Archaeological Site of Olympia, a renowned historical location situated in Greece at the base of Kronion hill and surrounded by pine trees, is recognized as the birthplace of the ancient Olympic Games. The games were held here for over 1000 years until Emperor Theodosius banned them in AD 393. Despite being destroyed by several earthquakes and orders from Theodosius II, enough remnants remain to offer visitors an idea of its past grandeur.
Magical place , full of history and ruins ,indicating importance of sport during antiquity. Man used to practice sport naked on the Olympic stadium and their winning trophy was olives leaf and head band.

With all of the history this is an interesting place to explore. It was larger than I expected but an easy level walk throughout. The stadium was impressive from its size and the overall history. The view from the upper sides near the entrance gives a good view of its scale. The museum is definitely worth the time with some important bronze works.

The site of the Olympic Game athletes in ancient Greece is packed with some of the most interesting ruins: the Temple of Zeus, the Gymnasium, the Stadium, the Temple of Hera, the column of Nike, and many others. The site was functional until 500AD and has one of the oldest catholic churches on record, built in 200AD. Tickets are better bought in advance online, and the museum hosts some of the finer findings. There are bathrooms on site. If going in summer bring water, it is dry and hot.
Eduardo Mace — Google review
Incredible location, so much history all in one place. Worth visiting the museum first and then the archaeological site to gain insight into the scale of some of the building and stories behind them. Highly recommend! And make sure you run up and down the Olympic stadium!

We were here as part of a cruise tour so didn't hit the whole site. A great sense of history here and I'd return. You can learn so much not taught in school growing up. The walk is fairly easy. Slopes are minimal but be careful on the gravel. Thank you Greece for keeping this available.

Olympia, Greece, stands as a testament to ancient athleticism and divine reverence. As one of Greece's most significant archaeological sites, it was the birthplace of the legendary Olympic Games, held to honor the mighty Zeus. We marveled at the ruins of temples and walked in the footsteps of ancient athletes, imagining the glory of past competitions. The stadium, with its impressive dimensions, echoed with the cheers of spectators and the thundering footsteps of runners. But amidst the grandeur, we were reminded of the human stories—the honor of Olympic victors, the myth of Hercules, and the temptation of poppies. Olympia is not just a site of ancient ruins; it's a window into the rich tapestry of Greek history and mythology.

Highly recommend. This site contains temples to Zeus and his wife Hera. It's very easy to walk and there's a lot to see. When I got to the stadium where the games were held during ancient times, I saw people running, as if in a competition. I decided to also run in that space where previous champions ran. There is something awe inspiring about this.

Beautiful site, so glad we made a detour to see it. Quite a drive to get here, but well worth it. Although it was hot and we arrived at 5pm, there was shade and the ground was mostly flat. There were docents everywhere but also maps and short descriptions of each section. It is an incredible feeling, standing amongst the buildings where the first Olympics were held (and also finding out it was built on the ruins of a Neolithic village). Plan to spend at least 2 hours.
Carol Demetrios — Google review
A place of immense historical and cultural significance with vast expense of ruins, remnants of grand and sacred temples and athletic facilities. The lush greenery, tall cypress trees and the nearby river creates a serene and picturesque setting for the ancient sports events.
Zongle — Google review
Amazing site to visit and see the ruins. Best to go early in the day to avoid excessive sun, the ruins have limited shade. Plenty of markers that explain the building you are in front of and where you are on the grounds. It was pretty cool to have my kids run a short sprint in the original location of the Olympic Games.
The 2 museums that accompany the ruins provide a lot of additional information.

This is one of the most impressive archeological sites that can be visited in Greece. I would recommend it to anyone traveling in Greece!
Note: the ticket for the site can also be used to visit the 2 museums around it.
Moreover, the is an official app you can download : it gives access to additional info as well as 3D rendering of what the buildings may have looked in their prime, if you want.

Stepping into Olympia is like opening a captivating book that tells tales of ancient times. Every stone, every pathway, every monument echoes with the whispers of history, painting vivid images of a bygone era. The majesty of the site is undeniable, offering a rare glimpse into the heart of ancient Greek civilization. As you wander through its expansive grounds, you don’t just see history – you feel it, palpable in the air, resonating with legends of gods and heroes. A visit to Olympia isn’t just an exploration, it’s a journey back in time. For those curious souls seeking a profound connection with the past and a deeper understanding of humanity’s rich tapestry, Olympia awaits with its timeless allure. Highly recommended for history enthusiasts and dreamers alike.

Wow. The sheer history of this site fills me with awe. The signage is good and explains the ruins well. There are toilets that can be accessed from within the site. It was fabulous to see the archaeologists working. The ground can be uneven and there are a few steps to negotiate.

First Olympics was here 3000~ years ago. Earthquakes and time have damaged much of it. But there's still so much to see and the restoration that has been done is incredible

What an amazing feeling, being to the place where the Olympic idea started, thousands of years before. Beautiful scenery, blended with ancient columns and ruins. The track were ancient athletes run is intact and gives you the chills! People run all over it, trying to get the vibes!! Definitely recommend this place for a visit!!

It's beautiful and moving to see the stade.
The site is quite large and perfect to wander around.
The museum is gorgeous.
The kids liked it as they could run in the site and enjoy the outdoor. I give 4 stars as it is a site has a lot of the monuments down so maybe less spectacular than others.

This is a must-see. The ancent ruins are very accessible and easy to view. Much more than the Acropolis in Athens. By this I mean, you could get closer to them and really have a good idea of the huge size of these temples.
We had a professional guide (I would highly recommend) as he was able to tell us about how the original Olympic Games were run. They were not every year but when a battle needed to be celebrated. There are many different temples and structures to see.

Recommend for a nice excursion. Wonderful museum and site. We did visit first thing, which was lovely for the crowds as well as the heat. It is a big site and so may take hours. Hot in the summer. Wonderful for the family. We did hire a local guide which made the experience just wonderful.

Interesting historical place where the first Olympics took place.
There is restoration work taking place also uncovering more history.
You would need a good couple of hours at least to have a walk around plus time for the museum too.
It's worth a visit if you get a chance as it's a unique piece of history.

A must visit when going to Greece.
It boggles the mind how this amazing site was lost in history for so long. Loved the boards that provided the context and story. This is the best site we have visited for clear stories and backgrounds information.

Our favorite archeological site we visited in Greece. In offseason they close at 3:30 so would recommend arriving early as you can spend 3-5 hours here easily. We even went back a second day to just read on the grass.

I wanted to visit the original Olympic site for a long time. So I was very excited when I finally stood in front of the Ancient site of Olympia.
We can walk through most of the ruins, and some of them have a steel rope circling. I hope people will notice that they shouldn’t walk inside. However, some people are still walking inside the circled area!
The site is massive. All the ruins are there with information displayed in front of them. I loved the Ancient site of Olympia. I hope people will remember not to cause damage to the ruins.

This is so exquisite! We got our money worth a thousand times! In the winter the entrance is only 6 euros pp, site and 2 museums included! If I understand well the price goes up this year to 24E,in the summer. I was there between Christmas and New year, and it was super quiet.. In the summer it must be crazy.. You have to reserve a time slot then!

Such an amazing museum. I loved every details and sculptures here. It was a bit crowdy when we came, but we had no wait to get our tickets. The museum isn't very big but has very important pieces. Lovely Olympia.

Great place of some awesome history. Our children were in awe that they had arrived at the sight of the original Olympics. They really enjoyed running in the original stadium area. Was also cool to see the Zeus temple. You can see the sheer size of it!
John Russell-Smith (FamilyRussell-SmithTravel) — Google review
Great experience because of the virtual reality glasses from Olympia back in time! Too bad the glasses were not right next to the site but it was only a 10 minute walk away and definitely something to rent to make it more than just stones! Kids enjoyed racing at the stadium and mostly the virtual reality.
One thing to note, if you want to visit the museum first then you need to get tickets from the museum. If you would like to visit the site first, then tickets at the site. We went to the site but wanted to visit the museum and there was a bit of discussion and we needed to refund the tickets and get new ones.
Corinth is a historic city in south-central Greece and the capital of Corinthia. It was once a municipality but has since become part of another larger one. The city is known for its ancient ruins, including the 6th century BC Temple of Apollo, Fountain of Peirene, and Agora where Paul's trial by Gallio took place. It was here that Paul lived and worked as a tent maker while teaching about God for 18 months.

The Folies Corfu Hotel Apartments offers guests a laid-back oasis in the heart of the city. With gardens and a seasonal outdoor pool, guests can spend relaxing moments in tranquil surroundings. The apartments are based on traditional Corfiot architecture and offer stylish and comfortable accommodation.
I recently stayed at Folies Hotel in Corfu and I must say, it was a truly fantastic experience. The rooms were incredibly spacious, clean and comfortable, making me feel right at home. The owners were also incredibly kind and accommodating, always willing to help and offer recommendations. But perhaps my favorite part was the beautiful pool - the perfect place to relax and soak up the sun. Overall, I highly recommend Folies Hotel and can't wait to return!

Charlie Camburn — Google review
We stayed in the hotel for 7 nights. We were lucky to be in the new part of the buildings, which were really nice, with a terrace, spacious room. and view on the small pond. The room service cleaned our apartment every 2 days, including the change of towels and blankets. The position of the hotel was good for visiting other locations and beaches, as there were enough car parks available. The garden was well maintained :)
However, there are some things which could be improved:
- The service at the reception could be a bit more informative about what to visit.
- The kitchen appliance is missing, like an oven, toaster and spoon for cooking.
- The pool itself was not clean enough and some spotlights are literally digging in the pool (see pictures). The sunbeds were mainly broken or in a bad state. The pool towels which were promised on the booking platform were not provided.
- It was cool, that the hotel had a bar service but the prices were too high and it closed too early, since there were not so many bars in the surroundings.
All in all we enjoyed our stay there and hope that the staff will work on our suggestions! :)

So so. Good enough to have a place to lay your head down but is not close to anything, if you are walking. I booked one night here to visit Old Town and had a flight out in the morning. Neither are close. It was 10€ to Old Town and 15€ to the airport by taxi (5 min rides) but are difficult to get for short distances in Corfu. The hotel staff were helpful but the hospitality felt sterile. Imagine interacting with an airline customer service agent. Nothing memorable to write home about.

The service was great, everyone was kind, but the rooms were really cold and dimly lit. The heaters in our rooms didn't work. We asked for help, and they sent someone who tried to fix it, but it was still cold. They gave us a key to a different room, but that room's heat also didn't work well. In addition, We had 3 minutes of hot water in the shower. Afterwards, anyone who wanted to shower had to use lukewarm water.
We chose to stay there because of its adjacency to the ferry in the morning to mainland Greece and the cheap price, but we probably would not go back due to the heating problem.

Good stay for family but a bit off the city.
The rooms are comfortable with a kitchen (we have not tried it), and the pool is very enjoyable (the bar is overpriced, 6€ for 2 untasty coffees, I would recommend having breakfast elsewhere).
Service is poor, the bathroom was dirty with stains on the WC, when we reported it to staff they did not apologize. No help with luggage was offered when we were shown the room.

Nice hotel with pool and very clean interior. The room was with some minor problems, smoke smell, broken door, no kitchen towel. More major problem was that the sofa bed in the living room was broken, the boards kept falling out. In the end disappointing

Caution! Don't book!!
UPDATE:
Why the staff in your review reply are trying to portray you as a liar should put you off booking!
There are witnesses to the whole incident, the ID was not forgotten. The guests' passports are systematically retained.
It's really sad how you're dealing with being busted instead of just apologizing and handing over the passport! But no, they lie, yell on the phone and threaten me to delete the review immediately. All this is very striking and sad.
Your hotel is highly unprofessional, dangerous and steals data! Plus don't forget the countless bugs in your rooms.
If you want to have a nice and above all safe time in Corfu, you should avoid this hotel!
Frist Review:
The staff will confiscate your passport at check-in (which is illegal). The Passport never be forgotten by us! We announced our check-out again the night before, but the reception was unmanned in the morning. The passport was not issued! Now the hotel does not want to send the passport and illegally keep it! Absolutely not trustworthy!
it cannot be ruled out that the personal sensitive data will be misused by the hotel.
Otherwise they would simply forward them accordingly!

Hotel not recommended! Arriving on August 9, 2023, I immediately noticed some inefficiencies in the toilets. Specifically (as documented by the attached photos) absence of glass in the shower cubicle, defect of the shower head and floor drain completely raised and easily movable. I immediately requested a change of apartment but it was not granted to me and so I requested immediately and also in the following days the resolution of the problems exposed but they did not proceed. These problems caused, during the shower, water to leak from the shower itself and from the floor drain; water that inevitably settled all over the bathroom floor. In addition, the cleaning of the apartment did not take place regularly every day but only after urging the staff. On August 16, 2023, leaving the facility, I spoke to one of the managers asking for a small refund for the inefficiencies, I waited for a response from them for days, contacting them several times on the phone but to no avail. At this point I reported everything to the booking customer service and through them I learned that my refund request had been refused. Shame!
I respond to your comment, adding the following to my review:
Do you dare to answer like this? Who do you think you're kidding? You have not solved any problem, as shown by the attached photos, taken in the days following our arrival; if I had been satisfied at the end of my stay I certainly would not have asked your manager Petros for a refund for the inefficiencies. At least have the decency not to make fun of tourists with these answers.

I don’t recommend the hotel. The room was nice, but there was a problem with toilette and there was a stinky smell coming out from it. I asked to do something about it and the staff didn’t react. It’s a lot of noise from the airport, but that okay. It’s nearby. I asked for check out 1 hour later and I was told not possible. Although the hotel is not fully booked and it’s end of the season. I won’t come back.

This hotel is beautiful. A nice pool, the staff are just so friendly and kind, accommodating! I actually booked 1 night here last minute to escape an awful hotel I had been staying in. Check in for Folies is usually 3pm but they so kindly check us in at 12pm. The bar wasn’t open but it is early May not quite in season. The room was modern, clean, comfortable and just perfect! Truly grateful to have found this hotel after a few days of unpleasant stays elsewhere. Would 100% recommend this place.

DO NOT BOOK HERE.
Update: When the staff in your review reply are trying to portray you as a liar should put you off booking!
Unprofessional.
I booked for 3 nights at this hotel. To sum up: terrible it was a nightmare. We had several problem in a more than antique room. No solution from the reception. Moreover and the worst, they are allegedly lying to us saying that they are going to change the room and when we arrive it’s not possible anymore. The “manager” said that we can have a refund when we ask for the refund they said “we are going to call the police”. They went that far to call the police on us when we are 3 girls just asking to be treated with respect and according to the money we pay. We also in defense had to call the police because they dragged us outside of the hotel and we were treated so badly, I have never experience that in my life. Do not come here because you’ll be treating really badly and they are so many nice people in the island of Corfu but not at Folies.
Bad services: terrible room not look like the pictures. The AC working bad and water on the floor. Room smell humidity and mod. Kitchen dirty and so ancient. WC not flushing. A lot of insects in the room. WIFI not working not even 4g. The pool is dirty. The toilets of the pool are dirty. The sun beds are all broken.

We stayed there for 2 weeks. The rooms, whole settlement and the people are very nice. The bar/cafe is not good enough when compared to the other nice stuff. We rented a car and visited beaches all around, which was easy considering the location of the hotel. You can stay there without hesitation. Ps: you need to do sth about that rooster, it is not ok to yell at 5 am every time :)

We stayed in one of the apartments the first 3 nights. They are super old and in need of tlc!
Lots of ants, shower didnt have a rail, aircon leaking etc.
We moved to one of the new rooms for last 3 nights. This was because the same apartment wasnt available the entire stay the studio was much better! Nice, clean modern. Although there was construction work out back making a noise from 8/9am. It sounded like they were in the room it was do bad! Not great ...
The apartments are outside old town but we found the public buses reliable ( although the seem to move to hourly later in day). Its not easy to get to the nicer beaches via public transport so to stay here you probably need a car or just stay near the other beaches. It is close to the airport though which is a bonus. Limited restaurants near by but there are supermarkets and bakery
Has a pool - nothing fancy! No umbrellas to shade from sun and lots of broken loungers. Pool bar defo wasnt 24/7, served limited food and the guy manning it was miserable.
Katie Cockburn — Google review
Very nice and clean apartment. Well designed with 2 balconies. The territory and the pool are inundated with green, flowers, trees and grass. 🌸 There is a bar next to the pool were you can order drinks and food. 🌅 The position of the hotel is 10 min in bus from old town. 1,5 km from bus station, 2 km from airport, but…. There is only a bus line that deserves that area. Buses 1 in an hour. ‼️ Very difficult to go to the airport or bus station. You should always call a taxi!

It's a sandy paradise. Basically, two beaches that meet and create big sandy hills. Really nice and clean waters, and you might notice the sand being pink from the sun reflection. It's an easy road to go just 10 minutes from the port, and you should definitely have an umbrella and plenty of sunscreen. Weekdays in June is relatively empty for its size and you will enjoy it to the fullest. Also great for kids.

The Caves of Diros are a historic attraction with impressive formations such as stalactites and stalagmites. The caves were carved out of limestone by the underground river Vlychada, which flows slowly towards the sea. Visitors can take short boat cruises to view these formations and then explore the pedestrian part of the cave at their own pace. COVID-19 precautions require either a vaccine passport or rapid testing, both available locally. Restrooms and a café/shop are located near the entrance.
I went there when they only had 300m of travel time because the water had risen. My Greek friend told me that when it's lower you can go further and it's spectacular! And let me tell you it is... When we got into the boat all of the lights went out in our cave space. I was situated in such a position as to where I could take a photo of the space beyond, that was lit... It was so eerie that the people around me needed to fill the silence with their voices. I, however chose to be silent and set the stage for presence in a random situation... Imagine stillness in almost absolute darkness. It's hard to recreate. Although the tour was shorter than usual, take advantage if this situation arises because no amount of money is worth the experience... Live your life and know that everything is working in your favor. Sometimes the lights go out unexpectedly... You can choose fear or you can choose presence.

Quite an amazing place, the first part of the cave is done by boat or should I say a long canoe. Sadly the day we came we were told that the water level was very high so only a small portion the cave could be visited on water.
Nevertheless we had a great time, and can agree that the Diros Caves are among the most significant natural sites in Greece, truly spectacular. I understand the caves formed hundreds of thousands of years ago and that the stalactites and stalagmites that are now underwater were formed when the sea level was much lower than it currently is.
The temperature is much cooler in the caves, especially in the water section rather than the land part of the caves, so if you're feeling cold easily, taking a cardigan or jumper might be a good idea.
Frederic Demay — Google review
What an amazing cave! Especially what makes it more fun and interesting is going by boat. Just watch your head on the Stalactites. The only reason I'm not giving 5 starts is because we weren't able to do the walking part of the cave because apparently it was being cleaned 😕, even though we payed for it and no one told us anything about it being closed until the end. Still we are lucky to come on a day when it's open. Just make sure you try to call them before going to make sure its open, because if the water level is too high they can't do the tour.
Godfrey Oguike — Google review
We did the small slope due to Covid regulations. Totally worth it. We had a boat ride and also a walk through the caves to the exit. Pictures and videos don't do the trick. Its better to see for yourself.

This is so amazing! 1,2 km long boat ride trough tunnels , with crazy good stalactites and stalagmites. The only minus is that boat "driver" doesn't share any info about the cave. It would be good if they could give a little bit of info, sbout cave itself, history, geology etc. There is a parking on the top of the site, which requires short walk downhill (or uphill on return), and also parking right next to caves entrance, but it's usually full. The biat is slippery, so it would be good to wear proper shoes. Last 300m you should go on foot and it's still amazing place to be. If you are in Peloponnese, you should visit this wonder of nature.

Amazing caves, definitely a must see experience! Queue was a little long when we went (on a Saturday) but moved pretty quickly. Boat ride through the caves is great! Unfortunately, the tour guide didn’t say any information in English, only in Greek. Would be better if they did. May have to suck in some moments!

These really are fantastic caves: I don't think I've ever seen such impressive stalactites/stalagmites. The boat ride is quite short but atmospheric, and then you can wander at your own pace through the pedestrian part of the cave. Take your time and enjoy the amazing formations. Useful info - they require a Covid passport or a rapid test (the chemist back up the road in Pyrgos Dirou did one for our teenage son: very quick and only €10) and once you've bought your tickets I'd drive down to the entrance where there are toilets and a cafe/shop.

Beautiful caves, amazing sea views and beaches just around the corner.
On 21/08/2022, the cave tour was shortened due to a rise of the water level. The ticket price was reduced.
During busy periods, it is better to reserve tickets.
Roeland Lacroix — Google review
The caves itself are amazingly beautiful. We went early on a Sunday and we reserved tickets ahead of time so there was no wait. The tour itself feels very rushed, there is no time to stop and enjoy it, everything flew by. Probably because it was busy and they were trying to fit as many people in as they could.
Thomas Teerlink — Google review
These aren't just your ordinary caves. The first part is traveled in a canoe. Traveling by boat makes experiencing caves way more fun than just on foot! Just make sure to tuck your head in every once in a while, or you'll hit your head!
Yarrin Verbueken — Google review
Fabulous caves. They don't tell you so mind your heads and make sure you don't leave behind your car keys in the boat. Turn up before 9.30am to avoid the crowds/a long wait. No need to book in advance if you arrive early. You can park on the road past the ticket office on the way down to the caves themselves.
Deep Sandhu — Google review
Lovely. It's worth it. But buy tickets online to avoid driving there and having to come back the next day. Boat ride a bit rushed and commentary just in Greek, and still with little information about geological or anthropological history. It seems to have been privatised in the last three years, so a bit profit oriented.
Elektra Spathopoulos — Google review
Only the short tour was available but we enjoyed it even though it only took about 20 minutes. Cool boat ride and the guy paddling have us some information. The caves were cool and worth a visit, my family (wife and two teenage girls) all said it was worth the stop. We visited the beginning of April so I imagine it gets much busier as the tourist season progresses.

Amazing awesomeness of Yours truly, The Nature. I was left speechless by the natural formations... I definitely recommend a visit to the Vlychada caves.

A must if you are near. One of the most breathtaking caves we have experienced. While the tour was in Greek, a couple later translated and it was astounding to hear how saber tooth tigers, hippos and per-historic men lived in the cave.

Visited the caves in January, so just us in the boat, beautiful caves with stalagmites and stalactites, would recommend visiting if you're in the area.

Flanked by lush greenery, this quaint beach features a small sandy beach & clear turquoise waters.
It's a lovely place. The water is perfectly clear and while snorkelling you can observe many different fishes. There's a lot of natural shade from the trees - it's definitely the most beautiful beach on Poros. Shower, changing room, clean toilets: Best facilities we've had at a beach.
But it's crowded: We were there in June and had to be there early (before 11am) to get the last free set of sunbeds - price was 12€ per set which is normal on Poros. There's not much space to sit without one, so in the end you will probably have to pay to use this beach. Service staff is friendly, although we didn't eat or drink something.
Diana — Google review
Nice little beach with catch name. The waters look nice from above, but when you get in, you'll realize they are pretty muddy. OK for 1 time but it wouldn't be my favorite beach. The beach bar offer some sunbeds but at full season it's very very crowded.
Konstantinos Barlas — Google review
Amazing beach, beautiful as you can see in pics. Should be plastic free, but they provide every drink with straw and lid in plastic cup. Food is really average, dont recommend it. But nice friendly staff. Overall i really liked the beach, but could be improved.

The bay is good and natural. You can reach from the center to Neoris by boat and walk to this bay for about 5 minutes. But the sea is not the best. It gets blurry because of the sand after a while.
F. Duygu Bora — Google review
I was a bit disappointed. The beach is a bit dirty and there aren't as many trees as you see in the pictures

Beautiful setting, clean waters and good prices.
The only thing I would criticize is 15€ charge for the set of loungers. A little steep but if you are going to stay for a few hours, it is fine.
Definitely recommend

It was my long walk on New Year's day, came all the way from the port that's downtown Poros & it was absolutely stunning! No wonder it's crowded in the summer, there were others enjoing a little picnic on the same day, such a quiet lovely place with crystal clear waters, looking forward to visiting again in the summer!
Dimitra Kalli — Google review
It is a petite cute beach that is excellent for quiet relaxing time. The bay is surrounded by deep vegetation which ensured its privacy. That is how the name came. It is very popular with couples or even people who prefers quiet calm environment. The water is sea green, clear. The sand is a little red to brown but sandy. The bay water is also calm enough, making it a perfect place for holidays and romantic outings. A narrow road surrounds the bay, but there is not much traffic in it. The bay has shower and drinking facilities.
Muhammad Mahfuzur Rahman — Google review
One of the most idyllic beaches in Poros. You can get coffee and sunbeds and enjoy the view. Unfortunately on the day we visited the waves had brought some sort of industrial foam probably from the many yachts that roam on the waters. The sea did still look clean but we did not risk going in. It could have been a single event who knows but the locals told us that the sea is not that clean there due to its geographical location and the yacht season. Still a must see though.
Zeynep Nihal Ozarslan Eleftheriou — Google review
A very good beach, if you're into beach bars that is. It's surrounded by beautiful nature and has plenty of shade even at noon. However the sunbeds occupy most of the space and there is little space for those who wish to sit on their own.
Eleni Pasiakou — Google review
❤ The best little beach on Poros ❤
A short hop and jump from Poros town ( 3.3 km ) you'll find Love Bay. It's a small and very cosy beach that will help you unwind and calm down from the every day hustle and bustle.
Here you will find a few hundered sunbeds with umbrellas, a changing room, his and hers toilets and a fully stocked bar serving sandwiches, soft drinks, ice creams, beers and drinks . And did I mention the very friendly staff 👍👍👍
The bay itself deserves 5 stars. The water is bright green and blue and really fresh. And they play soothing music from the loudspeakers to help you relax🎶
Whats not to love about this place❤❤❤

A very nice and cozy small beach with nice waters. A small canteen offers coffee etc and there is plenty of shadow from the trees. One of the best beaches of the island.
The ruined Doric temple, constructed around 5th-century BC, was dedicated to the Ancient goddess Aphaia. The remarkably preserved remains of this temple are located on a hill covered in pine trees providing an extensive view of the Saronic Gulf. The structure was built in honor of a local deity from a pre-Hellenic era and featured magnificent sculptures depicting the Trojan War on its pediments.
I never get tired of visiting the Temple of Aphaia, one of Aegina island's must see unique attraction that is situated on a hill ... with beautiful views & lots of pine trees ... about 15 km from the islands capital. 👍😊
Since prehistoric times ( 1300 B.C.) it's been a place of worship ... a sanctuary dedicated to the goddess Aphaia.😍
Next to the temple there is a small archeological museum, the Museum of Aphaia, where parts of the temple are on display. Across from the Temple you will see a simple cafeteria where I've enjoyed some beverages ... that was nice: especially if you are visiting on a hot summer day!
Karitas Mitrogogos — Google review
The temple is quite well preserved. You have to pay an entrance fee of 6 euros per person. It is fenced and maintained. It was located on a higher hill overlooking the sea. The scenery is amazing. The temple is in the style of the Panthenon in Athens.
Cristian Postolache — Google review
Stunning views and temple, really well conserved and easy to reach by motorbike or car (there is no option to reach it without them). The price is 6€/person, one of the best places to visit in Argina

Very calm compared with the Athens monuments.. and not much crowded either. Rent a scooter or car, cross through the island and enjoy it.. Overall a nice experience!
Sundar Ganesan — Google review
Must visit. Not very crowded, it’s a very well preserved temple, one of the most important ones in this part of Greece too. They had both the Parthenon and Sounion in sight so those three temples used to communicate with each other visually, even though they are dozens of km from each other!
Also - visit the cafe for a coffee - they serve a surprisingly good one and the view is stunning!

This place is like a miniature Acropolis. You pay 3 euros for a ticket here, and in the off-season you can basically wander around on your own. A beautiful view complemented by a piece of history. Below is a parking lot with a small shop and a restaurant with a beautiful view.

One of the most impressive temples still standing in Greece. The view makes it spectacular
Romain F. — Google review
Took the bus tour. It's a long way from the port to the temple. The tour guide did a nice job explaining other places along the way to the temple. The temple is a short walk from the temple parking lot. Once again, the tour guide did a good job explaining the history of the site.

This monument is well preserved and maintained. It’s hard to believe that this temple was from 500 BC.
Most of its pillars, structures, inner and outer features are still standing.
There’s a shop and cafe close to archeological site you can buy drinks, light finger foods and souvenirs there.
The shopping mini complex also has a restroom open to everyone.
Parking here is by the side of the road so it is limited.
Chukwuemeka Chima — Google review
This temple is pretty well preserved on the Greek island of Aegina. Or at least as much as anything can be at 2000+ years old. The temple is at the top of a mountain, surrounded by a fence and normally cost 6 eu to enter, but ous was already covered. Anyway you can see some real dedication with people quarrying these enormous stones and then of course dragging them up to the top of the highest mountain around. Anyway it's a beautiful site.
Rick Adkins — Google review
Not just another Greek historical site, because even if these places may look alike, each is unique in it's own way and has it's own history worth discovered.

Beautiful and very quiet place with breathtaking view on Saronic Gulf, Salamis Island, Piraeus and even Athens.

The view is simply amazing and the temple well preserved 📟

Very beautiful temple ruins / archaeological site, and the hilltop view of the sea makes the visit pretty satisfying. You can see Agia Marina from this height, since the temple is high up on a slope.
Pretty accessible by bus (though it can be quite infrequent). Alternatively, there is taxi or car rental which can make this place much more easy to reach.

Such a lovely experience with my family. Lots of great information and very informative 👍🏻 not very expensive and really beautiful! The views are amazing.
The amphitheater at the Asclepieion of Epidaurus, constructed in 340 BCE and made from limestone, is one of the best-preserved Classical Greek structures still standing. It boasts exceptional acoustics; even a dropped coin in its centre can be heard from the highest seat. The theatre accommodates up to 14,000 individuals and features restored Corinthian pilasters flanking its entrance.
This is definitely worth the drive from Athens. In fact, the drive was one of the highlights. The scenery along the way is beautiful. The theater itself is impressive and so are the surrounding ruins. You can see that there have been attempts to reconstruct some of the buildings but it doesn't look like any progress has been made in some time.
Andrew — Google review
Incredible site. Larger in size than Ancient Mycenae, and the restored theater is fabulous. Stroll the full grounds to see layers of history. Good signage with descriptions in both Greek and English. The small Museum is also worth a look. They have the only (?) fully preserved capital of a pillar on display there.
Andy Shaw — Google review
Fantastic and so well-preserved. If you are able, climb to the top and sit in the shade of the trees. It is cool, quiet (though this was in late May, not sure how it would be in high season) and you really get to experience how fantastic the acoustics are, as you can hear so much of what is said at the bottom. Museum and ruins are worth a visit too; on the same site and included in ticket price.
Lynn Trillo — Google review
It is difficult to believe such a well designed was built in the 4th century BC. The sound quality is amazing, so easy to hear from the top. This is a treasure.
The museum is not really worth the time. The hospital is also a site that needs guidance to paint the picture. If you are short on time, head to the amphitheatre.
Rhicke Jennings — Google review
It has natural fantastic acoustics. If you come in a group, split in two. One satying in orchestra ring at the bottom an other half i a top row to feel it. And bear in mind how long ago it was built.
Tomek Ikea — Google review
It is a marvel of ancient engineering and artistic achievement. With its impeccable acoustics and stunning architecture, it offers an unparalleled theatrical experience that transports visitors back in time. Surrounded by lush greenery and steeped in history, this magnificent amphitheater is not only a testament to the ingenuity of the ancient Greeks but also a source of inspiration and awe for all who have the privilege of witnessing its splendor. A visit to this historic site promises to be an unforgettable journey into the heart of classical Greece, where the arts flourished and the spirit of innovation thrived.

What a great view. This place is amazing. Can't believe over 2400 years old. Take time to walk up and admire the view from atop. The acoustics are so good. One can stand at center and be heard from the last row.

Pretty surprising this place is still being used today. Especially since it was built in the 4th Century BC. The acoustics are amazing and Tara spoke in a normal tone of voice and I could hear her on the top row. There's also a pretty good museum on site.
Rick Adkins — Google review
Initially lots of antique rocks, but when you visit it you stay speechless, because it's huge and the way it's built gives very good acoustic even to the highest row of the amphitheatre. There's good infrastructure for parking and good tables with information.

The stadium was built over 2400 years ago, but it is very well maintained. I sit at the top of the stadium and can hear people talking and laughing around the keystone and inside the circle. Try clapping your hands as you walk around different parts of the circle. The sound effect is amazing.

Excellent place. Easy spent a couple of hours around the site as its quite large. We spent most of our time at the ancient theatre. Very well preserved and looked after. Great sat at the top looking down on the stage imagining being there 2500 years ago!

The acoustics are excellent. This is one of the few remaining ancient amphitheaters in existence and probably the best preserved.
If you are lucky and get to watch a performance there, you will feel the magical atmosphere, as you make the time travel thousands of years ago.
A must see in this area
From Athens is a 2 hour drive, my recommendation is after this experience to go to Nafplio, it’s a 45 minute drive from there.
It’s enchanting, worth staying one or two days there also.

Fascinating ancient amphitheater that has the best acoustics in the world which are still not fully understood - limestone, channels in seating, positioning in the hillside, other contributing factors… plus the site still hosts live theater & music every summer! It’s fun to try it out yourself; stand in the center of the stage and whisper a message- it will be heard clearly at the top row. Added bonus is the small but interesting museum with artifacts found on the site including a World Heritage site of ancient medicine.

Acoustics in this Greek theatre great. Marble steps a bit slippery when wet. Very rich in history

The theatre as an archaeological site is definitely worth the traveler’s attention. A magnificent piece of architecture and acoustics still holds performances in the summer. The museum is small but you can get all the information needed to understand the function of the site as a whole.
Apart from the theatre there was a complex with various buildings, including temples and sanctuaries, dorms, baths, a stadium and of course the temple of Asclepius where people received treatment through the process of enkoimesis.
You can also enjoy the nature around the site with all its peace and tranquility.
There is a museum shop and a cafe as well.
S Gk — Google review
We came here just for the theatre but had a fantastic time with the museum and site of the sanctuary of Asclepius too. The theatre's acoustic is remarkable and as excellent as everyone says. It's an experience unlike any other. The museum is small, but packed with interesting items for the history of medicine and close views of some architectural sculpture. The site of the sanctuary of Asclepius has some great way finding signage. The billboards for the individual buildings are not very well designed for non-experts, but the chance to wander through some ancient ruins was excellent. We were charged 12 euros for the whole visit, which is pricier than other local sites but well worth it in my opinion.
Sam Hayes — Google review
A huge place to visit, with ample parking spaces. However, the toilets ran out of paper. Bring your own!

The acoustics are amazing and we look forward to coming back in the summer to watch a live performance. The walk to the theatre was pretty in the spring with all the sweet wildflowers and meadow like scenery to the top (we didn’t take the stairs).

Like any Greek theater, this place is magnificent. This is of course my first visit to Greece and this stopover was worth it. Despite the large number of tourists visiting this place, entry is smooth. No more than 5 minutes to get the entrance ticket (it's in October so that's understandable). In 1h30, you can visit the theater and the archaeological site. It's truly magnificent, you go back in time in the blink of an eye. If you go to Greece, take a trip to Epidavros, a calm and quiet town, especially the ancient town.
This imposing Venetian-built fortress is a popular tourist destination with amazing views of the Argolic Gulf. It was used as a fortress and prison by successive rulers, but is now one of the town's main attractions with its iconic interlocking bastions that you can walk along. The fortress can be reached either by steep ascent on foot or a short drive from the town.
Visited early on a February morning (8:30) open time and there were only a couple of other people in the whole complex.
Admission is 4.50 winter
We drove up but you can also climb about 900 stairs to the top.
Great views of Nafplio and the super yacht Maltese Falcon.

If you are visiting Nafplio, I wouldn't miss visiting the Fortress. My girlfriend, our 12 year old daughter and I were here and spent roughly 3 hours exploring and we had a very nice and tiring time. Be prepared to duck, crouch and thoroughly enjoy yourself. Beautiful surroundings and it wasn't crowded at all.

Visited March 31st. The spring has bloomed. Flowers everywhere. Purple and red colors. The climb to the top was difficult since my sister and myself are not the fittest people on earth. But the climb was WORTH IT. Views are to die for. Highly recommend. Tickets are €4 up until March 31st and after that beginning April 1st they are €8. Pricey tickets but worth it. We were tired by the time we climbed up so we took a taxi back down to our hotel. Taxi costs €10.

This venetian fortress is a very nice place to explore. You can access it by car or by foot, but be aware that if you want to go by foot, be prepared to climb 999 stairs (this is the local saying, I would say that is even more 😅). The view from the stairs is amazing

🏰 Fortress of Palamidi 🌄
What an awe-inspiring fortress! The Fortress of Palamidi perched high above Nafplio offers breathtaking views of the town and the sea. Its impressive architecture and historical significance make it a must-visit destination for history buffs like myself. The climb up the steep steps was well worth the effort as I explored the various bastions and enjoyed the panoramic vistas. The rich history and well-preserved structure make this place a captivating experience. If you're in Nafplio, don't miss the opportunity to immerse yourself in this magnificent piece of Greek history. Highly recommended!
Gabe Buckner — Google review
Palamidi is an impressive fort above Nafplio with outstanding views. Be aware that it's around 1000 steps(!) to the very top up the stairway. It's quite expensive to get in though, the ticket office is at the top and it's E8 per person (kids under 18 free, and also discounts for 18-25s from EU countries). There's a prison cell and a small church at the top, along with a small cafe and toilets. Worth it for the views, but only just. If you want to save some cash you can just hike 2/3 of the way up the stairs and enjoy the view... But do it before midday when the sun starts shining on the stairway...

A large fortress on top of the highest point in the area, with fantastic and commanding views of the whole area. It gets very busy at weekends, especially just after the schools break up. You have to be physically able to attempt the climb up the stairs. The alternative is the road entrance although parking is limited.

A very well preserved fortress from the 17th century accessible by walk but I would recommend taxi. You need at least 2 hours to walk around. Splendid view on the town of Navplio below.

This great archeological sight showcases both great architecture and the jail cell of a man who participated in the Greek war for independence. It's a great place to visit if you are staying in Nafplio. I spent quite a long time here, looking at every crevice and the picturesque view. It would have been quite a great idea to explain the cell and the general fortress in a better way. For example to show the history of it and the events that took place there. Sure there were some signs but they did not specify anything.

A more recent fortress than all the other archeological sites nearby. It has nice views and is well maintained. Not sure how crowded it is in a more touristic season, but when we went in January it was ideal.

We did NOT walk the stairs! Used the parking lot ( 😊). Very interesting spot to visit, great views as well. Make sure to visit the cell ( maybe not if you’re claustrophobic ).

Walking the 950+ stairs is a challenge and dangerous in parts. But the rewards are many with an ice cold water fountain at the ticket booth and some stunning views. The site itself is brilliant. Very large and again some very dangerous areas where you could plunge to your death but with care and being sensible, climbing over this structure and reading its history is brilliant.

Amazing place of history. An expansive site. Views to die for. We arrived by car. Not a lot of parking available but lucky it was the off season (early October). I did notice that there was a open top hop on hop off bus that probably came from Napflion. Would probably be the best option in peak season instead of the 99 steps or drive.
Lynette Blackburn-Leary — Google review
Nice hike (steps) to the rear gate of the fortress (fortress closed after hours) with a gorgeous view of the promontory, Nafplio's old town. The sunset is breath taking!

The Ancient Mycenae is an ancient Greek archaeological site that dates back to the 12th century BC. It is located in the barren foothills of Mt Agios Ilias and Mt Zara, and it includes remains of an acropolis, palace, and tomb. This kingdom was a dominant force in Greece for over 400 years (1600-1200 BC) and exerted influence over other Mycenaean kingdoms.
I fell in love with this place; I went twice in 2 days!
So much to see, any historian or otherwise would be enchanted.
The artifacts and premises are kept exceptionally well, and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly.
I would love to return one day, God willing!

Beautiful site: the museum has all the information and great objects; the site itself is large and you can walk through the ruins. It costs €12 which includes another site nearby (a must see as well). It is not wheelchair accessible and you need proper trainers to walk around. The surrounding hills / mountains create a fantastic landscape.
Laura Porro — Google review
Without any advance information about what you'll see, one could be disappointed. A rocky outcrop, big walls, a cool gateway. That's what you'll come away with...
But do a little bit of googling about the Mycenaeans and the treasure that was found here you appreciate it all the better.
Maybe visit the on-site museum first.
Finally, everyone on a Greek Tour goes here so be prepared for crowds at certain times of the day.

Breathtaking! So, I decided to pay the King and Queen a visit. Had a couple issues to discuss, but by the time I got to the top, totally forgot what was on my mind. Just looking at the views and trying to imagine the days of bygone years. A definite must see!

A wondrous visit to Mycenae. Took a touch coach (all day). This was the third and last location. A wonderful walk and history. Well worth the visit. Make sure to listen to the stories from your tour guide.

It is very difficult to find words to describe the emotions this place evokes. To walk around the ancient Acropolis of Mycenae meant walking in the footsteps of my ancestors and admire what they had achieved. The route around the ruins took about an hour and each location had an information board describing what each building was. The views of the valley were breathtaking, and the tombs along with the Lion Gate were awe-inspiring.

This was one of the unexpected delights of our trip in Greece. I was not aware of this archaeological site prior to visiting, but it ended up being my favorite. The tomb is breathtaking due to its sheer scale and level of preservation. The rest of the site is on a steep hill, which was very windy when we visited. The views are amazing and the ancient site is very interesting. I recommend visiting with a guide.

Lovely historical site. Especially good with a licensed guide. Museum is fantastic! The site is wonderful but there could be better markings as to where you are on the site so you know how to get back to the museum. Especially if you have a time constraint.

Mycenae deserve a visit, the city is on top on a hill and what is still visible of the walls is impressive. You buy an unique ticket for the Museum, Agamemnon's tomb and the city. Beautiful.

Fantastic and extensive ruins with some parts dating back 5,000 years and a must see in the Nafplio area. Informative signage throughout in Greek and English make the visit much more interesting. Some parts of the site are accessible for mobility impaired but not all. Interesting trails below the citadel lead to beehive tombs-- don't miss these! The museum on the same grounds hold the collections taken from the excavations and gives context to the visit. Don't miss it. Be aware this is a stop on many tourist itineraries and it can be crowded with tour groups.

Breathtaking to walk the halls of Agamemnon and the house of Atreus. You can feel the epic of Homer here. The ruins are in pretty remarkable shape and well labeled. The site has a museum in walking distance. One thing I higjly recommend is to go to the center of the two tholos style tombs (Atreus and Lion). The acoustics are amazing.

Very enjoyable trip to famous historical site. Probably 1-2 hours needed. Great views both is the site itself and also the surrounding area. The place wasn't too busy, although we had to wait a few minutes for a parking space. Bring plenty of water as we couldn't find a water fountain on site, although there was a small shop selling drinks.
Mark Wigmore — Google review
We came here as part of a tour group, taking us through the museum and giving us more context to the ruins. To think that we are looking at over 3,000 years of history is amazing. I would recommend exploring the museum and taking your time to appreciate the ruins and check out the north side, and not just rush through the main parts

Located on the hills with sharp sunshine in a hot day. Since it located in a remote area, needed to consider 1 – 2 hours to visit the site properly, it made me a bit tired, considering driving back to the city. Luckily had convenient shoes for climbing on soil and stones. Site included a museum, and staff were nice. Beside each section, proper information was provided which I liked.
If planning to see the site, don’t forget memorial picture under Lion Gate.

This was a surprise trip for my group while heading to Athens. It was worth it! Be sure to get a local guide bc there is so much to learn, and otherwise you won't know what you're looking at. The climb wasn't bad and the views from the top were worth it. 360 views of Greece, and a little peak of the sea.

One of the most impressive archeological sites out there. The glory days of this place were more than 3000 years ago, yet this place makes these times come alive. Marvel at the wonders of the architecture, but also take in the simpleness of it all. These are the scales of things one should be imagining when reading Homer.
Truly fascinating place

Fascinating place to visit especially if you've seen the treasures in the National Archaeological Museum in Athens. Wear decent shoes and a hat as it's on a hillside with no shade. Tomb of Clytemnestra was quite eerie, more so than the larger tomb of Agamemnon a bit further down the road.

Magnificent Mycenae Palace, the unique entrance of the lions, the tomps, the museum. The only problem was that in wintertime, the opening hour is till 15:30 even in Google was written till 20:00. We mentioned that in the ticket office that they had to make the correction since we did not have enough time to visit all.

The Corinth Canal is a remarkable achievement of engineering spanning several centuries. Conceived by an Ancient Corinth ruler, started by Roman emperor Nero, and finished in the 19th century by the French, it's over 6km long and 23m wide with vertical sides towering over 90m above water. The canal played a significant role in elevating Piraeus' status as a prominent Mediterranean port.
I think it is one of the must-see locations on the way to Nafplio. The canal was built in late 1800s. However, as far as ı read, a landslides was occurred in the slopes of the canal. The Greek government decided to remove the debris and re-open the canal in 2021. however, we visited the canal in April 2022 and it was still closed to ship traffic.

I think this is a must see. The canal is long and narrow with beautiful tall cliffs on either side. The water is a strikingly beautiful blue when the sun directly hits it. You can watch boats make their way through the canal. It is about an hour drive from Athens airport, but it is a cool way to see the Greek countryside. There is a bungee jump there called Zulu Bungee which I highly recommend. You can even go there and watch other people jump from the viewing area above. There is ample paking and a bridge that you. an also walk out on to see the canal better. Also there is a nicely maintained restroom across the street.

Fantastic feat of engineering. Beyond taking a couple of photos and admiring the excavation there's not much to do. But we'll worth a 15 minute stop.

The Corinth Canal is a man-made canal in Greece, that connects the Gulf of Corinth in the Ionian Sea with the Saronic Gulf in the Aegean Sea. It cuts through the narrow Isthmus of Corinth and separates the Peloponnese from the Greek mainland, arguably making the peninsula an island. The canal was dug through the isthmus at sea level and has no locks. It is 6.4 kilometers (4 mi) in length and only 21.4 meters (70 ft) wide at its base, making it impassable for many modern ships. It is currently of little economic importance becoming mainly a tourist attraction.

Canal under constructionin1882.
It looks like this today.
Vlado ST — Google review
The canal was initially proposed in classical times and a failed effort was made to build it in the 1st century AD.[4] Construction recommenced in 1881 but was hampered by geological and financial problems that bankrupted the original builders. It was completed in 1893, but, due to the canal's narrowness, navigational problems, and aperiodic closures to repair landslides from its steep walls, it failed to attract the level of traffic expected by its operators.

This spot is not easy to get to, there are no proper road and have to drive through mud road. So be prepared if you want to get here. The view aren’t that magnificent as well. I would suggest taking a look at it from one of the bridges and passes the canal.
However if you would still come to this spot, I have attached some pictures that hopefully will help you find the entrance which is next to the petrol station - as you can see no proper road. Safe trip!

For a 19th century canal, it is impressive.
But not quite my thing.
You can also do a bunging jumping from the bridge.
The area itself did not have much to do.
It is probably something you do because is near somewhere else you're visiting. We were going to Temple of Hera and this was on the way.
There were some suffering stray cats too, so a bit heartbreaking. Please bring something for the lil kitties if you visit.

Loved this boat ride down the canal. The bridge goes down into the water and the boats go over it and down the straight canal to the other end. Very relaxing and nice boat ride. You get to see both ends of the canal and then turn around and go back. There is a tribute to Nero who started the project at the one end on the Corinth side.
Ancient Messene is a local community located in the Peloponnese region of Greece. It was once a thriving city-state and is now known for its extensive ruins, which are comparable to those of Olympia and Epidavros. Despite their impressive size, Ancient Messini attracts only a fraction of visitors compared to other ancient sites. The ruins include a large theatre, marketplace, Sanctuary of Asclepius, and an intact stadium that is considered one of the most impressive examples from Ancient Greece.

A place of immense historical and cultural significance with vast expense of ruins, remnants of grand and sacred temples and athletic facilities. The lush greenery, tall cypress trees and the nearby river creates a serene and picturesque setting for the ancient sports events.

We can walk through most of the ruins, and some of them have a steel rope circling. I hope people will notice that they shouldn’t walk inside. However, some people are still walking inside the circled area!

The Archaeological Museum of Olympia is a must-see for visitors to the ancient site. The museum showcases artifacts and art from the ruins, spanning from prehistoric times to the Roman period. Exhibits include ceramics, votive offerings, sacrificial cauldron adornments, and sculptures from the Temple of Hera. The main attraction is reassembled pediments and metopes from the Temple of Zeus showcased in a dramatic display in the main hall.
This is a small museum, but so amazing. The museum's collection shows the Greek style and then the transition to the Roman style. A few of the pieces reminded me of what you would see in the Louvre. If you enjoy the Renaissance period, you can see original pieces that were created about 2,000 years earlier. I had a tour guide so that really enhanced my experience.

Very well run and interesting site for the origin of the Olympics. Amazing that the first record of the games was back in 776 BC and ran every 4 years for the next 1300 or so years. The overall area was roughly half religious/administrative and every thing else was devoted to the games.

Well laid out, clearly explained, fantastic artifacts. You'd do well to spend 80% of your time in Olympia here, reading and exploring everything, unlike the tour groups that rocket through each room, choosing only 1 item to highlight and talking--so you can't read anything on your own. We didn't do that. Highlight: the temple of Zeus pediment statues which are better presented and explained than the Parthenon ones at the Acropolis museum! Well done! We are full time travelers who spent 3 months exploring Greece.

Nestled in the heart of ancient Olympia, the Archaeological Museum offers an unparalleled journey through time. From the moment you step foot inside, you are transported back to the birthplace of the Olympic Games and the cradle of Western civilization. The museum's collection is nothing short of breathtaking, showcasing artifacts dating back to antiquity. From intricately carved statues of gods and athletes to exquisite pottery and jewelry, each piece tells a story of ancient Greece's rich cultural heritage. One of the highlights of my visit was seeing the renowned statue of Hermes by Praxiteles, a masterpiece of classical sculpture that exudes grace and beauty. The museum's layout is well-designed, allowing visitors to navigate through the exhibits with ease and fully immerse themselves in the history and significance of each artifact. The staff members were friendly and knowledgeable, ready to answer any questions and offer guidance throughout my visit. Additionally, the museum's facilities, including restrooms and a gift shop, were well-maintained and convenient for visitors. Overall, my experience at the Archaeological Museum of Olympia was nothing short of extraordinary. Collection is incredible. Some of the most impressive bronze relics in the world. It’s worth a visit to be in the presence of these artifacts.
That said, if you are a serious museum goer, avoid the middle of the day as loads of noisy tour busses unload their flocks. Private tours with loud guides further disrupt the learning experience. Halls are made of marble and the sound echoes: Makes it hard to concentrate on the reading. Best to visit early or late when the crowds subside.

One of the great museums of Greece, indeed Europe, with remarkable Archaic period bonzes and terracottas.
The early Classical period marble sculpture from the Temple of Zeus is the museum's highlight due to its completeness.

Archaeological Museum of Olympia in Olympia, Greece is a beautiful collection of artifacts from this historic site. The Olympic games were free, but people were required to bring offerings of their own choosing, to be sacrificed to the gods. Many have been recovered, all are fascinating. In this museum we also viewed Nike of Paionios, Hermes of Praxiteles, The sculptured ornaments from the Temple of Zeus., and more. The rough looking scrapers towards the end of this photo series are the tools used by original Olympians to clean their dirty skin.

The Archaeological Museum of Olympia complements historically, scientifically and artistically the most famous ancient sanctuary dedicated to the worship of Zeus. In the consciousness of present-day civilization, however, Olympia is best known for the pan-Hellenic games held in 776 BCE - 393 AD, forerunners of the current Olympic Games. Appearing since the dawn of Greek civilization, the Sanctuary of Olympia became the most important pan-Hellenic religious, political and sports center of ancient Greece.
The museum contains a large number of artifacts identified on the grounds and in the vicinity of the nearby archaeological site of Olympia. The exhibits are presented in chronological order and are grouped thematically in 11 rooms that form a kind of circuit around a large central hall that houses sculptures from the Temple of Zeus, which housed the famous Statue of Zeus, one of the 7 wonders of antiquity. Incidentally, many other pieces come from the two main temples (Zeus and Hera) of the sanctuary. From the point of view of history and artistic periods, the exhibition space covers the entire period of Olympia's existence, from the Prehistoric period (2700-2000 BCE), passing through the Mycenaean (1600-1100 BCE), Geometric and Archaic periods (the centuries 9 - 6 BCE), the "Severe" style period (Early Classic, 490-450 BCE, in which the Temple of Zeus is also decorated), the Roman period (2nd century BC - 3rd century AD) and ending with the period of abandonment of the site (6th-7th centuries AD).
In the Archaeological Museum of Olympia we meet various exhibits and especially statues that appear in textbooks and art history books. Among these we mention:
- the world's largest collection of offerings to the God Zeus (Geometric and Archaic periods)
- the terracotta "acroterion" that crowned the Temple of the Goddess Hera in Olympia

The Delphi Archaeological Museum houses a vast collection of architectural sculptures, statues, and other precious objects donated to the ancient Greek oracle from the 8th century BC onwards. It is a matter of debate whether to visit the museum or site first, as both offer unique experiences. The museum provides visitors with insights into what the site may have looked like during its prime, featuring wealthy buildings and vividly coloured statues.
The museum is right next to the Delphi ruins and holds most of the (small) items found on the site and the more monuments/decorative stones used on the buildings.
The museum isn't that big and takes the general visitor less than half an hour.
Including the Delphi ruins this is a sight worth seeing.

Wonderful museum showing the amazing finds throughout the ancient temple area. Offers plenty of information about its life as a religious center for the ancient Greeks. So many things to see, plan to spend sometime slowly making your way through.

Really incredible museum and building! Loved how the building stands on stilts overtop of an archaeological site with several places to view from. It's easy to understand why it has won so many awards with its thoughtful design that compliments the exhibits without taking away from them. Note that you are not allowed to bring backpacks into the museum. I was asked to check my backpack but it was free and an efficient system. No worries there.

Archaeological site and museum locate beside each other, just off the road. Finally, found a spot in 5 – 10 minutes’ walk. Since no specific parking lot provided, there is a chance, need to go back and forth to find a spot after somebody’s leaving. Staff were very nice and welcome. Site is located in the heights and good looking landscape. You would see different nationality, professional and nice travelers, interested in history. There was some information about monument but it could be more. There were some shops for statues and souvenirs with good price. Still there is a chance to negotiate. Local people were welcome to provide information, to help to find parking spot, and to show the ways.

Visiting the Delphi archaeological site and museum was an unforgettable journey into the heart of ancient Greece. The site itself, nestled on the slopes of Mount Parnassus, offers breathtaking views and a palpable sense of history. Exploring the ruins of the Temple of Apollo, the theater, and the stadium was like stepping back in time, imagining the rituals and competitions that once took place there.
The museum, with its impressive collection of artifacts, beautifully complements the outdoor experience. From intricately carved statues to delicate pottery, each exhibit tells a story of the people who once inhabited this sacred place. The highlight for me was seeing the iconic Charioteer statue up close, its serene expression and masterful craftsmanship truly awe-inspiring.
The staff at both the site and the museum were knowledgeable and passionate, adding depth to the experience with their insights and anecdotes. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply seeking to connect with the past, a visit to Delphi is a must-do. It's a place where ancient wonders come to life, leaving a lasting impression on all who have the privilege to explore its treasures.

We were very pleased to make our visit to Delphi including the archaeological museum. All of those things that we have read and heard about all our lives regarding Apollo and his role in Greek history were brought to life. We really enjoyed our visit.

What an amazing place to visit!!! Full of monuments, stunning status and offers to the Gods! I am so proud to be Greek Origin and very happy to see all these historic places…congratulations to people, devoted to this sacred place!
PS I recommend to visit very early in the morning to see the sun rising up the mountains…ones in a lifetime experience

Incredible history behind an ancient center of religion. Imagine asking and then getting advice from a woman who babbled from inhaled vapors which then were interpreted by priests in a vague manner so as to allow the questioner to figure out the answer for themselves. And then the vast mini temples and tributes to the Oracle...
It blows the mind as to how powerful and influential this place was.

Good museum. You definitely need an engaging tour guide to get proper context and history behind each display. The museum felt a little congested and the air conditioning is bad. No proper ventilation. Overall a good museum to visit. Just make sure to grab a fan to get yourself some air.

Worth the drive - don't miss Delphi!
This was one of the best parts of the our Greek trip! Delphi is so beautiful and magical. It was worth the two hour drive from Athens. We took a tour with Getaways Greece which was a day trip. The vistas were just beautiful on the drive. Once you get to Delphi it's like you're transported to somewhere magical! I loved it better than Acropolis which was so touristy. The crowds were sparse here and it was lovely to take in the sites at your own pace without being herded like cattle.
Mind you it does take a bit of walking if you want to get to the top to see the stadium. But even if you don't go all the way to the top it is still a beautiful place to visit and you can still get a lot out of it without going to the top. Wear comfortable shoes.

Beautiful museum and incredible site to explore. We had a private guide that explained all of the historical significance of the site.
I'll just add one warning: the incline is steep and the steps are uneven. If mobility is an issue, as it was for me, making it to the top to see the theater, may not be possible.

Nice musium! Very explanatory through the texts that describe the different monuments! It is relatively small thus it is not getting boring for smaller children lets say. It combines the outside area of Delphi that is very pretty with a beautiful view! A pleasant experience for sure!

This museum wasn't too bad, especially since the ticket to the Sanctuary of Apollo came with the museum ticket. For the size of the place, I was kind of expecting it to be wall to wall artifacts and it really wasn't. With the museum and the archeological sites, maybe took a few hours to read about and take in.
Brian Morton — Google review
If your visiting Delphi this is a must see. The museum really helps put the ruins in perspective and context. Lots of ancient artifacts found at the site. It's very affordable and not huge, I wouldn't see spending more than maybe a few hours.
Erica Seegrist — Google review
Great place to visit if you're in the area. Plenty to see and learn during this site.
The path is nicely laid out, and you should be able to see everything should you follow the correct path.
The archeological site also offers an amazing view of the mountains, especially as you get higher towards the stadium.
The ticket price also offers entry into the museum, which offers historic displays and artefacts from the archeological site.
Don't forget to visit the other two archeological sites just a little further down the road (gymnasium and Athena... Something - should be visible on Google Maps).
Walkable to and from the town of Delphi as well, so you can definitely spend a good few hours there, wandering around and learning about this site and its historical importance.

Delphi Archeological site is a jewel. Wear good shoes and bring a hat! Even at 8 am in middle of May, there were already tour buses, so be aware there will be crowds.
Lise Anne Janis — Google review
An exceptional archaeological site as well as a museum. It is not indicated anywhere, but due to the extreme heat, the working hours have been changed. In the morning they work from 8h to 13h and then from 17:30h to 20h. The disadvantage is that children from 12 to 25 years old outside the European Union are not entitled to free entry but pay half price.
Milica Stankovic — Google review
I would advise doing this with a guide if your interested in more then just taking photos. You get a much more in depth experience and an understanding of what your looking at. Museum and the temple ruins were amazing. Note the stadium is about 10-15 mins further up from the ruins.
Damian Benton — Google review
A great museum and extraordinary archeological site. The admission price of €12 gives you access to both. So the site early as it gets hot and the museum after. Also you avoid the crowds if you go early. Amazing history and buildings.

If you are going to Meteora stop here and enjoy this place. The drive is amazing and so is the small town a mile down the road. This place has very complete ruins which are awesome.
Kunal Chandel — Google review
Not too big but interesting, best to go after visiting the main site as you'll have an idea where many of the things on exhibit were from. Good written information, you'll get a lot even without a tour guide. It can be packed with tours, plan between 20 and 60 minutes depending on how much you want to read and the crowds to squeeze through.

The Delphi Archaeological Museum, nestled in the heart of Greece, serves as a mesmerizing window into the ancient world, showcasing the rich cultural and religious heritage of the Delphic sanctuary, revered throughout antiquity as the home of the famous oracle. This museum is a treasure trove of history, housing an extensive collection of artifacts that span thousands of years, including the iconic Charioteer of Delphi, the Sphinx of Naxos, and the remnants of the Temple of Apollo. The exhibits, arranged chronologically, offer a comprehensive overview of the development of the art and thought of ancient Greece, making it a must-visit for history enthusiasts. Beyond its historical significance, the museum's location offers breathtaking views of the surrounding valley and mountains, adding a layer of natural beauty to the experience. Visiting the Delphi Archaeological Museum is not just a journey into the past; it's an opportunity to connect with the wisdom and artistry of ancient civilizations, making it a pivotal stop for anyone exploring Greece's rich heritage.

A definite highlight of my families Greek vacation. Come stand at the Temple of Apollo and imagine it's 7th century BC and your about to ask the Oracle a question. The grounds here take you back to a time that predates most of what we know about history. Beautiful museum to see and then walk through what used to be ancient Delphi and make your way to the amphitheatre at the Pinnacle.

You can visit this amazing place from parking to peak in an hour. And if you do, you're cheating yourself. If you don’t want to leave with regrets, commit at least four hours for this exploration of antiquities and yourself. We were on a private tour. It was supposed to be a small group of 6 to 8 people. But we were the only customers that day so it was my partner, myself, our guide and our driver. It was perfect! Do not, I repeat, do NOT book a large group tour! You will be one of 60 people wearing a headset, separated from everyone, in your private purgatory, trying to stay within range of your distant guide’s transmission. But don’t trust me. “Know thyself.” Know for yourself. Visit & form your own opinions.

A must visit the museum. There are so many artifacts that were in very good condition or very well restored. One should visit the site first and then visit the museum. There are no restrooms inside the museum, you need to go out for that. Also make sure to check the time slot in your ticket, and visit the museum within that time to avoid issues.
Delphi is a modern town located west of the ancient archaeological site. The town was established to accommodate the population of Castro, which had to be relocated for the excavation of the ancient Delphi site. Ancient Delphi, situated on Mt Parnassos with views of the Gulf of Corinth and surrounded by olive trees, is considered one of Greece's most spiritually significant archaeological sites.
Kalamaki Beach Hotel on Zakynthos Island is a serene beachfront property with an outdoor pool, restaurant, and bar. The beach is located in a protected area next to Laganas, making it a popular spot for snorkeling. The National Marine Park of Zakynthos was established to preserve the coastal area and provide a safe nesting place for Caretta caretta turtles.
Went to visit family there we had lunch at the pool bar which was excellent then chilled out on the sun loungers by the pool which was spotless. staff are very polite and accommodating. The beach is only a stones throw away from this lovely hotel.

My friend and I booked a room at their hotel back in February, aiming to go to Zante from 9th to 12th of June, conscious of the terms and conditions and the no cancellation policy (stressing this point again because the hotel's reply at my feedback is just a sad attempt to demonstrate we did not understand or really paid attention when we completed the booking when It Is not the case, we were absolutely aware of the no cancellation policy).
Unfortunately though, Ryanair cancelled our flights towards the end of February, offering alternatives on other dates not Ideal for us. Due to the unforeseen situation, we immediately reached out to the hotel explaining what happened, sharing evidence of the flight's change and kindly asked if they could consider a free cancellation, at least for part of the amount paid.
We called and sent several messages (First message sent on 24th of February and rejection without a message to explain their reasons received beginning of March only, again to prove that what stated by the owner in their reply It Is not true, they did not reply immediately and they didn't even pick up the phone) and never really received an answer for a while, until one day they simply reject our request without even a message. At that point, we decided to escalate this with Booking who could not do much more besides trying to explain the circumstance once again, ending up receiving the same "treatment". I appreciate and respect that the no cancellation policy was clear from the start but, not only we were ignored - we are guests, a minimum of touch on how they dealt with us should have been the minimum - but with 4 months ahead of the planned holiday, they could have easily found someone else interested in their hotel who would have replaced our booking. If this Is how they treat their guests, i would avoid this place.

Me and other 4 friends booked a semi-based apartment on Feb 2022 for vacation planned on June 2022 through booking website.
Our booking was a non refundable one and we were aware of not getting money back in case the trip was stopped for any reason.
One week later we had journey changes by Ryanair, myself had to fly and leave on same day since the flying company cancelled many dates.
We tried to call the hotel by phone, to reach them by email and we never had a reply for weeks.
We then tried to contact Booking Assistance in order to help us, sending our cancelled flights too, letting them know it would have been not possible to control the situation, highlighting that we were giving 4 months of warning.
Hotel never responded to us neither to Booking Assistance and so we then tried again through the Booking Assistance team to help us contacting directly the hotel.
They replied they couldn’t refund us with NO explanations, having an insensitive behavior, when they are usually fully booked and this reservation could have been made by someone else very quickly. Also, they lost clients for no reason!
Worst experience ever!!!!

We recently stayed at your hotel for a week and received excellent service from the front desk throughout our stay. We chose a sea view room, and the spacious balcony provided a comfortable and relaxing experience for us.
We would like to express our gratitude for the comfortable and spacious accommodation provided by your hotel. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our time in the sea view room. The magnificent view of the sea from the balcony greeted us with freshness and tranquility every morning. The expansive balcony gave us a great sense of comfort, allowing us to fully enjoy the relaxation of our vacation.
The service at reception was exceptional throughout our stay. The staff was consistently friendly, welcoming, and willing to answer our questions and fulfill our needs. Their professionalism and attentiveness left a positive impression on us.
Furthermore, I would like to highlight the dedication of the staff at the bar. Their commitment to providing quality service was evident,This level of care and responsibility made us feel valued as guests.
Another aspect worth emphasizing is the professionalism of the two front desk staff members. Despite the strict checkout time of 10 a.m., your hotel provides the convenience of a warm shower facility downstairs. This is especially beneficial for guests with late evening flights who wish to refresh after spending time at the beach before boarding their planes. The hotel's close proximity to the airport further adds to its convenience, making it an ideal choice for travelers.
Lastly, we were impressed with the quality of the swimming pool water. It was clean and well-maintained, allowing us to fully enjoy our swimming sessions.
Overall, our experience at your hotel was highly satisfying. We appreciate the exceptional service, comfortable accommodations, and convenient location. We highly recommend your hotel to others and look forward to the opportunity to stay with you again in the future.
Thank you for providing us with a memorable stay.

Absolutely fantastic holiday here. We have just returned home yesterday. We arrived at this hotel to the best greeting from SOFIA thank you so much what a fabulous way to start your stay with you. Well done to all the staff everyone always smiling and very attentive to all visitors. This hotel is perfect location for the beach and a short walk to the centre for bars and restaurants. We ate out every night at a different restaurant everyone was amazing. But the best night I had was at the FAMILY restaurant, it was amazing thank you so much, all the restaurants we visited deserve 5stars., but FAMILY you get 6stars absolutely amazing food, atmosphere I highly recommend this restaurant. Also head down to zante old town here you must stop off at the island bar we recommend the cocktails here are fantastic the best in all zante, I've put some of the pictures of our meals. We learnt very quickly that a main course is all you require at the restaurants as the portion size is amazing, you may just manage an ice cream after your meal. I would like to thank Eleanor at the beach pool for always looking after us 5 stars to you for all the hard work you do it was a pleasure meeting you and your family. We are already looking to come back next year. Another place to visit is Delights if your are staying in Kalamaki beach hotel area this is a fantastic place to also eat and have a drink, they have the karaoke on Tuesday and Saturday night. Fabulous time. Look out for the view of the aeroplanes landing, but you also get this amazing experience at the beach. The first holiday we have totally relaxed from start to finish. No rushing for breakfast, sun beds, light lunch, and dinner. Thank you to everyone we met and gave us amazing memories, we will be back.

Hotel Kalamaki Beach is the place to be. Nice and friendly people, wonderful and clean rooms and always service with a smile. Once you arrive it feels like coming home. Nice clean pool and poolbar with lots of free beds runned by Pavlina and her husband and Elena. You can also go to the private beach with taverna restaurant. But the best place for a nice dinner or a late night drink is de Resto Bar in front of the hotel. The lovely and always smiling Natasa does everything to make your stay one in a million. I can’t wait to go back to this hotel, which for me is the best on Zakynthos ❤️❤️❤️

Laganas Beach is a vast sandy beach located in the busiest resort area of the island. It is a favourite spot for sunbathing and water sports, including scuba diving and snorkeling due to its shallow warm waters with excellent visibility. This beach also serves as the main area for loggerhead turtles to lay their eggs, making it a common sight to see them while swimming here. Laganas Beach offers many surrounding bars and restaurants, making it an ideal destination for those seeking various amenities.
Very crowded if you walk on to the beach though the sand is great and the water shallow. Quite a few places to eat at this end of the beach. Lol many 18 to 30 here and it''s very noisy at night from all the club's, I stayed here years ago on a cheap break and it was good.

5/5, highly recommend, nice Beach, long but narrow but its not a problem, sunbeds are free for the whole day as long as you order something from the restaurant, either food or drink. Very warm sea, clear and simply beautiful. It is even possible to spot a turtle! One minor issue is that all restaurants are close to each other and the music played can be heard from 3/4 different restaurants.

It's like Bath water. Inbetween the two resorts its crystal clear, shallow beach so safe. Beach shuts at sunset and opens at 7am to leave the loggerhead turtles peace to come ashore and lay their eggs.

Amazing beach from the part after the sunbeds towards kalmaki. Perfect for paddle boarding and watching the swa turtels by yourself .and snorkeling. be aware of winds and sea conditions changing very fast from flat and calm to abig mess. I have seen boats passing above sea turtles and putting them in danger. its not clear why motor boats allowed in this part of laganas during nesting season compared with gereka beach which do not even allow kayaks and sup.

I was shocked at the amount of garbage at the beach (in the areas without beach chairs owned by stores) and around the beach. We filled an entire garbage bag with garbage just from the 100 meters of beach that we walked on. Shame on the city. I understand it’s a party town but it’s hypocritical to say you protect sea turtles and sea life and then a beach so close to protected wildlife areas is full of plastic and garbage.

The Blue Caves Villas is an exclusive retreat situated in Zakynthos, the largest of Ionian islands. This luxurious hideaway boasts fully-equipped units with individual swimming pools, kitchens and terraces, as well as convenient amenities such as helipad and beach access. Located on the west coast of Zakynthos, it offers a picturesque view of blue caves that reflect the stunningly vibrant blue color of the waters surrounding them while capturing the shimmering shine reflected by clear skies.
We had the absolute pleasure of staying at Blue Caves Villas in May 2023, staying in the beautiful Fantasia villa for 10 days. The villas are perfectly located in a quiet area, with incredible views of kefalonia and the Aegean sea, surrounded by unspoiled land and green olive trees. It was perfect for our small family holiday, seeking peace and quiet. The villa was impeccably clean, the fridge was stocked with snacks, basics and wines and beers ready for our arrival, giving the perfect start to our time there. We were pleased to find a delivery service via WhatsApp where local stores will deliver directly to the villa day or night. If you have small children, this is a game changer!
George was such a wonderful host, and we enjoyed spending time with him and Diaz the dog. Whilst we were there, our 5 year old daughter had her birthday, and unexpectedly George arrived with a personalised cake for her, from his favourite local cake maker. George actually shared the very same birthday, so we enjoyed a few cakes together to celebrate. The cake from George for our daughter, was quite special and we were so grateful to him for making the entire trip so wonderful for us, from start to finish. We cannot wait to go back again this year. Can’t recommend Blue Caves Villas enough - a beautiful, wonderful and special place if you are seeking peace, quiet, privacy in a beautiful location.

We got married on the property and had our family stay with us at Purple and Crystal Villas. Both Monika and Giorgos were so helpful in answering all our questions leading up to our stay and during our stay. Giorgos went out of his way to make our wedding vacation so special, and we truly appreciate it. The villas are in a remote area, so it felt like we had the whole island to ourselves. The beds were comfortable, and everything was so clean! The property is also spotless.
We are also dog lovers who missed our own dogs so much so it was great to get cuddles from Diaz the second.
Getting down and into the cave is a little precarious but such a cool feature! We had a storm for a few days of our visit so were weren't able to make much use of the caves, and access to the sea.
It is in a remote part of Zakynthos, so if you are planning to leave the property we'd recommend renting cars. We have 3 cars for our ten guests and had lots of parking room.
The villas and hospitality we recieved were truly amazing and made our wedding day and family vacation so special. Would recommend them to anyone!

The proximity to nature, breathtaking views, organic fruits and herbs, as well as bathing in rainwater, made our stay at Blue Caves Villas a luxurious and exceptional experience. Away from tourists and noise, we were able to immerse ourselves in the sound of the sea, the singing of birds, and the cicadas. Not to mention the architecture of Deep Blue house, which perfectly complements the island's character. Blue caves villa is probably the best place to be in Zakynthos, the largest islands in the Ionian sea. On the West cost where Zakynthos offers one of its most stunning views: the blue caves. They are also known as the blue caves of Volimes, the picturesque village where they are located. The distinctive element of the blue caves is that they reflect the vibrating and striking blue colour of the waters in them, which at the same time capture and reflect the shine of the limpid sky reflected on their surface. It is a secluded part of the island that has everything you are looking for. It’s an absolutely beautiful location with breathtaking views over the turquoise Ionian sea.

The small fishing village of Skala sits on the southern tip of Kefalonia, near Mounda Beach. It is known for its beautiful layout and long sandy beach, which is bordered by dense bush hills and rocky outcrops. This unique combination captivates many visitors.
The beach has been awarded the Blue Flag for its cleanness and organization, something that it is still famous for. It gets quite crowded during the summer season but you can still find a secluded spot for some quiet moments.
Skala is ideal for snorkeling while a boat rental service is available at the beach.
On the main street of the settlement, right above the beach are plenty of restaurants and cafes, mini markets and other modern amenities.

The beach indeed is huge, it is organized here and there, but there is also plenty of space to use if you have your own stuff. The water is super clean, but gets deep quickly. Also worth to have shoes as the stones are hard to walk on. If you are nearby worth to come, to drive 30km as we did, was not worth it.

Skala beach is beautiful, it's huge and wide, and has great views. It's at the southern tip of the island it boasts very clear water. The beach, as with most on the island, is a mix of sand and pebbles (water shoes) but it's a wide and long beach with lots of different sections of sun beds and open free beach. The sea bed drops quite quickly to about 4m, it's an open beach so there's not a huge amount of fish to see but it's a decent place for sunbathing and swimming.

Nice beach to visit not a-lot of sand quiet rough with pebbles as is the shoreline , water is beautiful & crystal clear , plenty of places to eat nearby and plenty of water activities to hire such as canoes , paddle boarding banana boats etc
Hamish Connor MacLeod — Google review
Nice long sandy and pebbled beach in Skala right in front of the main town with bars/restaurants running alongside the length of the beach. Water is clear. Plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas to rent and some watersport facilities along the beach (mainly to the left of the town if you are facing the sea).

I really love Skala, really nice place, really nice and friendly people! Small town but very nice.
The beaches were beautiful, nice restaurants, there were some supermarkets, easy to park everywhere. Perfect!
Antisamos beach is a stunning location situated on the eastern side of Kefalonia. It boasts picturesque views of turquoise waters nestled between two wooded headlands and is the second most famous beach on the island. Visitors can relax in this tranquil setting surrounded by green hills and crystal-clear blue-green water. The beach offers both organized sunbeds, umbrellas, a beach bar, and watersports center with fun games for those seeking a more active experience.
Super amazing beach! Sadly there is no sand but… amazing view , blue water , bar , music cocktails and mythos beer 🇬🇷😎 you get served plastic beverages on the beach.

One of the better, cleaner beaches. Younger crowd. Water toy rentals on th far right. Lots of pebbles , make sure to wear water shoes. Not to many waves either. 2 Lounge chairs and an umbrella. $10 euros. Very affordable. Lots of bumble bees and wasps though. Gets extremely crowded.

Absolutely love this beach. Unfortunately it's grown over the past few years.
Starting to be rather commercial.
I prefer it local style & not en mass commercial style, with hiked up pretentious prices.
We tend to stick to the bars at far end as not as 'euro trendy' & loud.
The secret we once loved has now been shared! Probably by people like myself writing fabulous reviews on the beach & such crystal clear waters.
Watching people from their luxury yachts, getting ferried in land. It's a piece of paradise we All want.
Only downside are the wasps! Terrible in high season due to more sticky foods left around I gues....

For me this is a better beach thank Myrtos, here you can take a bath even if you don’t know how to swim. Be careful when you go up from the beach by car, not everyone here is used with narrow streets…

Amazing beach with wonderful service, 20€ of beverage / food mandatory, plus the sunbeds cost that is vary by the row. The last row is free, the middle rows cost 15€ and the first ones is 20€.
Drinks, cocktails, juice and sandwiches are great, there's disco music all day, wc, showers awesome and super comfortable sunbeds with big umbrella. That's really comfortable and enjoyable.

Beautiful place, clean water but from my perspective too organised. In the Acron place you have to order food and drinks, which is Ok, but the staff is very often coming, asking and repeating the rules. In the restaurant the food is tasty but It takes time to be served. You can rent a paddle board

Oh my god, what an amazing beach. The water is lovely, clean, just amazing. The beach is full of beautiful white rocks, they might be little unpleasant. But when you swim into the water you forget that and all you feel is a pure pleasure. Around you is greenery and you are filling amused. Visit it!!!!

Stunning scenery and crystal clear waters - in my view the most beautiful beach of the island. There is plenty of parking, sunbeds (some offered for free), 3-4 bars/restaurants and watersports! Best day ever!

Probably the best beach in Kefalonia and better than Myrtos beach personal opinion. Very esthetic beach bars with free sunbeds. More young people , nice music in Acron bar and free wifi. Good place for snorkeling and water sport sports.

Beach has a lot of fishes swimming near the shore, it's great place for snorkeling. Different bars have different conditions for sun beds - solid price or consumption. Myrtos and Petani beaches are better though. Melisani cave is about 15 min drive from Antisamos Beach.

Very beautiful white stoney beach. Free sunbeds were available in Sept, when we visited. The sunbeds are attached to some lovely beach bars with great friendly staff.
The fish can be seen in the clear waters.

Beautiful beach, but a bit busy, a white pebble makes a turquoise sea colour. The sunbeds closer to the sea are for €12 even if you come later in the afternoon, only the last 2 back rows are for free.

One of the most popular beaches on Kefalonia. The beach on Kefalonia with the most content, beach bars with music. There is a huge parking lot in front of the beach. In two bars there are free sunbeds, while in one there are sets for two for 10 Euros. The water is clean, the beach is clean and there are places for towels outside the bars and sunbeds. Definitely those who like beaches with content must come to this beach.
Djordje Stozinic — Google review
One of the most beautiful beaches in Kefalonia. Calm clear waters, rich in marine wildlife (great for snorkeling), good amenities and good food (the kontosouvli, +++). The only place on the island where we wanted to return for a second day.

Clear blue waters and a great place to spend a day

Great beach, beautiful nature but unpleasant and disapointing expirience. 3/4 of the beach are covered with densed sunbeds. One quarter is not cleaned well. There is two water sports points and it is constantly noisy from jetskies and motor boats. There are thoiletes in the restaurants and just a few changing cabins and all the services are linked to restaurants and bars. There is spacious and free parking lot but imidiately on the parking lot , restaurant staff will offer their help. There are diferent policies abaut sunbeds. In the first restaurant sunbeds are 15€ for first two rows and 12€ for others. In the second bar it is writen that sunbeds are free but that means that is your obligation to order whole lunch aproximately arount 30€. SUP for one hour is 20 and kayak the same. Beach is made of pebbles so it is dificult to put your own parasol in the ground. Beach footwear is recomended.
Melissani Cave is a natural wonder in Kefalonia that visitors must see. Boats take tourists through the cave which features a stunning lake with crystal-clear waters. The unique feature of this cave is the mixing of fresh and sea water. Entry to the cave requires a small fee, and it is recommended to visit during summer between 11 am and 1 pm for optimal sunlight illumination.
If you visit Kefalonia, you should also visit this wonder of nature. The cave is amazing, here the sea water is being mixed with fresh water. You visit the cave by a boat.
You have to pay a small fee to enter the cave, and try to visit the cave, when the sun is at the right spot, so sunlight is coming directly into the cave (I think between 11.00 and 13.00 hours, during summer).

30 Min from Argostoli, you will find this cave near the road to Sami. My advice is to buy the ticket for both Drogarati and Melissani cave, that costs only 10€. The place is magnificent, a cold cave with bright blue water. The ticket includes a 10 Min ride in a small boat, with a local guide that explains the origin of the place. Definitely a must see if you are in Kefalonia. We went there at 2pm and there was no queue (and the place is cold so it's amazing to have a break from the summer heat!)

Very beautiful cave. Worth the money.
Single ticket for this cave is 8€ for adult, 4€ for kid

It is bearable but too touristic this expect long queues. Better to go or very early or very late but the the light inside the lake won’t be the best. 10 euro entrance fee for both cave Melissani and drogorati

Visited 11.2.23 The highlight of our short visit to Sami. A 2.2km bike ride to the caves from the port terminal. You will pass homes and local patisseries, market and souvenir shops along the way. It's quiet. You can hear the birds and a distant rooster calling. Once there you will pay 8 euros per adult for access and boat ride to the cave. A short steep walk down to the lake and there you will be greeted by friendly staff who take you around this wonderous cave encrusted with stalactites and stalagmites and this deep apphire Mediteŕanean blue waters. 💙

Great place with special flair. We were there in the afternoon so there where almost no people. But even if there were no people waiting our guide did the shortest program possible. We were out after 10 mins. So that was disappointing. Because just being there and enjoying the good cool air and accoustics is really great.
Clemens Doppler — Google review
Very beautiful cave with interesting play of colours, but I have seen more beautiful. This cave is so called the highlight of the island Kefalonia. So that you have to wait about 1/2 hour is OK, the price is also OK. But the time in the cave is too much short (our was like 5 maximal 8 minutes). Our boat guide was talking almost only Greek (and I can speak Greek, but there were other people too), very with low voice, very quickly, and his English was so bad, that I didn't understand. He didn't tell anything about the geomorphology, nothing about history, nothing about the depth of the cave. Only thing he was saying repeatedly was that the water comes somewhere from watermills in Argostoli. If I didn't read something about the cave the night before and if I didn't ask the guide some questions, it would be really terrible for me. He even didn't take us to the very end of the cave. So it's a very commercial place with no information value. I would minimal appreciate, if the guide is so bad, if there would be something like museum or information about the cave which could you read meanwhile you're waiting for the tickets. It was little bit waste of time for me. I've seen more beautiful caves with or without water and for free in my life.
Marketa Schestauberova — Google review
Melissani Cave is a great destination for a short stop on your way, don't get me wrong it's stunningly beautiful if you get your timing right but it doesn't take much time to complete. However it's very reasonable, especially if you combo ticket for the other caves.
If you visit between 11am and 2pm there will be blue water, if you arrive at high noon the whole pool will be blue. However the car park will be hugely busy.
The gift shop is a bit tatty and the toilets were locked when we visited at 11:15 though, hence the dropped star.

We went on high season, at 12:00 so the time were the caves are very full … there was a line were we waited approx 30 mins. However contrary to the other comments I didn’t thing that the line was annoying. There is umbrella so you don’t wait in the sun. If you have good company the line doesn’t seem that long.
The experience : amazing !! It felt like a Disneyland activity. It was awesome !! Something I never saw. Okay it was a bit short but it was enough, plus the staff is super friendly !! They do the tour all the day for tourists but they still are super fun, trying to divert you… 100% worth the wait !!

From all the places we visit, this was the busiest. As some people have mentioned, hoards of tourists arriving in buses while we were in the queue. Everybody wants to get the best light, which is usually between 12-1pm.
Be ready to have cash, we've had a couple of instances where we couldn't pay with a card as the network wasn't available.
The boat ride is ten minutes long.
I loved it personally!
I've never been to a "cenote" before and this was my closest experience.
It is a really magical place, if you look closely you can see the bats sleeping and eels swimming around. The colour of the water is pristine.

Very atmospheric and a lovely little boat trip into a cave, the water was really blue and the guide on the boat told us lots of information. The trip only took 15 mins so wasn’t too long and you can also buy a dual ticket to get into the other cave a few km away which was good value.
So we all agree right Guys? — Google review
Very beautiful and a must. You wait I’m line through these cave tunnel then you emerge into this large open ceiling cave with stunning water so clear it looks shallow when in reality it’s 50 metres deep. You go on a little hand rowed boat ride around and into the large cave and back around. It doesn’t run long but it’s super fun and just really beautiful to see.
Athena Dalkos — Google review
Really beautiful place. You can park for free around the spot, then you have to pay 7€ per person to be able to enter. You’ll be with 6-8 people on a small bark, the trip took 10 minutes, there is not much to see : a lake with the whole above, and then stalactites in another part of the lake. Worth the jump in especially if you go around 12h to have the sun above you. Watch out there were some kind of snakes underwater and big spiders on the wall.
Tristan Garabedian — Google review
We enjoyed the short trip. The entrance is 8 euro per adult and if you plan to visit Drogarrati cave you can buy a 10 euro ticket for both. Otherwise for the cave you will have to pay 5 euro.
There was a queue but everything was fast and we hadn’t have to wait more than 5 to 10 minutes.
Inside there are some very friendly guys which give you the roundtrip and they make you pictures. We enjoyed the trip, we saw an eel(fish) and we considered a good value for the money we paid.

This is a very beautiful place. The cave with clear water, beautiful lighting, and stalactites. Worth visiting.
When we visited, the place was overcrowded and long queues to get in
Another thing that we didn't like is you just get ~10 min round on the boat, and that's it.
Petro Fl — Google review
Visited: June 21, 2023.
The queue (line) to get in was torturous, it wrapped around the building and into the bus parking area. There were several bus loads of cruise ship passengers and no shade until the last ten meters before the ticket desk.
Tip: Bring a sun shade umbrella if possible and consider a bottle of water for the queue as mandatory. Also, if you find a day when the cruise ships don't come to Kefalonia you will probably have a much better experience.
It would be nice if the operators extended the shading during the busy season, we were here at the start of the season, way before it gets really busy, and were in the queue for at least 40 minutes before getting under the shade.
In the cave the temperature drops quickly. the deeper you traverse the tunnel the cooler it gets. At the end of the tunnel is the lake where you are taken onto a boat and guided across the lake and around the small island with a group of 8 to 16 people plus the boat pilot. The trip across the lake and around the remains of the island is about ten minutes from the time every is seated to the time you arrive back at the 'dock'.
The underground lake was visually stunning. You will probably have seen images of it on Google but it is really worth experiencing in person (keep in mind the cautions from the start of this review), you get the smells, sounds, feel, and spectacular visuals of which photos only show you a small slice.
History & mythology:
The cave has an interesting history that includes being a place of worship for the God Pan, the God of shepherds, flocks, open spaces, and sex. Archaeologists found evidence of worship on the island in the cave after the earthquake of 1953. The boat pilot spent time chatting and telling us some interesting facts about the cave as it is now, but what we really wanted was to hear about the history and mythology surrounding the cave.

Myrtos Beach is a picturesque and secluded stretch of sugar-white pebbles and cobalt-blue water surrounded by sheer limestone cliffs. It is located approximately 30km from the capital of Kefalonia, Argostoli, and has no noisy jet skis to detract from its serenity. The beach is famous for its breathtaking beauty, with Hollywood even taking notice in the film Captain Corelli's Mandolin.
Excellent beach, my no.3 favourite in Kefalonia (Petani no.1, Antisamos no.2). The waters are magnificent and there's a really long beach so there's room for everyone.
Now, there's a cantine at the beach not fancy but you can have a snack or coffee. Also there are sun beds 10-15 euros/pair + umbrella. I'd recommend to get a sunbed because the pebbles are really stiff if you lay on your beach towel.
Please IMPORTANT buy a wasp stick in case you encounter some of them. Due to vivid they found room and have multiplied.
Parking is tough in Myrtos, IMPORTANT I would advise you go early morning in order to secure a convenient spot close to the beach. Believe me it worth going there early.
About the wind now, IMPORTANT advise the weather forecast before visiting Myrtos. The wind might be strong and swimming might be impossible if not dangerous.
Hope this helps ⛱

This is a magnificent beach with truly crystal clean turquoise waters.
We visited in early June, and it wasn’t that busy, however it was busiest of the various beaches we went to so I suspect in high season it will be much busier.
We walked down from the main road, and it is a long walk down (and up!) but there are car parks at the bottom but I suspect you need to come early in high season. It is a relatively big beach so there is room on the beach for plenty of people before it would start to feel over-crowded.
Wonderful views of the beach on the drive down and worth stopping for some photos on the way down.
There aren’t lots of facilities, so it has a remote feeling about it even though its popular. There are toilets and facilities for drinks/snacks etc.

Loved this beach, it was so incredibly beautiful. The beach has the most vibrant white pebbles, which go out to the sea, so if you go in the sea take sea shoes for comfort. The sea also becomes very deep within a few meters so might not be appropriate for young children. It really is a stunning beach and sea. The drive down is very steep and beware of the goats.

Awesome beach covered with beautifull white round pebbles. One some days you can have quite strong and tall waves, really full to stay near the shore. Most people would find that using water shoes will improve your experience. The scenery is also nice as right behind the beach is a sloping mountain side and the water color is wonderfull. Top 3 beaches in Kefalonia for sure.

Went in may so not too busy on beach , or the road down. Imagine peak season will be different . Lovely caves at far south end. Toilets not open yet ( just dodgy portaloo), nor bar . Crystal clear waters and incredible view though. They aren’t lying about the pebbles. Strongly recommend taking beach shoes…I won’t lie, I crawled out of the sea on all fours!

large and nice beach. the water is really blue and nice but not good for snorkelling. the visibility is not so good. it's wavy and you can just lie and let the waves move you. very delicious. How to get there: we took the bus at 13:00 from Argostoli and back at 17:00. it costs approx. €5.3 per person per way. much better to travel by bus than by car. the bus stops right by the beach.

Stunning beach and a must see while spending time in Kefalonia. We missed a day trip on the boat to Ithaca and we were quite annoyed but decided to go here instead, we were not disappointed! Make sure to also check out the amazing cave and the underground entrance to the sea at the end of the beach, just be careful of the falling rocks!

The most spectacular beach in Kefalonia.
Accessible with any car, you can find parking spots right next to it the road is a bit narrow but manageable.
When the wind is strong there can be big waves and that's not for everyone. But when the sea is calm, it's absolutely amazing to swim in it.
You can also find sunbeds for rent, but their reed umbrellas aren't really making any shade.
There are also changing rooms, toilets and showers, very clean and useful.
There are small but also bigger pebbles, so the water shoes would be recommended.

This is a place to avoid in high season but wonderful out of. In Feb I had the whole beach to myself, in July could barely get the car down and back up. As a beach it’s pretty uncomfortable with the pebbles. There are much better swimming beaches in Kef. As plenty of others have advised take lovely pictures from above and avoid going to it in high season. If you are here out of season enjoy it. (Pics are from Feb)

The blue shades of the water are stunning. You need water shoes because the beach is full of rocks. We didn't bathe there because the waves were very strong and it was a red flag raised.

The mix of blue in the sea is unbelievable so beautiful! Definitely one of the most beautiful I've ever seen. You need beach shoes to walk here. If the tide is too high, the sea is very dangerous to enter, as it gets very deep in the first few meters, we didn't bathe or swim, but we could feel that the route was not cold, I hope to return another day with low tide to enjoy it more. Anyway, it's gorgeous! There's only 1 beach bar where you can rent a chair and table for €10 a set, it opens at 10am. The bar sells ready-to-eat snacks, cold drinks and ice cream. there is no food on site, only snacks, keep this in mind if you are going to spend the day or bring children. the toilets, showers and changing rooms are great. There are lifeguards on site. parking fills up fast, if you want to park on the beach, you have to get there early or get lucky. for sure the most beautiful beach in Kefalonia!

Ample pebble beach, surrounded by scenic limestone cliffs. Beautiful turquoise water.
There's a parking spot right next to the beach, as well as toilets, sunbeds for rent and a beach cafe.
On the side of the beach there's a cave but it was adviced against entering - maybe related with some of the last seismic activity.

Myrtos Beach in Kefalonia: Myrtos is, undoubtedly, one of the main poles of attraction in Kefalonia. It is located 29 km north of Argostoli, in a beautiful area around huge verdant hills. Myrtos has gained a worldwide reputation and has been constantly included in travel magazines among the most beautiful and impressive beaches in the world. It has been awarded many times for its cleanness and natural beauty.
The natural beauty of Myrtos is the trademark of Kefalonia and one of the most photographed places in Greece.
The beach has a semi-circular shape surrounded by impressive white rocky cliffs with lush vegetation on top of them creating a spectacular setting. The lush green area, the abrupt terrain, the white pebbles and the crystal waters compose a stunning scenery. The beach is well-organized to its most extent, with umbrellas and sundecks while a small part remains completely unspoiled, ideal for total isolation.
The western coast of Myrtos offers spectacular sunset views. visitors have direct access to a wide range of facilities and a nice snack bar offering cold drinks. Myrtos is easily accessed by all means of transport. While descending the beach, you will enjoy some amazing views from above.
The closest village to the beach is Divarata and offers a few accommodation options - mainly apartments and villas/houses, not hotels. Nonetheless, consider staying in the picturesque Assos, one of the most charming villages in the Ionian located a 20-minute drive away from Myrtos.
Enjoy!

I'll have to agree that this is one of the most spectacular beaches in Kefalonia and definitely one of our favourites during our visit. (We came twice in the end).
We went in June and we were surprised by the fact that being such a large beach it wasn't overcrowded at all.

I was absolutely stunned by this beach! It far surpassed my expectations.
We arrived for just before 9am. There were around 5 other groups on the beach at that time so we secured good sun loungers. We paid €10 for two loungers and an umbrella. There was also a drinks stand but we didn’t use it.
The water was crystal clear! It’s shingle so I’d recommend sea shoes. It also gets quite deep quite quick but you can see to the bottom.
Acheron, located in the Parga region of Thesprotia, is a stunning natural attraction known for its crystal-clear waters and breathtaking scenery. Visitors can enjoy activities such as rafting, kayaking, swimming, and horse riding along the river. Waters are cold at the start , but after awhile it does not matter. If you want to reach the end do not bring a bag with you because there is a spot that you must swim for about 29 meters and your stuff will be soaking wet. Rafting is for the kids as the river is so slow !!!

I got back to my car at one point, and as soon as I was about to step in, I heard some shout "RATE MY LEVEL ROBTOP" off in the distance. overall bad experience.

Series of waxwork dioramas created by sculptor Pavlos Vrellis & recreating events in Greek history.
This privately run museum was created by a single person, Pavlos Vrellis, who was passionate about Greek History. You will see several exceptionally made wax sculptures, representing several historical figures. The gruesome period before and after the Greek Independence War in 1821 is well represented.
While Greek people will be familiar with (most of) these personalities, there is very little background information in English. The tour guides will offer a few details, but it's a good idea to study the museum's comprehensive website before visiting.
Tickets cost 6 euros. Photography is explicitly not allowed, due to the grim nature of many of the exhibits.

It is an extraordinary museum, and the sculptures are so realistic. My kids were so thrilled and especially with the Greek and Turkish War exhibition sculptures. What have these people suffered for our freedom.....
Its a MUST see when you go to Ioannina.
A big THANK YOU to Mr. Vrelli 🙏🙂

The personages seems not so "real" and if you are "claustrophobic " its not a good idea to go here you are in the dark and it's cold and some personages move her eyes to look at you ... you don't feel so relax and you can not take photography and if you take the security gonna follow you on your back until the end like you have killed someone or like you have do the one abominable think it's stupid and crazy because in England you have the same thing and better with all the cinema star and you can take photos and touch the personages and it's seems more real it's stupid !

A well built and impressively staged collection of wax models, inspired by the Greek history. The way the exhibits are presented is original and really gets the visitor in the right mood.
On the other hand, there were at least two things I considered negative. The first one, is the lack of a guided tour, which is up to a point understandable because of the narrow spaces, the existence of lots of stairs and the details given on tags for each exhibit. As a result, although missing, I would not say that a guided tour is "needed" at least for the majority of visitors.
The most important drawback, in my personal opinion, is the prohibition of taking photos in the museum, for no obvious reason. Furthermore, the visitor is not informed for the prohibition in advance (when buying the ticket) but at the museum entrance, after he has already paid for it.
The whole prohibition makes the experience less complete and certainly does not help spreading the experience publicly.
Having visited many museums globally, this prohibition seems to be a bad "habit" in Greek museums, for no obvious reason.

A really interesting wax museum à la Tussaud's, limited to excellent life-sized dioramas of scenes from greek history. The historical context may perplex non-greeks, however the artistic value of the scenes makes it worth a visit. Please mind the short uphill walk from the car park to the museum.

The Lëkursi Castle and Restaurant is a historic site that boasts impressive circular towers, breathtaking panoramic vistas, and an expansive dining area. Visitors can enjoy the stunning decor and magnificent views while savoring delicious dishes from the restaurant's menu. While touring the castle, guests can also stop by the open eatery to grab some iced coffee for around 200 lek. It's a picturesque destination that offers both cultural intrigue and culinary delights.
We walked up from Sarande and we’re very glad that we did (although a bit of a hike, so may recommend driving if with small children etc.) The views are definitely worth it and although we didn’t stop for food/drink, the restaurant also looked lovely. You can get a 360 view of Corfu/Sarande and the valleys/coast - great for photos.

This place was amazing to visit. My partner and I got a taxi from town and the driver waited for us for 40 minutes and then drove us back into town. This cost us 20€ which was a great price to us.
The view is like nothing else. It's free to enter and look around, and there's a bar inside. They did food, but we only got coffees -- I had an iced latte while my partner had an iced cappucino. Had to wait a while because the machine had only just been turned on, but wasn't a problem as we just sat in the sun admiring the view. The only downside was that they only took cash and no card, and since we were visiting while on holiday in Corfu, we only had euros with us. This would have been more problematic had we bought a full meal, but luckily we only needed a small amount of cash for the coffees and they accepted euros. Deducting one star due to this as it was inconvenient. There's plenty of seating and the place was deserted except us and a couple doing a wedding photoshoot.
Would strongly recommend.

It was supposed to be a historical place, but it is modified completely in a restaurant. However, I went there in closing time so I cannot rate the dishes and services. Anyway, my 1 star is due to the monkey left alone in a cage. In Albania, I do not know if keeping wild tropical animal is allowed
alessia mongelli — Google review
Spectacular place at all times of day but best at sunsets. The 360 is just breathtaking from the mountain range north to the valley in the east the lagoon to the south and the sea and Corfu to the west. Its a small castle that has pretty much been turned into a restraunt. But you can also just get a drink and just enjoy the view.
The main way up via road is tarmacadam most of the way, but pity there is no obvious footpath up the western side.
Free entry too

We went at the start of May before the season started which luckily meant that the place when we visited was quiet. The castle offers an absolutely amazing view of Saranda. Highly recommended. I would have loved to have come at sunset. The entry is free. The road up there is steep and windy so I would recommend a car.
Kay — Google review
Quiet in the winter months but it's free which is a pleasant bonus. It's a nice walk up a narrow road off the main road. Plenty of parking places if you go by car. Some lovely views from the castle and there's a lighthouse on the way up and some old bunkers.

Nice view over the city. At evening there is a lot of people looking sunset and it's a nice place for it.
But please arrange proper cage for the monkey. It's heart breaking to see how does he/she live right now.

Beautiful sunset. We came off peak, so the quiet peaceful feeling is heavenly. Cool breezes yet it warms our hearts inside. Unforgettable.
Caspere — Google review
Great place to visit and have Saranda in the background with a glass of wine. Was nice to see traditional dancers and live music.
Unfortunately, the prices that they charge for the food quality need to improve. Most of our pasta and risoto dishes were overcooked. The raw seafood is not that fresh. At night, the high volume of the music doesn't let you enjoy the view or have a normal conversation with your companions.
The place also doesn't accept credit cards, only cash!
Gjergj Tr — Google review
A beautiful view of the city and the sunset is the perfect moment to visit it.
If you would also do something special you can stay at the restaurant, but I personally wouldn't because of the high prices, down there like 2 minutes there is a restaurant much more convenient with good food.
Federico — Google review
The two stars is completely for the beauty of the place. However, the restaurant wasn’t operating even though it was during the working hours posted online. Service was nonexistent, actually one customer thought I was an employee because there literally wasn’t any one else in there but me… I would have loved to actually try the food. Unfortunately, they didn’t even have the chef in the restaurant.
Anyhow, the restaurant itself is beautiful and the views are amazing.

The restaurant wasn’t open when we came, but the view was amazing! Also lots of these small bunkers around, so pretty interning to see and also very good as a photo spot
Florian Fußberger — Google review
A narrow but asphalt road leads to the top, there are several large parking lots along the way. You can easily cross it on foot. There is a beautiful castle at the top with an even more beautiful view. I recommend every vacationer visiting Sarande to pass this facility.

Amazing spot for sunset views and a nice dinner. We were surprised with how many tables there were, it’s a big terrace! We had the Lekuresit pasta and a sea fish dish. The prices are on the higher end compared to other Albanian restaurants. The only downside is that many people stay around the castle for pictures instead of eating, but the terrain is big enough with many different beautiful spots!

A stunning location to eat and watch the sunset over the city. When I visited it was still spring, so no one was dining outside as it was chilly. I imagine this place is bustling over the summer months! We got some tea to take out of the restaurant, the guy working was v helpful. Can’t comment on the food as we didn’t eat.

The cafe is really cheap so you can buy some drinks and enjoy some amazing sunsets from this place.
The Castle of Gjirokastra is a renowned landmark that overlooks the city and features military exhibits, a clock tower and a church. It has been in existence since the 12th century, with much of its current state dating back to the early 19th century. The castle was used as a prison during communist rule and is now open to visitors for an entrance fee of 200 Lek.
Great place to visit. Definitely worth checking out when you’re in the city. Adult ticket is 400Lek and another 200Lek for entering the museum itself. Gets busy during the day so choose the early hours.
Lots of descriptions, everything in English as well.
Well equipped and after full restoration will be even nicer.

Coming from this USA, this castle was pretty cool to see considering one of our planes from the cold War is there. You get to read about the history and see all of the views this castle had to offer plus the cannons. There isn't much inside the castle to look at. More waking around and taking in the views.

It’s a nice well preserved castle, the tour takes easily an hour if you go slowly.
You have a very good 360 view of the city around but also the big mountains, the river, and the valley which is very nice !
It’s a bit crowded, we were surprised, there was a small 10-15 min queue even to get in.
PREPARE YOUR CASH: it’s 400 Lek per person for the entrance ! That’s a shame, as we travelled around the country and this is the first paid attraction we do!

Must visit if you are in Albania
The views are amazing like right out of a postcard specially when the sky is clear and sunny!
The castle will take you back in time and even if you aren’t a history enthusiast you would be fascinated by reading some of the stories thats mentioned around the castle. We took our time checking out each and every corner which took us around hour and a half approx.
The entry fee inside the castle was like 800 lek for 2 people which im guessing is a tourist price but didn’t mind it after we got to see some spectacular views on a nice sunny day. We didn’t go inside the museum though which i guess would be charged extra.
But overall worth going here and then there is this picturesque old town right down the castle few steps away which is like the star of our trip till now.

Not a lot to do here, a lot of it was under construction. Lovely view from the top. Lots of cannons to see. Good way to waste an hour and a half max. Very cheap to enter. Toilet facilities are a bit rustic.

A huge castle to explore, full of cold war cannons, tanks and an abandoned US fighter jet. Well worth the steep approach! Allow about an hour to take in the views and read about the history while visiting the worthwhile museum. Definitely the highlight of this brilliant little town!

We had a wonderful experience visiting the castle! The location is truly beautiful and impressive. The ticket price of 4 euros per person is affordable, making the visit all the more enjoyable.
However, before we go, I want to warn you about the facilities available. Due to the fact that the location is dotted with cisterns, it is essential that you have a bottle of water with you that you can refill during your visit, especially as the location is vast and you will need water along the way.
Also note that before entering the Old Town, there is a paid underground parking lot to leave your car. Make sure you have valid coins or payment methods to avoid inconvenience.
Another important point to mention is that the location has no safety fences, which means you need to keep a close eye on children to avoid accidents.
All in all, the castle is definitely worth visiting due to its beauty and reasonable ticket price. Be prepared with water for the visit and make sure to look after the little ones. However, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time exploring this impressive location!

Typical place for tourists but no worries travelers......worth to pop in. The castle is amazing, well preserved....history went over this place and left a treasure here. Loads shops around to buy something typical and loads restaurants to relax and have something nice for your belly. View are amazing there. I m not fun of touristic spots but from time to time it s good to learn about people and their roots, what created them, their culture and habits. You ll see if you see this place.....will be definitely welcome.

Enjoyed the walk up to the castle and the entrance fee was 400ALL each, that however was only for the castle as there was another fee for the museum of Arms, which was 200ALL. We found this frustrating as we asked before paying what ticket we needed . They could just charge 600ALL as you cannot get into the museum without entering the castle.
The castle was very good lots of renovation work being carried out, it will be amazing once finished. Some information boards with English which was good.
The views were fantastic .

Most recently used during communist era of Albanian history to imprison and destroy, it is a somber, yet fascinating place with at least 1500 years of history layered in its foundations and walls. The view from the top of the walls is incredible. The outer arches which once contained the markets and displayed artisan wares spike the imagination. The sheer amount of stone in this enormous castle is mind blowing. Definitely worth the visit, the history, the views, the reflection and imagining.

Amazing experience. It requires a good walk uphill to get there. However, there may be a better way to drive there for those with difficult mobility.
We paid 200 LEK each for entrance in September.
This is really cheap for the size of the place and how interesting it is.
It lacks some explanation around the history, and guided tours were not available. However, it was not an issue as the views and the information available made this visit one of the highlights of our trip.

Central large open square with the famous slanderbeg statue as well as the natural history museum, opera and the I love tirana. Because the square is so large it never seemed crowded eventough many people, both tourist and locals, crossing it every day. It's an good starting point to and from eitber busses to airport, the mountains or other parts of the city; to the parks and shopping streets; or to the suburbs.
A central point like this really gives something extra to a city and there's a lot of history there. Esthetically maybe not the most beautiful square, however I loved the stones that were used and the square resembles the complex albanian history making it an important place and starting point of your journey in Tirana.

This was the third time that I have visited here Albania, Tirana and Skanderbeg Square, but most likely on new year, I haven't seen such thing, especially that fireworks 🎇 Really amazing, mesmerizing, unbelievable. Couldn't even sleep that night, there were many activities and events during that week. But of course most important is Balkan atmosphere.. I wasn't expecting that much but really was cool. Even in summer and winter, only disadvantage is you need to do stock especially when you are visiting as tourist and will stay in hostel or in a flat. 😅
I highly recommend you to visit any time you want, although there are some restricted things to do in Tirana but certainly you will have great time, take every opportunity. Foods as well and many amazing cafés & restaurants. Try traditional cuisine as well :)

Located in the heart of Kotor's old town, Hostel Old Town Kotor offers dorms and private rooms with free Wi-Fi. The hostel is a sympathetic renovation of an old palace, and it features a bar and pool table. There are also guided tours available for guests interested in learning more about the history of Kotor.
We had an excellent stay. It’s a near perfect hostel, very social yet quiet enough to sleep well at night, and at very reasonable rates. The group outings/trips are definitely worth it, they were a highlight of my travels. It’s not a hostel for cooking meals, but everything else is rock solid. The staff even went way above and beyond for me to do me a favor when I had a bit of an emergency.

The rooms and hostel itself were great, affordable and easy to find. However I would like to make people (esp female solo travellers) aware that the current receptionist knows no such thing as boundaries, very touchy and even when I assured I wasn't interested i still felt harassed and uncomfortable. As far as I'm aware he is the head volunteer, but if management are reading I would consider looking out for the safety of your guests as this man clearly targets young girls while travelling.

A social hostel in the heart of old town. The sunset barbecue (9 euros) was great and there is a common room in reception where people hang out. The only issue I had was the amount of noise from the street outside the dorm, as well as the clock chiming and the church bells ringing through the morning. I would also recommend the hostel takes cards and not cash only. Good fun and would book again.

Had a great stay here while visiting Kotor. I visited in late November and the room had comfortable beds and curtains for privacy. The hostel added an extra blanket to each bunk and we could also control the heat so the room was nice and cozy and warm overnight. Super clean bathroom (really hot shower!) and clean communal kitchen as well. Ali and Kiara are very friendly and helpful, and the lady who came in middle of the day to clean (I forgot to ask her name, oops) went above and beyond to come find me to return me a small bag I had forgotten in the room when I left. Truly amazing service! The location is also perfect.

The location is amazing, Kotor has one of the most interesting old towns I've seen. The bathrooms were clean, the beds were comfortable and with curtains. The hired staff and management were very friendly and accommodating. The Aussie volunteers of November 2023 do NOT like Americans; One of them went on and on about it in the lobby. (apparently because of our accent, it was quite uncomfortable) It's not really management's fault though, and it is a great hostel overall.

The best place to stay in Old Town!!!! Rooms, bathrooms and kitchen very clean, hot shower 24h, amazing staff.
Everybody is friendly, nice and welcoming 🫶
One of the best hostels I've stayed so far!
And the manager Milan is an extraordinary guy, he speaks Spanish!!! So if this is your native language you can have a good conversation with him!!! You won't regret staying here, just the best!!!

During my recent stay in the heart of the old town, I found this hostel to be a good experience. The location couldn't have been better, right in the middle of the old town's charm. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which added to the overall positive vibe.
The well-equipped kitchen was a plus, making it convenient for those who prefer to cook their own meals. The rooms were clean and had curtains for some privacy. The common room was comfy and provided a great place to relax.
However, I have to mention a few downsides. It was a bit on the expensive side for an out-of-season hostel, which might not suit budget travelers. The temperature of the showers was a bit unpredictable, ranging from ice-cold to scorching hot, which was a bit of a nuisance. Also, keep in mind that they only accept cash for payment.

Perfect hostel. Even though I actually booked a 4 dorm room the gave me the 8 dorm room. The location is absolutely perfect! In the old town and not far from the bus station and the sea. The staff is friendly and the kitchen is really good equipped.

Lovely volunteers who were genuinely nice and helpful! Gave me good tips on places to go explore and places to eat. Beds are so per comfy and the showers are hot! Will be coming back here at some point for sure.
The immaculate Ostrog Monastery, constructed in the 17th century as a site for pilgrimage to Saint Basil of Ostrog, was restored in the 1920s. It is situated on an impractical and miraculous cliff face that towers 900m above Zeta valley. This site is highly significant for Orthodox Christians in Montenegro and draws up to one million visitors every year including tourists, pilgrims, and souvenir vendors.
Regardless if you religious or not...
Very nice place, wonderful view.
Visited in February, not much traffic, but I guess that in the busy season...
Few minutes from there an excellent restaurant & view (terrace pic) , Sokoline.

Getting to the top of the mountain where the monastery is located is a challenge whether by car or by foot. The amount of tourists visiting in April was not too bad. We didn’t have to wait very long to visit St. Basils reliquary or the remaining temples carved into the caves. If you are in the area it is a beautiful day trip.

It was a nice visit and opportunity to learn more about Montenegro and its culture but from just a tourist viewpoint it was not worth the hassle to get there - if you look for amazing views, there are better places to visit - it is difficult to get there.
Families or disabled people can reach the top by car, others must park their car a bit lower and climb some stairs (quite a few). As those steps are really really slippery, wear proper shoes! There are railings by the stairs which help a lot.

We went on a Sunday so it was quite busy and the line to enter the monastery was maybe an hour long. Be prepared to wait in line in the sun, so bring water and a scarf or sun screen to cover from the direct sunlight. There are water fountains available at the monastery with fresh cold water.
A bit of a hike up the hill, especially if the main car park is full and you have to leave your car downhill.
A religious location so your appreciation of the experience may depend accordingly. Very spiritual and beautiful though, whatever religion you may be involved with. Please remember to respect the location in your dress and behaviour.
Quite small in the end but worth the visit.

Definitely worth visiting when you’re in Montenegro - whether you’re religious or not! The building is gorgeous, and the views are amazing. It wasn’t as busy as most of the touristy places during the summer (we went in August). We took a train from Podgorica to Ostrog, and then did the hike up the mountain. We were surprised that not that many people chose this option (we only met 1 person on the way), but it’s a 1,5-2h hike so fair enough. Worth doing it for the views 😉

Did not feel like this was worth the 2hr drive from budva and back. Nice view of the valley but that's it. I'm sure it has more historic or religious significance to locals. Mostly just the exterior you see, nothing inside to see or explore, except one small part that everyone lines up to go in and pray/touch probably some holy significance. Also you will need to walk up several sets of stairs from new parking region. About 10-15 min.

A beautiful monastery high up on the side of the hill, below the cliffs.
Surprisingly busy, even during what should be lower season. I imagine in the summer this place is fairly mobbed.
Absolutely stunning mosaics at the top near the bell tower.
Well worth a visit.

An amazing piece of architecture perched up a hill and tucked within the rocks. It's a wonderful walk up from Ostrog Railway Station although I've heard you can walk up from Dabovichi too. It's on the sunny side of the hill so even in winter and when there's snow on the ground in Niksic it's clear enough to walk up safely. Plenty of time to get up, have a really good look round and walk back down in time for the trains running between Niksic and Podgorica.

Any critic who is giving this below 5 stars is a lunatic!
One, the views from the top are incredible. You see fantastic mountain ranges, filled with greenery, it is mesmerising.
Two, the architectural magnificence of this is similar to Petra, in Jordan. Built into the wall, it is insanity.
Third, it gives you a few steps in the day when you walk up and it's free to visit.
You drive up, park, the walk some flights of stairs. Some people find that a hassle, we are looking at 6-8 minutes of walking, nothing major. People have grown too accustomed to accessibility, but I digress!
Fun fact: they say it is a miraculous place due to the ivy growing out of the rock on the mountain, as "nothing should grow from pure rock". There is probably a scientific explanation for it, but still fun.
I'd recommend visiting.

There’s not a lot to see inside. The best part is the outside. It being built into the rock is the most intriguing part of this monastery. There are good views of the valley from here. Be aware the drive here is not easy, it’s a very narrow road with a cliff off to the side that has blind corners. I wouldn’t drive here in bad weather. There is parking at the very top. You might see a large parking lot which is essentially the overflow but from here it’s a very long walk uphill. Before you come to this parking lot there is a road off to the right that continues up the hill. It had a partial barricade as if you can’t drive through it but you can. The road leads to a smaller parking lot which is very close to the monastery. The parking is free.

Small still functioning monastery that sits in the side of a rock face high up the mountain side. Take care to select the new road up there as the old is terrifying.
You’ll be expected to be covered so they may not let you in with shorts and T-shirts although we had no issue.
As you go in, the small section at the furthest point is where you can get blessed. We weren’t aware of this and kind of got funnelled into the process.
There’s little information about the structure and history which is a shame, and we thought a coffee shop (it’s a long walk up) would be available but the space is all taken up with memorabilia and gifts. Whilst it’s from the 15th century it’s much more contemporary in its finish and must have a significant restoration or rebuild.
Be aware the site is very small. The car park is huge with toilets. There’s no coffee shops in the area only restaurants.

The place is amazing, more of a Pilgrim place it’s not that accessible if you come here with a Public transportation. From the Train Station, the hike is atleast an hour, and that is an uphill hike, going through a Forest that you barely see houses. I came here with the Train, was not a good idea going here when it starts to get dark, luckily going back, there was Taxi, with that way I took, had no plans to hike back in darkness. Maybe it wasn’t a bad idea to hitchhike.

i’m not a religious person but the energy of this place was absolutely overwhelming (in a good way). you could feel centuries and centuries of history that surrounds this magnificent place. i think everyone needs to visit this monastery at least once.

This is a very narrow and busy road going from main road to the monastery. When we arrived to the car park, we had to walk for around 15 minutes which is fine but there were a lot of people. There was a big queue to the main holy place. I guess, for people interested in this particular place, it must do. We found it very busy which shows how important this place is.

The monastery is a majestic place carved into rock. It’s really hard to imagine how they managed to build this in the 17th century. The views from the top are super nice and we also liked the body exercise of climbing the stairs to the top.
As we came from Podgorica we found the organized tours really expensive (about 150 € / person) so we arranged a taxi ride to the lower monastery with our hotel. This cost us 30 € in total. From there we went to the monastery and after our visit we hiked all the way down to the Ostrog train station from where we took the train back to Podgorica. We could also have taken the train to the monastery in the first place but the train schedule did not really fit into our personal schedule.

There’s only so much that you can see inside, however the outside view is very pleasant. I wouldn’t go out of my way to see this place(respectfully). Right now(November) the main road is under construction so you have to pay 1€ to go up(optional)

Amazing architecture and view. The road is long to get there. I went with a group tour.Must see attraction in Montenegro . Not allowed to take photos inside the monastery. And we saw a 300 years old dead body of the founder of the monastery . Don’t go in the weekend it will be crowded

The most beautiful place from our roadtrip while visiting Montenegro. Architecture, small villages, architecture and you can swim almost everywhere. Prices are a bit lower than in other cities. Would definitelly stay next timw longer to have a boat trip and explore other parts of the bay. Highly recommend to come hear and enjoy the nature and peace.

The most beautiful city in Montenegro. Incredible landscapes of the Bay of Kotor and the amazing Old Town! I recommend coming to this city for an excursion, if possible on your own, as here you will not be able to see everything in 2 hours! This place is worth spending the whole day! There are paid parking lots where you can park your car, the cost per 1 hour is from 1€ to 2€. To see the Bay of Kotor - rent a boat 40€-45€ for 1 hour. There are a lot of cafes on the territory of the Old Town, if you plan to have lunch - the average check for 2 people is 30€-40€.

Ten days of staying in the Bay of Kotor is absolutely not enough to see and feel all the beauties of this unique part of nature in beautiful Montenegro. So let the photos speak more than a thousand words.

I stayed there with my brothers. We had the loft to ourselves. The oner is very nice, the place is set in a beautiful location and the zipline starts from this place, we had a discount as we stayed here. It is only 5 minutes ride to the restaurants in Tara bridge.

Horrible!
Misleading information because the host writes on booking that she has a shared bathroom but does not say the bathroom is on another floor.
Ground floor bathroom and upstairs rooms. a very narrow and dangerous ladder.
You basically live in someone's house in the atic and you wash yourself on the ground floor, IF it is current water. I was not so lucky.
Plastic doors and plastic walls. Very small rooms. Avoid at all costs.

Paper thin walls. You can not take a rest if you not alone in the house. No key for the door lock.
