Located in Waldoboro, Morse's Sauerkraut is a renowned MidCoast establishment that offers a unique blend of deli and luncheonette experiences. The shop has upheld the tradition of Virgil Morse, who began crafting sauerkraut from scratch in 1918. In addition to their signature kraut, Morse's boasts an impressive selection of fresh sausages, tinned fish, craft beers, and cheeses.
This place rocks!!!! U can sample cheeses, meats and much more. I had one of the owners assisting me. She knows a lot about the products. She let me sample lots of meats and cheeses and most of it I bought. Spent almost $200 there. They are thinking of trying to make a Morse Hot Sauce.

Very deceptive little place on the outside but on the inside.... they have everything. Deli meats, cheeses, canned meats, specialty items galore. They let you sample cheeses before you purchase as well as the deli meats. This place is a.maz.ing! Recommend this place highly!
Abby Baker — Google review
Very unique shop with many items from Germany as well as the deli section with meats, cheeses, kraft, and so much more. While studying the kraft cooler, I happened to notice some wrapped muffaletta sandwiches. Grabbed one to try. Its one of the best I have ever had! Plenty of meat and olive toppings. Enough for two to share! Also a nice selection of German beers!

This unassuming building holds the most incredible collection of European specialty items!! Predominantly German..but French and Italian are represented too! Jams, oils, candies and sodas, a cheese and meat counter (they are quick to let you try before you buy!) and if course- their famous made there sour kraut and pickles!!! You can spend hours there poking around! Lovely people working there too!!

I love the location of this little joint. It is literally located in the middle of nowhere. Located on Route 220. Ample parking. Not very busy here whenever I have stopped by to place a take out order. Their restaurant includes a shop of various products. Their menu items are very delicious. There are a few tables available for dining in. I love their mouthwatering Rueben sandwiches. Yum!!

A must stop if your in the area! Incredible pickles, saurkraut, German bratwurst and Polish Kielbasa 😋 Absolutely, delicious! ❤

Incredible selection of quality products! The pickles and sauerkraut are fabulous but the meats, candies, gifts…it’s a delight to visit and hope we do again.

So much stuff! I stopped by the grab the sour mustard pickles because I love them. I did NOT realize how awesome this place! Came for pickles, left with over $100 of stuff! Definitely a hidden gem!
Kate R — Google review
Great selection of meats, cheeses, olives, and of course kraut (which is really really good!)! Everything we tried was great and the cheese monger was super helpful! If you can't find your favorite European stuff here, you probably can't get it in the US!

The deli is delicious with a great variety (my husband and I had some Gouda and pepperoni). The market has a lot to choose from and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

Unique shop with delicious specialty items including marzipan, white wines, and a broad range of spices. Very friendly service as well, especially Ella at the front desk, in helping find some items. Will definitely be back soon!

Delicious cured meats. A wide selection of international cheeses, and so much more from beer to wine to sweets and treats. So good!

Morse’s Sauerkraut is located in the middle of farm country in Waldoboro, in an unassuming roadside building, but the moment you walk in, you have entered a gourmet import store and restaurant. Morse’s has been making their own sauerkraut and pickles for more than 100 years, and I’m not sure how long the shop has been open. They have a large and interesting variety of cheese, and they are enthusiastic about answering questions and providing samples. I always learn something when I stop in. In the sausage/deli cooler, they have German, Hungarian and Pork sausages, as well as imported hams, smoked pork, and other charcuterie.
The rest of the shop is devoted to imported products and ingredients, mostly German, and a huge selection of chocolates. We always stop by for our holiday candy for stockings and gifts.
Dean Emmerson — Google review
You have got to stop here. It is amazing. All the pickles and kraut are just the start. It is wonderful. Wish the restaurant was open. It sounds awesome. Can’t wait to come back. The deli has a tremendous variety of meats and cheese. Don’t forget about the great selection of candy.
Shawn Surma — Google review
Went here on a beautiful fall day. The drive into this remote restaurant was stunning. The German restaurant and store is kinda awesome. Lots of product that you don't normally see. Various pickle samples. We ended up choosing the half sours. So good. The restaurant was fun too. Small room only five tables so we had to wait but it was worth it. Had the bratwurst with Sauerkraut and a reuben both were great. Fun outing.

We learned about Morse's sauerkraut when we ate Ruben sandwiches at Moody's Diner in 2018.
Got to visit Morse's Sept 2021. What a delicatessen! Incredible selection of international products, and homemade pickled vegetables and cured meats.
Don't miss this off the beaten path, longtime, Maine treasure. Get your next picnic lunch here! Nice people!
Really great captain and crew, and happy passengers on a calm sea, Sept 23. The vessel actually blew a hose in the engine room on the way back from Monhegan Island. Calls were made, a speedboat rushed a part out to us along with a ferry-line mechanic, and we got fixed up and were on our way. Great performance by captain and crew and ferryline. They sent another vessel out to tail us in.
We returned to mainland to a cheering crowd on the dock who just happened to be having a celebratory memorial to one of the line's favorite captains who had served for years.
Lobster for all, and donate to the scholarship fund for young mariners. The spirit of the company was out full force that day in every way
It felt like being on a television show with several episodes. God Bless!
Irene Paine — Google review
The true Maine experience - lobsters, seals, puffins, lighthouses... And how cool is it to get to ride on a former WW2 wooden transport ship? The crew was safety-conscious, knowledgeable and really, really fun. A great business run by a great family.
Wells Lyons — Google review
Pet friendly. Staff has small town friendliness and helpfulness. Website is easy-to-navigate and book. I take an annual daytrip with my 2 dogs in the summer to Monhegan. The staff and fellow passengers love the dogs.
The captain points out places of interest on the ride, and stops to show wildlife along the way. One time there was a sun fish out and he took 2 passes so both sides of the boat could see it.
Another time they waited so a straggler didn't miss the ferry.
On this recent trip there were a lot of swells after the storm on the previous day. The crew passed out Ginger candies to those who weren't feeling well, and apologized that they didn't have more!
It's a lovely ride to the island and the day is the highlight of my summer. I cherish it.
Dr. Kathleen Bartlett — Google review
Crazy about a mile out about died. It only took about 45 minutes for them to get a mechanic out on board to repair it and we were back on our way. Apparently this only happens once every four decades or so? A crew was great. The trip was great. The adventure was great. I was grateful the boat didn't go down and I didn't have to swim.
gregory albright — Google review
The place has been rebuilt. It’s so beautiful inside and outside. The staff was friendly and helpful. The place had postcards and sweatshirts and more. It also has a very nice lounge upstairs with a place to paint. Very nice 👍🏼👍🏼

We enjoyed our trip to Monhegan Island, going to and from on the Monehegan Boat Line. It was a pleasant experience. I recommend bringing a light jacket.
J Suzanne Couhie — Google review
Well run operation. Taking the ferry is a great way and the only way for most of us to visit Monhegan.
The ride is about an hour with inside and outside seating.
The crew points out wildlife and points of interest.
Andrew Nagelin — Google review
Awesome, hardworking crew and ferry. Our boat ride back was thrilling for the first few minutes, with giant, crashing waves. Can’t wait to go back!!
HBTrails Adventures — Google review
In July I took a Puffin Trip. The crew was very informative and we saw plenty of wildlife: Puffins, Seals and Bald Eagles along with some others. I would recommend this trip for anyone wanting to see the puffins.
Dan G — Google review
Andy and crew at Monhegan Boat Line to Monhegan Island are awesome. Very smooth boat ride both ways, easy pick up and drop off, and bathrooms on board. It takes a little over an hour to get there, but it goes quick since you're going through the harbor and open water. Very possible to see sharks or whales, but ask Andy and his crew questions about the islands and stuff and they are happy to answer them.
Matt Perrone — Google review
This was a super cool tour. We got to see a ton of puffin on the tour as well as seals! Captain Phil was a great guide with a wonderful personality. He was a perfect choice for it and we learned and laughed a bunch! One of the other really cool things they did was actually pull up a few of the lobster traps that they do recreationally. This was a neat process and he went through lots of information about the lobster industry, lobstermen (and lobsterwomen), and the conservation efforts. If you ever get the opportunity you should do this tour with them!
David Clark — Google review
We really enjoyed our boat tour. The staff was great in helping us to find parking in town. We went out for a puffin tour and although we didn't have much luck (end of season) we loved everything about the tour. Highly recommend if you are in the area.

It's an excellent place to walk your dog and bring your children to walk on the boardwalk and enjoy the Gazebo and the river. You also get to walk across to Sand Bridge which is a historical item dating back to the early 1900s

Had no idea this beautiful place was hidden in the heart of Waterville!
Write your initials on the lock with your love, and (probably shouldn't) throw the key in the river to forever seal your love!
And old tradition, with a sweet spot ❤️
The Two Cent Bridge is totally worth a visit! (Or photoshoot)
Donna Jean — Google review
Interesting historical spot. Seems like it could use some upkeep (floodlight was broken and dangling) but structurally it was sound.
You can just imagine folks paying a penny to cross over to go to work, shopping, school, etc.

Beautiful bridge. River was flowing hard
Maggie Poisson — Google review
Cool bridge with a lot of history. If you have time and are in the area it is worth a visit and a walk across the river. With just a couple of people on it you could feel it sway but it is not unsafe.
Dan — Google review
We attended Waterville Rocks outdoor concert in the spacious park beside Two Cent Bridge on a warm, cloudy summer evening. Maine singer-songwriter Chris Ross started about 7:15, followed by The Weight Band around 8:45. A well-behaved crowd of 300-400 people brought their own chairs and blankets. There were two food trucks, an ice cream vendor and beer truck. The stage has a good sound system but terrible lighting. Portapotties in the parking lot. We thought the event was well managed except for the lengthy wait times and irritating recorded music used before the event and in the interval. It would be wise to program recordings aligned to the scheduled entertainment.
Wendy Schweikert — Google review
Great history. I actually stopped for the farmers market but took a few minutes to take a couple pictures by the historic to send bridge. This bridge has been here for a very long time and has had a lot of memories. If you're new to the area or just traveling through I'd recommend you stop and take a picture with it. Who knows if it will be here the next time you come by. And if it is it'd be a great opportunity to take another photo and put the two next to each other 20 years or so apart
Tsquare Talk — Google review
It was awesome! Seriously so pretty! The leaves are changing colors and the view was gorgeous! It was a nice little park to walk with our 5 year old. Worth the quick stop.
Gabriela — Google review
Always lovely to see the bridge still being used. Especially now that the other bridge is under construction currently. It's funneling foot traffic to downtown Waterville across the the Two-cent Bridge. Exactly what it was built for. Marvelous.
William Stubbert — Google review
Nice old toll bridge for people. Google maps brought me to an industrial side with no parking, best to go to Head of the Falls park and enjoy it from there. The bridge has recently been redone and looks amazing for its age. The toll booth is the red box but doesn't look like much from the inside.
Marshall Point Lighthouse, a charming white lighthouse dating back to 1858, is a must-see on any New England east coast tour. The property boasts the lighthouse itself, a meticulously restored 1880s keepers' house, summer kitchen, a recently reconstructed late 19th-century barn, and the original oil house.
We strolled from town to this picturesque lighthouse. It was a healthy walk past some cute houses and gardens. The lighthouse is adorable. The views, splendid. Such a pretty spot ! Savor the views and soak in the serenity! Week days are best bets for a visit to avoid the crowds.

The museum wasn't open since it's winter but the views are amazing. I'm sure the museum has a lot of good stuff in it. I'll be stopping by when it's open to explore and learn more about it. There's also some very cool rocks there.

This lighthouse park is beautiful, we had a picnic and enjoyed the view. A Forest Gump scene was filmed on the footbridge to the lighthouse and people enjoy reenacting it.
The museum and gift shop is very nice.
ericmtnbiker — Google review
This is by far my most favorite lighthouse I've visited. The employees were knowledgeable and shared so many neat stories. This is the lighthouse used in the movie Forest Gump! Local artists were getting set up to create. We saw seals here too!
Brandee Wheeler — Google review
Very cool lighthouse. Beautiful scenic view. There is a cool museum inside and a little gift shop. Check the hours before you go if you want to go in. Otherwise you can just walk around and explore the grounds. If you’re in the area definitely check it out. And of course Forest Gump did turn around at this lighthouse on the east coast.
Quinn Duffy — Google review
One of our favorite places to visit in the area. As the light changes throughout the day different aspects are highlighted which, for us anyway, make each visit new and enjoyable. There is parking for a few vehicles right at the museum in the former light keepers house but most parking is a short walk away.
P Ferwerda — Google review
Stopped in to check out the lighthouse during a drive along the coast. A very picturesque location with a fabulous view of coastal Maine. The lighthouse museum had a great collection of historic items regarding the lighthouse and surrounding area.

Beautiful place to hang out & enjoy the beautiful Atlantic ocean. Super scenic. No charge to visit was a huge plus! The day we visited was mostly clear sky's with a little fog in the distance. Made for a great side trip along Maine's coastline.

First time going there and I must say I was not disappointed! Absolutely breathtaking views, perfect for taking your friend's and family, don't forget your hat, water and sunglasses as there isn't much in terms of area's to shelter from the hot sun.

Even in the rain this was a nice Lighthouse to visit. The museum on site was informative. The gift shop was cute with a lot of little trinkets available for purchase. The volunteers are helpful and very nice.

RUN FORREST! RUN!!! Such a cool, scenic light with a fun, famous history for being in an iconic scene of the popular classic movie Forrest Gump. During low tide, I was able to get down on the rocks below and peek into tide pools for sealife. I only spotted snails, but the rocks down there were amazing. So many patterns and colors and types. Any geology buff would be thrilled to explore these tidal shore rocks.

What a place and what a feeling it gave me.
This place is like a memory watching the movie Forrest Gump as a kid. When I was actually here the feeling is so surreal. It’s a beautiful feeling. The drive is fantastic, excellent scenery.

A special treat to visit The Marshall Point Lighthouse on my New England east coast tour. The property includes the lighthouse, a lovingly restored 1880’s keeper’s house, summer kitchen, a recently reconstructed late 19th century barn, and the original oil house.
The lighthouse has featured in many commercial photo shoots and in the movie Forest Gump featuring Tom Hanks, whose character concluded his cross-country run on the runway of Marshall Point Lighthouse. In the museum, visitors will find documentation on the filming of the movie as well as a gift shop offering a variety of gifts for all ages, including: clothing, jewelry, housewares, books, and toys. Highly recommended when in the Port Clyde area!

We go here at least every couple of years. The lighthouse from Forest Gump. In the museum there are photos of the filming of the lighthouse scene. Kids love to explore in the granite stones and ledges in the area. There is also a local Fishermen's Memorial. Sit on the benches or rocks and enjoy Maine's rugged coastline. Great place for a picnic or enjoy any of the great restaurants in the area.

We walked to the Lighthouse from Port Clyde, a fairly easy walk. The museum was very interesting and John (volunteer) was full of knowledge and stories; very friendly! While we were there, a Model T Ford group stopped by. Highly recommend this lighthouse when in or near Port Clyde!

Interesting little lighthouse with many tales and artifacts. The staff were very knowledgeable and friendly - a very cool experience.
FYI - there are a few HC and non-HC parking spaces at the lighthouse itself - beyond the little parking lot at the entrance.

Cutest bookstore!!! Ahhh I could get lost in here for hours. There are so many great book sections and they are all organized. Plus, there’s a café attached to the bookstore so it is very convenient.
This strip of stores are so fun to visit, like Reny’s.
The staff are also super sweet.

My most favorite lighthouse to date. Beautiful scenery. Able to walk the rocks, sit in shaded areas and enjoy the views. But the best part is you can actually go up to the top of the lighthouse. Great museum, super friendly staff. Definitely a must see!

There is an entrance fee to this lighthouse. There is plenty of parking, a small museum, and you can climb the tower to the light.
The surrounding grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Be careful climbing down the rocks as they get extremely slick by the water.

Magically beautiful, there's so much to see and enjoy. It's very gorgeous being there in person and capturing the waves hitting the rock formations. Super relaxing just sitting there watching the waves while the sun is setting. Perfect place for couples to enjoy a romantic evening with mother nature. Nothing can beat the true beauty of nature. The light house itself is well maintained and great to see a clearer view of the ocean shore. Definitely a must visit. Great for friends and families
Tammie Nguyen — Google review
Pretty far away from anything, but worth the drive. Secret tip: there are a pair of chairs that overlook the ocean to the back right side of the lighthouse.
Ben Park — Google review
We had a wonderful time visiting here recently! The best part was just walking around on the rocky shore, looking at the tidal pools, and enjoying the ocean view! I would suggest wearing good walking shoes to visit here so you can enjoy walking around on the rocks without worrying about hurting your feet. It was fun to go inside the lighthouse and take the steps to the top, but if you have a fear of heights it may not be for you. You can see down through the holes in the steps and there is a small ladder at the top to climb. Even if you don't make it to the top of the lighthouse, you can still have a great time visiting here!
Alison — Google review
A nice little lighthouse with nicely kept grounds. The stairway up to the top of the tower costs an extra dollar. It is a short way up, but the tight quarters and steep stairs turned some people away. The museum is informative but the documents and artifacts need preservation if they are going to survive. The adjacent art gallery features local artists and is a lot of fun.

Gorgeous view! We were there in late Autumn, parking space was limited, but if you dine in the adjacent Sea Gull restaurant there were plenty.

So glad we were able to see Pemaquid Point Lighthouse!! This lighthouse was commissioned by John Quincy Adams in 1827 and as a beloved landmark of Maine, it was chosen to be featured on the 2003 State Quarter, from the 50 States Quarters series. If you ever get a chance to go and after you enjoy the spectacular scenery, be sure to check out the Fisherman’s Museum. We learned so much about Lobster Trapping and Lobsters, that we had no idea about. The volunteers for this place are so knowledgeable and love to share the history with you. We absolutely loved our visit here and it’s definitely worth the few dollars they charge for entrance.

Pemaquid lighthouse holds very special place in our hearts, my husband and I got married here 11 years ago. People were most accommodating and we had a wonderful, simple ceremony. Very nice things was the fact that they have inside room as well in case the weather didn't cooperate. We love to return here every year for our anniversary and our children love to explore the small rocky beach and tide pools. There is place for picnic , just watch for poison ivy.

It's a must see place! The man in the light house is so knowledgeable about the area and history, it would be fun to listen to him all day!! The cliffs behind the light house is where I first seen the Atlantic Ocean. I recommend that to everyone! The views are stunning from every direction and you can climb up to the top of the light house if you're brave enough! Their gift shop is full of really cool things and worth going into. There are several restrooms, food, and ice cream right on the point. Keep ahold of your ticket and you can come and go all day long. The people that work there are really nice and knowledgeable people! It's a 1,700 mile one way trip for us and we ALWAYS go to this light house!
Angela F — Google review
Such a wonderful, scenic lighthouse to visit. It was a bit fogged in, but it cleared enough to spot eider ducks and cormorants diving for sea critters in the rough surf below the light. The museum is staffed by some very knowledgable volunteers that have all sorts of historical stories of the light and surrounding areas. We were there in early October which gave us the opportunity to have a volunteer on site to allow us to climb the tower to the top. One of the few lighthouses in Maine that allow you to climb up to the top. Well worth the trip to see.
Kevin Howard — Google review
It's a bit of a drive away but it is beautiful. There is not much to do and it's small but if you go knowing this and don't expect much more you will be happy with the scenery.

Stopped here on a drive from Portland to Acadia. Definitely worth the small detour! You can walk down the rocks and take in the views. There are bathrooms, a nice picnic area, and a small museum. One of the coolest lighthouses we saw while visiting Maine!
Kristen Peers — Google review
$4 per adult to enter the parking area and the grounds. It's a large parking lot likely easy for RV or bus. It is easy to get photos of the lighthouse from all angles.
There are a good amount of picnic tables under tree shade with a view of the ocean and the sound of waves hitting the rocks.
It's easy to walk out onto the rocks leading to the water. Use caution stand back from the water and no swimming here.
There is a permanent men's and women's bathroom here. The bathrooms are not handicapped accessible.

It was my first time visiting Pemaquid Point Lighthouse in Bristol, Maine.
The sun was out🌞
People were out.
As well as I.
Taking photos of all of the beauty that surrounds this Park.
I have an artificial knee that was installed 1 year ago, and I found it to be a relatively easy hike across the rock formation that has eroded over time.
The lighthouse was open for all who wanted to climb the 33 stairs and climb up a 7 rung ladder at the top of the twisted spiral staircase.
The fee is a donation of one dollar or more.
The staff was very friendly.
The restroom facities were pretty clean, being that it was Sunday afternoon.
The scenery is one that the whole entire family would enjoy visiting this pristene lighthouse.
I noticed 3 young children climbing up and down the rocky terrain.
There is handicap ♿️ parking at the park.
I will definitely come back soon and tell my friends about this experience.
Happy Vacation!

Went here on a goof because we had several hours to kill before an event and it was only $3 - all I can say is WOW!!!!!! This museum is fabulous!!!!! 4 floors of amazing displays, exhibits, hands on fun, history! Lots of great photo ops too. You MUST go, bring the kids, and allow yourself lots of time to see everything.

It is definitely the best value for the money of any museum I've ever been to. So many great exhibits to browse through. Fun for all age groups and interests. Multiple floors but easy to maneuver and get around. Nice little gift shop attached to it and very friendly staff throughout making it a wonderful overall experience.

I have lots of memories of coming here as a kid and enjoy bringing my own kids a few times a year. The museum has lots of great exhibits about the history and animals of Maine. The third floor houses exhibits that change regularly. From the museum you can also walk over to the State House which is beautiful inside and has a few more dioramas that feature animals from Maine.

This place had a little bit of every thing about the history of Maine. Can spend couple of hours seeing the displays.
Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is a vast waterside area that spans over 250 acres of well-manicured gardens, including rose and meditation gardens, as well as natural landscapes and trails. It is a popular attraction for visitors throughout the state due to its stunning beauty. The garden features winding paths through forests, meadows and ornamental gardens with diverse plant species from around the world.
Beautiful garden and the troll exhibit adds the fun, wow factor!!! Also, they offer a free shuttle to get you close to trolls, so that is a wonderful perk. Smooth paths for the most part! Cute kids area with activities! Definitely worth a visit!

We spent 3 hours and didn't even hit all the trails. I can't imagine how much work it takes to keep it all up. I loved that the plants and bushes etc all had plaques so you knew what they were. We enjoyed all the hiking trails that there were to offer. Really loved the trolls... the information signs were very inspiring! Thanks for a great experience. Lot's of stuff to do if you have kids too!

We absolutely loved this place! There's so much to see, the price was very reasonable. I really enjoyed the honey bee demonstration the entomologist/bee keeper was super knowledgeable, wish I could remember his name to give him a shout out. They are also very handicap accessible which was great for my mother-in-law. They had at least 6-7 mobility scooters and wheelchairs as needed. You can see a large portion of the park on the scooters. Some sections are inaccessible by scooter but they have a shuttle to take you to those areas.

This botanical garden is stunning - so many places to explore on the grounds - flowers, shrubs, trees for all seasons. My favorite parts of the garden were the larger-than-life trolls tucked into corners throughout the property. Their stories were delightful and reminded me of my childhood. There was also a charming, whimsical fairy village, which every visitor can work on. There's a lot of walking involved, but shuttle buses come by often to pick you up if needed. I hope to make my way back there in the winter, during their light show I bet it is spectacular.

Incredible gardens! The trolls are a must see! So great for kids! There are so many magical spaces to explore and marvel at. Staff is always very friendly. Gift shop has some fantastic treasures, we all found something there.
I would like to note, the shuttle service was awesome! The drivers were all very accommodating and would come around every couple minutes to pick up points, which had benches. We had two little ones in our group and my father is an amputee, It was so nice to have a reliable shuttle as an option when we needed a break from walking.

The gardens are very well thought out, so many amazing flowers and plants I’d never seen before. Staff was so knowledgeable and willing to help.
We went when it had rained most of the day and we were still able to have a great time. For those with mobility issues, calling ahead can be beneficial to have a guided tour. There is a shuttle system that makes this experience enjoyable for everyone.

Lovely little botanical gardens. I was there in October and it was still so pretty. I can only imagine what this place would look like in the summer! If you are in the area, I would say it is definitely worth a stop. I spent a little over and hour but I was in a bit of a hurry. You could easily spend a few here.

I have been meaning to go here for years and so glad I finally did! Such a wonderfully expansive property with so much to see! If you're at all fond of plants like myself then this is a must visit. The grounds are absolutely beautiful filled with so many wonderful flowers and plants. Not to mention they have 5 Trolls by the super talented Thomas Dambo! Have wanted to see his work for years and seeing them in person is awe inspiring! Absolutely cant wait to go back again!

The Gardens Aglow event is spectacular! I would highly recommend purchasing tickets in advance as they sell out quickly! Kudos to the Botanical Gardens crew for their efforts to cap the crowds by only allowing certain number of people in. Because... It gets crowded really fast! And the kids are uncontrollable! Some parenting needs to happen because what I saw was beyond my wildest fears. Anyway, only a portion of the gardens is open for this event but you do get to see two of the trolls, which is cool! I would go with the earliest hour (I think it is 4pm) to get a bit of daylight and to also enjoy the lights after dark. Layer up! And even though the paths are well maintained, it gets muddy really quick! Definitely, I mean it is a must, to stop and get the Wild Blueberry Crisp! Don't know who came up with that, but it is Delicious!!! Popcorn is also sold on the way. It takes about an hour if you stop and take photos, or a couple of hours, if you leisurely walk and rest on the benches along the way. Worth a visit!!! Ah, remember what parking lot you parked at, they have letters assigned to them, so you don't wander around afterwards.

Such a nice relaxing environment. If you go during the weekend, reservations would be required. We didn't know but arrived at 9am on a Tuesday. Employee said they were not booked. So we lucked out. Very pretty landscaped garden. The trails were nice and wide. Markers labeling paths were noticeable. Employees wandering the property always said hello and asked if we needed any guidance. They gave a map when we entered which was detailed. Going in the fall was nice but I think I would have liked to go when a lot of the plants were in bloom. Finding the trolls were fun. Lots of rest stops along the way. Seemed like a lot of fun things to do for kids.

We had a great time here. Went with my girls age 3&5 in the later part of the day. Earlier in the day there are kids activities so don’t miss those like we did.
It was a lot of walking for my 3 year old but my 5 year old kept up and was excited to find all 5 trolls. She enjoyed the puzzle and finding the clues.
Cafe had a nice variety of snacks and pre-made sandwiches and salads (although a little pricey- $13 for a ham and cheese sandwich with lettuce and tomato). I’d recommend bringing a picnic if allowed as there’s plenty of scenic seating.
What really stood out to me during our visit were the park employees. Every single one was so kind and helpful and willing to entertain a conversation with my inquisitive 5 year old. I appreciate how each troll has an attendant to help with photos and keep the park guests moving. The shuttle around the park was also extremely helpful for tired legs big and small.
Overall it was a beautiful day and experience and I would definitely make the drive to come back here in the future. Really cool spot with lots of educational opportunities. Gardens are extremely well kept, you can tell there’s pride of ownership here. Clean bathroom facilities.

A very calming place to just walk around and see nature, my favorite part has to be the pond, it has frogs, turtles and even your occasional dragonfly. It's a good place to go if you have kids that want to explore nature more. They have a few trails that you can walk on too, they give off more of a woods feeling than the other stuff in the park. They even have a cafe where you can get food and drinks!

Very nice park. We thought it was going to be a little more ocean costal but it was up against a river. The park is very big and has shuttles going around it pretty often giving people rides. Very well maintained and all people there were nice. Lots of flowers and some cool hiking trails to walk along as well. Overall a good experience and if you enjoy gardens feel free to go there.

This is the most amazing Botanical Garden in New England. It spans over a great amount of land, allowing for hiking and an all day trip to cover the entire ground. The entire place is well maintained and just absolutely gorgeous to sit and relax with nature. There are plenty of restrooms throughout and reasonable food options.
I would recommend getting there early as parking fills up quickly.

I have wanted to see Gardens aglow at Maine Botanical Gardens for a while, well, I finally got tickets this year! To say the least, this experience was definitely worth the 3 and a half hour drive up, I would give it 100/10 stars if I could! Gardens aglow was incredible, you round a corner and it just gets better and better! Not to mention the kettle corn, cafe AND the best fresh blueberry crisp/blueberry juice that scattered throughout the light path! I am just blown away as this was absolutely incredible and wayyy exceeded my expectations!! I will definitely be coming back next year with a few more people!! Thank you for all the hard work you all do to make this incredible experience for all of us!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Good weekend getaway to see the Holiday lights. Get tickets in advance a month or so since slots fill up quick. Parking is decent but could get bad if choosing later times other than 4pm opening slot. Decent display of lights, get to see some troll sculptures also! Only thing bad is most paths are muddy if weather is wey, make sure to wear waterproof boots and bundle up as it can get windy in winter time.

Love this place! Great experience for everyone of all ages! We’ve been during the spring time and just went for the Aglow nights. During the spring, there is a lot more of the grounds to visit and you can’t forget the trolls! (My favorite part!) During the winter, they put up holiday lights and shorten the paths to make it roughly 1 mile to walk around.
The trolls are by an overseas artist(cannot recall name or place but they have a pamphlet with the info!). The head is created there then brought to the US and the bodies built from recycled materials! You can climb on the legs and they make for great photo ops. Usually everyone is very kind to take your picture if you ask! They also have a kids play area with a cute treehouse, a little mushroom hidden house, some musical toys, and some other things! During the warmer months you can easily spend 3+ hours here!
The grounds are always well manicured. We’ve seen the gardeners working and planning the layout a couple times, which was so neat! They also have a little butterfly house in the spring.
There is also a gift shop, restrooms, a little cafe with hot dogs, cookies, fudge, chips, drinks, etc. They had hot coco for $3 (small cup, maybe 5-7oz) during the winter lights too. During the spring/summer, there is a little trolley you can ride from stop to stop which is nice if you get tired or need more accommodation. I do recommend buying tickets in advance as they sell out sometimes! Especially the Aglow lights! The parking lot is nice and spacious and we’ve never had a problem finding parking! Sometimes you just have to walk a little bit (~2-8 minutes, depending on spot).

Always a good experience. However, the amount of people there made it hard to enjoy all of the aspects of Gardens Aglow. Long lines for photos with the trolls and the kids area. If it were warmer, we would have waited in line. No fault of the Botanical Gardens.

This place is beautiful and educational and fun! Great way to spend the day with your family. Bring comfortable shoes as it's a lot of walking on trails. There is a shuttle bus for those that need it. Buy a bottle of water from them. It's refillable and free to refill. There are filling stations but they aren't clearly marked. There is so much to see and explore here. Big enough to come back multiple times to enjoy it.

This was one of the best Christmas light shows I’ve ever been to. The gardens were beautiful and the lights were amazing. It was super rainy when we were there but there were a ton of people visiting. If I’m ever in the area around Christmas, I will be back.
The Maine Maritime Museum offers historical artifacts, demonstrations, and cruises that showcase the Kennebec River's shipbuilding tradition. The museum features paintings, models, and interactive exhibits that tell the story of seafaring over 400 years. Additionally, visitors can witness a working wooden-boat shipyard in the on-site Percy & Small Shipyard that is preserved by the museum. Outdoor exhibits related to shipbuilding require appropriate attire for viewing.
This was an amazing museum to see the history and documentation on Shipbuilding in Maine. Many model ships, lighthouse exhibit, engine works, plus you have all the original buildings that were used to plan, fabricate, and build ships. It was a real eye opener for lobster fishing is a dedicated building. As well as the had a remarkable painters exhibit, Arthur Beaumont. His watercolors are breathtaking. Allow plenty of time to explore as there is much to see and walk too. Strollers would be fine outdoors with ease. Wheelchairs if not motorized may have some difficulties in areas.

We did the museum tour, which I think is a good thing to do BEFORE going around and looking at the rest of the museum. It was helpful to start with an understanding of the history of the business and shipyard.
The preservation of the buildings all these years is remarkable, and kids should have plenty of entertainment during their visit.
There are lots of smaller indoor exhibits, like the lobstering exhibit that are interesting for learning about the modern fishing industries.

We should have gotten an earlier start…so much fabulousness to take in! We spent a little time inside the main building and then it was time to take the boat trip up the Kennebec past the Bath shipyard with two guides keeping us informed of the history of shipbuilding in Bath and pointing out what we were seeing around us…wonderfully done by these guides. After docking we did visit 2 of the original buildings on site and plan to return later in the week to continue taking in all the exhibits. It is a first class museum!

We were in Bath, ME in October. It was a side trip which my friend resisted. "Shipbuilding!?? Blah, Boring". However, I was driving so she literally "came along for the ride". Blah, boring couldn't be further from the truth.
Bath, ME had a very important role in building ships, perfecting design. There are over 20,000 items in this collection. You get an education in what's involved in building a ship. There are also Guided Tours, boat tour on the river, many demonstrations. Wooden shipbuilding is fundamental to this area of Maine. Maine has more to offer than just spectacular Parks, Lobster & Fall Colors. Bath offers another perspective on this stunning state.
Interesting town too with some great restaurants.

The Maine Maritime Museum is an amazing, unexpected pleasure and is definitely worth a stop on any trip to Bath. I'm guessing if you live in Bath, this is a must for anyone who has kids or loves boats as well. This is a nice sized campus with a main museum building with a bunch of exhibits and a bunch of other buildings which take you through the process of building a schooner. November of 2022 is free admission which was a very nice surprise, but even regular admission is worth the price (this is one of the few museums left on earth where kids up to high school age can actually get in free!) The staff is amazingly nice and knowledgeable. The location is basically perfect with a wonderful setting right on the river. This is a museum that is someplace I'll never forget and it is well worth a visit!

We had an amazing experience on the Autumn Lights Cruise! We capstoned our honeymoon with this experience. We did book ahead of time, and we’re thankful we did as it appears to have been full. Although we did not partake, there were light snacks and refreshments (including coffee) available for purchase.
The crew were kind, friendly, and informative. They shared local history, landmarks (of course focusing on the river lighthouses), and wildlife. We feel very fortunate that we were able to see 2 eagles, countless seals, and many other waterfowl! The seals were so cute popping up and checking out what us tourists were doing! The fog rolled in and we were worried it would ruin our views but actually cast a really cool vantage point over the river!
This hopefully a helpful tip - our cruise docked and we left the museum around 5:45 so we just recommend accounting for a little leeway around the 5:30 end of cruise if you’re making dinner reservations. We didn’t have dinner booked until 7:20 so we weren’t in a rush!
We talked about doing another tour with them on subsequent trips to Maine! Thank you so much!

Very interesting. The downside was that, despite opening at 9:30am, there were a number of things not yet open (or operational), like the Donnell house (opened at 11am) and many of the video monitors.

The Maine Maritime Museum was so much more than I expected. There are 6 working buildings on 3 or 4 acres that are in daily use building, restoring and displaying historical boats. Includes a blacksmith shop, sail loft, carpentry shop, boat displays the list goes on. The main museum is an incredible display of maritime history, historical pictures, ship parts, maritime stories, maritime trailblazers and the building and use of ships for centuries. You don't have to love ships to love this museum. A ticket allows 2 days to see everything... and you'll need it.. AND there are cruises that show the Kenebec River and historical points of interest.

A must-see on the Maine coast. The main building has thoughtful, informative exhibits, well-placed to make the most of a small-medium space. It's artful as well, with rotating displays. The curators are obviously talented. There are also a half dozen out buildings with lots of info about shipyard functions, a 2-story Lobsterman museum, and even a playground. The two best parts are the full size minimalist statue of the tall ship, Wyoming (be sure to take the free tour or listen to it on an app), and the boat tour of the harbor (extra $$, but worth it). Use the very clean bathrooms or have some refreshments on the on-premesis food and snack shack. A nice way to spend an informative and delightful short afternoon. Plenty of parking. Gift shop is very good.

Popham Beach State Park is a rare geological wonder in Maine, featuring a long stretch of sandy beach bordered by the Kennebec and Morse rivers. Visitors can enjoy sunbathing with views of Fox and Wood islands, and even walk to Fox Island during low tide. The park's 529 acres offer ample space for activities like swimming and surfing in the rolling Atlantic waves.
lL Bean added a wonderful box in the center of the parking lot where you can borrow beach chairs,, umbrellas, games,... All free and return as you leave the beach. During summer months it is best to be there when they open at 9 am or after 1 pm when people start leaving, otherwise harder to get in and find parking. We love the soft sand, at low tide exploring islands, and kids enjoy the gentle waves. Lifeguard on duty during summer months to notify people of rip currents. We truly love this beach

Loved this beach !!
Seems like it gets very crowded, I went on an early Thursday afternoon and the place was packed.
However, there is plenty of parking. There are two bathroom houses. One on each end of the parking lots. They’re equipped with the outside water showers for washing off sand.
The actual beach itself is just magnificent. There is a sandy path that you can walk out towards a large rock structure. As you walk you can get waves crashing on either side of you.

Visiting area & came across this beach. Beautiful! There during low tide & just awesome to be able to walk across to the rock mount to get a better view of the lighthouse across the way. Busy with people sitting around and taking in a sunny day in October. The beach was officially closed so no fe was required but there was a box asking for donations- with donating- bathrooms were available to use & there is a rubber carpet path that extended & lead to beach - great surprise as my friend wheelchair bound as able to see the beach closer. Would loved to have seen high tide! Next time!

(My essay about Popham Beach) Popham Beach in Phippsburg Maine is so wonderfully dynamic and inspiring (to me). It's very different at low tide compared to high tide, and there are two entrances, so that's 4 combinations right there. If you enter on the left side there is a big fort to explore and you can walk out to see Georgetown across the bay, then eventually an island lighthouse, and an island mansion. The beach then curves :) At low tide you can walk out at the curve on a sandbar to a big rock to climb and get some elevation. Another lighthouse can be seen in the distance. So that's the left side. On the right side there are very nice facilities with bathrooms and changing rooms and plumbing as it is a state park with all those amenities. That side of the beach is awesome as well, you can go left and walk to the other beach, if you like a long beach walk. There are cool cabins to see on the way. If you enter on the right side and go right, it's a bit different too. A nice variety. So all together I feel Popham is the best beach in Maine and quite dynamic. I find it inspiring. Of course it's nicer in very warm weather :) Life's a beach.

It's a really great beach. Cool island during low tide to walk to--very spacious. The seagulls are a little aggressive. One took the sandwich right out of my 6 year olds hand. So my kids would probably give it one star. As a beach amazing. As an experience the family has mixed feelings.

Incredibly beautiful place! So picturesque! Bring your camera as there are Soo many photo ops here. On sight bathrooms and showers plus an outdoor rinse station make this an amazing stop!

One of Maines best beaches. If you come at low tide you can walk to an "island" that exposes a nice sandy trail. Plenty of tide pools and shallow water to explore. Locals like to try their hand at surfing with the tides coming in and out. DONT stay on the island to cone when the tide comes back in, you will get stranded on the rocks and the lifeguards will be mad, and you will become the maine attraction of the day as everyone points 👉 🫠
Be warned, the seagulls are fiesty and WILL try to take your food and open your bags looking for it.
There are public restrooms, showers, and lifeguards onsite.
Come early to beat the rush. When the parking lot fills up, no one else is allowed in, which is nice as it never seems to feel to overcrowded here.

Bathroom and changing area great. Cop wouldn't let a friend come join us on his motorcycle. His kids and wife were very disappointed 😞. Cop was a jerk. Around same time someone in our group was able to bring her car in from the road into the parking lot but not him?! Why? Attendants at the park we're nice but we all didn't understand after people were leaving why others couldn't come in when there were different spots.

Popham is a special, unique place: lovely sand beach, river meets sea, sandbar out to the adjacent rock island. Plus nearby cottages, an 1800s riverside fort, and a seafood restaurent down the way. Oh, and fantastic ocean& river views and breezes. I drive 1.5 hours from our lakefront cottage every summer!

The Fort area and small adjacent beach is getting very congested and less accessible due to new construction of private homes there! The shoreline is also looking more worn away. High tide takes much of the fun 'private' secluded beach spots away ... The main beach is beautiful! They've installed a new covering on the walking pathway from parking lot to beach which is fabulous! They also have a very good Lifeguard and Ranger presence lately. The large inlet lagoon/wading area has alot of fish in it ... there are alot of areas to explore along this beach and it has been a favorite in my family for 30+ years!

This place is beautiful!!! I think it's great that they let horses and dogs use the beach in the off months when people wouldn't really want to be there anyway. What a great idea! We can't wait to go back again! The views are awesome! Just make sure you pay attention to the tides. You are only supposed to ride on the beach within a few hours (before or after) low tide.

So I got to check out a bunch of jewelry and eventually we made our way to LL Bean outlet store.
The parking for this outlet is in the basement. There is a parking garage there that you can use for free and it has an elevator that will bring you right into the plaza. The plaza also has bathrooms.

Not a good variety of stores. Maybe if the town were willing to modernize, it's stores they would draw in better business. I see adjacent towns with much more foot traffic because they cater to all not just wealthy Freeport people. This place used to be worth peoples time now it's a ghost town. Also stop letting llbean control everything. They have gone way downhill.

So we visited in late May on a Thursday and so being slightly "off season" may impact your experience.
We stopped to visit a few outlet shops and had no issues before lunch finding free parking.
I did notice some store fronts for some outlets had been closed. It is probably due to the shift to online shopping during the pandemic. Some retailers are shifting where customers can find their best deals and selections.
As expected, Freeport is beautiful and clean and, as a friend, would say a nice place for some "retail therapy "

Love Freeport. Grew up coming here. Still come here to shop, eat, see parades and Christmas lights. I've even worked at a couple of the stores here.

Freeport Outlets is a fascinating mix of old downtown Freeport and New outlet shops, and stores , underground parking, cinema 🎥 theaters, restaurants and more. It's outdoors and very well-done. The immense open paved parking lots can accommodate car trucks and RV Campers to!o

OK outlet mall, not many real bargains. The craft store is fun. Make sure you check out the consignment and used clothing stores nearby for the real deals.

I totally love the stores. I also am sooooo happy we were able to bring our dog into the stores. Some stores even had water dishes for pets. Patagonia has a long wait to get in due to COVID (only 20 people at a time). Worth the trip though.

Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park is a 200-acre natural haven located in Freeport, Maine. Donated to the town 50 years ago, it boasts woodland, estuary, and rocky coast landscapes. The park offers guided nature walks and is renowned for osprey-watching on Googins Island during the summer nesting season. Visitors can explore miles of trails, with the Casco Bay trail being a favorite due to its stunning ocean and island views.
Lots of easy trails that were great with a dog. Beautiful views of Casco Bay, overall a very peaceful place. Informative signs throughout with info on the history, wildlife, etc.

This was my first time visiting Wolfe's Neck Woods.
It is a very nice place with many different trails to choose from.
I hiked 2.5 miles around the shores
As you can see from the photos that I provided, It is quite beautiful.
It is Dog friendly as long as you take care of any deposits your pet might like to leave.
I talked with several people along the way who stated that it is one of their most favorite places to visit.
Yes! They do have facilities incase you were wondering.

Impeccably maintained family park with wheelchair friendly walking path, picnic area with grills, a mowed play field and breathtaking fresh and salt water views. Water access challenging to some less nimble older folk but I saw small children and adults of all ages traversing. Geology is fascinating if you're into it and the combination of river and ocean environments makes it a great nature walk. Dont miss nesting osprey just off shore. Pack up the kids and the charcoal and make a day for this exceptional place.

Wolfe's Neck State Park is fabulous! It's very easy to get to, the drive through the Freeport countryside is very scenic. I really like this park; it's a very relaxing walk through the woods. There are several tree varieties, and many different types of fungi as well. Some of the trees are quite large, and I hope others appreciate them as much as I do. There are paths down to the water's edge, where you can walk along the rocky shoreline. Plenty of people bring their dogs, and there are places along the trails to sit on wooden benches. There's a small island across from some benches that is home to an Osprey nest, where you can observe Ospreys when they are in the area. A few places on the trail have steps carved out of stones, but I wouldn't call the majority of the trails strenuous. It is a popular place to visit. I believe there is a public restroom, but I haven't used it so I'm not sure if it has plumbing or is a vault toilet.
Update: the restroom is plumbed, but I also saw an outhouse for use during the off-season.

Woodland and coastal trails though the park. So far I think this is a very best park from the Portland Maines area. Clams sells are near the campground area

This is one of our favorite places to get a nice walk through the woods as well as see and smell the ocean. Trails are great for hiking and there are quite a few stone stair-like areas and wooden bridges.

This is definitely worth a visit. It's a gorgeous drive to get there. Friendly ranger. Easy parking and restrooms. The hikes are short and extremely well marked, but there are maps too. We took a few trails and spent about an hour on the beach, exploring and climbing on the rocks.
Lisa Whelpley — Google review
Really nice, family-friendly park! The larger loop around allows several overlooks of the water and has stairs down to the shore where you can scamper over rocks and see an Osprey nest (in the summer). Trails are very well marked and flat, and if you do most of the trails you can hit approx. 4 miles. Looking forward to visiting this one each season!

Great park to hike through! Very family friendly and tons of great views of both the river and through the forest. Dog friendly on leash and trails are easy to navigate and clean! Highly reccomend for anyone visiting the area.

Beautiful hiking with great views. Not terribly challenging, so even our 4 year old could do it independently. Lots of choices for different routes. Can go right down to the beach and explore too.

Wow ! This is one of my favorite state parks so far ! Absolutely stunning views!
There are two relatively large parking areas. Lot 1 and lot 2.
There is a bathroom outhouse next to lot 2.
I did the North Loop, to White Pines Trail, to Casco Bay trail along the coastline and then did the full Harraseeket trail. I loved all portions. The Casco Bay views were fantastic.
None of the trails are difficult by any means. Mostly flat-ish trails with some winding paths here and there. There are also interactive signs describing the geology and the ecosystem in the area. Very informative.
Plenty of people with their dogs and their kids walking around so it is very friendly for these activities.
It was a beautiful mostly sunny day when I went and there weren’t many muddy areas. Just a few spots here and there.
There is also a large field by lot 2.
Picnic areas and picnic tables are scattered throughout.

Very beautiful place to catch a sunset. I visited with my family and we enjoyed the short handicapped accessible trail to get to two very nice look out points. I wish we had more time there but they close at 7:30. The water was nice to see and it was a good look at the rocky shores of Maine. It was quite there as well.

Even on a rainy and overcast day, this park is fantastic! The trails are well maintained and well marked. There is also a good amount of placards and scenic areas for photographs. It's also very close to downtown Freeport, so if you're new to the area there are many great restaurants and shops not too far away! Definitely don't pass up this park!

I really enjoyed this beautiful park. When you get down to the water there are so many beautiful places to admire. Whether it be from the ocean, the rock formation or the birds that take home to that area. The people were very friendly and many of them had dogs walking with them. It was a great park to go alone or with your family.

Went to walk with the dogs. Had a great time. Found a little beach off one of the little side trails and the pup got to swim and dry off on the walk back to the lot. Small entrance fee but it was free for Maine residents the day we went.
Maine Beer Company is a popular spot in Freeport, Maine, offering American-style ales in their tasting room with views into the production facility. The brewery also features craft pizza options, including the favorite Ebb Tide pizza with lamb, tomatoes, feta, and more. With a variety of beers on tap and a limited selection of food items like pizza and salads available, it's an excellent place to enjoy drinks and delicious bites.
Stopped in while visiting from Delaware. This was a bucket list visit stop and it lived up to expectations. Maine Beer Co. is a fairly simple place. They repeatedly have the same options which they focus on perfectly. The result is some truly excellent beer. They also focus on sustainability which is awesome. They have pizza available as well. If you are deciding what to get, Dinner, and Second Dinner are the best options in my opinion.

Decided to try out Maine Beer Company while in the area shopping and on the way to a few other breweries. The space inside was beautiful with tons of seating and food available on site as well.
In terms of beer, everything we tried was of course top notch, however I will say the variety could be improved. If you love IPAs and other similar brews, you'll love the options available. I will also say that if you're expecting a conventional brewery vibe, you will be surprised. The atmosphere was much closer to an airy upscale restaurant.
Fun time overall, likely wouldn't make a specific trip to visit again.

I really enjoyed my visit to Maine Beer Co. I will definitely come back next time I'm in this part of the country. The beers were excellent, the atmosphere was great, and the staff was extremely helpful and friendly. While I did not have pizza while I was there, that have a good menu as well. The patio is dog friendly.

Very cool experience! The young, hipster crowd vibe was very evident, yet the music was classic 80s, making the place inclusive of a larger demographic. They even accommodated us without a reservation on a busy Sunday afternoon. Service was quick and friendly. Fire-grilled pizzas with avant guard toppings (as well as traditional) were excellent and if your spouse is a beer drinker but you're not, they do have wine and seltzer choices on the menu. Overall, a great outing!

This brewer is absolutely immaculate. The atmosphere is so clean and refreshing with wonderful views, artwork, and plenty of space to explore. Their eccentric pizzas on the menu are an absolute must. Don't be afraid to deviate from your traditional pizza, they are absolutely worth it. The beers are very clean and well done. And the staff are all super helpful and friendly.

A spot we had marked to visit for some time and Maine Beer Company did not disappoint. Really cool building with both indoor, outdoor, and outdoor covered seating. Dogs welcome in the outdoor and outdoor covered areas which was great! They even have dog bowls available for your 4 legged friend. Food was great, selections from salads, light brewery style apps, and pizzas. Recommend the new corn and chorizo pizza - 10/10. Beer is fantastic - not the cheapest beer but certainly for the beer aficionado that appreciates a good locally made beer. Will return. Reservations recommended!!
Side note - we visited towing a 35’ fifth wheel camper. Across from the brewery there is a park and ride where we were able to park and walk across the street. Do not recommend pulling into the brewery with a trailer.

Maine Beer has been on my list for a long time. If the opportunity comes up, it is totally worth your time to visit. Beautiful building, friendly staff, solid pours, good pizza, and great vibe inside. I'd rate the experience a 11/10 if I could, and hope to be back in the future. Enjoyed rare beers with my wife, margherita pizza, and fresh shucked oysters (on Wednesdays) with blueberry mignonette. Friendly servers who helped me pick out a case to go. Great job team, solid work!

Iconic. Absolutely worth going out of your way or making a special trip. The beers are SO CAREFULLY and lovingly made. I had a Pilsner that was bright, light and full of flavor with a the most crisp and clean finish. The pizza was delightful — crispy crust, well-made marinara, just-melted (and not gummy!) mozzarella, topped with fruity olive oil. Kid and dog friendly, and just PLEASANT. Make a reservation if you’re coming during the busy season.

I was pleasantly pleased with Maine Beer Company. The food was good and great atmosphere. We were unable to reserve a table because it was so popular. However, we managed to get one of the free-for-all tables within about 15 minutes.

Large, cavernous space with lots of seating inside and lesser outside. A large artsy fountain (mettalic tree-bush?) completes the shopping mall food court vibe. They have a unique system here, you have to be seated by the host and they note your table number on the menu they give you.
Its self-serve counter service to order beer, food and if you want food you need to know your table number so they can bring it to you. Beer selections were adequate and the pizzas are tasty although pricey. A $12 12" cheese clocks in at 15+ somehow? If you just want a more chill beer session there is a first-come area in the upper, outside tent.

A bit of a hike outside of Portland , but we’ll worth the drive just to see one of the most stunning brewery taproom / restaurant you’ll visit on the east coast. However, for how large this operation is and for isolated local… I was expecting more options on the tap list (about six unique beers were available). Dress is casual to weekend formal.

During the summer of 2014 we made our first of many visits to Maine Beer Company. They had a small pizza oven in the front of their parking lot. Picnic tables were placed between it and the brewery. A small retail operation was located in their brewery. Peeper and their award winning Lunch were most popular. While “Doing what’s right”, and maintaining their values, the Maine Beer Company has expanded and grown into a premier brewery with a variety of excellent beers and knowledgeable employees. It’s a must visit for everyone.

Excellent place to eat, drink and be merry. The beer was great; my party had one four-beer flight and one full beer and all were enjoyable. They serve wine and a variety of Maine sodas as well as offer free water stations. We only had a soft pretzel, which was delicious, and several parties around us had pizzas that looked really good.
The place was clean and well maintained. The first floor had bigger tables to accommodate larger groups. It was spacious and the right level of loud to bring kids in.
A huge bonus is their sustainability and climate-oriented approach. They have clearly marked compost and recycling bins alongside the trash. They also do not accept tips for the staff but you can donate your tip amount to the environmental non-profits.

I truly fell in love with this brewery. I've been to a couple of them and this one has been the most unique one by far. The pizza is exquisite, but we can't forget about the beer - balanced to perfection. The staff are very welcoming and helpful and there's awesome merch as well!

This place was recommended by a fellow brewery guest at another brewery and this did not disappoint! The ambiance of this brewery was like none we’ve ever experienced on the West Coast. Visiting this place just for the vibe alone is worth it. The food took quite a while to arrive from the moment we ordered (approx 30 min for 1 pizza) but it was really good! We had the pork and apple pizza which was unique for us but well balanced. The beer was good but not the best we’ve ever had. However, I’d still recommend this place for visitors to the area who enjoy beer. I’d also suggest eating on the second floor!

I’ve been eating here for a while and the pizza is always crazy good, the salads slap, and the beer is probably the best in Maine. Anyway, they had this mortadella sandwhich on the menu today and they knocked it out of the park. The perfect mix between spicy and savoy. They use a pizza dough for the bread too 🤯. Just when I thought this brewery couldn’t get any better, they deliver again!
Here’s a pic of what’s left after I ate the first HALF:

Small casino featuring 24/7 gambling via table games & slot machines, plus a bar & restaurant.
They sent me an email for a free room a couple of weeks ago, I've heard of casinos doing this before, but never actually had one offered to me before. The room was very nice in my opinion for the ~150$ per night rate. Everything felt clean and the furnishings were modern.

My first trip to the casino in at least two years. The casino is smoke free which is great . The bar inside gaming area has poker at bar which is nice as your enjoying a cocktail.
Wasn't to lucky at bar but was fortunate to win a small jackpot on the slots. I'll be going back and want to try the pub which has many nice bears and the food looked so good..

Staff are wonderful and patient and attentive with your needs. I gave 3 stars as it's non smoking, and small and it just doesn't POP like a casino should when u walk in. You almost are disappointed that there isn't more lights more sounds more art and crazy rugs, it's just very blazay and I seem to never win and money.
---> response to the reply from casino staff, <--- ty for responding with your professional and candid comments, I always upgrade my reviews to those who respond. Please let me clarify the decor isn't bad at all. It's a perception opinion and your establishment is wonderful from the rugsnto the arc of the casino. Terrible work environment honestly the worse place I have ever worked. The director of security Chuck is one of the most unprofessional bosses I have had, he came in at 2:30am fresh off the plane of his latest vacation with out telling my supervisor I was being spoken to that night and blinded sided us and proceeded to tell me I wasn’t meant for the job. He doesn’t care about his employees or there well being. Only reason I stayed for as long as I did was for the supervisors on grave shift and the team we had. Also no holiday pay or shift differential, for a billion dollar company they like to pinch penny’s when it comes to their employees pay.

Didn't stay at the hotel but did go to the casino. Staff were nice and helpful and the slots seemed loose. Left with more than we came with, which is rare. Bathrooms were clean. Atmosphere seemed to be lacking excitement that other casinos, even of their size, have.

First, we only went to the casino, did not stay at the hotel. The casino is small but worth going for a couple of hours. They have some modern slots that are fun to play. There is no free alcohol. It is 30+ minutes from Portland.

Contrary to other reviews I have read we found the rooms to be clean and comfortable. Maid services offered every other day. This location is convenient if you want to enjoy the casino. It is 45 minutes from the water. On rainy days it gets very crowded as it does on weekends since there are limited entertainment options. Generally an older crowd which should not be a surprise. Plenty of slot machines and there are usually a few table games that are open. We enjoyed the pub for dinner one night where we had chicken parmesan and mushroom ravioli which were both good. If you visit in the fall you have the bonus of the foliage as a wonderful attraction to go along with the casino.

Having a good time little strict on the alcohol.and on the floor they use a machine to pour and booze is either watered or not a regular shot. If I drank 4 white Russians in 3 hrs I'd be smashed...not even a buzz! But then no hang over either! Still fun hit big on the slots a few times.

What they did well, the staff was excellent. The pub food was good too. Although I have been to casino's across the country and this is the first one to charge for a drink while I was actively gambling and the hotel is overpriced for what it is. $300+ a night with no pool and the room was mediocre at best. Sometimes your first visit is your last. I was at Treasure island in August and am scheduled to be back in February. I've been to Mohawk 10 times because it's an excellent value. I just had a difficult time with value here.

Stopped again after saying 5 years ago I wouldn't but was thinking maybe it changed.......wrong! Whatever you do do waste your money in their slot machines.
5 years ago when we stopped me and the wife both took 500.00 in and was both done and out of money within an hour. Hit absolutely nothing on 1k!
Again, we figured to give it a shot a couple weeks ago and this time only took 300.00 each. 600.00 bucks and zip! Not as much as even a 50 dollar hit! That's just a little bit ridiculous. We've been to casinos all across the United States and this one ........by far... is the worst. And if your looking for something to drink....take your own because there's no one offering.

A few days ago my wife and I stayed for our third visit to the Oxford Casino. This most recent trip will unfortunately be our last. First I must say the staff is exceptionally courteous and kind. The casino room floor is very clean and the food is great. Our issue is with the room we stayed in. The mattress and pillows were so worn in and uncomfortable that we woke at 5am with sore backs and necks. I'm in my mid 30s and very fit, and I've never had such pain from a mattress in my life. Zero support. Additionally, our shower was gross. The floor tiles grout was filled with mildew and was in serious disrepair. We could not shower out of health concerns due to the state of it. (See attached photos). One of our table side lamps was broken, and there was hair in the sink. A few other things to mention was the ATM on the floor was broken, and the vending machine did not dispense a drink I was charged for. It was not a great stay which is a shame because it was our vacation week and we had looked forward to it for some time. Again, great staff, but poor room conditions.

My husband & I had never been here before but decided to give it a try. Cute place as far as the casino goes (we did not go to the hotel). However, trying to navigate the casino with a wheelchair was a less then desirable experience. The layout does not accommodate someone in a wheelchair. It's more of a fight then an enjoyable experience & the sidewalks arnt great for a wheelchair either. However if you don't have a wheelchair there are lots of games to choose from.

I thought I was gonna love this place, but it's a hotel first, with a casino second. Ended up staying the night, I did not want to cash advance on my card using my pin, so the teller told me I couldn't after producing my valid state id, my passport, my firearms ID card, and my police officers Union State id card. There answer was this, since you've told me you know your pin number, I cannot complete the transaction for you, even though if I used my pin. I'd still have to go back to the cage for the money. We said we'd spend the night, drive to Logan and I write this from the brand new sphere hotel which comped me my two night stay after telling them the story, all for a red eye 169.00 round trip airfare and after losing about 2k it was worth every penny

FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THAT'S HOLY, TAKE ME OFF YOUR MAILING LIST!
We arrived at 3:15pm: check in staff were wonderful. Guest Services staff were wonderful. The room is very average and the casino is small but has a nice mix of brand new slots and old time slots. In the morning, I went down to the 1st floor to get some chips. I'm in my pajamas, still in a dream state. The checkpoint staff, to get in to the casino, would not let me in without an I.D. even though I had last nights stamp on my hand. He said "That's a different color" I stated that I NEEDED an ID last night to GET that color. The cafe was literally 100 feet away! Still would not let me in. So, I walked over to the front desk, to two staff AND a manager and they said, as well, "Sorry! You need an ID to get in!" I don't get upset at much unless it's based on complete stupidity. THEN I get angry. This was simply very bad personality behavior, topped with no support for their paying customer and poor customer service. As you can see from the photo, it states guests MAY be subject to an ID check. I JUST WANTED ******* POTATO CHIPS! So basically, night staff; great. Morning staff; bad.

Resturant Pub! Casino chips, if you like to lick a salt block with dry beef! This is your dish. Was not enough sour cream to cover it up. Dry potato chips that were chewy and very salty. Take it from a southern big man that this food was lack luster and buying a burger and fries down the road would be better. Wish I had pictures, but please try something else for 24$ Casino chips. 👎*** Coworkers enjoyed them a few nights later. So maybe just a chef having a bad night, I tried them and much better the next go. Been there every night this week. Food has been really good.
The Maine Wildlife Park is a vast and serene sanctuary situated amidst the woods. It offers an opportunity to observe indigenous wildlife in their natural habitat. The park, which is not quite like a conventional zoo, features several animals, including moose, black bears, bald eagles, cougars, lynx and beaver. These creatures are unable to be released into the wild due to varying reasons such as being injured or raised in captivity.
This place was great! It’s like a small zoo but all the animals are rescued in Maine and can’t be put back in the wild. They come from injury, living with people, or they are orphans. This is a fantastic stop for the kids and it’s very interactive and informative. Even one of the volunteers came out and talked with us about the Moose! I highly recommend a visit here!

This is a great spot for people of all ages. The zoo is easily navigated and has a moose. I've never seen one before and was really excited to finally get to. Some of the smaller enclosures didn't seem to be ideal for the animals, but you have to appreciate the state of Maine caring for animals that would not make it out in the wild. I highly recommend checking this place out.

Maine Wildlife Park is a great, affordable spot for a family day trip or a date. The signage in the park has a nostalgic summer-camp charm, and the gift shop has affordable trinkets for all ages. Seeing animals that would be native to the area is a delightful change from your typical zoo experience. It’s also comforting to know that the animals kept here are not stolen from
their natural habitats, they are animals that would otherwise not survive in the wild due to injury etc. I was also pleased to see that the park wasn’t overcrowded even on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Plenty of space for everyone, no need to wait an hour to get a decent view of the exhibits. I highly recommend visiting this place!

Great way to kill 2-3 hours, for a fantastic price. Everyone on site was very friendly and helpful. We were here in mid october so a couple of the exhibits were closed due to the season but everyone else showed up! I only had one suggestion to staff, and that is to let you know in the park before the long walk to the bottom of the fish ladder that you need quarters to feed the fish. Our daughter loved this part and we didn't have enough with us. Other than that, bring your quarters and have fun!

Surprisingly nice little place in our little town. Rainy days are the best as the animals are so lively! There is also a list of the animals, their names, age, and why they’re there which I think it’s a unique added aspect. The enclosures are decent sizes except the turtles in the showcases near the bathrooms. Those are not acceptable. The turtles are only there for in season but stay in there day & night. They are surely miserable.. The enclosures are kept natural which is different and I think a great benefit for the animals. A lot of their animals are opportunistic so it’s nice to see them in more natural environments. One of the mountain lions even chased a chipmunk while we were there! (Video attached)
There is a large dirt parking lot with ample parking. No pets allowed, of course. They are also cash only and offer veteran discounts. It’s $10 for adult entry and $5 for veteran. I am unsure about kids or other discounts. There is an ATM right outside the entry gate. Inside the park is a bathroom, snack shack with basic snacks like ice cream, chips, granola bars, water bottles, etc. Occasionally they serve basic sandwiches. (PB&J, Turkey & cheese, etc), and a gift shop. Staff is always pleasant. Grounds are always clean and animals always look well fed and engaged.
They also released Big Al! Yay!

This place is a tremendous find! We paid $10 each to get in and were up CLOSE to Byron their bull moose and their 2 black bears. They have wolves, beaver, a fisher cat, lynx and big cats, owls, eagles, turtles, deer, snakes, peacocks, and turkeys! You're able to go at your own pace and volunteer docents are available to provide personalized information. It's obvious that everyone there really enjoys what they do, and the wildlife are well kept. I'm sure they would prefer to be outside of cages, but as a sanctuary the animals are primarily rescues that can't safely be let back into the wild, so this is the next best thing. We loved our time there.

It's a beautiful park area with nice facilities supporting education and families with small children. However, as of this date, many exhibits are uninhabited. Many trails are cut off for development or reconstruction.
I recommend going early when it's cooler for a better chance to see the animals. There is a snack bar, but it's mostly candy and ice cream. Take a picnic instead.

Awesome each time we have been. Great prices. Animals are well taken care of if it’s there forever home or just healing to be released back to the wild

Finally made it here on Juneteenth. As a public holiday in the summer, this meant that the toddler to adult ratio was very high. I could see that if you bring little kids, it could take a while to get through, but for adults it took us less than an hour. But for $10 a ticket, it still seems worthwhile. Also note that during the day at is pretty likely that a lot of animals are sleepy or actually sleeping. Many of the lynx were passed out or sleeping and hiding. It’s cool to be able to see actual Maine wildlife. I was less enthused by the stuffed versions of the animals lingering not terribly far from the live ones, what must they be thinking if they can see their deceased compatriots? I had also imagined that this was kind of a sanctuary, but there are no introductions as to where the animals came from or what their situation is, that would be a nice addition, so to make it feel less zoo-like.

Wow, this exceeded expectations. We visited in the rain and it was so much fun! Everything is outside with the exception of a few exhibits. The park is very clean and well kept. There are picnic tables and a small store with treats. The staff was very friendly and able to answer questions. Bathrooms were also very clean. The enclosures we very nice and clean. We even had a deer walk right up to the fence to say hi and the Moose was very close. Friendly place to visit for all ages, especially little kids. This is the best facility we’ve visited. Can’t wait to go back during our next visit to ME!

We went here because we wanted to see a moose. Byron the Moose did not disappoint... except for the fact he wouldn't stand up ..just preferred to sit and sleep. Bears, cats and birds were cool. The staff was very friendly, especially the woman at the ticket booth. Be sure to bring cash. They have an ATM available. They don't take credit cards. An enjoyable walk through the grounds looking at animals.

Always a great visit there! Definitely worth the $10(for adults), get to get your steps in and see some maine wildlife up close! If you haven't been by, take advantage of a nice day and go visit! Cash only but there's an ATM at the entrance!

A lot of the cages were unoccupied at the little mammals area. We were starting to think it was being a waste of time when we arrived to the bobcat and linx area and we could start to see real animals.
The bald eagle was awesome and we were lucky to see it being fed.
Bears were changing fur and it was a hot day, but they had a pond in their place to refresh.
The visit was worthy when we saw a magnificent moose really close to us.
We finally enjoyed the visit despite we thought we wouldn't at the beginning.

What a wonderful clean Wildlife Park.
If I lived in the area I would have an annual pass. We enjoyed all the exhibits and information provided. Fun day trip.

Me, my husband and mom visited here this past weekend, we had a wonderful time. My main reason was to see the moose since I've never seen one in person before and he was so cute! We went when they opened so it wasn't to busy, by the time we left there was a decent amount of people with kids having parties. Its definitely a nice and cheap place to visit if your in the area. A decent amount of rare animas to see to, very clean property.

This was amazing thanks for a great day. I grew up in Seattle. Home of famous woodland park zoo. I have high standards for animal care and habitat. This was great and enjoyable to see the happy healthy animals of Maine. Thank you again. Very handicapped friendly. My clients lived it.
Portland Head Light is a significant historical landmark located in Fort Williams Park on Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Commissioned by President George Washington in 1791, it is the oldest among the 52 active lighthouses in Maine. The keepers' house has been transformed into a museum that tells the story of the region's maritime and military history.
You must visit this exquisite place. You will pay for parking but it's nominal, I think we paid $4 for a couple hours. Get the Passport Parking app and you can pay right from there. You are able to explore the grounds and get right up to the Lighthouse. The views are unbelievable especially in the winter. Although the last time we saw it was in July from a boat so I could be wrong! I believe the actual Lighthouse was closed when we went so we just explored the trails around it. There is a Cliff Walk which runs along the cliff's edge that you can take. Be careful in the snow; it's very slippery! There is also a sledding hill with perfect unobstructed views of the ocean. Additionally there are many flat snowy areas to build snowmen or have a snowball fight. In the summer I can imagine picnics or just strolling around to enjoy the views. The neighborhood it's located in has beautiful homes if you're like me and enjoy looking at dream homes.

Be prepared for absolutely stunning views of the ocean as far as your eyes can see, waves crashing against the jagged rocks of the cliffs and a beautifully restored historic lighthouse perched high above it all. This is definitely one that you want to see if in the area. It was quite busy on the weekend and we could hardly get any photos without a ton of people walking in them. If you really want some great views of this lighthouse, make sure to take the cliff side trail. It’s well worth the short time it takes and you’ll be rewarded with spectacular views.

This place is beautiful. Free to get in to the park, just pay for parking ($2). Well maintained and worth the visit no matter what time of year. There is also a small swimming beach, an old fort to explore, and plenty of open grassy areas where I often see families playing with kids and dogs. Great spots for photo shoots. Plus there’s usually at least one food truck on the property.

This is our second trip to this iconic lighthouse (built in 1791), which is noted to be the most photographed lighthouse in the country. It is stunning, and no matter how many times you visit, you will stand in awe of how majestic it is. We have visited at least 50 to 75 lighthouses, and if I could only visit one knowing what I know now, it would be this one. A lighthouse is not to be overlooked.
Concession stands abound in case you get there and you forget to pack a picnic lunch.
There is plenty of paid parking.

This is attached to Fort Williams park. I made a post about the Park and all the comments apply to this post as well.
In addition, you can walk up to the lighthouse and see some historical markers, and the building and FOG HORN up close.
Unfortunately the BIG HORN did not blast while we were standing there but I imagine it would be loud and scare children and little dogs 🤣
The building is well maintained and the views are really stunning. We saw some sea birds in the ocean waters diving underwater but not much other sea life from atop the cliffs.
Bring a nice camera for the views and take plenty of photos.

Beautiful picturesque light house with cool looking rocks facing the ocean. Before the lighthouse there was a hilly area where people had sleighs and were having fun. There was plenty parking and since it was a holiday, no one was attending the parking lot. I loved the color of the lighthouse and it had a beautiful view. I highly recommend coming either in the winter for sledding or in the summer for BBQ.

The surrounding view is breathtaking! Climbing around is fun. We wore hiking shoes and felt quite comfortable climbing the rocks. I saw some people managed with sandals and sneakers but I totally recommend wearing hiking boots. There is a small gift shop here and an ice cream truck nearby. We parked at the 1st lot we saw but there are more parking nearer to the light house. Self paid parking.

Such a beautiful area to visit. It was so lovely at sunset. There are picnic tables on the hill for you to enjoy a meal and a couple food trucks are there as well. This lighthouse is a fabulous one to see in person up close.

This was a beautiful stop on a winter day. We brought my dog who enjoyed smelling around (on leash) and were able to wander some trails that were packed down despite the snow. Roads were well maintained even in proximity to winter weather.

Visited Portland Head Light House and Ft. Williams and it was awesome seeing such an historic place and the iconic light house. Unfortunately, we visited on a time when the museum was closed. But despite this, we still had a great time. Will definitely come back again during the summer.

Historic lighthouse located in a huge park with walking trails. There were three spots right by the lighthouse that were free parking, while the other lots were paid parking (via a parking app). Came here on a Wednesday and it was raining so there weren’t too many other people there. The museum wasn’t open when we went, but it was still cool to see the lighthouse from various angles. It’s a very picturesque spot.
If you walk along the trail (compact dirt track), you’ll come across a mansion as well as another area where you could picnic. There were also portapotties by the picnic area. The beach is rocky so wear comfy shoes if you’re planning on talking a stroll. There are benches along the trail if you want to sit and have a main character moment.
Overall, a great sight for first-timers and tourists.

This was our second trip here. Was a rainy day this time, sunny the first day. Definitely better on a sunny day! Still worth the walk around and a great Park like atmosphere. Pay parking is cheap. Be sure to eat the lobster rolls at the top of the hill :-)

If you enjoy a lighthouse this is the stop! Sprang a couple hours walking around and taking in the scenery! Loved this lighthouse. Quite a bit of traffic and people so be patient to get a great picture.
Explored the old forts as well.

Really nice spot to enjoy the view.
There is a rocky area you can walk on and sit by the water, or walk on a dirt road with a bunch of benches.
There is a parking lot for cars, and some electric charging stations. However, you have to download an app and there is no signal there so you have to walk around to get signal first then charge.
The staff is kind, and there is an ice cream truck nearby.

If you opt out of the museum it's free to roam about the park. It was a lightly rainy day and it was lovely. Make sure to bring a warm jacket for that cool breeze. The staff was super sweet. If you need to use the restroom the only ones are the porta potties around the parking lot. Enjoy a nice walk around and take plenty of pictures.

The lighthouse is beautiful. It is free to visit. There are lots of people visiting and taking photos. You couldn't go inside when we visited, but I don't know if there are times of the year when you can go inside. There are portable pottys there, which people were using, but I didn't, so I can't speak to how clean they were. There are walking trails on either side of the lighthouse, so you can see it from different vantage points as well. It's very pretty overall and I really enjoyed the visit. If you are in the area and get a chance to go, you should definitely go.

Lovely lighthouse with a surrounding park. Easy parking close by, but also nice walking paths around the water should you choose to go that way instead. Worth the visit even when the lighthouse itself is closed.

🌊Beautiful View - Nature Trails, Flowers, Lighthouse🌊
I visited the Portland Head Lighthouse during a bus tour stop (and only regret not having even *more* time to enjoy the outdoors). This location served as a military based until 1964, and is now maintained by the Cape Elizabeth Historical Preservation Society.
The wind coming off of the ocean is so refreshing. Every angle of the lighthouse is photogenic. There's also a series of walking paths that branch away from the lighthouse (Fort Williams Park), including picnic benches, shady trees, flowers, and views of the ocean. If you're able to get out to the coastline, do it. The view, the weather, and the sense of calm are all well worth it.

Listed as the first lighthouse enacted by the federal government. A definite must see in your visit the Portland.
The park is massive, multiple locations to see but the lighthouse attracted all of us.
The waves crashing, the distant islands, the fast winds. All helped created a memorable experience

Great place, always draws a big crowd. Even today when the wind was biting cold. One can just imagine the history that has played at this location over the decades past. A fort, a lighthouse, several islands, an old bean factory all visible. Not mention the awe of the ocean. I’m going to keep this review going with repeat visits in the future.

We paid to park at the beach, walked the beach to get there, and then were blocked from walking it by an older gentleman. There was an unofficial sign that was laminated that said "path closed today". The man had on a yellow flagging vest on and a clipboard, he told us that it was closed due to erosion. But when we went back to the beach and told the person taking money at the beach, they said they hadn't heard about the erosion, and weren't notified of anything from the police. And from talking to someone else, supposedly the gated community that lives near the cliff walk, doesn't want hikers near their houses. So, we think we were scammed into thinking there were dangerous conditions and this man was just paid to stand there looking official to keep tourists away. There was no official state or police sign, and this person stood in our way and basically threatened us from walking on the path. We tried to walk it on a Saturday.

There is no public parking, so there is no way to access this trail unless you live in the area, or park at the beach ($9 a person for out of state residents) a mile or two down the road and then hike to the trail.

This on the cliff walk website: “No bikes or wheeled vehicles are allowed on the Cliff Walk. No unattended bikes are to be left by the entrance area.” So you must walk to this spot from the public beaches or somehow carry your bike with you along the rocky trail.

We had a great time touring long lake on the songo river queen! They didn’t mind that we brought our own snacks and they have a little bar on board too. The guide was very informative but, sadly, it was tough to hear him when other people were talking loudly. Luckily we went on a day when mount Washington was visible. Be sure to arrive early to find parking and get good seats. Next time I’d like to take the longer tour...

Had my wife's surprise birthday party there and the venue is perfect for larger crowds! All of the staff and captain were amazing with everyone. They even let the little kids "drive" the boat!! Very accommodating with letting us decorate and organize the boat how we want. Perfect day and would highly recommend it for big parties!! Thanks to the entire Songo River Ii team for making the day so special!

The Good: Not a bad cruise for the price and the tour guide and captain were helpful and friendly. The kids liked the cruise since they were given the chance to drive the boat and the onboard bar with snacks was nice. Overall pleasant cruise even on a rainy day, which was the case when we went.
The Bad: We had a couple of elderly people in our party and due to the rain they could not attend the cruise. I was very disappointed when the owner refused to refund us the tickets from our online purchase ahead of time. I do not expect the public daily cruises to fill up and would NOT recommend anyone purchasing tickets online ahead of your trip. I also expected the boat to travel the whole length of Long Lake, but it only went half way and back. It would have been nice to see a cruise travel plan on the website to set expectations. Also there were a lot of elderly/seniors on board that were very rude to the younger folks and kids.

Goose Rocks Beach is a publicly accessible beach situated in Kennebunkport, Maine. It is neighbored by Cape Porpoise to the southwest and Granite Point to the northeast. The area is largely populated with seasonal residents from nearby states and Canadian provinces during summertime.
Long-running indoor-outdoor museum featuring restored public transit vehicles & artifacts.
Our toddler loves all things trains, so the Trolley Museum was a must stop for us AND it was a rousing success! If you even have a remote curiosity about trains/trolleys/transportation, this is a must visit!!!! They have a rebuilt track with restored trolleys from throughout the United States that the volunteer conductors will give you an enjoyable history about!
While you're riding the trolleys (which is unlimited rides while you're there as part of your ticket) you'll get a great overview of the history of the museum and the trolley line itself. The whole ride is about 35-45 minutes. In addition to that, there's tons of trolleys being restored or have been restored on-site that you can checkout as well as buses and other vehicles. There's restored railroad crossings and so much more. This a worthwhile visit that has left at least our toddler begging for us to take him again!

Staff is incredibly friendly and there’s a lot to see. Everyone we spoke with was very knowledgeable and answered any and all questions we had during our trolley ride. Only complaint is the trail was a bit hard to follow, even with the map, as it wasn’t well marked.

I thought this was a fascinating museum, covering trolleys in the world's first and largest museum of mass transit vehicles. It was fun to walk through some of them and hear about the history of transportation. They do run seasonally - opening in May, 2024. They also run seasonal events.

I don’t know why we have waited to come here throughout the years visiting Maine. This is truly a national treasure. They have been trying to keep the spirit alive with trolleys. Many open spaces to have kids and adults walk through the history of trolleys and other older transportation equipment. They have procured and few from other countries as well. I really liked one car from Manchester NH. The ornate decorations speaks out to what the ride must have been on Manchester Street-NH. Tom was a pleasure to have on our ride and has great insight to the history of the museum and the history of trolleys. Our kids had a blast walking around and adults can read along the well documented signs they have displayed at most trolleys. Make sure to check out all barns.

Absolutely recommend visiting this place if you're even remotely interested in history, transit, or just want a fun unique experience! The Seashore Trolley museum is one of the coolest museums I have ever visited. As a transit geek such as myself, learning all about the history of streetcars, where they went, and future history behind it is amazing. They have a HUGE collection of old trolleys and even buses from all over the United States and even some outside of the US! Trolley rides are offered on historical trolleys to a small mini park giving visitors an excellent guide on the history of trolleys. You can also bike along the same track (if you so wish). For getting there, it's best to have a car, but if you don't, the Amtrak Downeaster stops nearby in Saco and Wells, a Greyhound bus serves Wells as well. Note that a Taxi/Uber IS required to access the museum as it's decently remote. Anybody in the Maine area stopping by that is visiting this area MUST stop here!

This place is amazing, and during the holidays, wow!! I took my dad in December, and we had a blast! The trollies are beautifully decorated, your tix gets you access to all of the public building, you can see a whole fleet of trollies/trains in various stages of restoration. There is a room for kids with Mr. and Mrs. Clause (real people!), a gingerbread train station, activities, free hot coco. The ride is 30 minutes through beautiful woods, and at the end, there was a wood fire with marshmallows to roast. The staff are amazing, it was so low key and SO much more affordable than other holiday train rides. The trolly was warm, very toasty. Supporting a non-profit feels good, and this one was so great! I highly recommend! We went to the Candy Land room in the lincoln hotel in Biddeford after the trolly ride....it was a perfect day! Go, enjoy, don't delay!

The lady who sold us tickets didn’t give me the sheet with all the info on it, so we were confused for a bit. I went back and asked for more info and received the info sheet and clarification on where you could go while waiting for the trolley.
Trolley ride is short but very interesting and nostalgic. As of Oct 9th, it will stop and let you out to pick a pumpkin to bring back to paint at the station.
Google stated rate was $13 for an adult but it’s $15.

Fascinating collection of beautifully restored and soon to be restored trolleys. The included trolley ride is pleasant; but the historical commentary could be a bit more practiced.
There is construction going on, and many restricted area. Better signage to allowable paths would be helpful. Don't miss the restoration shop!

As a longtime train enthusiast, I greatly enjoyed the museum. The ride on a historic, fully restored trolley car is very scenic, and the staff were knowledgeable and friendly. Located in Ogunquit, Maine, this beautiful white sand beach is a popular summer destination for swimming, sunbathing, and picnicking. The soft sand is nearly sugary in texture and makes for a pleasant beach to relax on. Ogunquit Beach also features numerous vendors selling beach toys and beach gear as well as food stands that sell lobster rolls, fried clams, and burgers.

Ogunquit Beach is great 👍! It connects to Footbridge Beach, which is also a great beach ⛱️. The tide 🌊 can be very high and space can disappear.

The beach is beautiful. Surfers and a walk around the waterfront that will take your breath away.

I love this beach in the winter as much as the summer! Huge area when tide is low. Not much space for beaching when high tide. Amazing for walking. Lots of parking. Public bathrooms too! Close to center of town. Lots of shops around.

Amazing beach. We travel a lot and we compare this one to Mayflower Beach in Cape Cod. Of course, water is cold so ocean water activities are limited, but this is Maine, so not subtracting one star for that. Absolutely bring inflatable for kids or teens to go up and down the river.
When tide is going in, the river water is flowing in and kids can ride all the way from mouth of the river at ocean, under bridge, to sand flats, get out in right, then walk through parking lots back. When tide is going our, the flow reverses and they can ride back from last the bridge into the ocean. It’s a lot of fun for them!
The beach is HUGE when tide is out. Almost too large haha looooong walk to the ocean, but gorgeous!
Be there by 9 AM to find parking. We were on a cool not hot day, Saturday, partly clouded, but Labor Day weekend and we took one of the last 5 remaining spots at 9:20 AM. Beach is wonderful. Bring inflatables for the River.
Subtracting one star as it is not possible to get out on main road after you are done with the beach. There are multiple converging roads and no street light. Traffic is at stand still and some have stop sight and others don’t, however, people ignore stop sign because otherwise they will never get out, and that intersection looks like the worst one I have ever seen with all cars in the middle of it congested driving in different directions.

Ogunquit Beach is an absolute gem by the sea. With its pristine sandy shores and crystal-clear waters, it offers a breathtaking coastal experience. The beach is well-maintained, providing a clean and inviting atmosphere. The charming town of Ogunquit adds to the appeal, offering a variety of shops and restaurants. The natural beauty of Ogunquit Beach, including stunning sunsets and scenic walks along the Marginal Way, will leave you enchanted. For a memorable seaside getaway, Ogunquit Beach is a top-notch choice.
Marginal Way is a picturesque mile-long walking trail that offers breathtaking coastal views and takes visitors through a charming village to a nearby beach. The trail, named for its location pressed between land and sea, provides 1.25 miles of winding paths with stunning vistas overlooking Ogunquit town and the Atlantic waves. At one end lies the sandy dunes of Ogunquit Beach, while at the other end awaits Perkins Cove, featuring boutiques, restaurants, candy shops, and a working fishing dock.
The Perkins Cove Rd is a picturesque and well-loved local street lined with shops and restaurants in the small town of Perkins Cove, Nova Scotia. The area is known for its natural beauty, offering stunning views of the ocean while also being close to many activities such as boating and fishing.
A quaint little sea side town. Sure, it’s mostly a tourist trap with all the shops, but I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t super fun and that I couldn’t find cute things. The smell of the ocean is amazing, and all the boats are amazing to watch folks work. Worth the visit. Plus, leads to the gorgeous Marginal Way.

Finally! I didn't have to be stuck in traffic in the summer to visit! I walked the Marginal Way trail from Stearns Rd, which isn't very far.
Enjoyable short walk around the Cove and across the bridge. Nice views of the ocean 🌊 and the fishing 🎣 vessels. I'm not certain how much parking 🅿️ is, but, space is limited and there is a parking 🅿️ meter to pay. Public restrooms available.
Restaurants and shoppes to check out. I only visited a cafe since my time was limited.
Go off season, end 🔚 of April, to avoid the crowds and go early.

Perkins Cove is a charming place to come shop for beautiful give, delicious food and nice people to talk to. They have a bridge the goes to the other side of a neighborhood, they will honk the horn from the boat coming in and whoever was on the draw bridge must open the bridge to let the boat cone through. It was beautiful to see the as well.
We are visiting from Oregon, and been to Perkins Cove quite a few years ago and just love it here in Ogunquit, Maine.
I bought a beautiful ring and earrings from Out of the Blue, Husband bought clam chowder just a place to get lovely items in the stores.

The Ogunquit Playhouse is a world-class performing arts theater company in Ogunquit, Maine. With productions of five musicals each season, the Playhouse attracts big name actors and audience members to its shows.
Had an incredible experience here seeing Beautiful, the Carole King musical. Great acting, AMAZING music!
It was really great they had a full bar and snacks to buy. And you’re allowed to eat and drink inside the theatre during the show. Huge plus there!
Sitting near the back you still get a great view. Good stadium seating.

Saw a phenomenal show today at the Ogunquit Playhouse. The cast of Waitress were talented actors. The singing outstanding. This is a must when in town.

I visited inside the tent that is set up outside for performances. It was huge and looked sturdy. Two bars were set up to serve 🍷🍻 drinks and snacks. A gift shop was inside. Parking 🅿️ lot was set up for vehicles going south ⬇️ or north ⬆️.
I attended a performance of "Young Frankenstein" with Sally "Gloria Stivic" Struthures. I would grade it an A. The stage was huge with a very loud 🔊 sound system. They have a good lighting system.
Bring your facemask, seat cushion and a debit/credit 💳 card for the bars. No cash allowed for payment.
Bring a blanket in the fall. It can get chilly.
I recommend a visit!

WOW 🤩 This is a MUST-DO!!! If you are in the area, don’t miss out. We even brought our 3 daughters and they LOVED it!! The performance was SO good😍
The service was great, get there early and grab some snacks and drinks!

I went to see Beautiful while staying in Wells. A good show considering it's a live theater in the middle of nowhere. This show was low budget and would have produced more realistic characters if the actors would have played the instruments instead of faking it. The parking setup is unusual but efficient. There are two additional bars outside with portable restrooms. The seats are okay but not the most comfortable I've had at a live theater show. However, it is a small town so overall an enjoyable evening of entertainment.

Great show!! Excellent performance. I will definitely buy tickets earlier next time, though, to get lower seats with a less obstructed view. We were up in row W, and could not see the floor of the stage. The performers moved around enough to catch some of the performance, but it did involve a little bit of "bobbing and weaving".

My boyfriend and I attended Mystic Pizza. This was by far one of the most impressive musicals - the way the cast and staff were able to incorporate such great songs into the movie, on stage. The staff at the theatre was amazing - they were accommodative and welcoming in every way. They walked us to our seats in the front row of the huge, covered, outdoor amphitheater. The place is so great, we'll be back again for Young Frankenstein in just a couple weeks. Thank you for the Hospitality.

Another night to remember at the Ogunquit Playhouse! We highly recommend this theater. We have seen various musicals and plays here and it's always a fantastic experience. "On Your Feet" was a special production with lively dancing and music; it was incredible to learn about the story of Emilio and Gloria Estefan. We didn't want the show to end and we were all on our feet and dancing by the end of the show. We appreciate the onsite parking at the theater, the amazing staff team, the brilliant & modern stage sets, the sponsors, the good A.C., and the concessions and popcorn. Thanks so much to the Ogunquit Playhouse.

Such wonderful shows with high production value. A bit pricey to do on a regular basis but great for a special occasion.

What a great venue! It’s so small that every seat is a good one. I’m a born and raised New Yorker and this honestly felt just like a Broadway show — the production of “Beautiful” had an amazing set, music, and dancing. This truly blew my expectations out of the water and I would love to see another show here. Keep in mind that leaving is a pain (you park in organized rows and can’t leave until everyone in front of you does) but it was fine. Bathrooms are in a separate building (fancy portapotties). Overall, feels like a piece of Broadway in Maine!

We have enjoyed numerous shows at the Ogunquit Playhouse. They showcase great talent! The staff is helpful and friendly. The seats are comfortable and have a good view. The restroom was clean, but there's always a line. People in general were friendly and play was good. The only issue is when someone tall sits in front of you, not able to see over them, and there's not enough of a slant to make a difference when someone bigger sits in front of you. The parking can be an issue if you're impatient because you're packed in a line, all going one way and you can't move till the people in front or around you move.

Well I was pleasantly surprised. I had heard about the play house and driven by it many times over the years. Finally friends had decided that tickets would be bought and our group of 7 would go.
It was fantastic. Loved, loved the performance of "KINKY BOOTS". This musical was absolutely amazingly fantastic. You were just swept up into the great singing ,the vocal performances excellent, just excellent. The message in the story line so true. At times your on the verge of crying and then you laughing and then your amazed. I highly recommend this show. I've been to a few plays over the years and believe me their are many that were very good but once was enough and some I wish I had not gone to ,but this performance of KINKY BOOTS I would go and see again, and again, and again . I highly recommend see it if you can . Pictures below.

Nubble Lighthouse is a historic and picturesque lighthouse located off the coast of Maine. It was built on a small piece of land that juts out into the ocean, which gives it its unique name. The lighthouse offers stunning views of the surrounding area and is a popular spot for scuba diving and fishing. Visitors can also browse through the gift shop to find souvenirs to take home with them.
One of the most beautiful and best kept secret lighthouses in all of Maine. As a professional photographer, it has been my life goal to come to Nubble Lighthouse and capture the sunrise. I fell in love with this place and decided come here every year for my family vacation.

Very nice and relax place. Lots of spaces to park. The view is stunning and you can walk down the rocks pretty close to the ocean to get the perfect picture. There is a nice gift shop and very clean restrooms. The staff recommended the blue berry soda from the cooler. It's delicious!

Beautiful, cute little lighthouse, but not quite what I had heard it hyped up to. The view it has of the water it has is absolutely stunning, even with a severe thunderstorm in the distance. The water goes on forever -- it's the open Atlantic.
The lighthouse is on a small island just behind the parking lot, so you can't walk up to it or anything. The parking lot is tiny -- really, really tiny. I was lucky and managed to get a parking spot. If you're already at York Beach, it would make sense to just walk here rather than try and find parking here.
If the weather was nicer it seems like it would be a great spot to sit and hang out and have lunch. Beautiful ocean view, close proximity to the lighthouse, and plenty of rocks to choose and sit on. If you're in the area, it's worth a visit. If you're just passing by (like I was) I'd recommend coming if you're in the off season or if you're willing to potentially wait for a parking spot or not park at all due to being close to 95.

My second lighthouse and am just as impressed - even though you can't walk up to it like the one in Portland. Well kept. Beautiful coast site. The red, white and blue makes it stand out. If enthusiastic over lighthouses and are in Maine, this would be worth your visit.

Beautiful lighthouse in coastal Maine. A classic New England scene that is a must-visit at least once! Parking can get tricky on nice weekend days.

Such a picturesque spot!! My boys loved climbing all over the rocky shore and looking at the lighthouse. It was low tide and we were able to find pools of mini ecosystems in the rocks! They loved learning the history of the lighthouse and that, at one time, there was a lighthouse keeper that lived their with boys their age . I just wish the visitor center was less of a store and more of a museum/information center.

This was our first time to see a light house. There was a decent amount of parking. They had a visitor center and gift shop that is open until 5pm. They also had a place to get ice cream and food. It had rocks for you to climb down and various places to sit. I wish though we could go inside the light house and house but it was a beautiful place to visit and the view was breathtaking.

Love this place. Been here a number of times over the years. Caution: If you try to get closer on the rock, as in closer to the water which separates the island use extreme caution. I thought it was just wet but the rocks are algae covered. I fell and landed on my right hip. But it is an awesome photogenic lighthouse.

Nubble Lighthouse in Maine proved to be a delightful detour on our journey. The charm of this landmark lies not just in the lighthouse itself, but in the sweeping vistas it offers. The panoramic views are nothing short of spectacular, making for a picturesque setting that left an indelible mark on our memories. Our daughter, especially, was completely captivated by the serene beauty of the surroundings.
However, a word of caution for future visitors: parking can be a tad tricky. But with a dash of patience and some timely observation, a spot can be secured as folks depart. The gift shop is a cherry on top, stocked with quaint souvenirs that showcase the lighthouse in all its glory. Whether you're planning to stay for half an hour or stretch it to a full one, Bubble Lighthouse is a must-visit when in Maine.

It is the most photographed lighthouse. When I went we were in a big snow storm. It made for a unique picture opportunity. It is free. But parking is tight. It is well worth the effort to see. The drive there was beautiful with snow on the regional cape cod style homes.

Amazing place, as well as relaxing. Always great to park my van there overnight and enjoy both the lighthouse and view at night time as well as in day time. Great and welcoming community too. One of my favorite spots to visit on the east coast.

This is definitely worth the drive. The coastal area of Maine is such a natural wonder. As you drive along the coast you can see the lighthouse in the distance. There is plenty of parking to view the lighthouse. Unfortunately it is on an island so it is not something you can go inside. The is a nice gift shop with friendly staff.

This lighthouse was on my mus see list along with a couple of others in Maine, and I am so glad that I went. The weather was gorgeous, the view phenomenal and the people in the area were very friendly. Visited the little gift shop which was a little pricey but I wanted something to remember visiting the lighthouse. Sadly, you cannot climb the lighthouse and it's only accessible by boat. But they do a contest giveaway where you can go see the lighthouse with the light keeper if you win. The Fox restaurant on site is definitely pricier than other places in the area, but I didn't want to go to see the lighthouse and not try Foxes. It is one of the places mentioned a lot as a place to see and go to in Maine so I did. Please remember that most places in Maine serve their lobster rolls cold, but I couldn't go to Maine and not try a lobster roll, even though I'm not a fan of lobster. You can definitely taste the freshness, but I actually preferred my hot dog over the 🦞. The bun was buttery and grilled just the way I like it. Nice bun too. Not one of those cheap ones. A lot of the items on their menu are a la carte and the soda, a small was five bucks so be prepared to spend some cash. They also have a little ice cream shop on site as well.

Absolutely stunning views of the Atlantic and the lighthouse! We went on a rainy Saturday, but it was still worth it. If you're planning to climb around on the rocks make sure to bring tennis shoes or shoes with good grip. Things get slippery real quick out here. The parking lot is big, but if it's really crowded you'll have to wait for a spot. Even with rain it was still pretty busy.
