all things were fine and also you have parking here! Anywhere police look around and protect people and their car from vandalism! I appreciate him. Please don’t forget about tickets. Each people should pay 4 dollar for adults but it is fair because you receive very good service. I am sorry for my long speech! I love you my followers! ❤️😙

Didn't see too much of the Park except for this incredible beach! For a yellow flag day, conditions were near perfect for a wave jumping, boogie boarding, shell searching kind of day. Love how far out the "shallow end" goes. Water was perfectly clear and the sand is beautiful.
Spent the day there...end of March so the line to get in wasn't long and we had a close parking spot. Umbrella rental (2023) was $25 [license as collateral] which was a must for the Florida sun. The umbrella rental stand had other amenities including snorkel set, life jackets .... bikes! Ice cream for a treat. Bathrooms accessible and CLEAN! Another plus, the staff was so friendly.
Kids and I call it a perfect beach day. 5 stars from Michigan.

This was worth the $8 entrance fee for our 7-passenger van.
We walked the gator lake trail and saw turtles and birds. Other people saw a gator but we couldn't find it. We saw people doing professional photographs on this trail. It is quite beautiful.
Then, we headed to the beach to the jetty side of the beach. The jetty is a rock man-made structure that provides a sheltered area to snorkel, swim, paddleboard and kayak. They rent those at the jetty store. Bathrooms and showers, as well as,pavilions with picnic tables are available. It is a beautiful beach!
We were supposed to take the ferry to shell island but opted not to because there are no bathrooms or services of any kind.

Shell Island Beach Tours is a pristine and undeveloped stretch of beach located on an isolated peninsula offshore from St Andrews State Park. The beach boasts clear waters and light, fine sand that make it ideal for sunbathing, swimming, and snorkeling. Such an amazing fruit winery. Normally, I am not a fan of fruit wines. They are usually a grape wine (often muscadine grapes) that is fortified with fruit juice or flavoring. Not something I really enjoyed.
This Winery is a cut above all others because their wines are made from 100% fruit juice. For example, the blackberry wine is made out of 4 lb of blackberries. Likewise, the mango wine is made from mangoes 100%. For us, the hands-down winner was the orange coffee wine. Not only was it very unique, but sipping it prior to eating the desert you could pick up on a lot orange flavor with a hint of coffee in the background. If you took a bite of the desert, the coffee notes were more pronounced. I highly recommend going for the free wine tasting. It was amazing.

We finally made it. We were referred by friends who knew we were wine people. Now, knowing it was all fruit-based wines, I expected a lot of sugary fruit bombs. But I have to say that these wines, while mostly sweet, had a freshness, subtlety and character all their own. If you like traditional dry wines, open up your mind and palette to a new experience. The Passion Fruit and Tomato wines were truly unique and delicious experiences. And the service and staff was top notch! Knowledgable and friendly staff to walk you through your tasting. Would definitely recommend to wine lovers of all levels!

UPDATE: The new owner reached out to me and was very pleased. I’d like to thank you for responding right away.
I would give you a much higher rating. Thank you once again.

I called talked to the Manager. I had bought a lot of wine, moved and it was stored in a box in a dark cool closet. I forgot it was there, found it the other day and a friend was over so opened a bottle, it was terrible stuff floating in the bottle. I poured it down the drain. I sit here with 3 more of the same problem.
Well The response I got from the manager was we have a no return or exchange policy.
Well paying 15-20 dollars a bottle tells me they will never see me in their store again.
Very sad Customer Service.
Plus, there is no expiration date.

I feel like this is a little hidden gem. Alexie was so good at her job and knowledge. All the wines we tasted where good. My favorite was the watermelon and kiwi…DELICIOUS. The store was so cute and a lot of beautiful art. I would highly recommended this place. They had wine slushes and they where just as delicious as the wine. The staff was so friendly and very welcoming. It was very clean and it was just a peaceful setting. Best part.. if you are out of town you can order online!! Love it!

Yes totally recommend!!! Wines are good and not too sweet. Key lime was my favorite wine . I got a raspberry slush which was a tasty treat. The shop is very chill and pretty. Wine tastings are straight forward and theres plenty to choose from. Between the wine, the wine holders , mixers , and cups they have variety. The staff was very knowledgeable and were able to describe the different types of wine to us. We’ll be back!

This local winery is a hidden gem. Julie was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. She explained things well and even provided a dark chocolate dessert for me to enjoy with my orange wine (due to allergies I was unable to have the usual sweet treat). We ended up buying 6 bottles of wine and one syrup to make us wine slushy at home.

The Boll Weevil Monument is a statue erected to honor the locals' resilience and adaptability in pivoting from cotton farming to peanut farming after being affected by pests. The monument stands as a symbol of perseverance and innovation. The statue holds great significance and draws tourists who come to witness its beauty and learn about the history behind it. It was unveiled during the Fall Festival on Main, which creates a lively atmosphere with numerous vendors selling their wares.
Loved it. There was so much to see and do. Lots of vendors and a great atmosphere. Edited to add...these pics were taking during the Fall Festival on Main.

The Boll Weevil Statue in Enterprise, AL, stands as a testament to the resilience and ingenuity of the community. Depicting the insect that inadvertently spurred the town's transition from cotton to more diversified agriculture, it serves as a symbol of adaptability and progress. The statue itself is a well-crafted piece of art, capturing the significance of this historical event. Visitors can appreciate its unique story and its role in shaping the identity of Enterprise.

This is my favorite place to go at night. The water is crystal clear. Don't tell anybody, but sometimes I cup my hands and drink from it. I would not recommend bathing in it considering you are in the middle of downtown and there is a camera 🤣🤣

I have wanted to see the Boll Weevile statute since I read about it in alabama history. 40 years to get here.

This was a neat monument however, being in the middle of intersection made it a little difficult to enjoy closeup.
Downtown Enterprise was very nifty! There's an eclectic mix of clothing, restaurants and specialty shops. Including a photography studio, Ballroom Dance class, Shopaholic, Simply South Boutique, You Nique Boutique, Daughter Dear Boutique pOpshelf, Corks & Cattle Restaurant, to man a few! They also have unique year round events!

We drove for two and a half hours just to take our grandson here. Yes we may be crazy, but it was a learning experience for him that did not involve a screen.

Delighted to learn we were near the only monument dedicated to an insect, we went to check it out. The monument is underwhelming. Tiny and unimposing. Would be a great statue in a park.

In the heart of downtown Enterprise Alabama you can find the Weevil Monument in the middle of the street it's hard to miss this beautiful water fall.

Interesting monument. Much smaller than expected (it's about 6 ft tall or so?) and in the middle of an intersection so it's hard to get a good look at unless you want to stand in traffic. The whole town follows a Boll Weevil theme which was kinda cool

Be careful. The monument is in the middle of the street under a red light in the middle of town. There's a large.parking lot nearby. Don't forget about the boll weevil mural nearby.

Cool monument paying homage to the bug that put Enterprise on the map (kinda). Don’t be afraid to take a photo in front of the statue. It appears to be in the middle of the street, but cars will go around you!

The Boll Weevil monument is what puts the small town of Enterprise Alabama on the map. Worth taking a look if passing through on your way to the Florida beaches.
