Enjoy a ice cream or snack at the small store near the start of the trail.

Easy ~2km hike to see all 7 falls, each unique, though I wonder what’s the minimum height of a waterfall here 🤔 If arriving by bus, get off at Mizutari (水垂) stop instead of the Kawazunanataki stop, so that you can start from first fall (猿田淵) upstream, and walk downstream to cover all 7 falls, instead of having to walk upstream then round trip back down. Another tip, if traveling by bus, is to get the 2 day bus pass at one of the local train stations. Cover all buses between Shuzenji and Kawazu stations for 2400 yen. Ps. got these tips from the very helpful tourist info center staff at Shuzenji station.

Recommend to bring your bathing suits for hot springs and an actual hot spring pool that you are gonna appreciate for sure!

We did not finish the hike ad part way has a lot of stairs up and we were in a timer. The area is a little built up with some businesses and locals but not to bad and allows for a nice path. You are not in the depths of a forest walking dirt paths. But definatly worth visiting if you enjoy nature. If you not overly fit it's not to hard to reach some of them.

Date visited: July 2023 Such a perfect beautiful place to be. Hiking along the amazing 7 waterfalls and the forest is so refreshing. This place is worth a visit, it's peaceful here and the sound of the water relaxes the mind and heart. I suggest to bring a hand towel, extra tshirt and drink with you when you come, and also take a restroom first coz there is no restroom along the path. The pathways are well constructed but be prepared for the high and long stairways. This place is breathtaking..nature indeed is home. Will come here again for sure. One of the best hiking experience with nature.

Free parking is available at the beginning or the end of the self-guided tour. The trail is marked clearly if you start from the beginning. It takes about an hour from waterfall #1 to #7, possibly a bit longer if you linger at the wishing stones, pay tribute to the Seven God statues or take photos. Maybe even enjoy a swim in the crystal blue water. Most of the trail is paved with some steep steps which are manageable. In total it was almost a 2km hike just for the waterfalls (that’s round trip). The trail head continues with 3 more stops if you want to continue hiking in the area.

This place is a hidden treasure. The hotel is right on the beach and all rooms face the ocean meaning you have the beach to yourself, apart from a couple of surfers who know this secret location. The waves are quite good too. Facing the east and the pacific ocean, the sunrise is glorious, and with the sound of the waves while sleeping and meditating over the pacific ocean, one can get peaceful rest here.

Great rooms, nice location in front of the beach but somewhat far from Shimoda. You need a car to enjoy Shimoda but if you just want to enjoy the beach and onsen it’s a nice place. Onsen is satisfactory and food is stupidly expensive compared to the price of the hotel. About 10000 yen per person when it costs about 5000 per person to stay at the hotel.

The hotel room is alright, we paid over $350 US dollars and yet when we got there we had to pay for everything and I mean EVERYTHING. No breakfast that comes with it. No dinner. Even had to pay for ice and water. To top it all off, they suddenly added this onsen tax that was never mentioned to us on the end of our stay. Put up a sign on the counter that was clearly made THE SAME DAY. I know cause they didn’t have that the night before when we got our car keys. I do not recommend this place. Made us pay so much money just for us to pay a lot more during our stay. Save your money.

This is traditional Japanese hotel with big indoor bath and small outdoor bathtub. Breakfast is traditional Japanese and is recommended for people who can eat fish and pickles at morning. Hotel has amazing semi-private beach. I had Japanese style room with futons and terrific sea views. This view is breathtaking and I do recommend to everyone who's searching for peaceful place to rest and relax. Staff can hardly speak English, but they are super helpful. Hotel doesn't offer Restaurants or bars after 8pm. It's really sad, because there's nothing in surrounding.

Food was very basic and adversely proportional for the price we paid. I had requested no fish menu due to allergy at time of booking (my booking included dinner and breakfast), but was not done. The supervisor advised it was an all fish menu and the hotel was a no meat venue so could not be changed! I then asked for no fish menu for breakfast The response was again negative, saying it needed checking and they would call us! I've never had problems with such requests previously. Other hotels would normally reconfirm this request at time of check in Although this was finally done the experience was far from pleasant.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights at the end of the summer season, so the whole Izu Peninsula (especially the beaches) were less crowded. We were in a twin room with a sea view, which is a definite must since it is absolutely breathtaking (see photo). As per the norm in Japan, everything was very clean and the staff were highly professional. I'll agree with the previous reviewer and say that if you speak no Japanese you may have a little difficulty. However, it's nothing insurmountable and it shouldn't deter you from the hotel. We did the breakfast (downstairs, though you can pay extra to have meals in your room), and while it isn't cheap we definitely appreciated it. Not only was the food great (hope you like fish!), but outside of convenience stores there is very little in the area open for breakfast. I could go on and on, but if you're looking for a slow-paced break from the hustle and bustle of the city or want to experience a "traditional Japanese" ryokan, this is a good value for the money. Nice but old fixtures. This ryokan was worth it and then some. The meals were fantastic. 2021 Jul update - previously they included breakfasts, which was great. Now meals are too expensive and not included. Not really recommended anymore.

Hotel looks torn down. Rooms are not clean (lots of dusty spots), walls are covered with dirt. The beach is covered with plastic and trash. Price is way to high for what they offer you. 60'000 yen for 4 people without dinner. I've been in excellent riokans where you have an ultimate experience, excellent food and onsen and that for a smaller price. Would not recommend.
