Archaeological Site of Olympia, a renowned historical location situated in Greece at the base of Kronion hill and surrounded by pine trees, is recognized as the birthplace of the ancient Olympic Games. The games were held here for over 1000 years until Emperor Theodosius banned them in AD 393. Despite being destroyed by several earthquakes and orders from Theodosius II, enough remnants remain to offer visitors an idea of its past grandeur.
Magical place , full of history and ruins ,indicating importance of sport during antiquity. Man used to practice sport naked on the Olympic stadium and their winning trophy was olives leaf and head band.

With all of the history this is an interesting place to explore. It was larger than I expected but an easy level walk throughout. The stadium was impressive from its size and the overall history. The view from the upper sides near the entrance gives a good view of its scale. The museum is definitely worth the time with some important bronze works.
Jeff Greene — Google review
The site of the Olympic Game athletes in ancient Greece is packed with some of the most interesting ruins: the Temple of Zeus, the Gymnasium, the Stadium, the Temple of Hera, the column of Nike, and many others. The site was functional until 500AD and has one of the oldest catholic churches on record, built in 200AD. Tickets are better bought in advance online, and the museum hosts some of the finer findings. There are bathrooms on site. If going in summer bring water, it is dry and hot.
Eduardo Mace — Google review
Incredible location, so much history all in one place. Worth visiting the museum first and then the archaeological site to gain insight into the scale of some of the building and stories behind them. Highly recommend! And make sure you run up and down the Olympic stadium!
Ralph Ellis — Google review
We were here as part of a cruise tour so didn't hit the whole site. A great sense of history here and I'd return. You can learn so much not taught in school growing up. The walk is fairly easy. Slopes are minimal but be careful on the gravel. Thank you Greece for keeping this available.

Olympia, Greece, stands as a testament to ancient athleticism and divine reverence. As one of Greece's most significant archaeological sites, it was the birthplace of the legendary Olympic Games, held to honor the mighty Zeus. We marveled at the ruins of temples and walked in the footsteps of ancient athletes, imagining the glory of past competitions. The stadium, with its impressive dimensions, echoed with the cheers of spectators and the thundering footsteps of runners. But amidst the grandeur, we were reminded of the human stories—the honor of Olympic victors, the myth of Hercules, and the temptation of poppies. Olympia is not just a site of ancient ruins; it's a window into the rich tapestry of Greek history and mythology.
Marisa B — Google review
Highly recommend. This site contains temples to Zeus and his wife Hera. It's very easy to walk and there's a lot to see. When I got to the stadium where the games were held during ancient times, I saw people running, as if in a competition. I decided to also run in that space where previous champions ran. There is something awe inspiring about this.

Beautiful site, so glad we made a detour to see it. Quite a drive to get here, but well worth it. Although it was hot and we arrived at 5pm, there was shade and the ground was mostly flat. There were docents everywhere but also maps and short descriptions of each section. It is an incredible feeling, standing amongst the buildings where the first Olympics were held (and also finding out it was built on the ruins of a Neolithic village). Plan to spend at least 2 hours.
Carol Demetrios — Google review
A place of immense historical and cultural significance with vast expense of ruins, remnants of grand and sacred temples and athletic facilities. The lush greenery, tall cypress trees and the nearby river creates a serene and picturesque setting for the ancient sports events.
Zongle — Google review
Amazing site to visit and see the ruins. Best to go early in the day to avoid excessive sun, the ruins have limited shade. Plenty of markers that explain the building you are in front of and where you are on the grounds. It was pretty cool to have my kids run a short sprint in the original location of the Olympic Games.
The 2 museums that accompany the ruins provide a lot of additional information.
Michael Howard — Google review
This is one of the most impressive archeological sites that can be visited in Greece. I would recommend it to anyone traveling in Greece!
Note: the ticket for the site can also be used to visit the 2 museums around it.
Moreover, the is an official app you can download : it gives access to additional info as well as 3D rendering of what the buildings may have looked in their prime, if you want.

Stepping into Olympia is like opening a captivating book that tells tales of ancient times. Every stone, every pathway, every monument echoes with the whispers of history, painting vivid images of a bygone era. The majesty of the site is undeniable, offering a rare glimpse into the heart of ancient Greek civilization. As you wander through its expansive grounds, you don’t just see history – you feel it, palpable in the air, resonating with legends of gods and heroes. A visit to Olympia isn’t just an exploration, it’s a journey back in time. For those curious souls seeking a profound connection with the past and a deeper understanding of humanity’s rich tapestry, Olympia awaits with its timeless allure. Highly recommended for history enthusiasts and dreamers alike.

Wow. The sheer history of this site fills me with awe. The signage is good and explains the ruins well. There are toilets that can be accessed from within the site. It was fabulous to see the archaeologists working. The ground can be uneven and there are a few steps to negotiate.

First Olympics was here 3000~ years ago. Earthquakes and time have damaged much of it. But there's still so much to see and the restoration that has been done is incredible

What an amazing feeling, being to the place where the Olympic idea started, thousands of years before. Beautiful scenery, blended with ancient columns and ruins. The track were ancient athletes run is intact and gives you the chills! People run all over it, trying to get the vibes!! Definitely recommend this place for a visit!!

It's beautiful and moving to see the stade.
The site is quite large and perfect to wander around.
The museum is gorgeous.
The kids liked it as they could run in the site and enjoy the outdoor. I give 4 stars as it is a site has a lot of the monuments down so maybe less spectacular than others.

This is a must-see. The ancent ruins are very accessible and easy to view. Much more than the Acropolis in Athens. By this I mean, you could get closer to them and really have a good idea of the huge size of these temples.
We had a professional guide (I would highly recommend) as he was able to tell us about how the original Olympic Games were run. They were not every year but when a battle needed to be celebrated. There are many different temples and structures to see.

Recommend for a nice excursion. Wonderful museum and site. We did visit first thing, which was lovely for the crowds as well as the heat. It is a big site and so may take hours. Hot in the summer. Wonderful for the family. We did hire a local guide which made the experience just wonderful.

Interesting historical place where the first Olympics took place.
There is restoration work taking place also uncovering more history.
You would need a good couple of hours at least to have a walk around plus time for the museum too.
It's worth a visit if you get a chance as it's a unique piece of history.

A must visit when going to Greece.
It boggles the mind how this amazing site was lost in history for so long. Loved the boards that provided the context and story. This is the best site we have visited for clear stories and backgrounds information.

Our favorite archeological site we visited in Greece. In offseason they close at 3:30 so would recommend arriving early as you can spend 3-5 hours here easily. We even went back a second day to just read on the grass.

A unique experience. I enjoyed this trip to the fullest, I really want to thank all the staff that worked there for the entertaining guided tour and the excellent services. I would like to come again.

I wanted to visit the original Olympic site for a long time. So I was very excited when I finally stood in front of the Ancient site of Olympia.
We can walk through most of the ruins, and some of them have a steel rope circling. I hope people will notice that they shouldn’t walk inside. However, some people are still walking inside the circled area!
The site is massive. All the ruins are there with information displayed in front of them. I loved the Ancient site of Olympia. I hope people will remember not to cause damage to the ruins.
Michael W. — Google review
This is so exquisite! We got our money worth a thousand times! In the winter the entrance is only 6 euros pp, site and 2 museums included! If I understand well the price goes up this year to 24E,in the summer. I was there between Christmas and New year, and it was super quiet.. In the summer it must be crazy.. You have to reserve a time slot then!
Carine Vloemans- IASIS — Google review
Such an amazing museum. I loved every details and sculptures here. It was a bit crowdy when we came, but we had no wait to get our tickets. The museum isn't very big but has very important pieces. Lovely Olympia.
eslem ouederni — Google review
Great place of some awesome history. Our children were in awe that they had arrived at the sight of the original Olympics. They really enjoyed running in the original stadium area. Was also cool to see the Zeus temple. You can see the sheer size of it!
John Russell-Smith (FamilyRussell-SmithTravel) — Google review
Great experience because of the virtual reality glasses from Olympia back in time! Too bad the glasses were not right next to the site but it was only a 10 minute walk away and definitely something to rent to make it more than just stones! Kids enjoyed racing at the stadium and mostly the virtual reality.
One thing to note, if you want to visit the museum first then you need to get tickets from the museum. If you would like to visit the site first, then tickets at the site. We went to the site but wanted to visit the museum and there was a bit of discussion and we needed to refund the tickets and get new ones.

Best stops along Corinth to Sami drive
The top stops along the way from Corinth to Sami (with short detours) are Navagio, Melissani Cave, and Archaeological Site of Olympia. Other popular stops include Delphi, Laganas Beach, and Skala Beach.
Ancient Corinth is a well-preserved archaeological site that offers a glimpse into the Roman city's history. The remains include temples, fountains, theaters, and ornate columns that stand as a testament to ancient Greek architectural skill. The Temple of Apollo is particularly picturesque with its fluted columns surrounded by wildflowers and mountain peaks in the background. Nearby attractions such as the Medieval Castle of Acrocorinth and Ancient Nemea offer additional historical exploration.
Don't miss this place when visiting the area! The beautiful ancient, witch was one of the more important ones from history, along with the amazing museum really teach you a lot about ancient Greece. It's absolutely amazing how the giant pillars and the statues managed to survive so long! Sadly, I was in a rush and only managed to visit the central area, where the museum is so I will definitely visit this place again!

Such an amazing place to visit. Definitely worth a visit. A tour is beneficial as they have lots of history to share. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because the customer service is horrible. They were extremely rude to us and I think us being from the US didn't help.

Incredible place of history. Easy to park and view. Go early to beat heat. See museum second to cool down. Incredible much is in tact. Recommended.

Compared to other sites in Athens, you will be able to enjoy these ruins without crowds or hurry. The backdrop of the surrounding hills is gorgeous and food, gelato, and tourist shopping is just outside the gate. Plenty of parking available.
Ai Bo — Google review
This is an amazing site rich in classic Greek history, especially the stories about the commerce, the development and the life including the open attitudes towards sexual relations. It is hard to imagine the sophisticated lifestyle that flourished when other civilizations were still in the stone age.
The museum is larger than it looks, and the site is large. Plan on a couple of hours. Note there is only one male and one female restroom so plan accordingly.
Rhicke Jennings — Google review
Well preserved archeological site with a museum on site. Many a great have walked these paths in ancient history and we get see some of the remnants.
The site is fairly well laid out and easy to navigate. There is a small museum on site where you can escape the sun in case it gets too hot.
There’s a lot to admire about this place.
It is a bit cut off so transportation without a car may have to be planned meticulously.
The views from the grounds are stunning especially on a clear sunny day.
And don’t forget to visit the Acropolis which is free and also nearby.

The ruins are beautiful and there is a peaceful atmosphere. However the customer service is horrible. I wanted to take a picture of some friends standing infront of something. But this woman had to burst my eardrums with her whistle, saying that this is not allowed. While she could have just gone to me explaining the situation.
So beware of grumpy women with whistles behind you.
Ryan Edelenbos — Google review
Great site with well preserved ruins and pieces of archeological significance for a 10€ charge. The grounds are not too large to be overwhelming but there is enough to see to require 1-2 hours. We went in the evening and saw the sunset over the temples and columns which added to the experience. If you have interest in the biblical or historical roots of Greece, this is a must see.
Tyler Harris — Google review
Amazing, amazing site with such historical connections to big names in the Bible. Even if you aren’t religious, you are struck with the idea that such massive figures in our history were here. The buildings and intricate carvings (decoration) on the stone are in great shape.

Cannot say enough about this place. I enjoyed the museum and walking around on my own taking time to read almost every plaque. Next time I will pay for a tour though I’ve since learned the tours are excellent.

Absolutely Amazing ! If you are in the Athens are. its only a short 1 hour drive away, We hired a car from the hotel and arrived late morning (beat the heat) to see a gorgeous valley that has a castle like fortress overlooking the ruins . We self guided the site and took hundreds of photos of all the unbelievable artifacts but on hind site would definitely hire a guide for the a full historical experience , truly a must see.

Corinth is a site that is not over crowded and serves as a great look into Biblical history. Take your time to read the different historical information stations to learn what you are looking at. I highly recommend using a guide at this site to get all the insight from the area. It is absolutely breathtaking.

This is an excellent exhibit of ruins. They have an outdoor area with tons to see. And there are signs and a walking path to inform and direct. Moreover, they have an indoor museum which I found amazing. Many artifacts and informative signs.
Marshall Daigre — Google review
Excellent museum and site. It is particularly of interest to students of the Book of Acts and the letters of Paul since he spent much time starting and building a congregation here. Interesting aspects of burial customs on display and explained.
David Betts — Google review
One of the top Classical Greek archaeological sites in Greece. Large and diverse. It also has a small but interesting museum though not as spectacular as many others. Still worth visiting.
jeremy kalous — Google review
Nice historical place to see. The museum is also good and should be visited. Use the parking area before coming up the hill. There are more parking slots available near the entrance, but the exit is away from the entrance so the way is shorter using the first parking area.
Rene S. — Google review
Very few visitors (can be because of the 40+ °C temperatures). Very large and beautiful excavation site.
The only star deduction: not everything was allowed to be photographed in the museum...

A very beautiful historical place of birth and spread of Christianity. Happy to visit where the ancient Greeks read the letters of the apostles.
Oleksii H — Google review
Wonderful site! The ruins and the museum are both interesting, and the landscape around is impressive.
Benoît Larcher — Google review
Neat place to visit with a museum on site to give you a glimpse of history. Be aware, Ancient Corinth is actually quite small, in fact, a bit underwhelming. Beat the tour busses and opt for a private or small tour. Big busses make predictable stops at tout traps along the way. Not much to see in or around this spot but worth a visit to see where the Apostle Paul had influence.
Tieshia Moore — Google review
Nice place, but not that impressive after seeing much better ones around, especially in Athens. I believe the entrance fee is 8€, but you can see a lot without even getting in.
Dragutin Cividini — Google review
A wonderful day trip away from the crowded Athens. There are several sites in the area that you can visit but must have a car ,as without is quute challenging to visit.

Lots of ruins, many well-preserved structures, arguably better than the Athenian agora. Spend about 45 mins here in your visit to Corinth.
Lion Gate, located in the ancient city of Mycenae in Argolis, Greece, is a must-see for history enthusiasts. This iconic monument dates back to the Late Bronze Age and serves as the entrance to the citadel. The gate features two imposing lions facing each other above the entrance, making it a striking symbol of the era.
The Ancient Mycenae is an ancient Greek archaeological site that dates back to the 12th century BC. It is located in the barren foothills of Mt Agios Ilias and Mt Zara, and it includes remains of an acropolis, palace, and tomb. This kingdom was a dominant force in Greece for over 400 years (1600-1200 BC) and exerted influence over other Mycenaean kingdoms.
I fell in love with this place; I went twice in 2 days!
So much to see, any historian or otherwise would be enchanted.
The artifacts and premises are kept exceptionally well, and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly.
I would love to return one day, God willing!
Sotiria Tsagalidis — Google review
Beautiful site: the museum has all the information and great objects; the site itself is large and you can walk through the ruins. It costs €12 which includes another site nearby (a must see as well). It is not wheelchair accessible and you need proper trainers to walk around. The surrounding hills / mountains create a fantastic landscape.
Laura Porro — Google review
Without any advance information about what you'll see, one could be disappointed. A rocky outcrop, big walls, a cool gateway. That's what you'll come away with...
But do a little bit of googling about the Mycenaeans and the treasure that was found here you appreciate it all the better.
Maybe visit the on-site museum first.
Finally, everyone on a Greek Tour goes here so be prepared for crowds at certain times of the day.

Breathtaking! So, I decided to pay the King and Queen a visit. Had a couple issues to discuss, but by the time I got to the top, totally forgot what was on my mind. Just looking at the views and trying to imagine the days of bygone years. A definite must see!

A wondrous visit to Mycenae. Took a touch coach (all day). This was the third and last location. A wonderful walk and history. Well worth the visit. Make sure to listen to the stories from your tour guide.
Dante Rossi — Google review
It is very difficult to find words to describe the emotions this place evokes. To walk around the ancient Acropolis of Mycenae meant walking in the footsteps of my ancestors and admire what they had achieved. The route around the ruins took about an hour and each location had an information board describing what each building was. The views of the valley were breathtaking, and the tombs along with the Lion Gate were awe-inspiring.
Evelyn Maniaki — Google review
This was one of the unexpected delights of our trip in Greece. I was not aware of this archaeological site prior to visiting, but it ended up being my favorite. The tomb is breathtaking due to its sheer scale and level of preservation. The rest of the site is on a steep hill, which was very windy when we visited. The views are amazing and the ancient site is very interesting. I recommend visiting with a guide.
Corey Szumski — Google review
Lovely historical site. Especially good with a licensed guide. Museum is fantastic! The site is wonderful but there could be better markings as to where you are on the site so you know how to get back to the museum. Especially if you have a time constraint.
Matthew Lawrence — Google review
Mycenae deserve a visit, the city is on top on a hill and what is still visible of the walls is impressive. You buy an unique ticket for the Museum, Agamemnon's tomb and the city. Beautiful.
Graziano Caramori — Google review
Fantastic and extensive ruins with some parts dating back 5,000 years and a must see in the Nafplio area. Informative signage throughout in Greek and English make the visit much more interesting. Some parts of the site are accessible for mobility impaired but not all. Interesting trails below the citadel lead to beehive tombs-- don't miss these! The museum on the same grounds hold the collections taken from the excavations and gives context to the visit. Don't miss it. Be aware this is a stop on many tourist itineraries and it can be crowded with tour groups.
Jeanne Neylon Decker (Traveltawk) — Google review
Breathtaking to walk the halls of Agamemnon and the house of Atreus. You can feel the epic of Homer here. The ruins are in pretty remarkable shape and well labeled. The site has a museum in walking distance. One thing I higjly recommend is to go to the center of the two tholos style tombs (Atreus and Lion). The acoustics are amazing.
Jason Dickerson — Google review
Very enjoyable trip to famous historical site. Probably 1-2 hours needed. Great views both is the site itself and also the surrounding area. The place wasn't too busy, although we had to wait a few minutes for a parking space. Bring plenty of water as we couldn't find a water fountain on site, although there was a small shop selling drinks.
Mark Wigmore — Google review
We came here as part of a tour group, taking us through the museum and giving us more context to the ruins. To think that we are looking at over 3,000 years of history is amazing. I would recommend exploring the museum and taking your time to appreciate the ruins and check out the north side, and not just rush through the main parts
Laurence Barnes — Google review
Great experience. Both the archaeological site and the museum deserve a visit. The Lion gate is somewhat emotional.

They have a pensioner discount. Wear comfy shoes. The sit is spread out so be prepared to walk, but it's worth it. Bring some water with you.
Shahieda Salie — Google review
Located on the hills with sharp sunshine in a hot day. Since it located in a remote area, needed to consider 1 – 2 hours to visit the site properly, it made me a bit tired, considering driving back to the city. Luckily had convenient shoes for climbing on soil and stones. Site included a museum, and staff were nice. Beside each section, proper information was provided which I liked.
If planning to see the site, don’t forget memorial picture under Lion Gate.

This was a surprise trip for my group while heading to Athens. It was worth it! Be sure to get a local guide bc there is so much to learn, and otherwise you won't know what you're looking at. The climb wasn't bad and the views from the top were worth it. 360 views of Greece, and a little peak of the sea.

One of the most impressive archeological sites out there. The glory days of this place were more than 3000 years ago, yet this place makes these times come alive. Marvel at the wonders of the architecture, but also take in the simpleness of it all. These are the scales of things one should be imagining when reading Homer.
Truly fascinating place

Another incredible site to experience while on vacation in Greece. So much history and just mind blowing the age of the site and items. Worth a visit for sure.

Fascinating place to visit especially if you've seen the treasures in the National Archaeological Museum in Athens. Wear decent shoes and a hat as it's on a hillside with no shade. Tomb of Clytemnestra was quite eerie, more so than the larger tomb of Agamemnon a bit further down the road.
Wendy Marley — Google review
Magnificent Mycenae Palace, the unique entrance of the lions, the tomps, the museum. The only problem was that in wintertime, the opening hour is till 15:30 even in Google was written till 20:00. We mentioned that in the ticket office that they had to make the correction since we did not have enough time to visit all.

On a sunny spring weekend, it is fantastic to take a walk in this scenic World Heritage Site. The museum is another great reason to visit too.
The Treasury of Atreus, also known as the Tomb of Agamemnon, is a burial mound dating back to 1250 BC and is believed to hold the remains of a Mycenaean-era ruler. Located at the south of the Mani peninsula, it offers a beautiful 2km walk along an uneven rocky path from the car park in Kokinogia. The site is part of a larger archaeological area and provides access to other ancient sites with the same ticket.
A wondrous visit. Visited the Treasury of Atrius as part of an all day coach tour.
Visited the first week of April. No queues and very speedy entrance into the site. The treasury was the last aspect of my visit before leaving.
Definitely advise visiting with a guide or get a good guidebook. The history (story) of the place is what makes this location mythical.

Only one structure but just a massive feat to see how the designed and built this centuries ago. Included with your entrance to the larger archeological site so why not stop. When you get to the opening and look up it makes you pause and realize the engineering marvel this was.

This is one of the many impressive constructions that can be found in the area. Currently, the ticket prices are 12€ for adults and half for children. Keep your ticket because it applies for both archaeological sites (the tomb and the acropolis).

It is a miracle how the ancient Greeks cut, moved and lifted the huge rocks to build it. Just look at the huge piece of rock between the gate and the triangle, it is amazing.

Treasure of Atreus, tomb of Atreus or tomb of Agamemnon is a tholos located on the hill of Panagitsa, just outside Mycenae, and built during the Bronze Age, around 1250 BC, is a funerary monument with a circular ground plan of reference. It is the most monumental surviving vaulted tomb in Greece. The lintel stone over the door weighs 120 tons, the largest in the world. Mentioned by Pausanias, it was still visible in 1879 when the German archaeologist Heinrich Schliemann discovered the shaft tombs under the "agora" on the Acropolis at Mycenae. It is well worth a visit, as is the entire site.
Ana V?zquez — Google review
Spectacular location. The ruins are not so spectacular but well worth a visit. Museum is quite disappointing considering the history of the site. The 12 Century fire seemed to have wiped out most of its artifacts and significance as a place of power. Easy to imagine it as it was though and it retains its ancient feel.

This is a small archaeological site close to the mulch larger Mycenaean ruins on a nearby hillside. It is well worth a visit though as it really is impressive.
We were there on a weekday in early October so avoided the large numbers of tourists. The main site takes less than half an hour to walk around.
Our tickets gave us entry to multiple ancient sites/museums, including Mycenae and others - all for €20 a bargain.

Amazing to see a mixed historical site going beyond ancient Greece to the bronze age. Lovely setting. Car park and toilets.

Incredible architecture and an important site for Mycaenean/ Greek history.
It is only one tomb to view but worth the visit especially since you get access to the rest of the archaeological site (500m up the road) with the same ticket.
There is not much info at the site for you to read, so I suggest reading up on this site before you enter.
No queues to get in here but there were lots of large groups turning up afterwards so be aware that it can get busy at points in the day.

The Hosios Loukas Holy Monastery is a magnificent Byzantine-style religious complex established in the 11th century. It is designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and situated between the towns of Distomo and Kyriaki, about 23km southeast of Arahova. The monastery comprises two churches, including the principal church that houses some of Greece's most exceptional frescoes from the Byzantine era. Visitors are expected to dress modestly (no shorts).
Amazing exemple of Byzantine culture and religion. Now we can see not only perfect wall frescoes and mosaic from X cent., but also olives maschine, monastic garden, cells, cemetery. The place of cult of St Luka of Steira from IX/X cent.
LB L — Google review
We saw this monastery a few days after the area had been ravaged by wildfires. The air still smells of the burning. The monastery was saved but some side buildings were burnt as the fire came to the very edge of the ancient property on Mount Parnassus from the 11th century (modern by Greek standards).
We loved the church and the artwork across the property. It has an amazing history and contains the tomb of the founder, now Saint Luke. Great gift shop.

Worth a visit for the lovely mosaics and murals and the amazing views. But a number of areas that seemed like they normally would be open were closed off. Admission appeared to be free unless you wanted to visit the museum building, we paid to be nice (only 4 euros each) but skipped it since we were short on time. There’s a small snack and museum shop on site.

Beautiful place, an amazing church, almost like Agia Sophia in Istanbul. The mosaics are wonderful with gold from Ravena.
I would have like more time to explore the monastery. Well worth the visit, even if not the religious kind to appreciate the architecture.

Neat little monastery to check out. I would have loved more information on the saint it is dedicated to, but a beautiful place.

Sublime and well preserved monastery, with breathtaking view over the olive trees landscape. My tips :
*/ better visit at the end of day, when the sunlight is warmer and fewer visitors on site
*/ don’t forget to visit the “olive press” part, a bit hidden at the end of the visit

Peace and Beauty. Absolutely a marvelous holy place, quiet and serene with amazing views and lovely people. I was so welcomed at mass, the locals noted my quiet awe at where they worshipped that after mass a local walked me to the icons the resting place of thier Saint and despite a language barrier I knew and she conveyed the special place this was. Thank you Greece, I arrived a guest and left like family.

Great stop on your way to Delphis. Stop for a visit at a very nice untouched place. Recomend to look at their open days and hours. The road is good and you can also eat a lunch at their local shop. Nice staff and a beautiful place to visit. It was very hot on the day we were day but we really liked it. Enjoy your visit looking over the montains and olive trees. Try they´re local pistachios.

We visited Hosios Loukas from Meteora on our way to Athens. Located near the town of Distomo, it is a nice stopover although the road condition was not always good. This is definitely a scenic monastery in the valley, and I saw l lots of olive trees and grapes on the way. The ticket is just 2 euros, but you definitely need your own car to come all the way here.
The Temple of Apollo is an ancient historical landmark with significant cultural and religious importance. It boasts 6 restored Doric columns from the 300s BCE and has been visited by many over thousands of years. Located in Delphi, the ruins include the Fountain of Peirene, the Agora where Paul's trial by Gallio took place, and the famous Bema stands. Another famous Temple of Apollo is located in Naxos, known as Portara or Doorway.
Great temple with historic value, it takes a while to get there but the entrance is not that expensive and everything is well explained, I recommend going here with a guide for the full experience, the ticket is 12 euros and includes a visit to the museum. Both sites have toilets

if you have taken the effort to visit Athens then do take a trip to Delphi and consult the Oracle!
The Drive from Athens takes about 2hr 15 min.
you need about 2 hrs to hike up to the stadium come down and visit the museum. Grab a bite in the picturesque village of Arachova

Some nice history about the temple. Somewhat disappointing when you get to the top and there isn't much else but the theatre and not much of a view.
The best view would be from somewhere in the middle overlooking the theatre.
If you want to learn more about it then would recommend a tour guide. Can sometimes be packed with a lot of tours

Delphi and the Temple of Apollo was excellent, I very much enjoyed exploring these ruins and seeing something similar to what people thousands of years ago would have seen when going to hear from the Oracle. Wear good shoes as the walk up is steep.

The temple of Apollo was so neat. I personally found it more interesting than the Acropolis in Athens. The setting in the hills of Mt Parnassus made it even more incredible. The only downside was that the stadium was closed while we were visiting.
We went in the middle of April during the week and it wasn’t too crowded.

It is hard to imagine how this place looked at its glory. It took more than a thousand years to fully develop this site.
This is the most famous Oracle site in the ancient world. Has fallen into decline in 5th century after Christianity was officially introduced in Greece.
Tomek Ikea — Google review
Got there at 3:15 pm and was denied entry because last entrance is at 3:10 even though Google maps says 8:30-4:00 pm.
I came from overseas and drove all the way from Athens to see this temple, and the ladies would not budge to let us in, even though we would pay and had travelled so far. She even had the nerve to ask “what I was doing all day” since they open at 8:30 am. Ridiculous way to treat guests who are visiting your country for the first time.
Anyway, there’s a cool hike behind the temple that overlooks the mountains. Much better than just the temple and it’s open 24/7! :)

Perfect for ancient history or mythology fans. If you go before 10am you should miss all the bus tours.
The Delphi Archaeological Museum houses a vast collection of architectural sculptures, statues, and other precious objects donated to the ancient Greek oracle from the 8th century BC onwards. It is a matter of debate whether to visit the museum or site first, as both offer unique experiences. The museum provides visitors with insights into what the site may have looked like during its prime, featuring wealthy buildings and vividly coloured statues.
The museum is right next to the Delphi ruins and holds most of the (small) items found on the site and the more monuments/decorative stones used on the buildings.
The museum isn't that big and takes the general visitor less than half an hour.
Including the Delphi ruins this is a sight worth seeing.

Really incredible museum and building! Loved how the building stands on stilts overtop of an archaeological site with several places to view from. It's easy to understand why it has won so many awards with its thoughtful design that compliments the exhibits without taking away from them. Note that you are not allowed to bring backpacks into the museum. I was asked to check my backpack but it was free and an efficient system. No worries there.

Archaeological site and museum locate beside each other, just off the road. Finally, found a spot in 5 – 10 minutes’ walk. Since no specific parking lot provided, there is a chance, need to go back and forth to find a spot after somebody’s leaving. Staff were very nice and welcome. Site is located in the heights and good looking landscape. You would see different nationality, professional and nice travelers, interested in history. There was some information about monument but it could be more. There were some shops for statues and souvenirs with good price. Still there is a chance to negotiate. Local people were welcome to provide information, to help to find parking spot, and to show the ways.

Visiting the Delphi archaeological site and museum was an unforgettable journey into the heart of ancient Greece. The site itself, nestled on the slopes of Mount Parnassus, offers breathtaking views and a palpable sense of history. Exploring the ruins of the Temple of Apollo, the theater, and the stadium was like stepping back in time, imagining the rituals and competitions that once took place there.
The museum, with its impressive collection of artifacts, beautifully complements the outdoor experience. From intricately carved statues to delicate pottery, each exhibit tells a story of the people who once inhabited this sacred place. The highlight for me was seeing the iconic Charioteer statue up close, its serene expression and masterful craftsmanship truly awe-inspiring.
The staff at both the site and the museum were knowledgeable and passionate, adding depth to the experience with their insights and anecdotes. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply seeking to connect with the past, a visit to Delphi is a must-do. It's a place where ancient wonders come to life, leaving a lasting impression on all who have the privilege to explore its treasures.

Incredible history behind an ancient center of religion. Imagine asking and then getting advice from a woman who babbled from inhaled vapors which then were interpreted by priests in a vague manner so as to allow the questioner to figure out the answer for themselves. And then the vast mini temples and tributes to the Oracle...
It blows the mind as to how powerful and influential this place was.

Good museum. You definitely need an engaging tour guide to get proper context and history behind each display. The museum felt a little congested and the air conditioning is bad. No proper ventilation. Overall a good museum to visit. Just make sure to grab a fan to get yourself some air.

Worth the drive - don't miss Delphi!
This was one of the best parts of the our Greek trip! Delphi is so beautiful and magical. It was worth the two hour drive from Athens. We took a tour with Getaways Greece which was a day trip. The vistas were just beautiful on the drive. Once you get to Delphi it's like you're transported to somewhere magical! I loved it better than Acropolis which was so touristy. The crowds were sparse here and it was lovely to take in the sites at your own pace without being herded like cattle.
Mind you it does take a bit of walking if you want to get to the top to see the stadium. But even if you don't go all the way to the top it is still a beautiful place to visit and you can still get a lot out of it without going to the top. Wear comfortable shoes.

Beautiful museum and incredible site to explore. We had a private guide that explained all of the historical significance of the site.
I'll just add one warning: the incline is steep and the steps are uneven. If mobility is an issue, as it was for me, making it to the top to see the theater, may not be possible.

This museum wasn't too bad, especially since the ticket to the Sanctuary of Apollo came with the museum ticket. For the size of the place, I was kind of expecting it to be wall to wall artifacts and it really wasn't. With the museum and the archeological sites, maybe took a few hours to read about and take in.
Brian Morton — Google review
If your visiting Delphi this is a must see. The museum really helps put the ruins in perspective and context. Lots of ancient artifacts found at the site. It's very affordable and not huge, I wouldn't see spending more than maybe a few hours.

Great place to visit if you're in the area. Plenty to see and learn during this site.
The path is nicely laid out, and you should be able to see everything should you follow the correct path.
The archeological site also offers an amazing view of the mountains, especially as you get higher towards the stadium.
The ticket price also offers entry into the museum, which offers historic displays and artefacts from the archeological site.
Don't forget to visit the other two archeological sites just a little further down the road (gymnasium and Athena... Something - should be visible on Google Maps).
Walkable to and from the town of Delphi as well, so you can definitely spend a good few hours there, wandering around and learning about this site and its historical importance.

An exceptional archaeological site as well as a museum. It is not indicated anywhere, but due to the extreme heat, the working hours have been changed. In the morning they work from 8h to 13h and then from 17:30h to 20h. The disadvantage is that children from 12 to 25 years old outside the European Union are not entitled to free entry but pay half price.

I would advise doing this with a guide if your interested in more then just taking photos. You get a much more in depth experience and an understanding of what your looking at. Museum and the temple ruins were amazing. Note the stadium is about 10-15 mins further up from the ruins.

Not too big but interesting, best to go after visiting the main site as you'll have an idea where many of the things on exhibit were from. The Delphi Archaeological Museum, nestled in the heart of Greece, serves as a mesmerizing window into the ancient world, showcasing the rich cultural and religious heritage of the Delphic sanctuary, revered throughout antiquity as the home of the famous oracle. This museum is a treasure trove of history, housing an extensive collection of artifacts that span thousands of years, including the iconic Charioteer of Delphi, the Sphinx of Naxos, and the remnants of the Temple of Apollo. The exhibits, arranged chronologically, offer a comprehensive overview of the development of the art and thought of ancient Greece, making it a must-visit for history enthusiasts. Beyond its historical significance, the museum's location offers breathtaking views of the surrounding valley and mountains, adding a layer of natural beauty to the experience. You can visit this amazing place from parking to peak in an hour. And if you do, you're cheating yourself. If you don’t want to leave with regrets, commit at least four hours for this exploration of antiquities and yourself. We were on a private tour. It was supposed to be a small group of 6 to 8 people. But we were the only customers that day so it was my partner, myself, our guide and our driver. It was perfect! Do not, I repeat, do NOT book a large group tour! You will be one of 60 people wearing a headset, separated from everyone, in your private purgatory, trying to stay within range of your distant guide’s transmission. But don’t trust me. “Know thyself.” Know for yourself. Visit & form your own opinions.

A must visit the museum. There are so many artifacts that were in very good condition or very well restored. One should visit the site first and then visit the museum. There are no restrooms inside the museum, you need to go out for that. Also make sure to check the time slot in your ticket, and visit the museum within that time to avoid issues.
Delphi is a modern town located west of the ancient archaeological site. The town was established to accommodate the population of Castro, which had to be relocated for the excavation of the ancient Delphi site. Ancient Delphi, situated on Mt Parnassos with views of the Gulf of Corinth and surrounded by olive trees, is considered one of Greece's most spiritually significant archaeological sites.

Hiking, horse riding and canoe are some of the activities you can enjoy while you're here. You can also see Lake Doxa in a recent travel film (along with nearby villages and the region of Stymphalia) called WanderSoul: Beyond the road which I'll list below. The only negative I saw was the small makeshift shops from the vendors near the chapel that spoiled the image of the landscape.
There could be small uniform shops in a row made of wood or some material that would fit the landscape.

We checked this place online and it said it’s free entrance so we jumped in a car and drove an hour to see a monastery. We were so excited, enjoyed breathtaking views all along our way. When we got inside and were enjoying nice art inside a museum we were greeted by a monk who told us that it cost 3 euros each to be there. We did not have any cash and he told us that in mountains nobody takes credit cards which is not true because everyone else had no problem with it. He basically asked to leave… so disappointing … and misleading…

This is an impressive monastery with a dramatic history. It has been burned four times: 840 during Iconoclasm riots, 1640 by the Ottomans, 1934 by accident, and 1943 by the Nazis. It was rebuilt each time, most recently in the late 1950’s by donation from the King of Greece. It was renovated in 2011 with EU funding. The gift shop is excellent as well.

Cable-stayed road bridge with pedestrian sidewalks over the Gulf of Corinth.
Rio-Antirio bridge is a spectacular bridge spanning the Corinth gulf at its western end, just by the city of Patras.
Four enormous Delta shaped pillars holding massive cables connect the Peloponnese with mainland Greece and it was built just before the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
However, crossing the bridge is very expensive - 13,50 Euros for a minute-two drive.
Therefore, for all those not in a hurry (and why should you be on your vacation) I suggest taking the ferry instead. They're just beneath the bridge in both towns - Rio and Antirio, depart every 20-30 min. The journey is around 20 min and costs double cheaper - 6,50 Euros for the car with all passengers included.
Views from the ferry are much better than those from the bridge itself

Marvellous piece of engineering. It is built over the gulf of corinth and one of the longest multi span cable bridges. The Charilaos Trikoupis Bridge, also known as the Rion-Antirion Bridge, is a cable-stayed bridge that was completed and inaugurated in 2004. Spanning the Gulf of Corinth near Patras, it serves as a vital link between Rion (a suburb of Patras) and Antirrion, connecting the Peloponnese with the western mainland of Greece. The bridge's main span, supported by four pylons, stretches over 2,252 meters in length. With the adjoining approaches, the total length reaches approximately 2,883 meters, and its foundation extends as deep as 65 meters below the sea's surface. Toll stations for both directions are positioned on the Antirrion side of the bridge. The bridge features a pedestrian and bicycle pathway, providing toll-free access for these modes of transportation. The bridge's design process commenced in the mid-1990s, and it was officially inaugurated on August 7, 2004, just a week before the start of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. The total construction cost amounted to 630 million euros. In subsequent years, modern highways were constructed on both sides of the bridge, including the Olympia Odos and the Ionian Odos, as part of the modernization of Greece's road network. The integration of these two highways with the bridge was completed during the summer of 2017.
The Holy Church of Saint Andrew the Apostle is a significant pilgrimage site in Patras, boasting a Byzantine-style basilica with 13 domes and a gold-plated cross. It houses holy relics, including the head of Saint Andrew. This Greek Orthodox church is renowned for its impressive size and beautiful mosaic art. Interestingly, the smaller church on the right features an exquisite fresco on its ceiling.

The Saint Andreas Orthodox church in Patras is a stunning basilica that hosts the relics of the city’s patron saint, the apostle Andrew. The church is the largest in Greece and has a beautiful dome, a marble iconostasis, and impressive frescoes and mosaics. I highly recommend visiting this church if you are in Patras.
Historical trivia: Saint Andrew was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus Christ and the brother of Simon Peter. He is said to have preached the gospel in various regions, including Asia Minor, Scythia, and Greece. He was martyred in Patras by being crucified on an X-shaped cross, which is now known as the Saint Andrew’s cross.

It is one of the most important places to visit in Patra. They say that here is kept the head of Saint Andrew and also that this church is the biggest of all balcany. It is impressive indeed how big it is, if you consider that Orthodox churches are smaller than the Catholic ones. A curiosity is that the first church wasn't the biggest one, but the one at the right, where I really suggest to enter, cause it has an amazing fresco in the ceiling.

Incredible location, so much history all in one place. Worth visiting the museum first and then the archaeological site to gain insight into the scale of some of the building and stories behind them. Highly recommend! And make sure you run up and down the Olympic stadium!

It boggles the mind how this amazing site was lost in history for so long. Loved the boards that provided the context and story. This is the best site we have visited for clear stories and backgrounds information.

Great place of some awesome history. Our children were in awe that they had arrived at the sight of the original Olympics. They really enjoyed running in the original stadium area. Was also cool to see the Zeus temple. You can see the sheer size of it!

The Archaeological Museum of Olympia is a must-see for visitors to the ancient site. The museum showcases artifacts and art from the ruins, spanning from prehistoric times to the Roman period. Exhibits include ceramics, votive offerings, sacrificial cauldron adornments, and sculptures from the Temple of Hera. The main attraction is reassembled pediments and metopes from the Temple of Zeus showcased in a dramatic display in the main hall.
This is a small museum, but so amazing. The museum's collection shows the Greek style and then the transition to the Roman style. A few of the pieces reminded me of what you would see in the Louvre. If you enjoy the Renaissance period, you can see original pieces that were created about 2,000 years earlier. I had a tour guide so that really enhanced my experience.

Very well run and interesting site for the origin of the Olympics. Amazing that the first record of the games was back in 776 BC and ran every 4 years for the next 1300 or so years. The overall area was roughly half religious/administrative and every thing else was devoted to the games.

Well laid out, clearly explained, fantastic artifacts. You'd do well to spend 80% of your time in Olympia here, reading and exploring everything, unlike the tour groups that rocket through each room, choosing only 1 item to highlight and talking--so you can't read anything on your own. We didn't do that. Highlight: the temple of Zeus pediment statues which are better presented and explained than the Parthenon ones at the Acropolis museum! Well done! We are full time travelers who spent 3 months exploring Greece.

One of the museums of Ancient Greece. There is a bi hall with armor and bronze offerings. I liked the wall with griffons. So unique! and they have a lot of beautifully detailed statues.. with heads!(but most of them are still without noses. But the most exiting thing were the pediments of the Zeus' temple! The place is definitely is worth seeing it!

Nestled in the heart of ancient Olympia, the Archaeological Museum offers an unparalleled journey through time. From the moment you step foot inside, you are transported back to the birthplace of the Olympic Games and the cradle of Western civilization. The museum's collection is nothing short of breathtaking, showcasing artifacts dating back to antiquity. From intricately carved statues of gods and athletes to exquisite pottery and jewelry, each piece tells a story of ancient Greece's rich cultural heritage. One of the highlights of my visit was seeing the renowned statue of Hermes by Praxiteles, a masterpiece of classical sculpture that exudes grace and beauty. The museum's layout is well-designed, allowing visitors to navigate through the exhibits with ease and fully immerse themselves in the history and significance of each artifact. The staff members were friendly and knowledgeable, ready to answer any questions and offer guidance throughout my visit. Additionally, the museum's facilities, including restrooms and a gift shop, were well-maintained and convenient for visitors. Overall, my experience at the Archaeological Museum of Olympia was nothing short of extraordinary. It is a must-visit destination for history enthusiasts, art lovers, and anyone eager to uncover the wonders of ancient Greece. I highly recommend allocating ample time to explore this cultural gem and soak in the awe-inspiring legacy of Olympia.

Collection is incredible. Some of the most impressive bronze relics in the world. It’s worth a visit to be in the presence of these artifacts.
That said, if you are a serious museum goer, avoid the middle of the day as loads of noisy tour busses unload their flocks. Private tours with loud guides further disrupt the learning experience. Halls are made of marble and the sound echoes: Makes it hard to concentrate on the reading. Best to visit early or late when the crowds subside.

One of the great museums of Greece, indeed Europe, with remarkable Archaic period bonzes and terracottas.
The early Classical period marble sculpture from the Temple of Zeus is the museum's highlight due to its completeness.
Don't miss the finds from Phidias' workshop where he made the huge Statue of Zeus - one of the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World.
Finally, Paionios' Nike alighting on top of a victory column is also superbly displayed.

I wasn't expecting to be this good but the central collection of the Heracles tasks and both representation from the temple of Zeus that they have are simply astonishing, the size and impact of just looking at all of these pieces of art are simply beautiful. Another magnificent piece they have is the one from Hermes, you can see the amazing details that this statue has, you must see it and appreciate how lucky you are by just being there. A must do for sure.

Archaeological Museum of Olympia in Olympia, Greece is a beautiful collection of artifacts from this historic site. The Olympic games were free, but people were required to bring offerings of their own choosing, to be sacrificed to the gods. Many have been recovered, all are fascinating. In this museum we also viewed Nike of Paionios, Hermes of Praxiteles, The sculptured ornaments from the Temple of Zeus., and more. The rough looking scrapers towards the end of this photo series are the tools used by original Olympians to clean their dirty skin.

The museum and archeological site are amazing. The ruins are not as well preserved as other Greek sites but still work the visit. Expensive to get in though. 12 euros for adults. What a brilliant little museum. Set up by a philanthropist and costing nothing to enter (there is a donation box) this is a little gem. It covers many of the extraordinary inventions he created and explains them in English as well as Greek. The models are fabulous and there are interactive sections for kids. Really great!

The Archaeological Museum of Olympia complements historically, scientifically and artistically the most famous ancient sanctuary dedicated to the worship of Zeus. In the consciousness of present-day civilization, however, Olympia is best known for the pan-Hellenic games held in 776 BCE - 393 AD, forerunners of the current Olympic Games. Appearing since the dawn of Greek civilization, the Sanctuary of Olympia became the most important pan-Hellenic religious, political and sports center of ancient Greece.
The museum contains a large number of artifacts identified on the grounds and in the vicinity of the nearby archaeological site of Olympia. The exhibits are presented in chronological order and are grouped thematically in 11 rooms that form a kind of circuit around a large central hall that houses sculptures from the Temple of Zeus, which housed the famous Statue of Zeus, one of the 7 wonders of antiquity. Incidentally, many other pieces come from the two main temples (Zeus and Hera) of the sanctuary. From the point of view of history and artistic periods, the exhibition space covers the entire period of Olympia's existence, from the Prehistoric period (2700-2000 BCE), passing through the Mycenaean (1600-1100 BCE), Geometric and Archaic periods (the centuries 9 - 6 BCE), the "Severe" style period (Early Classic, 490-450 BCE, in which the Temple of Zeus is also decorated), the Roman period (2nd century BC - 3rd century AD) and ending with the period of abandonment of the site (6th-7th centuries AD).
In the Archaeological Museum of Olympia we meet various exhibits and especially statues that appear in textbooks and art history books. Among these we mention:
- the world's largest collection of offerings to the God Zeus (Geometric and Archaic periods)
- the terracotta "acroterion" that crowned the Temple of the Goddess Hera in Olympia
- the cornice of the Treasury of Gela and the pediment of the Treasury of Megara
- Head of the Goddess Athena, ceramic, early 5th century BC.
- the metopes with the Labors of Hercules and the two statuary compositions of the pediments, eastern - "The Chariot race of Pelops and Oinomaos"" and western - "Battle of Lapiths and Centaurs" on the Temple of Zeus, in the "Severe" style
- the statue of Zeus (reproduction) made by Phidias, the greatest sculptor of antiquity, and his workshop
- the "Zeus and Ganymides" statuary ensemble, made of terracotta, the beginning of the 5th century B.C.
- "Statue of Nike" (Victorious Goddess), 420 BCE of the sculptor Paionios
- The statue of Hermes with the Infant Dionysus (4th century BC) by the sculptor Praxitele
- statues from the Roman period: the offering bull at the (Fountain) Nymphaion and various statues of Roman emperors and empresses - Adrian, Marcus Aurelius, Titus, Julia Agrippina, etc.

Banana beach is a vast expanse of sandy shore perfect for swimming and outdoor activities. The beach offers loungers, umbrellas, and various water sport options to keep visitors entertained. It's a cosmopolitan hub with a nearby bar that caters to all age groups. For those who prefer privacy, the smaller Plaka Beach is just a stone's throw away.
Banana Beach & Casa Playa Restaurant are the best! We enjoyed the place so much, that we came back for a second time. The food at the restaurant was very good and the staff very attentive.
The sunbeds are pretty cheap (10€ for 2 basic sunbeds + umbrella or 15€ for 2 wooden sunbeds + umbrella).
I totally recommend if you are looking for a sand beach with clear and beautiful water.

Amazing Beach with beautiful white sand, different types of sunbeds and a highclass Restaurant / Bar.
The sea is very shallow, the first 2 or 3 meters in water are stony. Also available all kind of watersport activities for fair prices. Our positive surprise was clearly the high quality of food in the restaurant, slightly elevated with nice view on the beach. The food is not necessarely only greek style rather then international cuisine - octopus risotto and chicken burrito accompanied by a nice bottle of Möet Chandon Ice rosé and our day was saved.
Nice chilling background music at the beach (with live DJ) and drink / food service at sunbed. I guess this is the best equiped beach at Zakynthos!

Private beach. They offer you 2 types of sunbeds and 3 types of umbrellas (one is a wood structure with curtains in front of the beach). The less expensive is 10€ 2 sunbeds and 1 umbrella for alla day, the 2nd 20 euros that we chose the 2 times that have been there because we were ok with the umbrella and the sunbeds were the same for the 30€ and 40€ offer. You can't bring drinks and food from the outside because you have to order from their bar. I have to admit that here we ate the best and the most delicious Greek salad on the island (maybe there is another place but this is a 10+). We also ate a souvlaki and desserts. The salted caramel brownie was the best I have eaten in my life and the yogurt with honey is illegal. You have to come here once. The bar has an exotic atmosphere, the guys that work there have a uniform that reminds me of Bali and they are kind. I also love the sand beach a lot because of it's low water till 50/60 m far away. There is a shower and also toilets.
For me is a go and I advice you to go there. I can't believe that someone can be disappointed.
If you want to go to a similar place that has "no rules" you can go to the old Alykanas Beach.

The beach is notably unclean, with a lack of maintenance along the waterline. The initial two meters of the shoreline are strewn with uncomfortable stones that can be painful to step on. Additionally, there's an 18 euro charge per person for a sunbed, and strict rules prohibiting bringing outside food or drinks; you're limited to what they serve. Given these conditions, I'd recommend heading to Gerakas Beach, which is not only cleaner with a sandy shore but also offers more freedom and affordability.

Fine sand and a long beach. entering the water is easy, there are some small pebbles at the entrance, but otherwise fine sand. after 5 meters the water drops and a portion is only 50 cm deep, a good place for water games. The beach is suitable for children and for the smooth entry into the water, but also for the fine sand with which you can build shapes in the sand. there are blanket areas where you can sit quietly, but also sunbeds with service from the nearby bar, which will vary in 2023 from 10 eur to 20 eur. A beach worth visiting and a huge parking area with shades.

I think this is the most beautiful beach on the island ( if you want to have all the facilities ). The price for 2 seats and one umbrella is 10 euros. You can order there food and drinks. They have a restaurant, showers, lounge areas in the grass. The entrance is on an alley that is full with bloomed flowers. If you are a city girl/boy then this is your beach to go on Zakinthos island. I really recommend. There is also a parking space.
Kalamaki Beach Hotel on Zakynthos Island is a serene beachfront property with an outdoor pool, restaurant, and bar. The beach is located in a protected area next to Laganas, making it a popular spot for snorkeling. The National Marine Park of Zakynthos was established to preserve the coastal area and provide a safe nesting place for Caretta caretta turtles.
Went to visit family there we had lunch at the pool bar which was excellent then chilled out on the sun loungers by the pool which was spotless. staff are very polite and accommodating. The beach is only a stones throw away from this lovely hotel.

My friend and I booked a room at their hotel back in February, aiming to go to Zante from 9th to 12th of June, conscious of the terms and conditions and the no cancellation policy (stressing this point again because the hotel's reply at my feedback is just a sad attempt to demonstrate we did not understand or really paid attention when we completed the booking when It Is not the case, we were absolutely aware of the no cancellation policy).
Unfortunately though, Ryanair cancelled our flights towards the end of February, offering alternatives on other dates not Ideal for us. Due to the unforeseen situation, we immediately reached out to the hotel explaining what happened, sharing evidence of the flight's change and kindly asked if they could consider a free cancellation, at least for part of the amount paid.
We called and sent several messages (First message sent on 24th of February and rejection without a message to explain their reasons received beginning of March only, again to prove that what stated by the owner in their reply It Is not true, they did not reply immediately and they didn't even pick up the phone) and never really received an answer for a while, until one day they simply reject our request without even a message. At that point, we decided to escalate this with Booking who could not do much more besides trying to explain the circumstance once again, ending up receiving the same "treatment". I appreciate and respect that the no cancellation policy was clear from the start but, not only we were ignored - we are guests, a minimum of touch on how they dealt with us should have been the minimum - but with 4 months ahead of the planned holiday, they could have easily found someone else interested in their hotel who would have replaced our booking. If this Is how they treat their guests, i would avoid this place.

Me and other 4 friends booked a semi-based apartment on Feb 2022 for vacation planned on June 2022 through booking website.
Our booking was a non refundable one and we were aware of not getting money back in case the trip was stopped for any reason.
One week later we had journey changes by Ryanair, myself had to fly and leave on same day since the flying company cancelled many dates.
We tried to call the hotel by phone, to reach them by email and we never had a reply for weeks.
We then tried to contact Booking Assistance in order to help us, sending our cancelled flights too, letting them know it would have been not possible to control the situation, highlighting that we were giving 4 months of warning.
Hotel never responded to us neither to Booking Assistance and so we then tried again through the Booking Assistance team to help us contacting directly the hotel.
They replied they couldn’t refund us with NO explanations, having an insensitive behavior, when they are usually fully booked and this reservation could have been made by someone else very quickly. Also, they lost clients for no reason!
Worst experience ever!!!!

We recently stayed at your hotel for a week and received excellent service from the front desk throughout our stay. We chose a sea view room, and the spacious balcony provided a comfortable and relaxing experience for us.
We would like to express our gratitude for the comfortable and spacious accommodation provided by your hotel. Our family thoroughly enjoyed our time in the sea view room. The magnificent view of the sea from the balcony greeted us with freshness and tranquility every morning. The expansive balcony gave us a great sense of comfort, allowing us to fully enjoy the relaxation of our vacation.
The service at reception was exceptional throughout our stay. The staff was consistently friendly, welcoming, and willing to answer our questions and fulfill our needs. Their professionalism and attentiveness left a positive impression on us.
Furthermore, I would like to highlight the dedication of the staff at the bar. Their commitment to providing quality service was evident,This level of care and responsibility made us feel valued as guests.
Another aspect worth emphasizing is the professionalism of the two front desk staff members. Despite the strict checkout time of 10 a.m., your hotel provides the convenience of a warm shower facility downstairs. This is especially beneficial for guests with late evening flights who wish to refresh after spending time at the beach before boarding their planes. The hotel's close proximity to the airport further adds to its convenience, making it an ideal choice for travelers.
Lastly, we were impressed with the quality of the swimming pool water. It was clean and well-maintained, allowing us to fully enjoy our swimming sessions.
Overall, our experience at your hotel was highly satisfying. We appreciate the exceptional service, comfortable accommodations, and convenient location. We highly recommend your hotel to others and look forward to the opportunity to stay with you again in the future.
Thank you for providing us with a memorable stay.

Absolutely fantastic holiday here. We have just returned home yesterday. We arrived at this hotel to the best greeting from SOFIA thank you so much what a fabulous way to start your stay with you. Well done to all the staff everyone always smiling and very attentive to all visitors. This hotel is perfect location for the beach and a short walk to the centre for bars and restaurants. We ate out every night at a different restaurant everyone was amazing. But the best night I had was at the FAMILY restaurant, it was amazing thank you so much, all the restaurants we visited deserve 5stars., but FAMILY you get 6stars absolutely amazing food, atmosphere I highly recommend this restaurant. Also head down to zante old town here you must stop off at the island bar we recommend the cocktails here are fantastic the best in all zante, I've put some of the pictures of our meals. We learnt very quickly that a main course is all you require at the restaurants as the portion size is amazing, you may just manage an ice cream after your meal. I would like to thank Eleanor at the beach pool for always looking after us 5 stars to you for all the hard work you do it was a pleasure meeting you and your family. We are already looking to come back next year. Another place to visit is Delights if your are staying in Kalamaki beach hotel area this is a fantastic place to also eat and have a drink, they have the karaoke on Tuesday and Saturday night. Fabulous time. Look out for the view of the aeroplanes landing, but you also get this amazing experience at the beach. The first holiday we have totally relaxed from start to finish. No rushing for breakfast, sun beds, light lunch, and dinner. Thank you to everyone we met and gave us amazing memories, we will be back.

Hotel Kalamaki Beach is the place to be. Nice and friendly people, wonderful and clean rooms and always service with a smile. Once you arrive it feels like coming home. Nice clean pool and poolbar with lots of free beds runned by Pavlina and her husband and Elena. You can also go to the private beach with taverna restaurant. But the best place for a nice dinner or a late night drink is de Resto Bar in front of the hotel. The lovely and always smiling Natasa does everything to make your stay one in a million. I can’t wait to go back to this hotel, which for me is the best on Zakynthos ❤️❤️❤️

Great location just 50 meters from the beach. The personnel were eager to help, felt protected from covid all the times. The hotel it self was spotless in all locations. Ladies cleaning all public spaces all the time. The pool has a small additional pool for kids. Hospitality wise I was impressed and i am Greek. Food was great. Breakfast was great with quite a lot of options but the same each day. Has 3 other places to get something to eat I the hotel. Poolside, sea side and garden. Highly recommended and perfect for families with children. Glad that I chose to end my vacation with a visit in Zakynthos kalamaki Beach.

Marathonisi Turtle Island is a small forested island located in Zakynthos Marine Park, known for its sandy beach and sea caves that visitors can explore by boat. The island also has significant importance as a nesting site for turtles, hence the name "Turtle Island". It is uninhabited but attracts tourists who enjoy swimming and relaxing on its sandy and rocky beaches. While some people may go turtle watching by boat, it should be noted that chasing after the turtles using boats is not recommended.
It’s a nice place, beautiful blue and clear water, recommended to visit. Lots of fish but no turtle.
The beach isn’t big and usually lots of people.
No toilet option just let you know.
Usually 2-3 boats converted to shop and you can buy drink ,burgers , ice creams ect basic but useful, also the boats is the only option to put your bin out.
If you go to Zakinthos you should visit the island
Zoltán Papp — Google review
You can buy a taxi boat for +€10pp they will drop you on the island and pick you up whenever you want to go back. I've seen some turtles in the water, and didn't visit the actual island as it wasn't part of our trip.
Alicja — Google review
Only if you rent your own boat so you can dive wherever you want and fully enjoy. Otherwise the taxi-boats (starting from 10€/p) will take you for a quick round to the caves and then leave you at the Marathonisi island which would be great if it was not crammed with various kinds of boats. You cannot set your umbrella there so you will get a quick dive and then ride the taxi-boat back. So arrange for your private rental and enjoy the area around and skip Marathonisi beach.

Nice boat trip with swimming stops to the insland. The beaches were very nice and the water was great.
I didn't like though the turtle chasing with the boats.
Sorin Ion — Google review
They call it Turtle island bc there are no constructions by humen(luckily!) No light, No Noise, No human pollution & No enemy, so the best place for turtles to lay eggs. Nice beach but not something special! If you’re lucky you can spot some turtles. But we saw them at the laganas beach! So no need to disturb the nature for tanning on a beach. You could tan in every other beach. Also because tourists don’t pay attention and throw plastic and rubbish on the bech and in the sea! 😤😣🤦🏻♀️
Naz _ Gol — Google review
Beautiful, but not the must-visit everyone claims it is. The beach is surrounded by boats, which makes it quite difficult and dangerous to swim there. Maybe the east side of the island is a better place to go snorkling, but beware of the boats. Do not go to the island to see turtles; I don't think it's very likely to see them there because of the limited swimming possibilities due to the large number of boats. If you want to see turtles, rent a boat!

Laganas Beach is a vast sandy beach located in the busiest resort area of the island. It is a favourite spot for sunbathing and water sports, including scuba diving and snorkeling due to its shallow warm waters with excellent visibility. This beach also serves as the main area for loggerhead turtles to lay their eggs, making it a common sight to see them while swimming here. Laganas Beach offers many surrounding bars and restaurants, making it an ideal destination for those seeking various amenities.
Very crowded if you walk on to the beach though the sand is great and the water shallow. Quite a few places to eat at this end of the beach. Lol many 18 to 30 here and it''s very noisy at night from all the club's, I stayed here years ago on a cheap break and it was good.

We really enjoyed this beach overall. Water was clean and very shallow for kids to play. Beach was fairly clean from what we saw with many Restaurants and Beach Bars near by as well as some water activities for rent as well. We’d definitely return here again some day.

5/5, highly recommend, nice Beach, long but narrow but its not a problem, sunbeds are free for the whole day as long as you order something from the restaurant, either food or drink. Very warm sea, clear and simply beautiful. It is even possible to spot a turtle! One minor issue is that all restaurants are close to each other and the music played can be heard from 3/4 different restaurants.
Lukasz Mamcarczyk — Google review
It's like Bath water. Inbetween the two resorts its crystal clear, shallow beach so safe. Beach shuts at sunset and opens at 7am to leave the loggerhead turtles peace to come ashore and lay their eggs.
Paul Williams — Google review
Amazing beach from the part after the sunbeds towards kalmaki. Perfect for paddle boarding and watching the swa turtels by yourself .and snorkeling. be aware of winds and sea conditions changing very fast from flat and calm to abig mess. I have seen boats passing above sea turtles and putting them in danger. its not clear why motor boats allowed in this part of laganas during nesting season compared with gereka beach which do not even allow kayaks and sup.
benben99 — Google review
I was shocked at the amount of garbage at the beach (in the areas without beach chairs owned by stores) and around the beach. We filled an entire garbage bag with garbage just from the 100 meters of beach that we walked on. Shame on the city. I understand it’s a party town but it’s hypocritical to say you protect sea turtles and sea life and then a beach so close to protected wildlife areas is full of plastic and garbage.

Came here in April, so off peak. Even with all the bars, tattoo parlours and strip clubs shut this remains a grubby, dirty place. I will never return and I recommend you follow suit. Zakynthos is much better than this so go explore.

Nice beach, at eaving you can find turtles. It jas a lot of beach bars, just choose one and enjoj in drinks and sea. It is made of sand and water is really nice to play water sports and swim.
Skala Beach is a vast sandy beach that offers rentable chairs and stunning views. The beach boasts bigger sand grains, clear water, and is located near the charming village of Skala. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from in the village for those looking for something to eat. Sunbeds and bars are available on the beach, but visitors can also bring their own umbrella.
Is a big beach all around Skala.
There are sunbeds and bars but you can bring your own umbrella. There are few people and the water is nice. A good place to relax and take a swim.

Very large beach with pebbles, you might want to have shoes but after few days feet get used to this. Water is crystal clear. Gets deep very quick, which is perfect for us. It's very safe and not too busy. It has showers and changing rooms at a regular intervals.

Very large beach, you can choose to use chairs/umbrella or bring your own. Sand and small pebbles, nice clear water, you can swim in peace. We went to more secluded side (near Milos Beach Bar). A very nice discovery, a beach to just stay all day and relax and a lot of taverns and bars close by, but not overwhelming. Went here mid August.

We just had a stroll on the beach. It is ver long and well equipped. It's got sand and pebbles. Entry in the water is difficult due to the pebbles. Also water deepens pretty quick. We chose not to remain here with the kids.

The small fishing village of Skala sits on the southern tip of Kefalonia, near Mounda Beach. It is known for its beautiful layout and long sandy beach, which is bordered by dense bush hills and rocky outcrops. This unique combination captivates many visitors.
The beach has been awarded the Blue Flag for its cleanness and organization, something that it is still famous for. It gets quite crowded during the summer season but you can still find a secluded spot for some quiet moments.
Skala is ideal for snorkeling while a boat rental service is available at the beach.
On the main street of the settlement, right above the beach are plenty of restaurants and cafes, mini markets and other modern amenities.
Enjoy!

The beach indeed is huge, it is organized here and there, but there is also plenty of space to use if you have your own stuff. The water is super clean, but gets deep quickly. Also worth to have shoes as the stones are hard to walk on. If you are nearby worth to come, to drive 30km as we did, was not worth it.
Lukasz De — Google review
Skala beach is beautiful, it's huge and wide, and has great views. It's at the southern tip of the island it boasts very clear water. The beach, as with most on the island, is a mix of sand and pebbles (water shoes) but it's a wide and long beach with lots of different sections of sun beds and open free beach. The sea bed drops quite quickly to about 4m, it's an open beach so there's not a huge amount of fish to see but it's a decent place for sunbathing and swimming.

We saw Renata boats tours on Google Maps and read all the comments here, so we decided to book a boat trip.
I can recommend Renata boats to everyone who stays on zakynthos!! Renata and her husband are so friendly, she brought us fresh fig fruits from her brother (so delicious) and water and lemonades are free during the trip.
We also saw beautiful places where we were able to swim and snorkel.
If you come to zakynthos island you have to take the boat trip with renata, you will not regret it!

We had a great experience with the Team of Renata aboard her small boat around the Zakyntos Island. The Team was great, many thanks to "Kosta" who provided outstanding explanation, showed the best places around the island, dive with us in a cave, and provided very good comments to all the locations we visited. However, I cannot give 5 stars due to the organization of the trip, which was not in the hand of the Team, but arranged by the Renata's partner. When I booked the trip, the manager arranged and promised for a 5 hours trip, with a fixed amount each (we are family of 5, 2 adults and three kids) for 65,00 euro for adults and kids at the age of 8 or older. I paid what was agreed by phone, but the trip took one hour less. When I asked for reimbursement, the manager replied that due to the closure of the shipwreck beach, the trip took one hour less. The closure of the beach happened two months before our trip, and he did not mention this, and he did not arranged something else before we started. One more, the payment was due by cash and not receipt was provided us. I raise my complain, because the got payment in black. I advice to clarify everything before you go, or perhaps choose another team. There are plenty and Renata's organization is not anymore what was at the beginning, they are common trip boat like others on the island. I am afraid for the Captain who was great, but the organizer are very bad!!!!!

Amazing people to deal with - they treated us like family. The boat tour to the Ship Wreck beach and blue caves was amazing. Renata was on board with us - She was wonderful and offered to click our pictures at every opportunity (some of the pics she clicked were fabulous). During the trip they shared fun facts about the place. We had to go their place first, park our car and then go down to the boarding point in their car. After the trip, they brought us back to their place, and showed us around their farms and vineyards - it was beautiful, later they even offered to us some of their personally made wines. As a parting gift, Renata gave us some home-grown gifts - a bottle of olive oil, a jar of salt and another jar of sweet made from one of the local fruit. We will always cherish this experience for the rest of our lives - it was unforgettable !!

A lovely family owned beach side Kantina. Great food, super friendly service and access to the beach with sun beds and shades. The beach is lovely and the sea shallow for a long distance from the shore.
Xigia Sulfur Beach is a natural spa on the eastern coast, known for its therapeutic properties that help alleviate arthritis and other ailments. The beach is surrounded by dense vegetation and features emerald green waters. It comprises two beaches, both referred to as Xigia Sulfur Beach - one with rocky terrain and a canteen, while the other has white pebbly sand and taverns nearby.
Beautiful place and worth the drive. Yes it smells a bit eggy but you get used to that. Cafe overlooking the beach was great, very busy but huge sandwiches and good service. Steep walk down to the beach which is very rocky so wear shoes. It was very rough when we went so didn't swim but waded and you can definitely feel the difference in the water with the sulphur. Stunning views and worthwhile taking your time to enjoy (most people came, took pics and left).

Very beautiful beach with an amazing water color. There are big waves and lots of rocks, so water shoes are needed as you could easily hurt your feet. I would recommend going there in the morning because later it gets very crowded. The sulphuric smell is not that powerful, but it can be felt. The beach bar is also ok.

Beautiful place! The water smells funny due to the surfer in the water but after doing my research the sulfer in the water helps aches and pains and is amazing for you’re skin! Beautiful beach with “hot spots” in the water from thermal activity. Slight smell of sulphur in the air hence the name. The beach is quite small so get there early. There’s a €2.50 car park charge. Lovely little secluded beach and well worth a visit.

Xigia Sulfur Beach is a beautiful beach but quite small so it's easy for it to feel crowded. The smell of the sulfur is also quite strong, if you're sensitive to that, and the waters murky and not suitable for swimming. We still enjoyed our time here and would recommend it if you're visiting Zakynthos. There is also a small, paid parking lot above the beach (3.50€).
Shulamie Lee — Google review
Not sure why everyone is so crazy in love with this beach. It is super small. Unless you arrive really late or really early, you will not find space. Water is not super clear. Parking is very limited. You can find much nicer beaches around the island.
OceanLover — Google review
This nice beach is located between the rocks and does not have a large capacity, so it is better to get there early in order to take your place on the pebbles or on one of the few umbrellas. There is paid parking that is not expensive, and there is a nice bar on the rock that rises above the beach where you can grab a quick bite to eat or refresh yourself with a drink. One of the options is for them to lower your order via a basket on a wire so that you don't have to climb up. On the beach, and especially in the water, there is a mild smell of boiled eggs, i.e. sulfur that mixes with the seawater on this beach. As the cold water coming from the depths of the earth mixes with the warm sea water you can feel the constant temperature changes. There is also a small cave right next to the beach where you can take pictures for a nice memory.
Marko Živanović — Google review
Small but beautiful beach, The sea is an almost unbelievable light turquoise. This is due in part to the natural spring water that flows into the sea here picking up the sulphur deposits through the rocks. You can actually see the undissolved minerals pouring into the sea in many areas.
A lot of health benefits especially if you have skin conditions.
If you have mobility issue the beach isn’t for you.
Sónia Esteves — Google review
This is a really wonderful beach, but crowded in afternoon. There are sunbeds and umbrellas, but you can put your towels everywhere on the rocks. There is a strange smell due to the specificity of the beach, and bathing in silver jewellery is not recommended as it will turn black.
It could be dangerous for not so good swimmers and children because there are so big waves.
I think this is a good stop for a short bathing.
Also the water is very cold.
Navagio beach in Zante is the poster-child of Greek tourism and is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Situated on the island's northern side, it can only be accessed by boat from ports like Zante Town and Laganas. The beach is nestled inside a small cove and surrounded by towering white cliffs with lush green foliage.
Navagio Beach (Greek: Ναυάγιο, pronounced [naˈvaʝio]), or Shipwreck Beach, is an exposed cove, sometimes referred to as "Smugglers Cove", on the coast of Zakynthos, in the Ionian Islands of Greece. Navagio Beach was originally known as Agios Georgios.
Navagio Beach and wreck of the MV Panagiotis.
On 2 October 1980, the coaster MV Panagiotis, ran aground in the waters around Zakynthos Island on Navagio Beach during stormy weather and bad visibility. Some rumours claim the ship was smuggling contraband; however official sources did not confirm this, and the captain was not convicted for such offences. After the captain alerted the authorities, 29 locals were convicted of looting the cargo and valuable equipment from the wrecked ship. The ship was abandoned and still rests buried in the limestone gravel of the beach that now bears the nickname Shipwreck.Recently released court documents and photos relating to the incident back up the smuggler story. Panagiotis was allegedly making its way from Turkey with a freight of contraband cigarettes headed for Italy. Encountering stormy weather, the ship ran aground in the cove, where the crew abandoned her to evade the pursuing Navy
The location was prominently featured in the hit Korean drama Descendants of the Sun, leading to a surge of interest among Chinese and Korean tourists.
The beach was briefly closed in 2018, and swimming and boat anchoring were forbidden, after a cliff collapse above the beach dropped a large amount of rock. The beach reopened and anchoring is permitted, but with restrictions out of concerns over future landslides.
Also in 2018, the beach was named as the world's best beach in a poll by over 1,000 travel journalists and professionals

Lovely experience tried looking for some of the lost loot couldn't find any so just had a lovely Time on the beach and a dip in the cold but clear beautiful waters

A unique beach, hard to find one more spectacular, with clear blue water, white sand and stone, and a shipwreck. Great for snorkeling, accesible only by boat, în the season can be very crowded with turistic ships.
Marius PETRILA — Google review
Amazing beach, but be aware you can’t swim there and get out of your boat to join the sand.
Tristan Garabedian — Google review
Absolutely beautiful. It is a bit crowded and I would recommend finding a company that uses a smaller boat to get there. And bring shoes. The “sands” is actually pebbles. But the water is amazing. We couldn’t believe we were there.
Brittany Montella — Google review
I honestly don’t know what is the whole fuss about it. Nice pretty little beach that can be only accessed from the sea. The beach is overcrowded with boats and tourists. In order to enjoy it you’ll need to get there before anyone else.
Ross Malickis — Google review
Due note: it's VERY crowded. Yet it's the best beach in Zakynthos, sadly. The blue is unreal. The beach itself is hard to walk on, but you'll manage. There are restricted areas due to falling pieces of rock and some of the ship parts being hazardous, but it's an awesome place to swim. You can get there from any town. From Zante Town the tour was 32 euro and included more than Navagio. Sadly, not every tour lands. The waves can play a trick on you being unable to dock, and that happened once to me as well. Luckily there are enough tours to try again. Sadly, you can't fight weather and you should take it calmly. Having a boat rocking on such a crowded place can cause innumerable incidents. Definitely a MUST if you like to swim in blue waters.

One of the most beaches in the world, turquoise waters, imposing limestone cliffs, and the intriguing shipwreck.
Zongle — Google review
We went there by foot and by boat. I would strongly recommend both ways because they both have a different experience of visiting the wreck.
🚶♀️ By foot: The view was very stunning if you walk a little by the cliffs. I don't recommend walking by the cliffs if you have kids because it's dangerous.
🚤 By boat: We did rent a private boat that's not too expensive, the company is called: Sint Nicholas boat rental. We got a very close view from the wreck. But beware: you can only stay there for 10 minutes by boat because of the many other visitors.
It was a very nice experience that i strongly recommend!!!

Beautiful place, beautiful blue sea. Sadly the beach is closed in 2023 so we could not get out the boat, but it was really nice anyway.
Antisamos beach is a stunning location situated on the eastern side of Kefalonia. It boasts picturesque views of turquoise waters nestled between two wooded headlands and is the second most famous beach on the island. Visitors can relax in this tranquil setting surrounded by green hills and crystal-clear blue-green water. The beach offers both organized sunbeds, umbrellas, a beach bar, and watersports center with fun games for those seeking a more active experience.
Super amazing beach! Sadly there is no sand but… amazing view , blue water , bar , music cocktails and mythos beer 🇬🇷😎 you get served plastic beverages on the beach.

One of the better, cleaner beaches. Younger crowd. Water toy rentals on th far right. Lots of pebbles , make sure to wear water shoes. Not to many waves either. 2 Lounge chairs and an umbrella. $10 euros. Very affordable. Lots of bumble bees and wasps though. Gets extremely crowded.

Absolutely love this beach. Unfortunately it's grown over the past few years.
Starting to be rather commercial.
I prefer it local style & not en mass commercial style, with hiked up pretentious prices.
We tend to stick to the bars at far end as not as 'euro trendy' & loud.
The secret we once loved has now been shared! Probably by people like myself writing fabulous reviews on the beach & such crystal clear waters.
Watching people from their luxury yachts, getting ferried in land. It's a piece of paradise we All want.
Only downside are the wasps! Terrible in high season due to more sticky foods left around I gues....

For me this is a better beach thank Myrtos, here you can take a bath even if you don’t know how to swim. Be careful when you go up from the beach by car, not everyone here is used with narrow streets…

Amazing beach with wonderful service, 20€ of beverage / food mandatory, plus the sunbeds cost that is vary by the row. The last row is free, the middle rows cost 15€ and the first ones is 20€.
Drinks, cocktails, juice and sandwiches are great, there's disco music all day, wc, showers awesome and super comfortable sunbeds with big umbrella. That's really comfortable and enjoyable.

Beautiful place, clean water but from my perspective too organised. In the Acron place you have to order food and drinks, which is Ok, but the staff is very often coming, asking and repeating the rules. In the restaurant the food is tasty but It takes time to be served. You can rent a paddle board

Oh my god, what an amazing beach. The water is lovely, clean, just amazing. The beach is full of beautiful white rocks, they might be little unpleasant. But when you swim into the water you forget that and all you feel is a pure pleasure. Around you is greenery and you are filling amused. Visit it!!!!

Beach has a lot of fishes swimming near the shore, it's great place for snorkeling. Different bars have different conditions for sun beds - solid price or consumption. Myrtos and Petani beaches are better though. Melisani cave is about 15 min drive from Antisamos Beach.

Very beautiful white stoney beach. Free sunbeds were available in Sept, when we visited. The sunbeds are attached to some lovely beach bars with great friendly staff.
The fish can be seen in the clear waters.
Carly J — Google review
Beautiful beach, but a bit busy, a white pebble makes a turquoise sea colour. The sunbeds closer to the sea are for €12 even if you come later in the afternoon, only the last 2 back rows are for free.
Lucy's Indulgence — Google review
One of the most popular beaches on Kefalonia. The beach on Kefalonia with the most content, beach bars with music. There is a huge parking lot in front of the beach. In two bars there are free sunbeds, while in one there are sets for two for 10 Euros. The water is clean, the beach is clean and there are places for towels outside the bars and sunbeds. Definitely those who like beaches with content must come to this beach.

One of the most beautiful beaches in Kefalonia. Calm clear waters, rich in marine wildlife (great for snorkeling), good amenities and good food (the kontosouvli, +++). The only place on the island where we wanted to return for a second day.

Clear blue waters and a great place to spend a day
Jantelagen — Google review
Great beach, beautiful nature but unpleasant and disapointing expirience. 3/4 of the beach are covered with densed sunbeds. One quarter is not cleaned well. There is two water sports points and it is constantly noisy from jetskies and motor boats. There are thoiletes in the restaurants and just a few changing cabins and all the services are linked to restaurants and bars. There is spacious and free parking lot but imidiately on the parking lot , restaurant staff will offer their help. There are diferent policies abaut sunbeds. In the first restaurant sunbeds are 15€ for first two rows and 12€ for others. In the second bar it is writen that sunbeds are free but that means that is your obligation to order whole lunch aproximately arount 30€. SUP for one hour is 20 and kayak the same. Beach is made of pebbles so it is dificult to put your own parasol in the ground. Beach footwear is recomended.
Calypso, located in the picturesque village of Kioni on Ithaca, offers a delightful dining experience. The restaurant's great menu and reasonable prices make it a popular choice for visitors. The friendly and efficient service adds to the overall appeal. Guests praise the delicious seafood dishes, with freshly caught sardines, grilled shrimps, and squid being particular favorites. The location by the harbor provides a perfect setting for enjoying authentic food while receiving warm hospitality from the staff.
Nice restaurant by the port. Features the most popular greek dishes and also traditional local cuisine. The food was delicious and with the sea literally at your feet I wonder if there is anything else one could ask for.

We visited Kioni on a boat tour of Ithaca. This was our lunch stop and the village is stunning. We chose Calypso to eat as they had a great menu that really wasn't overpriced given the location.
The service was friendly, attentive and efficient and the food absolutely delicious. We all tried something different and there were no complaints. If you don't finish the bread provided (this was lovely too) save and feed the fish in the harbour!
Would definitely eat here again if I'm ever visiting.

Traditional dishes (even if the plate arrived just a second after I ordered it, sounds strange).
We were billed x person for bread even if we didn’t order it.
Looks more expensive than other places in the island (even for basic items as water, bread etc).

Needless to say the views and location are wonderful. However, that’s about it with this restaurant. SERVICE: examples of inadequate service includes things like bringing a salad without a spoon and we had to ask for it … or bringing the food out without silverware having to wait looking at your food. The people were always available to help when asked.
FOOD: for the $$$ we had to pay food was very disappointing - overcook the meat, very small salad portions to share, over saucing the food covering any potential taste. WINES: steer away from any reds as they’d are kept outside of a wine refrigerator, get hot during the day and when served, though they were placed on ice, were bad to taste.

We have been coming to Calypso for five years and each time it never fails to delight. The owner and staff welcome us like family, always finding time for a chat and give us the best table possible. The seafood is freshly caught, the sardines are perfect, grilled with lemon. The grilled shrimps and squid are incredible, I have yet to taste better ones! The shrimp pasta and seafood orzo, cooked in ouzo and tomato sauce with a little parsley is so fragrant, with a delicious fennel and anise flavour, a delight to taste! The orange cake, cooked by kiria Xenia herself is their signature desert, refreshing with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
The location is amazing, on the quieter end of the harbour, looking across the bay to the windmills, with a refreshingly gentle breeze on a hot night. Definitely worth adding kioni to your itinerary for this restaurant.

Our favourite taverna in Kioni. Ate here a number of times and every meal was lovely. Attentive staff even when they’re rushed off their feet. Loved their Calypso salad and their Groat salad. Fabulous Greek food in a beautiful place. Excellent, genuinely friendly and welcoming service. Really helpful with gluten-free needs. This, for me, was the best of the three restaurants in Kioni which serve traditional Greek food.
Drogarati Cave is a must-see attraction in Kefalonia, offering guided tours through its impressive chambers filled with stalactites, stalagmites, and limestone formations. The cave's large chamber boasts incredible acoustics and has even been used as a concert venue. Discovered in the 18th century after an earthquake revealed its entrance, this enchanting cave has been open to the public since 1963.
Definitely visit.. really incredible place. So stunning!! Very good price and if you are visiting the Melissani cave as well there is a discount but it’s only 5€ to go in which is well worth it. There are a lot of steps but it’s well lit and manageable. It can take as long as you want and there is no need to wait for tour times.

Amazing cave structure. Take a coat or jumper as it can drop to 16/17 degrees but still fine for some.
Steps can be a little narrow (take care when passing) - cave is not pushchair or wheel chair accessible.
Phil Hutchison — Google review
Amazing, never seen something like that. And well organized. Unfortunately I have seen multiple tourists literally hanging on stalactites to be photographed, what a shame. I would encourage more control and perhaps a fine to who touches stalactites and stalagmites or through coins in the little spaces died with water.
Cecilia Ruberto — Google review
Very nice, impressive cave with stalactites and stalagmites (some apparently broken). Just one, but large chamber. Not very cold inside (+18°C), a bit slippery but not too much thanks to the carpets on the floor. There are 135 steps from the ground to the cave entrance + additional 43 to the bottom of the cave, so climbing back may be a bit challenging for elderly people.
Andrzej Daniluk — Google review
An interesting cave. You will certainly cool down nicely after waiting in line for the entrance. It should be noted that although there are about 200 steps to the cave, it is not difficult to go down or climb up. And of course be careful when walking, everything is wet. Be sure to wear non-slip footwear.
Anita Spasic — Google review
For people who struggle to walk I definitely wouldn't recommend it. As there is 120 steps down and up.. But once you're down there your bathed in the beauty of stalag mites and you can imagine a concrete as the cave echo beautifully ❤️

Drogarati Cave is a must-see for any visitor to Kefalonia. This impressive cave is home to a variety of amazing stalactites and stalagmites, as well as a large chamber with incredible acoustics.
The cave was discovered in the 18th century after an earthquake caused a collapse that revealed the entrance. It was opened to the public in 1963 and has been enchanting visitors ever since.
The cave is about 60 meters deep and has a constant temperature of 18 degrees Celsius. The humidity is also high, so it's a good idea to bring a light jacket.
The tour of the cave takes about 30 minutes and takes you through a variety of different chambers. You'll see stalactites and stalagmites of all shapes and sizes, as well as some impressive geological formations.
One of the highlights of the tour is the Chamber of Exaltation. This large chamber has amazing acoustics and has been used for concerts in the past.
If you're looking for a unique and unforgettable experience, then Drogarati Cave is a must-visit. It's a truly magical place that will leave you in awe.

Part 2 of your Melissani cave experience. As you drive in, you should be able to find plenty of free parking. This comes gratis from the hotel (with pool) that is right next door to the cave! The gift shop is extensive, and actually puts Melissani's to shame. There is also a bar and a big fridge section with a massive range of refreshing soft drinks. We got something to quench our thirst and made our way down to the entrance of the cave. We got in with the paid receipt we had from Melissani where we got a reduced rate for both caves (€10 per adult, €7 per child).
Be prepared to go down a good number of stairs that will lower you into the cool bowels of Drogarati cave.
The visual aura is impressive when you are in. The biggest size of stalagmites and stalactites take tens of thousands of years to form! Very impressive. I always wondered if Gothic architecture borrowed from nature when it emerged as a style. The inside of the cave reminded me of this! Everything is well lit for you to comfortably see. This place is a must see, especially for people never having experienced this before.
Probably the only downside of this fascinating experience is the long flight of stairs to get back up to the entrance. You will be winded. Wear sensible shoes folks!

Book with the melissina Lake for a discount. The caves were good, but will not take long to go round. You can take advantage of the reasonably priced cafe for a lovely lunch or wood fired pizza and a dip in their free pool to make the experience worth while.
Melissani Cave is a natural wonder in Kefalonia that visitors must see. Boats take tourists through the cave which features a stunning lake with crystal-clear waters. The unique feature of this cave is the mixing of fresh and sea water. Entry to the cave requires a small fee, and it is recommended to visit during summer between 11 am and 1 pm for optimal sunlight illumination.
If you visit Kefalonia, you should also visit this wonder of nature. The cave is amazing, here the sea water is being mixed with fresh water. You visit the cave by a boat.
You have to pay a small fee to enter the cave, and try to visit the cave, when the sun is at the right spot, so sunlight is coming directly into the cave (I think between 11.00 and 13.00 hours, during summer).

30 Min from Argostoli, you will find this cave near the road to Sami. My advice is to buy the ticket for both Drogarati and Melissani cave, that costs only 10€. The place is magnificent, a cold cave with bright blue water. The ticket includes a 10 Min ride in a small boat, with a local guide that explains the origin of the place. Definitely a must see if you are in Kefalonia. We went there at 2pm and there was no queue (and the place is cold so it's amazing to have a break from the summer heat!)

It's quiet. You can hear the birds and a distant rooster calling. Once there you will pay 8 euros per adult for access and boat ride to the cave. A short steep walk down to the lake and there you will be greeted by friendly staff who take you around this wonderous cave encrusted with stalactites and stalagmites and this deep apphire Mediteŕanean blue waters. 💙

Great place with special flair. We were there in the afternoon so there where almost no people. But even if there were no people waiting our guide did the shortest program possible. We were out after 10 mins. So that was disappointing. Because just being there and enjoying the good cool air and accoustics is really great.

Very beautiful cave with interesting play of colours, but I have seen more beautiful. This cave is so called the highlight of the island Kefalonia. So that you have to wait about 1/2 hour is OK, the price is also OK. But the time in the cave is too much short (our was like 5 maximal 8 minutes). Our boat guide was talking almost only Greek (and I can speak Greek, but there were other people too), very with low voice, very quickly, and his English was so bad, that I didn't understand. He didn't tell anything about the geomorphology, nothing about history, nothing about the depth of the cave. Only thing he was saying repeatedly was that the water comes somewhere from watermills in Argostoli. If I didn't read something about the cave the night before and if I didn't ask the guide some questions, it would be really terrible for me. He even didn't take us to the very end of the cave. So it's a very commercial place with no information value. I would minimal appreciate, if the guide is so bad, if there would be something like museum or information about the cave which could you read meanwhile you're waiting for the tickets. It was little bit waste of time for me. I've seen more beautiful caves with or without water and for free in my life.

Melissani Cave is a great destination for a short stop on your way, don't get me wrong it's stunningly beautiful if you get your timing right but it doesn't take much time to complete. However it's very reasonable, especially if you combo ticket for the other caves.
If you visit between 11am and 2pm there will be blue water, if you arrive at high noon the whole pool will be blue. However the car park will be hugely busy.
The gift shop is a bit tatty and the toilets were locked when we visited at 11:15 though, hence the dropped star.

We went on high season, at 12:00 so the time were the caves are very full … there was a line were we waited approx 30 mins. However contrary to the other comments I didn’t thing that the line was annoying. There is umbrella so you don’t wait in the sun. If you have good company the line doesn’t seem that long.
The experience : amazing !! It felt like a Disneyland activity. It was awesome !! Something I never saw. Okay it was a bit short but it was enough, plus the staff is super friendly !! They do the tour all the day for tourists but they still are super fun, trying to divert you… 100% worth the wait !!

From all the places we visit, this was the busiest. As some people have mentioned, hoards of tourists arriving in buses while we were in the queue. Everybody wants to get the best light, which is usually between 12-1pm.
Be ready to have cash, we've had a couple of instances where we couldn't pay with a card as the network wasn't available.
The boat ride is ten minutes long.
I loved it personally!
I've never been to a "cenote" before and this was my closest experience.
It is a really magical place, if you look closely you can see the bats sleeping and eels swimming around. The colour of the water is pristine.

Very beautiful and a must. You wait I’m line through these cave tunnel then you emerge into this large open ceiling cave with stunning water so clear it looks shallow when in reality it’s 50 metres deep. You go on a little hand rowed boat ride around and into the large cave and back around. It doesn’t run long but it’s super fun and just really beautiful to see.

Really beautiful place. You can park for free around the spot, then you have to pay 7€ per person to be able to enter. You’ll be with 6-8 people on a small bark, the trip took 10 minutes, there is not much to see : a lake with the whole above, and then stalactites in another part of the lake. Worth the jump in especially if you go around 12h to have the sun above you. Watch out there were some kind of snakes underwater and big spiders on the wall.

We enjoyed the short trip. The entrance is 8 euro per adult and if you plan to visit Drogarrati cave you can buy a 10 euro ticket for both. Otherwise for the cave you will have to pay 5 euro.
There was a queue but everything was fast and we hadn’t have to wait more than 5 to 10 minutes.
Inside there are some very friendly guys which give you the roundtrip and they make you pictures. We enjoyed the trip, we saw an eel(fish) and we considered a good value for the money we paid.

Another thing that we didn't like is you just get ~10 min round on the boat, and that's it.

Visited: June 21, 2023.
The queue (line) to get in was torturous, it wrapped around the building and into the bus parking area. There were several bus loads of cruise ship passengers and no shade until the last ten meters before the ticket desk.
Tip: Bring a sun shade umbrella if possible and consider a bottle of water for the queue as mandatory. Also, if you find a day when the cruise ships don't come to Kefalonia you will probably have a much better experience.
It would be nice if the operators extended the shading during the busy season, we were here at the start of the season, way before it gets really busy, and were in the queue for at least 40 minutes before getting under the shade.
In the cave the temperature drops quickly. the deeper you traverse the tunnel the cooler it gets. At the end of the tunnel is the lake where you are taken onto a boat and guided across the lake and around the small island with a group of 8 to 16 people plus the boat pilot. The trip across the lake and around the remains of the island is about ten minutes from the time every is seated to the time you arrive back at the 'dock'.
The underground lake was visually stunning. You will probably have seen images of it on Google but it is really worth experiencing in person (keep in mind the cautions from the start of this review), you get the smells, sounds, feel, and spectacular visuals of which photos only show you a small slice.
History & mythology:
The cave has an interesting history that includes being a place of worship for the God Pan, the God of shepherds, flocks, open spaces, and sex. Archaeologists found evidence of worship on the island in the cave after the earthquake of 1953. The boat pilot spent time chatting and telling us some interesting facts about the cave as it is now, but what we really wanted was to hear about the history and mythology surrounding the cave.
