This was one of the best wilderness experiences we've ever had.
The team at Riverland Outdoor Activities are the most organised, professional and safety-conscious in the area.
Above all, they're friendly, knowledgeable and go out of their way to make sure their customers have a great day.
These are the things that were important to us that we want to share:
If you're kayaking, The Riverland Team provide wetsuits, thermal protection and life vests. These are all in excellent condition and are cleaned with an antibacterial solution after every use, for at least 24 hours, which we were very relieved to hear.
Be mindful of your valuables and anything that you would be devastated to lose in the water. The Riverland Team provide watertight containers that will protect your things. The guides will take plenty of photos for you and will share them with you via email inclusive with your ticket fee. The Nestos River has many different sections and certain currents can be unpredictable and can flip you into the water, which is an experience in itself! If that happens, be cool, the guides are experts and will help you.
Included in the ticket fee, the team also provide snacks, tea/coffee and a light lunch all which are fresh and catered to dietary needs.
Overall, these people are the best at what they do. Trust your day out with them and you will have a great time. To our guides Christina and Ioanna, thank you!

Booked online which works perfectly, we got called back soon and the details were cleared.
Nice welcome at riverland center, transfer to the starting point with our guide dimitri took approx. 1h, but the flew by because dimutri was telling us, a lot of the country.
Quick but precise introduction
The landscape and the river are great landscapes, a must see
Special thanks to our guide dimitri. It was a pleasure to be on tour with gim. He always takes care of all tour members, tells you everything about the river and its fauna and flora.
The rests are something very special. A table, the meal nicely presented. You can drink coffee if you want!!!
Summary: a great nature experience, also for the not so experienced kayaker.
Tipp: book riverland and dimitri as tour guide!

Now that was fun!! 🤩 We were looking for a special holiday activity for us and our two 14 y/o teenagers, and found the Nestos Rafting Tour to be the perfect combination of enjoying the beautiful Greek nature with a splash of adventure. And we weren't disappointed! The booking process via telephone with Christina was perfect, all our questions were answered and a pdf with all relevant infos sent beforehand - including a Google Maps link for the meeting point in Paranesti. There, we were greeted by the super friendly staff, and our Captain for the day, Georgios, even spoke German. After having been supplied with life vests, helmets and neoprene shoes (we were also offered full body neoprene suits, but we thought the 9 °C Nestos water would be refreshing on a 37 °C day 😉).
So off we went in a trusty vintage Mercedes mini bus (which originally must have served in the Netherlands in the previous millenium, as some window stickers read 'Nooduitgang'), and after a short ride of about 10 mins we arrived at the cool and shady river bank where we'd embark for our journey. With us was another family of four from Cyprus - including their grandma of about 75 years! (To say it in advance: She also enjoyed the trip, and arrived with us safe and all smiles in Paranesti. So you see this tour is really doable for almost everyone).
Georgios gave us a thorough instruction, and even as first time rafters we felt fit and ready to conquer the Nestos river then 🏴☠️.
We hopped into the boat, did a quick practice round in calm waters - and started our 9 km trip downstream.
To make an almost too long story short: It was a fantatstic experience! Thanks to Georgios in the back, we always felt safe, had fun in the waves and enjoyed the calm passages and the quiet.
While most of the time the river does the job, some rowing by the crew is required, appr. for about 1/3 of the time. So the water bottles supplied by Riverland were much appreciated. Though the air on the river is nice and cool, often with a light breeze, the Greek sun still does its job - so don't forget a proper sunscreen 🌟
We say thanks to the Riverland team for the great day - we're sure we'll try another experience in the future!

Great activities from a well-organized and professional team. The location at Nestos river is breathtaking and guarantees a unique and rewarding outdoor experience no matter what you choose. Highly recommended for tourists and locals alike!
Old Town's cobblestone streets are lined with Byzantine Greek churches, Ottoman mosques, and neoclassical mansions of tobacco merchants, some transformed into landmarks like the Town Hall and the Folk & History Museum. Alfresco cafes and pubs cluster around bustling Antika Square, a short walk from green spaces by the Kosynthos River. The Old-Town Festival at the end of summer features live music and street food.

A truly spectacular creation of mother nature! Incredibly beautiful. The path from the 1st waterfall is a bit slippery at some point, so make sure you have good shoes.
Nikos Katris — Google review
The road is absolutely horrible. Flat tire on the way up. Road keeps going past the point marked for the trail. No indicator the trail starts here, although there seems to be some trail, who knows with all the goats if it's theirs or human trail? Also no indication there is any water in this area, is it seasonal? Am I in the wrong place? How would one know?
Now the joy of finding someone on the island that will drive up this horrid road to replace the tire.
Edit: while waiting the hour(?) for the tire repair, I decided to be adventurous and see if I could take the trail. Not sure if time of year or what, but there are massive fields of tall ferns that seem to obscure the trails. Followed trails that seemed to go the right direction, but eventually hit a grove of trees that had no obvious trail to it, and due to the heat and hopefully impending tire repair, cut my losses and turned around.
To the guy who did this in flip flops, my hat is off to you. If this is the trail, I would have given up immediately

Such a mirific place. The first waterfall is the best one in my opinion. You can swim in both. The second one is colder.
Mircea Puq — Google review
Our hike to the waterfall was an unforgettable adventure, which took us just over an hour to complete. Although we got lost a few times and had to navigate through thorn bushes and ankle-deep water, the experience was still delightful.
Starting off the journey, there were several paths that branched out in different directions, with no clear signage to indicate which one to follow. But we persevered and stuck to the trail closest to the river, stopping for rest breaks along the way. Eventually, we saw painted spots on rocks, which proved to be our guide halfway through the trek.
To make the journey more comfortable, it's highly recommended to wear sturdy shoes and carry some water.
As we reached our destination, we were delighted to see the stunning waterfall and decided to take a dip in the pool at its base. However, we were taken aback by the number of people swimming in the nude.
nail çağrı yıldırım — Google review
Stunning place. Very cold water! So many high rocky surfaces where you can climb (not that hard) and jump in the water from 5 to 15 meters! Worth the visit! Try to go there early because at 12:00 - 17:00 is sooo crowded. Also the path is very hard after the 1st fonias vathra! So be prepared and take athletic shoes with you! Dont forget cold water and something to eat because after you reach there you ll stay there for hours just looking this stunning place!

Even though the name screams horror the place screams harmony and ambience!

Lighthouse of Alexandroupoli
Historical landmark
Sights & Landmarks
Tall, white beacon with a fountain at its base, a city landmark constructed by the French in 1880.
The must of the must in Alexandroupoli! It’s nice to visit day and night.
Maria Ach — Google review
Great atmosphere, if you take a walk in the area at dusk. We had some extra dark chocolate ice cream from an ice cream shop called "I love Gelato" and took a stroll along the sidewalk nearby the lighthouse. The place is simply full of life during the summer months!

Very nice place Alexandroupolis. Visited! Ull love it! So why not five stars? Cause the town must be visited not between 15 June and 20 August, because u cant move... thats crowded it is.

Attractive place but on the 30th of August which is a joliday for lightjouses in Greece and they are supposed to be open yo the public, the government decided to keep them closed.

The highlight of Alexandroupolis town. One of the most lovely lighthouse of Greece.
Giannis Prodromidis — Google review
Very busy town, with loads of motorbikes and vehicles. However, not good at all for the disabled that use wheelchairs or mobility scooters, No lower curbs, therefore only possible to be on the roads.
Ana Stoyanova — Google review
Only from outside you can see this tower. But its a nice place for drinking something outside in the summer
Marlies Spronk — Google review
We were in Alexandroupolis to welcome the year 2023. There was a special festive spirit. At noon on 12/31, people had brought small grills out into the street, grilling meat and drinking wine.
Milanka Aleksandrova — Google review
It is in a fabulous setting, backed by the bright blue sea. I didn't go in but enjoyed the view. There wasn't any visible queue for tickets. Behind me were a medley of restaurants and coffee shops. In the summer there are also several ice cream shops. Well worth a visit even in winter, better though in May or June and in the autumn. Most people find it too hot in summer.
Rita Williams — Google review
There is a very wide sidewalk along the sea, which is a few kilometers long. It is full of tables from restaurants and coffee shops, it has much space for cycling or walking. The view is amazing, especially at sunset. Visit TripAdvisor to find the best restaurants, which have both greek and eastern cuisine.

Great time spent here. Moment of reflection for the legendaries, braveries and patriotism of a people led by the strong faith in their heart and readiness to sacrifice their lives and souls for the future of only their people but all the marginalised and underprivileged people of the world. This peninsula witnessed a war where all the odds were against the Turks but their faith and bravery won them a legend unequalled anywhere in the history of the world.
Muhammed Abdullah — Google review
It is a great location in the history of WW1 and Turkish history as well. It can be done on a single day from Istanbul. The presence of a good guide I think is essential, since it is difficult to be appraised of the entire history of events or their significance.
Alex Fitzpatrick — Google review
The weather was the coldest it has been since we began our journey in May. We had only been in Turkey for a day and we were so close to the Peninsula we had to come. So pleased we did. We visited the memorials and cemeteries of the fallen. It was extremely moving . The road around the peninsula is good and the route easily trod.
Boats busily coming and going up and down the Dardanelles make a rumble as they pass, somehow comforting at night . It's easy though to put yourself into the horror of the battles that raged here and the many lives lost for such a lovely place
Wendy Gray — Google review
I lived in Australia and New Zealand for a few years and Gallipoli is almost a founding myth in those respective countries.
It was fascinating to come here and see the place and battle(s) I heard so much about.
What was really interesting was also to see it from Ottoman/Turkish perspective. What's amazing about the whole complex is how the winning side the Turks have almost dedicated it to losing side renaming the landing area to Anzac cove etc. I can't think of anywhere else where such a thing has happened.
I did a tour which you almost have to do. It's a big site so walking and local buses are not a realistic prospect. It was really hot so bring water and sunscreen but most of all if you have heard of Gallipoli and have any interest in it absolutely worth a visit.
Robert Cooke — Google review
The trip of my life! I wanted to visit the gallipoli peninsula all my life. Now that I got here and I attended a tour program I get to learn all that I wanted to learn first handedly. The weather is good but could be better. So maybe later in May or even June is better timing for the Gallipoli visit. The tour costs only ₺70 per person lunch included.

Be proud sons of Turks. Our ancestors' legacy lies here!
Best place to bring your children, teach them our glorious history and grow their love and respect for Mustafa Kemal ATATÜRK, the greatest leader of all times.

A site of historical importance of modern times and a reminder to all that war and aggression at any level dose not achieve anything in the long run.
Michael Golden — Google review
Should be visited. This national park is very good to visit for students and who like historical and memorial places.

I see most of the historical places here, very emotional... to bad other tourists were making jokes and yelling around. But some of them were praying, which is very nice.
The Ancient City of Troy is a significant historical site, known for its scattered stone ruins and a replica Trojan horse. It offers visitors an immersive experience, complete with informative displays that provide insight into the city's history and period. The surroundings are tranquil, with cheerful birdsong and playful squirrels adding to the ambiance. The ancient stones that make up the ruins are an impressive sight and should not be missed by anyone in the area.
Really fascinating. I really didn't know what to expect when I arrived but when I started the journey it turned out to be fantastic! Very informative at every interval and the ancient stone is a sight to see. It's definitely a must visit if you are near.
B P — Google review
The site represents the ruins of the city of Troy uncovered since the first archeological expedition in 1832. It is still a work in progress so don’t have high expectations: no impressive walls or great buildings yet. The Trojan horse was under construction so no pictures there.
Octav V — Google review
If you are interested in history, this is a must. It doesn’t have the grandeur of some other ancient sights; however, it’s fascinating. As it doesn’t have that immediate ‘wow factor’, I would highly recommend getting a tour as the guide adds charterer and stories to what you are looking at which I loved.
Natasha Venizelos — Google review
World famous historical remnants from BC 1000. Be advised to get a local guide to get the best oıt of this experience. The facility is well taken care with sign and posts but still you need more support. Entry fees for foreigners @27€ and 60₺ for TR citizens. Loads of good souvenirs at the shop to bring back home, good prices as well
Serkan Solmazer — Google review
It was an incredible experience, seeing the excavation sites and reading the information board to better understand and visualise what it was, from which period etc.
The surroundings were serene with birds chirping merrily and squirrels running around the relics. I would certainly return.
Amirah Iqbal — Google review
Place of history and interesting architecture from ancient times. Paired with ticket to the Museum there is plenty to see and discover. This place has a good shop where you can browse for city related items and textbooks about the history. Recommended to visit both the site and the museum for the full experience.
Kristijan Apostolski — Google review
It was an amazing visit! We got there at noon and was so disappointed that the Trojan horse replica is being repaired but when we started walking around, we realized how remarkable the ruins are! Incredible that we are able to understand what transpired thousands of years ago in this same site!
We used our Muze Kart so we went in for free, the cafe is a great spot to sit in and freshen up.
ROSARIO UNTALAN — Google review
Very nicely organized plase. Accurate updates about the condition in Google maps. It has all, and it is clean and could be reached by wheelchairs. Staff is friendly and ready to help. Nice, wide parking place.
Letim Mollov — Google review
If you are interested in history and archaeology, this place is definitely worth visiting. We spent about 2 hours here because there was a lot of ruins and information to digest. The parking costs 20 Lira. There is a small cafe inside. The horse is under construction but it is not the real deal here anyway.
Chia-chen Lehahn — Google review
Came here this morn amidst heavy showers and howling winds. Although it is opened at 8am, they only came at 8.30am to open for us to enter. As it is an open air museum, rain can posed a problem when visiting. The model horse was not open for visiting.
Jun Yea Chai (dLOFT architects) — Google review
It was very nice to see the ruins of a city that was once very big and great. The museum was very nice but too far away to just walk. We got two taxis that would bring us there for 2 hours for 1000 lira total and they also brought us to the museum. Make sure to bring enough water because it's very hot
Lieve Heres — Google review
All I knew previous to this visit was the story of the Trojan Horse. What an amazing history and cultural education that is missed by not knowing the rest of the story. The city has 6,000 years of history and 10 separate layers of different periods of occupancy. Sadly for me the replication of the Trojan Horse was being restored during my visit so I could not see what the archaeologist rendition of the horse looked like as it was hidden behind a curtain.
Dennis Schuster — Google review
If you’re into ancient archeological sites from antiquity, this place is a must see. The views of the surrounding plains from the mountain top are magnificent. It’s a definite treat for people who have read the Iliad or watched movies about Troy. You can really visualize and imagine how the ancient wars against this city would have taken place. Also once you see how tall and wide the Ancient walls of the city were, it becomes clear why aggressors weren’t able to penetrate it.
Kaan Uz — Google review
It is a much larger area than I expected. It appears that excavation work is still in progress. There is need for further development in providing information about the site. The walking platform is good, taking you on a circle tour around the site. Apart from these, the view is amazing.
ismail alacaoğlu — Google review
Came here in September with a tour group.
If you have heard of Troy or the Trojan Horse this place is a must.
Although this ancient city is in ruins and nothing like the impressive Ephesus ancient city, it is still worth exploring the large site.
The Trojan Horse display unfortunately was under repair when we were there.
Google Lum — Google review
Went as part of a tour. It is a long day trip from Istanbul. I would do the 2 day package and combine Gallipoli if I had known in advance. Guide was full of knowledge. Interesting place to visit.
The actual horse from the movie Troy is not here but in a nearby town.
lisa kim — Google review
They’ve documented ten different settlement periods here over the span of 4,000 years. All these eras are exposed on the site at one point or another. Your expectations are too high if you’re expecting some cohesive, easily readable structure.
The setting is pretty majestic: it’s this high point surrounded by low lying farmland. Off in the distance at the horizon line you can make out a few burial mounds attributed to some of the heroes of the Iliad.
The fantastical tales of Greek literature from antiquity, as told by Aristophanes and Aeschylus or Euripides and Sophocles, are all rooted in this city of Troy and the epics of Homer. So coming here was such a thrill.
Matthew Femiani — Google review
Troy was incredible. The myths surrounding it really bring it to life and seeing each layer of the historic cities is fascinating. The nearby town of cannakale has the trojan horse set piece from the movie troy. A great end to a memorable day.
Bharthi kaur — Google review
I’ve dreamed about this place since I’ve read Iliad, Odyssey by Homer and Greek treasure by Irving Stone. It was really nice. Don’t expect too much it was hidden under the soil around 1000 years. But it’s great that now it’s possible to see this. Also I saw squirrels, five squirrels— five stars
Matthew D.D. — Google review
The site is in ruins as a lot still needs excavating. The replica of the trojan horse was disappointing as it was being restored (looked like it hadn't been worked on for a long time. You can get a picture of what the trojan horse might look like at the gift shop.
Lionel — Google review
I saw a review that said it wasn't worth it because it was just rocks and not much to see. Admittedly this will be more enjoyable if you're an archeologist or an avid fan of the tale, you can't always visualize yet if you pay attention or have a guide you can certainly appreciate the city. Also saw my first ever squirrel here and that definitely deserves its own star

Truva altı sokak, 17100 Tevfikiye/Çanakkale Merkez/Çanakkale, Türkiye
The Military Marine Museum is a vast indoor and outdoor venue that showcases historical sailing vessels, cannons, and other military artillery. The museum includes exhibits on the Canakkale war, Cimenlik Castle, and the Nusret Mine Ship. While admission for students is free, adults must pay 13 Liras to enter. Visitors can expect to spend around two hours exploring the fascinating displays inside the museum.
The museum is inside the Ottoman castle, Çimenlik Kalesi, which used to be our destination to spend time by the seaside sitting on a bench in the good old days. Now you get access only by buying a ticket, which is sad. Yet inside the castle, they created a great atmosphere of memories of Canakkale Battle. Inside the castle, you may spend some relaxing time even though you don't like the war stuff, because the castle is really beautiful under the dim yellow light.

good museum. the fortress is worth seeing. we spent 2 hours there with the kids. there is a real periscope. one drawback - the employee refused to sell a ticket for 60 lira for a residence permit. he said that a ticket for 60 lira is only for a citizen of the Turkish Republic. In my opinion, he is selfish. I ask the museum management to have a conversation with the person who sells tickets at the entrance to the museum. otherwise the museum is excellent.

We paid 200tl even with museum cards and residence permits. It worth it. It’s not only open air area, you also can go to the castle and learn about its history. However, it’s impossible to go to the top of the castle

It was an incredible experience, but some parts were closed, the tickets were cheap, I loved the experience, because it also has access to Nusret Mayın ship, I strongly recommend to visit, it takes approximately 2 hours.

A great place for everyone interested in the historical events.
It is full of the historical legacy of the ottoman era and the Turkish Navy.

200TL for tourists (combined castle/museum/nusret) but absolutely worth it. We were hoping to understand the conflict from the Turkish perspective and this was very helpful, particularly the art collection on the top floor which we loved. Thank you in particular to the kind man who guided us around the nusret in excellent English, he really made a huge difference.
Hannah Cleaver — Google review
Very big museum. Includes Nusret Mine Ship, Çimenlik Castle and Çanakkale war stuffs. Entrance price is 13 Liras for adults. Free for students. (2021). The only thing that I didn't like; you have to pay for taking photos 26 Liras...
Kaan Usta — Google review
This is partly an open air museum with an impressive collection of military items related to the 1915 Çanakkale battle.
The courtyard and the view over the straight must be very nice during warm season, although one can enjoy it in winter as well.
Most of the museums in Türkiye have either free entrance or a priced ticket (different price for locals and foreign tourists).
As a foreigner, the ticket price is equivalent to 6€ only.
Veronica B. — Google review
Great museum. With a very beautiful park. Definitely visit this place. A gift shop present nearby the entrance gate, between the conference hall. The park is free of charge to enter. The ticket booth at the entrance sells the tickets for the castle and the ship.

Awesome ruins with a cool underground tunnel. The theater is also very nice. Very open to exploring, not much is blocked off.
Charles Vega — Google review
I walked up the hill to the site. I walked slowly and it took 45 minutes. The views were really nice. The site itself was enormous. I recommend that you walk down the antique road to the middle and lower parts of the old city. Very few people walked down there so I had it all to myself. The mosaic in Building Z was really interesting. I did a lot of research before I visited to help me understand the building ruins but you could hire an audio guide (I didn't)
Sam Millichap — Google review
This is amazing place. Small enough but very interesting. Worth while getting a guide or getting audio device.
Paulius Peldzius — Google review
The temple is fascinating! It has such a rich history and offers a blend of wellness, entertainment, and cultural experiences. The thermal pools were believed to have therapeutic properties, promoting physical well-being and rejuvenation, while the theatre likely hosted plays, performances, and gatherings, providing both entertainment and a sense of community. And let's not forget about the mystery guy who sits middle of the stairs like a marble sculpture! It's like a silent witness to centuries of history. This place holds a rich tapestry of stories waiting to be explored, and I can't wait to learn more about it! 🏛️🌿

Approximately 2kms from the main site of Pergamon Asclepieion is definitely worth a visit.
From it you get a very good view of the hilltop Pergamon site and you can imagine how impressive it would of looked to anyone approaching.
Asclepieion was a place of healing centred around the springs which supplied it with water.
The main complex is very interesting as it is circular with many interconnecting passages and tunnels.
There is also a partially restored theatre and stoa

Really nice place with a lot of history but if it’s hot outside it is very tiring walking around. I wish it was more green!

We went as part of a tour towards the end of January and the place was very quiet. It is a beautiful location, steeped in the history of being the first medical healing space in the Western world. We were accompanied by a knowledgeable tour guide who explained everything to us. We were lucky to be the only 6 people there and had plenty of time to take a lot of uninterrupted photos. Highly recommended.

Only 4 stars because the toilet was very bad (only one for the whole site)
There’s some better ones in the little market across the entrance site

Amazing place with great ruins (specially the avenue at the entrance, the tunnel and the amphitheater) and some spectacular views.

Very beautiful and very important archeological site that was once one of the first Asclepeions ever and one of the most important as well, which were the first form of modern-day hospitals.
I highly recommend visiting it if you’re in Izmir or its surroundings. (Pics are from July 2021)

Bergama, old part, is a cute place to spend couple of days. And the ruins there give the most authentic feeling (comparing to very touristy places like ephesus and pamukkale).

Today i visited bergama acropolis, red basilica and asclepieion three places. Here paid parking 20, entrance 90. Good place to see theater, temple etc. site is not big and it takes around 1 hour. Good place to invest time and money.

Acropolis Lower Cableway Station
Transportation service
Sights & Landmarks
Ancient Ruins
The Acropolis Lower Cableway Station offers a convenient mode of transportation to reach the Acropolis. However, if you wish to visit the museum located upstairs, an additional fee is required. Alternatively, you can choose not to go up and explore the area around the station instead. During such exploration, you may have the opportunity to interact with local vendors like Elif who sells delightful wild honey.
There is a cable car which takes you to the Acropolis but upstairs you need to pay extra to see the museum. I honestly didnt go up. I stayed down and bonded with a local lady named Elif who was selling the most delicious wild honey so I bought two jars and we just talked.
Diana Armasaru — Google review
Beware of misleading pricing information. Price list at the desk states it costs 250 TL one way PER CABLE CAR. Two of us came down from Acropolis and got charged 250 each (we paid at the bottom as there was nowhere to pay at the top). One way taxi door to door cost us 115 TL.
Martin Buzys — Google review
If you have a car you're better off driving up, same views and you don't have to pay to park at the gondola and then also pay for the gondola itself. There isn't even a parking lot, what are you charging for?
Joshua Herron — Google review
Best way to go up. Buy the Aegean Museum Card is cheaper to visit all the sites Permagon, Red Basilica, Asklepion, Permagon Museum and mach more.

I suffer from vertigo but it was the main way to visit the site. Professional service though

Cozy and enjoyable way to reach the Acropolis. However 20 TL is expensive I think.

The Agora Open Air Museum is a historical site displaying the ruins of an ancient Greek and Roman market and city center. It dates back to the end of the 4th century BC, but was destroyed in AD 178 by an earthquake. The Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius ordered its reconstruction, resulting in the Corinthian colonnade and Faustina Gate that are still standing today.
This is an amazing set of ruins. The arches are well preserved and impressive. My favorite thing was discovering the small water canal that was still flowing like it did back in antiquity. Highly recommend this site.
Sabiha Gokcen — Google review
Make sure you experience the Agora with a guide. It's an open-air museum, with most of the archeological sites closed off for restoration works. It's cool to see that there are 2 levels to the Agora, and the archs of the basement have withstood thousands of years. Izmir feels like a young city but visiting this site reveals its historic roots. I'd say it's a good to visit if you have time.

This is not a very big place and you can visit this within 1-1.5hrs. It's interesting to learn about the history of this place and it's a nice place to take photos.

Great way to experience an ancient Roman agora. Plenty of informative blurbs posted throughout. You’re free to walk the grounds at your leisure. All the sweet cats sunning themselves added another layer of charm to the experience.

130tl entrance. Half was closed off. It’s a very basic level archaeological site. The stone arches are interesting. There are stone tile mosaics that are simple and dusty. Hard to see anything like colours

Agora Open Air Museum, an ancient structure, which dates back to the Roman Empire period, is the biggest ancient market in Izmir.
It is good to pass by and see it if you have plenty of free time in Izmir, but its not that important. Yet some people likes to know these historical details. Place is not crowded at all when we visited, we were the only ones and 1 more group.

-Cheap price 2.5 euro(25TL)
-Location is perfect - Next to the bazaar and the parking building.
-Inside has ancients ruins when you see it it feels very deep and old in positive way.
-Still under progress of restoration - I was also curious about its process by seeing people still try to make it alive.
-Short enough to enjoy - max 30m.
Enjoy your time!

What a magical experience! I really loved seeing the history so close.
My lovely Italian partner who studied this type of history at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom said also that it was rather spectacular.
It’s a fair price to see these things. I would go again! Wow.

The KEY Museum in Torbali Izmir is a notable collection of restored vintage cars and motorcycles, along with other automotive artifacts. Though privately owned and requiring admission fees, the museum offers an extensive indoor exhibit featuring historical vehicles ranging from vintage to modern eras. Visitors can admire a batmobile and enjoy snacks at the on-site cafe. However, due to its large size, it would be preferable if attendees could move more freely around the cars without being confined mostly to wall placement areas.
We went by public transportation so after taking bus it was hard to reach by walking because it located far from road and in between industries with scary dogs. So the trip was bad but it was worth it. Everything was classy and clean. They said minibus goes every hour but we didn’t see any. So after izban or bus recommend taking taxi.

We love car museums, visit them everywhere we travel and I can say that this is one of the best. All items are in perfect condition, shiny as new. The variety is superb! There are 120 year old items, rare cars and old supercars. It you are near Izmir and looking for interesting places, this is the one.

Its a must visit museum if you are a cat lover, the collection focuses on American, European cars and motorcycles, from the late 1800 to some unique 2020s cars.
Verities of scaled car models collections.
Every thing is well presented, the decorations and atmosphere including the coffee shop of a high luxurious taste
I’m an admirer of the owner taste in the museum and hotel
God bless him.

This is a private car collection located in Torbalı İzmir. You have to pay to enter. At the time it was 45 lira. It is a huge indoor place with a great historical collection. I wish you can walk around the cars more freely. Currently most of the cars are placed against the wall and you can't walk behind the cars and you cannot see the interior of the car or the dashboard :(
Utkan Celik — Google review
A great experience especially if you love car and motorbikes from vintage to modern.
There is even a batmobile there.
There is a small café located within the museum.
23 of us went and paid 25tl each as we received discount as we booked as a group.

KEY Museum (Key Otomobil Müzesi), established in 2015, is the largest automobile museum in Turkey. It is located at Torbalı, near İzmir. Traveling by car, it is a 10mn drive out of the Torbalı exit of İzmir-Aydın express way. Another means is by train from İzmir.
The museum is housed inside a single story large building, probably built for this purpose.
The collection is mainly composed of American, British and German cars of the period 1930-1960. Add to this some exceptional Ferrari's and Alfa Romeo's.
My favorites are a Porche 1957 and a Kaiser-Darrin 1957. Vintage Rolls-Royce cars are another pieces of this wonderful museum. The Custom Cadillac is another wonder.
There is another section of the museum, as interesting as the first part, and it is the model cars collection. An unbelievable number of model cars representing the whole gamut of automotive industry, sedans, sports, racing are displayed behind glass panels.
At least 2 hours are needed for this visit. There is a small tea-coffee area and a museum shop. Unfortunately the shop is missing the museum catalog, I hope this will be corrected in the near future.
All automobile enthusiasts must visit this museum.

Gölyazı is a town in Turkey situated on a tiny peninsula on Lake Uluabat. This place has existed since the Ancient Greek era, and remnants from the Roman period are plenty. The Stork Festival is held annually in this town, which was once home to Greeks and Manavlar until the 20th century.
Sardis Ancient City, located east of Izmir, is an astonishing archaeological site that was one of the most important cities in antiquity. The city boasts impressive ruins including a Roman gymnasium, synagogue, Byzantine churches, and the temple of Artemis. The site is still being excavated and has undergone significant refurbishment to preserve its historical significance. Visitors can explore the well-maintained synagogue with beautiful mosaics and a glass floor over one of them.
I've read of this city in the Bible and wanted to see it first hand. At this site, I saw vestiges of Byzantine and Lydian history in the mosaics and ancient structures. Some of these are beautifully preserved.
Gary James — Google review
Amazing, magnificent entrance hall to the bath and gymnasium. Nothing compares among the ancient cities of Turkey, not even Ephesus.
Sergei Yazvenko — Google review
The place is beautiful, near the mountains. I don't recommend a special trip, you can drop in if you are on the way
Tanya — Google review
Very well managed site near tiny town of Sart. This is obviously on the religious tour itinerary as buses come and go. The synagogue is impressive, very large but a bit boring. Just some walls. The giant stone urn in the middle is interesting with its companion photo and back story.
The gymnasium is the star of the site. Very impressive Greek engravings still have deep red color. Obviously well cleaned. Suspicious in that a lot of brick work of recent origin likely holding the original columns up. Regardless, impressive.
The ticket buildings are almost new, very nice. The WCs are in excellent shape. The site is surrounded by scented woods and wild flowers.
There is hardly any parking, but street parking is easy at the site. 50TL about get is a good deal. The plane is mostly deserted, so take your time and enjoy the calm. Stark contrast to Ephesus.

Astonishing archeological site that is still being excavated.
Sardis was one of the most important cities in antiquity, the first gold coin was made here.
It's a shame that it is not most famous because the renovations there are very good when we compare to the pictures of the site when first found in the 19th century.
Be aware that there is two sites that are 20 min (by walk) away from each other (but included in the same ticket) one is the temple of Artemis and the second the Roman part.
I really appreciated the information in English and the drawing of how it looked like originally.
Really warm thank to the lady at the shop, the gentleman at the ticket office and the two security guards for their help to get me from the first site to the second ❤️

Visited in Jan 22 on a Sunday afternoon. Free entry with museum cards. Information boards are in Turkish and English. Allow 90 minutes.
Impressive synagogue with beautiful mosaics. The glass floor over one of thr mosaics is impressive. Quite a lot of refurbishment has gone on, but without it the site would be a true ruin.
Food and drink available nearby in the town. Parking is limited at the site, but everyone seems to park on the side of the road.
Don't forget the Temple of Artemis that is only 2kms away.
Paul and Karen Blakesley — Google review
It's not the largest archeological site in the region, but the Gymnasium is probably the most impressive antic building I've ever seen except for the amphitheaters. The restoration has been so successful so far and excavations and renovation works are still continuing.

The Aphrodisias Ancient City Museum, established in 1979, showcases recovered artifacts from the historic Greek city of Aphrodisias. Located in a remote Anatolian region, this site encompasses vast expanses and beautiful natural surroundings such as Roman poplars, green fields and chirping birds. It was added to UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2017 for its grandeur and scale.
Superlative experience in a quite unpopular site. Came here too late in the afternoon so i had to find a place for the night: some men at the nearby village çay evi kindly drove me back to Karacasu where they gave me a free room at the municipality guest house. The following morning i hitchhiked to here and spent 4 hours exploring both the internal museum and the excavations. Really charming.
A man asked me if i would like some sexual stuff while i was walking around the ruins and this has been the only time someone asked me in an open air museum. Maybe the name of the site makes it regular.
Left and hitchhiked 2 cars to Denizli, met my Couchsurfing host.
You can find my timelapse along the whole area in the video section.

By far the best ancient ruins we have seen in Turkey. We’ve visited a lot on the west coast and there are a few reasons why this was our favorite:
1) no hoards of tourists. There were relatively few people here which was strange because there are so many beautiful things to see.
2) much of the ruins are intact
3) the marble features are the most well preserved and well known in the area dating back to the ancient times. The amphitheater, the arena and the baths are absolutely stunning and huge!
4) entrance fee was cheap compared to all the other ancient ruins
5) the museum has phenomenal works of marble art so well preserved
The only down side to this area is there isn’t a place to eat. There’s a place to buy water, ice cream and some sweets but that is all. Overall it was phenomenal and a must see.

An incredible site that features some of the most beautiful marble carving, a sprawling ancient metropolis to explore, and well-preserved antiquities spanning a broad cross-section of history and culture. The Anatolians, Carians, and Romans were all here, and left their mark! One can immediately see why the Hellenes referred to the local goddess as Aphrodite, because this place is lush, fertile, beautiful, and magical-feeling. One of my favorite historic sites! I’ll be back again and again.

It is very interesting that such a valuable natural wonder is in such an idle state. I think that both the advertisement should be done well and the facility should be diversified.
The Travertines of Pamukkale are a must-see natural wonder in Turkey. These stunning thermal pools, formed after earthquakes, are surrounded by white limestone and offer a breathtaking view with rolling hills and ancient ruins in the background. Accessible through rough rocks, the lukewarm water is clean and clear, perfect for wading around. Visitors can take a dip in Cleopatra's pool and capture memorable moments with photographers available on-site.
One of the most spectacular places I've ever seen. It's presence is simply amazing and from all angles. Walking up has to be done on bare feet which is actually very pleasant. The hot springs with the milky turquoise water looks surreal, but my feet were so soft afterwards. Would highly recommend a day trip here and the hot air balloon experience was out of this world!
Wayne Johnson — Google review
It's a great place. But you need to walk barefoot. Anyway, it's a great feeling walking on clay. There are two entries. U can use both. Up there is Cleopatra antique pool, museum, and antique city. You can eat also there but expensive. And down there some Chinese, Japanese, and Indian restaurants. If you come here at midday there is a queue but earlier in the morning no wait.

If you are not there, you will never feel the same. The place is so beautiful. Is natural beautiful that unbelievable. Although it is hot due to open air. But it is worth your walk on the thermal pools. It feels so fantastic. Like the scenery there a lot, pictures taken was very nice. A lot of people are sitting in the thermal, enjoying the moment. If you walk to the end. Is really far. We not managed to do it, because hot sun. Anyway, like it a lot.
Seeker Star — Google review
This place is breathtakingly beautiful. With the rolling hills in the background and fluffy clouds in the distance, ancient ruins surrounding the area, you are transported to another realm it seems.
The water is lukewarm and the pools are clean and clear. Water is just knee high so it’s a pleasure to just wade around and get your feet wet. Some areas were closed off for cleaning. Quite a few photographers available to take memorable pics.
Be sure to take a dip in Cleopatra’s pool. Water temperature is a little hotter. You can literally smell and taste the minerals in the water. The bottom of the pool is filled with loose pebbles and columns that collapsed in ancient times. Excellent setup for swimming with lockers and changing rooms easily accessible at a cost of 130 Turkish Lira.
Most importantly, don’t forget to take a walk through the poppy fields up to Hades gate.
Amina Sindhi — Google review
Amazing but chaotic place to visit, it was crowded when we visited on a Sunday morning. We only walked in one pool, it was slippery in some places and a bit rough on the feet in others. I never felt comfortable with so many people around.
Walking around the path to look back at the travertines and over the valley was worthwhile.

We drove 3.5 hours to visit this place. Initially we were afraid that this place would not live up to our expectations, as the pictures looked so incredible. The site rents electric golf carts to make transport around this huge areal easier. There are also great swimming opportunities, in addition to all the sights. Highly recommended.

Amazing place. We have been in January, we entered from the village gate and the water down was cold. So you need to go up barefoot to find a warm source of water ) I think January is a nice time to visit as there are not so many tourists. Especially, after travertines it is so nice to swim in Cleopatra pool when the air is +12 and water inside the pool around 40-50 Celsius.
Artem Patyka — Google review
What a place. We arrived quite early so pretty much no one was there. The entrance fee is quite cheap. You do have to walk bear footed which does hurt a little but if you dip your feat in water it stops. The walk up is not too long and offers plenty of views of half filled pools. Once you get to the top you can see the main viewing point. Everything looks like snow and it looks quite cool in pictures.

Not what it was. You may have seen pictures from the past. It has since lost its natural water flow. However saying that I still thoroughly enjoyed it. Absolutely beautiful.

Very extraordinary. Shame though that price for foreigners is 700 TL and free for locals. Not very crowded out of season (November's Monday), especially if you use lower entrance. Bring warm socks (and swimsuit for Cleopathra pool), as we were allowed to walk in them and then remove them before entering hot springs section.

Well worth a visit to this ancient site.might take you a bit of travel time. But the.mineral pools are extra. It's a large scale site so a fair bit of walking is required. The Mineral/salt pools are an amazing and scenic view of nature itself. But take extreme care, it's very slippery to walk on. And nice sunset caps it off.

It's an archaeological expedition. People who love history or want to explore what had happened in the past could visit its vastness and explore everything around.
My trip had started almost at 5am and had to hop around to pick people and then change a bus, so I guess I was tired by the time it was 3 in the afternoon.
All in all its a great experience and one should at least do it once. I wouldn't think of it the 2nd time.

This was an amazing experience. The water feel great however, I do wish there was more of it. I would recommend going in the springtime and not summer. Don’t forget to explore the ruins and bring your own stuff so you don’t have to pay for overpriced water and snacks. I also recommend you start your day early. There are multiple entrances and its very easy to get in from all sides.

An unusual attraction to visit. The calcite hot spring pools looked stunning. The pools are the result of sedimentary rock deposited by mineral water from the hot springs. You can still wade around the travertine terraces, whose waters are said to have healing properties although the water did not feel special nor really warm.

It was absolutely beautiful. Very special and unique. Being in winter, the fog and mist added an extra layer of beauty to the entire site. Although the water levels in the pools were not as high as some of the older photos we found on the internet, the experience was very complete and more than satisfactory. It was definitely worth the visit for us. We truly enjoyed the morning.

Absolutely amazing experience. It was totally worth the 7 hours drive from Istanbul. On top of the hill, you can visit the ruins, cleopatra pool which is very popular and also the museum was very impressive. Worth the entrance fee. Highly recommended.

Amazing experience! This place is very beautiful. In every corner you see its beauty. I enjoyed walking around this area, every place has a story. Especially the history behind it. Definitely needs to be put on your holiday list.

Such an incredible area of natural beauty. When I visited in march it was VERY busy. I expect it gets even busier during the summer months!
You have to remove your shoes to walk through the travertines. It can be very slippy and often painful underfoot so go slowly and carefully.
The internet warned me that real life isn't quite like the pictures but this wasn't true. The water really is that blue! And so warm!
Be sure to carry your shoes with you.

Visiting the ancient city of Hierapolis in Türkiye was an extraordinary experience. Stepping back in time amidst its captivating ruins and thermal springs was truly mesmerizing. Exploring this historical gem with my girlfriend was an unforgettable journey through Turkey's rich cultural heritage. I'm proud to recommend Hierapolis as a must-see destination for any traveler seeking to immerse themselves in the wonders of ancient Türkiye.
You can buy tickets online on muze.gov.tr.

Visited in late January, so I imagine the place is a lot quieter than in the summer months. There is no queue to get in. Location is stunning and a must-see if visiting the region. The unique white cliffs and natural spa are unusual and very beautiful. You have to take your shoes off before walking in, and there are one or 2 slipper parts, so I wouldn't recommend running or walking too fast. Highly recommended.

A picturesque view with a lot of history! Do visit the museum, the amphitheatre and the souvenir shop! The overall experience was spectacular!
The Cleopatra Antique Pools offer a unique and unforgettable opportunity to swim in naturally hot spring water. The pools are only open during the winter season, allowing visitors to enjoy unlimited swimming from 9 am to 5 pm. The pools have a beautiful appearance and comfortable seating areas for those who prefer not to swim. Visitors can also enjoy delicious coffee while taking in the scenic surroundings. Overall, the Cleopatra Antique Pools provides an extraordinary experience worth experiencing at least once in a lifetime.
One of its kind the Cleopatra’s Pool, also known as the Cleopatra Antique Pool, is a UNESCO World Heritage. The pool’s stone design is nestled within an exotic landscape. An earthquake knocked down many of the columns, which now rest within the pool giving it an ancient feel.

Great looking pools. Once in a lifetime experience. You can do unlimited swimming for the whole day from 9 am to 5 pm in the naturally steaming hot spring water in the winters only.

Prices for 2024 is a total ripoff. 850 Tl entry fee and another 200 Tl to swim in Cleopatra's pool. Water is being relayed to different sections, so only some the pools have water at a time. Sadly we had to give it a miss because of eyewatering prices.
Mathilda Oberholzer — Google review
100 L entrance to the pool and 10 L for locker hiring. I visited in November so the pool was not crowded but the pool is heated maybe up to 25-28 degrees. The pool was a bit dirty with all the algae floating and it was quite chlorinated. For an hour's swim it was okay.

This ancient pool was created by an earthquake in the 7th century. It is believed that Cleopatra swam in it, thus the name. Recommended to ask visitors to Hierapolis. The area surrounding the pool needs some improvements.

This is a miraculous place located inside the ruins of Hierapolis; modern day Pamukkale, Denizli. A naturally occurred swimming pool made from carbonate rich warm waters which shaped the travertine terraces of Pamukkale. Water here considered as therapeutic since the ancient times, and many come to not only enjoy but find remedy. This is truly an experience.
Facilities are clean and nice. Food is good. Staff is very helpful. Highly recommended.

200tl extra to enter the pools is fully worth. Not crowded when I visited on the weekend.
Free locker provided with a 20tl refundable deposit.

I liked our time here. We didn’t have swim suits, but it was so comfortable and nice sitting space. The water was beautiful and the coffee was good.

It is a small pool with different columns and big rock inside. The water was clear but some green grass float on it and it wasn't quite pleasant. It was an extra 8 euros the entrance.

This is a definite must while in Pumenkale. To think that you are swimming in the same waters where Cleopatra swam thousands of years ago is pure magic. Apparently the warm waters have healing properties.

Average hot spring. The saving Grace is that it’s in an ancient city and there’s ruins in the water giving it quite a interesting vibe. But I’m my opinion it’s too expensive and gets extremely crowded after 10 am. There’s also a lot of algae and moss floating in the waters. The water temperature was like warm with some areas warmer than others. I’ve been to better hot springs in my opinion but if you have never been to one and have 130 lira to spend, you might enjoy it.
One thing to note is that once you go in you can’t leave the pool and come back again.
There are lockers for your clothes and changing rooms. The lockers are a 20 lira deposit. There are also cold showers that you can use afterwards.

Wow! I can't even begin to describe how incredible this hot water pool is! It's absolutely amazing! The warmth of the water and the soothing sensation it provides are truly a delight. We came on Monday at lunch hour and styed in the park till closing.
You have to pay to enter the park - if I remember it correct its 250 per adult or kid over 6 y.o. Its a SINGLE ENTRY whichmeans you cannot leave and reenter the same day.
In the park there is ice cream srand, few restaurants and WC (in the Cleopatra pools area)
If you want to visit Cleapatra baths you have topay extra ticket - 130TL adult ot kids vefor 12 y.o. just a little bit cheaper. Also 1 time entry. You cannot come out of the pool and come back again. Bring your own towel as here its only option to buy towel.
Kids till 16 y.o. not allowed in the deeper area of pool where carbonated springs are coming from.
Camera man will offer you to take pictures and then after you done with pool you can choose if you want any of them printed to buy. Also there is an angel wings you can take photo with. Cost an extra.
Pool is not crowded even it is not big. Maybe because we went on monday in november. Temperature of water in the deeper end is warmer (maybe 38 C), in the rest of the pool around 36 C. Very comfortable when its cold outside.
Nata — Google review
The entrance was 150tl and, although not that expensive, in the end it adds up. It was quite crowded and because of that the water lost its quality and was a bit dirty and murky. But the area around was great for relaxation, as there are plenty of trees that offer shade in summer.

I couldn't help but admire their architectural prowess at that time. The buildings were bigger and more magnificent than I had imagined. After visiting Pamukkale, remember to take the time to explore this place thoroughly. It will be a completely different experience.

This is an incredible place of beauty. The ancient ruins were very quiet as most were exploring the travertines. The temple is well worth the climb up the steep hill in the heat!
If you are a solo female traveller please be very careful. I wandered off alone to the Agora area and realised a man was following me. He then proceeded to do a lewd act. Luckily I was able to run away. When I told a security guard she didn't seem to think it was a big deal. My advice is to enjoy the ruins nearby other people you can trust. Such a shame as I thought this would be a safe place.

Hierapolis It's an old Roman city over the rocky area near Pamukkale. There are so many things but most of them are only pieces of rock and very difficult to understand unless guided by a good tour guide. There is an open air theater which is most commonly visited by tourists & other spots are not highlighted. There is also cleopatra’s pool where so many tourists take bath and swim.
Atis Basak — Google review
Go early morning by say 8am to be the first there. Else parking becomes a problem and the pools get crowded. Get early to the pool and use the south gate which takes u to the top and near the good pools. Town entrance starts below and u have to walk up which is quite tiring on bare foot. Pay the buggy guys upfront but tell them to drop u at the pools first and come back for you later. You can call them on WhatsApp. Then take a liesurly one hour trip around the ruins and necropolis.

An open air archaeological site well-trekked by tourists given its stone’s throw away from Pamukkale travertines. An amazing theatre, the highlight. A small museum displaying excavated stone carvings, an antique pool for swimming.
The Pamukkale Amphitheater is an awe-inspiring historical site filled with rich heritage, legacies and impressive speeches. It is recommended to tour the area using a golf cart and capturing numerous photographs. The ancient amphitheater itself is a sight to behold, one of great magnificence. Optimal timing for visiting would be slightly before sunset when the view becomes even more captivating.
Amazing ancient amphitheater. Best time to visit is a bit before sunset.

Amazingly preserved theatre at Hierapolis UNESO heritage site. Though initially constructed around reign of Hadrian in 60 AD, theatre has been extended and transformed it existing shape during later years. However it collapsed due to earthquake in 7th century. Even in its historic arrangements, it was able to seat 15,000 spectators. It must have been used for multiple sports, cultural and imperial activities. It was heavily restored in 2004
To 2014 but still it has more than 90% actual settings. It’s a must visit place in Turkey

Very beautifull at sunset time. You can see a very very breathaking view. Unfortunetly there's no shadow on the way there and the climb, although not that steep, can be exhausting on a hot summer day. But it is well worth it, as the ruins are in a good condition and the view from that last steps is great. I would have loved to see an ancient play performed here.

On a hot day in Turkey there is nothing nicer than sitting over a river fed from the mountains. It's perfectly clear icy waters cool the air and make it a gorgeous environment to enjoy the food. The staff have very basic English and it can be fun being understood and that is all part of the charm. An experience not to be missed.

Beautiful place to visit! Food was lovely and service was efficient and fast. Wonderful views of the cool, aqua blue river and possibilities to swim and have fun for all. We took a large group here (53) and nothing was too much trouble.

Quirky restaurant built over a cooling, quickly moving river with some tables & chairs actually in the water! The food we had was mainly not very good - over-cooked, half-heartedly warmed, flaccid french fries and some very odd flavoured coffees purporting to be 'americano' and 'cappuccino'. The bread was fresh and 'bouncy' though, and the 'spring rolls' (not like those from a Chinese menu, by the way), filled with feta cheese, were freshly cooked and crisp. Reasonably priced.
Overall, worth a visit for the unusual setting and atmosphere - but don't expect a particularly good culinary experience.

This was our first stop, for a Turkish breakfast, on a tour organised by the apartments (Celik Apart Otel) we were staying at in Icmeler. It's about an hours drive from Icmeler. There are a few parking spaces for cars, and it's large enough for a couple of buses, too ( the road in is quite narrow, so I would check ahead if there is room). The area we were dining in was outside next to the river, which made it feel cooler, there are plenty of trees for shade. The breakfast that was served to us was fantastic, all the usual Turkish breakfast fare, including chips for the fussy. The servers were polite, prompt, and well presented. For a bit of fun, there is a rope swing over the water, hold on tight. You can paddle and swim, but sometimes the water is very fast, so check first. There are toilets on site that were clean and tidy.

It is a wonderful place with streams and waterfalls in a round stream. However, it is not a public area as in many touristic places. The most beautiful places are closed by restaurants. The restaurants here are badly placed above streams and waterfalls. It is imperative that these types of spaces are made more aesthetically pleasing and protected in a way that everyone can benefit from.

Correction before commenting: the place is not free to enter anymore. I think it belongs to government now and the entrance fee is 5 lira as march of 2022. Which is totally fine.
It is literally underground or cave version of Pamukkale. There is a very nice and small pool welcomes your with amazing colors. Then you go inside and see Pamukkale part. 2 things you might consider before entering. First thing is smell, it smells heavily like sulfur or something like that.(rotten egg even) after awhile, you are getting used to it but still. Second is, be ready to take your shoes off. Some places are filled with water so you might consider going there barefoot or take some slippers with you.

Cool place to visit if you are driving near by. It is like mini Pamukkale under the ground.
It is worth going in with swimming shoes or beach shoes as the cave ground is full of water.
There is a big parking lot and the parking is included to the price.
The site itself is small, it doesn’t take long to see the cave.
There is a pool outdoors where you can swim. It was filled with kids mainly. There are changing rooms and showers that are free of charge. There are no sun beds by the pool therefore not comfortable to stay longer by the pool.
In one of the water sources there are lots of many turtles 🐢

Amazing cave. The size is small, it takes maximum 5 mins to walk around + photos 10 min. In summer time they have a pool with thermal water, in winter the pool is empty. On the territory there are a toilet and a small shop where you can buy sweets and drinks.

It is good place to stop by if you are driving nearby but as it is very small and takes 5 minutes to complete, we would not drive more than 30 minutes to see it.
Free parking. Entrance is little less than 1 Euro per person but only pay cash in turkish lira.
There is a lovely honest and kind young boy running this place, he deserves a raise and he is more memorable than place itself.
Beautiful cave well maintained for pedestrians. The cave takes maximum 5 minutes to walk through but youll get your feet wet. As its very small cave its still warm/hot inside.
We rate very high because we are impressed by how well maintained this place is, entrance fee is reasonable with free parking and most importantly because of the lovely young man running this place.

Underground cotton candy castle 🤯🤯🤯🏰🔥👌
In my nuuuumerous hours of researching places to visit via the interwebs I stumbled across this sweet little cave which has very similar pools to the massive Turkish tourist attraction called Pamukkale (cotton castle) 🤩🤩🤩
This cave did not disappoint! Absolutely exquisite thermal pools formed by millenniums of flowing spring waters with high zinc, calcium, magnesium, and gypsum content which have over the years built up individual pools here underground inside of this spectacular cavern 🤘
When I first got here I honestly thought I would see a few people or at least a security guard.... Buuuuuut there was no one around for miles! Luckily there is no real gate or security door to get into the cave or onto this property. Surprising honestly but here we are 😂🤣😂
The cave itself is lit up with a bunch of high-intensity LEDs which makes viewing the cave formations all the better 😮 The wooden walkway to get around here is in really good condition and you can see several different mouths of the spring feeding this cave. One is inside of a deep blue pool and two of the others are coming in as waterfalls through the top of the cave... Really beautiful but make sure you have some waterproof shoes before you go down in here💦⛰️⛲🌂🤣🤣🤣
After exploring the cave for a while I noticed they have some swimming pools built just outside of the entrance of the cave. I imagine in the summertime when the zombie apocalypse corona virus lockdown is not in full force this is a fantastic place to come enjoy the afternoon with your family and splash around in these thermal waters! Kind of eerie walking around by yourself in an abandoned aqua park but even still very cool!
Really glad I got to check this place out and even more thrilled to see this cave up close and personal after finding out about it 4 months ago back in Istanbul on my incredibly exhaustive hunt for off the beaten path things to see and do here in this region of Turkey.
If you're in the area I give this place 2 biiiiiiiig thumbs up to visit 👍🤠👍

This is a well preserved cave located in Denizli, Turkey. It is a short and easy hike to the cave entrance, and the cave itself is not very large, but it is still a beautiful sight to see. The natural water that flows through the cave is a beautiful turquoise color, and the cave walls are covered in stunning travertine formations.
The cave is open to visitors for a small fee, and the hike to the entrance is only about 10 minutes long. Once you reach the cave, you can walk through the main chamber and admire the natural beauty of the cave. There are also a few small side chambers that you can explore.
The cave is not very large, so you can easily see it all in about 30 minutes. However, the short visit is well worth it for the chance to see such a beautiful natural wonder.

Beautiful lake surrounded by mountains. We went in December and everything was closed. We found one hotel parking lot opened that you have to pay 40 TL to park. We drove the entire lake looking for a restaurant open but found none. I imagine in the summer, this place may be crowded. The lake has beautiful turquoise water around the edge. But it was quiet cold for me I still swim and enjoy after feeling hot weather. Its close in Denizli on the way. As I beleive ther is Salda village nearby then its called "Salda" lake as well. If you visit Pamukkale definitely can go this place too😊💚💯

A place of wonder! The Turkish Maldives- transformed into the so-called name Saldives :) A destination to be in your bucket list of “Must visit places in Turkiye”
In the midst of fall 2022, specifically in October, I had the chance to discover this wonderful lake.
The lake area covers 4,370 hectares, and its depth reaches 196 meters, making it one of the deeper lakes in Turkey, if not the deepest. The lake sedimentary records show high resolution climate changes that are related to solar variability during the last millennium.
The lake is a popular excursion spot for people across the region or from beyond, the more so due to the hydromagnesite mineral found in its coastal waters, which is believed to offer remedies for certain dermatological diseases. The shorelines, surrounded by black pine forests, are also popular among hunters, the game and the fowl available including quails, hares, foxes, boars and wild ducks, aside from the lake's fish. White sandy beaches, limpid water and seven crystal-white islets within the lake complete the scenery.
Its peculiar morphology has led to a number of academic studies conducted on Lake Salda. The unusual alkaline nature of the lake means that is one of the few locations where ancient stromatolite algae still grows.
You can drive past Doğanbaba and get downhill to reach the lake. There is an outdoor/indoor place to fill your stomach with some sandwich or a nice Turkish breakfast.
Puppies are all over the place. So cute and playful which give you a great energy of existence. They fight with each other as a play, and not hard to catch to pat and feed.

What a serene spot! White sand with different shades of blue. We were the only tourist at this time of October. But was not prepared with so much cold and windy weather. Some aquatic birds were also there like gulls, tufted duck, common pochard etc.
Tlos Ruins is an archaeological site located in a beautiful location that features ancient tombs, baths, stadium and theater. The ruins also boast a castle and an Agora. Although not as attractive as Patara ancient city, the site is definitely worth visiting for its historical significance. Entrance fee costs 12TL or free for museum card holders. However, visitors should be prepared to walk through rough terrain and therefore it may not be suitable for elderly or disabled individuals or young children.
We thought that these ruins were amazing, the theater, Agora, stone tombs and a castle. Beautiful location, not many visitors. Definitely worth visiting this site. Good location for some incredible photographs. 12.5 TL to enter the grounds.

Amazing place.
It is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen in Turkey.
Amazing view from the top of castle.
During August is very hot and humid. You need a car and make sure your car is not cheap economical saving gas.
You drive through hills and up and down. You need a strong rental car. I rent Audi A series.
Local farmers sell some small places of their fresh products and fruit.

Stunning view and impressive tombs and ruins. There were a few informative signs, but not enough, and the fences, entrance areas, toilets, and general infrastructure need upgrading. Free entrance with museum card.

It's worth the visit at 60TL. It's interesting to see the ruins, tombs, and surrounding areas. Stunning 360° views especially of the snow-capped mountains.
Parking is along the street, not designated, so if you see a safe spot, pull over.
The little cafe or juice bar sells freshly squeezed orange or pomegranate or a combination of both, which was refreshing.
There are toilets on the grounds which were clean.

Tlos ancient city, ruins of ancient tombs, baths, stadium and theater. Not as attractive as Patara ancient city but if you are around the place, better to see. Entrance fee is 12TL or free for those who hold museum card. Walking isn't easy for visitors so not good for old, disabled and young people.

It is an impressive place without a doubt, the theater is well preserved but the tour around the ruins does not take more than 30 minutes. You can quickly reach the top where the flag is, the view is wonderful. If you like history you will like this place.

A few placards to explain what the buildings were, but otherwise you're left to hike and scramble around. 40l entry fee, which is very reasonable

Great place for people interested in ancient history.
You can see quite a bit of the place without paying the entrance fee, but the fee is only 60 TL per person (around 2€ in today's money) anyways.
We travelled here from Fethiye in about 35 mins by car. Recommended.

Absolutely relaxing place, nice view, wasnt crowded. You can buy ticket at the entrance highly recommended to have cash on you for. For us took about 2hours to walk around explore and make pictures at Castle, bath agora and theatre ruins. Toilet was available ant entrance, no parking lot, so you can park wherever you find place for.

It looks impressive at first glance. But in fact there is not much to look at. In fact, you can only climb the stairs to the columns and portal carved into the rock. There is an entrance to a very small room. And that's it. There is no extensive network of crossings or corridors. There is no access to other parts either.

Great location by the skirts of Akdag. Mountain views on one side, overlooking Esen plains on the other. One of the most impotant Lycian city. Nice stadion and rock tombs.

This ancient city with his acropolis is an eye catcher. If you are in Fethiye or in Kas it’s worth the trip. Truly a must see. It’s a climb so wear at least sneakers.
Nicolehrm — Google review
Extensive ruins of Tlos ancient city (with several layers from different eras) with a spectacular hill top position. Much was out of bounds when we visited for restoration/repair, but the amphitheatre and stadion were still visible, as were the many tombs dotted about. It's hilly and the terrain is rough, and not perhaps for the less mobile. But even from the road or a short walk in, there is a good sense of what might was a major city. We arrived at around 6pm, so there were few people around; we didn't have time to explore fully, so just walked into the areas off the main road (not via the main entrance, where I believe a small fee is payable).

I absolutely recommend! The restauration has only started so you can explore the ruins yourself. No strict paths, no railings. Just feel the energy of the past :)

We were heading home from YakaPark, when we saw the ruins. We really did not expect to see such beautiful and impressive ruins here.
We walked around and explored everything there, it didn't take more than an hour.
Also, you can easily reach the top of the castle, where the flag is, It is an impressive place without a doubt.
Not to mention, the view is very breathtaking
If you like history and exploring old cities, you will like this place. Worth the drive!

Absolutely stunning archaeological site. We visited the ruins as part of an excursion, and I spent our time there in in awe. Highly recommend a visit if you are in the area
DANI — Google review
We drove past the ruins, and unfortunately didn't have the option to visit in any depth, although to catch a couple of photographs.
We were told that the area is a combination of fortress and ancient town; with some burial locations that were a major part of the Lycian culture started some 4,000 years ago. It was absorbed in turn by the Persian Empire, and the Roman Empire.
The ruins look incredibly substantial, covering a massive area; as you may see from the photographs, the main part of the Acropolis is on the hill, with remains of buildings including an amphitheatre in the foreground, a distance of over a kilometre.
Subsequently, it's been suggested that a series of earthquakes caused a lot of damage to the buildings; and eventually for the site to be abandoned.
I believe that the ruins are part of a national programme of historical sites, but are not currently open to the public. It would be worth checking if this changes; I would certainly like to visit it in more detail.

We arrived late afternoon after a visit to Saklikent Gorge, so there were few people there; the 'waterfall' is quite small and part of a cafe/trout farm. It's a pretty setting with lots of cool shade, several big ponds with fish of various sizes, snacks, beer, wine and other soft/alcoholic drinks. Very friendly service. The ponds do attract biting insects, so bring spray if you tend to get bitten. A nice place to stop for a rest and refreshment in the heat of the day.
Lesly Huxley — Google review
A nice place with huge fishes in the pond, lots of streams, an (artificial) waterfall, swings, instagrammable spots. I liked it way more than the other crowded places up the hill. This restaurant is part of the nature and of the village. At least, that's what it seemed at the end of the season. It was part of my trip to Tlos. Going there just for the sake of Yakapark makes no sense, there's hundreds of restaurants on streams in Turkey.

Great place for a bite to eat.
You can tickle a fish - the fish are swimmimg around the bar area and you are encouraged to see if you can catch one with your hands.
This place is place of natural beauty.
If you have the inclination there is a game where if you can stay under the cold waterfall for a certain period of time you get a free drink or meal.
All in all a great place to experience.

Came late in the season. Staff was nice, but not very flexible. Food was fine. Place felt a little run down, perhaps because we came after a rain storm. Quite a ways off the beaten path.

There are mountain roads along the way, which is very difficult to drive. The park does not require tickets, there is only a small waterfall, and there is nothing to do except eat. It is not recommended to bring small babies there. There are steps and you can't push the pram.
Termessos Ruins is an ancient Pisidian city situated on Güllük Mountain, accessible through hiking trails. Nestled within Mount Gulluk-Termessos National Park, this historical landmark stands over 1,000 feet above sea level and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Although not heavily touristic due to its remote location and steep ascent, the preserved ruins are well worth a visit.
There is a serious hike up a very steep and rough path to get to the main part of the site but the necropolis to the left of the car park is worth the visit on its own. It is a beautiful location with breathtaking views.

Beautiful place! Have to visit. Ruins, views, history - great! Possible to go on taxi. Recommend to visit via route by maps.me or else navigator. Starting from the tombs to city, bath, school, church, other buildings and finish - awesome antique amphitheater. All visit takes 3-5 hours.

A visit to the ancient ruins of Termessos was stunning to see and learn about the history with a tour guide. A bit of a bumpy walk but worth all the information you can learn. Definitely visit if you like hiking, walking. If you're going without a tour guide, be sure to do some research so that you understand what you see when you get there.

How can you not get five stars to a 2000-year-old ruin that is over 1,000 m above sea level? It is understood and is natural has any ruin in the country, with some amazing and breathtaking views up there.

If you like ruins then this place has to be on your bucket list. While it was unconquered by Alexander The Great, nature is winning that battle.
Most of it is in ruins, but they are impressive. It's a long winding road up to the parking spot (but on a good road) and then a 45 min steep uphill climb, so wear good trainers. But what waits is well worth it.
Lots to see (signposts in the site could be better) so allow lots of time. Take food and lots of water.

Fascinating ruined city with so much to see. We spent 4 hours and still missed some of it. The theatre is spectacular and the necropoli were amazing. We even saw orchids and had tea with the very knowledgeable attendant which was a real bonus.

Very interesting ancient buildings. It worth to come if you’re interested in history. It was a very nice experience to explore this place. However, it was not accessible by public transportation. We decided to rent a car instead of paying for a taxi which asked for 2000 TRY

Very worth to visit. This is the unique place, an ancient town of Turkish Macu Pikcu in Taurus Mountain. Termessos is not so touristic, because you must hike approx 1km up, 1km down and around 3.5-4km in the Termessos itself when you reach it. You should calculate roughly to spend 2h if you walk quickly and 3h if slowly. Very recommended! 10points

Breathtaking hike through the ruins to the summit! The ancient city features a magnificent theater, the monumental tomb of Alcetas (one of Alexander’s generals), Hellenistic Defenses, multiple temples, as well as several magnificent necropolises. It provides one of the most stunning examples of ancient cities in Western Turkey. I suggest around 3-4 hours to explore the site and hike the trails fully. Even if you are not a huge history buff, this is a fantastic hiking spot with a scenic view of the Turkish countryside.

After the windy road up to the top the views were amazing. The paths are not always clear so you have to climb around to find the ruins but that made it much more fun.
Kina Garratt — Google review
This is billed as a "must see," "the Machu Pichu of Turkey." The trouble with such statements is they raise expectations and can lead to disappointment.
From the car park you take a steep path up the mountain side to reach the ruins. Make sure you look back when you get to the first ruins to admire the view down the mountain side. On your left is the hamam. There is a path here which goes past many ruined buildings and on into a wooded area. I found this largely deserted and a great place to explore.
The theatre, which is the focus of most visits was much smaller than I imagined and quite difficult to walk around due to the fallen stones. The setting is the key feature, with a mountain view as a backdrop.
You read that these ruins are "the best preserved." This means that the ruins have been left as found, fallen stones and columns lie all over the site and you simply walk over them in many areas. Pathways are tracks between these stones.
I got to the site by walking up the 12km access road. I'm a fast walker and it took 2 hours. It's quite a stamina sapping trek with many hairpin bends and stretches of steep ascent.
Honestly, I was somewhat disappointed by the site but I'm still glad I went, if only to cross it off my bucket list, but the most enjoyable areas for me were the least visited which other visitors seemed to ignore. Go early to avoid the crowds.

Absolutely beautiful!! Not only wonderful for history buffs but amazing hiking (so if you love both the perfect two for one)!!! Try to go early (closes at 5:00p.m.) so that you have enough time for all the sightseeing (takes at least a few hours to get through about half of it) and make sure to wear appropriate footwear (lots of loose rocks and climbing).

As a guide for Impulse Travel agency, you will have the most unique travel experience in Antalya when exploring the ancient city of Termessos. This area, also a natural park, allows for a long and challenging hike, providing the opportunity to enjoy the magnificent views in the fresh air. To reach the ancient city, you'll need to climb a difficult path that takes about 15-20 minutes, but the oxygen and fresh air will increase as you ascend. As you approach the entrance to the city at the end of this wonderful hiking trail, you'll feel like you're entering the city through a well-preserved gate, once commanded by great leaders of ancient times. You'll trace the glorious life of a real Roman city, and I always look forward to visiting this place. As a guide for Impulse Travel, I can't wait to offer our guests the highest quality services during the Termessos ancient city tour.

Lace up your hiking boots, put on your Indiana Jones hat, and explore. Termessos is a totally unexcavated Pisidian city high up in the Taurus mountains about 30 miles from Antalya. Alexander the Great tried but failed to conquer it. Later, it was allied with Rome, although never actually ruled by Rome. The city was abandoned when an earthquake destroyed the aqueduct at an unknown date.
I visited Termessos in 2022, and it was high on my priority list to visit again in 2023. There is something magical about it. You definitely feel like you are exploring, not just touring, at Termessos. A winding mountain road takes you to a parking lot from where you hike up another steep half a mile or so to the lower city walls. From there you wander, sometimes walking over decent footpaths and sometimes scrambling on all fours over massive boulders. The panoramic mountain views balance the muscular, maybe even brutal, architecture. The signage is minimal, and so you never know quite what will be around the next bend in the path. Make sure to do your homework before you go, and take a picture of the wooden map in the parking area before you start your hike.
The star of the show is a 4-5,000 seat theater hanging off the side of a mountain. The view of the mountains from the theater is absolutely breathtaking — it’s almost a spiritual experience.
There are two paths to the ruins. The main path is what most people take, but there is a second, rockier path that goes by a bunch of rock cut tombs. I would recommend taking the straight path up and the rock cut path on the way back, or vice versa.
Although you can reach Termessos by bus and a 4(?) mile hike up the road from the entrance to the national park, I would recommend hiring a taxi or renting a car. I hired a taxi for about $60, and the taxi driver waited at the parking area while I hiked. Crowds are minimal. I counted 15 other people during my visit.
Mount Tahtalı is a majestic peak standing at a height of 7,762 feet. It boasts of a recreational aerial tram that takes visitors to the summit offering breathtaking panoramic views of the sea and mountain range. Although considered pricey by some, it's worth every penny. Visitors should be prepared for colder temperatures as they ascend higher up the mountain. In winter months, crampons are necessary after reaching an elevation of 1800 meters.
Gorgeous mountain with great infrastructure. Loved the experience - visited on the sunset tour and it was trully worth going there for the sunset. The colours are stunning. It is jot as crowded.
There is a jumping rope there - quite fun thing to try.
Wear something worm - it is a lot colder at this altitude, especially in the evening.
On the top you have a coffee shop and restaurant. Nice place to warm up.

We payed 380 for the cable car. 10 mins and you are up there, observing the nice view of sea on one side and the mountain range on the opposite side. Keep in mind that it's much colder out there at the top, so be sure to bring warm clothes.

Getting there at night was really great experience. Landscapes were changing from the forest to something like Mars. To achieve top of the mountain you'd have comfortable hiking footwear, because there are too many small and big rocks. In regular sneakers you'll suffer instead of getting satisfied. It could be pretty windy on top btw.

It's a place with very very beautiful view and feelings. We was in April. It was rain on the top of the mountain (+9) and sunny at the foot (+21). The weather changes in the mountains too fast. On the top was very windy and too cold. We dressed in coats and jackets. The sea, woods and cities were hidden under the clouds. We felt like we were going to heaven. This was unsubscribe feelings. We had lunch on heaven))) But the food was not as tasty as we wanted)))

This is an amazing place with such a great views from the top.
You can have a paraglide jump with an instructor and this will cost you 215$ in 2020 from the travel agent of Annex Tour, May be from other travel agents it will cost less. Bit this is an amazing jump
From 2365 meters and you fly down to the village of Tekirova. This is the longest paraglide jump in Europe. Flight takes approximately 45 minutes.
When the weather is good and no clouds you can see almost all coast of Antaliya region. When clouds you can be above them and this is a cool view as well but completely different.
It’s a cafe on top but better avoid it. Absolutely nothing special.
On the top floor of the building of funicular you can find binoculars you pay 1 lira and can watch them.
We can see our hotel in Tekirova from the top - Gural Premiere.
This place is definitely worth a visit.

Breathtaking 😍 To het there (if you don'thave a car), you need to take the bus TA08, but make sure you take the one saying that they're not direct (some city namec with Ph... letters in the beginning). I accidentally took the wrong bus, so we went through the tunnel below the mountain.
After that, ask the driver to stop at "Tahtali Teleferik 7 km" sign and there you'll see a check point. You can buy a ticket (20 liras one side) or walk 7 km.

Group of natural vents spouting perpetual flames above the ruins of the temple of Hephaistos.
An easy hike to see the fire. About 1km and the trail is clearly marked. Cost was about 15Tl and parking was available and free. I read after that its estimated the flames have been burning for at least 2,500 years. A great stop and such an amazing place to see!

An absolute must see for anyone interested in natural phenomena. The hike is 800 meters up very steep stairs. It is definitely worth the effort once you get there. In the early evening you can see the best show of these natural fires and still make it back down. Bring a flashlight or have your phone flashlight handy if it gets too dark. This is a truly magical place, with unknown origin.

Great place to visit especially in the evening when it's dark as the fires show up so well. Take a torch and some marshmallows. It costs just 12 lira and there is parking at the entrance. There are toilets by the car park. The path is quite steep, I think about 750 metres uphill. There are about 15 various fires at the top all burning from natural gas escaping between the rocks, its amazing to think theses fires have been burning for thousands of years. Well worth a visit.

One of the places that i really wanted to visit at Olympos! I felt something is unique, so i walk from Olympos to Yanatas through Cirali Beach. All the way i enjoy the walk and looking at beautiful beach. People at the entrance are so nice, offer you Cay. There is guide take me up there and also to another side looking for beautiful view. All the way up around 1km, there is stone pathway, make sure we have good shoe and bring water with you. Yes some people bring sausage and marshmallow up for bbq. 😩 Is worth to visit!
Short Brief -
Yanartas (Chimaera), known as the place of flames, is a fascinating natural rock formation located alongside Cirali village, on the Mount Chimaera slopes, close to Olympos Valley. Yanartas is known as eternal fire and the flames look like they burn on the rocks without any apparent fuel or heat source.

If you want to see natural fire coming out from under the ground then that's the place. Beautiful views, a bit of exercise - what's not to like. It will only take about 30 minutes to get to the place from the car par. Car parking is free. To get to the mountain is 50TL. Great experience.

Amazing natural wonder and excellent history. You need good stability for this hike. The hike is a bit long for an amateur and every step is on uneven stones and ground. Strong knees and ankles are a must. The flaming mountain portion is all a steep hillside. Bring toilet tissue. There are bathrooms at the entry but they are sparse. I think entry was 30 TL.

This place is very spectacular, if you can walk a thousand meters uphill, don't miss the encounter with the beautiful fires in the heart of the mountain, and I suggest you go to this place between sunset and sunrise and when the weather is not too hot.

Easy hike up and definitely worth it. Fire coming from the rocks is a site to see!! Very quick hike maybe 10-15 mins. Just be careful on your way down.

Overrated natural gas mountain that always stays lit (on fire). The climb is quiet long, 2km and has very steep and large steps so bring a water bottle and maybe even some steak to cook on the fires! Very cool for photo ops and chilling but overrated IMO.

Nothing to compare to. Better to see after dusk, but get yourself a flashlight - the stairs on the way are very rocky. Also think about hiking / enduring shoes. Avoid this site if you have any walking or back issue
