Ridgway State Park
State park
Nature & Parks
Scenic wilderness area with a reservoir & swimming beach, plus yurt camping & year-round birding.
Ridgeway State Park lies in a dry, scrubby area. Most of the vegetation is typical of what you'd find in the high desert steppe or plains. Plants like: piñon, juniper, bitterbrush, sage, cactus and such dot the landscape. Animals are plenty and we often see cottontail, eagles, deer and occasionally, coyote. We only live 10 minutes away but we love this place. It's typically quiet, easy to get to with easy parking. Trails are simple and parallel the reservoir.
There are three different access areas with camping and one has a boat launch.
Daily fees are reasonable. It's a good place to kill some time while in the area.

We can't wait to come back. We did a couple programs with the kids at night and they enjoyed. Fishing, hiking, parks, and more. Stayed in a few camp sites and all were good, some great. Amazing camp hosts...we miss you already Tom and Peg (and Jerry and Cheryl!). Carrie, who ran the educational programs is a gem. So great.

Beautiful park nestled among the mountains. There is a $10 entrance fee but it’s worth the price of admission. There are nice trails, a swimming beach and boat/watercraft rentals if you don’t have your own. We rented a kayak in the Dallas creek area and spent an hour on the lake taking in the view and the cold water.

It's one of the nicest state parks in Colorado!
Park is surrounded by Ridgway reservoir with stunning views of the Sneffles mountain range to the south and the Cimarron mountain range to the east. You can launch power boats and kayaks at the marina or drive to a 'beach' area to launch or rent a kayak (summer only).
There are plenty of treed camping sites to include electric and water, walk-in tent sites in Elk Ridge campground, and Pa-Co-Chu-Puk campground near the uncompahgre River and 3 yurts in Dakota Terraces campground. Note: This is a VERY popular park, and you need to make reservations months in advance!
Only 6 miles to the small town of Ridgway with great restaurants and access to hiking/biking trails. 10 miles to Ouray, the 'gateway to the San Juans' and also known by locals as "little Switzerland." Fabulous area to explore the great outdoors by hiking, biking, and jeeping and soaking in the hot springs in Ouray. Something for everyone to enjoy!
Photos include one of the yurts in the park. The rest of the photos are from hikes in the surrounding area.

Great spot to pull over and enjoy some fresh air, cool off your feet, take a walk, or enjoy a picnic. Park is well maintained and the lake is pristine. Plenty of picnic tables throughout the park and a couple of restroom facilities. The “wildlife watching” area didn’t turn up much wildlife, but other than that the place was a home run.
Beep; Boop Beep! — Google review
It was our first time at this state park and we really like it. Even it was cloudy day and beach was empty we got to swim in the lake, got ice cream and went fishing at the evening (did not anything but still had fun). Campsites are huge. Bathrooms clean.
Easy and convenient dump station.
Bridal Kaleidoscope — Google review
Went paddle boarding and loved this lake! The no wake area is very large, so it’s nice going all over instead of strictly by the shore to avoid speed boaters. You have a gorgeous view of the mountains. Lots of parking spaces right near the shore. It is super dog friendly, which we obviously loved.
Bryanna Hollibaugh — Google review
Great spot with water, electricity and clean warm bathrooms
Given the season, there were only a few other campers in the entire loop.
Some are pull through sites, some have a shade structure, but not all of them
It was very clean and well kept, if you don’t have a account, you need to set one up for reservations because they are done online

Just visited on July 4. A nice park for hiking, water sports, and just simply enjoying a mountain view. There is a river flowing through here and into the lake. If you don't expect a national park-like grandiose scenes, you will be rewarded with some calm and restful surroundings.

Beautiful the weather was perfect for our short visit. New features have been added to the camp sites. The host were very kind and freindly. Unfortunately Ridgeway reservoir was very very low fishing was still good in our party they caught 6 to 8 trout. Definitely a must see state park in Colorado.

What a beautiful and friendly park. This is the first part that I have been at with recycling too. We did the yurt. It has AC and gas heat! Microwave and fridge with plenty of sleeping for 6. The bathrooms are super clean with running water. Firewood is 6 bucks cash only. Dog friendly to yurt.

Staff members are extremely friendly and helpful. Made my family feel very welcome in all areas. Clean and very well kept up. Beautiful areas for all kinds of different activities

This is a great state park with so much to do. There's hiking, biking, fishing, swimming, camping, boating, paddle boarding, areas for picnics, and playgrounds. It's a beautiful area year round, and there's a lot of wildlife to be viewed as well. There is a fee to enter, but well worth it.
Diana Orr — Google review
What a beautiful State Park! Nice trails, the Uncompahgre River running through was beautiful. The main visitor center was filled with information about the park that you could read and any questions you might have the people there would gladly answer. All of them were so friendly and helpful.
D S — Google review
A truly beautiful spot. You can take your car right in the dry parts of the lake bed and launch a boat. Dogs are welcome. Also there are covered spots for picnics. There is plenty of space. You won't regret it.
shon wims — Google review
Nicely developed state park. Only 4 stars due to lack of a bike path from CGs to day use beach. Elk Ridge CG loops are nicer, shaded in the trees and have no hwy noise. Also a cell tower is up there on Elk Ridge that does not reach much into Dakota Terraces CG
Greg D. Lind — Google review
A new favorite camping spot for our little family! We enjoyed the large pull thru camping pad with electric, plenty of restrooms nearby, many easy trails to hop on and explore, and the lake: wow!!! The lake is just GORGEOUS! Bring your kayaks, paddle boards, peddle boats...whatever 'floats your boat'! The weather is cooler than areas north of it like Grand Junction, but the water was still nice and warm for our early August visit. Definitely recommend!
Dajana Swanson — Google review
Great campground with lots of space between neighbors and the view from the overlook are amazing! The hosts were very sweet and accommodating!
The Ute Indian Museum is a unique establishment dedicated solely to the history and culture of the Ute tribe, who are indigenous to western Colorado. The museum contains an impressive collection of artifacts and ceremonial dress, as well as being situated on the homestead of Uncompahgre Ute chief Ouray and his wife Chipeta.
Great smaller museum telling a history that has been ignored. Recommend a couple hours if you want to watch all videos and read the stories.
K Ga — Google review
Good effort to present the history and life of the Indians. However, not much awareness of the duress these people endured during the western occupation by the colons.
Also, the exhibit is quite crowded, thus a bit confusing. A path with more chronological order would benefit to clarity.
But overall it is to be recommended to visit, and see the outside exhibit as well.
Patrick Hurt — Google review
Small museum with informative videos, and artifacts highlighting Native American history plus gardens outside. There's a hallway filled with woke art but it is easy to skip. The rest of the museum is historically objective. Worth visiting if you are in Montrose.
Rob B. — Google review
This Museum is awesome. I have lived around this area for years and I have drove by this place a lot. I never stopped in to see it. My sister in-law had her wedding here and it was a beautiful place for a wedding. The staff was amazing.
Christopher Robsion — Google review
It's a wonderful museum, so much to see. There are tv"s where you interact with and are able to watch many different things about the Ute tribe of the history and many of things. Many benches to set and take in the views. Outside was also very interesting and informative. A great museum.
D S — Google review
A really fun museum, lots of history. Lots to see and learn about, a great place to bring kids. Definitely recommended stopping by here if you're in the Montrose area or close by.

Interactive exhibits for all ages. A first-person history told through video, science, art, dance, and image.
Grant H-M — Google review
There is much care and beautiful effort put into the displays. The attention to details is magnificent. Even the videos and movies tell great stories that need to be told. Some of them are heart breaking, and yet make you think about the details even more. The education is well worth the price of admission. They even teach classes such as moccasin making, beading, and others.
Jeremy Upton — Google review
What an amazing tribute to the Ute tribe. Gorgeous artifacts and displays. The grounds are so well kept and informative. Loved my time there.
Karen McGrath — Google review
One of the best museums I have experienced. I have gone to the new and polished Oklahoma tribal museums and this is more interactive. Really helpful videos throughout and hands on activities such as making beading patterns with glass stones. Worth a stop, even for 30 minutes
Shelley Austin — Google review
It's not huge inside but there are a lot of displays and information crammed into the space. Also, the staff there were extremely helpful. It's also worth checking out some of the things outside.
Steven Spearman — Google review
We really enjoyed the opportunity to learn more about the Utes— Colorado’s oldest residents. They are the only Indian tribe in the US that never migrated and lived continually on their ancestral lands in CO for over 1000 years until forcibly relocated to southern Utah in the mid 1800s.
LS Sheldon — Google review
I walk with the dog here in the mornings. Its quiet and peaceful. There is a wooden walkway that leads to the Uncompahgre River. I've spotted cranes, geese and ducks on the river. Lots of people like to start river trips from this spot. On the other side of the road is the museum. The architecture is interesting and the museum has informative displays. Children enjoy exploring the many yurts built on the grounds. There is a trail beyond the grounds that lead to Riverbottom and Cerise Park.
This was one of the coolest museums we have ever been to! Our guide was super knowledgeable and Mr. Richard was an amazing person ! He started his collection at 4 years old !! 🤩 😮! We learned about Bob (his story made me cry) and got to see all the artifacts and rooms. My mom even got a visit to the dentist ;). If you’re in Montrose, go visit ! You won’t be disappointed!!

We've gone once a year as we've been able, and there is always something new to see. Knowledgeable and friendly guides, with the option to not take the guided tour as well. This collection is fantastic and you can miss something easily, so multiple trips is really what it takes to get a true appreciation for what's been amassed. Original buildings that have been moved, etc. Great trip for kids and adults alike.

Fascinating to see the collection from one man’s lifetime! Indoor and outdoor exhibits on display. I encourage a guided tour to get the most of your visit to the museum. Enjoyed this stop!!
Melissa Shepard — Google review
This was a spur of the moment stop along our road trip. We circled back to see what this place was about and were just in time to join the next tour group. Everyone that worked there just seemed really amazingly friendly. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and thorough! The tour ended up being about 3 hours! And there was still so much to look at but we had to get on the road. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that loves antiques and old buildings. All the buildings are authentic and were carefully refurbished. This whole thing was put together by one man who started his collection of antiques at age 4! The collection is quite large and curated well! It was really enjoyable and we appreciated it a lot! It was well worth the price of admission!
Reina Gattino — Google review
We have traveled this nation extensively and we love to visit museums. This is one of the most extensive and complete collections of Western America we have seen. The buildings, artifacts, knowledgeable and kind guides and learning environment is incredible. Our children were just as enthralled as we were by the wide variety of antiques and history lessons. We are big history buffs, but learned and saw so much! This is a absolute must-see stop! Worth a trip to Montrose simply for this museum alone. We feel lucky we “stumbled” upon it!

Incredibly lovely and vast museum with original collections and buildings (transferred in situ) with well thought through living situations. Lovely staff and all run through donations and the entry fee. Well worth a long stroll!
Maike Strothmann — Google review
The Museum of the Mountain West was one of our best stops. We met the owner Richard Fike, who talked to us about how he started collecting items at age 4. He is now 83. His collection of old western artifacts is unbelievable. The tour guide Jim Wendt was an excellent guide. A must see if you're ever near Montrose, Colorado 😁
Daniel Davis — Google review
Hands down one of the best museum experiences I've ever had.
I had to wait for a girl scout troop to clear out before there was anyone around to help me out, but eventually I was able to secure the self-guided tour as I was told the hosted tours are about 2 hours and I didn't know if I wanted to spend that amount of time there after pulling over on a whim.
The owner/founder is a retired archeologist who started collecting at the age of 4 and he has a deep love for western history. I highly encourage everyone to take a trip there and hear him speak before he retires.
From what I was able to hear of the guided tours, the hosts are incredibly knowledgeable and you can tell the entire museum is a labor of love for them.
I will definitely try to make it back next time I'm through the Montrose area.

Wonderful museum of local history and the wild west. There are many artifacts and buildings to see. The staff is awesome. I recommend taking the tour, you can see several artifacts up close.

This was one of the most amazing museums I have ever been in. Our host Jim was truly extraordinary. We spent about two hours here and could have spent an entire day.. The stop was not planned but I sure i'm glad we made time.. The collection was absolutely extraordinary..

My Wife and I had a great time here, everyone was extremely nice. The way this Museum is set up really walks you through the times and places of the past. The knowledgeable tour guide (I recommend the all take the tour to get the full experience) introduced us to many facts that were previously unknown. Had a great chat with the owner. He’s been collecting for lots of years and is a very respectable person. We’ll be back for sure. If you’re into the History of the Old West. This is the place for you.
J Riddle — Google review
If you’re on the fence about visiting this museum, *definitely* do it, and *definitely* get the guided tour! This was an unexpectedly fantastic and amazing museum! Our family really enjoyed our time here. I would 100% recommend getting the guided tour for a few more dollars - you learn so much more and go in many of the buildings you can’t go in on a self-guided tour. Jim was SO knowledgeable and we went early in the morning (about 8:30/9am on a Wednesday) and ended up having a private tour for about 1.5 hours. Jim knows SO much about everything and had an answer for every single one of our many questions about the artifacts. I thought this was going to be more of a “road side attraction” type place, but it turns out Mr. Fike, the collector/curator of all of the items, is an actual renowned archaeologist and everything is historically accurate and original. It’s like stepping back in time and seeing things exactly how they were in the late 1800s. Plan on spending at least two hours here for the guided tour + time after to walk around and see the additional buildings. If you like to read everything and are interested in history, you might want to spend more time than that - there is a lot of very cool stuff to see (including a hunted house!)
Elizabeth L — Google review
amazing museum. Highly recommend going for the guided tour, we had Jim as our tour guide. Full of knowledge and answered all our questions. We even got to have a chat with the man who started and owns the museum. Much more personable than your usual museums.
Gary Gross — Google review
The kids really enjoyed being able to go into all the different buildings outdoors, and they had lots of questions about the items on display indoors and out. Even without a tour, they learned plenty and enjoyed the freedom to explore. We adults appreciated the care that went into collecting and arranging the displays both in the surprisingly extensive indoor facades (two little streets worth) and in the historical buildings outdoors, as well as the stories behind the preserved structures. We spent about an hour-and-a-half browsing through local history here. Prices for adults were pretty standard ($15 with tour, $12.50 without), and kids 6-17 were only $5.

Such an impressive collection! I enjoyed seeing all the exhibits and the attention to detail was super fascinating! The volunteer staff were clearly passionate about what they do and my kids enjoyed learning about life in the old west. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the area!

Man what an amazing experience our daughters had jumping today. You won't find a nicer bunch of folks, and they really know what they're doing. This place drew us to the area from Dallas since our 17 year old can't jump anywhere else, and I am so glad we came. It was an experience they will all remember for the rest of their lives. We will come back.
Thanks so much!

My family has been on a road trip across the country, but this will standout as the Pinnacle of the entire experience. My wife and oldest sons are 9 & 7 were eager and apprehensive to go skydiving. When we arrived that all changed into excitement and enthusiastic thanks largely to the incredible team at ULTIMATE SKYDIVING ADVENTURES. I hope to be back soon with more friends and family to take part in this incredible experience.

Since my daughter was 11 yrs old, she made me promise her that when she turned 18 we would skydive. Today was her 18th birthday. The promise she had me make so many years ago had been forgotten by her. But I didn't forget.
Wow! The only thing that comes to mind is phenomenal! This experience is one of those epic moments in your life. that you never forget!!! Isn't that what it's all about? Creating those memories for our children to always look back on. It was a beautiful day. My daughter and I flew today. What a bonding experience that was! Thanks.Ben. What an awesome time. We're already planning to do our next jump.

Wonderful and safe experience! Thank you to the entire team for an AMAZING time.
We made a week long trip from NY to CO just to take our 3 oldest, 14, 13 and 10 years old, skydiving. As such we reserved our jump about 8 weeks ahead of time and ensured all of our paperwork was in order BEFORE we left NY and also made room for 2 alternate days in case of bad weather. Thankfully the day of the jump was a BEAUTIFUL day.
The office manager Bri was very helpful from my first phone call through a few e-mails to my 4th phone call, she was great. Additionally all of the other staff and other skydivers at the facility were helpful, friendly and encouraging to the kids, high fives and fist bumps abounded.
Ben, the owner and instructor for the kids, was awesome the entire time with the kids. He interacted with them very well from start to finish. Thanks for taking great care of my kids Ben!
The end result is that all 3 kids would JUMP at the opportunity to skydive again, can't ask for more.
Thank you again to the entire USA team!

The Colorado National Monument is a must-see attraction in the Grand Junction area, known for its stunning canyons, red rocks, and sandstone towers. This natural wonder offers picturesque views that cannot be missed. Take your time to explore the vast and beautiful landscape of this monument. On Day 11 of your trip, plan on visiting the Colorado National Monument before driving to Montrose.
Colorado National Monument is a great place to visit if you want to drive an area without needing to do strenuous hikes to capture the beauty of Colorado! There is a drive that lines the park and allows you to capture great shots of the park without having to go away from the car too much. There are tons of pull offs, and this is one of the best places in Colorado to capture a sunrise! I have chased the sunrise across this ridge a number of times and the sun coming over the horizon and hitting the sandstones is amazing to see in person. This park honestly looks like it is a part of Utah or Arizona, but we are lucky enough to have this in Colorado!

Only downside: there isn't much shade if you're going to stay during the summer. Make sure to bring your own, but also be aware of the wind that kicks up from time to time.

A must see if you are in the Grand Valley. There are 2 pay entrances. Switchbacks will take you through the breathtaking landscape with canyons and monoliths that are truly amazing. There are plenty of hiking trails from easy to moderate, check for weather before, and bring plenty of water. There is a campground that fills quickly. Pack it, take it out so others may enjoy this beautiful monument.

I LOVED this place!!! I ended up getting there way later than intended but all the views were absolutely amazing. I did 3 of the short hikes for like 4-5 miles total but I would absolutely go back and do some of the harder ones with more time! The overlooks all provided so many photo ops and I love places like this where I can just sit on a rock and enjoy the beautiful scenery. I couldn’t have asked for a prettier skyline for my pics! Don’t skip this little gem. And the visitor center had lots of interesting info as well so don’t forget to spend a little time in there!

Warning, please read! I was hiking Serpents Trail yesterday 6/30 and parked my car at the parking lot at the bottom, which is also the trailhead for Devil's Kitchen (the first lot once you pass the Grand Junction entrance into the park). I was gone for about 2 hours between 12-2pm and someone broke into my car. They picked the lock on my 2023 Mazda, rummaged through my belongings, and stole my $600 drone as well as my cologne. If you're the thief and you're reading this, I hope you enjoy my $20 cologne and sleep well at night. Please make lots of money reselling my drone. I hope you have fun. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to get a new and more expensive drone; better cologne too! Other than the incident, I truly loved Colorado National Monument. I really thought an area run by the National Park Services would be safer than this...

Most scenic, most spectacular views. In aww at every curve. The 21 mile drive was breath taking to say the least. I wanted to stop every mile or quarter mile. High winds blew in while there. Still managed a little hike. Visitor Center had nice things. Rangers were helpful.

This place was awesome. For the record I don’t think I’ve rated any park less than 5. Spent the morning in the park. Hiked devils kitchen and serpentine trail. It was cool to think they used to take cars up the serpentine trail. Great place to do some trail running. The devils kitchen trail starts out very well marked them goes natural and you’re on your own. It was a great couple hours hiking the two trails. Drove through the rest. Very impressive.

Definitely worth a stop! Decent hiking opportunities but this is one of those national parks/monuments that caters to those who are less mobile. Tons of pull-off and park-to-view spots, good signage describing the landscape, great visitor center, and the pictures do NOT do it justice, go experience it for yourself!

What a treat! The views and the drive are simply amazing. Photos don't do justice, experience with your own eyes. It took us about 2 hrs to leisurely cruise through the monument. Must not miss it you are in Western Colorado

When I was planning a roadtrip of Colorado's national parks and other similar attractions, I came across this. Two parts of me suggested we skip it, thinking maybe it might be too similar to or even less impressive than a place like Canyonlands, which we'd visited two years prior, or that because we'd be stopping by in mid-July, it wouldn't be enjoyable at all, since it's a high desert. I'm glad I ignored those two voices. While we only spent about 3 1/2 hours here, it was well worth the extra 90 minutes of driving on our trip.
We entered at the West/Fruita entrance, and stopped at all but maybe one or two of the overlooks along Rim Rock Drive. Several of the overlooks offer excellent views of unique geological formations; others allow you to just soak in the beauty of the sandstone and the river valley off to the north and east. We also spent about a half hour at the visitor center, as our kids completed the junior ranger program booklets.
If time were less of a factor, I would've liked to take Black Ridge Road out of the park toward Rattlesnake Canyon, as that seems to be a great, short trail to see a couple of amazing arches. And if weather were less of a factor (the temperatures were in the upper 90s the entire afternoon we were there), we almost certainly would've hiked at least a couple of the shorter trails (Coke Ovens, Otto's, Canyon Rim, Window Rock). But it felt like over 100 degrees outside, and just getting in and out of the car and walking a short distance to each overlook was exhausting enough as it was. Maybe another time.
Ultimately, this park deserves to be reclassified as a National Park. My hometown has a "national park" that's way less impressive than this.

This review is for Monument Canyon Loop Trail which was a ~4.5 miles round trip that took ~2.5 hours to complete.
Started the loop by going counterclockwise. A few extremely steep inclines and snow further in. Stunning views of the canyon and rocks! Not a fan of the fence adjacent to the trail near the beginning and the end.
Short video of the hike for those interested! https://youtu.be/-CTPNnfPIlo

Always a Great drive. If you need to take time to get away this is a great drive its easy to get to the price has changed so cost a bit more for trip. Be careful on the roads as bikes seem to like to race down the roads and blind corners you can not always see them. the devils kitchen hike is one of the family's favorite stops for a hike that will take a few hours after stops along the way. Many of the over looks will give you a view of the Mesa or book cliffs. there are many little hiking spots along the out skirts of the park that will give you a shorter hike and great for the small kids to enjoy a bit of exploring.

Located outside of Grand Junction, Colorado, the Colorado National Monument is a unit of the National Park Service that is worth a visit. We spent a few hours driving along the 23-mile Rim Rock Drive, stopping for a couple of short walks along the way. The first stop was for Otto's Trail, which was less than a mile round trip. At the overlook, you have excellent views of canyons and Independence Monument. We then drove to the Upper Monument Canyon to see the Coke Ovens; this walk was a little over a mile round trip. We even saw a big horn sheep crossing the road, so look out for wildlife! There was more to see that we'll have to go back for on another visit. Highly recommended.

This should be a National Park. This Monument is better than most parks and is one of the better sites in the National Park Sytem. The 22 mile drive through is amazing with numerous pull offs and viewpoints. It can be a little scary at spots. There is a good visitor center with epic views. It has trails and a nice campground. All the glory of a National Park with none of the crowds. Just outside of town it is very accessible.

I was fortunate enough to visit the Colorado National Monument and Park back in February and breathtaking isn’t even a strong enough word to describe the beauty! It started snowing as we got towards the top, so we weren’t able to stay long, but the views were absolutely spectacular! I can’t wait to come back and visit during the summer for a different scene!

I visited on a bright sunny, hot day. There was no wait at the entrance and the Ranger was super friendly. Most all of the overlooks on Rim Rock Road are only a very short distance from the road. There was plenty of parking, sometimes I was the only car there. Lots of beautiful canyons and views of The Grand Valley.
Great Cinco de Mayo!! Thank you Downtown GJ Businesses for.your support!!

Very weird vibe. Was ignored in Several stores. Never greeted like other customers when entering stores. In a restaurant, not waited on or spoken to for 15 mins. ( It was not slammed & had several wait staff walking around) Even had a couple outwardly aggressive looks. Very unnerving. Later we were informed by a local the history of the town & researched the bronze statutes in the area which explained alot.

I came to Grand Junction to visit a canine friend who moved here last year from Oregon. So I had zero expectations about the town.
Yet I found it delightful, charming, artistic and hip.
The dog (Memphis a boxer) and her human parents and I went to a nighttime farmers market, brews and music festival, and the vibe was all what you would hope for from a middle sized Colorado town. Laid back, family friendly.

Parade of lights took about 2 1/2 hours of wonder of the light s it was nice but very long. It was the 'Jurassic Christmas' theme 2023 .
Lots of different floats this year. To long for the kids to see Santa we felt early . .

SO much local art (there is a specific program name, which I forget). Our local friends took us visitors up and down the main street. We even ran into a bagpipe and Celtic dancers group - best I've ever heard.
I could've used a public restroom or two - I saw the Sign but not the place.
On a weekday evening the parking was easy, convenient and free.
Of course, the art was the best part.

Being there at a cold winters day was most likely different than on a summers day. It was a bit empty as it was cold, but I thing it will be a very nice place on a summers day. At least it was not all done for cars but there were room for walking down the main street.
Hands down the best winery we went to while on our trip. Kenneth Dunn Jr. was the highlight of our trip and he have us some of the best facts and his wine was amazing. We all ended up leaving with a bottle and a smile on our face. Sincere thanks from four girls from Northern Colorado (not Denver). Also give us a call if you make that trip to Argentina and we will come with!

Worse winery we have ever been to, owner was rude and disrespectful. My family of 4 were out for a nice day of wine tasting. Three of us had the tasting at 20 dollars each and my husband ordered a glass of wine for 15 dollars. I offered my husband a sip of my first sample of white wine. He scolded me— asked if I had read the menu?? It says 20 dollars per person. I thought he was kidding and giggled. He sternly said I am not kidding and will charge person!! What? He wasn’t giving me more wine I was sharing. He liked to talk about himself the whole time. My daughter did not like a sample so poured it out in the water pitcher instead of the bucket. He yelled at her saying that was the water pitcher. We were the only people there. He was so upset about it. On top of all this the wine was mediocre at best!! We always buy a few bottles of wine when we do wine tasting but not here. Even if I liked the wine I would not buy anything from him. The atmosphere was awful as well. Unkept landscape. We thought about turning around but gave it the benefit of the doubt.. We were soooo wrong with that decision. Our advise don’t go!!

My sister and I had a FANTASTIC time tasting Hermosa Vineyards’ wonderful wines this afternoon. We were very fortunate to have our wines served by Ken Dunn, Hermosa Vineyard’s extremely personable, enjoyable and witty owner.
Ken had a wealth of information at his “fingertips” about each of the special wines we tasted and he shared his knowledge with us in a very easy-to-understand and “down to earth” way.
Although I usually don’t care for red wines, Hermosa Vineyards’ red wine samples were so delicious. I also really loved the special dry white wine and cherry dessert wine that I tasted.
My sister, who always enjoys red wines, raved about the Hermosa red wines she’d tried. Both of us will definitely savor the four bottles of Hermosa Vineyards’ wine that we bought — 2 red wines, 1 special dry white wine, and a cherry dessert wine.
We had lots of fun talking to Ken and appreciated his hard work and deep commitment to producing great wines, regardless of the adverse affects of climate changes.
My sister and I definitely intend to return to Hermosa Vineyards this coming spring.
Deborah Kaller — Google review
Owner was rude. The place does not look very nice and the wine is so expensive when it all tastes the same and tastes VERY cheap mind you. My mother wanted to share a little sip of her tasting of ONE of the wines with my father who was driving and owner threw a tantrum like a child. Very shocking to sit through. Wine was just so boring with nothing good to remember. So many great wineries nearby that you should go to instead.
Nicholas Martinson — Google review
A small tasting room but the intimate experience allowed us to ask a lot of question and learn a lot! Even better that the wines were great quality - saw a lot of other customers drop by to pick up case. Definitely will seek out Hermosa Vineyards wines in the future!

A beautiful vineyard with a relaxed atmosphere. Kenn is welcoming and knowledgeable and his wine is the best in the valley. You’ll often run into friendly locals who are regulars - always a sign of a great place! Start with a tasting and end with a wonderful experience that includes great conversation and new friends (and maybe even a few bottles of that cherry dessert wine 😉). Hermosa Vineyards is a must-visit when you’re in the Palisade area.

Local favorite! I’ve been to all the wineries and this is always a must when visitors come from out of town. Kenn knows what he’s doing and his knowledge and experience is a great way to learn more about wine making and viticulture. If you’re stopping through or visiting the area Hermosa is a must!! And if you like it BUY IT! Cause he doesn’t go to the festivals or distribute to liquor stores. Quality wine and a great time!!

Great atmosphere and wine. I am a local and it's my favorite go to winery to spend an afternoon. The owner Ken is very generous and fun to chat with. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good time. Edit: I'm adding a photo several months after the initial review. This is still my favorite winery and we visit often.

We stopped by on a hot afternoon after a ton of hiking to relax and cool off for a while. We had the chance to chat with Kenneth and discuss our pasts and the lives that had walked us here. He was very nice and full of wonderful stories. We shared our times of struggles and joys all while he told us about his wines and all the things that go into the production. We really enjoyed the Sweet White and took a bottle home as well. If you are in the area, stop and chat with a great guy and enjoy some amazing wines.

One of my top favorite vineyards in the area. It was a unique experience where Ken (the owner) talked with us through the whole experience. He answered questions and told stories. He was confident and knowledgeable, some could say cocky and arrogant but he is very good at what he does and needs that confidence to be successful. The wine was my favorite out of the several vineyards we visited. We look forward to visiting again.
Exhibits include collections of real fossils, a simulated earthquake ride & robotic reconstructions.
It’s a dinosaur museum! A really good one too! If you’re an adult looking to kill some time it’s good for about one hour and you’ll learn something! With kids who knows, you could spend a lot of time in there. That said the best part are the interactive displays, I imagine covid might have taken some of those away unfortunately. Will update!

Honestly this was a really good experience. My 3 year old was kinda scared at first, but she loved it me and my husband had a good time and learning new things about dinosaurs. We were just passing through and it was a nice fun break to have from driving. Would definitely recommend!

My sister and I used to come here as kids and always had a blast learning and seeing all the the dinosaurs and different fossils that are on display. I was able to take my 2 year old (kids under 3 years old get in for free!) daughter and she really enjoyed herself! I was bummed that the place hasn't really been updated in the 20+ years it has been since I was a kid running around. I think it would be nice to have a bit more interactive things to do for little kids, but overall still am happy with our visit. We will continue to keep visiting and learning 🦖🦕

This is such a great museum. They also have a nice gift shop with a wide variety of items from kids toys to kids books, memorabilia, coffee cups and knick knacks.
The museum itself is also great with a mixture of fossil exhibits, skeleton recreations, and animatronics/models.
I love when museums have more interactive type exhibits. There are several trivia questions in the museum where you lift a latch to find out the answer. They also currently have an earthquake simulator you can stand on.
I think any person with a love or interest in dinosaurs, and other extinct species would find enjoyment here.

This dinosaur museum may be small, but is packed with lots of information. It has exhibits about things I've never seen before, like how we can tell if a dinosaur was sick or had a disease. We spent about 1.5 hours here and were able to see most of it. It was a great stop on our roadtrip. Great place to bring young children as well.

I had been trying to visit this museum for about 3 years. 3 years ago pandemic hit and I believe it was officially closed. Finally 3 years later I took my 13 year who liked it but stated "low budget" museum. I don't really know what he meant by it. My 10 year old loved the whole experience and said "thanks dad". I myself loved it and gave me a lot of dinosaur's history here in Colorado. I would recommend it to anybody with younger kids who might enjoy it as well. My 4 year old was handsy with everything. He said, "this is so cool"

This is a great little museum to spend an afternoon in, especially if you like dinosaurs or have kids! Lots of fossils, some hands on/interactive exhibits, a few live fish, tons of information and photos, and a very cool observation deck that offers a bird's eye view into the paleontologist lab. The gift shop is also very cute and full of very good gifts for the dinosaur lovers in your life--young and old!

Interesting museum. We loved that you could see paleontologists working on fossils in a huge fossil room. They had a few interactive things for kids and lots of dinosaur facts. The size of different hearts compared to dinosaur and human ones was neat. I think we were there for about an hour.

It's a small museum, but it's jam-packed with exhibits. There's an excavation sand pit for the little ones and a cool water table area. There's tons of information and a very affordable and entertaining way to spend an afternoon for anyone who likes dinosaurs. There were clean restrooms and a great little gift shop. We got a dinosaur claw replica and a geode we could break on our own. Super fun place for the whole family.

It's good to go learn more about dinosaurs 🦖 but it's lost a few mechanical dinosaurs,it's fun for the little kids! I think they could put a new fish tank in and a little bigger. Make it something more different to look at and give those beautiful fish more room , they are very long fish, maybe give them large tubes of water to swim through to a larger tank and back in there part of the museum and let them have a better life. The long neck dinosaur is so big have to go check it out 😜. Enjoy your visit.

A smaller museum, but a lot of good exhibits! I think it might possibly be a little more aimed towards families with smaller children, but a lot of the information is good for adults to read (as in it isn't super dumbed down or obviously written for small children).
Lots of skeletons and bones, plus some models of what some dinosaurs may have looked like in real life. Many things were from the local area, which is really cool to see so many things from this part of the world. There's also a paleontology lab.
There were a few areas for kids to play, or at least interact with things. There was an "earthquake zone" with a shaking pad, which I remember from visiting here as a kid almost 30 years ago. There was also a sand pit the dig up replicas of bones, and a water feature that we couldn't get to work but you were supposed to build a dam with rocks. There's also a dinosaur that growls at you when you push a button.
Honestly one of my favorite parts was the aquarium with the little gar and catfish. Gar are so neat!
We spent a little over an hour here. If you're looking for something to do, have some time to kill, or have little ones, I'd recommend a stop.

Plain quarters in a relaxed ski resort offering a restaurant & a bar, plus ski storage & rentals.
Great, laid back resort that is a hidden gem on the Western Slope. The 2023 snow is amazing and the slopes are empty compared to the bigger resorts to the East. Get out there before the season ends.

A great place to ski in Colorado. Powderhorn has a perfect amount of trails for people who only have limited days to visit compared to other giant ski resorts. However, most black trails aren’t groomed, which limit the options for intermediate-advanced skiers. There are little to no lines and wait times are short. A lot of snowfall in the mountains reduces the need to make artificial snow. The lodge has a microwave. Staff is friendly and welcoming.

This place is a great little local ski area. Ditch the crowds and enjoy some of Colorado’s best powder and glades. The rental department can get busy. The line of cars winding up in AM can be annoying. But once there it’s a great little ski area with fun for all levels. Bring a lunch if you don’t want to spend $10 on a cup of chili. When I feel like there is nothing else I can see to make me fall deeper in love with Colorado… here comes Azura. Y’all I don’t know why it took me so long to find this piece of heaven. It’s like you travel to Europe, but I take it back Azure can definitely compete with any European winery. The views is absolutely amazing 😻 the tastings are a great deal where you try 4 for $5. Coco is the official mascot and he makes sure to show you around the grounds. Cachi also enjoyed the location. Make sure to add this location to your bucket list. We want to try the other wineries but I am not sure they can beat the view. Also the service is friendly and very helpful.

Tasty wine, INCREDIBLE view! Can't go wrong with $10 for 4 wine samplings (and you get to keep the wine glass), pretty great deal. The winery has a yacht club just a short walk away and it was so much fun. We read about an RC sailboat race and were so pleasantly surprised when they told us we could participate! Absolutely 10/10 experience. The winery is set in the most beautiful location with a spectacular view. There is ample seating, from patio couches, tables overlooking the edge, and waterfront chairs, all of it excellent. We were immediately greeted and the service was superb. The wine was very good and we both found something we liked easily. My only regret is not buying more bottles to take home!

First of all, approaching the winery was like rolling up to an Italian villa, with beautiful grounds and lush landscaping. The wine tasting was very reasonably priced, with the ability to sample 4 different wines for $10, and even included the glass. They were all very well done, and I honestly liked everything I tried. I settled for the yacht club red for my full glass, and settled down under their pergola patio, which sported incredible views and offered shade as well. We were really impressed with everything, and while we didn’t get food, we came back with 2 bottles of the Yacht Club Red, as it’s only available at the vineyard and not distributed locally. Guess just a good reason to come back! Azura was by far the best vineyard of all the ones we tried in the area and we’d absolutely come back!

First off the staff is very friendly and proud of their establishment. (as they should be) we LOVED the atmosphere and view. This place is classy and well thoughtout. We visited Grand Mesa in August of 2023 and I am so glad we did! The weather was perfect.
We stoped and walked along many of the larger lakes (there are over 300 lakes) . We entered from the South 50 to 65 . Visitor center is far in, nearly at top of Mesa first 6 of 12 mile drive was gravel rough road and the drive itself is pretty shaky. The visitor center was nice, the lakes around the visitor center were pretty. Overall nice experience but be prepared for mosquitos in the summer bring a repellent for the mosquitoes.

Fast and Cool! Such a fun experience! First impression, my daughter said the outhouse smelled really good. Lol. Driver was fun to listen to. Service was exceptional. Kids 6-14 loved it. Jackets fit well and were nice for a rental outfit. Photos they did were done really well. Got wet, went fast, and zipped up some tight sections.

What a thrill!! We love Joe! He knows the history of the area and caters to his guests! We couldn't have asked for a better experience!

Definitely worth the drive! This company blends a mix of thrills, scenic beauty, and fun history dialog while riding in an awesome boat down the open Colorado river! If you're lucky you may spot several of the local Bald Eagles as they nest right off the river as well as many other wildlife. This was a blast!

The Maroon Bells Scenic Area is home to iconic mountain peaks that rise over 14,000 feet and are known for their vivid colors caused by mineral streaking. There is a shuttle bus available to access the scenic viewing area. Despite the less than ideal late afternoon light for photos, it is still a breathtaking sight and visitors can enjoy spending time at beautiful Maroon Lake nearby. The twin peaks are truly majestic and should not be missed when visiting the area.
This place is EXQUISITE, well worth the drive. Although we had no reservations- the system was down - you will love the road leading up to it.
There will be thousands of opportunities to take pictures, when you are able to pull to the side.
Please be extra careful with cyclist.
Open your windows, slow down and enjoyed the hand of the L-rd!

The beauty of this place cannot be overstated. If you have the chance to go, do it! Rugged mountains, babbling streams, fields of wild flowers, turquoise blue lakes...all within view of the parking lot. If you don't have it in you for a hike, stroll around Maroon Lake, located 5 minutes from the parking lot. There are even a couple benches along the path if you want to sit back and take it in. If you're looking for a short, but rewarding hike, go to Crater Lake (about 3.5 miles round trip).
We hiked from the parking lot, past crater lake, and up to buckskin pass. The apple watch gave a round trip distance of 10.5 miles (with some side diversions). Total hike time was about 4.5 hour with stops for snacks and lunch in the pass. We passed a handful of other people, but it never felt overcrowded considering it was a Sunday (though rain was in the forecast).
The shuttle service from the Highlands was hassle-free. We took the 8am shuttle to avoid the afternoon rain. They recommend getting there 45 minutes early, but I think 15 would suffice. We sat around for a while waiting to board. At the drop off point there are bathrooms and a covered sitting area for convenience.

Incredible spot. Fall colors with reflection of the peaks in the lake is an experience. Take the public shuttle from Aspen Highlands to reach this place, and a small walk from where the shuttle stops.

What an amazing place. The lake was beautiful. When we went, the wildflowers were blooming. It made the place even more beautiful. We took the four pass loop hike. The whole Maroon Bells - Snowmass wilderness has many more breathtaking views to offer if you opt for hiking.

Heaven on Earth. One of my favorite places to see in Colorful Colorado. Our latest visit was on 10/03/2022. We hiked to Crater Lake and back, and then continued on Maroon Creek Trail. Fall colors are in full bloom.

One of the best fall seasonal places in CO! We booked bus reservation to the bells, which was on time and overall had a fun walking and hiking around the trail with golden yellow aspens all around.

Maroon Bells was a bucket list achievement for me. I always saw pictures and videos of this beautiful area in the summer. However, winter is equally beautiful and you can ice skate ⛸️ on the lake when its frozen!
Absolutely beautiful and wonderful experience and hike. Can you spot the rock formation of the howling coyote between the two peaks?
The views at Maroon Bells are stunning and breathtaking anytime of year. In the summer and fall, it is most popular and requires a pass and shuttle ride. For a short time in the winter, it is FREE and doesn't require reservations but it is first come first serve.
Phillipe Rivera — Google review
The Maroon Peaks were an amazing site from the lake, and the parking area was surrounded by several other beautiful and unique peaks. Rain and snow the night prior left the sky cloudy, the ground wet, and the air cold so I would definitely like to come back to see everything in the other seasons.
You are supposed to make parking reservations ($10) or included with an Annual parks pass and supposedly arrive between midnight and 8am. However, the park ranger station didn’t seem to open up until ~7:30 - ~8am.
Despite the tickets being almost sold out when I made reservations (Back in May!) there were only a handful of other people there before we left. There were people coming in after 8am when we were leaving. This may be because of how late in the season we came and the rangers may be there earlier and be more strict during warmer months when they expect to have more visitors.
Phoenix Hiraeth — Google review
So I booked a parking reservation to the Maroon Bells months in advance and as I got closer to the date we realized that you need to be parked there before 8 am to have driving access to the park. That unfortunately wasn't going to be possible for us this trip. Out of pure coincidence, instead of visiting Maroon Bells, we ended up hiking up to the Elk Camp Summit the day of our reservation and much to my surprise we got the stunning views of the Bells away! What a great thing to keep in mind if you don't have time to make it over to the Maroon Bells. You can just take the Elk Camp lift or hike up to the Elk Camp summit at Snowmass and get the amazing views. Just make sure to bring a camera that has a nice zoom feature.

Title: A Majestic Escape to Maroon Bells, Colorado!😍
Review:
I had the incredible opportunity to visit Maroon Bells, Colorado, and it was an absolute dream come true! Nestled amidst the rugged Rocky Mountains, Maroon Bells is a true gem of natural beauty that left me awe-inspired at every turn.
The iconic twin peaks, reflected in the crystal-clear Maroon Lake, create a picture-perfect scene that belongs on a postcard.
The hiking trails cater to all levels of expertise, providing ample opportunities to immerse oneself in nature. As I ventured along the trails, I was greeted by towering aspen groves, wildflower meadows, and majestic evergreen forests. The air was crisp, the sound of birdsong filled the air, and the tranquility was unmatched.
The visitor center staff were friendly and knowledgeable, offering insights and suggestions for making the most of my time at Maroon Bells. The facilities were well-maintained, ensuring a comfortable experience for all visitors.
If you're seeking a nature lover's paradise, Maroon Bells is an absolute must-visit destination. I left feeling rejuvenated, inspired, and in awe of the incredible beauty that nature has to offer.

I loved this place! There weren't many people when my family and I went, and the hiking trails were perfect. I would recommend coming here to anyone. My favorite part was the perfect length hiking trail, we saw so many deer, and my husband loved bird watching. Along the hike, there are streams and beautiful ponds of water. Im definitely coming back again.

Stunning!!
This beautiful piece of land is heavenly. And the fall colors add to the beauty.
You need bus service reservations to visit the Maroon bells, they do allow people without reservations to board the bus only after the reserved seats are occupied. I visited on a Sunday morning without reservation, but still was able to board the bus quickly.
You can bike to the area but it’s a bit far.

Heaven is the only right word. This place is so beautiful and awesome especially during the fall. Try to reserve your spot otherwise you have to get entry during morning hours between 6AM to 8Am. Campsites are excellent and you can see lots of stars and have a great time here. I highly recommend visiting this place.

Stunning; a must-see! This was one of our favorite experiences on the trip out to Colorado. With its beautiful lake and trails, we enjoyed it tremendously. The only thing was the flies; there were so many of them! It was insane how many there were. Some of these insects also bite.
Other than those bugs, the view of the practically rusting mountains will stay with me forever. The pictures you are able to get and the life you see are some of the best in the parks around. Overall, I absolutely recommend this place and the trails it offers. Bring a camera!

Standing at the heart of the Maroon Bells, Colorado's iconic twin peaks, I found myself immersed in a world of natural wonder that exceeded all expectations. The early morning air was crisp and clean, and the scent of pine trees surrounded me as I gazed upon the mirrored perfection of Maroon Lake. The water's surface was so still that it seemed like a flawless reflection of the towering, snow-capped Maroon Peaks above.
As I embarked on a serene hike along the Crater Lake Trail, the vibrant aspen leaves painted the landscape with shades of gold and crimson, a breathtaking autumn tapestry. The trail wound through groves of quaking aspens and fragrant evergreen forests, offering a symphony of nature's sounds – the rustling of leaves, the gentle babble of streams, and the occasional chirping of birds.
The experience of Maroon Bells, Colorado, was a reminder of the Earth's incredible beauty and its ability to inspire profound awe. It was a moment of perfect stillness, natural splendor, and a deep connection to the great outdoors, etching an indelible memory of serenity and wonder into my soul.

Wow, the Four Pass Loop in Colorado is an epic adventure! Went for a 3-day hike and it's no joke, but the views are totally worth it. Each pass felt like a huge accomplishment, with awesome panoramas at the top that make you forget about the grueling uphill.
Day 1 was the toughest uphill, going up buckskin pass. The altitude can hit you, so don't underestimate it. Camped at snowmass lake, totally beautiful, but somewhat crowded.
Day 2 was the biggest downhill challenge: I went up and over trail rider pass, and the downhill was Exhausting but exhilarating! Wildflowers were in bloom and the views were picture-perfect. You really feel like you're walking on top of the world.
Day 3 I covered the final two passes, Frigid Air and West Maroon.
The longest of the three days, but the climbs steep, but not as long. I made it back down safe and sound, though, with a sense of accomplishment that's hard to describe.
If you're looking for a hike that challenges you but gives back tenfold in awe-inspiring scenery, this is it. Just make sure you're prepared—physically and gear-wise. This trail doesn't mess around!

The area is really beautiful! It’s a great opportunity to see wildlife and enjoy the scenic views all around. In my opinion, it’s slightly overrated. Colorado is full of amazing scenery and this site just seemed okay in comparison to everything Colorado has to offer.
The Aspen Snowmass Ski Resort is composed of four vast ski areas and provides skiing lessons for both adults and children. This resort offers a fantastic skiing experience with abundant fresh powder, suitable for skiers of all levels. There are various above tree line skiing options available, providing breathtaking views from the mountain. It is conveniently accessible through public transportation from Aspen, Basalt, and Town Place lot (with free parking).
Such an expansive property with mountains of skiing. You can spend days here without hitting the same run twice. Lots of lifts allow you to quickly ascend to the mountain tops, where there are several restaurants and, well ski runs to enjoy.
Some of my favorites to play around with this year include: bonsai ridge into moonshine or Ute chute, sneaky’s, green cabin, naked lady, sandy park, and gunners view.

I’ve been coming to Snowmass Village to ski my entire life and it is the best ski resort in colorado. It has fantastic runs a wide range of difficulty and in the summer there are amazing hikes, mt. biking trails, and all the attractions at the top of Elk Camp. In the winter compared to many ski resorts it is practically empty. Love this place

This place has the best terrain for everyone. Great learning to expert with wonderful transitions and gullys on most trails. Every trail that isn't double black or in the trees is wide and allows you to ski in an uncrowded environment.
I'd recommend this place to anyone.

Large number of groomed blue slopes, a couple of groomed blacks, and several great black diamond, and double black diamond runs. Plenty of variety to keep you entertained for several weeks. Good selection of on-slope restaurants (they are, of course, expensive though - as in all ski resorts!). Would love to go back.

Great ski experience. Snowed a lot around Christmas time in 2021. Literally fresh powder everyday. Plenty options for skiers of all experience level. Several above tree line ski options. The view from the mountain was beautiful. Easily accessible through public transportations from Aspen, Basalt, and Town Place lot (free parking).
Biggest plus point in my opinion is the relatively short lift lines comparing to places like Park City and Vail.

Beautiful ski resort. They have snow tubing and a coaster ride as well. Free ice skating. The beginner slope at the top (near snow tubing) closes earlier around 3 I'm guessing. Last gondola ride time is unclear with multiple answers from staff. Ski rental process is smooth and straight forward. Friendly and helpful staff. Had the best time here.

Arriving the the reception desk checked me in and neglected to tell me that I need to go one elevator bank go to the 3rd floor, then go way down a hall and I mean way down. Then get on another very slow elevator to get to the 6th floor. Shocker there are 2 sixth floors. Get in the room and the lights don't work. I call the front desk and no answer also the mailbox is full. So I call reservations and they get to someone that tells me I have to put my room key in some receptacle by the door. Well it is dark in the room and you can't see the receptacle. Wow, I did speak to the manager and was moved to a more convenient room. Not great for a conference at all.

Best of all the big resorts hands down. Went out early season today and my experience of Aspen was… It is a beautiful town, better parking situation than any resort (shuttles as well). Locals were excellent, staff was friendly/helpful, conditions and layout of the resort was impeccable. Do not think you can’t hit 3 mountains in a day they make it easy and fun!!!!
The John Denver Sanctuary is a landscaped retreat located alongside the Roaring Fork River in Aspen. This park pays homage to the music icon John Denver, featuring lush grass, perennial flowers and engraved rocks with his lyrics etched on them. Visitors can take time to reflect on their experiences in Aspen and what the Rocky Mountains mean to them. The park boasts stunning gardens, water features such as ponds and streams, creating a serene atmosphere for all who visit.
What lyrics describe the ineluctable glory of the Rocky Mountains better than John Denver's "Rocky Mountain High"? I assume that's why Aspen's Parks and Open Spaces department decided to create the John Denver Sanctuary.
(In case you forget the lyrics, they are engraved on a large boulder.)
Some of John Denver's other songs are also engraved on stones as is the wisdom of Carl Sagan.
The Sanctuary sits between the gloriously green Rio Grande Park and the mighty Roaring Fork River (which does indeed roar.)
The sanctuary part is a grassy area with stones arranged in a semi-circle amphitheater style. It's the perfect place to sit and contemplate. Be still and you can hear the rush of the river mix with the happy chirping of birds. Somehow those Colorado skies are a sparkling azure blue.
I like to walk on the paved path riverside. It gently meanders along the river banks. Beautiful flowers add vivid splashes of color.
Whenever life becomes a battlefield, I like to along the river in the Sanctuary. Somehow the river washes away the anger and I feel ready to take the @#$%!
A must if you show up in Aspen.

Although small, I'd say this park is worth a visit while in Aspen. It is a vfery serene and inspiring park. We enjoyed the peace and quiet as well as a family sing along of Annie's Song and Sunshine on my Shoulders. The views of the river and the mountains are spectacular. There is a few street parking spaces, but there's also a public parking garage.

I come and walk through here everytime I visit Aspen.
In my opinion Aspen and this sanctuary are the most beautiful places on Earth.
If you come in the summer months, the trees will be green and the colors of the flowers really pop.
If you come in the fall, you'll see all the Aspen trees in shades of gold, orange and there's vibrant reds as well mixed with the greens of the pines.
The spring will have the trees blooming.
Words could never do this place justice. Take a look at online pictures to see a glimpse of what you can experience.

How sweet it is to love someone, how right it is to care.
Friends around the campfire and everybody's high.
He walks in quiet solitude, the forest and the streams.
Seeking grace in every step he takes.
His sight has turned inside himself to try and understand
The serenity of a clear blue mountain lake.
And they say that he got crazy once and he tried to touch the sun.
It was very hot and that was the end.
Kermit was very upset.

This is a wonderful tribute. The path is a little rugged for those with mobility issues. It is located beside the Roaring Fork River on the SE side of Aspen. The giant bolers with John's lyrics are easily found and places provide for quiet contemplation.

Visited this place on a winter day and enjoyed it very much. Worth a stop while in Aspen.
Sunlight Mountain Resort offers a variety of winter activities including snowmobile tours, cross-country skiing and access to 67 trails. During the summer months, visitors can enjoy hiking and biking. The staff at the resort are known for being very friendly and helpful, particularly those working in the rental area. Children's ski school is also available with instructors who take pride in teaching young ones how to ski. Visitors with little experience are able to learn more about skiing and enjoy it over multiple days.
Love Sunlight ski resort! We were staying in Aspen but heard such good things about Sunlight we decided to try them out. The price for all things was on point and us being somewhat beginner skiers we wanted something affordable. Right from the start when renting out gear the staff was amazing. They joked and had fun with our whole family and made us feel comfortable as soon as we walked in the door. The staff all around was helpful and friendly. Plenty of seating inside and out. I loved how the locals and the visitor's we're pretty much ready to talk or lend a helping hand when me or my son fell. My husband hung out on deck watching and chatting with the friendlies. The last run of the day I fell wrong and hurt my wrist, hip and knee so had my son go get help since I wasn't able to make it back down the hill. Bobby came to my rescue and helped me onto the sled and safely down the mountain. We will for sure be back and this time we'll stay and play here at Sunlight and highly recommend.

The lifts are old and slow, but no one seems to mind since you will wait in line for it for 0 minutes usually. The runs are fabulous and totally unique vs other places in Colorado. The lift tickets are also relatively cheap. This is the best place to avoid a crowd and have the mountain to yourself.

A great "locals" ski resort! My son and I took ski lessons which were fun and exhausting. We were placed in a large group but the four instructors kept it fun and real. From the lesson window, rental store, to the lifts , the staff were helpful and smiling. The place is off the beaten path and the parking lots filled up pretty quick. There are enough slopes that it seemed like the runs were fairly empty. The lines moved quickly if there were any. Family friendly, Awesome staff everywhere and great environment overall. The prices were cheaper than the Fancy resorts nearby. If you enjoy skiing or snowboarding and not needing the frills of stores at the base then this place is a must experience.

Me & my significant other went to snowmobile here. We went for the longer trip (2.5hrs). It was an amazing experience. It was our first time trying. The instructors were very kind & very very helpful. They made it 10x better to be honest. Views were absolutely astonishing. The snowmobiles are very fun & fast as well.

Fun times to be had here for sure but be warned that it is particularly tricky in many places to have sufficient momentum to make it up the rolling hills that many trails take you through. I had to take my bindings off and walk in several places, several times at this resort. Still had a great day and will definitely come back
Rifle Falls State Park, located near Glenwood Springs, is a picturesque park boasting stunning waterfalls, limestone caves and an abundance of wildlife. With several hiking trails and picnic areas available, visitors can enjoy the park's natural beauty while exploring the diverse flora and fauna that call it home. The triple waterfall is a must-see attraction within the park, along with its small yet fascinating limestone caves which add to its unique charm.
This is an awesome state park. It can be very sketchy if it is icy. Very, very sketch. But, it is beautiful. The Limestone Caves are very neat to explore. Lots of trout swimming around. Just pure beauty... and make sure to drive up the creek into the Gorge. It is better than some national parks!!

This place is awesome, the views from below, behind and above the waterfalls are breathtaking. There are caves throughout the park some are easily accessible others are a bit challenging but doable. There's several trails and some have handrails when needed. On the top their is a gorgeous pond and other scenic adventures. Entry fee is $9 for day pass or they offer state park yearly fees. Would highly recommend this place.

The Falls are pretty neat to go visit. I recommend going early, before 10 am, if you want a parking space at the bottom side. There is only room for 32 cars and it's very busy over the weekend. There is a little space to park up above next to the Fish Hatchery, but it's also very limited and it's a decent walk from there to the top of the falls. It will also cost $10 for the state park pass but it's good for any Colorado state park until noon the next day. That's if you don't already have a pass or the special license plate tags.

Definitely worth the price of admission. The falls are beautiful and the caves there are equally interesting. The trails are easy, not too long. Some sections have stairs. Scenic around the falls and caves.

We have been taking the kids here for well over a decade and always have a wonderful!!! They have multiple trails and all are fairly easy to trek with the chillins throughout the whole park. We have definitely had the opportunity to camp in a trailer as well as a tent. This place accommodates both very well. Very gorgeous views the whole hike through. Also we like to hit the fish hatchery and the ice caves when we do come out this way

Great price at $10 for a day pass for entire carload of people. Easy hiking trails for all Abilities of hikers young & old, main part of trail in front of waterfall easily wheelchair accessible, not much past that first big trail though. Caves were great for the kids to crawl through and many brought their 4 legged friends also. Overall the beauty was well worth it and wasn't too over crowded on a weekday around 11am.

Small but beautiful park.
The falls: No hiking required to view. Parking area right by the falls. There are several different viewpoints from the above, behind and below if you hike the short trail.
The caves: Several small caves you can go in and one large one that goes about 90ft in. Went in at dark with flashlights. Neat experience.
The campground: Very small and at the park entrance, so every visitor to the park will be driving through the campground to view the falls. As you are entering the park, the campsites on the right side have a small river behind them.
Wildlife: Saw turkeys and mule deer
Other things to know: 2 restrooms, no showers, free wifi access.

One of the best camping trips and it was so beautiful. Rangers and attendants were very helpful. The tent site 014 was the best one in my opinion not to far from parking lot surrounded by nature. This was a beautiful little gem we found in this quaint town of Rifle. We paid the 9-dollar day use fee and took the small hike to the 3 beautiful waterfalls. These waterfalls flow into a cute little fairy tale type brook. The 3 waterfalls, by themselves, make you feel as if you've been transported to Hawaii for a minute. You can easily climb/hike up behind the waterfalls to explore some small limestone caves that look pretty cool. If you continue on the coyote trail, which is up and behind the falls, you will see a little fishing pond. You can also get a fantastic aerial shot at the top of the falls. There are picnic tables around so you can bring a lunch and enjoy a nice picnic.

Rifle Falls are such a beautiful triple waterfall that exceeded our expectations. The trail takes the hiker up to the falls then around to the top and back down to the other side. There are some really cool rock formations as well as caves along the trail. There view of the falls from each point is spectacular!

This was a wonderful surprise to find outside if Rifle.
The loop walk takes you past small caves, and up to the top of the waterfalls where they have several platforms to view the gals from the top. Once you come back down there are also multiple viewing areas with great photo opportunities. The mist coming off the falls was so refreshing on a hot day.
The park is clean with multiple picnic tables and overnight camping spots

An absolutely beautiful park! Plenty of hiking trails to pick from. Not to mention the waterfalls, caves, and camping sites. Definitely a must see! And wow, the river below the falls is crystal clear....

Great short hike for the family. Not difficult at all. The caves were so cool. I wish I would have had a better flash light than the one on my phone. So we could have explored them a little better.
The falls were really cool even late into July early August, running strong. We hiked up to the top of them to the look outs.
At the top there are some ponds and I believe there is some fishing there.

We enjoyed our time at Rifle Falls state park. We hiked a couple of the trails and stood in the mist of the waterfall on a hot day. Between the sound of the water and the birds, we found the park to be tranquil. We traveled from AZ and camped somewhat close to the park at Elk Creek campground. There was limited parking, but thankfully we were able to find a spot in the last lot. There is camping available within the park, which we may try on our next trip up to the area. We're planning a return trip next year so that we can explore the park and surrounding areas more. The park has a small entrance fee - if I remember correctly it was around $10 which is well worth it if you have time to explore.

It's about 20 minutes north of the interstate, but well worth a stop if you're near Rifle, CO. We just stopped to visit the falls but they have some camping there as well. The falls were wonderful and depending on the time of day you go they cast a great rainbow. There are pit toilets for restrooms. You do have to pay a entrance fee.

Made the drive to see this beauty during our stay from Omaha to Glenwood Springs. First time seeing a waterfall .. it was surreal. Mother nature is amazing.

I had a few spare hours while in Rifle and decided to visit the falls. It was well worth the visit.
Hit up the Coyote trail for the best views of the falls. Around the base things will be crowded, but at the top and the vantage points on the way down aren't, and give you a great view of the falls.
The park itself was clean and well used. Staff were very helpful, but parking may be an issue.

Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park is a family amusement park located in Glenwood Springs, Colorado that features a variety of activities such as cave tours and rides. The park is known for its alpine coaster, zip line, and theater with moving seats.
Sooooo fun! We had a blast! The view is amazing! There weren’t any lines to wait in and the staff were so kind! We had Becca as a tour guide through one of the caves and it was a great tour! She was funny and very knowledgeable about all of the tour!

Great unique experience. Small mountain top adventure and thrill ride park. The thrill rides were so fun. Cave tours nice and the staff guides were so knowledgeable and engaging. Resturant reasonable, food good, views excellent. Small size of the park made it perfect for a relaxed day. Lines were not terrible. Good stop for sure.

We travel all over the country visiting as many amusement and theme parks as we can. This park has been a bucket list for us and it exceeded our high expectations.
We went on a perfect early summer weekday. It was a little busy and allow a lot of time to get through the process of ticketing and getting up the mountain. We bought our tickets online, but there was still a long wait to sign waivers and get on board a gondola.
Once up top, you are greeted by amazing views everywhere you look. Alpine Coaster is the main draw and the lines were long. Your experience on the coaster will depend on who is going down the hill in front of you. If you like speed and adrenaline, you’ll probably come up on someone going slow.
The other long wait for us was the giant canyon swing, but totally worth it. Ride it twice, one trip on each side as they both offer completely different experiences.
The food and drink was great, with a restaurant kind of hidden behind the gift shop that offers great views while you eat.
One thing that stood out was how friendly and eager the park staff were towards the guests. It really made for a delightful experience.
We hope to come back someday, because the park must have a different look and feel as the seasons change and it would be nice to experience more!

This place is a ton of fun. It starts with a gondola ride up a mountain to the park. From there you can venture to the caves which is a neat experience. Get the funnel cake fries with apples and ice cream. Super yum! There is the Alpine coaster which my 3 year old loved. We went the week before Christmas. I do not recommend this as 80% of the attractions are closed. Although this does mean you have a very small crowd so there is not much of a line for what little is open. We will come back during summer to check everything out.
Steven Cody — Google review
It was about $300 for a family of 8, it was super fun! I recommend going on a week day because the weekends would be more crowded. We didn’t stand in line for more than 15 minuets for rides. Make sure to go with kiddos that are 6+ years old or it’s not as fun. The food is reasonably priced and the ride up is super fun! We saw the caves and that was super cool too, tour guide Shae was awesome! Make sure to check out the mountain side swing ride with Thomas because he’s a great instructor for your first crazy ride! Overall a 10/10 experience!

This place is amazing. What else can you ask for?? Roller coasters on a mountain?! Dope. Would be nice if they had vegetarian/vegan options and a couple rides were closed. Otherwise, I can’t wait to come back here with my whole family. Caves were great, the coaster is SO FUN, and the tree swing is my favorite ride ever.

Always a crowd-pleaser--visited with an extended family group with ages ranging from 2-70. Everyone had a great time with lots of options for the elementary-aged kids, the grandparents, and more challenging attractions for the group in their 20's. After our gondola ride up, we all enjoyed several trips on the Alpine Coaster--always a thrill! The 20's -30's group set off for a previously scheduled "Wild Tour" while the over 60+ group stayed with the kids. We alternated between the 2 caves tours--always informative & engaging as they are led by guides who truly love what they do--and a multitude of age-appropriate attractions for the kids, including laser tag, fossil digging, both smaller roller coasters, a small Ferris wheel and pictures with the trolls after a troll hunt. It was so nice to be able to say "yes" to everything the kids wanted to do with a Fun Day pass. After we reunited with the Wild Tour group, we had plenty of time to explore the Canyon Swing, Defiance, Crystal Tower and the Tree Swings together. The staff is always attentive and friendly and the park is just the right size to explore fully in a day. Even the rest stops in the central plaza were pleasant with live music, convenient restrooms, water bottle refill stations and sunblock. Highly recommended that you spend a day here. You won't regret it!

We have vacationed in different parts of Colorado a few times over the years, but this was far and away my favorite thing that we have done while there. Such a neat experience. The rollercoasters were fun, the restaurant was great, the cave tours were a relaxing way to get out of the heat for a little while, and the staff were all so friendly. We did go during the week so that may play into it a little bit, but the waits were not bad at all, the most that we had to wait was for the mountain coaster and even that was only around 20 minutes. Even just the gondola ride up to the top is a fun experience. We will definitely be back.
Peyton Davis — Google review
I had a fantastic visit here! Buy tickets ahead of time - get there when they open (or before!) and ride the coaster and the zip line first, before the crowds arrive! The coaster isn't much fun when you're slowed down by all the people in front of you.
The proper roller coaster here - the cliffhanger - isn't much to shout about - it feels like it's about to fall apart any minute. I enjoyed more the swings, the giant swing, and the cave tours. The drop tower is definitely the most thrilling/scary - it all happens a lot faster than you would think. The weirdest thing about the park's rides in general is the overall lack of anything to hold on to to make you feel more secure. The zip line, the drop ride, overall - you have a lap belt and nothing more. I guess that adds to the thrills?
I really did enjoy the cave tours a lot - King's Row is smaller and on a holiday weekend or anytime it's extra busy, it's self guided. But if you show up early or on a less crowded day, you get a guided tour. The larger system, the Fairy Caves, is always a 40 minute guided tour and it was the highlight of the day - super fun.

This was even better than I imagined it would be! To be honest, I thought the price seemed a little steep for what I expected to find. We ended up loving it so much we went twice. The views are incredible, the caves are gorgeous and have great guides, and the rides are SO fun! A perfect day of fun for the family. Get there early before it heats up, the lines are shorter too!

We had a nice time at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park. We just bought tickets to the caverns and Gondola. The caves are big and there are 2 different ones to go into. There are lots of rides up top. Definitely a fun time. You can add rides to your ticket if you decide to do it once you are up top.
Tahny D — Google review
Great little adventure park! A few big rides, some which really get adrenaline going.
The crystal cavern drop was intense. Their new coaster drops you straight down before whipping around with amazing views of Glenwood Springs below.
Stopped by the restaurant for a break and food. The staff was awesome.
Happened to see a fire on the way down. A little scary, but seemed to have been taken care of.
Grant Mellor — Google review
Came here during the week in Summer. Arrived around 2p, so many from the morning crowd was already gone. It was still plenty of time to ride all the rides.
After buying tickets at the bottom, you ride the gondola up to the main entrance. It's a small park, but there's a lot of fun rides for every age group or level of adventure. Lines weren't long at all, with most rides having no line at all. The longest wait was about 30 minutes for the Alpine Coaster which was my favorite ride. The coasters didn't have any lines. The Giant Swing was about 10 minutes and was my second favorite ride that was both exhilarating and had a great view. The tower drop didn't have a line. The Canyon Flyer was less than 5 minutes.
If you don't want to do rides, there's 2 cave tours as options as a different ticket than the Funday ticket.
Fun place for the family to enjoy some rides without long lines.

We had such a good time! On vacation from Indiana and passed through Glenwood Springs. We decided to stop and stay there on a whim, so glad we did!
Caves were awesome, the rides were all thrill rides. Even just riding to the top to look around would be worth the money.
It is off season, so some rides were on an alternating schedule but we still made the best of it. Our kids are 7 & 9 and loved it. Would highly recommend! Also had military discounts for tickets.

Update: Feb 10, 2024 - We still had a great time. We went through both caves and rode the Alpine Coaster again. I highly recommend the visit! They do charge $5 for parking now if you don't have an annual pass.
We made 3 visits in two days. Love the ride up in the gondola. The Fairy Cave tour was interesting and educational. We also rode the Alpine Coaster each visit. Very fun and exciting. The Annual Pass is very much worth the cost if you can get in a couple of visits.

Hanging Lake is a small and crystal-clear lake located at the top of Glenwood Canyon, accessible via a hiking trail. The lake is known for its stunning bridal veil waterfalls and unique suspension appearance due to mossy stones that are all under water. The hike up to Hanging Lake is mostly an incline, but it offers breathtaking scenic views along the way. Visitors can take a bus up to the trailhead and enjoy viewing areas with benches upon arrival.

Amazing hike but a challenging one if you are not an every day hiker or from the Midwest like myself. Definitely take more water than you think, wear adequate hiking shoes and take your time and multiple breaks. Worth the hike to see the views and waterfalls.

We took a ski break day and decide to check out Hanging Lake. We were advised by the ranger to have micro spikes on our hiking shoes which was really good advice. The hike was short but steep so it was huffing and puffing on the ascent but scenery was beautiful and covered in thick snow despite really warm winter weather. The only tricky section was right on top, where there was railings, esp on the way down. Definitely check out the waterfall (short 200 yards trail on the left of the lake). An online permit is needed - $10/per person.

Hanging Lake is one of the most iconic places to visit in Colorado. The hike can be a bit strenuous especially if you are not used to the altitude, but it's not terrible. Just give yourself plenty of time as there are some steep areas up the hill. The lake itself is beautiful. There are wonderful views from every angle and the pictures here will last you a lifetime! Just make sure you take the time to go a little further up to Spouting Rock which is what feeds Hanging Lake and it is also a beautiful waterfall to see. I highly recommend going to see Hanging Lake at different times of the year as it completely changes with the seasons and I love it in the winter as well. Make sure you get the permit and make a day out of this beautiful Colorado gem!

I recently had the opportunity to hike to Hanging Lake, and I must say it's one of the most amazing hikes in Colorado! The trail is moderate with a 1000ft elevation gain over just 1.2 miles, making it accessible for most hikers.
One of the highlights of this hike is the stunning waterfalls that you encounter along the way. The sound of rushing water and the beauty of these falls will keep your eyes busy and provide the perfect backdrop for your journey.
One thing to keep in mind is that you'll need a reservation for this hike, which costs $12. This reservation system helps preserve the natural beauty of the area and ensures that it's not overcrowded.
The real gem at the end of the trail is, of course, Hanging Lake itself. Its crystal-clear waters and unique geological formations make it a sight to behold. But don't stop there! After Hanging Lake, there's a quick 5-minute hike to another waterfall, and trust me, it's absolutely worth visiting. The entire experience is a nature lover's dream.
Overall, if you're in Colorado and looking for a memorable outdoor adventure, make sure to put Hanging Lake on your list. It's a hike that combines natural beauty, a bit of a challenge, and the reward of discovering these magnificent waterfalls.

A MUST SEE! This was one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen and well worth the difficult hike. Make sure you’re prepared with correct footwear that will support climbing up rocks and uneven paths. Make sure you get a permit in order to enter the Trail. They do check your permit in the parking lot and then there is another person at the beginning of the trail now the trail is very steep in some parts and part of it. You’re just basically walking on big rocks that they try to make it to stairs. Our family did bring some oxygen which did help since we were not used to the altitude. There are seven bridges that you cross once you get to the top it is a magnificent view one like you’ve never seen. After you take in Hanging Lake walk up to the waterfalls where you can go behind a big waterfall. It was very heavy because of all the snow melt when we were there in June if you have hiking poles, definitely bring them as they will help you going back down the trail. Use the restroom before you get on the trail near the parking lot.

The resort boasts exceptional infrastructure with convenient parking and shuttle services, lift ticket windows, comfortable seating areas with fireplaces. Visitors appreciate the helpful and friendly staff who provide information and directions both in the village and on the mountain.

Outstanding resort infrastructure - parking & shuttles, lift ticket windows, benches, comfortable chairs & fireplaces
Friendly staff offering information & directions, in the village and on the mountain
Great lifts plus a gondola, extremely conscientious lift operators.
Phenomenal trails, terrain, variety and conditions.
Every afternoon at 3 PM - delicious chocolate chip cookies, fresh out of the oven

RIP OFF! It's a nice place to ski/snowboard. Not much different than Vail,Winter park, etc. They rip you off for the lift tickets. Before our trip, I looked up prices for lift tickets. Their website said a single day adult lift ticket was around $137. A couple of weeks later, we arrive to buy lift tickets (travel from out of state), and the price doubled to around $260 per person! The website didn't say anything about doubling the price for any reason. What they did should be illegal. Bait and switch. SCAM! Then they want all your personal information just to buy a lift ticket. Why?! Do they sell your info? No disclaimer on what they do with your info.

This is a world class ski resort that is less crowded and easier to navigate than it's sister resort Vail. There is a good variety of terrain and all high speed lifts to get up and around the mountains. Each area is more or less self contained and it's pretty easy to get from one mountain to another. The employees are nice and helpful. On mountain dining was fairly expensive, but the food was very good. Buy your Epic Pass early to save money.

Great mountain for beginners. They have 3 separate beginner areas (Haymeadow, Red Buffalo Park, and McCoy Park). McCoy is AWESOME, it's a bowl with lots of varied terrain and you can really make each run your own -even as a beginner).
And of course, the village is super cute (though overpriced).

One of my favorite mountains!!! If you stay until the end of the day they bring out trays of chocolate chips cookies to give away. It’s east to get around on this mountain for snowboarders with not too many cat tracks you need to skate on. I always think this mountain doesn’t get as crowded as Vail and Breck. Nice village center with a lot of shops. Caught some fresh snow great day! They have free parking with shuttle buses but I think it’s worth it to park at Ford Hall Garage. It’s so close to the Centennial Express lift.

I ❤️ my experience in Beaver Creek.
This was my first time skiing ⛷️ there.
I found parking was easy and their free shuttle to the village was quick, efficient, and easy. It drops you off right in front of the covered bridge. And it's a 3-minute walk to the escalators that take you to the lifts.
I found Beaver Creek easy to navigate and the escalators magnificent to take you up and down from the base of the mountain.

Simply the best. Beyond beautiful. Never seems crowded. Friendly. Superb restaurants.

One of our favorite ski resorts! It’s quieter and less crowded than Vail, and there’s a ton of terrain variability to keep beginners and experts alike occupied

Amazing resort
Open secret.
They still do the free chocolate cookies everyday at 3
Amazing for beginners and experts alike.
Wonderful treed areas as well

Best ski resort for convenience, ease of access, luxury, and short lift lines. Sure it’s not a back country skiers paradise, but it is big, and well groomed even in times of limited snowfall. The luxury and level of convenience makes Deer Valley look like Winter Park

Beaver Creek wants to pretend like they're this amazing, supportive family destination. We've been coming here every year for almost a decade, and it gets worse and worse every single year.
BC - especially early season - does not really care about families. In fact, I think the most straightforward way to put it is to say that all BC cares about is money. When you show up as an adult, the assumption is that you have money that they can squeeze out of you. When you show up with kids, they assume that means they'll get even more money. Example: BC has a 'beginner' lift pass that only works in the bunny slope area. It used to be $30 a day, which is pretty reasonable. It's now climbed up to $52/day, for no reason at all. Also, other resorts will allow use of carpet lifts for free, but BC wants a lift pass to use them. Gotta pay money to learn to ski/board! If you want to get your kids lessons, you're looking at some of the most expensive rates in the country. Crazy idea: kids ski lessons should be dirt cheap because if you get children into the hobby, they grow up to be people who will spend money doing it. My kids missed out getting lessons because we didn't want to drop $450/day on it. Will they grow up to be adults who like to ski? Who knows...
Additionally, you need to know that at Beaver Creek, you are not a priority to them unless it's financially beneficial for them. Early season skiers and boarders are an afterthought when Birds of Prey race is looming... what? Your kids want beginner terrain? Too bad, we need to groom that race course!
The workers here are superstars. They all have incredible attitudes and are as helpful as can be, given the employer. BC doesn't seem to treat them very well but whenever we needed help the rank and file were happy to help us out.
As far as the terrain and mountain conditions, this is a fantastic resort. There's something for everyone here, the lift lines are usually very reasonable on any given day, and there's a lot of mountain to explore. Plenty of side hits, features, glades, moguls, etc. It's a great setup. The "Chondola" (chair lift with a gondola every 6th spot) is a fantastic feature for people who don't like sitting exposed to the weather for 5+ minute climbs up the mountain or for kids. The snow here is luxurious most of the time, except very early season when it tends to be sparse (mostly because they refuse to open up anything until after Birds of Prey race). And the ski patrol/safety patrol are generally pretty nice and helpful.

Wonderful and cozy place in the beautiful mountains. Friendly staff, the rooms are very comfortable and you will have a great view!. Also has a pool, hot spring, steam room and good gym!

First time here was right after 10" fresh snow. First run was Peregrine (in video) and no one had touched it yet. It was like bouncing on pillows the whole way down. Best run of my life. I immediately quit snowboarding after that because nothing could beat that. Also I didn't really care about the cookies until a literal chef just handed me one as I was walking back exhausted from the day.

Vail is a petite locality located at the bottom of Vail Mountain, which houses the extensive Vail Ski Resort. The town is situated within White River National Forest and serves as an entry point for winter sports enthusiasts seeking to engage in skiing and snowboarding. Additionally, it's also a preferred summer destination for cultural festivities, hiking, and golfing activities. Gore Creek flows directly through the central part of the town and is popular among fly fishing enthusiasts.

The Betty Ford Alpine Gardens in Vail, Colorado is a botanical garden with a wide variety of flowers and plants. The gardens attract more than 100,000 visitors each year and are heavily influenced by President Gerald Ford and his wife, Betty. The Education Center at the garden attracts more than 5,000 students each year for tours and other educational events.
Wowed by this place! Sept 1st visit and you could see that many of the flowers were getting to the end of their blooming season but still so beautiful. We spent a good hour just walking around and taking it in. Amazed at all the plants from all over the world.

It seems like a small garden at first but it is anything but. The trails keep winding around. Maybe all the plants aren't labeled but the thematic Alpine gardens were beautiful. There were additional features like water falls. The gift shop had an awesome assortment of yard art. We spent way too much! Highly recommend.

Betty Ford Alpine Garden and Ford Park is within walking distance from Vail Village. One can take shuttle from Vail Village or follow a trail along Gore Creek for about 10-15 minute walk. The trail is running behind several condos, hotels and offering chance to see some wildlives of several birds, plants. Around end of October, most of plants are entering dormant.

What a beautiful park. The strolling through with wonderful water features. Fall in the air and the changing of the leaves made this one of my favorite stops in Vail. I gotta get back up here during full bloom.

Beautiful flowers and exotic plants are immersed in a native mountain environment. The gardens are extremely well-maintained. The entire experience is amazing and refreshing.
You can park at the Vail Garage for free. The walk to the park in itself is gorgeous and only takes ten minutes. You can also park at the gardens very easily unless there a big event going on.
There is a large kid's playground, a perfectly manicured grass field, and the gorgeous Eagle River right next to the gardens. They'd even a bathroom and tables to rest at and enjoy. Top it off with a neat little gift shop and an amphitheater to compete this gem! Really a must visit when in Vail or even driving by I70!

Beautiful! I loved the planning that went into this park and the surrounding area; it’s not a closed-off area; it blends into the surrounding parks and village perfectly. The plants here all have labels and tags, along with stories for some. The variety of plants and colors is beautiful. The pictures you're able to get with a macro are amazing and beautifully done. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this place for kids and adults for all the beauty, kid-friendly gardens, and activities.

Absolutely gorgeous botanical garden! There is no admission fee. They do have a recommended donation of $20 per person, which seems steep (for comparison, my own hometown's world-class botanical garden is $14 for general admission, and is at least 30x as big as this garden; we also visited Denver Botanic Gardens on our vacation, and spent $15 per adult, for an area about 15x as large).
I liked how it was arranged with different sections dedicated to different regions or specific subcategories of alpine regions. Including a stop at the playground and in the education center, we spent about 45 minutes here.

The Betty Ford Alpine Gardens in Vail, CO is an amazing place to spend a peaceful day surrounded by exquisite natural beauty. Right from the moment you enter the gardens, you are mesmerized by the beautiful landscapes and architecture. The gardens are extremely well-designed and maintained, providing visitors with a chance to stroll through magnificent wildflowers, trees, and grasses.
Walking amidst the tall trees, flowing streams, and flowers of all colors and sizes felt therapeutic and calming. The sound of birds chirping added to the serene ambiance of the gardens and gave a feeling of being close to nature. I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the many trails, benches and pavilions dotted throughout the gardens.
The knowledgeable volunteers at Betty Ford Alpine Gardens were more than happy to share their wisdom and answer my questions, making the visit even more interesting and informative. Overall, it was an amazing experience that left me feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. I would highly recommend the Betty Ford Botanical Gardens to anyone visiting Vail, CO.

Wandering around the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens is the perfect way to spend an afternoon. All of the plants are labeled, and there are a number of placards around the paths to learn about the various plants and the climates they're native to. I learned a lot, took some beautiful pictures, and I'll bring friends with me the next time I visit.

We had an absolutely stellar time this past Saturday. The guides were incredible (wish I could remember their names). They explained everything so well and we always felt safe and well taken care of. Every line was so much fun and the views were gorgeous.
It was also really nice to have a winery right next door where we could enjoy a glass of wine at the end of the day.
I definitely recommend checking them out if you’re in the area.

Had an incredible time with Jimmy and Weston at Zip Adventures. Reef took some incredible pictures for our entire family to enjoy as well. The staff was well trained, had great senses of humor, took their time with each person in our group, and really made it an unforgettable adventure. Drinks and snacks were a great touch as well. The views on the zip lines are amazing, and the free fall bungee drop was an added thrill adventure we all enjoyed. This really is a not-to-be-missed activity when in the area!

While I am sure the zip lining is great, I was extremely disappointed with the customer service. While I do not doubt that the weather was fine at 4pm in Wolcot, the company has failed to understand repeatedly that the hail & rain in between our location and the site made it impossible for us to get there by 3:30. We were very excited for the experience, but were not willing to risk our safety to get there. Please see video below for reference.

Parents and teen did first ever zip lining coming from a flatland/prairie area of Tx and had a phenomenal experience. I am absolutely, genuinely terrified of heights and the best thing they said was that I would never experience the stomach drop sensation along the regular lines, and they were correct. I went in tandem to get my courage up the first two lines. Jimmy from NY and Nick from Chicago were the guides, and unlike many adventure experiences in mountain towns we have tried where you have to wonder how trained and experienced the guides were, they were extremely competent and professional, taking all safety measures very seriously and repeating them often. As a bonus, they were also friendly, funny and made the experience wholly enjoyable. I did not catch the name of the woman running the reservations and sign-in/store, but she was also incredibly helpful, patient and encouraging of any questions or concerns. Could not recommend this excursion, company or team more highly.

AMAZING EXPERIENCE - Even for little ones!
I brought my two little ones (ages 3 and 4) and they were scared at first, but Mattie at the front desk was so sweet, and the guides did an amazing job of making them feel comfortable, and by the time they made it across the first zip line they couldn't wait to do it again and again! By the third zip line they were both going hands-free! Our guides, James and Nick, were INCREDIBLE. They were accommodating to our young ones in a sincere customer-oriented way, and kept us laughing the whole time. They truly went above and beyond and made it a memorable experience. The kids have asked at least two dozen times to come again! We will be back! :)

My son and I had an amazing time. Our guides Corey & Chris were amazing. I would highly recommend if you are around Wolcott, CO (close to Vail). I wish I would have found them sooner.
Our family of 4 (includes an 8 & 9 yr old) took the 2 hour trail ride and loved it! Our guide was Shade, he was very personable, knowledgeable, helpful and looked out for us the whole ride. Beautiful scenery, very majestic and peaceful. We would recommend Rusty Spurr to everyone and will certainly visit them again next time we’re in Colorado. One thing to plan for is leave enough time to get to the ranch, once you turn off the main road to the ranch, it’s still another 15-20 min ride.

We had an amazing time! We did an hour long ride with Shane. My boyfriend rode Crab man and I rode Maverick. The ranch was beautiful as were the horses. Our hostess Paula was super welcoming and kind. We ended up with a private ride due to another person not showing up. The scenery is amazing and Shane had some great stories to tell. He also snapped some photos for us. It was a well priced overall great experience thank you!

The Rusty Spurr Ranch has been THE BEST place for me to ride for over 20 years. The horses are amazing! They are treated by the owners like family members and cared for with love. The wranglers are exceptional individuals who really care that you are having a wonder experience. The views from the trail rides or the Cattledrives are simply amazing. Wildlife can be spotted from time to time from prong horn antelope to golden eagles.
Definitely a place to experience. You will have a wonderful time and meet wonderful new people. The owners Han, Connie and their son Wyatt Smith are wonderful, knowledgeable and exceptional people that will definitely leave you with the best impression. Go and enjoy this beautiful ranch!

The rusty spurr ranch exceeded expectations. We had a stay planned in Estes Park, it was canceled last minute and we had to cancel all of our activities. We were able to locate stay up in Granby and while searching for ranches to do trail rides, the rusty spurr was the only one we called who was willing to accommodate us and even pulled a horse for my young daughter who recently had a birthday so she could ride. That level of customer service and caring is something you can’t put a price on. My daughters face and the joy she had knowing she was going to get to ride meant the world to us. This isn’t a boring follow the Leader type ride, you ride side-by-side, through multiple levels and terrains, it is like a real ride. We have been on multiple rides throughout Colorado and this was easily the best and our favorite. We will be back and cannot stress how great of an experience we had. Our guide shade was awesome, very knowledgeable show us a bunch of areas and explain stories to us, took bunch of pictures for us. If you were in the area, this is the place you want to go to and this is the ride you want to go on. Trust me.

I have been on many rides in Colorado throughout my life and this was the best, without question. The views were breathtaking, the staff was extremely friendly and fun, and the horses were healthy and well-trained for any level of rider. Unlike many other stables, this is not a strict a nose to tail ride and you have the flexibility to take different paths and breakaway from the group with your horse. This kept the ride exciting, creative, and engaging.

My daughter and I went on the cattle drive. Hon was an incredible guide and his rapport with his animals is magical to watch. He truly is the real deal. The horses were well trained, well cared for, in great shape, and a pleasure to ride. Definitely not your typical trail horse! These are true ranch horses for sure. They knew their job, were responsive, moved off the leg easily, and were strong and sure footed. The scenery was breathtaking. This is our first trip to Colorado and we were unprepared for the beauty! Our job on this trip was to gather scattered small groups of cattle, form one large herd (about 75 head by the time we got them all together), take them to water, then move them to new grazing ground. This all happened within one pasture, but Hon explained the importance of moving them around so the land gets grazed evenly and it made complete sense.
Hon was very good at telling us how to ride / work with each horse and gave clear instructions as to how to move the cattle and what the end goal was. Watching the dog work was almost as much fun as driving the cattle ourselves! We were in the saddle for the full 4 hours and covered a lot of ground. My daughter (13) commented that she really felt part of a team as each person played an important role in getting the job done.
I would do this ride again in a heartbeat! You will not regret it (but be prepared to be a bit stiff when you dismount if you don't ride regularly. LOL)

If you are ever in the area, this should be on your list of things to do! We went on a 2 hours horseback ride with our family of 5. Holly was our guide and she was fantastic! She was knowledgeable, professional, and fun! The views once you get to the top are picturesque, and breathtaking. Holly gave us plenty of time to take pictures and soak up the view. It's so peaceful and quiet atop if the mountain we climbed with the horses. They recommend bringing pants and bug spray for good reason! The bugs eat you up pretty quick. The sun hits a little different up there as well so definitely recommended sunscreen! Definitely recommended this to anyone! We will be back!

This is not your nose-to-tail boring horseback ride. I return every year to Rusty Spurr Ranch for a number of reasons. The owners of Rusty Spurr own all of the rental horses and take great, loving care of their equine. It is a beautiful, open range ride. In June the flowers are on beautiful display. The views and vistas are spectacular and the guides are always a lot of fun and educational. By far the best ranch in the region to ride for an epic experience. I'm looking forward to the 3-hour ride and the cattle drive.

We had an absolutely amazing time on the 2 hour ride with Butch and Sassy. Definitely not your average trail riding business. You get the freedom to ride as you please. No awful robotic nose to tail ride. The horses here are a joy to ride and aren’t afraid to show their unique personalities, something that is rare in a trail riding business. And the owners pair you up perfectly with the right horse for you! When arriving to the facility, we were greeted with a huge smile and welcomed by a couple of their adorable dogs. They helped us mount and off we went! Our ranger was super friendly and gave us our freedom to ride where we please while also keeping safety in mind at all times. Beautiful scenery with even more beautiful horses. This place is definitely a gem in Colorado and I would love to return one day.

We had the most amazing experience horse back riding at the Rusty Spurr Ranch. Bailey our guide was incredible and the scenery was so picturesque it looked fake and felt unreal. Amazing experience at Rusty Spurr Ranch! The drive to the ranch was beautiful and easy with their directions, the employees were all friendly and welcoming, and the horses were incredible with the different experience levels of our group (from novice to experienced). The 2-hour tour is a must- we roamed over peaks and through aspen trees with such gorgeous views. This could not have been a better experience! Everyone was super nice, and the horses were very well kept and very well mannered. Many places ask the questions to ascertain riding level but either don’t have enough horses to match everyone to a suitable horse or just aren’t good at it. The matches here were 100% on target. We had a wide variety of skill level in our group and they delivered the perfect experience for all. Very well done!!! The trail ride was beautiful, scenic, and mellow. The cattle drive was definitely more adventurous and completely worthwhile!

I cannot recommend this place enough!! We had the BEST time! The best part is that the ride is not a “nose to tail” ride, instead they teach you how to steer your horse and encourage you to spread out and find your own path!
We did a 2 hour private ride with a group of 12 and it was amaaaazing! The aspen groves are beautiful and the view from the top is awesome! All of the beauty without the work of hiking to the top.
We also bought the cowboy hats that they sold for $30 in their store, and it brought the photos to the next level!
Our guides were so kind and knowledgeable!! The horses were sweet and so so we’ll trained - those horses live the best life!
If you are going to go horseback riding in Colorado, your research is done - this is the best place you can go. 🤠

Above and beyond all my expectations. The entrance signage to the ranch is a bit hidden, so be highly alert for the entrance from the highway. The gravel road is very well maintained and takes you straight to the ranch. We where running a little behind and the staff called to make sure we weren't lost or needed anything. Everyone of the staff was supper friendly and helpful. The riding was so amazing, as we got to spread out and direct your horse in the direction you choose. Holly was our guide and treated us all so great. Checked on everyone several times to make sure we where all conformable.( I did ask her to adjust the stirrup 1/2 way into it.)
Got to take some amazing pictures and guide even offer to take us a couple. The wild flowers where great saw plenty of Columbines and wild roses. We did get rained on but our guide was productive on getting us all the rain jackets before it started to rain. And the rain just made the experience that much more magical. Did see a lot of mosquitos but did not get any bites.
We will definitely be back!!!

Gondola General is a family-owned general store located at the base of the ski area, just a short walk from the gondola and ticket windows. The store offers a wide range of products including ski accessories like gloves, goggles, helmets, and cold weather gear. In addition to ski-related items, they also carry gifts, picture frames, apparel with Steamboat logos, toys, snacks, drinks, medicinal supplies and other sundry items.
My husband and i were shopping for a new ski coat for him. He was not sure if he needed one.( But I was sure:)). I flagged down Cassie who worked with both of us for as long as we needed to choose a new ski parka that would get him excited. Cassie also helped me track down a potential new ski jacket and got it sent to my home town Christy Sports.. As others have said here: terrible customer service. Avoid this place.
I had a bad experience there a few days ago where I encountered what was for me an unprecedented amount of friction in doing a return. Laziness? Incompetence? Anything to hold onto $20? You decide.
I went to return something my brother bought, and an older gentleman informed me that it was not possible without the credit card used to make the purchase. I didn't have my brother's card on me. He couldn't put it back on the card or give me cash, but he suggested I look around for something else I want and do an exchange. Inconvenient for sure, but I suppose not unheard of.
A younger male employee asked me if it was purchased as a gift, and I told him that I don't know. He then asked in a condescending tone, "So, you bought this and you don't know if you made it a gift purchase?" I reminded him that I didn't buy it.
I left and shortly returned with the credit card number in hand. The older employee again told me me that it was impossible without the actual card because it needed to be swiped. I said that surely there must be a way to just enter in a card number -- what if a card's magstripe is degraded or the card reader is acting up? He finally relented and said that it was indeed possible, but that it sure would be inconvenient for me because I'd have to give him "a whole lot of personal information".
He again tried to get me to just do an exchange instead. I declined.
He made an honest effort for a while but was unable to figure out how to work the point-of-sale, so a female employee helped. The "personal information" I had to give was equivalent to what you'd provide when making an order from any online retailer. Credit card and billing info -- very routine.. When she too was unable to get me to make an exchange and finally got down to business, it only took a few minutes. But not without another jab at the end: "Well, that was the hardest we've had to work to refund $20. An exchange would have been a lot easier, don't you think?" She seriously said that.
I told them to have a nice day as I left, but they didn't return the custom. Hilarious.

So I went to go buy a flask... my card wouldn't swipe, the guy goes, do you have another card or cash?
No I don't.
Well do you wanna run to the ATM??
No I don't, can you not manually type the card numbers in?
I can. But I'm not gonna take the time to do it, we are about to get a rush...
Ended up leaving without the flask. Terrible customer service. There were 2 cashiers, and I'm sure the manager was somewhere in the store.

This place is the bomb! You forgot it at home - they have it here. Prices are pretty typical resort prices - but hey, it's vacation right?! Lady that helped me was cool and friendly.

Great management and the staff are amazing! Best souvenir shop in Steamboat Springs for all the family and friends.

Horrible customer service, we got static 30 seconds after walking in. I'll go anywhere else besides #gondoldageneral for absolutely anything. I'll pay more to go elsewhere.

Still requiring a mask! Don’t waist your money at this place. I was told that I had to have a mask on order to enter.

Totally rude and unhelpful. Check my boy's review he said it best.
The park features a variety of plants and flowers from around the world, as well as a amphitheater for music performances in the summer. It is open to the public from dawn to dusk from May through October and is free of charge.
We spotted this somewhat hidden little gem while we were biking along the Yampa River a few years ago and put it on our to-do list for our next Steamboat visit. Well, today we crossed it off our list! It's such a beautiful and peaceful spot—great for adults AND kids. My friends and I spent a few hours wandering the park, checking out all the trees, plants, and flowers, and meeting the park's extremely friendly black cat.
Entry to the Yampa River Botanic Park is free, but I hope anyone reading this review will be sure to contribute some funds at the end of their visit. Contributions can be made in cash or credit card.

The Yampa River Botanic Park is a hidden gemstone in Steamboat. It's a great way to see wildlife and learn about Colorado's native plants. It takes about 60-90 minutes to see everything in the park and the best part is that it is free to enter. A minimal donation is recommended and there are secure vending machines throughout the park if you would like to pay with cash or card. The donations help with the upkeep of the park and keeping it accessible and beautiful. Highly recommend!

Best deal in town. We hit it a little past peak, but it was still quite impressive. I could see how it could be a quiet place of zen on a Sunday morning. It was larger than I expected, so it was unfortunate that we didn't have the time to spend to see it all. Plenty of parking, but a bit of a walk from there, and no restrooms that we saw. Although there are some located near the ball fields.

Entered this very beautiful botanical park from our walk off of the Yampa River Core Trail. Very whimsical place with wonderful flagstone paths, Peter's pond, whispering brooks, and metal statues. Enjoyed wandering through the different neighborhoods with native colorful flowers, cotton wood /aspen trees, and rock gardens. Benches located throughout park to sit, visit and admire the water lilies or Emerald mountain. They also have an Osprey Eagle nest observation area - during the summer you might see a family of these magnificient birds nesting their young. Will definitely revisit this relaxing park in the future.

We love hiking when we’re in Steamboat, and walking along the Yampa May not be a strenuous activity, but it certainly is relaxing to take in the sights. The Botanical garden is a must see; it’s free and quite breathtaking right off the river path. They have restrooms as well, which makes for a nice family spot to take a break.

What a hidden gem! It's a beautifully curated small botanic park right along the river. You can bike right up to the beautiful gates. Absolutely worth a visit if you are looking for a stroll in Steamboat Springs.

This was our first stop when arriving in Steamboat. It was perfect to stretch and walk after being in the car all morning. It's not as large as the map makes it seem, like you might not have time to walk it, but we did, easily. It was very serene! We enjoyed all the different scents of flowers, trees, and plants. I found a few interesting ones I would like to put in at home. Donations are needed to keep it going. Dogs aren't allowed so maybe bring a cat!
Sharlette Madison — Google review
The scenery was absolutely gorgeous there was plenty of room for people to hangout and chill. The cards were very informative on the plant species and the water features were beautiful. You can definitely tell that people try and work very hard to keep a place so beautiful for the public. I recommend it wholeheartedly to everyone even if nature is not your thing.
Nathan Shanes — Google review
This beautiful preserve is just off the highway, but feels like a place miles away from bustle and noise. Parking is a short distance from the park, but the path to the park is level and well maintained. Inside you’ll find winding paths, gorgeous flowers and trees, fountains, and sculptures. The park is free and maintained in part by volunteers. There is a donation box for those who would like to contribute to park upkeep.

Beautiful community garden - amazing variety of wild flowers and carefully kept gardens. The crevice garden is particularly cool!

I always make sure to stop by Yampa River Botanic park whenever I’m in Steamboat. This place is absolutely magical. The gardeners have done an amazing job curating this space. I would recommend at least 2-3 hours here. It’s a great place for a picnic and admission is free!

Ventured out to this beautiful garden today to watch Beth Blaskovich play piano. We walked around after and the gardens are so well kept. It’s a nice stroll of non stop birds, little animals, beautiful trees and flowers. I definitely recommend checking this place out.

What a gem in the heart of downtown Steamboat Springs!! A lovely, peaceful walk around the gardens. Lots of different paths to choose from and benches to sit and take it all in❤️

I have visited Steamboat springs a number of times, but this was my first time visiting Botanic park. It helped that we visited when Colorado is blooming, whether in gardens or wildflowers. This place is delightful, well laid out. It invites you to visit the nooks and cranies, with a pleasant surprise hidden, more likely in plain view; but you just couldn't see it till you turn the corner. It has areas to spend time with family, benches with flowers and landscaped flower beds galore.

Absolutely Amazing. Beautiful summer day with live music. Apple Pie Order played a morning concert on the green. The Botanicals were fabulous and everyone was very kind and friendly. I uploaded a few photos, but I honestly took over hundred images.

Visiting late in the season, but still beautiful. Very well maintained. Many benches to sit and enjoy the beauty and peacefulness.
Steamboat Ski Resort is located in the Rocky Mountains in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The resort offers a wide variety of ski trails and powder skiing opportunities for all skill levels. In addition to skiing, the resort also features facilities for hiking, biking, kayaking, rafting and fishing.
This was our first time skiing out west and second time skiing overall. We found the ski school incredible beneficial and worth every cent. The staff was over the top helpful and the resort was well kept. The trails were only 25% open when we went (December 2020) due to lack of snow but that didn’t slow us down one bit. They had trails for miles with gorgeous views and fun routes down the mountain. The town of Steamboat was a lot of fun as well, with great dining, shopping, and you can’t miss the Strawberry Hot Springs! It’s a beautiful but long drive from Denver to get here, but we hope to be back someday!

Fantastic ski resort nestled way back in the Rocky Mountains. Always plenty of snow and lots to choose from regardless of whether you are a bunny, slope, beginner or double black, diamond skier, you will find it here. Plenty of air, B&Bs surrounding the resort and places to eat. If it’s lessons you want they have that as well. This was the first ski resort that I have ever been to, and loved it so much that we moved to Colorado and tried all the other resorts, but still came back to the boat.

I was just here at the end of February and beginning of March and it was AWESOME! The snow was actually pretty nice and soft, the runs were nice and long and had an AMAZING view of the mountains, and the chairlift lines were actually not too long. The ski school instructors also all seemed very supportive and kind to their students.
Bentley Amundsen — Google review
If you are an experienced skier, this is the place to go! They have a great variety of intermediate and above runs. Not as big as other places like Copper, but still good.
If you are a beginner, know there is a limited amount of beginner runs and many are traverse style runs that are more narrow, road like than wide open green runs you can spread out on. That was my only disappointment for my kids. The beginner runs at steamboat didn't hold a candle to the wide open, long greens at so many other resorts where the kids can really work their turns across an entire run. The beginner lift area is again a relatively small, narrow set of runs. That said, the instructors are top notch, so even if you do come know the kids will have amazing instructors.
The only other downside I noticed when compared to other resorts is the lift signage. Very hard to tell what lift you are coming up to until you are pretty much in the lift line, unlike others where the name is prominent and large on the lift canopy.

We enjoyed the last "Happy Hour" gondola ride for the season to the top with live music. There is a nice easy hiking trail. Food and drinks available also.
Marcy Cain — Google review
Absolutely great mountain to ski/snowboard. It's one of the best in the country. There's a 3000 foot elevation change from the base of the ski resort to the peak. Try to avoid coming on a holiday weekend, because it was jam packed. There are lots of different places to take a break on the slopes, most of which have food and a bar (but very expensive). If you have the money, it's totally worth it. Also, if you plan to stay more than just a couple of days, getting the ikon pass might be worth your while.
Brian Goulet — Google review
Top ski resort. There are plenty of skiing options for all skill levels. There are hardly any wait lines at the lifts. Very friendly staff all over the mountain. Good ski resort dining options. Very expensive tickets at peak season, close to $300 a person.
Marco Ivancic — Google review
Steamboat is the gold standard for US ski resorts. It has enough altitude and location to get great snow and has a massively developed resort to ensure there are hills for all levels of skiing. This is known as Ski Town USA for a reason. The hill is a short free bus ride from anywhere, there are plenty of hotels to choose from, and the vibe is incredible. If you have an Icon pass the this is a must. My favorite ski hill
Tom Hilbig — Google review
Great Ski Resort!! It felt like a private mountain. Not crowded on January. Family friendly and all the gondolas are almost brand new. Excellent facilities and lunch areas to hang out and eat. Many many routes to choose depending on your level.
Mariana Geraldine Vazquez Leyvas — Google review
Returned to Steamboat for the first time in about 25 years, and it was just as great this time as it was back then. This is an outstanding resort for intermediate / advanced level skiers as well as for skiers who love skiing in the trees. Steamboat is known for its amazing tree skiing, and it doesn't disappoint. This resort does lack in expert terrain, and the expert terrain it does have is kind of a pain to get to. You need to ride two lifts to access all of Steamboat's toughest runs, so keep that in mind if you're looking at this resort and want to primarily ski on expert terrain.

Steamboat provided a wonderful Colorado ski experience. It was busy when we were there but Steamboat excels at efficiently getting people on the gondola or chairlift and up the mountain. Some resorts don’t seem to train staff on this like Steamboat does. All of the workers were so nice and seemed happy to be there. It was also quick and efficient to check in your skis at the end of the day at the base so you don’t have to carry them with you back to your condo.
The overall “vibe” was fun and friendly both on the mountain and at the base. Plenty of areas to sit and warm up on the mountain, or take a seat by one of the outdoor fireplaces at the base.
The skiing was a good fit for everyone in our group from beginner to expert adult skiers.
The resort is situated in the adorable town of Steamboat Springs, which isn’t too large but does have all of the necessities.

Love the view in the 2nd Floor of the Cafe-Bar. The server was nice, but they had the capuchino machine out of service in the opening day.

Had such a wonderful experience here. Snow was great and the facility is fantastic. New gondola is a wow! Met such a great Ambassador named Wolf, super nice and gave us helpful advise on where to go. He even told us where to spot Powder the Mtn Dog! Yes, please! Thank you all!

Beautiful town, great mountain and a special shout out to every single employee we encountered. Very pleasant, helpful and just a delight.
Fantastic restaurants and bars.
The 4 stars (instead of 5) are due to the overcrowded lift lines and the HIGH cost of everything.
Travel tip: (wish we had known)
If you want to experience the Stawberry Hot Springs you need to make a reservation 1-2 MONTHS in advance.
Also I would recommend flying in on a Sat. Get some very cheap (and actually FREE on Sunday) practice runs in at the ski training mountain in Howelsen park
Then ski Steamboat on Mon, Tuesday when it's not so busy.

First-timer here at the boat. Lot's of mountain for all skill levels and some wide open spaces in case it gets crowded, you can still blaze your own path undisturbed. 3 hours from Denver with clear roads and no traffic. Well worth the drive.

This was my first time here at Steamboat. This mountain is a blast we had perfect weather for 3 days in a row. The trees 🎄 did not disappoint, we crushed them! I highly recommend this mountain! 👍 The town is cool 😎 too. Lastly, the airport is about a half hour.

Been coming here for 40 years! This resort is Colorado at its best. Deep powder days are always had and the mountain staff are cheerful and glad to see you back in town!

Absolutely in love with this place, 23 lifts and more than 170 trails. Steamboat is so beautiful. I recommend to stop by the Info Center to get a maps. Do some research of what trails you want to ride before hopping on lifts.
There are two free parking lots (Meadow parking and upper Knoll parking). Knoll parking gets full really early especially during peak season. Meadow parking offers free shuttle from the parking to the ski resort. There are bus red line and blue line are available for people to travel from Meadow parking to the resort.

This ski resort is amazing, with fantastic views, amenities, and restaurants. The resort was within a 10 minute walk of the lodge we stayed at. The resort has plenty of gear rentals, and we did private lessons the first day since my sister and I had never skiied before. Our instructor Ella was so kind and gave us the confidence to work our way up to harder and longer slopes! By the third day we could do a 3 mile slope! There are gondolas and lifts, which is very nice. Your ski pass is also good for non-consecutive days, so if you need a day to rest over your trip you can. There are hot coco stations and fireplaces around the resort to recharge! There's also ice skating!

S/O to ODIN , the Strings lot/ overflow shuttle driver!!! He was purely delightful. First time at Steamboat! I am an IKON pass holder. Figured I’d check it out. Great mix of both groomed and deep powdery snow! Love the gondolas!!! And the fellas who load your gear!!! What an amazing experience. Will definitely try to use my 4 remaining allotted days. So happy I finally came to check it out!!
A hike to Fish Creek Falls in Steamboat Springs, Colorado offers stunning scenery and a variety of trails. The flow is at its most impressive during the spring thaw.
This is a beautiful waterfall with an easy paved trail to the overlook. There is also a short hike that will take you to the base—not paved but still pretty easy—just a bit of a climb on the way back but the path is smooth. Parking is $5 which is reasonable for the beautiful views. It was pretty and we enjoyed our visit! There is a longer hike if you’re prepared that is about 5 miles. It’s a bit icy in October. ☺️❄️

This place is amazing! Always has been a place to go growing up and now going back the fall is still beautiful. Very refreshing to feel the coolness of the water, putting your feet into the water below the bridge is a must. There are sweet little chipmunks around too. Very friendly. Nice hiking trails and bring something to drink too because it's warm.

Absolutely awesome! Our special needs Daughter loved to throw a stone or two in the river over the historic Bridge. Amazing views from both the top and bottom. It's ever so worth the short hike through the mountain view trails.

We took the trail to the uranium mine. It was an excellent choice. The trail is Rocky and steep in places, especially in the beginning, but levels out significantly about 2/5 the way in. There's a good view of the falls at that point too. The vegetation changes past half, and was a delight in early September with the start of autumn. The mine entrance itself is gated off and nothing special. It took us about 90 minutes round trip, stopping for pictures and a sit down snack by the mine. The view from the mine was very good as well.

we spent a nice morning hiking around the Fish Creek trail. The trail to the lower falls is very accessible for most people! It is flat and paved. If you’d like, you can take a short walk downhill to a nice bridge that will give you a nice view from down below the falls. It is a $5 entrance fee to get to this hike.

Fish Creek Falls, Steamboat CO. 06/28 Best time to visit is early in the morning. You get the place to yourself, it's amazing, easy little hike with a big payout. Kid and family friendly.

Such a beautiful place! Even this early in the year. The trees are all still in winter mode, and there was snow in patches here and there... The lower path was closed due to the amount of snow (didn't stop several people from going there). The falls were gorgeous and full! Lots of melt going on right now! Beautiful little Glacier Lillies and a few petite gnomes someone seeded in some nooks! Great, gentle walk, too!
Abbey Hadachek — Google review
This place is beautiful. We went there because Hubby is in a scooter and we wanted an accessible trail. It turned out that it was perfect for the scooter. If you are in a wheelchair and pushing someone, the trail to the picnic area I think is too hard to try and push uphill. The path to the falls would be fine. Don't miss this spot, it is absolutely worth driving too.
Audrey Bronson — Google review
Very peaceful place. Nice drive up. Trails are easy for fit people. If you're fat, like me, just take your time. Carefully walk up inclines backward for an easier climb. You'll enjoy it.
Shaina — Google review
Why wouldn't you visit a 200 foot waterfall? There are some very nice trails for those who would like to see the falls without significant effort or for some reason, can't get to the base. If you want a more moderate hike, go to the base of the lower falls. For a three hour strenuous hike, you can go about 2 miles to the upper falls. It spectacular but arduous. Bring plenty of water and snacks!
John Cordell — Google review
Absolutely beautiful place! The trailer edge is a bit more steep than I feel comfortable letting my kids walk near but aside from that it was clean, not packed, and peaceful to visit
Cassandra Douglas — Google review
What a memorable and beautiful snow hike. Perfect for anyone who isn’t very fit but they want to get an easy hiking experience.
Sarah Gunter — Google review
There was a small entry fee at the gate ($5?), which provided access to both upper and lower falls parking. Toilet houses both at trail head, and out on the trail at one point. There are a combination of paved cement, blacktop, and dirt trails for a variety of experience levels. The falls however if the most phenomenal part and can be viewed in under 0.5 miles of gentle walking (upper falls) on paved trails. The trip to the lower falls has some steeper inclines, dirt and rock laden paths, which would not be handicap accessible, but if you can handle it, the views are incomparable. From the lower falls you can access even more challenging routes if you opt to pursue.
Jeanette Weiser — Google review
A gorgeous stop whenever I visit Da Boat. A nice paved path to the viewing point, easy walk. The trail down to the bridge is gravel and a moderate level. I think those with difficulty walking can do it and take it slow. But spectacular views from the view point, you are just up close and personable by the bridge (bummer it was closed for us!) Great scenery all around and especially lucky with all the green trees! Beautiful pictures to be had anywhere in the park!

A beautiful trail that is a top outing in Steamboat. Easy, short walk to bottom.of falls. accessible to almost anyone. but continue past the falls and trail is steady 8 to 12 % grade and footing not great. lots of rocks and roots. pretty shady most of the 2 miles to the top of falls. another 2 miles to lake.

Beautiful and easy hike (there is wheelchair path, but I personally didn't look for it). Gorgeous falls, and you can actually get to the water just below falls if you want to. I would definitely return.
