It has a glass flooring on the skywalk so you can appreciate the views from every angle. Perfectly safe and easily accessible. Parking is close by and there is a souvenir shop and restaurant available as well as some lovely ice cream or a beer if you prefer available. If your scared of heights this might be too much for you but you can still enjoy the view without walking on the glass skywalk. Ocean views and beautiful landscapes is what you see and this is safe for the whole family, if your brave enough.

Nice place to visit, one of the highest glass platforms in the world. It's very safe, although if you have vertigo it might be a struggle. Ample parking with a cafe, toilets (0.50€ entry fee) and a souvenir shop on site. There was turnstile gates before getting to the platform but these were open and free to enter on our visit. Big thank you to our tour guide Jose who brought us here.

Great viewpoint from one of the highest cliffs in Europe , sadly I came here as part of a tour so was extremely busy , so didn't get the full effect on walking over the glass , and it doesn't go out far enough in my opinion 🤷‍♂️ , still good though , nice gift shop selling original Madeira cake , I believe the toilets were 50cents .

This is not for u if you fear heights! Otherwise it is an easy to access possibility to get an amazing view down to the xoast and the cities. You can get by car up the hill and have only to walk for about 2 min to get to the front plattform. Entry is 2 € pP. There is also a cafe with a great view to get a snack. Toilets are available for 50 ct.

I gave it four stars because of my fear of heights. When you are in the area and have the chance to stand on a glass floored platform I've the 3rd highest sea cliff in the world then you have got to visit. If you can you will be treated with stunning views towards Funchal and the sheer beauty of Madeira overall.

With its 590 meters, Cape Girão is one of the highest cliffs in Europe and in the world. Live view is on the coastline is breathtaking. For good pictures, you may be to go there under cloudy weather. Otherwise, prefer an arrival no later than 30 minutes after sunrise or 30 minutes before sunset. In the meantime, you will need a neutral density filter and a tripod. As I was there in the meantimes without filter nor tripod, my pictures do not express properly the amazing sensation I had there.

Beautiful view but there are many other amazing views on the island which are much more worth it and also free. You have to pay 2€ per person to entry. The platform is quite small and can get overcrowded - also the weather is a big factor so plan your visit carefully if you don’t want to be fully disappointed.

It is really awesome standing on this glass platform! 😀 The Cabo Girão cliff is one of the highest in the world and falls almost vertically 500 m deep into the Atlantic Ocean. A skywalk with a glass floor awaits you on the steep cliff, which protrudes over the edge of the rocks and offers you a breathtaking view 580 m into the depths. Enjoy the view of the sea and the illusion of floating in air. The cliff of Cabo Girão is worth a detour not only because of this pedestrian bridge, but also because of a first-class viewpoint (Miradouro Cabo Girão), which offers an overwhelming view over the entire southeastern coast of Madeira.

My partner and I had the most wonderful stay here! We had the front apartment which has a large balcony with the most incredible views of the valley. The apartment itself is modern, well furnished and extremely comfortable - not to mention large! There is a well equipped kitchen as there are only a handful of restaurants nearby which is great if you choose to stay in. The master bedroom and living room are extremely comfortable and spacious. We did not use the second bedroom but it again was very well kept and spacious. The owners are extremely lovely, communication was great and check in was super easy. I would 100% stay here again if I visit Madeira in the future!

What a wonderful stay. Although Curral das Freiras is a rural town we had planned various hikes in the area and so we decided to stay in the village. And boy, am I glad that we did. We stayed 1 week in the 2 bedroom apartment (four of us) with a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains. Our hosts could not do enough for us, they were super friendly and accommodating for all our extra requests as we are serious hikers. The apartment was very clean and had all the necessary facilities. At the entrance to the building is a lovely little coffee shop/snack bar that made some amazing sandwiches for our hikes. I also recommend that you visit the local supermarket if you want to purchase any local made liquors. A wonderful, comfortable stay in Curral das Freiras with superhosts Melissa and Manny.

One of the most breathtaking views I've come across on Madeira, and there have been many! But this scored particularly high. Bring a jacket as a little wind is a lot of wind up here and I appreciated my layers. Maybe less worth the visit if there's low cloud. There's a gift shop at the top, as well as a cafe. Walking to the very highest up platform is well worth it. It was hard to imagine that I was still on an island! Amazing

Nice place, good program for all ages, worth visiting. There is a free parking lot with many places near the hotel. Just follow the path to the viewpoint, take photos. Once up so high, it's a level walk along the waterways with alleyways to housing local veg plots and amazing terraces. It leads into more remote valleys and wilderness before returning into civilisation once more. 2 hours of walk with stunning views.

This was my first time doing a levada tour and it was great! At the beginning we had some difficulty locating it, cause we did not start at the very start, but some streets later. After we found it it's a pretty straightforward way through the wine yards and houses. After the villige the levada goes through some cliffs, but there was an additional path to the "dangerous" narrow part. I decided to walk on the canal, it was okay, but you have to be careful and sure-footed. This part is not long, I think about 30-40 meters. There was almost no water in the canals, so I guess if you're afraid and get dizzy you can just take your shoes off and go through the water :D The views are very nice and I really enjoyed this walk. It was somehow difficult to find the bus from Funchal (since we did this on Saturday and there were not so many busses, also the bus stops were not signed properly). We took bus 7 to Camara de Lobos and on the way back we took a taxi from the parking spot at the Cabo Girao Skywalk. It was 20 euros to Funchal city center.

A very nice older gentleman is the owner of the place. There is no kitchen as far as I can tell, but a good variety of beverages, ice cream and snacks which came in very handy during our hiking tour with our children. We sat outside on the other side of a small road and enjoyed the view and the cold beverages.

A truly hospitable experience! After 2 weeks in Madeira, Leandro made our visit the highlight of the trip. He’s accommodating, telling the stories, asks you what you like to offer the best wine. The place itself is beautiful too! We arrived earlier and waited 30 before the tour, but with the views (1600m above the sea) it was a spectacular wait! The story, the atmosphere, the hospitality makes the experience a 12/10! Very recommended ❤️

A great tour and tasting --- what you feel like you want from visiting a winery :) The host was welcoming and offered a lot of information, the tasting was comprehensive and it was clear that these wines are of a superior quality. We tasted five different ones, they were all distinct in character. Both of us found a favourite and went home with a bottle each. The one thing is that even though the tour gives a great impression of the different stages of the wine production, and lots of details given on the individual steps e.g. I loved the info about the wooden barrels, if you're really interested in the process like we are, it still ultimately felt a bit abbreviated in favour of a longer tasting session. We hurried through a couple rooms. But all in all, a really good experience and completely recommendable for getting to know Madeira's wine from the perspective of a local outfit who are clearly experts in its production :)

We had a terrific time at this winery. Got to see a little bit of the process of how they made the wine, and where they stored it. Since it is June, the winery is kind of calm right now. Harvest time in August/September, I’m sure, is much more active. We did the premium tour and got to try seven different types of Madeira wine. We learned a lot. It’s a lot different than other wines. All of them were very tasty. Our guide was very nice and was very knowledgeable. I highly recommend this tour. It was a great value for the money.

Actually just amazing wines from dry to sweet, from 5 till 40 years. Not made the old Madeira style but a bit more young and fresh. A MUST place if you have ever tasted a Madeira wine or would like to taste! The winery is located not far from the famous Cabo Girao viewpoint with glass floor over a 580 m cliff. Even-though we have arrived during lunch time, the personnel is SO MUCH friendly, they opened a shop for us so we could try out and buy the wine we love so much! Wide variety of aging and taste, the cakes and cookies they sell are tasty as well. Moveover, Ms. Vitalina has gone over and above and has given us a tour of winery and shared interesting insightful information! IMPORTANT: Due to high demand of wine tasting, book in advance!!!

Nice possibility to get from Camara de Lobos to Cabo Girao. The ‚Train‘ takes approx 30min to get up. There you‘ve 15min to visit Cabo Girao which is quite enough to see everything. During the drive you‘ll have a great view, too. For me it worth it and all good for this price (currently 9€).

It was a great spot to give a great overview over the city of Funchal. There were personell on the spot to help us non native portugese with the machine. Walking out to the viewpoint it is a nice looking promenade, then it opens up to the platform. The platform itself, the glass, could be cleaned some. Other than that I fo not have much to add. Of this writing, the entry fee is 2€. The price is just affordable enough that I do not have a problem with it, if it increases, I am not sure I would have payed for it.

H&H is a great place to visit and see the barrels full of new and old wines, buy wines and also sample free 3yr old wine! You can try the vintage frasqueira and solera wines as well (we had the 1898 Verdelho......🤤) but these you have to pay for obviously. The staff and very friendly, informative and knowledgeable also, which goes a long way to making it a pleasurable experience, and we will definitely be going back when in Madeira again. 🇬🇧❤️🇵🇹🍷

We visited this place as part of a guided in 4x4 group tour to end our trip. Top floor where the huge barrels are on display and tasting sessions taking right next to them. We get to taste as few Madeira's sherry in different sweetness levels. The lady who guided us was friendly and informative. We went into the gift shop on the same floor right after the session and purchased a few things for home. It was a great fun ending our tour for the day.

Stumbled across this church when I noticed people entering ( I thought it was a municipal building!). Large church building absolutely packed with ornate carvings, painted and gilded. The more you look the more is revealed. Such attention to detail. Look up, the ceiling is amazing especially the first of three "domes" which are in fact trompe l'oeil and not domes at all. It's evident that no expense was spared in construction and decoration. A feast for the eyes. I think I was lucky to find this open? Not sure on opening times. Well worth a visit.

Great day out with Safari Madeira on a West Island and off roading tour. Guide Paolo had excellent English and was a great driver and very knowledgeable. Started off from Funchal, then to Câmara de Lobos, Punta del Sol, Magdalena del Mar, Paul de Serra, lunch stop at Porto Moniz. Afterwards Seixal, Sao Viciente, Encumeada and Cabo Girao. Several off roading sections including steep narrow hills and some mud trails in the forest. Well recommended.

That was my 3rd trip with Safari Madeira and not the last. The unforgettable experience! Few picturesque stops for photography, some parts of Madeira which you can't see traveling by "normal" car, taxi, bus etc. Nice stop for the meal in the restaurant (Porto Monitz). The most funny driver who was also our guide - Diogo. He can talk a lot about Madeira with passion, love to his country and with big sense of humour. I can recommend this awesome trip for everyone who loves nature, the adventures, the adrenaline, exciting impressions and who want to have a great day !

If you are looking for jeep tours on Madeira, this is the place to go. We started with the eastern tour and had an amazing day. First and foremost because of our guide John! - John, I hope you read this: Your kindness, knowledge and way to treat your customers to a amazing experience is truly unique. Btw, your driving skills are amazing too :). We had great time. Two days later we also did the west tour. (Again with John :) ) Unfortunately, we had to change our route multiple times during the day because of the active wildfires BUT it again showed the greatness of safari Madeira. They didn’t want to risk us and the driver and took us to safe routes, even though they might risk bad reviews from not-understanding customers. Thanks for the stunning experiences and amazing time we had!

Great trip. Was sceptical on the price of 50E for the whole day trip but really worth it. Gabrielle was a great driver, informative but without being over chatty as some guides are and we all enjoyed the day immediately. We booked through local ticket sales. Maybe booking on line is slightly cheaper but happy to be supporting the community. Sit on the middle seats or in the back if you want to stand up on the off road bit. Decent shoes and not flip flops! Binoculars would be good for some of the places we visited. Go for it, you won’t be disappointed.

Exceptional value for money. Lots of cool spots to see. You have downtime to hang by the beach at Seixal and you can swim in the porto moniz pool too. Best way to see the island if you have limited time. Miguel our driver was terrific! He was hilarious and drove that keep like he was a pure entertainer. Catered to everyone’s needs and looked after us well. Spoke in Portuguese, French and English! He was kind enough to drive back to return my glasses i’d forgotten in the vehicle. Overall, I’d very highly recommend this. Hold on to the rails, stand up, and have the best rides and views of your life!

Very nice museum dedicated to the art of printing. There are a lot of printing machines and other exhibits linked to the printing from the last century or even older. A nice video is highlighting the usage of several machines displayed in the museum. The entrance fee is symbolic , 3 Euros. It takes around 30-45 min max to see it all.

A stunning scenic location on Madeira with a marvellous lookout point.Went there as part of another island mini bus day trip from Funchal. The views are breathtaking.Only problem is you don't get a lot of Time on the bus trips tight itinerary, so get snapping quickly with your camera.

We had a snack sat outside with a view of the small harbour. A pleasant surroundings with an interesting backdrop of a restaurant named after the UK's war hero Winston Churchill who visited the area and did a number of his paintings here. A historic account of his artwork can be found with a small statue near the harbour.

Interesting but very small fishing village where it’s nice to see the very colourful small fishing boats tied up in the harbour during the day before sailing out at night to catch the local and very ugly but tasty scabbard fish. A few souvenir shops and a number of small hotels and restaurants make up the rest of the area. An original and interesting display of recycling of tin cans, paper and pots adorn the narrow roads.

Great wee village to visit. There are working fishing boats in the harbour and fishermen in the bars. There is a pay and display carpark next to the harbour. All around the village, there are murals painted. There are plenty of shops and bars to visit. There is a nice viewpoint above the village, but it's a very steep walk up to it. There is a local indoor market where you can purchase local goods.

That was Winston Churchill's beloved place on Madeira and he spent quite some time there painting. However, this fishing village is located in a bay and it's very picturesque with very colourful fishing boats. There are plenty of bars and restaurants with excellent drinks and food. We walked along the coast from the resorts to the west of Funchal. A nice walk on a warm day. Our two kids (14 and 10) both managed it without complaining, although we decided to take the bus back. Probably a couple of hours to get there? (With stops to look about etc). The bay itself is quite picturesque. Some interesting/ curious art in the town made of plastic waste (I think). Not particularly our taste, but I don't judge and you might like it. There were plenty of bustling bars and cafes in the town. Public toilets a little hard to find but are located down by the harbour in a drab metal building - not the best, but serviceable if you are in need. This is a working fishing village, so take that into your expectations.

This is a little bay, with charming waterfront bars and restaurants. It was a favorite haunt of Winston Churchill. He stayed and painted here many years in a row. This was our third trip here- food is incredible, very reasonably priced, and you get a nice drive on the way from the port. The hop-on/off buses stop here- make sure you climb down the mountain and drink a *poncha*, (the local rum punch if you will) but remember you have to climb back UP to catch the bus!! Taxis from the ship are about 25 Euros ( 20 minute drive) each way- a great day trip off the ship for less than 50 Euros/,pair- with a gourmet lunch, drinks etc- we spent 75 €/couple!!

Well worth a visit. You could send anything between half a day to a day here. A bus does run from Funchal. There is a range of restaurants, cafes and bars here. The streets are displayed with different art work that uses recycled materials like plastic. This place is where Churchill spend a number of days on holiday. There is parking available next to the harbour. In the harbour there is a number of colourful boats.

Can't say much without bias, seeing as both sides of my family are from here (going back centuries). I'm honest enough to say that it's not the first place a tourist might go but if you're keen on history and wish to learn, do this before visiting and you'll have a wonderful visit. The place has modernised greatly in the last few decades and continues to have much potential ahead. Hotels, bars and all sorts surround the main town by the bay. It is a fishermans village and Winstom Churchill's most favourite painting spot.

Braved public bus for morning visit couple of hours is adequate bit longer if you stay for lunch. Bus 1 from lido quite straight forward but be warned if you have mobility issues the bus drops off outside of Camera de Libos gojng down hill not too bad but steps and steep hill to return to bus stop. I managed it but it was very hot! Sleepy little harbour not much to see pleasant enough bit rough and scruffy on the approach.
