If you’re going on a road trip from the San Martin de los Andes to Buenos Aires, we did the research for you and compiled some great stops along the way — with Neuquen, as well as top places to visit like Alumine Lake and Museo Paleontológico Municipal Ernesto Bachmann(NEUQUEN), or the ever-popular Volcán Batea Mahuida.
Neuquén, situated in the eastern part of the Argentine province with the same name, serves as both its capital city and that of Confluencia Department. The area occupies a portion of land stretching towards the west from where Limay and Neuquén rivers meet to form Río Negro, all of which falls within the ecoregion known as Alto Valle del Río Negro.

I saw the Volcan Batea Mahuida from the Mirador De La Reserva Natural Urbana and it was Very Nice To See because we had a lot of clouds in the sky making the visibility very difficult and so I guess I had luck this time around back on Friday, June 23, 2017.

Volcán Batea Mahuida, Neuquen Argentina
Do You Like Volcanoes?
Then come and visit Volcán Batea Mahuida.
This is a very Beautiful Volcano that can be hard to visit for various reasons such as if there is Bad Weather such as Snow, then it will be very hard to get up to the top, or if there are a lot of Clouds In The Sky then its' visibility will also make it hard to see as well!
During our excursion, we did try to get to the top of the volcano using a 4x4, but we gave up due to the amount of snow that was on the road.
However, we saw it from another place called "Parque De Nieve Batea Mahuida".
I am just so glad that we did Not Give Up On It because I Really Love Volcanoes!
I want to personally Thank Federico Garategui and Cesar Lopez Casanegra for taking ME there back on Sunday, June 25, 2017.

Museo Paleontológico Municipal Ernesto Bachmann(NEUQUEN)
Museo Paleontológico Municipal Ernesto Bachmann in Neuquen may be small, but it holds some remarkable exhibits. Visitors can marvel at dinosaur nests, replicas of local discoveries, and a fascinating ancient shark jaw that's a popular spot for photos. Despite its size, the museum never fails to impress its visitors with its dramatic displays. It's definitely worth a visit if you're in the area and have an interest in paleontology.
Nice place to visit if you’re in the area.

Complete animal abuse. It's really sad because so many small zoos like this still exist all over the world and are unregulated. In theory, some zoos could be beneficial if the animals were indeed rescued and/or there were conservation programs enacted but this is not one of those cases.
When I visited, it was in the middle of winter (30°F) and of course all the animals have tiny shelters where they can sleep at night but they are very small and dark. Naturally, the animals need sunlight and outdoor time so they're outside shivering and if they're lucky to be with others, huddling to keep warm.
The enclosures are small and have no stimulation or proper environmental foilage or anything. The birdcages were tiny and only had two branches for the birds to roost on. The monkeys looked extremely lonely, a chimpanzee and two other types by themselves when they are clearly social animals. Overall a very sad experience.

I heard about Casino Club through my research on Santa Rosa, La Pampa Tourism.
What a Very Nice Place to visit!
The place is gorgeous and has beautiful fountains of water outside that go off at around 7:00 P.M. every evening.
They have plenty of slot machines and card games to play and have regular shows as well!
They do charge 5 Pesos to get in, but that is Nothing if You are Coming from North America or Europe obviously.
I really Loved the Scenery both inside and outside of the Casino!
Even though I do Not Gamble, the Casino Club is well worth a Visit or a Gamble!

It is important to have good shoes for the trek, carry a backpack to keep water and food inside (DO NOT TAKE A BAG BECAUSE WHEN YOU HAVE TO CLIMB IT YOU WILL WANT TO REVOLVE IT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HILL 😂) and above all the best coat since up temperatures are often twice as low. A guide is assigned for each group (Damián Reyes the best of all, a way to explain and teach us details that one sometimes does not know about nature), the cost per person the day we went was $2000 per person. (Translated by Google) Incredible experience. In addition to suitable footwear, water (1 liter per person) and something to eat is essential. There are 6 km of trails that take between 5 and 6 hours with great intensity in posts 1,5,6 and 7. Posts 2, 3 and 4 have a slight slope. Post 8 is a plateau that precedes the final attack on the window at Post 9 with a steep slope rising between large stones. Get there early to get a place to climb (120 places per day). You go up with park guides in groups of 15 people. A good way to verify the physical condition is to do the piletones days before the trail, that will give an idea of the effort that is required in the high intensity posts.

(Translated by Google) They are very friendly and explain what you need. But honestly I don't like QRs. It is very convenient to receive all the information, pages and pages. I admit that, but at least they should continue providing a map of the city, it's easier to search for something like that, instead of swiping everywhere with your finger. The map is essential. Otherwise there are no complaints about the service.
Sierra de la Ventana is very beautiful, familiar, quiet, I have seen that most of the houses do not have bars, many leave the windows of their vehicles down and all that is inconceivable in Greater Buenos Aires. It's a shame about the spas due to the lack of water, the rivers have very little water. And perhaps the spas could be better decorated, more cared for, with cleanliness, places to sit, bathrooms. In very few places there are. Otherwise, it is a nice place to spend a mini vacation and explore the entire region.

It will be technologically advanced, but tourism in general likes to have a map, to see locations or mark what they have seen. Or plan excursions. The attitude of the lady who served left something to be desired. Tourism is the industry without chimneys. And all intangible services need friendly and pleasant people.
A weak point in the chain and for the customer, the entire service is bad. Here in Sierra de la Ventana, in Tourism they have a weak point that they should correct. A map, even if it is recycled paper, does not cost that much. And serve tourism well, much less.

Sprawling, upmarket castle hotel featuring chic quarters, complimentary meals & an outdoor pool.
Pros: One of the best places I've ever been in my life!! The castle was so beautiful, our room had a balcony and it was amazing!
Also there was a great schedule of activities all day long like empanadas + wine tasting, a tour around the estate, lunch with a show, yerba mate tasting, ghost stories, etc.
Also the food was absolutely amazing, I never expected a remote estate like this to have a really wide selection of amazing dishes!! Everything from snacks to lunch to dinner to dessert was amazing, their chef is insanely talented!
Cons: Lots and lots of mosquitos. Definitely bring bug spray. We had to buy some in the store. And there were a lot of bugs around the outdoor pool which made me and my girlfriend uncomfortable swimming there.
5/5, my favorite experience in Argentina and one of the best of my life!!!

We enjoyed our stay for the carnaval long weekend. We were in the suite real which was nice. I thought some of the space could be used better with a comfortable couch to sit on, but understand they are trying to use period furniture. The bathroom could also use an upgrade, but it was ok. Overall a good time especially for the price. The carnaval party/dinner was really cool with great entertainment. Massages were really good. Lots of fun activities related to wellness.

Beautiful property, good food and friendly staff.
We booked a colonial (family) room which does not at all compare with the charming room sold on the website. The bathroom is in desperate need for reservation, the toilet seat damaged and mold on the ceiling and it was poorly cleaned. At USD 500 a night for a hostel type room that was not clean we decided to leave after one night, as the alternative 3 rooms shown were in similar condition.

For the snack they closed with a folkloric show and a basket of fried cake, pudding and cupcakes + infusions. There are many farm animals and horseback riding, volleyball and soccer courts.

The breakfast was average since they only give you fried cake and we didn't have a table to sit at (they set up outside).
There are games for kids, ping pong, foosball and some animals. You can also take a ride on horseback. They have 2 pools with a bar.
Spectacular lunch! Minced meat, empanadas, chicken, meat and dessert.

Very good service! Claudia in the restaurant, love and the best service! ❤️

Due to the depth, the pool where the adults and children are located is separated from the other. It has bathrooms near the pool and others in the dining area so you don't have to move if you are bathing.
They are attentive to all needs.
The food was abundant and very rich.
Very friendly
In the pool area there is a bar where you can buy drinks and smoothies.
They welcome you with breakfast, then lunch and snack!

The attention is a 10, kindness in each of the people, the food is 100, the roast and everything they offer is delicious and for our baby who still does not eat everything they brought us well cooked chicken and tomato beforehand so that he could eat (without ask for it, they approached us to offer it) and all the time they were attentive to what we needed. The impeccable pools, the beautiful and very well-kept place. The truth is that it is worth going and getting to know it. Thank you!!!

The facilities are clean and neat, with a variety of things and sectors to entertain yourself. The animals all look well cared for. The beautiful pools and not a leaf inside, suitable for all ages. The truth is that the list of positive points is long and honestly they do not need to improve anything. I recommend bringing a blanket to lie on the grass and the mating equipment, they take care of the rest. Seriously, ideal for any family group/couple/friends to spend the whole day. They also sell some sweet-type products, etc. that we forgot to buy to try, but all homemade style. At snack time there was very nice live folklore music. To come back!

Located in Parque Criollo, the Museo Gauchesco Ricardo Güiraldes is a sprawling museum established in 1936. It primarily focuses on the local gaucho history and culture, with a special dedication to Ricardo Guiraldes, the author of Don Segundo Sombra. The entrance features a recreated pulperia from 1850, while the main displays are housed in a reproduction of an 18th-century casco.
Quiet and nice small museum of the gaucho Ricardo. There're a lot of items about gaucho lifestyle.

Loved it. Remote, but wonderful information, timelines, and artifacts from wagons to spurs, mate gourds, those things they threw to bind cattle legs, and many other things in several buildings. The little town nearby has decent helado and a place that makes alfajores and chocolates. I definitely recommend a visit even though it's a way outside BA.

This museum proudly exhibits horrific and racist paintings by Florencio Molina Campos. Do not go. I was disturbed and left the place crying. Awful.

The building was made to host the museum, as a replica of a house contemporary to the gauchos. It has a lot of gaucho artifacts and a timeline to grasp argentinean history.
Worth a visit.

Virtual Parkour of the Guiraldes museum. It's free and you will see the origins of the Gauchos there. La pulperia, different kind of horses ornament and tools to guide them, some history, etc. Then you can go and visit the rest of San Antonio de Areco.

The Basilica de Luján is a vast Catholic church showcasing impressive gothic architecture, intricate statuary, and a religious gift shop. It offers an excellent destination for visitors to explore, with numerous stores and stands offering souvenirs. The friendly atmosphere of the church is complemented by its beautiful surroundings, making it a fantastic place to visit for anyone interested in exploring the rich history of Catholicism.

The Zoo Lujan, spanning 37 acres, is a popular and long-standing attraction that features a petting barn and regularly scheduled guided tours. Visitors can also enjoy the playground and BBQ grills on site. The diverse range of cute animals roaming freely provides an exciting experience for kids who can also get up close with them. The restaurant and snack shop offer similar food options with decent meals available for lunchtime.
Lots of cute animals strolling around the place. They have also guided tour every half an hour. The guides are friendly and helpful. The food is more of the same, it has a restaurant and a snack shop. Both serve about the same food. But it has a decent meal if you want to have lunch. The more dangerous animals are well behaved and very well treated. They are not abused.
Pedro Werneck — Google review
Very average. Can no longer touch tigers and lions. Plus can't ride elephants or camels like you used to be able to. Gets 2 stars because the birds were very interesting and great experience, plus we stroked the camel and snake. The ground were poorly kept and animals were very sleepy. Very disappointed ☹️

For my kids it's great because they can touch and be up close to the animals, nice area to bring your own picnic also.

Contrary to the idea, the zoo is not a huge one... But the best thing about it is you can take pictures with tigers and Lions and can touch and feed other animals too... Overall a great experience indeed.

This is a very special place. Please note, it’s a short drive outside of the city and the other are purely ground. Unique experience in many ways. Argentinians get charged less, but remember, foreigners don’t pay 21% taxes when traveling within the country, so I would stop complaining.

Absolutely amazing zoo, one of the only zoos in the world that lets you enter the cages! Genuine pics... They have a huge collection of both South American and African animals, and you can get closer than anywhere else.
Marcus Win — Google review
Animals do not seem to be well treated. Those that you can play look dumb and lazy (maybe doped). In general, the zoo is not in good shape. If you are planning to go to Buenos Aires, consider visiting the Temaiken Zoo.
Édnei Luiz Balduino — Google review
A wonderful place for wild life lover. The zoo is famous for tiger lion and pythons . It's outside of the city arround 60KM, you will hardly find any cab for return, so ask the can driver to stay their meanwhile you roam around. The entrance fee is 900 peso , that is a bit high. You can hardly spend 2-3 hours their.
