(Translated by Google) This imposing parish is very beautiful, located on one side of the Plaza Alfonso López, in the heart of the old city, it was the only parish since the founding of the City. Initially it was located in the place where the Municipal Council headquarters is today, as the visitor can see in the mural located between the Mayor's building and the Council headquarters. In the 17th century, the Tupes Indians set fire to the village, completely burning the Church, which was then known as the Church of the Three Wise Men.

I love this place. Honestly one of the best rides of my life and I did a lot. You can feel the positive energy in the nature, and see that the horses are taken care of very nicely. The landscape you’ll encounter are just magical. You’ll go trough rivers and might meet some indigenous people. The surroundings are very local and not touristic, all while being a super safe area, even for solo travelling. It’s super close to Palomino (15min) and the hosts will organise your pickup from the city. Overall super recommended!!

Thanks for the nice tour. We liked everything about it. From the (funny) pick-up to the introduction and the tour itself till the whole communication and the way they took care about us and the horses. Everyone got a matching horse depending on the experience and a little introduction.

My wife and I loved Horseshoe Tours and the three day trek into the jungle. We stayed at local family homes, enjoyed local food, visited indigenous villages, hiked to waterfalls, rode across rivers and mountain ridge lines with amazing panoramic views. Our guide was outstanding and made sure we had everything we needed and were taken care of at all times. We stayed an extra day at the main house on the ranch and had delicious meals and did an evening ride with a river swim. The owner was wonderful and extremely quick to communicate, she answered all of our questions and helped to plan a package that worked with our experience and needs. We have been on many horse treks in different countries and this is very unique and an adventure of it's own. We can't wait to return in the future for more riding and to stay in one of the new cabins.

Pozo Azul in Minca is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike, featuring a series of cascades, natural pools, and scenic trails set in a forested valley. While the entrance is reportedly free, there have been conflicting reports about an entrance fee. Visitors are advised to be cautious about strong currents in the main part of the area and to avoid swimming in certain areas. The site tends to get crowded on Sundays but can be more peaceful later in the day or early morning.
Really worth checking this place out. I came here in the evening when it was a lot quieter. I would recommend going later in the evening or early on the morning as it's a lot less busy. The waterfall is amazing and the water is just the right temperature. Overall I would highly recommend this place and will be returning

I don't really know to be honest. After all the hype I heard about it I was kinda dissappointed when we arrived. Yes it is a cool place... but is it really that special? Not really in my opinion.

This place is a must visit in Minca!! It's not clear if they charge an entrance fee or not. They didn't charge me but a British couple I met told me they had to pay. Is not allowed to swim in the first part of Poco Azul. Currents are very strong on the main part and the mini pool on the top. There are several sellers offering snacks and local food.
Deric Lima (Zuka) — Google review
Very coool place to go swimming. The secret is to go very early in the morning and to be there at 8 because after all the tourists are coming and you cannot enjoy it. Be careful it’s a river so it is quite called in the morning.

Very nice tranquil area, water was lovely and refreshing after the walk there
Grainne Fennelly — Google review
The water is nice and cool - a welcomed joy after a long hike. The place gets pretty crowded, though, so I didn't stay long. I think the locals use the word "waterfall" quite loosely - this is the second waterfall I checked out in two days that doesn't quite fit the bill in my mind ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ some guys were jumping into the water so I suppose it is a mini waterfall. Either way, people were having a good time hiding from the heat.
Lucy — Google review
Very touristic area with a rather unspectacular waterfall.
The road to Pozo Azul is not ver good, but you can still take a motorbike or motortaxi to get there. Parking is 2000$ COP.
The area has some food stalls and you can walk around to a higher area to jump down. The water is very cool, and it gets super crowded - so if you want to be their alone, go early - but be sure the water will be very fresh.
It‘s okay, but if you have seen waterfalls before this is not really interesting or in any way beautiful.
Christian Wisniewski — Google review
Nice enough place to have a quick dip. It does get crowded, if you climb past the first 2 or 3 pools it's less crowded. But can be a bit tricky to climb/walk to.
We walked from mundo neuvo Lodge, which took about an hour and a half. Beautiful walk down!
Really liked that you don't have to pay to get in. Makes a nice change!

Birdwatching Adventures Jungle Joe Minca Tours offers a 3-hour tour through the woods surrounding Minca, providing the opportunity to observe tropical birds such as toucans and hummingbirds. The tour includes a knowledgeable guide who is dedicated to showcasing as many bird species as possible. At the end of the trip, participants can enjoy coffee or hot chocolate while watching hummingbirds drink nectar and observing howler monkeys nearby.
Went with the Guide Sam and he was awesome from the first minute. So energetic about the birdwatching! He carried a speaker to play the different sounds of the birds and was great spotting them as well knowledge about them. He even kept count of all of them and ended on 35 different species of birds! We walked 4,5 km and got some binoculars. Will recommend the tour with Sam!

We went on a birdwatching tour with Tony and it was fantastic. Tony and Joe are very enthusiastic about the diversity of Colombia and Minca especially. The tour was an early morning start so we say lots of different birds and it wasn't too hot. Tony is a wealth of information and made the tour for us. In fact we had such a good time that we went back 2 day later and did a different route.

This was my first time birdwatching and it was absolutely awesome! Gustavo was a fantastic guide. He could identify all the bird calls and found so many birds I never would have seen otherwise! Absolutely wonderful birdwatching tour with the super enthusiastic and knowledgeable Tony Martin. He spotted so many birds I would never have been able to see myself. This is one of my highlights of Colombia! Our guide was Tony Martin, he is a very nice guy and his spotting ability is incredible, from the smallest birds in the tree to an iguana camouflaged in a tree 50 metres away.
I said when we met that I would love to see a toucan, he remembered this and when we got to the coffee stop he listened out for them and we got to see 5 or 6. I understand he did not order them but the attention he gave was fantastic. Highly recommended tour for Minca, Tony also speaks Spanish and English so you do not miss out on anything

An excellent 3.5 hour gentle walk into the foothills above Minca today with an excellent, very knowledgeable biologist guide. Everyone was provided with Nikon binoculars. All for 10€
I can’t recommend more.

Great experience! They really take care of you from start to finish! The guide also did everything he could so we could see Toucans and we did! We saw 3 😁 we stopped for coffee and pastries too!

Birdwatching with Jungle Joe was an awesome experience. I highly recommend it - you’ll get to see plenty of beautiful birds.
Also! Samir, one of the guides, is an incredible person. He drove us up to Cerro Kennedy and to Cascada Jaguar for an extremely reasonable price. Not to mention, he’s very friendly and charismatic. He deserves all the praise he gets!

Book the bird tour for the binoculars, not for the guide. The first hour was really good, but then we went for a whole hour "relaxing and drink as much coffee as you like" at the birds observatory. Cool to see hummingbirds but I can do that on my own without waking up at 5am. We then backtracked the same route and were back 20 minutes early.

This was the best tour guide and tour we booked on our two month trip in Latin America! Our tour guide mr Tony (if I remember his name well) is a great human being , explains everything perfectly in Spanish and English, and is full of humour and good energy! The tour included free transportation from Santa Marta and a delicious meal, cacao seminar and visit to a coffee farm! The waterfall also was amazing! I want to thank everyone who is involved and I can only highly recommend this tour to everyone who wants to explore the beauty of Minca! All the best, the Greeks !

We usually do reasonably well on hikes and hike a lot, but this hike was difficult. It seemed rushed from the very start. The guide walked extremely fast, and it was difficult to take everything in given you had to keep your eyes on the ground. The whole time given the pace. Would’ve been nice to be able to spend more time at the waterfall.
The guide did not allow us to put on bug spray before going to the waterfall. I assume because of contamination in the water, however, a number of us ended up with lots of small flea bites on our legs. Recommend putting on bug spray before you get to the pick up location.
The coffee experience was at a very small farm and in a lovely location. It’s not a coffee tasting, given that you get one cup of coffee. The person who did the chocolate demonstration did a wonderful job and that was very interesting.
Hindsight, we would’ve been better off just going to Minca and doing the hike to the waterfall ourselves.
Sona Andrews — Google review
Overall, we liked the tour and are glad we did it. Tony our guide was really great, he was passionate and tried to make sure everyone could see the birds. The guy who sold the tickets out the front (not any of the guides) was rude. Unfortunately the groups are big (up to 12 people) so it was quite a noisy tour meaning a lot of the wildlife was scared away before you could see it. We still managed to find toucans, iguanas and many other species of birds.

Imagine an early morning walk through the woods surrounding Minca while observing tropical birds such as tucans and hummingbirds with your binoculars. Jungle Joes offers birdwatching tours daily from 6-9 am for $50000. Our tour guide Gustavo was very knowledgeable and driven to show us as many birds as possible.
At the end of the trip, we stopped at a small finca where a lovely lady served coffee or hot chocolate ($5000) while watching the hummingbirds drink nectar and the howler monkeys nearby. It was such a peaceful and serene experience.
Upon request, they will share pictures of all birds that you’ve observed.
Would highly recommend it as you learn a lot about the surrounding area, flora and fauna.

The best Birdwatching Tour there is in Minca! Fun for all levels ranging from beginner, to intermediate or advanced. Our Guide Gustavo has 32 years of experience. Even though I’d done previous hikes in the area, he still managed to show us 15 new species for me. The best one’s were definitely the Keel-Billed Toucan pair and nest, the broad-winged Hawk eating a cicade right above us, the Ferruginous Pigmy-owl and the lineated woodpecker. The list of everything we’ve seen combined with the pictures was provided by the guide at the end, so you can enjoy your time watching the birds.
Besides tons of hummingbirds (trompeteers and plumelets) as well as a yellow-backed oriole that sits on your hand trying to eat your banana.
He also made a lot of recommendations for hikes around the area to go birding yourself. It was amazing!
I did use my own binoculars, but the others that used the binoculars given by the company managed to see all the birds I’ve seen as well, however less detailed probably.
Add-on: today I went for a second time after trying to find macaws myself. Gustavo created a special route for us to have the best possibility of finding them. We did not, however thats also birding. He told me to keep looking and the next months even in other parts of the world, If I see some birds that I want more information on, I can always ask him for help. Seriously, this company and especially Gustavo; they’re awesome! Definitely worth the money.
Timo Roskam — Google review
Gustavo is a great guide - our group was nearly put off by some of the negative reviews but we are so glad we went on the bird tour.
Gustavo was professional and made a lot of effort to make sure everyone in the group could see and identify the birds. The group was split into two so we had a decent size of 13 which didnt feel unmanageable and we had good views of over 40 different birds, we saw manu Tucans super close up.
Gustavo was really good at spotting them and tracking them so we could get a better view.
One of the highlights of our trip in Minca and 100% worth the early start.

Diagonal a la Iglesia Minca / Santa Marta/ Colombia Car 5 #2-06, Minca, Santa Marta, Santa Marta, Magdalena, Colombia
Parque Nacional Natural Tayrona is a magnificent natural park in Colombia, featuring a stunning coastline of palm-fringed beaches and lush mountains. The area also boasts pre-Hispanic ruins, adding historical significance to the picturesque environment. Accessible only by foot, horseback or boat due to the steep mountain terrain blocking off the main road, this national park provides an exciting but sometimes challenging experience for visitors.
Amazing experience. I went in a rainfall season so I couldn’t dive into the waters and the path was muddy and savage to cross. And I say that as positive, if you enjoy some randonné yourself, this is the perfect place near Santa Marta. You’ll find yourself with other tourists and a feeling of safety during your walk. Also be prepared to meet Colombia’s mangrove swamps, just be sure to not have cuts on your feet and to clean them properly after your walk. There is also a selection of treetop bungalows and a camping area to stay the night.

After a long drive to get there it was worth the wait. Going on the boat to the beach was fun. Once we got there the views were spectacular. If you don't like fish to eat then you very limited. The local sweets and drinks were very good. Had a great time here

Tayrona park was an amazing experience. It has magnificent views throughout the Path and is definitely worth visiting. Just be mindful of s few things. It's very warm and 2h30 walking each way, so go prepared! It is about 100 pesos per person and you can pay an extra to park the car inside the park. Bring cash since many places, including washrooms, reqyire cash.

Gorgeous and a must see!
Did the 5 mile hike to Cabo San Juan to camp in the tents off the beach, and it was absolutely worth it.

Great place, amazing nature, stunning beaches. We saw a lot of trash tho maybe because there weren't many trash bins (of course this doesn't mean to throw the trash in the nature). The trekking is not good signaled so be sure to ask other people when not sure for the way.
Magdalena Boneva — Google review
Such an amazing place, if you are in Colombia make your way to see Tayrona. We did the walking through the jungle which is a route of roughly 15 km to and return Cabo San Juan. You might spot monkeys, rare birds and the trip is quite unique, but you need to be able to climb and proceed through mixed terrain.
Buy water before entering. You can take a bus from the park entrance and to the trail start, which spares you 20 minutes walking on concrete. It cost around 10.000 pesos.

Large natural park with amazing scenery and beaches. Bring cash for entry (more for foreigners), boat trips to the nice beaches, and any food and drinks while you’re there. Get a “tent” so you have shade.

I do not recommend it at this time.
This place, apart from being a beautiful reserve, is currently in very poor condition for access to the beaches and other activities, the rains have turned the access roads into mud, we were all desperate to get out of there as soon as possible, the mud reached us half a leg and many tourists choose to rent horses to be able to move forward and this makes everything even worse,
only 30% of the roads are made of wood, the rest of the access is through very narrow stones, dirt roads, streams, and areas of much vegetation with almost no access, food is expensive, and it is not safe for older adults or infants, there is no assistance in case of emergencies during the walk and you have to buy insurance worth 5000 Colombian pesos and I only saw 2 people supposed to help at the beginning and almost at the end of the trail.
Patricia Gutierrez — Google review
Beautiful place, gorgeous beaches and a must go for hikers, for newcomers please keep and eye on the signs and DO NOT go into the turtle beaches, as people walk they compress the sand and when baby turtles hatch they are unable to reach the surface and die.

Awesome beaches and wildlife but this National Park is not well maintained and managed: rest area used by vendors to sell stuff, horse feces on the trail, garbage on the trail, vandalized signs, coconut leftovers everywhere on the trail, few trash cans available, paying bathrooms.
To the park management:
- This park is a top spot in Colombia , but it gives a bad image if compared to other top international natural parks.
- Serious waste management is needed
- Vendors should have a delimited activity area
- Only natural elements should be used for construction
- Horseriding should only occur on a dedicated path
- Signs should be repainted

Quinta de San Pedro Alejandrino, a colonial hacienda dating back to the XVII century, is known for being revolutionary leader Simon Bolivar's final residence. Today, it operates as an open museum featuring art from the countries he helped free and a botanical garden. Visitors can take guided tours of the former hacienda, where they can view Bolivar's bed and personal items at the time of his death in 1830.
This is an important place for the Latin American history. The prices are fine and the tour guide is very good, they have students well versed in the history and they are super nice. Our guide was Zaid and he showed us the house and the amazing details of this place. Come and leave a nice tip!

The place needs better maintenance. Somewhere disappointing.

A must if you are in Santa Marta. The guides, while young, are knowledgeable. They will answer most questions you ask. The locations are nice and after the tour, you are allowed to check out the different locations at your own pace. The guides are not paid, but they make some well deserved money out of tips.

Must-do visit if you are in Santa Marta and would like to learn more about Colombian history. Here is where Simon Bolivar died. The landscape is sublime and beautifully maintained. The guided tour is friendly and perfect to get all the little details about what happened at this place back in the 1800’s. A lot of tourists from cruises come here so the place is full with dancers and activities to showcase the Caribbean culture. Great family trip!

Be ready to sweat and be hot, other than that; beautiful place with a lot of history. You’ll be walking the same ground slaves walked hundreds of years ago, you can almost feel their pain. The same ground goes for the ground Simon Bolivar walked. What an experience. Easter egg: people from that time were very very short and big headed, you’ll see.

Poor maintenance old and abandoned structures. Signs are broken and sometimes warned out. Its a shame that the country's most prized founder is neglected. Its a botanical garden of weeds and nothing more. Main structure was painted and it seemed they just threw the paint because its all over the floors. Outsiders pay more than locals so be aware. Its almost the country's founding aniversary and nothing done to look its best. Shame.
Eric Rivera — Google review
Tour felt a little rushed but to be fair, I arrived near closing time. The humidity was high and the speed walking made it feel more like a light exercise than a tour. I would recommend arriving several hours before closing time, wearing comfortable breathable fabrics, as well as comfortable shoes. The space that you cover isn't that big, so you can take in the entire experience in an hour.
Hector Corporan — Google review
Good preserved buildings and monuments about the death of Simon Bolivar, however the botanical garden is not taken care and therefore looks bad. A guided tour is available and also quite good, possible in Spanish and English.
Lars Witte — Google review
It says botanic garden, but at the end nobody explain anything about the plants or the animals in the place.
You can have a guide, they are students and you give them the tip you considered fair for their work. Thay talk about the history of the house, their owners and the last day of Simón Bolivar there.
I think they could have more information but is it still a good information they give.
Candy Tellez — Google review
It’s a lovely historical place, good for a quick exploration but the museum was empty/closed for reasons unknown. The grounds were a bit untidy and they had no English speaking guides at all. I do acknowledge that we are in a Spanish speaking country BUT I feel like it’s good practice to have at least one English speaking guide at tourist/historical sites like these :)

A historic place that includes a free guide with the ticket just make sure to tip them. A mix of a botanical garden, a bit of art and a tribute to the last days of the man Who was the liberator of America, Don Simon Bolívar. The Catedral Basílica de Santa Marta is a Catholic church located in the Historic Center of Santa Marta. The building features a bell tower and is adorned with religious paintings and statues. It took over 30 years to complete due to frequent pirate attacks that burned down the town more than 20 times.

Los Novios Santa Marta Park is the go-to spot for lively nightlife in the historic city of Santa Marta. With a variety of restaurants and bars, it's the perfect place to spend an evening exploring the city's sights and sounds.
Great park in the city. This is my go-to place in Santa Marta when I want to party or just enjoy people-watching over some drinks at a streetside bar. Very colorful and interesting and a place I keep coming back to. A must-visit for anyone coming to Santa Marta, even if it's just to have a walk around it.

It would be nice if you weren’t harassed by every single person to buy something. My friends were literally afraid to go down most streets at night and they are Colombian. I wasn’t afraid but there wasn’t any savory people to interact with. Most people just stare at you or ask for money or just look like they may rob you. I wouldn’t come here alone.

BE VERY CAREFUL. There are women who solicit and men they work with who will target you especially as foreigners. I’ve seen them following many people especially people who seem drunk and chatting them up. Even when you ignore them or say no many times they follow you and try to get close or touch you then pickpocket you. I’ve caught them in the act. If you decline them they ask for help to get some food and then wait to rob you there. I fell into this trap and bought them hamburgers then had to literally had to fight off 3 of them at the same time when they tried to snatch my wallet and phone. I went back to take pictures so you can be aware.

Parque de los Novios is a great place to people watch, dine in the mini restaurants nearby, grab a drink and walk while checking out the street performances. There are lots of police around so it feels safe. They are also mini benches but some of the bars are missing. All I enjoy walking by here in the evening or early mornings for exercise. When it rains everyone gathers underneath the shelter and it’s very cute. You can also find people selling beer and ice cream. But overall my favorite are the street performers.

I'll never travel to Santa Marta without this trip planner again
Ciudad Perdida Teyuna, also known as the Lost City Trek, is a challenging yet rewarding adventure in Santa Marta. This ancient Inca ruin, older than Machu Picchu and nestled high in the Sierra Nevada mountains, requires at least four days of hiking through the jungle. The trek offers well-organized infrastructure with comfortable camps and quality food supplies.
Let me tell you, Teyuna Tours is the best tour company to go with when hiking the Lost City. The thing that sets this tour company apart is their guides and their employees. Miguel was the greatest guide that I've had the opportunity to spend time with. His wealth of knowledge and his conversations made this memorable trek into a trek that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. The other staff such as their cook and their driver were also fantastic who made sure that every possible need was taken care of.
If you want to book a Lost City tour, I highly recommend this tour company and ask for Miguel to be your guide, he is above and beyond the best guide out there!
Sincerely,
Capitan Joe

This company was excellent. Very helpful and organised and good vehicles. The guides are indigenous to the area which makes a difference as they are known in the villages and you can meet the Shaman if you like. We saw other treks giving sweets to kids and not being so respectful with photography. This is a very sensitive area for tourism as people are living as they have for 1000's of years in the mountains. Great time, hard walking for sure. The distances are more then the chart says as it's 'as the crow flies'! Our guides were Luis, Andres, Jonathan (chef very good food) and Ruth. Thanks to you all

We did the 4 days trek with Teyuna to the Lost City. It was a challenge, but definitely worth it. The infrastructure of the camps and the food supplies are way better than we expected it from a 4 day Jungle Hike. We felt safe at any time. Our guides Carlos and Juan did an amazing job about guiding us safely through the jungle and telling us the history about the Lost City and the indigenous people. Also our chef Carlos did a great job in serving our needs. They made this trek an experience we will never forget! When you're in columbia for hiking and nature then the Lost City Trek with Teyuna is a must!

Teyuna Tours is a modern and very organized agency, it has a team of professionals of the highest level, very responsible, who are willing to collaborate in everything you need with great kindness and always with a smile. Had an amazing birthday trek to the Lost City in La Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta with my mom and brother, and going with Teyuna as our guides was the best decision ever! The views, history, and whole experience were incredible, but what really stood out was the fantastic service from our guides.
Teyuna's crew was not just professional but also super friendly and considerate, especially since we were the slowest and oldest in the group. They kept us motivated and never made us feel left behind, making the journey enjoyable. Big thanks to the chef and kitchen team as well – the food was absolutely delicious and added a special touch to our adventure. Accommodations were rustic but clean and cozy.
And can I just say, the birthday cake surprise at the end was the sweetest gesture!
Overall, this trek is a must-do – safe, enjoyable, and with tasty treats along the way. Highly recommend for an unforgettable adventure! 🌄🎂 (this review should’ve been done 7 months ago… but better late than never 🙈)

A trip to The Lost City with the Teyuna Tours agency was an absolutely amazing and unforgettable experience. Our guides Hernan (native speaker) and Niko (translator) were great companions throughout the trip, they were friendly, funny, helpful and they provided us many many informations about the trip, the life of the local people and everything related to the area. The food made by our Chef Isodro was varied and delicious for the whole time. The food was supplemented with the fruit at the breaks during the trip.
The guys in the office were very friendly and helpful too, it’s possible to store your luggage here during the trip. For the fee of 100K pesos, you can rent two trekking poles + 20 litres bag (definitely worth it!). You can find all the necessary informations on their web pages, which are very well composed.
About camps: There is the free filtered water available or you can buy something at the stands during the trip (water, fizzy drinks, beer, some snacks). The accommodations are the same for all the agencies, it was basic but sufficient, according to the kind of the trip (the only minus – in the third camp Paraíso, the mosquito nets were very smelly).
In general, the experience with the tour was beyond our expecations. We were very lucky and the whole group of “Teyuna Family” was great and all the people there will stay in our hearts forever!!!! ❤❤❤

Teyuna Tours were absolutely perfect! Jeison our guide, Fabian our translator and Alberto the chef were incredible. So attentive, accomodating to our dietary restrictions (gluten free/vegan) and full of knowledge of the history and indigenous communities and really enjoy their job. They made this already incredible experience so memorable. It’s not an easy trek, but extremely doable in 4 days, and the Lost City is pure magic. Don’t even look further when booking a company - these guys have planned it out meticulously.

Okay so to start it off, I hike a lot in Canada, and found this hike challenging so come prepared!!! The hike is a wet one (humidity) (I brought cotton and it was soaked every day and never fully dried), also chunklas are a must for the camps. The hike was wonderful and beautiful at every turn, I would recommend getting acclimatized to be heat if your from a cold climate cause this baddie was 🥵. Bring bug spray (strong deet) and have some handy in a lil pocket cause the little mosquitos don't play around. Also this trip was one of the best trips of my life I would recommend it anyone who even vaguely enjoys type two fun I'd say it's a must do, everyone was amazing in our group and so happy to help each other:). The best part of the trip though was how wonderful MIGUEL (our guide) was. He was so knowledgeable about everything and was always happy to teach us about the history of the area and the wildlife. He also taught us about the indigenous people in the area currently! With Miguel I never felt scared or unsafe the entire trip thanks to good communication and reassurance that we could do it. Miguel was always willing to make time for us and ontop of that he is a fantastic story teller who took pride and joy in every aspect of his job. Over all this will probably be one of the best experiences of my life. Also there's soo many people doing the hike and they were all hiking at different places so don't worry about being slow and remember to enjoy the nature and the connection you'll make with people along the way. Also I have servers allergies and they were more than happy to accommodate my needs where possible with some notice.

Hiking to Teyuna in the Sierra Nevada was an unforgettable experience. Truly unique. Our guide Micael was super knowledgeable of the area and our translator Nico was super helpful and fun, really made the whole experience so enjoyable. Deivi, our cook was also great and made us nice food for every meal and made sure we didn’t starve! Everything was carefully planned, and it made the hike seamless and enjoyable.
The only downside was the price I would say which is quite high!

I felt like we had the best tour guides of all the tours I saw going up. Truly they were well organized, took good care of us, the food was abundant, and their general attitude was positive towards their customers , the land, the indigenous people, and their staff.

First of all i am very happy that i decided to go with Teyuna Tours to the lost city.
From the communication before, the pickup and the whole service everything was organized perfectly.
A few points to highlight:
- A pickup is possible without a surcharge also from other places arround (in my case Minca)
- Luggage can be stored at the office during the hike
- Our guides Luis and Jesus („Buffalo“) were excellent and taking very good care during the hike and made everybody feel safe. Also Luis provided a lot of infos in the evening about the history and the indigenous people of the area and shared a lot of his experiences
- The kitchen team (Yulieris) did their absolute best to serve a good breakfast, lunch and dinner every day.
- Our group had 10 people, the max amount seems to be 15.
What you should know before doing the hike:
- An intermediate level of fitness is recommended if you want to have fun
- Proper hiking or trekking shoes and outdoor/sports clothing are definetely recommend (needs to be fast drying)
- Accomodations are simple bunk beds (but clean and fairly new), pillows and blankets were provided.
- Dietary requirements can be arranged, ideally discuss it in advance so the team can prepare for it.
Overall i can recommend doing the tour to the lost city with Teyuna Tours.

Wowowow amazing trek!! We had perfect weather and very little other groups out as well. Maybe 60 people at the ruins our day. The food along the way was hit or miss. One night there was a tuna pasta that was almost inedible. But the other meals were passable. The best was the fried whole fish the first night. I would recommend bringing some snacks if you want something healthy. The tiendas sell most chips and junk candy bars. There is always water and Gatorade and beer to buy along the way so you will never need to over carry supplies in your pack. Definitely buy the banana cake on the second to last store on the first day hike. Swimming daily in the river was a life saver!!

I highly recommend booking a Lost City trek through Teyuna tours. From the communication prior to the trek all the way until dropping us at our hostel after the trek, the experience was organized and enjoyable.
I had never done a multi-day trek like this, but I felt well taken care of by our guide Pedro and Interpreter Andres. They provided interesting info and personal stories along the way and took good care of us in the camps. The food and camps were better than I would have expected and had all the essentials to help you rest and recharge for the next day of the trek.
We lucked out and had great weather at the beginning of February with only a little rain. Even a little rain can generate quite a bit of mud on the trail, so be prepared for the worst and look at the packing recommendations Teyuna Tours provides.
The trek itself was difficult but not too challenging. There are lots of ups and downs, so the cumulative elevation change was more than I would have guessed. It’s doable for anyone in good shape, and the guides were good to accommodate people going at different speeds.
The lost city itself was breathtaking. You have several hours in the city that make the long journey very rewarding. Thank you Pedro and Andres for an unforgettable experience!

I had an amazing experience doing this trek! The staff were so friendly and helpful! Despite being in the middle of the jungle we were hosted as kings. They went above and beyond to make this experience as authentic and comfortable as possible! I loved it and would highly recommend it! We had the privilege of being led by Jon who has some incredible stories to tell! Book it now! And do some fitness workout until then!

Cra. 1c #18-23, Comuna 2, Santa Marta, Magdalena, Colombia
The Museo del Oro Tairona - Casa de la Aduana is a bilingual museum located in the Comuna 2 area of Colombia. It is a branch of Bogota's Museo del Oro and features pre-colonial artifacts and remains from the indigenous people of Sierra Nevada and Magdalena.
One of the better museums I have visited in Latin America. The English translations were complete, and with excellent grammar. The exhibits were well laid out, interesting, and professional. I especially enjoyed the indigenous carvings, along with the explanations of their significance.
The bottom floor talks about the geological and biological history of the area, and contains the exhibits of indigenous artefacts. Continuing upstairs, you learn the specific history of Santa Marta as a city, as well as the history of the building that the museum is contained within, which was surprisingly interesting!
Oh, and it's completely free.

Very cool museum with great exhibits about the history of Santa Marta and the indigenous inhabitants and their way of life.
The gold ornaments and jewelry are amazingly detailed and there are more everyday and funerary artifacts too.
Great place to get out of the heat of the day and best of all, it's free to enter.
Thank you Santa Marta.
Phil McC — Google review
It is a place full of history that is going to help you to understand how native people lived before the colonization and all kind of things that happened after that. Actually if the house could talks, she'll tell you many interesting stories where she was present through the time. It's Free.

Absolutely stunning place, so much information, pictures and artefacts. We spent almost w hours in there. It was just beautiful to see so much of the culture and history of Colombia. I highly recommend this place, its also in English and Spanish and its free!

Wonderful museum that tells you a lot of local history from pre-colonial to modern day. Great explanations and displays! And you can't beat the price of free.

Cool museum. One room with gold objects, two with artifacts and an upstairs that’s an expanded Wikipedia entry made into a walkable exhibition. Oh yeah, Bolivars body was there briefly.

For a free Museum it is pretty nice, learned a bit more about local history and Santa Marta as a city

If you want to know part of the history of Santa Marta, this is the right place, visit it on a Sunday and the stillness will make you enjoy all the magic and charm of the place.

I had a truly wonderful experience at this museum. The collection of historic artifacts, especially the section dedicated to indigenous history, left me in awe. What made it even more special was how accommodating they were to my family. We were traveling with an elderly family member, and the museum staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly when providing a wheelchair at the entrance. I can’t recommend this place enough – it’s a must-visit for anyone, and it’s great for families too.

Fabulous and Free! This museum has excellent signage in English and Spanish. It’s got a diverse collection of pre-Colombian good goodies, indigenous information and sparse Simon Bolivar bits. Lovely shop attached if you’re looking for high end souvenirs and it’s housed in a magnificent space.
Lizzie Smith — Google review
Good museum, is not very big but with a very good organitzation. There are archeolohical and historical expositions. Free entrance
jaqsbcn — Google review
Free museum. It is small, with only a small room of gold artifacts. However, the museum consists of a lot more. The signs are almost all in English and Spanish. It has information on the pre-historic indigenous people, the indigenous cultures now, and about the significance of the historical building that houses the museum. It’s worth 1-2 hours visiting.

Carrera 2 Parque Simón Bolívar, Santa Marta, Magdalena, Colombia
Sea aquarium & maritime museum featuring shark, turtle & fish exhibits, plus dolphin shows.
Is beautiful. I love it Dolphins show. I recommended this place. Amazing
FRANCY GUGO ADVENTURES — Google review
Not the best aquarium but it is very good.
D. Fox — Google review
Short show. Good enough if you haven't been to a dolphin show in a while.
Mike Lapenna — Google review
Nice place to visit if you are close to Santa Marta or Rodadero, you can take a boat that include the transport to de aquarium and Playa blanca beach, the animals looks well cared, there are a great variety of sea animals and there is a show with the dolphins, it worth the price 👍🏼
Jose Felipe Espinosa Orjuela — Google review
It's a great experience if you would swim with the dolphins, and it's cheaper there's also canopy.
Elian Javier — Google review
This aquarium is okay- don't waste your money. All the animals outside should be released into the wild. The"tanks"are way to small. There were sharks huddled on top of one another in a small confined area. The sea turtles were really pretty but seemed confined too.
Kevin Geremia — Google review
This acuario was awesome. I booked a package for 110,000 pesos from pick up from where I was staying with entry to the aquarium. Then from there to playa Blanca and back to rodadero and taxi back to my place. But the best part was the dolphin show. It's a out 30 minutes long and it was really nice to see them play. You can also take pics of them for a charge. They have all sorts of fish on display. So you can expect to spend about 2 hours here just walking around.
Kenny Ken — Google review
This place is a MUST visit in Santa Marta. Great way to spend a nice day. Takes some 10 minutes on one of the boats from Chuchu Bar.
Many activities are available onsite. The same boats that take you there will move you around playa blanca and inka inka beach... or you can beam yourself riding a long canopy from the aquarium.
There are several fish species, huge turtles of all ages, sharks, trained dolphins and an indigenous museum full of artifacts to check out. The dolphin show was very educative, but the coolest part was being able to swim with them!.
Pedro Guillem — Google review
I spent 157.000 for the Aquarium tour and playa Blanca, and it was worth it.
Giovanni Pineda — Google review
Excellent Acuarium. Well presented and organized. Staff is courteous and sea creatures seem to be well cared. Give yourself 4 hours for the entire experience. Beach nearby is nice too.
Joel Font — Google review
it's okay if you go and buy the tickets there, there's a museum, make sure to go when the dolphin show is about to start... i paid and couldn't watch the show. there's activities but you have to pay and pay and pay
Playa Grande in Taganga is an energetic ocean cove with calm waters, perfect for snorkeling and boat rides. It's a great alternative to the crowded waterfront beach in Taganga. To avoid crowds, it's best to arrive early in the morning as it gets busier later on. The beach offers clear water and a sandy bottom, with space to leave belongings without needing to rent chairs.
a place for families and friends, bars, meals, water attractions on site. possibility of getting a place with chairs in the shade. This is not a place for those who love peace and quiet, but a few steps from the Grande beach there are wild and peaceful beaches.
RAdoslaw Dąbrowski mail prywatny — Google review
The beach itself is nice (not spectacular, but nice anyway) and has potential. The biggest issue is that there is GARBAGE EVERYWHERE, specially all along the foot paths to go to the “secret beaches” that are 10-20 min away by foot. Another issue is that the entire beach has been occupied by people renting chairs—the problem is that they are seating plastic chairs, not sunbeds, so you won’t be able to lie down and relax—only sit.
Jaime C?rdenas Castro — Google review
"Nice quite and idyllic beach" I read somewhere. Well, not really. The trail from Taganga to the beach is full of garbage and the beach is extremely overcrowded. What a disappointment ☹
Gerard Haak — Google review
Typical tourist trap beach. Pay for a boat ride to a secluded beach, get there and find 20 clapped out overloaded boats taking people there in shifts, beach is covered by hundreds of plastic chairs for rent, people trying to sell you things, they charge you to use the bathroom, stray dogs, they have one garbage can on the beach which nobody uses. Still trying to find a beach here where you aren't harassed or nickel-and-dimed constantly. This place is nothing like the photos.
Cro Magnon — Google review
Playa Grande in Taganga, Colombia, is a hidden beach gem. With its golden sands, clear waters, and serene atmosphere, it's a tranquil escape with a touch of local charm. Accessible by a short hike or boat ride, it's a must-visit for nature lovers. This hidden paradise is waiting for you to discover.
Erio Cirelli — Google review
The beach is very busy and dirty, also all the restaurant practice price fixing ensuring that all the prices are the same offering overpriced drinks and food. We purchased boat tickets from Taganda from which they said includes seating chairs, when we arrived the lady tried to charge 100,000 COP for one chair. We laughed in her face and walked two seconds across to another lady who charged us 6000 COP. The lady that tries to scam us worked at Estadero Pexdorado. I don't recommend the beach, the pictures show what it looked at from my seat on a Thursday afternoon.
Jalal Shabo — Google review
The beach itself is beautiful, but it is dirty, with plastic debris floating, more merchants than visitors, they have filled the beach with chairs and there is no room to lie down. They harass you all the time offering you things to buy and kayak rides. Even in the water they continue to offer you things, they pass by in kayaks trying to sell you rides.
Avoid at all costs.

Good beach, crowded, but has coco loco snd jet ski, also can snorkel near by, over all good beach
Mantas Svetlauskas — Google review
Be really careful when walking there, we got robbed by two teenagers with a knife at 10am in the morning… Don’t take belongings with you and rather take a boat to get there. The beach is absolutely not worth it to take the risk.
Mathias AJ — Google review
Love it! The beach is very enjoyable with clear water and sandy bottom. There’s a space to leave our belongings without hiring any plastic chairs. Yes, it’s crowded even on weekdays and the seating area could be too loud, but it’s a great place if you like to stay in the water most of the time. Only around 15-20 mins easy hike from Taganga beach.
Shintya Felicitas — Google review
The worst beach I have ever been. It's a tiny strip of sand with some plastic chairs and people bothering you constantly. It's not like any beach I've been to before and would recommend tourists really not to bother visiting.
Leigh Connelly — Google review
Another good option to visit make sure to take the complete tour river in the morning and beach in the afternoon! You'll thank me later!!
10tro MN — Google review
A very nice beach alternative to the one on the Taganga waterfront. If you dislike crowds, you'll have to get there very early (8 or 9 am) if you want most of the beach to yourself. But the crowds start coming in earnest as the morning progresses, so if you don't want to be in a crowd of people you'll be looking to leave by noon at the latest. In the pictures I provide you'll see Playa Grande when there are masses of people, and when it is early in the morning for comparison.
Check out my blog post on how to get here (see URL in photos), as well as other beaches, in the Taganga area without having to pay for a boat shuttle! It is a nice hike.
Mark Sugalski — Google review
Too many people, too much boats 🚤…don’t waste your time and money. Go to another beach. This one is cheaper go get, only 15000 round trip by boat. You can buy a ticket in Taganga beach.

What a nice place, if you want to leave your rutine behind, at least for a day, this is the best place to be, you can find, hike, sand, beach, beers, dance, nature, great people and a very beatiful place that will make you feel so relax, you wont remember home, i highly recommend this place... It is a must in Sta Marta !
