Whenever I have friends visiting from out of state that would like to visit a local vineyard, I take them to Reustle (pronounced rustle, like rustle the leaves) Prayer rock Vineyard. It is always a first class experience and they come home with lots of wine to share. One of the benefits of being a good host. The wine tastings are a delight, the pairings with snacks are always fun. I've been to almost all of Douglas Counties wineries and Prayer Rock is at the top of the list.

Went here with a few friends and had a great time. This was my first visit to a winery. They had a live band, and the grounds were amazing. I am not a wine drinker myself(I had a beer), but my friends loved the wine. I observed a wine tasting and learned about the wine. Had a great time.

Beautiful tasting room. Kevin provided great information during our wine tasting in the wine cave. Very informative and knowledgeable about wine. Our favorite was the Tempranillo.
Jack gave us a tour of their production facility and was also very knowledgeable about wine making.
Wish we could have enjoyed their outdoor seating but it was raining.

We joined the conseires club in november and just picked up our second month of 6 bottles. They brought us around back into the cave in a members only area. It was all decked out in christmas decore. The gal helping us was super nice and introduced us to the owners wife. She was very delightful and welcomed us to the wine club family. We ordered a cheese and meat plate, which is amazing, and enjoyed a bottle of our wine in a private pod on the front patio. Very romantic and always a pleasure to be there.

Company did a presentation for my local Wine Group, promoting great customer service, Christian beliefs and doing the right thing
Let me say my experience is far from that , they made a mistake on shipping and say they will make it right. Do not believe them
Still waiting for replacement of wine ( which they said to me over the phone they would do ) many many weeks later still nothing
Actions speak louder than words
My wine group will never invite them back

The entire staff goes above and beyond to make sure your visit is one filled with wonderful memories. When we have guests it's one of the places that we love to share.

Amazing venue. Range of wine. Great service. Highly affordable bites to eat. Yes. really. The wine cave is absolutely gorgeous (rec to owner-play some Spotify guitar music lightly on the background)
Wines range from pretty good to amazing. Tasting comes with accompanying bites and tasting fee dropped with purchase (fee $15 pp, spend $50 pp to waive fee)
Such a terrific venue…..go!

This was an amazing experience. The wines are fabulous and of the 10 we tasted were consistently 4/5 to 5/5. The tasting room, building and grounds are amazing. The staff was incredibly warm and good educators without any pretense. The wine club is incredibly well thought out with a better system than others. I highly recommend a stop and don't doubt you'll be back.

Don't know why more folks don't go out to enjoy fall colors in the Vineyards.
Nice, quiet wine tasting today - thanks, Jolene!

Escaped the kids for a few hours tasting some beautiful wines here. My wife and I shared two separate wine flights on the recommendation of the server. This gave us access to taste 8 fantastic wines. We also had some small cheese bite pairings to enjoy with the wine. We enjoyed ourselves and really appreciated the time they took to educate a couple of wine rookies.

Underwhelming experience. The staff was very impersonal and did the absolute bare minimum in welcoming you. Such a cool spot with potential but the people are what bring you back and this place, I would highly suggest going elsewhere.
Abacela Winery is named after an old Spanish word meaning "to plant grapevines." The winery, run by a husband-wife team, offers a wide variety of beautifully complex and structured wines. Visitors can enjoy the full-flavored light wines and also have the option to pair them with food. The staff, like wine expert Hailey, are known for being friendly and informative, making for a wonderful overall experience at Abacela Winery.
Fantastic tasting experience. Delicious flight of wines paired with excellent cheese board arrangement. Knowledge and kind staff, and a beautiful building and indoor seating area surrounded by great scenery.

Great views from the elegant tasting room of the hillside vineyards. Top notch wide selection of fine wine, my favorite being the Syrah Reserve.

When I first pulled in, I wasn't expecting much. I was very pleasantly surprised, the wine, food and service, All exceptional. I'm somewhat local to this Winery and will definitely be back.

My boyfriend and I just moved to the area and have been dying to try some places that we’ve never been to. Let me tell you, the wines were amazing. My boyfriend has been to several wine tastings but this was my first and I had an incredible time. The wines we tasted were beautifully complex and structured.. and even the light wines were so full of flavor.
Unfortunately we did not try any food but we will next time.
And thank you so much to our wine expert Hailey who took care of us. She was so friendly and informative. Made for a wonderful experience.

My wife and I did the Vineyard tour with Greg Jones the CEO and had the best time. We learned so much and got treated to beautiful sites and delicious wines. It was incredibly special and can’t thank the Abacela team enough for making it one of the highlights of our vacation to southern Oregon.

A beautiful setting. Good choice for enjoying wine tasting in a relaxing atmosphere. Nice Indoor tasting room and a gorgeous outdoor seating area with awesome views. Enjoy a delicious charcuterie platter with excellent wine and friendly staff.

Stunning venue. Focus on exceptional Spanish wines. Very good service. Tasting fee varies: $15-25 based on reserve level. Pours are good. I recommend getting both levels to compare standard with reserve level (sometimes we preferred standard!)
Fees waived with each $50 purchase.

Picturesque winery near Roseburg. We had 2 different flights. We also ordered cheese & charcuterie board - which was excellent. All wines we tried were good - Syrah being my favorite. It was interesting that the winery offers several Spanish varietals, which were nice change from usual Oregon Pinot Noirs. Also enjoyed very calm and laid-back atmosphere. Definitely put it on your list of wineries to visit in Umpqua Valley region.
Peter Kho — Google review
Discover this place for Valentine's Day, had a wonderful dinner and met great people. Arguably one of the best port wines anyway. Ask for Joe or Sam and make sure you get a flight then end it with a port. We got ourselves a 2007 and a 2012. A wonderful wonderful place.
Mark Covington — Google review
Wonderful winery, with a very nice tasting room and outside patio. Some really exceptional Spanish and Italian varietals you won't find in the Willamette Valley wineries. All of their wines are good, and a few are exceptional including the Reserve Tempranillo, and the Paramour blend. On the most recent visit we discovered they hold club pick-up event in Portland, so may consider joining.

Very fast unloading
They start unloading trucks at 9:00 am
Entrance is little tight
Hardeep Walia — Google review
Lovely view, quiet area and nice facility. Service is OK. The wines seem good to me but expensive (to me but then I'm more of a low end wine person). One of the best ports I've ever had. Dogs on the patio are allowed.

3 of us booked a full day rafting trip with Morrisons Rogue Wilderness. They offered the options to use the inflatable kayaks (duckies) or riding a raft with others. We had a great time. Our guide, Mika (I hope that’s how he writes his name-sorry 🤭) and all the other guides are super fun guys to be on a trip with. They will walk or raft :) that extra mile for you and your family, friends so you have an outstanding experience on the river. They know the river very well and you feel totally comfortable and safe with them -even with younger kids. Especially if you are a first timer we highly recommend them so you have a great experience with professionals! We had so much fun! Thank you for it!

We had an outstanding trip on our four day hiking and rafting adventure. Knowledgeable guides, great and rustic lodges as well as good food and good friends made for a very memorable time. Be aware of some poison oak on the hiking trails.

We are 100% doing this trip again soon… Guides were all (5) amazing, lodges were warm and inviting and the food was fantastic. Tip of the hat to Morrison Lodge staff and Chef Matt, this young man is an excellent chef. You’ll understand why I’ve called him out after your first experience. Our river guide Andrew Serda… Best I’ve had on any of the many (Oregon, Alaska, Calif.) river trips I’ve had over the past 40 years. Never felt more safe and on the fish, like we did w/ Andrew.
See you again in 2024 !

Our family, including kids aged 9 and 11, did a 2 night rafting trip that was absolutely phenomenal on all levels. The scenery was gorgeous, camping under the stars was peaceful, and the guides were not only super entertaining but also very proficient and safe. To top it off, the food was very healthy and delicious, and the guides are extremely conscientious about protecting the environment- the very reason we are there!

What an amazing adventure! We were guided by Martin, Dustin O, Justin, and Kevin, and they were all amazing guides. The entire trip was so well planned & SO MUCH FUN! The food was fantastic and the camps were fabulous. Our family was on Dustin’s raft and he provided a wealth of information on the Rogue River, and the Rogue Valley. They were all phenomenal guides and made sure there was laughter the entire trip! We can’t wait for our next adventure with Morrison!

This was my first whitewater rafting experience! I tagged along with some friends on a 3 day, 2 night rafting trip and was not disappointed. The food was fantastic, and they took care of everything for us. This is the way to relax! Our guide was Greg, and he was very experienced, friendly, and helpful. Going through Blossom Bar was probably the most intense part for me, but Greg navigated us through it with ease. All the other guides were amazing as well: Rip, Mackenzie, Marcus (who did an amazing job on the meat!), Christian, and Nick. I highly recommend booking a trip and hope to return in the not so distant future! Thank you Morrison's for a fantastic adventure and experience!

We recently did a half day trip on the Rogue. The outfit served a nice lunch before departure at their scenic lodge. The guides were very seasoned and knowledgeable about every nook in the river. This was one of the more mellow rafting trips I took, but was a great intro for my daughter. We had a very relaxing afternoon in a very beautiful stretch of the river.

I highly praise the 6 man crew for their professional manner, endless patience and dedication to safety of our group of 21 during the 4 day river trip. The meals offered were delicious, with an abundance of choices. The last night we stayed at Paradise Bar lodge. Their staff and accommodations were excellent. The food was great. A beautiful location with resident wildlife. Our crew leader was Martin who I give a 5 plus star rating. The experience was exceptional, one I will remember forever. I highly recommend this company if a river trip is on your bucket list.

I was so very nervous/hesitant to go on this trip but I'm so glad I did. Our guide, Greg, was fabulous. I was at-ease for most of the trip and he talked us through how to handle each area. He was a pro! I highly recommend anyone getting out of their comfort zone and booking this trip with a stayover at Paradise Lodge. The food was incredible. The views were incredible. The experience was incredible.

Our rafting trip with Morrisons Rogue Wilderness Adventures was nothing short of extraordinary! From the start, the team at Morrisons left no stone unturned to ensure that our adventure was impeccably planned and executed. Whether you're an experienced rafter or a first-timer, they cater to every need.
Our guide Ryan was the perfect blend of knowledgeable, attentive, humorous, and cautious. He lead 2 other rafts at the same time. His love for and knowledge of the Rogue River made the trip all the more fun.
The rapids were perfectly suited for beginners, and the option to solo kayak added an exciting touch of challenge for those seeking it. I definitely made use of it and highly recommend it. Our children, aged 6 and 9, had the time of their lives! Watching their faces light up with joy and excitement was truly priceless.
We saw Ospreys soaring above us and turtles on the shores. We jumped into the river for swim breaks multiple times. The provided lunch was not only delicious, but also thoughtfully prepared, adding to our memorable day. The chocolate chip cookies were.. yeah amazing.
The full day of rafting was filled with moments of thrill, laughter, fun, and filled with awesome surrounding natural beauty.
Our experience with Morrisons Rogue Wilderness Adventures was outstanding and one we will cherish forever. If you are looking for a perfect blend of adventure, relaxation, and natural beauty, look no further than a rafting trip down the scenic Rogue River with this excellent crew. It's an adventure you'll remember for a lifetime.

We had a great time on the 3 day camp trip. The crew was fantastic, they really took care of us. Dustin and crew are very knowledgeable of the river and history. definitely a bucket list trip that did not disappoint.

My husband and I just finished a raft supported hiking trip of the wild and scenic part of the Rogue river. It exceeded my expectations. The attention to detail and the care and comfort of the guests was perfect. I was worried about hiking such a long stretch and the ability to get in the rafts and hit the water multiple times a day made it so much more enjoyable for me. Our trip leader Sorin and her guides Marcus and Maynard were so welcoming and friendly we felt like family. I highly recommend this company - their care and customer service we’re second to none.

This was my first time river rafting. It was soo much fun! The lunch to start us off was awesome! Great quality food and it felt like home. Our guide Rip was awesome! He made us feel safe and he was soo much fun! He talked and interacted with us and made the trip extra fun! Having the inflatable kayak available to us made it even more fun! I loved it soo much! This experience made me want to book another one with bigger rapids! There was one downfall to the trip. There was a lead guide, named Don or something like that. He was soo rude! Our group fell behind and once we caught up to him he reprimanded our guide in front of everyone! Asking him if he knew how to row and everything ! Saying our guide made it unsafe for everyone. Which is totally not true. This lead guide made his raft and ours feel soo uncomfortable. That was soo unprofessional. He kept making comments to our guide and under his breath that were just so uncalled for and not professional. I would love to book another raft with you all but am hesitant because if that guide is there I won’t book it. I still gave a 5 star because everything except for that lead guide, was amazing ! Thank you!

Our guides, Brent and Soren, made for a wonderful trip. Kind and courteous, they both tended to all our needs despite none of us being sandwich people. Soren allowed us all to row to our hearts content. Highly recommend Morrison’s!

I didn't take many pictures but this place is a gem in grants pass. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about the animals. They have a pond with lots of different ducks and you can buy food to give them. Great place to bring kids or if you are an animal lover.

These folks were AMAZING. The animals had safe and natural habitats. They seemed to be comfortable and some even happy to be on display. The crow had a little rehersed hence she would do and even said "hello." She made a big racket when you tried to walk away. The otters were FANTASTIC!

Was absolutely amazing I take my daughter there at least once a month:) I love what they do there and I love seeing the animals, my daughter is three so she doesn't have the attention span for the lessons or anything yet but I try and learn what I can when I can, about 16$ for an adult and 4 and under are free, or you can buy a membership for a year (which I'll do if I ever an extra 90$ in one go) ...

Went Monday for my daughter birthday her favorite animal is otters 🦦 and I was so excited they had artistic otters that you can book so we did. Was really cool to get to see them work with trainers and see them up close. Luke and Mitch were so cute. I definitely recommend booking this. After we were done with that we walked around and checked out the other animals. Fun family activity.

This is such an amazing and beautiful place. Everything about it is, including their mission purpose.
Please give yourself at least several hours to enjoy walking about, seeing the animals, and learning. You will be glad you did and probably want more time, or to return soon.
They are community supported too so please be sure to show them how much you love the place and things being done. They always need volunteers, as well as donations to keep doing such important and invaluable work.

We love to bring our daughter here! They are so kind and helpful and the animals are amazing.

Great facility! Great cause! Petting zoo… good variety of birds mammals and reptiles they’re caring for. Highly recommend purchasing the guided tour - better for bigger kids and adults. Not rushed and very informative. Volunteers and contributions are crucial to meeting the facility’s goals.
Stephen Paul — Google review
Edit: I used to enjoy this place, especially when they were changing for the better with acquisition of otters, discovery farm, and new experiences for everyone. There were positive changes, and people would visit after YEARS of not being there to say it was completely different and exciting. Now, however, the board of directors (mainly the new President) alienated the staff, managers, and volunteers who were positively impacting the establishment and they all left. As a volunteer who created their museum of conservation, I no longer feel like this is a safe and exciting learning environment for the public.
Nathan Scheffler — Google review
The habitats for the animals were very natural and open. Staff was so caring and friendly, willing to answer all my questions about the animals I had, and I got to see a very kind staff member explain Nubs' eye medicine as she did it. I really love seeing the animal's names and stories alongside the facts about them as well even though so many of the stories are heartbreaking to read. Thank you for the experience and I look forward to coming again!

Awesome place to see wild animals. You can spend about an hour to see all the animals. Our kids love it!! The staff was extremely nice. It's definitely worth it.

Everyone needs to stop supporting this business. ..its no longer going to be a rehabilitation center... all new people took over and the main guy thinks that animals don't feel pain. He has been giving orders to euthanize anything brought in with its eyes still closed and thinks its humane to euthanize by putting baby squirrels in the freezer to freeze to death instead of doing it the correct t way. . I HAVE FRIENDS THAT QUIT AFTER 14 YEARS FUE TO THIS NEW IN HUMANE PRACTICE. AND NOBODY SHOULD CONTINUE TO SUPPORT THIS PLACE
Ronni Yates — Google review
The fact that there have been multiple mass staff walkouts really speaks for itself. The most recent being around 30 staff members (almost all of the employees), along with many wonderful long term volunteers. For these people, chosing to leave the animals they care about was incredibly difficult, but when the exectutives are making decisions that negatively impact both the welfare of these animals and the employees, they were ultimately left with no choice.
Consider reaching out to Badger Run instead if you find a sick, injured, or orphaned animal.
Abbie Lyon — Google review
Been there a bunch of times but this was probably the best time when we went last week. They brought out quite a few different animals that we hadn't been able to see up close before. It is definitely worth the trip.
Kevin Gambucci — Google review
Best place to educate kids and see all up close. Well taken care of and lived. Will be back!
Rosemary M — Google review
They are more about profits than helping rehabilitate animals, some animals and more than 30+ staff have suffered with new management. And current owners believe animals don't feel pain. Which is referenced when an underweight squirrel was put into a freezer to be euthanized. The reference was brought up over a discussion over this situation going public on social media, current owners daughter admitted this about animals not feeling pain and it was learned by her father. She did remove her comment about admitting it, staff/owners were blocking the public from asking questions about a lot of the situations going on over there with new management. More than questionable when volunteers and staff that have been there for so many years are fired or walk off due to the environment and treatment of animals.

We had a blast! The info sessions and meet and greets every 1/2 hour were very informative. They host events for Mother’s Day and other times throughout the year that look so much fun! Local facility treating local animals and helping keep the wild in the wild.
What an incredible experience! We chose the Thrill Seeker to get a good mixture of both the kayak and raft, and both really gave completely different experiences so I'm glad we opted for the full day to fit in both. All the tour guides were amazing, but Disney really made our trip exceptional and so much fun. This was our first time kayaking and rafting on the river and she really helped get us confident and comfortable on the water from the start. She went over verbally what to expect with each set of rapids and how we were going to handle them to help us mentally prepare. She truly knows how to guide and work with a group of completely random people to help make them a team. She also, without hesitation, helped rescue a lone kayaker's kayak from the class 4 rapids and then offered to help get him back to the boat ramp since he had just lost his paddle and belongings. She just went the extra mile with every aspect of today's trip and we can't say enough about how wonderful it was! I will say, another group really struggled because they were NOT listening to their guide and completely talked over her the whole time, so please listen! They know what they're doing if you give them a chance to help you. Thank you Orange Torpedo for the absolutely fantastic day! We will DEFINITELY be coming back for more!

I did the Thrill Seekers experience with two of my girlfriends and it was an absolute blast! We spent the morning kayaking through rapids and the afternoon rafting the Rogue River. Our outfitter, Wes, was truly amazing! He was a great guide and lead us through the day in confidence. It was a perfect day to celebrate my best friend’s 31st birthday. Can’t wait to go back and do it again! Thank you Oregon Torpedo for hosting a great day!

Great trip with Orange Torpedo. We did the half day Salmon River, which was a perfect escape from a hot summer day. Excellent guide - Jackie. There were a number of rafting companies on the river and we noticed Orange Torpedo didn't load up their boats with as many passengers as the other companies. I don't know if this is normal, but it made it more fun to not be crowded in. The only con, their ground transportation is a bit shaky (aka old vehicles), but didn't present a problem.
Carla Berryann — Google review
Excellent adventure. This is a full day of intense rapids and whitewater. A total blast. But be warned, you need whitewater kayaking and rafting experience before going on this trip!! this is not a relaxing flat water experience...it is 6-7 hours of rapids one after the other...
gorgeous clean clear river, very cold water....be sure to wear a wet suit or splash gear. Our guides were total professionals. Well-spoken, great personalities, funny, informative.
Derek was some incredible eye-candy. I had to pick my jaw off the ground a few times.
lots of flipping over and falling out of the kayaks...so be prepared....
this outfitter was one of my favorites...I wished in retrospect I would have hired them for other river trips instead of Row and Ouzel and Western....
the only suggestion was that lunch needs to be taken up a few notches....deli meat sandwiches should be elevated to something nicer...not quite enough food for all of us....the guides did not have enough to eat after we all ate. More protein is needed for everyone
going to do this trip again!

What a wonderful experience! We did a 4 day trip on the Rogue River with OTT. They were fun, safe, informative and accommodating. OTT's guides can explain the history and geology of the river and pointed out many plants, birds and wildlife found on the river. We had GF and vegetarian folks in our group and they made every effort to make sure we were taken care of and well fed. The lodges' we stayed in were rustic and homey.

Had a great afternoon with our guide Kruse! If you're unsure if this is family appropriate, we went with an 8yr and 10yr old and felt VERY safe. This half day Rogue River trip we took was action right from the start with many 2 and 3s before the ending two 4 rapids. Won't be bored by any means!

Popping my white waters for the very first time doing a 1 day trip on the North Umpqua River with an amazing group of guides for my birthday weekend. We had a group of 7 and split up into 2 rafts.
Dietz the Team Lead was simple and informative when it came to SAFETY FIRST! Teaching us what to do and not to do before hopping onto the river. One of our friend sprained their ankle and was in his raft and every now and then would jokingly pray before we hit a few gnarly rapids. Of course he one handedly guided them like a pro and our trooper friend survived without a scratch.
Derek our guide was super friendly and totally not an introvert with his humorous jokes and informative "falling rock" and "leaver rocks". Take is easy on the birds though, okay 🤣
Lunch was provided and prepped by the team at the lunch spot midway into the trip.
Absolute favorite part was riding the bull embracing the Amazon Queen!! Least favorite part was ending the day...whomp whomp whomp.
Overall, the experience was 5 🌟 because all the guides including Becca and Lauren were buttkickin awesome and knowledgeable from start to finish!! 10/10 would have to do this again, thank you all so much!
P.S. Let's go Leos! Hope you too have an awesome birthday Derek!!!

Absolutely fantastic trip with Orange Torpedo Tours! My family and I did the Rogue River Wild and Scenic 4 Day Lodge Trip. The entire staff was great- thank you to Mike, Ben, Kalen, Tim, Nick, and Ryan. The guides are super knowledgeable and were excellent at maintaining safety at all times. We switched off between the group paddle rafts and kayaks on the trip. It was fun to try both! Overall, the trip was well organized and thought-out. We didn't want it to end!! Will be recommending this trip to others and will hopefully come back next summer 🙏🏼

Oregon Caves National Monument & Preserve is a fascinating destination for those interested in geology and outdoor exploration. The caves are composed of intricate marble formations, which create huge underground caverns that can be explored through guided tours. The tour lasts about an hour and a half, during which visitors can witness unique calcite formations and learn from knowledgeable guides. It's important to bring warm clothing during the tour as the temperature inside the cave is around 44 degrees Fahrenheit.
Loved It! Climbing down into the caves was awesome! Like only seen in the movies. Even if the park is closed and the main cave is closed, there are still other open caves to explore and a beyond piece full beautiful hike. Please bring a change of cloths and shoes if going in the caves as a rare fungus from in the caves can harm the natural habitat. Aside from that, have a great time!

My son's and I loved our tour through the caves. Don't forget to make a reservation. Our guide was very knowledgeable and fun. The caverns are glorious and such a site to see. It's a wonderful educational experience for most all ages. Make sure to read all the info and know before you go. And if you have the energy, hike to the top of the mountain after the cave tour to get an amazing view!

It was a nice cave to visit and very easy. The roads are being repaired. You need to arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled ticket time. Drop off your party way past the parking lot at the visitors center. Google may route to the gate entrance, it's 6 miles past this to the parking lot
It's pitifully small compared to caves back east. Mostly a local attraction.
They have a nice trail continuing in a loop up the mountain with some small canes after you are done with the tour.

Great place to visit and go hiking. There is lots to see, plenty of wildlife if you are quiet and fantastic views.

The tour was informative. The rock formations in the caves were awesome. I would like to take the candle cave tour sometime. I would also like to stay at the Chateau after they reopen it and hike some of the trails around the caves. After you finish the tour, take the longer trail back to the Visitor Center. The views are spectacular.

I was on a retro tour of my youth and revisited the site after a couple decades. I was pleased to see the place was largely the same as when I was a kid. The lodge where my family and I stayed was closed, but the pool in the back that used to house a breakfast cafe was still accessable, though the ghosts of breakfasts past were all that remained of my memory of the place. Tour was informative, path was user friendly for the most part and even in clostrophbic conditions I still felt fairly uncaged. Wouldn't recommend sandals tho... definitely bring a hoodie

It was an amazing tour. Inside the cave it was about 44 degrees, so be sure to bring a jacket. The tour was about 1 hour and 30 mins and it was truly worth it. The guide we have was very knowledgeable about the caves and went into detail about the formations. There are some low areas (45 inches at the lowest) and some pretty steep stairs. It is very amazing though, I would definitely recommend it.

So if you have experience with other caves, you might not be impressed but otherwise this was a good experience. Heck the road up was half the fun. The cave is illuminated and the 1 mile trip is pretty well laid out and even the 523 stairs weren't too bad though some can be slippery. At 90 minutes, I still would have liked it to be a bit longer to get more pictures. Our guide, Tyler did a fine job telling us the story and history of the cave.

I loved the Oregon caves! It was a magical experience!
I visited on a Saturday in July. My companion and I hadn’t reserved a tour. We ended up calling the Illinois Valley Visitor Center - they gave us a heads up about available tours and timings. So, we drove to the Illinois Valley Visitor center (which is on the way to the main Oregon Caves visitor center from where the tours start) to make reservations for the discovery tour. You can purchase the tour tickets here and then proceed to the caves.
Since self-guided tours are not permitted(and for good reason), do plan for and get reservations in advance if you can!
The route from the Illinois Valley visitor center to the caves is only 15-20 miles - but takes an hour due to the uphill winding road.
The caves themselves were awesome!! The stalagmites, stalactites, columns, draperies, bacon ribbons, etc. were so beautiful! The tour itself was super informative too! A shout out to the rangers here - they were awesome and shared very interesting geological information throughout the tour. My favorite parts of the tour were the ghost room, lost paradise and the part where the ranger turned off the lights to give a feel of how dark it truly is down there!! 😅
While we didn’t have time to explore other trails in here, the whole Siskiyou forest around looked gorgeous!!

A very interesting hike with a decent amount of history behind the caves. My tour guide was very knowledgeable and considerate while leading the group through the caves.
I will admit I was a little disappointed by how constructed (flat platforms, grated walkways, and spotlight lighting throughout) the cave was; having explored other less frequented caves before I enjoy the natural/rugged atmosphere of caves but I understand the reason for the construction to make it more accessible as a national park, just not as much my cup of tea.
Regardless a really unique and interesting experience, at ~$20 per person, that is very easily accessible by anyone regardless of age. (Light stooping required for taller individuals, and ~500 stairs total over the whole 1 mile tour.) Plenty of flushing bathrooms at both the lower parking lot (1M 1F) and at the visitor center (1M 1F).

This was an incredible experience! Well worth the drive up to the cave site. It was unique, fascinating, and a little bit spooky (but there are lights throughout the whole system, so if you don't want it to be dark the guide can adjust). Our guide was so friendly and told cool facts and stories about the caves, let us stop and appreciate the weird and wonderful finds along the way, and let us see things with various lighting. The distance wasn't an issue, as we stopped many times along the route. There's even a side exit if needed. We also left the cave and headed up to the view point on the way back to the visitors center and it was such a gorgeous view.

It’s a long windy road to get here. I’m in a 22’ skoolie and it was a bit white knuckle, but worth it. The campground south of here is amazing (NP not hookups but quiet and beautiful), but know there is not shade (that lasts for more than an hour) in this parking lot for furry friends, and it gets HOT. Tour is around 2 hours, I’ve done a lot of cave tours, and loved it. Be sure to get tickets because they do sells out quickly (in the summer).

Had a kinda unnecessarily long but very cool tour through the caves on the discovery tour. It took longer because there were people in our group who were purposefully move as slow as possible through the cave. Really neat formations throughout.

1/2 hour from highway— the tour took over an hour inside a chilly cave— only 13 people per tour, no clothing from other Cave can be worn due to spreadable diseases
The Visitor Center explains conditions inside the Cave…. Must be able to crouch down and Waddle Walk short distances
In wet slippery conditions
Over 500 steep steps up and down
Inside the cave. Not recommended for young children or anyone with claustrophobia — bring a jacket!

What an interesting adventure to the Oregon caves. I would recommend the cave tour which was $10 for an adult and $6 for a child. You'll learn a lot. If you get a small group consider yourself lucky! It's 44 degrees inside the cave. Pants are beneficial but you can buy them in the gift store near the museum if you forget yours. Kids sweat pants are $30! I went with shorts and a hoody.... I survived! The drive up the mountain goes all the way to the end of the road so you can't get lost. Just go straight. You can buy a tour ticket right in the office/ museum but you might have to wait a bit incase the tours are already full. Small hikes are available, there's a swinging bench near a little pond it's a nice spot to snack and relax. There's a small interactive museum for kids, coloring station. You can get your junior ranger badge if you pass the test as well. Have a great adventure and watch your head! 500 steps and a 16% vertical grade incline at the end so hiking boots are beneficial if you want to be more prepared.
Great and fun experience. Will definitely do this again!
Wonderful guides (Bree and Dalton (in attached photo)). Love it how they were joking around to create a relaxed and fun atmosphere. They were quite informative as well.
We wish we could go through the parcours twice...first a practice thing and then for real 🙃

Jonah and Bri were fabulous guides! This was our 2nd time going in 6 years but first time bringing the kids. The safety steps, humor, and friendliness really makes this experience a wonderful one for kids and adults! The combination of exercise and adventure were really great, the sunset tour was the perfect blend of daylight and cooler summer temperatures.

We were hosted by Kelton, Dalton, and Jonah. We lucked out -- others that signed up for the day bailed due to threat of snow, but it wound up being sunny, so we had the place to ourselves! Two hours of fun -- the ziplines (there are 5 in total) are among the 3 longest we've been on. Admittedly, you spend little time ziplining, and more time being fully entertained by this (safe) comedy troupe, who had us laughing (sometimes chortling) and enjoying our time together. BE PREPARED TO HIKE SOME HILLS, but it's worth it. The last zipline is over 1/3 of a mile long, so look forward to that! This experience is also ADA compatible which I thought was impressive. Great views. Listen to the guides when they point out the POISON OAK! 😀

Such a fun experience with great views of the mountains and greenery. This is a family friendly event and takes about 3 hours total! Expect a little bit of hiking along the way. The tour guides were very entertaining and explained things well, very friendly people who take safety seriously. Highly recommend!!

I can not over emphasize how much we loved our time with Rogue Valley ZipLine. We went for a company trip and from start to finish we all were laughing and having fun together. We had several people going up that were very nervous about the height we didn't get much past putting out harnesses on before our guides had everyone at ease. Whatever the occasion (or no occasion at all) if you are reading this you should stop reading, go to there page and book your trip now!

We visited on a Thursday afternoon and had a reservation that we made four days earlier. We arrived at golf course and then rode in the van to the Zipline park. The van ride was an adventure, rough road, fast, and bouncy. We recommend sitting towards the front, we were in the fourth row and you could feel it.
The guides, Dalton and John, were knowledgeable and took their time to get us fitted in our harness and were happy to help each person make their adjustments. We watched the video ahead and took the advice that tighter was not better and found that the key to not having a wedgy on landing like some of the others. It's the thigh harness that you want to make sure is comfortable, take the guides advice and leave a little extra room.
We added the GoPro camera when we got there and have a video of our adventure on the ziplines.
The five ziplines grow longer as you move forward. The "bunny" line gets you comfortable with the process and by the time you are done you are ready to pushoff to increase your speed and lean back into the zip blind. We really enjoyed the zipping.
While you may only walk a 1/4 mile on the whole trip, it's all uphill dusty trail. Your shoes will be dirty and your legs may burn. The guides were helpful to have water at the top, but the first climb is a doozie.
We bought tshirts at the end and enjoyed our time.
Our guides took pictures of us at the foot of the zip, we recommend taking a camera, make sure you can secure it and nothing in the back pockets.

Not inexpensive but 5 zip lines all increasing in length plus the awesome staff made it worth it. Gear was in great condition and the girls we had went above and beyond to make everyone feel safe and entertained. Bring your dad jokes.

We came here during our anniversary & birthday getaway! This experience was soooooo AMAZING. We definitely will have to do this again, maybe next time we’ll do the whole zip, raft & winery experience.
The guides were FABULOUS. The course was BEAUTIFUL. The experience overall was EVERYTHING I wanted. Highly recommend! This is a hidden gem in Southern Oregon.

HIGHly recommend all the adventures this company is hosting!! We did the ZIP dip sip for my 40th and it was spot on amazing. Enjoying the beauty of nature with a little adrenaline boost and friends… magical!
Their zips were some of the best I have ever done. How they start you on a “bunny” zip to tear the waters, make you feel comfortable with what you’re doing and build you up to the big zips. SMART and effective for those in the group that are Leary or fearful of the experience.
The shuttle to and from each experience was easy and quick. Lunch at the golf course was great and needed. Also you can order burgers, beers and additional food there as well.
Then the rafting…. Thank god for Scotty and Ryan. They made it awesome. So experienced and knowledgeable about what they were doing and the area. They shared so many cool personal stories of rafting and their experiences. They did an amazing job with making us feel comfortable and confident so we could feel the adrenaline pumping and truly enjoy the thrill of whitewater rafting without being terrified of being tossed on the class 4’s.
The best guides I have had Ever! And we have done a bit of rafting.
I just want to say thank you to the Rogue Valley company, owner, and all our guides for making my 40th so memorable!

Had to wait an extra 20 minutes for a couple they signed up at the last minute (reason for only 4 stars). Guides were excellent, very professional but also added humor and made it fun. Zip lines were great, getting progressively longer. Our 8 and 12 year old granddaughters loved it. So did us older folks. If you have the $, I would definitely recommend it.

Our family had so much fun at Rogue Valley ZipLine Adventures! We were on a road trip from Colorado and had never been zip lining before. We brought our two boys, 8 and 13. We all had a blast! Our guides Jonah and Lilly were amazing, patient, fun, and always made us feel safe! When our youngest got stung by a wasp and then got stuck out on the last line, Jonah came to the rescue, retrieved him and then administered some minor first aid. Lilly was a hoot, always making us laugh. The two of them were goofy as heck and made a great team. We felt welcome and cared for and would 100% recommend!

The volcanic plateaus of Upper and Lower Table Rock offer scenic trails adorned by seasonal flowers and pools, providing ample opportunities for sighting bobcats and lizards. While the hike to Upper Table Rock is shorter, it is a sight to behold during spring when wildflowers and trees bloom. The trail has several switchbacks that can be challenging at times. On the other hand, Lower Table Rock's plateau offers spectacular views but requires more effort due to its length and strenuousness.
Mind blowing views and surreal setting near Medford. Definitely worth a stop for the quick hike if you’re passing through the area. Can get a little more crowded on weekends, but once you’re at the top of the plateau there’s plenty of room to find your own way.
Jeremie Schuster — Google review
The hike up Upper Table Rock is not dangerous but the grade and switchbacks will burn your legs and lungs. The trail is shaded for much of the way, which is nice because it gets warm. Bring water. I enjoyed the plateau the most, for its view farmland and river, plus majestic Mount McLoughlin off in the distance.
Robert Imrie — Google review
Upper table rock is a shorter hike overall, but in the spring it is absolutely gorgeous as wildflowers and various tree's begin to bloom. It can be trying at times, as it does have a few switchbacks. Lower table rock is both longer and a tad more strenuous. However, the plateau of Lower Table Rock is vast with breathtaking views. You'll want water for both and prepare for a bit of burn (depending on your fitness level).

Hike was a bit strenuous at the top. Views are awesome. Not a fan of all the dogs.

The trails are great, wide. I don't like snakes but I haven't seen any around whenever I go but they are around. I've seen lots of lizards, chipmunks, bugs, butterflies, and squirrels. The view at the top is always worth the hike. It's incredibly magnificent!! You can see the Rogue Valley for miles...even the freeway. Great for tourists and residents alike.

A beautiful day visiting at the Upper Table. It was a bit crowded on the trail but I don't think anyone minded...this is the easier of the two with regard to distance but the vista is equally satisfying. The terrain is a bit more rough in comparison to the Lower so hikers beware, especially on wet days. Both of these trails consistently remain on my favs list in the Rogue Valley.

Excellent productions with fine actors. This town has three comfortable theatres used for a variety of dramas, musicals and some Shakespeare productions during a long March to November season. Loved the 'Preface' ($10) which is a 30-minute talk given by an actor and theatre scholar as an intro to each play's author, storyline and production history. Very informative and helpful if you're going to shows with school age children.

Do not miss this experience. Outdoor theaters are a special treat. Evening performances are exquisite. OSF does everything with flair and style. The talent is stellar. Wine, beer, popcorn and cookies are sold and allowed in open air theaters.
Melody Murphy — Google review
Really cool venue and performance (we saw Twelfth Night). Very unique experience to watch such performances in an outdoor venue. The plays are very modern takes on the classics which make it a little more approachable for those less familiar. I had little knowledge of the story, Twelfth Night, so highly recommend doing a little homework pre-show otherwise you might find yourself lost trying to follow the story (particularly given the heavy early modern English).
The theater is very nice with variety of concessions and easily accessible restrooms.

Recently, as a member, I had to exchange tickets for one of the 10 shows we purchased from May 3rd to May 1st. We were able to get the exact same seats that we had purchased for May 3rd - A1 and A2. I was very surprised and disappointed that they would do that.

Love the theater the show was great! Being that we are from another state and the first time visiting! It would have been nice to have been made aware of mandatory mask and proof of covid vaccinations to enter and open out door theater. Yeah sounds weird and doesn't make sense. But for us to have been made aware when we purchased our tickets and the multiple reminder emails of the upcoming show and asking for donations. Somewhere would have been nice to make that made aware.

Had a very enjoyable evening watching “All’s well that ends well.” They do a great job of presenting a modern interpretation of the play while staying true to the original language. These are not stuffy stiff performances.
One thing we didn’t realize at first is that the theater is open air. So be sure to bring a jacket to stay warm.
Tyler Waite — Google review
I have attended OSF since 1969. The plays in the past were always fantastic, this year sadly the dramatic interpretation of the plays left me short with only discontent. It has been a treat to enjoy Shakespeare in full traditional costumes but that seems to have been only a remembrance from yesteryear. Although I had heard from volunteers, there are hundreds of costumes saved in storage that would be great to see again to enhance the plays.
This year I saw Romeo and Juliet making a current political statement. Perhaps, homelessness should be dealt with in its own play with a creative resolution that would actually address the problems that have developed into homelessness. This was so distracting to a marvelous love story with traditional lines that it was flat.
The next disappointment was The Three Musketeers. The background of the play was interesting about the author Alexandre Dumas but could have been left as an introduction then the play would retain its original script. The foul language really did not add anything to the play and certainly not good for young theatre goers. I did not see disclaimer concerning the language when I ordered my tickets.
I suspect many of us are traditionalist who enjoy our current cultural or political issues in their own plays perhaps not mutilating Shakespeare or the other authors we come to enjoy.
I fear after all these years as OSF reaches toward 100 years of existence faithful patrons may not be rushing back as some of us over half a century. The theatre has been part of my entire life and I would hope Ashland and OSF will find its way back to great entertaining theatre again, for its survival.
Christine Romo-Munday — Google review
January 2023 OSF announced major changes in all things. Due to Covid, the economy, etc....OSF will be taking drastic majors and 2018 season ended with 26 shows - cancelled - or move indoors- huge layoffs and $2-3 Million in losses...Like thousands, we use migrate to Ashland every year for a theater fix.
It is The Best! So Great - and so sad- due to Covid 19 - all plays and musicals are cancelled...Big financial hit to the company. We shall return.

We came from Chico CA and were aware there was some smoke in the area from fires. We came to see The Three Musketeers. We had awesome seats. The smoke was pretty low and we were told by email that we would be informed by email by 5:00 pm if the show would go on. They said the show would go on, we arrived, they opened seating, started playing music and then a man came out to announce that the show was canceled. We could understand to some degree of course but...why did they seat us?
Then, we heard some people saying that they were seating people in Romeo and Juliet which was in doors. When we got to that theater, the doors were closed and it was full. Some people were fortunate enough to get in but we were not. We only heard about it from people walking past that were "in the know" from the right person directing them over to that show. We weren't that lucky. We ended up wandering around town that was mostly closed for a bit and walked back to our hotel. Very disappointing. Empty stage, too bad the show looked promising 😐

Worst "Macbeth" of my life...actors had no mic's, very difficult to hear. Macbeth's best speech was too soft. Some good visual effects. My CA family said they had bad experience last year with Shakespeare, wouldn't return.

Beautiful theatre.
Parking needs to be nearer to it for disabled patrons.
Sound system made me wonder if actors needed amplification but no the director just liked it LOUD. Lots of lunging and missing very few screams of pain as looser dies.
Costumes looked home made. Witches could only be identified because they appeared together.
I learned that the spoils of greed are not satisfying.

It is a beautiful place with a lot of trails to walk on. They have maps posted around the park in different places that display the trails and where each one leads to. Plenty of really cool things to see along the trails. Plus, depending on the time of year that you are there, you're very likely to see different types of wildlife as well. They also have a nice playground for kiddo's to get some energy out and have some fun as well. All in all it is a nice place to visit. It can just get a little crowded on the weekends so if you are able to, I suggest going during the week to avoid the crowds.

Lithia Park has gotten more beautiful over the last 30 years. There's a kids play structure, the Japanese gardens, very challenging stairs going straight up on the hillside for hikers and joggers with the chutzpah to climb, and benches and picnic tables to rest, craft, or eat. Today there was a cello player on the path, a couple artists, some deer, and nice breeze. Be aware there is an E-coli warning for the creek, as of August 2023. But don't let it stop you from enjoying the walking paths. Restrooms are open. No dogs, no bikes, no smoking.

Saw 6 deer before I even parked. Could've given 5 stars off of that. I only walked around half the park, but all, including the Japanese garden, was lovely. I spent quite some time sitting in front of the zen rock garden. The rest of the walk was clean, not too busy, and floral.
Beautiful, quiet just a lovely place to site see and enjoy just how gorgeous this place is! Clean and comforting! Love love love it!

Love it at the Klamath fantastic sunshine blasting through the clouds. My dogs love to walk the river, smelling everything as we go.The wildlife is great you have a chance to see otter swimming, deer grazing or running.possibly a track of something more menacing like a cougar or coyote.Birds are abundant hawks, egrets,Canadian geese, ducks, bald eagles.I spotted a rattlesnake that recently shed its skin and the new skin had shiny green color.Amazing how beautiful that rattlesnake was.Take a friend for a picnic and listen to the river splash by.It can be very relaxing.Enjoy nature say goodbye video games.at least for a few hours. You won't regret it.

You can not swim on the river, nor can you let your dogs swim in it -due to the algae, which has some very harmful viral or bacterial effects. Beautiful to the eye! Fun fishing -not sure if you"d want to eat the fish. Sorry Klamath River,-I long to see you healthy again!

This lake is so peaceful, clean and beautiful that I had to come back to it the day later. There are private coves you can find to get away from others. The few flowers on the shore attract pollinator hummingbird hawk moths. They look just like hummingbirds. I thought I discovered a whole new species.

We would not have known about this spot on the lake if we had not asked at the museum. They gave us directions to their favorite view where we could see the mountain reflection and the bridge at the same time. It was relaxing and a great place to soak up sun and dip toes in cold water.

I have been camping and living right by or near this Lake for well over a decade. There's a great trail that goes all the way around the lake, boat access public beaches private campgrounds apparently good fishing because there's always people there fishing. The campground also rents pontoon boats. There are public outhouses that are maintained fairly well in multiple locations as well as parking and there's a Frisbee golf course right next to it. Every 4th of July this is where they do the fireworks and lots of friendly people can be found walking or biking the trail at all times. There are some picnic table areas and lots of hidden spots to set up your own little private Beach area. It is also very popular with ducks and seagulls. Deer can be regularly seen here as well as tons of squirrels.

Mount Shasta is an awe-inspiring destination that offers a challenging yet immensely rewarding mountaineering experience. Our group of five embarked on the journey to conquer its peak, and the sense of accomplishment we felt upon reaching the summit was truly unparalleled.
The ascent was undoubtedly difficult, requiring perseverance, physical endurance, and mental strength. However, the collective determination and support within our group propelled us forward, overcoming every obstacle along the way. The journey tested our limits, but it also pushed us to discover our true capabilities.
The breathtaking views that unfolded as we climbed higher were simply extraordinary. The rugged beauty of Mount Shasta and the surrounding landscapes took our breath away, making every step worth the effort. The panoramic vistas from the summit allowed us to witness nature's grandeur in all its glory, leaving us in awe of the world around us.
The satisfaction we experienced upon reaching the peak of Mount Shasta was indescribable. It was a culmination of our hard work, determination, and unwavering spirit. The sense of accomplishment that washed over us was overwhelming, reminding us of the incredible things we can achieve when we push ourselves beyond our comfort zones.
Mount Shasta is not only a mountain to conquer but also a place of profound beauty and inspiration. Its majestic presence serves as a reminder of the power of nature and our place within it. The experience of mountaineering on Mount Shasta is not just about reaching the summit—it is about connecting with the natural world, challenging ourselves, and discovering our own inner strength.
Whether you're an experienced mountaineer or someone seeking a transformative adventure, Mount Shasta offers an unforgettable journey. It is a testament to the rewards that come from pushing our limits and embracing the beauty of the world around us. If you're willing to embark on a challenging but immensely fulfilling experience, Mount Shasta is waiting to be conquered, offering stunning views and an overwhelming sense of accomplishment.

An inactive volcano, Mount Shasta is the fifth-highest mountain in the Golden State. 14,179 feet tall it dominates the landscape of this area of Northern California. I'm from North Carolina, which boasts the tallest mountain east of the Mississippi (Mount Mitchell, 6684 feet).
Allegedly, the volcano was last active in 1250 AD. No Yelp then to prove it one way or the other.
There is a fabulous vista point not far away on I-5. I'd love to catch it at sunrise but alas, I'm heading south this afternoon and can't stay to get closer to Mount Shasta. Instead, I'll just have to be satisfied with the great views of the mountain from the highway.

Very spiritual place to climb. I highly recommend that Read Julius Evola’s “Meditations on the Peaks: Mountain Climbing as Metaphor for the Spiritual Quest” before you visit. You know as Evola said
“Considering that today the mountain has been physically conquered and that there are few peaks that man has not yet reached, it is important to keep the conquest from being debased and from losing its higher meaning. Thus, it is necessary that the younger generations gradually come to appreciate action at the level of ritual and that they slowly succeed in finding again a transcendent reference point. It is through this reference point that the feats of audacity, risk, and conquest as well as the disciplines of the body, the senses, and the will that are practiced in the immovable, great, and symbolic mountain peaks, lead men to the realization that all in man is beyond himself. In this way these feats will be justified in the context of the spiritual revolutionary movement that is currently emerging among our people.”

This is an absolutely magical place to experience. At the ascend I was tingling with anticipation. Once we arrived at the Old Ski Bowl Trailhead and seeing various individuals meditating and absorbing the mountains' energy, I knew I was not the only one who felt this.

I was passing by Siskiyou county and witnessed this majestic mountain.
It’s such a pleasure to see this mountain from multiple angles.
Prakash Veer — Google review
The fifth tallest mountain in California and the second highest in the Cascades, second only to Ranier. But what really separates Mt Shasta from the rest of the mountains is literally its separation. The isolation, prominance, and grade make this a remarkable mountain that rises from the local 4,000-14,179.
Any angle you try to climb will be challenging, with slopes that are often 40-45 degrees, covered in scree and talus. But the views from the top of such an isolated mountain are worth it.

The City of Shasta Lake, known as Central Valley or CV prior to incorporation, is a city in Shasta County, California, United States. It is the closest settlement to Shasta Dam and Shasta Lake reservoir, which are popular tourist destinations. Wikipedia.
Lassen Peak, also known as Mount Lassen, is a 10,460 ft. mountain and active volcano offering a popular hike and climb to the summit. The area features the famous Bumpass Hell trail, showcasing Yellowstone-like volcanic landscapes with boiling mud baths, gas expelling fumaroles, and colorful rock formations.
I really enjoyed hiking to the top of Lassen Peak as it offers a lot of great views along the way and the signage throughout the hike is very informative! Although it was foggy, I really enjoyed it regardless! I recommend coming early as this hike will take up between 3-4 hours to finish!

Summiting Lassen Peak is exciting. It's a relatively moderate to strenuous hike with a relatively steady initial climb, a couple of switch-backs around 10,000ft and a final scramble to get to the summit! It's about 5 miles in total from the parking lot and back and around 2000ft in elevation gain. The views once you get up to the peak are certainly spectacular since the summit itself is at around 10,500ft, pretty high when compared to other nearby peaks. There are views of the valley and Bumpass hell as you climb. Recommend lots of water and electrolytes for the hike!

I did this hike on 11/17/2019.
Lassen Peak isn’t easy hike because a lot of elevation changes,
Only a little over 5 miles RT.
But it starts from 8,363 to 10,321 feet, each of the mile is almost 1,000 feet.
Good workout.... trail is so nice, well maker, very detail,(thank to Lassen park).
Spectacular ,panoramic,uninterrupted view.......
Up only haft mile, I’m able to see 3 lakes,(Helen lake, Jupiter lake, and one more but I don’t know the name of this lake).
Up one mile,I’m able to see Cinder Cone.
Mile and a half up, I’m able to see Lava bed,
And up to the top, I’m able to see Mount Shasta.
On the way down,I’m able to see sunset in Lassen National Park.
Love this trip a lot.
I will come back to Lassen Volcanic for different hike.

Been on the list for a long time. Hiked on July 20.
We went up to the top of Brokeoff Mountain the day before. Much more difficult and less traveled than this trail.
Conditions were beautiful the day we went. Followed suggestions of other and got on the mountain early while the snow was firm. Bottom third was covered in snow. We used trekking poles and micro spikes and felt comfortable in the snow. Those in tennis shoes were slipping and falling. Some places would be dangerous slipping around.
Once you get to the switchbacks, it’s easy peasy. Very groomed and even has stairs! The top was gorgeous. We came to the peak just as a marriage proposal was happening! She said yes!!
Be sure to make the scramble to the actual highest peak if you want to be on the top top.
Great hike.

Climbing Lassen Peak is a nice, non-technical hike on a well maintained path. We did this in July and there were only a couple of very short patches of snow on the trail up, and the walkable snowfield at the top. There was no rock hopping until the 100-yd summit scramble up from the large level top area where most hikers stopped. The view from the top is very nice, and Shasta 70 miles away dominates the northern view.
Parking was easy at the trailhead at 9am on a Friday, and the trail wasn't too crowded. We spent an hour at the summit and were down by 1pm.
Bob Frommer — Google review
Hike is only about 5 miles round trip but the 2.5 miles up include 2000 feet of elevation gain. First mile is the tough one as you're getting acclimated to the elevation. After that it's just a series of simple switchbacks to the top and a short scramble at the top. Lots of folks on the trail on a Friday, fortunately almost everyone wore masks. There was a large patch of snow at the top in late July but it does not hinder the hike at all. You can even see Shasta from the top.
Bumpass Hell is a fascinating hydrothermal area in Lassen Volcanic National Park, featuring a trail that leads hikers past mud pots, fumaroles, and boiling springs with stunning mountain views. The hike is relatively easy to moderate, covering a distance of 2.8 miles with an elevation gain of 511 feet. It's best enjoyed between late June/July and mid-October.
Wonder of the world. So wonderful views of the natural hot mud pots. The trail is very scenic and surrounded by awesome views of the hills on all sides. It is rightly called a mini Yellowstone. A very rare place full of thermo springs which are hot and acidic, not suitable to go closer to them and advisable to stick to the trail only. The trail is in the open, so it gets hot during the daytime
Aditya Mehta — Google review
Sticking to the trail is always recommended, but if you're visiting Bumpass Hell we really must insist. To illustrate the point you have to look no further than the man who discovered these volcanic hotsprings, Kendal Bumpass, who managed to fall in and injure his leg not once but twice, the second time requiring his leg to be amputated.
No such fate is likely to befall you these days, thanks to a network of sturdy boardwalks guiding you over and around the boiling pools of water, bubbling mud pots and fuming sulfuric vents. In fact, the 2.3 mile out-and-back trail to the hotsprings is ideally accessible for almost everyone - it's mostly level and well maintained, with great opportunities for southerly mountain views as it winds around the side of a hill before descending no more than a couple of hundred feet to the hotsprings.
This also makes it the most popular hike in the park, so you might want to get there early if you want to avoid the crowds. Also, this trail begins just across the road from the trailhead to Lassen Peak, so you could easily bag both trails in a single day if you chose to do so.

Don't forget to take water and if you think you have enough, pack an extra bottle regardless lol. It was about a 3mile round trip hike. It curves and is a bit steep both there and back. I personally took lots of breaks because I'm not a hiker whatsoever. Plenty of kind people along the way saw me struggling and stopped to offer some encouragement. Slowly, but surely I made it there and back and it was sooo worth it!

A nice hike up to a thermal area. Frying pan was the better trail got much better views from that side. We walked down Bumpass and back up frying pan. We passed the parking lot which was full and went around the corner to park across from Lake Helen. There was a trail from where we parked to the main trail and shortened the hike by a quarter mile. Wear good sturdy shoes. Take some water. The climb up out of the thermal area was steep but doable for us old folks with a hiking pole to assist. Trail was mostly smooth gravel and well defined. Boardwalk though the thermal area.
Michele Schumann — Google review
Otherworldly landscape.
Be extremely careful not to step off the platform and touch any surrounding ground features as the water is acidic and an irritant.
The access to Bumpass Hell requires a hike descending down significantly with mixed steps and mud trails.
Take precautions if you have knee or heart conditions.
There are no amenities or restrooms once you reach this place so plan ahead before descending down.

My wife and I have hiked this trail for years. With our kids being five years old, we felt they were up to the challenge. They slipped a few times going downhill but luckily we were holding their hands so they didn’t come back with any scraped knees or injuries. When we arrived, we noticed the boardwalk through Bumpass Hell was much shorter but that still didn’t take away from our enjoyment. The trail was just long enough for the kids to tolerate, and they enjoyed the “stinky pits”. Next time I will wear sunscreen as I got a pretty good sunburn the next day.

Bumpass Hell trail is still closed at this moment. We took
Kings creek trail -> Cold Boiling Lake -> Bumpass Hell.
Boardwalk has collapsed, but the basin is still accessible(at your own risk!).
Taking this longer trail is still worth it. Climb is gradual about 1000ft. Hike is about 5.2 miles
Rohith Doraiswamy — Google review
Definitely check this trail out if you are in Lassen! Bring water, wear a hat, and wear decent shoes.
This trail is for the most part easy - I'm saying this as someone who loves hiking, but is a casual hiker, and is not in the best shape ever. It definitely is a bit harder coming back if you decide to walk all the way into the valley where the thermals are. If you want an easy hike with a cool view stop before the incline down (where the sign about Bumpass is located.) Down at the bottom part of the raised trail is down, but its not a far walk to turn around and take a different trail. The views on the other side of the trail are great, too. Just beware its Sulphur, so it will be really stinky in some areas. Would not want to be here if there was no wind blowing, lol. Now, turning around and heading back out of this place was a bit rough. The incline is steep, with lots of switchbacks. Closer to the bottom is not as bad as there is shade, but you lose it towards the top. We went on a fairly warm day, too. But once you get to the top where the sign about Mr. Bumpass is its pretty easy again.

Did you know that there is a mini-Yellowstone in Northern California? I didn’t! And it’s located in Lassen National Park several hours north of Lake Tahoe, a park that I only recently found out about. The Bumpass Hell geothermal area is a great easy-moderate hike through beautiful paths. At the end you reach a boardwalk through an active area with sulfur springs, steam vents and mud pots. Then hike a little further to overlook points to see it all from above. Bonuses are the elliptical orb rock perched by the parking lot and the Very clean restrooms there. Why do they call it Bumpass Hell? I’ll leave that for you to explore. :)

This is not an easy Trail for beginners!! The beginning quarter is pretty paved and flat but then it becomes pretty rigid. The last quarter to the actual "hell" is steep and intense, going down and coming up. Well worth the hike though. Gets super hot and crowded so come early no later than 9 am.
The Pacific Crest Trail (PCT) in the vicinity of Chester may not offer thrilling adventures, but it provides a pleasant and effortless route for hikers looking to unwind. They ruining the beautiful scenery. They are show off blasting there music so loud and the song are all about swearing🤬 even though there are kids around in docks. They don’t have any common sense that they can just go play there music like move away from the docks that no one can hear their swearing song. It is also close to Mt.Lassen Volcanic National Park.

The Animal Ark is a non-profit wildlife sanctuary and nature center that provides educational opportunities for visitors of all ages. Most of the animals at the habitat have been rescued and the staff are friendly. However, there were some concerns about animal behavior that may indicate an unsuitable environment or anxiety. The facility is clean and offers accessible pathways with well-maintained exhibit groups.
Most of the animals here are rescued. Ppl here are friendly! Price is fair. However, I saw some animals keep on stepping back and forward. I am not sure doesn’t it mean the environment is not suitable for them or it’s a behavior out of anxiety. Hoping the staff can go check a female raccoon that live by herself.

Animal Ark is a great animal sanctuary in the Northern Nevada desert. There is a variety of animals and big cats to see. When I visited the cheetah was injured so was in a back pen, but the other big cats were out, with the mountain lion being the most hidden as expected. We went on a field trip. We also have a season pass. It was ok. Certainly nice to have something in the area but I wouldn't consider this a must see. Personally the staff hasn't really made us feel very welcome on the 2 instances we have visited, which is why I deducted 2 stars. The 1st visit we bought our pass and whoever checked us out didn't write down what kind of membership we bought and when someone else called to confirm she kind of gave me the 10th degree. I felt like it was pretty clear what we had purchased. I let it go though but when we went on our field trip right before Thanksgiving, the gal was a little rude to 1st graders in my opinion. She also rushed us through all the exhibits. I am not sure if she was having a rough day or what. It wasn't the best experience and the other parents and teacher on the trip all commented on it. The facilities are well laid out, and taken care of. The staff is dedicated, friendly and knowledgeable. It's a drive, but better for the critters that way, and worth it. The animals all have well designed spacious enclosures, as well as the signage is great. With all of them having covered viewing sheds, including the explanation for how each respective critter found itself there. They are all extremely well taken care of, and have continuously enrichment environments and enclosures. The facility is doing a great job, and good work. Take the drive to visit, it's worth it. Go early, check out the feedings for the bears at 10:30, and 11. As well as cooler mornings and the animals are more active.

What a wonderful experience we had at Animal Ark today!
Try to arrive as soon as they open... the animals are most active & you can watch the bear feedings!
You can see it all in less than an hour but I recommend taking your time when observing the animals... they're fascinating!
The staff & volunteers are so great & informative. You can tell they really care for the animals.
The jaguar is incredible, the wolves were very cool, & we found the raccoons & tortoises adorable!
The animals look well taken care of & the enclosures are clean.
Don't forget to stop at the gift shop & buy some snacks, drinks &/or souvenirs... all proceeds go toward the sanctuary & lord knows they need it! Those big cats can eat!

This was an amazing experience! Let's start off by saying of you can't walk the 1 mile trail. Have no fear you can rent a golf cart! The animals were amazing and very well taken care of. We decided to adopt a few animals and will return every month to do it again

Had a great time at the Ark! Staff and volunteers were friendly and helpful. The animals were out cuz it was still cool, missed the tigers though, they were lounging in the shade out of sight.

The staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. They were patient and listened intently to both my 6 and 4 year old who love all things animals and answered their 100 questions without any signs of annoyance. They have a great selection of cats, we were happily surprised to see a Jaguar here. Definitely wear tennis shoes since the path is mostly sand.

The volunteers and staff love what they do and it shows. Very clean and organized. Each animal has their own story and facility is well maintained. Highly recommend for kids and family. Its outdoors so great walking shoes, strollers are good to use.
Donner Memorial State Park is a vast area that offers various recreational activities such as hiking, camping, fishing, and boating. It also features the Emigrant Trail Museum and a historic monument that tells the story of the Donner Party's challenges. The park staff at the visitor center are helpful in providing information about the place. There are plenty of scenic stops along the lake for morning, afternoon or evening picnics.
I went with my friends for sledding and it didn't disappoint. This park is absolutely beautiful and there's so many activities that you can do! I saw people with their dogs and other people doing snowshoeing and Backcountry ski. I was not able to go to the museum and hike since I was in a group, but will definitely come back for more!

This is such a beautiful place to visit!! The beach is gorgeous with clear lake water and the views is amazing. The water obviously is a bit cold so be aware of that in cause you go swimming. There is a playground, a snack shop, restrooms. You do have to pay an entrance fee. I think it was about $10-12 to get in and for kids and seniors it’s less. But I highly recommend this beautiful place. Lastly is parking is always a bit of a struggle. So keep that in mind. You will need to wait a bit to find a spot.

It's beautiful in winter, lots of snow. Though you can get your leg stuck in the snow in as deep as 2 or 3 feet. But I still love this place and highly recommend coming :)

We had driven by the park dozens of time on trips from the west coast. We have since moves but had occasion to pass by the park once again and decided to make it a stopping point. We enjoyed the hike to and along Donner Lake. The park staff at the visitors center were helpful and attentive. Understanding the Donner party story better gave us an appreciation for the challenges of the time. This is a beautiful part of the Western United States.

Fun place to visit for a history buff like myself. It's crazy to see a place with such a unbelievable sequence of events. The thing is that you get to set foot in the exact location where the dinner family tried to survive the winter. It is tough to imagine this place being I. The middle of nowhere because you have a major highway and train tracks within ear distance. Having said that, it was well worth the ten bucks.

Enjoyed the few minutes we had before the park closed. With just the snow on the ground, it's still hard to imagine snow 22ft deep and trying to pass through that area. A nice memorial for the tragedy and hardship they endured. Hope to return to again to see the trails and museum.

Exploring History and Nature at Donner Memorial State Park
Visiting Donner Memorial State Park was an enriching experience that combined a deep dive into history with the beauty of nature. This park is not just a place for outdoor activities; it's a site of historical significance with an impressive museum and an inviting gift shop.
The museum at the park is a standout feature. It offers a comprehensive and respectful portrayal of the Donner Party's story, providing a poignant and educational glimpse into a significant chapter of American history. The exhibits are well-curated and engaging, making it a great history lesson for visitors of all ages.
The staff at the park deserves a special mention for their knowledge and friendliness. They were eager to share information and answer questions, enhancing our understanding and appreciation of the park and its history. Their passion for the park and its story was evident and contagious.
The park itself is a beautiful place to explore. With well-maintained trails and scenic views, it’s a perfect setting for a day of outdoor activities. Whether you're interested in hiking, picnicking, or simply enjoying the tranquility of nature, the park offers something for everyone.
The gift shop at the park was a delightful surprise. It's filled with a variety of interesting and unique items, making it easy to find a special souvenir to remember your visit.
In conclusion, Donner Memorial State Park is a must-visit for anyone interested in American history, nature, or just looking for a peaceful day out. Came down from Canada to live some Donner party realness. Read 12 books before I arrived. And now I'm here! A self guided tour about the Donner party, the chinese and the indigenous people.
I didnt really feel like they had the questions to my answers but they sure tried hard to find out.
We were a little disappointed at how the indigenous people were depicted. Considering they had been here way before the Donners ever arrived.
Beautiful walks, scenery, and views... can be cold and windy, so be prepared.
As a Donner enthusiast I would have liked a little more, a map of the camps would have been helpful.
Overall had a great time, would love to come back, staff was very friendly. I would even love to apply and get a job, so I can share all the information I have on the Donner party with others.

Beautifully maintained park with plenty of tiny beachlets for a family outing at the edge of Donner Lake.Helpful and friendly staff. 3 Clean restroom spaced a long the parking lots. $10. Day use parking $9.00 for seniors. Large informational illustrated signage along the path between parking and lake. Lots of shady tree areas for relief from the sun. Dog friendly !
Picnic lunch by the lake the best afternoon ever.

This is a well-taken care park. Everything is clean. Dogs are, mostly, on leash. Some parts are very close to the highway and its noise but the noise does eventually fades away. Rangers are very kind and resourceful. Great trees and beautiful birds. Bring your favorite mosquito repellent.

I stayed at this amazing resort for a week for my skiing trip with my cousins and my aunt and uncle. It was awesome. There was so much to do and the area was beautiful. Actually I have an awesome story. So when we were there, the snow covered everything and the outdoor hot tubs all had a barrier of snow. Me, my little cousin, and some other people were in the hot tub right next to another one. And basically the other hot tub engaged in war with us, and another hot tub nearby. It got pretty heated, I even made alliances with the other hot tub that was also being attacked by the one next to us. Soon we destroyed the hot tub that started it and they fled into the pool. Honestly this was an amazing experience I hope I can go again this year! We spent Christmas here as well

Overall, we enjoyed our experience. The views are amazing and there was a decent amount and variety of terrain. We went on a day where temps got up into the mid 50s and the snow was definitely slushy and sticky in spots. Multiple lifts were also closed, further limiting options. On the plus side, there were very few crowds on a weekday, so lift wait times were great. Overall, I would come back, but never at full price, as I feel like the value proposition is not there, especially during the spring and with less slopes open.

Definitely a great place to go if you love the outdoors. Away from hustle of Tahoe City and the lake. It's a nice relaxing area and there is the history of it as well as the 1960 winter Olympics were held there

This is a glorious place to spend a day skiing. It consistently rates as the best resort in Northern California. As a bonus you can also ski Alpine which is also a top resort and arguably more enjoyable given its smaller crowds and local feel. Both resorts are stunningly beautiful with an abundance of terrain to explore. Tips up!

My Wife and I stayed here and we were definitely impressed. The resort is first class, we rented the fireplace Suite which was perfect. As soon as you pull up the valet guys are right there to greet you. We walked in the front doors to a beautiful lobby complete with a fireplace and plenty of lounge areas. The restaurants were nice, food and drinks were great.
They have a ski lift there. We did not experience that as we took lessons in the Village. The pools are all heated and There are multiple hot tubs around them to relax in. Outside there are fireplaces, a waterfall, and plenty of places to just sit and relax. If you get the chance to visit, We highly recommend!

Palisades Tahoe marketed their slopes as being open. But only about 10% of the runs were open. Yet, they're still charging $200/day for a lift ticket. I definitely didn't get my money's worth, despite driving for God knows how many hours to get here. All of the people working here were great. Just their businesses practices are less than stellar.
Tristan Heberlein — Google review
I had a good time, and was quite impressed at the lack of lines/speed of lifts. Even on a Saturday, with the parking lot full, I barely experienced any waits on the alpine lifts.
The intermediate terrain felt quite limited though. I basically just did the same run through the central valley of the mountain over and over again, which wasn’t terribly fun with all the beginner traffic.
The terrain was a 2-3 star at best, the 4 star rating is because of the amazing logistics. Gondola and lots of fast lifts made for positive overall experience. I wouldn’t specifically make a trip to this place, but if I was in the region I’d definitely come back.

We went to visit my brother in Truckee and were able to spend three days skiing. The resort is well maintained, beyond beautiful scenery, great restaurants, shops, and the skiing is phenomenal. The only drawback is the layout. For beginners, the resort is laid out somewhat poorly. The greens are typically closer to the bottom whereas here they are quite a ways up and hard to navigate which can quickly become problematic. Loved all the options though from the runs to the shopping, etc. Will definitely be back!

Big, big, ski resort. It has an incredible variety of ski trails, wonderful views of the mountains and a very helpful friendly staff. It is also very expensive! You pay for everything. Some of the season passes offer a good value if you have the schedule to take advantageous of them. The gondola rides are enjoyable for even the non skiers.
Ralph Hibbs — Google review
Great terrain, great snow, and the resort is often open and accessible when others are not. The resort staff is friendly and their efforts to keep things going in all conditions is very visible and makes a considerable difference to the great benefit of all guests. The lift lines move quickly and there is plenty of parking that’s orderly and organized which translates into more time on the slopes. With such a great spot a person would normally keep quiet and keep it to themselves but I think the word is already out. This is where you wanna be, especially if you want more challenging and fun terrain with consistent deep powder days.

Beautiful and vast.
Easy access to several different peaks including Alpine Meadow via the base to base gondola.
View from up top are unforgettable.
Icon pass options make it easy and somewhat affordable if you’re going for more than a day or two.
There was a ton of snow when we were there and the ops team did an amazing job getting the lifts/slopes open and running.

Took the giant tram up the mountain to the Gold coast cabin. The 110 person tram is huge and there are beautiful views. Once at top they have free roller skating and a restaurant and drinks. Beautiful meadows abound with tons of wild flowers. There are several hiking trails you can take from there. It is $44 per adult to go up. Season ski pass holders and Icon passholders (for next season) are free. Really worth the trip.

The menu at Mid-Mountain is great, lots of gluten free options!

Palisades is a world class ski resort for a reason. It's definitely not a mountain for beginners learning to ski, but there are a few green runs that would be fine for practice. We frequent Shirley Lake and Granite Chief, which has a great mix of advanced blues and challenging black runs. It can get crowded, so we make sure we're on time for first chair. Alpine Meadows is a hidden gem; less crowded than Palisades with gorgeous, wide open runs all over the mountain. The Base to Base gondola rarely has a line and is really convenient to be able to traverse both mountains. Chamois is a classic for aprés but definitely fills up after last chair, and Wildflour has great cookies for an end of day treat.

Located in Reno, the Silver Legacy Resort Casino boasts a huge tower and dome that are easily recognizable. The casino features 1400 slots machines, 85 gaming tables and a 30 screen race and sports book theatre. With regular bonus opportunities on tap, the Silver Legacy is perfect for gamers of all levels of experience.
The rooms here are much nicer than you would expect from an older hotel. I have stayed there off and on for years. Parking easy. Luggage drop off is easy check in easy. Quicker than other establishments. Usually three people more concise streamline so easier to in and out. All the views are very good of downtown. This pool picture is 100% accurate but it only has three of those covered comfortable beds but they do not charge extra so go early if you want to snag one. Don't bring your towel from the hotel room they have plenty of them poolside.

We stayed for 6 nights in the Sliver Legacy. We were originally quoted a much lower price than we got, they did not honor the booking discount we were given. We got into town with 2 kids in the car, and requested an early check in for the first day. It wasn't until we checked out that we realized that they had charged us that early check in fee for EVERY day we were there, when it was clearly stated it was for only one day. My wife checked out and didn't catch the mistake. I've since called, and was redirected to the billing department. Conveniently for them, they did not answer during business hours. They have yet return my voice message.
During our stay, we kept the DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door every day and did the cleaning ourselves, as we were not in the room midday. On one of the days the housekeeping had come in despite the sign on the door, and the sign itself was just laying on the floor of our room. If they had come in to clean why didn't they pick that up?
I wont be staying here again.

We are really enjoying our stay here (it's our 2nd full day out of 3.5). The staff has been very friendly. The room is clean and spacious. Christine at the front desk was awesome and helped us get checked in a day early, and got us a beautiful room with an amazing view, per my husband's picky requests. She was very accommodating. There are many places to choose from to eat, and it is conveniently located on The Row close to the bowling center (the reason we are here) and other casinos. There are also family friendly activities offered inside the hotel.

Honestly it's the only place I think I'll stay at when I visit Reno. I love the non-smoking rooms, the lobby doesn't smell like smoke, the environment from elevators and halls is a warm feeling. It's a pretty clean hotel as far as my visit went. I think the only thing I would say kind of sucked was a deposit being held close to another week after check out but again that may vary with your bank. Other than that I know what to expect and I will return. Thank you Silver Legacy.

Came here for a business conference at the Casino. The room was nice, but finding an opened condom wrapper in one of the dresser drawers in the room was an immediate turn off. Place is run down a bit, especially the parking garage vestibules to the elevators.
Staff was very friendly when there was any type of interaction. A Kid working at the front desk was too busy on his phone for 5-10 minutes to notice me when I was looking for recommendations for a place to eat in the early hours of the morning before the conference started due to my schedule being off from dealing with a 3 hour time zone change. They could probably use a bell at the desk.
Several restaurants had posted hours of operations, but hostesses said seating was shutting down an hour before official closing. Dinner at Roxy’s one night took forever, and they ran out of the cuts of beef that our party ordered and then brought different dishes as substitutions without even asking what they’d like. Food court tables and chairs were dirty from previous guests.
Millie’s had excellent portions, good food, and the staff was friendly and helpful.
Got a massage and both the spa staff and masseuse were great.
Wish they could do better getting the cigarette smoke from the casino out of the hotel areas. I’m sure that’s a tough task.
Self serve kiosks were nice for checking in and out.
Overall I’d give it a 3 out of 5.

Overall, everything was satisfactory during my stay. Although the facilities were relatively old, it is understandable considering that many years the casino has been operating. However, the location was convenient with free parking and nearby amenities. The staff were friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic, which was greatly appreciated. This reflects the excellent training that management has worked hard on it. The only issue I encountered was with the small safe-box in my room, which was locked by a previous guest and could not be unlocked, even after reporting it to the front desk and requesting maintenance to fix it. Unfortunately, this issue was not resolved during my stay, and I had to carry my lap-top and document in and out of the hotel. I hope this was an isolated case and not a reflection of the entire maintenance department's performance.

We had the pleasure of staying at a most accommodating motel. They saw that my spouse was handicapped. They allowed us to use the valet parking. We love the Silver Legacy. Always super clean, quiet, such a walkable hotel within the Row. Check in is always smooth and the workers are always friendly. Coffee in your room and a shop just past the lobby many good food options walkable within the row. This is a favorite place to stay knowing we will always have a clean room and quiet stay. Nothing negative to say, we love it as a fast getaway.

The rooms were very dirty. My family had to change our room twice. And it took 1 hour to change it. The first room had cookie crumbs everywhere. I think they hadn't cleaned the room. Our second room was even more dirty! In the bathroom, there was hairball and some weird crumbs.
Since we had to change our rooms twice, we were all exhausted and couldn't rest properly after our long trip. I highly do not recommend you to stay here.

Stayed 2 nights at the Silver Legacy and we had a good time. The hotel staff was great and there are plenty of places to eat within the casino. The rooms had plenty of space and had a coffee maker and mini fridge. The casino isn't too big so it is easy to navigate. The cocktail waitresses didn't come around as often as I would like. You can access the other 2 properties without going outside which was convenient. There are a few restaurants and liquor stores outside the casinos that are walking distance.

We got great non smoking rooms on a non smoking floor. Super clean and updated. Room and floor did not smell of smoke until you got to the elevators. Of the three casinos, this one smelled of smoke the least. Helpful staff, they gave out free champagne when they thought the check in line was too long. Decent dining options.

My recent stay at the Silver Legacy was a pleasant surprise. Having experienced dated rooms on a previous visit, I was delighted to find that everything had been freshly renovated this time around. The check-in process using the kiosk was incredibly easy and convenient, making it a hassle-free start to my stay. I would definitely recommend the Silver Legacy to anyone staying in the area. We booked our room for 2 nights. We had comps be they there were 2 different codes. This was confusing for the person booking the reservation and when we checked in.
We finally got settled in and everything was good. Until 8 am the next morning. We were laying in bed just waking up. The lady from housekeeping knocked once and came on in. We had the do not disturb sign on the door. We told her we did not want services. She looked around the room and then left. What happens the next morning at 8am. The same lady knocked once and opened the door. I was walking towards the door and did not even have enough time to stop her. My husband had just gotten out of the shower and had to jump behind the door. I told her we have not checked out and my husband was naked. When I pointed out the the do not disturb was on the door she just said oh. Be sure to lock the dead bolt on the inside of the door. Not much privacy in the morning.

It was late and I was put off by the resort fee. I grumbled about it to the check-in associate, Christine. She was so sweet and caring that I almost forgot about my disdain for resort fees.
Then, much to my surprise, the room was fantastic! Very modern, clean, and comfortable. And a great view of snow covered mountains. Slept like a baby.
I typically prefer to check out in person at the desk. Much to my delight, Christine was there. Her lovely smile (hidden behind the covid face covering) was the perfect way to end a delightful stay at Silver Legacy.
A final shot at the resort fee: Note to management Lose the resort fee, please! The stay was worth every dollar - including the dreaded fee. Just be honest, roll the fee into the basic room rate. You've got a great place, don't tarnish it with a mandatory fee that no one likes.

Nice room. Very clean and comfortable. The casino can use a overhaul though. Not as many games as you'd expect and mostly old out dated ones.
The location used to be the spot to be at, unfortunately and no fault of the silver legacy, that part of Reno seems to be dying out. All the cool spots are closed or going out of business.
I do recommend going here with your kids because it's connected with circus circus and your kids will have the time of their lives.
As long as you don't go outside and stay warm in the three connected casinos that make up "The Row", it's worth at least checking out

I would have given it 4 stars for the cleanliness and most of the staff, but due to the front desk not being honest and the hotel playing music at all hours outside our room, I couldn't. I gave one star because the room was clean. And one star because the cleaning staff and casino staff were good. The issue I had with Silver Legacy was that I barely got any sleep due to speakers from their pool playing music 24hrs a day even though the pool is closed from 8 pm to 8 am every night. If you're staying on the 5th floor and are anywhere near the pool, you will have the music going. The front desk will tell you they will look into it or it's a party, but they will not actually do anything about it. We called and went down in person twice and even spoke to a supervisor. Luckily, we were only there for 2 nights. In the pics are the speakers I am talking about. Now, if the pool was open 24 hours, I would have understood why they needed music at 3,4,5 am. But since the pool is closed and you can't use it. Why play music at all hours? I am a light sleeper, and we slept in the bed furthest from the windows, and it still kept waking me up. Otherwise, our view was nice, and it's within walking distance of the Nevada Art museum and good restaurants. Brew Brothers has good beer.

Always a fun time here. The people in all aspects of the hotel are very nice, courteous and attentive. The place is always super clean. I recommend the rum jungle for some good laughs. Ruth Chris is always a must and brews brothers I'd always on point as well. They also have one of the best sports books around.

I did a wonderful spa treatment (coffee scrub&massage). I think it was around $200 after taxes and 20 percent gratuity. Also, you can just use the spa services for $60 a day. They have a wonderful. Outdoor spa and patio with a water wall. Spa was hot, but I definitely took advantage of the cold weather wall.😄 They also ,behind that wall. Have the roof top pool ,which is down from the entrance of the spa to enter there, and they have towels for you and many different kinds of lounge chairs . It is much smaller than it looks like in the pictures online, but they do serve alcohol.😜4th floor. And you can use these things even if you are staying at circus circus or.?

I’ve never left a negative review before but this was so deserving. The customer service at this hotel is horrific. The concierge lady NADINE was absolutely so rude. When we approached her desk without looking up she told us to “wait” and we did which is no problem. But then after a long time she says “last name” without looking up and then repeats “I’m going to need a last name”. Rudely and flatly. The rest of the interaction was just as dreadful and it felt as if we were bothering her by checking in, and it was 9:15pm. I’m so unclear what we did to provoke this response but it made me feel unsafe and want to leave immediately. On the contrary, we went to dinner and god sent BRIDGET from Colorado. She saved the evening with her lovely personality. She was a kindred spirit, was super helpful, and jovial. She really turned the entire trip around.

The best thing about the hotel was location and free parking. Room is your standard casino hotel room. No microwave so can’t warm up leftovers. Service was all so impersonal, even the front desk. But I gave 4 stars for service because the business center people were very helpful when I needed to print a page.

Very nice hotel! Super clean and friendly staff. The view from our room was absolutely stunning!!! Slots and tables available at the casino, along with many other things! Tons of food options as well!

Room was nice, clean, great view of the mountains. lobby was large, gaudy, and stunk of cheap perfume and cigarettes but it’s a casino so what else would you expect. Service behind the counter was sluggish. took a long time to get our room keys. Microwave as mandated in our hotel contract was in a completely different building, way too much of a hassle to get to. Long walk from the front door too. Disappointed that I may have to return at some point.

Pretty dated hotel, but the remote check-in and check-out was very convenient. The room was clean, spacious and quite up to date. Also loads of outlets and USB ports for all your charging needs. Decent bathroom with nice shampoos, soaps and lotions. The location is very central, and the few highlights Reno (city) has to offer are all easily reached on foot. Free parking is available.

We had an event here and the casino is beautiful, though I dislike that Nevada still allows smoking inside at casinos. (Or the smoke has so permeated everything that it will never get out.)
The staff was helpful and efficient at getting our event going and were great hosts .

The rooms are surprisingly nice. Mattresses are memory foam, pillows are not too stiff, all glass-fronted shower. Casino slot machines seemed overly tight. Table games where a lot of fun. Friendly staff. Breezeways connect the el dorado casino and circus circus. Lots of fun. All day and night parking. The $56/night rooms are a real deal!! You walk out feeling like a winner no matter what happens

Very disappointing we asked for a non-smoking room, and our room smells like someone is smoking 20 cigarettes! My 11 yr old even had a nosebleed. Our noses hurt from the cigarette smell and dry noses. We will not stay at this hotel anymore, we came here 2 yrs ago and rooms were nicer and we could breath. Horrible! Our clothes stinks like cigarettes too! We can't wait to leave this hotel tomorrow ASAP to get some fresh air.
Slot machines are very expensive, I finally found one if my favorite texas tea slot machine played $100 and no one never came around to offer a drink, we looked around and couldn't find a waitress. It was a group of 19 family members that came and left $$$. I don't recommend this hotel or casino. Rooms are not the cleanest and my pillow case had a hole too. Box of tissue was pretty much empty too.

Silver Star Legacy Casino offers a decent gaming experience with a variety of options for entertainment. The atmosphere is lively, and the staff is generally friendly. However, the dining choices could be improved, and the overall cleanliness of the facility needs more attention. While it's worth a visit, there's room for enhancement to truly shine among its competitors
The Truckee River Walk is a picturesque and serene pathway that runs alongside the Truckee River in downtown Reno, Nevada. The walk offers stunning views of the river, as well as access to parks, public art installations, and various dining and entertainment options. This museum has a collection of over 200 vintage and antique cars, plus educational exhibits covering the history of the automobile industry. It is one of the best museums in the country, and it is worth a visit for car aficionados of any level of interest.
I love love love this museum!! Has many of the iconic cars... star cars and cars of all centuries. I am a fan. Staff is amazing! It is a museum so absolutely no touching any car BUT ONE. :) I love the set up and displays. I recommend this marvelous place to anyone!

The very best!! I love bringing friends and family here when they visit Reno- it truly is a must-see for anyone who loves movies, cats, history, really they have it all! Most recently brought my baby brother here for the holidays and he loved it! They truly care about keeping these cars looking lovely and they have so many fascinating tidbits of history- including cars that have raced out on the salt flats of Utah! Unique, beautiful experience, perfect for adults and kids that are old enough to be respectful and not touch the displays.

This was a wonderful find. Good location on Mill St in downtown Reno. Parking is free on location. $13 fee for seniors. Ooens at 9sm weekdays. Tour is at 1:30pm when docent is available. We were cheerfully greeted at the entrance and given information. Hubby and I love vintage cars. We were over whelmed by the 175 automobiles. Each gallery is excellently displayed by theme and vintage year. We were amazed by the excellent shape of the autos. The Hollywood gallery was fun. We allowed to get inside the Model T auto for personal pictures. They had hats abd boas to wear for the pictures. There is a video room for viewing. There gift shop was fun to check out for souvenirs.

The National Automobile Museum in Reno is an amazing museum to visit if you like cars. There are over a hundred cars in the museum with different galleries that change for the era of cars in each gallery. There are also some historic famous cars that were either celebrity cars, in movies, or just one of a kind cars. They also have different exhibits and change out a few cars about every three months or so. Well worth a visit if in Reno to see some amazing cars throughout history.

Fantastic auto museum! The displays take you through automotive history decades at a time. And they have a large selection of rare and odd cars. They also have some famous cars that have been in movies including the Batmobile. If you’re coming to Reno this is a great way to spend two hours. Any car enthusiast will thoroughly enjoy the museum

Fun museum to visit. The car placards have detailed information about them. The sets that they have created to go along with the cars add an immersive effect. I wish they had some hands-on stuff for children or a vehicle a child could get into. Even an old car horn a child could honk would be nice. My daughter still enjoyed herself but this is definitely more aimed at adults.

Highly recommended! If you have an hour or 2 to spare, use it here! It's incredible! So many cars and in different areas from the 1900s to present. Every car has a story so if you want to read all of them, it might take you 3 to 4 hours. Very friendly and helpful staff and clean restrooms. Plenty of parking also.

WOW, hard to describe! If you are in Reno, don't miss this stop, even if you are not a car fan. The incredible job of recreating the storefronts with the cars parked out front is amazing. All indoor walking is easy, and park benches along the way to sit a spell. The staff is amazing; they love their jobs and can't wait to explain all of the details involved. Plenty of selfie stations some with costumes. Really nice exhibit with so much history.

This place is absolutely awesome. 4 huge galleries of every kind of car imaginable. Celeb cars, old cars, race cars, you name it! Great historical explanations too and interactive stuff for kids. They even have a curatorial theme of women in cars. If Reno's tawdry side has you down, come here. Wish all museums were this engaging. A true gem.

They also offer tours but we unfortunately did not have time. I recommend visiting this museum if you have never been. 10/10 would visit again.

Fantastic, surprisingly amazing place to spend a few hours. If you have a chance to take a tour with the docent - you'll find this even more interesting. Incredible collection of trigger point and history making automobiles gives you a feel for the evolution of the entire automotive industry. So many interesting exhibits, informative signage for each, and really nice displays - like gas stations, streets scenes, and other great setting to complement the autos. The story of how this exhibit came to be is almost as interesting as the autos themselves. I learned so much from the docent, and I thought I was already kind of a car guy. I'll be back again, it was that good! Highly recommended, even if you're not a car guy - you'll learn why cars today work the way they do, and reasons why. Thanks for making this such a great museum!

The Peppermill Resort Spa Casino is an AAA Four Diamond resort that offers luxurious quarters and eclectic dining, as well as a nightclub and a casino. The resort is also environmentally friendly, with 1,621 super luxury bedrooms including the much hyped 600-room all-suite Tuscany Tower. Guests can enjoy the spa and salon, indoor pool, and sundeck at the Peppermill Resort Spa Casino.
I've been to dozens and dozens of casinos throughout the country. This is truly one of the nicest I've ever been to. It is modern, clean and extremely well managed. The poker room is awesome! The poker tournament manager did an exemplary job and was super friendly. I have never seen a tournament that is so well run. They really have their stuff together here. I was only there for a day on the way to Tahoe, but we are already planning to come back for a week long stay at the Pepper Mill. I'm impressed to say the least.

The Peppermill, Where to start.
Positives: Plenty of things to do, Casino variety, excellent parking and access.
Lots of shops and activities. It looks really nice and fancy but looks can be deceiving.
Negative: This is mostly tailored to my experience. My girlfriend got us a couples suite. I believe it was the wedding suite(Not married just staying as a couple). When we got here it was around 1pm and check-in isn't until 3pm. We asked for early check-in and they told us no problem it will be just a bit. So we decided to go explore. 3pm rolls around and they told us they needed to go check if it was ready. It was not and they needed to clean it. 5pm rolls around...nothing, 6pm rolls around... still waiting. 8pm I went up and another service agent was at the table and they told us the room wasn't ready. Explained how long we have waited and they managed to get us a room. it was the room we were hoping for but my oh my was it horrible. the room had moths in it. The crows where cawing all freaking night long. They obviously put us in whatever couples room they had open cause the view out the window was just a wall. it was quite upsetting and it ruined our little couples trip. The resort overall is really expensive and to be honest not that impressive compared to other places you can stay at in town. When I made my complaint the next day they did drop the service fee and we decided to leave a day early and stay somewhere else.

The Peppermill is one of the top tier casinos and hotels in Reno. Their rooms are top-notch, especially the themed rooms. Their casino is expansive and very accommodating to various players. Whether you like table games or slots, they have you covered. Jackpots hit here at a good rate. Their slot tournaments are very rewarding. Do yourself a favor and visit this amazing resort. Oh, and the food options are amazing as well. The location is so-so as it is surrounded by low income housing, allowing for a lot of vagrants and beggers.

I got a suite there for 40 bucks because I had enough points from a casino game I play on my phone. I redeemed my points and only had to pay a resort fee. The suite was huge with a jet bathtub, fit two people easy. The shower had two heads, king size bed, and a bunch of coupons they gave me for other stuff. It's a beautiful casino, very clean, worker's are all polite. Check in and out was easy. Two thumbs up!

Love this place. Some of the best restaurants in Reno, and definitely one of the most lavish settings I’ve encountered. I don’t gamble, but I’ve met up with friends quite a few times and even gone solo a couple times for the hotel, food, and/or live music, and occasionally hit the shops while I’m there. I’ve heard from reliable sources that this is the nicest spa in Reno, and I can’t wait to check it out.

One of my most favorite hotels in Reno… well, just in general. I love the Tuscany side. You have to book a room on the Tuscany side as they have so much more to offer. I travel with my family a lot so having 2 King beds in a room is ideal. Other hotels offer two queens or full beds which can be entirely too small for two people.
The room offers a sitting area, closet, a massive bathroom with double sinks, a separate toilet, double head shower and a large jacuzzi tub. They have smoking and nonsmoking floors and if you don’t smoke- don’t get stuck on a smoking floor. It stinks. However, they do have air purifiers in the smoking rooms which helps out a lot.
Bimini is located in the hotel and is a must visit restaurant. Always love my experience and food there.
It’s a very lovely hotel and we are always lucky to find close parking. I love that there’s an arcade there for the kiddos to stay entertained, and not to forget the pools which are just lovely (and so beautiful to look at).
Highly recommend!

Central Casino close to airport and Riverwalk by car.
Clean rooms and casino. Great poker room! Lots of great restaurants. Tuscany Tower is more luxurious side to stay.
The Spa is absolutely amazing with 3 private floors. Hot tub, steam room, sauna, cold plunge pool.
Top floor has a pool with 2 small hot tubs, a veranda over looking the main pool. Massages are on the second floor and my 50 minute Swedish massage by Ginger was excellent.

The peppermill casino is wonderful..they have slot machines and poker tables but they have much more...they have a game arcade with retro games ..I do not gamble so that was really important to me....they have swim pools. A really big one a hot tub and a special pool with a kind of waterfall...they have a state of the art fitness center...I really enjoyed the fitness center with a sauna and treadmill, and very special machines and free weights. The service was phenomenal and I want to express how well they take care of you. Very good!!!! They have a variety of restaurants all good prices, and delicious.....visit this casino you won't be sorry.

The views are nice from our room. Nice pool and multiple gyms, restaurants and lounges. Comfy beds and pillows. We didn’t know at first but you can request a microwave, so we did. It was there within 10 minutes…anytime we requested anything it was always brought to us right away. Excellent customer service. The only downside was the temperature in the rooms. When we arrived it was 72 degrees in the room. It was dry and hot in our room while it was chilly and snow on the hills outside. We turned the fan on high and the temperature down. We could hardly feel any circulation. It took at least 10 hours for the temperature to decrease to 67. When we turned the fan off the temperature rapidly increased to 73. We kept the fan on the lowest temperature possible for the next 4 days, 24/7. No fresh air gives me anxiety. Other than that everything was excellent and I would recommend this place to anyone, especially the rooms with a balcony that are visible in the picture above.

My husband and I just stayed here last week and we come here every year now for our anniversary because we love this hotel and it’s casino but this last trip we noticed their resort fees went all the way up to $45.20 a night which is fine except our bathroom looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a long time and all the glass cups were disgustingly dirty so we couldn’t use them at all. Our vent system had mold coming out from the ceiling and this was the first time I had a room with these issues. Our door looked like it had been kicked in and glued back together and the mini fridge did not work. The room was not great but we will still be back. Just really disappointed in the condition of the room.

I absolutely love staying here! The Tuscany tower rooms are so great for large family’s who are on vacation. You can get rooms next to each other that also have a door to shut to both of the rooms. The beds are so comfortable. The room is clean and has such awesome art. Huge bathrooms with a huge jacuzzi tub. They each have their own balcony over looking the pools.

Stayed in the Tuscan tower. The room was way beyond expectations. The room was immaculately clean and exquisitely furnished. The bathroom looked more like a studio apartment with the exception of the marble covering the bathroom, with walk in shower with 2 heads, his and her sinks with marble countertops and a vanity that spanned from wall to wall, jacuzzi bathtub that easily fit 2 adults and 2 small dogs. They even had room to fit a toilet in a small side room off of the main bathroom. The view overlooked the pool and spa area. Everything was very nicely done. Guest services are super friendly. My girlfriend had a job interview at 3 and they gave us a late checkout at 1 pm without hesitation. Was a very comfortable stay, the kind that you wish you didn't have to leave. I encourage others to find out firsthand. You won't be disappointed.

This casino/hotel has been around for years and looks very well maintained. What I found different in this beautiful casino is that there is a presence of helpful employees circulating in the gaming area. Have to also mention the CHAIRS, so comfortable & different from other casinos (ha, makes you want to stay & play). Also have mobility carts available for hotel guests and a parking garage. Hope to stay here next visit.

Beautiful property, elegant rooms. Food is very good but expensive, although it seems in.line with other nearby places. Great conference facility. Pros: A fantastic place to host a conference, eat a wide selection of amazing food, get a lovely selection of spa treatments, and gamble (if that's your thing).
Cons: It's a massive maze of a place, almost no outside green space, and it smells like cigarettes 😝 in many main areas.
Note: I'm not a gambling person, so the whole casino vibe is as alien to me as another (tobacco infused and flashy) planet.
I will say that the resort does a great job of air filtration because the cigarette smoke is not a serious issue.
My king room was well appointed and luxurious. The lights are BRIGHT on the side of the building so bring an eye mask if you're sensitive to light at night.
If you're an outdoors fan like me, there's plenty to see and do a short drive away. Lake Tahoe is ~ 30 minutes.
Overall impression: opulent and extravagant... it's a casino after all.
Service is top notch and the staff go out of their way to make you happy.

(It's hard to judge a hotel because it really depends on what type of hotels you are comparing it with. In this case I am comparing the Peppermill Casino to other casinos in the area). With that in mind, I would say that the Peppermill resort spa Casino is one of the best hotels in Reno, NV. They really put work and attention into training their employees to make the guests feel welcome. The spa is very good: it is distributed in 3 levels: one has a pool with a few hot tubs and the salon spaces, another level is what the treatment (massage, facials, etc) rooms are and another level with the fitting rooms, sauna, down room, hot tub, etc.

Not a bad stay, my room was actually quite nice, see the attached photos. This place is truly massive over 1600 rooms, my primary complaint is that we still allow smoking indoors. How is this still a thing. It pained me to wander through the casino. I did have a go in the High Roller room, not all that impressive.

Meh - the room was pretty standard. Nothing great, nothing terrible. Room service was prompt and decent. Check-in took a little bit - the kiosks weren't working. I opted to use the in-room checkout but didn't get the folio/invoice. I called less than two weeks later waited on hold for 15 minutes to be told that since it had been 'SO LONG' since my stay, I had to call back when their accounting department is available. I won't be recommending this for any of my colleagues traveling to our Reno location.

We stopped by to check out the casino and hotel overall and had lunch at the deli in the casino. Good food and fast service. The hotel is VERY nice, much better than the Silver Legacy. The casino area is massive and clean, has plenty of staff, feels safe, and has tons of light and massive screens with the most amazing landscapes circulating. Large pool area. This hotel feels like a Vegas hotel, not a throwback Reno hotel. The casino did get smoky as the day went along. Many restaurants and shopping within the casino. If we visit Reno again, we will definitely stay here vs The Row.

Good environment and good energy if you want a crowd that believes they're going to win. Hit a jackpot first thirty minutes of arriving so really didn't get to explore the whole place but overall it was the best casino so far I've been to in Reno. Not just because of the win but it was cleaner and had a more of a winner's vibe than the rest.

We took a lunch break. They have an assortment of electrolyte drinks, your sodas and bottled water. They also have prepackaged salads (I got the cobb for $12). They have meat and vegetarian chili, burgers, fries, chicken tenders, oranges and bananas from what I can remember.
With the package, you can ski until the park closes at 4p.
Our day was super gorgeous, and a fun one!

Mt. Rose is a great mountain! The lodge and rental area is very small, so it is easy to navigate and the mountain is suitable for all levels. It is very home-y and run by a great team of people that are helpful and nice. There are a wide variety of greens and blues on two of the ski lifts and a decent bit of blacks on the third ski lift. The runs are on the shorter side, I skied down a blue to the bottom in 4 minutes - however they are very fun blues. The lodge has a variety of vegan/ vegetarian options like vegan chili and wraps. They have great ski deals on certain days of the week - Thursday’s are half off for ladies during certain weeks in the season. In my opinion it would make for a great half ski day rather than a full if you are mid-level experienced.

Came here on March 15 and 16 2024 and skied all day both days. Prices are way better than the other mountains in the area and it wasn't crowded at all. I got there at 9am and was skiing by 9:30. Never waited more than a few minutes to get on a lift. They do $69 day passes for active duty (access for ALL lifts). Staff was super friendly and helpful. This was my first time skiing in almost 15 years, so I took a Next Step lesson and was able to pick it right back up. This place is great for people of all experience levels. Even the beginner slopes had plenty of variety. As someone who had never skied on the west coast before, I'm glad I found this mountain. Cannot beat the amazing views and the ease of accessing all the slopes.

Great ski experience! My family (kids and adults) learned ski here. Nice long runs for beginners to learn quickly. Kids lessons are very good. Coaches try to challenge kids so they improve fast. Coach Diane took our kids to blue runs for their first time and that really helped them.

There’s enough snow here to last all the way in the next December. However, they’re closing for the season on April 30. Seems like a waste, but people will have the other interests as the weather warms up. This is a popular ski resort with locals and tourists alike. With lots of runs when they’re able to keep them open.
The food in the lodge is pretty good and reasonable for a ski resort. If you plan on visiting Mount Rose, you better hurry.

KUDOS to the team at Mt Rose opened first in Tahoe while the big corporate owned mountains are slacking. Had a great time skiing early November with lake views.

I’ve been in many ski resorts in Tahoe but mt rose is a whole different animal, it provides all ski levels, parking isn’t not an issue unlike most of the other resorts, staff is very nice and friendly. For you little ones they have magic carpet where you can train young kids….its definitely worth it coming here….will probably bring my family next winter.

We had both of our kids (7 and 9) take their first lesson on skiing at Mt Rose at the end of 2021 (right after the HUGE snowstorm), and the instructors and employees there were fantastic! My boys loved learning to ski, and my youngest took his instructor’s advice to heart, and said, “I need to take another lesson.” My oldest said that he “got the basics down and didn’t need another lesson,” so we scheduled a second day.
While my youngest took his lesson, my oldest and I tried out the beginner terrain off the Wizard chair lift. My youngest was super jazzed after his lesson and joined us for a few runs. The beginner runs at Mt Rose are fantastic - we didn’t even get to try the lift that is halfway up the hill for more beginner trails. All of the employees on the magic carpet and beginner lift were so nice and helpful - they weren’t annoyed at all if you messed up getting on or off the lift.
My only issue was that they closed the lifts at 4pm (which I totally get since it gives you time to return your rentals before it gets dark). It’s a great deal if you take lessons in the morning because then, you have about 4 hours to do some runs. But if you do the 12:30 classes, you end at 3, so you only get an hour to do a couple of runs before closing time.
I can’t say enough about Mt Rose - such a great place. I hadn’t snowboarded in about 14 years, so all of the beginner terrain was great to help me get going again, and it was super fun for the kids! I highly recommend this place if your are just starting out!

This was a wonderful place for first-time skiers. We did the 2 day lesson "flight" pass. Both days, we were paired with amazing instructors who were very patient and helpful in their methods of instruction. I can not say enough good things about Ermano and Bruce. Chris also instructed my husband and younger son, who were more advanced and/or confident than I was after the 1st day. They really had a great time with him, too. The staff in the pro shop were also very helpful and patient with us in getting us all the necessary gear. I also think Cathleen was awesome at the Magic Carpet in helping ensure I always got on safely and giving pointers to make it easier for the next time. I look forward to coming back again!

Great local's area. Only a half hour drive if you live in South Reno like me. Hardly any lines (virtually none on weekdays). Highest base elevation in the area. But this is not a "resort destination" area as the dining options are basic and limited and there's not any sort of village or bar/dining at the top of the mountain. It's really a locals hill, or a place to go for visitors that want to avoid the crowds/lines at the other more popular areas in the Tahoe Region. My main gripe is their Season Pass, unlike the EPIC Pass, doesn't work at any other ski areas other than their own. If I were living in NW Reno I'd probably get the EPIC Pass and ski Northstar and then use it at other areas in Colorado, California and Utah.
This was a great season! Although as a Season Pass Holder at Mt. Rose, it's really disappointing for an area that their marketing slogan is how high their base elevation is compared to other resorts in the area, that even in a record snowfall year, the season has not been extended anywhere near as long as other lower elevation areas in the Sierra Nevada region have (some to July 4, they are ending on April 30! Are you kidding me?) I realize of course this is probably purely an economic decison to not extend the season to at least Memorial Day Weekend. But as a Business Owner myself, I'm honestly a bit surprised there's not some creative solution to create a win-win situation operating beyond April at least at some limited capacity.
Rumor has it since Mt. Rose is on BLM Land, their permit doesn't allow them to operate past April. If this is indeed the case, it's a little surprising in such as huge record snowfall year, their marketing department didn't at least send out an email to all the Season Pass Holders explaining this, or, negotiated a one-month extension with BLM considering the unique circumstances.

If you love skiing, but want a more "where the locals ski" experience, Mount Rose is the place to go. Mount Rose is much smaller and commercial than resorts like Heavenly or Northstar, but that doesn't mean that it feels small or cramped. This resort has a great variety of runs for beginners and seasoned skiers alike, and I love how friendly everyone seems to be here. The lines go by much faster, the runs are fairly long, and if you can handle going down intermediate runs, you can park in the back lot and literally park within stone's throw of a ski lift. While I still enjoy the larger resorts, this one will still be my go-to when I feel like relaxing at a resort that feels comfortable and homey.

Mount Rose is a mountain in the northern Sierra Nevada Range, located a few miles northeast of Lake Tahoe. It's the highest mountain in the Carson Range, which is on the east side of Lake Tahoe. Great for skiing. It's also the highest Nevada mountain in the Sierra Nevada Range.
Mount Rose is 10,779 feet above sea level. So you will be avle to go down various different types of hills. It's the second highest peak in the Lake Tahoe Basin, after Freel Peak.
Mount Rose is located 25 miles southwest of downtown Reno. It's also 11 miles northeast of Incline Village on the north shore of Lake Tahoe. Very easy ti get to from our place
The Mount Rose summit trail has one of the most diverse wildflower communities in the Tahoe Basin. The lower elevations are covered in sagebrush and grass, with white bark and lodge pole pine.
The Mount Rose hike is roughly 11 miles round trip, with a total elevation gain of 2,500 feet. Most people complete the hike in 6 hours.
Overall, its a great place for skiing. There are a lot of hills to go down, and it is very large.

First time trying skiing, and my husband on the snowboard, firstable the drive from South Lake is not too bad. It's very pretty. There is plenty of free parking, which is part of why we choose this place. Everyone is very helpful in getting your rentals, where to leave your stuff and just information in general. If you are a beginner, they have a great space for practice, I guess it is the kids' area, but it's very helpful. We went for the half day afternoon. It was enough time to try and wet on the lift a few times . I'll highly recommend getting a lesson!! it will make your life so much easier , we are very athletic and we really wished had signed up for the class. Anyway we had a lot of fun . Don't ask me about my tomorrow soreness 😂

20 mins away from Reno and the one of most community minded ski resorts in the area, provides a little bit of terrain for all different level skiers. You a beginner? They got you. Dare devil? Got some steep runs for you (weather permitting). Offers rentals of equipment & sales of personal ski/snowboard clothes (NO. They don't rent pants, coats, gloves, socks or goggles). Classes for kids are the best! Most of the parking lot is close to the hill so you won't have to take a bus, shuttle or anything, but it can be full during holidays.
You need to have a lift ticket and equipment to go on the lifts, there is no lift for sight seeing from the top.

As a local that lives in Reno, there's nothing better than a ski resort 25 min drive.
Yes, it's significantly smaller, but it's fun and gets lots of snow and it's the perfect getaway!

The facility is a little small but the employees are very friendly and kind. I recommend to arrive 7:45-8 if you want to rent the equipment.

Wanted to give Igor a special shoutout! He was amazing at showing us first timers how to ski. It was a busy day so they had stations with instructions but we got luck enough to catch Igor. When waiting for the 3rd station, he came up to us and had us join his group. He is very patient and encouraging. He got to know each one of us and customized one of the runs to one of our group members likes. HIGHLY recommend requesting him if given the chance !

Great place to learn skiing and snowboarding. Offers season pass and other options and is pricey. Has a restaurant inside the complex and a viewing deck to view the skiing. Has enough parking space.
Sand Harbor is a stunning and popular site at Lake Tahoe, offering swimming, boating, and open-air entertainment with breathtaking mountain views. The beach features pristine turquoise waters and a spacious sandy area for relaxation. Visitors can explore prehistoric rock formations and enjoy biking on the trails or hiking in the surrounding nature. Additionally, there are clean public bathrooms and a designated BBQ area for day use.
Gorgeous views, well maintained trail, so many photo ops. Entry is about $15 for non Nevada cars. And $10 for Nevada state cars. Super clean and super picturesque.
Dogs are allowed off-season (mid October to mid April)
We were in March and definitely layer up because it can be windy and cold.
Restrooms are available but be mindful that they were closed due to winter.

Sand Harbor Beach is an incredibly beautiful hidden gem just about 20 minutes outside of Lake Tahoe. You won't be disappointed if you go there. There is pristine clear Turquoise Waters with a sizable sandy Beach area to enjoy. There are Prehistoric looking Rock formations that you can climb on and take some really cool pics. There is ample room for Bicycling and several Nature trails for some hiking. There is a pretty cool BBQ area for some day use however this area must be reserved in advance. I highly recommend that any interested individuals go there, you will be pleasantly surprised. 😉👍👍

We spent several hours exploring the area by kayaks. It was a great time. Afterward, we hiked along the shoreline. It was a great day for adventure. The visitors center was closed, making it difficult to learn more about the state park. To see our adventures subscribe to SIMPLE LIFE BIG ADVENTURES on YouTube.

Amazing beach, lot of parking. It has 3-4 access points and the views of the beach are different from each access point. Also, don't forget the Ramada Point Rocks. Parking is $15 for CA registered vehicles and $10 for NV registered vehicles. There is a bar and grill (closes in evening) and restrooms nearby. The water here is the best turquoise color that can be seen in Lake Tahoe without hiking anywhere. No need to go anywhere else.

This state park is mind-blowingly beautiful. Sand Harbor is the main visitor area, with access to several beaches and rocks to swim from. There are also plenty of other spots further along the shore where you can park on the side of the road and hike down to the water, BUT you can't even get to these until the Sand Harbor traffic dies down. In peak season San Harbor gets mobbed with visitors, to the point that it shuts down the roadway in the morning with a line of cars waiting to enter Sand Harbor, thereby blocking thru traffic that is trying to get past Sand Harbor (no passing lane) until the park stops accepting more vehicles. I wouldn't say this should count against the park, but rather the fault of over population. Next time we visit we would stay in Incline Village and rent bicycles, it's a 5 mile ride along an incredibly beautiful public shore pathway, very well executed including paved stretches and brides over rockier portions.

Best beach on the lake! No question about it. Anytime of year. It's a state beach so expect to pay for entry but there is hiking and sandy beaches. Rocks to climb on. A Shakespearean festival sometimes. So picturesque.

Lake Tahoe has countless of beautiful beaches but Sand Harbor to me has to be the number 1 spot.
Beautiful, blue, calm water and lots of parking. Public Bathrooms are clean and spread out through out the harbor. We only bike north til the trail ends at the highway and boulder scrambling along the beach this trip but will be back this summer for kayaking and hiking.
Plan to spend the entire day here at least. It's totally worth it and you probably won't want to find other beaches to hop to

It’s been about 20 years since I’ve been to this beach, it’s always packed and for good reason! Large sandy beaches with a few separate little coves. The rocks are fun to climb and jump off of. Plus, there’s a place to buy food and snacks now! We love that new addition and the cashier was so helpful and sweet. Must visit but get there early or plan on taking a shuttle.

Nevada State Parks has really gone downhill. You now need to pay twice as much if you're from out of state. They have one vehicle entrance that charges $10 dollars, than another entrance that charges $2, for what looks like foot or bicycle entrance, but since you need to display your tag in your vehicle, how will they know you already paid for parking and were just hiking. In addition they threaten a $195 fee if you don't pay. I work for California State Parks and Nevada State Parks are definitely scamming people.
So, why is this place still getting 5 stars? Because, the tyranny of Nevada State Parks shouldn't take away from this place's natural beauty. I usually go to the California side, as the parking on the Nevada side is practically impossible to find during peak season, unless you get there at like 6 or 7 in the morning. I see why, as it is much more beautiful than the beaches on the California side. Personally, I wouldn't attempt to come here during peak season, but during low season, it's a completely different world. This is Lake Tahoe at its most raw!

We love this state park, off-season, that is. It can be quite crowded in the summer.
There is a nice boardwalk to wander with beautiful views of the lake and inlets. The large boulders in the water give it a unique charm.

This place! Took us a few trials and errors but we made it on the last day! Must get here by 8 am! Bring a sweater and set up your spot on the cove side. We walked around the boardwalk and warmed up. Being surrounded by the huge boulders and being able to jump off was so cool. The sand is so pretty and soft, it has a pink color. The views from the board walk looking down you could see just how aqua blue the water is. They have a restaurant with adult drinks, and lots of good food.

Great park for views, easy casual walking paths, the beach, and kayaking/paddle boarding. Entry fee cash only. Food and drinks available at store. Note for summer- by mid day it is very busy, parking fills up and they will close the parking lot and no walking into park allowed. Best to go in the morning or later afternoon/evening and hope the parking lot is open.

Great place to spend the day! I visited the week after Labor Day and it was not too busy- plenty of parking at 9am when I arrived (although I’ve read parking is crazy during summer months). Parking is $15 for non Nevada residents and $10 for Nevada residents. There is a great large beach with a volley ball net, kayak/paddle board rentals, and even a bar and restaurant within the park. The water is beautifully clear.

A beautiful 😍 park! A must see if you are in the area! If you go by car you are better off going to the Sand Harbour State Park, entrance was $15.00 USD and walk the trail which are made of asphalt so be careful when hot. There is a place where you can rent e-bikes and go through the trail. We walk but we didn’t the whole trail. The place for food and drinks closed by the end of October and reopen in May of the following year!

Beautiful state park- One of the most beautiful places you’ll ever see. Park is very clean and visitor center with restaurant are on the premises. Large parking lot, but beware as it can fill up by 9am. Beach rentals are towards the end of the beach. You could spend all day here and be just fine. There are a series of walking paths around the lake within the park. The pictures don’t do it justice: you’ve gotta go!
