Niutsuhime Shrine

Shinto shrine
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
Niutsuhime Shrine, a centuries-old Shinto sanctuary, can be accessed via two vermilion torii gates and a stepped bridge that spans across a pond. The shrine is considered to have significant religious value and there seem to be several ways to enter the grounds. However, the best view of the unique bridge can be enjoyed from the parking lot on the side. Visitors may encounter religious rites or ceremonies when visiting this place.
A sacred shrine with that gives a calm and peaceful experience. The autumn colours are still nice but past the peak.
Fundsim Wong — Google review
Surprised how many people were there when we visited on a random day! Bridge was closed for being slippery, there was a priest who wrote my shuin in the book for ¥500. They had a picnic area too and udon in a shop by the two big free parking lots.

Definitely worth the stop, it was fairly empty when we visited during a weekend in October. There seemed to be a religious rite of passage that was going on during that time. I think there’s two ways to get into shrine grounds, but the parking lot from the side gives you the best shot of the unique bridge in my opinion.
Vantageshots — Google review
A beautiful shrine that is usually quiet. Every season is beautiful, and in summer it is cooler than places at sea level, such as Wakayama City or Iwade City etc.

Kansai Cycle Sports Center

Mentioned on

Water & Amusement Parks
Kansai Cycle Sports Center is an amusement park centered around bicycles. It offers various cycling courses, a cycle coaster, and a playground for children. While it can be pricey due to limited activities, it is still a great place for families to enjoy together. Kids will surely have fun while adults can also appreciate the park's offerings. Overall, Kansai Cycle Sports Center is an excellent family-friendly destination worth checking out.
Just visit it yesterday. Not too crowded nor touristy but totally worth the visit. It’s so fun with many things to do. My family and son having such great time. All the staffs are very helpful and friendly. A must go for a family, young kids and young soul.

This was a really great place to come as a family my 4 year old Loved it
1 Minute With Me Shorts — Google review
Initially, I was going to give this place a 4 ⭐ review as I thought the ticket price was a little too high. However, as a keen cyclist, I enjoyed all the activities that were on offer. Most notably the cycling course and the various bikes you could ride. My family and I especially like the four-person bicycles and other interesting styles of bicycles you wouldn't normally get the chance to ride. My daughters also enjoyed the rollercoaster and the view from the bicycle parachute. At the start of the day, if you asked me if I would go back, I would have said 'No' due to the ticket price. That said, on the way home my wife asked me if I wanted to go back. As the family had such a good time I said 'I hope we can go back again in the future.' At this time the staff were preparing the swimming pool for the summer season, so I hope to return and try the swimming pool with my family. As a final note, the staff were really friendly and accommodating. That also added to an enjoyable day.
Mark Rumley — Google review
Brought my kids here to enjoy cycling and to try some of the more interesting alternate cycles. Quite fun! There are those that used hand pedal, and those that involved moving your body ,press down ,to move along. The 3 km cycle path is very challenging, there are a number of sharp turns, the uphill is tough if you did not gain enough momentum.
Joon Tiang Heng — Google review
It's a nice bicycle theme park on the outskirts of Sakai catering mostly for young families that offers outdoor lodging facilities as well.
Anton de Waal — Google review
That place that I didn't expect anything woke up my inner child, especially you can try to ride different kind of bicycles in a playground (mostly for kids but who cares?) it's a nice place to go with family or friends 👍

Imo Wetlands

Nature preserve
Nature & Parks
The Imo Wetlands is a stunning nature reserve that offers breathtaking sea views and picnic spots on a wooden boardwalk through the forest. The area is adorned with vibrant alpine wildflowers, creating a colorful and serene atmosphere. The place is perfect for hiking enthusiasts as it offers mountain trails, although caution must be taken as some areas can get narrow without railings. It also features cool wetlands, providing visitors with unique paths to explore and witness intriguing natural wonders.
Great and interesting place, especially if you're into hiking. The place is beautiful and peaceful. It is open 24/7 and there's a parking area. The mountain trail can get pretty narrow and there's no railing so if hiking is not something you're used to doing (like me!), please be careful. I didn't go all the way to the top because I was there by myself and didn't feel prepared for that, but I do intend to go back.
Patty Hirae — Google review
Very nice place especially in sunny weather , you can enjoy the very beautiful scenery of the flowers and autumn leaves, also if you would hike for 5 more minutes you will enjoy a very nice view of the city, you can continue the full hike until Fujimiwa mount , also if you are lucky enough and it is not cloudy you may see Fuji mountain
Mostafa Elmankabady — Google review

Usually a great place to get your forest bathing quota. Currently undergoing some long overdue rehabilitation to allow for indigenous species to recover, maintain, or expand into newly removed swathes of encroaching trees and plants that were less conducive to the ecosystem. Several paths in and around the bog to explore .
