Wow, What a place!!! It is the Highest Shiva Temple of the world and situated on the Himalayan Mountains of Chopta. I went in the last week of March and found snow there all around. We can reach there by Trek for around 5 KM. It is a challenging trek when there is snow because it becomes slippery. So, bring either your own proper trekking shoes or rent out trek shoes there. During snow, you can bring one or two sticks with you which helps you in trekking. When you reach Tungnath temple, there you find yourself as the most confident and happy person and have a positive energy inside you. Also, the view from there is fantastic and you can see peaks of the other Himalayan range mountains. My experience was good and I want to do again in the future. 😊

Tungnath altitude is 3,690 m (12,106 ft) & is higher altitude than kedarnath (3584 m)...we visited in the month of May(1st week)...it was drizzling & snow also was there & it is falling as well.. fantastic view.it is around 3 .5 km walk from entry point.

Tungnath Temple[3680 mtr( 12073ft)] Kedarnath Temple[ 3583 mtr( 11755 ft)] It is believed to be established by the Pancha Pandava.The present temple built by Adiguru Shankaracharya and arround 1000 year old. LOCATION:= In Chopta Village( known as mini Swizerland) is 280 km from Haridwar. Distance from Ukhimath to Chopta 29 km Sari village to Chopta- 20 km TREK:= Entry Point :- Chopta Distance:- 4 km trek Easy to moderate ,Guide not required. Track well paved but steep is there. Duration:= 4 to 6 hours depending upon Physical codition . BEST TIME:= May - June Sept- Oct Stick is a must for the trek available in shop near Entry Point @ Rs 20 on rent( deposit Rs 30 per stick refunded on return). Please dont forget to keep proper shoes,raincoat,gloves,waterbottle and medicine with you. DESCRIPTION:= We started our journey from Haridwar early morning (6AM) to Sari village by share cab and reached Sari at 4PM ( 250 km) and stayed in Ridhi Home Stay. On 2nd May morning at 7:30 AM we started to move towards Chopta by Cab and reached there at 8:30 AM. We started our Trek at 9AM.The weather was tremendous cool.The temp is 1 degree at that moment.The scenic beauty was splendid.We saw many rhododendron trees with full of red and pink flowers.we gradually moving upward and taking rest at regular interval. As we are near the Temple the surroundings become totally different covered with snow.We are fortunate to behold such Ocean Of Snow all arround. The Mandir Complex also snow covered.We have offered our Puja by purchasing Puja Dali from near shop for Rs.100. We have done Rudra Avisekh in such a manner by the Mandir Pujariji which is beyond our imagination. Due to adverse weather we have not gone upto Chandrashila. We also saw the Himalayan Monal . We started downward and the track was very slippery.We reached the starting point at 2PM. The experiance we gathered in Tungnath Trek will remain in our memory for ever. JAI BABA TUNGNATH

It's the world's highest Shiv temple. Beautiful place. Beautiful view You have to trek 4km to reach the temple or you can take mules if you can't trek. You can also visit Chandrashila from here further than 2km from the temple.

The moderate level trek but once you reach the top the view is amazing. As it's highest Shiva temple located 12,000 feet above sea level. There is a very positive vibe around the temple. It takes 2-3 hours to complete this 4 km trek. It's a must visit once in lifetime.

Awsome trek to the temple with mezmerizing views. its a starter trek 10-12 hours. if there is snow i would recommend to wear spikes. we fell quite a few times. but the view throughout was simply jaw dropping. we stayed the night in chopta and it was the best star gazing i did in my life. i couldn’t simply keep my head down.

World’s highest Gurudwara located at 14200 feet. Hem or Hima means Ice or snow and Kund means pool. It is devoted to Guru Gobind Singh Ji, 10th and last guru of Sikhs, who is said to have meditated here in his previous birth as per the Dasam Granth. His takht is located on ground floor below Darbar Hall. Behind the gurudwara is the holy Lokpal Lake, crystal clear and freezing cold. It is surrounded by the snow-clad Hathi Parvat and Saptashringa or Saptarishi peaks (seven peaks) ,each adorned by a Nishan Sahib on its cliff. A small stream Himganga flows out of this lake and joins the Pushpawati stream that flows out of the Valley of Flowers at Ghangharia village and eventually as Lakshmana Ganga. Water of the lake is deemed sacrosanct and said to have medicinal and healing properties. It is highly recommended to take a dip in this holy matter no matter how cold it might be ! There is a langar hall where you can have tea and delicious dal-khichdi all the time. Donot forget to take halwa after ardaas at around 1:30 pm outside darbar hall. There is a shoe keeping area also where you can keep your shoes and other belongings ( don’t keep valuable things) Night stay is not allowed. The beautiful Brahma Kamal is found in abundance here. This is also said to be the place where Lord Lakshmana meditated and King pandu practiced yoga. It all starts from Ghangharia, base camp for Valley of Flowers and Hemkund Sahib. This trek is 6 kms long with a steep inclination at various places but you have to return to ghangharia by 5-6 PM as there are wild animals so leave by 1:30-2 PM. I took around 6 hours from ghangharia. The entire trail is well defined and picturesque. The rain-drenched emerald green lofty mountains, stupendous waterfalls, small streams, dazzling blue poppies, soft white clouds and shining glaciers will literally make you forget all the difficulties and hardship of trekking. There are plenty of roadside dhabas that sell a bit pricy food. Paratha and maggi is must try. If we have given up so much to go up there, we should support locals too. Good news is that a new helipad is also being constructed just 1 KM before hemkund sahib so it will be very convenient to go from next year. Things to Carry - 1. Daypack 2. Trekking pole/ wooden stick 3. Poncho/Raincoat/Umbrella 4. Cash ( if you wanna rent mules or porters) 5. Food and water (everything is priced 2-3x) 6. Power-bank 7. Cap/ jacket 8. Medicines 9. Head -Torch Don’t leave anything behind, pick any garbage and throw it in ghangharia. It was my first trek and I feel so lucky that I could do it without any help of pony and porters. Jio works best at the site, airtel doesn’t work good at all. Date of Visit - 19/07/2022

It's not a simple trek. Hike needs reasonable physical fitness and mental strength so be prepared.. We hiked in month of May and there was snow at Hemkund Sahib and way leading to it making the track quite slippery. The peace and view at top makes it quite magical. The Langar served gives you desired strength after the climb. You do have the option of pony and porter but when you see young children and sr citizen pilgrims around you doing the journey on foot that motivates you to for that extra mile. Its a 6km hike from Ghangharia. The valley of flower is around 3km from starting point. The descend can be equally challenging so take proper rest. Have good pair of trekking shoes, gloves, stick etc along as basic gear. Weather can change frequently at that altitude. Carry some munching dry fruits etc with you and a water bottle that you can fill along the way. Please don't spill the plastic waste on top and try to get it to base if possible. It was great experience and the sevadaars along the way help you all along...

Heavenly feeling, the hardships one takes to reach here are fully worth. Dil ko sukoon milega. Tough journey, rewarding experience

Hemkund Sahib gurudwara - The worlds highest Gurudwara is a pilgrimage site in Chamoli district, Uttarakhand, India. With a setting of a glacial lake surrounded by seven mountain peaks and each peak is adorned by a Nishan Sahib on its cliff, it is located in the Himalaya Mountains at an elevation of 4632 meters (15,200 ft) as per the Survey of India. It is accessible only by foot from Govind ghat (Pulana)  on the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway. Guru Gobind Singh Ji the Tenth Master in one of his great holy compositions entitled “Bachittar Natak” while giving a hint or pointing out this good site Hemkund Sahib or Hemkunt Sahib. There is a Gurudwara Sahib located in Gobind Ghat. It is the first place where visitors come to start the trekking of Gurudwara Hemkund Sahib. There is a good parking space for cars and bikes. Pilgrims first come here and have some rest, afterwards they start their journey to Hemkund Sahib and walk about 15 kilometres on mountains. From here you will get sharing jeep to pulana 4kms ₹50. Then is 15 kms trekking to reach Hemkund Sahib Gurudwara. I reached govind ghat on 4th Oct 2022 at 2 pm. Kept my luggage at locker room free of cost. Took sharing jeep from Govind ghat to Pulana ₹50 for 4 kms. 2:30 pm I Started trekking of 10 kms from Pulana to Ghangharia. Reach 7 pm at Ghangharia and night stay free of cost at Ghangharia Gurudwara. On the way you will get many food and water shops. Next day morning I started trekking from Ghangharia to Hemkund Sahib gurudwara. 5 am to 10 am. It tooks 5 hours for 5 kms. Spent 2 hours in and near Hemkund Sahib gurudwara. Return back at 12 pm from Hemkund Sahib gurudwara and reach 6 pm at Govind ghat. 15 kms of trekking for coming back. Necessary Material to carry along with you Rain-coat, First-aid Kit, Wind-Sheeter, Water-Bottle, Sweater, Torch and Cell, Gloves, Neckerchief/Muffler, Cloth-Boots, Scissor, Chappal etc. Gurudwara Hemkund Sahib opens for Darshans from May 25th in routine: Nagar Kirtan from Govind Ghat to Govind Dham will be one or two days before starting yatra and from Govind Dham to Gurudwara Hemkund Sahib. Gurudwara Hemkund Sahib closes for Darshans from October 10th in routine. Government of Uttarakhand, as an initiative to provide safe and convenient means of travel to the tourists visiting this place, wish to develop a passenger ropeway system on a world class technology from Govindghat to Hemkund Sahib.

Hemkund Sahib gurdwara is a very holy place for Sikh.The atmosphere there was soo serene ,divine .The trek from Ghangaria to Hemkund Sahib is very steep you can opt for ponies also.Must visit.

World's Highest Gurdwara. Not an easy trekking. You can visit this place by walk or mule or by porter. On the way you can find so many food stall so you can reach easily by taking rest. Glacier point is little bit difficult the road is slippery and photography and reels should be avoided strictly. Once you reach you can find divine destination. If you can reach timely then you can get langar which is Khichdi Prasad and Chaa. You can also visit Laxman temple which is situated beside the the Gurdwara. And If you are lucky you can see blooming Bramhakamal flower which is another main tourist attraction. But visit this place is lifetime opportunity.

Very good place, you can plan a visit along with valley of flowers. It will be Crowded, so plan accordingly. They served a kichdi kind of food for everyone who visited there and it was tasty as well. Lake was kind of frozen and it was very cold when we visited. But you will love the experience and nature. But the waybof trekking is not so great because of crowd.

The gurudwara is said to be closed by 2pm but if anyone reaches after that they are also warmly welcome. The khichdi given in the langar is very tasty and we were just moved by the behavior of the sardar ji's there.

Great place to visit. It's an Himalayan region with snow and glaciers all over at an altitude of 4200m above sea level. But it's the toughest trek to any religious destination in Uttarakhand.

HEMKUND MEANS LAKE Of SNOW One must visit in his/her life it’s must visit place on earth The tenth Guru of the Sikhs, Guru Govind Singhji mediated at Hemkund Sahib for years. The word Hemkund literally suggests ‘Lake of snow’ and the immaculate water of this lake is as cold as snow. Hemkund Saheb is located at an elevation of 4,328mts above sea level amidst several snow capped peaks, which are collectively called Hemkund Parvat. A star shaped gurudwara near the lake is visited by thousands of devotees every month. A temple dedicated to Lakshman, brother of Lord Rama is also located here. One must complete a trek of 6km from Ghangharia to reach Hemkund Sahib. The best time to visit this place is from July to November.

Gurudwara Sri Hemkunt Sahib is located at an altitude of 15000 ft above sea level. It is the highest gurudwara in the world and one of the highest places of worship in the world. You have to trek for 2 days from Govind Ghat to reach Gurudwara Sri Hemkunt Sahib. The trek is arduous and you need a lot of perseverance to keep going. But all the pain is worth, as on reaching the Gurudwara you feel the bliss and calm. On reach the Gurudwara one should attempt to take the holy dip immediately, as it becomes a bit difficult after you have rested. It is really amazing that even at this altitude langar is being served to the devotees. Gurudwara Hemkunt Sahib is associated with the tenth Guru Sri Guru Gobind Singh ji. It is located at a very picturesque location on the bank of a small lake. It is important to note that there is lot of temperature differences between Ghangaria (Govind Dham), from where you start the second day of trek, and one should remain prepared. The total trek is around 16-17 kms from Govind Ghat. The second part is very arduous and steep is around 6.5 kms. Depending on the physical capabilities of a person the total trek time can be between 7- 15 hrs. At the start of the trek, you can also take shared sumo from Govind Ghat to Pulna, you will be charged Rs 50 per person and a distance of around 4 kms would be covered. Pony services are also available upto Hemkunt Sahib and helicopter service is available upto Govind Dham. Gurudwaras at Govind Ghat and Govind Dham provide paid accommodation and free langar. Besides, hotel accommodation are also available. Nobody is allowed to stay overnight at Hemkunt Sahib. The religious congregation starts at 7:30 am and are wound up by 2 pm every day. The Ardaas is done at 9:30 am and 12:30 am everyday.

Hemkund Sahib is undeniably a breathtaking destination. The trek, though demanding, became an unforgettable journey, thanks to the delightful weather and the serene ambiance that enveloped the surroundings. The holy dip in the lake, even in its bone-chilling cold, proved to be an incredibly rejuvenating ritual, dispelling all fatigue and the biting cold.

This is a blissful place in Devbhoomi. The world's highest Gurudwara is a pilgrimage of a lifetime. Around 6 km trek from Ghangria can be done using ponies or porters if one is unable to walk. The trek is moderate with loads of shops in the way for refreshment and stop overs. What makes it difficult is rather the humongous crowd especially if you are there with Snow like in June this year. The last 2 km was in snow from the walking meandering route however there is an alternative option of steep relatively snow free stairs counting to approximately 900. This option comes around 2 km before the Gurudwara Sahib. Glaciers crossing on the way are slippery and photography must be avoided. Be wary of the ponies carrying hoards of worshippers with luggage which are bound to make it difficult as one meets them from the opposite direction while trekking. The walkway is stone cobbled largely uneven but doable. Reaching at the holy Lokpal Lake up at 4300 mts above sea level creates problems for approx 1 in 4 blessing seekers due to low oxygen at such heights. This is common with kids and elders leading to headaches and nausea. This gets worsened due to the extra crowd which we observed at Sahib Ji around 10 AM on a mid June weekday as we reached there at 9 AM. Due to heavy snow at the top the entire Sahib Ji periphery was choked with people. In fact there was little scope to talk, wait and even have conversations with family at the top on that day. There were heavy queues for Langar, Gurudwara entry and even Slippers drop which may become challenging if traveling with kids. The backside of the Gurudwara is where Laxman Ganga originates from the glacier. One can view the crystal clear waters with mesmerizing peaks all around. It's a must to visit the old , historic , revered yet amazing Laxman temple on the banks of Lokpal Lake. In the end what matters more is the astoundingly beautiful journey trek, location, ambience at the top and the family company with which we did it all together.

I went here in the month of June 2022. It is a very beautiful place, the road leading to the temple is very beautiful. It takes 2 days to go here, but in those 2 days you will see amazing views of nature.

Pristine lake and great temple food at the top of Hemkund Sahib is a huge motivation for the steep and strenuous hike from Ghangaria. Great view along the hike with continuous showers. Rain readiness is the single most important thing. Many small stores and food places on the way. One-way 7 km distance takes 6 hours to hike up and 5 hours to hike down. Stone pavements all along the path. Overall a great experience.

Tungnath altitude is 3,690 m (12,106 ft) & is higher altitude than kedarnath (3584 m)...we visited in the month of May(1st week)...it was drizzling & snow also was there & it is falling as well.. fantastic view.it is around 3 .5 km walk from entry point.

Date Of Visit:- 02.05.23 We have visited the Tungnath Temple on the aforesaid date and which is insidentally our 1st High Altitude Trek. It is the Highest Shiva Temple of the World. Tungnath Temple[3680 mtr( 12073ft)] Kedarnath Temple[ 3583 mtr( 11755 ft)] It is believed to be established by the Pancha Pandava.The present temple built by Adiguru Shankaracharya and arround 1000 year old. LOCATION:= In Chopta Village( known as mini Swizerland) is 280 km from Haridwar. Distance from Ukhimath to Chopta 29 km Sari village to Chopta- 20 km TREK:= Entry Point :- Chopta Distance:- 4 km trek Easy to moderate ,Guide not required. Track well paved but steep is there. Duration:= 4 to 6 hours depending upon Physical codition . BEST TIME:= May - June Sept- Oct Stick is a must for the trek available in shop near Entry Point @ Rs 20 on rent( deposit Rs 30 per stick refunded on return). Please dont forget to keep proper shoes,raincoat,gloves,waterbottle and medicine with you. DESCRIPTION:= We started our journey from Haridwar early morning (6AM) to Sari village by share cab and reached Sari at 4PM ( 250 km) and stayed in Ridhi Home Stay. On 2nd May morning at 7:30 AM we started to move towards Chopta by Cab and reached there at 8:30 AM. We started our Trek at 9AM.The weather was tremendous cool.The temp is 1 degree at that moment.The scenic beauty was splendid.We saw many rhododendron trees with full of red and pink flowers.we gradually moving upward and taking rest at regular interval. As we are near the Temple the surroundings become totally different covered with snow.We are fortunate to behold such Ocean Of Snow all arround. The Mandir Complex also snow covered.We have offered our Puja by purchasing Puja Dali from near shop for Rs.100. We have done Rudra Avisekh in such a manner by the Mandir Pujariji which is beyond our imagination. Due to adverse weather we have not gone upto Chandrashila. We also saw the Himalayan Monal . We started downward and the track was very slippery.We reached the starting point at 2PM. The experiance we gathered in Tungnath Trek will remain in our memory for ever. JAI BABA TUNGNATH

It's the world's highest Shiv temple. Beautiful place. Beautiful view You have to trek 4km to reach the temple or you can take mules if you can't trek. You can also visit Chandrashila from here further than 2km from the temple.

The moderate level trek but once you reach the top the view is amazing. As it's highest Shiva temple located 12,000 feet above sea level. There is a very positive vibe around the temple. It takes 2-3 hours to complete this 4 km trek. It's a must visit once in lifetime.

One of the best trekking experience, it stays close in winters take out some info before visit, hiking was not bad at all, one of the best experience of my life.

Awsome trek to the temple with mezmerizing views. its a starter trek 10-12 hours. if there is snow i would recommend to wear spikes. we fell quite a few times. but the view throughout was simply jaw dropping. we stayed the night in chopta and it was the best star gazing i did in my life. i couldn’t simply keep my head down.
