How long is the drive from Fuzhou to Shanghai?
The direct drive from Fuzhou to Shanghai is 473 mi (761 km), and should have a drive time of 8 hrs 48 mins in normal traffic.

Best stops along Fuzhou to Shanghai drive
The top stops along the way from Fuzhou to Shanghai (with short detours) are Xi Lake, Jiashan Xitang Ancient Town Scenic Area (West Gate), and Shanghai Zhujiajiao Ancient Town Tourist Zone. Other popular stops include Tongli Ancient Town, Lingyin Temple, and Qibao Ancient Town.
Song Dynasty Town is a cultural and amusement park in Hangzhou, China that offers a variety of attractions. It features haunted houses, Vegas-style shows, and displays of Chinese folk art. The park was developed to imitate the style of the Song Dynasty, with performers and staff dressed in period costumes. Visitors can explore different areas for activities and performances while enjoying luxuriant bamboo groves, tea houses, and public houses.
Massively impressive tourist town. Plenty of food and trinket vendors. Lots of free games you can take part in like crossing a waist deep pit of water by hopping across rocks or pulling yourself across with metal hoops. The haunted house was horribly made and pointless. I do not recommend it. The show and main attraction is incredible. Absolutely worth the money to go see it if you're anywhere near Hangzhou.

A massively impressive Song dynasty- theme park with multiple performances which will wow you. Lots of variety of food and drinks. The main performance in Theatre 1 was spectacular with a display of CGI, special effects, gymnasts, flying stunts, and elaborately dressed dancers.
The earthquake performance in Theatre 5 is worth your time too. Invoked many emotions.
There are also VR and 3D activities eg dinasour and Star Wars experiences.
The entire parked is covered ie you can enjoy the place rain or shine.
My only gripe is the fact that everything is in mandarin and therefore one misses out on many nuances if one isn’t a native mandarin speaker.
Nrbethelrsd I still enjoyed the experience.

The #1 show for the town is the highlight. Good choreography and performance. The rest of the town was ok with some eateries here n there. Maybe we went there off peak , not many other shows avail and quite quiet. Most pple leave after #1 show ended

Don’t go in weekend, please go in weekdays, so many local mainland chinese people, they are so rude and impolite. If you go here make sure to watch theater show it cost almost 200 rmb, will tell you stories about this place and white snake legend (very famous in china its about love beetwen human and semi-demon)
This place is huge you can take picture for a whole day. Remember i went here in weekdays. Dont go here in weekend.

Great performances, minor niggle would be that there is no option to listen in english. But this doesnt stop the costumes and dancing from being amazing to watch. Well worth a visit!

Hangzhou is my favorite Chinese city. It reminds me of commercial Savannah, Ga or Atlanta. Yes, I am beginning to miss the USA. It's November with cool mornings and evenings with mild temperatures.
The green tea factory is here and the scenery is stunning. I want to return. If you come 4 a visit, staying at the 5 star Grand Park Hotel is a must.

Hi I’m working here in this amazing park, where I experienced time travel every second I want. Come and visit us. I m willing to help u to understand Chinese culture and history. It is said that Hangzhou is paradise in China and Song Dynasty was the best period of China among 5000 years history. Come to enjoy in the very vivid Chinese park and see a fantastic romance show here. Feel free to call me.

Lingyin Temple, dating back to 328 CE and rebuilt after suffering damage from fires and warfare, is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in the city. The main hall houses a remarkable 24.8-meter-high statue of Sakyamuni, showcasing exquisite carving artistry that captivates all who see it. Located near West Lake and Xixi National Wetland Park, this celebrated monastery is a must-visit for those exploring Hangzhou's cultural heritage.
Biggest temple in Hangzhou, nice view and many shops on the hill.
Great to visit here.

- This temple is located in Hangzhou city. It's so famous with a lot of visitors since very morning time and even more in the late morning till afternoon
- There are 3 temples located in this huge area where Lingyin Temple is the biggest and it's at front after dropping from car or bus
- The ticket process is so complicated. There are 2 steps for ticketing. One is at the main entrance and the another one is in front of Lingyin temple area
- The gods houses are set in layer from down to top as represent gods position in the heaven
- The temple and view is so beautiful. People come here for their believe and pray which make the place in peace even with a high number of people. It's worth to come!!!

Must visit!! This place is beautiful, very large temple with many places to see & visit. To understand the culture & history I highly recommend booking a guide to show you around.
There are also many accommodation options nearby right on the mountain which I stayed at and was able to explore this area for 2 days.
There is a mountain (Fahua Temple) out the back of Lingyin temple area which has amazing views and was also a nice hike up the mountain which had a smaller temple up the top. (See pictures & videos towards the end for reference)

Not to be missed if you are in Hangzhou. There are several temples buildings with different themes or purposes. The hall with 500 monks was fascinating, you could spend hours in that building looking at the myriads of emotion, activity, and expression captured in each sculpture. I have never seen anything quite like it.

45 RMB gets you access to the Temple with its various buildings, caves, and surrounding scenery. Could easily spend an entire morning or afternoon here. Expensive tea and a definite tourist trap it is, but the history and tranquility can be appreciated for quite some time. Can be crowded but so can any place on a weekend.

Incredibly beautiful and spiritual Buddhist temple from the year 326. So many amazing things to see, statues over 100 feet tall, sculptures in the sides of mountains, beautiful architecture and more. You can easily spend a whole day at the temple, be prepared to walk a lot of steps. There are many meal and snack options here as well. Definitely recommend visiting for truly breathtaking views you’ll remember for a lifetime.
Jeff Cooperhouse — Google review
Beautiful place to visit. Unfortunately, there is almost nothing in English. So, for tourists without a guide, a lot of information is missed. However it worth the visit anyway. Expect to spend at least 3 or 4 hours in this visit.

Lingyin Temple (灵隐寺) in Hangzhuo is definitely a place to visit for those who are interested in Buddhist sculptures that were craved out from the hill rocks more than 1,000 years ago and the hall of the famous Master Jigong (济公活佛) for his wild and eccentric behavior and didn't follow Buddhist monastic rules by consuming alcohol and meat.
There will be a lot of walking and steps to climb, so go in a pair of comfortable shoes.
To go by the metro, can take Line 10 and Exit A, and there is a direct bus that could fetch you directly to the temple. Payment is best with Alipay (公交车) in Hangzhuo, of course 😁

I didn’t take any pictures according to the policy. I have visited it since I was little with my grandmother regularly. If you believe in 菩萨, then you would be blessed and get what you were prayed for! I love this temple very much and highly recommended when you are visiting Hangzhou! 菩萨保佑! 偶弥陀佛!

One of the most famous Buddhist temples in China and the largest temple in Hangzhou. The temple was built more than 1600 years ago. Just realized that the temple's name can be translated as the Temple of the Soul's Retreat; which is so poetic. The grounds are huge and one can easily spend hours touring the temple.
Xixi National Wetland Park, located in the western part of Hangzhou, China, is a vast ecological wetland covering an area of 2800 acres. It features numerous ponds and lakes interconnected by six main waterways. The park holds great cultural significance with a history dating back over 1800 years and is home to the White Tower, a historical homage to West Lake's cultural heritage.
Great environment here.
The boat master is very experienced.
He knows a little history about the place, will sing and introduce the place for us.
Natural views that are well maintained from the emperor’s generation.
Boat tickets a little expensive for one/ two hours ride.
Smooth and stable experience on the boat itself.
No dizziness nor bad experience.

Great wetland park. Best is to tour it on boat. There is also a very nice hotel inside the park and you can only get to the rooms by boat.

Xixi National Wetland Park in Hangzhou, China, is a really pretty place with small lakes, water ways and lots of nature. It has a peaceful walking path and has traditional buildings and wooden Chinese architecture. You can even take a boat ride and enjoy the quiet and beautiful surroundings. Tour bus is also available inside the garden to make it comfortable for the visitors. Refer to my photos for a perfect glimpse of the garden.
Enjoy!

A 5A rated natural park with numerous ponds and water channels. It is impossible to enjoy the whole view of this place in one day. Just seat on a boat and sailing between island or under small bridges. This area is well preserved, in spite of its near a huge city.
K Joe — Google review
Pretty cool wetland to visit, however, seems a bit over-priced.
Even though they say it's a natural wetland, I will feel like it's geared towards tourists too much, so the convenience of boat rides, shops, and little restaurants among the wetland area gave me a feeling that it ISN'T so natural. The roads have been paved over the land to make easy access for tourists, and that contradicts the concept of wetland to me. Also, the explanations done by the tour guide on the boat was only available in Chinese, so I assume I missed a lot of important information to get to know this wetland area better. I still like the fact that China is putting consideration in creating wetlands, which are good for species habitat and water.
I wish the tour would involve less civilization and give a chance for more engaging experience of the nature itself.
Youngsung Byun — Google review
Beautiful wetlands, calm oasis if you can avoid the crowds. There are interesting shops in here, e.g. homemade rice wine etc. boat tours are worth it, and you can see much of the park this way. get off and walk wherever you can.

Last month i was joined this activities. The name of this activity is “beauty run” . The location in xixi wetland national park this place are very beautifull they have many a lot of garden and many kinds of flower in this area. You can enjoy with your friend to make some picnic or look around their nature. So fresh air and their facilities are nice. Don’t worry about the price. I think it’s not expensive to enter this attractions.

This place is really recommended place, just near the west lake, and also near Alibaba, super large, it takes 2 days to finish all the park, if you only have half or 1 day, then just take the main route, get inside from Zhoujiacun, and recommend you take enter ticket + boat ticket together, because the boat ticket is really great and comfortable, the boat ticket can get off and get in 4 times on 4 different ports, when you get off the boat, take your time, and go to the next port and wait for the boat to the next port, BTW, if you don't want to buy the ticket, it's also ok, because half of the park are free to public and also very beautiful

East end of the lake facing the city is pretty crowded and may be initially off-putting due to the ruckus. Ancient Town Fengjing is a lesser-known gem, often overlooked in favor of Tongli, but it offers a more genuine experience. It features the same rich culture and stunning scenery without the crowds. Visitors can expect a tranquil and unhurried ambiance, ideal for relaxation. One must-try delicacy here is the special soy sauce pork leg slice, unique to Fengjing.

This place was wonderful! I spent 3 days staying in a very nice small hotel next to the water(about 30 usd a night).
During the day you can walk around checking out the sights or stopping at a local coffee shop to relax. There's also restaurants and shopping you can do.
At night you can also enjoy the night views or go enjoy the night life. They have several bars and night clubs if you are into that.
Oh and they filmed Mission Impossible 3 here.. Cool!!

My favorite city I visited in China. It is small and simple but full of history and fun. The food is amazing and you will not find another city that is as beautiful as this one. The rivers at sunset make the city glow.
Tongli Ancient Town, located in the southern outskirts of Suzhou, is a well-known water town with a history of over 1000 years. The town is characterized by its intricate network of rivers that divide it into several parts, creating a picturesque setting with old residences and hidden gardens. This ancient town has also served as the backdrop for shows adapted from Wuxia novels.
Like stepping into the pages of a Wuxia novel; in fact, some shows adapted from those books were filmed here. Love that it's off season as crowds were minimal and on the rainy days, we feel like we had the town to ourselves. Be wary of the electric scooters, though. They can sneak up on you as they don't make any sound. Also, some merchants are aggressive and unscrupulous and will lure you into their stores with free samples; as soon as you enter the store, you are an insect in a Venus fly trap! Also, most of the restaurants inside the old city serve pretty much the same dishes. For more variety, go into the regular part of town.

Thames Town, situated in Songjiang, Shanghai, is a unique destination designed to resemble a classic English village. The town features charming cobbled streets and picturesque Tudor-style homes that exude an authentic British countryside ambiance. Upon entering Thames Town, visitors are transported into a European movie-like setting with every detail reflecting strong British influences. The iconic Gothic-style church at the town's center adds to the enchanting atmosphere reminiscent of ancient English churches.
around 30 mins bike ride (10mins didi) from the closest metro station. Nice scenery while you walking really different image of shanghai id advise taking a cab there from the metro than cycling back. The town itself is a average rendition of an English town. handful of cafes and gift shops worth dropping into . Towards the lake has lovely landscape and ideal for Dates, Picnics etc.
Shannon Luciano — Google review
Feel a little cheated to come all the way here and there is nothing much. It’s not really worth it unless you have a lot of time to spare in Shanghai. Or you are looking for somewhere to take wedding photo. Thames town is a residential estate so don’t expect anything to shop or even eat. Just a few eateries targeting on tourist. The place is not very big so you can finish in half an hour. A lot of couples took their wedding shots here.
Hazel Yew — Google review
I don't know where to start. At some point this was maybe a good idea but then hardly anyone moved in and those who did moved out because no commerce got started and then the weeds and wedding photography studios took over. I feel sorry for anybody like me who thought they could grab a pint in a proper local pub. I was trying the door for far too long before it dawned on me there is nobody home in Thames Town. It should be rebranded as a huge Britain-themed film lot.
Drew Bates — Google review
Fairly interesting 'British Town' in Shanghai. Has a church, winding cobbled streets and mock tudor housing. Could be improved with 'british' cafes or even a British pub! It is a bit of a ghost town to be honest. There are quite a lot of couples taking pre-wedding photos which is nice. If taking the subway, get out at Songjiang Xincheng (Line 9) and take the bus (松江16) rather than walking the whole way, as it's quite a walk (about an hour). It's free to walk around.

Shanghai Zhujiajiao Ancient Town Tourist Zone, often called the Venice of Shanghai, is a historic water town with a legacy spanning over 1700 years. This charming destination is renowned for its ancient temples, traditional houses, and picturesque bridges that showcase its cultural significance.
A good chill-out place to go in Shanghai area. Tourists can get to there by subway directly which is very convenient. Ancient buildings beside the river make people feel like walking in the past. Many restaurants and street foods are available, and tourists can even pay to get on a boat for river sightseeing.
Antony Li — Google review
If you are in Shanghai and have half a day to spare, an ideal destination will be Zhujiajiao 朱家角. As in other water towns, there are many bridges here. Fangsheng 放生(Release into Freedom) with its 5 round arches being the most prominent. There are folks peddling small fish🐟, tortoise 🐢 to visitors to be released into the waterways. Then there are others in small boats nearby ready to scoop them up for resale, how ironic. Well, just enjoy the scenery, boat ride and food in this ancient town.
Sukuan Hon — Google review
Great experience! The town is culturally enriching as the vendors live behind or above their shop. Families work together and it’s a tight knot community. Some owners even have microphones to get you to visit, it’s very interesting.
They have shops that cook fresh fish, crab and even turtle for you - literally you pick the one you want. I wasn’t a fan of this, but it’s culturally acceptable so it was interesting to look at. Not sure on pricing because I didn’t opt into this....
Need Weechat to purchase most things, cash is accepted at some places as well.
Restrooms are difficult to find, be sure to go when you enter.

Beautiful little water town with lots of history. Expect to do a lot of walking as the streets are a bit of a maze and lots of little stalls to stop at. Great for lots of local foods at a relatively low price (given it is a tourist location). There are paid attractions but the town itself is free to enter. I particularly enjoyed the soy sauce market/shop which sold many local marinated/pickled goods.
Getting to zhujiajiao from shanghai city was relatively simple, albeit a significantly long journey. We too the mtro line 2 from nanjing road to hongqiao airport station, then switched to line 17 to zhujiajiao station. Metro fare was ¥8 one way for an adult. Be reminded that bags need to go through scanning for metros, so leave sharp objects at home. Going into the town, there is the option to hail a ride, rent a bike, or buy a boat ticket. The little boat is 20 min long, ¥40 per person and will take you directly to the middle of the water town, so while pricey, i thought it was worth it.
You can send a postcard to yourself at the post office here (they offer international postage), and also visit some temples dating back to the ming/qing dynasty.
The night view is spectacular along the river, but the streets will be pitch dark (little to no street lights). Store owners are very friendly and will happily guide you to the metro station if asked. A bit of a walk back to the station (maybe 15 min at a brisk walk) but not too bad.
This was one of my favourite tourist spots during my stay in shanghai, so if you like old style buildings/environments, i highly recommend taking the journey here.

Just what you wanted to see when you decided to visit a historical part of China and not going too far away from Shanghai. Most people take the metro to come here, but instead I got a taxi from Didi app (Chinese Uber) and saved both time and my legs (specially on the way back after a few hours walking) and just relaxed on my way back to Shanghai. You will find lots of shops, tea houses, temples, bridges, gondolas and people, lots of people. Very enjoyable short trip , a perfect place for photos, street food, souvenirs and a glimpse of what life was like in ancient China.

A small beautiful ancient Chinese village at outskirt of Shanghai, settled at the bank or Caogang river & rivulets. Many older looking Chinese houses were lined at both side of river & transportation was by boat. A lot of stone arch bridges crossed the walkway for pedestrians. Many traditional Chinese shops, restaurants & emerging modern western restaurants were there. We were delighted to see a store selling dried snakes, sea horses, scorpions & various fishes. Pig legs, chicken feet, whole baby chicken, whole pork thigh etc. in different soya sauce were on display for sale. Also called Venice of Shanghai was a good place to visit.

Jinji Lake is a stunning attraction located in the Suzhou Industrial Park area. This picturesque lake offers a change of pace from the historic gardens of Suzhou and spans an impressive 10 square kilometers. The area surrounding the lake features beautiful parks, residential areas, and businesses along a 15 km walkway. Visitors can enjoy various spots around Jinji Lake including cultural exhibitions, shopping areas, leisure spots, urban sightseeing locations, and central waterscapes.
I mostly enjoy walking around the 14 km pedestrian walkway around Jiniji Lake. It's a bit commercialized, but if you walk it late at night, it's peaceful and beautiful. AND...the only public drinking fountain I've found in China!! At least 5 of the spaced around the lake. Don't worry; the water is boiled, put in a holding tank, then pumped to the faucet as you drink from it. :-)
Jamie Obermeyer — Google review
Just one word to completely describe the lake: Breathtaking!
The lake is Huge! And it is very easily reachable by the subway. The stop for the lake is Dongfangzhimen (exit no 4). This is on line 1.
On the station, you can see the sign (english text also available!)
Lake is just outside the exit of the station.
Coming back to lake, it is really huge. It occupies about 7 sq km (info from wiki). The view is amazing. You can just sit along the shore and keep looking at the beauty of the lake for hours! Though there are many things to do along the shore as well. There are couple of islands in this lake, which are reachable by ferry. Then there is theme park. There is small water sports area, children play area, walking track, cycling track.
This is place, where you can go solo, go as couple, go with family or even go with friends..
Kind of a perfect getaway for every occasion.

This historic water town features traditional buildings, winding waterways, and picturesque bridges. While entry is free, some attractions may have an admission fee. The town offers a unique culinary experience with local specialties like spicy pork dishes and crickets.
One of the ancient towns in Shanghai. Used to visit when I was living in Shanghai. Nice alleys filled with all kinds of knick knacks and interesting food from Stinky tofu to Balut type eggs.
Today we ate a green glutinous rice cake only available in spring, filled with black sesame, red bean paste or pork floss with salted egg yolk. Delicious.
Also ordered a UNESCO World Heritage food called Guan Dan. It’s basically egg yolk filled with a minced meat paste and then boiled. Served with soup that has coriander and seaweed. Yummy!

Such an amazing place to visit, see the real chinese ways of things less modernised compared to Yuyuan downtown, but theres the thick oily mixed with dirt smell during hot summers which is intense. Lovely long streets, theres a temple towards the other side but Jade Buddha and Jingan are 10 folds better. 7 minutes walk from metro station.

Just a short street, gets crowded easily. Only visit it if you do not hv the time for longer side trips whilst in Shanghai. Try the stinky tofu or local wrapped glutinous rice (changs). The changs come with various fillings - good as snacks or even for breakfast.
For bigger ancient Watertowns, try Suzhou area. The nearest would be Zhujiajiao n Zhouzhuang; try Jinxi for the authentic experience, less touristy.

A beautiful Ancient Town dating back to around the 1200's. The town includes the Bell Temple and tons of restaurants and shops. The town is beautiful when the sun sets and everything lights up in incredible red and green hues. Qibao is a hidden gem located just off of one of the main roads in Shanghai. The shops have everything from small souvenirs and trinkets to purses, clothes, and shoes. In addition to the many restaurants, there are street food vendors mixed in with the shops of Qibao where, if you're brave enough, you can experience Chinese food that is as authentic as it gets. We were glad that we stumbled across Qibao and look forward to walking the streets of Qibao again during future visits to Shanghai. It was a wonderful experience visiting a town that's more than 500 years older than the country I call home (America). There is a bridge over the Puhui River where you can get some great photos of the shops and restaurants that line both sides of the water on either side of the bridge. Qibao is also known for their crickets and, I believe, the cricket fights in the arena. I didn't see the cricket fights, but I did see some of the crickets and they are HUGE! I've never seen anything like it. Qibao is worth the visit if for no other reason than to see the biggest crickets I've ever seen (by far).

Qibao Ancient Town is one of the places recommended as a tourist attraction. I, however, found that the area is too dry and hot on September due to less trees around the area compared to Yuyuan Garden.
The place is packed full of people and there are tons of street food vendors as well as knick knacks for you to look at, but not a lot of them are interesting enough for me to actually stop and look around inside.
The main entrance has a pretty tall bell tower that you can’t miss, and the area unique layout due to waterways around this ancient city makes it a great scenery to take pictures.
The downside other than the heat was how green the river is, not exactly algae green but more a muddy green, and the attractions around this ancient city is not exactly open or fun to experience. It’s OK but there are other areas in Shanghai that you might want to visit instead. Plus, the ride to get there was quite far from the central Shanghai area.

The Shanghai Auto Museum is a must-visit for car enthusiasts, showcasing a diverse collection of vintage vehicles and classic cars. Located in the Shanghai Auto Expo Park at Anting Town of Jiading District, the museum offers an extensive look at the past 100 years of automobile history. With over 70 rare vehicles on display, visitors can explore the evolution of modern cars and learn about the assembly of different car parts.
Well curated museum and lots of information as long as you get a guide. Without a guide you're just looking at the eye candy. It's in the middle of nowhere if you are staying in downtown Shanghai so it may be a trek. If you love cars though, it's worth a visit. Although imyou may have seen all these cars before with the exception of the China specific cars.

Visited in February 22, on a Sunday. Started to get busy in the afternoon, but quiet in the morning. The museum shows great samples well preserved historical cars from different countries. It is definitely worth a visit if you like history of transportation. You also get a glimpse of what Shanghai looked 100 years ago for transport , roads and traffic.

Car museum located in the Anting Shanghai International Auto City area. Definitely a must see if you are interested in cars especially classic cars. 60 RMB for an adult ticket.
Open Tuesday-Sunday 9:30am to 4:30pm. Closed earlier in the day than expected so take note to get there earlier. I easily spent over 3 hours browsing the 3 floors of cars and information.
First floor has the history of the automobile from the wheel to the first diesel engine, auto transmission, and assembly line. Lots of cool stuff to see.
Next floor has a history of the automobile in China.
3rd floor is comprised of antique classic car collections and an extended range of miniature car models.
On the top level there is a learning and discovering area for children and adults which teaches you about how cars work and the parts of the car (engine combustion cycle, transmission, suspension, steering, etc.) All of the children's stuff is in Chinese however. Also F1 racing simulators on this level.
There is a gift shop by the entrance that sales lots of miniature car models.
Great if you can occupy yourself, not many guide options and only restroom I saw was on the top floor.
Definitely check it out for the classic cars alone.

It's a nice escape for a walk. It has a small entrance fee. They have done a good job to keep things beautiful and give the visitors the feeling that they are in a "traditional" Chinese garden. It also has a Buda temple. But you can say that nothing is original there, from the waters up in the hill (no spring nearby) to some "rocks" that are actually painted foam. It's about a 3Hours walk to see everything at the park and it sure worth the effort and time.

I was just concluding a business trip in China and had to extend the flight out of Pudong international to go to the UBS (then) racing circuit to watch the race over 50kms from where I was residing. I was so fortunate that this was the last season that the v8 awesome sounding cars were to be used before the dawn of the hybrid era. I was so exhilarated that instead of plugging the ear buds provided on entry, into my ears, I instead threw them in my pocket just to enjoy the engine sounds. It was indeed one of my life's numerous exciting moments. I just love the ambience, the crowds and of course the sounds at racing circuits, be it motogp, F1 or WRC. I hope F1 will soon return to that fantastic circuit.
