Beige on the outside and pistachio green on the inside, it was in 1942 that an ancient well for capturing the emerging spring was discovered.
The spring that emerges has a temperature of 34 degrees.
Declared of public interest by a decree of 1861, the spring is used as a drink distributed by the refreshment bars in the hall of sources as well as in the Callou thermal establishment.
Became property of the city in March 2021, the rotunda of the hospital source is an integral part of the Vichy thermal estate operated by the eponymous company.

From the time we sat down, they made it quite clear to us that we were not welcome. After 3 rude looks and comments of annoyance from staff who seemed irritated that they had an extra table to serve, and no sign of any menus or drinks offers, we up and left. Definitely won’t be supporting this kind of attitude or behaviour.

Indeed, a hostess is disrespectful and does not hesitate to use a more polite tone towards customers. I give my one and only star for the quality of the sensory space although activities are often unavailable.

Great welcome from the friendly staff, really interesting museum over 3 floors. Lots to read with excellent translation into English. Also you'll have headphones to listen to hundreds of pieces of music, from pop to hurdy gurdy, bagpipes guitar etc..The museum is well set out with toilets, cloakroom and drink machine on the ground floor. There are hundreds of old photos, beautiful instruments and interactive things to do. You'll need at least two and a half hours, but often there is a temporary exhibition too, in which case I would allow three to four hours. There is wheelchair access and a lift too. Definitely worth a visit.

The temporary exhibit was entertaining as well (currently movie music combined with Lego sets). Looking forward to returning again and again.

Pretty good museum but the english text don't correspond to the French text... The toilet aren't really big and the light in there were going crazy. there wasn't enough private space to kiss. We still found a spot behind the black vibrating cage to kiss where nobody could see us. Anyway, we had fun and the museum was funny, interesting but really quick if you don't read the text.

Museum only opened at 10, it took the staff half an hour to sort out headphones and then it closed at 12 on the dot so we didn't have enough time to see all the rooms!!! So we paid for a full entrance and we're told to leave before we could see the whole museum but it didn't seem to bother the staff! Kids weren't allowed to take part in any of the activities either as they need to be booked weeks in advance to get a place for coloring masks! A dissapointing experience!

A must-visit in Moulins. Guided tour only which must be booked by phoning the Musée Anne de Beaujeu. The guide is very professional and informative. The house is sumptuously furnished and full of surprises and quirks. I have not enjoyed a guided tour so much for a long time!

Totally brillant place. Excellent and knowledgeable guide who made the visit a total pleasure for the visitor who is keen on history. Full of awesome details that tell the visitor, as Mantin wished, how a (erudite) bourgeois of the late 1800s lived.

We took a quick stroll through the exhibition, and the guided tour. The tour itself is only in French. Our guide really nailed it. An interesting castle but a bit off putting during the guided tour. The entire party kept getting locked in because the guide kept locking the doors. This wasn’t helped by him telling us to move forward and then waiting at each door. Once might be just a bit careless but this happened 5 or 6 times and was getting embarrassing.

We stayed at Chateau D’Ainay-le-Vieil while traveling through France and loved it! It was the most amazing place to stay and with only 5 rooms you are guaranteed peace and quiet. They were beautiful and the fact we had them to ourselves made it even nicer.

Worth seeing, with a nice park, the castle from 14th century encircled by a moat is the most south-located castle in the Valley of Loire. Entry shop with souvenirs and tickets to buy. Nice surroundings. A super guide named Etienne will walk you around through the rooms of the castle. Only for French speaking visitors.

Decent little castle in a region that otherwise offers few interesting things to do. Not as spectacular as in other regions of France (such as the Alsace) or Germany, but still rather picturesque and worth a visit if you're in the neighbourhood and are looking for something to do.
We went for “flâneries lumineuses”.
Great experience to visit this beautiful abbey in night time.
The lights made the place amazing.
You have possibility to have picnic outside in the garden.
The place is well maintained.

And the worst the Palais Jacques Coeur has no more colors, we can barely distinguish Agnès Sorel a white wall, for the neophyte why chains on the building. Too bad for a city that competes for a place of European capital of culture.

Bonjour visite hier soir décevante l’ayante faite il y a 2 ans , les commentaires écrits passent trop vite mais ne décrivent pas assez la vie de Bourges. Unnamed Road, Jardin de l'archevêché, 18000 Bourges, France
Bourges Cathedral, erected in the late 12th century, boasts a remarkable design and features an extensive crypt that houses the burial site of Jean de Berry. The edifice's captivating architecture is comparable to that of Notre-Dame and there is no admission fee; visitors may make voluntary contributions towards lighting candles. The cathedral conserves some of the finest stained glass artwork, which can be examined closely to observe its layering techniques.
Art and architecture is mesmerising. Worth visiting the cathedral!

One of the most impressive cathedrals of France.
Tourist hint : it is very fresh inside, so if you are visiting Bourges on a very hot summer day, visit inside the cathedral in the middle of your trajectory.

I had wanted to visit ever since reading a book on cathedrals as a teenager. Suffice it to say paper did no justice whatsoever to the awe-inspiring reality of this masterwork of French Gothic. I spent the entire afternoon there and I could have spent a week. Stunning.

Lovely spot to stop for a while. If you understand French then there are QR codes all over for a guided tour. I would have loved to have been able to pick English since my french is just marginally functional for day to day stuff so I had a hard time following it. Absolutely beautiful though.

This medieval cathedral seems to rise out of nowhere as you turn the last corner upon approach. It's very hard to describe its beauty: not only its architecture is breathtaking but its stained glass are a superb masterpiece. We couldn't climb the tower, because we lacked the time, but we visited the crypt with a guided tour (the guided tour is compulsory to visit the crypt but it's worth every penny) and it was amazing. The guide gave us a detailed history of the cathedral and the works stored in the crypt. If you are in the region, this is a must-see.

The cathedral lacked the uplifting colours from the stained glass windows that it is famed for on bright days, today was dull. The scaffolding around the outside also spoiled the view of the wonderful exterior. Still awesome, just not at its best.

Some of the nicest preserved stained glass around. You can get right up under it to see the layering techniques as well. The adjacent garden is also beautiful. Well worth a detour.
Palais Jacques Coeur is a stunning 15th-century Gothic palace commissioned by the wealthy merchant and treasurer to King Charles VII, Jacques Coeur. This lavish residence predates the Renaissance chateaux of the Loire Valley but rivals them in elegance and opulence. The palace features intricate carvings, a galleried courtyard, spiral staircases, steamrooms, private apartments, servants' areas, and a treasure room.
Although I don't know much about architectural styles, I know about this palace that it fascinated me. The beauty of the facade of the inner courtyard simply takes your breath away. I went to visit it on a Thursday morning, I don't like it when it's crowded, I love to admire these beauties in peace. The price was €8. Although there is not much furniture in the palace rooms, it makes up for it with architectural details that are amazing. I couldn't wait to open the next door and be amazed by the beauty that surrounds me.

The rooms aren't decorated with furniture and art. However, for us, we felt it would have distracted us from the real gems of the palace. Which is the architecture and carvings. You need to look closely to spot some of the carvings.

Exquisite palace, big and lavish. Unfortunately only sad thing is that you can see architecture and building materials but all the rooms are very empty, some places have a few furniture items, some only pictures of objects, so the space seems too unoccupied, other than that it is a marvel!

Wonderful building. Amazing medieval sculptures on the cheminees. Building is unfortunately empty, no painting or furniture, but definitely a must see in the area. Careful with opening hours, it is closed midday, you must arrive 40mn minimum before closure. They will not let you in with luggage. no locker is available. I left mine in the restaurant across the street.

Get a guided tour. Otherwise - unless you know what to look for - it is an empty building. Looks like a house for sale from inside. It comes alive with the guide explaining. Looks far better from outside.
Oz Tasman — Google review
A beautiful monument to visit and discover through a one hour guided tour. The Palace is huge and only a part of this rich house can be visited. Sculptures, wooden cellars, impressive xvii century murals, ancient floors... The particularity of this place is that it results in a mix of a lot of architecture styles. It's a rare example of civilian 'gothique flamboyant' in France. Really worth to enter, even if the streetside wall is already very well decorated and remarkable for its original stone sculptures.

Well after reading some of the reviews on here we were unsure whether to go into the visitor centre or not, we did and I’m so glad that we did, the couple at reception were very friendly and both spoke some english, they even arranged for us to have an English guide in the planetarium,
The planetarium itself was in two parts, the first with the guide giving us a little explanation in english, for the second part we were provided with audio headsets with English narration.
All in all a very well worth experience and good value.
Take note, no mobile phones or other wifi devices are allowed, we left ours in the car, there is no 3g4g signal anyway.

(Translated by Google) The museum is worth it! The scenography is clear and educational. The route is logical, we start from the history of astronomy to arrive at the practical applications of the site's radio telescope. I particularly appreciated that there were no screens everywhere, yet it was modern and perfectly clear.
The guided tour is perfect for delving deeper into the visit, the guide was friendly, clear and took the time to explain and answer questions.
The planetarium session is worth it, however it does not provide precise information on the site, and could be seen in any other planetarium. We are well established to learn the basic notions of astronomy and we continue with a film. Please note, the 4:00 p.m. session was full on a Saturday, so it is better to have purchased your ticket in advance.

Parc Floral de la Source is a spacious park featuring various themed gardens, a butterfly greenhouse, farm animals, playground and mini-golf. During winter season, admission is free but the butterfly exhibit is closed. The park boasts an array of animals including Squirrels and Greater Flamingos as well as numerous bird species. It is an excellent destination to visit with children and enjoy a picnic.
A wonderful oasis of beauty!! It's worth spending a full day in the magnificent gardens and visiting the potager, the birds and the butterfly House, + many other surprises along the way. The château and the bridge over the river generously offer peaceful areas of contemplation. The little train helps children and elderly take advantage of all the beauty and great educational opportunities on offer. For me, the highlights were the chapel, the rose and dahlia gardens, and spending time in the sun around the stunning water fountain. A truly wonderful place. I hope to go back soon.

This park is absolutely lovely. You can spend hours in there discovering all sorts of flowers and trees. There are several play grounds and a butterfly house.
There’s also an area with animals (chicken, bunnies, alpacas, donkeys,…), a little train that goes around the park, Minigolf and you can rent little carts to cycle through the park yourself. During the winter months it is only open for a couple of hours in the afternoon. If you plan on going more than once it’s worth getting a annual pass.

The Cathedral Sainte-Croix d'Orléans is a Gothic cathedral renowned for its association with Joan of Arc. Visitors can take guided tours that showcase the treasury's collection of Byzantine enamels. Its stunning exterior exudes majesty, while inside, historical and cultural scenes create a peaceful atmosphere. This landmark is an emblematic representation of resistance in France and serves as the primary symbol of Orléans, the city where Joan lived.

Medieval site with a 1500s castle featuring period rooms, a perfume museum & restored gardens.
We enjoyed this Chateau. It even had a covered eating area where many families had their lunches. It was fun to see one couple eating with glasses of wine. The gardens were full of roses and expansive grounds. The chateau was a place that promoted perfumes. The story of perfume through the centuries was presented in the rooms of the chateau. There where many items that were used to make perfume and the vessels used to sell them. The chateau is worth seeing and finding out the history of perfumes in France!

This Palace is part of 10 "Chateaux Authentiques", in the Loiret region. It offers visitors a journey and insights of the history of the French hygiene from medieval to modern times. It also takes you to the French perfume history. Both are closely linked. For 8 Euros per person, a guided tour is recommended for the wealth of information our guide shared with us. Some parts were interactive making it interesting. We highly recommend this attraction.

A nice less know chateau a bit off the main tract. The perfum museum is an interesting concept, but could be modernised a bit. The gardens and the shop are very nice.

A wonderful place to walk, run, or commune with nature. I like taking pictures of whatever happens to catch my eye. Loads of activities for children in the Royaume des Enfants when it opens again ~ also poney rides, accro-branche, paddle boats, and more!

Love this place. Enormous park with special much open space as well as things to do: Boating, skatepark, accrobranche, playgrounds, amusement park, donkey rides, swimming pool and do much more. You can spend an entire day here and never get bored.

Large park along the Seine River in the South East of Paris (25min). A nice place to picnic, workout, go fishing, walking, kids playgrounds, pony club...

I love this park. So many things to do like hiking, picnics and kayaking. In summer the pools are really cool.
National park with woodland trails, raised forest walkways, wild deer & raptor flight presentations.
Spent the day with family, walked the whole loop, very tranquil forest. We watch the raptor bird presentation which was excellent. Very close up look at many raptors, flying around. Our kids played at the huge trampoline in the sky as my daughter called it. Great place for family and anyone looking for a relaxing walk in the forest. Beware of grumpy photographers thou, ran into one on the trail who thought he owned the place. It's a space for everyone.

We came from Asia to visit here. We saw online that there were lots to see. But it’s wasn’t at all as expected. It’s so expensive that even for 5 years old they took 18€ like adult😇. We are really disappointed. At the end of the trip we were all tired just walking around forest, there is not many animals to see. If you want to go for a walk it’s fine if not it’s really not worth. Y
Tenzin Samdup — Google review
The forest is quite nice, with a lot of deers. We didn’t see other animals.
The trampoline parc is medium size and kids at different ages. I sprained my ankle and I will spend the next month in bed.
The price of the ticket is big for a walk in the forest and trampoline. I could see the bird show because of my accident with the ankle .
The annual pass may worth the money.
Doina Olteanu — Google review
The bird show is really impressive. The show alone is worth the entrance ( 15€ per adult ).
There are boars and elks in the forest.
At the end, there are some treehouses.

Very beautiful walk in the forest, plenty of places to see animals.

Slightly cheaper by internet but well worth it. The rapace show was worth while so is the climb in the trees. We saw deer and boars. Kids thrilled.

Oak park with freeroaming stags, treetop walk, and great bird show. The only problem for a foreign tourist is the absence of English signs.
Château de Breteuil is a 17th-century country house with guided tours showcasing its opulent interiors filled with antiques. The estate also features ornate gardens, a maze, and interactive displays for children. Unlike the grandeur of Versailles, this chateau offers a friendly and peaceful atmosphere, with helpful guides providing insights into the family residence. Additionally, there are activities such as escape rooms and themed buildings to entertain visitors of all ages.
Entrance just for the garden and park is around 11€. I recommend having a walk in the park (around 1h). There are two ponds and quite a lot of birds.

Simply wonderful ! A great place to visit. You will enjoy the tour of the château, 4 centuries of history laid out in front of you. The park is magnificent and children of all ages will be captivated by the tales of Perrault. The guides are so knowledgable and helpful, it"s a real treasuree and a privilege to visit. Merci Monsieur le Marquis ! Your chateau is amazing *****

I never heard of this castle until today but it is beautiful, even in winter. There's a ton of history here, all explained by a guided tour with actual knowledge of the place. In winter it will be the castle itself that you want to see, in summer I imagine walking for hours in the gardens. Playground, very clean toilets, splendid views, picnic areas, it's all here.

American Review - Ok so... planned to take my friend to this chateau and had no idea it was a fairy tale chateau geared mostly towards kids. It was still a nice time, and I saw that they offer an escape room and tour and such so there is plenty to do there. However, I'd probably suggest this more for those who have children. I pre-purchased my tickets online at their website. There was a playground, themed building with interactive displays and animatrons, gardens, hedge maze, etc.

One of the best châteaux I’ve visited in France. It’s history is tighly linked to the French history. Quite surprising ! It’s definitely worth it!

We spent a sunny day there. We took the entrance to external areas only which includes access to the garden (ideal for a picnic with an available crepes and quick bites shop; it also includes a maze access as well as small projection shows which the little ones like a lot. We had the chance to also be able to see an escrime show on the date we visited which took us back in time. Recommended for a families with kids

The antithesis to our recent visit of Versilles!! Friendly & quiet, peaceful beautiful gardens, helpful & interesting guides & a real sense of a family residence open to the public. We were lucky & did meet the Marquis who gave us some history about the Chateau during our tour & then we chatted to him after our visit. A real thoughtful effort has been put into entertaining children, who would no doubt be bored by the tour very quickly otherwise. I found the early refrigeration system particulary interesting in the kitchen!! I got a real sense of the history of the place from the furniture & artifacts which are genuine to the Chateau itself, often unlike in other places, which are an assembly of disparate period pieces.
So glad we stumbled across this visit :)

A bit of a ride out of town, worth calling in ahead to ask about available tour times and see how busy the place is. Tends to get school trips which can make the place busy. You have a choice to do grounds or guided tour also. Would have been nice to know all the fairy tail story telling and the tour is in French. Plenty of parking outside and big enough for buses also. Place is privately owned and kept up well.
Turreted, 14th-century chateau & former royal residence, hung with tapestries & set in parkland.
Lovely castle in a lovely town...A fairy tale .. Sadly too few rooms to visit ..make sure to go in the morning to be able to visit the upstairs rooms..

The garden is very beautiful. It's worth the time to explore it. But inside the castle there's not much to see, there was just few rooms exposed.
With your ticket you get access to 2 more monuments that you can find close by.

The castle is no longer a residence of President, it’s only a museum. Very nice and cozy , not big, with beautiful interiors. Interesting combination of an old fortress , which you still can see, and new extension of the castle. It is surrounded by big park and pond. The tickets cost 7,5€ and currently available only online. Don’t forget to take a boat or a bike for a great walk in the park ! 15 euros per hour worth it!!!!

Very interesting place, with great explanations on the first and second empires, French presidents customs and much more, including end of the French divine monarchy. The place specifically built by Louis XIV for his wife (Marie-Antoinette) called "La laiterie de la Reine" (the milk farm of the Queen) is also worth visiting, included with the entrance ticket, but quite far (1km walk from the main castle). The garden is magnificent.
Overall a place that is tightly linked to the power in France for the past 300 years.
Château de Malmaison, once the country home of Napoleon and Joséphine, boasts 19th-century decor, furnishings, and paintings. Acquired by Josephine in 1799, she spared no expense in enhancing the house and grounds. The estate even served as a seat of the French government for a brief period.
Very interesting. Our guide Carmen was great, she helped us learn all about Josephine and her March through history.

A lovely place to stop by for the first free Sunday. Not overtly crowded and doesn’t take too long to walk through. The home has English translations for each room although a large placard upon hall entry describing the general history is not translated. There is an audioguide offer for €2 but decided to pass. Good preservation throughout. Make sure to see the black swans in the small pond at the back of the house.

We truly enjoyed the Chateau de Malmaison. Not as spectacular as some chateaux, it had a more lived in appeal for us. We could almost imagine Napoleon and Josephine living here. The rooms and furnishings give a very livable impression yet are quite impressive.

Sehr empfehlenswert.

Highly recommended. A beautiful and well-restored castle with an interesting exhibition. When we visited, the exterior facade was being worked on again.
Admission is very moderate at 6.50 euros, parking is free. Dogs are not allowed on site, but that is to be expected and is the case at many French sights. We found a shaded parking space.

The palace boasts a contemporary design and is not overly large, making it an ideal destination for visitors looking for a more intimate experience. Beautiful sceneries, great food, places to visit and very clean. However, people don't respect traffic rules. Was there last week with my wife and daughter. Worst occasion, we're on the middle of the zebra crossing with a child and 2 cyclist came beaming and didn't stop until last second and ended up crashing, shocking experience. People are generally rude on the street and public spaces. Sadly 3 stars and would never go back.

One of my favorite cities near Paris is Saint Germain en Laye! I love coming here and come here often to visit the castle and grand park. The Castle has a large green space where you can play sports, have a run, or enjoy a nice picnic. There is also a small snack bar where you can buy food and drinks. It’s currently closed due to covid but that doesn’t change anything. The castle is located near a lot of cafes and stores so it’s easy to walk out and get food or do some shopping! This is very kid friendly! Just make sure you wear comfortable shoes because you’ll do a lot of walking and the ground is dirt or grass. The castle is currently closed but when it’s open, it’s so great to do a little tour of the place!

Beautiful outdoors, the garden is huge and offers a breathtaking panoramic view on Paris, nice water fountain as well. However, it is a shame we cannot visit the rooms, kitchen and others parts of the Castle. Unfortunately, you only have access to one floor which hosts the national museum of archeology.

Decent paths to stroll around. The incredible 16th-17th century interior courtyard is my favourite part of the museum as the exhibits insides are 99.9% in French. I literally counted two English translations. Only the first floor is open as well. Glad I saw this on the free first Sunday as I would have hated to pay. I was in and out of the museum in 10 minutes. The church also is not that impressive IMO.
Jennifer Smith — Google review
First _ it is a bit far from Paris, so utterly peaceful but with Parisian architecture. This already makes it a true delight.
The food options are just amazing and I can recommend quite a few there. Last and my favorite part - there is a Neolithic period museum with real specimens from Bronze and Iron age inside the Chateau. If you are a nerd this is a must visit. If you are out on a romantic getaway the area + gardens will set the mood right ;)

Brilliant Sunday afternoon out. Fantastic views across the castle gardens, La Defense visible on the horizon. Lots to see and do. It's inside the city next to a huge part with playground and next to the exit of RER A. Also beside bar and restaurants. Perfect place with a perfect location and a view of Paris from the edge of the garden. Really recommend to visit.

What a beautiful château! This is where Louis XIV was born and lived until he moved to Versailles! Great look off from the gardens. This is not a Château that you can visit inside, except for the museum part and the interior court. Still worth the ride there!
While you are there, visit the archeology museum, which is where the world archives are! Fantastic museum :)

Thoiry ZooSafari is a unique destination that offers a combination of zoo, safari tours, world farm, maze, play areas and a castle with gardens. Visitors can enjoy a beautiful day out observing well-cared-for animals in spacious enclosures. The zoo features an array of animals, some of which may be unfamiliar to many visitors. There are shaded areas and picnic tables available for relaxation. The zoo also boasts playgrounds and entertainment options suitable for visitors of all ages.
Thoiry is undoubtedly the best zoo I've ever visited! I brought along my 2-year-old and 5-year-old, and we all had an absolutely fantastic time. The hyena and lion areas stand out with tunnels that allow you to walk through their habitats under a glass covering, providing an incredible view of the animals. Thoiry offers several playgrounds and a massive rope/trampoline/climbing area that entertained all of us, including my 75-year-old mother. What's remarkable is the spacious enclosures for each animal, which are meticulously designed to replicate their local habitats, setting it apart from zoos in the US. Though we missed the drive-through experience, we explored the entire zoo and will return during our next trip to France. I highly recommend Thoiry, especially if you have kids!

You can enjoy a safari for 30 euros (include the light show of Thoiry's castle). You will be able to sit next to ostrich and antelope. A rare things to do! There are also wolves, bears, elephant and giraffe! Be careful, if you want to see bears active don't go in winter or they will hibernate!

Waste of time and waste of money. We initially did the safari (taking your car and driving through), and barely saw any animals. They only had 1 elephant, 2 giraffes, 2 camels, 3 zebras, a few ostriches and small black bears.
Then we parked our cars and walked into the zoo. What another waste of time. We had to walk for hours just to see a few skinny lions, 2 tigers, 4 gorillas, a few small kangaroos and one medium size anaconda (just naming the few interesting animals that was there).
They also had chickens, frogs, small raccoons, very small otters, 2 horses and a few other animals like foxes, parrots and 1 leopard. In addition, the park was dirty and not well maintained.
Overall, if I knew I wouldn't have visited at all. It was a complete waste of time and money.

This is certainly not an African safari, but it is a very good urban safari.

I am not a big fan of zoos bit we took our 7yr old. This is a good zoo. The layout is very nice. They have a lot of interesting species that I had never seen, also tunnels through the feline enclosures. And a drive through “safari.” It’s all a bit small but very tidy, very nice. It always breaks my heart to see the gorillas bored to death.
The kids games a great. The food is absolutely disgusting, bring a picnic lunch.

Beautiful day out seeing animals who looked well cared and had proper spaces cared of to live in. Lots of animals, some of them we never saw before. It is amazing to see so many of them. Lots of shadow in the zoo. Playground in the middle. Picnic tables available. We arrived at the opening and left just before the closure - plan the whole day there!! Started with walking through the zoo and finished off with the car safari - great idea as we were happy to sit down at that point!

The Axe majeur is a stunning 3km-long straight pathway that stretches from Cergy village to an island, offering breathtaking views of Paris city. With its monuments and picturesque surroundings, this location is truly a sight to behold. It provides the perfect opportunity for exercise and enjoying the beauty of nature. Notably, there is a large swan nesting beneath the bridge; however, it's advisable to admire her from a safe distance.
