Wow we experienced that. There are farming lands, shops, ATM's, different vendors selling many things around. We visited Dal Lake in Oct-22. Experienced fall season(autumn) and there was a snow fall 2/3 days before. We stayed there in HB Richards Green. Bang opposite to Gate No 5. Stay and food was good.

When in Srinagar, I got to experience the soothing Shikara Ride at Dal Lake. This hillside lake is home to the wonderfully carved wooden houseboats and colorful Shikaras (the small wooden carved boats) casually commuting through the scenic peaks of the Pir Panjal Mountains. It is spread across 22 square kilometers and its beauty kept growing as my Shikarawala rowed my Shikara deeper and deeper into its placid water flow! Shikaras are extensively used to commute back and forth from the houseboats, for daily traveling, or for boating tours. They are very well maintained, beautifully decorated, and rowed by professionals who are well aware of the different aspects of Dal Lake, which makes the Shikara Rides even more exciting and interesting. Staying rooted in their old charm, the swift movement of a Shikara provided me with a unique way to experience the eternal beauty of Kashmir, and must say, they certainly add to the beauty of Dal Lake with their colorful presence! The duration of the Shikara Ride at Dal Lake in Kashmir ranges from 1 hour to 4 hours, the Shikarawalas at one of the ghats surrounding the lake guided me regarding the same which helped me in choosing the ride as per my convenience. However, the pricing here is dynamic so the better your bargaining skills, the better chances of you bagging a worthy deal! It was an experience of a lifetime for me as I got wooed by scenic vistas of the Zabarwan Range and the deepness of the calming Dal Lake. The vibrations in the water formed by the rowing of Shikarawala were an equally visual treat. The mesmerizing scene of surrounding snowy mountains looked even more beautiful at the sunset which reflected in the gleaming water of the lake. The Shikara ride is incomplete without stopping at Meena Bazaar, a lively lake market. This market has a number of shops selling all sorts of goods including Kashmir’s specialties such as wooden artifacts, handmade earrings, carpets, Kashmiri handicrafts, saffron, and even Kashmiri Pashmina shawls right in the middle of the lake. However, it is advisable to avoid shopping here as the rates are on the higher side and the authenticity of goods sold is doubtful. Dal Lake is nothing short of heaven for film shootings and photography enthusiasts. May it be its floating gardens or the lush green spread around and the rocky terrains, it has various sights to offer for you to get those perfect shots! Besides this, I also got to see various birds while enjoying my ride which was indeed a cheerful sight. A Shikara ride is the best way to enjoy a picturesque ride across the lake, especially because these wooden boats with pointed ends on both sides and with beautiful canopies overhead are a cultural symbol and can only be seen in Srinagar. Must say, this ride helped me build memories of a lifetime, and was worth every penny. Spending a day in the calm waters of Dal Lake was one of the most relaxing aspects of my Kashmir Trip. It was hard to bid farewell to this delightful ride which made me fall in love with every nook and corner of the iconic Dal Lake against the backdrop of the snow-covered mountains but I’m definitely carrying a smile on my face, calmness of mind, the coolness of emotions and a heart filled with gratitude with me!

Dal Lake is located in Srinagar. It is really beautiful and peaceful, and you will fall in love with it. Stay on one of the magnificent houseboats on Dal Lake. The Shikara ride was fantastic, and Dal Lake is very intriguing. The natural surroundings of the lake are gorgeous, with high mountains providing a stunning backdrop.

A must visit spot if you are in Srinagar. Known for house boat stay, it has a lot more to offer. Calm, serene Lake water with regular boats (shikara) ferrying people. We were personally amazed Floating market, how they have everything available on water. From grocery to clothing, you hope on to shikara and buy what you need. Locals were very welcoming and no unnecessary push to sell their stuff.

Beautiful lake, amazing view, great night view, and excellent climate. The shikara ride was completely worth through the floating market. Loved every minute of it. But we got a really, really bad stay, was unfortunate but still enjoyed the stay because of the lake love. The boat we stayed on was Athena. It was great, spacious, good food. Until we really started having trouble. It was full of dust. Heavy dust that we immediately started sneezing and caught cold. Then I was happy that the food was good and then during breakfast, before checkout we got an omelette with cockroach in it !! I mean, why !!! The boat was never getting cleaned. That we knew.

"Dal Lake", Truly an unforgettable experience. No wonder it's called the jewel of Kashmir. I visited in July 2023 and could go for a shikara ride around sunset time. Ride itself was soothing with spectacular sunset views and we could even manage a very closer view of the water fountain show which was going on. I personally have considered "Dal Lake " to be a hyped-up lake with an opportunity for a good ride around but honestly, it's much more than just a large lake with shikara rides. There is much commercial activity going along like houseboat stays, water plant harvesting, fishing, floating markets and more. During extreme winter months, entire lake will be frozen but then it's the time for winter sports and related activities. It's just like a lifeline for many people. It's really a large lake complete with 3 tiny islands and some landmarks, and the most commendable part is its Idyllic setting. It's covered in most sides by majestic mountains, and I can only imagine the spectacular views it has to offer during winter months when there is snow around. So instead of the regular "Must Visit Tag ", I will recommend it with a "MUST MULTIPLE VISIT LOCATION " so that you can enjoy its beauty completely.

Dal lake is one of the best places to visit if you are in Kashmir. We stayed at the house boat. One of the best experiences. Sikara Ride was very much enjoyable. But people are throwing a lot of plastics in the lake. It shouldn’t be. The water of the lake is green as water can't pass by. And make sure the room heaters if you want to stay at the house boat. At night, colds feel like you are in the freezer.

Dal lake is a great place for visit. In this you can see floating market. I stay in a houseboat. They served hot and simple food which is good in taste. The view of dal lake is awesome. Song "chupke se sun is pal ki dhun" is perfectly fitted here.. Here you can see the nature beauty and feel calm and inner peace and the sound of boat and water.

Dal lake is a must visit site in Srinagar. I have stayed on a houseboat for 2 days. It was a wonderful experience. They pick you up from the ghat in small boats or shikaras and drop you off at the houseboat. Small scale shopkeepers come on boats for selling their native products and souvenirs. At night. The beauty of the lake is very captivating. A Shikara ride at night soothes our mind and rejuvenates our body.

This is definitely heaven on earth. The place was so scenic 👌 it's also cheap ride if you go with group we pay 500rs each. You can bargain for lower price than us. It take more than 1 hour for all points to cover and three spot where you can get out of your shikara. After G20 success this become even more busy than ever as per shikara guy so that's cool. Although floating makret here is expensive way too expensive.

I recently had the privilege of visiting the magnificent Shankaracharya Temple in Srinagar, and I must say, it was an awe-inspiring experience. This temple is situated on the Hill. You will find lot of people visiting to this place. Security is available through out and will keep the count on the vehicle going up with number of people. Might be you have to walk approximately for 400 meters since so many vehicles are there. On reaching to the temple you get the security check plus need to climb approximately 250 stairs to reach the temple but it's worth to reach and see the oldest temple and the 360 degree view of Srinagar

Nigeen lake is very calm and quite place compare to Dal lake. Very big beautiful lake. We can do shikara ride from here. There are many houseboats available to stay in this lake. Houseboat experience was good.

Nigeen lake is the smaller lake in Srinagar, it is connected to Dal Lake but unlike Dal lake there is less crowds here and atmosphere is tranquil. Still there are good amount of house boats in this lake and some shikaras as well. You can also take a shikara ride from Nigeen lake to Dal lake as well. For those like less crowds, Nigeen lake is a better choice.

But the issue is you will find peace here but the dul lake crowd and hawkers and floating shops are less here. Best to stay in house boat , best branded house boats are here. A quiet and romantic place for house boat stay. After seeing the enormously crowded Dal lake, we decided to take our shikara ride here instead. Needless to say, it was the best decision!! We enjoyed a magical sunset shikara ride at the Nigeen lake and had the entire lake to ourselves: plus the houseboat owner had arranged for it and did not charge us.

Scenic lake. There are a lot of houseboats to stay in, would recommend taking a houseboat stay here for the peace lovers as this is not as crowded as Dal lake and hence a lot more quiet. The morning views are just amazing from both banks of this lake.

Better than Dal lake, its not very crowded and touristy so stay and experience the peacefulness. Nigeen Lake in Srinagar is a hidden gem as its not very popular but the moment you enter and stay here, you will feel the difference. Houseboat owners are very welcoming and sweet. You will get a boat ride to each to the actual hotel boat so just come at taxi station , the owner will send you the boat taxi to pick you up.

Nigeen lake is very calm and peaceful place than dal lake.

Why is Nigeen Lake famous? The lake is a major tourist attraction in Srinagar, known for its relatively pristine waters as compared to the Dal lake. Houseboats and Shikaras are a usual sight. Its also ideal for swimming, being deeper and less crowded than the Dal lake.

Wonderful tulip garden, pride of India. Very well managed. The garden has wide variety of Tulips and other flowers. One can spend as much as you want. There are benches to sit and relax and enjoy the beautiful flowers and the surrounding mountains. Only problem is that it rains a lot during the Tulip season. The garden opens at 9 AM, after 6 PM the lights are on and it increases the beauty of the place. Best time to visit the tulip garden is about 10 to 11 AM to avoid rain. There are Wash rooms near the entry gate.

Every year in the month of April, the Jammu Kashmir government celebrates the Tulip Festival in which tourists can enjoy breathtaking views of the gardens at their full bloom. It is south Asia’s largest Tulip festival that has been named after the Indian PM, the late Indira Gandhi (Donno why..). This Festival displays a large variety of tulips and boasts 60 varieties of multi-colored tulips. A Must Visit Place. Absolutely stunning garden at foothills of Zabarwan range. Opens for about 3-4 weeks in a year (around March-April). No drinking water or any eatables available inside the park. Parking is another issue and total chaos ... Long walks to the park from parking , so carry water and energy drinks.

This is a must visit (if it's open) if your are traveling to Srinagar during end March or early April. One of the best garden I have ever seen. It is a paradise for flower lover. Miles of colourful tulip flowers looks very good. You can get few awesome photographs there as well.

This place is truly heaven on the earth. The mesmerizing beauty of the full bloom tulips is just amazing. And the surrounding ranges made this beauty more special. We visited on 31st of March 2022 and our experience was also awesome. Though at that time the place was full of crowded but after seeing the beauty it was worth a visit. Better try to visit the place within last week of March to April 10th if you want to see real beauty of full bloom tulips. One of the must visiting place in it's season. Its best to visit when tulips are blooming from March end to April 3rd week. Its little far away from Srinagar city center so not so crowded and there are so many varieties of tulips. They have arranged it properly and you will take around 2 hours to explore the garden. Also you can experience beautiful sunset. There are terrace system here, so have slopes to climb to reach the top position in order to see properly blooming tulips.

This place is the best attraction in Srinagar. I spent half a day and went twice in the garden. The beauty is unbelievable. Everything looks unreal. They have good management. They provide extra security and roadside food is available as well.

We visited this garden just 2 days after it was thrown open for tourists. Though location offers spectacular views and we feel pleasant vibes.Also being the only place in India where Tulips are cultivated we were very excited to witness it's beauty. On arrival we were bit disappointed to see very less number of tulip bulbs. What we see on insta,Reels is just small portion of garden.rest are just species of other flowers or tulip plant without flower or very little grown tulip. Tourists spend double than actual price towards Airline Tickets just to enjoy tulips.Management should open this only when tulips are fully grown and garden offers dense variety of fully grown tulips. For photos there is a bit relief as management also offers tulips in pots so that you can at least click some photos with full grown dense tulips grown in pots.

A nice place to visit. It is the largest tulip garden of Asia. Nice weather while I was visiting. Too many people visit here during the visiting hours of the day. Someone feels like crowded. But the place situated in the valley between the hills will surely mesmerize to you. Security personnel were everywhere so please don't do something unlawful activities. Nearby you can also enjoy the Dal Lake. You may park here your vehicle in large parking and also enjoy delicious food outside the garden.

Tulip Gardens was our first priority during this trip, and, fortunately that happened since we came on the first week of April. Well maintained garden, spreading over a vast scape with capturing colours of Tulips. Being a group tour, we didn't have the time we needed to be here (A full day is needed for a Photographic Enthusiast !) The travel company offered us more than an hour in this vast scape of vibes !

Tulips were at 40-50% bloom, they must be at full bloom by apr 1st week, great place to visit, but very crowded due to seasonality. Be prepared to walk 1 km from parking. Avoid evenings, go as early as possible. Toilet/Lavatory facilities are absolute nonsense, there is a queue even for men (no urinals)

The scenery was eye catching. The garden was equipped with resting chairs. A vast range of flowers were present. Muslims can offer prayer in congregation. Overall it is okay. It only opens in April.

Great place to spend time. You will lose your way into the mesmerizing beauties of Tulips blossoming in the garden. It's a big garden. You need to buy tickets for entry. The Tulips only blossom during the month of April. So try to get there on April.

The place is not fully blossom on 28th March 2024 but it is still beautiful there are loads of tulip which are bloomed. There are varities of flowers to explore other than tulip. There is ample paid parking space and the entry fees is of 75/- for Indian citizens. There are facilities like washrooms available. Once you enter the garden there are no eateries. The garden is huge so one should take out some time in hand when visiting the garden.

A very beautiful garden present in Kashmir. We visited in the second week of April. There were lots of Tulip, in different sizes and colours. It was raining too, so the weather was pleasant. We enjoyed the visit.

The Tulip Garden is very beautiful, the tulips were in full bloom when we visited. Huge area of tulips with the majestic mountains in the background provides a great visual experience. Ticket prices are Rs250 for adults. The tulip season starts in April (and I think they are there till end of the month of April) About 1-1.5hrs needed to see the area, however there is about 5-10 minutes of walk from the parking area.

One of most picturesque valley and park I have ever seen. Lush green valley surrounded by snow peak hills and tall trees. Park is also well maintained. River bed inside the park is the most beautiful spot inside the park. Washrooms and few food stalls are inside the park. Entry fees was Rs 100 per person which is little bit on the higher side.

You will encounter many pony riders who will hound you to take a ride around some point. Honestly, you can just avoid the pony ride and walk through the woods and trees, alongside the stream and vast patch of green. The chill of the air, the fresh smell of trees, and the musk of wood are beyond articulation. You can sit peacefully on the wooden benches and enjoy some tranquility and peace time There are vendors who have fancy dressed goats who take a picture with you, although I found it a little sad to see them cruelly tilt the goats' legs just to get the right pose:(

Betaab Valley is actually a park with valley and river inside. There is a 100rupee entry to the park. You can visit the park in pony or single trolley. There is even a children play area inside. Great place for a picnic. Also the river bed here is low on one side and hence you can soak the feets here. Some families were even bathing inside the river. The view is amazing here as well.

It's a beautiful place, though crowded mostly but a lovely place to visit with family and friends. Can go deep inside and there's a river flowing where you can chill with your team. It's primarily a scenic beauty so you can just sit and relax here, better would be if you take some food along with you. There are shops and vendors inside so you can buy from them as well. Like most of Kashmir, Betab ( gets its name from the shooting of the film of the same name) is amazingly beautiful. It was a little crowded with tourists and the local vendors and the photographers and guides do pester you a lot. If you can get past that...nature is at its best.

A very serene and scenic place to visit. The valley is full of snow while we visited in the month of February. You get so many amazing views and locations to get yourself clicked for a lifetime memory. Specially the people here are very sweet and supportive. But beware when it comes to negotiating for the guide and sledge, it is just beyond the boundaries. Do visit and have fun with your loved ones.

A beautiful valley but we were not satisfied seeing the children park and the other artificial things. Usually we love to enjoy the nature but sometimes places become full of artificial things that it losses its natural beauty. Though we enjoy the valley from a view point where we reach by hiking and one can go there on horseback. That place was really beautiful.

Beautiful view of pine 🌲 trees and snow covered mountain 🏔️ You can ride 🐎 pony to go to take close view of mountains. Entry fee ₹100/head. Parking is free. Public facilities are available. The best time to go is summer when the grass is green. One day is enough for entire tour of pahalgam.

Cheshma shahi Garden is also a historical place as it serves the best fresh water. Jawaharlal Nehru drinks the water of this garden and it was delivered to Delhi when he was Prime Minister of India. The garden presents such a calm and quiet atmosphere. Lots of trees are present full of shades and flower beds. You can rest under the trees and enjoy the vibes of nature.

One of the most beautiful gardens in Srinagar. One can see many varieties of flowers there. Also there is a continuous flow of cold drinking water . It is located at sone height from the city . People visiting this place with some extra luggage will have to go through an entire scanning of luggage. No alcohol etc are permitted inside the premises

Though we heard a lot about this one but we really does not feel anything special about this. May be due to October season not much flower or decoration present in garden and it was looking very ordinary. It may be a good picnic spot and a good roam around for couples in the afternoon. Ticket price is less @ 25 per person. Inside garden you will find paid photographers who will take your photo at a cost in Kashmiri dress. May be it will become amazing in flowering season but for now 3 stars only.

I visited during late March, before the flowers had bloomed, yet the view of Dal Lake and the surrounding mountains remained pleasant. Despite the high number of visitors to this garden, I was surprised by the poor condition of the restroom.

Ok place. Just gardens nothing very exciting or specific to see. Flowers you can see in any nursery. You can almost skip all these gardens unnecessarily have to pay entry fees though small amounts 24 rs per adult( don’t know why this odd amount).

Very nice view and an wonderful place to cover. Generally not covered in regular tour plan provided by tour planner. Even cab driver did not agree to go probably due to narrow roads and limited parking availability. Ticket cost is regular as other places. Very few tourist can be seen here. Tulip Garden is visible from here. Also overall nice place.

Pari Mahal was a place where Buddhist Monks used to meditate. The present structure was made by Dara Shikhou over and above the Buddhist Monastery ruins. There are certain compartments which are clearly evident to be related to Buddhist era. The place lives upto it's moniker. The enchanting stone fort ruins nestled in the mountains overlooking Srinagar does feel like a watchful fairy of sorts. But what truly captured my heart was the unparalleled views. Luckily i arrived at Sunset with a light drizzle. It's the closest I've been to heaven.

It is a seven-terraced Mughal garden located at the top of Zabarwan mountain range, overlooking the city of Srinagar and the Dal Lake. However travelling there by car will be a mess as parking is limited and in summers there will be traffic jams near its entrance. I will suggest to park car at Chesmashahi and walk to it or use an autorickshaw.

This palace is beautifully located at top of the hill and one of the best view point of Dal lake and the entire city. Garden is nicely maintained and the roads towards the palace is covered with jungle so it makes up for a great drive. Traditional costumes/dresses are also available here for a photo shoot on rent.

Beautiful view from the site and is a must-visit place. It has multiple levels with viewpoints. You enter from the center level and can go up and/or down. Best to visit during summer for a good and full view. March and April can be rainy and foggy. Auto charge between 300-400 Rs or 1 site 1 hour and if u park ur car at Tulip Garden then take auto 300 Rs up down. The roads are blocked by authorities due to too much traffic on weekends, public holidays, or just after Eid, so plan well to visit.

Do not go in March - May season as it is always raining. Best time to visit would be in full summer months when the skies are predictable and clear. Be advised that there many stairs to climb, so those travelling with parents and grandparents should carry walking aids. Beautiful old palace located on the side of a mountain surrounded by tall pine trees. It has a spectacular view of Srinagar, Dal lake, tulip gardens and the valley, as well as the snow-capped Himalaya mountains in the distance. I was a bit disappointed at the visible modern-style renovations to the walls and fountain plumbing. The new stone work is identical to the renovations at other gardens like Nishat Bagh. It's nice to see that J&K tourism development agencies are doing maintenance, but the palace loses its historical charm when the original block work is gone. I also wish there were more boards showing historical context and events. At present, there is only 1 very summarised plaque close to the entrance. It is always nice to know the history behind a majestic royal home.

The ancient ruins of the fort is very enchanting. There is a garden and several viewpoints in this monument. It is situated on the Boulevard road near Dal lake, Srinagar. The road to this fort also has great views. Parking space is available. The fare is Rs 24 for each adult.

The view for Pari Mahal is extraordinary. It has beautiful garden on top floor where you can sit, relax and enjoy the view. It has 4 floors. The view from every floor is same. You can get your photos clicked in kashmir dress if you want. There is problem for parking there, very limited space is available. So you have to park on roadside and walk a little bit.

We visited the garden during autumn season and the garden was embellished with the golden leaves .. the mighty Himalayas gives its protective shades to the park which adds the serenity and peacefulness. An artificial pond is maintained inside the park though it was not much maintained at that time . Autumn provides an altogether different experience to the visitors although the flora was not much expressive then ... we can have a long peaceful walk through the garden and can capture some of its beauties ..

Looks like an amazing garden in general. But right now a couple buildings are under construction and the water is turned off so the fountains are not there. Sad to see a great place getting ruined. Supposedly under renovation. That should have been informed at the ticket counter and gate. Place not getting maintained even beyond the construction/renovation areas. Plants withering away at places, garbage left by visitors stream around (so sadly). Tree trunk in the photo seems to have fallen some 1 year back and had not been removed.

Shalimar Bagh is a Mughal garden in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. Linked through a channel to the northeast of Dal Lake. It is also known as Shalimar Gardens, Farah Baksh, and Faiz Baksh. The other famous shoreline garden in the vicinity is Nishat Bagh, 'The Garden of Delight'. The Bagh was built by Mughal Emperor Jahangir in 1619. The Bagh is considered the high point of Mughal horticulture. It is now a public park and also referred to as the "Crown of Srinag. Shalimar Bagh was built by Mughal Emperor Jahangir in 1619. He enlarged the ancient garden in 1619 into a royal garden and called it 'Farah Baksh' ('the delightful'). In 1630, under Emperor Shah Jahan’s orders, Zafar Khan the governor of Kashmir extended it. He named it ‘Faiz Baksh’ ('the bountiful'). It then became a pleasure place for the Sikh governors of the province. During the rule of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the marble pavilion was the guest house for European visitors. Electrification of the premises was done during Maharaja Hari Singh’s rule. Thus, over the years, the garden was extended and improved by many rulers and called by different names, but the most popular name ‘Shalimar Bagh’ continues to this day. During the Mughal period, in particular, Emperor Jahangir and his wife Nur Jahan were so enamoured of Kashmir that during summer they moved to Srinagar with their full-court entourage from Delhi at least 13 times. Shalimar Bagh was their imperial summer residence and the Royal Court. They crossed the arduous snowy passes of the Pir Panjal mountain range on elephants to reach Srinagar. befitting setting for the Bagh. The Shalimar Bagh is well known for chini khanas, or arched niches, behind garden waterfalls. They are a unique feature in the Bagh. These niches were lighted at night with oil lamps, which gave a fairy tale appearance to the waterfalls. However, now the niches hold pots of flower pots that reflect their colours behind the cascading water. Another unusual architectural feature mentioned is about the doors of the Baradari. In the garden complex, the Baradari had four exquisite doors made of stones supported by pillars. It is conjectured that these stone doors were ruins from old temples that were demolished by Shahjahan. The garden also provided large water troughs where a variety of fountains were fixed. It has been aptly described by a chronicler glowingly: A subtle air of leisure and repose, a romantic indefinable spell, pervades the royal Shalimar: this leafy garden of dim vistas, shallow terraces, smooth sheets of falling water, and wide canals, with calm reflections broken only by the stepping stones across the streams. Even in later years, during Maharaja's rule, the gardens were well maintained and continue to be so even now as it is one of the prominent visitor attractions around the Dal Lake. Well maintained garden and the enter od 24 per person is also reasonable. The garden is just little inside the Dal lake road. The view of the garden and nearby mountains is great. You see flowers all over the garden. The stream of water in middle of the garden add 5 stars to the beauty of garden. Parking is little issue, but you can manage it. Outside the garden you see hackers. The hackers are very expansive. I think full Kashmir is over expansive.

Went here on 30/04/23. The route to this garden was pretty crowded due to the tourist season. The garden itself has an entry fee of 25-50rs.only. Many areas of the garden were still under development and renovation. It is pleasant and full of beautiful flowers, any macro photographers paradise. A wide variety of flowers in bloom, in rows and bushes all around. Amazing photo spots. Lawns well maintained. We spent about an hour here. Outside the gardens, lot of options available for shopping at reasonable rates.

The garden is beautiful for sure however the garden has some magical ancient architecture which has been violated to a point where its just sad. The renovation work is ongoing as you can see in the images . There also stands a legendary 365 year old chinar tree thats been standing guard in the garden since the gardens glorious creation

Worth a visit to see breathtaking snow capped Himalyan ranges in the background and a nice fountain in the middle on the banks of Dal Lake in Srinagar. There are also several statues and monuments throughout the gardens, making it a great spot for a leisurely stroll or picnic. You can see all types of people from tourists to locals enjoying the gardens. There's a person who’s always playing the flute in the garden.

Garden is very beautiful and best place to spend quality time with family especially with kids. You will see greenery all the way and you will see lot of different kind of flowers. I visited this place with my family and it was worth to visit. A must visit garden. Do not miss to visit this place if you are in the city. Take your friends along to make some sweet memories. Take your camera along with you . You can get some best shots in this garden.

The view from here is amazing. Sad that we didn't able to enjoy much because it was on renovation. But scenic was good.

For foreigners: 24 Rupees (~0.3 $) The Mughal loved the gardens. It may be the most favourite one among the Mughal gardens in Srinagar. If you visit in the winter, you will likely see dried flowers as it's cold and lacks sunlight. Better to go there during spring or summer time. You can still see the historical structures and buildings though.

Under reconstruction and should be fabulous when that work is done. Particularly if they make sure the 410 fountains are working and the pavilions are restored to their original glory. It must have been a spectacular garden at one time, but that glory needs to be recaptured

It's an amazing garden however its complete beauty can be experienced at March-April when there will be greenery all around the Garden. Now I visited at December when it's autumn for Srinagar, so there were no greenery. But still an amazing and beautiful Destination in Srinagar.

We visited the garden during autumn season and the garden was embellished with the golden leaves .. the mighty Himalayas gives its protective shades to the park which adds the serenity and peacefulness. An artificial pond is maintained inside the park though it was not much maintained at that time . Autumn provides an altogether different experience to the visitors although the flora was not much expressive then ... we can have a long peaceful walk through the garden and can capture some of its beauties ..

Looks like an amazing garden in general. But right now a couple buildings are under construction and the water is turned off so the fountains are not there. It is in a beautiful setting and if this is your only chance to see it, I guess you go, but you know you're missing the beauty of flowing water.

Beautiful place and one of the best Mughal garden in Srinagar. This place has a different charm in different seasons. Lush green in summers, golden in autumn and rusty surreal in winters. I happen to visit in December and had a surreal experience.Visit here if you want some peaceful quiet time with your self.

Well maintained and beautiful gardens. Had a great experience with family. Lots of colorful flowers, with good backdrop of mountains. You can spend lot of time ~2-4 hours as the gardens are very big. Not much crowded and ample space and time to take photos. Ticket charges are Rs 24 for adult and Rs 12 for kids.

It is one of the most beautiful gardens in Srinagar. It is known here as Mughal Garden. The garden is very well maintained. The entire garden is decorated with various colorful flowering plants. There are some artificial ponds in the garden, in which small and large fountains are made, which make the ponds look very beautiful. Moreover, the surrounding view of the garden is surrounded by beautiful mountains, all together creating a wonderful atmosphere.

Sad to see a great place getting ruined. Supposedly under renovation. That should have been informed at the ticket counter and gate. Place not getting maintained even beyond the construction/renovation areas. Plants withering away at places, garbage left by visitors stream around (so sadly). Tree trunk in the photo seems to have fallen some 1 year back and had not been removed.

Shalimar Bagh is a Mughal garden in Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir. Linked through a channel to the northeast of Dal Lake. It is also known as Shalimar Gardens, Farah Baksh, and Faiz Baksh. The other famous shoreline garden in the vicinity is Nishat Bagh, 'The Garden of Delight'. The Bagh was built by Mughal Emperor Jahangir in 1619. The Bagh is considered the high point of Mughal horticulture. It is now a public park and also referred to as the "Crown of Srinag. Shalimar Bagh was built by Mughal Emperor Jahangir in 1619. He enlarged the ancient garden in 1619 into a royal garden and called it 'Farah Baksh' ('the delightful'). In 1630, under Emperor Shah Jahan’s orders, Zafar Khan the governor of Kashmir extended it. He named it ‘Faiz Baksh’ ('the bountiful'). It then became a pleasure place for the Sikh governors of the province. During the rule of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, the marble pavilion was the guest house for European visitors. Electrification of the premises was done during Maharaja Hari Singh’s rule. Thus, over the years, the garden was extended and improved by many rulers and called by different names, but the most popular name ‘Shalimar Bagh’ continues to this day. During the Mughal period, in particular, Emperor Jahangir and his wife Nur Jahan were so enamoured of Kashmir that during summer they moved to Srinagar with their full-court entourage from Delhi at least 13 times. Shalimar Bagh was their imperial summer residence and the Royal Court. They crossed the arduous snowy passes of the Pir Panjal mountain range on elephants to reach Srinagar. befitting setting for the Bagh. The Shalimar Bagh is well known for chini khanas, or arched niches, behind garden waterfalls. They are a unique feature in the Bagh. These niches were lighted at night with oil lamps, which gave a fairy tale appearance to the waterfalls. However, now the niches hold pots of flower pots that reflect their colours behind the cascading water. Another unusual architectural feature mentioned is about the doors of the Baradari. In the garden complex, the Baradari had four exquisite doors made of stones supported by pillars. It is conjectured that these stone doors were ruins from old temples that were demolished by Shahjahan. The garden also provided large water troughs where a variety of fountains were fixed. It has been aptly described by a chronicler glowingly: A subtle air of leisure and repose, a romantic indefinable spell, pervades the royal Shalimar: this leafy garden of dim vistas, shallow terraces, smooth sheets of falling water, and wide canals, with calm reflections broken only by the stepping stones across the streams. Even in later years, during Maharaja's rule, the gardens were well maintained and continue to be so even now as it is one of the prominent visitor attractions around the Dal Lake. Really nice garden. Flower planting & gardening is awesome. Lots of fountains are there. Also washroom & drinking water facility is fair. Entry fee 24 Rs for adult. Location is near to market.

Well maintained garden and the enter od 24 per person is also reasonable. The garden is just little inside the Dal lake road. The view of the garden and nearby mountains is great. You see flowers all over the garden. The stream of water in middle of the garden add 5 stars to the beauty of garden. Parking is little issue, but you can manage it. Outside the garden you see hackers. The hackers are very expansive. I think full Kashmir is over expansive.

Went here on 30/04/23. The route to this garden was pretty crowded due to the tourist season. The garden itself has an entry fee of 25-50rs.only. Many areas of the garden were still under development and renovation. It is pleasant and full of beautiful flowers, any macro photographers paradise. A wide variety of flowers in bloom, in rows and bushes all around. Amazing photo spots. Lawns well maintained. We spent about an hour here. Outside the gardens, lot of options available for shopping at reasonable rates.

The garden is beautiful for sure however the garden has some magical ancient architecture which has been violated to a point where its just sad. The renovation work is ongoing as you can see in the images . There also stands a legendary 365 year old chinar tree thats been standing guard in the garden since the gardens glorious creation

I have visited this place so many years ago and still nothing new has happened with respect to maintenance and development ... Needs maintenance and dedicated efforts. No good parks, the landscape full of horse and smells really bad.. The best thing perhaps is if you go to Doodhganga and enjoy the waters and the other side where its more of natural and great scenic spots.

Visited in July. Full of greenery and grazing animals on the picturesque green lawns is an amazing feeling. Need to take pony rides to reach the spots after parking(Do negotiate for a better deal). The best spot is Doodh Ganga.worth the time spent. Rest all spots are just useless,purposely created. Snacks,food,tea stalls available.

Personally, for me this was the best tourist spot in entire Kashmir. The place is very underrated and there aren't many tourists compared to Gulmarg and Sonamarg. Anyone who plans to visit Kashmir must keep Yousmarg on their list.

Offbeat place. Beautiful but takes almost 1.5 hours to reach from Srinagar. I visited in October end but it was bit sunny. You need to take ponies to reach proper view point. I recommend to visit this place only if have covered gulmarg, pahalgam and sonmarg.

Decent place for 1 day trip. Takes around 2.5 hours from Srinagar. Once you reach the entrance its 2-3 km hike towards a river side.

Lovely place to visit. We took horses to Dudhganga. It was an amazing experience. The path is through a bit of jungle with little ups and downs. It was a lovely ride. The river is beautiful. You can enjoy some time near the river with tea and other snacks. Overall a very good experience.

Beautiful place but no good place to have lunch. There is one resort named as Zeezayn Huts & Resorts who was giving lunch but it was so bad that we didn’t eat a single bit. We just tasted and left after giving him whole amount. Everything was having some smell in it. He initially said that he will be quick and wasted our 2 hours there. Apart from that it was good. We didn’t observed any snow there and thay have pony rides so one can visit waterfall but it was too far so we didn’t ho there

Mata kheer Bhavani temple is a must visit place in Srinagar like Shankaracharya temple. You can sit hear and find inner peace hear. Less crowded in winters

A place of worship for Hindus under the Chinar trees of Kashmirs. The temple is in Military Cant area. You get the Kheer as prasad here.

Jai mata di… This is a beautiful temple… in a beautiful location.. The area around temple is so big that devotees can sit and spend time here to find the peace.. This is an ancient time temple so must be given a visit.. “Hey Maa sabka kalyan karein”

Amazing place where you will feel positive vibes . It's about 25 km from Srinagar and the way is from Gandarbal . The Kheer Bhawani Mandir is in Tulamula village which is 8 km from Gandarbal. Here in this Mandir you have to offered milk to Devi Maa so the water in the tank made in surrounding of the temple become milky . Bhakts and the local residents consider that when this milky water become dark or when it changes it's color ...It's a sign of some mishappening.

The temple is situated at almost 25 km from Srinagar, in the village Tulmul, Ganderbal district. The place is very serene and pure. The temple is very well maintained and managed by J&K Dharmarth trust. It has a very huge campus which includes Tourist rest house surrounded by many chinar trees and a small lake. So many people across the country come here to worship the resident deity , Mata kheer Bhavani also known as Ragnya Devi. The temple is specially crowded during the annual kheer bhavani mela which held during May-June month every year. The temple name Kheer Bhavani came because of the delicious rice pudding (Kheer) offered here as prasad. I was very fortunate to visit this place. One who travelling from Srinagar towards Sonmarg should not miss this place. Just a small diversion will take you to this divine place. The temple has a ample space for parking your vehicle, and highly secured by the officials. You will find many restaurants and dhabas nearby.

This is considered to be the most important temple for Kashmiri pandits. The Goddess in an Atmalinga form at Kheer Bhawani.

Very large Compound of Temple. It's divinity can't be express in words or picture, must visit destination of Kashmir. One Ancient shivling also there. Jayestha Ashtmi is birthday a large fair is organised there.

This Devi temple is located at about 20 kms from Srinagar city centre. This is a kul-dev for Kashmiri Pandiths ( Saraswat Brahmins). The main idol is surrounded by water which changes its colour, which is an indication of good or bad omen or situation going to happen in near future in the country. It is the only Devi temple with shiv ling next to goddess. The temple premise also has Hanuman mandir and shiv mandir. The temple is well guarded by CRPF soldiers, and it comes under J&K Dharmarth trust. Langar Prasadam is also provided in temple. A must visit sacred holy place in Srinagar….Jai Mara di…..

The temple is situated in tullamulla in ganderbal district. The temple is dedicated to Mata Ragyna devi. Every year on jesth ashtami annual function is held .The temple is a popular pilgrimage site for Hindus, especially Kashmiri Pandits . The temple is well maintained . Parasd is served in the form of kheer . There are many small hindu daba's where pure vegetarian food is available .

A holy place in worship lord Shiva and adi sakti . A very calm and peaceful place with a beautiful environment. I enjoyed it a lot

A beautiful and quite old hindu temple of Maata Bhawani .🌼 The feeling of peaceful spiritual ambience is so rare amid of Jammu and Kashmir. The whole mandir area is pretty clean and nice. They offer Kheer and sooji halwa prasad to the visitors.

The temple is on the way to sonamarg. It requires a small diversion at ganderbal. The temple is well guarded by security forces to protect the temple . Two important things to see is the pond on which the temple is constructed and the amzing shape odour country made by huge Chinar trees. As I entered the inner compound this time, there was a distinct effect on me. It was like a cloud of peace and tranquility descended and engulfed my soul. A feeling of calm. Desire to close my eyes and just feel the aura.

It is 1.5 hrs away from Srinagar , well connected with Roads and A secure place to visit in the Ganderbal District of North Kashmir.
