A highlight of the town and a nice place for walking around. I appreciated that there were so many nice public toilets, especially in the part that touches the town. It just means that anyone can really spend a long time at the lake and chill there.

A nice lake beside a small town. Water is clear and quite calm, you can go swimming in the lake near the town area. Walk about 20minutes further from the main town area and you can see #ThatWanakaTree

Beautiful lake with incredible views from every angle. We had mostly sunny conditions with just a few clouds, and the lighting was amazing for hours. If you want to add a walk to your visit, it may be best to stick to the beach instead of walking on the Waterfall trail. There were a lot of bikers enjoying the weather, so we found that the beach allowed our group to stick to a slower pace.

Lake Wanaka is different from other lakes as it's quite irregular in shape, making it utmost beautiful in every place around Wanaka. You can have totally different feels when driving along SH6, sitting on the jetty at town centre, walking on Roys Peak Track, resting on Mount Iron summit. Take a day or two in Wanaka, and you will definitely feel the beauty and magnificence of Lake Wanaka

Absolutely stunning with so much to see & do. Go boating or take a helicopter ride through the mountains, drive around and see the stunning scenery, visit the town & experience a truly beautiful tourist place with excellent vibes. Close to ski fields, gin distillery & more. Friendly locals always smiling & willing to help. A must see for all ages. Attractions like Warbirds over Wanaka & the toy & car museum. Stunning mountain views especially when snow is on them. Something magical about this place. Always something happening here. Put it on your bucket list & you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful lake with chalets and hotels lining is shores on the one end and massive mountain ranges on the other. Roy's peak is accessed from here which is a hike that takes you to that place you see on Instagram with sprawling views of the lake in all its glory. For the less adventurous, there are kayaks available to rent and other adventure activities

It’s one of my most favourite places in South Island. Gorgeous lake, calm and peaceful, perfect for walking, jogging, bike rides.

Small little town and a big lake. The famous tree is about a 15 minute walk from the town and can be done near the road or the water. The tree is much closer to the edge of the lake than expected, and much smaller than the photos. Nice pit stop in between a long car or bus ride. The weather can change the experience, definitely plan ahead if this is something you want to include in your trip!

A special tree that can give you great inspiration ! The Roys Bay of Lake Wanaka is only a a very small beach but there stands a very special and expensive tree. People call it the "Lone Tree" This willow tree submerged just off the shoreline of Roys bay in Lake Wanaka has become an iconic feature of the town . This photo album is only for this one tree ! This is a comprehensive collection of almost every type of transport you can think of. Some displays have good explanation and/or background stories but most have very little other than the model etc. Cafe was nonexistent but the store itself was full of models to suit everyone. There's a brewery next door with a great selection of beer but they only serve pizza if you're looking for lunch as well.

I came across the museum as I was leaving Wanaka and I had a bit of time to spare so I thought I'd quickly pop in to look around. I landed up staying for more than 2 hours, and I didn't even get to see everything! This place is absolutely wonderful and I'd recommend it to anyone who is in the Wanaka area. The museum has an incredible amount of pieces on display, and there is definitely something for everyone here. Looking through the toys was a wonderful trip down memory lane. The displays have been put together very well, and it's incredible to see the some of the old toys in such a good state. The vast array of vehicles within the different sections of the museum is mind-blowing. From planes, cars and motor bikes to bicycles, boats and fire trucks you can easily spend a whole day exploring this amazing place.

We spent more than 2 hours here checking out the exhibits in the 4 hangars, plus the ones outside too. It seems like there isn't enough space to display all of the things. Neat toy selection too. Some exhibits you are able to go or look inside. Good for the young and old too with toys for sale too

This place is amazing I was in awe the whole time truly takes you back in time. They everything from toys, old computers and radios. All the machines, cars and planes. Truly a must visit in wanaka.

What a lovely place! It is really the best collection of vehicles and planes I have seen in New Zealand. There are an in fathomable amount of vehicles. Enough that my father could find each one of his old family cars! I would recommend closer to 4 hours as it will give you an hour per building. There are also a few things to be seen out the back as well as in the yard. Before in the store as it is best toy store you would of seen in a while, large collections of lego, plastic model, die cast models, dolls, Sylvanian family and more. Highway recommend it for a days activity for all ages!

Beautiful huge place. The amount of cars, planes, motorbikes, toys and so on is amazing! You can spend hours looking at everything. The fire engine collection is amazing!!!! And it's the same with the car collection. You can find cars that are almost 100 years old!! They let you enter to 3 old aeroplanes.

Great place. You will be able to find something that interests you here. Been past many times. Very glad we finally stopped here. It has a bit of everything. Allow enough time to wonder around so you don't miss anything.

Great collection with everything from toy figurines to old typewriters, bicycles to jet aircraft. Something for everyone and could spend ages looking at everything. 90% of the collection is inside several buildings but there's also a few larger pieces outside on display. Didn't check out the cafe but the shop area has a lot of toys on sale.

The Wanaka Toy and Car Museum is an amazing place. There are so many classic cars, trucks and toys. You think you have seen it all and there is yet another building full of old vehicles. There are a number of aeroplanes too. Amongst the toys were a lot of model cars, Barbies and Lego. A word of warning: My wife was following me round but she was getting rather weary by the end of it. Well recommended for those interested in cars.

This was a great place for Dad, Mum and kids. There is a cafe but on the day we were there it was closed

This place is Ridiculous!! So amazing to see all the collections. Cannot recommend highly enough. It is not possible for me to convey in words just how amazing this collection is. Not just transport and toys.

Such a brilliant experience! The toy collection in incredible and a great walk down memory lane. A great way to spend a few hours. The display is very intelligently arranged so that there is something for everyone in each of the four buildings.

This place was awesome it's quite a large area. A recommendation is for them to have maps to give you as there are quite a few different buildings. Well worth a look.

Unbelievable and exciting museum. One of world's hidden wonders, for sure. Amazing collection of almost everything that world has produced in last 150 years. Toys, cars, bikes, chainsaws, engines, boats, airport cars, tractors, fire engines, planes, baby strollers, tanks, dolls, lego sets, hot wheels, model trains, model cars, decorative spoons, irons, fax machines, vintage computers, cans and... on and on. It's not possible to write it all. 10000% must see in South Island.

The sheer size of this. It just has so much to look at! For Lego fans and toy fans in general, the toy exhibits amazing. The cars, so many but none restored or shown very well. Even so, great to stroll thru this collection of mostly old British cars and a few American cars. The planes are great too.

Awesome experience at the museum with a 3 years old. We could spend all day here. Lots of things to see and play with. Highly recommend to stop by!

What a treasure trove of collectibles to explore. We were only there for 2 hours, but could have seen a lot more of we had time. We'll definitely go back again.

A true joy for the eyes, with tens of thousands of all sorts of toys, antiques, airplanes to visit, and probably over a hundred cars! Adult audiences will definitely enjoy it more than kids, but it's sure fun for the whole family. Absolutely recommended ❤️
