Looks like a great beach. The weather wasn't great on my visit so I can't comment on the sea temperature and the swimming capabilities but it was clean and tidy.

Beautiful beach! It isn't too overrun. The water was 20 degrees in June. So the swim was nice. A lot of people surf here as there is always wind. There aren't a lot of facilities around for toilets or changing, maybe one. I love this beach. 😀 it's nice and natural, no commercial shops on the beach trying to sell you things. It's just simple, and that's what makes it beautiful 😍

The beach is a five star. Clean, nice and shallow. Great for playing and swimming. Great sand. Great beach walk. Few good coffee places and even worse parking facilities and the ones that exists are really small and not up to date. Also no dogs allowed regardless the hours. Would be fair to allow dogs early in the mornings, say until 9:00. There are no one there that early anyways. Dogs allowed between October and April.

I heard that St. Lorenzo Beach in Gijon is the busiest beach in Asturias and I am guessing is on summer time. The beach is really long and beautiful with golden sand and high waves. You can see many people playing sand sports, specially surfing since early morning every day from all the surf schools along the boulevard. It is amazing and very relaxing!!

The Aquarium is always entertaining visit even if you have been there before. It is close to the beach, playgrounds, the free Train museum, not far from the city centre, many restaurants near and bus station. ...the shop of the aquarium is also a hit for the little ones. I bet even without the visit.

I love this place! It is located 5 minutes walking from the center of Gijón, or 2 minutes from the railway museum and parking. It is an aquarium where you can notice the love of the people who are working there. Everything is tidy and clean. The decoration hand made and beautiful. I had a small aquarium for 4 years so i can tell you that the animals were living in perfect conditions. I really enjoyed the information I received about the invasive species and their effects. It is not massive, but it is lovely, it is not an aquarium where you can walk inside a túnel or they do not have crocodiles or penguins or otters but they have tiger sharks and amazing turtles. But they have Axolotl that for me was a huge surprise. If you are in the area visit this place. It worths every cent. I can not wait to go again.

Interesting but neglected. There were many lights and buttons turned off or not working inside different buildings with exhibits. Some plant signs were illegible or still standing where a plant has long been dead, or positioned so far from the path that you can't read them. Lovely place to have a walk around, it's a natural kind of garden with each area themed. There's a fun dragon slide for kids too. Take a picnic and spend a day. We were also told that we could come back with our ticket the same day and it was open til 9pm. Very cheap to get in too, kids under 12 are free and we paid £5 for both of us, two adults. The maze is fun too.

Definitely worth the visit!! We had one day at Gijon and we're doubting if we should visit the gardens but it was a highlight of the day. If you like nature, go! It's quite big but going around feels like a natural amusement park. We enjoyed every step of it and the entrance was cheap for 2.90€. To enjoy it better bring some snacks (there are drinkable water fountains around) and spend a whole afternoon chill and have a picnic in the gardens. They close at 18.00 We spent about 3 hours and if we weren't hungry we would have stayed an hour more for sure.

Very interesting you wander through them various types of habitat and see what is grown there. Some very pretty flowers and views including of the university beside the gardens. Pity there are only drinks from machines rather than a good cafe.

A short trip out of Gijon We came here on a sunny day in March looking for a bit of spring. While there were precious few flowers, the range of plants and the great amount of information made the trip worthwhile. They have quite a variety of habitats, and with explanations in both Spanish and English I was able to increase my Spanish vocabulary quite rapidly :) The garden is a decent size, you can cover it in about 90 minutes if you don't stop much. If you like plants it is worth a trip. There is no cafe.

I've been living here for a while now, and it was surprisingly the first time that I've been able to make it! It's a cheap way to spend the day (we didn't even see anything and we were there for over two hours!) We brought lunch and ate at a picnic bench! There's also a cafe to grab some food or drinks as well. I was soo pleasently surprised to see how CLEAN and fully stocked all the bathrooms were. It was way bigger than I thought it would be, and it was beautiful!! There's only a couple reasons why I wouldn't give it 5 stars: 1) while there are ramps, I could imagine it being quite an effort to get around if you're in a wheelchair due to various steep inclines and very uneven ground 2) alot of things seemed super dry and dying. I understand that it's the summer, but if it's a botanical garden, you would think that the upkeep would be a little bit better. 3) a lot of their features are water features/fountains and flowing water. Every single water feature that we passed was turned off or empty. A little disappointing considering it could have made the experience more enjoyable! I was able to take many pictures, so I will upload a few of them now

In this hill we found some historical elements such as remains of a Roman wall, ancient military bunkers & sculptures, standing out Elogio del Horizonte, a reinforced concrete sculpture of 500 tons that was really impressive. If you stand in the center of the sculpture, you can hear the intensity of the sound of the waves and wind. It is a pleasant a peaceful walk!

I am not a fun of trains in general, but this museum is different. Has some magic. Once you get inside of one of the wagons you fill the past. Very magical. How it use to be. All the machinery, so heavy, so much have man work. If you are in Gijón this is must to see. Gentlemen in the cashier was very professional and funny. Very cheap, the entrance is 2.50. children for free. My favourite was wagon for workers in the 50ies. Even had the kitchen with stove...

Visited on Thursday, afternoon. No entry fee. Very quite. Around 10 minutes walk from city centre. Different types of locomotives exhibited, manufactured in different countries. These locomotives used to be in function in the Asturias region, throughout 19th and 20th century. Certain exhibits missing information in English language but the most important info on the types and purpose of locomotives exhibited have English language translation.

A must see for all. Quite a walk but if u are lucky, u find a car park near ....it speaks story.....emotional....no need to buy ticket....it's free as long as u can walk...

Nice views of the ocean and a sad, tragic looking statue of a woman which is kinda creepy. On the whole it's a nice walk or ride there from the centre, especially with a takeaway coffee and good company

For those that continue walking from here, be warned that there are no public toilets along the coastline and parks. It goes into a residential area. So if you need to, go back and pee before going on! You'll enjoy the scenery much more! 😅

Together with the amazing view over the ocean...just fantastic... what I missed was an explanation of why the statue was put there... the name itself (the mother of the emigrantes) gives away a bit of the history of course... but I always like to know more... As far as I could find its about the mothers who had to say goodbye to their Asturian children going to America looking for a better future after the second worldwar. (Please correct me if I'm wrong!!)

Absolutely must see Roman baths excavation. Very educational and not too difficult to maneuver with limited mobility. Close to other wonderful activities & sights.

Love the traditional buildings and the cider press was seriously impressive. Free to go in. Weirdly interesting building. National bagpipe collection is worth a look. Also some interesting basketry.

I thought the walking route along the coast from Gijon to Mirador would be difficult, but in fact it can be done without much effort. At the end, the climb to the hill where the viewpoint is located is a little difficult, but otherwise it is a great place for walking with friends, dating or organizing your thoughts. There were many tables and benches along the way, so there are places to take a break.

The hotel is in the best location of Gijón, The "Plaza Mayor", in the center of the city, near many interesting historic places. The building is old, but the facilities are very good, the service is kind and attentive and the overall quality is very, very good. The breakfast is small but better than most hotels, and definitively worth the small price they charge.

Its okay, its our local park, soft play, good variety. after 10am the park is always mobbed. ALWAYS. I personally don't enjoy it looking after my son who is 2 in the ravels of people, especially during this tough time of coronavirus. The restaurants has reasonable prices. No free parking in the area, you have to park your car in private charge parkings available in the area.

A broad pedestrian area and park about the size of a city block. The Jovellanos Theatre is located on the plaza and surrounded by small cafes and restaurants. A nice place to sit and relax for a while to people watch.

Not bad overall, the only desapointment is that there is only one toilet, and normally it's out of service. They stage area is most of the time crowed with teens and not so teens doing drugs, most of the time, easy to smell when you walk through, small children are running and playing in front of it and normally they run around this area. Not a pretty picture.
