I recently stayed at Folies Hotel in Corfu and I must say, it was a truly fantastic experience. The rooms were incredibly spacious, clean and comfortable, making me feel right at home. The owners were also incredibly kind and accommodating, always willing to help and offer recommendations. But perhaps my favorite part was the beautiful pool - the perfect place to relax and soak up the sun. Overall, I highly recommend Folies Hotel and can't wait to return!

Lovely enclosed resort with access to a pool. Bar is open from 9-5, and rooms were spacious and well presented

We stayed in the hotel for 7 nights. We were lucky to be in the new part of the buildings, which were really nice, with a terrace, spacious room. and view on the small pond. The room service cleaned our apartment every 2 days, including the change of towels and blankets. The position of the hotel was good for visiting other locations and beaches, as there were enough car parks available. The garden was well maintained :)
However, there are some things which could be improved:
- The service at the reception could be a bit more informative about what to visit.
- The kitchen appliance is missing, like an oven, toaster and spoon for cooking.
- The pool itself was not clean enough and some spotlights are literally digging in the pool (see pictures). The sunbeds were mainly broken or in a bad state. The pool towels which were promised on the booking platform were not provided.
- It was cool, that the hotel had a bar service but the prices were too high and it closed too early, since there were not so many bars in the surroundings.
All in all we enjoyed our stay there and hope that the staff will work on our suggestions! :)

So so. Good enough to have a place to lay your head down but is not close to anything, if you are walking. I booked one night here to visit Old Town and had a flight out in the morning. Neither are close. It was 10€ to Old Town and 15€ to the airport by taxi (5 min rides) but are difficult to get for short distances in Corfu. The hotel staff were helpful but the hospitality felt sterile. Imagine interacting with an airline customer service agent. Nothing memorable to write home about.

The service was great, everyone was kind, but the rooms were really cold and dimly lit. The heaters in our rooms didn't work. We asked for help, and they sent someone who tried to fix it, but it was still cold. They gave us a key to a different room, but that room's heat also didn't work well. In addition, We had 3 minutes of hot water in the shower. Afterwards, anyone who wanted to shower had to use lukewarm water.
We chose to stay there because of its adjacency to the ferry in the morning to mainland Greece and the cheap price, but we probably would not go back due to the heating problem.

Good stay for family but a bit off the city.
The rooms are comfortable with a kitchen (we have not tried it), and the pool is very enjoyable (the bar is overpriced, 6€ for 2 untasty coffees, I would recommend having breakfast elsewhere).
Service is poor, the bathroom was dirty with stains on the WC, when we reported it to staff they did not apologize. No help with luggage was offered when we were shown the room.
Antoine Avdb — Google review
Nice hotel with pool and very clean interior. The room was with some minor problems, smoke smell, broken door, no kitchen towel. More major problem was that the sofa bed in the living room was broken, the boards kept falling out. In the end disappointing

Caution! Don't book!!
UPDATE:
Why the staff in your review reply are trying to portray you as a liar should put you off booking!
There are witnesses to the whole incident, the ID was not forgotten. The guests' passports are systematically retained.
It's really sad how you're dealing with being busted instead of just apologizing and handing over the passport! But no, they lie, yell on the phone and threaten me to delete the review immediately. All this is very striking and sad.
Your hotel is highly unprofessional, dangerous and steals data! Plus don't forget the countless bugs in your rooms.
If you want to have a nice and above all safe time in Corfu, you should avoid this hotel!
Frist Review:
The staff will confiscate your passport at check-in (which is illegal). The Passport never be forgotten by us! We announced our check-out again the night before, but the reception was unmanned in the morning. The passport was not issued! Now the hotel does not want to send the passport and illegally keep it! Absolutely not trustworthy!
it cannot be ruled out that the personal sensitive data will be misused by the hotel.
Otherwise they would simply forward them accordingly!

Hotel not recommended! Arriving on August 9, 2023, I immediately noticed some inefficiencies in the toilets. Specifically (as documented by the attached photos) absence of glass in the shower cubicle, defect of the shower head and floor drain completely raised and easily movable. I immediately requested a change of apartment but it was not granted to me and so I requested immediately and also in the following days the resolution of the problems exposed but they did not proceed. These problems caused, during the shower, water to leak from the shower itself and from the floor drain; water that inevitably settled all over the bathroom floor. In addition, the cleaning of the apartment did not take place regularly every day but only after urging the staff. On August 16, 2023, leaving the facility, I spoke to one of the managers asking for a small refund for the inefficiencies, I waited for a response from them for days, contacting them several times on the phone but to no avail. At this point I reported everything to the booking customer service and through them I learned that my refund request had been refused. Shame!
I respond to your comment, adding the following to my review:
Do you dare to answer like this? Who do you think you're kidding? You have not solved any problem, as shown by the attached photos, taken in the days following our arrival; if I had been satisfied at the end of my stay I certainly would not have asked your manager Petros for a refund for the inefficiencies. At least have the decency not to make fun of tourists with these answers.

I don’t recommend the hotel. The room was nice, but there was a problem with toilette and there was a stinky smell coming out from it. I asked to do something about it and the staff didn’t react. It’s a lot of noise from the airport, but that okay. It’s nearby. I asked for check out 1 hour later and I was told not possible. Although the hotel is not fully booked and it’s end of the season. I won’t come back.

This hotel is beautiful. A nice pool, the staff are just so friendly and kind, accommodating! I actually booked 1 night here last minute to escape an awful hotel I had been staying in. Check in for Folies is usually 3pm but they so kindly check us in at 12pm. The bar wasn’t open but it is early May not quite in season. The room was modern, clean, comfortable and just perfect! Truly grateful to have found this hotel after a few days of unpleasant stays elsewhere. Would 100% recommend this place.

Very good place. Friendly staff and very nice place! Good cocktail's in the bar which are near the pool. Thank you for good time here! Good vacation!

DO NOT BOOK HERE.
Update: When the staff in your review reply are trying to portray you as a liar should put you off booking!
Unprofessional.
I booked for 3 nights at this hotel. To sum up: terrible it was a nightmare. We had several problem in a more than antique room. No solution from the reception. Moreover and the worst, they are allegedly lying to us saying that they are going to change the room and when we arrive it’s not possible anymore. The “manager” said that we can have a refund when we ask for the refund they said “we are going to call the police”. They went that far to call the police on us when we are 3 girls just asking to be treated with respect and according to the money we pay. We also in defense had to call the police because they dragged us outside of the hotel and we were treated so badly, I have never experience that in my life. Do not come here because you’ll be treating really badly and they are so many nice people in the island of Corfu but not at Folies.
Bad services: terrible room not look like the pictures. The AC working bad and water on the floor. Room smell humidity and mod. Kitchen dirty and so ancient. WC not flushing. A lot of insects in the room. WIFI not working not even 4g. The pool is dirty. The toilets of the pool are dirty. The sun beds are all broken.
Béatrice Bordy — Google review
We stayed there for 2 weeks. The rooms, whole settlement and the people are very nice. The bar/cafe is not good enough when compared to the other nice stuff. We rented a car and visited beaches all around, which was easy considering the location of the hotel. You can stay there without hesitation. Ps: you need to do sth about that rooster, it is not ok to yell at 5 am every time :)

We stayed in one of the apartments the first 3 nights. They are super old and in need of tlc!
Lots of ants, shower didnt have a rail, aircon leaking etc.
We moved to one of the new rooms for last 3 nights. This was because the same apartment wasnt available the entire stay the studio was much better! Nice, clean modern. Although there was construction work out back making a noise from 8/9am. It sounded like they were in the room it was do bad! Not great ...
The apartments are outside old town but we found the public buses reliable ( although the seem to move to hourly later in day). Its not easy to get to the nicer beaches via public transport so to stay here you probably need a car or just stay near the other beaches. It is close to the airport though which is a bonus. Limited restaurants near by but there are supermarkets and bakery
Has a pool - nothing fancy! No umbrellas to shade from sun and lots of broken loungers. Pool bar defo wasnt 24/7, served limited food and the guy manning it was miserable.
Katie Cockburn — Google review
Very nice and clean apartment. Well designed with 2 balconies. The territory and the pool are inundated with green, flowers, trees and grass. 🌸 There is a bar next to the pool were you can order drinks and food. 🌅 The position of the hotel is 10 min in bus from old town. 1,5 km from bus station, 2 km from airport, but…. There is only a bus line that deserves that area. Buses 1 in an hour. ‼️ Very difficult to go to the airport or bus station. You should always call a taxi!

"Are you far from the river?". Our trip to the River Acheron was the highlight of our recent holiday in Parga. It is a truly extraordinary experience which I will never forget. The water is refreshingly cold and it gets so deep at points at the Gorge that you may have to swim. There is also rafting, kayaking and horse riding. There are plenty of places to eat in Acheron, beautiful open-air stores and bathroom facilities.

Great experience for everyone.
Waters are cold at the start , but after awhile it does not matter. If you want to reach the end do not bring a bag with you because there is a spot that you must swim for about 29 meters and your stuff will be soaking wet. Rafting is for the kids as the river is so slow !!!

1 star. I was having a good time at this river when this weird electronic music started playing and a guy who kept calling himself zoink started chasing me. I almost died trying to jump over these 4 spikey rocks but somehow made it with this picture-frame perfect leap. the guy kept spouting nonsense about "the thermodynamics of club monsters" and "doggie smashes his keyboard" until I finally got away from him. I got back to my car at one point, and as soon as I was about to step in, I heard some shout "RATE MY LEVEL ROBTOP" off in the distance. overall bad experience.

Impresive gorges near Nidri. We visited at the end of September and they were not crowded. The waterfall was almost dry but you could still take a bath at it's base.

We went there in september, and there is no water. I heard that the best time is in may or june. Where you park you need to walk around 10-15 min.

Very nice and climatic place. You need to walk around 10-15 minutes to reach the place from the parking place. There is a lot of people be aware. I had a plan to get into the water while being there, but when I reached the destination I decided not too. The waterfall is too small (not enough rain) and water is simply dirty as there is not enough to run fast.
Lukasz De — Google review
There is a beautiful natural path that you have to walk to find this waterfall. It is an easy path so you will not get tired. In summer there is not so much water but if you go in spring it is magnificent. There is a parking place at the entrance and also you will find a cafe that you can sit.

It is indeed spectacular, but the pathway leading there can be narrow and slippery. Be warned.

Casual beachfront hotel featuring airy accommodations, plus 2 open-air restaurants with bars.
Stayed for 2 night's in October, end of season and quiet which worked well for us, staff were lovely and helpful. Lovely Hotel with amazing views of the beach, booked and paid for a sea view room with a balcony. Room was clean, shower quite low down and had to hold to use. Lots of sun loungers around the pool and beach. Lovely breakfast included with an omlette bar. 10 min walk to Praga along the beach but up a steep hill with steps. Ate in restaurant and food was fine. Had a great stay here.

I would like to draw attention to the ''chair manager - Νικος'' on the beach , to work on communication and improve it. Each guest is important and should be respected.
Namely, I had a really bad situation in which the ''chair manager'' was very rude to me.
I wanted to move to chairs that were closer to the sea, after one family left and they were empty. He showed up behind my back, I didn’t even understand he was a worker there and he just told me ,,this is busy now!'' Without any Hello or some introduction/explanation.
I asked why? He boldly replied - ,,Because I'm the manager here and I can do whatever I want!"
Additionaly, we left €20 even if we didn't spend that money on drinks because our bill didn't amount that much but as a cultural guest I followed the bar rule.
By the way our chairs was in the 3rd row. If your policy is not to accept guests who are not from the hotel or you have some rules, inform everyone nicely, with cultural behavior.
Really really bad for the beach bar imagine!
Thanks

Our hotel cancelled our room last minute. We were offered a room at Valtos Beach Hotel and did not regret. Perfect hotel, friendly staff! One little minus: I can live perfectly whitout wifi, but if You provide it in the room, than it has to work. No wifi is less anoying than bad wifi. But hey, we are on holiday, so we did not bother and went to the perfect beach of the hotel (were the wifi is working excellent)
Banana beach is a vast expanse of sandy shore perfect for swimming and outdoor activities. The beach offers loungers, umbrellas, and various water sport options to keep visitors entertained. It's a cosmopolitan hub with a nearby bar that caters to all age groups. For those who prefer privacy, the smaller Plaka Beach is just a stone's throw away.
Banana Beach & Casa Playa Restaurant are the best! We enjoyed the place so much, that we came back for a second time. The food at the restaurant was very good and the staff very attentive.
The sunbeds are pretty cheap (10€ for 2 basic sunbeds + umbrella or 15€ for 2 wooden sunbeds + umbrella).
I totally recommend if you are looking for a sand beach with clear and beautiful water.

The golden sand is the signature of this beach.
Here you can find all you need; from bars to peace. Like all sandy beaches, it is quite shallow with the perfectly warm water. Price for sunbeds goes from 12€ to 50€.

Amazing Beach with beautiful white sand, different types of sunbeds and a highclass Restaurant / Bar.
The sea is very shallow, the first 2 or 3 meters in water are stony. Also available all kind of watersport activities for fair prices. Our positive surprise was clearly the high quality of food in the restaurant, slightly elevated with nice view on the beach. The food is not necessarely only greek style rather then international cuisine - octopus risotto and chicken burrito accompanied by a nice bottle of Möet Chandon Ice rosé and our day was saved.
Nice chilling background music at the beach (with live DJ) and drink / food service at sunbed. I guess this is the best equiped beach at Zakynthos!
Robert Skrobak — Google review
Private beach. They offer you 2 types of sunbeds and 3 types of umbrellas (one is a wood structure with curtains in front of the beach). The less expensive is 10€ 2 sunbeds and 1 umbrella for alla day, the 2nd 20 euros that we chose the 2 times that have been there because we were ok with the umbrella and the sunbeds were the same for the 30€ and 40€ offer. You can't bring drinks and food from the outside because you have to order from their bar. I have to admit that here we ate the best and the most delicious Greek salad on the island (maybe there is another place but this is a 10+). We also ate a souvlaki and desserts. The salted caramel brownie was the best I have eaten in my life and the yogurt with honey is illegal. You have to come here once. The bar has an exotic atmosphere, the guys that work there have a uniform that reminds me of Bali and they are kind. I also love the sand beach a lot because of it's low water till 50/60 m far away. There is a shower and also toilets.
For me is a go and I advice you to go there. I can't believe that someone can be disappointed.
If you want to go to a similar place that has "no rules" you can go to the old Alykanas Beach.
Best wifi on the island

The crystal-clear waters were a sight to behold, inviting me to take a dip and bask in their refreshing embrace. The gentle waves were perfect for swimming, and the absence of strong currents made it an ideal spot for families and travelers of all ages. Snorkeling enthusiasts also had a treat, as the waters were teeming with colorful marine life just waiting to be explored.
Beyond its natural beauty, Banana Beach was well-equipped with all the amenities one could need for a comfortable and enjoyable day by the sea. Beachside loungers and umbrellas provided the perfect spot to relax and soak up the sun. The beach bar served up a delightful selection of tropical cocktails and refreshing beverages, making it easy to stay hydrated and indulge in some beachside treats.

The soft golden sand and crystal-clear turquoise waters create a stunning backdrop for relaxation and sunbathing. One of the highlights of Banana Beach is the variety of water sports activities available, including jet skiing, paddleboarding, and banana boat rides, adding an element of fun and adventure to the experience. The beachside tavernas offer delicious local cuisine and refreshing drinks, allowing you to indulge in a delightful seaside dining experience. What sets Banana Beach apart is its untouched and serene atmosphere, making it the perfect escape from the crowds. Nice sandy beach, the water entrance is long and also sandy, some pebbles near the water front. There are a few beach bars for food and drinks, umbrellas and sunbeds to hire from 12 to 30 Eur, and also free sand lots for sunbathing, a watersports operator is also present hire.

The beach is notably unclean, with a lack of maintenance along the waterline. The initial two meters of the shoreline are strewn with uncomfortable stones that can be painful to step on. Additionally, there's an 18 euro charge per person for a sunbed, and strict rules prohibiting bringing outside food or drinks; you're limited to what they serve. Given these conditions, I'd recommend heading to Gerakas Beach, which is not only cleaner with a sandy shore but also offers more freedom and affordability.

Fine sand and a long beach. entering the water is easy, there are some small pebbles at the entrance, but otherwise fine sand. after 5 meters the water drops and a portion is only 50 cm deep, a good place for water games. The beach is suitable for children and for the smooth entry into the water, but also for the fine sand with which you can build shapes in the sand. there are blanket areas where you can sit quietly, but also sunbeds with service from the nearby bar, which will vary in 2023 from 10 eur to 20 eur. A beach worth visiting and a huge parking area with shades.

Beach is nice, a bit rocky at start but after that it’s sand. Water was very wavy but it’s clean and clear. There’s nothing too much to do just to chill. Music was house / lofi so very relaxing and we played volleyball in the sand.
Cheapest sun beds are 6€ per person but they are way in the back, the ones upfront are 20-30-40€ and you can order food/drinks

I think this is the most beautiful beach on the island ( if you want to have all the facilities ). The price for 2 seats and one umbrella is 10 euros. You can order there food and drinks. They have a restaurant, showers, lounge areas in the grass. The entrance is on an alley that is full with bloomed flowers. If you are a city girl/boy then this is your beach to go on Zakinthos island. I really recommend. There is also a parking space.
Butrint National Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Albania, is a remarkable olive-shaded site that houses Greek, Roman, and medieval remnants. The park's archaeological significance dates back to the Iron Age and offers an authentic experience with unrestricted access to the ruins. It features diverse points of interest from various historical periods including Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Venetian eras.
Interesting place to visit, and access to the site is pretty unrestricted allowing you to explore as much as you want. Even if you aren’t interested in archaeology the views are worth the entrance fee (1000 lek)
You can get a bus here from Ksamil (100 lek) or Sarande (150 lek). This runs hourly, leaving at xx:30 from both Sarande and Butrint.

Awesome place!
We went at about 10am to avoid the heat and also meant we were there without the crowds that appeared as we were leaving at about 12:30. Took us about an hour and a half to walk through the whole place, useful paper guide in English as well. Highly recommend making the journey out!

Very beautiful place to visit, the viator tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and shows you around, there are toilets at the start and top part of the trail. There are many ruins and beautiful scenery. There is a fair sized car park at the start of the trail which is opposite a lovely restaurant which provided lunch for our tour. The trails are not suitable for wheelchair users or those with impaired abilities.

Easily done in a couple of hours, map easy to follow. Lots of buzzing around which are the insects as it is quite swampy so ideally cover arms and legs!
Visited in April, very quiet but I can imagine peak times it is busy!
Little wooden ferry next door to the ruins of the castle, 75 lek one way worth a ride

Lovely place to spend half a day or so wondering around the ruins through the trees enjoying the shade.

This place is full of history. Strategic location made this area important throughout the years, dating back to neolithic age. You will find some good spots to take some nice photographs and learn about the history of this site. You can cross to the other side with a small nostalgic ferry.

Great place to visit and learn about history and coexistence. Well preserved!
Restrooms were well kept and clean. The only two things, in my opinion, that need to improve are the upgarde all signs to include more information and langauges. Also, the self-service for the prices that are charging needs to maintain the cleanliness of the place well. For the amount of what they they charge, this should be the minimal improvement.

This place is well worth a visit if you have any interest in history, archeology and/or culture. It's excavation has revealed an incredible progression through ancient Greek, Roman, Norman, Byzantine, Venetian and more civilisations in time. The additional construts are explained clearly in the different areas, and the learning and explanations of this has evolved and is also explained. The €10 in my perspective is well worth it, especially if you have traveled some distance to come to Albania.

Excellent well-preserved historical site, where you can touch the walls and as a matter of speaking hug the statues. The area is very quiet, with lots of trees and beautiful views of the surroundings. Spent 2hours discovering this area. Entrance= 1000lek

Even after visiting many ancient sites in Turkey, Greece, Italy, and many other countries, this one is unique in its own way. It's beautiful hiking back through the forest, and it's small enough to be able to visit but large enough to not get bored.

100% recommend, so cool. Worth the ticket money, this place would cost so much more in other European countries.
Learn about the history and see really awesome ruins. Good walk (2h?) but not hard. Super cool.
So many little turtles in the water by the theatre and in some other locations ❤️

100% worth the visit, it’s really and interesting archeological site to know more about Albanian history. You can park the car just at the entrance, it seems crowded, but people arrive and leave constantly. The entrance is 1000 LEK.

it offers a nice stroll through the history of this place. We arrived shortly after 9 (opening time), was not too busy, even parked in the shade (free parking).
Bring cash for the tickets, but you can use the cards for the refreshments in the bar.
Bring a bottle of water, it gets hot though most of the walking pathway is in the shade.

The best site to visit in Albania. It combines nature, hiking, picnic and historical interest. The museum is excellent as it presents information well. Toilets at cafe near the museum.
Docking one point as the famous mosaic floor was totally covered and the cafe could have more items. The restaurant just outside the site, near the bus stop is very good though.

The visit to Butrint National Archaeological Park truly stands out as a remarkable experience. Exploring this historical site offers a captivating journey back in time, allowing you to witness an array of ancient buildings and constructions that date back thousands of years. While the remains may not always be fully intact, they provide a fascinating glimpse into the lives of those who inhabited this area in ancient times. To truly appreciate Butrint, one must be prepared to engage their imagination and piece together the rich history from the fragments that remain.
What makes Butrint even more compelling is the tapestry of civilizations that have called this place home over the centuries. From the Romans and Byzantines to the Ottomans, the layers of history are palpable as you wander through this archaeological wonderland. It's a testament to the enduring significance of this site throughout the ages.
In terms of admission, the prices are reasonable, with a standard fee of 1,000 Lek (equivalent to 10 euros) per person. If you're traveling with a group of 12 or more people, you can enjoy a discounted rate of 800 Lek per person.
One of the park's standout features is its natural surroundings. The abundance of trees provides ample shade, making it a comfortable destination even on sunny days. This harmonious blend of history and nature creates a truly unique and awe-inspiring atmosphere that sets Butrint apart.
In conclusion, a visit to Butrint National Archaeological Park is a must for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. It offers a window into the past, allowing you to traverse the footsteps of ancient civilizations amidst the tranquility of nature. While you may need to engage your imagination to fill in the historical gaps, the experience is undeniably amazing and well worth the visit.

Historical site worth visiting. You can wonder around at your own pace and see ruins from Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Venetian and Ottoman civilisations. You can easily spend 2-3hrs wondering around. I would recommend starting at the museum. 1000 Lek entry fee.

Great place if you love Roman history and ancient architecture. They have maps in a range of languages and it's a very beautiful place to visit.

Stunning archaeological site with various different points of interest from various different points of history. Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Venetian. This is a must when in Albania.
The down point is it isn't very well signposted, so I would recommend trying to book a guided tour.
The real star of this place is the location. It's a lagoon meeting the sea through a narrow channel at the site, with the various colours of the water in different points backed by the mountains in the background.
5 stars alone for the site. But the natural beauty is phenomenal.
Simply wow.

A breathtakingly stunning place. Beautiful azure sea, lush landscape, historical ruins from the Hellenic, Roman and Medieval periods. I only wish I could have spent more time exploring here. I'd recommend getting a boat trip to the castle, it was very special to see and enjoy the view on the way. If you're anywhere near this you have to visit to experience its beauty and tranquility. I'd recommend spending a whole day here to fully enjoy in a relaxing manner.

Amazing park with lots to see. There’s also locals with souvenir stands with hand crafted original items.
There’s also a tiny museum with archeological finds and to top it all off there’s beautiful scenery to admire from the top of the old castle.
Entrance costs about 10 euros (1000 lek).

A chance to wander ancient ruins, almost by ourselves.
We visited on October 1st from 5-630pm. Outside of peak tourist season and during golden hour, this spot was perfect though we forgot to bring bug spray and the mosquitoes had their way with us.
It’s a beautiful and historic place that you can explore at your own pace. Fun to imagine the large city that existed for hundreds of years here.
The Achilleion is a 19th-century neoclassical palace built as the summer residence of Empress Elizabeth of Austria, located on a steep hilltop 12km south of Corfu Town. The mansion features Achilles-themed interiors and sweeping garden terraces with stunning sea views. Its central staircase boasts intricate decoration rising in geometrical flights. Unfortunately, the second floor was closed for renovations during our visit, but the gardens were still worth exploring.
August 2021: Absolutely stunning! This palace is beautifully preserved and the gardens are spectacular! Very worthy of a visit and very cheap too!

Beautiful summer palace built for Empress Elisabeth of Austria in honor and admiration to Achilles. Entrance for the garden is 5€/person. At the moment the museum is closed, so you can only enjoy the garden, which is stunning 🤩.
Sammy Ernst — Google review
Since the building is renovated at the moment, you can not go in there. 5€ is a bit expensive for only the garden. View is nice but if you are not near anyways, I wouldn’t recommend to go there at this time.

Interesting and historic place. But it’s actually more a ruin than a palace. ☹️ In November it will re-opened to public it was promised. A beautiful view and a lovely little garden.
MICHAEL G — Google review
The pictures in the guidebook look great.....but it is in a terrible state. The building is undergoing restoration, but no workmen to be seen. You can not enter the building, and the gardens were in a sorry state. To charge 5 euros was a complete rip-off. 10 minutes walking round the shabby gardens and the deserted building site was enough. The only positive point I can make was the view over Corfu old town was good!
Robbob Tun — Google review
Beautiful home with magnificent view. We were unable to explore the second floor of the home due to it being closed for renovations but it was still worth the visit. The gardens... so beautiful and the view of the sea...spectacular! There are steps to reach the gardens.

Visited in 2019. Got the bus from Corfu town to the palace. Only a short walk to the ticket office. Spent a couple of hours looking around the house and gardens. Very enjoyable visit and great views from the gardens. Highly recommended. Didn't have too long to wait for a bus back to Corfu town.

The monument is beautiful with very nice gardens overlooking the city of Corfu. Wonderful views!! There were renovating works during our visit in the 2/3 of the building. They should not charge the whole price of the ticket during the renovation stage.

Completely closed, nothing to see.. the info display at the entrance says that gardens are open - but they are not. One official guy sitting there just telling you that it’s closed.
Don’t waste your time to go there

The palace is under renovation. As a result, the interior is closed off and the exterior is littered with construction material. While you can see the statues and the (beautiful) view, it is worth neither the trip nor the ticket price.
SK — Google review
The statue and gardens are quite well maintained and the interiors are under renovation. 5€ per person isn't a lot but there wasn't much to see because of this. Plenty of steps to get to the garden. There are 2 beautiful statues of Achilles and one of them overlooks the panoramic view or Corfu.
If arriving by public transport the bus stop is right opposite the souvenir shop + cafe.

An important historical landmark. The former palace of the Austrian Empress Sisi. The palace itself is a very beautiful building, of classical architecture. It has a large collection of very valuable exhibits. The garden of the palace is beautiful and there are many statues, among which the statue of Achilles stands out. The place is busy and can be reached by bus number 10 from Corfu Town.

Unfortunately we didn't get to see much!Of course the garden is very beautiful not well maintained though! The view is mesmerising! And pretty much that's it!Let's be honest, it's not worth the entrance fee. They should have a free entrance, for everyone, to the garden until the palace is fully restored! Think about it! New season is coming up soon! Just a thought! Hope you decide wisely!

Beautiful grounds, with beautiful views. Unfortunately the palace was closed for renovation, so couldn’t see inside.
Sabrina Darling — Google review
Unfortunately they were restoring everything inside and partly outside. So we only could visit the garden 🥲🥲 That's a pity, because we were excited to view the rooms of the palace. The garden is beautiful and the statue is huge. At the balcony at the end of the garden you can enjoy the beautiful view of the landscape.
Elisa — Google review
The palace is really rundown and needs a lot of repairs before it could open to the public. The garden within is pretty nice. It is one of the major tourist spot but there are no working washroom anywhere on the premises.
Humphrey Mak — Google review
We were there at the beginning of September and most of the monument is under construction (especially the inside of the building), there's really not much to see outside and even that is quite poorly preserved. The entrance fee for what you see is absolutely too high (5,5€). It's a shame to see such a work of art in such a state, I hope they are working on restoring the exterior as well. But the view from the garden is beautiful :)
The Kanali tou Erota beach is picturesque and secluded between rock formations. It's a great place to relax with a book or take a sun bath. There are several coves and canals nearby that make it an interesting destination for swimming.
I loved the sunset here,we went there 2 days. The best time is in the evening, I loved to swim trough the canal d’amour, and there’s also a love legend. Not to mention how romantic is this place.
Himeshi costa — Google review
Such a stunning place to visit. The view is beautiful, and the water shallow and clear. You can actually swim in the canal, which is like a cave (you can’t see it in the photos, you need to swim there).
The myth about the canal is cute and interesting. Such a romantic destination!
Local Guide — Google review
Very small little bay about 10 metres wide fenced in by 2 outcrops of beige stone. The Canal D'amour has a local legend. If you swim out through it with your loved one, you stay together forever, or if you swim it single, you meet the love of your life within a year. Nice legend reality is not so good bars built almost on top of it and way too many people and loud music
Picturesque if you look out towards sea not so looking back in land from the water
Dave T — Google review
There is a car park here. A large area of layered rocks with footpaths and walkways on it. A few beaches inside but the majority of it is an inlet of fast waves which splash up the walls. There is an area to get from one side to the other which I imagine would be very slippery.
It’s a very scenic place and an interesting destination if you were to visit the north of the island

The place is beautiful, you have all the conditions for a nice vacation. In this location there is also a small cave, you will surely be impressed by this location. Next to the beach you have a coffee bar where you can have the tastiest drinks.

The road to the beach is muddy so be careful, I’d recommend wearing shoes. I don’t think there’s an actual beach bar so be well prepared to bring umbrellas and towels. It’s way too overcrowded, you can walk and sit on the rocks but be careful. It’s a unique beach and it’s worth visiting. The day we went there the water looked a bit dirty cause it was windy. It also has a cave and it’s really nice for jumping into the water.

Only worth one star ⭐ due to the potential. This place could be a lot better but the beach is really more like a mud pen and the waters are cloudy, probably due to sediment cliffs crumbling into the sea. On the journey to the beach you are greeted with an apocalyptic looking hotel with a smashed glass window barrier which is dangerous to anyone with wandering kids. Check the photos. Overall, disappointing, try one of the many other much nicer beaches like Porto timoni.
Akrotiri Beach Resort Hotel is a sea-view property with 2 bars, an eatery and an infinity pool. Guests can enjoy breakfast at the hotel every morning. The staff are very friendly and professional. The only thing guests may not enjoy is the quality of the food at breakfast.
Excellent place to stay. The views are fantastic, the staff are all very helpful and welcoming and speak a lot of languages! The main hotel was very clean and tidy and has obviously been given a lick of paint recently.
Our room was very pleasant, a huge bed, amazing view over the bay and it was clean, tidy and quiet. A small fridge to keep your beer and wine in for an evening tipple on the balcony.
Our room did look a little tired, but they are tarting them all up and it didn't detract at all.
The pool is lovely (if a little chilly at the beginning of September!) and the bar there does good drinks and excellent food.
There's a new nice little bar on the beach which also has full drinks and food service for guests.
The free wifi was surprisingly good too.
My first time in Corfu, absolutely won't be the last and I'm certain I'll stay here again next time.

Positives: Great location, main beach with calm water and Rocky beach to snorkel or relax in more secluded area. Available seating by the beach or on the floors with view on the beach. Rooms are quite spacious but not 4 stars. Food was good. Supermarket in walking distance. Pool was nice and clean. Bars available everywhere. Staff was professional.
Negatives: No free shuttle from/to airport if stay is under 7 days. Paying for water was not pleasant. Also no drinks are included during dinner, everything was extra. I would at least expected water or soft drinks to be included. No special deals on boat rentals which is quite common to do in order to explore surroundings.

What a wonderful time & experience we had at the Akrotiri hotel. We availed of the free taxi service offered by the hotel when booking direct with them. The reception staff were so welcoming and helpful all of the time. The rooms were beautifully decorated and the view made our mornings! The cleaning staff were so so lovely and were always greeting us with a smile. They looked after our room wonderfully and the hotel was immaculate. We cannot wait to return, I have never visited a hotel twice but I would make sure to go back to Akrotiri Beach hotel again! They go above and beyond and quite honestly it was an unforgettable holiday and the hotel staff & the location was to thank for that!

The hotel is located on a cliff overlooking an amazing view of the sea. The hotel beach is down many steps and is rocky, suitable for those in good shape. The beach on the other side is Akron Beach, a beautiful beach with clear water. Those who intend to enjoy the beaches should know that there is no access for the disabled, you have to go down a lot of stairs. The hotel staff is kind and smiling, they help in everything. The rooms are spacious and pleasant with a balcony overlooking the view. The breakfast is nice, but I expected more. The offer is quite routine and repeats itself every morning. All in all, we can say that the hotel is very nice and recommended for a belly vacation.

The hotel is fantastic, set in a picturesque location with access to a beautiful beach. Most areas were recently refurbished and the hotel bar, terrace and the beach bar look very modern and classy!
The rooms are nice, (our room was also recently refurbished), we had a sea view and the view from the room is breathtaking! The only downside was the air con which was pretty loud.
The staff are very helpful, friendly and attentive.
Overall definitely recommend, my partner and I had a 5 star experience!

Fantastic location with great beach options on both side. Crystal clear sea. Hotel was well managed with very nice, friendly staff.
The key reason for 4 stars (instead of 5) is the food and drinks. There was a certain level of carelessness in the buffet, the a la carte options and even in the cocktails or coffee in the morning.

The hotel was very good overall. The building and the rooms are very well decorated. The view from the room was amazing. The beach was well organized and the sea is very clear. The staff was helpful. The only thing was there was a light sewage smell in the hotel, even in the room. The reception lady told that it is about the infrastructure of the island and it happens sometimes. But it was not that bad. I definitely recommend the hotel.

We had a wonderful experience at this hotel, which offered a breathtaking view. We were fortunate to have a superior room that provided an amazing view of the sea. Upon our arrival, we noticed a few issues with the room, but once we brought them to the attention of the staff, they promptly addressed and resolved them. This quick response and effective problem-solving contributed to our overall positive impression of the hotel.
The location of the hotel is truly incredible. Guests have the option of enjoying a stunning beach right in front of the property or a rocky beach, which happened to be our favorite, located near the pool area. The availability of both types of beaches added to the overall appeal and provided diverse experiences for guests.
However, the pool was the weak aspect of this hotel. Given the spectacular view, we expected a large infinity pool that would complement the surroundings. Unfortunately, when we checked it out, we found it to be too small and crowded considering the size of the hotel. This was somewhat disappointing, as the potential for a more impressive pool experience was evident.
Additionally, the service at the hotel fell short of our expectations, which is why we are giving it a rating of four stars. We acknowledge that service standards in Greece can generally be higher, and in comparison, the service we received at this hotel didn't quite meet those expectations.

Thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Very friendly staff and clean modern rooms. The location is what makes it amazing though. A private rocky beach to one side (perfect for snorkelling and daytime sunbathing) & access to a public sandy beach the other side with a private bar and loungers for sundowners. Would absolutely stay again and really recommend!

Rooms are ok, with amazing views. However, rooms' decor feels a little cheap, and there are small nagging things, like an emergency light in the kids room that is very bright throughout the night, or the smell of sewage from the balconies of some of the rooms.
The swimming pool is amazing, however there are not enough sunbeds.
The Jacuzzi is a nice touch, however the water wasn't hot.
The biggest disappointment was the lack of free sunbeds at the beach, which means that with all the money we paid for the place, we had to pay extra for sunbeds, or use a beach towel on the pebbles
Saul Adereth — Google review
Amazing and fabolous! The hotel is in a beautiful setting on a beautiful turquoise clear water beach. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The food at the buffet restaurant was very tasty, with lots of choices every morning. We were surprised by the quality of the local restaurants around the hotel. No need to rent a car. We took taxi boats every day to different beaches which were stunning! Both beaches (rocky beach and front beach) were family friendly, clean and pleasant. Sun beds must be reserved inadvance. Our room was comfortable, everything was of decent quality. We will definitely be booking
as well for next year.

Great hotel with picturesque view!!! I really recommend staying in this hotel. Breakfast is varied and tasty. Our family suite was clean. However, it was very disappointing to find out that we have to pay for sunbeds at the hotel's beach (25 euros after a 50% discount). In my opinion it would have been nice to give the hotel guests free beds every day or at least for half of the nights staying at the hotel.
The historic center of Otranto, named Centro Storico, showcases the impressive 11th-century Cattedrale di Santa Maria Annunziata. This cathedral boasts a Chapel of the Martyrs and an exquisite medieval mosaic floor. The military architecture during the 15th century is represented by the Aragonese Castle in this area. Additionally, visitors can find frescoes that showcase Apulian Byzantine art inside the Church of San Pietro.
Baia dei Turchi is a secluded tourist beach located in the town of Otranto, Puglia. The area is known for its pristine white buildings and full amenities, including family-run delis serving up spicy focaccia. While Otranto's main sandy drag may be popular among visitors, those seeking a more peaceful experience can venture a few kilometers north towards Casino dei Turchi.
After a twenty minutes walk on a wild woods path, you arrive to this dreamy bay. There's not much people, the sand is white and silky, the water is crystal aquamarine and in some points light blue and emerald green. The bay is long and allows to take walks on the beach. I have travelled a lot but I can assure you I have never been in a place in which sea water and the sand are so paradisiacal.

Be careful though: they will tell you that there is no parking by the beach to force you to pay 5€ and take their shuttle but off season, you can easily come and park for free in the pinewood where the shuttle drops you.

I went in September 2023 and there is three car parks. There is a FREE one that is the closest to the beach.
The first car park you see has car park attendants demanding you to stop for parking and cost 5 euros. Ignore them and turn left into the road directing you to the beach.
The second car park has a charge for 3 euros. Also ignore as you can continue along the paved road.
The third and last car park is FREE and fits about 50 cars and is untimed. Check out that car park first and if no spots then turn back to the other car parks.
Note the walk if you stop at the first car park is at least 20 minutes until the beach which is crazy. So get to the free and closest car park
The beach has soft sand, and water is nice. Nice for a day lying down to relax

Pros: beautiful beach, fine sand and shallow water (good for children). Cons: expensive parking (5-7€), long walk through the pine forrest (depending on where you park, it can be 200m to 1000m). The closest to the beach parking is not open before 8am so if you’re an early riser, manage accordingly.

Alper Ozdemir — Google review
Truly stunning, water was amazing, clear, aqua blue, warm and the sand so soft. It did take a little bit of a 15 minute walk to get there though. As we parked at the beginning of a road, then had to walk about 1 km to reach it through road, bush and finally down the small cliff face. All worth it and didn’t get out of the water for an hour it was that good.

Great beach, though overpriced seats if you come for a couple hours, 30 euros for 2 seats. No shower, no real toilet, only portable stuff because it's super remote.
The beach is like a dream. Sand, clean, super safe, starts with a bath and then you can swim pretty far. Waves very mellow with southern wind.

Lovely sandy beach split naturally into small coves by the curved rocks. There’s a car park just 5 mins walk away through the woods for €5 a day. Not much down there in terms of facilities or refreshments so best to come prepared. Water is shallow a fairly long way out - great for swimming

Beautiful beach! We stopped by in July 2023 and it was very hot this day so there were quite a lot of people on the beach. Renting a parasol and two sunbeds was 30 € but essential as the sun was strong. The sand gets super hot so make sure to bring sandals or similar. The sand was great quality and the water was very clear with gentle waves when we visited.

First of all, you need to walk around 1 km to the beach from the parking. But every step is totally worth it. There are some guys who are asking 5 to 7 Euros for parking... We were just parking next to the road just like the locals. We asked some Italians and they said it is okay ... So I guess you can safe that money for the parking. The beach itself is really nice the water is clear. We went in the evening so it was not that crowded. I think with sunshine and on the weekends it might get crowded. I think the sunrise could be very nice there

Fantastic beach near Otranto. Water is Crystal clear, sand is soft and comfortable, and the beach is surrounded by rocks and beautiful trees.
Not that much infrastructure there, as it is in a natural protection reserve. Parking far away, but with a shuttle included in the 4euros. Count, after the stop of the shuttle, on one kilometer walk, difficult to access for small children or person with disabilities

Beautiful sandy beach with crystal clear water, and deserted in September.
Multiple access points through the forest, depending on which parking area you come from. Absolutely not wheelchair accessible or suitable for strollers, but otherwise rather friendly pathway for anyone able to walk.

Centro Storico is the historic center of a city, characterized by its narrow cobblestone streets and well-preserved medieval architecture. It's a charming area filled with quaint shops, lively cafes, and bustling markets. Visitors can wander through the picturesque alleyways, admiring the beautiful old buildings and soaking up the vibrant atmosphere. The Centro Storico is also home to important cultural landmarks such as museums, churches, and historical sites that offer insight into the city's rich heritage.
The cathedral, which was built between 1659 and 1712, is a beautiful example of Baroque architecture. It features an elaborate façade and a bell tower. The church is also home to the Museo Diocesano, San Matteo, Santa Chiara and Santa Croce churches. It is well worth taking your time to visit!

A must-see, as much for its setting as the church itself. If you want to enter, you need to purchase a ticket that costs 6 Euro to enter the Cathedral, the Old Seminary, the Diocesan Museum, also the Basilica near it.

It’s very amazing the baroque architecture. If you go there sit down and slowly appreciate each detail. The angels, birds and many details sculpted are incredible.
The church is not too big.
They have a package in the entrance can you can buy one entrance for all the churches or just one for this one.

Located in a nice piazza, with tickets being sold nearby, in the information office. The family ticket is a value of money, and would recommend to get if you are not alone.

11€ entrance fee. Sure there are other churches included but it should be free on Easter Sunday. These are places of worshipping too. Merchants of the temple are back and make money.

Over the top Baroque bounty in this lush and fabulous Duomo. The columns have climbing and clinging angels. The altars (there are many) are adorned with saintly sculptures and paintings. My favorite is the railings, complete with multicolored marbles. A true work of art. The downstairs contains some excavation and human remains as in bones and a skull. Oh my.

Impressive church - baroque style with tons of works over the columns.
Great value on the family ticket: € 17,00 to visit the Duomo, Museo Diocesano; San Matteo, Santa Chiara and Santa Croce Church’s.
Take your time and enjoy!!!!
Swimming, sunbathing, & other recreation draws crowds to this picturesque beach with shallow waters.
This is a terrific beach in the region with clear water, fine sand and a low grade into the water. If you're staying in Gallipoli, it's about a 40-minute drive south, right at the tip of the heel of the boot of Italy! There is a large (free) parking area too. I would bring an umbrella, as there was no shade available in the public access area where we entered. Very uncrowded (although it was a Tuesday, not the weekend).

I guess this beach is only cleaned during the high tourist season.
Was there in May and it was disgusting, waste everywhere, even empty plastic detergent bottles...
Otherwise the beach is ok, just a normal sand beach good for kids to play and swim (imagining it clean)

It’s a very beautiful beach but of course almost all taken by the paid umbrella sections (super tight one next to the other). That’s to be expected but the surprising thing was the car shower at the exit of the parking (for free whilst the shower for humans is at 1€ per shower 😂 all the while there seems to be a fraught going on 😳😜

Be attentive of the wind, depending on how it flows, you won't get the Maldives-like clear waters you see in the pictures. Unfortunately, that was our case. I hope to get back when the wind is more favorable.
Torre Guaceto Marine Protected Area is a coastal and marine nature reserve featuring a 16th-century defensive tower and visitor center that houses a museum. Unlike other beaches that lose their charm due to commercialization, Torre Guaceto remains unspoiled even after being awarded Blue-Flag status. It is a protected area that boasts of diverse fauna, including birds and snakes. The beach in the Ostuni area has white sand and beautiful sea with no plastic waste littering its shores.
Our favourite beach in Ostuni area. White sand and beautiful sea, we didnt witness any plastic garbage on the beach.
Dali Imedi — Google review
I wanted to love this location. Whilst the setting is beautiful, there’s very little I can say in favour of it. I hate to imagine how the beaches appear outside of the “marine protection areas”. The amount of garbage was disappointing, disgusting, sad, depressing and left a feeling of such helplessness. At one end of the beach was the well kept “paid section”, looked lovely... the remainder of the beach “public section” you could easily fill a garbage truck at least once over. I would be interested in learning more about what conservation policies exist in Italy for Marine/Parklands.

This is a fine example of a conservation area and yet very accessible to the public . A shuttle bus service is provided from the main parking area. There are different zones of protection , no fishing , sailing and water sport areas and swimming is not encouraged in some areas . The areas are clearly designated and the public seem to be cooperating. There is a turtle hospital not open to the public due to stress that this would cause the animals. There are long scenic , tranquil paths to walk but beware of the erosions and danger in some of the cliff tops. The beaches and bays are a haven for wildlife and the public alike this place deserves more publicity but maybe its better left to the public to discover how wonderful it is?
Danny Phillips — Google review
Sorry but calling Torre Guaceto a natural reserve is a joke... The beach is dirty, with microplastics and other waste, and due to the shallow water the dirt remains in the water almost up to the buoys. Beach is overcrowded in August as could be expected, yet it has only two toilets and not even a shower. Booking online or not makes no difference: the parking is huge and accepts anyone who pays the 5€ at the entrance, and then everyone queues up for the shuttle. But the small „train“ doesn’t bring you to the beach, instead it drops you off some 700m away... and even in peak periods there is only one "train". Queues under the scorching sun are very long for both journeys (wait at least 20 minutes). The sea is ok, but neither better nor worse than the other coves along the coast. Don‘t waste your time & money here!
Grunz Pieper — Google review
- It's a wonderful place for a good walk along the seaside, the sea is simply amazing, only downside the rubbish coming from the sea get stuck on the beaches and doesn't get removed because "it's a reserve".
- Posto fantastico per una giornata di mare immersi nella selvaggia macchia mediterranea, è un peccato però che i rifiuti portati dalle mareggiate non vengano rimossi

The Basilica Concattedrale di Sant'Agata in old town Gallipoli is a stunning 17th century baroque cathedral that is renowned for its intricate statues, paintings and frescoes. Built with local stone between 1629 and 1696 to replace an earlier church on the same site, this magnificent ecclesiastical structure exudes an elegant and ornate charm. The cathedral's interior boasts exquisite paintings which contribute to the serene atmosphere of the sacred space.
The Sant'Agata Basilica is located in the heart of Gallipoli old town which is on a small island. It is the largest building there packed in tiny streets around, so it's difficult to capture the whole beautiful Baroque facade.
The interiors are stunning - pretty dark as a result of lacking sunlight with similarly dark huge paintings on its walls. Terrific marble art work as well. Free entry

The cathedral basilica of Sant'Agata virgin and martyr (Basilica Cathedrālis S.Agathæ), also known as Gallipoli cathedral, is dedicated to the patron saint of the city of Gallipoli and of the diocese of the same name. The current cathedral church was elevated to a minor pontifical basilica in 1946 by Pope Pius XII, at the request of Bishop Nicola Margiotta. With the Royal Decree of November 21, 1940, the Italian king Vittorio Emanuele III elevated it to the status of a national monument due to its historical and artistic importance. It is the seat of an archpriest, of a chapter of the canons and of the homonymous parish. It is located in the center and at the highest point of the island, a site probably intended as a sacred area since ancient times. For the work the local builders Francesco Bischettimi and Scipione Lachibari were called, who followed the design of the entire factory built by Giovan Bernandino Genuino. Due to the large number of canvases it can be considered a real art gallery. It is a baroque church of the seventeenth century, rebuilt to replace the ancient Romanesque church dedicated to St. John Chrysostom. The canon of the cathedral D'Elia claimed that the Basilica dated back to the XIIth and therefore had to have a Norman-Romanesque-Pugliese style. In 1629 the ancient temple was destroyed and the first stone of the new church was laid, in the presence of the archpriest Michele di Valandia, high prelate of the Chapter, deputy to bishop Rueda absent. Fundamental was the donation made in this regard by the doctor, philosopher, teacher, scholar of Gallipoli Giovanni Giacomo Lazzari. An inscription placed by the then bishop of Gallipoli Oronzo Filomarini (placed today above the entrance to the sacristy) explains the origin of the Cathedral, once dedicated to St. John Chrysostom.

I came to visit this tower twice during my vacation. The first time it was closed to only private visits, but to compensate they made a really interesting show in collaboration with the local dance club, I quite enjoyed it. The lesson I learned here is that one should always inform him/herself about the location to visit.
It's not too bad that you can't enter, the tower is still quite impressive from the outside too and at night it gets illuminated. During the day you can also chill on the small open pond there and enjoy the sea.

Zoosafari is an animal park that offers a drive-through safari, sea lion aquarium, roller coasters, and water rides. The park is affordable and provides clean and exciting experiences for visitors. It's recommended to purchase vegetables for the animals before arriving at the gate of the park. However, caution should be exercised when choosing a vehicle as some animals may damage cars. The zoo allows visitors to get up close with beautiful animals like lions crossing in front of cars.
Amazing park, I've never seen animals this close, like a lion crossing over in front of my car! The monkeys rail tour is a nice idea, but it's so protected inside that you can't really see much. It's such a pity.I'm not sure how happy the polar bear was, as 40 degrees C was too much even for me. Overall spectacular though!

A must go for families with kids. Better to go in winter than in summer with the heat. The animals seem to be having a good time. You get the feeling that animals enjoy very much the encounter with humans. Dangerous animals are kept at a safe distance, but close enough to feel like you’ve entered their world. Hugging a giraffe was probably the cutest thing I’ve done there.

At least 5h is needed. Best have own food, unfortunately restaurants are poor quality and very pricey (18euro for lunch per person). A lot of beauty animals, really you can touch them… moreover place is very beautiful , charm-full. For sure will go there again.

Clean, exciting, affordable and...did I mention clean? This place was more than worth the drive, price, and experience. Don't forget to buy vegetables for the animals before you drive up to the gate of the park. I would be careful about which vehicle you take, however. We saw a buffalo dig it's horns into a car and, well, the owner wasn't too happy.

This place has a nice drive thru safari where the animals will come right up to the window and get in the way of your vehicle. I would suggest buying the carrot and peanut bags they sell outside the zoo. Not clear on the legality of it but there are no signs saying you can’t feed the animals and everyone seems to do it. The drive thru safari is pretty long. After you go thru the safari you can then park and there’s also an amusement park and additional zoo features to the rest of place. It does cost more money to ride any rides once in the amusement park. It wasn’t very busy and no lines on any of the rides. Was great for our 3-year old: bumper cars, gondola ride, merry go round, etc. It’s an ok amusement park, but was a great half day event for us and a change from the many beach days.

The fee is worth for the drive Safari only, the normal Zoo was average seen so many times.
The drive path takes around 90 min, but we drove it more than 2 hours (enough space to stand aside to let others bypass you).
Although the rule's windows must be closed, most drive with windows down (except when passing the lions and tigers). Animals are used to people and cars, they lean their head through windows letting you pet them and feed them - the best for that are giraffes and zebras.
We had rice cakes, peaches and bananas with us. If you plan feeding them buy some food beforehand, as the road sellers before the park offer a small bag for 5 Euros.
The drive around the tigers is unbelievable - they're 5, 6 of them on a roundabout with a tree and a small pond. They played and posed so we drove 3 circles around.
Driving 10 met from the lions was so thrilling, and after that along the way you meet elephants, rhinos, camels, buffalos,...
Completing the drive you park your car (extra 3 Euros) and enter the normal Zoo. Here, I would point out the Monkey train - caged train which takes you through hundreds of monkeys jumping on it.
The rest of the Zoo is quite average and was underwhelming after the Safari drive.
To conclude - no matter you're with kids or not, this is really one of the best attractions in entire Puglia region.

It was a great time for us and the kids.
We were surprised by the diversity of the animals and options to spend time.
You should plan a full day here. Beside the safari option, which will take a max 1-1,5h, there are more things to be discovered in this park.
You have also fair options to eat (no fancy restaurant but fast food Italian style kitchen).
It was really enjoyable time spent in a place perfect for kids.

An enjoyable day out with the family, we were very surprised at the number of animals in the zoo, very well kept and looking healthy.
The downside is that you are able to drive through the animals habitat with your car which isn't very healthy for the wildlofe also the tickets price which can exceed over 150 euro for a family of 5, this won't include most of the rides at the fairground next to the zoo, you would need to purchase extra tickets to enjoy the rides and some shows.

Fantastic old city with various picturesque little houses, small balconies full of flowers and small alleyway’s that you really don’t expect that they would lead you to wonderful view of the Adriatic Sea. Small shops in almost all the pavements, churches, piazzas and even shops for street food. The city is “ hanging” on a cliff about 20 meters high , is one of the most photographed cities in Italy, is considered as the jewel of Apuglia and also the native town of the famous Italian singer Domenico Montunio

Castello Aragonese is a beautiful fortress located on an island in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. It has a rich history, dating back more than 1000 years, and it's interesting to explore on a tour. The castle is also home to two cafes and a bookshop, which are great places to relax after a day of sightseeing.
Nice tour, enthusiastic tour guide. Need to call for tour reservations, which are free. The tour was only in Italian.

Castello Aragonese, Italy
Castello Aragonese is a medieval castle located in Ischia Ponte and is perhaps the most iconic and intriguing of all Ischia's sights. It dates back nearly 2,500 years when the original fortress was built by Hiero I, a tyrant from the Sicilian region of Syracusa. In the early days after its creation, the site comprised of two watch-towers to guard against attacks from enemy forces, while the sea surrounding it offered its greatest source of protection from any potential raids. Control of the rock-fortress changed hands between Neopolitan and Roman forces for many years with its strategic position in the region seen as vital for trade and protection of the island's resources.
In the middle ages the castle gained its current name due to the tenancy of the Aragonese royal family whom created much of the structure of the castle as it is seen today. In 1441 one of the most important events in the castle's history took place when it was connected to the land by the same stone bridge that still stands. The previously wooden bridge and comparatively weak fortifications of the fortress were deemed as insufficient protection against modern pirates, plunderers and raiders which inspired King Alfonso V to set about creating the magnificent citadel. The castle has had several incarnations in its long long history. At one stage it was the home to 2,000 inhabitants of the island and has also been used as a prison in times of conflict.
For modern-day visitors to Ischia, Castello Aragonese offers a fascinating glimpse in to the history of the island as well as providing a beautiful and dramatic addition to the landscape. As the ferries and hydrofoils approach Ischia, the first thing people notice is the huge green mass of Mount Epomeo, followed by iconic sight of the castle as they get closer to port.

Nice location, freshly restored buildings. Inside some small rooms with old cannons. A nice location is down the stairs below the moveable bridge. Important: Building needs special permission from navy to enter.

A pure gem.
The museum is free and open from 9am until 1 in the morning. Just book it over the phone. Make sure you mention a tour guide in English in case you need one.
The guided tour is around 45mins and given directly by the Naval army. They have plenty of stories to tell.
Don't miss it.

the Aragonese Castle is located on a small island. It is an impressive fortress with more than 1000 years of history. This complex not only served to defend the city, but was also used as a prison at times. It's nice to walk around there and you can take good photos if you have a good camera.

The historical Sassi di Matera is a popular tourist destination with impressive cave networks and extensive archaeological findings from the Paleolithic era. The city has been inhabited for centuries, with recent renovations adding new accommodations options to the mix. Cave tours are a must for visitors to experience the wonders of this unique place.
Wonderful and charming place. We visited as part of the tour that helped to learn about the area and skip queue when entering old house dwellings and one of the stone churches. Place got really busy around lunchtime, so perhaps better to plan to visit early in the morning. Toilet facilities are not free, so make sure to have some euro coins.

Beautiful place, unique in the world. It looks going back in time. The architecture and the atmosphere of the place makes everything magic. You can find a lot of bed and breakfast where staying, but be ready to walk with the luggages. The town itself is small but nice. A guided tour is suggested to reach the best angles and to know where the movie sets have been placed. It could be also very romantic, if you come with the right person of course. You need the car or an organized tour to reach the place, but once you are here it is not needed. Highly recommended

Gorgeous stone town. Extremely busy even at the end of October. Thousands of people and hundreds of groups roam the streets so it’s rather difficult to enjoy the full beauty of the surroundings. Definitely visit but arm yourself with lots of patience. Easy to get to from Bari, via bus with two departures, at 7.30am and 4pm.

Magical place, wandering through the narrow streets of Sassi is something different. As soon as you enter the old city you feel like you just traveled in time. Getting lost in this city is nothing but pleasure. Also I recommend taking a hike up the hill opposing the city to get the best view.

Very beautiful place worth to visit and to walk around! However, entrance fees (5 EUR for adults) to enter some of the cave apartments but this is not a must from my perspective.

It's a special place where you can see how it was a long time ago. Life in caves with animals... Sightseeing is amazing. A cozy small mini family museum inside of one of these houses full of old stuff met us a coolness. It was exactly needed because of 40*C outside.
AcquaPark Odissea 2000 is a vast amusement park featuring waterslides, pools, a water roller coaster, and lazy river. There's also an on-site pizzeria and bar for refreshments. While it may not be the largest waterpark around, it offers rides suitable for all levels of thrill-seekers. To use the lockers available at the park, visitors are required to carry photo identification with them.
Very nice park! There is a lot of attractions and places to eat.
Price for the entrance go from 18 to 23 eur depending in which season you go.
Prices for food and drinks inside are honest prices: a sandwich with Calabria sausage+soft drink 40ml was 5,50 eur. Coffee (espresso) 1 euro.
It was Friday, end of July and it was good amount of people... Lines for the slides were very short (max 10 minutes) and there was the possibility to do slides also note than once.
It is advised to go during the week (mon-fri) or not in August, otherwise there is the risk that the lines for the slides are too long and it is gonna be difficult to enjoy the park.
There is both a good area for children and a good area for adults.
The staff working in the park is young, very kind and helpful.

Fantastic place for a fun day.
There are a lot of slides of differents levels but be mindful that there are stairs to reach them and ,for some of them, before doing them, make sure you don't need an item such as a inflatable that you can.collect at th end of the slide otherwise you will end up like us doing twice the stairs as no sign indicates that you need it.
Pro: toilets everywhere, food station with reasonable prices ans also a restaurant. Lockers at additional cost
Tips: better to go on a weekday to avoid crowds.
Cons: If you want sunbed you will be charged extra 3€ per person.
Lockers are not free.
TOILETS DON'T HAVE THE SEAT. BE READY TO SQUAT!

Went with my husband and our two kids. We have been here before. They have made some cool changes to few pools, unfortunately not to the kids area. Nice place with many different pools and water slides. There’s two areas for small kids - unfortunately, they are made in such a way that water is constantly thrown at the slides so it becomes almost impossible for the kids to climb the stairs and steps not to mention even go down the slide. It is such a shame because the place is really nice. My kids preferred to stay at the bigger pools where it was possible to swim around. Especially the pool that makes waves were fun for the kids.

So wonderful! This could be the happiest place on earth, stand aside Disney! What wonderful passionate and caring staff all throughout the park !
Pascha Forster — Google review
Quite expensive at 23€ bit the real problem is the appalling quality of the food available. Otherwise there are plenty slides to keep the kids busy and can't really blame them for the old woman who died the day we were there, the removal of the corpse could have been handled a bit more discreet
Jens Krause — Google review
It's ok, nothing amazing but despite all the English translation on food menu's, it's still quite hard if Italian isn't your first language, I think translation only exists as it's owned in Spain. Rides are ok so probably alright as a family trip if you have kids.

We had a wonderful time with Lao Rafting! The staff was very friendly and professional.
A cool thing was that they didn't mix the groups, so even if we were two families of three, we got our own boat and guide.
We would have loved to do the long one ride, but the shorter one seem more adapted to our 4yo son. He loved the experience! . Next time well go for the long one!

The nature along the trip is breathtaking .
Minus : can be better if we could take a bit more time to enjoy the views . Also would be funnier with more freedom from the staff which can be very strict during the trip (almost no swimming allowed even when the water is very calm. ). If you are looking for adventure and fun you might find it childish..
Finally i found it very annoying to pay 20€ EXTRA PER PERSON for the pictures. We were 2 doing the trip and they asked us to pay 40€ knowing that we were together on the pictures… then she « gave » us 50% discount. Anyway, pictures are taken and a guide is payed to take them during all the trip. Its shame to just erase them if nobody wants them. They should be included in the price. And actually, its seems logical that the trip already includes the photographer cost otherwise why would they take the risk to have customers not paying for them?!

Tropea is a petite locality situated on the southeastern coast of Calabria, in the southern regions of Italy. This charming town is famed for its scenic historic center, stunning beaches and highly-valued red onions. The public beach Shore of Tropea is a small shoreline with soft sand and clear waters, nestled under high cliffs and the historic town of Tropea. It has become a popular destination over the last decade due to its incredible beauty, particularly when the sun sets over the horizon. The beach is clean and well-maintained, with several restaurants offering great dining experiences at night. For those brave enough to climb on the huge rocks, there is an opportunity to witness breathtaking views.
Very wonderful place! Beautiful white good beach. Convenient descent to the water. The sea has a bustling color like in the Caribbean. No Garbage and packages in the water. The sand is soft. View on the background of the white cliff and the sea: a great surroundings for unusual photos! In the evening you can see Stromboli volcano! I recommend this beach for all who love silence and clear sea!
It is unfortunate, but at 7.30 am on April 7, 2023, part of the island fell ashore into the sea. The unique beach with white sand under the rock has ceased to exist. I hope the local authorities have enough resources to restore and strengthen the coast in this place!

The Museo Nazionale della Magna Grecia, also known as the Archeological Museum of Reggio Calabria or Palazzo Piacentini, has recently fully reopened after years of renovation. It showcases artifacts from various eras including Neolithic, Palaeolithic, Hellenistic and Roman times. The museum boasts an impressive collection of original artifacts from around southern Italy tastefully presented with bilingual explanations in English and Italian.
Fantastic rare collection in a not too large space. A couple of hours would suffice. Definitely worth a stop, also with kids.

**Museum Visit Review**
I had a very disappointing experience at the museum. The staff was incredibly rude and controlling throughout my visit. Despite the main attraction, the Bronzi di Riace, being inaccessible, they still insisted on selling me a full-price ticket. I would not recommend this place given the poor customer service and lack of access to key exhibits.

Comprehensive well presented history of Greek settlement in southern Italy and the Mediterranean. Great displays of pottery and jewellery. Some, though not all with English description. The Riace bronzes are stunning, but not the only thing worth seeing. Cafe only opens for events and bookshop seemed to be permanently closed. Not many visitors so you can spend as much time as you want

This museum is the only one in all of Italy that was actually built as a museum and has remained that way since it was built. All displays have detailed information about the items. They take you through the very early part of the historical times up to and including the two bronze full body statues that were recently retrieved from the Mediterranean sea. Plan on spending at least three hours if you want to see it all

Fantastic museum with many artifacts from the 6th to 4th centuries bc. Well worth a visit when in Reggio Calabria. Highly recommended.
Scot S — Google review
A marvellous museum with many works from excavations from the numerous areas and towns of Italian Magna Graecia. Enormous amounts of didactic information on the complex archeological history of the area. On a less positive note, at least in late September, the museum is besieged with large Northern European tour groups which makes accessing the museums “crown jewels” the Bronzes of Riace, something of a trial as there is a tedious timed air lock access system which you have to navigate before gaining access to the Holy of Holies.
Simon Gittins — Google review
Five stars for the girl’s beautiful smile at the ticket counter and the museum’s modern interior. However, if you’re not particularly interested in BC history, the museum might feel boring. It mainly features two large bronze statues and numerous amphoras.

Excellent museum. Aside the obvious appeal of the famous bronzes, the museum is well organized, informative and nicely displayed. The chronological arrangement of the artefacts and the clear explanations and context (also in English) give a fabulous condensed tour of antiquity in Calabria.

We had a nice walk in the gardens then we stopped for a coffee and ice cream and we enjoyed as well the flowers, the atmosphere. Anyway it is a pitty that the constructions look like they gonna fall every moment. Happily we discovered a private terrace where we could enjoy the view to mount Etna a bit more. Connected to the mainland by two bridges, it is predominantly pedestrian with winding alleyways that create an ideal environment for losing oneself. The western part of the island has some of the best restaurants making it perfect for evening menu browsing.
Spent five days enjoying the walled island and as a base for exploring further. Slept well, eat very well, swam when calm enough.

The island of Ortigia is known all over the world for its unique beauty. In fact, we were speechless in front of the charm of this land, surrounded by a beautiful crystalline sea and full of characteristic streets, places, monuments and many churches, all to visit. Unfortunately, we cannot make you feel its scents all around, both those of the vegetation and those that came from the clear waters that surround Ortigia. A MUST not to be missed during a trip in Sicily. 🥰🌊🌹🌸🌺💒🏘

One of the most beautiful old cities in Italy. Architecture, Art, atmosphere, cafe's, restaurants, artisanal shops, sea, port and boats. I could go on. You have to experience this, you will not regret it, nor forget it. 👌

Beatiful historical part of Siracusa. One of my favourite place in Sicily. I would walk hours and hours through that pictoresque baroque streets. On every step you can find something interesting. Plenty of restaurants, caffes, artisan shops everywhere. Duomo is beautiful. But the most magical part is watching the sunset on promenade. I love Ortigia especially becuase it wasn't so touristy as Taormina and allowing you to relax.

Fell in love with Ortigia. What a magical place. It must be unimaginably hot in summer, but at the end of October it was perfect. Huge eating options, markers are fantastic and just strolling the town is really great.

Ortigia island is such a beautiful place just outside main land Siracusa. The whole island is well kept and very enjoyable. The people are lovely and kind and they are doing they best if you don’t speak italian. The restaurants and food are exceptional and you will eat good in most of the places. Entry tickets for museum or churches are quite cheap and worth the visit. It is one of the best places in south Italy and needs to be visited once in a lifetime!

Among the most beautiful places in the world!
Parking spots are scarce. Drive carefully, streets are very narrow.Really reasonable prices at restaurants and street food spots.

A bit touristy but very nice part of eastern Sicily. Lovely views in the town and around the coast, Piazza Duomo is very picturesque and whole area has a delightful ambience.
There should be no difficulty in getting great food here and huge variety in restaurants, cafes etc. Not overly expensive, much better value than Taormina.
The Cathedral of Syracuse, a remarkable religious edifice, was constructed in the 7th century and boasts an impressive baroque facade adorned with statues. This stunning structure is an extraordinary fusion of ancient pagan architecture and Christian Baroque influences. The cathedral's unique design includes remnants of the Minerva Temple dating from ancient times, which were built on top of ruins from a sixth-century BC Athena temple.
The cathedral of Syracuse is of a beauty that leaves you speechless: a concentration of art, architecture, history and culture. Officially named the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Nativity of Maria Santissima, stands on the elevated part of the island of Ortigia, incorporating what was the main sacred temple in the Doric style of the Syrakousai polis, dedicated to Athena (Minerva) and converted into a church with the advent of Christianity.
It became part of the heritage protected by UNESCO as a world heritage site.
We took several pictures of its houses statues, relics and remains of Syracusan saints, martyrs and nobles, in particolare related to Lucia of Syracuse, known as Santa Lucia, which was a Christian martyr of the early 4th century. Absolutely to visit. ⛪️🔔🥰

Grand front and relatively plainer interior. But the Doric columns from the ancient temple 🛕 are a fascinating aspect of the interior structure. Also the interior chapel dedicated to Saint Agatha is quite interesting, including a video of the annual procession.

It’s very famous and also it’s history is very interesting which combines the Greek and Roman architect styles, it’s built BC and lasts till AD. It’s not very fancy and “wow” inside. The silver statue only goes out showing the public twice a year and actually no chance u will see it any other days of the year. There’s a miniature and video tho. Entrance fee 2€.

Lovely Cathedral in Ortega island Syracuse. We were lucky and arrived just as a military wedding was leaving the church. Exit was carried out in great style and the Piazza Duomo is one of the prettiest in Italy.
Cathedral is very interesting as it is built on a pre christian Greek temple and makes use of the original ionic or doric columns, very large and cut from a single piece of stone

Breathtaking architecture, beautiful building built on the site of an ancient temple of Athena (you can still see the Doric columns from that era inside!). Stunning work, definitely worth visiting in Ortigia.

What a unique and wonderful place! The architecture is a wonderful mix of styles from the past two millennia. A must see for history enthusiasts. Elements of an ancient Greek temple, byzantine conversion, Norman occupation and baroque architecture along with the relics and frescos make this a must on any stop in Syracuse.

The cathedral is a stunning blend of pagan architecture and a Baroque Christian church. The cathedral incorporates the remains of the ancient Minerva Temple, which was erected on the remains of a sixth-century BC Athena temple.

Amazing experience, so special and humbling to walk around in a place with this much history. Absolutely worth the small admission fee of 2 euros.
We visited on a fairly calm Wednesday in May and everything was pretty accessible, no waiting times.

It's worth visiting since you will find way more than the cathedral. The cost was €2 which I do believe to be fair given what you will get access to.

Syracuse Cathedral, located in the heart of the historic city of Syracuse in Sicily, is a magnificent religious landmark that captures the essence of the region's rich history and architectural splendor. Steeped in ancient charm, this grand cathedral stands as a testament to the city's cultural and religious heritage. The interior of the cathedral is equally captivating, with intricate frescoes, ornate sculptures, and stunning stained glass windows that bathe the space in a warm, ethereal glow. The attention to detail and craftsmanship displayed in the artwork and decorations is truly remarkable, reflecting the dedication and skill of the artists who contributed to its creation.

During an early morning walk, we decided to visit this magnificent Cathedral of Syracuse. As they just opened, there was no queue and after paying the entry ticket of €2 each we walked in. The Cathedral is beautiful and well maintained. It is worth the visit and if you don’t want people ruining your pictures, I really recommend going in the early morning. It’s much quieter and you have time to explore it without been disturbed by others.

Amazing cathedral built around the 7th century. Its architecture and design are second to none and rival that of other cathedrals built before and after its time. We didn't get a chance to go inside but it is a sight to be seen if you're visiting Siracusa
