It has been over 30 years since Mui Observatory, certified by the Ministry of the Environment as ``the observatory where you can see the most beautiful starry sky in Japan for stargazing'', was built.
I had always wanted to go there, and it finally happened.
The director said that the building is not new, but since it is a facility for observing the starry sky, I didn't really care about the exterior. Although the facilities inside the museum are not the latest, they are perfect for acclimating your eyes to observing the starry sky, the black lights are illuminated without any gaps, the stars floating in space on the walls are hand-painted by professional artists, and shine beautifully, and the cleaning is easy. It's been cleaned.
I was humbled to see that the surrounding area was being taken care of, including mowing the grass and cutting down trees.
The stairs were narrow, but there were handrails so I felt safe.
If anything, even if you put ivy with small autumn leaves on the building like Pazu's house in Hayao Miyazaki's film: Castle in the Sky, the atmosphere would be better😊
At our destination observatory, on a new moon night when the city lights were not obtrusive, the curator gave us a very detailed explanation of the Siberid meteor shower (2024.01.04.).
I was able to clearly see Jupiter's shape, color, and moons, which I had only seen in picture books, and Subaru (Pleiades star cluster) was also clearly visible.
I was moved by the story of the starry sky I was casually looking at.
After the observation explanation, we were able to enjoy our time on the observation platform adjacent to the observation platform. I’m glad I went! !
We urgently need to repair the Cassegrain reflector telescope as soon as possible so that it can be viewed with automatic settings! I wish!! ️
Thank you to the curator who manually adjusted the focus ✨✨✨
Next time, I plan to collect all the astronomical stickers while checking for cloudless days and closed days.
Why the name of the museum? Is it “Muey”? ? That's a nice pun...🤔...I've been wondering for a long time, but in the local dialect, "see" = "muyi"... ️!! ️
It comes from a familiar dialect❓❗️(O_O)❗️✨
I'm sorry that it's too late, but I have to take my hat off to the person who was selected for their good taste! ✨
It's very easy to remember and once you hear it, you won't forget it.
There is also a campground adjacent to the site, where you can stay overnight and go to the observatory. The campsite also seems to have Segways and electric carts. There also seems to be a snack bar and cafe with a wood stove where you can drink alcohol.
I would like to have a drink while looking at the stars✨✨.

[Outbound route from National Route 266] 2024.01.05.Entered]
⚫︎The road entering from Odo Port is the easiest and recommended.
The straight line distance from Daido Port to the summit of Mt. Kuradake is approximately 1.8 km.
Since you drive from 4.5 meters above sea level to near the top, which is about 470 meters above sea level, it's only natural that there should be some incline.
In fact, I'm just grateful that I can go there by car✨
The richness of nature that can be seen on both sides of the forest road is also fun ✨
There are no street lights, so you can easily see oncoming cars at night.
The local residents who live a little above the halfway point also volunteer to clean the road, which serves as a community road. 🤔✨
Mowing the grass during the rainy season or summer will leave you with no time to catch your breath.
Thank you for making it beautiful.
The grass and trees leading up to the observatory have been neatly mowed and trees have been cut down, and the road is all paved, with no potholes, cracks, or steps, so you can easily drive up to the observatory by regular car.
*If you see a stone on the side of the road, don't worry about it because it was accidentally stepped on by a wild boar.
*Foreign cars with a wide width or campers with a high height. ⚠️It is better to avoid using modified Shakotan cars.
You can also pass the road from the direction of Narukawa Kannon Falls (Shimonuki Port side) without any problems.
Although it wasn't in bad condition, the road looked a little narrow, probably due to the light traffic and leaves piled up on the side streets. It has a short span and a lot of curves.
There are several hairpin curves, and if you don't drive in a wide radius, long cars may end up scratching your belly. ←Several scratch marks are scattered.
・Gutters without lids are for protection against heavy rain. Don't lean too far to the left 😊
*There are many wild boars and raccoon dogs.
No...they can be found anywhere in Amakusa.
Sometimes you can meet owls🦉 and deer✨
Keeping in mind that we are intruding on the territory of wild animals, let's drive safely and quietly observe the beautiful starry sky ✨
