How long is the drive from Bellagio to Genoa?
The direct drive from Bellagio to Genoa is 134 mi (216 km), and should have a drive time of 2 hrs 26 mins in normal traffic.
If you’re going on a road trip from Bellagio to Genoa, we did the research for you and compiled some great stops along the way — with Milan, Como, Pavia, Stresa, Lugano, Varazze, Monza, Verbania, Vigevano, and Locarno, as well as top places to visit like Villa Monastero and Villa Carlotta, or the ever-popular Castello di Vezio.
The top cities between Bellagio and Genoa are Milan, Como, Pavia, Stresa, Lugano, Varazze, Monza, Verbania, Vigevano, and Locarno. Milan is the most popular city on the route. It's 1 hour from Bellagio and 2 hours from Genoa.
Lake Como is a stunningly beautiful lake in Italy that is well known for its dramatic mountain views and luxurious resorts. It's an easy 30-45 minute train ride from Milan, and a day trip is definitely recommended if you're looking to explore the area's charming stores and cafes as well as take in some incredible scenery.
it was a beautiful experience for myself and my friends. The Lake Como not only offers a stunning scenery with impressive and unique architecture but also scrumptious food! There was not a day that passed without one Aperol Spritz. In Lake Como you get to connect with the locals on a deeper level and you get the one in a lifetime opportunity to dabble into the italian lifestyle. The cities along the lake are easily accessed through the ferry, that rides regularly throughout the day. Every single town has its own specialty which makes them all worth exploring! I do have to add, that the city Como itself and Bellagio had a more posh touch to it. Although the towns were consistent with the cute italian architecture, you were surrounded by huge luxury houses and many many wealthy people. Furthermore, it was quite busy and that should be taken into consideration since i went there during NYE, meaning there weren’t as many tourists as there would be in the summer season. Still, you felt that Lake Como is loved by many people. Nonetheless it was a lovely experience!

A beautiful place - we took the train from Milan for 5 euros. But if you are planning a one day trip, there is not enough time to explore all the beaches by walking.

It was great to see the villas with the boat tour! You should definitely take a boat tour! Great to hear the history of Como and villas from a captain. You should definitely spare 2 days for Como.

This whole place looks like from a fairytale. Amazing views, beautiful lake with mountains all around. The building and all architecture is very traditional, lets say very italian. It makes you feel like in dream really. The food in restaurants though is quite expensive.

1.5 hours drive from Milan. Beautiful scenery and drive.
If you are driving make sure you leave well in advance because it gets busier.
Try to travel 3 must villages and if you are driving do not drive from one village to another always take fairy. It’s easy and short otherwise you will end up having difficulty uphill sharp turns.

One of the most beautiful attractions around Milan.
The atmosphere, scenery, weather, …every aspect of my experience was perfect.
It’s totally recommended as a day trip.

Lake Como offers amazing scenery and it's really worth your time. Lake is surrounded by beautiful towns/villages where you can stroll and sink the atmosphere. Lake also offers spectacular mountain views. I recommend to take a ferry from one side of the lake to the other, so you can see and enjoy the lake to the fullest. Plan to spend here couple hours. You can easily get to Como by taking direct train from Milan.

Lake como is very charming place. You will love it instant you see it. For a quieter area, try Bellano with train access. But anywhere on the lake you choose to stay will not disappoint. Simply gorgeous views from all sides of the lake. We love Lake Como.

Love this place, there are so many nice walks, cafes, bars and restaurants. There's something for everyone. You can also take boat tours of the lake. Definitely worth visiting if you are in the area.

It's definitely a special place with huge potential beauty, but... It's very commercial in certain parts. It's one of those areas that is suffering under its own success.

This spectacular lake is both serene and surrounded by amazing little towns and villas all the way through to Como City at the southern tip of this inverted Y- shaped very picturesque lake. It’s also surrounded by lush green mountains. We took the boat ride from Bellagio to Como city in this leg, where all these pictures were shot from. We started off with a thunderstorm that subsided quick and then it was a lovely and calm and relaxing boat ride all the way through. One must definitely take a cruise along this lake to get a good perspective of this beautiful lake and wonders of nature surrounding this place.

it was a very beautiful cozy place to visit. there's a lot of activities to do like boat riding and funicular ride where you can see the beauty of lake Como from uphill. a relaxing place to visit.

‼️BRIEFLY ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Among the largest lake in Italy and probably the most famous.
❗KEEP IN MIND: you can walk around it but it will take more than one day.. Cycling is also another good option but will require time as well. Else you have ferries going around.

Framed against a breathtaking landscape of steep, pine-swathed mountains, Lake Como is famed for its atmospheric sense of calm and elegance…… therefore a must visit for anyone!
I wanna go again and again this part of Italy

One of the highlights of the trip was passing by the elegant villas that dot the shoreline. Each one seemed more luxurious than the last, with their colorful facades and lush gardens adding to the charm of the surroundings. I couldn't help but imagine what life must be like for the fortunate few who call these magnificent properties home. I would have liked to have a guide to provide us with fascinating insights into the history and culture of Lake Como ( we found them online). Whether you're a nature lover, a history buff, or simply someone in search of a peaceful escape, I can't recommend it highly enough. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. You feel connected with the nature around you and with yourself as you watch the shows of lights given by the sun, the birds swimming and the life murmur on the shore.

Castello di Vezio, in the town of Varenna on the shores of Lake Como, offers stunning views over the lake and surrounding mountains. The 13th-century fortification was once part of a chain of early-warning medieval watchtowers. Admission is free.
I enjoyed hiking up to the top of this castle. The views were amazing. To get there you begin on the path to the left of the Montecodeno restaurant and hotel, which is a short walk from the ferry. It is a steep stone path, with a resting spot and natural spring water fountain to drink from a little more than halfway up. we took the other path down that leaves you over by the monastery. That was also steep but was more stair like with the positioning of the rocks. Definitely wear sneakers. Suitable for kids that are accustomed to hiking over the age of 8.

Worth the walk to see Lake Como from above Varenna. Two different routes up are fairly steep and can be quite tricky in places. But the views are lovely!

Interesting fortress tower , with well assembled information displays. Beautiful views of Lake Como from the top. There are hiking paths up to the small “village” that this tower is tucked away in, but just as easy to take a cab from below, and ring them back later for a pick up. They also have a small cafe for drinks on site.
Rucksack Foodie — Google review
A really interesting castle to visit. Entry is 5€ but there is a lot to see for such a relatively small place. A short hike with a small waterfall leads to the top of the hill. There is a selection of weapons and armors to look at and there is an underground prison that might scare some people. The views of Como lake are great and you can ascend the tower to enjoy them even more.
Mikołaj Pilarski — Google review
Easy hike up, we took one way up and the other way down. Beautiful views at the top. The castle was pretty cool to see as well.
Henrik Berg — Google review
Great little place with a lot of information. Not much to do apart from walk up to the castle, go up inside, look at the view, and come back down, but a good way to waste of couple of hours. I did NOT enjoy seeing the majestic birds trapped in their tiny cages.
Michael Bowtell — Google review
A must go. You can view the lake from another perspective. €5 per person to enter but no one to check tickets. Views are breathtaking
Jean Mercieca — Google review
The castel is not too big, but has a very nice view of the Como Lake.
Probably I shouldn't tell, but you can also visit the "secret place" of the castle.
Sorin Ion — Google review
The views were good, fair amount of people visit here, regardless of the season. It’s a decent trek up a fairly steep hill to get to. No taxis are willing to drive you to the location, so wear appropriate footwear unless driving a private vehicle. Also, google maps does not always show the correct walking path to start the hike.
Jack Widmer — Google review
Fascinating place to visit and incredible views of the lake. Lots of antiques from medieval age and description included in Italian and English. Eagle-owl in a cage which was impressive to see. Nicely maintained gardens through out. Interesting but creepy ghost statues adds to the experience.
Petra Gran — Google review
If you travel by train, the castle is far from the station. In the off season there are not many visitors, there was a working restaurant nearby. The place is beautiful with amazing views, worth a visit.
Aneliya Mitova — Google review
Wonderful location with breathtaking views of the lake. Many medieval antiquities with English and Italian descriptions available. Seeing an eagle-owl in a cage was astounding. beautifully kept gardens throughout. eerie but fascinating ghost sculptures enhance the atmosphere.

Most beautiful place in Varenna 🤩 Entrance tickets for adults 5€. Be ready to climb! from car parking ~15 min., from town ~40 min. if it’s rainy day the way until up will be very slippery, so I recommend to take comfortable better climbing shoes with yourself. On the top you will find small cafeteria where you can eat and drink, also at the same place you can buy tickets and souvenirs.
Lita Litukas — Google review
Super cool castle with a neat history and program. It's a hike to get to and there's not a ton to see and read but the grounds they do have are super well kept, the history in multiple languages and a really sweet Owl. Take the steps to the top of the castle tower and checkout the prison below.
Patrick Riley — Google review
What a beautiful castle. The walk wasn't bad, my mother inlaw of 65 came with us. I loved the view from the above. The tour of the castle was my favorite, also they have a prison at the bottom which I found interesting. You can get your ticket at the entrance for €5 per person and it was worth it. We went on a Saturday, and it wasn't busy, plus we got lucky with the weather, it was cloudy.
Aria Bak — Google review
Get ready for a fairly substantial uphill hike across occasionally uneven and rocky terrain, even though the path is terraced and stair-stepped. If you're in decent shape, you can do it, but I suggest doing it during a cool season or cool part of the day in other seasons. The stunning views over Lake Como are absolutely worth the effort. Tickets are 5E at the gate. Once through you're treated to lush vegetation, well-attended grounds, and magical views for miles across the water and mountains. It only gets better from there as you climb to even higher vistas atop the castle tower. Amazing. Then you can head down to "the dungeon" for some campy haunted house fun. As you start to head out, it's worth a stop in the cafe that serves up, coffee, beers and cocktails as well as some decent cafe food including pizzas, salads, and sandwiches. Surprisingly the prices are not tourist-gouging high and the service was very nice. Overall, Castell di Vezio is a fantastic way to spend the day.
The botanical garden Villa Monastero is a must-see for Instagram enthusiasts. The gardens are filled with beautiful statues, waterfalls, and porticoes that make for perfect photo ops. The centerpiece of the gardens is the House Museum, which features a perfectly preserved marble staircase, elegant drawing rooms, and decadent 19th century bathroom.
Amazing place in an amazing and characteristic little city. If you visiting Varenna you can skip this place. You will completely fall in love with Como lake. The view, the garden are amazing. The house museum is not that exciting but it is part of the building so it is worth visiting. Inside the villa you can also find a little bar to have a coffee with the amazing wonderful view. The price is not that expensive and the staff was really nice!
Caterina — Google review
The villa is full of organic plants along a nice lake. The ticket is quite cheap and not necessary to book online. The first time when we visited it, train from Milan to get there was quite funny since it run over the station and the staff had to stop it manually. We nearly went over the destination and the staff’s manner was still so calm down like this wasn’t a matter. However it was a good memory for us.
Regarding the villa, it underwent several transformations and renovations, resulting in the current architectural style which is a mix of medieval, Renaissance and neoclassical elements. Its gardens are particularly famous for their charming and variety. They feature a wide range of plant species, including rare and exotic plants, as well as sculptures and statues. The botanical garden is renowned for its collection of azaleas and rhododendrons which blom spectacularly in spring. A must-visit destination for visitors to Varenna.

Entry to the garden, for an inexpensive price, offers you a tranquil place to rest with the beautiful view of Lake Como in front of you. It is also a great place to take photos and to admire the plants and flowers. The garden looks like they are very well taken care of, and the greenery is vibrant and alive even when we visited in December. One of the highlights of my trip to Varenna.

Only visited the botanical gardens and they are most definitely worth a visit. It has many scenic locations for photos, a wide variety of plants (which is likely even better in spring) and a perfect location by the lake. Shouldn't be missed!

We were here on Assumption of Mary day. Very beautiful, but you must come early if you want to find a parking spot in a nearby parking or enywhere else. One day we came at 11 and all parkings in the city were full, the only one we could find with a free spot was high up a mountain. Next day we came at 9:30 in the morning and there were lots of places left.

The villa is more a beautiful garden, than a villa. The view is stunning. €10 per person. You can spend not more than an hour here, but it's worth it. This is an amazing green zone at the lake coast. It's always great to realize how a human could surround himself with the beauty of nature.

Only went to the outdoor gardens and it was beautiful and stretches very long. It took us almost 1.5 hours just walking to and fro the gardens and taking photos. The Villa Carlotta museum houses one of the most renowned gardens in Italy. The garden was designed by Gian Battista Sommariva and is a reflection of reason surrounded by its more romantic counterpart, the flashy theater of the following century. The art collection inside the museum is renowned for its many works by famous artists such as Canova, David, and Throvaldsen.
Fantastic villa on the shore of Lake Como with stunning views across the lake from both the museum and the garden. This Villa contains superb gardens and an excellent museum of the villa itself. The museum is large with lots of room to move around. It also has lots of different rooms, art, artifacts and antiques to see but my favourite part was walking around the very large garden.
Well worth a visit

Brilliant place to visit. They have two routes around the lovely gardens, one not so steep, and one fairly steep. But it was worth it for the views of Lake Como. They have a reasonable cafe, inside and out, with again lovely views. The villa(the museum) was ok

Absolutely stunning! As a local even I was impressed by its absolutely beautiful gardens and the villa. The view is incredible and I have already been here several times and will always come back. It’s a 10/10 for me.

One of the best gardens I have ever visited! So beautiful and diverse!
Try going in the morning so you have more time exploring as the garden is pretty big. It also has picnic spots so it’s a great place to spend a day on when visiting lake como. Has fantastic lake views, the villa itself is gorgeous, but the garden is a botanical one with many cool plants. Has a bamboo jungle which is magical.
There’s free parking down the villa & there are elevators to take you up in the garden & upper floors of the villa, right outside of the villa in the south.
Absolutely recommend a visit, so worth the price (15€ adults)

One of the biggest and also most beautiful villas in the Lake Como area, with audio guides available and 2 suggested itineraries depending on whether you want a short walk around or a longer stroll in the garden.
Definitely worth the visit, for all ages. It was also made wheelchair-accessible by the gentle slopes and lifts.
Parking available along the road, both free and paid lots.

Beautiful Villa, beautiful gardens and a lovely walk on a perfect spring day. The cafe and toilets were open. I would recommend 2-3 hours for a leisure walk around the gardens before finishing at the museum (which ends in the villa and gift shop). We parked 400mtrs before reaching the villa in a paid parking place which we were lucky to get some space in. There are some decent restaurants and places to eat walking distance from the villa. There is a ferry stop across the villa and that takes you to Bellagio (another beautiful place which is a must visit).

We loved this place! The garden was amazing with different species from all over the world. So cool that they are able to thrive in Italy due to the microclimates around Lake Como. The villa had beautiful views of the lake and offered many opportunities for great photos. The café inside had a decent selection of food and drinks, although slightly overpriced.
Carmelle Valles — Google review
Love it and hate it:) it was a great walk, very nice and scenic. Very poorly marked trying to exit. You need to really read the map as there is only one exit sign, and it's not at the exit. It is very confusing for most of the people there. Plan on about 4 hrs if you want to do the whole thing. There are signs that say 75 minutes for the full walk, maybe, probably not. Add an extra 30 minutes to find the exit. Think only 3 people work there, so you are on your own. Overall, it's a really great place with poor sinage.

Gorgeous house and gardens to visit. Lovely artefacts in the museum and sculptures.
The gardens are set in wonderful grounds, lots of it are not accessible for wheelchair users as it is very up and down.
Wonderful plants and flowers carefully set out with a waterfall running down the hillside. Great views from all angles and photo opportunities.
We visited on a very rainy day but this never spoilt our enjoyment.
Would recommend a half day visit. It has toilets and a coffee shop.

Beautiful villa with huge well kept garden. It has some old furniture dating back to the old times but also a collection of cutlery and crockery which don’t relate to the families who once lived there. In that respect villa Necchi in Milan is far more interesting. If you visit in the afternoon the sun has turned and you can take beautiful pictures from the balcony of the lake scenery.

Incredible villa. Is beautiful.
My partner and I went without a ticket and after less than 5 minutes in line, we entered. The garden is the most beautiful thing I saw. Very spacious, it takes 1 hour to explore it. Then the museum is also very good to know how those owners lived from centuries ago.

A memorable visit with stunning & immaculate gardens, and very well-signposted walking routes throughout the property with different options of different lengths. The house itself was impressive, but the gardens and views of the lake are the reason to visit. Would strongly recommend to anyone in the area!

Beautiful house surrounded by gardens that seem to go on forever. Lovely, well laid out walks, that go from manicured to wild, but always jaw dropping in their beauty. Would love to visit again.

Villa Carlotta is such a beautiful and peaceful place. The vast garden with the numerous flowers is absolutely breathtaking and the museum (inside of the Villa) is spacious and very lightning. I thought the place was smaller and that the visit would have been shorter but you have to take at least 45 min to 1 hour for the short visit (main garden tour and museum) and 1 hour 30 min to 2 hours for the big visit with all the garden.
It is clean, not too crowdy and I believe that Spring time offers the best images with the colorful flowers and trees everywhere. Don't hesitate !
S?verine M — Google review
The grounds are nice, however not easy to walk with a child and not wheelchair or pushchair friendly.
The main floor of the house is worth a quick visit but the other floors are not. The rooms are tiny and filled with minimal artifacts and furniture.
Worth a visit if in the area but your not missing out on much if you view from the lake.
The gardens are impressive from the Napoleon era.

The botanical garden is pretty and has some beautiful views. I was expecting to see a little but more, but it was very nice. Definitely wear sneakers, as there are a lot of rocks you will be walking on. It's right next to the Grand Hotel Tremezzo, so it's a very short walk and convenient.

Despite the pouring rain during our visit to Villa Carlotta, the botanical garden's beauty was undiminished, offering a peaceful walk along the 75-minute trail, ending with the museum. The garden was the definite highlight, overshadowing the less impressive museum.

Villa Carlotta Gardens in Lake Como, Italy, is an absolute gem. The lush botanical paradise captivated me with its exquisite beauty. Strolling through the meticulously maintained gardens, I was surrounded by a stunning array of plants, flowers, and ancient trees. The view of Lake Como from the villa's terraces is simply breathtaking, providing a serene backdrop for a leisurely visit.
The historical significance of Villa Carlotta, with its art collection and charming villa, adds depth to the experience. I was particularly moved by the art and sculptures on display, which offered a glimpse into the rich history of this place.
Also nice: doga were allowed to enter the gardens for a nice family walk. The longest red route is about 1 hour.

Villa Carlotta is a lovely botanical garden with so many different varieties of plants. There is such diversity in the fauna and flora growing here. For example, they have a rhododendron section, a succulent and cactus garden, a fern garden, and so many others. The layout of this garden has been planned by a mastermind., and many walking past throughout the garden. The villa itself has beautiful architecture and art inside. A lovely little oasis right on the waterfront and very close to the water ferry drop off.
The botanical garden of Villa Melzi d'Eril is a beautiful place with statues, lakeside paths, and a villa on the grounds. It is a great place to visit if you are interested in plants and flowers.
It was named the most beautiful garden of Italy in 2016 and it deserve the label. It is a must do in Bellagio.
Such a beautiful, peaceful place.
The view is simply stunning.
There is a museum.
Plants have labels to identify their names and origins.

Beautiful gardens, recommend to visit it in the afternoon when the sun is high and the villa and the garden are well sunlit. We visit it in the morning. Also it is good that the tickets are valid all day so you can go in and out as much as you want.

Wedding photographer's perspective: We've shot here a couple of pre weddings sessions and it has always been a beautiful experience. The architecture of this villa is a great frame for elegant pictures and the gardens are simply a paradise on earth. They are super wide so that even if the location is crowded it's still possible to find private spots for photography. The light at sunset here makes everything magical and cinematic. Our couples have always loved exploring this villa. The fee for shooting here is one of the cheapest on the lake, making choosing Villa Melzi an obvious choice 10/10!!

Lovely well maintained gardens with excellent information to aid the experience. I was expecting more flowers, however there was mostly trees. The museum was informative with easily digestible reading. Great views overlooking lake Como.

Villa Melzi is one of the highlights of lake como.
Inside here you can find manicured and beautiful lawns; a chapel at the end of the garden, the villa itself with unique symmetry architecture, and a small anti-aquarium house.
The villa’s beauty will strike at your heart with its beauty.
The villa has an interesting history; especially on its ownership origins till today and is worth a read.
Seen in the attached photos is a map of the villa.
In the chapel are incredibly ornate marble sculptures; seen in the attached video is one example of marble sculpted to look like fabric.

Very nice way to relax and enjoy the history of this magnificent place
Great views - lovely landscaping - exceptional architecture

One of the most beautiful places and gardens I’ve seen. It’s clean, the staff is constantly working to keep it gorgeous. Definitely worth a visit. I enjoyed very much taking a walk in the garden.

Had such higher expectations but unfortunately was disappointed. It's a nice place with a variety of flower and exotic plants but not much else.
The museum is basically one room with a few statues.
The yard/garden has beautiful views but definitely not worth 8 euros per person. The aquarium is almost non-existent.
It has a few decent buildings, one which is still occupied by a resident.
Overall great for a stroll but not much to see other than different types of trees and plants.
Mostly used by newly-weds for wedding pictures.

The gardens of the Melzi Villa are huge pretty, and actually pretty basic. The number of trees and unique plants is fun, but you're not going to see any elaborate floral arrangements or planting patterns. For example, the Japanese section is an unexpected treat, but the water inside the pond was was very dirty and unwelcoming. I'm not sure €8 is worth the entry price, at least not in August (maybe other months have different plants in season). It takes twenty minutes to walk from the ferry port to the front gate so budget that time into your day. You'll spend maybe a hour in the gardens.

Beautifully manicured and well taken care of gardens. The house and chapel are in terrific shape. Wonderful plant and tree specimens throughout. Make sure to bring water as there are no services other than a WC.
Mark LoGiurato — Google review
A very spectacular garden with beautiful landscaping. There are 2 interior buildings which are accessible, the museum and the chapel. The house is closed off which is understandable since it's actually somebody's house. I felt very lucky to be able to see the garden itself.
The museum is interesting and takes you through the ownership of the house over time,.and key events that happened there. It also gave me some perspective on the Napoleonic and Austrian periods.
Arriving here is a short pleasant walk along the promenade from the boat stop, very easy to get to. Set aside at least an hour since even though the garden may not look huge, it's actually pretty big. Bring water. Note that to appreciate many hiddem parts of the gardens you will need to walk up steep hills, but you can still enjoy much of it from the main, flat, walkway.

Beautiful garden area and a lot to explore, there’s a small chapel, a lot of nature, places to take photos and access to the lake near the end. It costed around 8 euros per person and its free for under twelve years old. Definitely a must visit for at least 3 hours (most of the time at the lake and walking) for your day trip to Bellagio to visit Lake Como.
toulan khouqeer — Google review
Garden was nice with a map for all the monuments and trees. 8 euro per person seemed a little high as the place was rather small and didn't offer much to look at except a nice view of the mountains and a couple landmarks on the property. I understand landscaping is a tedious job to maintain a property I just expected more. Not bad but not great

Beautiful gardens just on the bank of the lake in Bellagio. The walk and landscape is beautiful. Although they call Villa it is more the view of the lake and the lush gardens are the experience. Typically you walk from one to another and back to Bellagio and can take an hour. The entrance fees are 8€ and free for kids.
The Funicolare Como-Brunate is a cable railway that connects the towns of Como and Brunate, providing an exhilarating ride with breathtaking vistas of the lake. Passengers can enjoy spectacular views while ascending to the scenic hilltop village of Brunate. The funicular railway offers stunning panoramas over Lake Como and its lush surroundings, making it a popular attraction for tourists visiting Italy's Lombardy region.
The imposing cathedral was built over three centuries and features intricate marble Gothic architecture and a beautiful dome. The interior is decorated with colorful frescoes and intricate tapestries. It's a must-see destination in Como, Italy.
The Cattedrale di S. Maria Assunta di Como is not far from the lake and in the the main square. This cathedral was started in the 1400's and was not completed until the 1600's. They were persistent and it sure paid off as this Cathedral is magnificent, breath taking and awe inspiring. It is so huge it is impossible to capture the entire structure, marble, tapestries, multiple altars, stained glass windows, tombs, statutes and more. I unfortunately didn’t have much time to spend here but was in awe with what I did get to see. If I am ever in the Lake Como area again I would definitely come see it again and spend more time here.

Beautiful Catholic church with great interiors. The place had both gothic and renaissance interiors and there’s a story behind this. Go in and read about the architecture of the place and find out more about this piece of work that took hundreds of years to complete. This is free entry as well but they do ask for donations if you wish to support the church.

Free entrance! Also.. Look up! That ceiling definitely humbles you. Walking around the side of the back also allowed for a different and less crowded view.
Central to Como town, this place seems to be a common rendezvous area for people to meet — locals and trousers alike. So, find a place near by to sit and have an afternoon apero and just enjoy the people-watching while you write your postcards!
Do a quick wiki of this place before going. There’s some cool architectural snippets to be had. Good historical landmark!

This is a beautiful church with a long history. The interior is free to enter but donations are welcome. More than most churches, you'll find a lot of panels and historical pieces showcasing the church. The context helps a lot and makes it a better learning experience. The outside is wonderfully detailed, but the best part is that you can interact with parts of the old foundation! A side of the church that was excavated is open for viewing, seating, and appreciation. It's a great stop on your way around town.

Beautiful church in the heart of Como.
The facade looks rather simple, but it is still magnificent.
The interiors are well made, even if not too crowded.
There is even a part of the church dedicated for people who want to think and pray.
Definitely a nice stop if you are in town.
Leolandia is a fantastic amusement park that offers a wide range of attractions for both kids and adults. Visitors can enjoy thrilling roller coasters, water rides, and miniature models of famous Italian landmarks. The park is well-maintained with plenty of dining options and restroom facilities. It's recommended to arrive early to avoid crowds, as the waiting times for rides are generally short.
Awesome theme park for the little once. If the kid is more than 105 cm, he could ride most of the rides. Entry could vary from 25 up to 38 euros based on how early is your reservation. The parking is 5 euros. The food meals are reasonably priced especially for kids. Not for the thrill seekers.

We stayed whole Sunday over there, my 2,5 years and 6 years kid enjoyed it a lot! Great fun on summer day. Food is expensive as the toys, but drinks are the same more or less like everywhere in Italy. There's mini Italy as well as a small area with animals. Great escape day. If you have kids this is the right place to go. Went there last weekend and it was very crowded, especially the "bettola". Had to wait very long to get some food. Attractions were nice
Marco Marinaccio — Google review
The park is great, attractions are enough and fun for children of various ages. I love the farm zone and "lake" side walk area.
What I would suggest:
1. Shuttle bus from Milan to Leolandia - Most parks have this. The gang which you have to pass from the Capriate highway station is so dangerous, dirty and bizzare. It's the last place to be with children. You cannot say that is a "safe" passage.
2. Cleanliness of the park - I would recommend having more people clean the park and restaurants area.
3. Shading zone - Please consider planting trees around the park. There are not that many shading areas considering the amount of people and roads in the park. It's difficult with kids in the sun.

Great albeit expensive experience for the whole family. We were 4 adults and 2 kids.
The kids had a blast and us adults had a great time too.
The shows and PJ masks museum are in Italian and might not be the most interesting for non Italians. All of the rest of the activities are suitable for everyone (depending on height).

Very nice place. Has enough entertainment for kids. Most rollercoasters start from 105cm, so smaller kids can mainly enjoy water games, Thomas train, shows and there are a few slow ones.
Several areas for wood spread around, so no need to walk back and forth.
Get there early. It gets crowded closer to 12-13. Waiting time is low ( 5-10 min).

The Sforzesco Castle is a magnificent medieval-Renaissance fortress with multiple museums and art collections. It was originally built as a fortress by the Visconti dynasty, and later became home to the powerful Sforza dynasty. The castle's defences were designed by the multitalented da Vinci, who is also credited with designing other famous structures like the Mona Lisa.
Amazing place, wonderful historical experience! There are three different museums in the place, all three dealing with history. Simply amazing, one is an ancient art museum that includes paintings and photos from different periods going back several years. The second is ancient objects, furniture, moving accessories and more, the third is the museum of ancient musical instruments. One ticket costs five euros and allows entry to the three museums.
I really enjoyed it. You must visit there!
There was no line at the entrance and there was no need to purchase a ticket in advance.

Building itself is visually interesting, but not original. However, there are several rather nice museums inside. I spent there about three interesting hours for 5 Eur, which is very good value. The biggest exhibit is one of the last Michelangelo statues, which is housed in its own exposition, but there is way more to see in the castle. Definitely recommended if you have some time to spent while visiting Milano.

The entrance to the castle itself is free, but to get to the museums you need a ticket which is 5€ full price and lets you visit all of the museums. They even have lockers which let you travel around the castle and the museum without carrying anything.
Everything is nice and well kept, there are benches everywhere and the staff, even with their limited English, were trying to help as much as they could.
The whole castle is too big to walk on one day, so we prioritized the things we went there for. If you want to visit everything, you should visit at least twice.

A very nice castle and museum. There are many rooms, everybody will find something to like. You need to count with exhibition which takes at least 3 hours so if you hurry, you should check only items you are interested in. There is also a beautiful view from the top. If you take a bag with you, you can store it in a locker located downstairs (1 euro deposit - will be returned after you input the key back). After exhibition you can find a good place for rest outside. This place is also magical in the evening.

Definitely the largest intact castle I have been to, the distance from moat to first scalable wall must be 40m, and an attacker would face an array of arrows and spears before they even navigated a ladder into position.
That said, pay the 5€ for the entrance and the extra for the headset so you can learn about some of the more interesting paintings, tables and artifacts. (Stupidly, the put the headphone lady BEFORE the ticket purchase, so you have to circle back!)
I never made it up the tower, but I can only imagine those views!

Visited this castle whilst in Milan. It is in a great central location. It is free to enter and walk into, but if you want to walk around the inside of the castle and see the exhibits then that is €5 or you can get a student ticket. You are not allowed to take large bags around the exhibits either and cannot take videos, only pictures. This is nice to look around and you can also pay for a translator earpiece it you want to listen to the history. There are some people trying to sell you roses and bracelets etc on the inside so be aware of them

Sforzesco Castle itself is a sight to behold. We marvelled at its architecture and the historical significance of it. Inside, there are plenty of exhibits, from sculptures to drawings to furniture and many more.
While some may enjoy this, I was fatigued after an hour into the never ending displays on different floors of the castle. Perhaps splitting the visit into several days might ease this fatigue.
As the castle grounds are free to explore and is a tourist attraction, you will come across unscrupulous individuals who attempt to ‘welcome’ you to Milan by forcing bands or flowers on you. They will demand high payment in exchange. I am surprised that nothing is done by the staff of the castle regarding this. While it doesn’t detract from what the castle has to offer, this has definitely impacted our visit negatively as we navigated our ways away from these incidents.
For those not into art and history, I would still recommend visiting for the architecture and for pictures as this is a tourist spot in Milan. However, you don’t have to purchase tickets to view the exhibits.
Here are some images and videos of the exhibit. It only provides a glimpse into what the castle has to offer. For the complete experience, you should purchase the tickets and view the exhibit.

It's a castle with 6 museums inside it, all accessible for 3 euros (for students) or 5 euros. If you don't wanna go inside the museums, you can still check the place out, the fountain in front of it, and the big beautiful installations outside. However if you got time, the museus are really worth the visit. There is a Michelangelo sculpture, ancient arts and weapons, the musical instruments museum, an Egyptian museum, and a few others to check. The bad thing is that most of the exhibitions only have texts in Italian, no translation for English.

Sforzesco Castle is a must visit when in Milano. The castle and park is free, and enjoyable any time of the year. Viewing the castle is breath-taking and be sure to pay attention to the remaining piece of the Milanese wall. The most beautiful theatre I've ever seen. Separate entrances for convenience ensure no queues before or after performances. Polite staff help you find your seat and provide brochures, also answering any questions. Staff speak English, which is very pleasant.
It's best to arrive half an hour before the show to make sure you don't miss anything 🦢
I saw the new ballet - it's a wonderful production) highly recommend 🎭

Outside it looks like a nice old building but it is deceiving. Inside it is marvelous and majestic. If you do not have the chance to view a performance (or it happens to be too expensive as they usually are) you can still view it as a museum and receive a tour.

While the actual stage and house wasn't as mind-blowingly fabulous as I thought it would be, the museum was very high quality. The exhibit on Franco Zeffrigli (which may or may not still be open based on when you're reading this) was amazing and stunningly put together. The section featuring his costumes and sets was a highlight for sure. I went through the museum independently and with a tour group, and the experience for me was better on my own. The tour was more informative, but it moved too quickly too truly appreciate the museum, and it only featured the main portions, not the exhibitions (aka the Franco Zeffrigli bit). One last tip about the museum: you can't take water bottles in (among other things) and will have to store them in a locker before entering. The locker requires a €1 deposit.
No, I have not seen a show at La Scala.

Great to see the inside of this famous theatre, even if there was nothing on when we visited. We went as part of entry to the small, but fairly interesting museum, with exhibits of costumes and props they use in performances as well as paintings and sculptures of famous figures from the theatre's past.

I am so pleased I had the opportunity to visit La Scala. Time constraints meant I only bought an entrance ticket & did not do a tour, however, it was so beautiful & the museum was incredible. There was a rehearsal for the next night which added to the magic. My aim would be to return one day to watch a performance. Highly recommend.

Of course this theater is beautiful, but I think the standard tickets 12€ a person are not worth it at all. You can not do much, you can enter to 4-5 rooms that are exactly the same and have the same view of the theater. All you can do is enjoying the view and take pictures.
That's all.
Then you can see a little museum with paintings of famous artist and some music instruments.
I think if you want to see more on the inside of the theater you should reserve a tour in advance, to pay extra. You can se other rooms of the theater and enter the stage.
For me, it's not worth it. Just paid that 12€ to take my girlfriend a bunch of pictures and that's all -.-

Very beautiful theatre, I didn’t see any shows here but I visited during the day to check it out. Was very beautiful, very authentic atmosphere. It has a classic look and feel to the old style theatre buildings. Would love to see a performance here, I would definitely recommend checking it out if you’re into architecture and music.

Impressive, sadly the week I visited they were holding rehearsals so I had no guided tour for it, you might check before visiting.
Even without it you can walk by yourself as plenty Italian/English explanations are on the sides and you have two interactive tablets in one of the exhibits!

There are these moments in life just you were told about a place but you never really payed attention till you finally make it there and you are so surprised and thankful that you made it.
Scala of Milano is one of these moments 😍
My excitement was so great by the theater itself and the history of course.
A very important part of Milano and Italy 🇮🇹
So delightful to visit it.
Looking forward to watch a show next time:)

We went here on our summer holiday in 2023. There was no Line tot visit the museum. The entrance fee was € 26,- for two adults and three children.
There is a lot to see in this museum theater. The operahouse is beautiful with all the private sittings on the balcony.

Nice Opera house.
Friendly service.
Good chairs!
Very good Opera!
Book well in advance for best seats.
A bit hard to know what seat you actually buy.
Recommend to instead of ordering drinks inside the opera, to walk outside during intermission to the neighbouring restaurant, serving champagne and suitable intermission food.

It is one of the most beatififul, impressive and memorable places in Milan. We only visited the museum and loved it. You can see pictures, instruments and the jewellery used in various operas. Will return to see the show, hopefully. Highly recommend to everyone

La Scala di Milano is considered one of the best opera theatre in the world. We had the opportunity to assist in the famous "Guillaume Tell" opera by Gioachino Rossini, which was impressive. The access was super quick, and you could enjoy drinks and food during the break. The staff was super friendly and professional. Super recommended!

I enjoyed visiting Teatro Scalla Opera House. On this visit, I took a guided tour, which enhanced my experience. You do not have to exit after your tour. You are free to explore further. I enjoyed the various exhibitions. There was a photography exhibit and an exhibit about the opera singer Maria Callas. I enjoyed the museum and had the opportunity to visit the performance hall. The exhibition of Maria Callas was wonderful. One of my favorite parts was sitting in the isolation room and listening to her sing and getting that crispness from her voice. This is a must see, I definitely recommend it.

A beautiful and historic theater house that's still in use today. The who's who of Italy have graced this venue! The tickets I purchased directly through the website were very reasonably priced. They included viewing the plush red and golden theater from box seats and a self guided tour of the museum. The museum has tons of memorabilia from plays and concerts over hundreds of years! The venue itself is gorgeous! It's definitely worth a visit while in Milano!

La Scala in Milan is a real pearl in the city's crown, which every lover of culture and art should see with their own eyes. The architecture of the theater is breathtaking, and the interior, full of history and tradition, creates a unique atmosphere. Whether you are a die-hard opera fan or just starting your adventure with this art form, La Scala is sure to leave you with lasting impressions. I heartily encourage you to visit this unique place - I guarantee it will be an experience you will remember for a lifetime! Tickets can be purchased without attending the performance. Tours of the museum and views of the stage from third-floor balconies are available. Before arriving, be sure to check if there are any rehearsals, because then viewing the hall is unavailable - the entry schedule can be seen on the theater's website, it changes every two weeks - empty sun means that the stage is available to visitors.

My first visit to Teatro La Scala. This place is beautiful! The way the theater was built speaks of oppulence, and the acoustics are spectacular! We saw the opening night of "Guillaume Tell" by Giacomo Rossini (Think Lone Ranger theme, it's on the overture). The crowd in La Scala is rowdy, and they'll yell out after the acts are done to criticize or make statements, but that is to be expected. The electronic translation worked half the time, so that needs to be better. The opera itself had a modern scenery and costume design. Overall a wonderful experience!

An incredibly pleasant atmosphere and a whole different world where all the art lovers showcase their amazing music and performances, people who come to Milan should definitely stop by here, but it is important to buy tickets for the event 4-5 months in advance.
The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is a five-storey mall in Milan, Italy, which houses luxury clothing brands and upscale dining. The luxurious architecture and historic context of the building reflects the country's newly-acquired self-confidence after years of political and social turmoil during the chaotic era of Italian unification.
The Gallerias are definitely a must see. Even if just for a quick window shopping session and a picture in the middle (literally everyone has their phone out).
All the shops are high end but there are a couple of nice ice cream shops.
It’s right next to the Duomo so head on over after and walk around.
Highly recommend to visit

Definitely a beautiful spot to take pictures and visit some luxury stores. It's honestly a lot smaller than I thought it would be. It's just a walk through outdoor mall with a select number of stores and a few restaurants. Nice to walk through for a few minutes.
Visit earlier in the morning if you want to get pictures without anyone in them!

Our family recently explored the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, and the experience was nothing short of stunning.
The architecture of the Galleria is awe-inspiring, with its elegant design and intricate detailing. Walking through the historic passageways, we felt transported to a bygone era of grandeur and sophistication. The kids were fascinated by the intricate mosaics, high glass ceilings, and the general sense of opulence that permeated the surroundings.
However, for a family on a budget, the allure of the luxury shops and designer boutiques was bittersweet. While window shopping was enjoyable, the reality was that most of the items on display were way beyond our financial reach. It's essential for families to be aware that this is more of an experience destination than a budget-friendly shopping spot.
On a positive note, the atmosphere was vibrant, and the Galleria is not just about shopping. We took a moment to enjoy a coffee in one of the historic cafes, soaking in the ambiance and people-watching, which added a pleasant touch to our visit.
In summary, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is a must-visit for its architectural marvel and historical significance. Families should approach it with the understanding that the shopping experience might be more aspirational than practical, but the overall ambiance and cultural richness make it a worthwhile stop, even if you're not planning to splurge on designer goods.
The Duomo di Milano is the largest cathedral in the world and an iconic masterpiece of Gothic architecture. It took over 600 years to complete, and its facade includes 135 spires and 3,400 statues. Inside the cathedral, the hugestained glass depictions of biblical scenes are unique and hard to miss. If you're interested in adopting a statue or have deep pockets, this is definitely a site you should visit!
Extremely beautiful, spectacular and impressive cathedral! I was truly amazed to see it from the inside. It totally worth visiting! You can purchase tickets from the building across the street on the right side. There is normal tickets or with climbing up the towers included. Highly recommend visiting the rooftop. Unlike any other climbs I have done throughout Europe in cathedral towers. This is definitely not one to miss. You are walking amongst really cool architecture. We took the stairs, manageable and not too difficult, but there is also an elevator. The elevator does book up so I recommend booking in advance if you are looking for a specific time slot. Doumo is the cathedral building and terraces are the access to it's rooftop which is definitely worthwhile a good view to the plaza below and seeing the structure close up.

But, I think you should go because every perspective is always different and it’s worth it.
I took the lift (elevator) to go to the top. This entrance is on the right side of the back of the church. Opposite side where you can buy the tickets.

We bought tickets online before hand so we chose a time and only waited with the others that had our time stamp tickets which took maybe 5 minutes to get inside.
We also got tickets to go up top to the roof. We chose the stairs, and were informed that those tickets are actually separate and don't need a time to go up. You can use them any time of day until 6pm, the last group that can go up. And they're valid for 3 days. So you can see the inside at your designated time and then any time go up within the 3 days. Also many online sources say that men are required to wear pants, but during very hot summer months shorts are allowed.
Now I can cross it off my bucket list, but am also now determined to see it as many more times as I can!

This was one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen.
I came on a rainy day in December. Tickets were online and cost 16 regular 8 reduced. While this is a little steep, you can really spend 1-2 hours here. It is a lot of stairs but can be done in only a few minutes, and if you’re able-bodied it shouldn’t be an issue.
Once at the viewing platform, the views are CRAZY! Super beautiful on every side and it is so cool to be walking along the outside of the roof of the church. Surreal.
Another set of stairs takes you to the actual roof where the views are even better. Incredibly beautiful and historical architecture. Coming down the stairs you enter the Cathedral itself which is adorned with sculptures, painting, and more beautiful architecture. We came on a Sunday so we were able to observe a mass as well.
This was an absolutely wonderful experience. It’s famous for a reason, don’t miss it!

Visiting Milan Duomo with my family, including two kids, was an overall okay experience, but a few aspects left us with mixed feelings.
The cathedral itself is a breathtaking masterpiece, with its intricate architecture and stunning design. Our kids were fascinated by the grandeur of the exterior and the history behind this iconic landmark. However, our enthusiasm was somewhat dampened by the extensive security measures at the entrance. While safety is undoubtedly important, the level of scrutiny felt exaggerated, making the entry process a bit tedious, especially with children in tow.
One major downside during our visit was the ongoing renovation work. It impacted the overall ambiance and obstructed some of the views, diminishing the full splendor of this historical site.
Additionally, the cost of going up in the tower with the elevator was a bit steep (17 EUR / person if I remember correctly). We opted to skip the tower ascent due to the high cost, which was disappointing considering it's one of the main attractions.
On a positive note, the interior of the cathedral was awe-inspiring, and exploring the surrounding square was a delightful experience. The vibrant atmosphere and surrounding shops and cafes added to the charm of the visit.
In conclusion, Milan Duomo is undoubtedly a must-visit, but potential visitors should be aware of the renovation work and be prepared for the associated challenges. The security measures could be more streamlined, and the pricing for additional experiences like the tower ascent may need reconsideration, particularly for families with children.

I visited here during my trip to Milano Italy. Beautiful fascinating architecture. Beautiful and detailed architecture. I used the staircase to go up because the Lifts were sold out. If you plan to visit, check the dress code and lift availability.

For sure the architecture of the Cathedral is incredible taking account that it took over six hundred years to finish. All the spikes, sculptures were breath taking. It's the real object of religious culture. Worth seeing. Maybe not sleeping beneath it. Concrete floor is hard for your back :)

The cathedral is breath taking. So many intricate details & something interesting to see everywhere you look. Recommend getting tickets in advance to go in during peak season, the line can also get very long - make sure you have water when its hot! Make sure knees and shoulders are covered if you are going inside. Worth doing the roof top walk too.

Breathtaking. Get the combo pass with the lift and museum. After you do the rooftop, you can gain instant access to the Duomo church and bypass the Duomo line. Also included is the dioceses museum. It’s really worth a visit. Highlight of my trip. to Milan.

A breathtaking masterpiece, with its intricate gothic architecture and stunning marble facade. The panoramic views from the terrace are worth the climb, providing a unique perspective of Milan. Inside, the vast interior and beautiful stained glass windows leave a lasting impression. The intricate details of the sculptures and artwork showcase the skill and dedication of the artisans. A must-visit for anyone seeking a glimpse into the rich history and artistic beauty of Milan.

The cathedral is very impressive. The structure, the decoration, the sculptures, the paintings - literally everything is beautiful. A must-see when visiting Milan. It is worth noting that the staff at the cathedral are very helpful.
The view from the roof is equally spectacular, so it's worth a visit there too. You can use the stairs or the lift.
For both the cathedral and the rooftop, you can (and should) buy tickets in advance to avoid long queues.

A must to go inside & to the top.
We went early in the morning - lines were long. When we returned to the square later the afternoon for a walking tour there were no lines. (Not sure if that applies to every day). Beautiful inside. Audio guides available. Buy tickets online.
Buy ticket to go to the roof inside when you get the audio guide

One of the most special buildings I have been in- it is truly a work of art in architectural form. We did the roof tour which I would wholeheartedly recommend despite its increased price. You can see so much of Milan from the roof and it is great for photography. The inside of the cathedral is also very impressive. Probably the number one sight in Milan and well worth a visit.
The P.za del Duomo is a public square that was arranged in its current configuration during the 1700s. This urban space is primarily renowned for its grand cathedral, which stands as the centerpiece of the plaza.
This is a famous mural painting by Leonardo da Vinci that portrays the reactions of Jesus' apostles after he announces one of them will betray him. The painting is amazing and even bigger than expected, and its still one of the top things to do in Milan.
For me it's one of the most and fabulous art treasures in the world. I would easily compare this to completing a pilgrimage for art and history enthusiasts alike. I would say the feeling was like being one with the great master himself just to see the great fresco with my own eyes.
We purchased our tickets through pre booking with a 3 hour walking tour. You can not do the walking tour if you choose not to. To see this masterpiece in person is definitely a bucket list item.

Fascinating to see the original art work preserved after the world war bombing that almost destroyed it. The room is light and climate controlled to attempt to protect the artwork.
We paid €15 each to get in. Worth the price to see it, but there's not much else to see. It's a very small museum.
I believe tours start approximately every 15 to 30 minutes, but call ahead or be prepared for a short wait to enter. They only sell 35 tickets to each time slot and it's hard to predict demand.
The pictures of the damage to the building and courtyard from the war were moving and help one to realize that, in war, no one cares about anything of significant value...only an appetite for destruction.
It's heartbreaking to realize how self-destructive our human nature really is. Makes me long to put off the natural man and rise above those natural tendencies.

Beautiful! You only get 15 minutes in the room. No bags or food are allowed but you can lock up everything before you go in. Tickets sell out very fast so buy them well in advance or book a walking tour!!!

This is a perfect way to display this type of a masterpiece. Tickets booking online , you have to watch the website to book. Make sure you are aware of your time on your ticket .very small groups Entry is through a series of climate control doors and exhibits that show a lot of the history of the content and the mural. It's impossible to describe this is just everything you expected to be. Pictures of must stop if you're anywhere within a day's travel in the world.

You will have 30 minutes to visit this masterpiece!! Try to book with the guide you will get decent explanation of the painting . Maybe it doesn’t look so attractive but 30 minutes will be enough to leave you speechless. It is important to know that booking has to be done 2 months in advance due to to high demand.Once again i am happy to witnessed such an art !

Tickets must be purchased online. During my visit the green pass is needed to obtain your physical tickets. My tickets were 23+ EU because I selected an English tour guide which was worth it because our tour guide was very knowledgeable and passionate. You’re only allow to appreciate the amazing art work for 15 minutes, which is a bummer wish I could’ve stayed longer.

Definitely a must see in Milan and you can try to buy the tickets online although that option might be hard for last minute bookings. Alternative book tours via the normal websites and I would definitely recommend a guided tours. If the guide is good, you will learn a lot. You can only stay 15 minutes appreciating the last supper
Tom?s Fonseca — Google review
For my visit date, the online tickets were no longer available. I contacted the group sales and they told me that 18 days before any given visit date, any unsold group tickets are released for individual online purchases. So, I kept re-checking the website and I was able to buy 2 tickets but I had to be quick.
The museum has nice displays showing the restoration work as well as photos of the church from the WW2 bombings. It is truly amazing that the painting survived.
Sam Lee — Google review
It's very beautiful, and worth going at nearly any price. But the actual price is like €12, and the tour price is like €75. But you have to get your tickets well in advance because the tour companies buy up all the ticket spots, and it's basically scalping, which is really unsavory. But the museum is not motivated to do anything about it, so you're stuck paying a 500% markup for essentially nothing. So get your tickets early so that you don't have to pay the tour guide premium. The tour guide adds almost no value to the experience, so the minute you decide to go (and you definitely should go), get on line and buy your tickets, so you don't get caught in the tour guide markup scalping racket.

A beautiful painting and one of the greatest masterpieces ever! As you cant enter without reservation, you need to lan your trip according to its availability but its worth it. You need to plan 3 months in advance if you want to visit in the weekend!

Tickets go on sale 2 months in advance and they do sell out. Luckily I bought my tickets in advance because we saw multiple people turned away at the door the day we went. The website is a bit challenging to navigate, but a necessity. I gave the four star rating because I think they could make it more accessible for people. You have to go with a tour group, which is not ideal, but fine. The work itself is, of course, incredible and the preservation/restoration process is quite impressive.

Definitely one of the must see site in your next visit in Milano.
One of the most known painting in the world. You probably saw a photo or replica, but there is nothing like the experience to stand in front of it in the actual room it decorates.
It's impossible to get tickets in the tickets office you must booked long time in advance, I got it through a local tour guide few days before and still it was very limited in time slots. It is more expensive but you can enjoy the story about the history of the painting.
Tomer BenYehuda — Google review
I Reccomend buying tickets in advance as today and most days they are sold out. It's very interesting seeing such an iconic picture. You get a strict 15 minutes in the room but more than enough time.

I needed to order the tickets three months ago before I went in....
And also you can be inside only for 15 minutes after that you are kicked out literally.... Yeah it's a masterpiece but I don't think it's worth the time you need to wait to join and than see it only for 15 minutes....
These are just some of the pictures and the videos I took of the Cenacolo, The church, surrounding area and other....

Everything from the pick up of your ticket to the visit itself went very smoothly. All staff spoke perfect english and was very professional and polite. Really recommend visit.
A little thing that maybe was a bit tricky is the reservation process. I bought the ticket from the official website then through the service VIVATICKET. I had to constantly check for availability on the day I wanted to go. Luckily found a free spot at a convenient day and time but really recommend to book lot in advance.

I had the honor to be able to visit here and saw the painting of The Last Supper. The tour was amazing and informative. It was in English. I learned a lot about the history and the painting in the tour. The ticket had to be booked in advance, with the window opening 3 months ahead. The ticket usually sold out very quickly so plan accordingly. There will be lockers to store personal belongings.

As rude as the service desk woman was, the paintings made up for it!

I finally got to see the Last Supper, which I had always wanted to see someday.
We bought tickets in advance and were ushered inside at the appropriate time. The system was well organized and we were able to see the show comfortably. It is better to be punctual.
The Last Supper itself is not a spectacular painting, but I was surprised that a 500 year old painting has survived so well.
I highly recommend a visit when you are in Milan.

(Translated by Google) The main artistic monument, a masterpiece of architecture and painting, was founded thanks to a miraculous event.
The building has an octagonal plan with seven chapels. The walls are brick.
A splendid casket containing exuberant ornaments inside.
Contrast with its exterior in the clean sobriety of the octagonal prism.
Within time, the search for the illusionistic effect of depth stands out through the daring glimpse of the coffers in the barrel vaults of the chapel, in the folded pillars, in the oculi, in the lunettes and lastly in the harmonic roundels with heads in painted terracotta; everything is softened by the skilful use of lighting effects.
Inside there are ancient and precious frescoes and four tables by Ambrogio Bergognone.

(Translated by Google) We discovered this magnificent church almost by chance in a small street in the center of Lodi. It is a true jewel of the Lombard Renaissance and late Baroque. From the outside we were attracted by the frescoes protected by a baroque wrought iron gate. Upon entering we were struck by the richness of the frescoes and the sumptuousness of the gold decorations, the magnificently decorated octagonal dome and the carved wooden choir. The organ and the niche in which it is positioned are also very beautiful. It's definitely worth a visit. There is also a museum which however we were unable to visit as it was only open in the afternoon.

The Ponte Gobbo or Hunchbacked Bridge is a historic structure dating back to Roman times, reconstructed during the 17th century with an uneven path. This well-maintained bridge is a must-visit landmark where visitors can capture breathtaking photos on and under the bridge. Parking options include pay parking in Piazza San Francesco or free parking along Via Sopramura, though free parking near the bridge can be found at Borgo del Trebbia.
Beautiful place, in fact the village has been awarded as the most beautiful village in Italy couple of years back. I fully agree with that! Since we went on Xmas day, there were literally nobody around. The drive through the hill (last 10-15mins of drive) is bit difficult since the width of the road is just enough for one vehicle. But with almost no traffic, seems to be ok.
I love to visit the tourist places when it is empty, and I am glad I picked the Xmas day for the visit. There is a restaurant near this bridge, but was closed.
The village also was very quite. Just my kind of place!

The outlet is fantastic and here is my advice before visiting please:
1- Come with full stomach ( not hungry) otherwise you’ll waist your time in long cue to order food because of the crowded
2- come as early as possible otherwise you’ll wait about 20 minutes to get inside each shop
3- come early to find cars 🚗 parking
4- bring a suitcase 🧳 with you to carry your purchased items otherwise you’ll be tired of carrying stuff
5- Dressed well especially if you’re visiting in Winter ❄️ + comfortable shoes

Try to choose your time carefully because weather can make your experience are very bad especially in summer. They have variety of restaurants. Prices are not that cheap it differ than airport (tax free) by about 10%. Quite different than American outlets which give much low prices.
My experience was not bad. I recommend a visit but not a must.

2nd time in 11 years. Great to be back.
Vast place to wonder, immaculately maintained, super clean wash room, good brands but you have to look deep to spot the discounted stuff. Most stuff are reasonably priced.
Food kiosk and McDonald served nice food to munched. You dun have time for a full meal. Take the entire day to shop this place.

This is by far the largest outlet I’ve come across in North Italy. They have plenty of brands to select from, and the walking area is well organized and quite decent. Plenty of seating and eatery’s to choose from. One could spend an easy 1-2 days here; mainly heavy shoppers. And July is the month of heavy sale, I believe.
Fahd Batayneh فهد بطاينة — Google review
The bigger brands like Gucci, Prada, Fendi, Burberry, Loro Piana... have more goods and selections to choose from (and just a matter of personal taste to get anything you like). Celine is disappointing though. Discount-wise is quite attractive.
Overall the outlet does have quite some shops to browse for a day leisurely. A few restaurants to choose from, and some reside on the other side of the main road which you can cross by a bridge.
We took the shuttle service from Milan Centrale. The morning trip took quite long as some shoppers bought tickets at the spot when onboarding and also stopped mid-point for more pickup. The bus left Centrale at 10:15 (instead of the scheduled 10:00) and arrived at the outlet around 11:50. The return trip left on time at 18:30 and arrived back to Centrale at 20:00. The shuttle staff was pleasant though.

When in search of designer brands (Gucci, Prada, Armani) or discounts on my favorites (Coach, Nike, Levis Tommy H.), I go here. Prices in Milan city center exceed my budget but I will always find something here. It's also near some nice vinyards. A good day trip from Milan or when traveling to Piedmont region.
Celia A. — Google review
Although the place is far from Milan, there is a direct bus tour from Milano Centrale. The ticket for the trip costs €25, and the bus departs at 09:00, arriving at 11:00. This gives you ample time to explore all the shops there. Please note the time schedule for the ticket; if your return ticket is for 16:15, you should be at the bus by that time, or else you will need to purchase a flexible ticket for an additional €5 and wait until the next hour to return to Milan. During my visit, not many shops were having sales, but the prices were reasonable, and the workers welcomed everyone with a smile. My advice is to go there on weekdays when it’s less crowded, making it easier to shop. The prices for food in the area are not very cheap but are acceptable. Anyway, I would like to visit again during the festive or sales seasons

Great place for shopping both luxury & designer brands! This place has a nice mix for all budgets, overall a great place to spend the day shopping. The tax refund office is also conveniently located here. This outlet is about 3.5 hours from Firenze by car & if you plan to take a trip to Milan, include this outlet mall in your route, it’s definitely worth the visit!

One of the best Designer outlet malls I visited! Great collections, many stores, sometimes prices are still unreasonable, yet it is possible to find something good!
Hope to come back here someday.

I’d love to award more stars to this place. But with few exceptions, the staff stares you down if underdressed or don’t look the buying customer, you have to ask them to apply a general discount if you show it to them in the app. Of the staff/experience I recommend: Twinset Milano and Zimmerman. Both shops have professional, kind consultants, ready to help and counsel.

An interesting fortress which has been rebuilt from a medieval castle. Entry with a guided tour every hour at half past.
The guide spoke no English, but was very friendly, and fortunately there were detailed printed texts in English.

Very nice fortress but not too much to see inside even with the paid guided tour (€5/person). So if you don’t won’t to pay just stay in Gavi and enjoy the view up the hill ;-)

The Spianata di Castelletto is a raised platform that was once home to a fortress. This elevated terrace offers uninterrupted and stunning views of the surrounding landscape, making it an ideal tourist destination. One notable feature of this site is its Art Nouveau lift, providing visitors with a unique mode of transportation while enjoying the scenery.
The Galata Museo del Mare (GAM) is a large maritime museum in Genoa, Italy. It has exhibits on the history of shipping and navigation, with reconstructions of ships and a moored submarine. The museum is well-known for its extensive collection of original artifacts from all over the world.
Very interesting museum to visit. Tears of joy as my great grandfather left from Genova to immigrate to Brazil in the 1920's , so it was very touching to me to see how all the process went through for him. It was a very emotional experience for me. If not at least for the historical aspect of it. I also liked the written letters by Christophe Colombus, who was originally from Genova.
Edson Bittencourt Imperico — Google review
A big and good museum. The maritime museum offers a good overview of Genova’s naval and maritime activities from the late middle ages to now. The have several life size ships inside the building that you can walk through, which is impressive, especially the medieval galley. They provide much information, but not always with a translation of the Italian. A special treat is the visit to the submarine nearby, which is amazing. There is an interesting part on emigration and immigration. Some floors have special exhibitions. The top floor offers a wonderful view of the city with some indications of important structures. If you would find the museum a bit too big, because the entire visit can take a few hours, you can always skip parts.

Totalmente recomendable.

Very interesting for those who like the navy.
There is a very good full-scale reproduction of a galley and the interior of an emigrant ship to America. You can imagine the hard life on both ships. I really liked being able to enter a retired war submarine.

I like maritime museums, they’re a quick way of learning the history of a city & culture. We came in knowing little about Genoa, we left impressed & wanting to learn more. The museum is laid out well so it’s fairly easy to navigate. It’s not overly large, so you won’t get museum-fatigue. Some exhibits are dusty & looking a bit forlorn, others were obviously sponsored by a corporation & quite spiffy. Did we wish there were more placards in English? Sure. But no matter, there was enough to get the gist. Definitely definitely go up to the roof, sit & soak in the view

A truly fantastic day out! If you're spending time in Genoa, I highly recommend a visit to this museum.
As an English speaking guest, I found it a bit difficult to understand most of the detailed descriptions of artefacts on display (since all are written in Italian). There are some QR codes dotted around to access a translated version of the displays (there is free WiFi at this museum!).
PRO TIP: Download the Google Translate app to your phone! Use this to automatically translate descriptions and live translate conversations into your desired language (to fully understand the interactive videos on the upper floors).
BEST BITS: Visit the interactive "Immigration to America" to experience what it was like for millions of Italians migrating to the USA. You can grab a free passport and travel documents at the beginning of this exhibit on the 3rd floor.
Take a tour inside a real submarine! The S518 Nazario Sauro is docked in the harbour directly outside the museum. You'll be given a hard-hat and a hairnet at reception at the end of your tour around the museum (just show them your ticket for entry). You can also collect audio guides from this location.
Ticket prices (for museum and submarine visit 2022):
Adults: 19€
Concessions: 17€
Children from 4-12yrs 14€
(Please note children under 3 cannot go inside the submarine)
You can also buy tickets for only the museum at a cheaper rate (prices between 13€ to 8€)

It was a bit boring ,the kids didn't have fun there.
Prices are too high for what is available.
A lot of paintings without lighting to see as it should.
The submarine does not take more than 5 minutes to visit, but it is nice to see inside it once in a lifetime.
My children are 3 and 6 years old and I find it is not for their age because they are not having fun.
Aya NJ — Google review
We bought the Genova museum card which gives 24h access to many museums. Unfortunately no way near all... Which they don't do a lot to tell you about.
For example this museum was included - but just not the submarine - which they wanted additional 6 EUR/person for... (Didn't buy)
In my opinion, this is not reasonable and ruins the supposedly good deal with the museum card.
Regarding this museum, there was too little info in English to make it interesting.
Woman at counter did nothing to make it a good experience and never informed about any audio guide etc.
Several interesting points about navigation was impossible to understand as only Italian.
The emigration part was good - you learned about the trip conditions etc.

Huge museum. Very interesting. Recommend. Also go inside the submarine - buy the biglietto intero. I bought mine from Tiqets. I arrived earlier than the time booked but lady at ticket office said booking is not according to any time frame and let us in.

The museum is spread over 5 floors. In the, partly historical, areas of the building, the exhibitions are sorted according to different eras and topics. The rooms are detailed and lovingly designed and are a work of art in themselves. So you walk through authentic interiors of ships, through Brazilian huts, through a submarine and much more. Two huge, faithful replicas of ships can be freely explored. The display cases and exhibits are very authentically staged. There are also sub-action options in some areas. Unfortunately, the multilingualism of all the information conveyed in the museum fails. A guide for non-Italian speakers would be helpful. Online, the information in some rooms can be displayed in different languages.
For children under 4 years the museum is only conditionally suitable, since they find only few Possibilities of interaction for their age group, besides the entrance to the submarine in the port (in the ticket included) for children under 4 years is not allowed.
Once at the top, you can enjoy the view over Genoa and the harbor from the panoramic terrace.

Awesome museum with stunning exhibition spread out across multiple floors as well as submarine tour (definitely recommend unless you suffer from claustrophobia). Stunning observation deck with nice port and town overview. Within walking distance to the town centre. Plenty of interactive boards as well.

We visited the museum as we had a rainy day and needed something to pass the time. We were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed our visit!
We spent over 3 hours at the museum and enjoyed every moment. It is easy to lose interest in some museums when you visit for a long time, but we did not get that at all. The exhibits were well presented and varied enough to keep things interesting. There is also something for everyone, including history, art, and interactive exhibits.
Highly recommend giving this museum a visit if you are in the area.

If you enjoy maritime history and exhibits, put the Galata Museo del Mare on your list of things to do in Genoa. Five floors of interesting exhibits across hundreds of years related to sailing and shipping over the seas. Kind staff, great panoramic views from the top floor, and though I was solo on my visit, this would be a good experience for families as well. Only challenge I had was, with my limited and lacking Italian language skills, I didn't get to fully engage with several of the exhibits that were in Italian only. Fortunately there is Google Translate to help out.

Beautiful maritime musuem with much to offer. 17 euros and you have the whole musuem and submarine at your disposal. Only recommendation is that a gift shop full of genoa history would have been a bonus

Definitely worth the cost of the ticket!! Five floors of exposition and a great view on the museum roof. It has plenty of interactive activities, quite unusual in Italy. They are great as well. You have a simulator for driving boats and submarines. The museum drives you during the naval evolution giving and hints of the seamans during the different historic periods. The immigration section should be a mandatory visit for all children.

Brilliant museum with so much to see! Definitely bring kids to see the ships and climb down to a submarine. Museum is very looked after and Genovese people take a lot of pride in it. Definitely visit the emigration floor (4) also to see life on the ship and climb to the very top for a panoramic view of the city! Definitely worth a visit!

Great museum, very unpleasant staff (especially the older lady with glasses from reception). She was very annoyed by every question we had and she answered very "edgy" (we if they had an audio guide available and from where we can take helmets for submarine). Altough everywhere in the museum it is written you can acces the audio guide with the ticket code and 1 euro, she said no audio guide exists. She also sent us all the time to her colleague, meaning to change the row and sit in line again altough her colleague was 30 cm in her right and she was free, no one was behind us and we already sat in line.

Interesting. I thought it had enough English for me, but I can see why some people complain about only the Italian for a lot of it. I still found it enjoyable, but maybe a bit high priced for 17 Euro. The front staff were extremely nice to me. Lots of interesting things to see and the history of Genoa and boats are interesting enough for a few hour visit.

Amazing experience in a fantastic interactive museum. Galata Museum is a journey through history to understand the progression of ships and how naval instruments change to guide the navigation, how ancient people lived on top of ships, the vital role of migration over time, it is an inclusive experience that will engage everyone with the perfect naval reconstruction, photograph, 3Ds experience and the different structure of each floor. The last one was a wonderful surprise: the last 12 hours on the Andrea Doria, the recreation is wonderful and the reward is the breathtaking view on the city on the last floor. An adventure to do not miss for adults, children, families in which everyone will find his own space.
Old Port Bar, also known as Porto Antico, is a historic waterfront area in Genoa that has been active since the fifth century BC. Renzo Piano's renovations have transformed the area into a vibrant hub featuring attractions such as an aquarium, museums, an open-air pool, and numerous restaurants and bars. The port holds significant historical landmarks like Palazzo San Giorgio, which was once a jail and housed the world's first bank in the early 1400s.

The Aquarium of Genoa is the largest aquarium in Europe and features around 12,000 different species of fish and marine mammals. It's also home to six million litres (1.6m gallons) of water, making it one of the biggest aquariums in the world. The size of some of the tanks is impressive, especially for creatures like dolphins and sharks. Kids will love exploring all the exhibits, from manatees to coral reefs.
Book an early entrance (by 10am) so that there are fewer people so you can enjoy and see exhibits more easily. Price paid is fair. Lots to see. Don't miss the jellyfish and vivarium section. You need to cross to another side. Easily missed as you might think you're done.

A very nice aquarium with a variety of fish and aquatic animals. It’s worthwhile visiting and you could easily spend a couple of hours if not half a day. If you are with kids, you should plan on spending half a day here as there are plenty to see and will keep the kids interested. The exotic fish and marine life is well kept although one can always argue if the environment they are kept in is truly fair, especially for the marine mammals such as the dolphins and larger fish such as the sharks. The penguins are an added attraction here. You could take a break at the cafe inside the aquarium and spend some time taking in the views from the deck, with the views of the port.

I visited the aquarium with my school and it was a really nice experience. There is an enormous collection of all kind of sea creatures. We also saw penguins, crocodiles and turtles. Obviously there were also scary and strange sharks. Furthermore we were lucky enough to see a dolphin show.

Very outdated, poorly maintained aquarium with dark lighting and foggy uncleaned glass. Some exhibits were nice, like the Seahorses. Be mindful that the signage directing you to the exhibits is very poor, you do not get a visitor map and there are few signs informing you of the right way to proceed. Especially confusing with the upper and lower levels. After we visited the Penguin enclosure we were brought to a giant white building that had little signs, other than for lockers or bathrooms. There was a big desk that read “Behind The Scenes” and that requires an extra ticket (€8). So we turned back, not even realizing there was another big section of the aquarium after that. Very poor layout and guidance. When we asked about the other exhibits on the pier, they told us to go outside and we will find the Biosphere €5 extra) and other things. That is when we realized there is a Dolphin tank and Tropical Rainforest area… but it was too late. Once you go outside, you can not re-enter. Of course, it’s sad that they keep dolphins in a small tank anyway, so probably better not to see that. And finally, we were surrounded by aggressive migrants forcing us to take bracelets and souvenirs and begging for money along the entire area of the aquarium. From the entrance to the exit. Almost no security around.
Overall, this aquarium should be priced around €15 for the quality of the current experience. After our visit, we felt let down and overcharged. I hope they consider a major renovation to improve the exhibits and signage and consider discontinuing the dolphin shows and instead use the facility to rehabilitate and release injured or abandoned dolphins.

The Cattedrale di San Lorenzo is a Romanesque cathedral located in the heart of the Old Town in Genoa, Italy. It houses unique holy relics, including a frescoed interior and paintings by Luca Cambiaso, Barocci, Giovanni Andrea Ansaldo and Andrea Sansovino among others.
Beautiful Cathedral made of Ardesia, and pink, black and white marble from Tuscany it's worth going inside and observe it's internal structure too, there is an unexploded WWII bomb too, which is now safe but was left on display.

They have finally opened the staircase to go to the roof which offers some amazing city views. Was not overly busy so could enjoy it thoroughly. Not for disabled/elderly people, it is quite a climb through a narrow turning staircase. The interior of the Cathedral is beautiful as well, worth visiting when in Genova.

Incredible cathedral, wonderful exterior style. Interior is rich, as it needs to be when it comes to cathedrals, and the two lions from the outside I liked the most.
The other thing I like in this cathedral are ,,blind doors'' on both sides. All of the pictures were taken exactly 6 years ago, in 2015.

No visit to Genoa is compete without a visit to “Cattedrale Di San Lorenzo!” The architecture of the outside of the Cathedral, as well as the inside of the Cathedral are breathtaking in every way. Unfortunately, as of the time that I took these photos (July, 2022), the outside of the structure is being cleaned or restored so there is a lot of scaffolding, but do not let it prevent you from visiting! As you can see from my photos, it is still magnificent. Cathedrals and Holy Sites as amazing as “Cattedrale Di San Lorenzo” deserve to be kept up and looking great, so kindly be mindful of that if you visit!

A definite must visit purely based on the museum they have. This is not easy to find within the actual "Chiesa". Once you find it you will discover an amazing treasure. For example it is said to hold the bowl that contained Jesus's Blood, as well as the transport of the ashes of John the Baptist and a few other items of intense beauty. The workmanship of these objects are incredible, using gold and semi precious as well as precious stones. Don't miss this place as you won't regret it.

The trip up the mountain can be a treacherous one in how this the roads are with little if any room to allow passersby, but to once at the top, its awe-inspiring.
