Need to decide between seeing Sachsenhausen and Ravensbrück best go here. The female inmates witness stories and the building infrastructure left standing give a much deeper impression of all the horrors and inhumanities of concentration camp life in the period.
CCTV Cayak Crime TV — Google review
78 years go, after several months imprisoned in Ravensbrück, my grand-mother was delivered by the Red Army in April 1945. As a member of the French Resistance, she was denounced and deported to this concentration camp.
In January 1939, Himmler let build up the Ravensbrück concentration camp in Brandenburg, North of Berlin, the only camp for women. The first inmates - German and Austrian women - arrived in May 1939. Some 130,000 prisoners, mostly women but also men and children, were imprisoned in Ravensbrück.
In six years, Ravensbrück was transformed into a vast concentration camp complex, surrounded by satellites (kommandos) serving the German industry.
The inmates were forced to work more than twelve hours a day, punctuated by dawn and evening calls, to develop and maintain the site; they served as slave labor in the sewing workshops and electrical assembly industries such as Siemens and Halske, as well as in the arms industries such as Heinkel, BMW, Mercedes and Skoda.
Some were subjected to the medical experiments of Dr. Karl Gebhardt. Polish girls, nicknamed "rabbits" and political prisoners NN, Nacht und Nebel. They were subjected to sterilization experiments, muscle and bone transplants...
After such a "nerve-wracking experience", my grand-mother passed her grand-children the following message:
"There is no foreigner on this planet 🌍.
☮️ Peace can not be kept by force. Everyone shall contribute to achieve it by understanding"
What a heritage from such a woman 👩 who survived this part of History.

Tours of an enormous ship hoist dating from 1934 & featuring a 36-meter lift for water traffic.
Interested in photography or fun facts? This place is worthy of your next weekend trip. Enjoy the panoramic view on top of the structure!

I never knew that there was something like that in Brandenburg. If you go there in a warm season, make sure to take a boat tour. We were lucky to get the last boat tour this year: it is an unforgettable and unique experience to sit on a boat being lifted to a higher river level! During the boat tour you get guide explanations, so you will still learn a lot even if you prefer the boat to the classical excursion 😉
Irina — Google review
A lift for cargo ships working the waterways between the Oder and The Havel rivers. One that can lift 6000 tonne of ship and water 36 metres to navigate the differance in water level between the two rivers. Quicker than locks could ever do.
Stephen Pitkin — Google review
This could be 5 star +
We paid 5€ to walk around the old boat lift. Unfortunately all the information boards were in German or Polish. It was amazing to see the huge structure and to see how it worked lifting the boats, both were still in use. However, I found the whole experience a bit of a money spinner, you have to pay to park, pay to activate the App, pay to use the toilet and the only way to see the new boat lift is with a tour guide, but that's only in German! With all this money they are generating they could put some English information out.
There is a small information centre which is free to enter and they had information boards on how it was erected and fortunately it was in English too 👍. The staff member we spoke to was very helpful and fortunately spoke some English which was a great help.

Really interesting place to visit and do not miss the boat ride. It was fun experience to go up the elevator and down as well.

Something different - if in area definitely worth a visit
We did a 3-day road trip around the Brandenburg region and this definitely was a highlight. During our exploring, we saw many beautiful castles, townships and lakes to this was something different.
We were travelling with a Labrador. You can take a dog up. Dog-friendly. At the ticket kiosk, they gave us a pass that gave us entry via the door, rather than the rotating gate.
Parking - there is one main car park - when leaving make sure you get a token (costs 3 euros for a car) from the parking machine next to the toilets, right by the drive-in/ out. Ha ! I thought you had to put 3 euros into the exit barrier machine. ...but no, it just takes the tokens.
Dominik Strobel — Google review
A very impressive building. Giant scale. I advise everyone to visit.

Eldena Abbey

Historic ruins of an iconic medieval monastery, circa 1199, in a serene park atmosphere.
One of the famous places Caspar David Friedrich was painting. Certainly a must see for all lovers of romantic historic sites. But the city of Greifswald could and should do way more to improve the surroundings of this superb site, like taking care of the park, offering a visitor centre, cutting trees and bushes to allow better views of the ruins...
Oliver Falk-Becker — Google review
Worth a visit. Park setting makes for a nice walk among the ruins.

Some pretty interesting history involved in these ruins. If you can get a local to tell you the story, or visit the Landesmuseum in Greifswald to get a bit more background information on this.
The landesmuseum also has a model of what this "kloster" looked like before it become ruins.

Eldena Abbey (German: Kloster Eldena), originally Hilda Abbey (German: Kloster Hilda) is a former Cistercian monastery near the present town of Greifswald in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany. Only ruins survive, which are well known as a frequent subject of Caspar David Friedrich's paintings, including the famous Abtei im Eichwald ("Abbey in the Oak Forest").
In the 12th century the Baltic coast south of the island of Rügen belonged to the Rani principality of Rügen, which in its turn was subject to the Danes. The Danish Cistercian monastery, Esrum Abbey, was thus able to found a daughter house in the area, Dargun Abbey, at Dargun, west of Demmin, in 1172. When in 1198 this monastery was destroyed in fighting between Denmark and Brandenburg, Jaromar I, Prince of the Rani, whose wife was of the Danish royal house, offered to re-settle the monks at a new site at the mouth of the River Ryck, close to the boundary between the territory of the Princes of Rügen, and the County of Gützkow, since the early 1120s subordinate to the Duchy of Pomerania.
The offer of the site, which included profitable salt pans, was accepted, and in 1199 Hilda Abbey, now Eldena Abbey, was founded, and confirmed by Pope Innocent III in 1204.
The monastery became wealthy from the salt trade and was very influential in the Christianisation of Western Pomerania.
It also brought about the foundation at the beginning of the 13th century of the town of Greifswald, which started out as the monastery's trading settlement opposite the salt pans, near the point where the via regia, an important trade route, crossed the river.
The east end of the abbey church was built in about 1200, while the conventual buildings date from the mid-13th and 14th centuries, all in Brick Gothic. The final stages of construction were the west front and the nave of the church, which were completed in the 15th century.
The Maritim Museum Peenemünde U-461 offers a unique opportunity to explore a large Soviet submarine from the 1960s, complete with torpedo rooms and the captain's cabin. The submarine is equipped with rocket launcher platforms and is impressively packed with tubes and valves despite being the largest museum submarine. Visitors can learn about life on board through informative explanations and simulated sounds.
Russia uboat is sp crapy that german older u boat in Bremenhaven is mich better. Its good to compare trashy soviet technic and how they treated sailors, humans.

Interesting to walk through, unfortunately little information during the route. And the whole thing felt rather dingy. Okay, the boat is old and rusty, but that doesn't mean it has to be so dusty everywhere.
The dressed dolls are funny, especially the one in the toilet.
You have to pay extra to take photos.
Mariska — Google review
Very unique and interesting place. Trip is rather short as we are on just one level but still worth seeing this unique submarine.
Artur — Google review
The harbour's main attraction is the submarine museum. The entrance fee is €8 per adult. I can't rate the museum as it is 2020, and during this COVID 19 pandemic, I don't feel safe to go into a relatively small submarine with a crowd.
The ferry boats also leave from here for different tours. Make sure you check the schedule as it's limited in June.
Aggie Vierling — Google review
The submarine was okay. You need to be fit to climb up and down all of the stairs and ladders and get through the port hole doors.
My daughter wasn't too keen on the cramped space and the dummies that have been placed around the boat.. which you might consider if you have claustrophobia or have a phobia about dolls 😅
There wasn't much guidance given.. we bought the entrance ticket at the booth and climbed up and down and through the submarine ourselves.
I guess it is a unique experience and it was something to do as just about everything else in Peenemünde was closed when we visited in February.
The submarine was also only opened for limited hours in winter and the souvenir shop was closed... which was a shame.

Very impressive Submarine with rocket launcher platforms.
Again and again incredible how to work and life on such a ship. Although it is the biggest museum submarine it is fully packed with tubes, valves and so on. There are lots of explanation and even sounds to simulate the real life on board. Don't miss it if you around
Timo John — Google review
A must-see for anyone interested in Cold War military items. The ship is very well preserved inside. Atmospheric lighting and background sound from the speakers. There could be more technical information, the complete absence of descriptions in a language other than German.

It has been a long time since I visited the museum and I am glad that I saw it with my 198 cm height. I had to throw what I had with me through the gates first and then crawl through them. It's quite an experience with some kind of sports program. Now see how the crew worked. My work was in the coal mine, which also involved crawling at a height of sometimes 40cm. The museum is ok.

The Historical Technical Museum in Peenemünde is housed in a former power station and commemorates the laborers who built test rockets during World War II. The museum showcases the conflicting development and consequences of the notorious V2 rocket, which was constructed by engineers in Peenemünde on Usedom. It offers well-documented exhibits and features 23 multilingual notice boards with further information, as well as an app for orientation and additional details.
Absolutely amazing place full of history and secrets from 2nd world war. Get audio guide and browser this amazing place. I loved it. Especially the chance to see V2 rocket.

+ Indoor and outdoor historical, structural and art exhibits to explore.
+ Souvenir shop.

A most important historical site, where the Nazis under the direction of Werner Von Braun and other eminent scientists developed the
V2 rocket propelled missile. Also the launching pad for the infamous V1 'Doodlebug" flying bomb which rained death upon London late in WW2.
Thankfully it was too late to save the badly crumbling Third Reich.
Its an amazing historical site now with launch pad and Rocket examples on display. The museum is interesting with its tales of how massive slave labour was used to achieve the manufacture of these terror weapons.

The emptiest museum I have ever seen. They have big building filled with pictures and pictures and nothing more. Descriptions related to them are only in german. Oh they have much of grass too. Ticket is 10 euro but it is really worth the most 10 eurocent
Dariusz Re?ek — Google review
A good place to visit if you have an interest in WW2. It’s a pretty big site and it’s not just about the V2 rocket development, in fact the V2 is a small part of the exhibition. The bulk of the site is the power plant that was used up until the collapse of the DDR.
Martin Stone — Google review
During the Second World War, engineers in Peenemünde on Usedom constructed the notorious V2 rocket. This Museum shows the conflicting development and shows the consequences. Everything is well documented. At each of the 23rd stations there is a multilingual notice board with further information. In addition, an app offers orientation and more information. Great recommendation not only for history buffs.
Tilman Benecke — Google review
Interesting place due to the history on rocketry. The powerplant is a must for industrial photographers to enjoy the old technology.

If you are interested in learning more about local history, especially regarding the second world war, this museum is a must. The "Rundgang" takes you about 2-3 hours. My favourite was the exhibition connecting old history with the current landscape via photography and various artefacts. Plus a massive bonus point - they not only provide descriptions in German and polish but also in English.
Julia Freyer — Google review
It's fair to say that the site is still in tact. The site to visit is 'Die Ausstellung' or exposition. It's pretty detailed if you want to grasp it all, I'd say take 4 hours certainly into account to cover the entire site. Everything is well displayed so the audio is complementary but not really necessary. The elevator (€1 surcharge) for the overview from the top you'll probably pay cuz while there why not but is not really worthwhile. The pictures you take downstairs will measure your expectations.
Geert Lambrechts — Google review
Very interesting, especially the power station. It is amazing what the engineers managed to build, even though their aims were nefarious. It is possible to visit this in a little over an hour, if there are no queues.

Peenemünde has a big outside area as well as multiple floors inside. You can also buy a ticket to go to the roof where you get a 360 view off the place. I can recommend.
Tim Genford Jensen (Genford) — Google review
One can never quite fathom the scope and consequences of WW2 let alone the resources put into the war and HTM certainly try it's best to assist. Amazing. The artsy and quasi-philosophical approach doesn't quite do it for this visitor, and still a lot of the exhibition gimmicks are quite powerful. E.g. at the locker room at the end of the main exhibition, where the names of key characters are put and when you open c.v.'s and pictures are merited. That the power plant was actually in use til 1990, was a surprise.
Five stars shouldn't compare to Kennedy Space Center and in its right is fully warranted.

The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebaek, Denmark showcases an impressive collection of international contemporary and modern art dating back to 1945. The museum also features temporary exhibitions and is suitable for all ages. Visitors can bring their own food and drinks or dine at the cafeteria/restaurant. The facility is easily accessible with baby strollers and boasts creative spaces for children to play and create.
I love this place & have a membership! I have been there almost half a dozen times. Love the exhibitions, the painting & drawing area for kids (I have done it too), sitting in the garden outside or in the restaurant overlooking the sea, getting the sun, enjoying sumptuous meal with your loved ones! It’s a whole experience. Must visit if you are coming to Copenhagen. I live here but I love it so much I have a membership 🙂
Deepti Mehrotra — Google review
I won't necessarily define it a "must-see", but if you've spent enough time in Copenhagen and you're running out of ideas for where to spend one afternoon, you should consider coming here. But only if weather is decent enough! You don't want to miss out on the sculpture garden, which also accounts for enriching your experience at the museum. It is simply way better if you can walk outdoors and enjoy admiring the sculptures and the surroundings when brightened by the sunlight. Speaking of the exhibitions, it's all about modern art, and a few creations really got my attention. I visited during the Peter Cook exhibit, which was really a "Wow!". Of course, even if you're not an art expert, you need to show up with the mindset to embody yourself in the artist and really try to understand the background behind certain masterpieces, otherwise your reaction to most of the exhibits is going to be like "What the heck is this?". You can easily spend 2-3 hours here if you're an average person like me (not really into art, but curious enough to learn something new), otherwise if art is your thing, consider taking the whole afternoon. Easily accessible by car, there's plenty of parking outside. Overall, an enjoyable experience for a fair price.

Nestled into a beautiful seaside beach with impressive landscape where architecture meets Nature.
Louisiana museum has the World class collection of Modern & Contemporary art, which draws visitors from all over the World. It is a fine museum worth visiting. Especially during Summer days.
The most memorable feature of this museum is the connection -between Inside and Outside- is carefully choreographed to maximize the sense of place and reduce the museum fatigue often occurs in a claustrophobic space in large museums.
The collection and exhibition -A. Giacometti, Modern paintings and well curated Temporary exhibitions are superb examples that make this institution impressive. Access from Copenhagen via simple train ride is clear and convenient. Two thumbs up!

My favorite museum!!! Went there several times during my stay in Copenhagen. After my first visit I loved it so much that I cancelled all my sightseeing in the following days and went to Louisiana. So many good things about this place. First and the most obvious one is the design of the whole place is stunning, including the architecture and interior design and that nice park behind the building. Everywhere is so pretty! You can also enjoy a nice sunset by the sea after your visit. Second is the exhibitions. I met my favorite exhibition by far, epic waste of love and understanding by Ragnar Kjartansson, every work of him is worth appreciated, I actually stayed in the room of “a lot of sorrow” for more than six hours to watch this six-hour-long video non-stop. I really grow on modern art here. Also, the opening hour there is very friendly, they are open until 10pm on weekdays. Love this place so much, really looking forward to going back!!!

The museum and its setting, sans the art, is an experience in itself - a beautiful small complex of interconnected buildings set upon a hill facing the sea (ok it’s probably a strait but it’s sea if you don’t look at the map). Make sure you descend down to the sea and touch it and smell it and sit upon the little pier. Perhaps even swim in it as we saw some brave locals do! Brave because the water was already cold at the end of September. But seriously bring a bathing suit in the summer!
I don’t love Giacometti, which the museum has a lot of, but did find other sculpture to love and admire there. This is largely a sculpture museum.
It is outside of (or on the edge of?) the city but very easy to get to and very worth it! In my opinion, this the most unique of Copenhagen’s museums.
My first time here I also had a great sandwich from the more casual cafe, but it appeared to be closed when I came at the end of September this time. There is a more formal sit down cafe that overlooks the sea also.
Katerina Mo — Google review
Louisiana is one of the best museums in Europe if not the world.
The whole experience you get from the moment you enter, to exhibitions and even the cafe are more than satisfying. You will see everything here from modern contemporary to classics to sculptures the museum has it all.
In order to get here from Copenhagen you must do it either by car or train. Train was very easy to get and takes around 45 minutes from Copenhagen to Luisiana.
Make sure to arrive early in the morning to avoid the queues, this place gets packed during the weekends. Allow anyway around 3-5 hrs to have a relaxed but full experience

Even though I'm not particularly interested in art museums, I was captivated by the beauty of this one. It's about an hour's train ride from downtown Copenhagen, but I think it's well worth the visit. The excellent layout, atmosphere, and the way artworks are integrated with the natural surroundings are very impressive. I highly recommend visiting it.

The selection of artists and works is great and everything is so beautifully displayed in this amazing building where you can navigate between inside expositions and outside to either watch a piece of art, have a coffee or a snack or bask in the sun. I may dare to say, one of the most beautiful museums I’ve visited.

Lovely seaside gallery about 40 minutes outside the city; one of the most enjoyable day trips I've had in a while. If you're in Copenhagen, you want to make time in your schedule for a visit.
Super interesting and diverse exhibits, plus the outdoor sculpture garden is quite mesmerizing.

The most beautiful museum I’ve ever visited!
This museum blew my mind. All the exhibitions were incredible, well thought, beautiful and touching. I especially enjoyed Ragnar Kjartansson’s exhibition, it was absolutely brilliant. The museum itself has beautiful gardens, it’s in a forest on the beach so it has amazing views.
Definitely don’t miss it!! Worth the 30 minutes train ride and the entering fee.

This place has a very special energy. It's not just the world class modern art exhibitions but also how everything comes together in a beautiful and tranquil setting. I suggest to set aside 3-4 hours to experience it. It's 30 minute train ride from Copenhagen.

An absolutely stunning experience! Though it’s a bit of a journey, about 50 minutes from Copenhagen, visiting the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art is immensely worth it. Each moment spent here is filled with awe and appreciation for the modern art collections and the unique ambiance of the museum. The trip itself was super cheap price for the rich cultural and artistic experience that awaits. Highly recommended for art lovers and explorers alike!

No words needed really. World renowned art museum. Go early in the morning via train, buy your tickets in line, explore for a few hours, stay for lunch at the cafe - it’s worth it. We were blessed enough to have a cool sunny day, don’t miss the sculpture outside.

The majority of photos were from the warm days so I wasn't sure what to expect during my visit in February. But it was perfect. Actually, that's the best thing I've experienced while visiting Copenhagen.
Beautiful park, cool architecture, nice sculptures. Very easy to get there by train (I purchased train tickets online via the Dot phone app, highly recommend).

Wonderful experience, in beautiful grounds.
Obviously the art exhibits inside change regularly so the experience will always change.
We spent a whole Sunday here, arriving around lunchtime, finishing the day with a meal in the restaurant, which was delicious.
As a coeliac there were lots of gluten free options in the restaurant.
As an art lover, there was a good mix of the classic early 1900s and modern art through the visual of video and interactive art installations.
As a lover of scenery, you would be hard pushed to enjoy more beautiful grounds at any art gallery.

What a lovely place! Great architecture, wonderful outdoors, good food and of course incredible art. We spent here two hours since we were on a timetable, but we will reserve more time for our next visit. You can easily get there from Copenhagen by train. The walk from the train station is less than 1 km. If you come by car and the museum's parking lot is full, you can leave the car next to the train station and walk.

Beautiful museum with great exhibitions. It’s well connected from Copenhagen if you take the train or the car.
Easy to spend a whole sunny day considering there is a small lake, the great museum cafe, and the beach side.

Lovely grounds and a beautiful space housing modern art works from all different artists. From Copenhagen we had to drive about 30 minutes outside of the city. There is a huge cafe where you can sit down have a drink and bite overlooking the water.
Enjoyed the exhibits.

Didn’t have too much time in Copenhagen but so glad I made the time to visit the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art. Made my way there for the Pussy Riot exhibition - one of the best I have seen. The building and surroundings themselves are reason enough to visit. Located on the coast and with beautiful greener surrounding this wonderful architectural feat I would highly recommend this as a much visit destination for lovers of the arts.

Perfect place to be rainy day or great day. Best place for kids as well. Always inspiring and calming and atmospheric. Go now as there is a kusama installation and also the classic Giacometti. There is also thus cool exhibition with a live artist... always wanted to see one.

This museum is situated at a unique location facing the ocean. Ajoined by basement compartments, the 3 separated houses of the museum are bigger than what u see on the surface. Furthermore, the space for the outdoor sculpture garden was spacious with the ocean as the background. You have to give yourself a good 3 hours to view the exhibitions inside out. Really like the overall setting & currations. Definitely worth the 50min train ride from Copenhagen Central Station + a 15min walk to the Muse if u could spare your time for a visit🤩.

Absolute must-see on a calm weekend day ! The train ride from Copenhagen to the small town is quick and the museum is reached fast. There was no waiting line and a friendly staff welcoming us. The exhibitions were well curated and multifaced. Calm, interesting and interactive to a certain degree. The sculpture garden is worth a visit itself ! Many paths lead you around the buildings and there are many pieces to discover. When the weather is clear you can see sweden just on the other side of the water. The restaurant has a great choice of dishes, the shop is quite big and we were able to find a nice poster in a huge collection they offer. Extra plus point that they give you a protective cardboard roll for the purchase.
It was one of the best museum visits I had so far and would recommend everyone who is even just slightly interested in contemporary art :)

Nice place to visit!
Besides the exhibition, there is a beautiful garden which connects with the sea 💚
Also, another point of attraction is the restaurant, which is very popular and a lot of people go there to have a good time.
If you go there when nature is green or the weather is not so windy, you will have a wonderful experience 😊

Best museum in Denmark so far, they have a huge garden you can enjoy, unfortunately was too cold but still good to be outside and take a look on the sculptures. It’s super well organized place with variety of masterpieces and exhibitions. Truly recommend for a day trip.

Superb! Magnifique.
Must visit museum in København/ Copenhagen city!
Located quite Far from the city center, at Humblebaek area and you should also walk about 800m- 1 km to get to the museum.
I visited just last Wednesday and arrive before 11 am and it’s already very packed with people, crowded queue and wow most of them are elders. Very impressive.
The contemporary artworks collection are insanely rare and authentic. Details and caption explaining very well, the interior and exterior really pops up your mind when pay attention to the details.
Don’t forget to walking around at the backyard park which is amazingly beautiful landscape scenery that you ever seen, with the flowing river underneath where you can enjoy the view while sitting down with your meal and gazing to the art statues etc.
Definitely a gem and will be back!
And also there is kids section for those of you who visit with kiddos don’t worry.

If you are in Copenhagen and thinking is it worth an hour's journey, it totally does. Do it! I go to A LOT of museums and galleries, and this one is wonderful, both content and architecture and design. Great day out. We spent 4 hours and this is only because of one gallery was rehanging. Easily a day trip! Wow!
Moated, 16th-century castle formerly used as a prison, now offering guided tours.
I once lived in this small town of Landskrona. A very beautiful town with an ancient history, beautiful architecture, streets! Landskona Slott impressed me with its colorful appearance, the color of the walls is just class! The patio is interesting especially if you know the history of this castle. I hope someday I will be able to come and walk around the city again. Sweden, like history itself, is like a highlight on the cake! Everything is tasteful.🙂👍

in the year 1590 it was one of the most modern Fords. that's all, and there isn't really anything to see apart from a park with some art, otherwise the castle is not worth driving for

The castle is worth a short walk. We walked arround it, and came to the main yard. It did not managed to keep its original historic buildings, but it was still fun hour spend.

The Citadell was a nice place for a walk around it's moats and to enjoy some nature. The place have a long history of both danish and swedish which was interesting.
The other good things about this is that there is a nice café /restaurant where you can buy coffee, cakes and sodas. Plus it is located close to the city center and nær the beach. Which has a lot of activities for children and cosy areas for grilling or picnic.

A small citadel. Great for a walk. Has a number of small shops with hand craft items and a small museum (and public loos should you need it 😊).

The citadel itself is really nice and well maintained. It has some really cool history that I enjoyed reading about. Around the citadel are some long walking paths that lead to the beach where you can see some old ww2 dragon's teeth. At this time of year I could also see some Canadian geese that hung out with some swans and seagulls.

I went on an adventure to Landskrona's Citadel, it's a nice place on a sunny day to go for a walk for everyone. There are many activities and places to enjoy in the area also.
There is a cafe inside by the castle.
further down the road there is a outdoor training grounds and a skate park by the water tower, you can lay on the sun loungers that is set up facing the ocean where you can enjoy the view of the beautiful view. Furthermore, there are several places where there is a barbecue (grilling) spots with seats.
* for parents or people with kids there are a playgrounds for the little ones down by the beach.
Right next to the Citadel is Kaptensgården's sculpture park which is beautiful to walk through and there are many sculptures to look at and enjoy.
I fully recommend this city and place.

The M/S Maritime Museum is a distinctive and contemporary underground museum located in a dry dock near Kronborg Slot. The museum showcases Denmark's seafaring history and culture through interactive multimedia galleries, as well as exhibits on sea charts, nautical instruments, wartime objects, and modern shipping containers. Additionally, the exhibitions explore topics such as sailors in popular culture, exploitation in overseas colonies, and global voyages of shipping containers.
Unique, interesting and informative! M/S is a great museum for all ages and tastes. Lots of good maritime information as well as explorations of culture, fashion and fun. The location is truly unique in an old drydock. Good view of this from the Cafe.

This place has lots to offer and there is a lovely section for children. One can learn about a variety of things such as the role women played, tattoos and instruments to facilitate navigation.
Another important aspect of this Museum to appreciate is the architecture. For example, as one ascends the staircase from the cafe, the views are alluring and I tried to capture the unique way in which this place is built in some of my photographs.
Before one gets to the exit, there are some wonderful model ships to see.

I found this museum to be very interesting, especially the first half, where they tell you about the sailors life. I must say, however, that this museum is oriented mostly to people that doesn't sail or that is not that familiar with sailing/maritime life.

Amazing architecture and reuse of the old shipyard! We spent a bit over an hour and a half here.
135kr is the ticket price. We thought it was free as we went in via the Cafe and never saw a ticket counter until leaving through the amazing gift shop.
We saw collections of Danish shop models and in particular a lot of fabulous interactive displays covering globalization, wartime and the best kids area i may have ever seen!
On display currently is the pearl divers from South Korea. Amazing cultural pearl (pun intended 😎)

They have a good collection. If you are really interested in maritime things then you can easily spent 1 day. If not and if you don't have the copenhagen card don't bother buying the tickets. I would recommend spending more time at the Kronborg Castle and then if you still have time take a walk round the castle, have a nice lunch take a stroll round the old city.

I absolutely LOVED this place and the funny thing is that I didn't know what to expect.
I knew Denmark was a country with maritine history but it's so rich and detailed that it makes for a very interesting museum.
Ships and the maritine life are both fascinating. Although I know it's not for everyone, if you have the time while in Helsingør I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by what this place has to offer
Alberto Nicanor Rosario Mendez — Google review
The architecture of this museum is A+++. How they have creatively converted an abandoned shipyard into a masterpiece inspiring. The cafe was one the highlights for me. Exposed concrete & rusted metal walls, high ceilings in a modern glass case. The salad was fresh & delish! 😋
Purva Merchant — Google review
A fun museum with a jumble of exhibits, all loosely focused on the sea. For example, there are lots of exhibits with model ships and explaining shipping, then there's exhibits about sailors in pop culture, and you can give yourself your own (non-permanent) sailor tattoo. There's an indoor play area that slants so that you feel like you're at sea, and they have sea chanty karaoke, including "what do you do with a drunken sailor." Then there's rotating exhibits, like one about Korean women free-divers who harvest food from the ocean floor. It's all iver the place! But it's fun, and it's a cool building built into an old dry dock. It's a good place to visit with kids, but stick together! It's easy to go in circles in there, looking for each other.
Kronborg Slot, a 16th-century castle that served as the model for Elsinore in Shakespeare's Hamlet, is an impressive Renaissance structure declared a UNESCO World Heritage site. Its baroque green-copper spires crown a vast complex surrounded by moats and fortifications with Vaubanesque star bastions. Visitors can explore the inner palace's rooms adorned with tapestries and ceiling paintings, and marvel at the viewpoints it offers.
The castle is very interesting and filled with history.
I really am thankful for the amazing staff there. They are very good with speaking English and are very welcoming to everyone.

A good museum but it felt like it could be great.
The phone-based tour seemed incomplete and didn't flow well; also three of the four "tracks" were only in Danish (perhaps it's very new?).
The live action guides were okay but also could have been more engaging with adults.
The "cafe" was disappointing.

The castle is worth visiting even without paying to go inside (the ticket is kinda pricey, 14€ per person). The place looks wonderful, and while resting on the beach we even sighted a wild seal and a harbour porpoise!
Around the castle there are lots of workshop and art galleries which is nice as it feels like local artists really have a way to express themselves and get the possibility to expose their work.
The little gift shop is also a bit pricey but it has funny little Hamlet-themed quirks.
Too bad they didn't write "to be or not to baby" on the baby onesie 😆

Kronborg Castle is an absolute treasure that deserves every one of its 5 stars. Steeped in history and famously known as the setting for Shakespeare's Hamlet, this castle is a must-visit destination.
Walking through the halls and chambers of Kronborg Castle feels like stepping back in time. The rich tapestry of Danish history comes alive as you explore this magnificent fortress. From the imposing battlements to the intricate details of the interior, every corner tells a story.
The connection to Shakespeare's Hamlet adds an extra layer of intrigue and fascination to the visit. It's as if you've stepped onto the stage of one of the most iconic plays in literary history.
Kronborg Castle's location at the edge of the sea adds to its allure, offering stunning views of the surrounding waters. Whether you're a history buff, a literature enthusiast, or simply looking to immerse yourself in the beauty of Danish architecture, this castle has it all.
Kronborg Castle is a historical and cultural marvel that should be on everyone's bucket list. It's a place where the past comes alive, and every moment feels like a journey through time.

There are plenty of things to do and see at the castle, if you are with private tour then you will get more time to explore. View from the top of tower is magnificent, steps aren’t that tough. This is a castle and stronghold. It is also famous world over as the setting of Shakespeare's Hamlet. The castle is open to visitors including the royal chambers, the ballroom, the chapel and various other sections. The staff provides a quick introduction after which one is free to explore the castle on their own. There was a lot to learn about the Danish history and specially about Kind Frederick II and his queen who was quite astute with managing the finances after the King. The castle is walking distance away from the Helsingör central station which is also where the ferry from Sweden disembarks. There are washrooms available in the castle premises.

Lund Cathedral, an iconic Lutheran church constructed in the 1100s, boasts a unique astronomical clock and weekend organ concerts. The Romanesque cathedral is known for its twin towers and impressive wooden figures that come to life during the striking of In Dulci Jubilo. Finn, a mythological giant who helped with construction, can be found within the crypt along with a comically carved 16th-century well.
A little Swedish wonder. I enjoyed everything in this cathedral: the historical context for its building (the artificial creation of several bishops to gain the autonomy against the archbishop of the Hanseatic league), the sculptures on the stalls, the crypt and its couple of evil giants turned into stones, the permanent clock, etc.

I've heard good things about the Lund Cathedral, unfortunately when I went, there was a service and guest couldn't go in. The exterior was also under renovation, along with the building next to it. I would not recommend to come during April due to all the events, and also not on a Sunday. The exterior though looked OK, hopefully I can come back in the future when everything's completed.

A remarkable beautiful cathedral that is almost 1000 old according to the tour info I have been told. It is well maintained over the years, and the design is absolutely spectacular with its magnificent structures. The natural lighting shades the interior beautifully.

This is a beautiful and ornate cathedral. It is well kept and very true to its origins. The feel of this cathedral is really uplifting and sacred. It has an amazing clock, which is a true treasure. We were lucky enough to be there when it rang, and the mechanical workings were incredible to see and hear. It was by far my favorite church that we stopped at in the southern part of Sweden (admittedly, we didn't go to every single one). The lady at the front desk was extremely helpful as well and answered all of our various questions very kindly.

During our visit to Lund Cathedral, we were treated to a truly remarkable experience. Consecrated in 1145, the cathedral holds significant historical importance and houses numerous renowned artifacts. The medieval clock and 11th-century crypt are just a couple of the fascinating features within. It comes as no surprise that the cathedral attracts over 700,000 visitors annually. With three stars in the Guide Michelin's Green guide, it stands as a prominent example of Roman architecture. The best part was that entrance to the cathedral was free, and nearby parking spaces were readily available. The friendly church staff added to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. Overall, our visit to Lund Cathedral was a treat for the eyes and a captivating journey through history.

Dont miss the expedition up, its fun! overall the place is very clean and cool! great place to take your kids. you also have the option to camp in the park premises

A wonderful experience. Lots to do with your children. Both educational and with interesting playgrounds. Unfortunately the weather was too good. Most of the animals was relaxing in the shadow, where i could not see. them.Furthermore there was a 350 m long swaying suspension bridge with wiew over the wood. The dinosaur park was also good.

Nice place for families with younger children. Facilities are good and the entire park is contact free.
There are camping option that must be booked in advance. Pre booking of tickets is recommended.
There are some eating options available in the park but only a few are open due to pandemic.
You can bring your own food and barbecue options are available as well.
A word of caution - not all animals show up easily, especially for small children, they may not be able to locate them.

Very expensive ticket if you buy less than 2 weeks ahead, in season, on weekend : 30 euros per person, including children. Parking another 4.5 euros, plus a lot of other ways to get money off the visitor. Very crowded on weekends. The area is huge and has many attractions, but if it is crowded, you cannot benefit. Goats welcome you as you enter. Using a toilet the water tank had no pressure, it was smelly. The animals and their habitats are nice, but not comparable to a big city zoo. There is a Dino park as well and many workshop places. Paths at tree level are pleasant to cross and give nice views. More English panels required. Not worth it if you stay under 2 hours probably.

Huge territory. Skånes djurpark is much more than just a zoo. It is a whole experience with many many activities for both children and adults. Administration always comes up with new interesting activities so it is fun to visit the park every year. There is plenty of parking, toilets, places to grab a bite and grill your own food. Worth the money.

Perfect place for outdoor activities. You can easily keep your kids busy. We had a great day and kids were very happy. They have restricted numbers of visitors due to corona virus. I was bit worried as it was fully booked and thought it would be crowded. But it was well managed, peoples were widely spread. The staff were friendly and helpful. Thanks to park authorities for nice management. Love the place and definitely visit again.

Totally recommend. It's a zoo but it's also a giant nature reserve. The animals seem to have really good conditions and live in their natural habitat. It's an opportunity to experience spices like wolverine, bison, bear and moose. One can bring their own picnic basket or grill ,or better yet taste the food at the local restaurant, not bad at all. Make sure you download the weiq app in advance , makes ordering easier.

We stayed overnight at their wild lodge hillside accommodation with our 5yo son. A wonderful way to enjoy the park and all the animals. A perfect family adventure! Excellent service. Very kind and helpful staff. Lovely setting. Kids and family friendly. Definitely worth the visit ! The animals are very well cared for and the facilities seemed very well maintained. Big thank you to staff for making this a memorable family experience!

It was our second visit, the last time was 2021. I would love to give 5 stars, however because of the loud music from the dinosaur part, I had to take one star away.
All the other things in the park are awesome! We enjoyed every little bit, we saw almost every animal and we will be back as well! A definite recommendation to familys and couples or singles.
In 2021 we enjoyed the silence in the park and only hearing the animals around you. Especially during mating time. Now it was also paired with the sounds from the dinosaurs and it was distracting. Actually, really annoying.
We are childless, but I can imagine that it is a great experience for the kids, the dinosaurs. I just wish it would be more in the background (soundwise).

Very nice zoo with Nordic animals. Overnight stay is really recommended for the evening walk and feeding when the park is closed and silent (with animals being more visible and active). Don't expect much of for the food 🌭🍔, even though the free sodas and ice-cream makes up for some of it. Overall very positively surprised about the overall experience. Have tried similar in other zoos, and even though the animals might not be as exotic, it's still one of the best zoo experiences I've had.

We stayed overnight and loved our time! Great access to the park after hours with the package! The Glamping accommodations were very comfortable, the staff helpful, food nice and even unlimited ice cream! My wife & I would definitely recommend a getaway here!

Nice place to spend a day with kids and family. But ticket prices are quite high. Got to see few domestic and wild animals, along with Dinosaur land which was really exciting. We bought tickets online in advance, i think offline purchasing is bit expensive. One easily takes 3 to 4 hours to cover the whole park. There is a small beach also in the park which can be easily located with the map they provide you. Overall an average experience.
Shweta Chitkara Verma — Google review
It's more like a park than a zoo. Not so many special animals.
The ticket price varied from 200-320sek.
Easy to go around with stroller.
Map is confusing unless using it in the app.
Resturant choices were limited
Self-driven & mini-train trips through a forest wildlife park home to native moose & American bison.
Our holiday home in Småland is not far from Markaryd, but we only managed to visit the park last summer.
Our conclusion: Absolutely recommendable!
Very nice and well-kept area and absolutely suitable for adults and children. There is also a nice café, restaurant and souvenir shop.

Well guided safari, several moose that come to the car to be petted. Great experience for kids and adults alike. I would recommend to go with their train instead of the personal car, so the kids can touch the animals and pet them.
There are male, female and young moose as well as 🦬. It was a very adventurous morning for the whole family.
It was pretty crowded...
Nice shop, restaurant and Cafe.
There's a nice playground and picnic area with a grill.

The company is professionally designed. Everything is well organised. The staff is very friendly and there is enough space in the car park and the restaurant. We were there in the pre-season and found that the elk area was already too busy. The course is probably one big traffic jam. Everything is actually well done. But it lacks a bit of soul and seems to have lost the focus on the moose.
G?nter Richter — Google review
The safari was a great visit for all. We were travelling across the country with our kids hockey team and they gave a special tour for us as they were meant to be closed on that day.
All of the kids LOVED the train ride and feeding both the moose and bison. And it seems some of the bison were also quite excited we were there too! 😆
The tour guide was very knowledgeable and explained everything so the kids could understand.
Very much appreciated and very recommended if you are in the area.

Great place for a trip. You can visit by your car or take a ride with a train. It needed some time to make the Moose get up and come up closer but it was totally worth it!

Very nice moose and bison park. A large enclosure for the animals. I would recommend taking the guided tour in the train. The guide was very good and enthousiastic, I believe his name was Jan. In the train they also give you carrots and branches to feed the animals, petting the moose is also possible. Afterwards it is possible the eat a nice moose hot dog. Definitely worth while visiting!

I don't know if we where lucky but we arrived on a saturday around 16:00 and the place was almost empty.
We drove with our car through the park, you drive on a small zig-zag road through the wood and it did not take long untill we saw the first Moose 🫎.
Very relaxing and pleasant way to see some very unique animals.

Great little safari. We stopped on the way between Malmo and Jonkoping and had a great time. There’s also a small goat petting area with super sweet Pygmy goats.
We did the safari with our own car but I would recommend you take the little train, it’s a few crowns more but you get handed some leaves to feed the animals which come up to the train, and you can even pet them (none of this is possible from your own car).
Natalia Gonzalez — Google review
Very enjoyable! I was able to pet and even feed several moose and bison and learn more about their behavior.
Joey Mead — Google review
In case you don't get a chance to spot moose in the wild, this is the place to go to see some. The tour through the park can be either by train or in your own car, which allows you to make as many laps as you prefer. It's really great for visitors that almost every place in the park can be reached and seen, but for the animals it's probably not, since the overall area is quite small, don't get tricked by the "3 kilometer" tour.
In theory, you can drive through the park at your own pace and stop whereever and as long as you want, but there are only a few places where the road allows cars to pass each other, so you'll be in a hurry almost all the time as long as there are other visitors or the train driving through the park. This is better in the bison valley since the road is much wider there, but the more spectacular experience are definitely the moose.

A nice place for resting when we were on the way from kivik to Stockholm. Here we have restaurants, cafe, souvenir shop, kid play ground and safari. I recommend waffles here
duc mai — Google review
We took 2 rounds with our car in the safari. It was around 1.30 pm. In the first round all moose were just sitting. In the second round two moose were standing up because people in the train were feeding the moose, then the moose sniffed on every car passing by. We really liked the experience!

Same great experience during påsk 2024.
Unique experience to meet Swedish Elk(Moose) and petting them in summer 2020.
Protected area that you can drive by your own car (on your own risk since animals are free and can make scratches on your car) or take tram going around.
I love it since animals where free and choose to come and say hello to you or just lay down and have rest.
Nost so expensive but check the rate on the website.
It has a nice resturant.
Most facilities were accessible with stroller and wheelchair.

One of the best experiences you can have in southern sweden! The park visit is very cheap, just 170 sek per person, and it is definitely worth it! It is possible to have a close contact with wonderful elks and american bisons, in a beautiful forest. If you don't have a car, for 200 sek it is possible to visit the park on a little train, which will give you the possibility to feed the animals too. Plus, visiting it in september, you can also see some elk calfs!

Great informative safari. Recommend going on n the train instead of driving yourself as you get lots of information from the guide, get to feed the moose and pet them, all things you don’t get to do when you drive yourself. Of course they are wild animals so you never know how they behave but the guide knows where to find them. There are also bison and goats.
Karl Lonn — Google review
Our only opportunity to see moose during our trip to Sweden. The park was really crowded. Cars had to queue and wait whenever the train stopped before them. The restaurant was excellent though. We had the most delicious köttbullar accompanied by soft and creamy potato mash, crunchy cucumber salad and savoury lingonberry sauce.

Great place for a fun day out with kids.
You will certainly see the mooses and bisons.
I would recommend to take the train instead of own car. Guides are very engaging and tell a lot of nice stories, facts etc.

You could drive with your own car but I myself recommend you to go with the train from the zoo itself, the guide with you explained each of the inhabitants and if you’re lucky enough you can pet and feed them , don’t forget to try their waffles- fair price - absolutely worth each pennies you’ve spent
The world's first IKEA Museum is located in Almhult, occupying the site of the first IKEA store. The museum showcases a range of hands-on exhibits, vintage catalogues, and furniture that narrate the journey of Ingvar Kampar from vision to manifestation. It is an ideal destination for design enthusiasts, aspiring entrepreneurs and those who love IKEA products. The displays are cool and retro with a product-rich environment that mimics the brand's famous layout.
This was fantastic. We travelled from Australia so definitely had to put this on our ‘to do’ list. It was so interesting seeing the origins of where IKEA came from. Some fun interactive stuff as well as lots of interesting reading. We spent nearly 2 and a half hours in the museum. Highly recommend.

Interesting temporary and permanent exhibitions about IKEAs history, its founder, Design Democracy, Swedish households and early challenges and more.
Different media and designs are being presented. There's a photo setup to take pictures like in an IKEA catalogue and some rooms that come upside down from the ceiling. There's a store with some nice brand souvenirs.
The restaurant is great, very inexpensive with free hot and cold drinks and laid our for kids.

I’m not Swedish but I enjoyed this place. My Swedish friend was more familiar with exhibits. I didn’t. Well, I have been aware of IKEA since late 90s.
Coffe and water included with the ticket (60 SEK).
After the museum we sat down and had a bite. I took herrings and meatballs. Famous meatballs. Heaven in my mouth.
The museum is based in the first ever ikea store opened in 1958. In 2012 they moved the store nearby and opened a museum 4 years later.

Interesting museum to visit, it costs only 60 kr, including free tea/coffee at the restaurant. The building consists of 3 floors full of informative history and interactive activities. Highly recommended to come with family, children can also be part of the games they provided. Food on the restaurant also different from the normal IKEA restaurant. They have herring menu!

Definitely a must-see place in Sweden. The history section about the company and how it was changing might have been prepared better. I miss a section when they could have showed how a product developed over the years, from metal, through plastic to wooden structure. The guide through the decades should have been one after the other but you can move from 50s to 90s directly.

Makes for a nice visit to kill some time, especially for the low price! Exhibitions were mixed static and interactive but plenty to do and see, even for children. We had the most fun with the set up that allowed you to shoot and print your own copy of the IKEA catalogue cover.
Staff very pleasant and accommodating and free unlimited tea, coffee, water and lemonade during our visit.

I really enjoyed the experience of visiting the IKEA Museum, even if some of the installations themselves were a bit corporate. There is a fascinating history to the company and modern Sweden which is legibly interpreted. Canteen is a highlight top of course!

Went here with my husband. Had food in the restaurant and then went to see the exhibits. There weren’t too many people so that was nice. They have some interactive activities you can do which are fun. We learned a lot that we didn’t know about and enjoyed our visit there. If any of our friends comes to visit and we are in the area I think we would take them to see it.
The gift shop was also nice and had good prices of course. We bought somethings there.

I visited IKEA museum for the third time and this year the exhibitions are much more interactive. You see how deep is the IKEA concept including many important aspects like sustainability, responsible sourcing and many more. In this visit, I liked Our Roots exhibition the most. Here you can experience village life like moving a stone, weaving or making a butter.

I visted in augeat and as a diehard ikea fan i must say i was losing my mind. it was so perfect in every way and i might be biased but i mean the food was great, the atmosphere was great, the employes were very friendly, the gift shop was amazing, to add on to an already amazing place there were several other ikea buildings about five ish minutes walk from it, honestly there was nothing i could find flaw in and even thought ive seen some bad reveiws for the place ( that i disagree with) i must say that i highly recommend you add ikea museum to your sweden itinerary.

High Chaparral - The place where gun safety goes to die. All in all, a great experience, but with some notable downsides.
The theme park itself is one-of-a-kind in Sweden and Scandinavia. Its theme is centered around the classical idea of the Wild West, with "Indians vs. Cowboys", Pioneers and Settlers, Trappers, Zorro, Mexico and the Civil War all intermingled.
The parking is widespread, but it really needs some kind of pedestrian walkway or sidewalk. Right now, you'll end up walking down the main road with your family while hundreds of distracted drivers are cruising by, desperately looking for a parking spot.
By the entrance you will face a long and winding queue. The good thing is that this queue is rather fast moving. But this will not be your last queue. Inside the park, you will face queue after queue for most things. Entering the gun store, ordering hamburgers at a restaurant, boarding the paddle-steamer, buying a ticket for the train, etc. We waited for over 40 minutes before having our burgers, and were lucky to get a seat as seating is extremely limited.
The major disappointments were:
(1) the unclean bathrooms;
(2) the non-existent enforcement or encouragement of pandemic precautions; and
(3) the general lack of [drinking] water taps and hand sanitizers.
As for hand sanitizers, there were hand sanitizers in a few locations, but these had been deliberately camouflaged to fit in with the style of the theme park, so they were pretty much invisible to the naked eye. As for drinking water, we found the occasional water tap for dogs, and hidden away behind a fence, a sole lonely water tap presumably for human use.
Age-wise, I would say the park is best suited for kids aged 7-13. It enhances the experience if the kids are already familiar with Zorro, Lucky Luke and the classical tropes of settlers, pioneers, trappers, "indians" and "cowboys". Bring your own food, drink and hand sanitizer would be my advice for parents, and you will have a great time as long as you have fortunate weather.

Located on the west side of Jonkoping, The Match Museum, also known as Tandsticksmuseet in Swedish, is a 19th-century factory that offers an intriguing journey through the history of match-making. This museum provides insights into Sweden's workers' rights and the significance of match production to Jonkoping's economy. Visitors can explore the old refurbished factory to learn about the machinery and individuals involved in this industry.
Very neat experience! Self guided tour and a quick 16 minute video of the origins of fire. All signs and information also available in English.

Very interesting museum to visit if you find yourself in the town. The people who work there are very helpful and provide you with an English booklet with all translations if you need it.
The history behind this place is very cool as the building it self was the actual match stick factory from way back in the day and the same old machines are still standing for display.

This is the unique museum, I suppose the only in the world.
It shows us the history of match manufacturing and real equipment for it.
There are several rooms with exhibits, little shop with souvenirs.
Also, I’ve taken free magazine and brochures to find out more about Swedish match factories and the region.
We visited in winter, so the entrance was for free. Thank you for this opportunity!
Very unusual but interesting.

If you like history or are into stuff like this then its for you. It's a lot a facts and reading boards about making the matchsticks and how life was under that time, there is machines that were used during that time. A small 8 min film that kids might enjoy, I did not. Were out in around 30 min. Cost 80kr per person and kids to 19 years are free. I personally think that the price is very overpriced for the experience. There is no guide in any sort, the reception didn't know much either when we asked simple questions like when did they start the museum.

Fascinating to deep dive into the world of matchsticks. You can learn about some stories of people and also see the machines used in the production. The lack of English text on exhibits and the need yo carry a file with English translations which you need to need to match is not convenient.

Paid 80kr for adult. I heard it's free in the winter.
For new comer like me, it's pretty hard to find the place because there was a construction beside the building that pretty much made the building in hidden. I was using google map and confused.
I came in the morning so it's a bit quite. Only 2 visitors including me, which is good coz i was taking a video.
This match actually pretty popular in my home country, so that I wanted to see the plant that now became a museum.

I was told about this spot from a local Swedish worker.
It is a small castle with an amazing overlook of the lake. The castle is run down but was built in the mid 17th century.
The views are breath taking and definitely a can’t miss spot for a fifteen or twenty minute break.
You will have to park at the rest stop across the highway from the castle, but there is a walking tunnel that is a short two minute walk and there is always plenty of parking.
If you are headed this way don’t miss this great view from a 1000 foot cliff with a great feel of Swedish history!

WoW 😯 such a beautiful place, i was really surprised 😲 when i visited this place Brahehus not far from Gränna, and not far from Jönköping with a private car 🚘 The ruins of Brahehus Castle are located 3 km (2 mi) outside of Gränna in Jönköping County in the province of Småland, Sweden. The ruins sit 270 m (890 ft) above sea level and 180 m (590 ft) above the lake Vättern, providing a panoramic view of the lake and the island of Visingsö. Built for and named after Count Per Brahe the Younger in the 1640s, the castle was abandoned by the 1680s and suffered a fire in 1708. The castle is near the modern E4 highway and is a popular destination for recreation and tourism. Of course i will recommend this place to everyone who will visit Sweden 🇸🇪 and i will recommend to everyone who will visit Jönköping and Gränna.

10 stars. A treat for fans of old motorization, but not only cars, which are huge here, motorcycles, but also radios, TV sets, cameras and even telephones or glued models. To be here and not to visit ... Hundreds of exhibits. These aren't just random models. Usually these are exhibits that have been used by famous people. You will be in Motala be sure to visit the museum

The entrance is near to the lake corner. Around 12 euros per adult. Inside there are a lot of motors, bicycles, motorcycles and other associated objects. The collection has a lot of items, not so much interactive or engaging part of you are not very passionate of motors or old objects. Need mote English panels for more exhibits.
Better if cheaper.

Recommend a visit here if your in or passing by Motala, lots of history and plenty to see, cars, motorbikes, bicycles, radios, mobile phones, planes and much more. Everything is written in both Swedish and English. Toilets available both inside the museum and the cafe.

This was a very special place for the people who like the idea of old and historic cars. It's a bit full of the cars in various types and there is also a little museum of foto, radio and phones at the place. It was not very crowded and with a lot of different kinds of vehicles. A bit too many to my taste but still ok. The entrance fee was 110 SEK.

Absolutely worth the visit. It feels to nostalgic to walk through the museuem and see how the world of cars and bicycles has changed under past 100 years. And yes, there was a fine collection of mobile phones.
Go and see if you can find your first/old mobile and a set of memories all aling with it.

Beautiful little museum with not only loads of fine cars and motorcycles to look at but also all kinds of things from the "past" including a whole wall with old cell phones where we stood a long time remembering our old phones through the years. Nice little shop and cafe. Small section for kids too where our daughter could sit and play.

A really cool collection of automotive history! Early bikes, transistor radios, an awesome cellphone-wall, Elvis Cadillac, old ford's and Rolls-Royces. We spent about an hour walking around and I was well worth the money. We appreciated the attention to detail!
The Air Force Museum in Linkoping, Sweden is a must-visit for aviation enthusiasts and families. Located just 7km from the town, it boasts the largest aircraft collection in the country. The museum recently expanded with new exhibits and modern facilities, offering free entry for visitors under 18. It's a great place to explore Swedish military aircraft and learn about the country's aviation history. Families can enjoy kid-friendly activities while exploring this well-preserved piece of history.
An amazing place both for kids and adults. Huge space and lots to do in the lab. Great food at the restaurant! Unfortunately the flight simulator was closed due to Covid-19 even the restrictions were lifted in Sweden at the time of our visit.

Amazing place to visit. It is interesting for children and adults too. A lot of things to see and try out. Will try to go there again when there will be more planes. The museum is free for everyone. Also next to the museum is the military airport that is also part active for Swedish fighter jets. Also amazing place for aviation enthusiasts!

While they do say on their website:
"Please note that due to rebuilding, some parts of the museum are closed."
What they do not say is that the "some parts" comprises 2/3rds of their collection! When they will be done with the renovations, it is not clear, just some time in 2022.
I have to deduct a couple stars for such a big impact not being made known, but aside from that, it really is a decent museum overall. The aircraft that were accessible are adequately spaced apart so you can wander around them.
Pros:
- Bus stops in either direction directly in front of the museum, and a large parking lot
- Museum restaurant is really good
- DC-3 Exhibit
- Captions for the Swedish documentaries
- Free Admission
Cons:
- 2/3rds of the aircraft being inaccessible
- Most of the non-aircraft exhibits were only in Swedish
If you have the option, I would visit the Aeroseum in Gothenburg until the renovations are complete at this museum.

Newly renovated, the museum was amazing to visit. Full of planes, history, interactive objects, games and the best of all - models of houses from the '60, '70, '80 etc. The smell, the furniture, the radio, the TVs, everything makes you feel like you traveled through time!
I 100% recommend going here if you are around.

An awesome museum detailing the excellent efforts of Swedens industry to develop amazingly capable aircraft to defend their borders. Totally honoured to have visited this place with the only regret that I didn’t leave enough time to see all of it.
On my next visit to Linköping I will amend.

One of the must visit place with kids, they will learn a lot about history.
Good time to visit is around 11 Am and then you can spend a good amount of time there, otherwise it's closes at 4 PM except on Thursday where it closes at 7 PM.
There is a cafe, where you can have nice coffee and a good monumental thing to buy for your collection.

Gamla Linköping Open Air Museum is a vast living museum village situated 2km to the west of the city, depicting Swedish life from a century ago. It boasts an extensive collection of around 90 houses, gardens and shops from the 19th-century era, complete with cobbled streets and picket-fenced gardens. Visitors can experience how markets looked like in those days, trades were done and commodities created and sold.
Old Linköping (open air museum) takes one back to old days - red wooden houses, narrow streets. There are exhibitions, crafts, cafes. Possibility to find and buy old things for different purpose. Positive - no entrance fee. Open air museum has dedicated paid parking (not big). However if one is lucky, can find free parking close to museum.
We visited it middle of September. Hardly any people there, no crowed. Might be there is more crowded in the middle of summer.

Linköping's old town is also an open air museum letting visitors experience life in Sweden around 100 years ago. It is free to visit and always open for taking a stroll on the streets. All the businesses however have their own opening schedules. You can park around the quarter, some areas are paid, some free for 2 hours.

Pleasant and well preserved. Has a variety of old buildings, houses and shops depicting the lifestyle in Sweden 100 years ago. A good number of shops were opened. The atmosphere is relaxed and shop keepers are friendly. We easily spent an entire afternoon slowly strolling the streets, learning the history, visiting the shops and stopping for coffee. Paid parking is found on the edge of town. It's not a huge lot but was adequate on a day with a small crowd.

We went to visit gamla Linköping this month and had a good time. Most of the houses have been closed but all the shops and restaurants where open. We had a nice walk, a little lunch with desert and coffee. Nice place to go to. One star less because the houses have been closed.

Magical place, very cool, very special. And with free entry and a lot of cool small stuff on sale, it is a lot of fun to just wander around and enjoy.
Seasonal wildlife park with tigers, a dolphin show, cable car rides, a safari camp & a petting zoo.
So awesome place. So good for as escape from Stockholm or as family trip with kids. I just loved every bit of this place. Dolphin show is must you will not regret it as well as old roller coater is just awesome. It was great day trip from Stockholm to Kolmården zoo. There is plants of parking.
Martins Freidenfelds — Google review
I really enjoyed Kolmården, especially sitting in the "skii lift" watching over the animals. Despite that animals should live in the wild, the enclosures were good for what it was, some animals had more space then others of course. I wasn't happy with the dolphin enclosure.. it was way to small. In general I had a great day, the weather was amazing and the view from one of the restaurant is super nice!!
Antonia Li — Google review
Overall, a nice park with some great shows and a spectacular 20 minutes ride above the animal pens thanks to the safari cable car.
Animals have quite a bit of space and the caregivers we met are nice.
One thing that felt weird is, as much as the dolphin show is great, seeing these animals kept in an indoor swimming pool is a bit disappointing.
V S — Google review
Awesome experience with family specially the safari and bamse world were super amazing. Also staff and care takers are lovely and yummy food options all over the park.

The animal variety is great, their enclosures are really big and unique. The rides are really well themed and Wildfire is a world class coaster! The restaurants variety is really good and there is ambiance music all throughout park. The only thing it needs is a transition coaster from Delfinexpressen and Wildfire.

Amazing experience! You need all day to see everything but it is worthy. I recommend to start with the safary and then the dolphins - this way you will miss the lines.

Kolmården Wildlife Park near the Norrköping, Sweden, is truly a remarkable and memorable place. One of the key highlights for me was the dedication and enthusiasm of all the staff members, which translates into a sense of responsibility that ensures visitors feel welcomed and cared for. Moreover, the park offers something for everyone, regardless of age or preference. From nostalgic reminiscences to new experiences, the Bamse park that had been one if my dream so far, safari cable car rides providing unforgettable views of animal habitats, encounters with endangered species prompting reflections on environmental conservation, dolphin shows, witches performances, and a plethora of other attractions, all come together to create a whimsical and enchanting memory for both children and adults alike. I highly recommend a visit to all nature enthusiasts. It's an experience unlike any other.

Top Attractions: Wild Fire 🔥 roller coaster. A must try. one of the best roller coasters I have been on.
Godala Safari(Cable ride) takes you to tour of wild safari top view.
If you are lucky you can get a glimpse of snow leopard too.
You will also get also a good view of Tiger.
Good clean washrooms and also some good snack places will also help to make a good day out.
Perfect place to spend a day out specially if you have kids.

Kolmården has been on my ‘bucket list’ to visit for many years, mainly due to the installation of Wildfire. It’s in an absolutely beautiful setting, but it is quite difficult to reach from Stockholm by public transport, so the whole journey took about 2 or so hours.
The park itself is gigantic, but this means the animals all have big enclosures. They had pretty much every animal you could think of spread across the 1.5 square kilometre site. One of the highlights of the day was their amazing Safari that you experience on a cable car. It’s really a unique and exciting way to see an array of animals without feeling you’re disturbing them. There were Tigers, Giraffes, Bears and many more.
The other enclosures were also vast and there were lots of them, so make sure you leave plenty of time to explore them. Highlights include the Elephants, Rhinos and the charismatic Camels.
Now, on to the rides. We wondered through the children’s area ‘Bamse’s World’ which was utterly charming but not really what we were after. We had come for Wildfire, and I’m pleased to say, it did not disappoint. The roller coaster commands the skyline, and is truly a sight to behold. It rides both fast and fierce but also very smooth, and is exhilarating from start to finish. There are a few other children’s rides in the nearby Marine World area, but Wildfire is worth the entry fee alone.
The park is beautifully kept and well looked after, and there are some amazing and unique experiences to enjoy alongside the world class Wildfire. If you have the time, it’s well worth making the trip to experience Kolmården.

Wonderful place for entire family - especially for kids. We visited in early summer, all animals were active and enjoying the sun. The tiger kingdom is worth it. The rides are super fun. Rollercoaster is great too. Special mention to the cable car ride, great to see animals from top, it goes at a very relaxing pace. Great for grandparents too. Can also stay overnight, but we did a day trip. Would definitely recommend.

We were here for the Halloween stuff, and while that did not disappoint - Värdshuset was the highlight - and while there's a lot to see and do here, it's very much a children's park. Was annoyed that Wildfire was not up and running "due to the weather" (no wind, no rain, so ... huh). Also, we bought the Halloween package with a hotel stay, and apparently those entrance tickets did not include any jetpasses, which is absurd. The website simply said that entrance tickets come with one jetpass each - so why don't the entrance tickets that come in a package do just that? Why give less to guests who pay more?

Wow, wonderful place to visit with family. The wildlife shows were simply spectacular! The Dolphin Show left me amazed with its jaw-dropping stunts and heartwarming interaction between the trainers and the dolphins. The Bird of Prey Show showcased the majestic flying skills of eagles and other raptors, providing valuable insights into their abilities and ecological importance.
Bamse world is best part of visit with kids. Don't miss it.

One of the highlights for me was the safari-like experience on the African savannah, where we could observe giraffes, elephants, and other magnificent creatures up close in a seemingly natural habitat. It truly felt like a journey into the wild.

The Park is great if:
- you are into wildlife
- you like extraordinary zoos
- you like to ride one of the best Rollercoasters in Europe.
Be sure to get the app for tge parking ticket (parking kosts extra).
Only thing I didn't like was the elephant area which was too small. They should definitely give them a larger territory.

Paid parking required for a historical castle with a bloody history very similar to the red wedding in the game of thrones. Although the architecture was great and the castle itself is free to visit with a fair selection of historical tidbits, in all honest truth it was not something that I would visit again or vividly remember in the future.
Food at the Cafe on the castle grounds was good, but a tad pricey.

An old castle that has burned down a couple of times. Not as impressive as it used to be (I assume) but still worth a visit. Three different exhibitions in the castle; the old days 13th century, the renaissance and modern time 19th century when the castle was used as a prison. We also took a guided tour of the castle named “walls, besieged and defence “ that was really good.
Also stroll over to the pond where you can see the rare red water lilys,

Located in Mariefred, a picturesque town on Lake Mälaren, Gripsholm Castle towers powerfully and fairytale-like over the idyllic small town of Mariefred in Södermanland (about 60 km west of Stockholm).
Gripsholm is known as Gustav Vasa's castle, as it was he who built the castle here in 1537. The renaissance castle offers romantic grounds, a fallow deer nature reserve and collections of furniture, handicrafts and interiors from four centuries.
Since Gustav Vasa, Gripsholm has belonged to the Swedish Royal Family and was used as one of their residences until the 18th century. It is now a museum, but still considered to be a palace at the disposal of the King and as such it is part of the Crown palaces in Sweden.
Take time to wander slowly through the many rooms and winding passages... See the Swedish State's collection of portraits – featuring prominent Swedes from the days of Gustav Vasa to present day musician and composer Benny Andersson. Visitors can also enjoy a royal stroll around the romantic castle grounds or meet the royal deer at the Hjorthagen nature reserve... and immerse yourself in Swedish history.
Opening hours:
May–September: Daily 10:00–16:00
October–November: Sat–Sun 12:00–15:00

Beautiful castle with an awesome painting collection. The rooms are very well preserved. It feels like traveling back in time, getting lost in the numerous rooms. Bring some time when visiting, there is lots to see. The tour (one English tour a day) gives a great overview and is amazing value for money (30sek for 1h and a great guide). But you can spend lots of time exploring the 3 different floors. One of the best castles I have been in as it really transports you back in time. The theater is stunning. The gardens are beautiful as well but don’t need as much time as the castle.

Nice and educative museum for kids. It’s really recommended to go on a weekday if possible, to have less of a crowd. However, slightly overpriced if going as a family. But very friendly staff and a nice learning day for kids (would recommend for the age of 7 and up, to fully understand the different elements and learn). I would definitely recommend this place.
Seasonal Baroque castle, left as it was in the 17th-century, with a lake & landscaped park.
Nice castle, beautiful area!
We went at easter and there was a flower bouquet 💐 event, it was very nice!

The church is beautiful!! I've been to so many, all around the world, this one is uniquely exceptional.
The castle was equally as impressive. Take the guided tour to the 'special rooms'!

One of the most impressive castles in Sweden. Owned by Carl Gustaf Wrangel, commanding general of the Swedish armed forces, it was designed to impress from inception. It houses one of the oldest arsenals in the world, and the best-preserved weapons collection in all of Europe. It also boasts the oldest crystal chandelier in existence, which is falling apart by the minute. Don't miss the chance to visit this gem!

A very impressive country mansion in a beautiful setting. Definitely worth the trip out on the Sko Peninsula. Admission was a little pricier than what we expected (230 kr per adult if I remember correctly).

Nice place to visit. You can also visit old graveyard. Beautiful water side where you can sit and enjoy the view. You can spend 3-4 hours easily.

It is a nice castle 🏰 at outskirts of Stockholm with rich historical relevance. Guided tour (also available in English) will really give you more interesting insights of the history. Nice apple 🍎 Gardens! Near to water and greenery. You can find place for small picnic during summer. Communication to the place is not super flixible. Though, bus route (perhaps ferry route) is connected from stockholm, if you have your car it will be a much more pleasant trip.

A must for anyone interested in the history of the wealthy of the 17th century. This castle is extremely well preserved, including the church built in the 13th century. You should really take a guided tour, during which the history of the castle is presented with lots of humour. There is even a degenerating crystal chandelier on display, probably the only one you will see in your lifetime.

Nice castle in Uppsala but you have to avail of the guided tour to see all the interesting rooms. Otherwise you can just see the rooms on the ground floor which has free entrance.
We also availed of the audioguide to know more about the rooms since the tour guide only goes through a few of the rooms plus the exclusive rooms on the top floors. There are also not so many signs that explains the history so an audioguide is helpful. Bring your own earphones though because they will only provide the website for the audioguide. Enjoy!

It's a shame that sections of the palace is closed unless tou take the guided tour, i would like to view it all at my own leisure when buying a regular ticket. Otherwise it's a great half day trip!

Beautiful castle, very well kept. I wish we could go slightly closer to the furniture in the rooms to have a freer feel to how it was in the old times.

Good castle with a beautiful collection inside. Just 4/5 start because you can only visit the armory and the workshop with a guide (30SEK/person).

One of the most beautiful baroque castles in Europe, built in 1654-1676. The founder was Field Marshal Karol Gustav Wrangel. Legend has it that he ordered Skokloster to be built on the model of the Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw. Today the castle belongs to the Swedish government and there is a beautiful museum there. The ticket price for admission is 120 SEK. There is a small cafe within the castle that should satisfy your needs. I wish you a peaceful visit.
