Visiting these caves is a surreal experience. The caves are easy to access for reasonably fit person with about 50-60 steps. (Senior citizens should be careful) The cave itself has 2 large rooms with sunlight coming through a hole in the roof. It is peaceful inside.

This is a really good place to visit. Well I was a little tired when we arrived, but this is worth it. This cave has made been there since 1935. Also I came there at 4 pm so it's really deserted and quite, almost no people there. The photos are amazing, I love the view, but when there's no people around it feels scary because it's so dark inside. Also there are so many monkeys there. Good place. 👍👍

This is great to visit if you're going to give merit, esp. if your Buddhist, nevertheless, served as an adventure. Great walking experience and be able to learn the history. It's much better if you have a private tourist guide who can speak Thai & English for better understanding .

Temple-like cave with a reclining Buddha and many other Buddhist representations. Many natural light pits and artificial lighting give a nice atmosphere. There are steep steps right at the start to access the cave. You need to park - for free - at the Temple nearby and entrance fee is 10baht per person plus ride ticket 15b - whether your are thai or a foreigner (vehicules are not allowed up the mountain to the cave entrance). You can also feed fish at the temple in exchange of a donation of your choice (should be 10b/bottle)

Great place to visit! Loved this cave! To get here, you'll need to go to the temple nearby to get a songthaew ride to the cave entrance. When there, the walk to the cave is quite easy, but then, the stairs into the cave are very steep. They're going down into the cave, so that's not a big problem. Worry about those stairs for when you're going out. The cave itself is really beautiful, with a hole in the ceiling where sunlight passes through. The main hall is quite big. There's another room which also has a hole where the sunlight comes through. You can walk deeper into the cave but it suddenly ends somewhere.

Nice place to visit, if you have some time to spend in the area. Entrance fee is 10 baht per person - you can drive up to the hill and then take a special stair to the cave (the other one is crowded with dogs). Cave is huge, but has only two areas - so half an hour is probably enough time to spend there. Staff speaks English.

Visited 22 2 2024.. Too hot for monkeys, although I did see some on the way down and on the way into town. Great cave for making merit , buying holy relics, many Buddha and my personal guardian Lersi por fae. Steps can be a bit slippy and of uneven height, so go slow and use the hand rails where provided .Peaceful and spiritual. You can hear and see bats, and it looks like their messages on the floor. Nice shops for refreshments and souvenirs. You can drive, right up to the ticket office. The attendant didn't bother with the 25bht charge, and it's 10bht to go to the caves. Worth it

Super hot during summer. Need to pay for the car 25 baht for going up. The cave is not long but steep. Recommend to visit if you have time or skip is also ok.

You need to be fit to run up and down the many steps. At the bottom of the steps you will find a large gold sleeping Buddha, along the way down there is also small statues. If you scout around the area you will see many monkeys. There are small shops with drinks and some places to eat. There is a large pond with plenty of fish.

Really enjoyed my visit I parked at the temple and took the small bus up the hill as I wasn't sure if you can drive up but it looks like you can? It wasn't expensive 50b for a return trip so no big deal really the entrance to the cave was only 20b again no problem and there's an air condition room you can sit in and relax after selling drinks and snacks ect it's one of the best caves I've visited around the area.

Fantastic place to stop by when heading to the major tourist destination like Hua Hin or Cha Am as you’ll pass it if you’re travelling by car. Watch out for pesky monkeys around the car park area. Theres a taxi service that’ll take you from the car park straight to the ticket office for 30 Baht. This also includes the return ride back to the car park. Well worth it as it’s a fairly long walk up to the ticket office and you may struggle with the heat of the sun and those monkeys that can be quite aggressive. Once inside the cave, you’ll be amazed and won’t stop taking photo/videos as it’s so beautiful!!

Wow... A hidden gem in the heart of Phetchaburi. A few steep steps to get down but once at the bottom it's like an alladins cave of Buddhist statues etc. Only 10 baht entrance fee which is an absolute bargain

It is a short walk up to the stairs that lead down to the cave entrance. The cave has two large chambers, both with a large open hole in the ceiling. It can produce nice effects when the sun sends light into the hollow rooms. An interesting visit without the big sun effect, as it was quite cloudy that day. A challenge is to get sharp pictures in the dark, and a powerful flash to illuminate is recommended, which I did not have with me on this day. There is a large car park in the area outside the ticket office, and it cost 10 baht to visit the cave.

Feel serenity in the cave. There were many Buddhas and a door print of Buddha. Beautiful cave with an open sky above.

An amazing place to visit with golden Buddhas in the cave. It does make you wonder back in the day how they engineered or placed these religious items here.

Very large and interesting cave and temple. Surely worth a stop if you are traveling past on your way south. Several rooms to look at. Nice staff to assist with information 👌

A short cable ride going to the top. The pathway going to the temples are wide and passable but make sure to prepare for a long walk up to the top. An overlooking sight of the town awaits you up. It is a nice view to see but prepare an umbrella or anything to protect you from the heat of the sun. Along the pathway, be careful because there are monkeys. Make sure to keep your hands free of valuable things when you walk thru the pathway.

I loved the visit here. It was a ton of fun to explore the ancient temples and old castle. The history was way cool to learn about as well. Price is 150 baht if you are a foreigner, but if you look Thai or asian, you can get in for 20 baht.

An interesting palace. It is quite a nice experience to visit and understand the living conditions of king. There is no photo allowed within the palace and no shoe is allowed too.

Phra Nakhon Khiri Historical Park or Khao Wang (Palace Hill) was a former royal residence constructed during the reign of King Rama IV. It is spread out over three separate hilltops with panoramic views of Phetchaburi and the surrounding countryside. The buildings have a mix of Thai, European and Chinese designs. King Rama IV and King Rama V used it as a summer place and a place to entertain important guests We can hike up the hill or take a short cable car ride. The entrance fee is 230 baht per person inclusive of the cable car ride.

Palace is interesting but they could provide more historic explanations or insights. Nearly no information signs. Cable car ride was fun but they will keep you waiting pretty long times on unbusy days for a ride up or down. Staff is pretty demotivated and uncommonly unfriendly for Thai standards. Even the local monkey was more polite and welcoming. Overall was a good visit, but many things that could be improved.

Fantastically preserved royal palace on the hill top. Check the cable car is running before you visit or it is a long long hike up the mountain. Remember to dress decorously as usual with palaces - covered shoulders etc and you cannot take photos inside - but the views are spectacular over the city below, and imagine the King Rama IV hosting diplomatic missions.

I enjoyed my visit here. Walk up and down the steps among the plants, flowers at the beautiful jars all kept in a perfect condition.

Really great place with so much of interest here. The Historic Park can be accessed by a short cable car ride and is actually spread across three summits along the hillside requiring some uphill walking between each. Try to go early, it's very tiring walking this site in 31C heat. What is now the Museum was previously the Palace of a King Rama IV who eatablished this place in 1859, no photos allowed inside. You should visit all parts of this site, the Phra Kaew Noi Temple, Jatuwech Pariphat Hall and the Great White Pagoda. I love the way these buildings have been laid out in the beautiful surroundings of Shrubs and Tropical vegetation. The Cable Car costs 50 Baht return ticket and entrance to the Historic Park is 150 Baht, which includes the Museum/Palace. I travelled up from Hua Hin for the day, but this one place alone was worth the trip.

This is a must-to-go place if you are in the area. Rama IV's palace is located high on the mountain with a magnificent view over the entire area. You take the cable car up here, and then it's a walk around between the various buildings that are spread over the entire mountain. The trip is not for people with poor walking. In the past there were many wild monkeys which were a bit of a nuisance. They are now gone from the mountain, there are only a few at the foot of the mountain. For some inexplicable reason, photography inside the palace itself is strictly prohibited, foreigners also have to pay 5 times as much to see the palace. This which costs a star. When foreigners have to pay so much extra, maybe you could use some of the money to maintain the buildings, which are crying out for paint

This summer palace was settled in Kind Rama the fourth 160 years ago on the hill and become the iconic tourist spot of Prtchburi province in present day. The easiest way to go up the hill by the tram cost 80 baht for Thai and 250 baht for non-Thai. It worth to visit here in the morning and late afternoon to avoid the heat in summer.

Wow - what a museum. To my understanding, the place was primarily used by His Majesty Rama 4. You can tour the museum (no photos) to see how his house was decorated. You can walk over to two different wants along the mountain. There’s a cable car to the top, so you don’t have to walk up. Beautiful grounds and lots of walking around the top to see the buildings and the sites. Enjoy! #travelthailand

Enjoyed our visit - although there was a bit of a wait for the funicular. You can walk around on the grounds but there isn’t much background info onsite. No photos / videos allowed inside.

Beautiful place to visited. We visited inside the palace on top of the mountain. Staffs are there to directed you to each room. Lovely view up on the top.

You can use electric tram to go to the museum/palace. The palace is a bit small for foreigners, but it's very beautiful. The walkway around the hill is bumpy but scenery is great.

Worth a visit, 150 thb to get in but it's a big site with plenty of good views. Quite steep in places so you need to be quite fit and take or buy water to keep hydrated.

The place is nice but not under good maintenance. Exhibition is not updated. Was here before 10 years ago. At that time, it was more impressive than nowadays

A very interesting palace built for Rama 5 in 1915 by a German architect. The interior and exterior is all of German style. You can go inside and walk around and see the king’s and queen’s bedrooms and the prince’s and princess’s bedrooms the toilets and king’s office. Great place for a quick stop off.

Interesting disused palace, a former holiday home of the previous King, built in European style. It is inside a military base, so you have to leave your passport at the gate and collect when you leave. The soldiers were friendly so I didn't feel intimidated. The staff at the palace were friendly, and you only need to make a small donation to look round as there is no set ticket price. Make sure you dress modestly as it is a site connected to royalty. There is not much left inside the palace, but it is special as you are free to explore. No photos allowed inside.

Don't expect much and you will not be disappointed.The grounds were well maintained . The furniture has mostly been removed , no paintings on the walls .There are information boards explaining some of the history and what individual rooms were used for .Entrance IS FREE.there were no monkeys .You will be asked to leave your passport at the security gate . ( 2 of us and left one ID ) .No photos are allowed to be taken inside.

Considering this 110-year-old palace was by turns used as a barracks and a school, it has been well restored. The combination of German architecture and art deco interior are interesting and in places beautiful, though the cherubs on the staircase look a tad malevolent. Sadly, photography indoors is now forbidden.

Located inside a military compound, you will need to hand over an ID to receive an entry permit. This is the House of the family of Rama V which construction started in 1910, the year he died, and finished 6 years later. It's not opulent for our time but must've been quite the villa back then. You can visit most of it including the prince and the Queen bedrooms. Taking pictures inside is forbidden but not really enforced. Outside the school field trip which left quite hastly we were the sole visitors. The paint really needs refreshing and the exhibits are quite damaged. This place could still be a must see if it received more love.

Originally called "Wang Ban Pun", the European style palace is situated to the south of the town. The construction began in 1909 at the command of King Rama V to be his rainy season palace. A German architect, Mr. Karl Deurring designed the palace, while Admiral HRH Prince Boriphat of Nakhonsawan and HRH Prince Damrong supervised the construction. The construction was completed in 1916 in the reign of King Rama VI. The place was used to welcome and accommodate state visitors during the reign of King Rama VI.

Small but very pretty palace. Free entry if you want to wander around the area outside, but 20 THB entry if you want to see the interior. Please note no photos are allowed inside. The interiors are very pretty though and worth a short stop to see.

Beautiful small resort on a very quiet large beach. Plenty of other bars and restaurants within walking distance. Pool looked really good. We booked 2 1-bedroom garden facing bungalows. PROS: Quiet location; strong WiFi; very clean welcoming rooms with small fridge and kettle; large bathroom with separate shower stall, plenty of counter space. Soft bedding and duvet, and variety of pillows. CONS: The air con in both our rooms made very noisy whooshing sounds even on the lowest fan setting, and started blowing out ice chunks. Woke us up a few times in the night. Probably just need maintenance. One staff started sweeping with a stiff broom right outside our window at 430am. It was so noisy I woke up and peeked my head out the door to ask him to stop. 🤦🏻‍♀️

Hotel is located right on the beach. Nice view. The hotel has been around for many years. Rooms are not new but still in acceptable condition. Breakfast is good. You can order from the menu.

Avoid. We booked a day in advance, drove 7 hours to be told the room was not available. The owner just laughed at us.

Good Thai food and beaches. Very quite place that is suitable for couples. Renovated rooms. Only one con which is mosquito (the resort did provide the repellent).

Nice clean resort. Beach great. Been here several times. Always been a great place. This time we had a villa on the the beach, very good clean and new. Sorry to say had evening meal there, not good , I would say poor. Breakfast was average. Do hope they can improve.

Good room, nice service, and delicious breakfast! The garden villa for 3 people is spacious, clean, and super comfy. The location is at the beachfront but it is quiet and not so crowded. Thus, just only a 2-hour drive from Bangkok. Perfect for a family trip or if you looking for a quiet area to get real relaxation! Definitely will come back again 🥰.

Super friendly staff, nice and clean room facing the ocean, great breakfast with fresh fruit, omelette cooked to your liking, really good pancakes (much better than Sheraton!), clean and nice pool and poolarea right next to the beach which is long and lovely and clean.

Solid midrange resort on a quiet, local beach just two hours from Bangkok. Family villas are huge and worth the price. Staff are friendly and helpful. Large, clean pool and playground for kids. This is a very local resort, don't expect fluent English.

This site is dominated by the impressive large white stone stuppa. You can get into the inner area of this stuppa by looking for one of the open access doors from the surrounding corridors. The Temple Assembly Hall is also open with Buddha Statues placed so that people can "make merit" adding thin gold leaf strips to the Statues. The inner four sides corridor surrounding the Stuppa is lined with Gold Buddha statues behind glass cases. However the glass cases are very mucky and really need to be cleaned.

Wat Mahathat is a must to visit when you go to Phetchaburi the old town. There are many unique features such as the Prang Pagoda with five tips, and one of the most beautiful mural paintings in the country, and much more to see.

Ancient Thailand find its most beautiful temple here. Please don't miss it. It's almost always free of tourist so you will have the temple for yourself.

Crowd of people here, the famous temple. I love stucco architecture absolutely attractive things. Not much car park lot. Locate in the center of city.

The white temple is more beautiful from a distance since paint is coming of, but the active temple in front of it shows religious ritusls like lighting a flower candle and letting it float.

Beautiful historic temple, with 4 buildings from the 13th century built in Khmer style. There are also more modern Thai style buildings in the complex. It was free to enter, and although the dogs bark when you enter they won't cause you any further problems if you speak calmly with them. There are also free toilets here.

This place is worth a brief visit because whilst it isn't a large site, the ruins here are of historic importance. They date back to 13th Century Khmer culture. Each of the buildings have information boards (English Translation) describing the architecture of each Tower, all of them contructed using laterite. A more modern Temple surrounds this ancient site, but you're dissuaded from entering by "dog warning" signs.

This temple had the history about the gate of the pavilion. The story said that the soldiers from the opposite side tried to get inside the pavilion. The used the ax attacking the pavilion gate but could not be successful. The army quit and left the temple.

As all the other Buddhist temples are always worth a visit. Remember to remove your shoes before entering and having a look. Some very old paintings, so I used my DSLR to capture these, my phone camera did not do it justice.

The temple’s alluring teak wood architecture lends it an enduring charm, inviting visitors into a journey through time. Delving into its history, the door reveals a gripping tale of resilience. During a Burmese invasion, soldiers attempted to breach it, driven by the desire to access the treasures stored by the last Thai king of the Ayutthaya era. Despite wielding an axe, they only managed to create a hole, approximately the size of a feet 38, as evidenced in my video. Below the hole, a distinctive crack runs down the door, underscoring its steadfast strength. According to the monk, the treasures within remained untouched, believed to be under the protection of the Buddha enshrined within the temple. Adding to its historical significance, Wat Yai Sunnawaram became a temporary sanctuary for King Rama IX upon his passing, housing his revered remains before the solemn ceremony of cremation. This temple stands as both a guardian of the past and a witness to the contemporary rites of royalty. Exploring this temple was a true privilege, and the narratives shared took me on a captivating journey, immersing me in a world from nearly 300 years ago. The depth of history and cultural tales added an extra layer of appreciation to the visit.

This temple look so clean, all houses are renovated, i guess, it's a temple for girl monks, because I only saw them there. Very cool architecture.

This is one of the oldest and most beautiful Temples in Phetchaburi dating back to the Ayutthaya Kingdom period. Lovely old wooden buildings make up a part of this site. The main enclosed Temple compound mustn't be missed, only one way in through a "spray" doorway for decontamination. Inside the main Temple make sure they close the tall wooden door so you can see the beautiful guilded artwork and carving.

The elegant and valuable art in the Ayutthaya period combined with Phetchaburi makes it an outstanding work. There is a history of every piece of work. Nowadays, there is an art gallery by a team of passionate and aspiring artists who take pictures of knowledge and historical stories for those who are interested in learning science and art in the past.

Well-preserved ancient temple from Ayutthaya period. Less people than I expected. Must visit when you come to Phetchaburi.

Wat Yai Suwannaram Worawihan, or commonly known as Wat Yai, is a third-class royal monastery of the second grade, Voraviharn. Previously it was called "Wat Noi Pak Tai". It is assumed that the establishment of the temple took place when Ayutthaya was the capital city of Thailand. In one of the royal letters written by Phrabat Somdet Phra Chulachomklao Chaoyuhua(King Rama V of Rattanakosin Era), the king mentioned that "the mural painting and other artistic works in the ordination hall must have been created more than 300 years ago" (400 years until the present time). Etymologically speaking, Wat Yai got its name from the vast area of 20 Rai.

I have to find a chance to go to this place everytime when comeback to Phetchaburi province. Inside the temple is filled with many old and precious things such as old Buddhist churches, murals, ancient Dharma pulpit shaped like movable throne located in temple hall, etc. Suggest that if visiting Phetchaburi you must not miss this temple.

Beautiful Thai temple set on top of a hill and the surrounding grounds. There’s a very large butter image on the top and worth the climb to the top. There’s also a cave in the temple grounds and it is well worth going inside and explore. Temple, pagoda and cave. To visit them all will take an hour or so. The views are worth it.

Its a very nice view point there is not much of a temple up here but the view point with the big Buddha is very nice. The road is very small up here and there is a even smaller road in the to the Buddha. Its a sign in Thai to the left its not to the top its almost to the top. There is a big parking in front the Buddha and you need to go inside the temple to get to the Buddha on the roof.

Wat Khao Ban Dai is a beautiful temple on the top of a hill, it is a nice place to go and see there are a lot of monkeys int he surroundings but be careful if you have some food they won't hesitate to take it from you. Some days they have some sort of market but this just happened once a year

If you're in the area this Wat is definitely worth a look👍 with a cooler cave and many interesting Buddha's inside this cave is worth a look, much of the Wat at the top of the hill still requires much more money to complete, but it's worth a wonder for a great view. So if you have some spare change/money please do donate to the monks so that they can continue the work to completion and continue to help local people 👍😊

I got a Tuk Tuk to the entrance at the road. I encountered an agressive dog and many monkeys. I walked up the road to the entrance. A monk showed me to a nearby cave which was impressive but quite dark in some areas. There were bats and a dog inside. You wander around in a circle through the tunnels and need to watch your head. After the cave I walked up the path to the Big Buhdah. There was some construction work along the way and the Big Budah building was not finnished. The whole area is nice but like an unfinnished tourist attraction. The staff spoke some English and were polite enough. I was the only visitor at the time. There were no taxis available. I would only go in a group to this place and with your own trsnsport. I could not find a scoiter hire place in Pheretchaburi so ended up walking back 2 kilometers into town.

Incredible Thai tradition wall painting since 280 years ago. This temple is important for unique Thai tradition style. If you love art must see! But please don't touch or lean on the wall. It is very important to concerned our national treasure.

Koh Sutharam Temple Temple islandIt is an old temple that has existed since the late Ayutthaya period. Assumed from various evidences such as a pair of parapets made of red sandstone, a ubosot made of bricks with a double-layered mortar roof, the base of the chapel has a soft curve, a chedi shaped chedi which is located between the ubosot and the viharn according to the ideology of the Ayutthaya period and paintings in the Ubosot Specify the year it was written in 2277 B.E. which corresponds to the reign of King Borom-Kos. which is interesting in form How to draw and details such as the wall in front of the main Buddha image that is traditionally depicted in the history of the Buddha in the time of demons But here, the image of the devil is written on the back of the principal Buddha image. The front part wrote the story of the universe according to ancient beliefs instead. There is a picture of Mother Phra Thana squeezing a bun in her natural style. Unlike before, Mother Earth always stood slightly slanted. There are also images of foreigners, both Westerners, Japanese guests, in the paintings. which made me realize that in the past Phetchaburi is considered an important economic city because it has already been in contact with foreigners.

I like this temple, very clam and peaceful, no tourist. You can stay with yourself in the chapel alone, watching each wall pictures with grateful. Normally the door of the chapel will be locked but you can ask people around their where to get the key. When done, you lock the door and take the key to that same place you get. Car parking available.

The temple looks nice from the outside. I've heard it's really beautiful on the inside as well, but during visit, I wasn't able to get in.

To be honest, I have not been inside the temple. I go there because they have a great morning market a few days a week. Not too busy and easy to walk around. Parking is close. Clean market with nice and cheap food
