Awaji Island is a stunning destination, known for its temples and suspension bridges. It is considered the birthplace of Japanese puppet theater. The island offers breathtaking snake roads for driving enthusiasts with narrow streets and sunset views accompanied by soothing sounds of the waves. With numerous temples and beachfronts in every direction, Awaji Island has something for everyone. For those seeking privacy, Hato restaurant is a must-visit spot with incredible food.
I love this island because there is so much you can see. You can have fun by the water but also go to the mountains. Definitely would be better if you have a car

Words don’t describe this island. Japan in general is beautiful and if u r a driving enthusiast like me, then let’s take that car on the snake roads. Narrow streets and enjoy the sunset! Sounds of the waves and amazing food.
There are plenty of temples and beachfronts here on this island. There is a very private restaurant called “Hato”. Absolutely amazing food. Don’t miss the southern side of the island.
The bridge to Naruto and Shikoku island is also very beautiful when it comes to the view. Over all a very pleasant experience.

There is no train to Awaji -> less foreigners here.
You can get here by bridge (around 1000yen) on rental car or using bus from Kobe (600yen).

Kansai Cycle Sports Center is an amusement park centered around bicycles. It offers various cycling courses, a cycle coaster, and a playground for children. While it can be pricey due to limited activities, it is still a great place for families to enjoy together. Kids will surely have fun while adults can also appreciate the park's offerings. Overall, Kansai Cycle Sports Center is an excellent family-friendly destination worth checking out.
Just visit it yesterday. Not too crowded nor touristy but totally worth the visit. It’s so fun with many things to do. My family and son having such great time. All the staffs are very helpful and friendly. A must go for a family, young kids and young soul.

Very nice place for kids, but kind of expensive because there's no much thing to do

This was a really great place to come as a family my 4 year old Loved it
1 Minute With Me Shorts — Google review
Initially, I was going to give this place a 4 ⭐ review as I thought the ticket price was a little too high.
However, as a keen cyclist, I enjoyed all the activities that were on offer. Most notably the cycling course and the various bikes you could ride. My family and I especially like the four-person bicycles and other interesting styles of bicycles you wouldn't normally get the chance to ride. My daughters also enjoyed the rollercoaster and the view from the bicycle parachute.
At the start of the day, if you asked me if I would go back, I would have said 'No' due to the ticket price. That said, on the way home my wife asked me if I wanted to go back. As the family had such a good time I said 'I hope we can go back again in the future.' At this time the staff were preparing the swimming pool for the summer season, so I hope to return and try the swimming pool with my family.
As a final note, the staff were really friendly and accommodating. That also added to an enjoyable day.

Brought my kids here to enjoy cycling and to try some of the more interesting alternate cycles. Quite fun! There are those that used hand pedal, and those that involved moving your body ,press down ,to move along. The 3 km cycle path is very challenging, there are a number of sharp turns, the uphill is tough if you did not gain enough momentum.

It's a nice bicycle theme park on the outskirts of Sakai catering mostly for young families that offers outdoor lodging facilities as well.

That place that I didn't expect anything woke up my inner child, especially you can try to ride different kind of bicycles in a playground (mostly for kids but who cares?) it's a nice place to go with family or friends 👍

Harvest Hill is a picturesque farm park that offers interactive experiences, a petting zoo, and an exhilarating grass slide. It also features several cafes and shops for visitors to explore. The park provides nursing and changing facilities, ample parking space, and allows picnicking with your own food. All activities are outdoor-centered; thus, visitors should be prepared to do a considerable amount of walking. Additionally, the nearby JA Market sells fresh seasonal fruits and vegetables as well as groceries.
We went here to visit Sullivan Park and it was soooo worth it. Both my daughters and I grew up playing with calico critters which is what they are called in the US and it was so cool to go into the life size houses. To be a kid again.
There were other things for small children to enjoy as well if you have little ones.
Liz W — Google review
A must with kids to spend the day. Nursing and changing facilities are available. Large parking lot and quite a few of cafeterias/cafes to choose from. Picnicking is allowed as well for those who prefer to bring their own food. Be prepared to do a fair amount of walking! All activities are outdoors.

Great place to go with kids.
Now they are holding dinosaurs event. It is scary for kindergarten kids, but a bit boring for elementary school kids..
This is really wide place, you can find lots of animal event and attractions.
There is a bus to the nearest station, but car will be better choice to come.
Dai K — Google review
Went during mid October and weather was sunny. This place can get rather hot with the sunny weather and lots of walking. But I suspect it will also get pretty chilly if it was raining as this was what I experienced with Mother Farm in Tokyo (damn cold!). Attractions are opened but not all restaurants were opened when we were there midweek.
Note that if you use google map, it sometimes shows several train stations for the connection to the last mile bus journey and some of the recommended stations may not be the ideal one. Take the local train to Izumigaoka Station (also recommended by google). Once there, take the south exit and walk straight until you see bus stop #6 which has a sign that says Harvest Hill. 3 stops from here to reach harvest hill and less than 100m after alighting to reach harvest hill entrance. Do note the timing of the bus returning to the train station from the harvest hill bus stop - there is a signboard there.
Pee WhyPee — Google review
Family friendly park which would be great for families or couples, flowers are seasonal (I went in February) so make sure to plan ahead if you’re there for flowers. But there are also many other attractions to do and see.
I really love animals so that was the main attraction for me but there is also mini go karting, hill sliding, duck boats and several other activities.
A lot of small shops around the park for souvenirs, food & beverage. Definitely a nice place to go with family and children.
Kuan-Yu Chen — Google review
Nice park but too expensive for a day visit. The entrance price is 1,000 yen for adults and 600 yen up to JH school students but that's just to enter, you have to pay extra for everything else it can become very expensive very quickly if you are a family of 4 or 5. World Ranch is better value for money. A yearly ticket is good value for money, I know people who have 1 and go there on a regular basis. The restaurants are nice with a great variety. There is an Italian, BBQ, German and others in there food court.
Paul Carroll — Google review
Staff are friendly. Animals are kept very clean. You can see capybara in the farm! The strawberry farm all you can eat is definitely worth 2200yen per person!

The Tempozan Giant Ferris Wheel in Osaka is a must-visit attraction, standing at 112.5 meters tall and offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city and its surroundings. With a diameter of 100 meters, it's one of the world's largest Ferris wheels and can accommodate up to 480 passengers in its 60 cabins. Located just a short walk from Osakako Station and adjacent to the Kaiyukan aquarium, this iconic landmark provides an unforgettable experience for visitors.
We got there late and the service was still excellent. Japanese are amazing. My wife took all the photos and she enjoyed Japan a lot.
Osaka is the best livable city in Japan and there is a reason for it. You get to see the night view of Osaka from above. The ferries wheel is not scary and it is quite enjoyable for tourists actually. We still have to walk a short distance to the place at night, and it is not dangerous or scary at all like in the US.
Osaka is a place I will definitely go back again.
Richard Wu — Google review
Defiantly go on a sunny day! Price rose but worth going once.
Can see all of Osaka and recommend to ride before touring Osaka.
Biny — Google review
It's worth going for a ride if you have purchased the Amazing Pass as this will give you a free ride, or else your price might be a bit pricey. You will have a good view of the surrounding area and take a break from the long walk in the Kaiyukan aquarium. It is within walking distance from the aquarium.

Experiencing my first rainy day ride on a Ferris wheel, the outside scenery remained enchantingly beautiful. The raindrops added a poetic touch to the landscape, turning the city into a glistening masterpiece. Each droplet on the Ferris wheel's glass seemed to magnify the lights and colors, creating a dreamy ambiance. It's a unique perspective that transformed a rainy day into a mesmerizing and memorable journey, proving that even under the soft drizzle, beauty can be found in unexpected places. ☔🎡✨

One of the best Ferris wheel i have taken.
There are two ferries wheel in osaka.
Tempozan ferris wheel Is very well maintained.
Its clean and efficient.
Staffs are friendly there.
The view on top of the ferris wheel is great.
It was the tallest Ferris wheel in the world at 112.5m.
Next to this Ferris wheel is famous Osaka aquarium which is also one of the largest aquarium in the world.
I would recommend this pkace if you ever visit osaka.

Great experience!!
The run was quite fast just 15 min per round. There are 2 kinds of cabin: glass and normal. Most people wait for the glass which are really limited in number. Normal one is faster to get your turn. The cabins are equiped with AC so not hesitate to take a go even in hot afternoon. But I think around the sunset is the best!!

An absolutely massive ferris wheel ride. It's located right next to the Osaka aquarium which is very convenient. It is also located right next to a mall there too.
It looks very well maintained and kept clean. Holders of the amazing pass can also ride this using that ticket!

We planned ahead and rode at sunset on a clear day. The photos honestly don't do the experience or the view justice.
The wheel lights up at night with multiple light shows and sequences. There's a small footbridge next to Kaiyukan which has a perfect view.

Nice view from here.
Tempozan Ferris Wheel opened to the public on July 12, 1997, and was then the tallest Ferris wheel in the world.During the 17-minute ride it offers a view of Osaka Bay and surrounding areas, including Mount Ikoma to the east, Akashi Kaikyō Bridge to the west, Kansai International Airport to the south, and the Rokko Mountains to the north.

¥800/person ($7.84) for 1 round around 15 minutes. Went on a Tuesday morning at 11 a.m., and there was no queue. There will be 2 different lanes that you can choose from, one for general gondola and another for a see-through gondola.
The Ferris Wheel lights up at night too, which is nice!

A great place where to enjoy the possibility of watching the city from above. One round will take about 20 minutes and the view is very nice. A nearby aquarium is also an option where to go after this stop. The connection by public transportation is pretty easy and comfortable by trains. Thank you🤩

The complex offered some amusements besides the ferris wheel. There were food court, restaurants, shops, etc. Long benches were found in many places so that people could take a rest. The toilets were clean, but there was no toilet seat cover. It was a good place for families with young children. Parking was outside the complex.

It is the first time for us to ride the Giant ferrish wheel Osaka. Wow so cool.. If you want to see the beautiful view of Osaka with lots of lights, come at night. But if you want to see something brighter, come early in the morning until late in the evening. There are 2 types of capsules, regular and transparent. If you are not afraid and have no phobias, choose transparent capsules... but if you have a phobia, choose the usual one
Paramita Nanda — Google review
A good view of the Osaka bay. Can buy tickets at the counter. Takes about 15 mins to complete one round. Breath taking views
Sharath Reddy — Google review
Seeing Osaka from a high point as far as the eye can see. 15-min ride. Took the see through cabin for the experience but the clarity of the floor wasn't clear enough. If it gets windy when you're at the top, it does feel scary but it's ok. Fun for the family.
Ash Rin Nirza — Google review
Well it wasn't the largest, but I believe it's better than the HEP, just sit beside the aquarium and if you're taking it during the day time you can have a great view across the big city. The ticket is not cheap but it will be a good deal if you had purchased the Osaka amazing pass which saves you some buck. The see through glass is overrated and will take a very very long queue. Suggested not to use that if you are in a rush.
Ing Kien Wong — Google review
>15 mins waiting time for see through gondola as there is one after 6-7 general ones (covered bottoms).
Was able to enjoy this ride for free under the osaka amazing pass (physical).
Was here on 7th Jan (weekday) 1015am and enjoyed an amazing view of the Tempozan Ohashi Bridge with the city backdrop. The whole ride is very stable and not shaky.
Strollers can be brought onto the gondola without folding it. For those with a lot of luggages, can put in a gondola before you board in case if you are afraid it get stolen.

NOT the world’s biggest Ferris wheel, arguably not even in the top 10 anymore, BUT still significantly large and remarkable in its own way and an absolute must see when visiting Osaka.
900 yen per adult as of September 2023.
Be careful to go during national holidays or weekends as lines can be significantly long.
Friendly staff.
Feels safe, and structure is well kept.
R — Google review
Located nearby to the Aquarium, it has easy access from the mall. Take note that the mall closes early so better grab your dinner first before taking the Ferris wheel! Pretty good views up there but I have taken bigger and more impressive ferris wheels. Still worth a try if you’re here after the aquarium and enjoy the views. Do note there is a small queue if you’re taking the transparent bottom cabin.

Rode the ferris wheel, visited the aquarium, got cotton candy in the shape of a panda head at the mall, and even pet a capybara! I'd say this harbor is pretty incredible! I should have visited Legoland, too, but I was pressed for time. I hope the next time I'm in town I can visit again. Everything is worth the visit, even if you just sit and watch the boats go by in the harbor.

It’s a great place to shop and eat. I was surprised by the number of places to eat. You could get a good meal for less than 1000 yen if you look around. We even had fresh crepes for dessert from one of the food stands. If you are looking for American food they even have a Kentucky Fried Chicken and a Subway among other American fast food Franchises. Souvenirs were affordable in the shopping areas. I found what we consider a dollar store in the US and they had lots of household goods but also just fun little trinkets for 100 yen each! To compare, we bought a sheet of stickers at the aquarium and found a similar sheet of stickers at this store and it was less than half the cost. I bought a brush for Japanese calligraphy and the paper for only 200 yen. (At our current exchange it was only about $1.75!) When you compare the cost to a US store, the same items are about 10x that cost. They even have a store that sells the fake food you see everywhere. The Ferris wheel was great. We were one of the last people to get on and there was no line. The night time view was great. We are glad we waited till night time to go on it.

Somewhere near the Southwest of the city, lie several small islands, one of them containing the Tempozan Harbour Village, or as some call it the Tempozan Bay Area. Here you can find several attractions together, the Kaiyukan (Osaka Aquarium), the Tempozan Ferris Wheel, the Santa Maria cruise ship and the Tempozan Market Place. I lumped them all together because this should definitely be a day's itinerary and helps with easier planning (it took us quite a while to figure out these four attractions go together).
Taken individually, the attractions don't really count as much but if you visit them all together and explore the area, it's really quite enjoyable (though I won't rank them highly). Activities here are more relaxing and slow-paced, as it's mostly only sightseeing.
Like I mentioned earlier, some of the attractions, for example the Kaiyukan and the ferris wheel aren't exactly new attractions to me. I've been to the aquarium at Sentosa and Singapore Flyer before, and I personally feel that Singapore's version are comparable, if not better. Except for the central pacific tank in the Kaiyukan and the opportunity to touch a stingray, Singapore's aquarium offered a more immersive experience while the Singapore flyer had a much bigger space and room (sometimes you need to travel the world to realise that your flyer rocks, eh?).
There's also not much to do in the Tempozan Market Place, other than some touristy priced items, but we did found a rather quaint eating place. It's called Kushikatsu where you can fry your own food after dipping them into some sauce and bread crumbs. Sinful but totally delicious.
There's also a Lego place at the market, but sadly it's just limited to children so we were not able to enter it. I wanted to say I'm still a child at heart but the employees didn't really understood my English.
Personally I find the whole Tempozan Bay area to be interesting, but not really high on my priority list. It's nice to see fishes and stuff, but nothing really jumps out at me (unless the fish escaped the tanks). I like the cruise ship experience the most, mainly because it's not always I get to be on the boat but other than that I would only rate the whole experience at Tempozan Bay as average.

Great view from the highest point of the ferries wheel where the surrounding scene is just panoramic. Take a harbour cruise on board "Santa Maria" to fully appreciate what the water way offers.
Also, bring the kids to the indoor Legoland and I must say "Kids" otherwise you must be an adult with kid mind to enjoy it.
Not to forget the aquarium that will bring you to another dimension under the sea. So enjoy the visit.
😉 ENJOY

Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan is one of the largest aquariums globally, featuring diverse marine life from Arctic to tropical regions. The 16+ replicated environments include an Ecuadorian jungle, Tasmanian sea, Monterey Bay, and the Great Barrier Reef. The descending spiral layout showcases tanks representing the Pacific Ocean's ring of fire and houses whale sharks, sea otters, crustaceans, and deep-sea creatures. Visitors can admire jellyfish in tall crystalline tanks at the final exhibit.
One of the best aquarium in Japan, different kinds of marine life from all over the world.
Charming view, you can see the divers feeding sharks face to face inside the water.
The building is large, you will start the tour from up to down, loop style, cinema mood, while watching different levels of the aquarium.
I like this place, However, for kids the tour is very long 777 meters, of course there are multiple rest rooms on the way down, but if you want to get out of the dark, it is very long way given the fact that eating and drinking is not permitted inside.
Anyway I give this place 5 stars as an aquarium.

Great aquarium experience! All the animals were very lively and entertaining to look at. It was interesting to see each one in their own habitats and learning about their behaviours. We stayed a good 2h there. Me and my family went on a weekday around 12:30 and the wait was not very long, 5min at most to buy the tickets. Just to be sure, i recommend that you buy your tickets in advance.

Really love this place!!! When I first knew about Kaiyukan, I knew immediately that I needed to go here. So, I had bought ticket online in advanced after I got my visa, and then I went to visit Kaiyukan.
It's really large, like I walk and walk but still don't see the end of the hall =)))))) I like the design of the spiral here, I can see the animal from when they're above the water and then when they're deep in the water. Love the penguins so much, they're so cute!!! And the ring seal too!!! Oh, and I get to touch a kind of shark, forgot their name and some rays too, really cool.
Will come back here if I have the chance :3

I not a child, but I loved this Aquarium like a child would! My hubby was going nuts because he said “I made him spend almost three hours there. Heck time goes fast when you’re having fun.
We went pretty close to opening time, and already scores of coaches were there and school children on excursions. We had to wait 85 mins before our timed entry.
We waited around the market place. Dreading that we had eaten food prior to coming! Come on am empty stomach, as they had great offerings of food to have ! From savoury to sweet or drinks!
I loved the Pacific Ocean tank, it went on throughout the aquarium. All the fish were the stars! Everyone really impressed with the whale sharks, sharks and the like. The dolphins were cute, so we’re the Penguins! The otters were fast asleep. The Great Barrier Reef exhibition was closed and won’t open till September 2024. It’s quite a peaceful place even with the crowds. Have patience, and you’ll get close to the action.

Best aquarium we have ever been. The layout allows you to see the sea animals in close proximity all the time, it feels like you are immersed in the ocean. Quiet crowed since it is a popular spot, but it doesn't feel like you could not observe the creatures. All the contents have English translations, which is a great plus for us (we don't understand Japanese). They have so many awesome and unique sea animals with detailed info, very informative. Both my two kids and I had a lot of fun. Try their ramune soft-served ice cream too it's yummy!

My first visit to an aquarium and I was impressed immensely. They designed the place in such a way that you won’t miss a thing. If you are a fan of underwater creatures this place is definitely for you.
Don’t forget to buy something cool from their souvenir shop on your way out.

One of the best places in Osaka. Educational and fun. Facility is clean and well maintained like Japanese standard.
Japan is amazing, they can make everything so well even for animals. We don’t understand Japanese and we still can have a good experience here with different sea animals.
Love this place. For kids, for adults and for anyone who has a loving heart towards animals. This place is awesome.
Richard Wu — Google review
Excellent aquarium. My son loves sea animals so we've been to a lot of them, including the Monterey Bay aquarium in California. This aquarium showed many aquatic animals organized by the region they are found.
You follow a route once inside and it takes you past all of the animals without missing any. You don't have to worry about missing something because you didn't look for it. There are a few places off the route but they are supplementary and don't have animals in them, just additional information about special ones like the otters.
They had lively dolphins that played with a basketball in front of us, we saw them feed ducks and the central tank features at least 2 whale sharks among many other regionally appropriate aquatic life. It was amazing.
There's a small cafe about 3/4 of the way along the route that's in a perfect spot to grab a drink or snack and look out over the Osaka bay. Excellent view at or near sunset.
We loved it and would definitely recommend it to others and would return if we are ever here again.
Pro tip: if you have a child, buy the stamp book at the shop near the entrance. My son loved collecting the stamps along the way and made the experience more interactive for him. Most people grab the information booklet and stamp that but the actual stamp book is cheap and much better. It has a lanyard so your child can wear it and shows what animal they should look for next.

Fascinating experience! I was amazed to see those beautiful sea creatures, especially whale sharks, hammerhead sharks and manta rays. I would recommend coming here around afternoon (5 p.m.) to see the whole night show with relaxing music and lights creating a dreamy environment. You will definitely enjoy it!

Another must see and do attraction if you're in Osaka! It can be a little crowded trying to buy tickets so online is a better option if you're trying to save time. The aquarium is a little small but they have a lot to see. It's a great place to take the family out and to venture into Osaka.
Jesus Gutierrez Jr — Google review
Great aquarium. Not too crowded, and even with some people in, the "flow" inside the building makes the visit really smooth and you can enjoy every scenes as you wish. The tour takes some time but there is at least two rooms where you can sit and relax for a bit.
The tour is made following a logical way and that's easy to remember and well narrated.
You can see some interesting creatures!
The lights effects on the jellyfish exhibition were really cool!
Julien Bouteyre — Google review
Amazing place. I'm glad I didn't skip this because it ranked lower than Singapore's aquarium. The design is very different. Speaks volumes of the Japanese willingness to do their best at everything.
A huge 7-8 storey high aquarium that has tank enclosures at least 5-7 floors high, keep dolphins, seals, penguins happy and not bored.
The main enclosure with the whale sharks was a bit dull and a little sad but such is the problem with such nature reserve parks.
But for now, best aquarium I have visited so far. Was a delight to see the dolphins and seals swim playfully and apparently, rather freely.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
Willy Wihardja — Google review
Great aquarium. Very unexpected. A. Good selection of animals. Dolphins were very playful, the seals were funny as always. There a huge tank in the centre and it was just amazing to see the variety of fish floating around in there.
Harry Boyadjian — Google review
Strongly strongly recommend purchasing tickets online before going. In peak summer it is extremely busy and hot queuing in the sun for hours.
The aquarium itself is nicely done, the air conditioning works well and the exhibits are impressive. The crowds are pretty intense at times, with kids running around; but that’s to be expected in a busy tourist spot.
The Pacific Ocean enclosure is impressive, hosting two whale sharks which was cool to see up close- albeit a bit sad given how small their tank is compared to their natural habitat of the ocean.
The Great Barrier Reef exhibit is closed till later in 2024.
Bec S — Google review
i thought it was ok. the aquarium itself is really cool but it is way too packed so each exhibit is a battle to get a good look. the aquarium itself is honestly ready great, just the aquarium being overcrowded and the amount of foreigners makes it not the best experience. the whale shark theme soft serve was good.
Soyeb Ehsan — Google review
The environment was decent and not overly crowded. Some interesting exhibitions going on.
The highlight whale shark tank had 2 whale sharks inside.
However, felt like the variety of marine life on display was slightly lacking. Would also be nice if there were more educational information provided on the animals.

So much fun! Bought and reserved our spot a month in advance. It was busy but so much fun! The aquarium is huge and takes about 2.5 hours to walk through. The whale sharks are ginormous! It is so cool to be able to see one so close. I very much enjoyed this while my family and I were visiting Osaka. Hope to be back one day!
J F — Google review
Great aquarium definitely better to go during weekdays as it's less busy.
Better to buy tickets in advance, they allow you in based on time of ticket in 15 minute windows (although you can stay as long as you like once in it seems). We purchased our tickets in the morning for 430 pm, got there early to walk around (that was at 2pm and they were selling tickets for 415pm when we got there).
The aquarium itself is impressive with display split by regions. The dolphins were a particular highlight.
Ken Abela — Google review
It was such an experience! The place is enormous and you can basically spend the whole afternoon looking at various marine life.
If you get a chance to see the staff interact with dolphins, it’s a great watch!
There are resting benches here and there which was very handy. There’s also an area for kids so will be a great place to visit as a family.
Unfortunately, it does get crowded and it pays to get there a bit early to skip waiting in line. You can purchase the tickets online. This will save you heaps of time.
The cafe was amusing - we loved the theme and hotdog is a must-try. Ice cream was great also. There is a wall designed for photo shoots.
My wife’s favorite part was looking at small fishes - the whole area is very well designed and each dome are presented very uniquely. My favorite was the jellyfish domes. But you cannot ignore the main attraction which is the whale shark. You won’t know how much time has passed gazing into the dome.
Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and would totally recommend to anyone from family to dating couples, and even for individuals who are genuinely interested in marine life!!
Joon Lee — Google review
The queue was pretty huge, so I recommend booking tickets early.
It's a good aquarium, but it is 80% based around circling a single giant tank which includes (admittedly) whale sharks, hammerhead sharks and an assortment of rays and large fish. It's a damn good tank, but there wasn't much variety.
Charles Watson — Google review
Huge aquarium with two whale shark as its main attraction. Facility was easy to access and tickets can be brought over the counter without much queue. There are also sea lions, dolphins and penguin exhibits that you can get really close to. Also has a great cafe where you can chill out and watch the sea view. Recommended for families!
R N — Google review
The size of the aquarium is really impressive. Large tanks for sharks, dolphins, seals, etc can be seen from multiple floors, giving you multiple perspectives. However, this isn't communicated very clearly at the start, so there are some backups as everyone gathers around certain exhibits at the start.
However, as you work your way through, you start to better understand what is a one-time view and what you'll be able to see again on another floor.
The reef exhibit was closed when we went through, so we only got to see the temporary reef exhibit, which was a bit of a bummer, but I'm glad they still had something to show while it was under construction.
Haley Whisennand — Google review
Absolutely loved this aquarium. I found it incredibly well done with great exhibits and variety. The Great Barrier Reef section was closed for upgrading works when we were there but it was still an overall fantastic experience. The 2 whale sharks were definitely the highlight. Such beautiful, magnificent creatures. Pro tip: buy your entrance tickets online and get the table of feeding times on the website before you come here and plan your visit accordingly. They don’t display all the feeding times in one place anywhere; rather, the feeding time is displayed on each individual exhibit, so it makes it quite challenging to see overall feeding times in one place to plan your route. You can easily spend half a day here.
Ju Vin S — Google review
Awesome aquarium! Saw a bunch of sea animals that I’ve never seen before. I’m from California and this aquarium I think is the same tier as the Monterey bay one! Also the food at the cafe was pretty tasty! The soda float was my favorite.
Emily Dang — Google review
The ticket price was a little high which was unexpected but it's totally worth it to go atleast once. Do start early if you're going on a weekend as the place gets really crowded and people are usually stuck onto one tank for a long time. Coming from the tropical regions of the world, seeing penguins was the best part of this place. The whales and sharks were enormous. The most beautiful and calming part was the jellyfish. They knew exactly how to present the stillness of those amazing beings. The experience was exciting. Otters were cute. Seals were cute. Ducks were handsome. Big win.

Hanshin Koshien Stadium is a historic baseball field that was constructed in 1924 and modeled after iconic American stadiums like Wrigley Field and Giants stadium. It is located in Japan and serves as the home field for the underdog Hanshin Tigers, as well as a host for high school championship games. The stadium has an on-site museum and holds significant cultural importance due to its association with the revered high school baseball tournament, which has been held there for over 100 seasons.
Since baseball game is a big thing in Japan, it’s really a good experience to watch the game in their Stadiums. This was my first time to watch and the place was so big. It was a bit hot though but the games are really fun to watch. Just be sure to wear sunblock, cap and bring a towel (you can also buy the cooling towel they sell in the gift shop). It is not their practice to use an umbrella since it will obstruct the view of the other watchers.

A must go place shall you are a true baseball fan!
The stadium tour was short but sweet, though conducted in Japanese, you are able to watch the 3rd base bullpen area from above during game day. In addition, walk through the post game conference backdrop for photo. And to the 3rd base dugout and actually walk onto the field to see the magnificent and historical stadium.
On top of that, the museum is also a must-go! There are two parts, entrance is cross the street, and the other part is located within the stadium, where can be walked to via the sky bridge. The batting and pitching practice is a lot of fun, while watching the history of the team and the special moments via VR makes you feel like you are part of the special occasion.

Fun to at least walk around if you are interested in baseball or live in the area.
Home to the beloved Hanshin Tigers, the underdogs of Japanese pro baseball, and of the much-vaunted high school baseball tournament, which celebrated its 100th season in 2018 and is the dream of every high school player.
It was the first large baseball stadium of its kind in Japan. Built in 1924, taking inspiration from Wrigley Field and the Giants’ stadium in New York. Babe Ruth played here in 1934. There’s a plaque to him on the stadium grounds.

Nice fun stadium to watch the baseball. Japanese people love baseball and the crowd goes wild. Pom poms streamers and chanting everywhere and cheerleaders.
This is the Hanshin tigers home ground. Grab a beer or some sake or tea and check it out. They sell food too obviously, or bring your own.

Got to experience my first Japanese Baseball game at the oldest and tradition rich Hanshin Koshien Stadium. Loved the experience and gave me a new appreciation for baseball. I had a lot of fun and hope to go to another one some day. Built in 1924 and Babe Ruth as part of an American League contingent played here in 1934. This is the place to experience Japanese Baseball.

Even though it's a Baseball stadium I went here for the JPOP artist Aimyon's concert.
This concert was attended by 45000 people and since this stadium is well built we had no issues of large crowds.

This place gets packed. Like, no empty seats, better become friends with the people around you, because it gets tight. That said, it is the most energy I have ever seen at a baseball game, and I’ve watched the Red Sox play the Yankees. Very good vibe.

First time visiting this stadium after buying tickets the same day. The stadium is one of my favorites that I've visited and it has a great atmosphere. The ushers were really helpful in showing us to our seats and the view from Left outfield was great. It had good views of the home fan section and was close to the away fan section too so we got to hear the cheers from both fanbases. From outfield it also had good views of the mountains and the sunset.
Patrick Williams — Google review
1st Japanese baseball stadium I ever attended for a game. Awesome vibes and atmosphere. This stadium apparently is one of the few remaining stadiums Babe Ruth played in. If there for a day game have Irish Warpaint (sun block) and something to put on the seats they may get a little bit hot.
Bill Gallagher — Google review
Went on a tour of this place. You'll need some Japanese proficiency or a pocket translator to understand the tour, which is done all in Japanese. Definitely a highlight was being able to step into the Tigers dugout and onto the field to get up close pics. Was a nice day as well. Would love to come back to witness a game, Tigers or the Koshien Tournament.
Neil-Patrick Villamora — Google review
It's very easy to get to the stadium via train and very easy to find your seats once you're there. I'd arrive early if you want to go shopping, but there are team gear and goods stores right in front of the train station and inside the stadium. A wide selection of food stalls for hot dogs, tonkatsu, yakitori, and desserts.
I bought tickets for games that got cancelled for rain, but the refund procedure was simple. In one of these cases, I wasn't sure if I'd get a refund, but someone from the stadium called to talk to me. Excellent customer service, and his English was better than mine! Tigers fan for life now.
Kevin Rickman — Google review
Not as big as other more modern stadiums but Koshien has hisssstory. Great place to watch the Hanshin Tigers. Bathrooms are clean but could use more stalls for women. Food stalls are plenty and with great selections. The surrounding area is also great with a museum tour and a batting cage and several restaurants and shops to check out.
Eileen — Google review
A great experience here in during my childhood in the 1990's. Wow we are in Japan! Where my Mom is from! As an American I get to experience the happiness of the Japanese baseball and halftime show. There is very good food outside of the stadium. There is a family and friendly and fun atmosphere to support a good game here.

Kobe Sanda Premium Outlets is a modern shopping center located in Kobe, Japan, designed after the exclusive residential area of Pasadena near Los Angeles. It's the second largest outlet mall in Japan and houses around 210 high-end brand shops from both Japanese and international retailers. The outlets offer a wide range of stores including famous foreign brands like GUCCI and PRADA, as well as domestic brands such as UNITED ARROWS and BEAMS.
During the night, there is much colorful light that makes this place somewhat romantic. Buying something for our love and ourselves. The price is reasonable. Therefore, many people from overseas countries prefer to come here due to the reasonable price with the good quality compared they buy in their country.

There is a food court at the northern part of the malls. Popular dishes including ramen are available.

This outlet had a great collection of shops - ranging from clothing to daily utilities. The area was quite large though - it took quite some time from one side to another side. The parking lots were also just next to the outlet - just these were not covered, which means it could be quite inconvenient if it rains.

A great place to unwind any season. It's conveniently situated a short walk from Rinku Town station and is much more attractive than the stone beach near Rinku Outlet Mall. The esplanade leading to the park has rows of cherry trees, but the pines here are the best feature. They give good shade during the extreme heat of summer.
The lagoon is too shallow for swimming and is forbidden, but toddlers and small children can paddle.
There are ramps for easy access and toilet facilities, but the park office always seems closed as does the shop. Best to get something to eat and drink at the station first.
I'm attaching a panoramic view of the park, and one taken from the restaurant on the 54th floor of the Washington Hotel. You can see Kansai airport across the bay.

Good deals of your a tourist and can get tax exemption. Otherwise, things are cheaper but not significantly so. Still, plenty of options to check out different brands. Replaced and topped up bits of my wardrobe here.
Was very disappointed with the prices at Polo Ralph Lauren. I wrongly assumed that their tops would go for $10-$20 maximum like the ones in the factory outlets in the US, so I was taken aback when I saw the same top selling for $95.
Drop by the Information Centre to scan a QR code to get some online vouchers. We didn’t purchase from a store where those vouchers were valid, but all will be tax free for tourists.
There are some stores along the perimeter so look at the map closely in case those are stores you’d like to visit. The maps are located at the entrance of the factory outlet.
We arrived at just after 10am, and left at about 4pm.

If you have luggage from Kansai Airport T1, go to Bus Bay 12. Better take bus than train and enjoy the scenic ride. Recommended to shop at Coach, Under Armour & Tag Hauer as they offered genuine low price after discount. Remember to visit the Seaside overlooking the Bridge to Kansai. Otherwise, you will regret it. For Muslims, there is a prayer room beside Tully's coffee.

Rinku Town Outlet is a vast shopping destination, earning a solid 4/5 rating. Its expansive layout provides a diverse retail experience, catering to various preferences. One standout feature is the stunning sea view that enhances the overall ambiance, adding a touch of beauty to the shopping experience. The outlet's spacious design allows for a comfortable and enjoyable exploration of numerous stores. While the variety of shops is commendable, the outlet could further improve by diversifying its offerings to cater to an even broader audience. Overall, Rinku Town Outlet impresses with its size, assortment of stores, and picturesque coastal scenery, making it a worthwhile destination for both avid shoppers and those seeking a visually pleasing environment.

Rinku Premium Outlet store is very convenient to reach when we’re staying in the Namba area. It’s just one train ride away. The stores offer a lot of choices and discounts.
It’s also worth nothing that it has opened its new wing. The food court at the 3rd level offers a wide variety of food choices. Plus you can also enjoy sights of the bay as there’s an esplanade great for just strolling or taking pictures.

Tojo Lake Toy Kingdom is a small amusement park that offers various attractions like a merry-go-round, Ferris wheel, pool, game room and stage. There are also toy stores where children can play with cars and trains. Although the maintenance of some facilities needs improvement due to damaged walls and dirty toy statues, it is still highly recommended for kids to enjoy. The admission fee per adult is 1000 yen which is affordable considering the cleanliness of the park and availability of toys without additional charges.
admission fee is only 1000 yen per adult, park is very clean and many toys can play without additional fee.

We visited Tojoko toy kingdom yesterday. It was very sunny and we enjoyed various kinds of attractions in the park. Here is a theme park specialized to toys. Therefore, the park is very suitable for young children and family. Since restaurant is designated in the park. We don't have to warry about lunch issue. And we can access here from JR Shin Sanda by free bus transportation. Without a car, we can enjoy it. Just a recommendable park for your daughters and sons. Please enjoy.
PS
Battle event of Bayblade burst was held in the park. It may be planned regularly in the park. If your children or you have any interest to the Bayblade burst, I recommend you to go here with your favorite Bayblade. In addition, please check the rule in advance. Good luck.

It is absolutely a wonderful place to take young kids (ages 2-11 or so). They will love the rides, and if you go on an off day (we went on a Monday) you can get the place practically to yourself. The employees are all fantastic, and so hospitable there. They do need to give the place a facelift, because it is showing its age.
Jason Passchier — Google review
Huge place plenty of attractions with a 2k ticket fee per adult. It has also a few stored where children can play with trains and cars. I just missed a bit of facility maintenance (wrecked walls and some dirty toy statues) but in general it is a very recommended park for your kids

Nice staff, but a tad run-down. Kids (3 and 4) had fun, though not much they could really do, ride wise. The play rooms kept them the busiest. All and all, just Okay.
W Ford — Google review
The place is ok, you'll pay to get in then keep paying for any rides your want to get on. The water park is just big enough for the kids to have fun. Both places are not maintained and show their age.

I didn't go on any rides, mostly just let my daughter play with a bunch of toys. Its best to think of it as a way to try out today and see if you want to buy them for your little one. Wire pricey though

Fun place.
Might be too hot in summer though now has water park.
Long wait for some rides. Play rooms chaotic pandemonium. Food not great.
But my 3-year old daughter still loved it. Likely could go back again in the future.

We arrived there first thing in the morning but it got crowded so quickly. The name of the waterpark is called Acapulco. There's a circuit pool and a cliff to jump into deepwater which was a lot of fun. There is a wave pool and a giant waterslide and another round rubber boat ride which I didn't go on. There are other smaller pools for smaller kids and there are some restaurants in the water park. They also serve beer in the water park. We left in about two hours.
Outside waterpark we bought some tickets for the rides which were very old. They need to spruce up there amusement park or go bankrupt!
Nice place to take a nap and shower!
Many people take rest in the opening area around the small square with Lawson store!

Probably the only lounge with shower facilities, which is already a big advantage. Priority Pass members can have 2 choices between being able to have shower, to have food or 2 alcoholic beverages. My advice is to skip the food, which is a complete let down. Another great thing is availability of private room (for couples), really great feature.
Used this area for 9 hours, private seats.
Good place to nap and shower before early flight.

They should just put an enclosure/ door to the guests space from reception.
Please make some improvements.

I have only used their shower facility. ¥ 990 for 40 minutes as of March 2024. The cafe/lounge is in Aeroplaza that is directly connected to KIX Terminal 1 (on the same level with Kansai International Airport train station). There is a separated dry area where you can sit and groom with mirror / use hairdryer. The shower cubicle itself lacks ventilation so you probably need to lower the water temperature or reduce your shower time. Will definitely be back for the shower and to try other facilities too
Yen Zen Huang — Google review
The lounge is located in aeroplaza of kansai airport which is just next to the Hotel Nikko Kansai Airport. The lounge opens 24hr and provides an option for short stay other than booking a hotel room which is more expensive.
Free drinks are provided for everyone entering the lounge, where shower is a charged option. If you have two people or above you can book a room to stay which has more privacy.
Remember to apply for the KIX-ITM card which is free and will get a 30% off for your total cost in this lounge; just show the staff your card upon entrance.

Kimiidera Temple is a historic Buddhist temple in Japan known for its serene natural surroundings, crystal clear spring waters, and breathtaking views of Wakayama Bay. It boasts of an impressive eleven-faced Kannon Bodhisattva statue and a challenging ascent of 231 steps to the top, offering visitors ample opportunities for introspection and contemplation. The temple also features an elevator available from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm for those who prefer a less strenuous climb.

Probably the most popular and the largest of the Wakanoura region shrines. Several eclectic shrines located up a significant number of stairs. Free if you take the stairs, payment required if you take the cable car. Worth a bit of time wandering around. Skip the spring, which seems to just be a covered well that attracts a lot of hungry mosquitoes.

Jo aisen — Google review
It’s a nice temple with a lot of stairs or a very steep hill to drive up. It’s also not worth taking the cable car as it’s only a few metres long so better to walk, better for those who struggle with the heat or have a disability. Great view of Wakayama from the top of the temple, historic but not the best I’ve been to.

Kimiidera is a lovely, striking red temple in Wakayama. Founded in 770, it sits upon a hillside with great views of the city. It is supposedly quite gorgeous in the spring, as it is voted one of the "top 100" best sakura blossom viewing spots in Japan. Though, even in the fall it does have quite a bit of charm.

Pretty quiet place, mostly locals and not much tourist.
The hilltop fortress in Wakayama has been restored and converted into a park. The area provides a stunning panoramic view of the surroundings, showcases cherry blossoms, and exhibits samurai weaponry. Despite visiting on a weekend in October, only two other groups were present at the castle grounds. After climbing up the stairs from the parking lot, there are two ideal locations to capture photos of the castle - one just before its entrance and another within an enclosed stone structure across from it.
There was only two other groups when we visited the castle grounds. Seems very empty during a weekend in October.
After ascending the stairs to the castle grounds from the parking lot, you can get nice shots of the castle in two locations in my opinion. The first, just prior to the entrance into the castle, and the other is located on the other side of the ark, within a stone enclosure.
The old lady manning the ice cream and souvenir shop was very sweet to us. She offered to take pictures of our group and also handed out sweets to the little ones.

Very nice castle in Wakayama city. The gardens are very nice during cherry blossom season. It is a nice place to go and have a picnic with your family and friends. There are many events held in the castle grounds throughout the year. There is a small school in the grounds which is good for small children. The inside of the castle is small and there is not so much to see. The summer festivals are usually very good.

Any bus from stop one at Wakayama station will bring you to the Castle. The Castle itself is very scenic with many areas to take beautiful pictures. The brochure actually points out several places to get the best shots. The inside of the castle keep is underwhelming but the 360 degree view you get at the top is great.

Frankly huge castle area, including nice outside park and even zoo area. The stone rampart stairs now have wheelchair access, nicely kept 3-story White Castle, not like the 5-story with secret floor Matsuyama black castle for example. Inside various samurai gear, weapons, flags, the long spears, the fish dragon shakuhachi roof ornaments, screens and much more. Could easily spend more time reading, studying it all, and they have QR code recordings. Go Wakayama, nice!

Absolutely gorgeous in spring! Lovely atmosphere. I just enjoyed the castle gardens, but next time I hope to enter. The matsuri decorations were so cute. I love that the castle map has photo spots marked. You can get a great shot no matter what, but the points on the map were particularly beautiful. The Sakura are starting to visibly shed, but that means the ground was pink! I really enjoyed and recommend you visit in spring or autumn.

Japanese seem to like copies of foreign sightseeing spots like this copy of the old city of Porto in Portugal. It looks and feels real and at the same time out of place. It is though a nice place to stroll around, u have a coffee, ice cream or a meal in one of the cafés or restaurants or take a ride on a carousel. When we visited (October 11), the Christmas decoration was in preparation. Not a bad place for families with smaller children, or couples on a romantic date. A big ferris wheel which used to be here has been removed a year or so ago. Close to Kuroshio maguro market. Paid parking is not cheap but entry to Porto is free. All you can ride tickets are available for the rides/carousel at the main entrance near Kuroshio market.

My husband took me here for my birthday and we loved it. It's very picturesque and made us feel that we really were in Europe. Bring your camera because there will be lots of beautiful photo spots. Parking is about 1000 yen but entrance to the park is free.

Be warned, the parking lot nearby is NOT worth it. We were only gone for about a couple hours, but parking racked up around 2300 yen.
They seem to be preparing for Christmas festivities at the moment, so there’s some construction going on. They appeased to park visitors by waiving the entrance fee. I feel like it’s still awfully expensive just to go through the petting zoo experience though.

We came right at opening and around 1100 in the hopes to see one of their famous tuna cutting times. There was quite a small crowd gathering at the entrance before opening. The main shows man seemed to be teaching a pupil cutting techniques and which cuts to make (which he proudly displayed to my lens, thanks 👍)
An hour later around noon, I returned after a visit to the amusement park across from the tuna marketplace and they started the show. Quite a larger crowd had congregated around the stand now (but probably not as bad as prior to COVID).
He spoke about the different types of knives he uses (all in Japanese) and about the tuna acquired I think, then proceeds to swiftly remove parts of the tuna and hold them up for the crowd to see. A much more enjoyable experience in person in my opinion!

As with most of the other posts here, yes it is a touristy place.
Parking 🅿️ is expensive 🫰, and it's not as if there are loads of spots to choose from. Food options in the hall look fanciful, but also come with a steep price tag. But I guess this also depends on your budget and comfort level.
Tuna cutting starts at noon, which means that bus 🚌 loads of tourists start streaming in around 11. it was a cool place to walk around and see. def catered towards tourists but that is what i am so it works out. they had lots of fresh seafood options. i opted for the tuna bowl with 3 cuts of tuna (fatty, medium fatty, and lean) it was 3,500¥ a bit pricey but it was pretty yummy. the tuna tasted really fresh and the fatty tuna literally melts in ur mouth. they have a tuna cutting show at 12:30pm. i would recommend waiting at the stage a bit early (like 12pm or earlier) if you really want to see it because it gets PACKED. i got to the stage around 12:15 and i couldnt really see :/ its a cool experience though. theres porto europe next to the the fish market but ngl it was underwhelming. maybe its more exciting in the summer but in march it was pretty dead.

Ichijoji is a revered Buddhist temple situated in Kasai City, 15km east of Himeji City. It is the 26th religious hall belonging to the Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage Site, attracting numerous visitors each year. The temple boasts an array of cultural riches including a magnificent three-storied pagoda designated as a national treasure, and important cultural properties such as the main hall, Dharmapala, Benten-do and Myoken-do.
(Translated by Google) Built in 650. About 15 minutes from Himeji. Located in the forest of Kasai City. Because of the 26th temple in Saigoku, there are many people who visit the 33rd Kannon pilgrimage. In the Kannon pilgrimage, Engyoji and Ichijoji are located at the western end and are located in the forest area, so it is difficult to reach them except for nearby people.
The principal image is the orthodox Holy Kannon Bodhisattva. Kaisan's Hodo Sennin is a legendary person who is said to have flown from Tenjiku on a purple cloud.
The three-storied pagoda is a national treasure. Built in the first year of Jōan (1171) during the Heian period. A tower with a clear age in the Heian period is rare in Japan.
Hyogo Prefecture has only 6 national treasure buildings. Himeji Castle, Ichijoji Temple, Chokoji Temple, Kakurinji Temple, Jodoji Temple, Taisanji Temple.
It is a waste to visit Himeji Castle from afar and pass through two nearby national treasures. Ichijoji, Kakurinji, and Himeji Castle can be visited three times in a day, so it can be an interesting itinerary as a tour of Hyogo's national treasures.

The stairs to the main hall were quite steep and I was out of breath, but there weren't many people so I was able to go at my own pace 😄
When I told them that I would be starting a goshuincho at the main hall, the staff at the counter explained the process carefully and approved the calligraphy. The way the brush moves smoothly is amazing. By the way, the goshuin book was 1500 yen.
After that, I went to Okunoin Temple and Sai-no-Kawahara, but I thought it would be difficult for a 60th birthday because of the steep stone steps here, but I managed to make it all the way up.
⭐Mini information⭐
I was also told that out of the 33 temples in the Saigoku region, the name ``Daibikaku'' is written on the stamp book at three temples: Ichijo-ji here, Kiyomizu-dera in Kyoto, and Hasedera in Nara. The reason for this is apparently that there is a stage in front of the main hall, but he says, ``This place is so small that it can't even be called a stage.'' It certainly didn't feel like a special "stage"😅

The partially restored remnants of a stone fortress complex, thought to have originated in the 16th century, sits atop a rocky crag. Although relatively small in size now, the ruins suggest that it was once an expansive castle that overlooked the surrounding area. The sturdy old stone foundations and lovely trees add to the charm of this historical site. Climbing up may prove challenging but is worth it for breathtaking views and sunsets against the castle backdrop which make for picture-perfect memories.

The stone wall of the open field remains. It seems that there was a connected castle tower. The East Musha Dam is also worth seeing.

A good place for sunset with the castle as background. We fortunate went there before sunset and accidentally discovered the beautiful sunset moment by the castle. Albeit the castle was rather small yet the ruins would tell it was used to be a large castle oversee the area. The old stone foundations around did tell. Trees were lovely and the entire area were worth visit and, with the lovely sunset, become a perfect moment for memory.

The ruins of a castle on the summit of Mt. Mikuma in Sumoto City. The stone wall is a designated historic site, but the castle tower is a mock tower made of concrete. It is the oldest of the mock castle towers, and was built in 1925 as an observation deck to commemorate the enthronement of Emperor Showa. (Refers to something that was built in a place) There were several places within the castle where the stone walls had collapsed and were covered with blue tarpaulins.
From here, you can see a panoramic view of Sumoto City, and the view is spectacular. There are a lot of cherry blossoms planted, so I think it's really beautiful during the cherry blossom viewing season. You can drive to the parking lot of the stable ruins (Tsukimidai). Approximately 10 cars can be parked.

A memorable place to visit. Little bit of walking to get to the highest point but you can see a beautiful view of the island. The castle itself is not big and you are not allowed to get in. You can observe from the outside and under the castle. It is well maintained. Good place to go if you want some quiet time and just enjoy the fresh air. A very peaceful place.

The Izanagi Shrine, a renowned place of worship in Japan, pays homage to the Shinto spirits of Izanagi and Izanami. It is believed to be one of the oldest shrines in Japan and has been around for almost 1500 years. The shrine boasts an ancient Japanese cedar tree that is over 900 years old, but unfortunately only two trees remain from what used to be a forest.
A must see! Large, beautiful temple grounds.

For those seeking a stunning view of the Onaruto Bridge, the うずしおレストラン is a great place to visit. This restaurant offers their famous Fugu meal course, made from farm-grown Fugu matured for three years in Naruto. With three different set courses available, visitors can choose their preferred option. The friendly staff provide guidance on how to eat and pair the dish with provided sauces.
Another beautiful spot on Awaji Island. People tend to stay on the tollway to get on the bridge, but why not take a break here, enjoy the views and the good dishes?

Has a nice walk down to the sea under the Naruto bridge. Also is home to the famous Awaji burger shop which has won several, national awards. Was incredibly busy when we visited during Golden Week so the line for the burgers was long which kind of soured me against them. They were good but not great. The shop offers a lot of souvenir choice for local produce but is all quite expensive (as all michinoeki are). Nice place to stop off for a quick look around if you're in the area and a good place to leave your car and go for a bike ride.
The Naruto Strait is a popular tourist destination known for its fast current channel located between Naruto and Awaji Island. The strait is renowned for its tidal whirlpools that attract visitors from around the world, especially during spring break. Additionally, the Great Naruto Bridge is a notable landmark in the area and offers stunning views of the strait. While some may visit for recreational purposes, others have chosen to make their home in the region due to its natural beauty and attractions.

The Naruto Whirlpools are a fascinating natural wonder that can be observed from nearby viewpoints or by boat during the tidal changes. The staff at the attraction are helpful, providing advice on the best time to see the whirlpools, ensuring customer satisfaction. It is highly recommended to visit this place at least once and witness the amazing view of these large tidal whirlpools between high and low tide. When seen from the bridge, it is truly breathtaking and worth experiencing firsthand.

A fantastic view of the Naruto Whirlpools from both the speedboat and from the bridge. A natural phenomenon that I was excited to see.

One of the amazing experiences I’ve ever had.
They offer like a Uzushio forecast that expects how possible it is to see whirlpool each hour.
When I visited it showed the level would be not so high, but it was pretty sunny so I took the next boat.
There are 2 types of boats you could take, one with an underwater view and the other that is bigger and not necessary to book in advance.
I took the one with an underwater view and was amazing!!
The whirlpool was not big just as the forecast said but I was so excited to see small whirlpools.
The staff told me that the diameter of it would be about 20 meters if it’s the perfect time.
Just seeing a big bridge was nice.
I highly recommend this activity.

The natural phenomenon was truly mesmerizing and left me in awe of nature's wonders. The staff at the observation deck were friendly and informative, providing insights into the whirlpool formation. I highly recommend a visit to Naruto Whirlpool for anyone seeking a memorable and awe-inspiring experience in Tokushima.
However, there’s only some time to visit for a big whirlpools

The staff kindly suggested the right time to see the whirlpools. They not only want money but also care about customer satisfaction. Recommend.

Need to check for the tide timings for the best time to view the whirlpools. The peak timings will also get crowded, and the boat may fill up. Also, the small boat is the best for experiencing the force of the whirlpools, and the spray from the sea. You are right in the middle of it. However, I think from the bridge, it’s a better view because you can admire the scale of it. It’s a good experience.

4 star rating cos of the weather.
Would have been more magnificent on a brihht sunny day.
Interesting and helpful writeups along the bridge walkway explaining what an eddy is and how whirlpools are formed.
Various glass panels built into the walkway. The long drop down allows you to observe whirlpools at strategic spots.
Traffic 🚦 rumbling above the walkway bridge 🌉 rattling the structure adds to the experience of the whole visit.

Apparently, seasons and tides have a big effect on the whirlpool. So if you want to see a big one you should do some research before you go. We saw a smaller one but still had fun walking under the bridge. Recommend!

Highly recommended as you will get superb view, cool wind, great scenery and lots of eagles and birds to see!
However, do arrive early to see the whirlpools as they can be pretty weak during the evenings.

The Otsuka Museum of Art is a vast gallery featuring more than 1,000 reproductions of renowned works such as the "Mona Lisa" and "The Last Supper." It's an enjoyable museum with replicas of famous artworks, including several cafes where one can have refreshments. Although it took longer than anticipated to explore the entire museum, we didn't have time to fully appreciate each piece and rushed through some areas to see others that piqued our interest.
it was a great place to visit. Although the paintings and other stuff are fake you can really dive into a beautiful exhibition showing much of the history and religion in Europe mainly. it took three hours almost to visit all the floors but was worth it
Kevso Fall — Google review
It is a MASSIVE museum with thousands of famous paintings in the world. It would take half a day to explore the entire area.
These paintings are not the original ones but very close replicas.
They offer some museum tours and it is very helpful for understanding the background of the works.
I am not sure if they offer tours in English or other languages, but I think at least they provide an audio tool that explains them.
The museum doesn’t just have a great replicas that made from pottery. It also replicates surrounding areas like caves and architecture transporting visitors to different places.
Additionally, there is a lovely cafe where you can enjoy some food and drinks related to the arts and the area.
Toraneko — Google review
Incredible museum of replicas. The museum itself is spacious and airy; there’s two or three cafes to enjoy lunch or coffee. Most of the large works have been made on tile, so it’s okay to get up close to some of the murals. The gallery includes pieces from several different eras, all of which are Western art.

A fun museum full of replicas of famous works of art. There are also some cafes inside where you can rest and get something to eat and drink. It took longer to get through than expected! We didn’t spend a lot of time looking in depth at all the pictures, and ended up walking quickly through some of the wings to get to others that interested us more, but still ended up rushing to see the top floor before closing. We were there about 3.5-4 hours, including a short stop to a cafe, and we easily could have spent another hour.

If you visit this place make sure to have one whole day. There are 5floors,the place is huge. The replica was almost closes to the real thing plus you can touch the painting too.It is made of ceramic reproduction by otsuka group.Over 1000 western artwork in actual size from 26 different countries.
Ish J — Google review
A replica museum featuring famous art from all across history and the world, like Da Vinci, El Greco, Picasso, Van Gogh, etc. While all very clearly designed to look fake, they make for great social media snapshots, and some of the larger scale works like the sistine chapel recreation are genuinely impressive.
Main complaint is that it is far too large, there are easily over a thousand individual artworks spread across 100 mini-galleries in there. While the gimmick is fun at first, it gradually becomes exhausting after the first 30 minutes that you're in there. Admission price is also quite high, probably as a result of the sheer quantity in there.
Good to visit of you're an art fan, but not an art critic.
Afiq Danial Sham — Google review
I didn't plan to stop off here but my wife insisted I check it out while in Naruto. I'm not a big art fan but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed the museum! Over a thousand pieces of art from a variety of periods, including a lot of famous pieces you may know. Expect to spend several hours here if you want to see most of it! Everything is a ceramic life-size reproduction so you can take photos and even touch the art if you want. If you're okay with just seeing copies of famous works you'll definitely enjoy the museum.
Plenty of parking is available in nearby lots. The closest is a five minute walk, the rest require a short and free shuttle bus ride. There are also a few restaurants on-site.
Roland Carlos — Google review
There are 3 free carparks with an easy to use and quick free shuttle bus system. There are 3 or 4 restaurants in the building but they have very limited menus and are expensive and busy, I would eat elsewhere instead next time. The audio guide was 500 yen. The English audio guide voice was robotic and not great or very interesting. It was a big enough gallery to get lost in but after a while felt repetitive. It's best to just go see the art you want to see rather than try to see it all!
Natasha Key — Google review
A fantastic experience. We were expecting to stay there for a couple of hours, we ended staying for 5 hours. There is so much to see, the pictures are replicas, but it was great that we could take photos next to them. I would highly recommend visiting this museum.

Awa Odori festival is a very important event in Tokushima Prefecture. This traditional dance is performed at night and it is a must-see when visiting the prefecture. The museum has exhibitions about the history of Awa Odori and information about the different styles of dancing. The museum also has a performance hall where you can watch the performance live.
Great atmosphere and experience for all age groups. The show has Chinese, English and Japanese explanation which is useful to understand the history and the background stories. The group dancing was very fun.

Do make time to come here if you come to Tokushima.
•PERFORMANCE- 40-ish minutes. Definitely worth going for one of the 4 daily performances! It's a taste of the famous Japanese summer odori-dance festivals. They display captions on the screen behind the narrator in 2 languages. They give a rundown on the evolution of the dance, from old times, to post-war, to now. They then show you each instrument's role alone, and then each dancer's moves. The crowd is also directed to do the basic move in the stands (if you're able to stand; you can do it seated if you can't).
•MUSEUM- Models and pictures abound, with QR codes at numerous stations to see explanation translations.
•Tickets- you can buy a ticket to only the performance, the museum, or the doorway, or in various combinations. The ticket machines have various languages, and a staff member helps you select.

Located in Tokushima City, Japan, Mt. Bizan offers visitors a stunning panoramic view of the city as well as the Sanuki Mountains, Seto Inland Sea and Kishu Mountains from its summit. The mountain boasts a gently curved shape and stands at an altitude of 290m. The park atop the mountain features a memorial pagoda, cherry blossom trees which line the road down to the city, and can be accessed via ropeway. Mt.
I took the ropeway up which was a bit expensive for such a short ride. The roundtrip ticket cost 1030 yen but beats walking.
When you get to the top, the view of the city was amazing and I would highly recommend coming here in the late afternoon before the sun sets so you can see the city in daylight as well as after dark for the night views.
Otherwise, it is very peaceful up here. If you want to clear your mind and have some snacks and drinks, bring some with you!

The peak could be reached by cable car or by private car. I chose to drive because the hill was not high. There were quite a number of parking lots here. Sakura at Bizan Park in Tokushima City, Japan.
Driving down from Mt. Bizan, many cherry trees lined the road. We had just visited Bizan park and enjoyed the cherry blossoms and the splendid view. Courtesy Wikipedia: Mt. Bizan borders the central Tokushima City area with its gently curved shape and altitude of 290m. In addition to a panoramic view of the city, you can see the Sanuki Mountains, Seto Inland Sea, and the Kishu Mountains from the mountain’s summit. Mt. Bizan is considered a usual tourist spot of Tokushima City and was written about in the ancient Manyoshu (an 8th-century anthology of Japanese poetry).

I enjoyed the drive up to the park with its winding road but when I got to the top I was blown away with the spectacular views of Tokushima and its surrounding area, breath taking. I could see why this area was settled as it is so flat and what seems like a perfect place for a harbour. I wished that I had gone up to the park at night time as I believe that the views would have looked even better with the lights of the city. Fantastic place to visit, I'm glad I went there.
Mount Bizan is a picturesque mountain located in Tokushima City that offers stunning panoramic views from its summit, which sits at an elevation of 290 meters. Visitors can reach the peak via the Bizan Ropeway, a cable car that also provides access to a museum and dance show at the Awa Odori Kaikan with the purchase of a combined ticket priced at 1620. The views from Mount Bizan are truly priceless and well worth it for those visiting Tokushima City.

Speaking of Awa Odori Kaikan, Mt. Bizan.
It feels like
I always come here not for sightseeing,
I'm on a business trip,
After all, it is a mountain that is very close to the city, so if you have some time, you can go in a short time.
You can go up and down from the observation deck, so even those who don't have much time can fully enjoy it. The ropeway is cheap at 1030 yen for a round trip ticket.
Also, after all, because the getting on and off is on the 5th floor of the Awa Odori Kaikan,
You can also see the Awa Odori Museum for only 300 yen, and if the timing is right, you can see the actual Awa Odori in the hall.
I usually visit during the daytime because I am always on the way to work, but I would like to visit at least once during the night.
The two ropeways are connected, so you can see the scenery better if you get on the front and back to see the scenery.
If you ride in the front, the gondola behind you will get in the way and you won't be able to see the scenery well. smile

A nice spot to get a good view of Tokushima city. I recommend driving up, if you have a car, but the lift is fun and worth trying at least once. Also good for an easy hike!

This is my second visit. Perhaps because it was early spring this time, bumblebees were swarming, and although they rarely sting, I was a little scared. When I hurriedly evacuated to the building, I was told by a young salesclerk that it was a collaboration event for otaku, "It's an advance payment...".
It's good to shift to otaku, but it's not during the Machiasobi period, and most of the tourists are ordinary tourists. In such a situation, ordinary tourists may disappear.

I was a little frustrated with myself only staying one day in Tokushima as I didn't think a day would be enough. I can safely say that my Bizan's views are priceless and are worth it's weight in gold.
Absolutely breathtaking.

Local beloved mountain, great view from the top also has a small cafe on the top. Lots of nature on the top to walk around.
Accessible by ropeway and also by car

It is a good view on a fine day and despite the modest height offers a large field of view.
