Hide Tide provides coffee here every day from 6:30 am to 12pm. Amazing facilities and great beach for swimming or surfing.
I wish the toilets had soap. Isn't it the one thing we had learnt from the pandemic. Come on NSW.
The walking trail is amazing and I like taking advantage of the snorkeling when possible.
Today we scuba dove from the East end of the parking lot towards the headland. It was amazing and full of fish life.

Easy to find and get to, with a generous amount of parking. This is a great scenic lookout, giving a fantastic view of the coast, complete with seagulls flying about. Worth the visit.

Short Point Recreation Reserve is an excellent choice for anyone who appreciates the beauty of nature, peace, and the view of the sea. When I visited last week, I was immediately captivated by the panoramic views. The walking paths are perfect for long, relaxing strolls surrounded by greenery, providing a sense of tranquility and connection with nature.
Nearby, there's a campsite offering a chance for an unforgettable camping experience under the stars, far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The path to the beach is a special experience, as it leads past a stream, adding a unique charm to the visit.
A special feature of this place are the benches strategically placed to offer magnificent views of the beach. Sitting there, watching the horizon or the sunset, is truly unforgettable.
The entire area is lush with greenery and excellently marked, allowing for easy orientation and exploration. The parking lot is another big plus, as it is spacious and free, which is quite rare these days.
For dog owners, this park is the right choice, as they can enjoy walks with their pets. All in all, Short Point Recreation Reserve is a fantastic place to visit, whether you're looking for a quiet corner for reading, an active way to spend time, or just want to enjoy the beautiful views. I highly recommend a visit!

Lovely spot for a picnic or swim, good clean facilities. The icecream van even stops there!

One of the nicest beach spots we have come across on our travels. Beautifully maintained, lovely sights and very relaxing. You can even watch the ocean right from your car. Follow along on our adventures around Australia @sambolomio

Beautiful walk to the point from the carpark. Great views.
We met lots of friendly dogs!

It's one of the best spots in Merimbula. Ample parking space. Short walk to from beach to Short Point lookout.

Worth a stop if in the area. Beautiful white sand surf beach one side and Black Lagoon the other. It was a wild and windy day when we stopped. Surfers were out and the sky in the distance was dramatic with stormy clouds and a bit of sun peepiing out which made for some good photos. Nice big car park too. Well worth a visit.

Lovely dog walking area, brilliant for Whale watching and glorious beach.

Simply beautiful place. The Back Lake opened up to the sea on the day we visited, much to the glee of surfers. Short walk to the right gives you wide vistas of the South Pacific Ocean.

Just came to relax and look at the SPECTACULAR VIEW. 6 X comfortable wooden lounge chairs. Worth a stop! (Toilets X 3 Unisex/Wheelchair).
Merimbula Aquarium & Wharf Restaurant is a family-friendly spot with stunning ocean views, offering homestyle cakes, seafood, and choice wines. The restaurant provides a relaxed atmosphere for lunch, dinner, or simply enjoying coffee and cake while taking in the 180-degree ocean views of Merimbula Bay and breathtaking sunsets. Additionally, it features an aquarium to entertain kids. The venue is also popular for seaside weddings due to its spectacular location.
Enjoyed the aquarium. It was exquisite but had so much to watch. Fish feeding session with explanation was very educational. Fish and other sea creatures are well kept. Enjoyed the battered fish and chips with salads from the restaurant as the main course. Food was well prepared with reasonable price. Enjoyed the service with friendly staff and lived relaxing environment with amazing view to the sea.
Kay TAN — Google review
We payed $70 for this Aquarium. Extremely disappointed. It was very tired & run down. There was about 12 small tanks and a few fish. You could probably see the same amount at a pet store. One of the tanks was broken. To top it off they charged an extra 15% on public holidays. I don't know why as there is no staff down in the aquarium. It's also not pram or wheelchair friendly.
Grace Wardle — Google review
The servers rushed us through… to getting our orders to clearing our tables! We barely sat down and he wanted drink orders, and clearing our plates while some of us are still eating.
The scones were decent, but the lady server used her bare hands to pick up 2 scones that’s not covered, and popped them in the microwave. No food safety at all.
The Gin cured salmon was lacking a little flavour, just pure saltiness. The bacon scrambled on toast were good.
Pricing was not too expensive. View was beautiful
Lamemamabear Sonja — Google review
This aquarium and restaurant sits at the best location with nice water view. The food was delicious and presented really well! We also visited the small aquarium underneath the restaurant, it’s got 26 tanks in total and all come in different sizes. There were some very interesting fish and the guy who was cleaning the tank was so passionate about fish, he came and told us a lot about the different kind of fish in the aquarium. It was a really pleasant experience!
Angela Wong — Google review
We had a better time at this aquarium than we did at sea life in Melbourne. We were the only ones there so had our own tour. Alan and Will were super knowledgeable, friendly and great at making sure the kids were able to see everything. It was also great getting to see all the fish be fed. It was definitely well worth our money. We didn’t get to eat at the restaurant but coffee was good too.
Kailah Smith — Google review
Great location, excellent service and fantastic food on offer. I’ve been to the aquarium wharf restaurant a number of times and it has always been a great experience.
The aquarium itself is well worth seeing. A fantastic display of local and tropical species. Well sized and appointed tanks with a wide variety of specimens.

Firstly, apologies for the long rant but this one made one heck of a bad impression.
Besides the great views there were really no other positives about Aquarium. Upon arrival we waited at least 5min before anyone acknowledged our arrival. Eventually one of the waiters who had rushed past a few times noticed we had not been seated yet asked if we’re were being looked after and said he would be back in a minute to help. Shortly after the manager came and said that she would be back to seat us in a minute as well. In the meantime a large group came in behind us and the manager returned, walked straight past and took them to their table. While doing so the waiter then returned and when we mentioned the manager said she would seat us he appeared as if he wanted to help but looked worried to step on her toes and said it best we wait.
Eventually we were seated and two girls were alternately waiting our table. One was friendly & helpful and the other seemed untrained and didn’t really know what to do.
The first course came out and was ok at best. Mine was 2 prawns with a bit of sauce and my partners zucchini flowers were quite heavy on the batter.
The mains however were terrible. They had clearly been left under the heat lamps for way too long. On my dish the snapper was over cooked and the scampi was halved. On the half originally on top the meat had shrivelled so badly that it had gone hard and was inedible. This had obviously been swapped around and placed facedown just prior to serving so it was not obvious until I was halfway through the dish. My partner had ordered a medium rare fillet steak that was served just short of well done and was clearly cut by someone inexperienced.
After the first two courses we decided not to roll the dice with dessert and opted to get something in town instead.
At $140 for some of the worst meals we have ever had and a bottle of water this will be our first and last visit.
In summary, the restaurant seemed to be a rudderless ship as there were many young inexperienced staff and the manager was to busy looking after tables to actually guide the team.
Aquarium would be a nice place to sit and enjoy a drink or two but I strongly advise to eat elsewhere.
Mark Burgess — Google review
Amazing experience. I visited the Aquarium today and it was incredible. I was lucky enough to be the only visitor at the time and had two of their amazing staff show me around and tell me all about the animals, even the funny stories that only the workers would know. They are a catch a release aquarium with plenty to see. The animals and enclosures are very well kept and the fish feeding is a must. Can't wait to visit again.
J Suth — Google review
What a gr8 place to meet up for a coffee or some lunch. Gr8 atmosphere and friendly staff. Highly recommended having a look at the Aquarium, especially at feeding time.
Glenn Stokes — Google review
After visiting the aquarium, we decided to stay for lunch. We had a lovely table on the balcony, watching people fishing and we spotted dolphins swimming by - amazing view!
The staff were great and our drink order and entrees arrived quickly (beautiful oysters and garlic bread). Our mains came out a little too close to the entrees however they seafood linguine was beautiful. The seafood was fresh and tasty (not rubbery) and I ate all the seafood before I even touched the pasta as it was so good.
I'd definitely eat here as a first preference if we ever visit Merimbula again.
Monique Gibson — Google review
We found this beautiful restaurant by chance and had the most magical night imaginable. We had just recently gotten engaged and mentioned this in conversation and were congratulated and celebrated by all of the beautiful staff. They were beyond accomodating- including for our furry family member. We had the most amazing night celebrating our engagement watching the sunset and could not recommend the delicious food, the beautiful restaurant and aquarium and the absolutely incredible staff more. We felt like we’d wandered into a family. Highly highly recommend!
Zoe Collins — Google review
We stopped for coffee and cake which were both delicious. Restaurant is lovely with great views looking over the water and staff were efficient and friendly.
At $25 per adult and $17 per child be advised that the Aquarium is small, dated, signage needs replacing and very overpriced, $10 would be sufficient.
Peta Schiller — Google review
Beautiful restaurant with great views of the ocean and the wharf. We ordered the sea food platter for two and it was delicious! We went with a group of 7 and all of us, including the kids were impressed with the mains and desserts.
Highly recommend the butterscotch Panna cotta for dessert.
Our group was sat by the big glass windows and we were close enough to see a group of dolphins swim past… it was amazing.
Jessica — Google review
This establishment is located on a stunning beachside with unobstructed views of the coastline.
The dining experience was delightful; the food was highly enjoyable, and the staff provided excellent service. The manager's personal touch, greeting us at the end of our meal, added to the charm of our visit.
The high-quality cuisine and beautifully presented dishes made this experience truly special.
To cap off our meal, we explored the small but impressive aquarium located beneath the restaurant, which offered a surprising variety of marine life.
The combination of the restaurant and aquarium made for a lovely and recommendable treat.

This was definitely worth it. The view was absolutely gorgeous. The food was great and delicious and the service was incredible. Highly recommend. There is a free car park as well.

A nice stopover there and the atmosphere is great, staffs are friendly.
Stephen Tso — Google review
Single-handedly the two kindest workers my partner and I have ever met. After being on the road for a long time, such kindness really puts a spark in what can be such an ordinary day.
After being treated quite terribly by another customer, the female worker maintained a positive attitude, and overheard our conversation and offered more help on top of the help we had already received by her coworker.
Her male coworker was extremely happy and incredibly kind, even offering that we could contact the store if we were in need of suggestions on the road.
I hope these staff have a BEAUTIFUL day.

People here were very informative. They were so humble at receiving visitors and patient enough to explain localities. Souvenirs were reasonably priced and worth purchasing from here.
Pradeep Narsupalli — Google review
Don’t ask Gwen about Pambula (next town on 5mins drive away without an information centre) - in her words: “why are you in Merimbula asking about Pambula stuff? For context, we’ve already been in Merimbula a few days and wanted to explore nearby towns so this was a very strange response.
Mary Wee — Google review
I rang the Information Centre 29.3.22 seeking information on where to leave our car in Merimbula for four days whilst we headed off on a hiking adventure. Within a very short time I received a very helpful phone call which sorted this problem for me. The service was pleasant, efficient and I was totally impressed. Thank you so much.

Friendly staff to help guide you to things to see and do whilst in the south coast area also has souvenir gift shop.

Difficult to find as their large flag was not put out on the street when we got there, but a very helpful Cathy gave us some good information about the area.

Many thanks to Irene for giving us lots of helpful tourist information. We enjoyed Raymond Island and seeing all the cute koalas up close. Both the ladies were welcoming and helpful. Thanks so much.
Rebecca Adams-Fulton — Google review
The gentleman and the lady were very kind and accommodating. The place is well presented, and beautiful souvenirs are available if you need one. Bonus, the shop has maps which are very helpful to locate your destination, especially if you aren't local.

Helpful informative and motivated team, lot of information, keep up the good work
Family attraction with theme-park rides, go-karts, a tube slide, tree-climbing & a souvenir shop.
A must visit place, If you are staying in Merimbula. Can easily spend close to 6-7 hrs with kids. A compact theme park with unlimited access to rides.
Lakshminarayanan Venougobalan — Google review
Fairly small amusement park, good for kids and adults. Quite pricey and everyone needs a ticket to enter the park and the tree climbing is extra. Queue lengths were quite long for a number of the rides.
Paul Reichl — Google review
Complete Rip off and way too expensive for what it is. Only one adult was going on the rides with our 6 year old but we still had to pay full price ($59) for another adult to sit and watch the whole time. Can understand they are a business but perhaps there can be a “spectators” fee to those not going on any of the rides. Most rides weren’t open which we weren’t made aware of at the time of entering. Could only go on three of the attractions. The staff told us that they rotate through the attractions hence why most were closed, again this should be made aware to guests as some don’t plan on spending a whole day there.
Larissa A — Google review
We had a VERY lovely time at Magic Mountain!
We really appreciate ALL the rides & activities available for kids of all ages!
The staff were all absolutely amazing, patient & kind! Thank you for taking the time to chat with our Son(s) & making it such a wonderful experience before our journey home! 😊
Can't wait to get back to have some more fun when the boys are a bit bigger & can go on ALL of the rides! 🤩
Shannon McGufficke — Google review
Great Place to Go for Pure Fun! The Hamburgers could be a little better though. Put some Eggs and Bacon in them rather then just Cheese, Lettuce and Beef. Pretty Basic for $12...
Michael Morley — Google review
Great place. Had a fantastic time.
My five year old loved it.
Only ride he couldn't do was the roller coaster. Was an inch too short.
We spent all day there.
Staff where friendly. Drink, food and ice cream available.
Heaps of tables around to put your stuff on.
Large grassed areas.
Noo Foster — Google review
Kids and adults alike had a great day. The Grand Prix and tobaggan ride were probs the favourite. The wind was too cold to really appreciate the water slides.
All the staff were friendly and informative regarding the rules etc for the rides.
There were 2 slightly negatives, the cafe was a little light on for variety for lunch options, the burger was luke warm as were the chips and nuggets. The coffee and service was great though.
The other was a safety issue on the jumping castle entry/exit, more than one child either slipped over, or stumbled on the tarp. The "edge" is quite steep and possibly by moving the black mat would help alleviate some of the issue.
jilly beanz — Google review
Went to Magic Mountain on Australia Day 2022. Such a great place for kids and adults alike. Will definitely be coming back. Great little park packed with enough rides for little ones, big kids and big kids at heart. Plenty of shade. Not too far to walk. Friendly staff, clean amenities. So happy to finally come and check the place out. Would definitely recommend 👌
Ailsa Martin — Google review
We visited in mid winter so the water slides were not operating and the rope course was unavailable due to maintenance. However we still had a great time and the toboggan run and roller coaster were the favourites. The park will probably appeal more to the younger children as the rides are a bit tame for teenagers. The basic food options were pretty pricey but normal for a theme park. Worth a visit if you are in the area.
Peter Blake — Google review
If you have kids and want a fun day out, then this is a good place to go. Just be aware that it will cost around $50 per adult to enter and kids around $30. There is an over 60's entrance fee around $30 which helps grand parents reduce the cost of their visit. The good news is all the rides are free once in the park. There are lots of rides, but be prepared to queue for the popular ones. There is a small take away area where you can buy something to eat, but it is expensive so consider taking a picnic basket instead. Staff were friendly and the facilities were clean. We visited the park outside the Victorian school holidays so it was not over crowded. We had a very pleasant day there.
Kevin Adair — Google review
Very fun. Lines were very long though but for some attractions it was worth the wait. Every time I have come here though the roller coaster has been out of service.
Raff Dwyer — Google review
Here you can pass the most enjoyable time, especially as a family...
Thanks for giving so much varieties to be pleased and recording unforgettable memories.
Adrian Gjovalin LUKA — Google review
Had an absolute blast!! The staff were amazing and the rides were fun. The kids loved it, especially the water slides!! Was worth the the money for the tickets and the round trip. 10/10 would recommend and go again! A ++
Nancy Patu — Google review
Had a fairly fun day, the entrance fee and food on-site is quite expensive. If you plan on going on the waterslides make sure you have spare clothes because most rides won't let you on when you are wet. Over all it was quite fun. And the staff were all lovely

134 Sapphire Coast Dr, Merimbula NSW 2548, Australia
Nature sanctuary with a relaxed, hippie atmosphere showcasing native Australian animals.
Not very crowded. Kangaroos and emus were lovely - we really enjoyed hand feeding them!! Dingoes were also cute!! The lady at the reception was very nice and so friendly!
Hannah Alexander — Google review
Whilst it's an amazing opportunity to see wildlife in one place. 120 for 2 adults 2 kids. Train ride and feed was included in price. The price was pretty steep for not seeing many animals, the dingos pens were unkempt, no idea if they had dingos let alone any other animals. The bats were shivering couldn't see if there was a warm hide hole. We did have a mascot bird that followed us back. Whilst we payed a motsa and hardly saw anything we did enjoy it and the people are quite nice. The bloke that was doing the feeds was really nice and helpful. I'm glad I got to see it but not impressed by the price. Photos below are the animals we saw.
Kazza Anne (Kazza) — Google review
This was such a brilliant family day out. Far more intimate and enjoyable than most zoo experiences. Highly recommend!
Haydon Leigh — Google review
A worthy local business - as well as being a centre for re-homing animals and a place to volunteer. We, as a family of 4 decided to head on in whilst staying in Merimbula on holiday. At the time we had a 12 month old and a nine year old, and both of them had great fun exploring and getting to interact with some of the animals. On our visit it was just our family walking around which we loved. You can feed and pat kangaroos, emus, ducks and geese... Enough to keep young ones (perhaps aged 10 and under) occupied for a good hour or two, maybe even longer. With that said, we found BBQ facilities within the sanctuary but did not enquire, as well as a few outdoor games like ring-toss and giant checkers to stay occupied. Not all enclosures feature animals every day of the year, you need to factor in maintenance, sick animals and other reasons so hence some enclosures are empty. There quite a few birds, some that talk, some that will land on you and some that may bite so beware either way. There's a small gift shop and cafe, however the cafe wasn't open on our visit - no trouble to us. It seemed small to us at first but you realise it's a bit bigger than you think once you start wandering around. This is definately not a "Taronga Zoo", it's a smaller scale animal sanctuary that will give you, and or, the kids something to do for a little while. On our visit, we were able to chat with a gentleman about the dingoes that he had recently donated to the sanctuary - lovely guy and very informative, so you never know what you might get. Overall, our family had a nice time. Wheelchair and pram friendly to a degree. Due to the natural environment there's quite a few bumps and rocks etc. to navigate but it can be done. We came, we saw, we enjoyed.
Matt S — Google review
Really enjoyed our time there, you can see they really care about the animals they have their and the highlights for us was the Echidna's, Koala's and of course Chuffy was absolutely gorgeous, the way she wanted pats and company.
Highly recommend a visit here if in the area.
Penny W — Google review
A great animal sanctuary with many types of animals including kangaroos, emus, echidnas, wombats, dingoes, a reptile enclosure and many bird averies. There is a train ride for the kids and feed bags too. Cafe and souvenir shop

We enjoyed our experience. The staff were friendly. The animals were friendly. The star of the sanctuary was George the Cape Barren Goose. He followed us around everywhere and seems to be the boss of the park👍

Amazing experience. We saw kangaroos, emus, echidnas, koalas - even fed some of them. A beautiful place!

This is a must visit place for animal lovers travelling down the south coast! 🥰 The staff were so friendly and they're doing such wonderful work with their lovable residents. All the animals have their stories outside their enclosures, which were so lovely to read! Particular shout out to the kind keeper, who despite being very busy, introduced us to a very special little Melly! You made our day, thank you!! 🥰❤

We had a wonderful time at this lovely sanctuary! The native animals are well cared for and in beautiful surroundings. The encounter and echidna talk were very interactive and a great experience. Also make sure to visit the café and gift shop!

We recently visited Potaroo Palace with my grandson and his parents. My grandson aged 21 months really enjoyed seeing the kangaroos, geese and emu's up close. We missed our train ride as we didn't realize we were allotted a time. But enjoyed the morning there non the less.

My second visit to this rescue centre. Lovely to be able to get close to native animals and birds. My grandson loved the train!

Really lovely sanctuary where you can interact with the well known animals if the area. They have some talkative birds too. The cafe food was simple and delicious and the staff lovely. The sanctuary supports animals that cannot be rehabilitated so great to know our visit supported a critically needed cause.
Tracy Coetsee — Google review
Amazing staff! It has a baby change room and disabled room. Bring an all-terrain pram or wheelchair though as there are lots of bumps and hills. 2 disabled parking spaces. A variety of animal encounters as well- snakes, dingos, emus, kookaburra, koala, echidna, and more. I won't forget about Max the Laughing Cockatoo and Chuffy the Chough anytime soon. The geese were also funny (very interested in the pram wheels).
Ben Boyd National Park is a vast coastal park situated in two distinct sections, north and south of Eden, spanning over 10,485 hectares. The park is named after entrepreneur Ben Boyd who attempted to build an empire around Eden but failed spectacularly in 1850. The park's striking coastline dotted with colorful cliffs and secluded beaches is protected within its boundaries where visitors can enjoy whale watching and observe plentiful bird and marsupial life.
Awesome park, fully booked out over the Australia Day weekend which was a bit annoying.
Really recommend the light to light walk. There’s a really nice campground about 5km from Boyds Tower.

Nice easy walk past the red rocks amd on a little farther is a lively view to the water

We visited the Pambula section, it was really beautiful with lovely walks and wild coastline, and of course the Pinnacles. A very special part of Australia.
Jeffrey Erlich — Google review
It is a great place to visit, we had a great time there. All places there are so beautiful, unfortunately we didn't see any whales there, it is still worth for a trip. We enjoyed hiking, sightseeing. The road to getting there quite rough, a lot of flies, be prepared.
Tim Vo — Google review
Haycock point is a great place to scabble over rocks and look in rock pools , there were kangaroos in picnic area. Wear shoes , the slope down once you get to the bottom of the stairs is steep but looks worse than it is! Barmouth beach is a gorgeous cove , beautiful clear, calm water , amazing for a swim , stairs down to beach . Walk to pinnacles is lovely through the bush , either head down to beach ( quite a few stairs ) or track to view pinnacles , easy walk .

Pretty and peaceful walks with the essential emenities available.

Recommend to spend a full day here. Many small walking tracks & look outs - 10-20 mins return. Bring sunscreen, lots of water and snacks!

A truly wild and magnificent place, we camped at the Bittangabee Bay site for a few days and explored the surrounding areas. Awesome. You will not be disappointed by the scenery or the wildlife, including a couple of lyrebirds who frequent the campground and could often be seen scratching through the leaf litter.

Pinnacles loop walking track in Ben Boyd National Park
Visited on 13/3/2021
It was a beautiful sunny day. It was not very hot, just right for me who prefer cooler temperature. The track is 1.1 km which meanders through the woodland. The walk was pleasant and easy.
The highlight was the Pinnacles, which could be viewed from two lookout points. It is fascinating as well as spectacular.
The Pinnacles consist of cliffs of soft white sands capped with a layer of red gravel clay. They were formed during the Tertiary geological period – up to 65 million years ago.
Long drive up dirt road. You'll need a 4wd. Cannot get in. Just take photos outside. Walk up the beach and enjoy the beach all to yourself. Can picnic. Toilets available. Free admission.
Skandakumar Kumarasingam — Google review
Some very interesting history and good information is provided. Very little of the original structures remain. It is worth a look, but the ocean facing beaches in this area are more beautiful. The road in is currently only just passable for a 2WD.
Anthony Coward — Google review
Worth a visit, great information. Would also be very pretty on a sunny day
Katherine Cox — Google review
Very little still there of the historic Davidson Whaling Station, only 3-4 rusted metal tanks and some other metal pieces.
A couple of the original houses nearby and grounds near the bay (still in very good condition but unfortunately fenced off and can only be viewed from a
distance. Most likely so safety reasons.
Wendy Missen — Google review
Great site to visit. Easy access for vehicles and by foot. You don’t need a four wheel drive!!
Stunning views and great site information markers.
A worthwhile site to visit; you’ll not be disappointed!!
Dr Rovel Shackleford — Google review
Great historical site with amazing views out to sea and Ben Boyd National Park in the distance. Cliff edge is just beyond the overflow car Park end. Hang a right at the big tree stump with the roof on it. No fence of any sort. Long way down
Claudia Jordan — Google review
The highlight of the day was the amazing historic Davidson Whaling Station just across Twofold Bay on Kiah Inlet.
In the 1890s the Davidson family took to the seas, unbeleivably assisted by a pack of Orca killer whales to herd up larger whales and then slaughter and extract oil, as whale oil was a major source of illumination, lubrication and soap manufacture and helped drive the industrial revolution.
Yet, Kiah Inlet was a magical serene place, with bellbirds calling out which we just loved
Colin Slark — Google review
Great interpretative boards throughout the old Davidson house and at the whaling works on the shore, and a friendly national parks and wildlife officer who made us welcome. Not far from the Boyd Tower, but 8 or so km of good unsealed road to get there.
David Farmer (austega) — Google review
This was a beautiful area to explore with some interesting history presented on the information boards, and remnants left from the whaling station towards the waters edge. Wonderfully quiet with some great points of interest on the track down to the bottom. A relatively flat walk with a marked path, with dogs being allowed with you on leash.

Omg so much history and information to see and read a well worth stop

Excellent piece of history. Thoroughly enjoyed learning the whaling story in this area. Gorgeous location. Beautiful shells on the beaches close by. Definitely recommend a visit here.

Beautiful place, off the beaten track but accessible in a 2wd down a well maintained dirt road.
Clare Barrett — Google review
Lovely historic homestead and revenants of the old whaling station.
Whilst you can’t actually go inside the homestead itself, it’s a lovely site to see from
Outside.
If you follow the path down towards the beach there is also the remains of the old whale processing facilities.
There is heaps of parking in the car park with overflow where required. There is also public toilets located with the sites.
Note the drive in is around 4.0km of dirt road, but it is well maintained.
We had an incredible stay at Jenny and Arthur's place, camping on the Riverfront site. It is a seriously beautiful spot, right by the river and with plenty of room on the site (especially as we were only two people)! Lush and soft grass, with a very nice and clean composting toilet and water access made camping a pleasure. We also did the morning kayak tour down the river which I can highly recommend, Jenny is an excellent guide and brews a really nice coffee, plus bakes her world's famous white choc-chip muffins which are a must. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Awesome Kayak Tour!! loved every second! The Muffins are delicious and the coffee is exactly what we needed after an early morning of kayaking.
Very knowledgeable and pleasant to talk to along the way. We loved that they took photos for us and uploaded them to a dropbox link for us so we could focus on kayaking and taking in the sights.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting the area!

They contribute to the local community. Full of knowledge. Amazing wildlife around. Plus the quiet camping areas. Nice to see they put you first and make sure you are happy. Great views. You can’t go wrong. Safety is also high priority on the river. Good brief and ensured we were sun smart.

Fantastic Morning. Jenny and Arthur were excellent guides. We meandered down the river at a leisurely pace enjoying the magnificent scenery. I would highly recommend the tour.
Bronwyn Burgess — Google review
We were lucky enough to have met Jenny and Arthur prior to the kayak tour having had stayed on one of their camp sites. Right from the first intro, you know you are in good hands. With a 9 and 11yo we were aware that safety was important. The 9yo had no experience paddling. This was not an issue. Jenny made sure everyone was at ease with clear instructions and support. Arthur towed the 9yo for a fair while and both Jenny and Arthur were coaching all the way. It was a beautiful morning spent learning about the river, the history of the region, bird and wildlife watching and just an all round relaxing paddle. We stopped for a rest, had some morning tea and a swim. The highlight was the return trip where the 9yo was confident and keen to take on paddling back on her own steam. Thank you Jenny and Arthur for a wonderful experience.
Dear Jenny ,
We had an amazing time at your camp and an even better time kayaking with you and I hope you did to thank you
From 9yo
Hi Jenny
I liked the experience kayaking seeing all the animals and birds around. I had a great time on the river with Jenny and Arthur.

My partner and I got to experience the morning Kayak session with Jenny and Arthur.
Jenny and Arthur are extremely knowledgeable about the river and surrounding wildlife and treated the experience as though it was their first time exploring.
We were lucky enough to see Australian Water Dragons, Kingfishers and a Python on our outing, all of which were highlighted by our incredible guides.
I would recommend this experience to anyone and would say this a MUST SEE if you are in the area. This is a day we wont forget.
Jenny and Arthur went above and beyond to make sure we had a great experience and provided a few recommendations of places to visit in and around Eden.

We were very impressed by everything; the nature, a wonderful breakfast, the equipment and guidance. We had little experience in kayaking earlier but Jenny made sure I felt comfortable. Along our 2 weeks trip this might well be the best experience. Such a lovely people, highly recommended!

Our family did a guided kayaking tour on 13/01. Jenny and husband were very friendly and knowledgeable. Tour was well organized and following COVID protocol. Jenny also took great photos for us. River was peaceful and clear. Our family had a wonderful time. Highly recommended.
Awesome spot, just the missus & myself there. Really cool hut, water tank was handy. One on the toilet as well. Left some firewood that we didn’t use & some more newspaper. Good track in there.

Absolutely delightful place to camp. We camped in mid summer, there were so many wildflowers. This place is gobsmackingly beautiful. Great trees for setting up hammocks. Wonderful, bird filled sunrises and peaceful star filled nights.
Interesting information on the history of the hut and an enjoyable array of walks. My daughter and I both had a wonderful time and plan on returning.
Even in summer the nights/mornings can be quite cool, so pack accordingly. There's also no reception or potable water, so come prepared.

There is a 90 minute circular walk from the hut around the grasslands that is worthwhile.
Arriving, Google Maps wanted me to drive on a walking track from Nunnock Campground - just use the Cattlemans Link instead.

This is a great clean and well maintained camp site for all types of campers. Solo travellers can find some peace and isolation, families can enjoy having a large open space for kids to run and explore, and couples can have a romantic weekend away.
Very well maintained and extremely clean with a drop-toilet (view from the toilet is the photo attached), I would definitely recommend this site to anybody looking for a camping adventure.

Hiring a boat is the best way to explore Mallacoota lakes (lagoons) with over 300km of coastline. On our trips we saw: variety of water birds (sea eagles, pelicans and swans galore etc), goannas, fish. Even an upside down seal whose flipper we mistook for dolphin’s dorsal.
David who runs this place is amazing: welcoming, knowledgeable of the area and with an eye on customer’s interests. When we wanted to hire a boat initially he dissuaded us (the wind was cold and would become unpleasant in the open) despite the fact he could have made an extra buck.
During our week’s visit we hired the boat twice.
Highly recommend this place.

After our kayaking session, he just dipped, called him again and he said he won’t be back for 30 mins.
The amount of trust he places in complete strangers with his money and property is astonishing.

Really friendly and knowledgeable staff. Happy to help and provide advice. Very helpful tips for beginners in what can be difficult water's to navigate. Pointed me in the direction of a few fishing holes. Came home with a good feed of flatty and bream and threw a lot more fish back.

Very friendly and helpful staff. We booked the green 'fast' boat. It was a great boat, well maintained and performed perfectly. Good maps, depth sounder and recommendations on best places to go - which were all easy to get to given the speed of the boat. We didn't go fishing but the boat is well set up for that. Clean with plenty of space to store our picnic bags. Highly recommend.

Very interesting piece of Australian history, including history of the area, fantastic static displays, there is also a video presentation that runs for eighteen minutes.
We only spent one hour here because we arrived one hour before closing time. To have a better experience I think that you would need to spend two to three hours wandering around reading the information boards associated with each display.

We enjoyed 3 days on the spectacular Great East Rail Trail and Discovery Trail, fully supported by Michelle and the Snowy River Cycling support crew. If you have ever wanted to try a cycling tour, this is a great place to start. Comfortable accommodation, great food, easy trails that are interesting with just the right amount of challenge. There was even a coffee van serving Portuguese tarts at the top of the hill! Our group had beginners through to regulars and a mix of mountain bikes and e-bikes. Even kids could manage the trail. Michelle has a terrific local community of small businesses so we enjoyed interesting talks and tastes along our tour. We were so impressed with Michelle's organisation and ability to manage a large group to a schedule without rushing anyone. We also appreciated the care taken with transporting our bikes on trailer to each stage of the tour. We will certainly return and highly recommend a small or large ride with Snowy River Cycling.

The Buchan Caves Reserve Visitor Centre and Ticket Office provides guided tours of the underground cave system, showcasing stunning limestone rock formations and intricate stalactites and stalagmites. The caves have been open to visitors since 1908 and contain fascinating fossilised bones of Australian wildlife such as kangaroos and wombats. In addition to the caves, the location also features a well-equipped camping site with amenities like toilets, showers, laundry facilities, kitchen areas, and BBQ spots.
Absolutely beautiful caves. Went on the Royal Cave and Fairy Cave tour and the guide explain the history of the caves very well. Definitely recommended. Even the surrounding areas are filled with greenery and the air was so fresh. Great for camping and also hiking around the area.

We tried to visit Buchan Caves last January but didn't book early enough and missed out. So glad we got in this year, saw Royal cave with our 7yo. It was AMAZING. I remember seeing a cave when I was young but what I'll remember most about this tour was the guide. Unfortunately I didn't get his name but he is pictured on the Parks page! He was very considerate of everyone. Gave info in terms the kids could process with a lot of humour too. He also chose little helpers along the way which made the kids day. I'll be back to see a different cave at some point. Well worth the trip.

We visited the caves during the Melbourne Cup long holiday, and took the Royal cave tour .It was very well conducted. The limestone cave formations are awesome!! It's a great experience to view them in person. The conducted tour allows for adequate time to appreciate the formations of stalactites and also for some nice photography.
The tour took around an hour, and involved a little bit of stair-climbing, but nothing difficult. The elderly in our group (aged 75+) managed the tour without much difficulty. The floor is a bit slippery but not a major impediment. Parts of the cave route can get cramped, but should be manageable for most people.
I will not recommend this tour for infants and very young kids (under 3) as they may get cranky due to the darkness and damp and humid climate inside the caves. However, I highly recommend it for older kids and adults.
We went here on a hot day, but the temperature inside the cave was pleasant (though it was humid).
Note: Food and water are not allowed inside the caves during the tour.

Stunning. Fairy Cave was beautiful, nature is absolutely amazing. Tour guide was very friendly, knowledgable & funny.
Great place for families to visit.
Such a shame that people ignore signs & requests of tour guides asking us NOT TO TOUCH the cave walls etc as it does permanent damage. To see the discolouration of the walls & formations caused by oils etc from peoples hands/fingers touching & feeling them, or the broken formations from people trying to take a souvenir home with them is maddening. A moment of ignorance & greed does a lifetime of damage. Do as you're told, DO NOT TOUCH & we can all continue to enjoy the natural wonders. Keep ignoring the requests & eventually there will be nothing left for future generations to see & enjoy because you have destroyed them or they have had to be closed off to the public so they can be preserved.
What an interesting structure. The mind boggles on how they constructed it in the early 1900s. Well worth the visit. Lots of stairs to the viewing area or a walk up the hill to it. I managed the stairs up and down with a bad hip and a crutch.

Beautiful piece of history to look at and pictures really don’t show how grand and the large scale it truly is. Obviously you can’t get into the bridge but there’s a perfectly good viewing platform.
The car park is gravel and the area has toilets. There are also a couple of picnic tables in the parking area. The maps don’t show the exact location where it is but you just keep following the road for a few more kilometres.

Well worth taking the time to see this bridge. It is not marked well on GPS so just keep following the road at the turnoff until you hit the carpark.

Stunning bridge with some great photo opportunities. Different bridge viewpoints either side, and some nice walks nearby too. Dogs are allowed on leash, although caution near the top of the railway line and the steep drop. A few parking areas, with the main parking at the bottom of the bridge. Seeing the bridge is worth it , the last train was in 1988 after that it got close .
Short drive on corrugated dirt road to access the entry of Stony Creek Trestle Bridge. Surrounded by bush land
You can do picnic and enjoy it surroundings.

A wonderful reminder of early 20th century ingenuity and engineering. A credit to the builders, may it remain protected from fires.

I love seeing all these historic structures, there is something missing now adays. The time, detail and hard work these people would have had to endure to create such a bridge, something so Majestic just looking at it. 15 minutes out of lakes entrance with visible signage on the left. Great lookout at the top of the bridge, though in bad repair you can't walk on it. parking and toilets at site
Beautiful place, delicious wine, great host.
Small family winery in a beautiful Victoria country.

Happened upon Ensay Winery in February 2018. The proprietor was lovely and friendly, pouring samples and engaging in conversation and asking us about our opinions on the political situation at home after she heard my American accent. As we were leaving, she welcomed us to pick fruit from the winery's trees to eat on our trip.

Really lovely owners had a great chat about the history of the winery and the production process. Furthermore the sparkling red that was bought for Christmas dinner was excellent. Would highly recommend a visit even if just to see the dog and chickens 😄

Visited during attending BlazeAid Camp!
Such a fantastic host and beautiful produce.
Wyanga Park Winery is a charming family-owned and operated restaurant nestled in a rustic bush setting on Baades Road in Lakes Entrance. The winery offers an excellent selection of wines, all of which are simply superb. Additionally, the restaurant serves delicious food with generous portions. Although recently affected by bush fires, the seafood chowder remains loaded with flavorful seafood while dishes like the Gippsland Platter are particularly noteworthy.
Good wine tasting. The bush fires affected the wines.
Delicious food and large portions!
Fish of the day was fresh and not too oily.
Seafood chowder had a lot of seafood.
Staff was excellent and attentive.

We've just been so fortunate to enjoy a fabulous Mexican menu at this delightful winery.
The staff are as lovely as the wines and food.
We are touring in a motorhome and are staying 3 nights (for $50, fully credited against lunch or dinner) - basically camping for free.
I can't think of anyway to describe just how happy we've been with the experience.
Thank you Sarah and the kitchen staff 🙏

Booked the lunch package that included a boat cruise to/from Lakes Entrance, wine tasting, cheese platter and main course. I would highly recommend this package, which is booked directly through the winery’s website, and not Peels cruises.
We had a very informative commentary on the boat, saw a group of rare lake dolphins swimming in the lake, saw seals sunning themselves on the rocks near the entrance, and various bird life.
The winery is in a pretty bush setting, and we were seated out on the balcony overlooking trees. The wine tasting included a range of white, rose, moscato, reds and fortified wines, and the lunch itself was delicious.
A great way to experience the combination of the lake, some nature, and great food and wine.

Lovely spot to camp but a lot of dog poo around and the service and food was woeful. We waited over an hour for a meat and cheese platter that came in a small box and is shown in the photos $65. Whilst camping is free if you patronage the winery, the $130 we spent felt like the biggest rip off going.

Came up for lunch with our two dogs and couldn’t be happier! Yummy food, lovely wine, and super friendly service. We wanted to know where they buy the bread from so we could go get some only to find out they make it in house! So delish! Great local spot, happy we chose correctly.

We were lucky enough to eat and stay at Wyanga Winery. Arriving for our 12.30pm booking we sat and decided on a tasting paddle each. Once we had this we ordered an entree each and a bottle of mixed variety wine that we shared. We then ordered our mains. We enjoyed all our meals and were never rushed. Service was a little slow, but this could have been the staff just giving us space. We had put ourselves into a food coma so went back to our motorhome for a rest. We were able to light a fire and sat outside til bedtime. We would definitely go back and eat, drink and stay. Do yourself a favour and check this place out.

Love this place. Even though they were struggling with staff issues, the place and everything was running really well. We had the Gippsland Platter, which was fantastic. The wines are also amazing. You must come here, if in Lakes Entrance

The only winery in the area. The wines were alright.
It is a good place to take your family for a couple of hours if you are into cakes, food etc.
I wouldn't go here again for the wines themself
The staff was very hospitable

Wyanga Winery has 50 years history of wine. They have food too.
If you are first time here you can ask the waitress to recommend their tasting patter and then choose the one you liked.
The food is good but not outstanding.
Highly recommended the chicken salad
which is flavorful and refreshing.
The lamb burger is good to the lamb is juicy and the sauce is just good combined with the lamb.
The Bruschetta is roasted and the 🍅 salsa is really good.
The seafood chowder is creamy and love the 🍤!
My favorite is the homemade bread which is a bit salty but really full of wheat smell.
Can stop here while you are traveling here!

One of the best Mexican dinner I had for a long time. I loved the asada scotch fillet and Chimi Chunga, it is an authentic Mexican dish. We also enjoyed the wine tasting and ordered a bootle of Shiraz which is a perfect match with the meat dish. I would loved to have more soft tacos with the fajitas. If you are planning to visit lakes entrance, make sure you book your Friday and Saturday Mexican dinner here.

We stayed here as campers. If you spend $50 on food or drink you get to sleep at the winery for free. We did a wine tasting and then bought 2 bottles of Shiraz. Now, not all wines suit our taste. But that didn't matter. The hosts are nice, friendly and lovely people. There is a 1 star deduction for the free-roaming dogs that follow you all the way to the camper and not everyone likes that. Otherwise it was a really nice stay.

Had an amazing time here. Got a cruise from Lakes Entrance to the winery, lovely commentary on route. On arrival small bus up hill to winery. Once inside greeted by friendly staff, sampled some lush wines and located table. Inside is rustic and the tables were not high end but in keeping with the winery feel. Gorgeous Pear Paste came with cheese platter to start, then had a lovely fish, chips and salad to follow then dessert. Could not fault the food, staff super friendly and helpful. Cruise back to shore and took from 11am to 3pm so well worth the money. Would I recommend, most definately. They as in the winery allow camper vans to park for free on their property. Obviously its worth having a meal whilst there. I explored the grounds post lunch and enjoyed the views prior to leaving. Not for those with mobility issues as in the tour however if you drive up then no mobility issues on arrival.

We decided to take the cruise + wine tasting + lunch package to Wyanga winery. The cruise was very well organised, and the skipper was very informative and friendly. He even chased a group of dolphins that were in the area. The boat ride was about 35 minutes, and once we reached, a van picked us up from the bottom of the hill. The owner was super friendly and gave us a taste of all the wine that was available. The food served was tasty and very well curated. I would definitely recommend this cruise package to everyone. Kudos to the team at Wyanga!

Highly recommend if visiting the lakes entrance area!
The food was mouthwatering, we ordered the cheese board with shadows of blue cheese (best blue cheese ever) and other delicious components.
For main we ordered the chorizo and prawn salad, which was so yum on a hot day, prawns were slightly over cooked but still good and the clam chowder which had no faults at all besides that we just wanted more and more bread to dip haha.
Wine floats are very affordable and all pretty good.
Worth checking out 😊

The food here was fantastic and we really enjoyed the boat cruise. However, we had some feedback to provide and I both emailed this to Wyanga Park, and responded to the automatic feedback email they later sent me, and I’ve never heard back from either three weeks later.
One person in our group was unable to drink due to a chronic health issue. Firstly when they said to the waiter that they weren’t drinking, he loudly said “what, are you pregnant? Or hoping to be?” I don’t think this was meant to be hurtful, but it was really inappropriate and could be pretty upsetting for anyone experiencing fertility issues. It might be worth asking your staff to just reply “no worries” next time someone says they aren’t drinking/can’t drink.
We asked if a Coke could be provided instead of the wines and the waitress then serving us said yes. It wasn’t until after we had paid that we realised we had been charged for the Coke on top of lunch, despite one adult in our party not consuming any alcohol. $5 doesn’t break the bank for us, I think it was an accident, but I’ll never know as I never received a response.
Again, the experience was well worth the money overall, the food was great as was the scenery and boat trip.

Our first visit was by boat. We were allowed to moore up to the jetty on the river. The owner drove down the 600m walk to the winery to pick us up on a hot day. We had lunch with a baby and toddler and the service was amazing. My toddler spilt his entire milkshake and they were so good about it and even made him a new one. Food is absolutely amazing and wine even better. We were able to now come back and camp at the winery in our caravan. Ensure that you are completely self sustained.

What a lovely find this winery was!
A lovely small business with very passionate owners who are trying to appeal to all tastes -a big ask! But they are kicking goals.
We had a lovely wine tasting with very knowledgeable contribution from the owner. All the wines we tasted were on point. Our tastes led us to purchase what suited us. Wish we had not eaten lunch beforehand because the menu looked lovely. Maybe next time. Thank you.

Small, quaint museum & retail shop offering a wide selection of seashells & preserved specimens.
Unbelievable. The experience was Amazing and very educational. The variety of this amazing collection was unimaginable and very detailed in the description of hundreds of artefacts. From 2 headed Sharks to giant grabs a Amazing toy Train display that is worth seeing just buy itself .. A coral reef witch is a must see... The owners say the collection was unimaginable to describe and was put together over last 40... To 50 years and a young boys love of my cookies....

The museum has a whole heap of shells from across the world, donated by collectors such as Frank Jones. There is a small aquarium that needs more fish, and the train set needs more trains as it only has 2 trains running (don't know if the others are working). Also has a COVID Safe plan that is well enforced. Ended up buying a mug for $7.50 for my younger brother's birthday present (sounds dear, but supports locals and is unique).

More a massive gift shop than a museum, as pretty much everything is for sale. A great range of various shells and also gemstones and other general souvenirs.
P.S: I’m told the museum is out the back (I think). I could not see any signs that direct you to the museum. It would be nice if the lady in the shop asked if we’d been to or would like to go to the museum.

Amazing collection of shells at gift shop. My daughter and I bought a lot of beautiful shells at reasonable price. It is a must go place at Lakes Entrance. Highly recommended!
Jennifer Chan — Google review
It was pretty good and I used to love going. Lately it feels like it's more run down than it has been. It's nothing too bad but some dusting and new paint would go a long way. The train set needs some attention as only one of the trains still runs and it sounds like the motor is struggling. Another area for improvement would be the air quality inside, it feels extremely stuffy and some fresh air coming in would go a long way. I understand that the fish require a certain temperature but the air inside feels really stuffy. I would go again but some pretty small things would make the experience far better.

The shop is very reminiscent of the 80’s era but loved seeing all the shells and rocks. The museum was well Roth a visit and fascinating specimens both in shells, rocks and aquarium that were unique. The miniature railway was a bonus. Had it to ourselves mid week so really enjoyed our time there

A gem in Lake Entrance. I highly recommend visiting this museum. A well exhibited collection of thousands of shells and sea life from around the world. The model train display is also very well done and presented. Depending on your interest, it can take between 30 minutes to an hour to view their collection.
The souvenir shop in the front is also very nice, selling accessories and trinkets made from shells.
This is ideal for adults, as well as kids above 5 years of age.

The Griffiths Sea Shell Museum and Marine Display, a unique fusion of a shop and museum, left me enchanted. The sea shells, elegantly adorned and diverse in options, created a captivating display. The sculptures were particularly impressive, making it a must to purchase one as a lasting memory. Although my exploration leaned towards the shop rather than the museum, it's undeniably a delightful spot, especially for kids.

Nyerimilang Heritage Park has been a 179-hectare park since 1984, showcasing a homestead from the 19th century with exhibits, trails, and picnic areas. The site is managed by friendly local volunteers who welcome visitors without any entry fees. The park offers an opportunity for family picnics, weddings, and gatherings while also providing a souvenir shop to support the volunteers' efforts.

The heritage park is open everyday but the circa 1884 Homestead is open only on certain weekends & possibly this is when Devonshire tea is available as well. Enquire ahead via website.
Plenty of parking at entrance where toilets are located. Trail maps can be picked up here as are sign boards with Open day info. Playground, BBQ & gazebo towards left of entrance. Gift shop is only open when volunteers are available.
Extensive park area is downward sloping - has well signposted & maintained walking trails. If you don't have the time, just walk in the direction of Cliff Top Walking trail & you will be rewarded with a fab Lookout over Lakes Entrance water inlets. Not far from this point is the old Farm House with Shearing Barn (with rusty vintage equipment), outhouses & dunny still intact. There is a modern drop toilet here too. Cliff Top Trail is a tranquil bush walk with beaut views & wildlife like wallabies (we spotted one) & signs of Wombat/echidna activity.
It is possible to navigate up to a certain point with stroller/wheelchair but will need muscle power to get back up!

Loved our visit to Nyerimilang Heritage Park where we were lucky enough to catch a local botanical expert giving a talk on the flora found there. The homestead is wonderfully preserved/restored and the grounds beautiful. We did one of the longer walks which was OK but a bit underwhelming, and when we arrived back at the homestead there was a vintage car club visiting so that was an added bonus. Well worth the time to pop out here

Not historical, my whole family was very disappointed with the lack of preserved original features in this 'heritage' homestead. There were unconcealed fridges, electric stoves and other such modern appliances everywhere, and many of the rooms have been renovated and completely changed. The only preserved things were the oven and bath. Overall not worth visiting, however it has a very nice garden

Lovely old homestead. You can while away a few hours here, checking out the old house, the gardens, the out buildings and the lovely walks through the bush.
