Duisburg Zoo is an established wildlife park that houses a variety of exotic animals such as big cats, bears, and monkeys. Additionally, it features a dolphinarium and an adventure playground for visitors to enjoy. Although the dolphin show was not available due to COVID-19 restrictions, there could be alternate ways of experiencing the dolphins without attending a show. The zoo offers a vast expanse of grounds with ample opportunities to view numerous animals without feeling crowded.
A wonderful experience.... beautifully maintained...large enough space for the wild animals and it's a real place for the people to enjoy.
The dolphin show was the show stopper and the stellar performance by the wonderful dolphins under the able guidance of their trainer was a delight!

This is an amazing zoo with plenty of animals to see. It was fantastic to get up close to so many bigger animals including lions, tigers and elephants. Well laid out with the added bonus of needing to use a beautifully crafted bridge to cross a railway and motorway to get to the other half.
We didn't catch many of the events but that didn't soil the day, but the dolphin show was amazing and good fun.
Food is available throughout the attraction (although several kiosks were shut on our visit).
Good day out for the whole family and reasonably priced.
Rachel Crompton — Google review
As it goes for a Zoo, this one is quite nice. The animals seem to be healthy although some seemed a bit bored, but maybe it was that rainy day.
They had quite an interesting selection of wild life including beautiful white wolves.
And the dolphins show was incredible, it seems that they were having lots of fun.
The food in the Zoo restaurants were reasonably priced seeing that they have monopoly, but they put way too much salt on the fries.
Elad Itzkin — Google review
Vert nice zoo, not to crowded a lot of animals. The view on them is very good!
kasper fens — Google review
The zoo not so big, it doesn't have a lot of species and varieties. The space they offer for animals is better than other places I have visited before. The environment for each animal is almost matching their original by heat and hot. The dolphins part is closing at 4 PM so if you want to see them put in mind to go earlier.
I can give it 6 from 10 degrees.
Mgr. Muhtady Abuamreih — Google review
Nice zoo with a large variety of animals, disappointed that I didn't see the lion and the giraffe, also the weather didn't help as we went on a very cold day.
Anyway the dolphin's show was amazing and I really enjoyed it.
Hajar Hamouda — Google review
We planned a family trip to this zoo and we’re not disappointed. Everything was great. The only think we were really disappointed by was, that we didn’t get a chance to see the dolphin show. I guess it’s “Covid’s fault” but I feel there could be a way to at least see the dolphins without going to a show. Other than that it’s an enormous place and lots to see. The plz grounds were also greatly appreciated by the kids, especially the auto scooter.
Rika G? — Google review
A big applause for the zoo keepers who really take care of those cute Animals, Good place to visit.
sozvan saafi — Google review
The zoo is big and nice. Planty of places to rest of you need it. Enough food and drinks shops are available inside. My only concern is the ticket price is a little bit high.

Nice Zoo for a day trip...
Please note the time for the dolphin show as you enter the zoo cause the dolphin show should not be missed....
Great zoo for outing with kids as well as elderly people...
We'll surely visit Duisburg Zoo again

Very well maintained zoo. Loved the Dolphin show. Great place for kids!

Very good too with Delfinarium. Delfinarium has Shows in the concrete time. Better to schedule before.
Agnesa Lahiza — Google review
This is a great zoo well worth the money. You can easily walk the entire zoo and see everything in 5-6 hours. My children especially loved the dolphin show. It was good to see alll the improvements they are making.
Cin Brindle — Google review
Today was a cold day, so a lot of animals we could visit/see inside, totally understandable! We spend a good amount of time here! Amazing when the weather gets a little warmer! Sadly today all restaurants/warm places to eat and drink were all closed, there was one imbiss/snackbar available at the dolphinaruim so we had to enjoy that in the cold, as we were not allowed to bring the food in anywhere (which is understandable, but now rather harsh) which was kind of sad. I would have opened up the restaurant instead so people would stay a little longer and warm up instead of just one snackbar.. So we had to warm up in the dolphinarium after eating and the monkeyhouse later instead.
Marije's Knipsels — Google review
Beautiful zoo , quite nice to walk around. Take lots of things to eat and drink as it will take quite sometime. Do not miss the dolphin show it's really nice. We got lucky to see the tiger as well. The feeding time of different animals is listed in website if you go during that time you can see them for sure.
The Landschaftspark Duisburg-Nord is a unique destination in the Ruhr region, featuring a former metalworks transformed into a sprawling landscape park. Visitors can enjoy cycling trails, diving, climbing and high ropes activities amidst the contrast of lush greens and towering factory buildings. This impressive example of industrial tourism offers stunning views from atop one of its towers or chimneys.
A landscape park different from what we generally visit. The huge factory buildings in contrast with the greens make a beautiful combination. You can climb on one of the towers/Chimneys and have a good glimpse of the town. It’s one of a kind experience and a must visit.! A place that can be enjoyed by everyone.
Sayali Tidke — Google review
Former steel factory now a very nice park. They did a great job of maintaining it and made many of the spaces accessible with just a few design tweaks. Exploring on your own is enjoyable. You can climb up to the top of one of the towers to get a view of the area while learning about the previous factory processes.
Bert Linssen — Google review
Outstanding views. The place is so unique. Really unforgettable, especially for those who like technology, old plants and all these small parts and equipment and things like that.
Kate P — Google review
This site is amazing, a former steel manufacturing factory with many historic buildings and equipment turned into an open park with lots of different facilities like restaurants, picnic areas, play grounds, viewing points and much more. All the old factory buildings and equipment are very impressive and part of the park has recently even been used as the filming location for the latest Hunger Games film The Balled of Songbirds and Snakes. Worth a visit for the whole family.
Jos Berkien — Google review
One of the best places to visit in Ruhr region, especially if you're into industrial tourism. An incredible example of transforming an industrial zone into an effective public space.
The view from the top of the plant is stunning!
Andrii Kryshtal — Google review
Amazing. Refreshing "alternative " to a typical park. Entry is free and there is plenty of place to picnic. Toilets are abundant. Even toddlers can have a goo time on the ground level. All ok the ground is stroller-Ok. There are no elevators, so going up is on 2 legs.
One improvement opportunity: more e car charging stations! The 2 that were there were either defective or you couldn't charge.....
Szymon Leszczy?ski — Google review
Free park with old industrial buildings. Very Interesting. Many activities are organised here. Exhibition and there is also food and drinks available.
Suiram TRAVEL — Google review
Very impressive and interesting scenery of an ancient time during industrialization. Many buildings seem to be in very good condition even though nature is taking over with grass and plants. Some buildings can be climbed up to 70m with steps for incredible views.
Additionally you'll find some playgrounds for kids and some places to snack.
Hendrik Hansen — Google review
A very nice place to spend your weekend or holiday with your loved ones. I would recommend going on the high floor of the plant if you want a nice view of the city.
Devang Patel — Google review
I think this place, which used to be a forge, was closed due to high costs and expensive labor. It was opened to visitors after the necessary precautions were taken. It has been turned into a public park. From the top of the tower, the whole of North Rhine Fesvalism is visible. It also has a cinema for children where old videos of the park and the forge are broadcast. Moreover, you can see amazing lights at night.
Arda Efe — Google review
For someone interested in industrial heritage of NRW and industrial processes in general this is a must! Apart from that, from a landscape architects point of view also quite interesting! Nature taking over such a uninviting industrial space is very reassuring to see, possibly mankind has a chance of survival! Loved what they did to the place and will definitely be coming back to do some more exploration! Also we stumbled upon a food festival taking place, such great use of space!
Zeljko Varga — Google review
What an awesome spot filled with amazing structures - many of which you can work on / into / over, including right up to the top! Really cool.

Beautiful Steel Industry, great place for Photography and Urban Exploring and u can go to the best places.
Quintin Weener — Google review
A fantastic place, I walked around for hours fascinated by the industrial structures. Great for place for photography! You can also climb up one of the towers for a great view of the site.
Lupo Manaro — Google review
A place where you can really spend some amazing time with your mech buddies. It’s worth visiting here indeed and wish to visit here again. 😌
Ronit Roy — Google review
I really recommend a visit after sunset and in daylight. I will be back. This is a unique and very interesting park. Take a step back in time and get a glimpse of what it must have been like when the factory was operating.
Anna Anna — Google review
A little or not so little piece of steel industry history. Free to park and lots to see. In the car park alone there bit and piece of interest. Then you wander across the road, and the adventure really gets going. We climb furence number 5 to see the views. Walked along gantries to see the size and immense power of the heat and steam produced to create steel. Then there is an area turned into climbing walls and walking route to stretch the legs. At least 2 toliet blocks and a cafe. Agreat stop for the whole family to explore.
Debbie May — Google review
Great place to have a look around. It's free! Dogs are allowed with leash. Very cool park and great to see the old blast furnaces. Much bigger than the Carrie Blast Furnaces in Pittsburgh. Parking is free, but can be difficult to find a spot.
Anon — Google review
Maybe a bit niche but well worth a visit if you like industrial archaeology. (And even if you don't there are loads of walks / bike trails etc.) The view from the top of the blast furnace is epic and it's all free entry.

Amazing experience and a highlight when you are in Wuppertal. Just take a ride from one end to the other.
Consider checking the schedules because the Schwebebahn is often in maintenance mode.

Only runs on weekends right now. But if you keep that in mind, it's a very affordable and unique tourist attraction. Great way to see a beautiful city. Buy the all-day ticket and hop on and off. Don't forget to learn about the famous elephant who rode the train

Bahn is great fun, but pnr didnt work there it was hard to left the car
Mateusz Kowalski — Google review
It's a very good experience for a one time ride. The trains were nice and clean. Lines are beautifully constructed over the central canal through the city. The views of the surrounding hills are also nice.
Tips: The tail end seats offer the best views. It's a bit noisy ride.
Al-amin Nowshad — Google review
I was told about this suspension railway and recommended to try it. I joined at Kluse (one stop down from the main train station, next to the cinema) and grabbed a ticket - although cheap (only 1.70) I found the machine doesn't take credit card, so come prepared with coins.
The railway isn't big - only two carriages - but they are pretty frequent so if you miss one (or it's full), you don't have long to wait for the next. The carriages have been modernised: they're brightly-lit with clean seats that don't look worn in any way. Sitting at the back gives a good view down the river and along the roads during the trip, but as I tried it last evening in winter most of my trip was quite dark.
I travelled south-west all the way to Vohwinkel (the terminal stop) where it's possible to see the other carriages parked, so there's quite a few cars. I then grabbed the one on the other side and travelled back the other way.
Quite leisurely, a pretty smooth ride and fairly quick, given the age of the technology. Well worth the trip!
Interesting to visit, however the visiting time is very limited and the 2G rule is there although it is outdoor.

Toilets clean 👍🏼 Tip: Use the side entrances and book the tickets in advance. Then it's a walk through, the parking lot on the side of the road was SO free. We'd love to come back.

(Translated by Google) An event that you have to see if you come from the Ruhr area. We were there on a weekday and got a parking space straight away. We had already booked the tickets (adults €9) online and it was very quick at the entrance. Beautiful light events in different shapes and sizes. A great artist! You can also get mulled wine, coffee and bratwurst if you're slightly hungry. A bratwurst in a bun for €4 is reasonable. It took us about 1 1/2 to 2 hours and it was a nice trip ;-)

(Translated by Google) Beautiful light installations. Really great for 2-3 hours to walk and switch off. I would only recommend this to a limited extent with children. At the end there are lights in a park. There is no interaction to speak of. This probably makes it quickly uninteresting for children.
1 star less because there are no signposts. If you don't know your way around the park, you'll quickly find yourself in front of an exit that's not the one you came in through. That might have to be changed.
(Original)

The park lights are lovingly made, especially for children, and combine (light) art with outdoor exercise.
Definitely recommended!

Burg Castle, located in Solingen, Germany, is a medieval hilltop fortress that dates back to 1133. It is renowned for its decorative state rooms and apartments, as well as housing a local history museum. The castle offers panoramic views of the surrounding area and is a popular tourist destination. While some parts are under renovation until 2025, visitors can still enjoy the scenic walk areas and explore the shops nearby offering local products.
The castle closes at 17 on Sundays...so I haven't been inside...but it is very nice around it...the shop is very nice with lot of postcards, magnets, wooden swords and shields toys for kids, and other toys...and real kitchen knives and other stuff produced in Solingen area which is famous cause of it...I noticed two restaurants near by as well...I am coming back that's for sure

Very nice, kids friendly castle. Be aware that it is all about taking many steps up and down to make the round visit inside. Huge part of the castle is still under renovation (until 2025). Last but not least - a very nice and helpful lady that is taking care of toilets and not only - whatever your question or worry is, she will do her best to help or find the best solution for you.
Beata Jonik-Nowak — Google review
This is a great place to visit out of the regular tourist hotpots in NRW and be ready to spend at least half a day, since just the walk inside the castle will take around 3 hours.
Visiting the place is a great opportunity to have an impression of what a real middle-ages castle was, and albeit this is surely not the most famous castle in Germany, you will still be amazed particularly if you are not from Europe as in my case (keep in mind that a fraction of the building is covered due to restauration works).
The background of the castle story, shown in the top of the main tower is told in german with english subtitles. However the museum is in german only. Also in every level down from the top of the tower you have the chance to watch a video explaining more details of the timeline. All of those videos are in german only. Because of this I suggest you visit with a German that can help with translation.
After leaving the castle you will have the chance to visit the souvenir shop (where the entry tickets are sold) and have a meal in the restaurants nearby, or a waffle with ice cream. Additionally you can enjoy some leisure walks in the surrounding areas, which include the town itself, forest and rivers. So visiting the Burg Castle and surroundings can turn into a wonderful full-day visit.
I totally recommend it if you want to explore a more rural and typical german place out of the typical hotspot for tourists!

Nice mediaval castle, not a ruin, and nice surrounding town around the castle. All houses are in traditional Fachwerk style. There are few restaurants and condotoree close to castle. Also nice view on the mountains and trolley way to the topnof the mountain where castle is situated.

Very nice castle! You can walk outside - it's an area with small streets. Restaurants and cafes are on the castle's territory. Also you can find funicular (it's not for free).
You can buy tickets to visit inside of the castle. With baby carriage you can not do it. But you can leave it outside - no problem.
On the territory you can find a playground for kids.

(July/23) Sadly we could only see half of the castle due of its remodeling and the cable car was close. The castle is great with an amazing view of the surrounding landscape. Moreover, there are informative texts in English around the castle for you to read about its history.

A very small museum on the hill. The ticket costs 6 euro for adults. The only problem is, the guide will randomly occupy some exhibition room and ask others out.
I tried to get in the exhibition room. The guide, rudely and impatiently asked me out. I asked how long will it take and he said 5 minutes. So I took a rest for 5 minutes and they are not going to finish their guide. I said I would like to visit and this guide seems to get mad. He shouted to me that I am disturbing their guide and should visit some other exhibitions first.
Thank you for your advice sir. I will definitely do so if it was a bigger museum so I have anything else to see.
Maybe the museum should give some hint before selling their tickets. "Our guide has first priority and will occupy random rooms for random time. Complaint about it? Shut up and get out."

Interested place but was disappointed that it was such a building site. Once the works are finished I'm sure it will be a great visit. The price to get into the museum was good and reflected the building site chaos.

The castle was beautiful but was under some construction work so we were unable to cover the whole castle. We went to the top which was exciting and beautiful scenery was eye catching. Definitely recommended. The best part is the souvenir shops had some of the best souvenirs you would love to take home with you😊
Movie Park, located in Bottrop-Kirchhellen, Germany, is a popular amusement park with a movie theme. Divided into seven Hollywood-themed zones such as Hollywood Street Set and Nickland, the park offers a variety of family-friendly and thrilling rides, live shows, mazes, and audiovisual attractions based on famous movies and TV shows. Visitors can enjoy 4D cinema experiences like Ice Age or explore mazes inspired by The Walking Dead using real sets from the show.
This amusement park never fails to impress during the Halloween horror festival after 6:00. The atmosphere was great. A lot of things to do a lot of shows to see. Keep in mind all the shows are to be paid separately.During the day, it was really crowded. The waiting time for the rides was between 45 and 90 minutes so it's good to invest in a speedy pass sometime. A lot of options for food and drinks and overall a great experience for the day out.

1. I was trying to book in advance through the website and I couldn’t complete the payment due to an unknown error. The ticket was 34 euros but due to this error I booked on spot ticket worth 52 euros.
2. The park is small in size and fewer rides than expected.
3. Waiting time for any ride was 30 minutes on average in the peak time.
4. Waiting time for restaurant was 30 minutes.
5. The parking slots was about 20 minutes walking with kids.
6. I was expecting more shows and appearances of paw patrol characters ended up with 10 minutes show and 1 appearance in the park for only 2 characters chase and sky.
7. Overall good.

It is really great place for both adults and children, more importantly, the price is totally worty, we came on Friday, not a lot of people, waiting time for play is just 3-5 minutes, I love SpongeBob, I am totally immersed in this theme park. Fully recommend.

Lots of attractions and great value for the money you pay for the entry ticket.
Since there’s lots of people i would definitely recommend to bring some snacks and nibbles. I waited 1.5hrs to get a subway so having some extra food is a must.

Hard to review this place as it has two personalities, on one side its a very good theme park with some fun and themed rides and shows, on the other it's a badly maintained fairground with some awful rides (Bandit and the inverted coaster, I'm looking at you).
It needs an overhaul in both the Santa Monica and Nickelodeon areas tbh, better rides and better theming.
Also ride times, not shown anywhere so you have to join queues and hope, on the day we went that was fine as it wasn't overly busy, most we queued was 25 minutes but I can see it being a nightmare on busier days.
Also ride operations, one car on Star Trek which is ridiculous and causes lengthy unnecessary delays.
Food is terrible and expensive, waited an hour for fast food burgers, stood watching slow incompetent staff incapable of following order sequence numbers, by the time we got the burgers they were cold and unappealing. We did consider the buffet at Van Helsing but in reality it wasn't a buffet as you still chose a main course, the whole thing was confusing with a dark half empty eating hall.
I can't say we didn't enjoy our visit, we did but the place needs serious work or money throwing at it.

A great amusement park to spend the day with friends or family. It has a lot of rides that cater to thrill-seekers of all ages. It’s a huge park so one day may not be sufficient if you want to get on all the rides. Also coming early is recommended because on some rides you’ll have to wait for at least 30 minutes, be prepared for the long waits that could be frustrating sometimes. A downside would be that the rides are way too short, a few more minutes would have been awesome.
The food there is obviously very expensive and it’s not even worth it, so you’re better off packing your lunch by yourself or getting a meal somewhere outside. The cleanliness and maintenance of the park is worth mentioning, it was truly very clean. I have to say i went during the week, on a school day so it wasn’t very crowded but that’s not the typical experience there. To sum up, i highly recommend this park, it’s definitely worth it.

Good: Went with my family for 2 days and really loved it..Fantastic Rides, Night Rollercoaster experience, Halloween Horror Festival, Horror House, Live DJ, Overnight stay package.
Not soo good: Very crowded (especially in the weekends), very long waiting times for food and rides, no indication of wait time for rides, exiting the parking during park closure was a nightmare (took 45 minutes for us to just leave the parking), most of the staff don't speak English.

Quite a nice themepark, the moment you step in you actually get the feeling you are in a different world. Lots of different attractions, but the main star of this park, are the shows. There are several shows to see in pretty good quality. You don't wanna miss the Magic show.
Only not so good things in this park are mostly the opening times. Already open the park late and close quite early. Even after opening some things open later, which makes no sense.
Today also lots of attractions, store and restaurants never opened. Maybe due to the shortage of workers?
Even though those downsides we were lucky on a not so busy day, so low waiting times. But without the Magic and stunt show the park would be rated 2 out of 5, with all the closed entertainment.

It's a less than mediocre place. It may have adequate roller coasters, but the place is dirtier than Los Angeles. So many rides are out of order, everything in there (including the entry fee) is as over priced as hail and the service is painfully slow and just an overall freaking pain. Also if you have patience issues, you might not wanna go there, because you'll have to wait 20-80 minutes to go on a ride, while smelling dirty as hail people who shower twice a week. To put it shortly that place is inadequate and a waste of your precious life time.

Very nice park with lots of activities for kids and adults. The park is well splitted into two distinct parts, Nickland for smaller children with their parents and the other side for the older kids and adults. We were there for Halloween, so during the day it was just a normal themepark with some Halloween decoration, but as of 6:30pm came in the actors for Halloween to interact with the visitors or just scare them by surprise.
Giovanni Bekaert — Google review
Great theme park, although during Halloween, some of the shops or food places were closed which was a shame, also the Chupacabra and the walking dead attraction were not open 🤔
The theme park is only 6 minutes by foot from the Feldhausen station which is very convenient. You can also buy online two souvenir drinking cups with an all you can drink offer, which is actually great deal. There are soda machines in the park where you can refill your cup and choose from many options of soda!

Nice park for max 2 days. We recommend to use the discount tickets or actions via the website or Facebook. It really helps to reduce your expenses. During the Halloween period the park is changed to set the right scene.

Service was great from the service center. Toilet rooms have warm water and we're kept clean. However during our visit there was a cheerleading championship. Lines were very busy, and average waiting time was 70 minutes. After spending 120 euros for 2 tickets, it is optional to buy a fast pass for around 40 per person. This decrease your waiting time by more than 70% which is nuts. I do not recommend going to park on busy days, especially without an expensive fast pass. Which means on average you would need to spend 250 for 2 persons, food, tickets and fast passes. I'd rather stay at a 4 star hotel for a whole day than visit this park on a busy day.
Ryan Hupkens — Google review
A great family park to visit for spending a day or 2. The park has many rides for different types and depending upon the type, safety instructions are displayed to indicate who can sit and who can't. The ticket would be worth if the whole park and it's rides are enjoyed as it's quite a big park and 1 day may seem not sufficient so 2 day plan would be great for full redemption of ticket. Full day parking costs 8 euros and upon closing time, the qué of cars is quite long. Recommended to visit especially for families who may want a family day out.

A huge amusement park, more than enough for a day or two. It has rides that are suitable for different ages and a lot of souvenir shops and fast food places that will make you part with your money. Our toddler was most interested in Paw Patrol rides and would also happily visit the Paw Patrol Central station, but alas, we didn't get the special ticket for it (it is sold separately and they were sold out). I liked the Santa Monica part a lot - it provided a water playground which was very welcome on a hot day. The western part was also pretty authentic and would I think provide nice photo opportunities; pity we only got there late in the day.
There are also special shows in some of the pavilions so it is better to acquaint yourself with the schedule beforehand and have a plan. With a small child, it didn't make sense for us, but if he was older, I would certainly do so
The UNESCO-World Heritage Site Zollverein contains a coke and coal mine that began in 1849. It is one of the most visited tourist attractions in the Ruhr region, with activities including exhibitions, concerts, and dance performances.
Well maintained, nice tour. Nice place to spend a sunny afternoon. Most of it you can visit for free. Tour is a bit rushed now, because they have to cram 2 hours into 1, but still worth it.

It is a wonderful place that has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Although we have a vaccination passport, we could not enter the museum because we did not have a test, but the outdoor and garden tells everything. This is what it means to protect your values. I advise. If you are going during the pandemic period, you cannot see it without a daily test and vaccination passport and mask.

Once a huge coal mine now a beautiful industrial monument in the middle of a park with museums, restaurants, playgrounds, walking and biking lanes. No entry costs except for the museums. You can easily spend the whole day.

The Zeche Zollverstein terrain has a lot to show for including a swimming pool, restaurants, shops and two museums, each requiring a ticket purchase. One is dedicated to design, while the other offers a broad spectrum of items, ranging from paintings and sculptures to rocks and artifacts displayed among the industrial spaces and machinery. The general history museum also features beautifully lit staircases, though elevators are available throughout for convenience. To enjoy a nice panoramic view of the grounds, visitors must ascend the stairs to the rooftop. There are a lot of free parking spaces, but it can get quite busy near the entrance, so arriving early is advisable. Given the extensive size of the grounds, biking is also a great option. The main downside is the poor signage throughout. It's often unclear where things are located, the pricing, and which parts belong to the museum versus separate exhibitions. For a World Heritage site, one might expect better clarity.

Wonderful experience and great museum layout. In addition, a couple of hand made shops compliment the museum area. You could easily spend many hours in the museum. The staff was friendly and helpful.

It is a very big area which is nicely planned in terms of design, style, service to show history.
You can simply touch and feel history and how the weather and the time was earlier. You can also have a guide who can explain you about the history and if you have luck to have someone with a good story telling skills then you can really enjoy the whole visit. There is also restaurant and cafe inside alongside with toilet free of charge.
The complex and buildings are distributed a wide area so you may face and see different views

Wonderful place to visit. Unfortunately, they don't have English guides on weekdays, but only on weekends. But we were able to walk around freely through the entire campus. The old coal mine, factory, and machinery looked majestic. A very beautiful place indeed. If you are around Essen, I would recommend this place to visit. And a beautiful location for your photoshoot as well.

An interesting Place to visit which grants you a look into the past. There is a lot to see, and tours to be taken. Whether you are young or old, want to walk a lot or not, there is something for everyone. A lot to look at, a lot to explore. You can walk around the premises and take a look at the different sites or take the bus.
There is a variety of restaurants and cafes all over the area if you get hungry or thirsty in the meantime.
There is plenty of parking so that you should easily find a spot whenever you come. Alternatively the site is easily to reach by public transport.
Overall if you are interested in the industrial times you should definitely give this place a visit when you are around.

What an amazing place of industrial heritage. One can only try to imagine this site bustling with activity, 8000 people on site and the noise and smell and dust and dirt. All this started by Franz Haniel to mine the black gold. We benefited from a well informed tour guide who helped to bring this to life, highly recommended since this gives you access to buildings equipped with sound and video installations.

Informative and well designed museum about the Ruhr area. The museum includes a great viewpoint of the surrounding area and a socio-historic overview of the area. Only reason why it isn't 5 stars is because it felt a bit propagandistic as the environmental impact of the mining industry was barely mentioned. Regardless it is still worth a visit.

Very nice museum, the workers are polite and they have app which has language options to explain everything to you. 3 different time zone museums and extra football museum. From my taste, you should directly go downstairs 12m start with the history (past) museum, i find that s more interesting. In present section lot of photos and not useful information just items. It has wifi and toilet everywhere. For child under 5 age, student whose under 25 its FREE. So enjoy

The tickets fares are rather confusing. We went on a day where the Red dot Museum was closed. So we only visited the Rhur Museum.
I recommend the fare that includes the permanent, the special, and the temporary exhibition. As you have to walk and travel up and down the many floors inside the museum on both sides. There is a rooftop for taking pictures of the monument. But only stairs. Each floor they check if you have the correct ticket so I recommend you take the all-included one as you walk a lot up and down the stairs.
Permanent exhibition is about history of the industrial complex and collections. The temporary exhibition is currently about football.

I love this place and can relate to it to be an UNESCO world heritage. It's absolutely impressive and stunning. As a German I didn't even know what was here to see. Dimensions are huge and the industrial style to me looks surreal. I will definitely come back to see more and make a guided tour. There is a lot of industrial history here.
Monkey & bird park, plus petting zoo, kids' indoor & outdoor play areas & a garden café.
This park is a nice place to go with your children. But even if you don't have children it's still a worthwhile place to visit. I came here with my girlfriend and we bothed enjoyed our stay. We stayed around 2-3 hours and did several things.
The park is divided into a few sections, which provide different activities. The main attractions are the birds and the monkeys. If you don't hate crowds, I recommend coming here during the warm seasons, since during my stay many areas were closed due to the cold. For example some monkeys were kept indoors and you could only see them through a window, even though you can feed and pet them during warmer seasons.
There are also other animals like otters and artic wolfes, which made this park a little more divers.
The park also provides places to grill your own food and several playgrounds for your children. There is even a big playground indoors, if it suddenly starts to rain during your stay.
You can also find several attractions for children or even for adults. The only negative thing about them is, that you need to pay extra to get on a ride. They are cheap though, so it's definetely worth to try some of them. My girldfriend and I tried the "waterslide"(?) for 50 cents, which was definetely more than worth the money.
So all in all a very nice park if you enjoy animals and definetely worth a visit.

Lovely park with a petting zoos (adorable goats!), plenty of play grounds, places to buy food and you can feed monkeys.
It's a shame some of the animals (foxes, otters) are in such small pens, but plenty of the others can roam free, so be prepared to be surprised by a rogue kangaroo or chicken.
There's an indoor play area as well, which we didn't visit but it looks like a fun place for kids to spend time when there's rain. Not a lot of other places where you can go inside, so be sure to go when the weather's fine.
Sandra Nickel — Google review
It was a very expensive entrance fee, even for children n retired people, n the animals were in small cages n not in good conditions. People were allowed in with dogs which puts the animals under more stress. Personally I found it a horrible experience n would not recommend anyone else to support such a place. I thought nowadays these places were no longer allowed to operate. Who is coming to control the standards of this institutions?

Great place, especially for kids. Nice indoor and outdoor playground. There's not just monkeys and birds, but also a variety of others. You can also buy animal food at the entrance, so that you can feed the animals yourself. Quite fun :) you can also enter many animals' enclosure

Speaking birds, animals that come to you to be petted and climb on you, a place to have bbq at, a few smaller attractions like waterrides - overall a very nice place however when I was there a few of the monkeys looked a bit neglected - on young monkeys fur was coming off his skin (not gore-y) because it was so sleazy

Incredible atmosphere! For my first time at a German football match, I couldn’t have imagined how good the atmosphere is. Stadium is super tall, which adds to the feel of the place, plus deafening chants from the ultras. Could not recommend visiting more, and I would defiantly pay to go again. Beer is also not a rare sight, which adds even more to the enjoyment of the match.

This is the best football ground for atmosphere in Western Europe. Although there are better grounds in terms of facilities or more modern ones for comfort, none of them can beat Signal Iduna Park. Fans are fantastic throughout the whole match, beer is amazing, getting to the ground is easy by trams, can get packed going out but still you will be out in a matter of minutes. The official store at the ground is massive. All being said, you must visit! There are plenty of fans coming from the nearby countries also.

Best stadium in the world. Nothing as good as standing in the Südtrubüne/Yellow Wall.

The German Football Museum is an impressive institution showcasing the rich history of soccer in Germany through exhibits and multimedia installations. It caters to both football enthusiasts and families with spaces for kids to play. The museum presents interesting facts about the sport's history, including that of German football. While some may find the admission fee high, it covers all access, making it worth a visit. The friendly staff also adds to the overall experience.
The museum is amazing. If you’re a football fan (or a kid 😁), there is sooo much to see! There are also spaces where kids can play. So many interesting facts about the history of football and of German football. The fee is a bit high. I know that it includes everything, but maybe the fee could be lower just for visiting and people who want extra access to stuff could pay more.
Anyway, it’s definitely worth a visit!

Mind Boggling. a 7- star experience. Spend 3 hours and it still wasn't enough. There so much historical significance of this Sport And this was only the German part of it. Had to rush for the last 15 mins. But what an experience. This museum actually showcases why Football is a way of life. Being one of those who live football, this was so exciting, that I had to restrain myself from shouting ( in a good way) and jumping like a child. So detailed, so many artifacts, photos, and the historical videos were just so thrilling. and the 3-D show was just Wow.
I could go on and on, but will let you guys enjoy the real spine chilling experience. Personally, I Couldn't get enough, but will definitely visit again. And recommend to not just a football fan, but anyone who understands the significance of what a museum should be that honours legacy and it's legends.

Excellent museum next to the central train station in Dortmund. 19 euros ticket for an adult. Children, students etc. cheaper. Focussing on the international and domestic achievements of German football teams, this modern museum combines film and multimedia with traditional info boards (in German and English), and real momentos and original pieces behind glass. Fun items too such as Helmut Schön's cap and a tribute to Paul the Octopus (who was born at Sealife in my hometown of Weymouth, England). I am 61 years old, and I remember many of the German players and football triumphs, so for me it was worth visiting. I would recommend to any football fan who also enjoys history and museums. I was in the museum for 3 hours, but I wish I could have stayed longer, but I had to catch a train. There is plenty to see and do. There is also a film and tour.

A park with wide space and trees. You can not imagine how pleasant you will feel if you visit the place. I have visited twice this place and I loved the place. You can walk around, have relaxation in the sitting chair. There are ducks and birds freely roaming around. Due to COVID-19 mass gatherings were not permitted, but now it's no longer applicable. So you guys can spend some quality time with your family and friends there. You just have to pay a very little amount of entry fee for tickets. Wben you go there be ready to take a lot of photos from yourself because that could be really cool for your instagram profile photo 😉. It has many entrances and exits but i recommend to enter the main entrance because it is near Ubahn. For reaching the park you can simply take one Ubahn from Dortmund Hbf and reach the park after around 5 stations. There is a tower in the park which is so high and you can pay more 2 Euros and go to the top of it by elevator. Also there are some restaurants and cafe in the park which you can eat or have coffe or snack as well as food there. I don't recommend to go there alone because you need someone to take photo from you 😉

An amazing place to spend time with someone. The plants are beautiful. You do have to pay for the train and cable car, but besides that, the park is large. You can buy a combination ticket to go the tower, and the views are also gorgeous.

Beautiful park. Worth seeing in every weather condition. I guess in summer must be the best. But even now in winter we had a beautiful walk with my doggie❤️🦮. Cost 2€ the entry. What I do not understand is that you need to be vaccinated to enter even though all restaurants are closed during the winter🤷♀️🤦♀️.

Pretty nice but overrated park on the outskirts of Dortmund. It costs €3.50 to enter and you can't even get on top of Florian Turm. There aren't a lot of sights inside of the park apart from a lake and the Japanese garden which is cool. I haven't seen such garden. However, everything else is just normal and you will find it in every public park. Also, all restaurants and shops are closed. However, there are many different kinds of trees and flowers, it is really calm and there are a lot of attractions for kids.

I recently visited Westfalen Park in February and was impressed by its vast green space and numerous children's play areas. Although the railway and boats were closed during the winter season, it remained a fantastic park for children to explore and enjoy. Additionally, the park offers great opportunities for jogging and staying active.

Ticket price for an adult:
3.5 euros (just walk in the park)
5.5 euros (+ climb the tower).
There is a real train on the territory. The duration of the route is about 15 minutes. Ticket price for an adult is 5 euros, for children under 4 years - free. There are toilets, cafes, playgrounds. There is no alcohol in the cafe.

Although I'd rebel against a tax for entering a PARK, i must say it's worth it. WC with hot water, a lot of light installations, two subway/u-bahn stations in close proximity, a lot of wildlife, different gardens and overall a calm and beautiful place, not ruined by night gangs of teens.

Spring time is one of the best times for the park. We were there in the middle of the day, so it was empty.
The food selection is obviously limited more to weekends and summer, but it's always a great place for a stroll.

A great park to walk around, especially with kids. The entrance fee is 3,5€. Although this is a botanical garden full with many types of roses, the flowers haven't bloomed yet. That was a shame.

A beautiful park open everyday to people who wish to visit. The buildings are beautiful from the outside, but because this is a school and not a Museum, visitors are not allowed to walk in to. A visit during the weekdays means you get to see the future Finance managers & Econimists of Nordrhein-Westfalen.

Although it looks like a castle this is a school for the tax and finance management studies for that province... you get to roam around the outercircle and surrounding of this premises which has a huge park full of sculptures at its back side and a water body surrounding the castle which has ducks in it. You can only get inside if accompanied by a resident of the building otherwise it's a good walk around surrounding.

what a gem of a find, unfortunatley covid restricted our tour. the garden is not as big as Herrenhausen in Hannover but here is a spooky trail at the back of the Schloss. there is also a trek to another historical site, that is 12 km. maye next time. will be back.

A MOST impressive German castle with wonderful shady waks under lines of oak and other trees. The photos say it all.
Do visit the adjoining town for lunch, but avoid the dull ice creams at Schloss Nordkirchen served by a rather miserable man!

Nordkirche Castle can be reached in about 35 minutes from Münster by car. There is enough parking space. Nordkirchen Castle is a very large moated castle in the Baroque style, with a beautiful park and waterways. The castle is very popular for weddings and also for excursions. A small part of the interior can be visited with a guided tour. There is also a restaurant with a beautiful terrace.

Visited Schloss Nordkirchen on a Sunday with really good weather. Beautiful English garden (Venus island) with lots of statues. Go for some cake 🍰 and a coffee or a beer 🍻 at the Schloss Café in the courtyard. Afterward go for a long walk (Fledermaus Weg) in the nearby forest 🌳 and end up back at the parking lot 🅿️ where you started off.
Atta Cave is a spectacular natural attraction that boasts of colourful stalactites and stalagmites. It offers a guided tour spanning approximately 1km, which is only available in German but is comprehensive. The tour involves climbing some stairs and uphill terrain, making it unsuitable for wheelchair users. Visitors are advised to wear comfortable shoes and warm clothing.
Great guided tour of app. 1km. Only in German though, but comprehensive. Easy to walk, also for children. It involves some stairs and uphill climbing, so not wheelchair accessible. Make sure you wear good shoes and warm clothing.

Perfect place to discover. You will be really surprised while walking around here. The temperature inside is always 9 degrees. It's pretty cold outside. Thanks to our guide, we got very good information thanks to the special structures inside. Unfortunately, taking photos inside is prohibited. You should definitely see this structure, which has been shaped by thousands of years of formations. After tour, you should eat something in restaurant where located out of the cave.

Unbelievable that this stalactite cave was discovered by chance more than 100 years ago. With a guide (language: German) in a group of up to 20 people, you will take a walk of about 45 minutes through narrow corridors past beautiful spaces full of stalagmites, stalactites, limestone columns, lime curtains and so-called Sinterfahnen. The latter are very beautiful. You are not allowed to touch anything, it will damage the stones. And the guide shows you that too.
Tip 1: it is stated that you can only pay in cash, but about 10 meters past the cash register there is an information point where you can also buy tickets with your PIN.
Tip 2: it is quite chilly down in the cave, take a vest/coat with you.
Tip 3: What is a bit of a shame is that you are not allowed to take photos there. But.... if you walk at the back of the group... I'm sure you understand me. 😁 Make sure you turn off your flash.

Super beautiful, but the group was too large and the guide was barely audible (volume and pace of talking). If you don't speak German, you can understand a lot in quiet communication... Unfortunately that wasn't the case here. It did not detract from the beauty of the cave!!

I will strongly recommend to visit Atya cave if you are nearby in this area. It is not free but a fee is required and the cost is reasonable ( I believe). You cannot take pictures inside the cave. I find it difficult to describe what I saw inside except lime and the rock formation which is amazingly unbelievable. We had a guide who spoke English and he was very helpful especially because I do not understand or speak any German. You can download an app and listen to the English commentary on your phone but for my android phone it was not working so I was glad my guide spoke good English. The lime rock formation is unimaginable. The curtains formed by lime and rocks are something to be looked at. I found this establishment worthy to be looked into. Don't miss it. If you parked your car in the car park, you will get a token so you don't have to pay 3 euro for parking

It was interesting, for kids also. We had to wait 10-15 min for a group of people to gather, and then we had approx. 40 minutes excursion. Guide spoked german. There is stable temperature and high humidity inside, sometimes there were puddles on the way. But stalactites /stalagmites look impressive. Unfortunately, making photos is forbidden. There is paid car parking nearby at hotel or free parking near Lidl little bit further

One of the biggest caves in Germany! It has numerous stalagmites and stalactites and fascinating to see with experienced tour guides and special lighting. It has a constant temperature and is moist. You have to be able to go up and down a lot of steps but there are railings almost everywhere.

Prachtig! Ontzettend mooi.

We've been in caves before... but these are really special; impressive and well lighted. It's about a 1 km, 45 minute walk in small groups with a guide; timed tours so you might have to wait in the restaurant/on the terrace for a while. Temperature down there about 10c and obviously moisture.. Payments both cash and card. Only downside - however understandable - no photography inside the cave allowed.

The cave is very nice inside, however the lighting is not so good, lot of parts of the cave are quite dark. No photography allowed, not even for private use. And the guide was way too fast, you walk 50 meters, a little information, walk again, info again, etc. No time to look around other than the spots where the group stops.

That's an awesome place to visit for everyone who enjoys caves. Longest cave in Germany that features all possible stone formations. It is very easy to visit with a well build route through the cave. While they had to break some stone formations when making the cave accessibly, they still did a good job preserving the rest of the cave. The surrounding area of the Sauerland is also pleasant to visit with many beautiful sights.

Allwetterzoo Münster is a spacious zoo showcasing an African habitat for zebras and elephants, in addition to offering animal petting and penguin feeding. The exhibit is larger than the local Brooklyn zoo and features impressive spaces for animals. Ongoing construction suggests that the facilities will continue to expand, making it deserving of support for its good work.
Beautiful environment categorized and signboards to guid towards the location of animals you might be interested and also indoor and outdoor view available for animals if you couldn't catch them outside you'll find them hanging around inside, beside there is zoo shop where you can buy t shirts jewelry, toys.. and some burger and ice cream inside the zoo.

We had a brilliant day visiting here! The zoo is clean and tidy. The animals are well looked after and cared for. The staff are super friendly. There's lots of things to see and do. Lots of amazing playparks scattered around the park. We were able to feed the elephants - free of charge! And also the little parakeets. They have a few walk in enclosures, goats and lemurs. Most of the animals seemed really healthy and most enclosures were well kept. Some of the animals were a bit tricky to spot and we found ourselves searching to no avail. A better viewing location could be of use there.
I found the prices to be a bit high, but havent visited a zoo since Covid, so things might be different now.
Other than than the park was clean and suited for people with buggy s or wheelchairs. Had a nice day!

Considering the 4 star ratings I viewed here, I visited Allwetter zoo on August. The tickets charged was high because it didn't reach the expectations. They should keep location marker or provide with a map so that people don't miss any aspects and it guides more efficiently in navigating. Area is very big. Poorly maintained. Animals looked starved, unenergetic, gloomy.
Good thing, even if animals looked unhealthy, we were able to see some lions, tiger, elefant, giraffes, zebras, pandas, which seem to be rare visuals here.
Some reptiles weren't available to view or removed but placards were still posted.
Overall, it's okay to visit but dont keep high expectations.

This winter in the early but dark hours of the evening you can visit the zoo - not to watch animals - of those you could only really see pelicans, but to watch great light installations, dipped into an eerie fog.
It was a great experience and took about an hour - with all the photographing and stuff 😉
Obviously you can get food and drinks, cold and hot, at about 7 way points.
If you are in the area, I can recommend the visit, but I wouldn't drive that far, unless you REALLY like light 😅

I have mixed feelings with this Zoo. On the one hand the animals look physically healthy (maybe not mentally). However my biggest concern is the VERY SMALL space assigned even for Big animals like Rhinos, Elephants, Felines. You can see sadness in their eyes!
Iván — Google review
I really liked this zoo. The parking lot is very big so there's enough space to park your car. Another benefit are the parking- and entrance fee which aren't very high.
The zoo is quiet big and offers hours of fun! They are building something near the entrance which will be done in 2022. I'm very curious and will definitely visit the zoo once this is done.
There are various species of animals in this zoo and especially quiet a few different species of big cats. I love big cats which makes this zoo amazing! Most animals do have a good amount of space, but not all of them. For example the lions. Their habitat isn't the size it should be.
And I think that some animals habitats are a bit doll.
This zoo is also great if you have children. There are a lot of playgrounds where your children can play. There are also enough toilets throughout the whole zoo and a lot of different points where you can buy some food.
I had a great time in this zoo and that is why I would recommend it to others.

Great experience, totally worth the price. Loved how curious are orangutans. Take at least three full hours to go through it at fast pace. It has a lot more animals than what I expected. One can see they care about the animals for they put a lot of toys and activities for them. Crazy how some gorillas look like actual people. Would highly recommend!

This zoo is a lot bigger than I expected from the way that some of the locals had talked about it prior to my showing up. Based on the number of big animals here, this exhibit is larger than my local Brooklyn zoo.
I got to witness the majestic elephants eating in a moment that words cannot do justice. I was highly impressed with the spaces for the animals. I didn't even check out the souvenir spot as I was too tired after spending hours here and they have some major construction going on so I'm guessing that the spaces shall be expanding. The good work being done here deserves support!

Hardly ten minutes on foot from Prinzipalmarkt, Aasee is a 40-hectare man-made lake beginning on cusp of the old town and continuing southwest for over two kilometres.
The lakefront is cushioned by a broad band of inviting parkland, laid with lawns, trees and public art, and travelled by cyclists, joggers and strolling families.
There are restaurants and cafes at regular intervals and a raised terrace in the modern complex on the north shore, where you can also hire a pedal boat for self-navigated trip around the lake.

Incredible cathedral. It was damaged during the war and throughout the years. I like how it displays pictures of how it was look like with the damages and how it was restored and rebuilt to today’s shape. Inside the cathedral there are many chapels of which each of them shows different design and decorations. The most beautiful and impressive thing inside the church is the astronomical clock. It’s kept the original form and calendar which was built in 1600’s. It’s amazing to see how complicated the mechanical system was back then.

Awesome zoo, clear instructions, lots of clean and free bathrooms (which seems to be hard to find in Germany!😬), animals are in a good care. The zoo is pretty big so you need 2-3 hours. There’s a gift shop with lots of stuffed animals to choose from.

Beautiful Zoo, my kids love it there and you can walk around for hours. Definitely recommend to families that are living in the area or tourists!

My family and I visited Osnabrück Zoo and we were blown away by the size and variety of the animal exhibits! The zoo is massive, with something for everyone to enjoy. As a family with a 5 year old son, we found it to be an excellent choice.
We decided to purchase the year ticket, which turned out to be great value for money as we were able to visit multiple times throughout the year. The cafe was also excellent, serving up classic German fries and sausage which we thoroughly enjoyed.
There was ample parking available, which made our visit hassle-free. The sky walk was definitely the highlight of our trip - the views of the animals and surrounding area were simply breathtaking. The playgrounds were also fantastic and provided a fun and safe environment for our son to play in.
Overall, we highly recommend Osnabrück Zoo to anyone looking for a fun and educational day out. It's the perfect choice for families with young children and animal lovers alike. We can't wait to visit again!

Great day out, many animals in the enclosure-
Be sure to visit the meerkat pen and play some meerkat noises on your phone.
They are super intrigued and will all come out of hiding to take a peak!

These are my favorite animal pictures captured at the zoo in Osnabrück (Germany) on Wednessday last week! All the animals look so impressive when you watch them live their lives in the clean habitats and there are great options to satisfy your hungry and thirst too!
I visited the zoo a few times as a kid with my family and now I appreciate the animals and the great care they receive even more.
This is a must see for Zoo fanatics, I have walked for six hours in this zoo last week, visited each animals twice and enjoyed every second of it!

Amazing museum about the SS and the atrocities meted out by them. Centres around the 'Ideology and Terror of the SS'. Completely free and there's an audio guide, on request, which is invaluable if you don't read German. Very friendly staff.
The medieval castle, the only triangular castle in Germany, was still under construction, which, considering it started in 1603, is slower than the normal efficiency for Germany!
Definitely recommend as a place to visit.

The former SS head quarters in a small town. A beautiful castle built in the 13th century and used by Himmler and the SS. Alot to read and see. Very interesting history for sure. It also documents local histary dating back to early man.

Very interesting exhibits regarding the SS ideology and their practices which set the wheels in motion for European domination from the early 1930's. Castle was very intact and great to walk around in. The bad weather just added to the gloom of the castle to the surroundings

Beautiful castle. Impressive history. Staff and volunteers know so much and have a really light and fun way in presenting the history!

Good FREE museum.
The SS-part was a bit small though, it happened soo much here during ww2, but the museum reveals just a fragment of it. Why??!!
Very interesting, the museum is based more on reading and looking at short videos about the ww2-era. But after the visit, it feels like the museum doesnt reveal all that have happened on this historic site. A more ”neutral” view, would have been appriciated. And more access too the castle grounds would have made the visit even more interesting. Making a ”pillowrom” of the ss-leaders hall, was a joke.. why?? Why not show it as it once looked? That would make it more historicalCorrect. Shouldnt visitors be alowed too see the creepy truth?
The majority of all the reading in the museum is in german, ?english translation would make the visit easier for foreign visitors.
ParkingLot is Good, and there is room for large motorhomes and buses also. I could even spend the night in the moho there. Good safe parking for late arrivers, and then visit the museum early after a good nights sleep.
Not a lot in the souvenir-shop, i like too sponsor the museums i visit; but wewelsburg made it hard too find anything useful. T-shirts or a cap maybe?
I would recomend driving a couple of kilometers from the castle too get some good photos of it.

Oh my goodness it took me two trains & two buses to see this amazing castle nestled in this quaint location. The scenery along the way was amazing to say the least.
It is worth to take the transportation to see all the beauty you miss if you were driving. This castle was worth the trip!! So much jammed packed and you need a good portion of your day to take in all the history they wish to share with the world. Not only is the castle breathtaking but there is so much history on Hilter. We only read or learnt in school. Things were right before my eyes to share with family/friends when I arrived back home.
The castle is breathtaking and the courtyard is gorgeous on the hot sunny day I went to visit. Nice touch umbrellas waited in case the weather changed to walk in the courtyard.
Staff are very friendly and welcoming. Please if you get a chance go to Wewelsburg you will not be disappointed.
Sorry for the late post I was here late April 2018. This place I will not forget and have so many fotos to share. Thank you again for my experience

Heimat-Tierpark Olderdissen is a costless zoo that houses over 450 animals and birds from various species. The enclosures are well maintained, and the park offers ample seating areas for visitors to relax or have a meal. Although the assortment of animals is not extensive, it is still commendable for a free zoo. The highlight of the park appears to be the reindeer that roam around in a spacious area, adding to visitors' delight.
Perfect park to spend some time with kids and visit the wide variety of animals! The park is well preserved and the animals have a recreation of their own habitat! Free entry, and 2 EUR for all day parking fee.

The parking ground is near by and costs only 2€ for whole day parking.
The park itself is for free, but cool people drop some coins in the donations when leaving the parc!
The parc is big and very very nice and goes directly over to the forest - so you can combine the parc with nice walking/hiking.
In the parc there is a restaurant for small snack near by a cool playground for the kids.

Great animal park not like a zoo but with a hughe variety of animals. Entry is free of charge but you have to pay for parking to support the park and the food and care for the animals. We are here with the kids 2-4 times per year round about. Always worth a visit with some playgrounds for the kids and a lot of animals to see, feed and some also to touch. There are free toilets and a restaurant and also a small grill with sausages and fries. You can spend the whole day if you like. Realistic is a time of 2-4 hours depending on how interested the kids are and the weather conditions. A lot of banks for resting are also there for having a snack or picking with the whole family or only for a short rest. Interesting for all people from 1 to 100 years.

What an incredible place. Honestly one of the best zoo experiences I have ever had, and all for free!
The animals are so lively yet relaxed, compared to other zoos where they just want to sleep and stay away from the guests at all costs. As a visitor from Australia, I saw many animals that I had never seen before, right up close and personal.
The setting is amazing, great walking paths and places to sit, even without the animals it is an enjoyable place to be.
Highlight was the bear, of course. Walks over to us and sits down 3 meters away, facing us as close as he can be, practically saying hello. I still cannot believe how close he was!
What a special place, 10/10, absolutely recommend to anyone passing through the area. I will remember my visit for a long time!
Thank you

First of all, this is a free entrance zoo, so do not have high expectations or anticipate an extravagant experience. However, it was a nively kept place, lots of spaces to sit down and have something to eat, the animals were not a lot, but a good amount for a free zoo. It worth visiting for the reindeer i would say. Beautiful animals, running happy in quite a large space, really good to see

The Sparrenburg Castle is a restored medieval fort that serves as the primary tourist attraction in the city. It sits atop a hill and offers free access to its grounds, providing visitors with stunning views of the old town. Those willing to pay 2 euros can climb up its 120-step tower for more breathtaking views. However, during non-tourist seasons, visitors will only be able to enjoy the exterior of the castle. Guided underground tours are available along with a visitor center on site.
Very nice heritage experience. From top to the burg, you are definitely going to see whole Bielefeld city if you visit during good weather.

Probably the number one tourist attraction in the city is the Sparrenburg (or Sparrenberg) castle reaching high on the top of the hill above the city. You can visit the grounds for free and enjoy many views of the whole old town. If it isn't enough for you, feel free to pay 2 euro entrance fee and climb up the main tower for even more breathtaking views. If, however, you visit the hill outside the tourist season, than i have some bad news for you. Outside is all you'll get.

A nice and peaceful getaway from the city.
Parking costs a small fee but the castle can be entered for free. Climbing up the tower (that costs a small fee) results in having a great 360 view of Bielefeld and the surrounding area. The stairs in the tower are mostly wooden.
As most of the castle structure is destroyed, a guided tour (only in German i think) offers opportunity to go down below into the structure - highly recommended!
There is a restaurant and a cafe on site.

Saint Liborius Cathedral in Paderborn was founded in the 8th century, but the present building dates mainly from the 13th century. In the crypt, one of the largest in Germany, the relics of St Liborius are kept. The church was restored with Baroque additions after the Thirty Years' War, during the reign of Prince-Bishop Dietrich Adolf, and also had to be rebuilt after the bombings of the Second World War. These later additions and reconstructions did not fundamentally alter the overall appearance of the building

The mesmerising cathedral has been the site of a church since Charlemagne founded a bishopric at this very location in the 8th century.
As we see it now, Paderborn Cathedral’s architecture is both Romanesque and Gothic and was completed relatively quickly during the 13th century.
The powerful 93-metre western tower is Paderborn’s most famous image.
Despite sustaining war damage that destroyed the Medieval stained glass, the cathedral is rich with decoration and fittings.
Seek out the Paradise Portal on the southern arm of the western nave.
This entrance is from the beginning of the 1200s and abounds with French-style statues that include one of the earliest images of a standing Mary in Germany.
Also look out for the Pietà, sculpted in Hesse in 1360, an alabaster relief of the Three Kings from around that time, and the Gothic 15th-century Margarethenaltar.
Hermannsdenkmal, also known as Hermann Monument, is a famous attraction in Detmold, standing 386 meters above the city. It commemorates the Battle in the Teutoburg Forest in 9 AD when local war chief Hermann defeated the Romans. The monument offers stunning views of the surrounding area and is accessible by car with a parking fee. Visitors can explore the area, which includes a kiosk, restaurant, toilets, and a climbing park in the trees.
Beautiful big monument of Arminius, the name Arminius is germanized as Hermann, and is called Hermannsdenkmal ever since. It is a place with a beautiful long sighted view, and I recommend you to go here when you drive past.

Externsteine, located in the Teutoburg Forest, is a stunning natural site featuring dramatic 40-meter rock structures surrounded by a nature reserve. These rocks were formed around seventy million years ago during mountain formation. The site holds historical and religious significance as it was once a sacred place for pagan Saxons and later used as a hermitage in the Middle Ages. Visitors can access the area by bus or car, with parking available for a fee.
Towering rock towers carved out by erosion. The views on top are amazing. Stairs were a bit steep so do be careful, and there is a small entrance fee.

Nice place, the entry fee is not expensive, I was not able to get here in time so the booth was already closed, but I was still able to climb the most right rock. Amazing views since it had been raining that morning. Normally it’s very calm and quiet but there was a class on a school trip which kind of ruined the noise experience for me. Nonetheless, great place to visit, enough parking and not expensive, I believe 3 euros for a day.

A bunch of odd sand stone rocks standing at the side of the forest. A nice place to visit for some time Or at the time of hiking.
No shops for food nearby and parking is little far from these rocks.
A beautiful place inside the lap of mother nature is amazing. Hiking inside the forest around this place gives an amazing experience.

When visiting friends this September, we also decided to do some sightseeing and check out the Externsteine in the Teutoburg Forest. And they are really worth a visit!
You can reach the area by bus (either with the ‘Touristiklinie 792’ or the bus 782. Both start in Detmold and take you right there), or take the car as we did.
Parking cost us 4€, and if a certain need arises – the toilets there do cost 50 cent per Person, but they were really clean and well taken care of.
Then you walk up, past a restaurant, a booth selling cards & some drinks, and the shop where you can get your tickets to head up the stairs and climb the structure. Right now entrance to the top of the stones is rather limited (only groups of 10 may head up, and you’re only given 20 minutes for the climb); we, however, didn’t get up as it was raining a lot that day. Which means we definitely have to come back one day!
Walking from the parking spot to the stones doesn’t take long at all, you just head through a small forest area and then there they are!
The sandstone rock formation consists of several tall columns which are really impressive. The forest surrounding them looks also really nice, and it definitely is great if you enjoy longer walks.
The area is popular among pagans and is often used for gatherings and celebrations, especially on the summer solstice and the Walpurgis Night. But it’s also a really popular tourist sight, and although I would have preferred sunshine, the rain blessed us with fewer visitors, and so we were able to fully enjoy the scenery.

It’s beautiful place to see if you live nearby. But I wouldn’t recommend it to drive just to see this. As soon as you enter the parking, you can see the stones. There are walking routes around but nothing special to see.. tickets to the top costs 3€ but it is not worth to spend money on it.

The place is a wonderful park with the 40m high boulders dominating the small lake. Kilometers of easy hiking paths surround the rocks.
You can freely visit the park (parking fee is 4 € - if there is a ling queue at the vending machine, you find another one just at the exit of the parking lot, this can save you tons of time when leaving) without climbing the stairs to the rocks themselves (entry 3€ for adults).
Lovely trails through the woods and alongside the small lake and a large meadow to relax and picknick. 10km to the Herrmannsdenkmal, another well-known landmark. Bring your own food or visit the fine restaurant Felsenwirt near the entrance/exit. Dogs are welcome, too.

I love the saunas, I love the service. The food is OK, the drinks are nice. The general place is however looking a little outdated nowadays, could use a little freshening up with more than just LEDs. Definitely book any beauty services/massages way in advance.

So nice place. The Reseption staffs are so kind. Communication in English is ok. Indoor pools are so good. Temp 32-34 / very good thermal pools. But The massage is impossible} very early booking is necessary. And The Main tel. is busy everytime.

The best thermal baths in the region. Very relaxing. Great pool too, and even cuisine. Regular sauna infusions of a high standard. Friendly staff on reception generally, although occasionally there are some who fall below a polite standard. The staff serving food and drinks can be hit and miss. Sometimes fast and professional, other times slow and a little rude or lacking competence. I wouldn't let it spoil one's experience though. Overall, great.

Best place to go and reset your body if you do sports or alot of physical work
The Emperor William Monument is a massive structure erected in 1896 to honor the German emperor Kaiser Wilhelm. It offers panoramic views of the city and is well-preserved, making it worth visiting. A large parking area with reserved spots for wheelchair users is available, along with a kiosk selling souvenirs and coffee. The monument can be reached by a slight uphill walk of about 500 meters from the parking area and is wheelchair accessible.
Surprise in this photo ,, was taken at night time . ... love it , will be visiting there at day time #monument

A very beautiful playground plus a playground for children

Superb historic landmark. It got modernized and now has good parking, a high class, slightly expensive restaurant as well as a miniture museum. Great view to a lot of the surrounding landscape. The most recent addition is a quite extensive playground for the kids. If you want to hike, thats also quite possible. It is wheelchair accessible all around. The only tarnish is the trash and glass shards everywhere, sadly a now common sight in germany.

We stopped here as a rest place for a long journey. Free of charge to visit. The nearest car park you have to pay. Great views. I noticed this monument from the Autobahn and always wanted to visit.

Beautiful Monument which is well preserved and worth seeing!
Big parking space is available. For wheelchair users there are reserved parking places. At the parking space there is a Kiosk where you can buy Souvenirs and a cup of coffee. The monument is about a 500 meters slight uphill walk from the parking space, the monument is wheelchair accessible.
Great view over the Weser (when the weather conditions are good) is waiting for you. The monument is huge which you will realize when you are standing next to it. Recommended

An amazing place in its beauty and majesty. The monument fascinates with its power. A very beautiful panorama of the city, the river and its surroundings opens up from a height.

I've been visiting here for over 40 years and on a good clear day you can see over Minden into Lower Saxony, down into Porta Westfalica, across towards Vlotho, and with the new visitor centre, restaurant and rebuilt terrace, it is well worth a visit, just be aware parking is no longer free it was on the day of my visit 5€ for 4 hours, allowing you time to visit the monument and walk along the ridge behind the monument with great views down into Bad Oeynhausen, Kreis Herford and beyond as well as into Kreis Minden-Lübbecke on the other side. The parking machines take cash (coin) and card payments!
Even without the flowers and the palms that have been taken inside for the winter, it is a beautiful walk with many wonderful trees. Paths are wide and clean.

Looks lovely from the outside. We had no idea, as overseas tourists, that you had to pay to get in. Apparently you can get free daily access with the local tourist card (which still needs to be paid for). Entry to the park was €6 for an adult at the time of our visit. Again, as tourists, we're not sure this is good value. Perhaps the local tourism authority should review the promotion of this attraction.

For me one of the nicest parks in europe! Also very nice for Kids. 5€ entrance Fee. Good value for the Money.

Had a very nice walk around this park, lots to see, we did not have to pay to get in. Not many people about so we really did take our time. There are many banks to sit on and also enough cover should it rain or get to hit. If you should visit the park I would put aside about 2-3hours or with the kids maybe more. Nice place for a Picknick. There is also lots of Wildlife to see, Ducks, fish and so on. I think the entry fee is about 4 Euro‘s at the end of May?

Victor and Alexandra are very helpful and kind owners of the castle. In difficult times, they received refugees from Ukraine. We lived in better conditions. Victor and Alexandra helped me with everything! They helped me forget the horror of my experience. Thanks a lot! They have a very kind heart! ❤️❤️❤️

Very extensive grounds which contain the stately home and a richly decorated church both included in the ticket price.
Large car park for visitors.
In 2023 the Bundesgartenschau is being held in the grounds but this costs a little more.

Only for UNESCO enthusiasts. Really not worth 14 euros, probably less than 7 would be ok for the amount of what to see there. Don’t spend your money until you have to visit it.
Hamelin, a charming town located on the banks of the river Weser in Lower Saxony, Germany, is steeped in history and folklore. With a population of approximately 57,000 people, it serves as the capital of the district of Hamelin-Pyrmont. The town is most famous for being the setting of the enduring tale of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. Surprisingly, this well-known story was actually inspired by true events that took place in this very town.

(Translated by Google) There were six of us there, 5 children and me. The puzzles were really well done (!) and with a little help (some of them weren't as easy as expected) we solved everything 8 minutes before the end. Really cool stuff with lots of physics tricks, which ones won't be revealed; o)

(Translated by Google) It was a lot of fun, the puzzles are very well thought out, sometimes a little too much. But I think it also depends on the people who are in there.
The staff really stands out for me, we were with a young lady who was really enthusiastic about all the puzzles. I think you can't have more fun at work than she does.
I really recommend the escape in Nienburg to anyone who enjoys puzzles.

If there were difficulties, assistance was provided. Thank you for the great experience. Can only recommend it. It was also really fun for “older” people between 45 and 55 years old.
I'll try the dungeon room. I'll be back....
