The Castle of Gjirokastra is a renowned landmark that overlooks the city and features military exhibits, a clock tower and a church. It has been in existence since the 12th century, with much of its current state dating back to the early 19th century. The castle was used as a prison during communist rule and is now open to visitors for an entrance fee of 200 Lek.
Great place to visit. Definitely worth checking out when you’re in the city. Adult ticket is 400Lek and another 200Lek for entering the museum itself. Gets busy during the day so choose the early hours.
Lots of descriptions, everything in English as well.
Well equipped and after full restoration will be even nicer.

Coming from this USA, this castle was pretty cool to see considering one of our planes from the cold War is there. You get to read about the history and see all of the views this castle had to offer plus the cannons. There isn't much inside the castle to look at. More waking around and taking in the views.
Adrianna Tondi — Google review
It’s a nice well preserved castle, the tour takes easily an hour if you go slowly.
You have a very good 360 view of the city around but also the big mountains, the river, and the valley which is very nice !
It’s a bit crowded, we were surprised, there was a small 10-15 min queue even to get in.
PREPARE YOUR CASH: it’s 400 Lek per person for the entrance ! That’s a shame, as we travelled around the country and this is the first paid attraction we do!
Salem Alsamour — Google review
Must visit if you are in Albania
The views are amazing like right out of a postcard specially when the sky is clear and sunny!
The castle will take you back in time and even if you aren’t a history enthusiast you would be fascinated by reading some of the stories thats mentioned around the castle. We took our time checking out each and every corner which took us around hour and a half approx.
The entry fee inside the castle was like 800 lek for 2 people which im guessing is a tourist price but didn’t mind it after we got to see some spectacular views on a nice sunny day. We didn’t go inside the museum though which i guess would be charged extra.
But overall worth going here and then there is this picturesque old town right down the castle few steps away which is like the star of our trip till now.
Suchandra Sarkar — Google review
Not a lot to do here, a lot of it was under construction. Lovely view from the top. Lots of cannons to see. Good way to waste an hour and a half max. Very cheap to enter. Toilet facilities are a bit rustic.
Bels Overton — Google review
A huge castle to explore, full of cold war cannons, tanks and an abandoned US fighter jet. Well worth the steep approach! Allow about an hour to take in the views and read about the history while visiting the worthwhile museum. Definitely the highlight of this brilliant little town!
Mike Ellis — Google review
We had a wonderful experience visiting the castle! The location is truly beautiful and impressive. The ticket price of 4 euros per person is affordable, making the visit all the more enjoyable.
However, before we go, I want to warn you about the facilities available. Due to the fact that the location is dotted with cisterns, it is essential that you have a bottle of water with you that you can refill during your visit, especially as the location is vast and you will need water along the way.
Also note that before entering the Old Town, there is a paid underground parking lot to leave your car. Make sure you have valid coins or payment methods to avoid inconvenience.
Another important point to mention is that the location has no safety fences, which means you need to keep a close eye on children to avoid accidents.
All in all, the castle is definitely worth visiting due to its beauty and reasonable ticket price. Be prepared with water for the visit and make sure to look after the little ones. However, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time exploring this impressive location!

Amazing place to visit! The views are stunning. You can see the Unesco village, the mountains and the valley. The castle has a lot of history and is well preserved after the renovation. The festival area is a great spot for nice pictures. Would definitely recommend a visit.

Very nice location, but we were missing some guidance. We would have liked if there was some explanation now and then. On the other hand, it was nice to imagine your own story while walking trough this amazing medieval castle.
Lomme De Pauw — Google review
Typical place for tourists but no worries travelers......worth to pop in. The castle is amazing, well preserved....history went over this place and left a treasure here. Loads shops around to buy something typical and loads restaurants to relax and have something nice for your belly. View are amazing there. I m not fun of touristic spots but from time to time it s good to learn about people and their roots, what created them, their culture and habits. You ll see if you see this place.....will be definitely welcome.
Daniela Jasovska — Google review
Enjoyed the walk up to the castle and the entrance fee was 400ALL each, that however was only for the castle as there was another fee for the museum of Arms, which was 200ALL. We found this frustrating as we asked before paying what ticket we needed . They could just charge 600ALL as you cannot get into the museum without entering the castle.
The castle was very good lots of renovation work being carried out, it will be amazing once finished. Some information boards with English which was good.
The views were fantastic .

Few days ago, we were there and they are having the festival Floklorik and open accept the ONLINE ticket for entrance. It's a place full of history but I would love to have more explanation / history info with sign/panel. It's beautiful but I have no idea what's the each area/room for in the ottoman's time.
The Albania set up a great stage for the event which we met the performance people doing rehersal there, so cool!

Beautiful views on the city. You can walk by yourself or do an audio guide. Throughout the site are info boards with interesting facts. Don’t miss the timeline at the right side when you enter.
400 Lek for entrance, if needed you can park (limited places)

Loved it! Worth the money. We paid 400 leke (if you want to visit the museum it will be 200 leke more, but we didn't)
It is very informative and there is a lot to see + a great view from the top
It's very cool inside so that's nice for hot summer days
There are a lot of interesting stories all around the castle from which you can learn new things
Monica's Travels — Google review
Most recently used during communist era of Albanian history to imprison and destroy, it is a somber, yet fascinating place with at least 1500 years of history layered in its foundations and walls. The view from the top of the walls is incredible. The outer arches which once contained the markets and displayed artisan wares spike the imagination. The sheer amount of stone in this enormous castle is mind blowing. Definitely worth the visit, the history, the views, the reflection and imagining.
charlene inman — Google review
Great place all around.
It's a small historical palace and the market around the place is beautiful as well.
Modassir — Google review
This is MUST SEE of the beautiful city Gjirokastër. I highly recomend to visit this beautiful place.
The entrance fee is 4€/400leke, there is extra 2€/200leke if your want to enter the museum in the Castle (history of Castle - English describtion, Guns collection with history of the WW2 and the Communism prison - no English describtion).
The views from the Castle are astonishing (in the very positive way).
DON'T MISS THIS BEAUTIFUL PLACE!
zuzana kubalikova — Google review
Very interesting! They have scheduled events going on inside the castle, check it before visiting for added experience. We were able to watch like a piano competition of children and they were all very good. The history surrounding the castle was very interesting. Would visit again
Marianne SG — Google review
Amazing experience. It requires a good walk uphill to get there. However, there may be a better way to drive there for those with difficult mobility.
We paid 200 LEK each for entrance in September.
This is really cheap for the size of the place and how interesting it is.
It lacks some explanation around the history, and guided tours were not available. However, it was not an issue as the views and the information available made this visit one of the highlights of our trip.
Luiz Alberto de Assis — Google review
This was a lovely castle with plenty to do, walking around, stories and beautiful scenery. It also is very inexpensive. Have to have their local money.
A three store beautiful house from the early 19th c. Some of the rooms are furnished according to it's initial use. The main room is really beautiful. Worth the visit for 200 l.
The person that worked there gave us a beautiful tour around the house

Is one of the original Ottoman era houses built in 1700 & rebuilt in 1823. Beautiful building, but the condition of the building in some areas is not great, not well kept & not restored. Entry is 300 lek

Stunning heritage building and very informative tour by a guide coming from the family actually owning this architectural treasure!
David Haberlah — Google review
A nice place to visit while in Gjirokastra. Got a guided tour for 200 lek per person, where we were shown around all the rooms in the house.
Probably a must-see if you want to experience some of the old Ottoman architecture.
Nikolai Orheim — Google review
Really cool! Shows how life looked like in the old Gjirokastra houses. Plus the view from the upper floor is breathtaking!!!!
For the cheap ticket, definitely recommend.
Avely Pütsep — Google review
This is a unique and memorable cultural travel experience. *Much better* than the Ethnographic Museum! It is a (wealthy) family house from 1700, completely preserved. After entering, you get guided through all 3 floors of the mansion by Edlira who has a lot of knowledge about the rooms, its objects, and the customs of 18th century life in Gjirokaster. Not pictured here is the most beautiful of the rooms, where no photos are allowed. Or any of the small hamam rooms.
This museum is 300 lek entry. A must-see in my opinion.
Damian Tapley — Google review
Looked nice from the outside but like many of the sights in the city, except the castle, it is closed! I wanted to go to the ethnographic museum but this was closed too. The roads all round are being dug up. I guess it's all going towards tourism in summer, which is a shame.
Jen M — Google review
A fascinating tour given by the house owner's daughter, with lots of information about her ancestors' way of life. She's a very engaging guide with a strong personal connection and the house and setting is beautiful and well preserved.
Tom Higgs — Google review
For 300Lek ticket price no equivalent value.
In the only nicer room with painting around the fireplace photography was not permitted.
Somewhat disappointing..
Peter Hessel — Google review
I was very excited to see this house. I have travelled to over 25 countries, and I try to be as respectful of people's cultures, rules, requests etc... at all times. As I am a human, and prone to making mistakes, I unfortunately missed a sign stating no photos in their upper "premiere" room (which was beautiful I may add). When the young man giving the tour saw me lining up my camera, he said no photos. I immediately stopped. In fact, I didn't even take one. Where this low rating comes from, was his insistence on humiliating a tourist in front of strangers, claiming how could I miss the large sign (which wasn't THAT huge), asking me if I took a photo, and then claiming he saw me take it! I denied it, and he continued to argue that I did. I had to invite him to come over and look at my photos...which he felt the need to do! I have loved 100% of my interactions with all local Albanians....minus this young man. I'm hoping he has a chance to reflect on this situation and improve his interactions with tourists. The house is still worth a visit, but beware of taking photos!
Jarrett Schill — Google review
This house brings an interesting view to history. Unfortunately to a price of 300 lek, which I think are too much. I don’t mind paying and the money being used to preserve this place, but the price is not justifiable. The lady at the entrance was not really friendly or welcoming, but gave us a tiny tour later on.
Heisenberg — Google review
There was a lady there giving us detailed introduction of every room and the stories of the house and Skenduli family. More interesting than I expected. I didn’t see much in Gjirokastër as the bus driver didn’t give too much time but Skenduli House made the trip worth it.
Lexi LUO — Google review
Such a beautiful house. We went through the house on our own. Would be helpful if information was on each floor. Perhaps a person with English as a first language could edit the descriptions as the translations are awkward. Perhaps a donation box could be available for a project. We noticed some leaking due to rain. This house is so special and I am certain the upkeep is expensive. After the castle, this house is highly recommended.
Marilyn Drews — Google review
That would actually take 3.5 stars.
Entry price is 300lek/3euro. I guess the man who guided us is the current owner of the house, informed us about the use of some rooms. In the upper two floors there is the main hall with paintings, a few bedrooms decorated old-style and another room, where women got to meet their future husbands back in the 18th century (photos are not allowed there).
Worth a visit if you have spare time, but you won't miss something special if you don't go. Visit time is 15-20 minutes.

This museum and excursion could be much more interesting and impressive, but it's really nice that still the house is well kept and opened for everyone

The current owner gave us a brief introduction and explained the function of the main rooms. But it's forbidden to take photos in the most beautiful room.

Akrotiri Beach Resort Hotel is a sea-view property with 2 bars, an eatery and an infinity pool. Guests can enjoy breakfast at the hotel every morning. The staff are very friendly and professional. The only thing guests may not enjoy is the quality of the food at breakfast.
Excellent place to stay. The views are fantastic, the staff are all very helpful and welcoming and speak a lot of languages! The main hotel was very clean and tidy and has obviously been given a lick of paint recently.
Our room was very pleasant, a huge bed, amazing view over the bay and it was clean, tidy and quiet. A small fridge to keep your beer and wine in for an evening tipple on the balcony.
Our room did look a little tired, but they are tarting them all up and it didn't detract at all.
The pool is lovely (if a little chilly at the beginning of September!) and the bar there does good drinks and excellent food.
There's a new nice little bar on the beach which also has full drinks and food service for guests.
The free wifi was surprisingly good too.
My first time in Corfu, absolutely won't be the last and I'm certain I'll stay here again next time.

Positives: Great location, main beach with calm water and Rocky beach to snorkel or relax in more secluded area. Available seating by the beach or on the floors with view on the beach. Rooms are quite spacious but not 4 stars. Food was good. Supermarket in walking distance. Pool was nice and clean. Bars available everywhere. Staff was professional.
Negatives: No free shuttle from/to airport if stay is under 7 days. Paying for water was not pleasant. Also no drinks are included during dinner, everything was extra. I would at least expected water or soft drinks to be included. No special deals on boat rentals which is quite common to do in order to explore surroundings.

What a wonderful time & experience we had at the Akrotiri hotel. We availed of the free taxi service offered by the hotel when booking direct with them. The reception staff were so welcoming and helpful all of the time. The rooms were beautifully decorated and the view made our mornings! The cleaning staff were so so lovely and were always greeting us with a smile. They looked after our room wonderfully and the hotel was immaculate. We cannot wait to return, I have never visited a hotel twice but I would make sure to go back to Akrotiri Beach hotel again! They go above and beyond and quite honestly it was an unforgettable holiday and the hotel staff & the location was to thank for that!

Amazing view from the room - superior east (open sea), very tasty breakfast, one of the best beach I have seen on Corfu island with direct access from the hotel. - Some (but not a lot) of restaurants in the area.
Negatives:
- Bathroom was old and dated. Hot water did not always work.
- Breakfast was average at best.
- Mosquitoes very present in the area.
- No gym.
- No shuttle buses.

I almost have no words to describe the amazing time me and my husband had at this hotel. We loved absolutely everything! Location is perfect, our room was super comfortable and with an amazing view, food was great and the staff is just the most lovely and helpful people! Honestly, thanks so much for providing us this amazing time!

Really lovely, albeit expensive hotel. The rooms are fantastic and the people are very kind. Buffet dinner was fantastic. Wonderful live music on the terrace last night. A great place to stay in Corfu.

The hotel is located on a cliff overlooking an amazing view of the sea. The hotel beach is down many steps and is rocky, suitable for those in good shape. The beach on the other side is Akron Beach, a beautiful beach with clear water. Those who intend to enjoy the beaches should know that there is no access for the disabled, you have to go down a lot of stairs. The hotel staff is kind and smiling, they help in everything. The rooms are spacious and pleasant with a balcony overlooking the view. The breakfast is nice, but I expected more. The offer is quite routine and repeats itself every morning. All in all, we can say that the hotel is very nice and recommended for a belly vacation.
megi davidi — Google review
The Rocky beach is one of its kind and perfect for couples (children are not allowed there) with great snorkeling spots close by. The infinity pool has a stunning view over the bay and the live music at night was great too. The food was better than average but couldn't compare to local Tavernas.

Really lovely hotel in a beautiful location. We stayed in a beach facing room but I imagine any room has a fantastic view, as the area is very picturesque. The food is really good - I recommend the a la carte, incredible value! Go on a boat trip if you get chance - the water is stunningly clear. And we saw dolphins!
Sophie Lloyd — Google review
The hotel is fantastic, set in a picturesque location with access to a beautiful beach. Most areas were recently refurbished and the hotel bar, terrace and the beach bar look very modern and classy!
The rooms are nice, (our room was also recently refurbished), we had a sea view and the view from the room is breathtaking! The only downside was the air con which was pretty loud.
The staff are very helpful, friendly and attentive.
Overall definitely recommend, my partner and I had a 5 star experience!
Anna Murawska — Google review
Fantastic location with great beach options on both side. Crystal clear sea. Hotel was well managed with very nice, friendly staff.
The key reason for 4 stars (instead of 5) is the food and drinks. There was a certain level of carelessness in the buffet, the a la carte options and even in the cocktails or coffee in the morning.
Tongu? B?y?k?oban — Google review
The hotel was very good overall. The building and the rooms are very well decorated. The view from the room was amazing. The beach was well organized and the sea is very clear. The staff was helpful. The only thing was there was a light sewage smell in the hotel, even in the room. The reception lady told that it is about the infrastructure of the island and it happens sometimes. But it was not that bad. I definitely recommend the hotel.
Aylin Tunali — Google review
We had a wonderful experience at this hotel, which offered a breathtaking view. We were fortunate to have a superior room that provided an amazing view of the sea. Upon our arrival, we noticed a few issues with the room, but once we brought them to the attention of the staff, they promptly addressed and resolved them. This quick response and effective problem-solving contributed to our overall positive impression of the hotel.
The location of the hotel is truly incredible. Guests have the option of enjoying a stunning beach right in front of the property or a rocky beach, which happened to be our favorite, located near the pool area. The availability of both types of beaches added to the overall appeal and provided diverse experiences for guests.
However, the pool was the weak aspect of this hotel. Given the spectacular view, we expected a large infinity pool that would complement the surroundings. Unfortunately, when we checked it out, we found it to be too small and crowded considering the size of the hotel. This was somewhat disappointing, as the potential for a more impressive pool experience was evident.
Additionally, the service at the hotel fell short of our expectations, which is why we are giving it a rating of four stars. We acknowledge that service standards in Greece can generally be higher, and in comparison, the service we received at this hotel didn't quite meet those expectations.
Balkis JEBLAOUI — Google review
Thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Very friendly staff and clean modern rooms. The location is what makes it amazing though. A private rocky beach to one side (perfect for snorkelling and daytime sunbathing) & access to a public sandy beach the other side with a private bar and loungers for sundowners. Would absolutely stay again and really recommend!
Issy Sykes — Google review
Rooms are ok, with amazing views. However, rooms' decor feels a little cheap, and there are small nagging things, like an emergency light in the kids room that is very bright throughout the night, or the smell of sewage from the balconies of some of the rooms.
The swimming pool is amazing, however there are not enough sunbeds.
The Jacuzzi is a nice touch, however the water wasn't hot.
The biggest disappointment was the lack of free sunbeds at the beach, which means that with all the money we paid for the place, we had to pay extra for sunbeds, or use a beach towel on the pebbles
Saul Adereth — Google review
Amazing and fabolous! The hotel is in a beautiful setting on a beautiful turquoise clear water beach. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The food at the buffet restaurant was very tasty, with lots of choices every morning. We were surprised by the quality of the local restaurants around the hotel. No need to rent a car. We took taxi boats every day to different beaches which were stunning! Both beaches (rocky beach and front beach) were family friendly, clean and pleasant. Sun beds must be reserved inadvance. Our room was comfortable, everything was of decent quality. We will definitely be booking
as well for next year.
Naama Koren — Google review
Great hotel with picturesque view!!! I really recommend staying in this hotel. Breakfast is varied and tasty. Our family suite was clean. However, it was very disappointing to find out that we have to pay for sunbeds at the hotel's beach (25 euros after a 50% discount). In my opinion it would have been nice to give the hotel guests free beds every day or at least for half of the nights staying at the hotel.
The Monastery Paleokastritsa is situated on a promontory and boasts stunning panoramic sea views. It houses a museum containing various religious artifacts that reflect the area's rich history. This popular tourist attraction is renowned for its serene environment and ancient prayer hall, complete with comfortable seating options. Although it can become crowded during peak hours, the friendly staff ensures that the monastery remains well-maintained. Visitors are treated to beautiful flowers outside while enjoying breathtaking views of the surrounding waters.
One of the best touristic spots of the island. I really enjoyed visiting this gorgeous monastery for one entire afternoon. It might get touristy during the morning hours. But the staff were friendly and ensure the place was kept tidied. The prayer hall was quite ancient and the seating options were appreciated. The flowers outside were so pretty like the stunning views of the surrounding waters.
The toilet facilities outside the temple weren’t that good.
But the overall serenity of the place was brilliant and I would regard this as the best.

A beautiful Greek Orthodox Monastery located in Paleokastritsa, Corfu, with great views inside and out, a museum of old garments used, and much more. Stunning place, but not for the unsure of foot, the walk up to it is a test, but you can take your car up and drop off, ladies cover up, show some respect, gentlemen take off your hats when entering the Monastery grounds. Enjoy. Xxx

A gorgeous little mountaintop monastery overlooking the beach and sea. The quarters surrounding the church have lovely arches covered with vines and pots everywhere. The church is beautiful with lovely frescos. The views are stunning. There is an interesting little museum. The only downside is the charge for the toilet but I understand they need to pay for maintenance.

By far one of the best places to see in Corfu. The Monastery is absolutely breath taking - the only downside is the ridiculous amount of tourists that have no respect for the property by stepping on the beautiful flowers for their selfies.
If you can look past the tourists there is a very short trial which leads you to the cliff where the views are breathtaking. It’s absolutely worth it and there’s free parking just below! …. And lovely dogs!

Beautiful monastery with stunning sea views and a little gift shop. If your shorts/skit/dress is not knee-length you will be asked to wear a skirt-cover, which they provide on entry. Nice architecture, a little museum and flowers everywhere. I would say 45 minutes is plenty to enjoy this site.

The village of Palaiokastritsa and surrounding area is probably one of the most popular spots to visit on the island and the crown jewel is the iconic monastery set atop the cliffs commanding sweeping views of the coastline. The climb to the monastery is fairly short with a few steeper sections and plenty of spots for photos (and rest if you need it!). There's also a small car park at the top with limited parking.
The monastery itself is free to wander around and explore (remember to have shoulders and knees covered out of respect) with a lovely chapel, beautiful gardens and nice views. There is also a souvenir shop on site.
Outside of the monastery there are also some short trails leading to spectacular views from the surrounding cliffs.

Very pretty view, calm atmosphere. The staff is super kind

It's am amazingly beautiful view from the cliff where the Monastery is located! The entrance is for free, for women entering inside it's better to cover shoulders and wear longer bottoms, however there are some kind of shawl available by the entrance that you can use for a donation of your choice.

Highly recommend to visit it! It’s in beautiful place with great views. No entry fee, but some donations can be done. The place is very well taken care off and has many beautiful flowers. We watched a sunset there - super beautiful!

A nice, bot too big monastery with little museum. Don'r forget to bring some cash (which I did) if you want to light a candle or buy a souvenir because it's cash only. No entrance fee though

We loved the calm vibe. Pastel green planters and stone ceilings were amazing.

Very nice place to visit with great views over the bay. It's free and you can walk around the monastery and the different viewpoints. Women should cover shoulders and knees but they offer scarves to borrow. Would recommend to drive up by car.

Definitely a top place to visit while on Corfu. Beautiful beaches, amazing cliffs, lots of caves. I highly recommend to rent a boat and have a cruise to see all these places from sea perspective with possibility to spend some time on beaches that are not accessible from land. Quite hard to find a place to park a car, the best is to use free parking by the Alipa Port.

Lovely place! The road to the Monastery is beautiful with gorgeous view of the island. The Monastery is really special, nice building and fantastic flowers. We loved it,suggest to visit. No tickets,,it's free, woman have to hide knees and shoulders.
Sidari Beach is a picturesque and bustling beach with free and rental sunbeds that features waterfront restaurants and recreation. The beach is perfect for sunset watching, as it is only a short walk away from D Amour Beach.
Beautiful small beaches, we went just before the season started so most shop were shut but still plenty to see and do. Water sports place was open so we hired a boat for 2 hours. Great fun

If there wasn't for the "Canal D'Amour" I would evaluate the beach a lot less than 5*, but that natural beauty deserves it and it is worth seeing it.
The beach is big but common one, with a slow entrance in water with sand.
For me not the best since there were a lot of kids and not a spectacular water to be able to do snorkeling.
Raluca Andreea — Google review
A beautiful beach, sunbeds here cost 15 euros, but if you have a drink and fit within 15 euros, you don't pay for drinks. They have it well thought out. Otherwise, the beach is beautiful, big, the sea a bit cloudy, but for me a beautiful place.
Pavla Štěpánková — Google review
Long Beach has many sunbeds, but it's nothing special. If you're looking to rent a boat, I highly recommend Sidri Original Yellow Boats. The owner provides excellent service (see pictures).
Shay Pardo — Google review
Love this beach the water is so warm shallow and safe for young children (supervised) if you swim (snorkel) along the cliff side on the left towards deeper water we saw numerous fish and even two different shoals of fish of different sizes
Linn Watson — Google review
It's ok, not the best beach on the island and Sidari is not the most upmarket town. It does however have a few interesting rock formations, caves and coves.
Steve Bonnage — Google review
I wasn't expecting much compared to Canal d'Amour, but I was surprised. Sidari Beach is a scenic, sandy beach with great views over the Ioanian. Further up the beach, you can see the rock formations that make up the D'Amour beach. It does get busy since it's closer to the main strip, though it's quite a large beach, so you shouldn't struggle for a space. A little run down in certain parts (some litter and exposed wiring near a building), but it didn't ruin the experience. The sea is actually quite warm at this beach! Plenty of bars/restaurants back onto the beach.

My favorite beach in Corfu from the ones that we have visited, of course.
If you are there, try Greek Village, they have free sunbeds, good cocktails and amazing food, also the stuff is very friendly.

+Nice big sandy beach. Free sunbeds while using the bars for drinks and food.
+Nice clean water, suitable for small kids.
+Big free parking at 3 min from the beach.
+Recomand the chinese back massage (Lisa has magic hands)
-They could clean a bit more the sandy beach.

A large sandy beach with plenty of bars and restaurants backing onto it. There is a jetty with benches on however when I was there today the sea was rough and waves came over and covered the benches.

Located between Himara and Saranda, the Castle of Porto Palermo, also known as the Castle of Ali Pasha, is a must-see stop on your journey. The fortress offers a glimpse into history with its dark corridors and eerie staircases leading to breathtaking sea views from the rooftop. The well-preserved fortress is maintained by a friendly caretaker who shares interesting details about its history.
Un unforgettable experience. We came there to see the beautiful landscape and the castle
We were all alone and we met Alexander, an historian teacher who explain us the history of Ali Pacha, the castle, Albanian situation,... What a wonderful man, full of kindness and intelligence. We will not forget you, many thanks 🙏✨️
You can't miss that!!!

The castle is near the main road SH85 and i dicided to stop and see it while driving from himare to sarande. From the beach it may take 3 to 5 mins to reach the castle. The man who takes care of it is nice. He asked where i from and told me he was in stuttgart messe to introduce the castles to the germans. The rooms are kept original without electric lights, so it is a little dark inside. There are notes near each entrance telling what room they are. The prinson room is very interesting but it must be very bad to stay inside without windows and lights. The panorama view plattform looks like a smaller version of dubrovnic in croacia. Through the small windows of the small towers i took some pictures which look like oil paintings.
In the future if there are more tourists they may try making a musuem out of it with some furnitures at the time and paintings on the wall to reproduce what it looked like before wenn it was in use. It may cost a lot though to do this and it may be a long process.

Entrance only costs 300 lek per person. It's worth visiting when you're nearby. The castle also has art inside.

You should not drive all the way to this castle for a visit. There is absolutely no information to be found inside the castle about its history. I gave it two stars for the view on the terrace, but this view can also be found on the roads surrounding the castle. You pay 300 lek to go inside.

Ottoman-era castle built by Ali Pashe Tepelena for his wife. The castle stand on a little island surrounded by sea and wrapped around by the Bay of porto palermo. The Bay has a unique microclimate and flora. Stunning views from the terraces of the castle, which served as a military post during the communist regime.

Im not talking specifically about the catle. But about the private unpopulatet beaches near it. Theyre marvelous. If youre like me and you dont like crowded or you want the beach all to yourself with not many pople or umbrellas. Then its the perfect place. Grab your cooler a few drinks and snacks and enjoy the turquoise water and the rocky sand.

Stunning old fortress between sea and mountains! Huge walls of three meters wide. Worth to see it inside! There is a real well preserved old prison in the center of the castle without any window - in absolute darkness, a bit creepy)) And amazing panoramic viewpoint on the roof. Highly recommend to visit!

History and sea views all in one! The castle was absolutely stunning and the view from the rooftop breathtaking. The history of the place made it all more beautiful because we felt like we were reliving the life of ali pasha, his wife and all the other people who were in the castle. The doorman was really nice and gave us a few more detail on the history which made it more special. Highly recommended because even if you're someone not into history the view is worth it.

Very long and beautiful sandy beach. The water is clean and the sea is shallow. There are a lot of free zones as well as zones with umbrellas and chairs so you can choose. You can take a boat to Porto Timoni beach. Also from the path to Porto Timini you get a great view to the beach.

This is a beautiful beach really wide and the water is really clear. The restaurant very good and the food was delicious. You have to try it if you are here
The Kanali tou Erota beach is picturesque and secluded between rock formations. It's a great place to relax with a book or take a sun bath. There are several coves and canals nearby that make it an interesting destination for swimming.
I loved the sunset here,we went there 2 days. The best time is in the evening, I loved to swim trough the canal d’amour, and there’s also a love legend. Not to mention how romantic is this place.
Himeshi costa — Google review
Such a stunning place to visit. The view is beautiful, and the water shallow and clear. You can actually swim in the canal, which is like a cave (you can’t see it in the photos, you need to swim there).
The myth about the canal is cute and interesting. Such a romantic destination!
Local Guide — Google review
Very small little bay about 10 metres wide fenced in by 2 outcrops of beige stone. The Canal D'amour has a local legend. If you swim out through it with your loved one, you stay together forever, or if you swim it single, you meet the love of your life within a year. Nice legend reality is not so good bars built almost on top of it and way too many people and loud music
Picturesque if you look out towards sea not so looking back in land from the water
Dave T — Google review
There is a car park here. A large area of layered rocks with footpaths and walkways on it. A few beaches inside but the majority of it is an inlet of fast waves which splash up the walls. There is an area to get from one side to the other which I imagine would be very slippery.
It’s a very scenic place and an interesting destination if you were to visit the north of the island

An amazing spot to spend some time. The canal is very beautiful looking and surrounded by rocks that offer a breathtaking view over the Ionian Sea and Albania. Don’t hesitate to jump in the water as the waves give it a pleasant experience. There are many great restaurant nearby that offer lunch with a great view. All in all it is a great experience that is worth the drive from Corfu town.

It’s nice , if you are on Corfu it’s not a waste of time to see it - but there was so many people that we didn’t had the nerv to go into the water. Overall it’s a nice place

The place is beautiful, you have all the conditions for a nice vacation. In this location there is also a small cave, you will surely be impressed by this location. Next to the beach you have a coffee bar where you can have the tastiest drinks.
Sergiu Badicu — Google review
The road to the beach is muddy so be careful, I’d recommend wearing shoes. I don’t think there’s an actual beach bar so be well prepared to bring umbrellas and towels. It’s way too overcrowded, you can walk and sit on the rocks but be careful. It’s a unique beach and it’s worth visiting. The day we went there the water looked a bit dirty cause it was windy. It also has a cave and it’s really nice for jumping into the water.

Beautifully Corfu landmark and a must go if doing a road trip! You can walk around and swim. We went in April and there was some people but mostly empty… I can imagine that in summer it gets crazy so try to go very early to see the beauty of it.
Angella Vecchione — Google review
Only worth one star ⭐ due to the potential. This place could be a lot better but the beach is really more like a mud pen and the waters are cloudy, probably due to sediment cliffs crumbling into the sea. On the journey to the beach you are greeted with an apocalyptic looking hotel with a smashed glass window barrier which is dangerous to anyone with wandering kids. Check the photos. Overall, disappointing, try one of the many other much nicer beaches like Porto timoni.
Gjipe Beach is a secluded and picturesque white sand beach located between Dhermi and Vuno. The beach is surrounded by large cliffs, and there are caves that can be explored in the area. This hidden gem is mostly undeveloped, making it an ideal destination for those seeking peace and solitude.
This was without any doubt, my favorite visited beach in Albania.
To get there, you have to drive until’ you reach the parking lot of the beach, the lady that works there is very helpful, you have to pay 300 LEK for the parking place. To reach the beach you have to walk 20 min, it’s a pretty difficult road, but it was all worth it.

It's a cool hideout specially in summer times I belive. I love the place, but the road or the hike to it is all messy and cracky. It's only a 3 KM round trip hike. Takes a 20 min down and 25 min up.
The trail full of Bunkers 😄, people were crazy building those bunkers, found 7 of them, how much did you found?
Yehia El Zeiny — Google review
Beautiful beach between cliffs! You have to walk 20 minutes aprox to get to the beach from the parking.
I read in many reviews the road was difficult, but I didn’t felt that way, it’s just full of stones. I made a picture of it for you to see.
Landscape was worthy!
I recommend!

Beautiful beach with a great natural surroundings but ruined by the people running the restaurants and bars (very rude and unfriendly), by the wild camping, by having the whole beach covered in sunbeds and umbrellas and litter and rubbish all over. I don't regret visiting it but I don't recomend it at all !
Jo?o Fernandes — Google review
I have to admit I had way more expectations given the reviews.
At the end, it is just another beach with pebbles.
You need to park and pay 300 lekes, 3 euros. Then walk 20 minutes.
There are 3 restaurants. We had lunch at the first one and we had to wait literally 1 hour for a salad, a fish and the worst chicken ever, completely dry.
Jaume Ávila Estivill — Google review
Beautiful secluded beach. Giving 4 stars because of the hike to get down there (which is why it's so secluded). Wear good shoes if you decide to make the trip. Also must pay to park as well. besides that, the water was crystal clear. There were food stands available if needed. Dogs roaming the beach to play with. Beach was a bit Shelly, so I'd recommend one you get there. Gorgeous views from the walk too.

In August 2021 I had a vacation in Albania. And we visited this beach. It is very beautiful place but the road is very difficult. ( Like all roads in Albania, in fact).
We rented a car and went from Vlora. Firs we overcame the mountain serpentine (about 2 hours), then we turned on a one-way trail and drived about 50 minutes to the parking. By the way, parking was paid. Then, we walked to the beach under hot sun about 40 minutes. And finally we were there. But there were a lot of people and all the umbrellas were occupied.
I think, better to go to the Gjipe beach in low season. Because in August there are traffic jam, very hot weather and a lot of tourists.

After the climb down its a nice little beach, no sand though as usual.. Would of liked to paddle board but not worth carrying it the 40 mins walk down..
Roamin Rob — Google review
One of the most beautiful beaches ever. You can reach it half by car and rest walking, or by boat 🚢 like us and enjoy the wonderful nature surrounded. Water seems you can drink it because is crystal clear.
Ermida Hasani — Google review
Very quiet on the month of early March! It's really cold and we couldn't go into the sea, however comfortable to chill with carpet at the place and enjoy the colors of nature. The hike is long and rocky, quite challenging to walk non-stop as it's one direction up/down hike. Water are very clear and it is as beautiful as you can see in the pictures.
Yan Ying Lim — Google review
It takes about 15-20 minutes walking to get to the beach but it is definitely worth the effort despite the scorching heat and sweat. On the way back, up the hill it is even more challenging but you won’t regret it as the beach is gorgeous. You can leave your car at the parking place which is chargeable 300 Lek. On the beach there are sun beds for rental and plenty of space to sit on your own blanket or a towel but make sure you have your own umbrella or tent to hide as there isn’t much shade nearby. A few beach bars to get refreshing drinks and crystal-clear water to cool down and have a swim. You may also take up the hiking trail into the canyon and explore the sight if you feel like. Gjipe Beach is one of the most incredible places in the coast of Albania and if you happen to drive by, make a stop and have a look around.

Best beach of all albania.
To reach it you have to walk for 30 minutes on a dirt street. Shoes are suggested.
You can observe the gjipe canion and at the same time gjipe beach. Just amasing.

The most beautiful beach we went to in Albania. You have plenty of parking but it costs 300LEK for the day. The road to the beach is like a 25m trek. Not that hard but just keep that in mind. The road to the parking is really badly designed one way road with a few side parking spots whenever a car comes for the opposite but curbs are really high so you cant just pull to the side with a normal car.
Zsolt Ferencz — Google review
One of the most beautiful beaches near Himare. From the parking lot you have to walk 15 minutes! Wear good shoes. 1500 leek for umbrella and 2 cheapies which is fair price for a small hidden beach.
Tip: when arrive, go to the left side near the rocks, there are some hidden cave and spots with shadow (If you don’t want to pay for umbrella)
The place is also a camping spot, so very cosy vibes
Cecilie Nguyen — Google review
Because the road is rocky, wear walking shoes instead of sliders. The parking fee was 200 lek for the entire day, which is about 1.60 euro. The beach and sand are both fantastic, so it is well worth a visit. On the beach, there are four bars. It takes about 20 minutes to walk there.
Antonijo Buhovac — Google review
Super nice beach, but it is quite a hustle to get there. I would recommend going early morning, so you can secure a spot at the parking space. Also, when you drive from the main road to the parking place, there is just one lane, while it is two way traffic. We heard that the guys working at the parking place can be quite direct (or even aggressive), but after we paid for the parking place, they were quite friendly. From the parking place, it is a 30 minute walk to the beach itself. It is recommended to wear (decent) shoes and no flip flops.

Anazing beach!! One of my favourotes in Albania! We even went back for a second time at the end of our vacation.
Not a lot of people, great water and you can rent SUPs and Kayak for a fair price! The canyons in the background and the whole nature around is just wonderful.
The walk there from the parking spot (300Lek) is about 25 min and its a little rocky but managable!
Note: the second time we went there, there were more people because the main season for the camping started and they put a lot more umbrellas and chairs on the beach (which are quite expensive). And with more people there was also more trash.

Water crystal clear, quite some restaurants around. There is a nice promenade and nice to walk there in the evening. The price for 2 sunbeds and a parasol is between 1000-1500 LEK. Parking can be a problem and the smell of the trash is really bad and strong. I hope they would clean daily and don't let the trash smell very bad.

Beautiful beach with white smooth pebbles, the water is clear. The sea here is very deep and the waves were high and strong. We didn’t need any special shoes to enter the sea.
Umbrella + 2 sofas cost 1000 lek/d.
Unfortunately still a lot of trash everywhere, even though the situation is better than in other cities.
There are a lot of restaurants and hotels along the shore. Only at Luciano it was possible to pay contactless.
If you have a car, you can stay in the city (cheaper), otherwise you’ll need 1-2 hours to get from the city to the beach.
Kateryna S — Google review
Beautiful landscape, but for beaching is wrong choice. Not good for families. Cool and expensive. Boastful guys working in bars... People who work in catering much more modest and friendly in Vlora and Durres. On the beach is not sand, there are only stones, you can't walk on them, you can't go into the water without shoes. Water is very cold in end of June, about 18-20 Celsius. In Vlora a sunbed for a day is 300 lek, here 700-1000 lek. (There I got bill, here not, I felt it's scam because I speak other language. Take care when pay here, ask bill.)
I have been many place of the world, it's a strongly overrated place. :)
Very good beach for young people, there is parking right to the beach but u can park on the road also,2beds with umbrella 500lek.

Unfortunately I have to give 2 stars, the sea is very good, the vibe is nice and the umbrella is in line with the other places. Nevertheless, as many other beaches, the whole place is missing the basics. When trying to order a beer they only have german ones, I am in Albania and I want to experience the local taste. I had to go to the place next to it. We tried to get some food, and they did not have any pasta or pizza, they literally told us to leave. I can’t even comment the toilet situation which is unspeakable.
The service is ok, the guys are trying the best and are as helpful as they can be. During peak hours you can def see the stress from them and they scream at each other, this can scare away clients and they are totally chaotic.
On a note, I want to give a shout out to the guy with tattoos, I really enjoyed his approach and smile and calmness with clients, good job!

This place was recommended to us by our hotel. Overall It is quite average. They don’t accept credit card - don’t speak English. Service is not really friendly. Asked for a taxi on our way back - no response from staff. Menu is quite basic - pizzas were good size/average taste (450-800 lek).
Dirty toilets. No changing cabins. Overall cleanness of the facility is poor. Loud music throughout the day which doesn’t make sense because general customer base is families with kids. Sea was quite clean, not too deep but rocky. 1000 lek for 2 beds/umbrella (poor quality wooden sunbeds that you can’t position up more than 30 degrees)

This beach is wonderful, but if you prefer less crowded spots like I do, it's best to visit on weekdays. The weekends see a surge in visitors, making parking quite a challenge. I was skeptical due the negative reviews but this beach is super cute and small. Perfect for either a family or group of friends. It is much better to go to this beach rather than all the way to Dhermi.
The beach bar is very nice, beautiful view of the sea, good service and the food is tasty for decent prices.
Umbrella is 1000leki which is a bit overpriced, the chairs were a bit old. Overall this is best beach I have visited in Vlorë region, very similar to Dhermi (I liked Bora Bora better tbh). The beach is with stones, and water is crystal clear. You also have spots where you can jump in the water.

1. The parking is a must here and you have to pay even if you re going in to their private park.
2. They're rude to you if they see that you have a freezer(refrigerator case)for some lotions and water and they will ask you to leave if you don't leave it in to the car.
3. You have to wait alot till someone is coming to pick up your order and at least 1 hour for some food(in total we waited for 2 hours).
4. The water have so many sharp stones and you'll cut your feet trying to get in for a swim.
5. The bathroom was disgusting and we even had a big inspect in to the cabin.
I don't recommend this beach at all.
St. Mary's Monastery, also known as Zvernec Monastery, is a unique religious site located on an island within the Narta Lagoon to the north of Vlore. The monastery is secluded and mythical, making it an impressive destination for visitors. It features a beautiful church with old Byzantine icon paintings on its walls. The surrounding area offers stunning water views and picturesque sunsets, making it a popular spot for bridal photoshoots.
The monastery is small, however the bridge connecting to the monastery is spectacular. It's curvy and sturdy, extremely special. We went at off peak season so there's no one else. We parked at the roadside in front of the deck and there is one vendor selling food and drinks.

Beautifully preserved/restored monastery built during the second half of the 14th century. Lovely stroll out to the site via a wooden foot bridge. Saw several birds and lots of crabs in the water. No admission fee but there was a donation box inside the chapel. Worth a visit if you’re in the area but otherwise I probably wouldn’t go out of my way. We were only there about 20 minutes.

It's a very pretty monastery. It has been well preserved since the renovation. The foot bridge out to it needs about two dozen boards replaced, so be careful. The island cats are very chill. The sign says no pictures, but the security guard doesn't mind if you take some.

Amazing monastery secluded in a faraway island found in a lagoon. It is quite mythical, and most certainly impressive. We actually walked the entire path from Vlore to here, which was a beautiful walk where you can find bunkers buried in people’s gardens and more. The road is in fact quite sunny and full of bugs though so be prepared for that. It was relatively quick and easy to hitchhike back home as well.

Covered in pines, this small gorgeous island off the coast of Vlora can be reached by walking along a 270- meter-long bridge, offering the visitor a one-of-a-kind experience with nature.
Sitting at 30 meters above sea level, this picturesque island is named after the village of the same name, located about 13 km from the city of Vlora. Famous for its stunning forest of tall pines extending along nine hectares of land, the fairly small island also hosts the well-preserved 13th century byzantine Monastery of St. Mary. While Zvërnec is indeed compact in size, at approximately 400 meters in length and 300 meters in width, the island packs a magical experience.

It’s a nice and quiet place but far from what the pictures show.
The water is boggy and smells terrible, quite a lot of trash as well. The bridge it’s pretty run down.
The monastery is nice, very small but clean and well maintained.

Zvernec Monastery is located on Narta Lagoon. I walked from Vlore, but about 20 minutes with a car. You will be able to see marine life in the lagoon: fish, crabs and some flamingos if you're lucky. The monastery is very well maintained, beautiful and peaceful. Make sure you visit the nearby naval bunker, fire control bunker, lighthouse, beaches- all with beautiful views. Most visitors miss these places.

Even if you dont believe in God you have to visit this place. This monastery is located on a small island in 'Laguna E Nartes'. Also if you are lucky you can see flamingos and other rare species.

This historic Monastery and church was a short 30min drive from the city Center.
Beautiful water views , capturing sunsets are stunning. A great back ground for couples getting photos on their wedding day.
Be mindful as bare shoulder are not allowed to enter.
Bathing in these water is frowned upon as they as sacred waters, as I was told.
It’s a popular area with bridal photos too.

We drove out to the St. Mary's Monastery. The water surrounding the bridge was boggy and not as pretty as we have seen in the photos on Google. It could of been the time of the year we visited. Regardless, it is still worth the trip out there. The church was beautiful and calming. People come out here to pray, so be respectful. It is incredible to see such old Byzantine icons paintings on the walls. There are a couple of vendors selling water and snacks before the bridge.

The Laghetto Cave di Bauxite is a stunning, secluded hiking area with vibrant red rock cliffs and emerald green waters. Located on the site of an old cave, it is an important source of bauxite, a rock used in the production of aluminum. The lake itself is exceptionally beautiful, as are the surrounding hiking paths that lead to the sea. Parking spaces are available nearby for a small fee.
Beautiful and unique...Bauxite is a rock and important aluminium ore, the lake is exceptionally beautiful, as is the entire surrounding area, whose path also leads to the sea. Parking spaces are available nearby for a small fee.

In Salento - in southern Italy - a few km southeast of Otranto, you can make a trip to Mars while staying on Earth in a unique natural setting. In fact, the lake is a quarry from which bauxite was extracted, a mineral from which aluminum is obtained
The quarry was used between 1940-1976 when it was decommissioned
It took on this aspect when it ceased to operate. A pond with emerald green water has been formed with water infiltrations of one of the many aquifers
The earth is red fire for the presence of the mineral, the vegetation and the color of the water give a unique experience.
We are a stone’s throw from Capo d'Otranto, where the distance between Italy and Albania is at least 70km. Good weather conditions allow you to see the Albanian coast in front.

Amazing spot- much bigger than it looks in the photos and incredible colours.
The Cattedrale di Santa Maria Annunziata, located in Otranto, Italy, is a unique 11th-century cathedral that boasts elaborate floor mosaics and an underground crypt containing the remains of martyrs. Constructed by the Normans, it incorporates elements of Romanesque, Byzantine and early Christian styles with their own. The cathedral has undergone various renovations over time but still retains its original charm.
Amazing mosaics which are surprisingly well-preserved even though these are still accessible to the public. The ceilings are also a sight to see. Rich in history and detail - made me wish there were more descriptions about the different features of the Cathedràl. Definitely worth the trip to Otranto 👍

Throughout our week Puglia tour we saw dozens of beautiful Churches, but this one counts in top 3.
It's set in the center of old town Otranto dating back to 11c.
A rather simple stone facade hides amazing Tree of Life mosaic spread over the entire Church floor.
Another Church highlight is the beautiful wood carved ceiling, as well the skulls and bones Chapel of the Martyrs.
After paying hefty entry fees in Lecce Churches, I was pleasantly surprised entry here is free

Otranto Cathedral has three interesting points (I would say: hits) - floor mosaics made by fra Pantaleone, crypt with interesting columns and relics of Otranto martyrs. It's free to enter but there is long siesta (12-30 - 15-30)

Here is a place where you can see how ages ago people learned of the Bible. The mosaics told the story of the tree of life and the division of Heaven and Hell.
Having survived the conversion to a Mosque and back most of the frescoes were destroyed... butfor some reason they left the images of Mary... and a few of Christ on the cross.

The Cattedrale di Otranto combines a Byzantine and Romanesque style. It was built by the Normans. Nearly 800 civilians and clerics were killed by the Turks who had besieged the town. Their bones are arranged inside the chapel. There are impressive frescoes and mosaics. In the basement, there is the crypt with plenty of columns with different styles of capitals and materials. A priest who met spoke Grico!

Glorious and a real surprise.
We were passing through Otranto and went to see the Cathedral.
We entered through the Crypt where we were greeted by incredible organ music.
The church itself is amazing. Filled with history and different influences, it boast both a spectacular ceiling and jaw-dropping floor. The floor is a tree of life mosaic, populated by mythical beasts.
Worth a visit 1000 %.

A must-see monument in Otranto, originally dating from the 9th century when Otranto was a hellenic town and part of the East Roman empire ruled over by the Roman emperor in Constantinople/Byzantium/modern Istanbul. The basilica, seat of the bishop of Otranto, is laid out in the Roman basilica style with one center and two lower side naves. The flat wooden ceiling over the center nave is ornately decorated. A marvelous mosaic covers the entire church floor. There is also a crypt below the main church.
Michael Stemmeler — Google review
If you want to experience all the crazy flowers that faith and religion brings with it in their purest form, you should go to the cathedral of Ortranto. You can see the influences from occitania, which today are portrayed as esoteric and superstitious. You can see the blood that was shed in the form of hundreds of thousands of skulls below in the crypt and you can smell the Catholic stench everywhere.
The historic center of Otranto, named Centro Storico, showcases the impressive 11th-century Cattedrale di Santa Maria Annunziata. This cathedral boasts a Chapel of the Martyrs and an exquisite medieval mosaic floor. The military architecture during the 15th century is represented by the Aragonese Castle in this area. Additionally, visitors can find frescoes that showcase Apulian Byzantine art inside the Church of San Pietro.

I'll never travel to Matera without this trip planner again
Baia dei Turchi is a secluded tourist beach located in the town of Otranto, Puglia. The area is known for its pristine white buildings and full amenities, including family-run delis serving up spicy focaccia. While Otranto's main sandy drag may be popular among visitors, those seeking a more peaceful experience can venture a few kilometers north towards Casino dei Turchi.
After a twenty minutes walk on a wild woods path, you arrive to this dreamy bay. There's not much people, the sand is white and silky, the water is crystal aquamarine and in some points light blue and emerald green. The bay is long and allows to take walks on the beach. I have travelled a lot but I can assure you I have never been in a place in which sea water and the sand are so paradisiacal.

Amazing beach!
Be careful though: they will tell you that there is no parking by the beach to force you to pay 5€ and take their shuttle but off season, you can easily come and park for free in the pinewood where the shuttle drops you.
Fannie Decerf — Google review
I went in September 2023 and there is three car parks. There is a FREE one that is the closest to the beach.
The first car park you see has car park attendants demanding you to stop for parking and cost 5 euros. Ignore them and turn left into the road directing you to the beach.
The second car park has a charge for 3 euros. Also ignore as you can continue along the paved road.
The third and last car park is FREE and fits about 50 cars and is untimed. Check out that car park first and if no spots then turn back to the other car parks.
Note the walk if you stop at the first car park is at least 20 minutes until the beach which is crazy. So get to the free and closest car park
The beach has soft sand, and water is nice. Nice for a day lying down to relax

Pros: beautiful beach, fine sand and shallow water (good for children). Cons: expensive parking (5-7€), long walk through the pine forrest (depending on where you park, it can be 200m to 1000m). The closest to the beach parking is not open before 8am so if you’re an early riser, manage accordingly.

Truly stunning, water was amazing, clear, aqua blue, warm and the sand so soft. It did take a little bit of a 15 minute walk to get there though. As we parked at the beginning of a road, then had to walk about 1 km to reach it through road, bush and finally down the small cliff face. All worth it and didn’t get out of the water for an hour it was that good.

Great beach, though overpriced seats if you come for a couple hours, 30 euros for 2 seats. No shower, no real toilet, only portable stuff because it's super remote.
The beach is like a dream. Sand, clean, super safe, starts with a bath and then you can swim pretty far. Waves very mellow with southern wind.

Lovely sandy beach split naturally into small coves by the curved rocks. There’s a car park just 5 mins walk away through the woods for €5 a day. Not much down there in terms of facilities or refreshments so best to come prepared. Water is shallow a fairly long way out - great for swimming

Beautiful beach! We stopped by in July 2023 and it was very hot this day so there were quite a lot of people on the beach. Renting a parasol and two sunbeds was 30 € but essential as the sun was strong. The sand gets super hot so make sure to bring sandals or similar. The sand was great quality and the water was very clear with gentle waves when we visited.

First of all, you need to walk around 1 km to the beach from the parking. But every step is totally worth it. There are some guys who are asking 5 to 7 Euros for parking... We were just parking next to the road just like the locals. We asked some Italians and they said it is okay ... So I guess you can safe that money for the parking. The beach itself is really nice the water is clear. We went in the evening so it was not that crowded. I think with sunshine and on the weekends it might get crowded. I think the sunrise could be very nice there

Fantastic beach near Otranto. Water is Crystal clear, sand is soft and comfortable, and the beach is surrounded by rocks and beautiful trees.

Located between Lecce and Otranto in the Salento peninsula, Torre dell'Orso Beach is a popular destination known for its forest-fringed coastline. Despite being a well-known spot, visitors can still find tranquility among the trees. The southern end of the beach offers a quieter atmosphere compared to the bustling northern end near the resort town.

The review I am making is simply about the beach, I was not in the hotel. I loved the views from the mountain, the crystal clear water, the rocks, the view of the town from there, it's all beautiful. You have to be careful because the cliff is not fenced, I would not recommend going with small children. As for the beach, it is not very big and is excessively full of paid seats. The sand was very clean. We went at sunset and it was very beautiful.

Loved this beach. We were there a week before high season so it was not totally packed yet and there was room on the free part of the beach but we chose to pay for a beach chair and umbrella which cost 12 euro each. It is a sandy beach with crystal clear blue water and not crowded for swiming. I'd imagine in high season this place would be overflowing and parking would be hard. It is paid parking and as we were off season we got one close to walking distance of the beach.
Ther are plenty of places to get food and drinks.
And the town itself of Torre dell'Orso is quaint and I wished we could of stayed here.

The beach itself is amazing and you can go without necessarily staying the private beaches, someone would just need to stay behind if you don’t wish to leave your possessions unattended because the public space is a tad bit far from the beach. The water is clean and warm (July) to swim and play water sports in. Not much food choices except the restaurants on the beach and they have limited options that are not properly made for the price tag. So would recommend to get your snacks and eat in Lecce or other bigger cities.

The beach is great, the sea water is really warm and the waves are really small. It's ideal for families and kids. Parking was easy but paid. It's really near the beach, a few minutes walk. You should arrive soon, after 10 am will be very hard and practically impossible to find a place on the public part. The private “Lidos” are practically all reserved previously by the tourists.
There are hotels and summer houses and small trains discharge a-bunch of tourists at the entrance of the beach.
There is a big parking close to the entrance 4 euros for the day. It’s easy to arrive at the beach,

I've visited dozens of Greek and Roman amphitheaters all over their ex Empires territories throughout Europe and Middle East, however this is the first (and probably only) semi-amphitheater.
The layout is very interesting and unusual as there's only one half visible, which was excavated in 1930's. The other half will probably never be excavated as it's beneath the central square residential area.

The Basilica di Santa Croce is a stunning example of baroque architecture situated on the Italian peninsula. It took nearly two centuries to complete with contributions from esteemed local architects including Francesco Antonio Zimbalo and his son Giuseppe, also known as Zingarello. The exterior is adorned with intricate sculptures of Saints, animals and a magnificent rose window crafted by sculptor Cesare Penna. Inside you'll find more traditional baroque design elements worth exploring once you've finished snapping photos outside.
Approaching Basilica di Santa Croce in Florence, Italy, is an experience that takes your breath away. The Gothic masterpiece stands tall, its facade has a mesmerizing blend of pink, green, and white marble. Stepping inside, I find myself immersed in a vast interior filled with stunning frescoes, chapels, and the final resting places of legends like Michelangelo and Galileo.
The detailed craftsmanship in chapels like Bardi and Peruzzi is captivating, while the simplicity of Cappella dei Pazzi and the beauty of stained glass windows create a spiritual ambiance. Exploring the peaceful cloisters surrounding the basilica, with their greenery and timeless sculptures, offers a serene escape.
Piazza Santa Croce, the square in front of the basilica, becomes a lively gathering place for both locals and tourists, adding vibrancy to the surroundings. Basilica di Santa Croce, for me, is a journey through time, a celebration of Florence's rich history, and an appreciation of human achievement in architecture and art. Truly a remarkable place.

Amazing baroque church with a stunning interior design. The organist, Tonio Calabrese allowed us to stay at the organ loft during mass.

A must see if like baroque churches

There is something mysterious and spooky about this cathedral🫣 the entry comes as part of your €9 ticket 🎫
Pasha — Google review
A must-see, as much for its setting as the church itself. If you want to enter, you need to purchase a ticket that costs 6 Euro to enter the Cathedral, the Old Seminary, the Diocesan Museum, also the Basilica near it.
Willy Dinata — Google review
It’s very amazing the baroque architecture. If you go there sit down and slowly appreciate each detail. The angels, birds and many details sculpted are incredible.
The church is not too big.
They have a package in the entrance can you can buy one entrance for all the churches or just one for this one.
Maria Klann — Google review
The biggest and best of the four churches you can visit with the 11 euro ticket. The level of hand crafts is beyond imagination. The crypt downstairs is worth the visit.

Amazing baroque delight in Lecce!
Located in a nice piazza, with tickets being sold nearby, in the information office. The family ticket is a value of money, and would recommend to get if you are not alone.
*Tip: Look for the secret underground area (Photos posted but shhh)

11€ entrance fee. Sure there are other churches included but it should be free on Easter Sunday. These are places of worshipping too. Merchants of the temple are back and make money.

Over the top Baroque bounty in this lush and fabulous Duomo. The columns have climbing and clinging angels. The altars (there are many) are adorned with saintly sculptures and paintings. My favorite is the railings, complete with multicolored marbles. A true work of art. The downstairs contains some excavation and human remains as in bones and a skull. Oh my.
Diane Albanese — Google review
Impressive church - baroque style with tons of works over the columns.
Great value on the family ticket: € 17,00 to visit the Duomo, Museo Diocesano; San Matteo, Santa Chiara and Santa Croce Church’s.
Take your time and enjoy!!!!
The square of the cathedral is surrounded by palaces built in the baroque style. These buildings house a museum that features religious art and is located within a seminary.
Colonne Romane, also known as the Roman Columns, is a significant historical site in Brindisi, Italy. These ancient columns stand as a testament to the city's Roman heritage and are a must-see for history enthusiasts. Situated in Piazza della Vittoria, these two columns date back to the 2nd century AD and were once used as a landmark for the end of Via Appia.
The end of Via Appia (Roman ) . There were 2 of them. The city of Brindisi, gave the other one to Lecce.
Fanis Floros — Google review
Nice place to visit if you are in the area. Two old roman columns mark the end of Via Appia Antica, one of the major roads of the roman empire, leading from Rome to Brindisi and further to Greece. One of the columns remains intact, while the other has only the base.
Ioannis Louizos — Google review
Interesting to see the second original end of the Via Appia. The original headstone can be seen in the Palazzo Granafei, worthwhile! Unfortunately, only one of two columns is left standing.

Nice place to stop for a rest with a view of the water. It's free.

Great place to view the harbour and see a column from Roman times. There are some archeologico ruins nearby under the community theater and in the neighboring palazzo. All are free to visit.

Two old roman columns mark the end of Via Appia Antica, one of major roads of roman empire, leading from Rome to Brindisi (and further to Greece or the east by sea). One of the colums remains intact, while other has only the base, the rest of the column is in city of Lecce.
Ante Krizmanić — Google review
A bit underwhelming considering its historical importance as the end of the Via Appia. Could use a bit more information… as could the nearby house of Virgil.
Jeremy Simms — Google review
Every time I walk on this marina, I just feel my soul getting refreshed. It's a great way to start the morning or just to relieve some stress.
Leila M-Spain — Google review
One of the most underwhelming attractions in Brindisi. You've probably seen hundreds of such columns all over the ex Roman Empire territories.
Allegedly they marked the end of the Via Appia Antica road from Rome.
They're located in old town, short walk after the Duomo Square with its Cathedral, before the staircase leading down to Lungomare sea side promenade.
One column remained intact, while the other collapsed and was relocated in Lecce. Just a pass by and quick photo attraction
Dejan Braki — Google review
A broken column at the top of steps. Very easy, very quick. Perfect tourist stuff!
Ruth Coppard — Google review
A breathtaking location high up overlooking the port of Brindisi was Rome's choice for the location of this two columns in this beautiful strategic ancient international hub of a port and city responsible for importing and exporting all the goods and luxuries from Africa, Asia, Arabia and the Adriatic nations.
The Appian way runs from here all the way to mighty Rome.
Make sure you do not fail to visit its free entry Archeological Museum as together with Taranto are some of Italy's finest and most informative museums in any decent travellers itinerary.

Really hot day (of course) but this was a sight worth seeing. Very clean and safe area. Towards the end of the holiday season meant no crowds.
Mike Taylor — Google review
Imagine 2000 years ago making the trip from Rome by foot and then go through these columns to finally feel the wind and see the sea.
Ila Farshad — Google review
Went out on a hot day, would recommend bringing a fan. But overall it was beautiful seeing the column, it was even better revisiting it once I read up and learned about the history of the current standing column in Brindisi and the past.
Guna Beach Club is a stylish seaside venue featuring comfortable sun loungers on a spacious lawn and direct entry to a beach that's well-known for kitesurfing. The establishment boasts an expansive green area with a shabby-chic ambiance, offering excellent food options served either directly to your location or in the restaurant. The staff are welcoming and accommodating, providing great access to the sea for various water sports activities.
The beach is natural, the bar and club is relaxed, friendly and in good condition.

I have never hated a beach club more than this one. When we arrived, the hostess was super rude by assuming we didn’t have money to stay here (that’s already a sign for you) because my parents didn’t want to sunbathe. After several minutes of back and forth, we finally sat down and still they treated us like we were trash. The food they offer - like orange octopus - does not deliver what they promised. Then I asked for them to charge my phone, and the same lady refused. And it’s only May, the club is pretty empty. The food isn’t as good as it should be, and the service is HORRIBLE. Do not recommend.
If they served a better ambiance than they do, I would even consider not taking it personally but nothing they served us justified the treatment we got here.

Nice spot, but understaff. Everything takes a long time and staff a little rude

Shabby chic beach club with a vast area on golf like green. Good food which is served to your spot or at the restaurant, staff is friendly and helpful. great access to the sea & some water sport offerings. Book ahead. The trees instead of an umbrella might be small.
Lenard K. — Google review
Nice beach club although having to pay 1 euro for a shower after having paid €54 for 1 umbrella and 2 sun-beds is ridiculous also considering its forbiddien to consume your own food and drinks.
On top of that they charge you €4 for the car park.

Nice location with grass area just above the beach. Excellent restaurant. Personnel is very young and kind overall, but they are not so professional (had to complain 2 times for them testing the sound system for the evening party at 3pm while kids were sleeping...)

I had a lovely day at Guna today(12/6/23). Amazing fritto misto, lovely chill, and the best massage I’ve ever had from Sonia. She is an incredibly good masseuse. If you go to Guna, I strongly recommend. It’s the best beach club around. Well worth the trip.

Really nice beach club
We went in Puglia during the high season and we struggled to find a good beach club in the area so, we were definitely pleased once we found this one.
In front of the place there is a big parking space (not free) and from there you just need to walk few metres in order to be with your feet in the sand.
The atmosphere is relaxed, the music enjoyable and food really good (we tried the octopus and couple of sandwiches).
I read complains about service being slow and prices being a bit high.. I can agree with both but, we definitely need to consider the amazing location and the fact that places like these are rare in Puglia.
If you are looking for a nice place to relax/being spoiled without worrying too much about the budget, then you should pass by the Guna Beach

Torre Guaceto Marine Protected Area is a coastal and marine nature reserve featuring a 16th-century defensive tower and visitor center that houses a museum. Unlike other beaches that lose their charm due to commercialization, Torre Guaceto remains unspoiled even after being awarded Blue-Flag status. It is a protected area that boasts of diverse fauna, including birds and snakes. The beach in the Ostuni area has white sand and beautiful sea with no plastic waste littering its shores.
Our favourite beach in Ostuni area. White sand and beautiful sea, we didnt witness any plastic garbage on the beach.
Dali Imedi — Google review
I wanted to love this location. Whilst the setting is beautiful, there’s very little I can say in favour of it. I hate to imagine how the beaches appear outside of the “marine protection areas”. The amount of garbage was disappointing, disgusting, sad, depressing and left a feeling of such helplessness. At one end of the beach was the well kept “paid section”, looked lovely... the remainder of the beach “public section” you could easily fill a garbage truck at least once over. I would be interested in learning more about what conservation policies exist in Italy for Marine/Parklands.

Interesting natural reserve with lots of animals, like birds and snakes.
Janos Nyerges — Google review
This is a fine example of a conservation area and yet very accessible to the public . A shuttle bus service is provided from the main parking area. There are different zones of protection , no fishing , sailing and water sport areas and swimming is not encouraged in some areas . The areas are clearly designated and the public seem to be cooperating. There is a turtle hospital not open to the public due to stress that this would cause the animals. There are long scenic , tranquil paths to walk but beware of the erosions and danger in some of the cliff tops. The beaches and bays are a haven for wildlife and the public alike this place deserves more publicity but maybe its better left to the public to discover how wonderful it is?
Danny Phillips — Google review
Sorry but calling Torre Guaceto a natural reserve is a joke... The beach is dirty, with microplastics and other waste, and due to the shallow water the dirt remains in the water almost up to the buoys. Beach is overcrowded in August as could be expected, yet it has only two toilets and not even a shower. Booking online or not makes no difference: the parking is huge and accepts anyone who pays the 5€ at the entrance, and then everyone queues up for the shuttle. But the small „train“ doesn’t bring you to the beach, instead it drops you off some 700m away... and even in peak periods there is only one "train". Queues under the scorching sun are very long for both journeys (wait at least 20 minutes). The sea is ok, but neither better nor worse than the other coves along the coast. Don‘t waste your time & money here!
Grunz Pieper — Google review
- It's a wonderful place for a good walk along the seaside, the sea is simply amazing, only downside the rubbish coming from the sea get stuck on the beaches and doesn't get removed because "it's a reserve".
- Posto fantastico per una giornata di mare immersi nella selvaggia macchia mediterranea, è un peccato però che i rifiuti portati dalle mareggiate non vengano rimossi

Centro Storico in Ostuni offers stunning views of the Adriatic Sea and vineyards, with its whitewashed hilltop buildings enclosed by defensive walls. The area is characterized by steep alleyway staircases and cobblestone streets lined with charming shops, cozy trattorias, and casual bars. Visitors can explore the grand Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption and the Museum of Preclassic Civilizations of the Southern Murgia Hills.
This was a lifetime experience. We went through the olive plant and through the history of olive oil making. And tasting also. Worth a visit.

We took a tour with Luigi. Wonderful experience learning about olive oil production from Roman times to today.
The ancient olive trees are amazing to behold. The underground press room was full of historical artifacts. The tasting at the end was fun.
Highly recommend to learn about olive oil and it's role in Italian agriculture over the centuries.

We had a wonderful experience visiting Masseria Brancati for an olive oil tasting tour. They have over 1700 trees, some of which are over 2,000 years old. The tour includes a walk through the olive tree groves, a look underground where they used to press the olives and a tasting. You can also add an option to learn how to make mozzarella, which we couldn’t recommend enough!

We had an olive oil tour. The masseria and surroundings are very nice. There is an old oil mill and the tour is very informative, for 12€ per person, around one hour. The tasting was a bit basic.

We spent 2 nights as B&B guests at the property and also joined a farm tour/oil tasting. For those seeking a rustic/authentic masseria experience at a real, working farm - look no further. The owners Corrado and Antonella are wonderful hosts, and treated us like family. The property is a slice of heaven. The tour itself, which is a major tourist magnet, is very informative and interesting with passionate guides. Very high quality olive oils- a reflection of the love and dedication that has gone into running the farm while respecting traditions since Roman times.

A must see: millennia-old olive trees, a rich and fascinating Masseria history, an interesting and funny guide, all topped off with a delicious tasting. Can only recommend. Book directly through Masseria on the phone it’s much better and more affordable than booking through agents and Airbnb experience.

Touring the olive tree orchards and learning about the oil production process was a highlight of our trip to Puglia.
The tour and tasting is very affordable and you can learn a lot about the history and economy of the region, as well as about the food.
I am unsure if they are still doing the hotel or restaurant as of 2022 July, due to the pandemic.

Beautiful olive farm! You can ask about the guided tour (in Italian or English) one day in advance, via email. A place so full of hisyory and so well preserved.

Do not recommend unfortunately. Did an olive oil tour here. The son gave it and I’m all fine with casual but he treated the tour like he just rolled out of bed and was forced to give this tour, wearing puma pajama shorts and stammering through much of his descriptions. The place is beautiful but probably you can find better tours that take more pride in hosting guests to teach them about olive oil.
Update: Edited now to one star because after I provided feedback the owner got very defensive and lashed out at me saying I’m heartless because his son had covid and I was not sympathetic — meanwhile no one told us he was sick. And instead of cancelling the tour and refunding us, they were greedy and made their sick son give the tour so they could keep our money. So not only illogical arguments by host but also repulsive behavior. I’m actually even more appalled to have come to this place now knowing they exposed us all to illness and then blamed guests for being disappointed in a poor tour. Take ownership for your guests experiences, instead of blaming them for your own incompetence.

We participated in the olive tour of 2 hours at 11:30 am. The guide was excellent with very good English. Her enthusiasm and explanations were of superb quality. The threes are impressive and tell century old stories. After the walk amongst the olive threes, the guide showed us the Roman and medieval olive press. Next we enjoyed the olive tasting. The entire tour is a delight, the Masseria is absolutely stunning and the hosts very welcoming. Highly recommended!
The Purple Beach Lido is a stunning beach club situated on a secluded cove that offers guests the perfect place to relax and unwind. The venue boasts well-manicured lawns with comfortable sun loungers, and an impressive cocktail menu that will satisfy any thirsty patron. Additionally, outdoor concerts are regularly hosted at the Lido, providing an enjoyable atmosphere for all visitors. Furthermore, the bar is beautifully decorated and has great potential as a party destination for those seeking fun in the sun.
Nice beach bar, well decorated and seem to have a great potential for beach parties

After phoning they say that it is possible to book only through the website or in person. Being that we are not really close, I opted for online booking, but once I enter the site, the notification arrives that the connection to their portal is not secure, rightly advising against entering sensitive data such as credit cards etc. ... sin update!

(Translated by Google) Nice beach but with terrible management. At the entrance no one warned us that the beach would be closed at 7pm and around 6.45pm a bald, plump gentleman arrived shouting that we had to leave because the lifeguards had to go to work the next day. We ate there, we weren't expecting anything and in fact I don't recommend eating there. But the funniest thing was when we asked for 4 crowns of salt and lemon, they delivered the beers with the salt sachets separately, something never seen even in the third world. The bottom line is, I don't recommend you pull up to this establishment at all.
