It's a good viewpoint, A one-time visit. Great place to chill in Coonoor, you need to walk around 500 meters from the gate for an awesome valley view. Moving clouds make the place even more beautiful. There are multiple viewing points and they make for amazing photos. There is a short nature trail too. The main point has a proper viewing area. There are shops at the entrance to buy essentials.
Swostik Kumar Mund — Google review
View is great. But since we visited during off season it was covered with fog. Entrance ticket is 15 rs per person . There is a small trekking path from entrance to the view point which is slightly steep but since it is well maintained we can go. Path itself is beautiful
gowthatsme — Google review
Beautiful views. Would suggest taking the left most pathway and that way you'll come back via the right path so you cover all the views. If you want to see the location fast then go via the right path.

A small trek ( 15 - 20 mins )through the steps will take you to the wonderful view point. Great scenery during monsoon.
On the way you can visit tea estates and have a photo shoot too. Here some shops sell local spices.
No parking charges. From here you can watch Dolphin's Nose and the Sleeping Lady hills. Binoculars are available on rent.
Satheesh Prithviraj — Google review
Lamb Rock is on the way to Dolphin nose. The Serenity, tranquility and scenery are a pleasant surprise. Since I visited during the monsoon season, I couldn't enjoy the sunrise or the sunset. But I was on cloud 9. The monkeys around are a treat to watch. I would appreciate it if the municipality maintains the roads and the park that would contribute to everlasting memories of the visitors.

Great view point in Connor. You have to walk for 20 min to reach the top view point.
Just to go to this place you have to pay 20 rs for the vehicle and then 30 rs per person to get to the view point.
Similar to other visiting places here also you have to pay all the things in cash.
There is no need for a guide for this place.

Beautiful place with a short trek to the Lamb's Rock point. Remember to take a guide along to appreciate the Sleeping Lady, Elephant's Nose & Lamb 's Rock views. Very enjoyable place for about an hour's trip in COONOOR.
DOC DOSHI — Google review
Lamb's rock is around 10 km from Conoor.
We have to trek around 500m to reach to the top where we can view the Sleeping Lady mountain and the Catherine water falls.
Guides are available but it is not a must. Need to be careful with the monkeys.
Parking will be an issue and the entry ticket is 30₹ for adults and 10₹ for kids till 10 years.
Jagadeish R — Google review
This place is beautiful😍
We hired a guide for 200₹ for the group who told us about the place and the points.
I do not recommend you to spend on the guide if you are on a budget.
PS: The guide was really good in taking pictures 😛 just in case you need a highly paid photographer, I can then recommend 😁
Its just a walking trail and to reach the tower you will need to climb steps.
Overall time would be around 1-1.5 hours depending on your speed and wait time.
The entry 30₹ per person and parking fees is 20₹
This place is must visit , its really peaceful and serene.

Good place to visit after noon because morning will be full of mist so we can’t see the sleeping lady’s view. Take some guide from this place, he will explain lots of things about this place. Shooting spot is there. Lot of monkeys are there.

A very beautiful viewpoint in Coonoor, a must visit place. You'll feel like driving into the clouds on the way to this place. The views are great, but only when there is no fog. Nonetheless a very nice and relaxing place, you can sit for hours and enjoy the cool breeze.

Good place to see nature, forestry location. Go on Sunny day and avoid to visit on foggy or cloudy days... Check climate 1 hr before visit. Cloud formation on lamb's peak is frequent
Fateh Singh Sachdeva — Google review
We went here first on a foggy day and came back empty handed, later visited on a sunny day and got spectacular views of the valley, surrounding hills and Mettupalayam at a distance. You have to walk a little from the ticket counter, there are two ways, both lead to the same viewpoint.
Kuheli Ghosh — Google review
The entry fee is 30/- and there is a parking charge of 10 rs for the bike. There is a little to walk with well made way. The place is well maintained by the government. No drones are allowed. The view is mesmerizing if there are fogs and cloud beds, we were lucky to see the fog.

Place is surrounded by good scenic beauty.. the drive to this place is full of tea gardens and lush green trees and plants. The road is narrow and parking space is very less, so may take lot of time during peak season to reach this destination.
Renu Garg — Google review
It is located at about 12 kms. from Coonoor bus stand. It is a unique rock of tremendous proportions, jutting out of the face of hill side in the formation of Dolphin's Nose. The view here is extremely grand. Left and right are great ravines, on one side is seen an excellent view of the magnificent St. Catherine’s Falls with their stream continuing several thousand metres below, while on the other, the familiar Coonoor stream meets the stream from Kotagiri. They together contribute to the great Bhavani river. A must visit place.
Narayan Vedpathak — Google review
The place is very good and it is worth a visit the area is very slippery and I would suggest you to gear up before you come to this place. The place is covered with fog almost the entire day and the air is very fresh. We need to climb the hill amidst the tea estates which is a very delightful experience in life.

Highly recommend this one, also popularly known as Dolphins Nose point. A beautiful place, surrounded all around by the majestic nilgiris, a true natural beauty. The route to this is full of picturesque views, it is located in coonoor. You can go there either by car or you could take the toy train, trust me the experience will be one that you will never forget. The whistling train passing through dark tunnels with tea plantations on the side. Unforgettable experience. Entry ticket here is very cheap, there are many shops where you could have a nice breakfast too while enjoying the views.
A must visit place

Awesome view, but super crowded on weekends. The weather here is always excellent.
In the monsoons, you'll be able to see a decent number of waterfalls, unfortunately we visited in summer.
Watch out for touts trying to sell you "parking tickets" as parking here is free. The entry charge is also minimal, buy tickets at the counter only.

This park is just amazing! Many beautiful 100 years+ old trees will surprise you. There’s a small Lake which is also beautiful, have some children play area and has boating facility. The park has many many levels of steps to go down and cherish the beauty throughout the garden. Must Appreciate the horticulture team who is best in maintaining it. Best place for nature lovers who would like to see different types of trees which can be rarely seen only in botanical gardens. Also they have installed water vending machine & it feels satisfying to drink the water after the good long walk in the park.

Sims Garden, the trees were lovely and few flowering plants. If you like huge trees this is the place for you. Magnificent extremely beautiful and big trees well maintained, plenty of toilets. There is sandwich and food place just outside the garden for a quick bite. Pay Parking available outside the garden. Entry fee ticket counter is at the entrance. They asked us for covid certificate details, don't know why, but allowed rest of us to go without certificate also. Not recommended for senior citizens as you have to climb a lot of stairs. Takes about 1.5 hours to finish. Slides and play area available for kids. But was a bit crowded.

The food court was good with wide variety of food to try.
The only con is there were very small theatres for telugu movies to watch it. But it kinds felt like a private home theatre.
And there are book stalls where prices are too much.
Overall good.

Some shops might require the Brooks card..then reputed shops like kfc ,mcds and such don't need the brooks card .
.
Toilets and wash areas are well maintained too.
.
Overall Excellent place would recommend Brookfield always
It’s in the heart of the city anna easily accessible
Clean and nicely maintained
Caring staffs. Even says not to send kids alone in escalators and stop if any kids tries to enter.
Fun city in mall has play area good enough for 5 year kids
Has good food options especially non veg
Has good coverage of electronics and window shopping options
There’s something for every clause and no one will come out dissatisfied

Nice and quiet big mall. One will find shops of all reputed brands. Good and spacious food court, with variety of options. Washrooms are clean. Good parking space. Only flip side is - the exit becomes crowded in the evening and it is difficult to catch uber, ola, redtaxi from the exit that time (evening). Enjoy 👍

We had a pretty good experience visiting this mall today. Everything inside the mall was quite good and well managed / maintained. The parking experience wasn’t great and there were broken / leaking sewage pipes at the entrance.

The Maruthamalai Arulmigu Subramanya Swami Temple is a Hindu temple located in the town of Marudhamalai, about 14 kilometres south of Coimbatore. The temple is dedicated to Lord Murugan, also known as Subramanya and is one of the most popular religious destinations in Coimbatore. The temple features elaborate carvings and gilded shrines, as well as dramatic valley views.
This temple has got a very good vibe. It can be climbed through stairs (which r not very hard) and also can be reached to by vehicle. Will hardly take 40 min to reach the top by climbing. But once you reach there you absolutely feel great. There are multiple Gods in the temple. The whole effort of climbing is worth it.

Hindu Religious place, can drive very close to temple. Option to walk also. It's not on top of mountain. Really surrounded by green mountain, get a good view of coimbatore city from top. Very pleasant place. Heaven on earth. Worth a visit all the time.

I recently had the privilege of visiting Marudhamalai Arulmigu Subramanya Swami Temple in Coimbatore with my family, and I must say it was an experience of a lifetime. From the moment we arrived on a sunny morning, the temple greeted us with its serene ambiance and breathtaking beauty.
To begin with, reaching the temple was a breeze as there was a convenient bus service available that took us all the way to the top. This thoughtful provision made the journey hassle-free for our group of 12 family members, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the spiritual adventure that awaited us.
Upon reaching the top, we were captivated by the awe-inspiring panoramic view that unfolded before our eyes. The picturesque scenery surrounding the temple, with lush greenery and majestic hills, created a sense of tranquility that instantly put us at ease.
The priests at the temple deserve special mention for their warm and welcoming nature. They guided us through the rituals and provided insightful information about the temple's history and significance. Their genuine devotion and dedication added to the sacred atmosphere of the place, making our visit even more meaningful.
One aspect that stood out during our visit was the temple's impeccable cleanliness. The entire premises were well-maintained, reflecting the devotion and respect for the divine space. It was truly a pleasure to explore the temple's various sections, all of which exuded a sense of serenity and purity.
As we embarked on this spiritual journey, we were filled with a profound sense of peace and positivity. The Temple provided us with an opportunity to connect with the divine in a meaningful way, leaving a lasting impression on our hearts and minds.
In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend visiting the Marudhamalai Arulmigu Subramanya Swami Temple to anyone seeking a spiritual retreat in Coimbatore. Its scenic beauty, welcoming priests, and pristine environment make it a truly transformative experience. Whether you are a devotee or simply looking for a place to find solace, this temple offers a sacred haven that will leave you feeling refreshed and inspired.

Wonderful temple of Lord Subramaniya located on top of a Hilltop. The temple vibes are amazingly positive and relaxing…
It was a one of a kind experience, definitely would suggest to everyone whether you are devotional or not...
The only drawback in visiting the temple is the amount of time it took for us to climb the hill due to lack of proper facility at the top. We were in a traffic que / line for almost an hour or so…

Calm. Serene. Beautiful. Less crowded in the morning. Good view from top. Won't take much time if plan a visit to the hilltop temple. Ample parking space when I visited.

Architecture of the Temple is phenomenal. To reach there you can go by stairs (700+) or by transport available outside at bottom of hill. You can go there before 7:00 pm as when it gets dark wild animals might find you. View from the temple is breathtaking. If it rains/there are clouds, you're lucky to see those scenes on hill. Clouds might come through the temple (happened with me). City looks great from the top. I Highly recommend to visit.

1. You can reach the temple by govt bus or red taxi cab. Ola/Uber won't come to this place mostly.
2. If you book red taxi, take hourly package 3 to 4 hrs) because if you take one way trip, you can't book it again from temple top. The mobile tower is not available at the top. (red taxi cab be booked only through phone call)
3. If you take govt bus, you need to take another mini bus to reach top. (ticket price 10rs).
4. Once you reach the top, you need to take another 75 steps to reach the temple. It may be slightly difficult for some elderly people as the steps are steep in some places.
5. There are also steps to reach the temple. Around 1000 steps which will take 45 mins to 1 hour.
6. Best time to reach the temple is 4pm to 5 pm in the evening. There won't be much crowd and you can finish all dharshan in 45 mins to 1 hour.
7.Once you reach the temple, take special ticket which is 20rs. You can have a closer look of lord Murugan and also it's quicker

Good temple with ancient history. Had to wait almost for 2 hours to get to mountain top car parking area since they allow only about 10 vehicles at a time to top of the hill due to parking space issue. Need to climb some steps even after reaching parking point. Temple has a huge queue over weekend. 50rs spl darshan will offer the flexibility to finish darshan quickly.

Among the most amazing temples I've ever been to. The location is incredibly beautiful and calming. The presence of nature is felt. The top hill's view looks to be really amazing. The location is bounded on three sides by hills. If you are visiting the location, make sure that you walk past the stairs and stop at the temples along the way. The Siddhar Cave, which is located slightly to the left of the temple, is well worth a visit. It is highly recommended that you visit the temple if you are visiting Coimbatore.

A must visit place. Apart from religious angle, one can bathe in the natural beauty at its best. Surrounding mountains gives an awesome look and experience. .
The teme premises is well maintained. Crowd management is pretty good.
Devotees can avail the free shuttle service being operated from the bus stand to the temple car parking area. From their newly laid out stairs provide comfortable climbing.
This is one of Murugan's Abodes (Arupadaiveedu), signifying the six abodes of Lord Murugan representing the six different forms related to events in his life. The temple, a popular 12th-century hill temple, is situated 12 kilometers from Coimbatore. What makes this Murugan temple special is its location on the eastern face of the hill, distinguishing it from other Murugan temples atop hills. This astonishing, magnificent, and beautiful temple crowns the summit of Marudhamalai Hills. The gentle, refreshing breeze feels heavenly to the devotees, offering an enchanting sight of the lush mountainous surroundings. Peacocks grace the hills, adding to the beauty of this truly amazing place.
The temple is a small temple on the hill. All the services were good according to me. There is a temple provided bus service that connects downhill to uphill and the bus only costs 10 ₹. The hair donation is also free but there is some unaccounted money taken (Mostly around 200 ₹). The waiting time is very low in normal seasons. There are special tickets which are 50₹ per person. The stairs are also good but it's a little uncomfortable and I would not recommend it unless you are not able to climb stairs easily. The temple has a very good environment and the cleanliness of the temple was good. The stairs close approximately 5pm and the last bus service from uphill to downhill is 8pm. So reaching there before these times would be reasonable. There is a good amount of parking uphill for cars and bikes. Definitely would recommend for any type of transport public and private. I have tried this temple in all different holidays and the wait times are always very low unless there is an abishekam going on. Where people have to wait for the abishekam to end. It mostly takes 40mins for the abishekam to end.

The Eachanari Vinayagar Temple, located in Coimbatore, is a historic temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha. The temple's tower is intricately carved and draws visitors from all over the world due to its splendid architecture and peaceful ambiance. According to legend, the temple's 6-feet tall Vinayaga idol was being transported to another location when it got stuck at its current location after the cart's axle broke.
Located on national highway NH209. Vinayagar statue in almost 6 feet, we can worship the god from a distance without hassle.
Well maintained temple. A beautiful temple with good ambiance . Every day Ganapathy homam is performed. Powerful and vibrant Vinayagar
Must visit place and it is only 15 Km away from Coimbatore.
This Temple is opened from 5am everyday and is closed at 10pm without any break of worship time.

This is very famous temple in coimbatore. People come here from many places to worship god Vinayaka. For new vehicles, new business come here for special pooja. In the side there is sacred fig tree under which naagar statues are present. It will be cool inside the temple always and is not closed in afternoons. This temple has golden chariot, goshala, flower garden, yagasala, a shop having spiritual book, holy threads and vinayaga's photos. This temple is very spacious and not so crowded in weekdays except on monthly chaturthi's. Every day annadhanam is offered in afternoons. Restrooms are available here.

This place has inbuilt Mandapam for marriage functions and avail annadhanam.
Also, I saw there were little maintenance work going in there for enhancement.
Facilitated with parking for both two and four wheeler.
You can wash your legs before entering the temple.
Shops available nearby to buy poojai items.
Separate place to break coconut which is located nearby Arasamaram Vinayagar.
Restrooms and wash area are available.

Eachanari Vinayagar temple was unique of its own because of its location as well as the ample space around. Before the puliyakulam vinayagar this was in place I remember the age old traditional structures around, when there were no flyovers it will be too crowded.
Now recently the flyover actually helps us to peacefully park our vehicle and get into the temple.
Ticket for vehicle Pooja - Rs.20
Outside shops:
Coconut plate - Rs.100
Garland for car & 5 lemons - Rs.380 (Very over priced )
The temple was sparking clean and we had a peaceful Dharshan as well did the Pooja for our new vehicle without any hassles. May be just it was the next day to pongal it was not that crowded.
A calm and soulful experience! ❤️🌾💐

Om Maha Ganadhipathaye Namaha !
Peaceful temple. Whenever we buy a vehicle its a mandatory feel comes to heart that we should visit God Ganapathy here and get his blessing. Blissful temple.
One thing about the pooja items shop in front of the temple is , they are cheaters selling one lotus and handful of arugampul for Rs.80, also 5 lemons and a small coconut for Rs.70, so you can get things from your home or other shops while coming to temple itself. These shops keepers have that attitude, if you want then buy else go because we don't lose anything because of you. So better don't buy anything.

The location of DHYANALINGAM is suggested to be conducive for peaceful meditation. The presence of a Shiva linga adds to the calming environment, which could help in attaining inner peace. It is recommended that individuals spend at least 10 minutes meditating here, while maintaining absolute silence. Well, big land converted to a religious place having Lor Shiva's statue 🙏 but other than the statue, it is just a place where you can enjoy some food, have shower, and see bullock cart. Lastly a Dome, also called Dhyanlinga where you can sit and meditate. It can also be done at home for people who don't know. Try this, go back home and close your eyes, empty your mind and call upon whoever you worship. God is within you.
They have SAVE SOIL slogan and they love animals. There is bullock cart in 50° degrees carrying passengers from one place to the other. I mean we have battery cars and golf cars but they love animals and want them to know that they are loved deeply. Lets make these poor animals carry 9 people at once under the 50° degree sun. Touche!
Tradition can be supported with technology too, we don't need to harm animals this way. We could barely walk in the sun and these poor animals were carrying so many people. God forgive these people who are doing this to animals 🙏
BATH FACILITY - We had shower in the morning so we didn't go shower here. I mean it's not elixir otherwise we would have definitely.
DHYANLINGA - the road (walk only) leads to dhyanlinga but when its nearly 50° degrees, it makes it difficult to walk barefoot on the UNEVEN and hot surface. They could have put Carpet on the foor covering uneven surface but i guess they were short of funds and also they wanted you to feel the culture. You are going to feel that culture the next day too when your feet hurts. There were old people walking slowly and some of them were pouring water on the floor to walk on that hot surface. It was 3PM and Carpet is a must for people who aren't used to walking on the uneven hot surface.
Finally when you reach dhyanlinga, they will force you to sit inside dome and meditate. We recently had an accident and couldn't sit on floot so they forced us to sit on the chair. We didn't want to be rude so we sat for 2 minutes. There was a small baby crying very softly and these CARETAKERS asked the lady to get out pointing finger as if she made a huge mistake. If they can't respect humanity, what good will come of anything they practice in life. We saw that and immediately stood up. 2 of them tried blocking our way. Well, just to be clear, We bow to God only and there was no God here. We are not slaves they need to get this to their heads. We left instantly without responding to them.
By the way, the best feeling was when we bought 3 packets of biscuits and made the dog eat. He was very happy and kept coming back to give his love. That was the only good feeling we got. We made sure the dog wasn't hungry anymore and then left back for the hotel.
Canteens are everywhere so don't worry if you miss one. There are more on the way. Also phones were not allowed but we noticed some of them carrying it quietly with them. The deposit box is safe. They take your photo and phone number. So nothing to worry about.

I’m reviewing about a unique 'space' on our planet. It needs some introduction.
I’ve a great respect for Tamil people. They follow their age old culture and traditions even today.
Countless Sages & realized beings have illuminated this land since time immemorial.
Sage Agastya , (who wrote our horoscopes in palm leafs known as Nadi Astrology thousands of years ago. Even foreigners come to places like Tanjore to get their horoscope)
Thiruvalluvar, Ramana Maharshi, the great Mahavatar Babaji (I was initiated to Babaji’s Kriya Yoga by Sri M),
Bhogar (It was Bhogar who first noticed the presence of Murugan, the son of Lord Shiva at Palani and made an Idol for him using ‘navapashanas’ or 9 poisons, When these 9 poisons are mixed in a certain proportion, it can heal all ailments)
and finally Lord Shiva himself spent some time on Velliangiri Mountains to grieve his lover’s death. (His wife Parvathi took the life of a Tamil girl in one of her previous life known as Devi Kanya Kumari). That is why this place is known as the Kailash of the South.
Even Sadhguru , in his previous life left his body on Velliangiri mountains. That is the reason he built Isha Yoga Centre just near the velliangiri mountains.
I’ve been longing to visit Dhyanalinga Temple and spent some time inside it since I hear about Sadhguru and read his biography, ‘Sadhguru, More than a Life’. .
We’ve thousands of temples all over the country, but there is one and only one Dhyanalinga Temple. It’s unique.
There is no idol or deity of any kind inside. Only a cylindrical shaped linga with 7 chakras or energy centres as of in a human system with all the chakras energized to its fullest and traped in the linga by sadhguru using his yogic power. It’s a pure energy work.
If anyone who haven’t even heard of mediation comes and sits in front of the linga in silence, he automatically falls to meditation. So Dhyanalinga is also known as meditating machine. Dhyanalinga temple has an important role to play for the centuries to come ahead.
As there is no idol of any kind inside, no rituals are required here.
There is no need to pray inside the temple, just sit in silence. The dhyanalinga will lay the ‘Egg of liberation’ within us. It’ll accelerate our spiritual evolution.
I visited here on Jan31, 2021. Due to corona pandemic, there were many restrictions. Suryakund etc were kept closed however Dhyanaligna Temple was open.
I wasn’t prepared for this journey. I accidentally reached Coimbatore with a friend who wanted to meet his girl friend studying in some college here. We had liquor and non veg food previous days. Yet it was a wonderful experience inside the temple.
If one comes well prepared (having veg foods, little mediation etc), one may have mystical experiences inside the temple.
I was in Coimbatore last week also, but I couldn’t visit Isha Yoga Centre. I’ll be coming here soon with a little bit of preparation.
Pranam Sadhguru
Sajeevan, kannur, kerala
The credit to all the information I shared here goes to Sadhguru himself, he is a living encyclopedia.
I’ve added a photo of Dhyanalinga taken from the internet.

You may have gone to too many temples for seeking health, children, money, marriage issues and they may or may not have helped you to find solutions. But this is of a different kind of temple. Absolutely stunning place to visit once in a lifetime. This is a meditation hall with residences around for the people who visit this place for a purpose. Camera, phones, bags and footwear are not allowed but there is a stall right at the entrance to submit these materialistic stuffs. Basically it's somewhat like leaving all material things behind to enter this area. This is run by the Isha foundation and it is just a km away from the Adiyogi statue. Dhyanalinga is the main highlight of this area where people just sit across the huge linga and meditate as much longer as they want. This is a very peaceful place to be around with all the people doing yoga and meditating in the premises. Must visit!

and finally Lord Shiva himself spent some time on Velliangiri Mountains to grieve his lover’s death.

Dhyanalinga Shiva Temple 🙏🚩
Dhyanalinga Shiva Temple in Coimbatore a city in the south Indian state of Tamil Nadu.
Dhyanalinga is present within the premises of Isha Yoga Center. And once you cross Adiyogi statue you need to submit mobile phones and bags to enter the premises where all Kunds, Linga Bhairavi is present.
Har Har Mahadev🙏🚩
You will generally walk into one direction making way past across all the Kunds, Temple etc. while before exiting once you look on your right there is an entrance which will lead you to enter Dhyanalinga which at first glimpse will look like the best thing your eyes has ever laid upon. The place maintains complete silence as it usually a place where people meditate in silence.

Dhyanalinga Situated around 30 kilometres from the city of Coimbatore, the Dhyanalinga Temple is a place made up of yogic science. Not belonging to any faith or belief, the Dhyanalinga was made and blessed by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev. Many worshippers and visitors find this huge linga to be the source of something energetic, magical and calming. Just silently meditating for a while within the sphere of Dhyanalinga is enough to make one aware of the divine energy.

I would give here 3 stars as everything goes well during my visit but one thing I noted here is that the employee of mgmt forced people to make a circle around the Shivling. Which should not be supposed to be done. Otherwise everything at Dhyanalinga is good.
You're not allowed to bring phones here, one needs to submit it at the counter at the entrance.

One of a kind meditation place. Mobile phones and plastic bottles are not allowed inside. Absolute silence to be maintained during the visit of this temple. No chanting or anything to be done during your meditation; just need to sit with your eyes closed and palms facing upwards. Initially we are supposed to stare at the linga for 2 minutes, and then close our eyes and meditate for as long as we want, but minimum of 15 minutes which will be intimated by ringing of a bell.

It was a nice place to visit. Calm and quite premises inside the buildings. During the summer, daytime is a bit horrible experience as there are no shadows to rest on the Yogi statue area. The light show at night is spectacular. It creates a memorable moment for the devotees. For the non believers also it is also a nice show..

Adiyogi in Coimbatore is best visited on weekdays or non-public holidays to avoid large crowds that can disrupt the experience of embracing Yogi culture. However, for casual visits, the crowd might not be an issue. Plan your trip accordingly, noting the numerous signboards available in case you get lost. There are plenty of parking lots, albeit paid, and facilities such as washrooms, food counters, and souvenir shops. Great place to visit. It's good for doing meditation. There is a spiritual atmosphere here. The giant statue of Adiyogi is a great attraction. The hotel inside the Isha Centre is clean and the price is economical. Most of the employees are friendly. There was no proper lighting when we walk from the Serpent entrance to the Adiyogi Statue during late evening. I feel it's little risky during that time. It will be good with better lighting in that area. Overall, the experience is great!

Avoid in the sunny days as the cool Breeze might be missing but when it's cloudy or cold this place is heaven. Try reaching here when the crowd is little less may be on weekdays or early morning.

An architectural masterpiece of 112 feet Adiyogi. Adiyogi is situated in the middle of all hills. You have to go almost 8 to 10 KM inside from NH44 highway. Ample amount of car parking, electric buggies, and Carts pulled by bulls to transport from the parking place to the statue. The overall experience was great . There are a lot of food stalls and the prices are very nominal. It’s a free entry monument. The yoga center offers a serene retreat for spiritual seekers. The merchandise shopping allows you to buy different things. Better to visit in the evening, you can see the laser light show in the statue, it will start around 7:10pm everyday.

The most peaceful place I’ve ever been to. Saadhguru has such an amazing initiative of save the soil. Please go to the main temple first have a bath in the holy waters and sit and meditate but before doing so you need to deposit your mobile phone and bags(extremely safe and easy). You will be surprised how your meditation goes it felt like 5 minutes for me but I was in deep meditation for hours. It is stunning and peaceful inside. Pray nicely and channel your inner energy here. There are lovely food places inside the main temple which you could indulge in and it’s also cheap. The Adiyogi statue lights up at night from 19:20pm and they have a laser lights show for about 20 minutes or so which is so stunning it is state of the art technology and so insightful. Please support this and donate if you can.

This statue deserved a 5 star rating. I didn't observe anything negative which I can mention here. The path that leads to the statue is clean and water tanks are installed on the way. You'll come here from the back of Shivji and then at the front you can either sit or stand to attend the show.
The light and sound show is amazing. The sound quality of the speaker is good. The story they tell is amazing. Although instead of english and the local language, it'll be good if the whole show is elaborated in hindi. One can come here to enjoy the light and should show experience.

Yesterday’s visit to the Isha Yoga Center was an experience that stands out in my memory. Nestled at the foothills of the Velliangiri Mountains, the center exudes a tranquil energy that is both grounding and uplifting.
The highlight of my visit was the Adiyogi Shiva statue. Towering at 112 feet, it is a sight to behold and serves as a powerful reminder of the yogic sciences’ potential for transformation. The sheer scale and artistry of the statue left me in awe, and the peaceful surroundings provided a perfect backdrop for some quiet reflection.
The Dhyanalinga was another profound experience. Sitting in its presence, I could feel a deep sense of peace that is hard to put into words. It’s a space that seems to cut through the noise of daily life and invites you into a moment of stillness.
The center is well-maintained, and it’s evident that a lot of thought has gone into creating an environment that supports self-discovery and spiritual growth. From the Nada Aradhana to the Pancha Bhuta Kriya, every element is designed to facilitate a deeper connection with oneself.
In conclusion, my visit to the Isha Yoga Center was a journey into tranquility and self-awareness. It’s a place I would recommend to anyone looking for a pause from the hustle and bustle of life to reconnect with their inner self

The Palakkad Fort, which has been preserved since 1766 CE, contains a garden and pathways for walking. Additionally, there is a temple dedicated to Hanuman and a playground on the premises. Although its early history remains largely unknown, the fort holds great historical significance. Many Malayalam films have been filmed here making it quite popular as well.
I recently had the pleasure of visiting Palakkad Fort in the evening, and it proved to be a delightful experience. This historic fort not only offers a glimpse into the past but also provides a serene and airy atmosphere, perfect for a leisurely walk and a breath of fresh air.
As I entered the fort, I was immediately struck by its architectural beauty and rich historical significance. The well-preserved fort walls, bastions, and gateways exuded a sense of grandeur and stood as a testament to the region's cultural heritage. It was fascinating to explore the various sections of the fort, each with its own story to tell.

I liked the way that this fort is being maintained. I liked it a lot. The waterway around the first have lots of tortoises and fishes in it which was very nice to watch. This fort made me remind the medieval time period. Palakkad Fort, also known as Tipu's Fort, is a historic fortress located in the town of Palakkad in Kerala, India. The fort has historical significance and is a popular tourist attraction in the region.
The fort was constructed by Hyder Ali, the ruler of Mysore, in the 18th century and later expanded by his son, Tipu Sultan. It is a well-preserved structure that reflects the architectural style of that era. The fort is characterized by its massive stone walls, bastions, and a large moat surrounding it, which was once filled with water.
Here are some key aspects of Palakkad Fort:
1. Historical Significance: The fort played a crucial role in the history of Kerala as it served as a strategic military base for Hyder Ali and Tipu Sultan. It witnessed many battles and was an essential part of their defense in the region.
2. Architectural Charm: The fort's architecture is a blend of Mysorean and European styles. It features large stone walls, intricately designed doors, and a well-planned layout that includes a mosque and granaries.
3. Museums: Inside the fort, there are two museums, the Palakkad Fort Museum and the District Historical Museum. These museums house a collection of artifacts, weaponry, and historical items that provide insights into the region's history.
4. Scenic Surroundings: The fort is surrounded by lush greenery and gardens, making it a pleasant place for a leisurely stroll and exploration.
5. Accessibility: Palakkad Fort is easily accessible from the town center and is a popular destination for both history enthusiasts and tourists.
While the fort is historically significant and provides a glimpse into Kerala's past, it's not as grand or imposing as some other forts in India. Nonetheless, it's worth a visit if you are in Palakkad and interested in history and architecture. The fort's tranquil surroundings and the opportunity to learn about the region's history make it a worthwhile stop for travelers.

Though seeing students in corners making out does put you in spot especially when with your kids. There's enough space to keep on moving & exploring 😄... Good views from fort tops... One can feel relaxed. Parking is ample and it's charged. Beside the fort there's a garden. We had to leave unfortunately to reach another place so couldn't explore it. There's a namesake museum inside the fort. Nothing much to explore though.
Overall it's a good visit.

I recently visited the historical fort in Palakkad, and it's another great spot for family and friends to explore. The presence of a temple inside the fort adds to its cultural significance. One of the positive aspects is the ample car parking area and the availability of toilet facilities, making the visit more convenient. The fort also caters to families with children by providing a nearby park. However, one significant downside is the early closing time of 5 pm, even on holidays. This early closure negatively impacts tourism, as many visitors may prefer to explore the fort later in the evening. It would be beneficial if they extended the visiting hours on holidays, perhaps until 7 pm, to better accommodate tourists and enhance the overall experience.

A marvelous spot in the center of the town. Entry ticket cost rs 25 for adults. Suggested for a 30 minutes to one hour time span. Fort is almost well maintained, but some area in the backside is filled with creepers and shrubs. Also a temple is situated inside this fort building. Rock pillars and other structures in the fort makes it attractive. Now it is maintained by archeological survey of India. It is just 5 kilometres away from palakkad junction railway station, which costs a rs 13 in local bus ( in 2023). Buses are continuously available from entrance of the railway station itself.

Nice place to spend silent and joyful moments.Suitable for all age group people. Mostly for couples or lovers. Good place to get some feel of 300+ year old memories of our people. Inside there is a temple dedicated for hanuman.there is an information centre for this archeological site. Place to visit. Entry ticket is 25 per adult. Kids below 15 years are considered to be free. There is a park adjacent to the fort. Quiet good to spend time there.

Its an old fort now under the control of Archaeological survey of India . Those who like to know the history of monuments and enjoy its features it's a good choice. And it's a place where you can spent some time with your friends and family. The ticket rate is just Rs 25 per person. You can just roam around and sit in the shades of the trees with friends and family.
Parking available . Overall it's a nice place.

It is an ASI protected monument, hence maintained well. Other than the sign board outside, there is an information gallery once you enter the fort, which is not up to mark. But most of the people do not get to know there is an information gallery due to lack of sign boards. It is a place where people can go sit for some time in the park inside the fort and under the trees outside the fort. Ticket price is Rs.25. There is a Hanuman temple at the entrance of the fort.

Palakkad Fort is a beautiful fort located in Palakkad town. Built by Hyderali, the ruler of Mysore, this fort is very beautiful. The main attractions are the water-filled moats outside the fort, ramparts, watch towers and the temple inside the fort. You can visit the fort from 6 to 8 in the morning for free. Best time to visit is morning and evening.

The Palakkad Fort is an ASI protected monument, maintained well. There is a lack of signboards which hinders wayfinding. The huge canopy of the tree provides shade and serene atmosphere.
The entry ticket is Rs.25/-. Opening time is from 8.30am to 5.30pm

Arulmigu Masani Amman Temple is an elaborate and full-service Hindu temple located in Anamalai, approximately 11km from Pollachi town bus stand. The temple is known for its worship of several deities, including the stone of justice. Visitors can expect a powerful and rejuvenating experience while visiting this famous temple. It is recommended to visit on working days and to refrain from purchasing garlands or sarees as they will not be accepted by Amman.
Nice and calm place. Visit this temple on working days. Don't buy garlands, sarees to Amman. They won't accept anything from us. Just go and pray. Ample car park. Don't forget to drink tender coconut, very chill.

Amazing temple near Pollachi, goddess status is very nice and the feel we get after the darshan is too good. Very powerful god and wishes do come true here. Must visit for all. Very close to the picturesque top slip and Pollachi. Can cover the top slip and temple within a day.

Like everyone commented devotees are forced to buy Pooja items.. parking space is available..
Food and drinks are not recommended surrounding the temple...
Apart from that the God is a powerful God as updated by my mother.. so no comments..
But they're giving free presadham for everyone..

First of all don't trust Auto guys...They are costing 🔴 100₹ for 1km travel over surrounding area. Recommended to walk nearby bus stop and take local buses. No phone no material other than money is allowed inside. Full checkup will be done before entering. There is a common way that will lead you inside the temple in all four gates will take around 2 hrs to see all over the temple.
Note : If you know some big shots you can walk through the temple without any stops.
All the police inside the and outside the temple are working hard and friendly. Salute to all of them 👏👏.
I seen a tour guide for the temple at the ways of exit. I don't know why he is sitting at the exit point.🤭🤭
All the eatables selling inside will cost ₹20 each. Taste so 😊😊😊😊
Maddy Romex — Google review
We reached there around 9. Temple wasn't crowded. There are stands for removing slippers outside the gate but no attendants so, it's better to leave them on car or with any of the shopkeeper outside. There is parking inside, amidst what seemed like a coconut farm. They charge 50/-.
We bought tickets for golden Lotus Pooja which is for 100/- rs. That helped quicker darshan. In this one can write and submit their desires to the deity.
They also have chilli grinding (which we bought from shops outside). This is done to ward off any evil shadow/ curse, which we didn't know until the priest told us. There was some confusion inside. The ticket counter and the priests were not aligned on some things it seemed. The priest for chillo was a little rude.
They also serve sweet Pongal and tamarind rice inside which is for 20/- each and it was delicious. Must try

A temple to visit atleast once in a lifetime.
One unique aspect of this temple is the practice of writing wishes on paper or a piece of cloth and offering it to the deity. This act symbolizes a deep faith in the goddess's ability to fulfill desires and bring positive changes in the lives of devotees. The process involves pouring one's heart out onto the paper, expressing hopes, dreams, and aspirations before placing it at the temple as an offering.
This ritual of writing wishes and presenting them to the divine symbolizes the act of surrendering one's desires and seeking divine intervention to manifest them. It's a way for devotees to connect with the divine and believe in the power of faith.

The Arulmigu Masani Amman temple is about 60km south of Coimbatore city. It is unique in many respects including the fact that devotees especially women folks come here for praying to Amman for justice.
The ritual of crushing chilly on a grinding stone within in the temple is also unique.
The temple is beautiful, neat and gives a very positive experience.
Highly recommended.

One of the famous temple situated near Pollachi. The temple is powerful and divine.
Beware of street vendors they force you to buy products, also there is official temple parking near the temple which costs around 50 rupees dont go to vendors' parking where they force you to buy products which are also high in price .
The temple had clean restrooms and separate washrooms for bath and dressing.
The temple was well-maintained and had a positive energy.
The temple had 3 lines one is free, the second line costs 25 rupees, and the third line costs 100 rupees.

Arulmigu Masani Amman Temple, also referred as Anaimalai Masani Amman Temple, is a highly revered shrine situated at Anaimalai, which is located about 24 km far south-westerly to Pollachi. It is situated at the confluence of Aliyar River and the Uppar stream, nestled amid grasslands against the backdrop of mighty Anaimalai Hills. The temple enshrines the goddess Arulmigu Masani Amman as the presiding deity. The deity is seen in a lying posture measuring 15 feet from head to foot, which is unique. Other deities worshiped in the complex include neethi kal (stone of justice) and Mahamuniappan. It is a popular belief here that Masani Amman cures any illness if one goes around her trident

Temple and surrounding is neat and clean. There is no proper maintainance, as it was little crowded, we went near lord through the exit way, and no one asked for it. We can get a paper costing Rs. 10 (for 2 papers) in which we can write letter to god, and they're kept in hands of goddess 🙏. We get a divine feel in the temple 🙏. Reviewed on 15-01-2024.

Powerful Godess! Visiting after a decade, I see a lot of improvements.
Queue management was good. Ample covered space inside the premise to manage the crowd. For quick dharsan on a crowded day, go for 100 Rs ticket.
The biggest problem is the access road and car parking.

Temple destination for most people as it gives you a wholesome divine feeling where you can immerse yourself into the atmosphere of devotional but be more cautious when you enter the area as it is the people who run the stalls are literally holding your hands to do the writings for the prayers which we can do ourselves inside the temple as it is cost you a good fortune.

Anaimalai Tiger Reserve is a nature reserve that houses an array of wildlife, including elephants and tigers. Visitors can enjoy animal encounters such as elephant rides and have the opportunity to spot these creatures both during the day and at night. The park offers off-road excursions and trekking spots with guidance from forest department officials who collect fees at various points. Additionally, Anaimalai is known for its coconut production, accounting for 75% of all coconuts in Pollachi.
Nice place to chill over the weekends. We can see elephants live feeding at the camp, other wild animals like bison, deer, bird varieties, monkeys(not the one's that we usually see), wild squirrels, wild elephants etc.
Try to be here early as possible, maybe around 6.30 so that you can see wild animals inside the reserve.

The Anamalai Tiger Reserve, more famously known as the Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary and National Park, located in the south of India is a unique reserve which has long since protected the endemic species of both plants and animals that reside here.
The reserve was officially declared a Tiger Reserve in the year 2007. It lies in the Western Ghats which is a well-known hotspot for biodiversity. This also means that the species found in the tiger reserve are truly endangered and often rare and in need of protection. A visit to Tamil Nadu will never be complete without visiting the Anamalai Tiger Reserve that has been the constant state's companion since its establishment in the year of 1848. The reserve’s unique location also makes it a gathering spot for many nature lovers and photographers that wish to witness the marvels of the reserve while also taking in the marvels of the landscape surrounding it. Another aspect that makes the reserve truly unique is the fact that it is also an anthropological reserve and hosts around six different tribal groups, one of which is endemic to the area. When visiting the reserve individuals are sure to witness at least a few things that would hold their interest and have them delving deeper into the reserve.

The drive from Anamalai to Parambikulam is filled with greenary and is quite peaceful and relaxing
By the mid-1800s, large tracts of Valparai plateau in the Anamalais were under intense tea or coffee plantations after deforestation of the natural forests. By 1866 two-thirds of the plantations were owned by Europeans and the remaining by Indians from coastal towns. Since most native inhabitants either refused to work or were inefficient workers, labour for plantations was brought from the plains of Tamil Nadu to clear forests and grow coffee.
Some parts of the forest however were reserved for timber including large areas around Top Slip. This part of the Western Ghats, under the Madras Presidency were exploited extensively for teak which was supplied to the Bombay Dockyard for shipbuilding and later for railroad ties.
In 1855, this area came under sustainable forest management for teak plantations by the pioneering efforts Douglas Hamilton and H. F. Cleghorn of the new Tamil Nadu Forest Department. In the early 1900s, protection of the Karian shola was also ensured.
The area was notified as Anaimalai Wildlife Sanctuary in 1974. of its unique habitats at 3 places – Karian Shola, Grass hills, Manjampatti Valley were notified as a National Park in 1989. The 108 square kilometres (42 sq mi) National Park is the core area of the 958 square kilometres (370 sq mi) Indira Gandhi Wildlife Sanctuary.IGWS was declared a Project Tiger tiger reserve in 2008.
The Park and the Sanctuary is under consideration by UNESCO as part of The Western Ghats World Heritage Site. The Sanctuary and the Palni Hills in Dindigul District form the Aanaimalai Conservation Area.[9]

ATR as known went with much expectations but nothing that justified it, was lucky to see spotted deer, a few elephants nothing else, Topslip or the Govt should take steps to make the safari a memorable one and not a damn boring thing, 236 Rs was charged per head but didn't feel worth it. All the time that one invests seems to be worthless at the end, before visiting make sure to choose the best time or else the visit will be totally worthless. Jungle Safari shouldn't be done for the sake of safari 😶.

One of the famous tiger reserve in Tamil nadu with wide range of biomes.Famous for bengal tiger presence but we are not lucky enough to spot any animals that time. Some areas were dry deciduous forest which lacks greenery.Traveling through this area was a thrilling ride. After Udumalaipettai there will be a check post before the forest where you need to pay entry fees of Rs 30. One of the concerns which I noticed people were littering plastic waste along this ghat road which is unacceptable and disappointing.
The Aliyar Dam is a picturesque waterway surrounded by mountains, gardens, and parks. Visitors can enjoy the beautiful Valparai hills view from the top of the dam while children can play in the park. The area is also popular for movie shootings and offers several hotels and tea shops nearby. Though entry fees are high, ample parking space is available. Weekend getaways are possible with bakeries located close to the dam.
A vast water body in the foothills of Valparai. Situated between mountains, this place looks extravagant and large. There is a long road on the banks of this place, you can have a long walk if you are fit enough. When you visit this place, you can remember seeing the place in many tamil movies.
They have a small park and play srea for kids. The surrounding area is full of trees and lots of eateries serving fish dishes.
From the base area to the top, there are steep steps which would feel little hard for older people. But the view on top is great and worth the climb. If lighting is good, this place can be a good place for photography. Also, the surrounding mountains creates a good scenery.
When you climb up towards Valparai, you can have a gold glimpse of the full dam area. From hairpin bend 7 to 15. Be cautious if you are driving though.
One thing to note is that the staff in ticket counter would try to con you. They will chsrge 20rs for 1 mobile phone but will not give the ticket. Please ensure that you ask and get it.

The Pothundi Dam is a 19th-century structure made of earth that serves as a barrier to retain water, creating a reservoir used for both fishing and irrigation purposes. This dam was built using natural materials such as soil, rocks, and clay. It functions by preventing the flow of water from the river and instead storing it in an artificial lake formed by the dam.

The forest department has been doing a great work.
Only thing that they need to change/arrange is, about the vehicle for safari. Not all the tourist come with an SUV or a off-road drivable vehicle.
So either they need to inform the tourist in advance or they should arrange some vehicle that can be taken off road inside forest.

I honestly didn't expect the hospitality, the food or the wilderness experience to be of that level. I was pleasantly surprised at how well curated it all is.
Right from the get go, a guide is assigned to you. This guide will be along with you during the safari, next day's early morning Trek and the bamboo rafting experience.
The guides only speak Tamil or Malayalam but are very knowledgeable and courteous.
The stay- it is well maintained, comfortable and the rooms are huge.
Food- There isn't a restaurant and it isn't A la carte but depending on your preference, they serve really tasty food in a buffet setting.

Well maintained stay by forest department. The package includes everything like food, guide, trekking, safari. The rooms are clean. AC and hot water are available. The staffs are mostly local people, and their behavior is so nice. Buffet food is also of good standard.
I heard some random people complaining that the room is not a standard one or don't have a rich look. But please keep in mind that this is in the middle of the forest, and there are no other accomodations available. So, obviously there will be a lot of expense to maintain these limited number of rooms. So, please don't compare this with resort stays.

It was a very good experience to stay in Honey comb.
We were a group of 14 adults and 7 rooms provided. Kids and infants were also there.
Rooms are equipped with AC and Water heaters.
Cleanliness was enough in the aspects of a forest stay, but not to an extent of resort.
Powercuts are usual and they have power backup. But it will run only for 6hours. Please check whether they have enough diesel for whole night while you enter for stay. They cannot arrange at night as no petrol pumps nearby. Otherwise You may have to face powercut in the night. Please carry torch lights as a must.
Only BSNL has coverage in this area and it will not work during powercuts. Wifi is there park entry after that wifi is also not available.
So you will be your own , an experience most of us are missing nowadays.
Mostquitos and other insects were very less, nevertheless carry any repellents.
Place is safe to stay in terms of wildlife movement.
Food was good and safe, staffs also very helpful and they provided all the necessary help for infants like hot water. But again don't expect a resort kind of experience. They have all the shortcomings of a government run facility.
Safari was okeyish type as animal sighting is less compared to Bandipur.
Morning trekking was an excellent experience and we could sight elephants very close and the atmosphere was just awesome.
Boat safari is also really nice, but try to start the safari as early as possible.
Highly recommended if you have kids of growing and learning age. But carry all necessary things like medicines. Small tribal hospital is nearby but for small issues like fever and so on. Or they will shift you to Pollachi in an ambulance.
One more suggestion Tented Niche stay is also good, as they travel back from Parambikulam to anapady in late evening after safari. You have more chances of animal sighting.

The Sri Vadakkunnathan Temple in Thrissur, Kerala is an ancient Hindu temple believed to have been built by Parashurama. It is one of the oldest temples in the state and serves as an icon of the city, which derives its name from "the city of sacred Shiva". The temple features impressive wood and stone architecture on a nine-acre walled patch of green. The annual festival called pooram attracts devotees from all over the world.

A big complex of three core temples, and many other shrines around it on a large park on top of a scenic hillock. Shiva as Vadakkunnathan is the primary deity and He faces west here. He is in the form of a linga manifested by layers of solid Ghee. Hood of a multiheaded Cobra hovers over Him. When the deity is decorated with gold cladding, the sight is so beautiful and divine.
Right behind this sanctum is the shrine of Parvathi, Shiva's consort, facing east. Very beautiful looking deity.
Next shrine is for Ganapathi, facing east. Next big shrine is for Shankarnarayana, a dual image of Shiva and Vishnu. The left half of the idol is female depicting Vishnu as Mohini. This beautiful deity faces west.
The third big shrine is for Sri Rama, standing majestically with His bow on His left hand.
Outside this main temple, around it on the parikrama, there are shrines for Krishna, Ayyappa, Parasurama, Adhi Shakara and many more. The walkway around the temple, by itself is a very pleasant one.

I recently visited Vadakkumnatha Temple in Thrissur and was overwhelmed with the peace and sense of serenity the temple emanates. From the moment you enter the temple complex, you can feel the positive energy the place has. The whole atmosphere of the temple is filled with respect and reverence and the architecture of the temple is beautiful with ornate carvings and sculptures. The temple has a large number of devotees who come to seek blessings from the presiding deity and the priests are very knowledgeable and helpful. Overall, it was a great experience and I highly recommend visiting this temple if you are in Thrissur.

Vadakkumnathan Temple is an ancient Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva at city of Thrissur, of Kerala state in India. This temple is a classical example of the architectural style of Kerala and has one monumental tower on each of the four sides in addition to a kuttanbalam.
The Aanayoottu of feeding of elephants, is the second biggest festival held in the temple. The devotees refer to elephants as Lord Ganesh's incarnation. The festival falls on the first day of the month of Karkkidakam (timed against the Malayalam calendar), which coincides with the month of July. It has been the regular annual practice at the temple for the last 20 years to conduct a large-scale Ashta Dravya Maha Ganapathy Havana and Aanayoottu on the first day of the Karkidakom month of the Malayalam calendar. It involves a number of unadorned elephants being positioned amid a multitude of people for being worshipped and fed. A large number of people throng the temple to feed the elephants.

Vadakkumnathan temple is located at the bustling heart of the city, and I must say it's a truly unique and exceptional place. Despite the constant hustle and bustle of traffic just outside its gates, stepping into the temple felt like entering a different world altogether.
The serene and peaceful atmosphere within the temple was astonishing, providing a stark contrast to the noise and commotion of the city. It was as if the chaos of the outside world ceased to exist the moment I crossed the threshold. The feeling of calmness that enveloped the temple was truly remarkable, making it a perfect refuge for those seeking a peaceful escape from urban life.
The temple's ability to create such a tranquil environment in the midst of a busy city is a testament to its significance. It's a place where one can find solace, reflect, and connect with the divine without any external distractions. I highly recommend this unique temple to anyone looking for a spiritual and serene experience right in the center of the city.

An absolute must visit temple. It’s a very big temple complex with greenery all around. Just a look at the gaint trees will make you aware of the temple’s antiquity. The temple is one of the finest examples of Malabar architecture and awe inspiring murals painted with vegetable colours. We can easily spend a couple of hours looking at the murals depicting various ‘Puranas’. Don’t miss the evening ‘Arti’ (soon after sunset) and morning 4.15 AM darshan where Sri Wadakkunathan abhishekam with ghee is performed. I pray that I visit this temple again and again🙏

You will only able to hear water fall sound.
On the top you can enjoy the water and play in it.
You can stay in water and enjoy it like a water park always bring back my inner kid out.
On the bottom you can get the full view of fall.

One of my dream place in India. It’s mesmerising. From the entry with vehicle fee you have to pay and park the car beside the road as there is no particular parking. And take the entry ticket again for falls entry. From there it’s just 10-15 walkable distance for top view. Carry water bottle along with you and return the empty bottle in entry as they will give you 10 rupee refund. Enjoy the top view for a while and start trek to the down. If you are aged or handicap or having breathing issue do not take risk and stay in the upside as we need to walk inside the forest around 30 mins in mud. As it’s a orange alert when we enter, they don’t allow us to go near to the water fall. If you visit after February, you can play in the water due to water flow will be less. If you want to see the water flow then best time to visit is from June to December.
You will be lost for a while in nature for sure.

This is one beautiful place with all these elephants around so close. You'd be amazed to see how dominating man could get looking at these mighty animals chained up.
I do not understand how to describe the feeling.
First time in life, so many elephants in 45 minutes however this wasn't what I had imagined.
I thought they'd be left open with a barricade. Nope! They are chained. You need to go by yourself or educate the others that the elephants need not be disturbed.. It's worth the visit I sure would recommend only if it's not stressing the elephants. It is so sad to see them chained up to all four legs I wish it was different. There are people maintaining it. I saw them feed and give water to the elephants. I did not try to speak to any of the attendants as I was busy watching the elephants. From thrissur if you take a cab 7 seater it should cost you rs 2000 return to the station. 100 by local bus up and down.
There are camera charges too, be nice and pay for your camera. If it supports the animal please pay for your tickets.

You can walk around as every elephant is placed separately, next to each other and it's spread across the property. It seems like the kingdom of Kozhikode Samudri King. It was open earlier for the public to visit inside the palace but it seems COVID changed that, and now there's no entry. However, it was good to go around and see the Elephants and their mischiefs. I was also fortunate to witness a feeding session, where I observed the elephants up close. It was a heartwarming experience to see them enjoy their meals, and it left me with a sense of wonder and respect for these gentle giants.
The highlight of the visit was definitely the chance to interact with the elephants. I had the opportunity to feed them, and it was a surreal and unforgettable moment. The staff ensured that the interaction was safe for both visitors and elephants, prioritizing the animals’ well-being.

It left me with a profound appreciation for these magnificent creatures and the dedicated efforts of those working to protect them. I highly recommend this experience to anyone visiting Kerala.

The place was clean and reasonably well kept. There were many elephants standing at various places eating or just simply standing. After the first few elephants we realized that all elephants were chained in 2 legs and some had chains on 3 legs. This is seriously inhumane. These are gentle giants that normally walk 20-30km a day in the forests being forced to stand in the same spot for hours. Few of them had severe chaffing on their legs having been chained tight with very little slack for movement.
We can totally understand the frustration such treatment can cause, forcing them to act up occasionally.
Our expectation that these animals would be treated better for they carry the gods on their backs was completely squashed. We returned sad and with an uneasy feeling in our stomach.

Punnathur Kotta is an elephant sanctuary located in the 10-acre land of Guruvayoor devaswom, known for housing around 60 elephants. This training and grooming center dedicated to elephants is situated in Thrissur, about 22 km from the city center. The sprawling 11.5 acres of green foliage surrounding this park make it a prime attraction for visitors who want to watch these majestic animals being bathed and fed.
It was a wonderful visit. There was countless elephants there. Keep a safe distance from elephants while taking photographs. There are guards we cannot fed them. The ticket charge for adults is ₹30 and ₹20 for children. There is a small store you can have tea snacks and ice cream. Good to go with children with your own risk.

It's a great place to roam around and to check out the habitants of elephant. The entry is charged at Rs 20 for an adult and even for using the mobile phone camera one has to pay a fee of Rs.25. Got ample parking space.
But it felt pretty strange when I saw those beautiful mammals being tied up and kind of enslaved. They also deserve to live in this world peacefully. Some of those animals looked very sick as well.

One of the most enjoyable experiences in and around Guruvayoor is visiting the elephants. During our visit, we were delighted to find more than 30 well-maintained elephants, each taken care of with great attention.
A fun fact about these elephants is that they perform tricks and display their happiness when interacting with people. It truly adds to the joy of the experience.
In general, this visit offers a delightful and entertaining time. The place is kept clean, making it suitable for families with children. You can easily obtain an entry pass at the counter, with a fee of Rs 20 for adults. Additionally, there is ample car parking available, ensuring convenience for visitors.
Although there are no food options on-site, you are welcome to bring your own food without any issues.

If you're visiting Guruvayoor you shouldn't miss this place. Looks like a paradise for elephants closer to nature. You can walk around and see many elephants here. The place is rich with trees so in hot weather if you wish to go out, This will be a great option.

I was here to see Elephants. There used to be 67+ elephants and now it has reduced to 40+. There's a paid parking lot and there's an entrance fee, for adults it's Rs. 20/- and kids it's Rs. 15. It's good to go on a weekday as there's not much rush.

This is a very nice place to visit with kids, you can see lots of elephants in one place.
This place can improve a lot by providing a small recreation spot and play area for kids. I hardly find any place to sit. Provide the description of the elephants in the Kotta, utilise one of the building to develop an elephant museum. Showcase there lifestyle create videos and documentaries to showcase in Facility. This will give a unique experience to visitors

A well maintained place dedicated to elephants only. It includes food, shelter, medical facilities, training of elephants.
It is said that around 54 elephants are present in this facility and are taken to the Guruvayur temple during puja only
No one is allowed to ride and touch these elephants and provide food. If you want to feed them then you have to buy fruits and vegetables from the center at this location only. Must visit place as you will see many such things live that elephant does that you may have seen on TV only. Like eating, training, bathing, walking etc.

Beautiful place and is nearby to Guruvayoor temple. Similar to Guruvayoor temple, we have to wear dhoti and no shirts are allowed. Doesn't require much time to visit as it's quite small and not very crowded most of the time. If visiting Guruvayoor temple, you can take out some time to visit this place as it's very peaceful and worth the visit.

Mammiyur Mahadeva Temple is a popular Shiva temple situated in Guruvayoor, Thrissur district of Kerala, India.[1] Every devotee who goes to Guruvayur Temple is supposed to go to Mammiyoor also, as the ritual goes. Only Hindus are allowed inside the temple premises. The temple is a part of the 108 famous Shiva temples in Kerala and one among the five Shiva temples around Guruvayoor. The main deity is Lord Shiva, who is installed in the concept of 'Uma Maheshwara' - His form with Goddess Parvathi on his left. There is a shrine for Lord Vishnu also here. The sub-deities are Lord Ganapathi, Lord Subrahmanya, Lord Ayyappan, Goddess Kali and Serpent deities. This temple is managed by Malabar Devaswom Board. Daily three poojas are conducted. Shiva is the main Deity here in the form of a two feet tall linga. When he is decorated with gold cladding, tiers of bright cresents, He presents a beautiful serene look.
Next to Him, we have an equally beautiful MahaVishnu shrine. The butter cladding done on him presents an awesome look of the Lord. Reminding us of Guruvayoorappan himself.
When we go around the outer parikrama, there is a Bhagavatha temple on the northwest corner. She looks so beautiful in her gold cladding that one stays rooted looking at her awesome face.
Legend has that Sri Mahadeva offered the place where presently Sri Guruvayoorappan is installed and moved over here when Vayu and Guru bhagawan brought Sri Krishna's idol from Dwaraka.
A must visit temple.

Originally called as MAHIMA-YOOR Temple (The City of Mahima/Greatness).
.
An amazing temple of Mahadev with comparatively lesser crowd than Guruvayur.
.
This is the place where Mahadev shifted along with Parvati Mata, after the Guruvayur (original place of Mahadev/Parvati) was given for keeping VISHNU's Idol (this idol Krishna & Family worshipped in Dwarka but after Dwarka destroyed it was brought in Guruvayur).
.
Due to this, it is said that, visit of Guruvayur is incomplete without the darshan of Mammiyoor Temple.

It's a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, located at Mamiyur, which is 1 KM from Guruvayur. Lord Shiva has given the land or space for the Lord Krishna when Devathas Vayu and Prahaspathi approached him to install Lord Krishna. Uthava has obtained Lord Krishna's Vigraha when Dwaraka is submerged, Uthava handed over to Devathas Vayu and Prahaspathi. It's a must visit temple, and it has a parking facility on the sides. Temple has Sub Shrines dedicated to Lord Ganesha, Lord Krishna, Lord Murugan, and Sastha. It also has a Sarpa kavu and temple for Bagavati (if I am right). Kodanad Elephant Training Centre is a wildlife sanctuary located on the riverside, that serves as a rescue center for wild elephants. The center also offers interactive feedings and observation points with safari tours. Visitors can enjoy a nature walk accompanied by elephants and deer while experiencing the forest atmosphere. However, it's essential to note that this isn't a petting zoo or an encounter experience but rather focuses on rescuing wild animals.
The place has a huge area with very well maintained flora and fauna. The elephants here look healthy and friendly. A good place for a nice stroll, with fruit orchards, bamboo trees etc. A great number of deers as well as sambar deer are there. The butterfly garden is also nice. One watch tower to climb up and take pictures. On the other side boating is available. It's a nice place for a day outing. Elephant Training can be seen but not allowed to go near them. Kodanad Elephant Sanctuary is a rural riverside village in the Ernakulam district of Kerala, India. It is home to the Kodanad Elephant Training Centre, which is the only elephant rescue and training centre in Kerala. The centre is dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating elephants that have been injured, orphaned, or displaced from their natural habitats.
The centre is open to the public and offers a variety of activities, including elephant bathing, and feeding the elephants. Visitors can also learn about the history of the centre and the work that it does to protect elephants.
The elephants at the centre are well-cared for and receive regular veterinary care. They are also trained in a variety of tasks, such as carrying loads, performing tricks, and giving rides.
The Kodanad Elephant Sanctuary is a great place to learn about elephants and their conservation. It is also a fun and educational experience for the whole family.
Here are some pros and cons of the sanctuary:
Pros:
-The elephants are well-cared for and receive regular veterinary care.
-The centre is dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating elephants.
-Visitors can learn about the history of the centre and the work that it does to protect elephants.
-The elephants are trained in a variety of tasks, which is interesting to watch.
-The sanctuary is a beautiful setting, with lush vegetation and a river running through it.
Cons:
-Some visitors may be sad to see the elephants chained up.
(I believe with time the government may change its policy and elephants will roam free)
-The sanctuary is not very large, so it can get crowded during peak times.
Overall, I would recommend visiting the Kodanad Elephant Sanctuary if you are interested in learning about elephants and their conservation. It is a great place to see these amazing animals up close and learn about the work that is being done to protect them.
Here are some additional details about the sanctuary:
Opening hours: 8am to 6pm, closed on Mondays.
Parking fees: ₹20 for two-wheelers and auto rickshaws, ₹50 for four-wheelers, ₹70 for mini buses, and ₹120 for buses.
Entry fees: ₹50 for Indian citizens (adults), ₹20 for Indian citizens (children 5-13 years old), ₹300 for foreign citizens, and ₹250 for still cameras.
Toilet facilities: There are toilet facilities available for both men and women.
The facility is owned & Managed by State Government of Kerala.

Its a training centre for, to quote the women on the ticket counter 'naughty elephants'. The elephants who have harmed people. But I don't think thats entirely true, because there were nice elephants too like Asha and her mother. The ticket cost Rs50 for adults.
This training centre is like a big park which extends into wildlife sanctuary . But tourists are not allowed to visit the wildlife sanctuary part.
The training centre has butterfly park in the beginning but we didn't see many butterflies there. Then they have deer park. As in a fenced area with lots of deer in it. After that comes the elephant station.
One cannot go closer to the elephants or give them food or bath. One can only look at them from a distance. If you will move ahead, then you will find children's park with some swings and a food stall.

Hmmmm it's a good peaceful place to visit with your family and friends. You can easily spend 1 or 2 hours there but I was expecting more. It was nice to see the elephants, calling them with their names. Watched their activities. Some other animals like deers and sambhar were also there. Lots of plants and greenery. It was like a zoo.
Preeti Chowdhry — Google review
Ample parking space, very neat and beautifully maintained walkways. Filled with so many trees and plants, greenery was so satisfying. Mini zoo with deers and some elephants was good. Necessary food n snacks are available inside. Childrens park, swings, naturely seatings..everything was worth every penny. Fee per person was only Rs.50/-
Video camera fee Rs.250 was little high though.

It's an elephant training camp which houses about 10 elephants ranging from the age group of 19-52 years. It wasn't very crowded.
You could see elephants being bathed from a distance.
1-1.5hrs could be spend so clubbing with other nearby places will be ideal.
2 breeds of deers along with a butterfly garden can a be seen in the mini zoo.
A cafe is also present inside.
Entry fee : 50rs

I have visited this place many times during my childhood. We went last week and this place have changed drastically. Now it’s all allotted and clean but they don’t allow people near the animals. May be due to safety concerns. There’s a mini zoo, elephants, lots of tree houses, swings, lake view etc.

Kodanadu Elephant Camp is an elephant training centre situated in the small town of Kodanadu in Kerala. The camp is located along the Periyar River, surrounded by lush green and hills, making it a popular tourist attraction in the area. The camp was established in the 1950s and was used as a training centre for elephants that were later employed in the forestry industry. However, following the ban on logging at the end of the 20th century, the camp was converted into a preservation and rescue centre for elephants. Recently, Arikomban was supposed to be brought here and the wooden cage also made for it.
Today, the Kodanadu Elephant Camp is home to many elephants, both adults and calves. Visitors can watch the elephants bathed in the river, fed and cared for by the mahouts (elephant keepers), and even take walks through the surrounding forests. Visitors can also attend training sessions where the mahouts teach the elephants various commands and tricks.
In addition to elephants, the Kodanadu Elephant Camp also offers other activities such as rafting and birdwatching. The surrounding rainforest is rich n flora and fauna, and visitors can spot various species of animals and birds.
Overall, the Kodanadu Elephant Camp is a must-see destination for nature lovers and animal enthusiasts offering a unique opportunity to get up close and personal with one of the world's largest and most majestic animals.

It served as the residence of the Paliath Achans, prime ministers to the former Maharajas of Kochi. The palace museum showcases historic records and letters of the Paliam family. The Paliam Dutch Palace is located in the district of Ernakulam in the village of Chennamangalam. The palace is believed to have been a safe house for the ministers of the royal family when security was under threat due to the Portuguese. It is also believed that the Raja stayed incognito in the palace himself. The palace was restored and gifted back to the ministers of Kerala by the Dutch in appreciation of their valiant efforts. The building features elaborate and intricate Dutch architecture with a number of fascinating elements present within.

The place is rich in history, and much of it has been renovated and restored to its former glory by the Muziris Heritage Foundation. There's ample parking and the ticket pricing is nominal. The best bit is the guided tour provided by very knowledgeable and amiable guides. Excellent learning opportunity for those interested in early Kerala history.

Not much spoken about, it is a place that one must visit if one is around Cherai. The building boasts of a hybrid architecture and is pleasing to the eyes. Unfortunately Photography is NOT allowed inside thus not many photos could be taken. The place is the BEST maintained palaces of all the palaces I have seen in Kerala. Although the bass and volume was high the av presentation was worth it. Not many exhibits yet with a visit

The Paliam Palace was once used as the residence of the Paliath Achans, who were the prime ministers to the former Maharajas of the State of Kochi. During the 16th century, when the security of the Raja was under threat by the Portuguese, the then Paliath Achan ensured the safety of the Raja by escorting him to Chendamangalam. ). The Raja is believed to have stayed incognito in the place near the Kalari, hence the name Paliam Kovilakom (Palace). Being of native and not visiting this gem of place for last 34 years i do regret now. This is worth visiting historical place . Should include this place in ur itinerary if you planning to visit muzrus tourism in N Paravur or visiting famous chendamangalam temple. I would recommend to visit here during famous paliyam festival which will be around month of Jan/Feb every year. Worth visiting for those who loves history . Dutchmen built and presented this palace and in construction you can see their masterclass craft. 30% of materials has been renewed due to wear and tear and flood effects, but the authority has kept it in good condition. Entry fee is there. Monday holiday. Guides assistance available. They were too good with their knowledge and support during our visit. Photography not allowed inside, so could not take photos of it. Lots of things were moved to Hillpalace thripunithura . Very few items are available to see here at this palace. Not so busy place. Parking available.

A great beach, though it is narrow due to climate change and the rising ocean. A barrier has been built between the beach and the road so you need to climb up to get on the beach in some places.
But there is more than enough space to walk along the beach. The ocean here is pleasant and calm, perfect to swim or even just float. Sunsets were beautiful.

Nice beach to enjoy your evening. Moderately calm waters. Beach is clean and there are enough rocks to sit and enjoy the view. Gets crowded in the evening which spoils the experience a bit. The sunset was beautiful. It’s too far from Kochi and the taxi fare varies from INR 800-1200. During peak hours, it gets difficult to book Ola or Uber. Hiring a taxi for up and down is more convenient. There are shops near by from where you can buy beach dresses, towels, beach toys for kids etc. There are many food outlets near by to have food, which are average ‘daaba types’ and you will not find any fancy restaurants close to the beach. A few meters from the beach, there is a privately owned place that offers bathrooms to take bath and change your dress. It’s neat but not well maintained. Charges are nominal. Though it’s safe, you should make sure to go there when there are people around. Take care of your belongings. Overall, the experience was good and satisfactory!

Mattancherry Palace, also known as the Dutch Palace, is a Kerala-style palace with a rich history. Originally constructed by the Portuguese in 1555 and later renovated by the Dutch in 1663, it stands as a significant historical landmark in Kerala. The palace features exquisite architecture, artifacts, and paintings that depict scenes from the Hindu epic Ramayana. Located in Mattancherry near the Jewish Synagogue, this beautiful palace is a must-visit for those interested in history and culture.
Beautiful painting of mythology on walls and celling, old coins, stamp, murals, sculpture will take you hundreds of years back. Actually this place is more than museum. Amazing experience after seeing the oil painting with three dimensional effect.

There is a small pond near to it which adds to the beauty. There is also a temple next to it, where only Hindus are allowed.
There is an open parking space for this palace, where we can park our vehicles.

It is not a big palace. If you have visited Padmanabhapuram palace, Mysore palace and all this one is no match compared to them. Still is a small palace with limited historical mementos, paintings, royal kingdom belongings which are kept for display. Hardly in 15-20 minutes you can visit the whole place. There aren't too much to visit. But near by this palace you will have Jew town which is a great place for shopping antique and unique products, perfumes gift articles and so on. This place is also called the 'Dutch palace' where you can experience the theme of Dutch but the artistic skills of Kerala Murali Paintings, Wood Carving, Architectural amusements here. Photography is allowed inside the palace (except for the Kerala Murali Painting Rooms). Still the place is well maintained. Though we visited in the month of March, it was too hot. Make sure to carry a water bottle and an umbrella. There are a lot of shops around this place where mostly clothing, books, arts, and figurines can be found. For me, it mostly reflected the Portuguese style of streets rather than the Dutch ones. Maybe because both ruled the place at some point of time and hence the hint of both Dutch and Portuguese.

Nestled in the historic Jew Town of Old Cochin, the Paradesi Synagogue is a significant landmark as it is the oldest among the seven synagogues in the area that are still in use. The name "Paradesi" meaning foreigners was given to it when it was built by Spanish-speaking Jews in 1567. This synagogue houses a remarkable collection of rare antique items, including copper plates from the 4th century and gold crowns gifted by local kings.

A very beautiful place to walk and take photos. Now after road maintenance work, the place is better. Jew synagogue is a must visit place as the building is a historical place and the building is still maintained very well. The cool atmosphere inside the synagogue and the centuries old building makes us feel elated. This synagogue and jew street are the trademark of kochi.

Probably the oldest synagogue in India & now cared for by the Christian church. Very busy when we visited. Nicely decorated & lovely floor tiles which all look similar but none are the same. Recommended.

This Jewish synagogue was built in 1568, almost 1500 years after the beginning of the Jewish connection with Kerala. It was built on the land, adjacent to the Mattancherry Palace, given by the erstwhile king of Cochin.
The synagogue, the oldest in the Commonwealth, was built by the Jewish community of Cochin. In 1662, it was destroyed by the Portguese and then reconstructed, two years later, by the Dutch.
Enter the synagogue and the large main hall arrests your attention with display of rare antique objects that add to the grandeur of the place. The light falling through the large open windows make the sight of chandeliers and lamps more delightful. These glass chandeliers dangling from the ceiling belong to the 19th century and were imported from Belgium.
The floor of the synagogue itself is a showpiece with the paving of hand-painted blue willow patterned floor tiles. These ceramic tiles were brought from Canton, China in the 18th century by Ezekiel Rahabi, a renowned Jewish businessman. Each tile is different from one another in its design and it never fails to capture the admiration of the visitors. The marvellous construction of the synagogue is revealed in all its features including the splendid pillars.
A pulpit with brass rails is built in the center of the room. An exclusive gallery for women with gilt columns, a carved teak ark etc can be seen in the synagogue. The teak Ark houses four scrolls of Torah (the first five books of Old Testament) and they are encased in silver and gold. Two gold crowns presented to the Jewish Community by the Kings of Kochi and Travancore are also kept here.

Inside the small n beautiful Jewish colony where you can find many beautiful small shops n cafe. But the main attraction was the oldest synagogue--Paradesi Synagogue, only synagogue in India where Jewish community worships. It was originally built for those Jews who were exiled from Spain n Portugal.
Ticket charges 10/- per adult.

About Paradesi Synagogue:
This is one of the oldest and most well-preserved synagogues in India. It was built in 1568 by the Sephardic Jews who fled the Spanish Inquisition. The synagogue is a beautiful example of Kerala's architectural style, with its distinctive wooden pillars and intricate carvings.
My experience :
Jew Town Fort Kochi is a fascinating place to visit, but the ticket counter system is poorly designed

Paradesi Synagogue is located in Fort Kochi. The oldest Jewish settlement in Kerala. The Synagogue is no longer in use. The place is good, it gives feel we are in a different place
Sathyanarayana Garimalla — Google review
The Paradesi Synagogue, also known as the Cochin Jewish Synagogue or the Mattancherry Synagogue (Malayalam: പരദേശി ജൂതപള്ളി), stands as a historic landmark in Jew Town, a suburb of Kochi, Kerala, India. Erected in 1568 A.D. by Samuel Castiel, David Belila, and Joseph Levi, this synagogue was a testament to the vibrant Paradesi Jewish community in Kochi, comprising both Malabari Jews and Sephardic refugees fleeing religious persecution in Spain and Portugal.
As the oldest active synagogue within the Commonwealth of Nations, Paradesi Synagogue reflects a fascinating blend of Indian and Portuguese influences. The term "Paradesi" translates to "foreigners" in several Indian languages, aptly characterizing the synagogue's builders, who were Sephardic or Portuguese-speaking Jews, some hailing from exile in Aleppo, Safed, and other West Asian locales.
Nestled in Jew Town, the synagogue is a rare operational relic among the seven synagogues in the vicinity. Although the Kadavumbhagam Synagogue (1544 A.D) and Thekkumbhagam Synagogue (1647 A.D) are older, they are no longer in use. The Paradesi Synagogue complex, comprising four buildings, shares a common wall with the Mattancherry Palace temple, emphasizing its historical and cultural significance.
The synagogue's history is intertwined with the Malabari Jews, a prosperous trading community controlling a significant portion of the global spice trade. The Paradesi Synagogue, constructed adjacent to the Mattancherry Palace in 1568, replaced the original Cochin synagogue destroyed during the Portuguese persecution in the 16th century. The present synagogue, protected by the Raja of Kochi, became a place of worship for the Sephardim and later European exiled Jews.
Visitors to this architectural marvel are greeted with a serene and beautifully maintained place. A nominal entry fee of 10 rupees is required to explore the rich history, intricate architecture, and cultural significance encapsulated within the Paradesi Synagogue. This historic gem stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of the Jewish community in Kochi.

Purportedly the oldest synagogue in the commonwealth. Points to the ancient history of Judaism in Kerala - which is well illustrated by a few paintings in a small room adjoining the main entrance to the synagogue complex.
Definitely worth a visit and paying the Rs 10 entry fee.

This a small synagogue built by the jews who lived here many years ago. On entering the compund, you can buy a ticket to visit the synagogue. Before the synagogue there is a small room showing the history of jews in Fort Kochi. Then you enter the synagogue.
A synagogue is a religious place for jews. They dont have a big idol of Christ. They have a podium kind of structure from where they give sermons. But since nobody visits the synagogue anymore, it is non-functional and open to visitors. The floor work, the ceilings everything was beautiful. Being there made me a little sad.

Visiting the Paradesi Synagogue in Fort Kochi was a highlight of my trip to Kochi. Built in 1568, it's a stunning example of the region's multicultural heritage. The intricate Chinese hand-painted tiles and Belgian chandeliers are breathtaking. The adjacent Jewish museum is also worth a visit, with displays of Jewish history in Kerala. It's a peaceful and serene place, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in history, architecture, or religious diversity.

Very good place to visit for a peace of mind.
The street which takes you inside to the Jewish synagogue is awesome with all Jewish style and painting to the walls. I have even updated pics in post check them out.
The highlight is the old click which still runs.
Inside we can see about there history and many other equipments brought by Jews way back old.
The shops outside are bit expensive as they are targeted to touristers.

Good tourist place in kochi. Entry ticket Rs 10 per person. It's the worship place of Jews in kochi. Parking has to be done in Mattancherry palace compound which is around 500 meters away by walk.

Must visit if you are in Kochi. Please avoid going on Saturday as it is closed. The place has a good vibe to it and you will enjoy. Post the synagogue you can visit the nearby shops for souvenirs, refreshments, local spices etc. there are other options nearby for food if your preference. Recommended!

We meandered through the charming byways of Jew Town to arrive at the Paradesi Synagogue, an architectural gem steeped in history. The interior is a testament to its uniqueness, evoking a profound sense of time's passage.
Visiting hours are from 10 am to 6 pm, Monday through Thursday, offering ample time to immerse oneself in its rich heritage. However, on Fridays, the window narrows to 10 am to 2 pm, and regrettably, it remains closed on Saturdays.
Photography is graciously permitted within its hallowed halls, with the gentle reminder that flash photography and camera stands are regrettably not allowed, preserving the sanctity of this sacred space.
A nominal entry fee of Rs 10 per person unlocks the doors to this historical treasure trove, ensuring a memorable journey through time and culture.

When visiting Fort Kochi in South India, be sure to take in the mesmerizing sight of the Chinese Fishing Nets. These iconic nets, suspended from tall bamboo frames, have been a symbol of Kerala's colonial legacy for over 500 years. They are particularly captivating against the backdrop of the setting sun and are a popular subject for photographs and postcards.
This is a unique place in cochin beside the Arabian sea where you will find fisherman catch fish and sells hear or nearby market. Now a days it becomes a tourist activity where they will explain the activity and you got chance to fishing with them. They will show you how in older days they manually use the net. Now a days motor is used for the operation . In return of your experience they ask tip.

Nice to visit, especially early in the morning when the fishermen are out with their boats or just fishing with nets from the shore. The fresh fish gets sold on the spot, some stands will even make a dish out of it for you. Its also a nice walk on the shore.

The Chinese Fishing Nets at Fort Kochi is a must visit attraction in Kerala. These are fixed land installations, used for fishing in a unique method. These nets are fixed on bamboo and teak poles holding it horizontally by huge mechanisms so as to pull them down into the sea. These nets are weighed by large stones tied to ropes.
Operated by a team of six fishermen, the height of the Chinese fishing nets is around 10 meters, each sprawling to 20 meters over the water body. Each net has a fixed operating depth and due to this a net cannot be repeatedly worked in tidal waters. There are different fishing nets for operation which are based on the state of the tide.

Nice place to take photos and it looks beautiful in photos.
Best photos are not from the fishing net platform, but from a distance so you may avoid walking on the platform which you need to pay up after the visit.
When you visit, there would be some not so clean area, and smell of fish being sold may not be appealing to people who are not used to and vegetarian kind.

I recently visited the Chinese fishing nets in Fort Kochi and was struck by the beautiful views and historic atmosphere. The fishing nets themselves were an interesting and unique sight to see, and it was fascinating to watch the fishermen at work.
However, I was disappointed to see that the area was not as clean as I would have liked. There was a significant amount of litter and debris scattered throughout the area, which detracted from the overall beauty of the place.
Overall, while the Chinese fishing nets in Fort Kochi are a beautiful and historic attraction, I would recommend taking steps to ensure that the area is kept clean in order to fully enjoy the experience.

The Chinese Fishing Nets in Fort Kochi are a must-see for any visitor to Kerala. These massive nets, which are suspended from tall bamboo frames and are lowered into the water by hand. The fishermen then use a pulley system to raise the nets, which are often filled with fish. It is a fascinating sight to see and a great way to learn about traditional fishing methods.
In addition to being a fascinating example of traditional fishing, the Chinese Fishing Nets also offer stunning views of the surrounding area. From here, you can see the bustling port of Kochi, as well as the many ships ⛴️ and boats that ply the waters of the Arabian Sea🌊.
The Chinese Fishing Nets are a great place to spend an afternoon 🌅. They are free to visit, and there are plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby where you can enjoy a delicious meal.
Here are some of the things you can do at the Chinese Fishing Nets:
Watch the fishermen operate the nets 🎣
Take photos of the nets and the surrounding area
Learn about the history of the nets
I highly recommend visiting the Chinese Fishing Nets if you are in Fort Kochi. They are a fascinating and beautiful sight.

There are around 10-12 Chinese Fishing Nets on the Walkway. But the place is not very clean and to go and see from near you have to shed some bucks.
The Nets are raised and lowered depending on the tides and later the catch is put for Auction and we can buy from there if you want.
But overall the place has to be raised to next level to meet the standard and keep it tidy and clean , as this is the face of Fort Kochi and one of the iconic spots on the island.

An interesting way of fishing which I had never seen before anywhere.
Also you have a lot of souvenir shops all along the beach.
Though this beach means business and it’s not at all for bathing etc as it’s quite smelly and dirty.

December 2023:
Really dirty area. Needs to be maintained better... And be aware that the fishermen will allow you to come onto their net platforms very willingly, but then they will be extremely angry if you don't give them a hefty payment/baksheesh for it. Better stay off the fishing-net platforms if you don't want to part with money over it!

It could be a stunning place but its a rubbish dip 😭😭😭.
Certainly an interesting place regarding the history but a shame that they don't look after it. You get some nice views from the beach when you pass piles of rubbish and fishing boats.
The Chinese fishing nets are believed to have been introduced in Kochi by Chinese explorer Zheng He, from the court of the Kubla Khan. The fishing net established itself on the Kochi shores between 1350 and 1450 AD.

It is near the fort kochi beach. These fishing nets are in back waters. It is bit crowded in evening. Visit in mornings to know working and to avoid crowds. But evening you can enjoy sunsets.
These are said to be introduced in Kochi by Chinese explorer Zheng He, from the court of the Kubla Khan. The fishing net established itself on the Kochi shores between 1350 and 1450 AD.
Each fishing net is operated by more than four fishermen and is made in such a way that the weight of a man walking on the main plank is enough to cause the equipment to be pulled down into the sea.

The Kerala Kathakali Centre, established in 1990 in Kochi, is dedicated to promoting and preserving the traditional arts of Kerala. The center showcases masked Kathakali dance performances and martial arts demonstrations, aiming to elevate the standards of training and performances through rigorous discipline. Additionally, it encourages various traditional arts and rituals. Visitors can witness daily Kathakali shows with makeup demonstrations beforehand, as well as Indian classical music performances in the evenings.
It does not get more authentic than this. An absolute must visit when in Cochin. A unique art form from Kerala region that gets explained quite well, together with a short show. You will only appreciate this art form even more.

What can I really say about the performance!! Since make up session till the end I just sit tight at one place. The theatre hall, the ambience, the decoration, the music, the dance... Each and everything was so perfect. The elaborate discussion on make up ingredients and characterizations was so informative. I enjoyed, actually overjoyed while watching such a performance by the artists. It was awesome. This performance should be a must watching item while planning the Kerala trip.

Most reviews here seem to be about kathakali. But I want to add a note that the classical indian music performances are also incredible! Top tear artists from around south India performing beautiful raga improvisations, every night except Saturdays 8-9pm. Experience the captivating Kathakali dance, a traditional art form from Kerala, India. Its distinctive facial expressions and movements are truly mesmerizing, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Kerala. The traditional makeup, crafted from coconut and natural pigments, adds to the allure of the performance.
The storyline, narrated through the graceful movements, revolves around a king expressing his emotions through a golden swan. The first act unveils the tale of the king and the swan, while the latter part delves into the king's affection for a woman, all depicted through captivating expressions, gestures, and movements. It's a delightful spectacle where emotions come alive through the art of storytelling. Satisfaction guaranteed!

This place was easily the highlight of our 3-day stay in Fort Kochi. We visited it on all 3 days, attending the South Indian classical music, North Indian classical music, Kathakali, Odissi dance and Kalaripayattu martial art performances. Every single performance was simply outstanding. Huge respect for all performers and for Mr. Sujeendran, who comperes for the whole set of performances as well as lends his voice to the Kathakali performance.
The performances are held 365 days a year. While the Kathakali performance was houseful, the classical music performances sadly had very low attendance. Despite there being only 3 members in the audience, the performers performed just as they would for a houseful attendance - a clear sign of love for their art.
The set-up is a rather non-descript building that is not obvious from outside, but is actually quite a big auditorium on the inside.
I would strongly recommend attending all 5 performances on different days, and supporting the center and the preservation of these wonderful forms of Indian art.

From outside its easy to miss this spot. You have to walk through some narrow and dark lanes to reach the auditorium.
The artists showcase the entire makeup process, followed by a small skit. The audi and stage have a very ancient vibe, keeping true to the original art.
Tip - While booking, insist on seats ahead. For some reason when we went all foreigners were allotted seats in the front and locals were seated at the back.
Cost - Rs.500 per ticket

Located in proximity to all tourist attractions, schedule 2 hours in the evening specifically for this place. Trust me you will not regret it.
At a very affordable price, you will get to experience the beautiful artform of Kathakali, it starts off with a demonstration of how the performers apply the unique make up, the various expressions and steps in Kathakali followed by a performance of a mythological story. I was enthralled and left speechless by the end of the performance.
This is followed by a brilliant performance of Kerala Martial arts, how they train and apply their skills.
