We landed in the Narita airport and decided to stay close by for the first night. To our delight and totally unplanned we discovered that there was a beautiful temple and park within 18 minutes walking distance of our hotel. We decided to pay a visit in the morning before taking the bus to Tokyo. A walk through the impressive landscaped grounds surrounding the temple was our first exposure to Japan and left an indelible impression. Very symbolic of the splendid beauty to be found throughout this beautiful country.

I’ve visited Temples throughout Japan in my 47 prefecture travels and this one doesn’t disappoint one bit. After eating lovely prepared eel/ Unagi my favorite Japanese dish beforehand at a 110 year old restaurant it was so enjoyable seeing the architecture of how the Japanese build their temples.

Great park and beautiful shrines to visit, no crowds and open 24 hrs. We decided to take a walk after dark and it was even more stunning. Very calm atmosphere and must stop if in Narita.

I wanted to come here for a while and I think it’s worth the day-trip from Tokyo (also if you have the local specialty of eel). Although the temples themselves are big and stunning, I found the park next/inside of the complex even nicer and very wide - didn’t even know that the park existed.

Best place for one day outing with family and friends. Relax nature behind the temple is very good. You will be able to see some of the Japanese old construction. Street in front of temple is full of local food so you can have good lunch.

Center of belief in Narita area. Very close to the airport. Worth half a day trip if you have time to spare before boarding. The busy street leading from the train station to the temple is lively. Lots of famous eel restaurants among the road. Be sure to take a tour inside the pagoda at the top of the hill. There's also a museum worth visiting located inside the park.

Even though I went past 5pm when the temple is "closed", it's still open for those who'd like to visit it without having access to the amenities and rites during the day. Very peaceful and calm. A must to visit!

It's a very historical site. It's really worth visiting. Beautiful old arthritic , you can tell the wood works were so spectacular. The temple provided cold or hot green tea, or cold or hot water with a rest area. Very touching supply after you walked an hour.

Stopped here during a layover at Narita, it's a 15 minute train ride followed by a 15 minute walk. Gorgeous scenery, quiet and serene. Be prepared to climb steps.

We had a layover at the airport and took a train in from the airport (so easy and inexpensive). Wandered from train station down beautiful shopping street full of food and wares and ended up at the extensive temple area. It is amazing. Lots of locals and pilgrims. Attached to a beautiful park and garden also. Such a beautiful afternoon spent in a sacred spot.

Naritasan Shinsho-ji Temple is a Buddhist temple located in Narita, Chiba Prefecture. The temple deity is Fudo Myo-o and has long been known as “Narita Fudo”. The large complex took me about 2 hours to complete along with collecting red goshuin stamp (a total of 6) at ¥300 each. The parking fee is ¥800.

A must visit during a Tokyo stay. Visit the huge grounds of old Narita Temple. See the temple and out buildings and if you are lucky enough, the monks will be in procession. You could spend days walking the beautiful, serene grounds and not see it all. From the lush greenery to the ponds, it's a beautiful respite from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo.

Nice place with almost no people like other Japanese temples. It’s entrance free has very nice views, turtles and there’s is an free tour we couldn’t take it but we supposed is very useful.

If you have 3 hours layover at Narita airport, this side trip is definitely worth your time. Meticulously maintained temple at top of the mountain. Easy hike for all abilities. Remember to bring water if the weather is hot.

Absolutely gorgeous place to visit! You can easily spend 4-5 hours here just roaming around and admiring the beauty of it! We didn’t pay any entrance fee. Around temples there are cute little local shops but make sure you have cash. Temples are close by Narita station (1km=15 mins walk).

Loved visiting Shinsho-ji Temple in Naritasan. Top tip - Come straight here by train from Narita/outside of town (unless you are driving), walk along Naritasan Ometesando (shopping street), then walk up to the first tier of the Temple but ignore the shrines. First make make your way, up and around to the beautiful park at the back of these shrines, explore around and then arrive back at the main shrine area again. Enjoy!

It's a magnificent temple with magnificent architecture that dates back many centuries. When visiting Narita, this place is definitely worth seeing. We walked to the temple from Narita rail station, and it was pretty convenient.

went here during my layover in narita, well worth it. so beautiful and peaceful. i went before 10am so it was really quiet, but crowds picked up the later it got. free english tour guides offer their services if you want, but i didn’t have enough time to take their offer.

Very nice place to visit while in Narita, there's lots of shrines, temples, and pagodas. Great place to go for walks, lots of food and shops around the area as well. Definitely your go-to place if you're in Narita for a layover or a visit. Though with that said, expect the place to be crowded with tourists.

Large temple complex, with a very nice park. The buildings were grand in scale and crafted in true artistic style. The staff were friendly and very helpful. After visiting the temples, we walked through the woods and pond. It was peaceful and charming. there was a small waterfall completely made the grounds magical and a zen like sounds of the crashing down. The falls filled a creek that flow into the pond. The entire temple grounds began our week long tour of Japan, and met our high expectations. Definitely worth a visit.

One of the nicest temple I have visited in Japan. It is in such a huge compound, and it is not as crowded as other famous shrines/temple. Recommend to go early to explore, and be prepared to walk alot

This is a great temple to visit if you want to experience Japanese culture. You can get a free bus from hotels near Narita Airport to JR Narita station. It takes around 10-15 minutes walk from the station to Narita san. You can enjoy looking around many local shops alongside the pathway to Narita san.

Not mentioned by many, but bus stop 16 offers the free shuttle bus options to the neighbouring hotels. I specifically had to go to ANA crown plaza, so this is a very convenient way to make your way to the airport hotel without the hassle of taking a taxi.

Very clean and neat throughout the terminal. There is an Experience Japanese Culture near the Connection Counter. Each week it offers different Japanese cultural experiences. This week it is an Origami week. If time allows during connection, have fun with Japanese culture.

One of the busiest Airports in the world. Not as beautiful as Singapore or Mumbai Airport T2 but clean nonetheless. Has ample restaurants but less vegetarian or vegan friendly.

Taking the limousine bus was an easy, seamless, and cheap option to Tokyo Station. Highly recommended. I was a first-time traveler, and the ticket booth was right outside the arrivals gate as were the buses. The cost was about $15 bucks Canadian right to Tokyo Station. No tunnels or dragging luggage all over the airport. To find trains. Very easy to use

Flights departs around 8am but departure gates opens only at 7am. You come and check in early then wander around and come back for a monster queue for departure gate. It can be quite stressful when you see that queue. Hopefully, we were able to get through that in time. Word of caution, once you check in, start lining up.

If you are looking for Japan-made thermal flask, they are available for sale inside transit area at the airport. Brands include zojirushi, tiger and thermos. Lower priced items tend not to be Japan-made. We got a Japan-made 480ml thermos for about 4000 Yen which is really reasonably priced. Thermal flasks are usually sold near where popular snacks are. Just need to keep a lookout for them as it is a pretty small collection.

On 06/12/23 Noda and her team gave me such amazing help when l was in a dire situation. My ticket had been updated with a 28 hour layover that l couldn’t afford to do and so was then put on another flight however the airline hadn’t confirmed it. On my arrival at the airport my ticket couldn’t be found and it seemed l would not be able to go home. I was so upset and distressed and Noda did everything in her power to fix my situation quickly so that l could still make it onto the flight. There was such little time left but Noda and the others managed to get my ticket sorted in time and l was able to make it home. I pray God blesses every single person who took part in helping me get the matter sorted. Truly l’m grateful to you all, especially Noda. Thank you for your help but especially your kindness towards me, l will never forget you. Noda was on desk F17 for the 19:30 flight to London Gatwick with a layover in Shanghai Pudong.

Do not use the Automatic Currency Exchange Machine when arriving at Terminal 1! It charged me 22 Euro for exchanging my money without any information given. If you fly from Taipei airport, I HIGHLY recommend just exchanging your money there, as the rates are much better/you pay much less for the service. Horrible experience and disappointed that there is no information on this.

It is a vast temple with several historic buildings. The garden is very traditional and wonderfully beautiful. The temple is surrounded by a historical townscape. We found a number of traditional and interesting stores. In short, we discovered Japan in this place! Frankly, this place is very much worth a visit!

Came here after a long flight from Narita Airport. The walk from Narita station to the garden is well worth it. There are many unique small stores along the way to keep things interesting, not to mention the best unagi restaurant is along the way. This park is huge and has many sightseeing points within the park. Could spent at least 1-1.5hrs here walking leisurely in the park alone.

This park is incredibly beautiful, huge, and free. I was impressed with the delicacy with which it was designed and the little details in spacial orientation in the landscape architecture. The trees and grounds are well-maintained. There is a beautiful pavilion on the edge of the lake and a bridge. There is what seems to be a small shopping street, but it is closed due to the pandemic. Brooks, stone lanterns, pagoda, and a large waterfall are some attributes. There is a lovely cottage with traditional bamboo fencing. Absolutely lovely.

A park where you can enjoy cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in autumn It is located behind Narita Shinshoji Temple. You can spend a relaxing time surrounded by waterfalls and lakes. It's a good place to stop by after arriving at Narita Airport or when you have time to spare before your flight departs.

Nice park for a walk, beautiful big trees for nature lovers, big carp (koi)in the ponds. I have been many times there and never get bored

This such an incredibly peaceful and beautiful place! We got there early on Saturday morning, so it wasn't crowded. The vendors were just setting up their souvenir booths and the day was chilly but cloudless. It couldn't have been a better day. The artistry of the paintings and carvings on the buildings is truly awe inspiring, and the grounds are immaculate.

You can watch many aircrafts from here, mainly from the Star Alliance airlines. The good part is that if you have a reflex camera there's few parts in the fence where you can stick it out so there won't be any obstruction within your sights.

Back in the day many airports had observation decks that anyone could to view planes coming in and go out. This is one of the last free ones remaining in the world. I’m surprised that many people didn’t know about this. I had a few hours and I walked around the deck and took a nap under the sun which was very peaceful.

The worse thing about this place is you know that you are leaving japan if you’re here, but there is a great selection of souvenirs here to take home and good local restaurants while you want for your flight

Mesmerizing place to see planes landing and take off with additional bonus of Hanami cherry blossom viewing. The Sakura flowers here were just hypnotizing. To see a plane on its landing approach, emerging from behind the Sakura bloom was just other worldly.. But seeing taking off planes was a damper because the park is on the back side of the take off strip and you can't really see the final takeoff clearly. But nonetheless a wonderful place to spend a Sakura filled day

This place is very famous for airplane photographers. It is located close to Narita airport and great for taking plain pictures. There are enough parking lot for this hill. They have road service for refreshments and local goods. You can grab refreshments and drinks in the kiosk and get food spot for pictures. Usually there are many people to see planes. Good timing depends on the window directions. So not always good location to catch good taking off. But good to visit!!! Need cars to get here. Enjoy!!!!!

Great place to go and see the airplanes that take off from Narita Airport; and it's BEAUTIFUL at Sakura's season (loads of cherry blossom trees). The stores are good and help in regards of food/drinks and airline souvenirs

Nice farm easily accessible from Tokyo. It's ideal for families with kids under 5 IMO as the activities are limited. Decent amount of animals for interactions. Archery, vintage train ride were good. BBQ location was good too. Overall, a good place to visit with family for a day trip.

There are multiple shops to buy souvenir, plushie, food, and other items to remember the trip. A few practical tips: there's ample parking available, making it convenient for those driving down. The location is nice but even though you have to pay quite a lot for the entrance tickets almost every single activity costs extra money. There are better and cheaper farms to visit with kids in Chiba

Very family oriented. Children can learn about the animals and also learn to respect them and all of nature. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Had a great time.

Entrance fee is a little pricey for this type of attraction. Once you get inside, expect to pay even more for your children to enjoy all the activities inside. Food prices are as expected. Lots of washrooms. Some activities are quite run down. All in all, it's a fun time for the kids to enjoy.

We completed the tour in half day. Recommended to buy the one day ticket activity to enjoy all the activities provided. Pay extra to give food to the animals.

A fun place to come with the little one. Good experience touching the goats, sheep and the cows. A little pricy but a good few hours to spend with the family the food and the ice cream was great. Will I come here again, probably not until n the near future. But I had a wonderful and relaxing time with my family.

It's not every day that you get to experience what it's like to live on a farm in the countryside. But I got to do just that at Narita Yume Farm. People can go inside the animal enclosures, and I was shocked at how friendly the animals were. Those cute goats and sheep came right up to us, almost like pets! There are also spots where you can buy food and feed the animals from outside the gates. From there, we went to the "Usafuwa" rabbit room. The rabbits are free to go anywhere in the room, and you can lure them close with treats. Those balls of fluff were very gentle, so we had a great time earning their trust enough to pet them. There's pizza, pasta, and all sorts of Japanese food, but if you only have time to try one thing, I can't recommend their hand-made ice cream enough.

Free Wi-Fi is available. This place is the best place for a day break after arriving at Narita Airport or before you leave Japan. You can find foods and drink, do grocery shopping, game shop for your kids, donut and coffee shops, you can do your last minute gift shopping here. A big aeon with many interesting restaurants, cafes and bubble tea shops.

There’s no direct bus or train from Narita airport. Gonna take train (¥270) followed by a bus ride (¥210). Unless you stay at one of those airport hotels around the area, they have shuttle service to this Aeon mall. But I heard it isn’t frequently run at all. Also it’s always fully packed with air crew and many might get bumped off.

It’s huge with a lot of shops, good for last min shopping, and most importantly tons of gashapon machines here! One can even get Levi’s made in USA jeans here as well.

It is very huge and very comfortable. The atmosphere is very good. I love Aeon mall Narita. I will come back again for sure. ^^

This place has lot of food options. If you are an Indian you can find one Indian restaurant name halal soa biryani. Its good for people coming from outside of Japan you can change currency also through vending machine

Great place for shopping of local goods. There is WiFi available and if you want to go “safe zone” with coffee-Starbucks is there. You can pay with card everywhere. There is a huge supermarket and also a lot of great places for buying Japanese cosmetics (pharmacy and stores). A lot of stores for buying toys, comic books and tv shows themed goodies. There is a great CAT CAFE 😅 where cats hang out and I love watching them. 😍 it’s on second floor if I’m not wrong, the name is Moff animal cafe.

So many different shops here! They even have a cat cafe inside, I didn't have time left to visit it by the time I spotted it as I had to catch a bus but I definitely plan to visit it! They had a Dipper Dan which sells really tasty crepes! And tons of restaurants! All the food/drinks I've had from them so far where really good! There's a shop for just about everything here!

Again, great place to see planes. Lots of --mostly middle aged men--with large cameras. Families with small children and dogs should be careful because some of them don't like noise. But some are very friendly and they know alot about planes!

Moreover, many of the staff members are proficient in English, which is a valuable asset for international travelers like myself. This makes the process even smoother and more convenient. In a nutshell, the JR EAST Travel Service Center at Narita Airport Terminal 1 offers a seamless and pleasant experience. Quick service and the politeness of the staff create a positive impression, setting the tone for your adventures in Japan. It’s an excellent starting point for your journey in this culturally rich and beautiful country.

Snail mail you a pass, once at airport go back and line up 30-90 minute, refill the same information a few time (btw your card is not registered to you even if they asked for your name and ID 3 time, so if you loose it buy a new one), but at least now you got a pass...wait no you still have to show up and get a ticket before every train.... Open invitation to JR management to visit any developed country and study the Train pass activation and usage system: 1) You buy a pass at a digital kiosk 2) ... Ho wait that's it. But what about the activation? How about the first time you scan your pass? Mind blown!! But what about getting your information three time? No needs ... It's not registered to you anyway. WOW

This is just a place to sit. There isn't many places to do so at the airport, so this isn't too bad in the context of narita. There is a snack and some drinks, basic stuff like coffee to processed juices to water. Really dont expext too much. Check in, dump your luggage, walk around the airport, come back for a bit of rest, and into the plane you go. Super functional at best, very devoid of facilities at worst.

Pretty simple lounge. Came in the morning pretty soon after opening and they had the automatic coffee machines and some drinks. Other than that its just seats all close together. They did offer me a free beer but I declined.

This is the IASS Executive Lounge on the 5th floor on the land side of the International Terminal 1, meaning you can get in before going through the security check to the boarding gates. We have Priority Pass and we were allowed to get in the lounge by stating our flight number even without our boarding pass. The lounge is clean but small. Overall it provides a safe and comfortable place to relax while you are waiting for your flight.

I wish I have read the reviews before wasting time queing to get into the IASS superior lounge. Very minimal food selection and probably not worth the time queuing. Its certainly not fit to be call a lounge but a rather a place for a quick bite and to get out quickly. Surprised that there is a long queue and probably for someone who do not have better place to rest and eat.

Lovely shine that has a great festival in Autumn and has the most beautiful cherry blossoms around it in doing. 💮💮💮🌺🌺 Their are limited shops in this area but it has a lovely traditional soba restaurant across the road from the main entrance of the main gate that is worth while eating at.

This is a nice little place. It gets very busy at the New Year, but other guys times to go are February for Setsubun and June for the hydrangeas. Watch out for the little shops outside of the temple as the items are usually used and extremely overpriced.
