I recently visited the Garden of Heroes in Mesollogi and it was a truly inspiring experience. The garden is a beautiful tribute to the heroes of the Greek War of Independence, featuring statues and monuments that honor their bravery and sacrifice.
Ioannis Daskalakis — Google review
A good preserved and maintenance garden full of historical people of modern Greece people and all those filellelines including the most famous Byron! Definitly worth the time and trip!
GreeceYou Lei — Google review
Quiet, beautiful, touching, green garden, that keeps the memory of all those many, coming from several countries, who gave their lives for the Independence of Greece. The statue of Lord Byron stands upon the burial of his heart. Missolonghi has not much to offer, except the emotional views over the lagoon, but this place is extraordinarily worth seeing, if you're keen on culture and history.
cristina catarinicchia — Google review
In this small garden lies a great part of Greece's modern history and the people's fight for freedom against the Ottoman empire. Worth a visit if you are visiting the holy city of Mesolongi.
Vasileios Psomiadis — Google review
Lovely, well maintained park with lots of history. All in Greek, but you can get a good feel for the regions hero's during the war of independence.

This location is a memorial and a tribute to all who have sacrificed their lives to rid Greece from the tyranny of Turks. Many nations including Italy, France, the United States the United Kingdom and many other European countries have fought side by side with the Greeks in the early 1820s to successfully rid Greece of the tyrannical Turkish regime. A lot of history lies within the walls of the garden of heroes in the city of Messolongi.
Savas Adamantidis — Google review
It is worth visiting from the historical perspective.

The Garden of Heroes of Mesolongi is a historical memorial site commemorating the heroism of the residents of Mesolongi during the battle against the Turks at the Greek War of Independence.
During the Greek uprising that broke out in 1821, the local people killed the Turkish governor and liberated Mesolongi.
As a result, in 1825, the Turkish sultan sent a military force to reconquer the city.
The Turks besieged the city for nearly a year and the residents of the city were forced to fight hunger and epidemics without any means and without any external assistance.
Until they decided to escape the siege and made a plan for that at the night of April 10, 1826. But the plan was passed on to the Turks by a local traitor, and the Turkish forces waited for them. During the heroic battle that developed, Many of the city's residents, including women and childrenת were killed.
In memory of the battle, a memorial parade is held every year, on Sunday, of the week before the Greek Pascha, a parade that is ending in the Memorial Garden.
Bottom line: Do not miss this historical heritage site that commemorate the heroism and the courage of the brave residents of Mesolongi!

Today I called the people of this Holy place to arrange a night of stay in the monastery.
I could easily stay in a hotel and this is not the matter...
The sensation of staying in a divine place was that I was looking for.
I was so wrong...
A non kind guy replied to my call and also told me that there is no place for my small dog in their place.
So sorry for the experience I had and thank you for blocking my way towards you. I had a completely wrong idea about you.
There is no scenario I can control on earth that can separate me from my loyal friend.
May God spare you enlightment.
Jesus was just right again.

The Monastery of Proussos was named from the Icon of Panagia Prousiotissa from Proussa in Minor Asia. It is a historic building that has kept expanding due to donations. The location is impressive and it can get very busy as buses arrive from all over the world to visit this. We loved the old clock and the oldest part of the monastery. One star less as it looked more like a business modern monastery that does not fit with the older part of the church. Still architectonically it is beautiful and you should definitely visit it.

One of the most beautiful historical monasteries in Greece. A journey on time with a breathtaking location. A visitor could learn a lot about medieval and modern Greek and religious history while visiting this monastery. Also, really close to Proussos village and Mavri Spilia. Highly recommended for a true travel experience.

You can feel the divine atmosphere all over the Monastery of Virgin Mary called Prousiotissa. You can visit it anytime of the year any day of the week and timetable is posted on Google if you type the name of the Monastery! Hope you enjoy it as much as we did, God bless us all, Amen!!!

Very beautiful monastery in a special location. It's amazing the feeling you get when you get there and face it. We enjoyed the view, we learned the history of the monastery from a monk who wanted to explain it to us. Information: Better not to bother the monks unless they show you they are available. Some are there to get away from other people and get closer to god through prayer.

Mesmerizing monastery with a breathtaking mountainous view. It is quite strenuous to access the monastery due to the many road bends, however, when getting there you won't regret it.

If you can stomach the continuous turns on the way, the scenery and final destination will reward you. One of the most beautiful monasteries and church built inside a rock, has significant historic and religious value. Despite the high volume of pilgrims it was very organized with all facilities clean.

A nice cove to come to with a rented boat. You can also anchor down inside and go snorkeling, there are a lot of fish inside and very nice. A bit crowded at the entrance but it is ok.

The Cave of Papanikolis is one of the most famous spots in Meganisi. The color of the water and the fact that one can swim in it are some of the things that have made it so popular, beyond its historical significance. Of course, daily daily cruises from Lefkada and Parga visit the spot, so there is a possibility that it is too crowded. However, if you are a little lucky you can enjoy this unique natural landscape.
manos psathas — Google review
Incredibly beautiful cave! The water is sky blue, a lot of fish swimming nearby at hands reach. Don't forget your mask, you'll get an eyeful :)
Martin Slavov — Google review
An interesting cave we briefly visited during Odisseia boat trip. It is larger than it appears to be from the outside. We went snorkling, which was a bit underwhelming since there are mainly just rocks underwater. We liked the story about how a submarine was named after this cave.
Matevž Zakrajšek — Google review
We went here in our hire boat. It is beautiful. I recommend a visit.
Kerry Tutty-Lyons — Google review
Big beautiful cave. It can be reached only by water (big or small boats). It is a historical landmark as during WWII 1941-1942 a submarine hid in the water in this cave. There are boat tours that take you to this cave. The boat will stay only for few minutes to take some pictures.
Oana Ciocan — Google review
A nice cave with a wonderful story !
The cave was once much bigger than now (before the last big earthquake when a lot of rocks fell from the vault) so that at the time of WWII one of the few Greek submarines could hide here from Italian ships, with locals from Meganisi bringing food and supplies.
Nowadays the cave is just a cave with nice water with stunning colors, like the rest of Meganisi and nearby beaches.

Very small cave. You can stop by here if you have spare time.

Nydri star had it all! It was a fantastic program that allowed us to fully explore the best parts of Lefkada and so much more. We started with a tour of the island to see the famous Sapfo lighthouse, then we went to the most beautiful beaches I've ever seen, including Egremni Beach and the famous Porto Katsiki Beach, then we took a break in the beautiful graphic village of Kefalonia Fiskardo and had a well-known desert, Banoffee, before arriving at Ithaki Beach, which was without a doubt unique. Last but not least, we visited the Papanikoli Cave while having a happy hour on the drinks and food on the ship on the way back; we had a great time, and also we visited Skorpios Island, which was once owned by Onassis. Aside from the cruise's extensive and unique timetable, Captain Panagiotis was the best tour guide, ensuring that the entire ship had a good time and enjoyed the day. I strongly advise you to go on the cruise!
Mikaela Tzwannou — Google review
It was the first time on a cruise and we had a great time! IMPORTANT TIP: go early and take the sun beds from in front of the boat, even if you have to pay 10€ each, but it really changes the whole experience having more of a private experience and being able to see everything better.
The food was ok, better than expected 😂, we saw amazing things. The captain was funny and tried to explain what we were saying and where we were going.
Cristina Gutue — Google review
Great day cruise! The captain and the crew were friendly and professional with a great sense of humour! We were thoughtful enough to visit Lefkada in June and have the cruise on a Friday, so the boat wasn't too crowded which made it even better!
Christina Kechagia — Google review
Very good experience for the price. Really essential for a pleasant trip is to go off-season (May, beginning of June, September) For 50€ you will visit 3 white peble, rocky cliffs type of beaches, one village in Kefalonia, you will kind of enter a big, but shallow cave in the rocks and will see two private islands from a distance. You get between 45 and 85 min depending on the place. You actually get off the boat for 3 out of the 7 sight stops. Lunch is souvlaki with a little salad and dzadziki. The woman's toilets could use an update (doors don't close properly, no locks and broken toilet paper dispensers). It is a long trip, but it was nice and calm because there were around 50-80 people a board, but I really don't think it will be the same experience if the boat was at full capacity which is 500 people. 😳

Just returned from the whole day cruise.
Fantastic crew and staff, so friendly and kind.
Fantastic day out visiting amazing beaches without stress and effort.
Good lunch included in a reasonable price.

Okish boat, good price...go for 20usd without food and 25 with food included (2 souvlaki sticks, a small salad and a little tzatziki). Crew is nice and making the trip easy. Expect a normal trip seeing beautiful beaches. Relax and enjoy. As our group was full of Romanians, music was partial Romanian and Greek.
D Dragos — Google review
This is a very good tour company, they have three boats, Nidri star 1 that departures from town of Nidri as well as the Nidri star 3, and Nidri star 2 that departures from town of Vasiliki. The cruising involves visiting one of the most popular beaches on Lefkada island, Kefalonia and Ithaka islands, Onassi and Madouri island. Some boats have larger, some smaller routes, but whatever you decide to sail with you will have an opportunity to visit great places and unforgettable memory.
Vlada Bozic — Google review
A great way to explore the beauty of Lefkada and the surrounding islands. The staff is really friendly and the boat is comfortable.
A tip: arrive at least an hour before the cruise starts so that you can take up a good seating place, the right side of the boat is the best option because of the view.
Dragana Miladinovic — Google review
This is a very nice cruise boat. The day trip includes going from Nydri to Porto Katsiki beach- there you can go to the beach, Fiskardo in Kefalonia- you can walk through the narrow and beautiful streets, there are plenty souvenir shops and one amazing pastry shop where you can try typical Kefalonian Banofee pie. Next stop after about 40 minutes is the Golden beach on Ithaca - an amazing but pebbled beach 🏝️. After about 40 minutes there we had sailed to Papanikolis Cave and after that we had returned to Nydri. The staff was kind and everything was nice. First, when we bought our tickets they have mentioned that we we’re supposed to go to Egremni beach by the yacht, but it had come out that we couldn’t visit it because it wasn’t in the season.
Elitsa Donkova — Google review
With so many boats to choose from we weren't sure who to choose. We made the right choice! The Captain and his staff made this awesome trip even better. Thank you to you all for an excellent time. It was really enjoyable and well worth the money.
Becks Norman — Google review
A great experience. In just one trip we've seen so many beautiful places, amazing beaches, aquamarine-turquoise water. Would surely recommend them.
Anamaria Tiron — Google review
We went on nidri star 1 and it was a disappointment. The furniture was old and broken, most glass table tops were missing, upholstery torn, not enough shade on top floor, most people were sitting on plastic chairs, overcrouded, the carpet dirty. The crew was great and I suppose it is not their fault the ship needs a maintenance overhaul. The food was mediocre, i would've had more of the salad. The only things going for this cruise are the locations and beaches they visit. When stopped at Ithaca on a very tiny beach, there was another ship there and the beach was overcrouded. The music was loud and disturbing, I guess they wanted to accomodate the party people. I usually do not leave bad reviews unless it's really bad, but i wish I had chosen a different ship for this tour.
Andras Delczeg — Google review
A beautiful cruise around Lefkada and the surrounding Ionian islands, with multiple stops for swimming and/or shopping. Lunch is provided and there is a coffee/snack bar right on board. The crew is kind and helpful. An excellent experience.
Rebuilt river crossing dating to Roman times, famed for inspiring a popular folk song & proverbs.
Very beautiful picturesque and iconic monument, which you can walk on. Awesome views of the river. The highest point of the bridge gives some quite relaxing vibes.
Haris Krikelis — Google review
It is a fantastic 17th century AD stone bridge of the Arachthos River and it is the most famous sight to see in Arta. It is the most famous bridge in Greece because of its beauty and of the legend about the so-called "sacrifice of the master builder's wife" in order for it to be built. According to the well-known folk song, 1300 masons, 60 students, 45 craftsmen under the Chief Master, tried to build the bridge whose foundations were destroyed every morning. The length of the stone bridge of Arta reaches 145 meters while its width is 3.75 meters. Platanos tree on one side is considered to be around 350 years old. It is enormous.
fraus legi — Google review
Stopped by Arta just to visit this bridge. Sat by the cafe with a very old tree to enjoy the view and an espresso. Life is indeed very good.

The city of Arta, Greece is a modern, historical and very traditional city at the same time, in the regional place of Epirus, West Greece. The monumental stone bridge of the city was built between 5th and 4th century B.C.E. its nowadays shape, formed 1602 and 1606 A.C.E. its length is 142 m and it s fully stone constructed. It bridges the Araxthos river, which crosses the city, providing a relaxing and natural feeling. It can travel your imagination through roman and byzantine era, all the way to the ottoman empire and the greek revolution on independence, of which it was the natural border at that time, between Greece and Turkey. Take your time around the cafes to drink a coffee, and buy local souvenirs and sweets.
The municipality should take in mind to renew and clean more, the sourrounding area to be more eco friendly and touristic alike
Infinito Infini — Google review
The myth of legendary bridge of Arta.
A song is written about this bridge, the myth says that all day they were building it, at at night it would fall. The first builders wife had to be sacrificed in order for the bridge to complete.
Other then the myth, it’s a landmark of the city, took its final form in 1612. However, the foundations of the bridge show that in this place there was a bridge as early as classical or Hellenistic times. The last addition was made in the times of the Ottoman domination, when the pavement was raised, so the bridge took on its current appearance. Its current appearance is the culmination of many occasional additions and reconstructions of the original building. The structure itself and the way it was constructed testify to the various phases of completion of the project and lead us to the starting point of its history.
Evangelia Ioakimidou — Google review
The Bridge of Arta is a remarkable picturesque stone bridge over the Arachthos river in the west side of the city.
It has been rebuilt many times over the centuries, starting with the Roman era. The current bridge is an Ottoman construction from the17th-century.
In 1881, when Arta was liberated, the bridge was a part of the border between Greece and Turkey. The two-storey neoclassical building on the west end of the bridge, (nowadays, the Folklore Museum), was built in 1864 by an Austrian architect and was originally used as a Turkish customs office.
Bottom line:
Highly recomended spot for everyone who plans to visit Epirus district. You can take a break in one of the nice taverns around and enjoy the beauty of this beautiful historical bridge!!
Y.H. — Google review
Quite an enjoyable walk, we came here at night and found a restaurant to stay at. The water was flowing rather quickly creating a really relaxing splashing sound. If you're in the area I'd recommend to visit. Also make sure to check out the bridge's history!

The bridge of Arta is one of the most famous Greek bridges, known for its architectural perfection and
the famous legend of the master builder’s wife who had to be sacrificed for the bridge to be strengthened.
It's a beautiful stone bridge that crosses the Arachthos river in the west of the city of Arta. It consists of four large non-symmetrical semicircular arches supported by large abutments over which dominate the vaults. Its width is 3.75 m and its length 145 m.
Apart from an architectural monument, it is also a historic monument. In 1881, when Arta was liberated, the bridge was the border between free Greece and Turkish-occupied Greece.
It has been rebuilt many times over the centuries. The bridge was constructed during Ancient Roman times. According to some traditions it was built when Arta became capital of the Despotate of Epirus, possibly under Michael II Doukas (1230-1271). Other alleged construction dates vary from 1602 to 1606.
ERMIONI MITSIOU — Google review
A nice place to stop off for a leg stretch. The history here is worth looking into as it’s been repaired many times throughout history and pieces have fallen away or been added. There is an information board to explain everything on the north side.
Lift_Run_Eat_ — Google review
It is an interesting monument (check on Google for more details about its construction).
There are coffee shops around it.
You can actually walk on this bridge.
If you want to take a full picture with the bridge it's better if you are across on the driving bridge, but this is tricky because you have to stop the car and take your photo. 😁

Nothing prepares you for the breathtaking beauty of Faneromeni Monastery as you drive up the winding road between the beautiful houses, a distance of about three kilometers from the city of Lefkada. The monastery, considered the most beautiful and impressive of the island's monasteries, is located on the slopes of a wooded pine tree hill, and the view from it to the north, of the city spread out at its foot, against the blue sea, is spectacular in its beauty.
The monastery, built in honor of Virgin Mary, the patron of the island, took its present form during the Venetian conquest (1684 - 1797), but was rebuilt in 1887, after a severe fire that consumed many parts of it.
Apart from the impressive church in the center, and the residential buildings of the monks, the monastery also contains 2 small museums, the "Naval Museum", with ship models, and a museum with exhibits of religious works.
Apart from that there is also a small zoo in the monastery area (nice attraction for children).
Once a year an impressive ceremony is held during the month of June with the participation of many inhabitants of the island, to mark the feast day of the Madonna.
Bottom line: Do not miss this great and inspiring site!!

A peaceful and calm refuge from the crowded, noisy town of Lefkada below. It was a blessing to be able to enter the church with its vibrant icons of the Theotokos, Saint Paisios, and Saint Porphyrios in the nave, and the relics of several saints next to the altar. It is a place to experience the inner stillness that allows us to feel the presence of God.

The archeological site was interesting, there were two more or less uninjured mosaics. And the odeon (theatre) was amazing, and the wall 2 km long around the village. The museum is 2 km far from the ruins, but I recommend it to see.

Awesome insights into the Roman and Byzantine era of this part of Greece, focusing on the ancient town of Nicopolis (nowadays continued by modern Preveza). Adults pay 8 €, kids are free, and the tickets can also be used for the nearby archeological sites which offer well restored ruins, mosaics and more from ancient Nicopolis.
A must see for Lefkada/Lefkas visitors, or people travelling in the area.

Nestled within a vertical cliff of a mountain, the Holy Kipinas Monastery is an awe-inspiring 13th-century structure with hand-painted icons showcasing the skill of students from the School of Fine Arts in Ioannina. The monastery offers incredible views and a sense of tranquility, making it an ideal spot for relaxation and prayer. While its exterior is breathtaking, some visitors find the interior less impressive.
The monastery is built into a rock. It is beautiful to look at from the outside and inside is not less impressive. There is always a guy there to open the locked room for visitors. Just ring the bell.
Hanan Nahari — Google review
A small but impressive monastery with a lot of history. Apart from its location which is great and completely fitting in the environment, inside you will find a very long tunnel. Access is not prohibited from what I gathered but it was also not recommended. We made a couple of steps though, since it took us an hour and a half to get there. A deviation to check it out is recommended.

An incredible experience visiting this 13th-century monastery built into the mountain with incredible views. What truly struck me were the hand-painted icons, each a testament to the skill and dedication of the students from the School of Fine Arts in Ioannina. Knowing that my visit contributed to supporting these talented individuals on their path in iconography added an extra layer of meaning to the journey. A must-visit spot in Tzoumerka!

The monastery is an amazing place to relax, pray and enjoy the beautiful view of the nature. The church is small but well preserved. It seems like it's build inside the mountain. Also, as we were informed the monastery is open from 10:00 until 16:00. Highly recommended!

It's much more beautiful from the outside than from the inside. The monk there in taken 5 EUR in order to enter to the burial cave there- but there nothing impressive to see there.

The drive up there is doable with a Van.

In the charming town of Metsovo, one can explore a unique cultural experience at the Averoff Art Gallery. Named after Evangelos Averoff-Tositsas, this gallery houses an impressive collection of paintings and prints from the 19th and 20th centuries.

4th of May 2022.
The Averoff Museum of Neohellenic Art was opened during August 1988. It has the permanent exhibition and many others from time to time. The permanent exhibition has 250 works by the major Greek painters, printmakers and sculptors of the 19th and 20th century, like Fasianos, Egonopoulos, Lytras, Volanakis, Parthenis, Hadjikyriakos-Ghikas, Moralis and many more.
Two of the paintings that we used to ‘meet’ in our books at school, there are also there. These two are: the dude eating his watermelon of 1880 (ο μάγκας που τρώει καρπούζι) from Pantazis Periklis and the burning of the Turkish flagship by Kanaris (Η πυρπόληση της τουρκικής ναυαρχίδας από τον Κανάρη) of 1873 by Lytras Nikiforos.
Still life is alternating with colorful landscapes and angelic faces are alternating with sad ones in this museum full of history, that you should not miss.
Of course, for those who seek the unexpected, there is the room with the modern means of expression. Take a look and enjoy.
Tip: Do not miss the room with Metsovo’s history unfolding through photos.

The Folklore Museum of the Tositsa Foundation (Tositsa Mansion) has been operating since 1955. The museum includes traditional wood-carved furniture, textiles and embroidery and many gold-embroidered costumes. Furthermore, it has decorative and useful objects like weapons from 1821, coins, agricultural utensils and post-Byzantine icons of the period 1650-18.
I amazed by few exhibits I want to let you know to show you how they used to organize and operate a Metsovo mansion.
-The barger’s skin, which they used as a changing-table for babies.
-The huge crab legs using as a tsipouro glass in order to dazzle their visitors, since up in the mountains only few people had already seen the ocean.
-They key of the pantry. The oldest woman-yiayia of the house was holding the pantry key and it was locked. In that way, they wanted to ensure that winter supplies would not be stolen.
- 300 and 400 year old horse gold-embroidery saddles inside the stables.
- The source of water, which was located inside the lower floor of the house to avoid going outside during the polar winter temperatures.
-Last but not least, I am amazed by the office of Evangelos Averoff with his glasses and hi political speech written in cigarettes’ box.
A big thank you to kind Thodoris that he is like a moving encyclopedia regarding the Tositsa mansion and he gave me all this useful information during the tour at the museum. Thank you because he was so patient to answer all my questions willingly and with kindness.

Such a unique experience, the museum is very interesting. You can understand how the life was years ago and especially how a rich was living. Series of waxwork dioramas created by sculptor Pavlos Vrellis & recreating events in Greek history.
This privately run museum was created by a single person, Pavlos Vrellis, who was passionate about Greek History. You will see several exceptionally made wax sculptures, representing several historical figures. The gruesome period before and after the Greek Independence War in 1821 is well represented.
While Greek people will be familiar with (most of) these personalities, there is very little background information in English. The tour guides will offer a few details, but it's a good idea to study the museum's comprehensive website before visiting.
Tickets cost 6 euros. Photography is explicitly not allowed, due to the grim nature of many of the exhibits.

The personages seems not so "real" and if you are "claustrophobic " its not a good idea to go here you are in the dark and it's cold and some personages move her eyes to look at you ... you don't feel so relax and you can not take photography and if you take the security gonna follow you on your back until the end like you have killed someone or like you have do the one abominable think it's stupid and crazy because in England you have the same thing and better with all the cinema star and you can take photos and touch the personages and it's seems more real it's stupid !

A well built and impressively staged collection of wax models, inspired by the Greek history. The way the exhibits are presented is original and really gets the visitor in the right mood.
On the other hand, there were at least two things I considered negative. The first one, is the lack of a guided tour, which is up to a point understandable because of the narrow spaces, the existence of lots of stairs and the details given on tags for each exhibit. As a result, although missing, I would not say that a guided tour is "needed" at least for the majority of visitors.
The most important drawback, in my personal opinion, is the prohibition of taking photos in the museum, for no obvious reason. Furthermore, the visitor is not informed for the prohibition in advance (when buying the ticket) but at the museum entrance, after he has already paid for it.
The whole prohibition makes the experience less complete and certainly does not help spreading the experience publicly.
Having visited many museums globally, this prohibition seems to be a bad "habit" in Greek museums, for no obvious reason.

Pamvotida (Pamvotis in Ancient Greek:the great provider) with a surface of 22.8 sqm/km is not only the largest lake of Epirus but the second oldest lake in Europe. Two bryozoan species have recently been reported from the lake. You
The lake is supplied by the springs of Mount Mitsikeli, of Drabatova, Sendeniko and Krya. The waters usually calm freeze occasionally. You would see locals and tourists alike to spend sunny summer days on its shores, walk next to the lake or having a meal/drink in the local restaurants, coffee shops, snack bars while enjoying the view.
There are thick reed beds around the lakeside as well as dense thickets of willows, poplar trees and huge plane trees which offer shelter from the wind to host local and migrational birds. Herons, grebe, snipe, swans and cormorants add to the natural beauty of the area. Lake Pamvotida is also home to Tsima (Τσίμα), a species of fish endemic to the lake.
In the center of the Lake Pamvotida, there is a picturesque island with many small monasteries, which can easily be visited because of the close distance between them. They were mainly built during the 13th century, when after the fall of Constantinople by the Franks in 1204 aristocratic families of the Byzantine capital, such as the family of Philanthropinoi, the Stratigopoulos, etc. fled here and founded the Despotate of Epirus. The monasteries reached their pick in the 16th century and their decline and desolation at the beginning of the 19th century when Ali Pasha, the Ottoman ruler of the area, trespassed the monasteries wealth and inflicted heavy taxation upon the residents. In 1822, in one of the cells of the Monastery of Panteleimon on the island the legendary Ali Pasha of Ioannina left his last breath. It was the outcome of his resistance to resign his official his official post as ordered by Sultan Mahmut II. To go to the island take one of the boats at Molos and in approximately six minutes you will reach your destination.

The Castle of Ioannina is a captivating fortress in the heart of an old town, showcasing architectural influences from both Byzantine and Ottoman eras. It features two citadels and several history museums, offering visitors an insight into its rich historical significance. The surrounding streets are adorned with picturesque homes, motels, and coffee shops that add to its charm. Accessible on foot from Ioannina lake, the castle also boasts spectacular views of the water body from atop.
One of the most beautiful cities in Greece!
Ioannina is the largest city in Epirus and a much-loved getaway for Greeks throughout the year. It has a unique atmosphere (especially when Lake Pamvotida is covered in its famous early-morning mist) and is full of cobbled streets and historic buildings, as well as museums and monuments linked to the Ottoman occupation and in particular Ali Pasha, the all-powerful late-18th and early-19th century ruler in this parts. And at the same time, it’s a student city, with a modern side and great nightlife and eating scene. Most getaways to Ioannina are for around 2-3-days (but we’re proposing longer), especially as it’s so close to the mountain villages and nature spots of Epirus, including the Zagori villages and Vikos Gorge and Parga and Sivota whose vibe and sandy beaches give them an island feel on the mainland.
The past and present combine effortlessly in Ioannina. On the one hand, it has preserved its cultural heritage and on the other, it has embraced student life. So every getaway to Ioannina should start with a city walk, just to soak up the atmosphere and check out the tavernas, shops and parks you’ll be enjoying during your stay. Oh, and don’t forget the nightlife spots.
A good place to start is Clock Tower, a city landmark built in the lower town in 1906 and relocated to the Park of Heroes (including the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier) by Dimokratias Square in 1918. From here, it’s a short walk to Litharitsia Park, where you’ll find the Veli Pasha Building Complex (with a mosque, a madrasa and auxiliary buildings), which was part of a palace built by Ali Pasha for his son, and the Litharitsia Fortress, with a rooftop restaurant/bar that has a view of the whole city.
An absolute must among the things to do in Ioannina is to explore its fortified old town, known as Ioannina Castle. Built on the banks of Lake Pamvotida, it is the oldest continuously inhabited Byzantine castle in Greece, although Hellenistic-era artefacts have also been found here. It contains some of Ioannina’s most historical buildings, the most famously belonging Ali Pasha, who rule a semi-autonomous state encompassing much of Greece and Albania from Ioannina from 1787-1822.
The Castle of Ioannina refers to two fortified parts, a walled northeastern citadel created in Byzantine times when it featured a palace and church dedicated to Saint John were replaced in the 17th-century Aslan Pasha Mosque complex, and Its Kale (the Inner Fortress) a southeastern enclave with separate walls and gates containing Ali Pasha’s palace other buildings.

We spent 5 days there in August 2021. In general it was very good experience! Clean and spacious rooms. Excellent view from almost all of them. The hotel has a playground and even staff for entertaining the kids. So it is really family friendly in that respect. Breakfast at the hotel was excellent. The only improvement point I would recommend is the bar/restaurant. The personnel was inexperienced and the food was not according to what one expects from a 5-star hotel. It seemed to me that the bar-restaurant staff started working there only that day. They had no clue about their job. Missing or wrong orders etc. Other that that, I would recommend this hotel, mostly to families. Needles to mention that the beach and the sea are of the most beautiful in the area.

Dear Hotel Team, Management
We had a wonderful holiday with you. But:
You have lovely hotel kittens, cats and all your staff are very lovely with them. We have fallen very much in love with the cats and are very sad to know that winter is coming and suddenly their whole world will be turned upside down. From an abundant food supply to nothing. Wouldn't it make sense to neuter the cats, treat them medically (dander, fleas, etc.) and give them a simple home for the winter, a little bit of food and water that would be incredibly progressive and an incredible upgrade for a hotel in your class! We are sure that the next time your guests will be happy to see familiar cat faces. If it is not financially viable, a charity pot for your cats would be useful. We are sure everyone would be happy to pay something into it.
Thank you and best regard Nina and Philip

This is not a 5-star hotel: the bathroom is dirty, we had a food poisoning this year, and the check-out was very stressful because our transfer was late and the ladies at the front desk were rude to us and other customers. One lady kept saying "no worries, you're in Greece", which is the exact reason why I am worried because in Greece punctuality is not a priority. Also the price of water and food was very high at the hotel. Not coming back.

I recently had the opportunity to stay at your hotel, and while I found the overall experience pleasant, there are a few aspects that I feel require your attention.
Firstly, I would like to commend the hotel itself, as it provided a comfortable and enjoyable stay. However, considering the range of services offered, I must express my concern regarding the pricing. In my opinion, the current rates seem very high relative to the services provided.
One particular area that warrants consideration is the beach facilities. Although having an ample number of sunbeds may seem beneficial, I believe it poses an issue for a hotel of this size. The overcrowding of sunbeds and the close proximity of individuals prevent guests from truly relaxing and enjoying the beach experience. This specific aspect of your service, offered at a relatively high cost, is the primary reason behind my criticism.
Regrettably, due to the aforementioned concerns, I find myself unable to recommend your hotel to others at this time. I believe addressing these issues and ensuring a more balanced offering would greatly enhance the overall guest experience.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I trust that you will consider these points constructively and take appropriate action to improve the hotel's services and beach facilities.

Not too sure we wasn't allowed to use the first 2 rows of sunbeds without any explanation other then our room number.,which is insulting as I paid a lot of money for a suite.
Definitely not a place if you have walking disabilities.
The female waiting staff were very nice, however the males were generally miserable, maybe it was just a thing towards people from great Britain.

📍Good points.
Good location near the beach.
Nice view.
Nice staff.
📍Bad points,
▶️Where we went to the Reception the price that was offered 1 day before was changed (a call was made by us and a call was made by a Greek friend of ours from Lefkada to make sure).
The room left something to be desired, the glass toilet door is not practical. The price does not justify the quality.!

Location is outstanding; in a lovely quiet bay about 5km from Parga. Hotel has a fantastic beach with plenty of sunloungers for all guests. Food was varied, though a little cold at times (this was probably to do with the hotel not being full). Service was okay, but slow at times in the restaurant; the beach staff were working tirelessly! Soft drink prices are too expensive - €6.50 for a 250ml coke/fanta; 1l of water was €4. This meant many people did not go to the bar after dinner which led to no atmosphere after dark. Wine was good quality with a price to match. Coral restaurant next door is worth a visit for local fish at reasonable prices. Mini mart by the camp site offers beer and soft drinks at normal price.
Beautiful quiet hotel, let down by drinks pricing strategy leading to non-existent evening atmosphere.

Recently returned from a weeks stay at this superb venue. Booked as a package holiday for 3 adults from the UK. We were very impressed with almost all aspects of the hotel, the only downside being the warm not hot food sometimes found at the restaurant, not too unusual for a buffet. If you're looking for a totally relaxed vacation this is the place to head for. South facing beach allows for plenty of sun worship time (when it's shining), from the slightly angled sun beds on the beach. Access from the main road to Parga/Preveza is pretty steep and not recommended for those with mobility issues. A €9 taxi ride will take you to Parga town centre, easily booked by the guys on reception - note; only 10 licenced taxis in Parga.
I would very much like to return in the near future for another dose of peace and quiet, and be happy to recommend to others likewise. *A special mention to Alexandra for all the assistance she gave us during our stay, very kind thank you.

We stayed at the hotel for 11 nights in September 2023.
The Service is ok, although the reception staff are very efficient, the restaurant/bar staff are friendly and willing but not fully attentive or engaged as you would expect from a 5 star hotel. On many occasions we had to make a concerted effort to grab someone’s attention.
The Food is good although lukewarm on most occasions.
The rooms although clean are below average, (the shower/toilet was so small that there is no space for a wash basin (which is therefore in the main bedroom).
The beach is beautiful (the hotel brochure gives the impression that the beach is exclusive to the hotel but it is a crowded beach with other buildings on either side of the hotel) but the whole experience is ruined by the number of hotel sun beds (more than required even at full capacity) which left a feeling that guests are almost piled onto each other.
Overall an enjoyable stay but in my opinion this is not a 5 star experience. The glossy hotel photos/website give a different impression which inevitably leads to some disappointment.

Food was good, hotel and staff very nice. Just felt a bit isolated. Water taxis were hit and miss due to bad weather and as the hotel is at the bottom of 13 hairpin bends the only way out was by taxi which was simple enough but added up.
Room was very nice but there was a drains smell at times.
Biggest negative is the price of drinks.
All in all probably wouldn't go back.

We have spent a week at the hotel in an executive suite and it's been one of the most enjoyable holidays we have had. The hotel is excellent from check in, to the bar and restaurant service, through to the lovely cleaners who ensure your room is spotless. We stayed in room 3002 and the seaview was stunning, as were the lovely gardens. The restaurant buffet on a half board basis offers a wide choice of food and all are very nice and it gives you the opportunity to try different things. The drinks prices were perhaps a little steep, but a small price to pay for staying in such a lovely hotel and location. We will definitely return. Thanks to all the staff who made our stay so memorable.

Crystal Water. A good view from your room. The beach was far from the hotel room, not to mention we were going uphill. Excellent service. Good food!

We have just returned from 1 week stay and the overall experience and stay was excellent. From check in experience with Alexandra - Guest relations and staff across the restaurant/bar to Housekeeping and Andreas - Beach Manager was faultless. All the staff were always pleasant and coudl not do enough to ensure your stay was a happy experience.
Only aspect is that the location is sligh distance away from Parga town with no shuttle service , therefore water taxi or taxi services is required.
We were allocated a ground floor room located nearest to the beach which was great - however we did have to raise a concern of the amount of children playing on the grass area at night beyond 11pm resulting in not being able to have an relaxing evening on our terrace. This was quickly dealt with by Alexandra and they have know set some guidelines in place to respect other guests stay.
Aside from that the stay was great with breakfast/dinner buffet being of great choice and also lunch/dinner a la carte menu was varied
Perched on a hill overlooking the village, the Venetian Castle of Parga dates back to the 11th century and offers stunning sea views. Originally built by the Normans in the late 14th century, it was reconstructed in the 16th century and later fortified under Turkish rule. Visitors can explore historical inscriptions, emblems of Ali Pasha, and a secret pathway to the sea.
The lower level is an easy walk to the sunset view. To get to the top its a bit more unstable but manageable depending on your steady foot. But it's definitely a must. The sunset is beautiful at the top of the castle.

Beautiful castle, that unfortunately is quite neglected. It definitely is more than just worth to pay a visit, but it desperately needs to be looked after. The view is magnificent from up there as well.

Some nice views over the town of Parga. Enter at your own responsibility, since the local government does not take care of the castle. There are warning signs however, all over the place. Took some really good photos there. Worth a visit.

A beautiful Venetian castle that adds to the beautiful town of Parga and makes it worth a visit. The entrance is free but there are a lot of signs stating that you enter at your own risk. If you follow the paths you have nothing to worry about. It took us 30-40 mins to walk all around and take some good pictures. Watch out for some hidden paths towards the upper part of the castle. The vegetation fits perfectly with the surroundings.

Beautiful village and castle/lookout point. Beaches on both sides that are beautiful and have nice little streets and food/drink spots.

Really cool castle that I loved to explore.
The castle is pretty small overall but due to the very rocky terrain it can take long.
I would recommend doing this if you are in decent shape or you can take it slow and you should be fine.
If not the early part of the castle has better terrain so you can just see that.
Worth while if you are in Parga for sure.
Bryan Russowsky — Google review
The Venetians built the fortress whose ruins we can see even today. The fortress had a strategic defence position for Parga and from here we can enjoy the view of the bays at Parga and Valtos. Now the ruins have unfortunately fallen into disrepair and lizards have taken over the abandoned ruins. Read more about our visit in Parga at amorfatitrips.com.

Outstanding view of Parga. The castle can be reached from the promenade, up the extremely steep streets. You can also come from the direction of Valtos beach, where you can enjoy the beautiful view of this beach.

The visit of the castle is completely free and you can go in various rooms of it. There a really nice photoshooting-spots as well :)
It wasn't even that full in the middle when we were there in september!
I would higlhy recommend to go up to the caslte.
I'd like to come back again!

Worth a visit, but beware as it's not maintained and paths are either very rocky or very slippery. Having said that, if you're relatively fit and have decent footwear, it's well worth the effort to see the ruins and enjoy some amazing views. A good opportunity for some arty photo's too.
Paul Green — Google review
There isn’t much of a castle, these are just a bunch of ruins on the hill and in a rather bad shape as of today. The area gets closed at 8pm, perhaps because some places are quite dangerous. But the views are great and they justify the hike up.

If you are planning to spend vacation Northwest side of Greece definitely you should stay in Parga, Greece or just visit this beautiful small historic town.
There you can visit the Venetian Castle of Parga for free and enjoy the true history.

Great food and a lot of water attractions.

Worth the visit. Wear good shoes because there are many steep places with grass and other bushes to cross.
Casual beachfront hotel featuring airy accommodations, plus 2 open-air restaurants with bars.
Stayed for 2 night's in October, end of season and quiet which worked well for us, staff were lovely and helpful. Lovely Hotel with amazing views of the beach, booked and paid for a sea view room with a balcony. Room was clean, shower quite low down and had to hold to use. Lots of sun loungers around the pool and beach. Lovely breakfast included with an omlette bar. 10 min walk to Praga along the beach but up a steep hill with steps. Ate in restaurant and food was fine. Had a great stay here.

I would like to draw attention to the ''chair manager - Νικος'' on the beach , to work on communication and improve it. Each guest is important and should be respected.
Namely, I had a really bad situation in which the ''chair manager'' was very rude to me.
I wanted to move to chairs that were closer to the sea, after one family left and they were empty. He showed up behind my back, I didn’t even understand he was a worker there and he just told me ,,this is busy now!'' Without any Hello or some introduction/explanation.
I asked why? He boldly replied - ,,Because I'm the manager here and I can do whatever I want!"
Additionaly, we left €20 even if we didn't spend that money on drinks because our bill didn't amount that much but as a cultural guest I followed the bar rule.
By the way our chairs was in the 3rd row. If your policy is not to accept guests who are not from the hotel or you have some rules, inform everyone nicely, with cultural behavior.
Really really bad for the beach bar imagine!
Thanks

I had the junior suite (olive branch) that was basically a pretty reasonably sized studio flat with a kitchenette, living and dining area. The flat wasn't overlooked and you had no neighbours, so privacy was glorious, as was the view from the room and balcony.
The service from the staff at reception, the restaurants and everything in-between was truly spectacular.
I have a lot of love and time for this hotel and would love to visit it again one day.

impeccable cleanliness;
restaurant with a view of the coast, terrace and space;
rich traditional and European menu!
I am impressed by the impeccable and warm service from the managers and staff of the hotel! I will gladly come again!❤️

We loved our vacation at Valtos Beach Hotel.
It’s a family owned hotel with outstanding service. I give 5+ to the staff. We stayed with our one year old boy and everyone helped us to have a great stay!
Variety at breakfast can be improved but we liked the omelette bar very much!
Alex who is working at the restaurant is very welcoming and polite.
The girl at the reception also made our stay great. She booked us a front table at a restaurant nearby.
The rooms look a bit outdated but were cleaned every day.

Valtos Beach Bar - We used their sunbeds for 5 days. The sunbeds are free, but you have to consume 15€ per person. Drinks, smoothies and cocktails are very good, food delicious, and the service is not bad. Overall, it was a good experience, but slightly overpriced menu.
Beach Bar and Restaurant Voutoumi, located on the beautiful island of Antipaxos, offers a delightful dining experience in a picturesque setting. The establishment provides friendly and efficient service, serving delicious food that embodies the essence of beach club vibes. With its fine cuisine and inviting atmosphere, guests can enjoy a meal accompanied by the soothing sounds of music in the background. The aroma of saltwater and sunscreen enhances the sensory experience as patrons indulge in their lunch.
We recently returned from Antipaxos and were eager to leave a review for this fantastic find on the island, just off one of the most idyllic beaches we’ve ever visited. Giannis, the owner, is welcoming and gracious and his team was efficient and made our meals more enjoyable. The food is the the best on the island, without a doubt. A variety of specials, mostly fresh fish, is offered daily, the drinks were fantastic, and the vibe at sunset is truly memorable. Highly recommended.

Friendly, quick service with fine food. Typical beach club vibes, music slightly too loud, smell of salt and sunscreen in your nose as you have lunch. One of the finer beaches of Antipaxos attached to this club (or maybe it's the other way around). Overall, glad we opted for this instead of climbing up to a different restaurant.

Antipaxoi Voutoumi Beach, Antipaxoi, 490 82, Greece
One of the most beautiful beach spots I've seen. Crystal clear water and white sand beach. Not easy to get there, but absolutely worth it once you get to the place. To get to paralia vrika from Benitses: drive to Lefkimi Port and get the ferry to Paxos. From Paxos, walk from the port to the village and ask information at the small port you find there. Some of the boats just go round the island or stop opposite the beach to allow you to swim. Ask for the ones which are stopping at the beach!

Awesome beach, to relax after a long day of boat traveling. You can either book a tour, a taxi, or rent your own boat to reach Antipaxoi and this beach is one of the first places you should visit.
It has 2 places that you can stay and eat but a lot of people as well. Booking a seat beforehand in one of the restaurants is highly recommended.

Absolutely incredible beach - the water is very clear and the sand so soft and white. You can rent the beach chairs and umbrellas ~€10. We got them from the taverna there and they refund the cost of the chairs if you get lunch from them. So it works out for everyone

What a lovely beach and crystal clear water . I read the reviews before coming here and one person said that it was like the Maldives . I can only agree with that !
It is a small beach with 3 restaurants where you can spend the whole day sunbathing and swimming. It is a Sandy beach so therefore if you snorkel there isn’t that much to see .
Getting there from Corfu was long and expensive ( first boat with Kerkyra lines at 9am for 70€ both ways for one person and then a taxi boat for 20€ both ways at 11 AM for one person ).
I had a bleds at that beach and I am looking forward to come back again.

I would say: SMALL MALDIVES. Clear tirquise water and bright sand. There is no regular boat line to the island of Antipaxos since it is barely populated. Use charter boats from Parga, Sivota or Corfu island, own boat or rent a boat. If you come with your own boat, note that anchoring is prohibited on tha left side of the beach, due to submerged electrical cable. Use the dock on the right side of the beach.

The best beach alongside Voutomi and Mesovrika I’ve ever been to. Fine white sand, amazing view and Caribbean like sea water. A must see! The only negative is that the island is only reachable by boats from Paxos and they are a bit expensive - 20 euro return per person. There is a bar on the beach and the prices are not different than those on Paxos and the sunbeds are free for the customers which is superb!

Vikos Gorge, located in Epirus, is a natural wonder that was carved over millions of years by the Voidomatis River. It spans 12km and reaches depths of up to 900m, with cliffs and steep drops creating stunning views. The gorge narrows to just 400m at its narrowest point, making it the world's deepest canyon in proportion to its width according to Guinness World Records.

This was absolutely breathtaking. We travelled by car and found the place easily, took a gentle stroll along the route and to the view point which is great. After spending time there we took the path to the left which has been carved from the rock face. Well worth it as long as you are careful because falling off the edge probably means death. I would not recommend the walk for small kids or people scared of heights. The view point is fine for everyone though.
Papingo Rock Pools, located between the villages of Megalo and Mikro Papingo in western Zagori, offer a refreshing escape. The clear, somewhat cold water flows down from the mountains, forming natural pools among limestone rocks. Visitors can swim and cool off in these deep pools while surrounded by stunning natural beauty. The area is popular during the summer months and features impressive rock formations throughout.
It is interesting to see how the water has eroded and smoothed out the layered rocks that are characteristic of this whole region. It has shaped the stone to look like it is man made from concrete, but in a very artistic way. Combined with the colour of the water it makes it very pleasing to look at. It is an easy walk for the whole family to enjoy.

A great place for cooling off in high summer (when I suspect it gets busy at times) but otherwise a bit lacklustre. What you get to see depends a great deal on when you go and how much water there is. The first pools you encounter are manmade - dams hold the water back to create bathing areas, but when the sluices are open the water is pretty shallow. Penetrate further along the stream into the cleft in the rock and it quickly becomes pretty with interesting vegetation growing out of the walls, but it is difficult to go far without walking in the stream itself, which varies from a trickle to a torrent.

What an amazing adventure! We did Kenyoning it was great! Walking through the river path and snepling from water falls, it was extreme experience. The crew was super nice, very professional and pay full attention for safety. Thank you Olga for great experience!

Unforgettable family experience from a very professional, kind, and respectful team. Communicating with Olga to book was straight forward with directions and follow up. What made the overall experience unique, however, was our instructor, Yiannis. He gave us clear directions in both Greek and English, made us feel safe and confident throughout the journey, answered all out questions, and accommodate all our requests for photos.
He even offered us a delicious hot tea after swimming in the freezing river which was comforting. Small thing matter!!!
Thank you Olga, Antonis, and Yiannis for the memories.

Great fun. Not to worry that it is
dangerous or difficult physically. The guides are super friendly and qualified. All the equipment, safety and comfort are supplied. Pickup and return to nearby hotels is free. Highly recommended.

Rafting at Voidomatis River was a great experience. Giannis and Olga run a lovely family business and seem to enjoy their jobs. Our instructor, Giannis, made us feel safe at all times and provided clear instructions on the techniques to follow and very interesting facts on the history of the area and the river. The price is affordable and on the plus side, you get photos and videos, only hours after the activity is over. If you looking for an outdoor activity we would definitely recommend Papigo Adrenaline.

The best way to see some amazingly beautiful scenery. Fun and relaxing. The guide Yianni was great. The rafting outfit provided everything they came to our hotel to pick us up and dropped us off. Cleanest river in the world. Thank you for a great memory and thanks for the video and photos

An Amazing Experience!!!
Everything was perfect: the whole Papigo Adrenaline team, the organization, the fantastic river - the coldest and cleanest river in Greece, the ease of the route - perfect for those trying rafting for the first time, the spectacular scenery around every corner, and Andonis - our helmsman with his wonderful daughter.
It is an absolute pleasure! Andonis told us about the river, the history of the region, and just tales from the rafting world. A wonderful rafting excursion.
It's been a week now and I still remember with a smile and pleasure. Will definitely go again and will definitely contact Papigo Adrenaline again.
100% recommended.

Couldn’t be happier to do a rafting tour with Papigo! We chose from many companies in the region and were amazed by their professionality, kindness and disponibity since first call. The river had outstanding views and it was so much fun to go along the flow. We would go back without hesitation!
Perfect waters, organised beach with sunbeds, restaurant/bar. Has a private parking, ideal for kids. Also has a small pool for children.

Nice beach, 5eur per sunbed, 5eur for pool entry, but all is free if lunch is reserved in taverna for that day.
There is parts of the beach with natural share from olive trees where you can place personal sunbed.
Not good for small kids, rocky pebbles beach with deep entryway.
Would recommend

Great beach! Pictures are from September, we were lucky it wasn’t overcrowded like in full season.. . It’s not a sandy beach but the restaurants have some sort of carpets to make it easier to get in the water. Sun-beds are available at 5 euro/ person or you can get it for free with a minimum of 20 euro spent if you eat there. There are 3 places/restaurants on this beach. The bar at the end of the beach has some of the best cocktails on the island!

Nice but rocky beach. Nice waters. There are sunbeds if you want which are free is you eat in the taverna above. Friendly stuff.

The owner Nikos is such a great guy, he gave us the best table with the best spot.
, and he recommended us one of the most tastefull fish I've ever had, the octopus bourde was also great. All of the salads are good choice I highly recommend this place.

Wonderful organised beach with a nice bar and lots of facilities. Waters are crystal clear and the beach has big white pebbles.
The bar - restaurant is of course a bit overpriced.
You can park in the restaurant's parking. There is plenty of space. Try to get there early as it can get crowded. Safe for kids
Foteini Tsiakalou — Google review
Lovely beach with parasols and sunbeds, and nice taverna behind. Expensive day out as €25 for beds and parasol , and restaurant fairly expensive. Ample parking.
Lynne Humar — Google review
The beach is nice but not recommended.
The bars right above have closed the whole area with their own sunbeds, umbrellas.
15€ per set,(25€ high season) and drinks are not included.
Is not allowed for some reason to bring your own drinks and food.
Staff unhelpful and the owner very arrogant.
Tourist trap at least. They only want your money.
Small beach on the islet of Mourtemeno, reachable from Syvota via a walk through shallow water.
Excellent tiny beach that you can reach via boat or by foot crossing a water space not deep. I suggest to go in the afternoon so that you can enjoy the shadow of the islet's flora. Crystal-clear waters and beautiful surroundings.

Also overrated (as the blue lagoon). Water quality is for 2 stars actually but the scenery is beautiful, so it takes the 3rd star. I do not understand the hype for this beach. The aerial (processed?) photos which I am often seeing about this beach, does not seem to be the reality.

It is ok beach. We wisted on cloudy day so it's definitely different from pictures found online but still nice. We came there later afternoon so water at crossing was little dipper. Water is warm .

It is pretty fun to cross the sea to get there, otherwise the beach has pebbles, a coffee place on boat and goats visitors :) Worth a visit, but probably not for a whole day. Some walking is necessary, don’t forget your water shoes. In mid September wasn’t crowded at all.

An extraordinary beach that is definitely worth a visit.Water is cool enough and access is easy.
P.s.I cannot understand people rating this gem and other beaches by the criteria of how crowded it is.It is normal to expect many people on the beach during high season or if you get there late in the noon.

Perfect spot to visit. For walking through the narrow strait to the other side: take the sea-shoes with you. The sharp rocks might be too much for your feet
Nef Fen — Google review
Not for everyone. First you go downhill then through the shallow sea. No sunbeds and umbrellas, but shade can be found. You can reach the other beach through the woods. There are some old umbrellas and broken sunbeds, but they serve the purpose. The sea is shallow and warm. The second beach is more peaceful. If you bring your meal and eat near the woods, you might get a company, like we had.
Dragomir Papuca — Google review
Very unique beach. The small island is connected to the small beach of Bella Vraka and you can literaly walk over the shallows to the other side. Clear waters but no sand. This is a stony beach with small and big stones and rocks on the sides. The beach is not organized. There are no umbrellas, no sun beds, no beach bars. There is a boat bar tha visits sometimes the beach and you can buy a drink or snack. Caution for children. Only few spots with shoal water and stones. And of course the mascot of the island couldn't be better than some original wild goats comming from the woods trying to steal your food. A must visit place for casual travelers and adventurers.
Kyriakos Pan — Google review
Amazing place, especially for kids and families. Considering beach itself is smaller and not organised, what I found impressive is that there's even a floating boat that sells coffee, water and cool drinks, as well as local lifeguard stand.

Βeautiful beach with calm water without waves, especially for families with small children, you need to walk about 200 meters, it is worth visiting!
Aurel Merco — Google review
I'm not going to lie, I was expecting something much more exotic from the pictures. But the water is quite mehhh compared to other nearby beaches. The place is full of families. Which brings to a lot of agitation and noise, so is not a suitable place for absolute relaxation.
Marathias Beach, situated on the southwest coast of Corfu, is a stunning stretch of golden sand that spans approximately two kilometers. This Blue Flag-awarded beach is flanked by native forest and low sea cliffs, offering a picturesque setting for sunbathing and picnicking. The crystal-clear waters make it an ideal spot for water sports like windsurfing and kitesurfing.
Beautiful large sandy beach with calm wnd rather shallow water. Usualy there is a breeze but no trees and natural shadow

One of the best beaches in Corfu; One part is very uncrowded, is you want to chill and rest, and the other is very populated, if you want to have fun, play games, etc. Price is very good (7 eur for 2 sinners and 1 umbrella), the sand is wonderful, the water is warm and with a sandy bottom (no rocks). Everything is very clean, the shower has a good water pressure, there is very good Wi-Fi, if that matters. It is a must to visit while in Corfu.

Clean , long sandy beach. Not too many people, at least at the time of my visit. Places to eat. Decent road to come.
Agn? Agnieszka — Google review
Great beach with a lot of small restaurants and bars. You could use the sun beds that they provide for a small fee or take your own umbrella and put it in the free zone. The beach is wide and long which makes it less crowded than other on the island. It is only sand and the water is really nice and calm. Perfect for families with kids, even babies. There is a beach volleyball court in one part of the beach.

One word: AMAZING! You have sunbeds if you like but on the right side of the beach it's a nudist beach also, so if you like it you can relax there. There are not many people. The water is perfect, crystal clear, and shallow. All recommendations for this beach.

Beautiful beach with clean water. Water is a few degrees colder than on the other side of the island. Beach is long, wide, with lots of sun-beds. 2 sun-beds and umbrella are 10 EUR. There is a limited parking space, and the parking is full at 10-10.30h.

One of Corfu's best sandy beaches. Plenty of room for everyone. You can rent a sunbed and umbrella or put your towel down on the free zone. Sea lovely and clean, a must for visitor's to Corfu.

Very long beach, you can walk for miles. I visited in April and it was very quiet. They just started preparing for the season.
Strange phenomenon here, there's a stream, or actually two streams on this beach coming from a well (sweet water) crossing the beach right into the sea. If you're a hiker, you'll have to take off your shoes... Or get wet feet. Nice hiking area. Explore the paths going up from the beach into the mountains, sometimes not very easy to distinguish from the beach, but there are some.
Marianna Stavinga — Google review
A 3 km long sandy beach, with many chairs(7€/2pcs and umbrela), taverna’s for all the pockets, clear and warm water.
What do you want more?
La Cetate Hotel — Google review
We visited 10+ beaches on Corfu, including those accessible from the sea, and this one ended up as one of the absolute best. Soft sand and sea bottom, perfect sea temperature, little or no waves, great views in the southern part of the beach. The parking was super crowded and there were a couple of cars parked along the road and they actually blocked it. The little traffic jam was a bit uncomfortable, we had to back up to get out, but it was worth it nevertheless. One of our best days in Corfu 😍

Absolutely the best experience. We booked a trip to Blue Lagoon, the lady in the office in Boukari was very nice, patiently explained everything to us, showed us, answered all our questions. Unfortunately, we couldn't go on the day of the trip because of illness, so we went back to the office later and asked if we could go another day. Everything was possible, except they didn't have this particular trip on a day that suited us, so we could have gone on a bigger trip to Paxos without them charging us the difference in price. The trip itself was very well organized, they came for us on the minute exactly to the hotel, took us to the port. The whole trip was great! Everyone was nice, smiling. Amazing experience!

Was with Messonghi Travel Cruise for both the Blue Lagoon trip and Corfu by night trip. We bought the packages off Susanna and Rita, two very kind and uber friendly ladies selling the trips outside their small office in Moraitika.
The Blue Lagoon trip was an all day trip, so a small meal was included, and some Ouzo! The trip was broken up into a few main sights and stop offs. We originally were a little disheartened as the journey outwards was a bit long, and since we had a toddler with us it was hard work! But luckily enough that was as bad as it got, the cave was ok, but stopping off in the blue lagoon was great. I looked after the baby, but the wife had a great swim in the clear blue lagoon that was a lovely sight to see and was well worth the trip. Wifey was so happy after that, some brownie points for me........yeah!!!
Everyone in a good mood, we then went to a nice secluded beach which also had botanical garden to see. We just got something to eat at the small restaurant and chilled in the Greek sunshine. Nice.
We also stopped off on a small portal town on the Greek mainland which was nice, had a good hour to walk around, get some ice cream, and stretched the legs. (I cant remember if that stop was before or after the lagoon stop, heh my mind is getting old....)
The trip back to Moraitika was pleasant. A good day out, well worth doing.
Our second trip with this company was doing the Corfu by night trip. A late start, 4 in the afternoon, we got the boat to Corfu and the journey took about an hour and a bit. Nice trip, not too long with the toddler so very manageable. We were very surprised at how lovely Corfu was, we were not expecting such a lovely little town. Wife was happy with all the shops, while there was plenty to see and do in the 4 hours we had to wander around. Corfu is certainly a place to see with its little side streets and its historic old town. Got a little worried as we struggled a little to find our way back to the port in the dark but we did get there in the end. Another top class trip and was great to see the capital of the island in all its splendour and glory.
Two trips, nice memories, recommended.

Be careful,
We booked for today, and were warned that it would be windier than usual, but no worries about doing the whole cruise, so far no problems.
However, when we arrived in the morning for the excursion, we realised that we were going in the wrong direction. It took us 2 hours in the morning to arrive at a beach that had not been included in the trip.
We stayed on the beach for 10 minutes maximum. Then we were taken to the village of Gaios. We were supposed to stay there for 3 hours, but in the end we only stayed for 2.
We finally had to leave after these 2 hours and return to the base port. We didn't get to visit the caves that were advertised on the expedition and we didn't get to see the beautiful town of Lakka (I booked the expedition to visit this town).
Finally, it took us 3 hours to get back from Paxos to the base port! So we spent a whole day (9am to 6pm) doing 1/3 of the expedition.
And here's where Messonghi are swindlers: they told us that very morning that there would be no problems and that the excursion would go ahead normally. If I'd known, I'd never have gone! Of course, they say it's not their fault and are acting in bad faith.
I demand a full or partial refund. I await your reply, thanks.

I had one day trip with them when in Corfù, 15 days ago. It was probably the most well spent day of the week. A part from the caves visit (which is nothing really), then they go to a couple of nice beaches and to the blue lagoon, which is woderful. Capitan was a funny one, and also the other guys of the crew were very nice and gentle. I recommend this company a lot!

We had booked a trip to blue lagoon but as we wanted to pay by card we couldn't pay in the local on. To the credit of the company they were fine with it, they told us that on the day of the trip they would pick us up from our hotel and then take us to head office to pay by card.
They did exactly that. This was really helpful. I can't fault their customer service. I think they went about and beyond to make sure we had a stress free relaxing trip.
I would highly recommend messonghi travel centers for people. The prices are good and the trips they over are fantastic. I would have actually liked to have gone on more.

Butrint National Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Albania, is a remarkable olive-shaded site that houses Greek, Roman, and medieval remnants. The park's archaeological significance dates back to the Iron Age and offers an authentic experience with unrestricted access to the ruins. It features diverse points of interest from various historical periods including Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Venetian eras.
Interesting place to visit, and access to the site is pretty unrestricted allowing you to explore as much as you want. Even if you aren’t interested in archaeology the views are worth the entrance fee (1000 lek)
You can get a bus here from Ksamil (100 lek) or Sarande (150 lek). This runs hourly, leaving at xx:30 from both Sarande and Butrint.

Awesome place!
We went at about 10am to avoid the heat and also meant we were there without the crowds that appeared as we were leaving at about 12:30. Took us about an hour and a half to walk through the whole place, useful paper guide in English as well. Highly recommend making the journey out!

Very beautiful place to visit, the viator tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and shows you around, there are toilets at the start and top part of the trail. There are many ruins and beautiful scenery. There is a fair sized car park at the start of the trail which is opposite a lovely restaurant which provided lunch for our tour. The trails are not suitable for wheelchair users or those with impaired abilities.

Great place to visit and learn about history and coexistence. Well preserved!
Restrooms were well kept and clean. The only two things, in my opinion, that need to improve are the upgarde all signs to include more information and langauges. Also, the self-service for the prices that are charging needs to maintain the cleanliness of the place well. For the amount of what they they charge, this should be the minimal improvement.

This place is well worth a visit if you have any interest in history, archeology and/or culture. It's excavation has revealed an incredible progression through ancient Greek, Roman, Norman, Byzantine, Venetian and more civilisations in time. The additional construts are explained clearly in the different areas, and the learning and explanations of this has evolved and is also explained. The €10 in my perspective is well worth it, especially if you have traveled some distance to come to Albania.

The visit to Butrint National Archaeological Park truly stands out as a remarkable experience. Exploring this historical site offers a captivating journey back in time, allowing you to witness an array of ancient buildings and constructions that date back thousands of years. While the remains may not always be fully intact, they provide a fascinating glimpse into the lives of those who inhabited this area in ancient times. To truly appreciate Butrint, one must be prepared to engage their imagination and piece together the rich history from the fragments that remain.
What makes Butrint even more compelling is the tapestry of civilizations that have called this place home over the centuries. From the Romans and Byzantines to the Ottomans, the layers of history are palpable as you wander through this archaeological wonderland. It's a testament to the enduring significance of this site throughout the ages.
In terms of admission, the prices are reasonable, with a standard fee of 1,000 Lek (equivalent to 10 euros) per person. If you're traveling with a group of 12 or more people, you can enjoy a discounted rate of 800 Lek per person.
One of the park's standout features is its natural surroundings. The abundance of trees provides ample shade, making it a comfortable destination even on sunny days. This harmonious blend of history and nature creates a truly unique and awe-inspiring atmosphere that sets Butrint apart.
In conclusion, a visit to Butrint National Archaeological Park is a must for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. It offers a window into the past, allowing you to traverse the footsteps of ancient civilizations amidst the tranquility of nature. While you may need to engage your imagination to fill in the historical gaps, the experience is undeniably amazing and well worth the visit.

Stunning archaeological site with various different points of interest from various different points of history. Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Venetian. This is a must when in Albania.
The down point is it isn't very well signposted, so I would recommend trying to book a guided tour.
The real star of this place is the location. It's a lagoon meeting the sea through a narrow channel at the site, with the various colours of the water in different points backed by the mountains in the background.
5 stars alone for the site. But the natural beauty is phenomenal.

A chance to wander ancient ruins, almost by ourselves.
We visited on October 1st from 5-630pm. Outside of peak tourist season and during golden hour, this spot was perfect though we forgot to bring bug spray and the mosquitoes had their way with us.
It’s a beautiful and historic place that you can explore at your own pace. Fun to imagine the large city that existed for hundreds of years here.
The Lëkursi Castle and Restaurant is a historic site that boasts impressive circular towers, breathtaking panoramic vistas, and an expansive dining area. Visitors can enjoy the stunning decor and magnificent views while savoring delicious dishes from the restaurant's menu. While touring the castle, guests can also stop by the open eatery to grab some iced coffee for around 200 lek. It's a picturesque destination that offers both cultural intrigue and culinary delights.
We walked up from Sarande and we’re very glad that we did (although a bit of a hike, so may recommend driving if with small children etc.) The views are definitely worth it and although we didn’t stop for food/drink, the restaurant also looked lovely. You can get a 360 view of Corfu/Sarande and the valleys/coast - great for photos.

This place was amazing to visit. My partner and I got a taxi from town and the driver waited for us for 40 minutes and then drove us back into town. This cost us 20€ which was a great price to us.
The view is like nothing else. It's free to enter and look around, and there's a bar inside. They did food, but we only got coffees -- I had an iced latte while my partner had an iced cappucino. Had to wait a while because the machine had only just been turned on, but wasn't a problem as we just sat in the sun admiring the view. The only downside was that they only took cash and no card, and since we were visiting while on holiday in Corfu, we only had euros with us. This would have been more problematic had we bought a full meal, but luckily we only needed a small amount of cash for the coffees and they accepted euros. Deducting one star due to this as it was inconvenient. There's plenty of seating and the place was deserted except us and a couple doing a wedding photoshoot.
Would strongly recommend.

It was supposed to be a historical place, but it is modified completely in a restaurant. However, I went there in closing time so I cannot rate the dishes and services. Anyway, my 1 star is due to the monkey left alone in a cage. In Albania, I do not know if keeping wild tropical animal is allowed

Spectacular place at all times of day but best at sunsets. The 360 is just breathtaking from the mountain range north to the valley in the east the lagoon to the south and the sea and Corfu to the west. Its a small castle that has pretty much been turned into a restraunt. But you can also just get a drink and just enjoy the view.
The main way up via road is tarmacadam most of the way, but pity there is no obvious footpath up the western side.
Free entry too

We went at the start of May before the season started which luckily meant that the place when we visited was quiet. The castle offers an absolutely amazing view of Saranda. Highly recommended. I would have loved to have come at sunset. The entry is free. The road up there is steep and windy so I would recommend a car.

Quiet in the winter months but it's free which is a pleasant bonus. It's a nice walk up a narrow road off the main road. Plenty of parking places if you go by car. Some lovely views from the castle and there's a lighthouse on the way up and some old bunkers.

Great place to visit and have Saranda in the background with a glass of wine. Was nice to see traditional dancers and live music.
Unfortunately, the prices that they charge for the food quality need to improve. Most of our pasta and risoto dishes were overcooked. The raw seafood is not that fresh. At night, the high volume of the music doesn't let you enjoy the view or have a normal conversation with your companions.
The place also doesn't accept credit cards, only cash!

A beautiful view of the city and the sunset is the perfect moment to visit it.
If you would also do something special you can stay at the restaurant, but I personally wouldn't because of the high prices, down there like 2 minutes there is a restaurant much more convenient with good food.

The two stars is completely for the beauty of the place. However, the restaurant wasn’t operating even though it was during the working hours posted online. Service was nonexistent, actually one customer thought I was an employee because there literally wasn’t any one else in there but me… I would have loved to actually try the food. Unfortunately, they didn’t even have the chef in the restaurant.
Anyhow, the restaurant itself is beautiful and the views are amazing.

The restaurant wasn’t open when we came, but the view was amazing! Also lots of these small bunkers around, so pretty interning to see and also very good as a photo spot

A narrow but asphalt road leads to the top, there are several large parking lots along the way. You can easily cross it on foot. There is a beautiful castle at the top with an even more beautiful view. I recommend every vacationer visiting Sarande to pass this facility.

Amazing spot for sunset views and a nice dinner. We were surprised with how many tables there were, it’s a big terrace! We had the Lekuresit pasta and a sea fish dish. The prices are on the higher end compared to other Albanian restaurants. The only downside is that many people stay around the castle for pictures instead of eating, but the terrain is big enough with many different beautiful spots!

Absolutely the best place to visit in Sarandë and it's free! The castle itself is beautiful and romantic with absolutely stunning panoramic views. It would be nice to have a little information about the castle available.

A stunning location to eat and watch the sunset over the city. When I visited it was still spring, so no one was dining outside as it was chilly. I imagine this place is bustling over the summer months! We got some tea to take out of the restaurant, the guy working was v helpful. Can’t comment on the food as we didn’t eat.

Beautiful place to witness amazing sunsets.
It has perfect view of the city overlooking ocean.
The cafe is really cheap so you can buy some drinks and enjoy some amazing sunsets from this place.
The Cold War Tunnel in Gjirokastra is a fascinating underground network of bunkers and chambers built during the communist era. This massive bunker, with 80 rooms, was constructed secretly in the 1960s and remained unknown to locals until the 1990s. It was designed as an anti-atomic shelter for local authorities during potential nuclear attacks. The tunnel served as both a bunker and transportation route during the Cold War period.
Super nice tunnel. Be prepared, there is no conservation so it is now as they leave it years ago (without the furniture, they stole and destroy it). You have to pay 200lekes. A little bit more than 1 euro for the visit and the explanation. Is short but impressive. In case of strong rains there is a part that is not accesible.

Saw some negative reviews here in relation to the shortness of the tour, to be honest our experience was very different. The tour was very good, guide took his time to explain everything and we learned a lot. Excellent price also. Try it when you visit the city!

This 30 minute guided tour is absolutely worth its fee (200 Lek). Make sure to bring a jacket because the temperature in the tunnel is always 16 degrees Celsius (summer and winter). There is one tour every hour.

Although the gate was locked and unmanned so I was not able to enter, I still think it’s worth just taking your chances and finding that much. There are interesting historic photos hanging around the entrance and you can sit and have a coffee in a very pleasant and intriguing atmosphere while peering inside.

We were there recently. Our experience: we met the guide just outside the office (initially we didn't know if he was a real guide or a person just taking people in). He was the real guide.
Some comments say that the guides are rushed and do not explain anything. The visit was 20 minutes, the guide was not in a rush (we could take photos, see properly, etc.), he explained a few things and when asked explained even more things and knew quite well everything.

Every one need to visit this kind of place - all those who forget their past are condemned to relive it.
Not renovated like bunkers in Tirana, but definitely more scary.

Short nice tour. Our guide was super friendly and funny.
She told about the history and knows a lot.
Every 30 minutes there is tour and you can buy a ticket in front of the building.
Inside it's always 16°C, so that's really nice on a hot day.

Awesome underground bunker. It costs about 200lek per person but you cannot go in without a guide. You need to first go to the tourist info booth and pay the fee then you’ll get the guide. The guide will take you into the tunnel. The total tour takes less than 20 minutes. There isn’t too much to see in all the rooms, but it is still pretty cool to walk through the halls deep in the mountain right under the fort. Worth the visit!

15-20 mins. visit around a bunker. Interesting visit and stories around the construction of the building. Exactly the way they left it few decades ago. 200 Lekes/person. Very helpful the woman at the tourist office. Thanks!

It’s a 30 minute tour for 200 lek. The tour take place very 30 minutes. I though it was worth it. Not too long, not too short and you get a perfect summary. Maybe bring a sweater or jacket because it’s pretty cold inside.

Interesting tour through the abandoned cold war shelters. Most rooms are empty, so hopefully in the future the town will make an effort to decorate the rooms and bring back the original atmosphere.
Note: tours are only every 30 minutes and the entrance is relatively hard to find. You need to wait for the tour guide at the tourist office sign in front of the building.

We found the Cold War tunnel tour super interesting and insightful of the communist era.
Our guide Olsi was very knowledgeable and spent almost an hour explaining the detail and taking us through the different rooms.
We heard the previous guide had limited English which could explain some of the reviews, but that has since changed.
Would highly recommend this tour if you are in town.

The Cold War Museum in Gjirokaster offers a fascinating glimpse into Albania's complex history during the Cold War era. While it provides valuable insights into the end of communism, my visit left me with mixed feelings.
The museum is undoubtedly a nice experience, particularly for history enthusiasts. It sheds light on a critical period when Albania transitioned from communism to a more open society. However, my expectations were set high, and I couldn't help but wish for a more comprehensive exploration of the subject matter.
One highlight of the museum is the bunker, which stands as a tangible relic of the Cold War era. Its architecture and purpose provide a chilling reminder of the tensions that once gripped the world. Exploring this bunker is a truly unique experience that makes the visit worthwhile.
The guide's knowledge and friendliness greatly enhance the visit. Their insights and anecdotes added depth to the exhibits, helping visitors to connect with the history on a more personal level.
In terms of affordability, the entrance fee is reasonable, offering two payment options: 200 LEK or 2 euros, catering to both local and international visitors.
In summary, the Cold War Museum in Gjirokaster is a nice experience, with valuable historical information and a captivating bunker. While it left me wanting a bit more in terms of depth, the knowledgeable guide and affordable admission options make it a worthwhile visit for anyone interested in Albania's Cold War history.

This was a very interesting place to visit, definitely a must to understand the history of Albania during communist times. It gives you a small snapshot of Hoxha’s paranoia. The guide was really good & definitely made it very enjoyable!

I genuinely loved it because of the nice guide. The tour took around 45 minutes, was fair priced and it was super interesting.
It's just a little cold down there, so take a sweater ;) and I'm not sure if there are bathrooms?
We had to wait because the tour starts every full hour :)

It's amazing, I highly recomend to visit this place! Spoiler: I haven't been in Tirana's tunnels yet.
The entering to the tunnels is every hour. I was lucky and I was alone with the guide in the tunnels (December season). Normaly it doesn't take more than 30 minutes, even through me and the guide, we spent there the entire hour chating about various stuff.
The entrance fee is 2€ / 200 leke. The guide speaks English and he will inform you about the tunnels in more details.
It might be quite tough for people with claustropfoby or other phobias.
Enjoy your stay in this beautiful city!
