Impressive historic cathedral in Cadiz. Thanks to a reasonable entry fee it was not crowded at all, so we could enjoy it in peace and quiet. The crypt is great too with an echoing vault chamber that you should not miss out on. Also great is the bell tower that you can walk 40m upwards with no stairs but a circular ramp. I would recommend it this to all who visit Cadiz.

So, not a great deal to say about this, its a cathedral! But they have an audio guide which you can access on your phone which is good, a crypt and a tower you can climb. The tower gives great views over the city and the climb up was surprisingly easy because its mostly a slopping floor rather than steps. Although still not an easy climb in the heat and would avoid if you have any mobility issues. Reasonable price of entry too, worth a visit if you are in the area

This architectural era was all about the money, but I don’t know how this was financed. How everything was made to fit and not a lot of mistakes were on display... it is indeed the typical cathedral built 100 years ago. I must say the bathroom was my favourite part.

Cadiz Cathedral is definitely a place to visit. A rather controversial architectural amalgam (find out the details during the visit), it is nevertheless an interesting edifice. The church tower is a panoramic spot over the city very good for photos.

It’s seven euros to get in. I think it’s a little steep, but it includes going to the bell tower as well. The cathedral itself is gorgeous make sure to go down to the crypt. There is a memorial for the famous composer Manuel de falla. My favorite part is, of course, going up to the bell tower. There are no steps but a gradual incline to go up. The view from the top is gorgeous. You can see the beach and much of the city. Beware that when the bell rings, it is loud. Overall it is a beautiful experience.

After the visit sit acroos the entranceand enjoy live music street performers and Best icecream ever. 7 EUR entrance Is for the tower, the church and the crypt in which are buried the composer Manuel de Falla and the poet and playwright José María Pemán, both born in Cádiz. But the guide was mostly about the painting and the sculptures and to detailed. It took too long. You can also visit the tower with the same entrance ticket. It is a beautiful and peaceful place to wander around and take a break. I definitely recommend a visit. When in the crypt, if you stand in the centre of the dome and make the slightest noise, it will be echoed around for several seconds. Amazing accoustics.

Main cathedral of cadiz €7 entry gets you up the Tower inside the cathedral and a museum in a separate building, well worth the price. Its a ramp to the top of the tower with a few stairs at the top, the bells are active and ring every 15 miunites so be aware it's loud. Great 360 views from the top.

A wonderful and magnificent Cathedral of Cadiz. A huge building and contains much of marble works. It has many small altars dedicated to saints. It has a wonderful altar and a crypt beneath the altar containing many things including the incorruptible body of St Victoria brought here.from Rome in the 1800s. The marble works are amazing.

Torre Tavira, along with the Cathedral bell tower, offers the best views of Cadiz. You'll see a whole different perspective of the city from above. The tower itself is one of over 140 watchtowers in Cadiz and is located close to the market. What makes it unique is it also the home of the first Camera Obscura in Spain - a combination of a telescope and mirrors/lenses that allow real time images to be projected onto a circular screen inside. The first two levels of the tower have exhibitions and information on the history of the camera obscura and Cadiz in the 18th century. The third level houses the camera obscura itself, and above is a fantastic rooftop terrace with uninterrupted views of the entire city. To visit the tower you'll need to make a reservation online. Due to the pandemic numbers are tightly controlled. I booked the night before and had no problems but in peak tourist season you might need to book further in advance. The tower is open between 10am - 6pm October - April and 10am - 8pm May - September. The price is 7 euros. You'll typically spend about 30-40 minutes here. 15 minutes consists of viewing the camera obscura with a guide that will explain how it works and show you a 360 degree live view of Cadiz. They also point out many of the main attractions of Cadiz and explain the differences between the 4 main types of towers. Some of the points of interest are impossible to see from anywhere on the streets including the oldest tower. The rest of the time you are free to look at the exhibitions and view the city from the roof terrace. I was booked on the Spanish speaking tour but the guide spoke both Spanish and English.

The tower is easily reached on foot. It is not very high and can be climbed in 10 mins. The stairs are narrow and two way traffic can be a bit cramped at times. The ladies at the reception are very friendly and helpful and speak multiple languages. The view from the top is quite extensive specially since Cadiz is quite a flat town. They also have guided tours every 30 mins or so. They also have a special discount for ship crew members.

Its €5 just to go to the top, for the obscura you need to book in advance, but the viewpoint is what's important. Great view of the city. Probably the best view of the city as you are in the middle of it and you can also view the cathedral. Entrance is only 5€ without the camera obscura. La Caleta is what I would describe as a "city beach" which for me personally doesn't really cut it. If you're looking for something with nicer sand, more space and better swimming I'd recommend the 15 minute walk to Playa Santa Maria del Mar or Playa Maria de la Victoria. Having said that there are a lot of positives. The location is great - close to bars and restaurants and with views of San Sebastian and Santa Catalina castles. It's also a good spot to catch a sunset. There's a beach club and beach chairs and snacks are available. The beach is shallow so it's safe for children and there is a lifeguard. However it's quite tidal and when the tide goes out it's not so pretty to look at and would make me think twice about actually swimming there - especially with all the small fishing boats moored there. The footing could be quite slippery and rocky.

Lots of trees and in the centre there was a rocky waterfall feature that you could climb up to view the waterfalls and tunnels underneath behind them. By late morning/early afternoon the periphery transforms into eateries and tapas bars where you can sample the fare and get some of the best montaditos (small sandwiches) and fries fish around. A must to visit. Morning is the best time to visit.

There is an inside where the fresh food is available for purchase and then in the outside courtyard there are small shops each selling local food and local delicacies. The best food market I have been to by a mile, the combination of the food market inside and small restaurants (food stalls) around is a brilliant idea. The famous food markets in e.g. Barcelona, Madrid and Seville are more for locals than travelers but this one takes the food market concept further by offering dishes made from fresh ingredients from the market. Everything we tasted was delicious (including seafood salads, paella and sherry) and the atmosphere was great on a sunny day. Mercado Central Cádiz is one of the highlights of our trip to Spain.

Especially love the story behind the 2 pre Roman sarcophagi, the male one discovered first by an archeologist who was convinced there was a female counterpart, but never found it while he lived. After he died, a team found the female version under the archeologist's house!

You will be able to walk over one of the oldest Phoenician settlements found in the West. The site is divided into different levels, corresponding to the different periods of occupation of the settlement, in which the layout of the streets, the houses and the tools of the 9th century BC can be seen. It is fascinating to see the fossilized footprints of cattle that crossed these roads and the remains of a Phoenician male. In addition to these Phoenician ruins, you will see the ruins of a Roman fish processing factory. Free entry, check their website to find out how to reserve a ticket at the ticket booth. Excellent presentation of Phoenician ruins excavated in Cadiz. Video is a bit schmaltzy but sets the scene. Information boards are very good and staff extremely helpful and pleasant. Tours take place hourly and are restricted to 25 people per time. If there are tickets free you can go straight in otherwise you must wait for the next vacancy. Although says opening hours in morning to 1pm there is a tour starting at that time You can get tickets in advance which is worthwhile although there are plenty of bars/restaurants very near in the Central Market. Expect video presentation and walk round to take approx 45 mins.

Fantastic tour! Our guide, Laura, was absolutely delightful. It gave me great pleasure seeing how, as young as she was, she was so passionate, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about everything. So you need to walk half way up the ramp to the theatre where you will find a discrete ticket office.

It's free to enter. They will present you a cute video explaining the life of the Phoenician body they discovered on the site and then you will see the ruins. You will be having a very polite guide, that will explain to you everything. I loved this visit, I still can't believe that I did all of this for free. The archaeology was very cool but the presentation/information to accompany it was very poor. The panels barely contained any information especially when I compare it with my visit to the Roman Theatre just a few streets over. Very little information about the limited capacity and that we would need tickets (free entry though). The video at the start was in spanish with german subtitles and we received no information if we should come back for any english. Thankfully my friend is spanish and was able to translate any bits that I did not pick up myself (I can understand bits of Spanish). The guide also asked us very strictly that when my friend was translating for us to be very quiet, we had been very quiet and waited to translate where there was no one else talking and she did so in quiet whispers keeping it as brief as possible. Extremely disappointed in this museum. I would advise anyone who wants to visit to check the day before and enquire, there seemed to be very little information about the actual visit online.

The tours here last about 45 minutes. While there is no admission fee, you *DO* need to reserve a ticket, since tour group-size is limited. Here you will see Gadir (Cádiz) in situ from the time it was colonized by the Phoenicians, through the Roman period. The building houses a beautifully preserved space, with translucent walkways over the ruins. Different-colored gravels distinguish between Phoenician and Roman structures. A multimedia presentation at the beginning lends a wonderful overview to the space throughout its history. There are even skeletal remains of an unfortunate that was overcome by smoke during a fire some 2,800 years ago. The tour guide we had spoke wonderful English, was VERY knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. Kudos to her! The only reason for losing a star: apparently in very recent history, lightning knocked out the air conditioner and dehumidifier for a while... this has led to some very musty odors at one end of the site, that made it difficult for us to breathe without covering our noses. This site is definitely worth a visit!

Bridge is over 3 kilometers long, its two main pylons reach a height of 185 meters, and the main space between them is 540 meters. The road is located at an altitude of 69 meters above sea level.

This is one of the iconic bridges in the world in my opinion. I was surprised at the design and even more intrigued by the details when crossing it. I compare everything to my home town of NY which is also known for bridges and this one stacks up to some of the best. As an individual that has worked in civil engineering for over twenty years I can say that Cádiz got this modern take on a bridge right. My only wonder now is if they had the good sense to use the best building practices in reference to the beautiful environment that surrounds it? Anyway, I'm crossing my fingers and hoping that it was built in an environmentally sustainable way.

Dating back to the 1st century BC this ancient Roman theatre is located alongside the southern promenade of Cadiz and can be partially seen from the street. The entrance is just off of the main cathedral square on the left as you look at the front of the cathedral. Its easy to miss if you're not paying attention. Admission is free and there are two options. If you want to see the museum and the theatre you need to make a reservation online or by phone. If you're not a museum person and just want to see the theatre you don't need to make a reservation. The museum is quite well done. You'll only need about 30-45 minutes here.

Free for EU citizens. It’s not much left of this theatre, but it is the oldest one around. It went through a lot of history so it’s worth seeing just because of that. The tunnel is in itself a very nice experience. It is the second largest theatre built by the Romans in Spain; only the theatre in Córdoba is larger. It is also the oldest known Roman theatre in Spain. It was constructed in around 70 BC.

Being one of the oldest structures in Cadiz (1st century BC), this incredible theater is a must-visit spot in Cadiz. There's so much to see & do in Cadiz no wonder the various cruise ships have it as a stop over... this Roman amphitheatre is another one of the places to go... it's maybe not in Rome but what you learn is that there was a standard building plan for all the amphitheatres so you get a feel for how they were 2000+ years ago. The remains of a Roman theatre underneath some houses, makes for a unique viewing. The small museum is of interest. However, the view from the teatro of the modern buildings isn't great. It seems a lot of lime plaster was blown off the apartment building, onto the theatre and has been left. It is in dire need of a lick of a paint. I don't see why they couldn't paint a mural on the apartment wall, to be like the video of the theatre shown. Would be a bit involved, but better than what is on show.

A wonderful find: brilliant, small museum with just enough information to hook you! The video explaining the site was very useful and the artefacts were interesting, especially the graffiti. To walk the tunnel under the stand is really atmospheric. And even better: it’s free! Highly recommended.
