Amazing, I loved this place. Although it is a bit expensive the aquarium, reptile zone and natural habitat were amazing but the science and space zones were very underwhelming. As aquariums go, this aquarium was good with different fish and a "aquarium tunnel", the reptile zone was good but small. The habitat was the best part of the universeum once you enter it you will be in this tropical environment with birds roaming around freely, and fish swimming in a pond like environment, from small piranhas to crocodiles and giant cat fish etc. As for the space and health/chemistry they were underwhelming at best, the space one was just facts on a wall and i think the space part is only for kids, as for the health part also mostly for kids but more interactive, adults can enjoy some aspects of this as for the different mental exercises and fun challenges. Overall I think it was an interesting place to spend 2-3 hours.

Very good museum. Several attractions for children. Lots of educational activities. Well served of clean toilets. Available space for those who have children and need space to eat a fast lunch. There are plenty of tables to eat. There is a restaurant in the second floor.

Really well laid out - the rainforest attraction winds all the way down the 5 accessible floors, with the outer areas to that serving homage and delight in various items such as space, underwater features and the Visilab which was the highlight of the entire museum. It’s crown jewel for me was a huge sphere that you could change to replicate any of the planets on our solar system and walk round them. Truly a unique take on visioning our planet and neighbouring ones, also very much loved the space Cinema with some really expansive shirt films. Great way to spend half a day. Rain forest was beautiful too, rope bridges and Spiral stair cases were a great touch.

Nice place to go with kids to explore many things. The dome show was nice the seat can be little bit adjustable for the full view. You can plan for whole full day. Try to plan before entering for the different shows.

One of the most beautiful museums i’ve seen. Unfortunately we haven’t had enough time to see everything but it is definitely recommended to spend 2-3 hours because it is huge and full of interactive things that you can do.

Be aware of time when arriving by car. Part of the area is in construction and you may find traffic or would need to find a parking spot. Try to book in advance. The museum is really worth it. Kids and adults enjoy it likewise. There is a restaurant with great food. A couple of picnic areas. The health exhibition seems not as updated as the rest of the museum.

I'd give this place fours stars just because when I visited the area focused on the scandinavian ecosystem was under renovation. This is a great science museum mostly for kids, although adults also can have a fun time here. The main part is probably the rain forest and my favorite animal was the sloth, so cute. In the aquarium you can fin lost of sharks. A great option to visit during winter.

We really only had time for the natural sciences. We were there for 3 hours, but could have spent another two. The expos have been carefully designed and look great

This place is an amazing experience for both adults and kids. It is a science museum packed with a rainforest indoor as well as an aquarium where you can learn a lot about the species here etc. allow around 2 hours to visit. I would recommend buying tickets online first as it is cheaper.

This is a must visit if you're in lovely city of Gothenburg. There is everything for all age group. While Rain forest welcomes you when you enter, largest fish aquarium is mesmerising. Every floor is either with science, knowledge, space with endless fun. Be prepared to daylong joy of fun and food.

You will not regret visiting this science center. The way all the different zones(Ocean, Reptile, Amazon reinforest, etc.;) they have arranged everything very beautifully. Educational zones like anatomy of human body, space zone are also the highlight of this science center. Also there are food stalls installed at different floors so don't have to worry about food and there is game area and sitting arrangements at different floors. The public transport to the place is also easily accessible and can be commuted by tram or bus

This is a spectacular place to visit with children. I enjoyed the visit and I assure kids would just love it. It is a museum where you will find facts about the human body, math, space and more and you can interact with some of the exhibition. It has a fantastic rain forest area where you can see some species of plants and animals.

A very interesting science museum/mini ZOO/Aquarium. But mostly for Swedes rather than tourists. The entrance fee for students is a bit higher, but there are plenty of animals and plants to look at. I especially appreciate the nice lights for taking pictures and the very clean glass, you rarely see that. Also interesting is the 3D cinema, which is on the top floor where you start the tour. Just a shame it's all in testimony again. Online tickets work out cheaper.

Quite big science and nature museum. 7 floors. We tried the Wisedom too. It’s quite fun to see the 3D movie in a dom. But it’s really long queue at the restaurant so we waited very long time to get food. Also the big forest area is very warm and humid. I feel hard to breathe there. It’s good visit for kids but there are a lot to improve too

The right place to spend half of the day or the day of you keep up with the energy. There are 6-7 floors with different type of environments to see. I liked the aquarium, the rain forest, the reptiles and the matrix the most. In that order. It’s well maintained with easy accessibility and a lot of information around. I highly recommend it! It’s perfect to visit with friends, family or by yourself. Price is ok.

Beautiful botanical garden! Free entry. I came last time in winter and there was nothing, but this time I come in August, the garden is filled with numerous, various and colorful flowers, herbs and trees. The entrance is closed to the tram station, or you can go from Sahlgrenska hospital by walking. Love this place (in summer)😝

Absolutely beautiful! A lot of different kinds of trees and plants and the garden was much bigger than I expected. Since the main path is closed, it’s not very accessible right now. For me that was fine! Enjoyed my walk 🥰

One of the best botanical gardens I must say. It's very vast and peaceful. Have hundreds of plant varieties from different countries. Also this place is hardly crowded at any season so one can have ample amount of time exploring the garden. Toilets are installed at the entrance gate which are easy t access.

I recently visited Gothenburg Botanical Garden during the second week of April, and its serene beauty blew me away. The entrance greeted me with various flowers, although some were still waiting to bloom. The well-designed layout and upcoming renovations to the greenhouse promised an even better experience in the future. There is a shop near the entrance to buy souvenirs, seeds, and plants. The free entry with an option to donate 30 SEK was a nice touch. The peaceful environment, well-maintained pathways, and lush greenery made for a delightful stroll. The attention to detail in the garden's design and maintenance was evident. I can't wait to witness the garden in full bloom during the peak season.

This is one of my favorite places in Gothenburg. I will for sure come back when it's summer time. They have different varieties of plants and flowers. You will be amazed how well maintained and well cared the plants are. You will enjoy reading the names of the plants and flowers and appreciate their beauty. It's such a big place so it's easy to spend whole day here. There's a trail that you can follow in the forest. We actually saw a red squirrel when we were here. It's very quite and such a relaxing place to take a short or long walk. They have a playground for your children as well. Such a perfect place for a Sunday picnic for the whole family. They also have a restaurant if you don't feel having a picnic here. You can also buy flowers and plants in the shop or they call it nursery. I actually bought different colors of tulips. This is one of the few places in Gothenburg that you shouldn't miss.

One of the gems of Göteborg. Rarely is this place overly crowded which makes it the perfect place to escape to. The gardens themselves are beautiful and the whole place has a relaxing and calm vibe. Tip: check out the viewing spot towards the back of the gardens. It's a little bit of a climb but it will give you phenomenal views over the west of the city. Tip #2: Combine your visit with a trip to Slottskogen across the road. Especially if you have kids, as you can take them to the petting zoo and playground. Making this double combo a very cheap but memorable day out.

Perfect stay for family, singles, seniors, etc. When you come through the gate you find the toilets on the right side and the information and shop on the left. In the shop you can buy ice cream (this is a first stop for parents with kids). The garden ist full with lovely flowers and interesting and rare trees, like the japanese cake tree. You can take your time and take the best walk of your life there. The air smells unbelievably good - even my kids were surprised. There are a lot of areas to rest and eat. A small restaurant is also in the garden (there are toilets too).

The place is wonderful and huge. It requires time to discover all the beautiful places in a day. Its a good place to take a long walk, yoga and for picnic. I was really amazed by the nature and atmosphere there.

This place is celebrating its 100 anniversary this year (2023). It is building new greenhouses, so not all of the garden is fully accessible and maintained. It has lovely walks around the grounds, a cafe and a shop. It has free access but a voluntary donation can be made.

Lovely little restaurant here in the botanical guarden. A bit pricey though, so keep that in mind. However, you are of course paying for more than just the food. It is a lovely experience to be able to sit outside in such an environment. Furthermore, the food was also very tasty with generous portions. Lovely staff as well!

Very nice garden and green house. It’s been a treat to have a short visit during this winter time when the weather’s cold raining and not being bright for long time. Good to see so many green colours. The playground is wonderful for kids too. We enjoyed the visit.

Scenic park in the center of Göteborg. A great place to stroll around and have a picnic or just rest. Hides a very nice, but rather small playground . The Rose Garden is well worth a visit, as is the Palm House. A real green gem.

Recently been to Aarhus botanical garden (also free) and it doesn't compare. You don't have indicators at Palmhuset, some explanations just in swedish. All the place seemed crowded. A lot of closed buildings in the park..no functional toilet (out of season).. so what ? Good for a walk if you have more time but not on the list of priorities.

Great place to picnic specially if you don’t have the luxury of time to travel far from the city. It’s in the heart of Göteborg. The place was busy when we went there because of preparations for a concert the next day but still a good place to have your afternoon summer walk. The playground was a hit to the kids.

Good place to visit from the train station. See the free palm house in the green house. Great signs of Allah to make a person think. Alhamdulilah. Only 4 minutes from the train station. This was one of the most amazing experience I had. Whole park it’s turned into a big play round, walking zone, open zoo, place for resting chatting and eating. A must see is moose and in the park there are a lot of wild deers.

A very beautiful park with a zoo. You can go for walking, running or go for a stroll in the midst of nature. You can see Moose 🫎, Snake Geese 🦆, Fallow Deer 🦌 and many more animals in the zoo. It also has many cafes inside. There is also a pony ride for kids but do check the timings before visiting.

A great place to visit for a day out as a solo traveller as I was, or for groups of friends or families. There is something for everyone here. The park is very big, so plenty of things to see and walks to be done. I was aware there were animals at the park but was pleasantly surprised to find seals, penguins, (you can get super close to these) also moose and other general farm animals. There are wide open areas for picnics, volleyball courts and cafes dotted around to stop for food and drinks. The landscape is a mix of planned nature and natural nature and is a lovely place to see.

Slottskogen is a wonderful, free, public park located along Dag Hammarskjöldsleden traffic route in Gothenburg. It’s an enormous park, and it’s easy to spend hours here. We visited during early November and the park looked really lovely in autumnal colours particularly on crisp, chilly days. There are a lot of trails and opportunities to see different animals, from seals to penguins. I’d strongly recommend a visit to this beautiful park in Gothenburg!

This park is really worth a visit, especially “Älghägnet” where you can see lots of animals that look well cared for. Everything was clean and organized, it was good for walking and exercising, but it is also surrounded by good works of local architecture. The park also looks great to enjoy a sunny day with friends at a picnic or playing some sport. I went as a tourist and I think it's a must see.

This park is a must see if you are visiting Gothenburg. There are plenty of great hiking and cycling trails throughout plus the observatory, zoo, viewpoints, cafe, and playgrounds. Truly something for everyone.

The museum is located so far away from the city centre and it’s pretty small. All the Volvo cars are very shiny but it’s not worth 160kr as entry ticket. There’s no any interaction with visitors whatsoever. It doesn’t feel like a high tech car company with so long history and so much investment in technology. It’s no wonder why there will be a new museum opening next year. Can only hope for that new one for now.

Had a ton of fun here, got to see volvos development throughout the ages and it cool, interesting and weirdly designed concept cars, was surprised that Volvo made an engine for a fighter jet, close to the end of the museum you will get to enter some of the cars and busses. Would recommend to stop by the museum for 30 min - 1 hour and view their cool cars!

I'm not a big Volvo (or car) fan, but it's a nice museum. The old Volvo's are really cool and you can see how the car evolves over the years, from 1920 until now. There are information signs everywhere in Swedish and English and there are also some movies that give more information about the history of Volvo. Reasonably priced and good for a rainy day. For a real Volvo lover it seems like a must see!

We received free admission as part of the Volvo Overseas Delivery program (the museum is a quick 5-10 minute drive from the new brand experience center!) Worth the visit as a car/history enthusiast. I’ve only ever known the modern era of Volvo and it was cool diving into the history and all of the brands that Volvo owns! The gift shop is also wonderful and has many Volvo-branded items that are difficult or impossible to find in the US.

I love Volvo! I planned a trip just to see this museum and had planned on doing a factory tour (be aware they close over summer for holidays and you won't be able to go). None the less the museum is wonderful and full of the history of Volvo, just amazing. Do yourself a favour and get down to this amazing museum!

Very good museum. There are samples of several cars of all ages of Volvo, engines, trucks and other vehicles. Many concept cars and different designs. There is a very interesting sample of the famous SAAB Vigen in exposition.

Although the Volvo brand has not belonged to the Swedes for many years, you can still feel a breath of history and the spirit of the founders here. You don't have to be a fan of the brand or a fan of motorization to visit this place. And it guarantees that the time spent will be well used. We will learn, among other things, how the idea of ​​​​creating a car brand came about and how huge was its contribution to the innovation of the automotive industry in later years. On site you will also find a very well-equipped souvenir shop and cafes. Being in the vicinity of Göteborg, I definitely recommend to find a longer moment and look here.

It’s a good place for kids but mostly for the nerds like me. You can see all generation of Volvo cars also some concept cars. It’s located in the outskirts of Gothenburg central so plan the trip ahead. Check Västtrafik as well as google map. Google maps may show you wrong path to the museum. FYI for the travelers, you don’t need to buy 1 day or 3 day pass because of the Volvo museum. I didn’t use my 3 day pass much since everything is in walking distance except this Volvo museum.

Thank you. Arriving at 09h55 for the 11h00 opening we left at 16h20 after the 16h00 closing. Another two hours - another full day - would have been not enough. There is so much to see and so much to learn. Everything is clearly laid out and beautifully explained. Of particular interest were the historical context details of current affairs as we proceeded from the mid 1920s to the present day. We have had the most wonderful day. P.S. The very best car I have ever owned was a 1967 Volvo 121 Estate with its utterly dependable B18 engine. Registration: GPV 836E It had soul.

Found by sheer luck when our cruise ship docked right next to it in Gothenburg,Sweden. Have to say, it's one if the best car museums I have ever visited. An amazing collection if vehicles, many that I had never seen before. Info boards are in Swedish and English so it's possible to read up on every single vehicle. Fair to say my wife is not the biggest car fan but she thoroughly enjoyed all of the history and culture on show. My personal favourite is the Volvo Amazon but there also have numerous concept vehicles which are one offs that never made it into production. IMHO. a couple of them should have. Not sure about local parking as we were 75 metres from our ship. There is a cafe on site, toilets and a decent gift shop.

A great collection of historic Volvo cars, trucks and everything they have ever produced. The museum is modern and does a nice job showing the progression of their history. I highly recommend a visit!

Nice museum. Would visit it again. Not only the cars, but also the trucks are exhibited. Regretfully not the latest cars are in the museum. They stopped at the beginning of the 2000s. But a vast amount of the older models can be experienced.

This was a nice place for a couple of hours... it was nice to go down memory lane and see the history of Volvo, and all their products displayed. There's a cute cafe at the location. Overall a nice morning spent learning about an iconic brand.

Beautiful museum, but really hard to get to. In the weekends the public transportation does not run according to schedule.. you need to call to some telephone one hour before you will need it.. Sad that google maps has no info about it and the bus sign only has it in small leterrs in swedish :( So we froze (with two small children) and waited for the bus, which never came :( In the end we took a taxi. I really reccomend the Volvo museum, this was our main destination and we enjoyed it! :)

Interesting museum with very awesome masterpiece from Picasso, Rembrandt, Chagall, van Gogh and many others but also great overview of Swedish and Norwegian artist works. Classics with some contemporary twists. And it's free of charge.

Good museum! Lots of the usual European big names. We particularly liked the Swedish art and contemporary sculpture collection. There are lockers to store your bags and coats. There is also a nice cafe with sandwiches, snacks and coffee. Great option for a rainy day :)

Really cool museum, with pieces that would suit any interest and expertise level. I'm not really a museum person or very knowledgeable about art, but I enjoyed every room I went through. Well worth the price of admission, and the museum pass is especially excellent value for money.

The whole approach to the museum is wonderful. The library, art decco theater. Then you are greeted by the huge, magnificent fountain with the backdrop of the the grand museum. The staff were lovely and took time to chat to us even though people were waiting. The Duane Michals exhibition was showing. Excellent exhibition of iconic photos of iconics people. Well worth seeing. The next exhibition was a collection art films. Well worth raking the time to absorb each one. Profound and thought provoking especially "the gospels". Then you are into the museums main collection. Eclectic mix of fine art. Loads of Swedish art and beautiful collection of great artists (Monet, Picasso, Renior, Van Gogh) The journey through is well done. We'll worth 6 euro. For 12 euro you can get a museum card admitting you into all Gothenburgs museums for 12 months. Great deal. Great gift shop.

Please visit this dream of an art Museum! The museum has 5 floors and is easy to walk. Their is a lift too. The backpacks can be stored away in lockers. The museum has a wonderful collection from everything. I saw Rubens, Chagall, Klimt, Money, Munch and a lot of nordic artists. (And so many more!) The installations were so interesting and a well prepared mix to look at for the visitor. There is a restaurant, toilets and a museumshop in the building too.

Absolutely a must see in Gotheborg. Great collection of paintings from most famous names such us Picasso, Monet and Munch to swedish and Finnish artists too.

The Gothenburg Museum of Art offers such diversity. I absolutely loved it. The museum has 6 floors and it can keep you busy for hours. Young adults and students have a free entrance, adults pay roughly 6 euros.

Loved the combination of modern art and diverse eras and styles of art displayed. Beautiful section in the museum with a focus on the artists in Sweden which was breathtaking! Easy to reach via public transport and conveniently positioned behind the statue of Poseidon. A lovely gift shop at the entrance with some interesting souvenirs and amazing book collection for art enthusiasts :) ticket is very affordable and easy to get at the museum. Preferably always use credit/debit cards as most place may not accept cash. Cool art installations and sculpture pieces!

An amazing destination. Gallery that narrates the evolution of arts in from several centuries ago, motivations of the artists, lines of thinking, values. Gift shop has some very heart warming books to buy for that little friend you left at home. Highly recommend it

Great collection over six floors! As many museums here they also struggle with naming the Netherlands correctly: Dutch, Holland etc.

Amazing collection a must visit when you are in Gothenburg. Please take your time to see the masterpieces from various Scandinavian artists and others including Picasso, Van Gogh, Monet, Rembrandt and Gauguin. You could spend your whole day here and its very reasonable at just 65 SEK.

I am quite astonished by the quality of the art pieces in this museum. It is absolutely not the best or the biggest of its kind, but I think the people in charge has done a wonderful job to gather and preserve these masterpieces.

Very nice place to enjoy artworks and paintings by many maestros, learning more about Scandinavian painters, very impressive. And got chance to see the paintings by Edvard Munch as well. Lucky me!

A very interesting museum of art covering modern as well as older contemporary art. Well worth a visit. Allow around 90 minutes.

We were so blown away by this museum, we went back a 2nd time! The museum holds the world's finest collection of late 19th century Nordic art. A highlight is the lavishly decorated Fürstenberg Gallery, named after leading Gothenburg art donors, Göthilda & Pontus Fürstenberg. Among the artists showcased are Carl Larsson, Edvard Munch and Per Hasselberg. The museum also houses older and contemporary art, both Nordic and international. The collection includes, for example, Monet, Picasso, Manet, Pissarro Rembrandt and Van Gogh. We particularly loved the sculpture gallery with it's giant spinning pole dancer and green backlit statues at the other end of the gallery. Worth several visits.

It was free for students. Quite big as well, Irecommend at least an hour to visit. There is a table tennis in the second floor, never seen such thing before. For my humble opinion it is better than its counteroqrt in stockholm. Worth to visit

A great place for a history lesson or 500 of them. So much history and knowledge. There's something for everyone. It is mainly for Swedish Air Force, but it is also navy. And planes and helicopters from all over. Counter espionage and the Cold war era. There's a cafe where you can get some cold or hot meals. "Burgers" Kids can play inside fighter jets and helicopters. But do notice that it is underground like 30-50m under. Soo if you don't like confined spaces maybe this is not for you. It is open and a lot of space down under. But i still got that panic feeling. But in all fairness it was worth it.

Did not have any expectation before visit. But, overall enjoyed. Good pricing. Easily accessible by public transport.

This is one of the best places we visited in Sweden. ✈️ The Aeroseum is an amazing underground hangar, previous airbase in the middle of a field out of nowhere. If you enjoy fighter aircraft, making the decision to come here is a great one. Be prepared to allow at least half a day to stay. After almost an hour by bus to get here we confusingly walked down the path to meet 2 c-130 bodies and then a little stall where you can buy tickets. Beyond that is the hill that the hangar is H I D I N G in. if you are interested, you can fly a JA37 flight simulator, a piper simulator and if you are lucky and the instructor is there, an A310 simulator, please contact before visiting to check out the simulator options. There is a small cafeteria inside. There is a small airport nearby: Säve airport. The airport has helicopters which from the outside you can view from atop the hill. If you are into food and fashion, but not planes this is a no-go.

Aeroseum is a place where any age group can go watch and learn about different types of Fighter jet’s their history how they operate, Guides are brilliant and huge Respect to all the Soldiers/ Pilots/ Army you all are really the role models to each one of us as each and every aircraft that was in the aeroseum have it’s pride, honour and fighting spirit they are not just aircraft’s they are Beasts. It’s a different experience altogether. You gain good knowledge and learn lot of new things for sure, a must visit place for the people around Gothenburg, Sweden👍🏻

It was a really cool experience. We didn’t know what to expect but it was certainly not this. There was such a big range of helicopters, jets and you could even fly in a simulator if you wanted. (Tip buy the tickets for the simulator in advance cause there is a big change that all the time slots are taken).

It's a really interesting place to visit, take your kids if they are behaved. Don't forget to spend sometime looking on the outside stuff as well!

Good place to visit if someone likes old jets and helicopters used by Swedish forces. It's an old hanger converted to a museum. The small section about spies is interesting. There is a small cafe inside where you buy fika and sandwiches at a reasonable price.

One of the must visit place in Gothenburg is Aeroseum. Watching a fighter jet closely was my dream and to sit on it is even more pleasure. This place has loads of Jets, helicopter and gliders.Also they have simulators where you can actually fly the planes. My kids had blast and the don’t want to come out. It is located under a bunker so you get really a feeling of a defence personnel. Don’t worry if you are tired of your there is cafeteria and don’t forget to try Cinamon Bun it’s delicious. The place is bit remote so travelling is hassle you need to have a car or Taxi. There is a bus but in winter cold and snow avoid bus as it’s freezing.

As a tourist from India, the Aeroseum is a must see place at Sweden. There weren’t much tourists on the weekday I visited . A stunning museum under the rocks! A surprise to me. The security was friendly and share the story of how they dig the cave during ww2 and how they changed to museum. A fantabulous experience. Though I missed simulator due to lack of time. The cafeteria was good too with some souvenirs to buy!

A surprising gem. A lot of cool cold war history as well as included or low cost hands on opportunities to interact with the exhibits. On the down side, many of exhibits are pretty beat up and missing significant parts of the aircraft. It's not the home of brilliantly restored aircraft so temper expectations.

A fantastic museum! where you not only get educated, but many things can actually be touched and tried (both kids and adults). Don't forget to try the simulators. We only had two hours there, but we could have used much more time.

I searched for an interesting thing to do for the birthday of my son while travelling from Copenhagen to Oslo. We didn’t have high expectations and went in with little to no knowledge on what there was to see in the Aeroseum. We were very pleasantly surprised about the size of the collection, the variety and the depth of the information given. Even the location and its history was very interesting. There was a perfect balance between you-can-touch-this and you-can’t-touch-that, so people of all ages can enjoy this exhibition. And let’s be honest, who has never dreamed of sitting in a jet? It was great to roam around the place and get surprised with yet more interesting things at every turn. Not only are there aerospace-related items to see, but there is a whole hall dedicated to games and toys. And you can even make model planes, if you’re up for it. Even the bathrooms are worth a visit, since going there will make you pass through a hallway where there are other rooms to visit. And last but not least, the price for visiting is extremely reasonable. Apparently there is a section reserved for tickets that were bought in advance, so we recommend doing that. We wish we could have spent more time here, because we were nowhere near done seeing everything there is to see. All in all, we highly recommend visiting the Aeroseum!

Interesting collection of swedish military aircraft of the last 70 years and their history. It is even possible to sit in the cockpit of some of the shown aircraft.

Great aircraft and helicopter collection placed in a bunker. All examples of Swedish fighter aircraft from late forties up to modern times (Gripen 2nd prototype). Flight sim set up you can use for 150kr extra with partially functional cockpit is also a great thing to experience!

The battleship was great to explore. I booked online, which was cheaper than on site. A lot of information is presented on the ship and you can go basically everything. It can be a bit slippery, especially when climbing down the ladders. I bumped my elbow more than once climbing down. Regretfully the submarine was not open for visitation. I would have loved to visit this one, too.

Very fun, navigating the submarine be boats is a fun but time consuming experience, 100% recommend visiting if you are ok with climbing ladders

Interesting place, although I think the admission is a bit expensive for what it's worth. I really wanted to visit the inside of the submarine, but that's not possible. It's a bit of a rust bucket. The destroyer was nice, the lighthouse ship is under repair and cannot be visited.

Very nice military marines and very educational. Good for bigger kids. So many floors from the ship. It’s not working with a stroller so we had to carry the small kid all the time so it’s taking too much effort

Beautiful ships. Not every description has English version but the overall experience is still great. This place is the highlight of my trip to this whole city. If you like ships/ military/ mechanical stuff you can easily spend 3 to 4 hours here

It was one of my favourite things to see in Göteborg for sure! Especially the destroyer is impressive to walk through. As it's quite big that will already take a while. Unfortunately, when I was there, I couldn't visit two of the boats. You also can't go into the submarine. But all in all I would def recommend going there :)

On the website they mentione around 12 vessels. One was out of order. You can only entry the big destroyer, fire boat and one other small ship. Unfortunately, you can't access the submarine. Destroyed is well preserved inside with a lot of descriptions of areas in English and Swedish languages. You can access from to bottom of the ship.

Climbing aboard the ships was a really cool experience and gave unique insights into life aboard a warship. The entrance was hard to find and not well marked (we had to go inside the restaurant to buy a ticket) and 2 of the ships were closed off. The ships are also not well maintained with lots of chipping paint and rust so please be careful.

Nice way to spend an hour or so, especially if you’re into naval history. We got there within an hour hour of closing time and it was half price which was a bonus!

Nice museum. Could perhaps be better taken care of. Feels as if it has been the same for decades. A lot of climbing and interesting areas one could access, like the engine room. Interesting to see how much people that was involved in pure navigation before the times of GPS and other modern equipment.

We found the entrance a bit confusing and had to ask how to get in. The entrance is through a boat with a cafe serving hot and cold drinks and cakes and snacks. Staff recommend lift vest for our children. The boats was brilliant for the children to explore and look around. There was some activities for children to do too. The boats was very well maintained and information was in english. Staff was helpful and friendly. This was the highlight of the trip to gothenburg for my youngest son. Max has given 2 thumbs up!

It's a good place to visit over weekends. Not too crowded except the kids play area. You could easily spend 2-3 hours here. If you are planning to visit other museums in Gothenburg then you should also consider getting the membership card.

Really expansive museum with a broad number of things to discover more about. Easy 5 stars, as the entrance fee is minimal, for adults its roughly 6,5€ and for students its free admission. Payable with Credit card. Whole museum can be covered in 2 hours if you rush a bit on certain sections, but 3-4 hours would be recommended. Museum was pretty empty on the weekdays, so if possible and you want to avoid the crowds, plan your visit for the weekdays.

If you are interested in history and visits Gothenburg this is the place to go. Once you start the tour you will embark on a trip that takes you from the stone age to modern day clothing fashion. Most of it spans from the viking age to medieval times when Gothenburg finally appeared (and survived) on the map. You can see a lot of illustrations, objects and histories at the same time that you walk next to an actual viking ship. There is also quite a few weapons like swords, spears etc., but also quite some tools and jewellery. You can also take part in the mystery of the silverheart found in the city of Nya Lödöse, Gothenburgs forerunner - but you will get to know more about that when visiting.

Situated in a pretty part of the city and reasonably priced to enter, the Gothenburg city museum is a must-visit if every in Gothenburg. The museum succeeds at exhibiting several millennia of the city and the surrounding area's history, ranging from natural history, the Viking times, middle ages and to modern times. They have really friendly members of staff working at the museum too. Definitely worth spending a few hours here while in Gothenburg!

Really enjoyed seeing the mechanical calculator and the basement display had a magic to it. Of course the Viking ship was great to see, and surrounded by artifacts and quotes from the sagas. An exceptional viewing spot with lots of great vistas to discover. You can also interact with historical cannons or make a picnic. This is a great spot for viewing the city but also to appreciate the great fort of Kronan. Its walls are exceptionally thick and made of nicely coloured stones. It’s a great piece of defensive architecture, very voluminous, frozen still in time.

Beautiful monument, it’s bit on height of the town. One can enjoy great view of town. The hike is not difficult. Must visit if you are in town. Seeing evening setting sun can be an experience.

Tough climb, but well worth it for the aerial views of Göteborg. Please note you can use the straight up stairs or a windy road on the other side to get up and down. Can get crazy windy though at times (check out the videos). I recommend doing both a day and night trip.

Skansen Kronan it’s an old fort dating back to the late 16 century, it’s located on the old town Haga district, it’s constructed to protect Gothenburg city from the Denmark attack during the 30 years Europe north war. It’s nice place with high view of Gothenburg, it’s let you see Gothenburg with eagle eye.

They have a great Christmas dinner/lunch, really good food and service, can definitely recommend. It's also a nice area outside, great for taking cityscape photos or just picnicking.

The views from Skansen Kronan in Gothenburg (which is free to visit) are very good and worth the uphill walk, granting visitors plenty of opportunities for panoramic photos of the city. The fortress itself is lovely with a lot of history behind it. The information panes are well-maintained with legible, printed writing in English and in Swedish. Skansen Kronan is worth visiting if you’re ever in Gothenburg, but as others pointed out, it can get quite windy up in the hill.

The way to top was a steep uphill walk but when taken at a leisurely pace its enjoyable. There are benches at frequent intervals where one can stop and catch breath. The view from the top is spectacular. There is a restaurant and a cafe. The restaurant had amazing view seats. Cage by RedHouse majorly serves Waffles and drinks(no beer though). However this is the best place to sit, read a book and relax in the sun with chairs, green grass and some hammocks spread around.

Very nice place with a great view of the city. Depending on which side you come from, you have to climb a relatively steep path. way or up many stairs. But once you reach the top, you are rewarded with a 360-degree view.

I am new to Gothenburg, and Sweden as a whole. What brought me to Nordstan was a simple wall plug 🔌 adapter. I had looked for it across several ICA's to no avail, until someone mentioned Nordstan. I am glad I went here. Everything is under one roof. I not only got my world to EU plug, but also did some grocery shopping at Lidl as well. I experienced some language barrier at several stores with various attendants claiming they did not speak any English, but my experience was wholesome as a whole.

It's a little bit noisy & crowded but still one of the best in the city. Nice Christmas decoration for 2018. BY 2024 , there is some update in the exterior design. Still same status. Some new stores.

Gothenburg is so picturesque. Although, we were running here back and forth for one freaking decent postcard. As a postcard connoisseur, I'd have wanted more artistic and decent postcards (please check my shots on @whistlinghound). Nevertheless, we did find our favorite, which was slightly overpriced but then it's Scandinavia. That's what we said to ourselves to justify it.

Nordstan mall. Lots of shops and dinnings. One of the best place if you have lot of time. It's at city centre. So evenings are more colourful during winters.

The shopping center is big but there are not many brands and stores 😒. You feel something missing. The decorations is so nice 😍. There are few good restaurants. 👍

Been here twice. The building is quite functional, so don't expect it to be decorative and beautiful like the opera in Vienna or Budapest. The acoustics are quite decent. Make sure you don't buy the cheapest seats (corner seats on 4th floor balcony) . We did that and half the stage was not visible nor could we read the subtitles.

Amazing place just by the river. As we got our tickets the day before the performance we ended up at the top furthest away from the stage but it was still an amazing experience.

We enjoyed a delightful contemporary performance of Barber of Seville with my brother-in-law, nephew and his two teenage children. The theater has subtitles in English and Swedish and a small orchestra. My husband and I had a pre-performance dinner that was first class. The chef presented gourmet dishes followed by an indescribable thaibasil sorbet and coffee. A must do if visiting Gothenburg ❤

Okay food at the Gothenburg waterfront and Good service in a spacious building. Had a 3 course dinner. Starter was excellent. Main and dessert not perfect. Wine matching can be improved. A bit noisy when full house.

Was the first time going to the Opera. Saw Rigoletto, was a lot of fun and a great show! The staff were very attentive and could accommodate our needs and changes at a short notice. The food was good, especially loved the risotto they served, packed with flavour! Even tho they didn’t ask how I wanted my meat it was cooked to perfection. I had an amazing day and would recommend going to the opera at least once.

Very nice venue for music and theatrical events. Children friendly the right events. The line of sight is great from the balcony however the distance is quite far.

I had dinner here with short opera gig. Check summer table schedule before the visit. There were some people hearing the singing outside of the restaurant(near the river) and it’s also okay. Food was good enough. I recommend you to book ahead. You may sit in outdoor table without a roof without booking and it can rain in Gothenburg. 🙃
