Best stops along Chongqing to Suzhou drive
The top stops along the way from Chongqing to Suzhou (with short detours) are Zhangjiajie National Forest Park, Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum, and Yellow Crane Tower. Other popular stops include Shouxi Hu, China Dinosaurs Park, and Grand Buddha at Ling Shan.
Zhangjiajie National Forest Park is a must-see destination for nature lovers. The park features a breathtaking cliff-hanging walkway and glass skywalk, situated at an altitude of 1,400 meters on Tianmen mountain's side. Although the Glass Bridge is not easily accessible, it's worth the trip to experience its stunning beauty. Visitors can take a bus from the bottom of the mountain or drive there independently by car.
Absolute highlight of our trip to China. Although it's all part of the same park, the different regions of the park look different from each other in terms of the landscaping. As others have noted - the signage isn't great. The most helpful thing to keep in mind is there are two "levels" to the park. The ground floor trails, and the top floor trails. And then technically there are trails that connect the ground and top floor. I definitely recommend taking the lifts, it's not worth your precious time and energy to hike up. The main highlights are pretty easy walking, the reason you'll sweat will be because of the heat, not because of the trail difficulty. Food is a little rough - there are several McDonalds on top of the mountains! There are lots of vendors along the trails selling bottled water, snacks, etc. They won't bother you at all, and we bought from them several times. A good amount of restrooms on the trail. I liked the Yuanjiajie Scenic area, Golden Whip Stream, and Yellow Village Scenic Area. I would stay away from Tianzi Scenic area and Yangjiajie scenic area. The trails were more difficult in those sections, and the scenery wasn't as good. You'll have a great time!!

Amazing place !
Used for AVATAR's movie and we understand why.
The beauty of this place is AMAZING.
The park is so huge that you can buy a multi days pass. That I Highly recommand!
There are so many spot to see, you'll even be able to see monkeys.
In this park, you will walk a lot, like all day long just to visit part of it.
There are a lot of stairs, so prepare your legs cause you're gonna be in pain but it's worth it.
Unforgettable memories
Take water as well, it is hot & wet.

A stunning, breathtaking and awe-inspiring place. The inspiration for Pandora in the Avatar movie. An absolute must-see. The best time to see will be in early winter as the place will appear mythical and magical in the mist. The park comprised of dense forests, deep ravines, deep canyons, unusual peaks, caves, and pillar-like rock formations blanketed throughout the park. These pillar rock formations are what the park is renowned for around the world.

Very beautiful, especially when the canyon is full of mist and cloud. Make sure to wear hiking shoes since the floor is very wet and dangerous.

迷魂台 is a must go when you vist zjj national forest. It is where Avatar movie is shot. The view is breathtaking. Very spectacular and enchanting. Love every minute of it when i was there. The last video is taken from inside of the 百龙天梯. Totally love the view and experience!

The avatar mountain are worth the visit. If you love nature then it's a must visit.
Remember its not very easy accessible to get to glass Bridge. You'll have to take a bus from the bottom of the mountain. If you have a car it's better.
Pros : Beauty at its best.
Cons : you have to pay for everything and it's a little pricy.
Fouzan Parkar — Google review
Absolutely incredible. Walking in, you pass between the stone formations towering above you. After a climb (or an expensive elevator) you get to a region of the park with views to this stunning natural phenomenon all around. This park is huge, take more than one day to explore this place. There are lodging options inside the park, even budget friendly ones.
Dan H. — Google review
Easy and nice hikes, no need to take cable cars or the elevator. I would recommend to spend at least three full days here to cover the whole area. It's crucial to start in the early morning to escape the tourist masses ;)
If you decided to hike instead of taking the cable cars, you are mostly alone, but the main spots are pretty crowded. You can have equally good views just a bit of the track, so there is no point in waiting in line to get a picture from the spots which are close to the cable car stations.
Orientation is easy, signs are everywhere

Zhangjiajie, majestic natural forest, cable car experience, Taking the cable car and seeing everything from above will be a great experience for you. I tried it and went on the bridge too. There are only 2 words to say about this place, Majestic, Natural. Guys guys

Quite amazing landscapes to tour around. Some scenes from the movie Avatar was shoot from here. Take the cable car to look down the breathtaking view. Put your walking shoes on, because it might take you a day to tour whole park.

Well worth a visit if you want to get away from busy cities in China! English/Australian couple touring China, we travelled to Zhangjiajie airport and got a transfer to our accommodation (Purespace) located a short walk to the Zimugang entrance to the National Park. This entrance is quieter than the main South Entrance. Tickets last 4 days from purchase, and buses take you round the park. We found that the buses work in a hop on-hop off fashion (I.e. you can’t stay on one bus all the way round). We recommend taking a photo of the Chinese spelling of the entrance / exit so that you can show park employees (very minimal English is spoken!).
We love the outdoors and hiking, and quickly learnt that you can avoid crowds of local tourists by walking deeper into the park. Our 2 day itinerary we discovered which we loved:
Day 1) From Zimugang gate, get the bus to the Bialong Elevator (don’t even bother taking it - it’s crowded and you have to pay extra!), then hop on the bus back to Golden Whip stream (the stop between Zimugang and Bialong). From here, walk along the stream until you get to a staircase on the right. This is up to Avatar mountain, a long walk but worth it! No tourists, saw lots of wildlife (including monkeys) and amazing views at the top. There are ways (buses/walking) back down but we were funnelled into the elevator which we had to pay for. It wasn’t worth it, crowded and too fast to take in scenery!
Day 2) We got to Zimugang gate at 8:45am - no tourists there! We took the bus to Golden Whip and then hopped on the bus to Ten Mile Gallery. Beautiful scenery (despite the tram running along the path for the first 1.5km!) After then, you walk up the stairs for about 2 hours until you get to a McDonalds (!) at the base of the Tianzi pavilion. We didn’t see a single person on the stairs, it was peaceful and so atmospheric. From the road at the top, we took the bus to the cable car and took that down the mountain which I highly recommend! From there we got the bus back to 10 mile gallery - Golden Whip - Zimugang.
We didn’t do the tourist spots like the Stairway to Heaven (Tianzi mountain), nor the glass bottomed bridge… and we don’t regret it!

Unforgettable experience. This is one of the top 5 national forest park in 🇨🇳. The view of the pillar mountains are magnificent, it is no comparison to any wonders you have seen from this planet. If you ever go to blue mountain in NSW 🇦🇺, it will make blue mountain looks like a dwarf, it's like comparing the 3 sisters ⛰️ to a thousand sisters ⛰️. If you have a chance, be sure to put in your 🪣 list.

The absolute highlight of our China trip! You really have the feeling to be in the Avatar Movie
Great walks and amazing scenery. Once in the Park you can hike many trails or catch the free buses to navigate the Park. Easy to spend 3 days exploring.
The tickets you buy for about 60$ is valid for 3 days.

Really cold in winter. be careful on slippery floor. But great sightseeing location.
There is an elevator and cablecar. If come down late you have to wait a bus for while in a cold weather.

Definitely one of the highlights and must-visit touristy place of our 8D6N Zhangjiajie tour in March 2024.

Huge complex of mountains where you will have to travel by shuttle buses, cable car, even take a lift high as Eifel Tower :-) The mountains are breathtaking and unforgettable. Thanks to Avatar movies it gets more popular and I think that’s a good thing, otherwise I think we will maybe not have visited this place and it will be a mistake. If you are not sure to come because it’s maybe far, you definitely should come, it’s worthy to travel here. The tickets are for 4 days. We only have 1,5 day and still worthy, worthy, worthy :-)

Wow, this place is magical. The scenery is on another, if you really wanna enjoy this place I recommend not taking cable car and elevator, walk everywhere. The crowds thin out when walking deeper inside. And that's when you can really take it slow and enjoy this place. Because the main spots are way too crowded and you'll get overwhelmed by local tour groups. Also great organisation by the staff to take us to and back from the bus.
Wu Ling Yuan Feng Jing Ming Sheng Qu, also known as the Wulingyuan Scenic Area, is a breathtaking UNESCO World Heritage site in China. This natural wonderland is famous for its towering quartzite sandstone pillars, lush forests, and deep ravines. Visitors can explore the area's stunning landscapes, including the awe-inspiring Avatar Hallelujah Mountain and the beautiful Golden Whip Stream.
Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon is a stunning geological formation that boasts the world's longest and highest glass bridge, providing visitors with panoramic views of the surrounding valley, mountains, rocks, and waterfalls. To reach the bridge from the other side of the mountain, visitors must walk down into the valley and then hike up to their destination. An elevator can help save some steps, but hiking is still required.
One of the highlights of our Zhangjiajie Tour. Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon is famous for its Glass Bridge, which is the longest and highest outdoor glass bridge in the World.
Stunning landscape and scenery on both sides of the Grand Canyon.
Weather in early March is pretty cold, but it gets warm and sunny in the afternoon.

Place is nice, probably a bit overrated. Endless checkpoints are really annoying (like everywhere in China), it is just a bridge, not the Fort Knox

Grand Canyon and the Giant glass bridge, 大峡谷,玻璃桥。The trial is, we need to walk down the valley and cross the bridge from the other side of the mountain. along the way you can see all the amazing valley, mountains, rocks and a waterfall which flow out from the middle of the rock mountain. On the way of walking up, there is a elevator that help you to saved a few steps, but generally you still need to do a lot of hiking. When you are on the top of the mountain, the giant glass bridge is waiting for you, u need to cross the bridge go back to the main building complex. Enjoy the scary moment and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Grand Canyon.

A must-see. Most people visit this place to walk on the glass bridge, but it has a lot more to offer. The glass bridge itself is interestingly built, using big glass plates. However, since many people have walked on them, their transparency is a bit lower than expected. Do take the time to visit the grand canyon as well. It showcases nice extremely blue rivers, special fauna and has some typically Chinese extra's, such as a slide, a death ride (both for 30 yuan pp) and a free boat ride. Worth the time.
Cedric Bru — Google review
Good views from the glass bridge, although it's not entirely glass, only glass pieces within the metal bridge. The bridge is not as scary as it seems, people just made a big deal about it. Just walk through it! Hugeeeeee crowds even though it's not peak season, you won't be able to get a picture without people in the background. Walking sticks or huge-sized cameras are not allowed.
Real challenge comes when walking the 1680 stairs down to the canyon. Not recommended for people who're not physically fit in case your legs go weak.
The walk along the river is easy with walking paths nicely laid. Get prepared with umbrella or raincoats as you'll get wet while walking along the river due to multiple waterfalls along.
A boat ride to end the visit to the grand canyon. Mountain/canyon view is good too.
Recommended to visit once in your lifetime for the magnificent views despite of the never ending crowds.
Jeen Ching — Google review
If you want to know whether you are afraid of height or no, then you should try this one haha. The bridge connected two-top of the hills, but the glass is only placed in the mid section of the bridge hehe.
It's quite entertaining, as it is the first for me to step on this glass bridge. It sometimes can be too crowded, but managed to take photos on some of the glasses when not many ppl ard haha.
You need to buy the ticket at least one day in advance, and you need to enter at the allocated time. If not, your ticket will be gone. Just bring some essential things, no DSLR, no mirrorless. Or you need to put this on the storage room, and get this back when you finished (the entrance and the exit is on a two different area).
After glass bridge, theres also a trekking at the Zhangjiajie grand canyon (optional)

This is the largest Power Plant in the world with an installed capacity of 22,500 MW. There are 32 number of 700 MW turbines. The Dam is constructed across Yangtze River and the total relocation was around 20 million. Everything about this power plant is enormous. This is a modern wonder of mankind. The water capacity and everything about this power plant is so huge. This has been rejected by many construction companies considering the impact it creates. But at last China could do it on their own. The ship transferring canal too is one of the man made wonders.

Impressive to see the world's largest dam. In my view there's no need to buy any of the short ship tours nearby. The entrance fee will shuttle you by bus from viewpoint to viewpoint. When I visited it was winter, so the smog/fog mix certainly obstructed the view. Nevertheless the project is very impressive and the viewpoints well-chosen and decorated.

This hydropower dam in the mainstem of the Yangtze river is a disaster for people and wildlife. It is altering the flow and the hydro morphology of the river, hence creating problems with water availability downstream. It has the potential to decrease the fish stock and creating environmental and water quality problems and the extinction of fish species and river dolphins.
Herman Wanningen — Google review
This dam was the only reason I came to Yichang, and I must say it was worth the trip. Despite the controversy surrounding its construction, the structure is doubtlessly a feat of engineering brilliance. There are almost no Western tourists visiting the dam, so if you decide to go here you'll most certainly be the first among your friends.

This is where Zhuge Liang lived in seclusion for ten years before leaving the mountains, and it is also where Liu Bei visited the thatched cottage three times. Stepping into Longzhong, the first thing that catches your eye is the large stone archway built during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty. On one side of the archway is engraved a famous line from Du Fu's "The Prime Minister of Shu": Three visits frequently make plans for the world, and two dynasties open up the hearts of veterans. On the back are engraved the five characters "Three Generations Next". In memory of Zhuge Liang, he was praised by later generations as the most outstanding figure after Xia, Shang and Zhou Dynasties. In the scenic area, there are also "Ten Scenic Spots in Longzhong" built by later generations because of their admiration for Zhuge Liang. If you go to Gurungzhong, it is recommended to watch "Thatched Cottage Theater". This is the first live-action drama performed in the form of thatched cottage in China, including three scenes including "Longzhong Duo", "The Song of the Ugly Wife" and "Red Cliff Ode".

This tower was destroyed a bunch of times and rebuilt to the point where there is an elevator inside the tower. Nonetheless, it is very aesthetically pleasing. It's a big campus so is room to wander. Inside the tower has a lack of English signage though so you may want to get a guide (available after entering the campus).

This was one of the highlights of my trip to Wuhan. Such a historical place and the surrounding park reflecting its rich history.
Be warned, in the humid conditions of late summer, it can be quite an arduous trek and climbing up the tower itself with crowds of people can be challenging. But to reach the fifth floor of the tower is an achievement and the breathtaking views of the city are unforgettable.
Bonus: they sell ice cream in the shape of the tower.

An interesting historical site. Many of the structures appear to have been rebuilt but they are well perserved. There is also a nice view of the city from the upper floors of the tower.

A wonderful place to visit in Wuhan. The tower has been rebuilt many times. Although there is easy access by public transportation, I recommend to take a taxi which is pretty inexpensive. The ticket costs RMB 70, and gives access to the entire area that contains the tower. There is even a collection of different stones and gems in one of the building as well as different pavilions and fountains. On the top of the hill there is a big bell. The tower is equipped with an elevator for the elderly. Recommended.

Visited this with my boyfriend while staying with him. Very beautiful landscaping and scenery. Make sure to wear something comfortable, walking shoes, and bring water. Be prepared for quite a bit of steps to get to the top of the Yellow Tower. Can be a workout for those who's not used to it! The view is worth it though!

Hubei Provincial Museum, established in 1953, is a large museum with an impressive collection of around 200,000 historical and cultural artifacts.
All I can say is wow! The overall layout of Hubei Provincial Museum reflects the construction model and characteristics of Chu State (a state in the Spring and Autumn Period (770BC-476BC)). It is amazing to see what kind of technology that they had even before Christ was born. The tomb of Marquis was simply impressive. How well preserved it was as well as all of the artifacts that were buried. He was the 9th emperor of the Han dynasty. There are many photos showing how they excavated the tomb and parts which were completely under water. The majority of the works lost wax technique. It is hard to imagine that they could make such detailed bronze statuary. The museum is split into three parts: the comprehensive exhibition hall, the Chu Culture Exhibition Hall and the Chime Bell Exhibition Hall. The bells were so impressive. There was a small display in a corner where you could simulate the bells tones just by pressing a key on a keyboard. Depending on where the bell was hit was a different tone.

One of the most disappointing museums I’ve visited. The English descriptions were choppy and didn’t paint a comprehensive narrative of the Chu state. Wikipedia does a better job of summarizing their exhibitions. The audio guide you can rent - I DO NOT RECOMMEND. You pay 30 RMB for it and there’s only about 20 descriptions for items in the entire museum. Although the museum is free to enter, truly you don’t get anything out of the experience.

A gorgeous place to spend at least three hours on. A concise exhibit that showcases what Hubei is known for. Go for the souvenirs, the bookmarks and nick nacks are very affordable.

Here keeps Chime Bells which is the largest bronze musical instrument discovered so far, as well as the sword of Zhou Juan, the king of the Yue State in the Spring and Autumn Period, who is very well-known to Chinese people.

Expansive museum with a trove of valuable collections. Including some extremely significant items.
Nicely organized, beautifully presented and with beautiful fitting architecture, there were also some activities that could be booked for an additional charge, such as a historical musical program.
Definitely worth the price of admission.

Dong Lake is a beautiful and serene lake located in the Hubei Provincial Museum scenic area. The surrounding environment is lush and green, perfect for spending a day outdoors. The lake's water is crystal clear, making it ideal for swimming, fishing, or simply enjoying the views. There are several hiking trails available nearby, including a short but steep ascent to the summit of Mo Hill. Dong Lake is a great place to relax and rejuvenate after a busy day outdoors.

I was impressed by the park and its lake - although its in the city, area is big and green, you feel yourself relaxed, surraunded by nature, dufferent trees, sculptures, chinees temples, small boads floating in water. You can find many benches, as well as cafes and playgrounds for kids. Dont expect, that you see whole park in 1 day - for that you need to rent a bicycle and be fit :) also you may rent a boat (price is fixed for all of them and depends on the distance) to see spectacular vies from the lake side. The park has differently designed areas, for example, traditional chinees garden, modern sculpture park, west plams trees garden and many others. For me the most exciting was walking down the sidewalk, where water is at the both sides.

Very nice place to have a 1 hour normal boat ride through the lake to Mulan mountain.
Tianzhu Shan is a stunning national park with mountainous terrain that resembles Chinese paintings. The hike to the top is challenging and lengthy, but the scenery along the way and at the peak is breathtaking. Although there is another higher peak beyond, some may choose not to continue due to its distance. The foggy mist at the top adds an extra layer of beauty to this picturesque location. Overall, Tianzhu Shan offers unparalleled natural beauty for those willing to take on its trails.
Extremely beautiful mountain national park area that looks just like the Chinese paintings! The hike is pretty long and strenuous and once you’re at the top it turns out there’s another six hours to get to an even higher peak which I didn’t do. The scenery at the top and all the way along the hike is pretty spectacular. I also really liked the cloudy foggy misty feeling at the top.
Jiuhua Shan is an exquisite destination with a towering mountain peak adorned by numerous temples, making it a sacred pilgrimage site for Buddhists. The scenic area is known for its stunning natural beauty and diverse range of flora and fauna. Visitors can immerse themselves in the tranquility of the surroundings while exploring the extensive network of trails that lead to various shrines and monasteries scattered throughout the region.

Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders
The Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders is a somber museum that commemorates the tragic events of the 1937 Nanjing Massacre. This memorial was built to honor over 300,000 victims who were slaughtered during this dark period in history. The exhibits include artifacts from the era such as weapons, eyewitness testimony, and photographs, documenting the horrors of the massacre.
A solemn ceremonial and historical place for this sad tragic history. It gets emotional since watched the movie: John Rabe, and indeed the good deeds by the few symbolize the greatness in humankind when all seems doom, carrying the spirit forward whenever the call of duty rises.
Pre-registration is required, bring passport/ID as well. Spent approx 3 hours going into details.
Clement Leong — Google review
It's a farce that this place is ranked the #1 attraction on tripadvisor for Nanjing. The museum is of fairly modern construction, and its subject solemn and poignant. That said, there is no way this should be more than a minor stop, when there are so many better places to visit in Nanjing: Xuan Wu Lake Park, the Presidential Palace, the Imperial Tombs of the Ming Dynasty, Sun Yat-Sen's Mausoleum, the old city walls, Zhong Hua Gate park, Nanjing Museum, and more.

A must visit Museum when you visit Nanjing, a recent memory shared amongst the people in remembrance of atrocities committed to the people of Nanjing.
As you walk in you can see the frames of most victims of the Nanjing Massacre and also those whom had survived and still live on with the memories.
You need to book in advance (Free) but recommend to donate some money when you enter. *Foreigners will require a Passport to enter*.
It is truly a sad place, the museum is very detailed with many monuments, pictures and archives exhibited for people to see.

It's really a sad place, honestly.
Besides the true pictures taken then, there are real dead bodies and bones buried here.

We were not able to enter the main Memorial Hall as we did not realise that advance booking was required. When we tried to book using the QR code provided near the entrance, the Memorial Hall was already fully subscribed. However, we managed to book entry into the Hall of the Three Victories and the hall commemorating the comfort women. We spent all our time in the Hall of Three Victories. It is very educational, even for those who do not read Mandarin. A solemn reminder of the evils of war. May we never forget what horrors can be inflicted upon the world by materialism, covetousness, and hubris.

This is my second time visit and this time with my mom who was born a few years later after the massacre. As a Chinese citizen we've basically all gained quite some knowledge via media while the actual visit here is still truly, profoundly heartbreaking and shocking.
Besides the historical value, the hall itself is well designed, offering a holistic experience with some interactive sessions too. We listened to the tutorial audio along the way and that's quite helpful.
Its almost hard for our generation to relate as we now in a different age but those suffering times should never be forgotten. 🕊️ 🙏 🇨🇳

To better understand a significant and very tragic event in history, it's definitely worth a visit. Ensure you book in advance online. The site of the Nanjing Confucius Temple; this is a center of Chinese national culture. On the banks of the Qinhuai River, you are able to take river boats from here or even an old fashioned rickshaw ride if you should like. You will be greeted with the prevalent effervescence of Chou Do Fu! as you traverse the multitudes of unique curious shops and arts vendors; hand hammered jewelry, hand pulled confections, and tasty delights which you possibly may have not seen before. Spend the day here and you will find interesting antiques and unique food markets in the vicinity as well. A worthwhile destination.

It is a famous tourist destination in Nanjing, so it is recommended as a must-visit place if you come to Nanjing.
It would be nice to look around along the stream in the center, and if you didn't eat, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a leisurely meal at a restaurant adjacent to the stream and enjoy the atmosphere. Most of the shops around sell tourist products, so I didn't have any unusual experiences. There is also a tourist course where you can take a boat along the nearby stream, but I recommend taking it in the evening rather than during the day. It was nice to have a bit of a Hoi An feel in Da Nang, Vietnam.

Dr. Sun Yat-sen's Mausoleum is a grand and ornately designed complex located in Nanjing, China. The mausoleum pays tribute to Dr. Sun Yat-sen, one of the founders of modern China. The site features a steep staircase leading to the impressive structure, which was developed between 1926 and 1929. The picturesque region symbolizes Dr. Sun Yat-sen's dedication to the Chinese people and their struggle for independence.

Jinshan Temple is a well-known religious site established during the Jin Dynasty that offers tours of meditation halls, towers, and pagodas. Despite being less developed than other temples in China, it still carries significant historical significance and is worth exploring. It has been commercialized with various goods and souvenirs available for purchase, although some may be of poor quality. Visitors should note that tickets are expensive and plan accordingly to ensure they can afford the full experience.

Amazing chinese southern style garden. It has so many details of nature and buildings. Also the interior of ancient house is something to watch

Ge Garden is an amazing treasure in the heart of a historical city. To understand the Chinese culture and language is to understand almost everything you see here. Understanding the gardens is a major component of this. I recommend a guide.
The 4 hills and the bamboo variety is one of a kind.

Decently interesting garden/park with some cool history and architecture from the Ming Dynasty. It's super pretty with different types of bamboo and flowers everywhere, but very crowded in the summer (especially). Known for it's Four Seasons Mountains, which are big rockery builds in each of the corners of the garden which mirror the four seasons.

I'll never travel to Suzhou without this trip planner again
Hangzhou Safari Park, located in Hangzhou, China, is a popular destination for families. The park offers an opportunity to enjoy the countryside while learning about science and ecology. Visitors can witness a harmonious atmosphere between people and animals, fostering a return to nature. Although some find the park's size comparable to an ordinary zoo, it still provides an enjoyable experience with its highlight being the quality theater performance featuring impressive acrobatics.
So many mindless white trxsh in the reviews trying to make China look bad, typical.
Complain about your own country's animal abuse, no matter if it's happening or not here, won't be worse than yours.
By the way Joe Isbill, learn how to spell, it's "deluded". Hard to believe somebody is calling others that being this delusional 💀💀💀

Visited several times and didn’t see anyone whipping the animals. Staff treat the animals with respect and baby animals are so cute
Rosa Tu — Google review
During my 5 hour visit on a weekday, I did not see any animal abuse whatsoever, in contrary to the reviews. In fact, the zookeepers were nice and playful with the animals. Although some enclosures could be renovated, most of the enclosures are spacious and fitting for the animals. On weekdays, there are little to no people, so rides and animal enclosures are virtually private. Very suitable for young children, would recommend.

very rubbish, all animals there look so starving and not healthy! Very very rubbisj

I know this isn't the kind of place to respond to, but this is specifically to Atlantic 31, because they don't seem to understand the concept of free speech and actual racism. But then again calling us "white trash" really shows what kind of person you are.
Nobody here is trying to make China look bad. We're just saying what we see. If anything, the park is making China look bad. Especially with China's animal abuse problem. And before you even try to say it, not everybody calling China's animal abuse out, actually think it's the citizen's fault.
From what I've read, many people in China genuinely care about animal rights. And want animals to be treated better. However, the Chinese Government's refusal to grant more protection to animals allows more animal abuse to be practiced freely and without shame. And of course, not everybody is able to realize what is abuse at first glance.
Also you can't dictate what kind of animal abuse people talk about. Just because the abuse happens in a different country, doesn't make it automatically okay. Culture and tradition shouldn't be considered moral at the expense of others. Animal circuses aren't even a part of Chinese culture. You're obviously defending this place out of your own bias.
Also you're dunking on people's spelling when you have grammar errors yourself. Mister "Somebody is calling others that being this delusional" ;)
As for the Hangzhou Safari Park itself, not much to say about it. The other reviews said it for me, but a small summary, the park was caught whipping their tigers, news agency reviews park, park owner denies the whipping was abuse. The park's enclosures are poor and not kept in good condition. Then, their leopards escape, and because China's economy was bad at the time, and it was the holiday, the park hid the escape from the public to keep sales. Also they have white tigers which are commonly associated with animal trafficking and are inbred to stay white.
Overall, an abusive, poorly kept, exploitive, endangering, greedy, and irresponsible park. Definitely don't go, it won't be worth your time.

It’s a good place to learn your animals from ,but please feed the animals especially the big cats.

Please stop the cruelty to animals! The horrible footage of beating a white tiger so that it performs a stupid trick for tourists is all over the world. These are magnificent and rare animals that deserve a better life. Don't go to this park if you love animals
Jacqui G — Google review
I read a lot about animal cruelty in this place. I have not seen it during my three hour visit. Many Tigers and Lions in comfortable areas. Includes giant panda. Would recommend. Was unable to buy food...
Thomas L. — Google review
Never been here don't want to. However, seen the video of them using a whip on the tigers. These are wild animals who belong in their natural habitat, NOT doing tricks for human entertainment! Just confirms China's appalling record for animal abuse!
Lyn Green — Google review
If a “safari” park with a animal circus isn’t animal cruelty anyone who thinks it’s ok is deludied. Let me guess it has “medical” properties just like killing critically endangered species. Not sure not being able to find food is the biggest problem, need to re-evaluate your life.

Lost 3 of their Leopards and "forgot" to tell the public.
After the police got calls about Leopard sightings, they lied about the escape and told the police, no Leopards were missing.. Only 2 Weeks later they announced the escape...clearly not the people you want to lead a "Safari Park".

Grand Buddha at Ling Shan is a remarkable park in China that boasts an enormous 88-meter tall Buddha statue, a magnificent palace, a temple and cultural shows. It is an exceptional location to experience absolute tranquility and peacefulness. The drive towards the park is breathtakingly beautiful, making it essential to take a cab. This spot offers stunning views of the beauty of China and is considered one of the most calming places in Wuxi.
A very tall Buddha statue standing at 88 meters in WuXi, you can actually see it from far away! This place is totally huge, I’d recommend using the cart service if you’re together with elderly. You will be amazed how big it is when you’re closer. You can enter the statue to touch the statue feet as well, though the waiting may vary depending on traffic.
They also got other areas such as the singing fountain that opens up on specific hours with all the beautiful water fountain and music accompanying a show.
Another one is a huge Russian castle that has such amazing art inside the area. I believe some of the rooms inside may be available for a big event as well.
Overall, a great and entertaining trip for 4 to 6 hours or more if you decide to eat in the castle.
Andre Bastary — Google review
Can’t rank this among the best Buddha temple in Asia — especially when visitors could smoke inside the area, drivers of shuttle trailers were allowed to honk, and tour guides could lead tours with speakers. All these distractions affect clarity and purity usually accompanying a typical zen experience.

The Grand Buddha is impressive and majestic; yet exudes a sense of peace, calm and tranquility. It is located on the north shore of Lake Tai, near Wuxi, Jiangsu. Standing at Standing at 88 metres, it is the largest bronze Buddha in the world and one of the largest Buddha statues in China and also in the world.
CK Cheong — Google review
Probably the most famous sightseeing place for tourists in Wuxi. Several attractions here and some are time specific so check out their website and take note of performance times.
Do yourself a favour and buy a complete route transportation ticket because the park is huge and wasting time walking may result in you queuing up or missing the shows.
Expect huge crowds even during weekdays and do plan to have a vegetarian lunch (not free or part of ticket).

Taihu Yuantouzhu Scenic Area, also known as Southeast Gate 1, is a popular tourist destination due to its stunning natural beauty and religious significance. The area features the impressive 88-meter-tall Sakyamuni Buddha statue, made of bronze and named the Lingshan Grand Buddha. Visitors can enjoy picturesque views of the lake and surrounding landscapes, making it an ideal spot for photography.
