Museo Paleontológico Municipal Ernesto Bachmann(NEUQUEN)
Museo Paleontológico Municipal Ernesto Bachmann in Neuquen may be small, but it holds some remarkable exhibits. Visitors can marvel at dinosaur nests, replicas of local discoveries, and a fascinating ancient shark jaw that's a popular spot for photos. Despite its size, the museum never fails to impress its visitors with its dramatic displays. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and have an interest in paleontology.
Nice place to visit if you’re in the area.

This is an amazing Dinosaur Museum which is located about one (1) hour outside of Neuquen Capital City and many people have recommended it to me.
They have several rooms with exhibits and replicas on Dinosaurs and there is even a place just a few kilometers away by the Lago Ezequiel Ramos Mexia where you can even see Dinosaur Footprints.
Wow!
I personally want to Thank Joe and Shelley from the Iglesia Bautista Biblica Church in Neuquen Capital City for taking ME there back on Sunday, April 16, 2017.
I personally want to Thank Maria Rosas for the fantastic and detailed tour!
I will Never forget this Experience!

The museum was great! It's the most accessible museum I've ever been to. They had audio guides (via QR codes at each dinosaur) in both Spanish and English. They also had braille signs at each dinosaur (see pic for one of them). We were there at a quiet time, so we had the place to ourselves which was cool. The dinosaur bones are very cool (especially the massive one that spans almost the entire room), and the audio guides are informative.
The entrance fee is very reasonable, although the museum is pretty small. I would highly recommend this as an activity for kids who are going through their dinosaur phase.

A truly beautiful lake. Chilean immigrants, who were farmers, first arrived here in 1898. They started growing wheat, potatoes, and oat , and raising cows and sheep. Throughout the region, there are numerous farmers with families on both sides of the border. The Argentinian border officers don’t bother them with papers as they use alternative routes.

Parque Nacional Los Arrayanes is a small protected forest situated on the Quetrihue Peninsula, which extends into Lago Nahuel Huapi. The park safeguards rare stands of the cinnamon-barked arrayan tree, a type of myrtle that can live up to 300 years old. The area's name in Mapudungun means "place of the arrayanes." Visitors can traverse walking trails for running, biking or hiking while enjoying breathtaking views.
Beautiful park and trail for walking, running, and biking.
Honey Badger (Schmitz) — Google review
I would suggest to go there walking and come back by boat. In that way you see the natural park and you sail in the lake. Really great experience
Lida Maria — Google review
Amazing place to visit if you are around Villa La Angostura. They offer several options for you to go into the park. We decided to do the free short walk of 3.2 km round trip. Be aware that for foreigners the payment for visiting the whole park (22 km round trip) is around 10 dollars. Some other tips, riding a bike is a popular option but take into consideration that the first 3 km might require you to carry your bike due to the path inclination.
Ruben Peraza — Google review
Really beautiful park. I recommend taking the catamaran one way and then walking back. That takes about 3 hours (not walking slowly) including the side trips to the laguna and the two miradors. At the end you can have a great refreshing swim in one of the beaches near the pier.

Loved it so amazing perfect in every way. Great manicured trail. Awesome dog that was our guide. White looking German Shepard if you see him tell him hi. Not actually a stuff friendly place though
Josh Skwarczyk — Google review
I am not sure where all these five star reviews are coming from. This trip was not what we were led to believe. Let me start with something no one is mentioning (I suspect because most of these reviews are from “Local Guides”) - the majority of the special trees in the Arrayanes Forest looks dead (see photos). The trees were apparently shocked by a heatwave ten years ago and have not yet recovered, meaning their trunks are gray, not the orange you see in most the promotional photos. This was a massive disappointment, particularly having seen extensive crepe myrtle and madrone forests in the US. The boardwalk tour is fine but lasts about 20 minutes with not much in the form of information along the way. Everyone we encountered at the end of the boardwalk had a “Really? That’s it?” look on their face.
We opted for the bike ride out. It is not a leisurely affair as some have mentioned. If you are an experienced mountain biker, this would be great for you. Not for the novice. The first 2 kilometers are very steep up, then down, so you are pushing your bike most of the time (or even carrying it). This repeats several more times until you get to the famed forest, though there are long stretches of a gentle downhill. The return would be a continuous gradual climb back to the steep parts, which would have been really tough for that distance.
The trail is well maintained and the flora is nice enough but it would be hard to say this is a better choice than the other hikes in the area. There is only one bay overlook that I recall. The rest is deep forest.
We took the boat back (8000 pesos) along the Patagonia east side (instead of the bay) and that was actually quite stunning and the boat guide gave a nice talk.
I grew up in the National Park system in the US and I don’t like to besmirch anywhere people are trying to care for nature, but it seems, given the prices being charged by those enabling folks to visit this location, this is a conundrum - the parque needs the money to survive, locals need money to survive, but I guess I am just telling folks to not always believe what you read in reviews.
Dave Karraker — Google review
Entry price for foreigners is 2300 pesos. Make sure it is sunny to take full advantage. You can enjoy the lake if you don't want to spend the amount. There are other nice beautiful places you can enjoy that are free (200 pesos transportation for each). Check my reviews for Villa de Agusturo.

We spent 6 hrs walking the 22km walk to the jetty and back. We hardly saw anyone on the first 11km which was great. Once the boats arrived there were quite a few more, but still pleasant. The previous comments about the trees are unfounded. The contrast between the grey and green is striking and the dead trees are all over Chile and Argentina. What are they the supposed to do, clear the parks and chop down trees so you get a view?... This was the only park in the whole of Chile and Argentina we've had to pay for, so we thought a day's hiking for 6500 pesos was great value.

Excellent walk. Magical scenery. The arrayanes bosque is a solid 11 km walk from the entrance so be ready for that. We walked there and were able to buy boat passage back to town once we were at the end; it wasn't necessary to arrange boat passage in advance (though maybe worth doing if you can to avoid the risk if you know that's your plan)
Andrew Schwartz — Google review
I was surprised of how many of the Arrayanes had lost their color compared to my last visit in 2007. Then we learned that it was because of a draught. Still an spectacular experience! We took the catamaran ( with Patagonia) and did the 11K hike back to villa La Angostura. We were quite tired the next day but completely doable even for beginners

A beautiful Park with unique trees. Paths are very well marked, and there are a few hills to get your heart rate up! There are two boat services, one route takes 45 mins, the other 60 mins. Each approaches the peninsular from opposite sides, so it is worth checking the wind direction to see which will be smoother, if that bothers you. Make sure you sit up top to fully enjoy the views, breathtaking.
The Cathedral of Our Lady of Nahuel Huapi, also known as San Carlos de Bariloche Cathedral, is a prominent Catholic church in Argentina's city of San Carlos de Bariloche. It boasts a picturesque lakefront location and features stained glass depictions of Biblical stories. The church has been standing for centuries and is made up of stone walls that provide excellent acoustics during mass.
A beautiful large Cathedral in Bariloche that sits right off the water. We were able to explore the inside of the cathedral and just admired all of the stained glass windows, the main altar and side chapels.
Worth a trip inside if traveling in Bariloche.

Rating it a 5 star because of it close location to the beautiful lake and its amazing mountains. The view is exceptional. Also, it has a large front and back yard to relax on a afternoon
Finally, it is in the main center of the town. Entrance is free.

The Centro Cívico (Civic Center) of Bariloche is a beautiful and historic building that attracts tourists and locals alike. The architecture is inspired by Alpine villages, and features a museum with paintings, postcards, and photos from around the town and Lake District. It's a great place to buy souvenirs or just hang out. Occasionally there are events in the square, but it's generally quite mellow.
It's a beautiful place. All surrounded by historical buildings, mountains and a lovely lake. A great place to be visited.

Centro Cívico, R8400 San Carlos de Bariloche, Río Negro, Argentina
Nahuel Huapi is a vast national park established in 1903 and is located in the southwestern Neuquen and western Rio Negro provinces of Argentina. It features majestic mountains, serene lakes, and lush forests that cover an area of 7500 sq km. The crown jewel of the park is Lago Nahuel Huapi which spans more than 500 sq km and serves as the source for Rio Limay- a significant tributary to Rio Negro.
Pristine National Park in Argentina with the blue waters of the lake set against the snow capped mountains when we visited in October.
Many view points along the road as you hug the lake with one or two large viewing platforms providing beautiful 180 degree views of the area.
Simply breathtaking.

Each season has its own wonder. flowers and birds in spring, silent falling snow in winter with hares and foxes running when you least expect. and I can go on with the hot summer with small waterfalls, never ending nights watching the stars. and at last the autumn with reds covering the forest. its a marvellous place... always, even when the wind blows and the rain falls, and you can do nothing but watch...

Piedras Blancas is a winter wonderland offering a variety of activities for all ages. From ziplines and snow tubing to skiing and hiking, there's something for everyone. For the more adventurous, sports climbing below Cerro Otto provides stunning views of Nahuel Huapi and the surrounding mountains. While the park offers fun at lower prices than nearby ski resorts, visitors should be prepared for potentially expensive food and beverage costs on-site.
Good fun all day... once you managed to buy the entrance tickets and get all the necessary gear, all these might over an hour in line waiting. Safety measures are well run. The day we spent there it snowed, therefore, had more fun on every activity.
IF Mussi — Google review
Wonderful place! You don't need to do anything really, in order to enjoy this place. View is amazing, activities or just playing in the snow. Highly recommend.

The place is great to enjoy with kids. However if you go during high season get ready to wait up to 40 minutes to access each attraction

Great fun multiple tracks for sledging. 20,000 pesos for entrance and six lifts up including the small sledges(trineos). Helmets goggles and boots extra if needed.
Long queues to get in but mainly caused by people asking lots of questions. Don’t know why as the board beside the entrance tells you all the ticket prices. It was just over £20 each all included.
We drove up. The road is a steep dirt track. Plenty of parking at the top but a bit muddy.
Jim — Google review
Great winter park, especially for kids, offering lower prices than the prices of the Cerro Catedral ski center and having lots of fun riding the speedy "trineos" and ziplines. If it snows there days before your visit, you will enjoy all the tracks with a lot of ice.
The only regrets are the expensive prices of food and beverages at the restaurant.
Adalberto Gonçalves — Google review

A really fun day. Great for kids and people with no experience in skying, the zip line was just out of this world, the waiting line was a little long but it was absolutely worth it, I absolutely recommend it. We went there when there still was quite a lot of snow, but in low season, so waiting lines for sledding were almost non existent. Helmet and goggles are not a requirement but we got them nevertheless.

Cerro Otto, R8400 San Carlos de Bariloche, Río Negro, Argentina
Cerro Otto, also known as "Piedra de Habsburgo" to tourists, is a mountain in the Nahuel Huapi National Park of Patagonia, Argentina. Standing at 1405 meters above sea level and accessible by cable car or trekking trail, it offers activities such as hiking, biking and cross-country skiing.
Beautiful place and walk with friends. Not too challenging and depending how close you can get to it in a vehicle you can do this as a day trek in just a few hours. The views are stunning and it’s one of the best examples of Lenga trees. It’s frustrating that part of the trek goes through “private land” of the Aralauquen estate - how on earth was part of a national park (and a large part at that) sold privately to become a playground for Bariloche’s rich and famous. Disgraceful really and surely there must have been some brown envelopes passed to ensure that this happened. In any case it’s a beautiful landscape and the views over Lago Gutierrez are sublime. Hopefully the whole trek returns to public hands soon.

We were there in Dec, 2023. You can buy a ticket at the small kiosk in central Bariloche that gives you bus transport both ways (once an hour) and the cable car up and down. They have a price for seniors too, even if you are a tourist. And they take credit card payment. You can also walk up apparently in less than an hour. Great views from the top and a rotating cafe. There are also various outdoor activities like a zipline and maze. Well worth at least one visit. Need 3 hours minimum.

Fantastic mountaintop outdoorsman's dream. This venue has everything to keep a lover of the outdoors busy for many days and repeated trips to take advantage of all of the offerings.
Accessible by car on a challenging gravel road to the top of the mountain. Hiking available. Parking is at a premium however!
Many trails of various challenge levels. Highly recommended. Fantastic scenery.

The ride on the gondola is fun, the views are spectacular and there is plenty of food and drinks at the summit... about 1/3 of the top was closed for repair and much of the outside areas were also closed for repairs... it's a beautiful location but could be updated and repaired... so much more potential! It is worth the trip if in Bariloche...
Michael “Wolfy” Howes — Google review
It's a fun alternative to Cerro Catedral if you have kids in your party. There are free shuttles to the base of the Cerro, but you have to buy your ticket to the gondola (adults are $900, kinds under 6 are free) before getting on the shuttle. The ride up the mountain in the gondola is beautiful, you get incredible views. Once at the top, there is a restaurant that rotates so you get 360 views. Food is just ok, there was a long wait (it was lunchtime), and the poor servers weren't able to keep up with the amount of people.
There are some outdoor games, more fantastic views, and then you have the Circuito Otto -- cute little hike with a tour guide (ours was super friendly and funny) where you go through a hanging bridge, a fun house with mirrors, and a maze. Everything is small and kinda falling apart, but really fun to do with young kids. My kids are 3 and 5 -- they had tons of fun and left exhausted.
You can do Cerro Otto in a long half day, or a late-start full day. Worth going!

Beautiful blue-water lake surrounded by snowy mountains, very much like Tahoe. But boat excursions are pure mass tourism - big boats / catamarans crammed with kids and loud people, big lines in and out the boat, pricey, noisy with very poor experience. A scene from Hell. Nothing to do with the spectacular scenery. What a waste. How idiocy seems to always prevail

Colonia Suiza is a charming village located in Río Negro Province, Patagonia, Argentina. The area is rich in Swiss heritage and features picturesque chalets nestled amidst the stunning landscape of snow-capped Andean mountains, glacial lakes, and lush forests. Visitors can explore the local market known for its traditional dish called curanto, a stew cooked on hot rocks in the ground.
Mascardi Lake, located on the edge of Ruta 40, offers a picturesque setting with dramatic mountain views. It is a popular spot for kayaking and fishing. The lake's history dates back to the time of Jesuit missionaries and local tribes who kept their trade routes secret from foreigners. Quenquemtreu, Río, R8430 El Bolsón, Río Negro, Argentina
Plaza Pagano in El Bolsón, Río Negro hosts the Feria artesanal El Bolsón, a vibrant market featuring over 300 local artists selling a wide array of handmade crafts and delicacies. From wooden cutting boards to jewelry and traditional mate gourds, visitors can explore the diverse offerings while enjoying local food vendors. The market operates at half-tilt on sunny Sundays and offers a unique opportunity to immerse in the region's artistic scene.
Very beautiful art all around. From knife making , to the traditional bombillas , sweets , empanadas , painting, jewelry and so many things. Enjoy 😁😎🤗

Nice plaza and beautiful grass and sculptures. I like the fact you can sit on the grass and enjoy the mountain views. It would be great if they added benches. However they have seats with no back support if you desire.

One of the nicest cities from La comarca, good to spend weekend or a week if you like to go for the hikes that are around the city.

A beautiful place in Patagonia (El Bolsón) I call it the home of Andrés Calamares, a very cozy place for international and local tourism, we just have to take advantage of geographically knowing everything beautiful

(Translated by Google) It's really a dream!! The 45-minute walk to reach the Blue River where the stone is in the middle is highly recommended.
I recommend leaving the car in the parking lot, it costs $300 per car. It is the only place to go to the bathroom, then it is all trail and there is only one campsite but private. The walk from the parking lot to the end takes 45 minutes to an hour.
Where it can take a while is on the bridge part because only one person can pass.
The road from the center of Bolson to the parking lot is all dirt but in good condition. And the walking trail is suitable for everyone. Excellent place!! 👏🏻

Excelente lugar!! 👏🏻

We had such a lovely day out with Pedro. We did a tour around the lake with him. It was so beautiful and his kayaks were good quality, amazing food as well. I’d definitely recommend it and it’s great value for money

I highly recommend going on a kayak tour with Pedro when you are around El Bolsón. This is a family runned place and they are very kind and friendly. We got picked up at the hostel in El Bolsón at 10 am and we had an amazing day until 8 pm, when they brought us back to our place. Very yummy food during the day and a nice experience to paddle on the cristal clear water.

(Translated by Google) I arrived at the Puerto Bonito Municipal Reserve from El Bolsón by bus (La Golondrina) that runs several times a day. The lake is impressive, like every lake in Patagonia. It stands out for its transparent water (one of the most transparent in Argentina due to the few sediments it has). From the Reserve you can do several treks of different difficulties: one that runs along several beaches on the lake, ideal for resting, drinking mate and daring to dive. Bahía el Desafío and Las Percas go around the lake between forests and stone paths. Admission is free, although you have to pay for parking if you go by vehicle. There are bathrooms, areas where you can buy food.

To do the latter, I had many doubts about my physical capacity that the company's operators cleared up. Very friendly everyone, a wonderful experience to get to a spectacular place. My congratulations to Pablo and Daniel (to whom I worked the most haha) with whom we interacted the most because they were on both excursions and Verónica and Santiago on one. Highly recommended company!

(Translated by Google) The excursion to the glacier was tremendous! First you take a trip by boat for approximately 20', then comes the quieter trekking through the forest, always with the guide who explains everything to you at all times, then follows the river part (pay attention to the instructions to take double shoes) and at this point, he highlighted that no one in the group wore double shoes and the guide shared shoes for each of us (a beautiful gesture). Then comes the hard part of climbing to the glacier lagoon (it will have been more than an hour of steep climbing) and there we stop to have lunch next to the lagoon. Then you descend and repeat the section. The guide and the captain of ten, we felt safe, attentive, and cared for at all times, even considering that it is not a simple excursion, it is full of bugs and height and I repeat, you go up and down a lot. It's not cheap but it's worth it, at the January price of 110 thousand.
