Incredible how they builded this church from the ground up. Very nice inside and out. I just took my time inside the service area by seating at the back of the room and dwell on the scenery.
Chris Sirinop — Google review
Beautiful setting. The chapel in the grotto under the church is fascinating, but inaccessible with Covid-19 protocols in place. The capacity in the main church is limited to 30 and opens every 30 minutes for people to view. You are only able to walk into the main church at this time under these limited conditions. Masks are required the entire time.

Really worth a visit.. And it's free to go in. Fantastic chapel. Quite a few steps and a little climb but worth it.

Amazing and historical site in Soria. Read the story in the vitro window about the boy that fell and was unharmed thank to the saint's protection
Martin Ochoa — Google review
Amazing place, well worth a visit.
Note there is a car park on the opposite bank just past the public laundry, then it's a shorter walk over the foot bridge.
It was free entry the day we visited.
Simon Redston — Google review
This was great. There is a parking lot. You can go for great walks along the river from there.
Beware that you cross a bridge and from there you walk up stairs and stairs. I am still using crutches to walk after a broken ankle. I could manage, but a week earlier I would not have been able to.
It is hard to believe someone decided to build on a rock cliff. There is a service road but I still cannot imagine how it was done.
You enter a cave type area and keep taking stairs. One room is depicted as the 'sala de vida' with a monk at a table set out with furnishings. At the top there is a vista. I think it was 2€.
Definitely worth the visit. I am not sure where else on earth this type of construction exists.

Nice environment to take a walk.
goguitas — Google review
Its beautiful but there is no view from inside at all. The entrance is free so you can donate for conservation. There are 2 ways to get there: on the train or on foot. Its nor far from the centre, just 30 mins walking.
Monasterio de San Juan de Duero is a 12th-century Romanesque monastery located along the Douro River. It showcases Medieval Christian and Romanesque architecture, with influences from Jewish, Islamic, and Christian cultures. Visitors can admire Gothic and Mudejar arches as well as intricate detailing inside the monastery.
This was fantastic. 1€ entry. From the reviews I was confused so confirm for others that the Monesterio and the Arcos are one in the same.
There is a parking lot on site. Entrance through a gate. You walk around the arches and enter the monetary which has a video that is a must see from start to finish to understand the location where you are and the region of Soria.
It is in Spanish but all visuals so you get the gist.
Karen Decter — Google review
Not a lot to see, but it is interesting, quick and inexpensive (1E each). Covid protocols are in place, including limited capacity to 10 person's at a time, hand sanitizer use before entry and masks required at all times.

Very small church, no museum inside. Check opening hours. There are ruins of a castle a cross the river. Parking is good. Only one restaurant near by. Most of the restaurants near downtown.

Ancient Ruins
Archaeological site & remains of an ancient Iron Age & Roman city, with guided tours offered.
Students (including graduate students) get in free. Wheelchair accessible parking and gift shop, but the archeological area itself is not completely wheelchair friendly. The reconstructed buildings are extremely well done, and the audio guide (your cellphone with your data plan + their free 3.5 jack earphones) was informative (English, French and Spanish - maybe others). The vistas from the area are really beautiful. The lady in the gift shop is very friendly and kind, but speaks limited English. However, she understood my broken Spanish really well! The gift shop had a nice assortment of souvenirs from 2€ for some pendants and bracelets to €€€ for a period outfit (armor, shield, etc). I think all the magazines, books, and comic books were in Spanish. The post card selection was a little limited, but overall, there was something for everyone and for every age.
Due to Covid-19, the tour guide is not working. I hear he's fantastic. I think there is a little snack kiosk in normal times, but with Covid-19 that building was closed.
It was super windy and the wind was bitterly cold, so my host and friend were not as slow to read the plaques describing the different areas as I was, consequently, I skipped and skimmed them. They happen to be in Spanish, but if you have the audio guide you don't need to read them. Personally, I like reading them.
I don't know if any buses go there from Soria, but it's worth a visit. I'm not sure if picnics are allowed, but the hill would be great for a picnic. The little village/hamlet at the foot of the hill has a couple of places to eat, and even a little hotel. After Covid-19 hitchhiking would probably work to get to/from Soria and the archeological site. It's not far from Soria.

Very informative and we'll restored. It's a pity some of the more interesting artifacts have been taken to Soria

Interesting site, but what made my day was an AMAZING guide. Unfortunately I don't remember her name, but she really made history come to life.

Great audio guide and interesting recreated houses you can go in and see how they were distributed and tools they used, etc. Great gift shop and discounted prices for children and teachers. A bit exposed, not much shade.

Numancia is the true story of the Spanish equivalent of Asterix the Gaul.
A great place to inspire adults and children.
Tremendous story and a landscape to inspire and you have easy access to services in nearby Garray.
Well worth a visit or two.

Really interesting visit. Audio guide in other languages is free. Worth visiting the museum in Soria that features some amazing relics and history of the Celtiberians.... plenty of information boards in English.
Bob and Paula Ashworth — Google review
The amazing history of this Iberean Celtic town resisting the Roman occupation is what makes this historic site very special.
Unfortunately the English audio guided tour is not that great, but the reconstruction of both a Roman and a Celtic house, made this visit extra special.

Monasterio de Veruela is a stunning 12th-century Cistercian monastery located in a picturesque countryside, about 14km south of Tarazona. The well-preserved monastery features vaulted tombs, passages, and original wall decorations. Visitors can explore the beautiful church and also visit the onsite wine museum with the same ticket. The entrance fee is only 1.80 euros for adults, making it an affordable yet breathtaking experience.
Awesome. Cool and amazing! For that price - wow. I was expecting way less from that.

Worth a visit. There is a wine shop. There were wine tasting facilities but we were told that they don't do wine tastings? Very disappointing

Cathedral Santa Maria de la Huerta is a stunning Gothic cathedral with Mudéjar and Renaissance influences. The Diocesan Museum inside the Catedral de San Pedro houses a remarkable collection of Romanesque and Gothic art. After undergoing restoration, the cathedral now offers an impressive experience both inside and out. Visitors can also take a guided tour to learn about its history and contribute to its ongoing restoration efforts. The cathedral's tower provides a great vantage point for panoramic views of the city.
A must do in Tarazona. Visit the cathedral and also you have the opportunity to go up the tower, cimborrio, and have an amazing view of the town. Good guides and organization.
Estefania Led — Google review
A must do in the area. The recently restored cathedral was in the verge of succumb a few years ago. Now, still under restoration, you can enjoy the main cathedral as well as tower with great view of the city. The guided tour is really enjoyable and contributes to the restoration of the cathedral
(Translated by Google) Spectacular as it has been with the restoration. The price of the visit is €5, + €2 if you take an audio guide. It is very worth it, whether you like the culture or it is not impressive. There is much to see and time to spend. The outside is just as impressive as the inside.

A not-particularly-enjoyable dinosaur theme park. Any links with the genuine dinosaur footprints, which are five minute's drive away at the Icnitas De Enciso, are tenuous to say the least - the "museum" here is a real afterthought. If you want to actually find out about the dinosaur footprints, go to the Centro Paleontológico de Enciso in town instead. The food was mediocre at best - bagged salad with tasteless tomatoes in Spain should be a crime - and overpriced. We only came here to eat because the restaurant in the Posada Santa Rita in town was full, so unless you actively want to come here make sure you book at the posada before coming to Enciso. The staff looked like they'd rather be anywhere else. We did see kids enjoying themselves in the pools, but that was about it.

Great tour with a lot of good information! It’s not overdone and you have time to see the things you want to. The organ at the end was the best part!

In my experience it is a beautiful place in which you can learn the history about the monks and how they lived in the past.
In the tourist office they take care of you very well and also they explain everything you need. But in my opinion if you go with children they are not going to understand some words. However I highly recommed visiting the monastery of Fitero.

(Translated by Google) Very interesting guided tour where we toured the different areas of the convent: church, chapels of the ambulatory, sacristy, cloister, we also went up to the top. Thanks to a computer application we were even able to listen to the organ. From the outside it is difficult to see the complex because houses have been built, but from the apse square there is a good view of the header.

Visita guiada muy interesante donde fuimos recorriendo los distintos recintos del convento: iglesia, capillas de la girola, sacristía, claustro, subimos también a la parte superior. Both for the Monastery itself and for the guided tour, 100x100 recommended.

Encarna left the finishing touch of the visit for last, which I will not reveal so that you can visit it, it is worth it.

Good place to spend a day with children. If your children like animals, they will have a wide variety of animals to see. The rides are fun, and here I mention the Bobsleigh, the tubing and the self drive boats. On the negative side, this Parc is huge and there are large distances to be covered. If you are with small children, they will get tired pretty fast. The day we went it was very crowded too, so there was a lot of queueing up to get to the rides, anywhere from 15 minutes to almost an hour for the bobsleigh. Parking is free but quite far away, if you want to park closer to the Parc, you pay 9 euros for a day in a parking place that is not only nearer to the entrance but your car is also protected from the sun.

Sendaviva is a great place to spend the day with your kids. It's very family friendly and perfect for younger children. Kids over 10 would probably get bored pretty quickly. I didn't see any of the shows. It was a hot sunny day, so all of the water attractions were really popular. The prices were pretty fair in comparison with other amusement park type places. There was really only one main eating place which was decent. The only real complaint (and reason for the 4 stars) was the lack of staff. The ice cream/slushy station had a really long line and the poor guy working had a lot of grumpy people to deal with. There was like one person working each attraction and most of the workers seemed less than thrilled to be there. That being said, the bumper boats guy was great! We will definitely go back again. But maybe in the fall when it won't be meltingly hot.

Bardenas Reales is a vast desert region known for its soaring canyons, sandstone cliffs, and rocky outcrops. The Hotel Aire de Bardenas offers a unique stay with its modernist design rising unexpectedly from the rocky earth at the border of the desert. Visitors can explore the area by car, quad, or enduro bikes but should be cautious as some parts are challenging to navigate.

It is a small castle, there is really not much inside. Church was small, but nice, entrance is free. To turn on the lights in the church you need to drop a euro. Parking is a bit confusing and be careful driving on tiny streets. It is a small town and besides the castle/church there is not much to visit. If you want a see a town that has a feel of "old" Spain, it is worth visit.

Beautiful views to and from the monument from many kilometers around. It has the most richly decorated Gothic façade in the Foral Community of Navarra. A pleasant surprise along the way.

Me encanta ésta mezcla de iglesia y castillo, aunque soy más de lo segundo. Recinto del siglo XI sobre un templo prerrománico existente anteriormente. (Translated by Google) Small village full of charm, very cute and relaxing with its dominating Church. The village and its church are well worth a look. Besides, at the top of the church you can find a super nice little place which offers a very beautiful view with orientation maps.
Just a piece of advice, park at the foot of the village, do not try to go up to the heart of the village by car because the streets are very narrow and sometimes it is impossible to turn around. An SUV does not pass or passes with great difficulty.

(Translated by Google) Ujué is a beautiful medieval town perched on top of a plateau. When we begin to ascend to the town it seems that everything is very close, but you have to go up and up until you reach the foot of these walls through its narrow streets and steep slopes, but it is worth it.
At the top, Santa María de Ujué welcomes us, the fortress church of Santa María S.XI-XII-XIV, a national monument and one of the most important manifestations of medieval architecture in Navarra. Currently, two towers remain, Cuatro Vientos and Picos, which look more like a fortress than a sanctuary.
One of the jewels of the church of Santa María is the South Door, from the 14th century. One of the best works of Navarrese Gothic.
Inside, a Gothic lattice separates the Romanesque chevet from the Gothic-style central nave. In the central apse, the image of Santa María de Ujué is preserved, it is one of the oldest Romanesque images in Navarra. (1190)
The image of the Virgin of Ujué is a unique carving made of wood around 1190.

Great canyon, busy but easily accessible and not over commercialised. Great spot to look down into the canyon, and to look up to the many vulture colonies.

A new ce walk along the old electric train route. There were
Many cultures and Kites in the area. We took the circuit track, but the first half was a bit average as we toured a barren roads and paddocks. Definitely worth doing the river and gorge section. The devils bridge was cool, as were the train tunnels and river. Definitely worth seeing

This is an amazing place. We were here between 16:00 and sunset and then the light was fantastic. There are many vultures flying on and off. An old train-track with some tunnels leads you through the canyon. Make sure to bring your binoculars.

A singularly beautiful place, if only people would not bring their marauding, screaming kids and turn it into a Disney type environment. But that's how it is generally in España.... kids rule and their parents only hear their own incessant chatter.... but still worth visiting, preferably avoiding weekends and holidays....

Interesting old Abbaye up on the hill. Don’t be surprised by the narrow road up it’s well made just a bit small and longer than you think from the road. Facilities are limited if you are looking for food and drink and when we were there the new(?) toilet block was closed and those in the bar are a bit basic.

The Monumento al Encierro is a bronze sculpture created by Rafael Huerta that commemorates the annual bull run in Pamplona, Spain. The monument depicts participants in the event, including many young men who appear to be vulnerable at the feet of the bulls. Although it captures the moment well, one hopes that the actual event is not as dangerous as it appears in this artwork. It is interesting to note that there are no brave young women depicted taking part in the bull run.
A great statue depicting the running of the bulls during the San Fermin festival every July. As someone who has done it, the statue offers a great view of how it looks. The only things missing are the sounds of the bulls and the cheers from the crowds!

Raul El Australiano — Google review
We went there for the running of the bulls opening ceremony. WOW awesome experience! I would love to go back. Pamplona is such a nice little town, with tiny narrow streets, easy to get lost, which makes you see even more of it! Definitely worth going!
David Doherty — Google review
Bit crowded as I visited during San Fermin. But overall, it's a nice place to click pics with bulls' sculpture.
ankur kumar — Google review
This famous sculpture made by artist Rafael Huerta of Bilbao is a sight to see.
Encierro literally means confinement in Spanish which is what happens before the bulls (fighting and castrated ones depicted here) run with willing people. The humans are hoping not to be pinned or hurt by the bulls.
Mind you, I do not condone this part of my Spanish heritage as it is a form of animal cruelty which has gained much ridicule from all over the world. While spending time looking at this massive installation made of bronze just this last June, I noticed a side of it that shows the power of the bull and the fear in man.
It is along the street aptly placed facing the arena where bullfighting occurs, free for anyone to look at.
I hope the pictures I took do it justice and I hope people see what I saw.
Cristina Olano — Google review
Excellent artwork even if you don't approve of the bull running.
Kim McNeill — Google review
A great monument to a crazy tradition it captures the moment but by the look of the monument there seems to be a high number of vulnerable young men at the feet of the bulls. I hope it's not as bad as it looks. By the way are there no brave young ladies that also take the plunge here.
Joe Catersales — Google review

The Pamplona Catedral Hotel is a sleek and modern hotel in converted 19th century convent. It offers a restaurant and trendy bar, perched atop the edge of the old town where the famous Camino de Santiago leaves the city.
The best. Beautiful. Excellent bath to soak in. Centrally located in the city, near sightseeing area. Beds were perfect. Super clean. Friendly staff.

The hotel is located in the middle of the old town and garage parking is available. The hotel is clean and staffing was very friendly. The rooms were a bid dark. Some improvement could be done to give it a brighter and friendlier touch. Also a coffee machine and a bottle of water in the room would have been nice.

One of the best hotels I’ve ever been in. The design of the rooms, lobby and restaurant is stunning. Extremely friendly staff, showed us the best route through the city and answered all our questions. Breakfast was delicious and varied and the restaurant is excellent. Location is also really good, amazing views. It’s right next to the archives and the beautiful city wall. It was a flawless stay.

This hotel is close to town, and walking distance to everything. The view from our room was incredible, and the windows opening was a plus. The curtains served their purpose (thankfully as there is a beautiful wall of windows. The hotel has been somewhat updated, with a few original pieces remaining. Bring your USB chargers as they’re not in the wall. The staff were incredibly kind.

So noisy - there's a school nearby. No air conditioning when we were there - not sure if it's only available in summer season. To take a nap had to choose from hot or noisy! Nice small rooms, though! They have a nice rooftop bar, although just checked out the views!

Seems rather empty and the staff was anxious to take great care of us. Beds wonderful, view nice, room very clean, shampoo, bath gel, hand soap nice quality in largish refillable bottles. Elevators confusing but fine. Our fridge didn't work & they brought another. Interesting that on the street, recycling is everywhere, but in hotel, not possible. Big fluffy towels. Location was close to many things but on edge of old Town so was quiet.

A dog friendly hotel, near a dog park and lots of walk areas. The people are very helpful, they have lots of ideas to share and you pick what seems more appealing. Good sized room (suite) and I liked the entrance area with multiple areas. They park your car so less issues dealing with parking. Tried the terrace restaurant and would go back. Ask the receptionist about the hours as they are open Sundays too. Highly recommended

Stayed in this hotel two nights ago and booked via their website directly.
The hotel is not a 4* as it does not have the amenities ( no kettle, Tv is tiny, cloakroom too small, no extra pillows or blankets, safe not working )
It would appear that the website was not functioned properly and the booking was done on the wrong day. Upon arrival the receptionist informed me that the booking was for the day before and that rooms were available for tonight. We kindly asked if we could have a refund for the room as we and they didn’t really know whose mistake it was.
The manager refused to refund the room booked, refused to refund the breakfast, refused to refund the parking, refund to refund the pet fee. Very unfriendly place I would avoid and not recommend

I absolutely loved our two night stay here.
The hotel was beautiful and serene, while being just steps from the bustling nightlife of pamplona, and the ancient high city walls lined by park.
The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to assure that every guests needs are accomodated. I am very grateful to one "standout", especially. A handsome young man named Alejandro made our weekend complete. I wont list the ways that he helped us, but rest assured that you are in good hands, when Alejandro is taking care of you!

The lobby was cold and a bit deteriorated. The rooms are very dark and our hallway had a door in between that made it very cold. I inquire if they were able to give me any compliments after listening the receptionist offer an upgrade to another guest. She stated she can’t and she didn’t want to. I think this very bad customer service.

High-quality public albergue in most aspects. The Dutch church volunteers are kind but a bit like the boot camp drill sergeants, especially on assigning the beds - strictly sequential, no consideration whatsoever of the gender, couple, or groups. Third weeks into offseason camino albergues and mostly flexible bed assignment, I was first surprised and even little annoyed by their attitude/behavior, but now think that may be a good thing for setting the mood for the whole camino journey haha

Wonderful monument of Navarese medieval culture and architecture of XIV century. Don't forget to visit the cloister where you are going to find the tomb of Navarese Knight Enel Omorio who died in 1393. Through the cloister you can get in to the Chapel where the Royal Navarese Mausoleum is and where you are going to find the tomb of King Sancho VII of Navarre who totally crashed Moors at famous battle of Las Navas de Tolosa. King was the real giant two meters and seven centimeters tall. So, entire complex is one of the greatest national monuments of the Kingdom of Navarre. There is also small museum dedicated to medieval Navarese culture where you can find two maces of beginning of XIII century. Alas! This part of the Kingdom of Navarre was conquered and annexed by the Kingdom of Aragon in 1512.

Additionally, visitors can enjoy a stunning lookout point and take peaceful walks in the surrounding natural beauty. Super nice view, that’s all as this s mostly a lil park for kids to run around. The funicular isn’t worth the >1 hour wait but I insisted as I thought I d be able to enjoy the ride, I was wrong. Overall attractions aren’t attractive, and the only hotel restaurant to avoid. There is though a lil bar on the side selling refreshments at half of the prices and queue, if needed rather go there. I mean, it’s a must go but you may be disappointed

*showers and footwash stations
*benches and rentable chairs/umbrellas

Gorgeous beach in Donostia!! The tide makes a big difference in how much of the beach is exposed. There is almost none available at low tide! There are a bunch of staircases down to the beach, lots of benches and a nice (well-lit) side walk to walk alone the cove from the street level. The beach offers great views of the hills, the water, the sailboats and the row of buildings behind. Don't forget to spend some time just taking it all in!

Beautiful sandy beach! Enjoyed it for the day and it weren’t too busy! Lost myself to the noose of crashing waves and sun on my face! A highlight of SB for me for sure

As a beautiful beach. . La Concha beach... Concha is in spanish language, means is seashell as similarity of the shape. As famous beach, many people enjoy the beach, you can just seat on park bench with the beach view or taking a stroll or do sport. Alongside the fine golden sand with its lenght more than 1.300 metres makes perfect beach for barefoot walk. It is also well-equipped and offers all sorts of services such as toilet, locker & changing room, and lifeguards if summer.

I had a very nice experience, even the beach was full of people if you walk further away you can find empty spots where you can be comfortably. The beach was clean barely seen any trash. Great for family’s, couples, at sunset time i saw people walking with their dogs also. ( dog friendly beach)

Somewhat crowded when it's sunny and warm but considering it's in the city center. Beautiful view of the harbour, Santa Clara Island. The water is clean and not as cold as expected from the Atlantic Ocean. There are changing rooms free of charge under the board walk. Plenty of bars and restaurants.

Probably one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever been to. We were there in October, the weather was perfect - chilly enough to wear a windbreaker, and warm enough at times to have a t-shirt on. The beach is shaped like a crescent moon, and it literally feels like you're walking on a postcard. The waves were super tiny, given the position of the coastline, so walking right up to the water line with your shoes isn't a problem. If you visit this city, then you'll surely go to this beach - it's a hot spot for tourists.

Beautiful crystal clear water much better than on the Mediterranean side.
The beach is good, it's an ideal place for a swim, no wonder why thousands of people everyday here. And there are cafés, restaurants up on the street and a shady place you can sit just under the stair looking over the beach.

what a beautiful beach. lovely yellow sand. Quiet busy but not congested. I had a great time paddling. A mix of ages and genders.

A nice beach in one of the most beautiful cities in Spain and Europe in general. Great place to get away and have a relaxing time laying on the sand, enjoying the sun and the spectacular view. The water is a little cold though. An excellent option if you’re visiting Donostia. Highly recommended!
Urgull is a historic military site turned lush green paradise, known as one of the three lungs of the city with panoramic ocean and city views. Visitors can explore winding paths, hidden staircases, overgrown statues and remnants of mosaic tile floors surrounded by nature. The highlight is the impressive Christ statue which offers stunning Instagram-worthy views. A light walk to reach it takes visitors through crowded areas with a halfway bar offering nice views. Sturdy shoes and water are recommended for this journey.
I’d recommend hiking around sunrise.. Went in the winter and it was beautiful and warm in the sun.

A nice walk to the top with an amazing view of the city, especially on a clear day. We started our walk from the city centre and then went down on the other side. We were completely lost. We ended up in the port area, and it wasn't too easy to find out way back. You know the streets are crazy and nothing east/west, north/south. Always on a diagonal or curving. A taxi ride back to our starting point saved us. Always an adventure!

Magical place with winding pathways, hidden staircases, overgrown statues, and remnants of mosaic tile floors being taken back by nature. It's about the journey and not the destination. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water.

Beautiful scenic view from the top. Worth the relatively quick walk. You don't need hiking shoes but flip flops won't do. You could probably summit in 30-40 minutes, but I'd suggest a leisurely hour each way.

Fantastic panoramic views of the city. A must see on your first visit. Try to climb on a clear, sunny day to best experience it all. You would be mad to not enjoy a beverage on top!

You can take a light walk and get up to the monument of Jesus Crist. There is a bar half way, with a nice view. Take into account that it is crowded.
Celeste Lorenzin — Google review
Stiff walk to the top and worth the effort. Lovely view to the island in the middle of the bay, to Monte Igueldo (a nicer walk than the funicular on the other side of the bay) and across the town
David Crowe — Google review
If you are in the city for a couple days make sure you go there and enjoy beautiful views of the city, sea and the mountains. You can easily rest and sunbathe but dont forget to take some water with you before climbing!

20003 Donostia-San Sebastian, Gipuzkoa, Spain
I'll never travel to San Sebastian - Donostia without this trip planner again
The historic quarter of Donostia-San Sebastian, known as Old Town, is a vibrant area with numerous tapas and pintxo bars lining its narrow streets. This lively neighborhood is flanked by the Urumea River, Mount Urgull, and Concha Bay. The Plaza de la Constitución is at the heart of this district, which was once a bullring and now hosts the Tamborrada drum festival.
Early 1900s cog railway to a summit with views of the Basque Country, the coast & the Pyrenees.
Beautiful rack and pinion train up the mountain with lovely scenery on the journey. The views from the top were breathtaking and we were pleasantly surprised that bar prices were very reasonable.
Admired those that chose to walk or cycle up the mountain.
Elizabeth Hunt — Google review
The climb and descend has beautiful views, even if the top is covered in clouds. You'll see valley's and wildlife.
Ascending and deceding are booked together, departure 2h apart. Ride itself takes 35minutes. At the top, there's a restaurant and souvenir shop.
The experience is definitely to be rated high. But the relatively high cost will make you consider doing the trajectory by hiking (though hiking is though, very time consuming and not for kids).
Jan Van der Velpen — Google review
Amazing view.. Got there by train and walking down slowly. It took 2 hours and a half to get back to parking. Roads are rough and little slippery, because of dry sand on rocks.. I recommend to wear proper shoes for hiking.

Train Ride up the mountain called la Rhune.
Ended up on top in Spain! It's the Pyrenees.
A lot of clouds somewhat put a damper on the experience.
The train itself had open carriages with some kind of curtains in case of rain.
Fairly steep ascent, so try to sit looking forward on the way up.
It was nonetheless a fun activity with a restaurant and ubiquitous souvenir shop at the summit.

Well worth doing g this great trip up the mountain. The train itself was fascinating- wonderful feat of old engineering. Try to go up on a clear day for the best view but the scenery is so beautiful on the way up and down you won't be disappointed whenever you go. The dogs loved it too.

The 30 min train journey gave us a fantastic opportunity to tackle a long, arduous climb to the top of de La Rhune, saving energy to descend from the top and hike all the way to Biarriatu. The old, but well preserved cog train wove up and down the mountain side until we reached the very top to enjoy spectacular views. There are a couple of restaurants and cafes to sit down and relax and you have one whole hour to do so before the departure back. However, you can also choose to hike back to the village of Sare or just like us, descend to Biarriatu, a lovely village, the other side of the mountain. It's easier to book the train fare online (€22 per person for a return ticket. Sadly, they don't sell single fares in case you decide to hike down like us). Booking online also saves you time queueing to buy one at the train station.

Great views of the surrounding area with a few places at the top to get something to eat or drink. It helps if you have a head for heights as some sections are quite steep and some hair raising drops. Once you have your ticket they like you to wait 15 to 20 minutes before the train pulls into the station. Benches are provided and toilets are available.

GREAT afternoon out..train journey about 35 mins. Fun ride up in the mountains and the view at the top is fabulous. You need to book as it is busy,a little less so later in the day.

A wonderful drive up from Saint Jean de Luz.
Was €19 per Adult return.
It's a long way up so a return is good.
Was a lovely old train that pulled us up the mountain took Judy over half an hour.
What amazing views on the way up and at the top.
Would definitely recommend going on this ride.😃

Take very seriously the cautions about the mobility needed to get out and wander at the top of the mountain. There is a climb of easily six flights up to do via steep ramp or steps with a low handrail to get to the higher viewing point. That said, staff confirm that you can ride up, stay on the train and enjoy the view (or poetic cloud mass) until the train goes back down. Still so worth doing!

A slow paced 'cog and pinion little train' to the summit of the Rhune mountain.
Beware the parking is very busy so best to park your car in one of the 2 unofficial carpark that you arrive at before the main carpark if you are on a later train. The trains start at 8.30am so the main carpark fills up very quickly.
There is a free toilet at the bottom station, a cafe and restaurant at the summit (toilets are €0.50) which does a fantastic hot chocolate, plus a souvenir shop.
Entertainment was local traditional music on the day we went. Unfortunately the mountain was in the cloud the day we visited so we couldn't see the exceptional panorama but it was still worth the trip.
The summit can be chilly, as can the carriages as they have open windows, so be sure to take waterproof coats and a jumper. If it rains you will get wet. Although we were in the cloud, we didn't really get wet, just damp, so it's only a problem if it actually rains.
After your journey there is a takeaway food point plus a restaurant a little further up the road and a large souvenir shop as well.

Great ride lovely views. Be sure to pick a clear day. The ride up takes about 45 minutes I think. The are lovely views all the way up and if you are lucky you will see wild life especially birds like the vulture which was hanging about when we were there. There are two residents and bars at the to with a tourist shop. Decent food given the place not too expensive.

An absolute must in your trip to this part of France, in the Basque Country. An amazing experience. This little cozy train that is coming from other times is taking you to the top of the mountain. The view is breathtaking. You witness the splendor of nature and landscape all the way.
The train is very well maintained, clean, shiny, cozy and safe. Perfect organization of the team along the way, to keep passengers safe and enjoy a beautiful experience.
I recommend booking the tickets online, in advance and be there earlier as parking can be an issue in a busy day.
The Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste is a Roman Catholic place of worship that dates back to the 1400s. It boasts an elaborate altarpiece and a nave with galleries. This grand temple is located in the Basque region of France and stands out as the largest one in this area. On June 9, 1660, King Louis XIV of France and Navarra married Mary Theresa of Spain here.
The Church of John the Baptist (Saint- Jean-Baptiste), where June 9, 1660 Louis XIV, king of France and Navarra, (grandson of Henry IV) married Mary Theresa of Spain. This is the largest temple in the Basque part of France. It's a very exciting feeling to study history in this way

Interesting church. The boat hung from the ceiling signifies relationship of the church and town with the sea. The balconies were for the men to use. The women were on the ground floor where they were closest to the graves in the floor which were there responsibility. This is a typical Basque arrangement. Very special place. With at least a quick visit fur the atmosphere.

If you visit Saint-jean-de-luz when you go to the beach in the bay, keep walking north and visit this beautiful park at Pointe de Saint-Barbe, with the best views of all the bay and the stratified rocks on the ocean shore. Pssst… try to get there for lunch time and enjoy a great meal at Le Spot, a hidden gem!
