The Chengyang Yongji Bridge, located approximately 18 kilometers north of Sanjiang, is a remarkable wooden bridge that dates back to 1912. It stands out among the over 100 wind-and-rain bridges in the area due to its grand size and intricate design. This picturesque black-and-white bridge spans about 78 meters and was constructed using cedar wood and stone over a period of twelve years during the early twentieth century.

The Longji or Dragon’s Backbone rice terraces were built over 500 years ago during the Ming Dynasty. The terrace fields are found in Longsheng about a two hours drive from Guilin. From a distance, during the growing season, these winding terraces appear as if they were green woven cables laid out over the hillsides, starting at the riverbank and ending near the mountaintop. Visitors can meander through the paddies and villages, greeting and being greeted by horses, pigs, chickens and hard working locals.

One of the best experiences I've ever had. Breathe taking views unlike anything I've ever seen before. Was fun especially because me and the wife started hiking up the terraces with our friends from the Wada hostel, and then eventually hiked a different path. We later found out our friend Yen took a great photo of us from a higher elevation than us. Bring a map with you as its easy to get lost. And may have only locals high in the terrace villages to give you direction which usually don't speak good English. Lots of beautiful views to see. Also the rice they heat up in a bamboo stick was surprisingly very good. Highly recommend coming here if you stop by Guilin!!

Reed Flute Cave, located just north of Guilin, is a dazzling system of water-eroded caves with various formations that can look like mythical creatures or other images. The cave's colorful artificial lights give it an added special effect and make it a popular tourist destination.
Rated a AAAA scenic site, this beautiful cave system filled with stalactites and stalagmites. The additional lighting makes the natural aspects look even more beautiful. It does get quite hot and crowded in the caves. The stairs do get quite steep and it does require a decent level of fitness to get through. Definitely worth the visit.

The Reed Flute Cave is a landmark and tourist attraction in Guilin, Guangxi, China.
The cave got its name from the type of reed growing outside, which can be made into flutes. Reed Flute Cave is filled with a large number of stalactites, stalagmites and other rock formations. Inside, there are more than 70 inscriptions written in ink, which can be dated back as far as 792 AD in the Tang dynasty. It was rediscovered in the 1940s by a group of refugees fleeing the Japanese troops. Nowadays, multicolored lighting artificially illuminates the cave. The Reed Flute Cave is filled with various stalactites and stalagmites, which are named according to what they look like and the legends surrounding them, Crystal Palace, Fish Tail Peak, and Dragon Pagoda. One giant stalactite is said to have been the magic spear of the Dragon King, used by the Monkey King Sun Wukong in the Chinese Buddhist classic, Journey to the West.
I got Anne a really nice egg / egg cup for her collection from here.

I came to Guilin and went to the Reed Flute Cave at the end of October 2018. When I arrived at the bus location, I had to park at the parking location located below. We can climb up on foot or take the train. The Reed Flute Cave is a cave that is formed naturally but requires a very long time. The view of the stone in the cave is given a very beautiful colorful lights. The air outside and inside the cave is very cool. We have to go up and down stairs to walk down the cave. Then prepare yourself and maybe be able to bring water in a bottle because the cave that must be passed is quite long. Inside also at certain times there is a short film projected onto the rock and very good. If we come there with a local guide, they can tell fairy tales about stones that can resemble several shapes.
Rajawali Robert — Google review
A nice experience. It's about a 30 minute slow walk through the cave. The air is cool and the floors are wet and slippery. Take your water bottle and wear good walking shoes. I went with a tour group and they had a short movie playing across the limestone walls/ceiling. There's also a photo booth within the cave where you can get your photo taken by the cave photographer and printed out. The cave guide spoke good English and pointed out limestones formed like snowman, Christmas trees, local vegetables, mushrooms, etc.

Elephant Trunk Hill in Guilin offers a serene escape with its picturesque surroundings. The natural beauty of the area provides a perfect backdrop for relaxation. However, be prepared for crowds, as the site attracts a significant number of tourists. Despite the bustling atmosphere, the iconic Elephant Trunk rock formation and the scenic Li River make it a must-visit. The blend of nature and cultural significance is truly captivating. Consider visiting during off-peak hours for a more tranquil experience and optimal photo opportunities. Overall, a delightful spot, but best enjoyed with patience amid the tourist hustle.

Elephant Hill Scenic Area is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Guilin. The name of this place is derived from rocky mountains that resemble the shape of an elephant, although it is not exactly 100% like an elephant but we can imagine the shape that approaches the shape of an elephant. Where these rocky elephants also have fairy tales, in short the elephant is an elephant from the Heavenly Kingdom who is said to have been a long time ago that the Emperor's Sky was coming down and playing to the city of Guilin. The Elephant was very fascinated by the beauty of the city of Guilin, so that when the Jade Emperor returned to its place, the Elephant remained on the earth and became an elephant-shaped stone. This place has a beautiful view with cool and fresh air in October. Lots of photo spots here. When you visit China and to the city of Guilin this place is one of the places to visit. If you like to shop on foot there is a shopping place close to this extraordinary place especially at night.

Used to come here often as a kid, but the scenery inside is not worth the entrance price. The highlight for me are the several hills inside the park that can be easily hiked for good views of the city, a hill shaped like a camel where Bill Clinton gave a speech, and a mosque and several modest Buddhist temples, but they may have renovated and gone commercial. Qixing Cave can be skipped if you see Reed Flute Cave.

Laozhai is a village located in the southwestern part of China, known for its traditional architecture and beautiful scenery. The village is characterized by narrow streets lined with old buildings made of wood and stone. Laozhai's unique culture and history make it a popular destination for tourists who want to experience traditional Chinese life. Visitors can explore local crafts such as weaving, embroidery, pottery-making, and carpentry.
Xingpingzhen, established in 265 A.D. under the Jin Dynasty and later relocated to Yangshuo during the Sui Dynasty in 590, has retained its status as the county town. Despite being under Guilin city's administrative jurisdiction, it has preserved its historical significance over the centuries.
The Yulong River, also known as the Dragon River, is an integral part of Yangshuo's charm. It offers a captivating spectacle for both local and international travelers and photographers. As you stroll along the riverbank, you will be enchanted by the unique Karst hills that resemble mushrooms, lush green bamboo forests, ancient bridges dating back centuries, and their exquisite reflections on the pristine water surface.
The path along the Yulong River is one of the nicest stretches of scenic beauty there is.

One of the more beautiful and well known places in Guilin. You can get a classic scenic look of the Guilin mountains and waters. Many will recommend getting a raft and a motor cycle to see the scenery which you can do but is not necessary. Some of the best views can be seen on the bridges.

I'll never travel to Guangzhou without this trip planner again
The vibrant Yangshuo Park provides running paths, a children's play area, landmarks, gathering spots, and scenic viewpoints. The early hours are ideal for escaping the heat and taking a peaceful stroll. It is also a prime time to witness elderly residents of Yangshuo engaging in the mesmerizing movements of southern-style tai chi. The panoramic view of the sunrise creeping over the mountains from the stone pagoda at the park's peak is awe-inspiring.
Great view and Scenery and everything seem to be so calm. We experienced A Sun Halo Phenomena while we were here.

Very average park and was under some construction when we were there. If you have time to spare the viewpoint is quite decent. Offers views of the town amongst the Karst mountains. Nice contrast of the integration between people and nature. Definitely better viewpoints to be found

The drive to get there was lovely through the Ten Mile Gallery. I rented an electric scooter and had an r easy time. Then purchased the 14 yuan ticket to hike to the top. The trail labeled "dresser" has a view of the hole, the "palace" takes you directly under the hole. It was a challenging hike, but worth the effort.

A unique hill with a hole in it. President Nixon visited this area in 1972 and he planted a tree which is now fully grown and it is very close to the top of the hill. I highly recommend visiting this marvelous area and also finding the tree that Nixon planted and reflecting on life.

Hike duration: 30 minutes up/ 20 minutes down
Hike difficulty: Easy - moderate
Views from the top: 10/10 AMAZING
Entrance fee: 14 yuan, paid at parking entrance
Accessibility: 8/10 - you will need to hire a car or bike from a nearby station to get here. A lot of private drivers go here, you may have to communicate in Mandarin to get the rates. I hired a car for the whole day from the main Yangshuo docks for 175 yuan (had 3 people group) and the driver was super nice and drove safely and actually gave recommendations on where to go/eat.
This site is about 15 min drive outside the main area of Yangshuo town, and there are not a lot of tourist sites nearby. Recommended to go on a sunny day, as steps can be slippery during rain.
Located in the famous Yangshuo tourist destination, the Tianlai Butterfly Spring is home to thousands of free-flying butterflies. The park is also known for its beautiful nature and stunning landscapes.
If you only come to see the giant butterfly you are missing out. There are so many tiny ones. Not to mention the amazing nature all around you.

No butterflies, small and almost fake cave. To cross the bridge you have to pay extra and then there are about ten shops you have to pass through but nothing else. Not recommended to visit, especially if you can't speak Chinese.

More multicolor lit up caves, meh. The performance was so-so. The outdoor grounds and view of the mountains, as well as the draw bridge, made up for the otherwise underwhelming experience.

(Translated by Google) Fatal. You pay 45 yuan per person, you can't see butterflies, the caves are very ugly decorated with colored lights and on top of that you have to pay for everything inside; If you want to go over a bridge, 10 yuan more, if you want to go down the slide, that many more. The views are not pretty at all, we were only able to take a more or less cool photo, but NOTHING IS WORTH IT.

Fatal. Huangyao Ancient Town is a stunning tourist attraction, consisting of both original ancient buildings and a newer section where the current population resides. It offers great photo opportunities and a chance to experience authentic local life with friendly locals in shops, restaurants, and guesthouses. The town has been restored while maintaining its truly ancient scenery, recognizable from the movie "The Painted Veil" which was filmed there.
At low season, the thousand year-old Huangyao ancient city stands quiet and relaxed in the provincial towns of Guangxi Province. The city is well-restored, providing tourists with myriad choices in heritage learning, coffee drinking, amazing scenery and plenty of local good food. The specialty of Huangyao is its fermented black bean, so be sure to get a steamed sparerib or fish dish at the restaurants. I enjoyed my dinner with river and mountain views, and was pleasantly surprised by the fireworks. The city exhibits an incredible sense of hospitality to its visitors. There are also plenty of choices in terms of accommodation inside the city itself. However, be prepared that getting here from hezhou will take time.
Helen Yu (Chestnut Journal) — Google review
Huangyao Ancient town is lives up to it's name; as ancient as ancient town goes.
Place:
There's quite a scenic and serene atmosphere, if you can look past the people trying to peddle you goods. The streets are photoworthy, goods are a-plenty (you're able to bargain if you'd like to) though it's quite stranded and you'd have to get out of your way to visit it; let's be fair, you're probably on a tour if you're reading this anyways.
Not too bad of a place to visit, would go again for the adorable cat that we met along the way.

(Translated by Google) The scenic spot still retains the atmosphere of an ancient town, and residents still live inside. There is an ancient stage outside the scenic spot, which was where opera was performed in the past.
Entering the scenic area, you can first see the inscriptions from the Qianlong period and a spectacular dragon-clawed banyan tree. The growth of the banyan tree looks like a dragon-clawed canopy, which is very interesting.
The scenery in the ancient town is very historical, and the humanities and history inside are a good place worth visiting.

From Guangzhou South Railway Station to Hezhou (high-speed rail RMB 97), transfer to bus (RMB 30) or shuttle bus (around RMB 40-50) to the ancient town. It took more than 3-4 hours. It takes about 6-8 minutes to walk from the bus station to the ancient town. There are many entrances to the ancient town, and there are ticket inspectors standing guard at each entrance to check tickets.
Store owners usually recommend arriving after 6:30 p.m. to save RMB 100 on tickets. Basically, there will be less ticket checking after entering the ancient town if you have not left the ancient town. If you are checked, you are very lucky. But consumption in the city is higher. You can wait until evening time to head out of town for dinner. There are many delicious restaurants and snacks outside the city.
