This beach is pretty cool for sunsets and to hang out with the kids. The waves are not very high and have seen lot of families with kids hanging out here. Right across the road there are ton of amazing food options to explore after spending some time at the beach. Must visit!

Beautiful! The beach is wide and very, very long - plenty of room for hundreds of people to stretch out and not be piled on top of one another. Public parking is only a two- or three-minute walk away, with bathrooms and an outdoor shower. There is also a small cafe right next to the beach access. Awesome!

Although almost all beaches in Hawaii are absolutely perfect, this is certainly one that I could single out among the best beaches. I just love it! See for yourself why.

Beautiful beach to watch the waves rush in. We were even able to make a few whale sightings. Just don't make the mistake of thinking the beach chairs and umbrella are there for public use. After you get settled in a nice man will come and tell you they are for resort guests only, or you can rent them for $45, even though there are no signs posted. Guess we should have known better. 🙃

There's public parking and showers, but most of all, there's a wide-open beach and a beachfront where families can play all day. Especially if you look hard enough, you'll find sea turtles swimming around beach.

Excellent white sand beach that is shallow enough for a bit. Mornings till about 11 the water is calmer. Great for paddle boarding and kayaking. After 11 the wind starts picking up. The waves can get pretty high and are great for bodyboards, but the water gets cloudy. There are beach chairs and umbrellas from several hotels but enough space in the middle for people with their own chairs. There's no shade, but can put down the towel and enjoy the sun. Rocky parts to the right and left that are fun for Snorkeling.

Nice and peaceful bay, soft sand, and in the right season whale views. Not much parking for public but can park at nearby Uloa Beach and take the 10 minute walk over

The water was a tad cold, but it's the ocean what can you expect. Pretty mild waves, great for my 5 year old niece, just be careful about getting the sea water in your eyes. If you stay in the evening you can watch the sun set here, and it's breath taking. Not too busy of a beach but definitely still quite popular. I wholeheartedly recommended it!

Great flat beach with not too many people. Waves aren't big most of the time, great place to hang out.

Very nice beach. Water is clear and waves are small. Can be crowded and there isn't a lot of depth to beach like Big Beach/Makena. Lots of hotels and water activity going on, so not quiet and secluded at all. Maybe 25 parking spaces.

Would definitely recommend. - Sand was amazing and fine (not rocky) - Water was clear and warm, but you should get there earlier in the day as the waves get quite large and after a certain point you can’t really swim in them as they turn into “surfer waves”. - Lifeguard on Duty - Plenty of space for you to set up camp but not a lot areas that had shade - Paid parking (and limited spots) BUT if you don’t mind the 5 min walk then park on the side of the road!

Amazing beach! Super clear water, soft sand, some shade from the trees, pretty empty with only a few people around. The waves are big! No joke! So be careful going in & out of the water. I saw a few people snorkeling further out & some people surfing. The state park has a $10 parking fee but we drove a bit past the parking lot & parked on the side of the road for free. This beach is super chill & relaxing & was one of our favorite beaches in Maui! Definitely check it out

Makena has a huge stretch of sand. There could be hundreds of people here but you wouldn’t know it. Good parking and food trucks. Gentle waves but sort of dangerous with the steep pitch of the beach. Still fun. Only con is the $10 state parking fee. Not a big deal. Nice beach.

This beach would absolutely receive 5 stars if it had water to clean off the sand! OMG, you pay $20 per car then another $5 per person and they can’t afford to install water like most other beaches have? Plus, those other beaches don’t charge for parking too!!!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoy going to this beach. The waves are rough so we just watch and enjoy having a picnic here. Please be careful swimming here as the current is very strong.

She's my favorite beach. Such a long stretch of beautiful consistent waves. Read a book and vibe out or play in nature's wave pool. Snorkeling is fun here if it's not too choppy. Beautiful!!!

Nicknamed Big Beach. Yes, it's a big beautiful piece of beach toward the end of the Wailea resort area. Enjoy but take care of your opala and check with the lifeguard on duty. The undertow here can be deceiving to the inexperienced. Little Beach is over the rock hill.

Nice clean beach with paved parking lot. Life guards on duty- frequent warnings about heavy wave break. Not the best place for little kids to swim, but kids could still have fun here with the right supervision. Tons of space on the beach on a Tuesday, we arrived at 830am and there were only 3 cars. Parking fees and $5 State park fee all paid through Park Mobile app. All very convenient and easy. You can see Molokini Crater in the distance and little beach is just beyond the rocks on the north end of the beach. Snorkeling was a no go due to the crazy turbulence in the water when we were there but I would still recommend this beach. On the way out there are two resident Taco Trucks, we at Jazzys, it’s legit and not too expensive, maybe $13-15 per person.

This is hands down one of my favorite beaches to swim at! I love how blue the water is and it’s always so sunny and beautiful at this beach! This is definitely a perfect beach to tan, swim, and relax at!

Beautiful and very large beach in the southwest of Maui. Very clean and beautiful. The water is also clear. Me and my wife really loved it and spend the most time on this beach of all the beaches in Maui. Only downside on this beach is that there are no showers. There is also parking fee of $10 and $5 for each visitor. It is a self pay.

A true beauty! The waves are usually too harsh, great for surfing, not so much for a typical swim. A walk along the beach is a must, breathtaking views. Bring lunch or breakfast with you, no food options unless it changed recently. A bit of a walk from the parking lot, but worth it!

It was paradiae on earth. Many waves, next to Little Beach which is a nude beach. Usually entrance fee to Makena Beach is $5 but at times you can get by without paying.

The more popular and crowded beach. We loved it and enjoyed watching the turtles play in the waves.

If you choose the wrong day, unfortunately you will not be able to enjoy the full potential of the beach. Besides, apart from the sand and the view, this beach will not offer you much more than that.

Another beach i don't get. First,it's $10 a car +$5/person?! Plenty of other free beaches. Second,super dangerous apparently! Waves are big and looked fun. Until after some rough boogie boarding with my daughter was tossing us around and we thought it was just some rough fun, that a life guard actually came over in an atv to talk to us and make sure we're ok and said they actually don't recommend boogie boarding in these waves because of rip currents and how strong they are. They also told another father son combo the same thing. Now, there were others there and I'm 100% sure life guards weren't singling us out and just wanted to inform us that there are a large number of broken neck injuries as people get tossed and head get stuck insane and then snapped. We even asked if there was another section of beach that might be safer for kids and they said not really. FYI we were just to left of lifeguard station close to entrance. We didn't get back in water after that and left shortly after to a sign that says it's one of the most dangerous beaches? Crazy! Would definitely avoid this one. Oh, sand was nice!

It’s a nice beach, less crowded and lot of room to tent/relax. Not a safe one to swim and have fun in water. Just a second you might end up in serious spinal cord or neck injuries. Make sure to read the warning sign in the beach entrance, it lists everything you might see/experience. There’s paid parking that includes your entrance fee as well, no shower in the beach so plan accordingly. Sunset is beautiful.

Amazing experience!! The waves are MASSIVE if you haven’t heard lol. Beware there is a charge for parking ($10) and per person ($5) - this must be to pay for the lifeguards, which is important on this beach. Also, there are no showers, but we found some a few minutes away at another beach.

Great beach for snorkeling- we saw a sea turtle- that had large enough waves for us to body surf! There are amenities here (bathroom, showers) and a smaller parking lot. So far, our favorite beach because of all of the action. The beach itself isn’t large and was rather full when we were there. I recommend getting there early to get parking and a beach spot

BEST BEACH IN MAUI Beautiful beach in Wailea! The water was calm and the sand was soft and clean. There are showers and restrooms near the beach and lots of parking. Even though it’s near hotels it is not crowded. I took pictures at this beach 10 years ago and this year I took new family pictures near the beach and the beautiful scenery was a perfect background. This was by far my favorite beach in Maui and the prettiest beach in Maui. Even the drive to the beach is green and tropical. Sometimes you can even watch a luau from a nearby hotel on the beach. It deserves 100 stars! ❤️❤️❤️

Maybe we were not lucky, but the beach was full of people. There is a promenade along the beach along the luxury hotels and all the tourists from the hotels were at this beach. I didn't find a great spot for snorkeling here either.

We arrived here following local recommendation and we discovered excellent beach. The beach is so beautiful with an option for shady spots. Not sure what all the “great snorkeling” posts are referring to. Spent an hour exploring everywhere from shore along the north break out a couple hundred yards. Saw 1 urchin, and 1 fish. Water was clear but sea life was non existent. If your in it for the swim then maybe it’s great, but it was a dud the day we went.

Such a great family beach. Fantastic snorkeling and scuba diving here. Clean bathrooms, nice outdoor showers. Popular walking path.

Lovely beach with awesome coral and rocks to the right. Waves get heavy and difficult to swim in from about 10am and on, but that’s normal with most beaches on this side of the island.

Lovely beach with lots of shade earlier in the day. Snorkeling on the north end is 5 stars! Even on a less visible day, there's lots to see. You have to swim a ways out but it's not difficult. Bathrooms and 2 outdoor shower heads available. Lots of parking available but the lot fills up by 10 or 11 depending on the day and weather.

This is a great, little beach, perfect for snorkelling. On the South end of the beach, there are some underwater reefs that attract many colourful tropical fish. On the stretch of water in front of the beach, I saw the largest number of turtles in my life (it was the end of June). There are strong waves and there may be currents, so be careful and it's good never to go alone. However, I must say that this beach greatly exceeded my expectations in terms of snorkelling. I wish I had brought a waterproof camera with me.

Nice i’m the writing of shops and selection. From Louis Vuitton, Prada and local stores. This is a place to dine shop and have fun. Walking distance to the beach and nice entertainment for the entire family

Very clean lots of parking. Upscale outdoor mall. Lots of options for food and shopping. From an ABC Store to Prada etc.. I'm not a big mall shopper and didn't explore all the shops. The one I went into was very organized, as clean as the rest of the mall and kept very cool (AC). Love that the mall is outdoor in the very beautiful Maui weather.

Great place to admire beautiful fashion and art work. I highly recommend a gallery where the artisan makes incredible pieces using wood. There’s also a huge ABC Store and a fancy supermarket. When we visited, in Feb 2924, parking was free. Also a wonderful place to kill time if you have a late flight out of Maui.

I love the shops. High-end stores and also some average-priced places to get good swim suits and good food at restaurants or convenience stores. Island Gourmet Market has everything you need for breakfast or lunch or snacks and coffee plus fresh poke, sushi, ramen and alcohol or staple items. Same price as a grocery store within walking distance of the resorts.

This place seemed to be a bit expensive and is an outdoor mall. My wife and I were looking for unique gifts that we found other places. There's a cool woodworker and some other shops however most are name brand shops that are in every mall. When we went there was live music that was amazing.

There is little I like to do less on vacation than go shopping, but it is joy to others and who am I to judge. If you are stuck shopping in south Maui this is a good place. Plenty of comfortable seating for temporary husband storage in a beautiful setting. And with great timing there was a traditional Hawaiin band and an excellent Hula show by a local dance company. Short but well done. And then back to my peaceful papasan chair to wait out dinner. Aloha.

The shops at Wailea are so much fun. This is a 2 level outdoor shopping mall. You will find the ever-present ABC store and plenty of other shops. Must go dine at Tommy Bahamas restaurant within the mall on the 2nd floor and the end. We dined on the lanai within such beautiful surroundings.

There are Shops and Restaurants to keep you busy all day even if they hadn’t sponsored the Emmy award winning slack key musicians with added Hula dancing. Tickets at their concerts else where would have cost $40-50 per person. We were privileged to listen and watch for free. A quick Maui bus ride up to the Shops at Wailea is available from almost anywhere if you don’t want to drive there yourself. Plenty of parking otherwise is also a big plus.

Great shopping experience just steps from most Wailea resorts with a nice Tommy Bahama restaurant and a new Wolfgang Puck's Steakhouse coming!

We love these shops and visit here.Every time we come to maui there are a lot of high end stores and restaurants around this area and it's definitely worth a visit. There's ample parking adjacent to them all and it's free. The shops are very premium and the mall itself is very clean and tidy. The bathrooms were immaculate and it was refreshing to walk into a public bathroom.That wasn't absolutely destroyed.Kudos to the staff that upkeep the facilities. If you were visiting maui I would Definitely recommend a visit to the shops.

Very clean outdoor mall. Many high end shops: Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Tiffany & Co. Plenty of "regular" mall shops as well including the requisite ABC and Whalers General. A great place for window shopping when you want to take a break from the beach.

We spent a lovely few hours there wandering around in the Galleries. There appears to be more Galleries now than before, and the artwork they have is incredible. And of course, we had to stop in at the Honolulu Cookie shop, hard to pass that place up. This visit we sat and had a drink at the Waikiki Bar & Grill, and more through good luck than good management, we hit Happy Hour, bonus. The bartender was great, lots of fun.

Watching the sunset here is just stunning. You can take the most iconic photos of Hawaii here. The path is very easy to walk. It took us an hour and a half with frequent stopping to take photos and enjoy the sunset. We also took time to read the description of the two piles of relocated and reconstructed stones - remains of early Hawaiian houses. We parked at the Ulua Beach carpark around 4pm and it was really easy to find a spot.

Great walk! We grabbed a coffee at the shopping mall on Wailea and parked at the free parking in wailea public beach. It is a very pleasant walk where you can see beautiful nature but also amazing houses!

Such a beautiful surprise!! I didn’t know this walk existed before we chanced on it on our visit to the beach. The walk is on paved path and is stroller accessible.. not crowded with mainly tourists and joggers .. the views are breathtaking.. there is a warning as you enter the path about safety .. as long as you follow signs and posted rules with some common sense it’s a very safe path.. we walked with our 2 year old .. lots of picture opportunities and a nice path to just soak in the sun and ocean vibes without a care in the world .. wish I could walk this path every day of my life ..

Came here almost everyday for several years. I would sit by myself and play ukulele for hours. Swim in the warm waters. Even do homework on the beach. It saddens me to think in 20 years this coastline will be gone because of global warming.

This is a GREAT place to catch sunset, get a nice beach walk in, and if you have dogs, meet other dog owners. Easy parking away from Central Kihei. Two parking lots even!

Really nice beach, great for long walks. Lots of places that look good for swimming, especially the end where the Mana Kai and Hale Hui Kai Condos are situated.

Once a 5-star beach that I loved, but the beach is gone now due to major beach erosion in the area. There is no sand left in front of the Mana Kai Maui Resort. ☹️

Loved the snorkeling at this beach! The visibility was great and the sand soft and fine. Lots of great rocky reef area to explore. Saw tons of fish and even a cool octopus. Stayed at the northern end of the beach. Lucky to have found parking in the free lot at that end around noon on a Sunday!

This is our absolutely our favorite beach! I would say that it’s perfect. It has soft sand and snorkeling that’s better in the morning. We’ve seen turtles there several times swimming between the rocky outcrops. There’s not a lot of rocks or coral so it’s great for swimming. The afternoon currents might not be suitable for kids under 5 but our grade school aged kid loves playing in the waves. There are showers and there’s a deli at the nearby resort. The sunsets are spectacular so you could pull up a beach chair & towel and spend all day here.

Fantastic beach, great snorkeling here, saw lots of turtles and every type of fish off the beach. Not too crowded, but you need to go early to get a decent spot. Sand is beautiful, easy to get in .

Beach is beautiful and not overcrowded. The water isn't too rough but it gets deep quickly. Sunset was nice but the sun dips behind another island just on the horizon as it sets. This doesn't spoil the sunset though and I plan to watch it from here again.

Beautiful beach location. We spend the whole day here swimming and snorkeling. The coral here is very pretty and plenty. We saw two turtles while snorkeling. Only negative thing about this beach is no public restroom. There is a fresh water wash though.

So the actual park was closed the day we visited. We still managed to go to the beach next to it. Very beautiful. Awesome sand Very little shade tho. Bring an umbrella if you have one. My absolute favorite beach and the grassy knoll area with 29 palms is as beautiful as it is relaxing. There are often turtles and always colorful Coral reef fish to see while snorkeling. So thankful ~

This is our favourite beach to go to for boogie boarding, Building sand castles and just floating in the ocean. There is a close parking lot, showers and is normally very quiet and not at all busy.

Makena Beach is the most untouched shorelines of Maui Consist of Big beach and little beach. You can travel from one to another. We visited the big beach early in the mornings and it felt like a private beach that we had to our disposal. It was such a gorgeous beach with soft gold sand, blue and emerald crystal water. One of the most beautiful beach in Hawaii that we experienced with great sand, lava rocks and amazing waves. There were some food trucks to eat across the road to the parking lot. Admission fee is $10 for car and $5 for each person Would highly recommend visiting Makena Beach while in Maui.

Only downfall were those thorns! Wear shoes while walking the beach. The thorns can be hidden under the sand. They were further from the water near the trees but man they hurt! The sunset was stunning! The water was phenomenal! The sand was nice too. Not crowded at all. Loved it here. Oh, there was a parking fee but I didn't pay it. I believe it was $5/person plus an additional $10 for the car. Not too sure on that. Might have been more.

Lovely beach. Interesting sand. And the waves are far more treacherous than they appear. Be careful. We were appreciative of the attentive lifeguards on site. They were very helpful explaining to us the hidden dangers of the waves, even close to shoreline.

This is easily one of Maui’s most scenic natural feeling beaches. Burning hot white sand is hemmed in by volcanic cliffs amid shore breaking waves. Follow the road past Wailea as it worsens and narrows noticeably. Turn right into the first of several pay parking lots. Just past the “shave ice” stand(s) this hidden beach is accessed by a path sheltered by Maui’s natural indigenous trees. A worthy piece of advice? Don’t boogie board here unless you wear a neck brace or hate your dentist. Getting slammed is all too easy. Bring a lawn chair and ample (“ample”) sun prophylactics along with plenty of liquids. The aqua marine/turquoise water should not be missed. This is not a reefed beach but a scenic one- you’ll find some brightly coloured fish and small corals. If you arrive early, the wind and surf are noticeably milder. A life guard station was added in recent years…. Continuing further down the road brings you to an exposed single lane road with great views and pricey homes. The last real stop is a 600 year old lava field some 10-15 min past Makena.

Beach is awesome, like the signs say, there is a strong current, so keep an eye on your kids. Parking is limited, it is a pay to park, $10 for the auto and $5 per person. Attendant is there to help with payment on credit card or download the masterpark app and pay by phone. Two life guard stations on the main beach ⛱️. Both are staffed. Great time as we enjoyed. If you go by the rocky outcroppings you can see marine life for snorkeling, we also saw turtles 🐢 and octopuses 🐙 Great beach day on an awesome beach.

Big beach is a must see when visiting Maui. Be sure to bring an umbrella as there's not too many spots to find shade. The shore break in the summer is fun but dangerous. Winter tends to be best for playing in the safer smaller surf.

I visited Makena Little Beach, and I loved it! It was such a pretty beach. Of the beaches in Maui I visited, this one had the biggest waves. The sand was sooo soft as well! The rocks lining the beach were amazing, I took some amazing pictures of them and as a background for family pictures. Over all, I would highly recommend visiting Makena State Park and its beaches!! For food, although it is a ways out of town, there were some food trucks to eat at. For parking, there is a parking fee per person and hour. I can't remember what the pricing is, but there is one.

Very beautiful beach! But make no mistake about it, the wave tides are treachous. And many break very close to the shore and they hit hard. One hit me so hard I did a summersault in shallow water! Thankfully, I was not injured. There are signs warning people, as well as the lifeguards. But don't let this stop you from visiting. Have fun but be safe!

Perfect beach, lots of unique spots to snorkel just by the coast, and no need to pay for a guide. Bring goggles, snorkel, and possibly GoPro to get amazing photos of sea turtles!

Absolutely gorgeous. If you're not familiar with the ocean, shore break and rip tides, I wouldn't go in the water. The sand is super soft and I was happy to be digging it out of my bag for days!

Probably the best part of Maui, with the exception of maybe Wanapanapa State Park, but that's only because it's a black sand beach. Mākena aka Big Beach is EXACTLY what you envision when you think of Hawaii🏳️‍🌈. Absolutely beautiful water, that's nice and warm, pretty big waves, gorgeous views, just everything you could want. It was quite possibly the most exquisite place on earth.

"Big Beach" and "Little Beach" are ABSOLUTELY the best beaches in Maui. From Little Beach, you can see ALL islands in the county (Kaho'Olawe, Lanai, Moloka'i, West Maui, and Molokini). The strand of sand on big beach is wide, so it's easy to sit apart from others for privacy if desired (so that your music doesn't interfere with that of others and vice-versa). On the other hand, if you want to socialize, there seems to be a good crowd on weekends, particularly by the volleyball courts. The only downside is that little beach closes at 8 pm, and the parking lot to both beaches closes at 7 pm (not sure why the beaches close at at). The solution to this is to simply park outside the parking lot, on the road. Star gazing at night from here (is the skies are clear) is AMAZING.

Excellent beach to enjoy with your partner or family; the beach is quite wide and clean, the water is very clear and there are several resorts and walking areas around it.

Whale watching, huge "big beach," second smaller nude beach called "small or little beach." Good hiking trails, with great views if you decide to take the steeper trails. Blakish sand beach on the northern side of Redhill.

Beautiful. Big waves so watch the little ones, life guards we're out warning people, did a great job at educating everyone. The parking lot gets full quick but the beach is huge so it doesn't seem busy.

Always beautiful at Makena State Park aka Big Beach. Be careful of the water, as beautiful and blue it may be, the shore breaks can be deadly. Aka break neck beach. If there's a big swell just stay out of the water or go to a different beach more calm. Listen to the lifeguards, they're there to protect you 🤙🏽

One of the most beautiful beaches in Maui! However! The surf here can be dangerous! So exercise caution and don't go in the water if the waves are crashing hard!

Beautiful beach! The day I visited the lifeguards announced that the rip tide and undertow made it unsafe for swimming. Otherwise I would have rated it much higher.

It was such a beautiful drive, and the beach was just perfection! There are a few street vendors on the road to the state beach, which was a perfect snack after the beach! Wish they had outdoor showers, though.

The south end of this smallish beach filled steadily with resort guests but the north end was lightly populated on a Saturday morning. The best snorkeling though is on the south end, not right along the rocks, but further out above the coral. The visibility was decent and while there weren't great numbers, there was a wide variety of fish. There is a fair amount of shade available all morning, and there was a nice breeze while we were there. The waves picked up several times but then always calmed down again. Unless you're just one person, plan to drop a person and gear at the drive-through for the beach park, then park back up the road across from the church, where there's nice shade, bathrooms and sand showers.

We spent 2 days hanging out on this beach. The first day of snorkeling was really good. The coral reef was beautiful, and we saw a fair amount of fish. The second day was pretty much a bust since the waves were big, which caused the water visibility to be poor. I definitely would return and hope for calm waters.

This beach is beautiful with a nice big shaded corner under a tree, perfect for a baby. It was less crowded than other beaches we've been to in west Maui and had a more secluded feel. There's also a little grassy area above the beach from which you got a great view of the Molokini Crater. Also, we've read there's good snorkeling here albeit it was a little murky when we went due to the waves. We would definitely go back here!

Great beach! Can be a little crowded at times. Great for snorkeling. Good chance of seeing turtles in the water. It's beautiful here. Parking can be a little hectic but didn't seem too terrible compared to other places on the island.

The beach is easily assemble from the parking area. The beach is clean and best of all I snorkel with two sea turtles.

I'll make this quick and simple as we all gotta show off that beach body asap. Parking is limited but shouldn't be much of a problem. Just park on the side of the street. ✅ Good for swimming ✅ Snorkeling is doable. You'll find fishes for sure, but you'd have to go maybe 100ft from the shore. If you go further, you might get lucky and see more fishes. 👍 Peaceful and calm ✅ And yes, there's a spot for rinsing ✅ Mahalo! 🤙

This is a slice of heaven worth the effort to visit and experience. Sun, white sand, warm water. The snorkeling is first class. The water can be a bit rougher than some other beaches if the wind is up. All in all, one of the best beaches in Maui!

Nice small beach, good facilities, wasn’t crowded, likely due to the pounding surf that day. So couldn’t snorkel to see turtles but enjoyed watching the waves coming in and playing in the surf. A great food truck parked less than 5 min away allowed us to enjoy a nice lunch. One of our favorites beaches out of the many we enjoyed during our 9 day stay on the island. Parking could be tight on a busier day but was wide open for us that day. Highly recommend.

Not a very long beach but has outdoor shower to rinse off sand and salt. Sand is very soft and fine.

Gorgeous beach just off Makena Road, it's best to arrive in the morning. There are 6 parking spots right in front of the beach, otherwise, you need to park in front of the Maui Prince hotel at the southern end of the beach. The northern end of the beach is wild and rocky, perfect for great fishing and snorkeling. When swimming, there's a high chance of encountering turtles, as there are plenty of them here - that's why this beach is often referred to as Turtle Town.

A seclude beach at the very end of public road south of Makena Landing beach. There is a very few parking spots as the beach is next to private residence and hotel, condo. However, there is public parking from the Southside - Maluaka Beach South Access, then walk to the beach. The beach, mostly for nearby residents with very few beach goers.

This place is gorgeous and definitely is a must-see beach if you plan to surf or see sea turtles. Parking is tricky.

Nice beach, has washrooms, rinse off stations and parking. Walked the whole thing barefoot, not much debris, mostly sand. Very clean and well maintained

Good body board beach. Be careful of rocks though. Stay closer to the North side of the beach in-between trees up top to avoid them. Waves break closer to the shore so always be prepared to go under them or you will get pummeled by them.

Absolute gem. Small and quaint and hidden. Take a short walk to find lots of tree shade for those who don’t want to stay on the sand or dip in the water. Child friendly. Best part for me: cleanest public beach restroom ever! 2 stalls, one private changing stall. One shower available as well. Great place to have a picnic. Picnic tables available. Easy to park (free public parking, though limited space) and short walk to beach. Bathroom and foot washing available. The slow water rise and fall on the beach looked great for skim boarding.

Polo beach is resorty, but a nice little beach, soft sand, nice easy surf, good parking and public facilities, easy access. If you want seclusion this is not it, but great for folks with kids or an easy beach morning south of Kihei. Go early for clear water and snorkeling.

Nice sand beach in Wailea area next to several hotels, and condos. There is a large parking spaces with a paved concrete walkway from the parking lot and connected to a beach walkway runs along the seashore. The beach walkway is pretty long starting around Polo Beach runs North to Mokapu Beach and snakes along sides of hotels, condos.

This tucked away beach was fairly crowded, but there was plenty of space for everyone. We weren't able to snorkel as intended due to the water conditions, but the sand was wonderful and we saw several whales surface in the distance.

What a wonderful beach, it isn't as large as other beaches, there is nice white sands, medium waves, black rocks jetting out, palm trees are all around. There are public washrooms, a couple of picnic tables, a wash area to shower off afterward. Great place to have photos done too ;)

We went 2 different days and the waves day 1 were great for 10 and 12 year old to boogie board. Last day we went waves were much bigger but so much fun. Clean bathrooms and showers.

This beach is small but a lot of fun. Beach has the perfect size of waves for the family. They have bathrooms and a showers. I only saw one picnic table next to the showers. Look for the sign beach access and they have free parking. Have fun peeps.

Remember Polo beach! It is between polo club resort and fairmont resort. There are restroom, shower, and plenty of parking. But it is not well know. Small sand beach but luxurious look and beautiful. Highly recommend!

This was a nice beach with super soft sand. The water is really pretty too. It is a nice beach and it probably would've had good snorkeling but we didn't try because it had really big waves. There were some rocks and there were some people diving over by them and that's where you want to snorkel if the waves calm down. Warning: the waves were really big. They were knocking down a lot of people (even some adults), so I wouldn't recommend this for little kids. The water was pretty shallow though so if the waves are calm it would be good for swimming. There is a rinsing station and bathroom at the top of the stairs. You will probably see it on your way down. It can be hard to find parking so you want to go as early as possible to make sure you get a spot. The explanation to my 4 stars is that the waves were just too big.

Great place to snorkel and see the amazing sea life. We saw so many turtles. Such a neat experience! We got a tour guide Joe, he was so helpful and did a great job on capturing every moment!

Excellent scuba diving along the reef and rock walls, saw my first shark in a cave. 11/10 and would snorkel or dive here again. A little swell but lots of fish, moray eels, and more

This is a beautiful little spot. The grass is nice and green, the water is calm and perfect for snorkeling. The parking is a little bit small but there are a few spots surrounding the area u can park legally. I like that this spot had a shower to rinse off after enjoying the water. The views are spectacular and this is a must stop by. Respect the land, especially the turtles. Don't touch em.

A nice little secluded beach in the Wailea area. Went here as it is a very popular spot for snorkeling, there are some turtles and fish, but you have to go further from the beach. Honestly, I think there are better spots for snorkeling activities in Maui. There is a decent amount of parking, you can also park along the road and walk to the beach. There are restrooms and showers. The down side to this location was the amount of other people here. A lot of locals like to have a picnic and drinks here on the weekends.

Makena Landing is beautiful. It has a nice walk in beach with hilltop grass spots to sit and enjoy the day. Snorkeling and scuba diving is amazing. There’s so much sea life to see.

Snorkled the area setting turtles, colorful fish, spectacular corals and great sea urchins! Rocky beach mostly, some sand. Lava rock, both smooth and jagged all over, but a really nice place. Get there early for the beaches to yourself.

Great snorkeling spot for turtles. There's not a ton of fish, but it's still very nice. I'd go there again. The grassy area near the beach is perfect for a picnic. Showers and a restroom make it even better.

Bring some good shoes, you be walking on lava rocks for most of walk. It's beautiful. Saw some Billy goats today. Couple Porto potties in the parking area. Free parking.

Worth it. Family life memory. Calypso was the largest boat docked with the best amenities that we saw. I’d recommend that one for a group trip. There’s no way to describe what we saw. This was our first time snorkeling. Seeing fish swim under us and close enough to touch in clear water was surreal. Doing it with my 10 & 7 year old was a life memory I’ll cherish forever.

This is a great little park toward the end of Wailea, plenty of parking, a very nice area to hang out at the beach and snorkel. You can typically find some turtles here hanging out at the beach! Great place to hang out for a few hours!

Great beach .. a bit small and has limited parking .. but has a turtle rest area right next ti it so you can see turtles there all the time .. no lifeguard on this beach … and it gets deep very fast so not recommended for small kids or amature swimmers

At this time, there's road construction making it a little more difficult to get to. Public restrooms are nice to have. Small beach but a larger beach next to it and yet another beach about 0.4 miles further down from that one. Neat looking old church in between (can't see from the beaches)

Nice beach, lots of rocks and big waves. Have to go snorkeling, turtles, and fish in the water. Not usually that crowded.

I learned to dive here. I've been here about 4 times. There are a few commercial groups that come here. Usually groups of up to 4. The dive is nice, a few caves to check out. Turtles and sometimes sharks as well. Can be choppy with some surge. Clarity is about 40 to 50 feet usually. Outside showers available for rinsing. Bathrooms available. Pretty cool vibe. Oh yeah, the birds are little terrors.

So many paid tourist groups at this location and I can see why. Sea Turtles galore (on shore) can see while snorkling and scuba diving! Also seen An Eel (with fishing line around his neck) Octopus, white tip reef shark and Fish galore! Definitely bring a go pro with a water proof case! This place does not dissapoint. Limited parking so get there early!

Great beach access for an area of coral. We swam with sea turtles and small fish along the coral line. Good parking for the space. Overall great beach.

Beautiful beach but as one other reviewer put it, you must respect the waves. Be careful with children! My son and I stepped a few feet into the water when a large wave came and nearly swept him away had I not been holding his hand tight. I still have nightmares about it and this was several years ago. Please be careful.

Best beach on Maui to me. Beautiful from end to end and the waves are usually peaceful here. No lifeguard on duty so if in doubt don't go out! The Maui Cookie cookie cart is here on Sundays but check their Instagram page to be sure. There's a porta potty in the parking lot and at the far south end a shower but that's it. The far north end of the beach around the rocks is clothing optional so be warned and informed ⛱️🏖️🍑🍒😆😊

This is such a great beach and very very calm waters. We decided to do my mother in laws vow renewal photos here because of it's beautiful waters and sand. This is also such a nice place to just sit back and relax, I would love to come back one day.

Beautiful facility with 10 courts, excellent customer service, friendly knowledgeable employees, very helpful. Also, very nice selection of shoes, clothing, rackets and anything tennis related with decent prices. Full service pro shop. Memberships, clinics, lessons, ball machine, pickle ball court, round robin, even player matching!

This is a very nice tennis facility with numerous perfect courts in a lovely setting and protected from the wind. Everyone is very nice here and you are guaranteed to enjoy yourself while playing singles or doubles.

Amazing club! We came here for a doubles game, and needed to rent everything. All the rackets and equipment are top notch, and the tennis pro is super helpful and accommodating. We ended up buying the rackets we rented for a super good deal. I highly recommend Wailea Tennis Club!

This place has it all for the serious tennis player. Great instructors, large numbers of courses, match arranging and more!!! I loved coming here for my two and a half month long stay, and can't wait to go back next summer. The staff are amazing, personal, and very friendly and helpful. I go every other day, from 7 A.M. to 5 P.M. and never get tired of being around them. Patrick is very helpful and honest, Jill is energetic, Morgan is insightful and quite the character, Chan is dedicated and tennis smart, and Ricky is the man, and the one who had mentored me the most, and the one who I most attribute my recent improvement to. All around, this place is the absolute best for those who are willing to do what it takes to improve their game or have fun. 10 out of 10 would visit again.

The restaurant food and staff are SO GOOD! Though the menu is limited, they worked hard to meet our restrictive diet needs. Panko cauliflower was deeeeeelish. Server was a sweetheart and the drinks were delicious! Dragonfruit margarita was a little tart and tasty, pono watermelon sugar high and pono Maui sunset were both drool worthy. Cashew cheese was great. Plenty of good grinds even for vegan. Will be back!

Amazing courts and facilities. We booked training session which included cost for court (otherwise $25pp by itself). Our trainer, Collins, was fun and a good teacher. Highly recommended we need for intermediate level players

I love Wailea Tennis Club! We have been members here for several years and love playing here. The proshop has a wide variety of clothing, shoes, racquets and accessories. The restaurant on site is a great place to watch the sunset!

It's a nice beach but there are a decent number of large rocks in and around the beach and in the water. Not really the best water play beach, and there's also a TON of foot traffic. It must be a popular walking beach for residents because it's a non stop parade of people walking back and forth. Can also get windy here. But also at other times it can be deserted. Very pretty beach too with a great view towards West Maui. The south end is a great snorkel spot as it shares the rocky point with Ulua, one of the best snorkeling spots in South Maui.

Calm, clear water in the morning with some of the best snorkeling. Lots of fish and turtles. A short walk from the parking lot and shower facilities. Came at 8 am on a weekday with no one around. By 12 there were lots of swimmers but still pleasant. One of my favorite spots on the west side.

Lovely beach, in front of the Andaz Maui. Used by guests of the hotel and locals alike. Beautiful views of West Maui mountains and Lanai from the Beach. Amazing sunsets just about every night. Great snorkeling right off the beach, plenty of marine life.

This is a hit or miss spot, depending on visitors and weather. There are times we come down and there's no one. All the Andaz visitors are at the pool. Other times it can be packed. But, regardless, it's a beautiful beach with fun snorkeling in front.

Gorgeous, secluded beach but it has luxury private residences along it, so feels a bit like you're intruding on someone's personal beach. There is one empty lot between the other house lots that contains trees and a sandy path to access the beach. Make sure you wear shoes on the path, as it's riddled with thorns from the trees. We laid out on the area in front of this lot, as it didn't feel like we were laying out in someone's backyard. We didn't get a chance to snorkel because of rain, but it's supposed to be good around the rocks.

My favorite beach on Maui. I could have spent the entire day here, but we had other things planned. The water was perfect for snorkeling, as many people discovered. The sea turtles were swimming and we observed them surfacing. So magnificent! We really enjoyed exploring the rocks on either side of the beach, looking for coral, shells, shark teeth, and whatever other treasures we could find. Parking for this beach is a little tricky, but we got here early enough to nab a spot in the neighborhood. Truly, a stunning beach!

We had professional family photos taken here. Beautiful, quiet sandy beach. Lots of greenery surrounding it, and black lava rock at one end have lots of pic options.

Low score = over development Higher score = beautification of the beach (alone) Such, such fond memories. OG family friends from Oahu (dad went to college in California in the early 1950’s with a good friend who was born/raised in Oahu) who was co-investors in a charming, low key, Hawaiian designed compound bungalow from the 1970s. Granted any development on the water is STILL considered UNFAIR and UNJUST to the true founders of the Hawaiian Islands. It was told to us very early on that the lands across from this Palauea Bay Beach were Hawaiian burial grounds….with an understanding nothing would ever be developed. Fast forward 10 years - my stomach! What happened?!?! Who allowed this? It’s a gross, pretentious, who has the BIG $$$ to get a slice of what was so natural and undeveloped and land of the forefathers. The beach - still beautiful, blue and amazing. Deep breaths, wonderful experience (minus the mansions). The vibe (as I said), pretentious, crowded with massive homes. We witnessed one resident yell (from one of the phat homes) to a local who was docking his boat (due to high winds) to move his vessel….what is going on here? We had a nice revisit and re-grounding, but hurts my heart of what the rich are doing to the islands.

One of my favorite beaches, hidden away, seldom that crowded. Not much for utilities, just one port-a-potty, now showers. Street parking, no lot.

Very busy beach, but it's a great place to see turtles swimming in the ocean. We saw them from the beach both times we were at this location. There is ample parking along the road, and it is a short path to the beach. Our daughter was married on the beach at 9 a.m., and there were already quite a few people around. We were able to find a nice spot to the left when you walked in from the parking lot. We were far from any other people over by a rocky outcropping. It was beautiful. Get to the beach early if you want a nice spot. 😉
