A small castle on top of a hill, surrounded by beautiful gardens and well-tended grounds. The toilets are surprisingly clean and there are a number of vending machines with drinks. It’s a nice area to go to relax. There are also festivals held here throughout the year. Definitely go for cherry blossom viewings if possible!

It’s definitely one of the smaller castles in Japan, but it has very high historical value as 1 of only 12 Japanese castles that have been preserved largely as they had been built. There’s a bit of a hike up to get to the main building of thr castle, but it’s definitely worth it to get a view of the sea and city from up high, esp. right before sunset.

The keep itself is a little small, but it is very old. A lot of the original wood construction can still be seen here. The view from the top of the mountain is awesome! The castle grounds are well maintained, and there are vending machines and toilets available near the top. The gift shop at the bottom of the mountain is really interesting. We saw some people making traditional Japanese fans.

Entrance fee is 200 yen for adult, and 100 yen for children. I still feel 200 yen is too much though. The castle is a walking hazard with the termite-ridden wood falling apart, and there is nothing noteworthy inside except for the tile with a fan sculpture. The exterior still looks okay so if you want to visit you don't need to pay inside and get disappointed.

We hiked up the hill to see the beautiful Marugame Castle during the summer of record breaking heatwave. It was well worth it because the wooden castle and it’s surrounding views were amazing. Recommend everyone to come see it!

Nice castle, nice views, nice gift shop. A bit of a hike but it's all sloped so it's not too bad. Castle keep closes at 4pm but I think you can enter the grounds any time.

Marugame castle is beautiful. Today, I visited and saw the cherry blossoms. If you visit the area, make sure to visit at night. The view of the city lights at night is fantastic.

Sakura at Marugame Castle in Kagawa Prefecture-Japan. Different views of Marugame Castle during the Cherry Blossoms matsuri in Kagawa Prefecture-Japan. Featuring: A cherry blossom view of Mount Iino (飯野山) is seen from Marugame Castle. This mountain is also called Sanuki Fuji because it resembles Mount Fuji. And it is one of the 100 Famous Japanese Mountains, standing at 422 meters above sea level. Sanuki is an ancient name of Kagawa, so Sanuki Fuji means a mountain like Mount Fuji in Sanuki. I really enjoyed this sakura spot. The climb to the top is a bit steep but rewarding in the end. There is a nice atmosphere here, very enjoyable.

We did not expect to find this kind of theme park in Kagawa Prefecture but we are so glad we did! Our toddler seemed to have had a really nice time. We only bought entrance tickets for about 2,000+ yen (children under 2 yo has free pass) because we thought the rides won't be safe for our little one but surprisingly, most of their rides were child-friendly! It was a beautiful place during the day, I think it is a nice spot for sunset viewing plus it had a great view of the Sanuki Fuji (perfectly cone-shaped mountain like a smaller version of Mt. Fuji) but wait until you see the illumination at night and the projection mapping! I personally love the Angkor-Wat replica and the English Garden was beautiful with the Sakura in full bloom swaying through every wind blow creating a snow-like shower of petals. It was just a relaxing scene to witness while you have a sip of your beverage at their tea room. 😍 The mom in me was also glad that they had resting/breastfeeding rooms that were easy to access and was spacious enough for the whole family to rest together. We finished our day with a visit to the hotel's Oedo Onsen Spa which was also child- friendly, they had an onsen pool with temperature that is bearable for small children and they also had small tubs and bathing chairs for babies! Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I wish we had more time to explore. I think it is a perfect place to stay for a weekend getaway!

Great theme park! I stayed there at the hotel, which is very nice with lots of cool rooms and their buffet is absolutely amazing! The theme park itself is also something not to be missed. The staff are also very welcoming and helpful. Overall, I had an awesome experience at New Reoma World, I would definitely go again. 😀

Very nice place to visit with kids. The illuminations were beautiful! There are also few visitors on weekdays so it’s nice to stroll around. Waiting time for rides is very short. The ticket is cheap compared to major theme parks. Hotel guests can get discounts on the theme park tickets when you buy them at the front desk. Overall very good for value of money.

Don't come here expecting Disneyland, I'll say that first. This little park is charming and the workers are friendly and wholesome, and it was a ghost town, even though we went on Saturday. We didn't see all the areas or go on the rides, but there weren't a lot of areas that were interesting to us. The Oriental Trip portion was cool, with the replica buildings, but we had to pay an extra 500 yen to enter, though we already had the entry pass. I was happy to support the place, but I don't feel I got my money's worth at all. ^^; And definitely came to the rose gardens in the wrong season! Very little was blooming. The view was nice, though.

A fun experience with nice workers!❀ There were many places to take pictures with friends and the fireworks were impressive. I recommend eating crapes for dessert, they were delicious. I would have given 5 stars if there very more things to do at the park👍 Put on warm clothes, it will get cold✹

We visited this place twice, but did not come for the theme park, mainly for the onsen and the food, especially for the ALL YOU CAN EAT CRAB. During our first visit we took their free shuttle near TENNOJI station, OSAKA. Years later, on our second visit, the shuttle was no longer free, they imposed a nominal fee, which was more than reasonable. We enjoyed both visits, just missed the crab on the second stay.. However, we enjoyed the day tour to Kazurabashi Bridge かずら橋 - Iya Valley. Apparently, they have several tours with different itineraries, some booked out early. We shall return, and will make sure not to miss the tour we are interested in.

This museum makes a stop in Marugame totally worth it. Only about 45 minutes from Okayama by train (over a beautiful bridge!) the museum houses Inokuma san’s beautiful collection in a wonderful building. The museum shops and the cafe are some of the best I’ve seen. Their seasonal exhibitions (autumn 2023 is textile genius Reiko Sudo) converse with the permanent collection and are engaging and unusual.

they have English wall text! They didn’t even have that at the most popular museums in Tokyo (the most populated city in the world 😅) I was very impressed. I came for the MIMOCA EYE and it was a fantastically curated show of current artists in Japan. The museum is off the beaten path in terms of the city, but there is a JR station literally right next to it. If you have a chance to go, please do ☺ I am currently studying Japanese and have my bachelors in fine arts and I especially loved the little pencils with quotes about art and museums from Genichiro himself that are available for purchase in the gift shop!

Uchiwa fan museum. It’s free. Marugame produces 90% of Uchiwa in Japan. You can see how the fun is made. Artisan was pretty nice. I bought one Uchiwa for myself here.
