Kozhikod Beach is Good beach and always busy in the evening because of street foods and refreshments.
Beach usually brings back wonderful memories for me, however these days it's crowded, hard to get parking, and families are gathering here fearlessly late at night.
Tea Snacks Kallumakkaya Original You’ll find Here .Pickles and sweet-and-sour crushed ice are well-known here, and the street food from the coastal area is excellent.

Kozhikode Beach is a popular hangout spot for us locals. The sea breeze, sound of waves, and food stalls nearby make it perfect for a chill day out. The sunset views are pretty awesome too. Sometimes it gets crowded, a must go-to place for a relaxed time by the sea.
Sajeer — Google review
The best beach in Kerala. Lengthier, the largest and most hygienic beach, has lots of resting areas, good restaurants nearby, a lot of local foods, public toilets, etc. This makes Calicut beach far better than any other. It's hard to find clean beaches nowadays. I'm not sure how long it will remain like this, but now it is. Families, kids, friends, everyone can spend time here.
I suggest going after 5 p.m., as during this time the shops and street vendors are active. There is not much space for parking if it's very crowded. There are a few pay-and-park facilities nearby, but I'm not sure if we have to prebook them. I recommend everyone visit here if they ever visit Calicut.

Kozhikode Beach is really nice compared to other beaches in Kerala. It has a straight section of beach for public to relax and enjoy the evening.
Cleaning is challenge but it is considered ok as per Kerala standards. Lack of sewage treatment and dumping untreated raw sewage to the sea is really disgusting. The staunch smell is unacceptable.
Well, that is your God's own Kerala for you!

Beaches are constantly changing. Waves and weather can change beaches every day, bring new things and take others.
You can’t visit the beach without visiting the sand, too! It’s so closely entwined with vacation vocabulary that you’ll often hear phrases like “getting the sand between your toes” to mean “visiting the beach. It mesmerizes the eyes to gaze at the beautiful creatures that hover all over the beach and on the deep-sea waters. Large crowds are observed all over.

Kozhikode Beach, also known as Calicut Beach, is a picturesque destination along the Malabar Coast in Kerala, India. Kozhikode Beach is a serene and beautiful stretch of coastline that offers a relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. It’s the perfect spot for a leisurely stroll or to simply unwind and enjoy the breathtaking sunset views. The beach required more clean, making it ideal for picnics and sunbathing. Many local snacks can try from the nearby stalls. However, swimming not allowed and parking is difficult weekends and evening. Kappad, also known as Kappakadavu, is a village situated in the Kozhikode district of Kerala, India. It boasts a beautiful beach that attracts visitors from far and wide. The government has erected a stone monument at the site to commemorate Vasco da Gama's landing in the year 1498. The inscription on the monument reads 'Vasco da Gama landed here, Kappakadavu.
Soochipara Waterfalls is a magnificent 3-tiered waterfall that offers a refreshing pool at the base for swimming. It can be reached by taking a 10 to15-minute forest hike, which entails walking on a trail consisting of downhill, uphill and stairs that may prove challenging for older visitors but not insurmountable. Visitors should note that there are only free parking spaces available at the top; two other parking spots charge $40 each.
This place is so amazing and silent. After a nice walk through forest, we will reach the the waterfall which is located in between some huge rock formations. The best time to visit is morning. Because, we can avoid rush at that time and can feel the place better. Ticket price is ₹59 for adult. What a beautiful place to be. Wayanad is a precious gem 💎
Muhammed Wafi — Google review
A wonderful waterfall in Waynad in the midst of the forest. The best part of this fall is a pool at the bottom of the fall where one can literally take a bath right under the fall and play in the pool as well.
Excellent place for kids and adults to enjoy and have unlimited fun.
The fall can be reached by walking for about a kilometre downhill in the forest. The last patch of the journey near the fall is rough and could be challenging for kids and senior citizens.
En route there are beautiful tea gardens and a couple of zip lines as well.

Looking to escape the chaos of city life? Waterfalls is the place to be! It's a fantastic spot to unwind and recharge your batteries. But fair warning, getting there can be a bit of a hassle.
First, you'll have to wait in a long line to get your tickets. They only allow 1200 people in per day, so it gets crowded. Once you've got your ticket, you'll need to walk about 1 kilometer to reach the falls. And then there are some stairs you'll have to go down.
But trust me, it's all worth it when you finally arrive. The place is absolutely stunning, and the view is breathtaking. You'll be able to enjoy the natural beauty and feel completely at peace.
Sure, it might take some effort to get there, but the tranquility and serenity make it all worthwhile. So, if you're in need of a break from the busy city, don't hesitate to visit the waterfalls. You won't regret it!
Sara Ahmedi — Google review
It is like without effort you would not get anything. To see the waterfalls, park your car, vehical and then get ready to walk 2+ Km. Climbing down to see the waterfall is somewhat easy, but climbing back up takes a lot of energy. But the Soochipara Falls is very good when there is a lot of water. You can go down and enjoy the water. Remember to wear shoes as it's gets slippery when it rains.

Well maintained waterfall I have seen. Chargeable tickets , check point before you start the trek . No eatables are allowed at all so please plan accordingly. However before the starting point shops are there.
Maintain silence and stay in group as same is surrounded with thick forest. Try to 1-2 things in hand as walking is more specially returning trip is more tiring.
Separate changing rooms are there.
You will enjoy every single minute in enjoying this beauty of waterfall.
Must visit place .
Best one to spend time with your buddies and family. Calm and clean environment. You need to take the ticket and there is a limit of 1200 tickets per day. It's just 1 to 1.5 km walk to reach the waterfalls and there won't be any shops to purchase water bottles once you enter from the ticket counter. It's better you carry a water bottle and need to bring it back and show it to the security.

Amazing waterfall in Wayanad district of Kerala. Surrounded by forest.
Car parking at ground level.
One has to walk till ticket counter.
On the way, one can have good Tea, Coffee and Snacks.
After having tickets, one has to trek 2-3 kms on plain Rocky marbles' path.
Take precautions while walking as it is not smooth.
Surrounding forest is so beautiful.
On reaching the waterfall, it was very mesmerizing and eye-catching experience.
The sound of falling water was so good to hear.
We enjoyed the waterfall very much and had good pics for memories too.

One of the best waterfalls I've seen. Important things you should know :
1) Free parking is there only at the top. Before that you'll see 2 parking spaces. But they'll charge ₹40.
2) only 1200 people are allowed to visit per day.
3) The ticket is ₹59 as of today.
4) You have to walk around 700-800meters to reach the fall. The trail is a mix of down hill, uphill and stairs. It might be hard for older people but not impossible.
5) Try to visit on weekdays to avoid the crowd.
Abu Taha — Google review
The falls was maintained hood and clean with the safety measures and the water was too hood while we visited and the walking distance also less and they have gaurds for the safety purpose and the ticket price also reasonable and they allow only 1200 person a day. So if you arrive early you can enjoy more there.

You are not allowed to goo near the waterfall or water. There is a barricade placed and authority present.
Overall a decent places.
Parking is ₹50/- and entry fees is ₹65/- per person.
There is a trek of 40-50 min to reach the place. Keep in mind to not litter the place.
You will get food places at the entry and buy souvenir and other things.

The water was really chilly. I had a great head bath. The places were kept very clean. To reach these waterfalls, you'll need to trek for around 1.5 kilometers. There is no food counter near the waterfalls, so make plans accordingly. The changing room is available at half of the water falls. After bathing, you need to walk a little distance to change your dress. Rocks are quite slippery, so walk carefully. There are plenty of parking places available. It is highly recommended that you visit these places.

Great place to take a dip in fresh water. The view is also good. It would be better to visit during working days as the place would be much less crowded. And make sure you are ready to walk a lot. The climb back up after visiting the falls can be quite the task.

Beautiful waterfalls. There is a 1 km trek from the starting point down to the falls. No food items are allowed (will be taken out during checking at the entrance). Do get into the water and enjoy the fresh water bathing near falls. They have changing rooms as well for men and women seperately. Very clean and well maintained place.

Best best best! We were late coz of rains but the view , the water ,the falls were at it's best. Wish we were a bit early to enjoy the falls more but the trek was fun and also worth the time.

One of the best secluded waterfall in wayanad. To reach you have to walk and climb down around 2-3 km , the path is very slippery and need to pass through the forest which is quite mesmerizing . The view at falls is breathtaking . But as we visited the falls during the weekend it was jam packed .
surya cu — Google review
If you are visiting Wayanad, be sure to check out Soochipara Waterfalls! This well-maintained waterfall is a short 1 km downhill walk along a stone path from the parking lot.
Only 1200 visitors are allowed per day, so it's best to start early. Be careful near the falls, as the rocks can be slippery. The path is well-maintained, but it can be a little hard on the knees on the way back, as it is uphill the entire way.

Heard abt this falls and thought we could try this spot . It was fun actually. We had to walk like one kilometer to the falls which was seriously hard cause it was like ups and down . When we reached the falls it was a relief and worth . Unfortunately the falls was closed for straight bath and fun cause of huge waterfall . But the water shattering through the air made us wet and we got down little in water and enjoyed . It was cold and felt energetic. Will recommend this for people who are interested in walking much cause it’s like almost kind of trekking to me .

One of the most beautiful waterfall in Wayanad. Though weekends were crowded. They allow only 1200 people in a day. There is a small trek down to visit the foot of the waterfall.
Beware- ROCKS ARE SLIPPERY
One can take a bath and enjoy the calmness of the surrounding.water is clean and cold. A perfect place to visit with family and friends to enjoy a day out.

This was a very fun experience. The waterfall is so much fun but you have to walk quite a few minutes to reach here. The walking makes you so tired but once you reach the waterfall you'll understand that it was all worth it. But beware of leeches all throughout the path. We enjoyed it so much in the falls. The water was so cold and chill.
And don't forget to keep all your belongings in the car itself as you don't want them to be in the water with you. Carry less and enjoy the waterfall experience to the fullest.
There are plenty of places to shop for souvenirs and many things inside and there is a giant swing as well.
Plenty of parking available and please make sure that you reach before the closing time so that you can get more time in the water.

A small waterfall, which you can visit if you are in wayanad. Not too different from other waterfalls and height is also not that much.
The pathway to reach the waterfall is quite steep and has lots of stairs as well, so it's like a very small trek.
Snacks or any food item isn't allowed.

Amazing waterfall experience after 1.5kms Trek through forest having stones laid way and steep steps down to the waterfall. Changing rooms available in approximate distance from falls where people could change before/after perfect time in water. Bit slippery so be very careful.
Crowded in weekends as well as they close by 5pm and limit the visitors on a day!

One of the highly visited place in wayanad. It is a waterfall with a good enough hieght, where people can bath, take pictures and play with the water. The water level is shallow making it ideal for all the age group. The entry ticket for this place is Rs. 65 and is not recommended on long weekends due to the high crowd. One can plan the visit here for bath, after which theycan go for zip lining and sky cycling during the time of return. It is give 4 star just becaus3 of high crowd, which resulted in a poor management of drinking water availability during the downhill trek to the waterfall.

This is a good place to mini trek till the waterfall. But you gotta be careful of leeches as I was bitten by 2 of them hence do not wear slippers. Choose shoes instead. Overall it was not very crowded which was good and the whole area was really clean and well maintained!
Chembra Peak, situated in the Wayanad hills, rises almost 7,000 ft. above sea level and boasts a heart-shaped lake and hiking trails. Visitors are charged an entry fee of approximately 20 INR for Indians, 30 INR for foreigners, and 15 INR for students. The peak is open from around 7 AM to 5 PM every day of the week.
Chembra hill situated at Wayanad stands 2100 m above sea level, it is the highest peak in Wayanad district and is one of the best trekking spots. The mountain and the surrounding area is lush green and a treat to nature lovers. I love trekking and this was one of my favourite for many reasons. Hiked the mountain few years back with my father, a sudden decision to travel to Wayanad and on our way we did not know if we could even go up the beautiful mountain. Dad and I haven't hiked together since and so it makes it special. The mountain has exotic and rare species of flora and fauna and tall grass all the way up on the trail. The climb to the top is with the help of guides and since they are from the area, they guided us to the top safely. There weren't many people when we hiked, so it was peaceful and the guides were free to show us around. They showed us the whole of Wayanad from the top and it was mesmerising and beautiful. There is a bit of off roading at first to reach the office where the entry fee has to be paid and to the parking area. There is no road as such and the path has rocks all over, so make sure you drive slow and not damage your vehicle. I am not sure if the road is better now! After you reach the parking area, you need to walk for 15-20 minutes through a tea estate to reach the foothill where the climb begins. The walk is really beautiful and a treat for photographers and nature lovers. Once you reach the foothill, there is a two storey watch tower, with a decent view. From this point we are assigned to a guide and we start the climb. It is a good climb to the top and best way to the top is not to rush yourself, keep a steady pace with frequent breaks. All they way to the top you will see natural springs and do make sure you take water with you and more importantly don't throw plastic bottles that you carry. It is a non smoking area, since forest fires are very common, please avoid smoking. As you start climbing to the top, the view gets better and better. The best spot up top is the heart shaped pond which is one of a kind. Even though we are allowed to hike to the top of chembra, we do not really go to the top most point. We are only allowed to climb up to certain point and you can see that the top point of the chembra peak is even further up and is inaccessible to people as it is dangerous. Near to the lake we spotted an animal skulls too, you can see it in the pictures uploaded. We were told that the pond was used by animals. Even though we forgot to carry water, the guides got us water from a natural stream and it was the best water I ever had. We were asked not to follow the guides to the stream as the path was dangerous and they din't want people to go there. Had a great time with dad, made few new friends and after few hours of peaceful time with nature, enjoying the cool breeze and a few snaps from top we slowly trekked down the mountain and drove back home.

We had an amazing time here! The trekking is not easy, I would say that it is moderate. The place was very clean, no trash along the way. The charges for trekking were ₹1770 for 10 people. That amount is fixed for any number of people upto 10. You will not find any food stalls after this point. Opening time is 7AM. You can also visit the sightseeing point, which is ₹25 and not really tough to reach.

This is a super place!!!!! Very beautiful and green. There is a difficult trek (esp in monsoon season) that can easily take 3 hours.
On crowded days, you really have to plan well for visiting this place. The forest office only allows the first 200 people to visit. They start distributing the token at 5 am and the ticket counter opens at 7. We reached the place at 6 in the morning and could not do the trekking. The next day we reached the place at 3.30am, and we were still 34th in the number. At first, we were doubting if it is really worth waking up so early and going through the struggle to get the ticket, but when we started the trek, it was WORTH IT!!
The lake is very very beautiful and the views are breathtaking. It is so green, so wonderful that you would want to stay there for a long long time. My heart literally lost in the beauty of this place! You could enjoy nature and peace to the fullest here.
Make sure to get back to the base by 3pm though. Also, don't throw any waste into this place, keep it clean to preserve it for ages. They keep a security deposit for every water bottle that you carry with you. There are no food stalls on the way once you start the trek, so carry some light weight snacks with you.
And yes, beware of leeches in the monsoon season. Wear trekking shoes for a comfortable trek.

Reach the place by 5.00 AM IST buy the tickets by 6.00 AM and @ by 7.00... gates are open....No plastic bottles are allowed and one has to pay a fee of 50 INR per bottle which is refundable if returned after the trek.

Not an easy trek, moderate trek. Timings are strict starts morning 7.0 am, ends by 1.0 pm
Only limited number of people allowed per day, 200 people max. Tickets starts at 6.0 am morning, First come first serve basis, plastic bottles you have to pay deposit of 50 rupees each, to take plastic bottles with you, they will paste sticker on it and you have to return after completion of trek which is so good, this is reason no plastic found on hill. Hill view is amazing, worth the trek once you reach top. Lake is cool. Good thing is gaurds are there at specific checkposts while trekking, rules are strict that you will explore only the path not the other areas of hill. Overall experience is very good. Small kids, Above 50 years age it's very difficult to trek. If you come in groups it will be nice, amount is for 10 people it's 1770 rupees.

The peak is visible from almost all parts of Wayanad.
On the way to this peak, you can sight a heart shaped lake, which is said to have never dried up. It is one of the topmost attractions of this peak.
Very nice experience..

I went trekking to Chembra Peak in Wayanad with my cousins, and it was a fantastic experience. According to the existing rules, only 200 people per day are allowed to enter the forest area for trekking. The ticket cost was comparatively low, and we paid 1700 rupees for five people. They provide tokens to grant tickets starting at 6 AM, with ticket distribution beginning at 7 AM. The forest basement area opens at 7 AM, provided the paths are clear and there are no dangerous conditions like the presence of wild animals, heavy rains etc. We were the first ones to collect the tickets at this time, and we were on time.
Before starting the trek, you can have light snacks from nearby eateries, such as maggi, bread and omelets. There are no snack shops inside the trekking forest, and the area is strictly monitored by forest guards.
There is also a public toilet near the ticket counter that we can use before starting the trek. Inside the forest, there are small water streams that feel very refreshing.
Once we reach the trekking base point, there is a stairway leading to a building with a breathtaking view of the surrounding nature.
During our trek, we encountered a delay as wild elephants blocked our path. We had to wait until the path was clear. There were forest guards stationed at intervals to ensure the safety and count of trekkers. The forest was serene, and the climate was not too hot. Freshwater streams within the forest provided a source of clean drinking water.
The trekking paths were covered with forest grass and rocks, which could be slippery at times. It usually takes 40 to 60 minutes to cover the one-way distance for regular trekkers, but it took us nearly 1 hour and 35 minutes. We met different people along the way, and their supportive and helpful attitude was heartwarming.
Upon reaching the peak, the view was breathtaking. The Chembra Peak welcomed us with a heart-shaped lake, which was truly wonderful. The various shades of clouds and mountain views added to the beauty of the landscape, making us feel refreshed and excited. Chembra Peak is undoubtedly a must-visit destination at least once in a lifetime.
At the top, we also had the pleasure of meeting a family celebrating their child's second birthday with cakes and chocolates, which added to the joy of our experience.

It is a 3km hike. Best time to visit is during the winter months. You can literally be surrounded by clouds. The hike difficulty is moderate-high. The only downside is that the tickets to the place is super exclusive. Only 200 people a day are allowed. Rs. 1760 for a group of 5 plus Rs. 236 for every additional person. The view from the top is breathtaking, the unique part of the treck the lake at the top which is shaped like a heart.
If you are planning to hike this place, please reach the ticket counter by 1:30 to reserve your tickets.

There are monkeys around this point, so keep your belongings safe & don’t feed the monkeys.
There is no proper parking spot here. It’s just along the main road which is very busy. It’s not very safe for kids or elders.
Since this is a famous spot, visiting amenities should be made available for the tourists.

Amazing panoramic views!
The viewpoint offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The scenery is simply stunning, with rolling hills, lush greenery, and a clear blue sky. It's a perfect spot for nature lovers and photography enthusiasts. The viewpoint is easily accessible and well-maintained, with benches and information boards providing interesting facts about the area. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a serene and picturesque experience.
And spectacular sunrise spot!
This viewpoint is a gem for sunset lovers. As the sun starts to set, the sky transforms into a vibrant canvas of colors, casting a warm glow over the landscape. It's a magical sight to behold. The viewpoint is located at an elevated position, allowing for unobstructed views. However, it can get quite crowded during peak hours, so arriving early is recommended. Don't forget to bring your camera and capture the breathtaking sunset!
While this viewpoint may not offer the most extraordinary views, it still has its charm. The location provides a decent vantage point to appreciate the surrounding scenery, which includes a mix of mountains and a nearby lake.
The viewpoint is easily accessible, and there's ample parking available. However, there aren't many amenities or facilities in the area so short visit or a quick photo opportunity.

This is one of the picturesque views 🌄 that you can relish while driving along the Coorg-Wayanad road 🛣️ trip. To fully appreciate this breathtaking ❤️ scenery, there's no need for trekking🚶/trails/🧗 climbing; you simply have to locate a suitable spot to park 🅿️ your vehicle 🚗 and step out to savor the view.
There are no entry fees ⛔ or anything of the sort; just remain cautious of other vehicles 🚜 on the road. You can comfortably sit 🪑 and capture numerous photos 📸 of the mountains 🏔️, nature 🌲, clouds ☁️, and more. The ideal times to visit are either at sunrise 🌄 or sunset 🌇. Additionally, you might encounter some monkeys 🐒 here, known for their curiosity and potential to snatch food 🍔 or items like glasses, mobile 📱, etc., so be aware of the same
This spot is a must-visit, requiring minimal time and effort, making it a highly recommended experience.

We parked the car at road side as there is no parking available. There are lots of monkeys here, one of them took our juice box and helped himself. 😄

During my recent visit to Wayanad, I had the opportunity to visit the stunning Lakkidi View Point. Situated amidst the lush green hills of Kerala, this viewpoint offers a mesmerizing panorama.
One of the highlights of Lakkidi View Point is the panoramic view of the hairpin bends on the road leading to Wayanad. It was a sight to behold as vehicles maneuvered through the curves, creating a captivating spectacle against the backdrop of the hills.
The only minor drawback was the limited amenities available at the viewpoint. There were no food or refreshment stalls, so it's advisable to carry snacks and water for a more comfortable experience.

It has an entry fee of around 20 INR for adults, with visiting hours from 9 AM to 5 PM every day of the week. The lake is beautiful, though not as maintained but it's in a valley surrounded by the mountains and so the view is mesmerizing. I'd not suggest going here on a weekend as it is very crowded and you won't get to do boating. You can roam around the lake and take in fresh air. Be aware of monkeys as it's a jungle region sorts. They also have stalls but a little overpriced ones.

Pookede lake was near where we stay. So first we visited this lake and it was not weekends unfortunately so it was not crowded much. The ambience was peaceful you can roam around if you don't want to go boating.
Sakshi Jain — Google review
I recently visited this lake and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. The place offers a nice ambiance with a good view, making it perfect for spending quality time with friends or family. However, I would suggest avoiding weekends as it tends to get too crowded, which can detract from the overall tranquility of the place.
One of the advantages of this lake is that there are plenty of options for food and shopping nearby. So, if you're in the mood for a snack or want to browse through some local items, you won't have to venture far.
Additionally, the lake offers boat rides, which is a great way to explore the surroundings and add some excitement to your visit. It's important to note that the last boat ride usually departs at 5 pm, so make sure you arrive before then to take full advantage of this activity.
If you prefer a leisurely stroll, you'll be delighted to know that there are paths around the lake that allow you to take in the scenery at your own pace. Furthermore, there are designated seating areas where you can relax and enjoy the view.
One thing to keep in mind is that the lake closes at 6 pm, so plan your visit accordingly to ensure you have enough time to fully enjoy the experience.
In conclusion, despite the weekend crowds, the lake is still a nice place to visit, offering a good view and ample opportunities to spend quality time. With nearby food and shopping options, boat rides, walking paths, and seating areas, it caters to various preferences. Just be mindful of the 5 pm cut-off time for boat rides and the 6 pm closing time of the lake

A beautiful waterfall for swim and to spend time with family, weekend are crowded, it’s better going on working days if you are going with family, we can enjoy beautiful tea farm as well while walking toward the waterfall. 50₹ per head.

An exquisite and breathtaking waterfall in the area where you are allowed to bathe. Maintained really well by the forest department. We had a great time overall. The falls is located almost 40 km away from the central Wayanad so the travel time to the falls is too long but it's still worth it. A must visit if possible. The entrance fee is only 50 and it's worth it..

A serene and beautiful waterfall in Wayand district. The place is very well maintained with proper directions throughout the way.
Coming to the waterfall, it was the best waterfall I have ever seen. Clean water, beautiful rocks to sit and enjoy nature.
It has a small pool-like structure where you can dive ( be cautious, check for rocks beneath before you go for it) and have a blissful bath. Try to visit early in the morning to avoid crowds. This place gets heavily crowded believe me😅
Cheers guys.!!🤟🏽🍻

Drive-in beach was amazing.
It’s a quite unique experience for tourists.
We can easily drive on the sea shore that four wheelers and two wheelers are allowed. It really gets too crowded getting is space for ourselves to enjoy is quite tough but still you can enjoy. We just need to be careful if we are going with kids as there are some crazy drivers driving around their vehicle like they’re driving on some racetrack.
Definitely worth visiting this place.

One of the most unique experiences while on this beach as it offers drive in. When we went in at 6.30 am when the crowd were only fishermen it was fantastic. Unfortunately sky was hazy and sunrise can't be seen as the beach is in western side of India.
We could watch fishermen take out their planted fishnet which was kept overnight.
I've taken some snaps with bald white headed eagles 🦅 catching their dead preys on the beach!
Great experience!

Asia’s longest driving beach.
There is an entry fee of about ₹30 ( do not remember the exact amount). A perfect place for spinning your car, take some nice pictures and if possible enjoying the sunset as well.

Muzhappilangad is considered to be Asia’s longest drive in beach. It is a very good experience to drive through the sandy coast. The surroundings of the beach are kept clean, but can be improved. It is a great place for enjoying the beach as well as driving. Lots of tourists and locals come here to enjoy, and for picnics. The beach also has a lot of birds, which makes it a great destination for bird watching as well. The place also has good fish landings.
Please remember to drive carefully and responsibly here, as families with small children also visit this beach.

Muzhappilangad Drive-In Beach is a unique and fun experience that is sure to entertain people of all ages. This beach is the only one in Asia where you can drive your car on the sand. The beach is 4 kilometers long and is lined with palm trees. There are also a few restaurants and shops on the beach.
I visited Muzhappilangad Drive-In Beach with my family recently and had a great time. We drove our car along the beach, stopped to take pictures, and even went for a swim in the ocean. The beach was not crowded, and we had plenty of space to spread out.

The Muzhappilangad Beach, also known as drive in beach, is a unique and exhilarating experience for anyone who loves driving or riding on the sand. It is the only drive-in beach in Kerala and one of the longest in Asia, stretching for about 4 km along the Malabar Coast. The beach is clean and well-maintained, with black rocks that protect it from the strong currents of the ocean. The water is clear and inviting, and the sunset is spectacular. There are also many shacks that serve delicious Malabar cuisine along the way.
However, the beach is currently undergoing a makeover, which makes it a bit cluttered and less scenic. The approach road to the beach is narrow and congested, and there are no proper signboards to guide the tourists. It is hoped that the makeover will improve the infrastructure and accessibility of the beach, as well as preserve its natural beauty and charm. This beach is a must-visit destination for anyone who wants to enjoy a thrilling and relaxing drive on the sand.

What sets Muzhappilangad apart from other beaches is its rare feature - it allows visitors to drive along its shores, making it one of the few drive-in beaches in the world.
Stretching for about 4 kilometers, Muzhappilangad Drive-in Beach is renowned for its pristine golden sands, clear blue waters, and gentle waves. The shallow depth of the beach and the gradual slope make it safe for swimming and other water activities.
In addition to driving, visitors can also indulge in various recreational activities such as beach volleyball, sunbathing, and picnicking. The beach is dotted with food stalls offering delicious local delicacies, making it a perfect spot for a day out with family and friends.
Overall, Muzhappilangad Drive-in Beach offers a unique and unforgettable experience, blending adventure, relaxation, and natural beauty in one stunning location.

Beautiful drive in beach in Kerala. There is an entrance fee for Cars and Bikes. You can drive your vehicle through the beach with a speed limit of 20 km/hour. Longest drive in beach. Good views. Good for families and children. While walking through the beach you should be careful about the running vehicles. The best view is from 4.30 pm to 6.15 pm. For people who love beaches, sitting in the sand, playing as the waves come by or just like the wind blowing against you. Now imagine doing that all with your car or bike next to you, driving or riding on the beach. If you would love to do that this is probably the only place for you in the country.
Recently they have added the floating bridge to where people walk on the bridge which is laid into the sea and literally walk over the waves as they come.
We couldn't do these due to high tide alert and the sea being a bit rough when we visited, but definitely coming back to experience these two things soon. Hope the weather remains favourable then.

It’s one of the best drive in beach in India. In fact it is listed in the top 6 Drive in beach of the world by BBC.
I visited this beach in a cloudy weather, enjoyed a lot. This beach is not for bathing. It's a white sand beach. When the sun rays fall on the sand, it's glimpse like Perl. Unfortunately, I got those glimpse just for few minutes as it was cloudy.
However, it's better to visit this beach in the early morning, when the crowd is less. Evening time it's become too crowded. Driving through this beach was an awesome experience.
This beach attracts heavy footfall/ car tire fall during the evening. However, cleanliness of this beach is getting hampered due to irresponsible human behaviours.

Very nice Drive in beach...It is better to go in the morning around 6.00-6.30 AM and you can enjoy taking a ride for a long distance as it is the Asia largest drive-in beach..

To enter the beach you have to cross narrow roads. There is always a chance that any vehicle from opposing direction might come. Difficult for new drivers. Believe me- I am saying from experience of 1.5 lakh km of driving. But once you win that part, you will be at a beach where you can drive your car in the sea and at the shore. This is amazing experience, you need to pay 40 as entry fee and then the whole beach is yours.
Park anywhere on the beach. Apart from driving, many other activities. Floating bridge 120 per person, but children can go free. Kit flying and others. Better time to go is evening when you can enjoy the driving and see sunset.
Amitabh Kishore — Google review
This beach is for your vehicles to enjoy and take a shower and sun bath 😀
Entry ticket is INR 30, you have couple of food trucks thrown away at far distances buts that enough, you are only moving in your vehicles.
The stretch is around 2-4 kms so you can get your dear car stretch her wheels and show you her wild side.
The water is shallow but be careful, don't let that take you to the deep.
There is a floating bridge too for Rs 120 safety jacket charges and be used for maximum of 15 mins.
Make sure your vehicle gets a thorough wash inside out to remove all that sand.
Enjoy some splash and get you car bit dirty....
This place needs more marketing. It has a great potential and can be turned into a mega tourist spot.

Kuruvadweep is a verdant and pristine island located on the banks of river Kabini. It offers seasonal access for leisurely walks, hikes, and bamboo rafting excursions. The island boasts of lush evergreen forests that are home to rare species of birds, orchids, and herbs. Visitors can enjoy the tranquility of nature's beauty while walking through water flowing amidst rocks that lead to other islands separated by rivers.
I was thinking how good its going to be in the beginning after reading about the place in the internet. But after visiting there last week, I felt totally refreshed. It will definitely be worthy if you love nature. Kabini river flows though the island and it's in the jungle you will have to walk in to reach the river flow. The rocks there are slippery, so take care while climbing. There are many forest guards posted nearby for the rescue. Enjoyed the day a lot and the visit here means you will be spending your whole day here so plan wisely on your schedules if you are running out of time. On the way from the Island, there is a tribal museum which is also worth visiting. Must strongly recommend this both places. The staffs are very friendly and they do their works efficiently. Claps for their hardwork🙂👏👏👏

Lemme give a clear description.
Per day the tickets to island are given 575. There are two entry gates you can choose as per your stay and nearest one.
If you want to go to island(on the bamboo raft, they will leave to other side of water)
Reach by 7am to get the tickets and counter will open by 9 am.
1. If you have not been to any nature place like forest, greenary, hill station then it excites you definitely otherwise you don't find anything interesting.
2. The entry fee is 94 rps to island and bamboo rafting is 100 per head
3. After getting entry to island, there will forest and you need to walk for 1km to reach the end destination which is Kabini River.
4. Guards will be there to help you through out the way.
5. You can experience forest feel through the walk and water is not that clean but if you are interested, you can bath also.
6. Dormitory rooms, cloak room and toilets are available. The Snack shops are less but you can get home made chocolate, spices etc.
7. If there is no entry to island after the 575 tickets, go for Bamboo rafting which is worthy.
8. On weekends, the place is very crowded and you don't get tickets easily.
Overall : Good place if you have not seen any forest or greenary places. Can spend atleast half day.

A pure natural place to visit. It has its own beauty in everywhere. Water flowing through the rocks so we can walk through the water and reach the next island. There are many islands are seperated by rivers.
Bamboo river rafting was also there but it is not that much adventures.

Visiting this island was such an amazing experience, and the best part of our Wayanad trip. During peak times, the queue for the ferry to/ fro the island would be huge, hence take the back entrance, and start early in the morning, if you do not want to waste time in the queue.
The island has beautiful waterways, wooden bridges, mangroves, and good spots for bathing. Walking through the wilderness, itself, gives you a great experience. Not suitable to elderly people though.
Simon Thomas — Google review
It's almost 1000 acres of forest land surrounded by the Kabani River. No roads to this island, and it is maintained by the Kerala Forest Department.
As per their own billboards, they claim only 575 persons will be permitted to island daily. Entry is restricted with tickets and they provide bamboo rafter to cross the river.
Walking through the forest island will be a good experience, but during rainy season, they don't operate and no entry for public.
Vinod Lall Aryachalil — Google review
The island is only accessible by boat, which adds to the thrill of the journey. Once you reach the island, you'll be greeted by a lush green forest that's home to a variety of rare and exotic flora and fauna. The trees are so dense that the sunlight barely filters through, creating a cool and soothing atmosphere.
There are several walking trails on the island that take you deep into the forest. You'll come across small streams, waterfalls, and ponds that are perfect for a refreshing dip. The highlight of the island, however, is the bamboo rafting experience. You get to glide along the river on a bamboo raft, taking in the beautiful scenery and spotting some rare birds and animals.
The island is well-maintained and the staff is friendly and helpful. They provide you with all the necessary information and equipment to make your visit comfortable and enjoyable. The only downside is that the island can get a bit crowded during peak tourist season, so it's best to visit early in the morning or during weekdays.
Safeer Shahul — Google review
Average place. Not up to the hype. Entry fee is 110rs for a person. Plastic deposit is 20rs they will give after you return the plastics. I have to wait for a bamboo boat. Then once you get into the island then you have to walk like 1-1.5km on one side to reach the stream.

Will edit review again once explore area today.
New updates:
River drafting is not good, I suggest try banasura Sagar dam, it has speed boat, and different types of boating activities, too famous.
So basically they take you from one side of river to other(small river) and then u need to walk for 2km inside jungle, till you reach at other end of jungle where again river u can see and play in water sometime. Going through jungle is good journey, if ur true nature lover, big trees and locations for photoshoot.

St. Angelo Fort, also known as Kannur Fort, is a significant historical landmark in Kerala that was built by the Portuguese in 1505. With a moat and scenic views of the bay, it holds a special place among the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) maintained sites. It is one of the oldest forts in Kerala and offers a good place to hang out with family and friends, especially during evening time. The fort has decent maintenance but could be improved further for better upkeep.

Summary: A place if restored and maintained properly, could attract many visitors and be a jewel of Kannur
1) As of now, it looks mostly in form of ruins.
2) The chairs arranged like a show could be properly kept clean.
3) Bathrooms have to be maintained properly.
4) some refreshment stalls could add up to the enjoyment part.

Superbly maintained. The view of the sea and shore is beautiful. Suggestion:Need some information boards and direction boards and also more historical facts on plaques at the corresponding point. We had to go back to the entrance and read the whole description and interpret the locations we passed through. Better to have these descriptions in the exact location.

Visited the fort today and was really impressed by the way one could connect with history with such places in the country. The fort in all its magnificence in terms of the infrastructure and location this place played in the history of the country is great to experience, with it being on the shores of the Arabian sea. You'll find many picture perfect spots once inside, so go and explore this place at least once. The ticket were available for Rs. 25 per person on the day we visited, where you also have an option of booking online which is slightly cheaper. Good amount of parking space is available near the fort and clean washrooms and feeding rooms are available inside the premises. I feel the place could have done better with some beatification or landscaping at places where huge chunk of grass grows to enhance it's appeal.

St. Angelo Fort in Kannur is a remarkable historical edifice that stands as a silent witness to the bygone era of colonial dominance in Kerala. Built by the Portuguese in the 16th century, the fort's robust walls and strategic location overlooking the Arabian Sea speak volumes of its past importance. The fort's well-preserved structure offers a journey back in time, with its bastions, lighthouse, and cannons still intact. Visitors can stroll through the fort's grounds, feeling the sea breeze and imagining the stories of sailors and soldiers who once walked the same paths. The fort also provides a panoramic view of the Moppila Bay and Dharmadam Island, making it a photographer's delight. Whether you're a history buff, architecture enthusiast, or simply in search of tranquility, St. Angelo Fort is a must-visit destination that promises a blend of education and visual splendor.

St. Angelo Fort, also called Kannur Fort, is a great place to visit. It's not far from the Railway station or Bus stand, just about 2-3 km away. The entry fee is Rs 25, which is pretty reasonable.
I enjoyed spending time at the fort. It closes at 6 pm, which gave me enough time to look around before heading to Kannur Beach, which is about 2.5 km away. The best part about the fort is the view. Since it's by the sea, you get some really nice views.
If you're into history or just want to see something cool, this fort is worth checking out. It's not fancy, but it's interesting and has a nice atmosphere. Plus, you can catch a beautiful sunset from here. Overall, it's a nice spot to spend some time in Kannur.

It is a charming historical site where you can step back in time to the days of the Portuguese. It's fascinating to explore the old barracks and imagine life for soldiers back then. The views of the sea from the top are simply breathtaking! And a wonderful place to visit, especially if you love history and beautiful scenery.

Nice historic place.
Best time is to go during the evening. The beach view is really nice. It's Portuguese architecture Fort.
You can see good sunset from here.
The place is really big. You need at least of 1 hour to visit the entire Fort properly. It's had So nay ruins also.
I would not suggest to visit during day time if you are visiting during summer. Because it has most of the open spaces and Kerala weather is too hot. So 3 to 4 pm is the best time to visit.

Payyambalam Beach in Kannur is a popular destination known for its wide, tranquil stretch of golden sand and shallow waters. It's a favorite spot for picnics, swimming, and surfing. The beach offers a serene and secluded atmosphere with well-maintained surroundings. Visitors can enjoy breathtaking sunset views over the horizon, creating a mesmerizing spectacle of vibrant hues.
One of the best beach to spend long time with friends or family, shore is very clean. And even the water to. Best place to play.
Even for jogging to. And we have many fast food and food trucks available next the sea walk. And local ppl have converted thier Lands into parking and charge according.
Suggested to look up the sea road end point. Can able to find the packing. As it's a single road. We have one side parking.
Good place to watch the mesmerizing sunset.

One of the cleanest ( nob-blue flag) beaches in India. Luckily this is one of the lesser known tourist destinations hence, it doesn't attract a lot of crowd and the challenges that come with it. The beach is lined up with decent homestays , resorts, cafes and restaurants. There are limited adventure sport options and even camel rides available. You can spend quality time with your family relaxing and enjoying the views of the Arabian sea here.

The Payyambalam Beach is one of the best known beaches in Kannur. Also known as the 'Walking Beach' because of a 4 km long stretch of golden sand for beach walkers. It is what we visited on our first evening in Kannur. A secluded location it is known for providing one with an opportunity to simply relax or even enjoy a family picnic in absolute tranquillity. The beach is a favourite hangout for locals.
The entrance to the beach is a narrow bridge over a small canal and immediately on the right is an area where monuments to commemorate the lives of local political leaders is erected.
A cliff forms a natural barrier on one side atop which is a beach garden which needs maintenance. The beach is not very crowded, but one can always find secluded spots due to the long stretch of sand. Though good for swimming and sunbathing it is not like the beaches of Goa. One may feel comfortable to confine to the local dressing code.
The biggest bug bear of this beach is the lack of parking space. Most park their vehicles on the sides of the narrow road thereby cluttering it. A public parking space exists sightly inside, which is just where we pushed in our vehicle, but yes there is an issue for parking.
Overall a very nice beach and a must visit for anyone who wants some ME time.
The Payyambalam Beach is an impeccably maintained destination in Kannur. A very cool beach but known for the graves of the political & influential leaders. This is the longest beach in Kannur district.
A good walk in beach too
Sandeep K — Google review
You have free street parking on one side, and several paid parking zones.
There are food trucks and kiosks throughout the stretch however, it's the lack of sufficient benches and dust bins make it a turn off, specially in the evenings when it's crowded. Of course that's expected in the evening to serve the whole purpose.
There are no steps between the walk way and the beach, only a slope which is not even friendly for people on wheel chairs.
Need more light poles, bins, benches, possibly better planning for cycle tracks, open air gym equipment, and washroom cabins.
The beach has lot of potential, but authorities should work on better planning and funding.
It's a definitely a great place for your early morning or evening walks but go only if you have time.

It's a really nice beach. Awesome view and well maintained. I went during summer evening to see the sunset view.
Very lively beach with so many fine dine eateries nearby.
Couples and friends can easily spend lively 2-3 hours here.
I stayed after the sunset also. According to me the evening time is the best to visit this beach. But if you want to avoid crowd then I would suggest baby beach, thoddata beach. There are so many other beaches in Kannur which attract quite less footfall till now. But those are the real gem.
One thing I must mention here. Getting a parking at this place is really hectic and a real pain here. The parking thing is mismanaged here. Also due to road side parking the entire road get huge traffic blockage throughout the evening.

Sree Thirunelli Mahavishnu Temple is an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu, situated in the Brahmagiri hills, accessible only to Hindus. The temple is renowned for its intricate architecture consisting of 30 granite columns and surrounded by a holy stream known as Papanasini River that adds to the beauty of the place. Entry fee for adults including Indians and foreigners is approximately 20 INR.
One of the most beautiful temples in Kerala. The route to this place is extremely blessed with natural beauty. If you are lucky, you may spot some wild animals as well.
However, it is not safe to ride through those roads late at night or during early morning. We saw an elephant so close to the road at around 9 pm
NB: Please confirm that the temple is open due to covid related restrictions.

One of the beautiful temple sacred and lots of mystery and divine. Main God Vishnu along with Brahma and Shiva resides inside temple.
Situated at the foot of Brahmagiri Hills. Beautiful scenery and calm place.
It is too far from kalpetta wayanad region, around 1.5 hr journey situated in deep forest routes. Route to this temple is magnificent beautiful forest roads and wild animals will be crossed on road at early morning.
There is Papanasini stream Emanating from the heart of Brahmagiri forest flowing through roots, leaves and flowers of ancient trees and medicinal herbs, Papanasini is a holy mountain stream accessible around 1 km northwest of the temple premises. Pilgrims bathe here as they consider its waters to be sacred with powers to absolve one's sins. Further, the temple offers services to immerse cremation ashes in the sacred mountain stream to be thus carried to Kaveri River and from there to the ocean. This is a part of the last rites.

Adding this review because i had a foreigner ask me what is going on here.
So to start with, this place is also known as the 'kaasi of the south' . Lord Vishnu s temple is currently under renovation. The temple is attached to a river ( papanashini) where the final rituals of passed away loved ones are done. These rituals can then be done on an annual basis.
If u are new around here. You could still do these rituals for your demised loved ones ( they are basically prayers to ask God to help them rest in peace ). It doesn't cost much ( 70Rs) either .

Thirunelli Temple holds a special place in my heart as a nostalgic destination. I've visited this temple numerous times with my family to perform rituals for our ancestors. We would arrange two or three jeeps and set out early in the morning from Nadapuram in Kozhikode district. We'd traverse the Kuttiady Churam (mountain pass) to reach Wayanad and then proceed to Thirunelli Temple.
The journey to the temple offers breathtaking views and passes through dense forests where we often encounter a variety of wildlife, including deer, wild buffalo, monkeys, peacocks, and occasionally even elephants.
Thirunelli Temple, dedicated to Lord Mahavishnu, is nestled amidst the serene Brahmagiri hills and lush green forests, providing a tranquil atmosphere for visitors. It's renowned for its unique rituals and ancient architecture, believed to be the only temple in the world where devotees can perform all life-related rituals, from birth to death and beyond.
According to legend, Lord Brahma installed an idol of Lord Vishnu here, promising that the water surrounding the temple would wash away all sins, giving rise to the Papanashini stream. The temple is also famous for rituals performed on the banks of the Papanashini stream, believed to possess medicinal powers.
The temple premises boast attractions such as the holy rock for praying to forefathers, the cave temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, and the sacred pond, Panchatheertham. Additionally, there are shops offering forest products like honey, as well as restaurants and affordable accommodations nearby.

I visited the fall in April month so i think this is not the right time. The water was narrow and wasn't that attracting at all. You can easily take a bath once you reach the fall and there are changing rooms for men women both so no worries where will you change the clothes. Please wear shoes as it's more comfortable while walking and climbing stairs. It's a very beautiful place for a day outing. Kids can also enjoy. Thera are food stalls outside.

The falls are located in serene surroundings. One needs to walk about 750 meters from the parking lot to reach the falls. The walk includes climbing a few steps intermittently. The falls did not have much water as the season of visit was spring/ early summer, but it was evident that in monsoon season, the water will be abundant. There were not many tourists, it being a time of year-end school exams for children across the country. Overall, a nice, peaceful and enjoyable experience.

This charming waterfall is nestled in the picturesque village 🏘️ of Kutta, located at the Karnataka-Kerala border. Please note that the waterfall closes promptly at 5 PM, and there are vigilant security officials at the entrance who won't permit entry 🚫 beyond that time. There's an admission fee 💰 of approximately Rs. 100-200 per person.
Upon reaching the top, you won't be at the summit of the mountain 🌄 where the waterfall 🌊 originates, but you'll have a close-up view of the waterfall itself. The waterfall is roughly 500-600 meters from the main entrance, requiring a walk to the stairs and a climb 🪜 of around 200-500 steps to reach the top. Families👪 can often be seen enjoying the cascading waters, and it's recommended to ascend to the top for the best views, although some visitors find spots to sit along the way.
At the waterfall's base, before the entrance, you'll find 4-5 small shops 🛍️ where you can grab a snack 🥝 before or after your visit. Additionally, there is a changing room next to the shops, with a nominal fee of around Rs. 10 💵 for changing or Rs. 5 for restroom use. There are changing rooms inside the main gate of the waterfall as well but you may not find them in best condition.
Regarding cleanliness 🧹, the area is relatively clean, although locating a dustbin 🚮 for disposing of waste can be a challenge. Changing rooms are available but may raise concerns about hygiene 🧼, as they are exclusively for women 💃. Safety is a priority, with security 👮 personnel stationed at various points along the path.
At the top, you'll find seating 🪑, benches, and great photo opportunities. The climb is not particularly strenuous, making it suitable for beginners and children. Please note that access to the waterfall's summit may be restricted, but all other seating areas are shallow and safe. This spot is a worthwhile addition to your list of places to visit near Coorg.

The Iruppu Falls located in the Brahmagiri Range in the Kodagu district of Karnataka, India, bordering the Wayanad district of Kerala. It is a fresh water cascade and is situated at a distance of 48 km from Virajpet on the highway to Nagarhole. The falls also known as the Lakshmana Tirtha Falls, derived from the name of the tributary of Cauvery which starts from these falls, the Lakshmana Tirtha River.
f you are a nature lover looking to get away from the city rush, a trip to this waterfall is completely worth it. The lush green surroundings add to the beauty of Iruppu Falls and make it a must-visit. There are metal platforms built right under the falls, so people can walk on it and take a bath right where the falls land. Would recommend Soap/Foam kind of bath though. Just a cool dip would be nice.
A forest trail leads from these falls to the Brahmagiri Peak in Southern Kodagu. Irupu falls is a major tourist attraction as well as a pilgrimage spot. A famous Shiva temple, the Rameshwara Temple is situated on the banks of the Lakshmana Tirtha River, en route to the Falls.
According to popular legend, Rama and Lakshmana, passed along the Bhramagiri range whilst searching for Rama's beloved, Sita. When Rama asked Lakshmana to fetch him drinking water, Lakshmana shot an arrow into the Brahmagiri hills and brought into being the river Lakshmana Tirtha. Due to this legend, the falls is believed to possess the power to cleanse sins and is visited by thousands of devotees on Shivaratri day.
The best time to visit the falls is during the monsoons, when the falls is at full capacity and is a breathtaking sight. Irupu is situated at 48 km from Virajpet, 260 km from Bangalore, 240 km from Mangalore and 120 km from Mysore. The falls can be visited by the highway from Gonikopal to Nagerhole National Park off the Kutta Road after Srimangala.

The falls has a 1 km walk uphill. The view good coz you can enter under the waterfall as of now there are no restriction and the water is clean and fun to hangout with family and friends.

Irupp waterfall is near the tholpetty forest. It's in Karnataka but it's very easily accessible from Kerala. There is a ticket fee to enter the falls. Also there is a 15 minute walk to the waterfalls.
People usually do get into the river for a bath.
There is a change room for girls as well near the waterfalls.
But personally I felt it was a little too crowded as I visited during vacation time also it was an evening. So I didn't feel comfortable going into the river.
But it's a visually appealing atmosphere there.

Origin Of Lakshmana Theertha Or Iruppu Waterfalls As Per Legends. According to legends, Rama and Lakshmana while searching for Sita Devi had visited this place. One of the most popular and must visit falls in Coorg. The falls is located in Brahmagiri forest. The place is far from Madikeri and almost near border of Kerala. There is no public transportation and private transport is recommended. There's an entry fee for the falls. One has to trek nearly a Kilometre to reach the falls from the parking. There are shops to have snacks and juice. Best time is to visit during the end of rainy season and in winter. One can go into the falls and play in water. Comparatively it's safer to get in provided that one will not slip.Totally a must visit place and it's worth visiting

It's a beautiful fall. Water level is less so they allow to get inside pool. There are different levels of fall so you can decide where you want to go. Around 1 km distance from gate till waterfall with some stairs in between. Easily accessible for families and kids. You can also see blue butterflies near to falls.
Entry fees is 50 per person. Parking is available. Eateries are also there but it's over priced. Restrooms, changing room everything is available.
Best time to visit early morning to avoid crowd. If you want to witnesses heavy flow then peak monsoon is the best time to visit.
Big temple, lots of parking space, feel good place, all kinds of basic facilities are available.

Such an awesome , ancient temple to Sri Subramanya . The architectural speciality is its Gajaprishtakara vimana ( shaped like elephant back) and the very lovely wooden bracket sculptures . In the evening , when they light the oil lamps , it is a truly divine atmosphere . The temple pond is a picturesque place , with a very ancient tree nearby . Devotees can feed puffed rice to the fish in the pond .

Payyannur Subramanya temple is dedicated to Subramanya also called as Payyannur Perumal.
The two storeyed sanctum is in the shape of Gajaprishtam [back of an elephant].
This temple has a 6-ft tall idol of Subramanya with a Vel.
Other idols found here are Parashurama, Ganapathy, Sastha, Bhoothathan & Kanya Bhagavathy.
Hundreds of brass lamps are hung around the main temple,
Another interesting feature is its 12 ft tall compound wall constructed in a unique style.
The temple is famous for its pavitra mothiram, a uniquely crafted ring.
Made with gold & holy darbha grass, it is worn after being sanctified at the temple.
Payannur got its name from this famous temple, where Payyan is another name of Subramanya.
It is believed to be constructed by Vishvakarma as per the directions of Parashurama.
This temple, destroyed in the 1700s by Tipu Sultan of Mysore was rebuilt in 1792.
There is a huge step well filled with many fishes. Feeding the fish is considered auspicious.
Aradhana Mahotsavam is a 14 day festival in which the idol is carried by the priest instead of using elephants, accompanied by the traditional musical instruments.

A must visit temple of subramanya. Well maintained. A best example of gajaprshta type of construction in temples. The dwindled populace of Brahmin community is indeed a point to ponder. New Constructions inside and outside the temple should be discouraged.
Chelavara Water Falls is a picturesque waterfall nestled among hills surrounded by lush greenery. Visitors need to take a short trek of around 500 meters, which becomes narrow and steep towards the end, requiring caution. One can view the waterfall from a distance as there is no access down to the pool. The sound of water amidst the quiet forest provides a calming effect.
Scenic waterfall nestled among the hills.
You need to do a short and easy trek for around 500 meters. Initial path was broad however the last 250 meters are very narrow with sudden drops in elevation, so you need to be a bit careful.
The waterfall can be viewed from a distance only and there is no way of getting down to it to get soaked.
The sound of water amidst the quiet of the forest is simply rejuvenating and calming.
Plus point, there was no one else around for the full duration we were there.

Mesmerizing beauty of water falling over a huge rock.. looks wow 😳..
But be careful about wild life.. I noticed fresh mark of bison and elephant and day or two old pug marks these climbing towards up side of falls from alternate road.
Never try to get into water it's always good to enjoy the nature from far don't try to hug it

Chelavara waterfall is a beautiful waterfall, but there is no access to the waterfall. Therefore you can see the waterfall from a vantage point. A small narrow path that leads to the waterfall. The view of the waterfall is good. The waterfall is dangerous and hence the reason people are asked not to go near the waterfall. There were people who were bathing in the waterfall, in spite of the warning. 15 minutes is all it takes to visit this place. I suggest tourists can visit Kabbe hills and while returning stop here to see the waterfall

The view is absolutely beautiful. And this is how the falls looks in December. There's still a lot of water and there are caution signs put up all over the place. Please be careful here as it's slippery (during monsoon). It's best to just go and look at it from a distance. That's what we did. Also there's no Trek or anything to go to the falls. It's just a small scenic path through coffee plantation filled with rocks that you can easily walk through(some 400-500m). But the view is definitely worth it. 8/10 overall.

This place is on way to Tamara and the odyssey resort . You can search in google and this place is away from city but must visit for peace and falls view.
I visited in weekdays and early Morning time . There will be no time limit but not recommended after 6pm since it’s surrounded by forest and coffee plantation and no people and no light area.
The way is completely filled with estates and lush green and this falls will be visible to road . Kindly stop when you see board about falls because the way to falls will start here with small walking path .google shows top way which is not needed as it won’t have any falls view and waste of time .
It’s a small trucking for about 5-10mints and road is small and wet due to monsoon rain and near by water moisture .be careful while trucking and be aware of leech’s.
We can’t go near falls and play in water as lot of deaths happened due to slipping on stone issue in past but you will go very near to falls and view is damn good. In weekends there will b no people so you can take good picks and enjoy some lonely no crowd peace time.
No parking charge no entry free since nobody will be there but kindly be careful as there won’t be anyone around , you will be solely responsible for your safety.

It’s a serene waterfall ! Love this place so much.
Please avoid going deep down to the waterfall. But some boys go there which is quite risky . The sound & the proper view of the waterfall can be viewed from the spot! ( Photo/Video attached )
This is a short trek of 300mts approximately from the main road ! Parking is a constraint as we had to park on the road ( U turn) !
We went now in June & it’s monsoon there. You have taken precautions for leeches & always carry an umbrella 🌂.

It's a small beautiful waterfall. Visited in December, didn't have much water around that time.
This is a short trek of 300mts approximately from the main road. Authorities have blocked the way that goes to the bottom of the waterfall due to serious risk of injuries, but few still go taking huge risks.Parking is a constraint as we had to park on the road.
There's another spot for viewing the waterfall, either continue the trek from the 1st spot or keep driving up the same road. There will be a crossing of an unpaved road, park vehicle there and follow the unpaved road and you will reach destination after a short walk. This 2nd spot according to me is much more safer and easy to reach.

Nature fills your heart. Awesome safari in the deep forest but only lucky people get to see forest wild life🙂 Highly refreshing morning walk. Beautiful River by the side. Lovely elephant camp with very sweet baby elephants. With hot & tastey food & surprisingly varieties we enjoyed the whole atmosphere. Not to forget the campfire. Big 👍for the staff. Talakaveri, also known as Talacauvery, is a sacred site for Hindu devotees and believed to be the origin of river Kaveri. Situated on Brahmagiri hills near Bhagamandala in Karnataka State's Coorg district, it lies in close proximity to Kasaragod district's border. This location holds significant religious importance and attracts many visitors every year.
The Sri Bhagandeshwara Temple is a significant Hindu pilgrimage site situated near the confluence of three rivers. The temple features multiple idols and showcases exquisite Kerala style architecture, attracting thousands of devotees every day. Traditional daily prayers are offered, followed by the distribution of Prasada as food to followers. The atmosphere is peaceful and well-maintained with remarkable wooden cuttings at the top of the temple structure.
Bhagamandala is 40 km from Madikeri (on the way to Talakaveri). It is known to have been built by the Chola kings in the 11th century. The architecture of many of the temples here is reminiscent of the temple style of Kerala. There are temples of Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva or Bhagandeshwara (local famous name for Lord Shiva), Lord Subramanya and Lord Vishnu. What I like most about this temple complex is its cleanliness and very quiet environment.
We were not too crowded the day we went and we were able to pray quietly and hurriedly. Also you can get annaprasadam on afternoon.
The Triveni Sangam is also nearby, where you can bathe in the river and enjoy the natural beauty. In fact, it is the confluence of three rivers, the Kaveri, the Kannike and the Sujoti. This association is also known as the Triveni Association. After bathing at Triveni, one goes to Dakaveri, about 8 km from Bhagamandala.
Om Nama Shivaya.

It is crowded on weekends and holidays with long queues but is well organised. They serve simple but delicious veg meal during lunch time, which devotees relish. Shops nearby sell items produced in the area such as Coffee, Honey, gift items etc. A divine visit.

A historical and holy temple. Thousands of devotees visit every day.
Kerala style architecture of the temple is excellent. Ambience is superb. Maintenance is good. Every day prayers are offered by following traditional practices. After maha mangalarathi at noon, food is offered to devotees as Prasada.

A beautiful and peaceful temple on the way to Talacauvery. The route from Coorg was so scenic with rain and mist when we travelled in Mid September. We also get to witness the conglomeration of three rivers called the Triveni Sangam.

Bhagamandala in Madikeri is a beautiful place to visit. It's a small town in Karnataka, India, known for its religious significance and natural beauty.
The first thing you notice is the peaceful atmosphere. Surrounded by lush greenery and the calming sound of the river, it's a perfect spot to relax and unwind. The air is fresh and clean, making it a great escape from the city.
One of the main attractions is the Triveni Sangama, where three rivers come together. It's a sacred place for Hindus and a nice place to take a short boat ride to experience the confluence.
The temples in Bhagamandala are another highlight. The Sri Bhagandeshwara Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is architecturally fascinating. It's a place where you can experience spirituality and tranquility.
The local market offers a variety of souvenirs and local produce. Don't miss the chance to try the delicious local cuisine, especially the Coorgi dishes.
However, it's important to note that the town can get a bit crowded during peak tourist seasons. To fully enjoy the serenity, it's best to visit during the off-season.
Overall, Bhagamandala is a lovely place to visit for a peaceful retreat, a glimpse into spirituality, and a taste of local culture.
Talakaveri Temple, located on the Bhramagiri hills, is renowned for its connection to the holy river Kaveri. Visitors are permitted to bathe in the spring waters of this sacred river. The temple features separate idols for Lord Shiva and Ganesha and emphasizes worship of the Kaveri river. It is recommended that visitors dress formally when entering the temple, with a separate shoe stand available at the entrance.
Spread across a vast area high up on the hills. The location itself makes the place worth visiting.
Beautiful temple area inside. One side looks down on the hills and offers great views.
Very cool, calm and clean ambience here.
Be sure to very appropriate clothes.
Must visit as a tourist spot and also as a spiritual place.
Plenty of parking outside. Location easily found on maps.
Pay toilets there inside.

The temple is located on a hill top. Hence, it was quite chilly out there. The temple is quite small. The view from the temple is quite scenic.
There is a dress code to follow at the temple. Shorts and short skirts are not allowed inside the temple premises. Devotees can wear traditional/ethnic clothes or a pair of shirt/t-shirt and full trousers.
It was a good experience overall.

Enjoy the peace and beauty of the place. Road to temple is quite good. Parking is free and no entry fee to temple. Be careful of dress code, shorts etc are not allowed. Wear decent clothing. Temple closes sharp at 6pm, i have requested for a timing update in google. By evening, clouds were coming down and floating near temple, such a great experience. Kids enjoy running around.

This is a beautiful temple and has a great view. Definitely recommend to visit it. Shorts not allowed, so please ensure to dress appropriately. The temple is 45 km from the city and it takes more than 1 hour to drive up to the temple. So consider that. Also the roads are curvy, so people with motion sickness can have some difficulty.

You need to park your vehicle before climbing the short inclination. There are steps and needs a 10 min walk cum climb to the temple. We had a chance to touch and feel the source of Kaveri! A place with scenic beauty.

The birth place of the river Kaveri. It was amazing to visit the place at this time of the year as the whole place was covered in fog and limited our view. The temple is beautiful and is a must visit place. Please make sure to not wear shorts while visiting as you won't be allowed inside.

1. AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU ARE COMING JUST TO VISIT OR TO SEE THE HILL VIEW POINT AS IT IS CLOSED.
2. It takes around 2hr+ to reach here on the way to coorg. The road is very narrow and uphill. Also it's very bad.
3. They charge 20/- as forest permits, 40/- as panchayat charges. Parking is free however, however if its crowded you wont get parking and have to walk very long.
4. There is a chappal stand 3/- per chappal and toilet @5/-. Prasad is there @20/-.
5. Photography is prohibited from the temple. However you can click pictures chupke chupke.
There is nothing great to see here, as we are from Goa It's common for us goans. The route which leads here is very long and boring. That's the only reason.

The route to Talakaveri Temple from Madikeri is simply breathtaking. The temple itself is also amazing, with stunning scenic surroundings. It is a must-visit if you are around Coorg.

Located about 45 kms from Kodagu, Talakaveri is considered the source of river Kaveri.
It si believed that the Kodavas erected a tank next to the temple and that the river originates as a spring feeding a tank or a Kundike and then flows underground to re-emerge as Kaveri some distance away.
The temple is dedicated to the Goddess Kaveriamma next to the tank and bathing in it on special occasions is considered holy. Its a great place to walk around,
Next to the temple there is a hill which can be climbed by taking about 400 steps. One can get scenic views of th forest around and the hills of Coorg. Even from the temple level, one can get a good views.
On a week end the place gets crowded. There is no entry fee and the place is open from 6.00 am to 8.30 pm. Parking is outside the complex on the road.

Heaven on earth.
STRICT Hindu temple only for pilgrimage & offering Puja & sacred Mantras. No picnic, no romance & not eating anything. Do not pollute & throw waste. This place came into being millions of years ago when the Earth was one land mass.
Muslims & Christians please don't go; you won't understand the value of such an important religious place of Hindus.
Humans consuming beef should avoid this place for sure.

It is believed that the river kaveri originates here. The way to this temple is a bit far from madikeri, so if you are planning to visit this place getting an auto sometimes might be hard, so one of the best way is to reach till bagmandala temple by auto and from there take a bus to here and while returning take a bus till here back. But if you are lucky, you can get an auto ride from madikeri like we did which is almost a 40-45 mins ride from madikeri. The view there is just so beautiful, could literally see the clouds moving around. This auspicious place is a must visit in coorg. Loved every bit of it. It was so windy and misty and the view was just amazing!

Located in Coorg, the Scotland of India, this is a beautiful temple that blends in with nature. Summers can be a bit hot, but a trip here during winters and rainy season will give you an unforgettable experience. The temple is the origin of Karnataka's holy river Kaveri. Starting from a spring in the temple pond, the river later splits into three, one of which flows west and merges with the Chandragiri river. Another is the Kabani river which flows eastwards to Wayanad. The third and most important river is the Kaveri River. Kaveri is known as the mother of Kodakin. This is the Triveni Sangam in South India. It is known as a tourist center but being a holy or a sacred place, it is better to be careful about dress code etc. Wearing low cut frocks, shorts etc. cannot enter the temple premises. There is plenty of space to park vehicles. It is best to be careful not to take pictures from places where photography is prohibited.

No eatables or plastic bags are allowed inside garden. Grass was clean and flowers were blooming. Lot of seating space in the amphitheater like structure. Its good to be there during evening. there is a temple next to garden where you can hear loud chants..it makes the while experience
majestic.

Loved this place. The view was so amazing to see sunset. Sunset was not visible as it was drizzling here and there. But that was not bad either. It was beautiful to see various clouds moving as well. Also, they were constricting and renovating the view path.
The place was clean. Visitors did not trash the place much. The park had lots of greens and flowers. Once the construction is complete, I trust that there would be more adjacent view points.

Raja’s seat is basically a well maintained park which has wide variety of flowers planted at the entrance and various animal statues installed all over the park. Kids would enjoy this place. Once you reach the other end of the park, the view will just blow your mind. The best time to visit the place would be during sunset. There is a sitting area with benches to sit, relax and enjoy the sunset. Parking area for vehicles is about 100 meters away from the park.

It's a must visit if you long for Buddhist teachings and principles.
The silence in those temples have an energy of it's own, which you'll feel as soon you as enter the gates.
However, most of the times many local tourists forget to maintain that silence and respect for the place, so do what many sign boards in the place will tell you to - 'keep silence'.
There are shops within the premises from where you can buy momentos to remember this place physically as mentally this place will stay with you.
Also try out the restaurants nearby, they are actually very good and light on your pockets. The local cuisine will help you connect to the place and people even more.
There is ample parking space made for tourists and also I believe rooms are made available for people who would want to stay back.

For those who want to see and experience a different way of life need to visit the Namdroling Monastery Golden temple. The place has an aura of it's own with it being the world for people based there. The monks and people living close by show you a life of simple living.

It's a unique thing to see.
There are 3 idols when you visit inside the temple.
One is Lord Buddha's which is 60 ft high and 2 others of 58fy high made of copper and gold plating.
It's a completely different vibe here, which I'd say gives you instant calm when you land the foot here.
At prayer time entry is not allowed for tourists.

The intricate details of the temple were simply mesmerizing. From the intricate carvings on the pillars to the intricate patterns on the walls, every inch of the temple was a work of art. The level of craftsmanship was truly astounding, and it was clear that a lot of care and attention had gone into creating this beautiful space. It's the kind of place that makes you appreciate the beauty of the world and the skill of those who created it.

This is a beautiful golden monastery for Tibetan Buddhism. There are several buildings that you can see, which are beautiful inside and out. If you are lucky you will see the monks practicing a ritual, which are musical and interesting to see. You can easily spend an hour or more here just looking around. Entry is free but you can make donations too.

Good place to experience the culture of Buddhists. Very hot though and not much to see.Nice ceremony and praying to watch. Very crowded and should be more quiet in a temple.

Beautiful Place. It looks like Tibet and people are friendly. It will be crowded on Weekends. There is no entry fees but you have to leave your slippers/shoes outside and pay for the slipper stand soo keep some spare change. Don't disturb the monks. Videography and drones are not allowed. There is place to buy souvenirs and food outside the monastery.

There are many activities at this place. There is a hanging bridge which also gives nice views. Deer park, animal enclosures and zip-line are at one side of the park. Other side there are some shops.

Not worth going all the way 30kms from COORG,. It's all the way 1km walk from parking lot, It's a very commercialized site now. Shopping area outside is good if you have a great bargaining prowess. One Saree showroom had a 50% discount which was very great bargain hunting.

Nice place in Coorg. They have a deer park and also a bird park. Entry for both is separate charges. There is also some activities available here like zip lining for an additional charge. Built in a large space and has some great views. Boating also available

A scenic place for sure but only interesting things are the wooden suspension bridge over kaveri river and bamboo(which you can see literally anywhere). They charge you for parking, entry, activities (which are not at all worth it). When you enter it feels like a couple's paradise as everywhere you see are couples visiting for some quality time, other than that theirs a small shopping and food zone at the entrance.TLDR skip this place if you are planning on visiting here.

Abbey Falls is a picturesque tourist attraction located 1 kilometer from the town, known for its natural beauty and mesmerizing sound of water cascading over rocks. Surrounded by lush coffee plantations and spice estates, it was previously named Jessie Falls during colonial times. With a height of around 70 feet, this magnificent waterfall joins the Kaveri River and provides visitors with stunning views amidst its scenic surroundings.
This natural beauty hardly can be reviewed. The majestic waterfall is a real beauty and grandeur. You have to climb 150 steps up and 150 steps down to reach the main spot. Must visit this natural beauty. The ticket is only rs. 20/-
Sarbani Majumder — Google review
The waterfalls at this location are a sight to behold. It is necessary to descend around 100 steps to get to the base of the falls, but the view is worth it. The surrounding plantations add to the beauty of the area. While the overall experience was positive, the bridge leading to the falls could have been better maintained.
The water from the falls is refreshing and has the ability to wash away stress and rejuvenate the senses. It's no wonder that this place is a must-visit for nature lovers. Thanks to the efforts of the local community in Coorg, this beautiful natural attraction has been preserved for all to enjoy. The small fee of Rs.10 for entry is a small price to pay for such a mesmerizing experience.

Good one.. We have to watch and come back from a point. No access to reach/ touch/ bath in falls. You have to visit the point through stairs only. No ramp or other source. Elderly people may face difficulty. So I have rated 3. Presently this photo is my mobiles wall paper.
Gowdham Kt — Google review
Visited here last year, it was a sunny day and humidity was high. It would have been wonderful if we could have access to the waterfall but we saw that the bridge was broken(not actually broken but twisted in a weird way). Still it looked quite stunning while in sunlight. Even though I hope that the bridge is fixed soon so that waterfall might become accessible, in a way it's good because people might start littering near the waterfall and it wouldn't be the same.

Abbe Falls in Coorg is a breathtaking natural wonder that left me in awe. The moment I arrived, the sound of cascading water and the lush greenery captivated my senses. The falls were a beautiful sight, with water gushing down the rocks, creating a mesmerizing view.
The pathway to the falls was well-maintained, making the journey enjoyable and safe. I appreciated the effort put into ensuring visitors could access the site comfortably. There were plenty of spots to take photos and admire the beauty of nature.
I particularly loved the surrounding forest and the variety of trees and plants. The air was so fresh and filled with the pleasant aroma of nature. It felt like a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.
One thing to keep in mind is that it can get a bit crowded, especially during peak tourist seasons. However, even with the crowd, the falls' natural beauty shone through.
Overall, Abbe Falls is a must-visit if you're in Coorg. It's a great place to connect with nature and witness the sheer wonder of a waterfall. I left with a sense of tranquility and a memory of a truly beautiful place.

The view of the falls is amazing but swimming is not allowed in this falls. There are parking lots available for you to park your vehicles, and you have to walk around 100 steps to reach the falls which is little tiring but worth it to watch the falls. The place where you stay and watch the falls isn't spacious enough. Overall a good experience.

Good place to visit. A lovely waterfall though water was less as it was March. A rope bridge to other side of fall is broken currently. Need a long walk across various steps. People with walking /climbing issues need to be careful while visiting. There are benches on the way for people to rest. Well maintained area with a entry fee for visitors and parking fee for cars. Must visit if you are in Madikeri.

Must visit waterfalls
But we went in the month of May and sadly there was not much water.
You will have to walk down and then trek up many stairs to the falls. The view and the trees all around are nice, but if you are traveling with elderly people, or even young people - it is recommended to carry some gear like atleast a pole or trekking stick.
Not as much crowd as expected.

It is a good place. Around 50-80 steps to go down to witness the falls. Amazing plantations surrounded. A one time visit.
Could have maintained it in a better way though & repaired the damaged bridge.
Good experience.
10/- for entry*

Good place to visit which is nearer to town. You need to get an entry ticket and walk for few minutes to reach the falls.
Best time to feel the falls will be during the monsoon where you have huge water running from the mountain.
Note: You won't be able to go near the water. You can view the falls and click pictures.
Vipin Thampan — Google review
Beautiful !! The place looks like largely destroyed by flood and landslides. But still safe to go. It's a spectacular view. Don't go near the waterfalls during rains as the source of water is from mountains above and at any time huge floods can fill the river in no time. There are many spots for clicking photos. Be careful entering the river as stones are so polished and slippery. Overall a must visit place

Abbey Falls is a captivating natural wonder that you won’t want to miss. Although the best time to visit is during or right after the monsoon season when the falls are more majestic, even a pre-monsoon visit in May offers a pleasant experience. Visitors can admire the falls from a distance, as direct access for bathing is restricted. The walk down to the falls takes approximately 20 minutes, and there are proper stairs for ease of descent. Keep in mind that the return journey uphill can be a bit challenging.Abbey Falls is a must-see spot for nature enthusiasts and those seeking tranquility amidst lush greenery

Waterfalls formed by river Kaveri over 70ft and is away by 6km from city in Madikeri, creates a spectacular view. Located amidst the dense forest is a place must visit during monsoon season. It has neatly built steps that aren’t much slippery that takes you to the view point. Entrance fees of 20/- to be paid at the counter. Dedicated parking space for two and four wheelers and other bulk passenger vehicles, has few good eateries and spice shops too in the vicinity. Nearby resorts and Homestay offer other adventure activities too. It’s open from 9:00AM to 5:00PM. Swimming and bathing isn’t allowed.
Please let’s all be a part in making a plastic free and pollution free environment whenever we visit such natures treasure

It's in the lap of nature. A place must for nature lovers. Hills, plantations, thick forests, valleys and all. The entry fees is Rs.10. There is a stretch for less than a kilometer that you have to go down the hill to reach there. The path is surrounded by dense forest. One can hear the chirps of insects and birds. We even found a tree snake on the stairs, which was taken away safely by the workers.

Since it’s one of the best point of attraction in Coorg, one must definitely visit it. However, there’s nothing interesting there except for a small fall, which could be because i went just the previous week and rainy season has just started. You have to walk down the stairs and in the way you can experience tall trees, where we cannot go of course, but can take a look at the beauty. While coming back, you have to walk back all along the stairs, which can be a bit tiring. Will take Max one hour to park, visit, click pictures, and come back.

Abbey Falls, located near Madikeri in Coorg, is a popular tourist destination renowned for its natural beauty and serene environment. The waterfall cascades from a height of about 70 feet, creating a spectacular view amidst the lush greenery of coffee and spice plantations.
The surroundings and the impressive sight of the falls, especially during the monsoon season when the water flow is at its peak. The walk to the falls involves descending around 200 steps through a pathway surrounded by dense foliage, making the journey to the falls quite scenic and enjoyable.
I would have rated it 4 stars, but the exhausting trek to and from the falls is quite strenuous, especially for older visitors.
