Entopia by Penang Butterfly Farm is a contemporary destination that caters to families, offering interactive workshops and the opportunity to witness live butterflies and other insects. The attraction boasts an array of diverse animals besides butterflies, making it a valuable educational experience for visitors. One of their noteworthy experiences is the "Bug Exploration", where instructors assist in exploring stuck insects and millipedes. The up-close encounters with butterflies are also a highlight, providing an unforgettable experience for guests.
A beautiful, interesting and educational place to visit. Right next door to the Escape park, it is a pretty and fun way to spend a few hours. Lots of butterflies, different types of insects and creepy crawlies with more than six legs. Well worth a visit.

Great place for young & old . Beautiful butterfly area with lots of plants and even a waterfall and pond . At 3 pm they let you set free a new butterfly into the the place. Also have other live animal / insect/ reptile exhibits to see. Has a cafe serving coffee, cold drinks and fast food . A shop at the end. Informative , educational and interactive. A brilliant place to come for 2-3 hours ! Highly recommended!

Place is quite lovely and fun for those nature lovers and inquisitive. Kids would love this place. Its all A-Z about butterfly, and some other small animals too. Parking readily available. The garden where all the butterflies are in an open space garden, if it rains, it would've spoilt that leg of the trail.. toilet's clean too
Ili Shazwani Mohamed Mansor (Elysz) โ€” Google review
If you like butterflies you are bound to enjoy this place. If you like other creepy crawlies aka spiders and snakes you will love it more. If you like science and want to know more about how these wondrous creations breed, survive and thrive then your day will surely be made. Well worth the drive up north in Penang and the cost of the ticket. Note to the management: please clean your loos and keep the floors dry. They are a disgrace.

Nice place to visit. Warning: it is a bit hot inside. Lots of live insects, reptiles, and arachnids in enclosures...and ducks. Lots of beautiful butterflies of course! Very pretty arrangement of plants throughout. Good education displays for children.
Suzanne McLean โ€” Google review
Insect and nature lovers are recommended to visit this is place and it's affordable. It's a beautiful paradise and definitely knowledgeable to learn about insects and other animals in there. Although one part of the section was closed, but the rest were amazing. Cafes are available for lunch grabs. You may find many affable butterfly species fluttering around you.
Khisha Papy โ€” Google review
Other than butterflies, there are different types of flora and fauna that could be found here, so I recommended for those who travel with kids and elderly. However, as a butterfly garden, I actually expect to be surrounded by the butterfly when entering the garden. Somehow, the butterflies are kept in a small room inside the garden. Staff is friendly and helpful, and service is fast even during the weekend. In terms of the concept and layout, it is great but lacking of maintenance as the glasses of the exhibit were quite mouldy that affected visitors sight.
Liz Pui โ€” Google review
Beautiful place. Enjoyed looking at the butterflies in the outdoor enclosure, which also had reptiles and ducks as well. I do wish some of the other bigger animals (ducks and tortoises) had bigger or separate enclosures. Felt really bad for the butterfly that was trying to fly out of the pond, maybe a big stone would be nice for the insects to climb? Indoor was air conditioned and had other insects, reptiles, and amphibians. Spent a few hours walking around, make sure to bring water, it's pretty humid in the outdoor enclosure

The park is divided into an indoor area and an outdoor area. When we arrived, it was drizzling on and off so the indoor area (being smaller as compared to outdoor area) is quite crowded and cramped. The outdoor area is a bit humid (possibly due to the rainy weather) but has more lanes and alleyways to disperse the crowd about so its more bearable than the indoor area. There is a slightly enclosed area where there are more eggs, caterpillars and butterflies, hence the butterflies would readily just land on any parts of your body and clothes, which is quite a novel experience! Do note the outdoor area is only netted on top so if the rain was any bigger, its quite impossible to explore around. After exiting the outdoor area, there are a few more indoor parts of the park to explore, mainly above the travelators where one can learn more about butterflies and such. And an area below where when we visited, there was a booth setup to provide (different designs, colors will cost differently) spray painted temporary tattoos of a variety of designs which was very appealing to little kids. In general, its a place recommended if you have inquisitive kids.
Adeline Chew โ€” Google review
Bought my tickets via Klook. Although the tickets counter and checking is fast. I would say 50% outdoor & 50% indoor. The place is being maintained just accordingly. So many types of insects here especially. And several reptiles. My son enjoyed the visit mostly. There are several interactive elements although i did not try them out fully. I would say it was a mediocre place, yet it is still worth the time & money.

Very good place for children to learn & enjoy . Also good for Adults . I visited in 2010 and recently in 2023 , many sections were added and it becomes much more interesting. On the other hand I noticed that there is less butterflies now than 1e years ago. I don't know why but really looking forward to see more improvement regarding this nice place. Thanks to all

Great place to visit with kids, can easily spend half a day here. Loads of butterflies but there's a giant indoor section after it with lots of other animals and insects. Getting a grab to go here is easy but getting one to return could be an issue. Be prepared to wait or pay extra to non grab taxis
Ernest Lai โ€” Google review
This is a pleasant way to spend some time observing not only butterflies but all variety of creepy, crawly creatures! The park is well laid out and creative in its presentation. It seems quite popular for adults and children alike. That being said, don't be surprised to find a number of school tours occurring during the weekdays during your visit. There is something there for everyone to enjoy!
James Don โ€” Google review
Price is high 80RM for my experience. Many kinds of butterflies but in exhibition area, just few butterflies you see flying. Anyway many kinds of insects. The park is small so it takes 1 to 2 hours to explore carefully. Transport is inconvenient. I canโ€™t take grab, taxi driver ask 20RM for nearly 4km to Hard rock hotel while the price on grab is 5RM. Itโ€™s not good as the tourists city. Bus station 200m from this park.

Wonderful place to visit for family. It has more than just butterfly. There are many insects and animals there too. Best experience we have is the"Bug Exploration". The instructor, Melissa and her colleagues helps us with the experience with the stuck insects and millipedes. Also, the experience getting close to butterflies are just wonderful too. And kudos to the person in charge that helps us with the best experiences here. By the way, this is our second visit here and will come again in the future.

For me personally I love it! Been here when it just opened and now here I am again with my baby ๐Ÿฅฐ They have a lot of activities like butterfly release session, touch a bug experience and many more interactive activities. The landscape is also beautiful and well maintained. There are a lot of butterflies species too! Bring your kids here theyโ€™ll love it โค๏ธ They have surau and nursing room too. For me, the price is on a bit high side but so worth it!!

Beautiful and educational. The wide variety of plants and beautiful butterfly are wonderful to experience. There are all sorts of creepy crawlies to look at in addition to the butterflies which was great for a bug lover like me. Bring water as it gets hot, but bonus the butterflies will land on you if you are sweating as it provides them much needed minerals.
Mindy Parker โ€” Google review
Very cool place for those interested in learning about insects and reptilians. Some parts are outdoors and the last section (beetles and butterflies) is all indoors. A very family friendly place. It was not too busy when we came on a weekday. One can easily spend 2-4 hours in here. Not a lot of places to rest so be prepared to stand and read a lot.

Fun! Have outdoor and indoor activities. You will be surprised when you go inside. Worth the money. Super fun and full of facts/ education for kids. Nice interior an d exciting Well done.
Zulaikha Othman โ€” Google review
Brought my family there recently and we went pretty early but sad to say it was raining heavily when we arrived. The staff told us it was no point going in during rain as it will be like open air also inside. So we waited and thankfully there is a cafe and we ordered some hot drinks and snacks while waiting for the rain to stop. Thankfully rain stopped after 1 hour! We went inside and overall it was a pretty fun experience for my kids. Even though it is supposed to be a butterfly farm, there are a lot of other exhibits as well such as various insects and also reptiles. We slowly walk and enjoy all the exhibits and also there is an open area inside where you can see the butterflies flying around. Due to rain we did not manage to see much butterflies but still manage to view a few close ups. There are quite a lot of things to enjoy inside and I think it is worth the visit. At least my kids told me they really enjoyed the trip. It took us about 2 hours to fully complete the whole walkabout. I think it is a good idea to go early in the morning because you get more available parking slots and the weather is not too hot yet. When we left after or around lunch time, the parking spaces already all taken up. Personally I have visited this place a few times since my childhood and I have seen good progress and how they continue to revamp and make it nicer. Good job!

Went on an excursion here so only had an hour. But it was perfect for us, got to see some lovely colourful butterflies, which landed on us at times, got some great pictures. Had trouble finding the way out, we were told to follow the paw prints, but they seemed to be everywhere.

Really great place with heaps of areas to explore. Make sure you go with at least 2.5-3 before closing time as it takes that long to go through the whole thing esp if you want to read and learn with all the displays. Well looked after animals and nicely displayed. Nice microscopic displays of butterfly eggs etc. note there is fun stuff at the end of get there well before closing time. Sad we missed out on the silk making as it was too late. Also note you may have issues getting a Grab back to the city as itโ€™s far away. Worth a visit.
Cecilia Wong โ€” Google review
A really cool experience coming here! I think itโ€™s very suitable for children to come and enjoy this place. Itโ€™s really big and it took about 3 hours to walk through the whole thing. There were snakes, spiders, all kinds of frogs and lizards along with the many many butterflies! They seem really well taken care of and it was an educational experience going through the many rooms. It does get quite hot in the butterfly farm though, so be prepared with your fans to help you get through those few sections - especially if you have younger ones. But the second half of the farm would be all air conditioned! The price is quite expensive in my opinion (RM59) but the place is kept very well so itโ€™s up to your discretion on whether to visit! Enjoy! :)

This is the coolest butterfly atrium I have ever been to, and I am a museum nerd. Their exhibits were exceptional and the all of the animals were happy and healthy. There were countless educational boards explaining the area, and so much to see! I recommend spending a couple hours here at least. Totally worth the visit!

Beautiful farm where thousands free-flying butterflies roam in a glass dome with many species of plants, insects and reptiles. There are waterfalls, pond and cave. Good interactive workshop with many activities to do and learn. Entry fee is a bit steep but the plus point is it's a re-entry ticket with no time limit. Imagine bringing a family of 6. RM65 for adult with MyKad.

Great experience visiting Entopia! They given in depth knowledge on butterflies which really helped us in our understanding of butterflies. We also get to interacti with the scorpion & bearded dragon lizard by holding them on our palm & touching them gently. The buttflies are really active in the garden, canโ€™t really take clear photos of all the different kinds of butterflies but Iโ€™m glad that I still managed to took some good shots! Overall, it was worth visiting! We gained more understanding on the butterflies & seen many other reptiles & insects (: ๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿœ๐Ÿ•ท๏ธ๐Ÿฆ†๐Ÿ›๐Ÿชฑ

Enjoyable + educational experience for adults and children alike. Loved the petting part. Some of the displays are too high for many kids - get a small platform? The staff was nice and informative. Shop was OK and nice items for sale. Some of the displays, waterfall, etc. need fixing.

Very nice, the butterflies were everywhere and it was a relatively large place. The nature was beautiful and it was also nice that there were two sections- the outdoor garden and indoor discovery center. Would be very good for kids. Inside, there were a couple popcorn stalls and a cafe at the entrance/exit.

Penang Batik Factory, established in 1973, offers a fascinating tour of the factory where visitors can witness skilled artisans creating stunning textile art. The small cottage industry allows these artisans to make a living while tourists gain an appreciation for the craft. Each artist specializes in their own unique style. The vast outdoor area provides a clear view of the entire batik-making process, with explanations at every step.
Excellent place. In the workshop at the back you can see some of the artisans at work. The explanation is a bit rushed, but still quite informative. The retail outlet at front has a whole range of beautiful, colourful clothes and cloth for multiple use. They are of high quality. The store is well laid out. Prices are not too bad either.

Possibly the best Batik Factory I have ever visited, and I've been to a few. Here the whole process can be seen in the vast area outside. All parts of the process are explained and can be readily seen and followed. There is a large shop which has a complete range of beautiful goods for sale. I never felt pressured to buy anything here, which makes a change. I will add that we DID buy some goods. The factory is located in the north-western corner of Penang Island. Tour guides will undoubtedly know it. Well worth a visit if you are touring the island.

My fourth visit to the Batik factory in 14 years as an internationaltourist. I love the designs and colours. Have bought tablecloths and sarongs each time. I find them a bit expensive but as it is all hand made it is worth paying the price. Their factory tours explain how the batik is made.

A good place to shop for batik. Find the short tour on batik making is fascinating and educating. This traditional craftsmanship using wax and dye for decorating on a piece of large sheet of cloth are found similarly done in other parts of the world like Indonesia, China, Japan, India, South America etc. Exceptionally interesting for those who love anything relating to fashion studying and apparel making. Free entry. Large space and well lit. Parkings available. Do come if you visit Penang.

A good place to visit to see how hand crafted batik is made. Has variety of batik products to choose from. A bit too far to visit from Georgetown, unless you are a big fan of hand crafted batik, otherwise you can get similar ones in Georgetown with cheaper price, of course may not be similar hand made quality.

This is a MUST VISIT place in Penang when in a group. Established nearly 40 years ago, Mr Phua the humble co-owner and his staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. Tried our hand at batik painting. Was very educational. Bought some beautiful hand painted clothing with lovely colours. Prices are indeed reasonable considering the kind of craftsmanship that goes into the batik prints. A heritage Malaysians should be proud off and should be promoted domestically, more widely by the government and ministry of tourism.

Teluk Bahang Dam is a remarkable sight located near Penang National Park. The dam wall, nearly 60m high and 700m in length, was constructed in 1999 to ensure the island's water supply. Visitors can access footpaths across the top and enjoy scenic picnics, walks, or cycling in the surrounding countryside. Additionally, nearby Ghee Hup Nutmeg Farm offers tours of the farm where visitors can learn about nutmeg cultivation and purchase bottled nutmeg mixture.
A good place for relaxing and convoy, nothing much to do here except walking around the dam. The walk-in close at 7PM. Be careful though parking aside from road as vehicle moving fast.

We were going to go to the national park for new years day but the entrance fee was quite expensive so we came here instead - what a beautiful place, it was so quiet, we were pretty much the only people here. A truly beautiful place to come for a walk. It was quite fascinating to read all the information boards here. There are toilets here that were open. Plenty of places to sit and take in the magnificent views.

The uphill winding climb from the entopia bus stop is not the most pleasant for the unfit as there are no pathways so it's either walk on the road or uneven grass. However for those that want to exercise, the feeling of getting to the top and seeing a beautiful dam is like a mini-hike (especially for those who cannot complete the Penang hill heritage trail). As a tourist best as a 30 minute detour between Entopia or before an afternoon in the national park.

Amazing! Adventurous! Beautiful! The place itself are amazing and the staffs are all friendly! Although the price is quite pricy, still, it still worth every penny. Highly recommended as you will never regret spending your time and money over there. Also to mention, if you take base camp package (2 days 1 night), it is much more worth it compared to normal 1 day. You get the unlimited access to the escape place (during the staying) and the camp are already set up for you. Fun day! Book your tickets in advance for extra value. Come early to beat the rush. Many activities and fun rides all included in the entry ticket. Be prepared for physical activity, you gotta mentally prepare yourself for adventure haha. When you research Penang, one of the first things you will come across is definitely #Escape Penang. I spent a full day here, thinking it was a place worth seeing. It was a complete waste of time and disappointment. Unfortunately, I encountered an old, neglected, dirty and unsafe facility. Although I arrived on a Thursday, there were queues for many activities. The activities only run at certain hours and there is absolutely not enough information. I have come across people falling many times and it just depends on your luck and agility that you don't get injured. Food prices at the facility are also very high and you will pay 10 ringgit for the lockers where you will put your belongings. You should also take precautions to protect yourself from various insects and spiders.

Purchasing tickets two months in advance is the cheapest option. Prices are steep for last-minute and same-day purchases. Personally, I had a great time. When I visited the Monkey Forest, I opted for level 3, and since I don't have acrophobia, I thoroughly enjoyed it. However, for those who do, even level 1 might be challenging. Also, be careful as you can get blisters on your hands. I'm currently having a tough time with them! ๐Ÿ˜… Have fun and enjoy your trip!

A lot to say about this that canโ€™t all go in a review. Lockers are 10RM. Queues for the longest two rides are subsequently the longest. Go straight for the worldโ€™s longest rollercoaster when you get there, grab a harness at the bottom and wait for the chairlift. It may not be open but just say youโ€™ll wait, this will be shorter than if you wait during the day. Queue for the water slide is not as long. Staff were fine with us taking our own food in. Lots of mosquitoes so bring bug spray. The best harness exercise is โ€œflying lemursโ€ found in the trees at the back of the park, massive zip lines and the tallest rope bridge Iโ€™ve ever seen. Overall a very full fun day.
Rufus โ€” Google review
Recommend going on weekends for shorter queuing times at each ride and going as early as possible at 10am so you can enjoy all of the rides. Leave 3.5 hours each for wet and dry rides with 1 hour to eat (adjustable according to whether you prefer wet or dry rides more) so you can go on all of the rides at least once. Afternoon queue times will be longer as there are more people. Very fun and worthy experience! Buy online as early as possible for discounts.

We researched prior to our visit, as we were traveling SEAsia, we watched a few videos via YouTube and we were so happy with our experience. We did 4.5 hours and could have easily done more, but we had other plans that day too. The staff were helpful, professional and well trained. Fun was the major aim, but the importance of safety was clearly important. Lockers were secure, cheap and straightforward to use, we were able to stay in the shade for a majority of the time and the rides were varied, well maintained and exciting. Will happily go again.

Spectacular experience! Enjoyed the adrenaline rush of zip line coaster and 1.1m water slide. Monkey business level 2 were challenging but we made it! Had the most amazing memories with my friends. Best to visit during weekdays as the crowd were not too crazy. Staff were friendly too. Canโ€™t wait to visit again in the near future ๐Ÿค— and will definitely bring a sports gloves to protect our hands!

Good fun. however, the instruction isnot that clear. Like we first did the climbing activity with sport outfit. Then we changed for water park. Unfortunately for some activity you need cloth and shoes on. So we had to change again. Despite that it is an absolutely fun day . One more thing to mention is the food that inside is only limited to A&W and itโ€™s oily. Hence, itโ€™s not recommended to eat.

Awesome place for families to spend time and strengthen their bond. We enjoyed Monkey Business the most. Good activity to increase teamwork, trust, togetherness and to conquer one's fear. Wear a pair of aqua shoes and you will be able to enjoy both dry & wet park.

One of the best park I visited in Malaysia. Staffs are well trained and provide good service and friendly with smiling face. The park are well maintained and safety is priority to them. The activity are fun and really challenging and exciting. Prices includes all the basic items for the activity. Locker price is reasonable. Food only with A & W and slightly pricey. Most places are shaded with trees. But it is still recommended to cover yourself with sun blocks cream as some activity are not covered. Overall a great experiences for me and my family. Keep up the good work and maintain this well!

Had a fantastic time here. Came with a friend. There are so many activities to do both wet and dry. Would recommend obviously to dress appropriately for both. Bring a towel!! I forgot mine and although you can rent there I ended up drying with a t shirt. Extreme park activities range from easy to hard and appropriate for all ages and skills Wet park activities are similar although I found most of the younger participants were more extreme and daring than the older ones. All in all a fantastic place to go to when in pennang and have a day to kill. Be mindful of the queues. Yes some are excessive but you can always just go elsewhere and come back to that attraction when the queues die down.

A must see and 'do'....even if you don't like heights like me! So much to choose from. My son had a blast, and I challenged my fear of heights. Arrive at opening time 10am to make the most of all the attractions. Set in the jungle, it is truly amazing.

Had great and exhilarating fun here, can come here if you always wanted to try extreme type activities also being surrounded by greenery of the rain forest. There are two sections, for dry and wet activities each. Tickets are to be bought online and before the day you enter, need to register your face as to enter the premise is based on facial recognition system. For food availibilty, there is only A&W available. Facilities such as lockers with cashless payment option and renting wears are available. Please read the rules and regulation from their website before coming. It will help you plan better.

An amazing day out as backpackers! Yes this was a more expensive excursion but compared to UK theme/water parks, it was worth every penny! We arrived at opening and stayed until close, really making the most of the whole experience. The staff was informative, friendly and helpful, especially when I got stuck on the high ropes! All the activities were so fun and incredibly safe! A highly enjoyable day with fun for all the family!

There are so many activities here and itโ€™s highly recommended to come before the opening time at 10am to start waiting for entrance. Pre plan on which ride/activities you want to try. Get a locker first as itโ€™s limited. Also would recommend that you queue up for the Zip Coaster once you enter as the line and wait for it is the longest.
