The Tonlé Sap Biosphere Reserve is a vital sanctuary for aquatic birds and forms part of the Prek Toal floating village, where these birds have made their home. A visit to this area would be an excellent addition to your itinerary, especially after exploring Angkor Wat Temple Park. The Queen Tara Riverboat offers overnight stays, providing an opportunity to witness the bird sanctuary at first light.

Tonlé Sap Lake is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia and boasts of being one of the most abundant inland fishing grounds globally. Kompong Phluk, among the three main villages neighboring the lake (Chong Kneas, Kompong Khleang, and Kompong Phluk), is easily accessible via a short tuk-tuk ride from Siem Reap town center since it lies on the northeastern side of Tonlé Sap.
You may feel like you came to a sea but this is the largest freshwater lake in southeast Asia. It has been designated as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1997 due to its high biodiversity.
Now come to the point what you will get as a tourist. You need to buy tickets to get to this lake through a muddy road. There are different sizes of boats of different size of groups. Anyway i would suggest to get a small motor boats if you are alone or 4/5 persons. This will help you to move fast and also see the fishermen families living on the water villas/houses for around 100 years.
There are number of floating restaurants that serve local dishes, sea foods along with special crocodile meat; you heard me right…these boats are mini crocodile farms as well.
To have the best of tonle sap lake, go more inside to the lake, stop the boat motor and enjoy the sunset. Its so refreshing and relaxing. On the way back to Siam Reap, try road side restaurants for fresh fish grill from the lake. Dont miss it.
Fazal Mahmud Roni — Google review
You drive 1 hour south of Siem Reap into the hinder lands.
The boats are old and there isn't a dock, just a gang plank to board the boat.
The area and lifestyle is interesting. mainly a fishing area because of the lake that flows into the Mekong River.
All the houses are built on stilts because the river raises almost 20 feet during the rainy season.
Richard Schagrin — Google review
Do focus on what the locals are doing on the shores of the lake and on the lake to appreciate the vastness of this great body of water.
Naturally, all economic, social and cultural activities are based around this body of water.
As the size and spread of Tonle Sap change with the coming and going of the monsoon, houses of locals along the shore of the lake are built on stilts to accommodate the rising of water level.
For locals who make their homes on boathouses, they actually raise anchor and move to different locations around the lake as water level changes.
Boats of assorted shapes are seen everywhere. Locals reside on them, catch fish on them, commute by them.
Adults can be seen repairing their boats and building new ones on land and by the shore.
Children can be seen having a lot of fun running up and down the sand dunes by the shore.
Everywhere you look, something is going on. Though a foreign visitor like me may find the living standard still needs some catching up, Tonle Sap and the air that surrounds it is filled with energy and positiveness. In turn, the people who have relied on and respected this lake for many many years are rewarded with simple but genuine joy.

The lake is nice under sunset. However in dry season water is shallow and troubled. Fishermen living in that area are very poor and deserved better care by the government.

Before the tour I had read so many bad reviews of this place that I had mentally prepared myself for the worst. However, my experience wasn't bad at all.
Firstly the ferry prices are fixed - we took the 28USD one - one which fits 5pax. If you have lesser people in the group, unfortunately that's the cheapest option out there. The trip starts when you get to the pier > btw there are cameramen there who'd click your pic to sell on a plate souvenir - it's impossible to dodge them, they would try to sell those at the end of the trip to you. Next we had gone there at about 4pm to see the sunset and such, so they took us through the floating villages, past the mangroves, to the crocodile farm with an attached restaurant and lastly to the sunset view point. There is much to see when passing by the floating houses - it's interesting to see how in different parts of the world, cultures can vary.
The trip is about an hour and some. The additional costs incurred would be the tip for the driver which was reminded about by the tour guide.
From what I read- the rip off happens in the morning when the tour guides add in extra activities like a walking tour of a school and the village. I'm glad that didn't happen to me and so I had a good time.

Tonle Sap Lake is a seasonally inundated fresh water lake with an attached river. Tonle Sap river connects the lake to the Mekong river. We (me Brijmohan and my spouse Sarika) visited Tonle Sap on 28th November 2023 afternoon alongwith approximately hundred companions of our Bhartiya (Indian) Dharmayatra trip. We ride the four boats and took a round trip of the Tonle Sap village and the river. The freshwater was looking like an ocean. The local river market, restaurants, indigenous people, fishing persons and comparative poor citizens of the village where tourism is a main source of income.

An experience that’s worth visiting oonche in your life! I was amazed to see the life of people living in a water village. It was such an enriching cultural experience.
We met the locals who were so kind and got to see the school above water.
Boat ride on the the lake which has muddy water that takes you to one of its kind restaurant in middle of the lake is such a lovely experience.
The food was 10/10 and so was the hospitality. We saw gators 🐊 and if you like you can try gator cuisine as well.

Tonle Sap is one of the largest freshwater lakes in Southeast Asia. It is so huge that we couldn't see the opposite shore. It was designated as a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1997 due to its high biodiversity.
It is part of the Mekong River system.
The part of the river that leads to the lake is home to a unique group of people who live on the water. You will also see the mangrove forest.
We took a private boat ride to the lake, but unfortunately due to bad weather we had to turn back sooner than we'd have liked. We stopped for tea at the village restaurant. They had beautiful souvenirs for sale made by the local women. We bought some stationery that we donated to the local school.
Do partake of this experience, it is really unique and the people are also very warm and friendly.

Top ways to experience Cambodia’s Kampong Chhnang floating village and nearby attractions
Visit Cambodge — Google review
One of the best tourist attractions of Kampong Chhnang must be the floating village. First, you catch a tuk tuk to the tourist port area (about 5 minutes from downtown) and then a local boatperson takes you down to the riverside and helps you get in a small boat. It takes about thirty minutes to get to the actual floating village, passing a mosque and several groups of fishing boats on the way.
The village itself is made up of 100s of clusters of 6 to 8 house boats lashed together and anchored in place. Often there is a communal deck area and a small shop (like a mini mart) attached as well. The house boats range from the very crude such as a tarp over one end of a canoe to the sophisticated, including boats with solar panels and satellite dishes.
The villagers go about their daily lives of cooking, doing laundry, repairing boats, playing with kids and dogs and so on, paying little or no attention to the tourists who are there to observe them.
At $25-30 (depending on your negotiating skills), it is not the cheapest attraction perhaps but it is well worth it in my opinion

Decided not to tour around not take photos here, as these are people's homes. Most in the floating village are Vietnamese fisherman that live precariously on what they catch. This floating village does not have the tourist money that the ones near Siem Reap do. A lot of poverty apparent and reminds me of native American reservations that you may drive through.

For 25 dollars for 2 we were able to visit the floating village for 2 hours with a discreet guide who did not speak English. The visit was generally not too intrusive for the villagers even if we felt a little embarrassed to visit their living spaces like this. You can meet the guide at the town pier, the tuk tuk takes you there easily.

Bonne expérience, le village est grand, il aurait été déplacé récemment d'apres le chauffeur du tuktuk. Such delicious food after a day of making memories that will last for a life time. We went to ten other countries and our stay here remains one of the tops!

The property is really nice, food very good but it is directly located at the main highway to Siem Reap. This means traffic noise 24/365 and dust in general. We had extra bad luck due to 2 weddings going on at the same moment with equally irritating and loud music. Our room was not prepared as he seemed to have forgotten our booking. so double check with him if you do book. After staying in the room for an hour or so we decided to leave as we anticipated a night without sleeping. Rico, the owner, demanded full pay for the night. This did not seem reasonable. We offered to pay half and finally paid what he asked for as he became pretty agressive. Will never go again and will only recommend to die hard motor drivers (this does seem to be Rico's passion) who bring good quality earplugs and/or are used to lots of traffice noise. :-)

Oudong is a Cambodian town positioned at the foot of Phnom Udong Mountain, which is located in the northwest of Phnom Penh. It was once the royal capital between the 17th and 19th centuries. The mountain has two hills that are joined by a ridge, adorned with stupas and shrines built to honor former monarchs.

Look...spiders are my worst fear, so it's big that I walk amidst these people who carry the tarantulas around and let you hold them.
All the things they have for sale is quite interesting. I'd advise to buy a pomelo not pre peeled. You want to do that yourself just to be safe.
I did have a bad experience where a girl put a tarantula on me even tho I said a firm no! It was a bit traumatic to be honest...so be careful!

A plethora of insects deep fried and made somewhat tasteful/palatable with garlic, onions and other spices. Very cool stop with locals selling insect cuisine. For a dollar per scorpion and tarantula, it was a once in a lifetime taste experience. The scorpion just tasted like deep fried cardboard. The tarantula actually had a decent meaty texture. The crickets and silk worm pupae were alright tasting.

Not for the faint hearted. I tried tarantula and scorpion. Very crunchy. There were many other insects, bugs etc for sale. It was a highlight for me. Al-Serkal Mosque
Mosque
Sights & Landmarks
Sacred & Religious Sites
The Al-Serkal Mosque, located in Phnom Penh, is easily accessible by tuk-tuk due to its distance from the city center. Despite being a large mosque, it has a relatively small number of worshippers. Interestingly, there are more fans inside the mosque than there are Muslims. Considering that Cambodia is a developing country with poverty issues, some may find the grandeur of the mosque excessive.
Alhamdulillah!!
What a nice mosque in Cambodia!
Very clean and safe and has wide space for parking so that people can come with their vehicles and pray their prayers.
Wish to visit this mosque in every waqt!
H M REDWAN TAREQ — Google review
The mosque is easily reached by tuk2 because it was a bit far from my stay in Phnom Penh.
Big mosque with low number of congregants. There were more fans than the Muslims in the mosque.
For a developing country struggling with poverty, i think the mosque itself is a bit excessive.
There are few halal (Muslim owned) restaurants nearby but I doubt the cleanliness standard.

Al-Serkal Mosque, is a relatively big mosque in Phnom Penh. I guess this is the biggest mosque in Phnom Penh or even in Cambodi. It is located just behind the Phnom Penh Hotel and Calmette Hospital.
During the Covid-19, the Al-Serkal Mosque tighten the implementation of health protocol. Each visitor os requested to check his body temperature, hand sanitizer and register his attendance by filling in his name, phone number, signature. Visitor is offered with face mask too. This will help the related Cambodian authority in doing their tracking job in case there is Covid-19 case among the congregations.
Entering the mosque, each visitor can occupy a space marked with a red marker. You are seated 1,5 meter away from each other to your left, right, front and back. I see the visitors strictly obey the arrangement.
I believe the people's strict discipline to the health protocol help a lot to Cambodia's successful in containing the Covid-19 Pandemic. As of today, Friday, 15 January 2021, Cambodia recorded around 410 Covid-19 case; with no fatality, so far.

The biggest mosque in Cambodia I think. Ottoman design, beautiful structure with air-conditioned main hall. Fully carpeted inside. The ablutions area for men is on the left side of the entrance. Really calming place. Plenty of car park area and halal food available just outside. The caretaker is a very nice man and we were able to speak to him and ask about the mosque since we went at a off-peak time. He also switched on the chandelier lights when he saw me taking photos which was really nice. The interior has only 1 main hall and it's really beautiful and soothing. The most interesting place in phnom penh for me.
The Cambodia Railway Station, also known as the Phnom Penh Railway Station, is a grand restored 1910 building that was originally constructed in Art Deco style in 1932. Despite its tumultuous past, including being used as a meeting hall by Pol Pot during his regime, the station is now gaining traction with the reopening of services to the Thailand border after 45 years and the recent opening of an airport train.
Railway Station, Phnom Penh 🚂
Two antique steam locomotives are on display at the railway station, but information is unavailable regarding them. I researched train #231-501 to satisfy my curiosity and found some fascinating details. However, there are two versions of the story, and it remains to be determined which one is accurate. However, there is no doubt that she is an impressive feat of engineering and deserves recognition.
**Steam Locomotive #231-501**
The Fives-Lille company, situated near Lille, France, received an order for 20 units to construct this particular type of machine. Regrettably, due to the German army's factory occupation during World War I, only six devices were finished in 1914. Among all the manufactured locomotives, only #231-501 was handed over to the State Railroad Administration of France.
As you continue reading, things may become a bit perplexing...
Locomotive #231-501 was constructed by SACM-Graffenstaden for CFI between 1939 and 1940. However, it's important to note that although it bears the same number as the initial CFI 231-501, it's a distinct locomotive that was renamed for the Cambodian network in 1952. Locomotive #231-501 used to travel up and down Vietnam on the CFI lines in Cochinchine and Annam. It was transferred to Cambodia twice, first in 1935-1936 and then again in 1952.
**Steam Locomative #131- 106**
The "Prairie" #131-106 locomotive from Franco-Belge was relocated from Saigon to its current spot in 1935-1936. It was built in France back in 1912 and was utilized in Vietnam for a considerable amount of time.
There are no records available for either of the trains. Unfortunately, a significant number of records were destroyed during the Pol Pot era. However, I hope that the brief overview provided some insight into the history of the trains. If you have some spare time, be sure to visit both trains. 🚂
The information I provided has shed some light on this amazing machine. Regrettably, the train station staff was not knowledgeable enough to offer additional help 🚂
Steven Willers — Google review

First trip on the train from PP to SHV. Get to the station early and grab a seat two seats back from the aircon, people sit where ever they want your seat wont be reserved for you. Put your bags on the seats and wait outside untill the aircon starts (when the train leaves) It was a slow trip 40kph sometimes completely stationary. Pack food and water, there is a stop on the way and my missus bought 2 steamed corn on the cob, 2 fresh guavas with the sweet and spicy salt, two eggs and a cold coke for $2.50 pretty good for in the middle of no where

A nice railway station. It's very close to the central market, for about ten minutes walking. There are trains running to Sihanoulvillel and Battambang everyday.
Vincent Li — Google review
This is our 2nd time taking the train to Battambang. It is great to experience with a nice scenery. I hope there will be AC option as the fans are not working. You will be very unlucky if your window lock wont open. It would be a free sauna on the train ride. Seeing all the "barang" like a smoked salmon because of humidity and windows that are sealed.😃The same experience with our first ride, the train was full other passengers are seated on the blue plastic chairs.
Our 1st experience, due to heavy rain it was not possible to travel in some provinces. From PP to Pursat the Railway Co. arranged a bus ride. From Pursat to Battambang we took the train.
The 2nd experience, we would recommend that you arrive early at the 🚆 station, because you still have to locate your seats. And the seat numbers are so tiny.We stopped at PURSAT Station for nearly 3 hours for the staff break. Imagine that..??!!😕
We arrived 12: 30 around 1PM. I asked the staff what time are we leaving to BTB. They said 2PM and when its already 2PM, they said that we are leaving at 3PM because there was a problem with the engine. For few hours waiting we didn't see anyone fixing the engine or offering us a bus ride to head on BTB. We just noticed 2 train staff (perhaps the engine drivers) drinking and enjoying lunch break a little bit more. We left Pursat Station 15:45. Only to figure out the reason for our long wait, was another train is coming through on the opposite side and there is only one train track. It would be better if they explained it to us why we waited so long.😌
The price is reasonable, I think also the train toilets needs a little bit of attention, I pity those passengers who are seated near the toilet.😑
On a positive note, first, the train was very on time leaving from Phnom Penh Station. To our surprise as we condition ourselves everything is late..🙂👍
Second, train staff collecting the rubbish to keep the train tidy, all throughout the journey.
Third, the ground staff are friendly 👍. Some my not speak a lot of English, but they made sure, they will assist you.
Overall, I hope that many locals will support Royal Railway of Cambodia and hoping to see more improvement.
Perhaps, our 2nd train experience is not so lucky as everyone in the coach wanted to arrived on time before the rain and before sunset😕.

At first, I was hesitant to book a return ticket for my trip, especially considering the evening schedule would be a bit quiet and unsafe. To my surprise, both morning and evening schedules were fully packed (with few passengers even had to sit on extra chairs). It was great seeing more and more people supporting the train services (Hopefully, these growing demands will help push our train system to improve and expand further). Since there is no seating number, you have to hop in earlier to grab the spot of your choice. Although it was quite a bumpy ride, the journey was shorter than I expected, took us about 4-4:30h to arrive at the destination (Kampot/PP) safely. For more information on travel booking and schedules, you may check out their Facebook page “Royal Railway Cambodia”.

Under no circumstances should you take the train in Cambodia. We are currently standing in the middle of nowhere and the train doesn't move anymore. We departed with a 90 minute delay and are currently 3 hours late. A tuktuk would have been faster.

Not recommend if you prefer stick schedule. The train comes late for 2hrs. I've been waiting at the station and checked with staff there and he said this time, that time with out exact time, untill it's 6pm while the departure is supposed to be 4:00pm.
My family expected to see the view but it's already dark.

Phnom Penh Railway Station was built beggining of 20th century. Recently refurbished currently caters connections to Kampot and Sihanoukville as well as daily Airport Link. Bright and clean but the building itself requires further improvements.

Even you don't plan to take a train stop here for a short while while you're in Phnom Penh to admire the lovely art deco station built in 1932. It's also a good place to get the most up to date information about schedules when do plan your trip.

Architecture lovers should make it a point to visit this beautifully restored building. The train service may be sparse but I found that the station was a destination in itself. Wonderful calm atmosphere. Try spotting the little period details such as the wall clock near the platform.

Wat Phnom Daun Penh is a significant Buddhist temple situated on the only hill in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It holds historical importance as the birthplace of the city and serves as a revered sanctuary for locals. The temple offers stunning panoramic views of the cityscape and is surrounded by beautiful gardens. It is a popular destination for both spiritual pilgrimages and tourist visits, attracting people who seek blessings for good fortune and success.
Beautiful temple in the north east of the city, near Tonlé Sap. A great walking tour stop that must be included in your circuit. Make sure you go all the way to the top to see a temple with many different Buddhas. Recommend.
Alpha Star67 — Google review
Impressive architecture and a nice Buddhist temple on the top. A old historic place that is easily reachable with a entrance fee of 1 dollar. Definitely recommend
Christoph Bethe — Google review
Beautiful temple. 1 dollar to enter. A fair few species of wildlife including monkeys and a cool bird. Not sure on the type of bird. Temple was peaceful and not too busy. Surrounded by a park you can take a little stroll through. Not the most spectacular temple I’ve ever seen but was spiritual for sure.

Nice hilltop wat in the middle of the city. Ancient, dating back to the 13th century, but well maintained and with beautiful murals. A must visit. Foreigners are $1 entry, of course.

We went on a weekend morning (very hot and humid). $1US pp or 16,000 Riel. No shoes and no hats/caps to be worn inside. Lovely gardens and beautiful music inside the temple.

A popular tourist stop when in Phnom Penh. $1 entry for tourists with an easy drop-off/pickup area for tuktuk. It is a Buddhist temple on the only small hill in the city. The shrine contains a large bronze seated Buddha surrounded by statues and carvings. The walls and ceiling are decorated with murals of Buddha's earlier reincarnations before his attainment of Enlightenment. It can be a peaceful and calming retreat in a somewhat busy and noisy city. You probably won't need more than 1 hour to see it all, but hey, you paid a dollar, so there is no need to rush.

Interesting structure at the centre of the park, can get a good view of it from far away or up close. There are a few steps to climb to get close to it, but these are no problem. If you’re in the area take a look as it’s interesting, plus a nice place to sit in the shade of the trees for a rest, if you need
Tom Hunt — Google review
For a nature lover like me, this place is a hundred percent heaven😇. I can stay all day long in there sitting around the corner under all of the big trees. You can also have a mini picnic there with your family, friends or lover. I believe that place is quite sacred because I saw a lot of people coming in there to pray. Moreover, local people(Cambodian) can go there for free but not for foreigners. Foreigners need to pay 1 dollar.
Visi Joaquin — Google review
Historical city site and prayer ground for Buddhists. Inside of the Temple is very ornate and interesting, and the surrounding park is nice to walk around. I knew a little bit of the history beforehand but think the park would benefit from some plagues of some sort (maybe do this as part of an extended tour around the city if you want the full scoop).
There's a Cafe and an Arts and Crafts Center which was unfortunately closed when I visited (Sunday). For just $1, it's worth it, although I don't imagine this taking up more than an hour of your time.

In the vibrant heart of Cambodia's capital, Phnom Penh, stands Wat Phnom, more than just an ancient monument. This 27-meter high symbol pulsates with the city's life, echoing resilience, faith, and the indomitable spirit of the locals. Each crack whispers tales from the past, a city born from dust and dreams. The name Wat Phnom, a hymn of hope, resonates with reverence for tradition and faith. It's a guiding beacon amidst life's trials, mirroring the light of perseverance. Feel the Nation’s heartbeat.

+ One of the oldest historical sites in the city dating to the 1300s

I recently visited Wat Phnom in Cambodia and it was truly a breathtaking experience. The temple is stunningly beautiful and the intricate details of the architecture are mesmerizing. The peaceful atmosphere and serene surroundings make it a perfect place for meditation and reflection.
The grounds are well-maintained and the volunteers are friendly and helpful. I also enjoyed learning about the history and significance of Wat Phnom from the informative signs and displays throughout the temple.

Central Mall is a three-floor department store located in the heart of Phnom Penh, offering premium travel and outdoor products. It features luxury international brands like LOJEL and EAGLE CREEK, making it a great destination for authentic and certified items not commonly found in the area. The mall offers a good variety of luggage and backpacks, although prices may be more aligned with western standards.

The Cambodia Post Office in Phnom Penh is a striking example of the city's colonial history, featuring an Art Deco style building with vibrant yellow accents. It continues to serve its original purpose, serving as a poignant reminder of the 1863 treaty with the French. Visitors can witness its historical significance and architectural beauty. While there may not be much to see inside, it remains an impressive landmark worth visiting for its exterior and historical value.

Employees of Customs and Cambodia Post are an organized criminal gang, stealing peoples' goods and money.
First they take your parcel. Then they send you an email to call multiple phone numbers that are either incorrect or nobody answers.
They provide PRIVATE, shady, privacy-restricted Telegram accounts to chat, but you cannot call them.
They send messages and ask you to transfer money into PRIVATE staff bank accounts.
They provide PRIVATE gmail accounrs.
When you call them out, they stop all communication.
They are thieves and scum.
Do NOT give them any money.
Do NOT use Cambodia Post to import anything of value.

Pretty easy process for picking up my parcel. They gave us a phone call. Maybe a text message would be easier so people could translate in their language? Just a suggestion from reading the comments here. If you arrive to the location there are plenty of English speakers, it was not a problem.
Customs tax/duties vary based on items purchased, total cost, and country of origin. I purchased clothing ($130 from Shein) and paid $17. Receipts are available for pick up on the 1st, so we will go back for it.
I recommend this location for any services, they seem to have improved a lot judging from past comments. Thank you 😊

I sent vacuum cleaner from Australia to Cambodia. The item costs $120 and once it arrives there my relative got a message to contact the person to pay tax. Guest what it is $40 tax on $120 AUD. That's ridiculous.!!! Is it really tax purposes or just put in to their own pocket. ....

I needed a package sent from the US so I used a friend's address here in Phnom Penh and had my brother send it via USPS. Many people told me that was a big mistake and I should have used DHL. As it turned out the package arrived at the post office and I was able to pick it up there. The tracker from USPS worked perfectly although it went dark for about a week and then came back up. Took about 2-3 weeks to get to me from California. Once it went from Chicago to Qatar then it was quite quick. The lady at the post office who spoke very good English helped me and made sure I got it. She even took my phone number and promised to call me when it arrived but I was very nearby so I just stopped in there two or three times to check. She also used the tracking number on their system. There were no additional charges to pick up the package here in Phnom Penh.

Customer service seem to be improved a lot compared to the past 3-4years. The reason I give it 3 stars is that Cambodia Post Office seems not to have solution with the Custom Office. Import tax is the customer liability with Custom office I understand, but since there are many people complaint of unacceptable tax (higher than it should be), I would like to suggest Cambodian Post Office to discuss solution with Customs office how to improve overall customer satisfaction with accountability.

Phnom Penh Night Market is a bustling hub of activity, offering a wide array of goods such as fabrics, jewelry, and crafts alongside delectable Khmer street food. Located on the riverfront near downtown Phnom Penh, this market is a popular attraction for both locals and tourists. Open only during weekends, it provides an opportunity to experience the local way of life while enjoying evening entertainment and sampling delicious local cuisine.
One of my favourite visits to a market in the whole of south east Asia and the best in Cambodia the food was fantastic and loads of choice and there was love music performance and the river is right across the road with boat tours and lots to do.

Slightly underwhelming. Items sold here are somewhat the same as Bangkok Chatuchak night market if you went there, just a smaller scale. There is a section for sales of items, and another section dedicated to food where mats are laid out and you can sit for your meals.
Items sold here are kind of repetitive where there are multiple shops selling similar items.
Still, a nice place to visit for some night market vibes.

A well-known tourist place in the center of Cambodia - Phnom Penh Night Market.
This night market is located near the river side. There are many vendors selling clothing, accessories, and souvenirs in almost all styles.
You can even find some "famous" products like the pictures I posted😄
There is a small square in the center of the night market with a stage area, which seems to be used for street performers.
When we visited here on Thursday night, we saw some local performers was singing🎤 The whole atmosphere was very chill~
However, compared to night markets in other countries, there were fewer food vendors here, and the food vendors were all close to the innermost area, actually it’s not easy to be found.
What is very special is that their eating and seating areas are all laid out on the floor, let people to sit directly on the floor.
It's quite a special experience.
Overall, it’s not a bad experience here. But also not very special.

Amazing experience. The first time I saw somewhere a food court was on mats. And you can make your own bbq with the meat/fish/veg you choose. Also probably cheap clothing and shopping options, though I didn't negotiate. The place is perfect, just beside the ferry ride so that you can go for a ferry ride over the river and after that directly go to the night market for shopping/food. There's a stage in the middle where local songs are being sung by artists. A festive environment all over the place.
Khobaib Chowdhury — Google review
Small, crowded, filled with clothing vendors and there was no table and chair in the food zone. No souvenir shop, this market is more local than for tourists.
There was a stage for music performance
The price was reasonable

Full of high end brands replica such as clothing, purses, shoes, watches etc. It was smaller than I was expected and half of market was local food stalls that kind of foods were pre-cooked serve cold.. Not my typo

Was much better before Covid. Now it’s a tad too slow, hope it picks up for the locals though. You can find garments, bags, watches and others here. There’s also cooked street food towards the rear.
Paul G Tan — Google review
The food area is the only interesting part because you can sit on the floor, not sure whether the meals are good or not I did not try anything here. As for the rest, it is just random stuff and counterfeit. I was expecting more as it is supposed to be a very popular market.
Marco Andrade — Google review
Fun night market with live entertainment and many food vendors, most of which seemed to be selling the same thing. Close to the river. Lively scene.
Laurel Henderson — Google review
Pretty small, all food venders sell exactly the same food with same menu, no meal more than $20000KHR or $5 us dollars. They take both. No beer, but the hotel across street, on the side street, has cans for 1 dollar.
Most clothes items sell for 10000KHR, or not much more.
Across main street/highway is the river, where you can take day and night cruises for 20,000KHR or $5 US dollars.
Worth a stop, to have a bite and a stroll.
Jay Jay — Google review
Very local! 1/4 of the place is for foods and the rest is for clothes, accessories and others. All of the stalls almost serve the same dishes and you have an option to eat on the carpet or table.. they have Thai, Vietnamese and Cambodian cuisines.. a bit pricey for some food selection like the fishballs on stick or the sausages.. there is also a Kebab/Shawarma place 15ft away from the stage, you might want to try that because it was realllyyy good! 👍🏽
Rosanne Chua — Google review
We bought a lot of cute tops for 5 dollars and 10,000 riel but it's very rare to find cool ones as most of the items are common.
Monalissa Mondigo — Google review
Clean and rather spacious night market. There isn't much stall (as compared to Russian Market and Central Market), but it has live performance and a comfortable sitting environment away from the heat.
Alwin Goh — Google review
There were many food stalls with pieces of food so you could take them on a basket individually (like in the supermarket) and then they were cooked for you. They also offer noodles and other hot dishes.
There is a carpet area in the middle so people can sit on the floor or some stalls have chairs and tables.
We also had sugar cane drink, beer and coconut ice cream and both were good.
Cheap prices but not a lot of variety.
Maria Marco — Google review
Came here for food. You get tiny portions of meat and the price is not worth it. Better to go to a restaurant where you will get better portions. Or get meat only dishes (I had lort cha chicken). Didn't eat it because I was so disappointed and left to eat somewhere else. Do not recommend eating here as the cost isn't anything more affordable compared to nearby restaurants where you can get a decent portion for just a little bit more cost. If you don't mind small portions of meat then maybe this place is for you.

One of the worst markets in Asia. Having been to many markets across Asia, the selection of items is some of the worst. Also some really pathetic knockoffs. So not impressed.
The food was about 25 stalls, but only 3-4 types of variety, pretty much everything the same.
They get a star here for the live entertainment. The guy singing was genuinely good!

Orussey Market, located in Phnom Penh, is the city's largest traditional market spanning three floors. While not a popular spot for tourists or expats, it is a bustling hub where locals shop for everyday items. The ground floor offers household goods and food, while the upper levels feature tailors, jewelry, fabric, and clothing. Open daily from 8 AM to 5 PM, this market is known for its crowded and lively atmosphere.
A nice place in town with fresh beer or craft beer, food good, outdoor seating so beautiful. Recommend for private events party.

Orussey Market ... An authentic market frequented by locals ...it encompasses 3 floors ...you can find poultry, vegetables, house wares, textiles, jewellery, stationery. It was an eye-opener. Our tuk-tuk driver was kind to remind us of pickpocketing...so do be careful of your belongings. This is another market in Phnom Penh that tourists or expats ought to go alongside with Russian and Central markets.

Old Market from the early days. Its very big and easy to get lost. Sanitary is mot that good. Sells affordable things but quality is questionable. Market sellers are very warm and friendly.
Busaikuna Ishimoto — Google review
One of the many local markets, other than Central Market, Russian Market and Old Market. Basically all of them sells about the same varieties except for Central Market(also sells jewellery, watches, jade). Mentally be prepared to get sweaty(bring a minifan helps) and smelly. Plenty of foods along the side walk-way.

A proper SE Asian market. Several stories packed to the brim. You can certainly find anything you want here, but it may take you a lifetime. We found some much needed reading glasses for $10. Probably could have gotten down to 7 but I really needed them & they were hard to find!

Very local market , nothing out of the ordinary. Local products, wet markets that locals visit with basic household items for sale. Hot and if visiting for 1st time in the city, good to have an experience.

You can get everything at Ou' Reusey market. But be sure that when you go with a car there are parking lot for yourself, otherwise you can't go into the market to buy what you need.
Sophak Bou — Google review
I loved this market! It’s 3 floors, jam packed with anything and everything. Definitely not for some. The isles between stalls is crammed and the lack of air movement is hectic especially when it’s 39 degrees outside!
The food / meat section is definitely not from the squeamish so avoid the back section.
Some not so cheap knockoffs. The LV bag shown in the pictures was being sold for $38.

I love this market, reminds me of the dirty wholesale markets in mainland China I use to go to. I know this won’t be for everyone, totally recommend to take a Tuk tuk 🛺 here as parking is impossible and when you do get a parking space good luck getting out 😂. Anyways if you want to bargain hunt for your starting business or want to negotiate for personal use then this is the place for you.

Great Khmer Wholesale Market. Make sure you have your bargaining hats on.
The sellers are quite ruthless from recent experience. Have found 2 out of the 20 sellers I spoke to be friendly and genuine.
Cheapest out of all the markets.
Also, bring a fan, it gets hot in there..stuff, and crowded.

Wide rang of products including hardware stores, plants-flower shops, beauty supplies, food supplies, clothing and home supplies. You literary can find everything in this market. They do wholesales price as well but you need to buy in bulk to get discounts. You need at least 2 hours to go around as this market is huge plus it’s very complicated of all the entries. You easily get lost in this market so you make sure you go with local friends for the frist time. Don’t forget to bargain for the cheapest price. They normally mark up very high prices.

The boulevard really comes to life in the evening, when the sunset is happening!
There are a lot of boats here that offer sunset trips over the river. Recommend doing such a trip. Most boats also offer tickets with drinks included, which could be a good start of an evening out (:

It's a great place for people watching and interesting conversation while drinking a cheap beer or a cup of coffee. The beer is practically free. However, I'll only eat there if I'm really hungry and it's raining too much to walk elsewhere. Every restaurant within a block has better quality food at better prices, but the mall, especially the place across the street from Heart of Darkness, has the cheapest beer. Hold onto anything you don't want stolen, of course.

Such a gem in Cambodia for filmmakers and cinephiles! As a visitor, you can register and then watch their archive on a computer for free — huge selection of Cambodian film from many eras. I watched a doc about Bophana the Cambodian woman who is the namesake, several shorts from the early 70’s, as well as some contemporary shorts (which were fantastic) by young filmmakers who have been trained by the center. Incredible selection, I could have kept digging. Having worked at an archive, I was so impressed that they had so much digitized as that takes so much time and work. There is also a collection of books you can read there on various topics, including film. I spent four hours there, wish I was staying longer so it could be a place I could visit regularly! The staff was very open and receptive to questions. Downstairs was a photography exhibit of gorgeous photos from the early 80s right after the fall of the Khmer Rouge. Thank you for such an enriching and interesting visit, Bophana team!

Saravoan Techo Pagoda, located in the Wat Saravan district of Phnom Penh, is a grand and intricately adorned pagoda that draws Buddhist pilgrims and locals. The temple houses an array of sculptures, statues, relics, as well as wall and ceiling paintings depicting Lord Buddha. Despite being over a century old, this site is often overlooked by tourists visiting Phnom Penh. The temple grounds also feature an ancient Prasat (tower).

A beautiful temple and pagoda complex not far from the Riverside area. It is a good place to get photos of temple scenes with skyscrapers looming in the background. It is much quieter than nearby Wat Ounalom or Wat Phnom but in many ways just as beautiful. For those of the Buddhist persuasion, it might well be a much more meditative location.
Pro Tip: When I attended there were music and dance performances going on in conjunction with a festival. If you are in PP at festival times, this might be a good place to enjoy festivities without the large crowds.

The National Museum of Cambodia, housed in a 1920s building inspired by temple architecture, showcases traditional Khmer art and religious artifacts. Located in Phnom Penh, the capital city at the confluence of three rivers, it offers historical and archaeological exhibits that provide insight into contemporary Cambodia. The museum is a must-visit for culture enthusiasts seeking to explore the rich heritage of this vibrant country.
Good museum in Phnom Penh with quite a body of artifacts. The museum is spacious though open air, making it sweltering in the summer months.
The museum collects similar items together, such as statues of Ganesh, Buddha, Shiva and others into their own categories, rather than arranging them according to archeological era. As such, the narrative of the history is missing, though it is still a fascinating visit.
There is also a nice cafe attached.
Larkin Crain — Google review
While it's a small collection, it's worth your time (and price of admission and a guide) to spend a morning or afternoon here. The art on display is impressive and the guide gave a good explanation of why it mattered as well as an introduction to Khmer history and culture. The courtyard and the cafe are also good places to stop for a while. And you should check out the museum restaurant for lunch outside the building
Mac Prichard — Google review
Interesting couple of hours here. For those reviews complaining about Buddhist artifacts, what on earth were you expecting? Scientology?
Anything still around from the 6th or 7th century is fascinating. Also many items from 1800 too and still interesting. $10 is too much for you? Put your backpack on and go to a cheaper country. Good luck.
Darrell Thody — Google review
A very insightful place to learn the history of Cambodia's past with the artifacts and showcases displayed. It is fairly spacious with several well segregated sections. You can easily spend 2 hours admiring the displays. There are English descriptions of each item which is a plus to me. We visited the museum very early in the day and completed about 10 am, by the time, the place started to be packed with tourists. There is also a cafe where you can get cold drinks or a hot coffee to start the day before entering the museum. A highly recommended place to visit when in Cambodia.

I was absolutely mesmerized by the sculptures in the museum. There are enormous sculptures and different rooms filled with arts which reflect the different centuries. Visitors can put on headphones and listen about this distant time.
Another reason why I recommend going to the museum is because they have very beautiful garden with fish ponds where you an actually feed the fishes. There also have big parking lots and a cafe for refreshments.

It’s not bad, if you have time to spend. But the quality of the museum is disproportionately low as compared to the ticket price they are charging foreigners. No audio guide. To be honest, I expected more.
Oxana C — Google review
The museum was smaller than I expected for that ticket price ($10). When I went there, there was no audio guide so I couldn't really understand the history as there wasn't much explanation.
If you're interested in the architecture then I think you might want to visit this place because the design is pretty unique but currently some parts of it is under construction
Nina — Google review
Not exactly what you would expect of a national museum. No Information on modern history or very old stuff like stoneage or even colonial time.
Mostly stone statues of different ages.
Maybe with an (audio) guide it would have been much better. Just on your own with the signs provided it's definitely not worth 10$ per person.
Maximilian Wagner — Google review
There's minimal information on the exhibits themselves. The ticket counter makes no mention of an audio guide option, while most exhibits supposedly have an audio component, which could enhance your museum experience. Some exhibits are from Siem Reap and a lot from Hindu mythology.
The location is off. The museum is next to the Royal Palace, not on a crossroad.

My family of six thoroughly enjoyed our trip to the museum. It was $10usd for a guide, which I recommend. We went here before our trip to Angkor Wat, which I think helped piece together the history better later. We spent over an hour at the museum. This is the most disappointing museum visit I've had. I asked about the audio tour but a surly lady said no and waved me away. The exhibits are wonderful but without an explanation or some context, there's little value in seeing them.
Brief captions such as "statue left foot" are not sufficient for a national museum and it was interesting that the most detailed section was about the Guinness record for the world's longest scarf. Just bizarre. Feels like a tourist money grab. If you actually want to learn about Cambodia, seek elsewhere.

We were disappointed by this one. After the emotional intensity of the killing fields and S21, we were looking forward to something less taxing.
Entry was $10pp and sadly there were no audio guides on offer.
The museum has many interesting sculptures with some narratives on the more relevant items. I found the lighting poor making the reading difficult which meant I soon gave up trying to read anything.
It appeared as if there were audio guides at some time but definitely not available when we enquired.

The National Museum of Cambodia, located in Phnom Penh, is renowned for its impressive collection of Khmer art, sculptures, and archaeological treasures. Really appreciate its serene atmosphere and well-curated exhibits that offer insight into Cambodia’s rich cultural heritage, especially the exquisite sculptures from Angkor era. The museum provides a comprehensive glimpse into the country’s history, making it a must-visit for those interested in Cambodian art and culture.

An amazing collection of artifacts from the Khmer empires. Many fine examples of Khmer art dating back to the 6th century, it is a must see for those who enjoy this beautiful artwork. Building is amazing in itself, built in the mid to late 30's, it surrounds an inner courtyard with pools as well as artifacts. There is a nice aircon Cafe outside the main building you can get refreshment from either before or after your visit. Spent 2 hrs in the museum and probably missed a fair bit as there is so much to see. Highly recommend!

The Royal Palace in Phnom Penh, Cambodia is a stunning complex that showcases the rich Khmer architecture and serves as the residence of Cambodian kings. Situated at the confluence of the Mekong, Bassac, and Tonle Sap rivers, it offers a glimpse into contemporary Cambodia. The palace grounds feature a unique blend of Khmer and French architectural styles, with decadent gold artifacts and intricate designs throughout.
Very clean, beautiful, and friendly staff. It is really amazing to see the history of the royal family.

Okay so you need to come here for sunset! It’s like Venice beach or something. People out playing everywhere and super lovely views. Also lots of places to drink a beer. Walk near the water and find a boat. You can drive for one hour for 5$ and drink beer. Awesome
Will Langston — Google review
This place is worth wearing a mask (yes still to protect the King) in 40 degree heat! It's stunning and you can get lost walking through it.
Be respectful of the rules because this is their King home and he is very loved and important to them. But just loose yourself in the shocking beauty of it all.
Cristina Nannarone Tran — Google review
Quite a lot of construction work going on around the whole palace.
Very quiet when I visited, although the works on some of the buildings spoilt the tranquility.

Interesting place to visit if you're in PP. Unfortunately a lot of the site was under construction while we were visiting (July 2023) so some of the areas were off limits. We didn't have a guide and there isn't much signage around so you'll definitely want a guide if you're interested in the history of the site. The buildings are spectacular and the gardens are immaculately kept so all in all a nice place to visit for an hour or two and get some photos.
Just be aware of the tour guides and tuktuk drivers around the building. We were approached by a few who told us we wouldn't be allowed into the palace with how we were dressed and that we couldn't buy or rent clothing there. This is a lie, you can buy trousers and a t-shirt at the palace for $3 each, the guides just want to persuade you not to go to the palace and take their tours instead.

The palace was constructed 1866-1870 and it has been a popular tourist attraction in phnom penh

Ticket price was a little high at $10 per person but it was a nice place to visit for the day. I would suggest adding this to your Phnom Penh itinerary. The silver pagoda area is the highlight in my opinion.
Masks are required to enter and you should also dress modestly with shorts below the knee and no shoulders showing. The palace closes in the middle of the day It’s open 08:00-11:00 and 14:00-1700 daily.
Courtney Crawford — Google review
The palace is on the smaller side but the king actually lives there! Do get a fire because otherwise you’ll miss out on most of the fun! Our guide spoke both English and chinese and was very helpful in taking group pictures and very fun.
Ticket is 10 dollars each and guide is another 10.
They give you a small bottle of water when you exit.
Make sure your pants or skirts are below your knees or you can pay 3 dollars to get a pair of local pants to wear.
The entrance is at the front facade of the palace facing the river, but to the side. The front gate is closed unless there is an event or the king needs to go in and out.
Google map says they open at 9am but when I visited they open at 8.
Aria Jiang — Google review
Beautiful place, but be aware some areas are not open for public. Entrance is 10 dollars/person and only cash. Few locals try to sell you face masks at the entrance saying that a mask is a must. Dismiss that, a face mask is not compulsory any longer to get into the complex. Dress properly though (covered shoulders and knees as usual)

Amazing and I took a tour guide which was certainly worth it. Can get up close to most places and exhibitions including the emerald Buddha but not allowed into the throne room. The amount of gem stones; pure gold and silver on display was truly awesome and the history including stuff going back to Napoleon time was next level. Highly recommended.

It was quite nice to visit. Relatively small on size but wort visiting at least one time. They have collections of Cambodian antiques and you can also see a traditional Cambodian old houses in pictures. The garden was also very beautiful.

This magnificent palace is placed at the heart of the city and by the river side walk. It has big open grassed field in front of it where local people have their family time in the afternoon. Food, toy and souvenir hawkers are there to meet your different needs. Amazon cafe is just around the corner as well.
I am not much fond of history so i did not get inside but surely you can, just remember you need to cover your body properly and also the timing (open & close hours).
Lovely place. Grab a coffee, relax on the grass and see local life…

I gave 4🌟only because some of the buildings now are under construction. So it's hard to take some photos and you cannot visit all the buildings...but the ticket price it's the same as usual. Nice complex. Remember to wear cloths that cover your knee and shoulders.

Beautiful buildings through the palace grounds, we were able to look into see the throne hall. entry to a couple of the temples was allowed. We were there for about an hour, this was enough time to have a good look around.
Jason D — Google review
I read the reviews and decided that yes $10 entry was too much for Phnom Penh for a palace that was mostly closed. So I went and had a look around the outside, whilst the main palace building looks lovely, especially at night, there really isn’t that much to see there. Not worth $10 when most is closed
LisaT — Google review
Worth to visit, entrance ticket is 10$. Beautiful inside and as I saw, they have good guides inside, who speaks very well English. Be aware if you go in the afternoon, they have a "lunch time" and they open palace for visitors only at 14 o'clock
Denis Levochkin — Google review
Entrance fee included the Silver Pagoda. Be prepared to spend around an hour or so to visit the both. Dress sensibly with shirt covering the shoulders. There was a noon break when visits were not allowed. The Palace reopened at 2pm.
The Throne Hall is the main building of the Royal Palace built in 1863 and it’s still used for religious and royal ceremonies. Unfortunately, photos are not allowed.
Around the Palace ground, there are quite a few stunning architectures displaying the typical Cambodian rooftops and design.
Lady A — Google review
It's beautiful. I can understand that for people who have affection for the Royal family of Cambodia this is an important place to visit but to me it is more like a tourist trap. There are other very beautiful and much more quiet temples throughout the city you can visit for free or a small fee. $10 seems very pricey for an entrance ticket. Also covering your shoulders is insufficient, you need to wear a shirt or similar, otherwise your obliged to buy a T-shirt provided at the entrance. Elbows and knees don't need to be covered but dress appropriately.
At the time we went we could see The Throne room, dancing hall and Silver Pagoda. Sadly enough we missed the dancing hall because they decided to close down 30minutes before actual closing time.
You're not allowed to enter the Throne room, it's beautiful but not particularly decorated in Khmer cultural style, it resembles more a European 18th century throne room.
No pictures from the inside because not allowed.
I would recommend to see the palace from outside the grounds and not bother with entering it.
Sam Bouckaert — Google review
It's a $10USD entry fee to get in and we only had 45 mins as the Palace closes at 11am for lunch, despite many blogs and Google Maps advising that it closes at midday. The Palace does not have an official website and 50% of the buildings were undergoing some sort of renovation and were covered in netting and scaffolding. The jack hammers at 10am on a Sunday morning kind of killed the vibe for me.

How anyone can say there’s almost nothing to see here… is beyond me?? This is a priceless collection of gorgeous architecture, several small museums, the amazing Silver Pagoda and so much more. I was here almost two hours! I highly recommend seeing this historic and cultural highlight in PP. Fantastic!
Also, I’m posting a photo below of the hours. I found it often difficult to get accurate open hours in Vietnam and am already experiencing that again in Cambodia. Google maps “claims” to have double checked the hours three weeks ago by phone, but has something different than at the Palace. Go early as it gets very hot quickly, and you’ll beat some of the tour groups.

It is a beautiful place to visit, truly beautiful and something not to be missed in the city. It is a shame that some of the areas cannot be visited well, because they are closed. The staff and all the people who work here are very kind, respectful and affectionate, they make you feel like just another Cambodian citizen.

Love the very long fresque
You also get to see some ancient collections of pottery, artifacts, clothing etc… the gardens are beautiful too. Worth the $10 entry fee

I had the opportunity to visit the Royal Palace today, and I was truly awestruck by its grandeur and historical significance. The fact that the entrance ticket for foreigners is only $10 is incredibly affordable given the richness of the experience it offers. The Palace's visiting hours from 8 to 11 and 14:00 to 17:00 are well-suited for exploring, but I imagine it would be even more enchanting in the evening, with the palace illuminated. I highly recommend a visit to the Royal Palace, and if you have the chance, consider coming in the evening for a truly magical experience.
The Silver Pagoda is a stunning temple situated adjacent to the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. It boasts over 5000 exquisitely adorned silver tiles that cover the floor of its central complex. The temple is renowned for its cultural significance, grandeur, and graceful architecture, making it a must-see attraction in Siem Reap. The Royal Palace complex also houses manicured gardens and ornate temples, libraries, and galleries that are open to the public for exploration.
I love it here!
It's worth the $10 entry fee.
You must not miss the Buddha made with 2000 diamonds! It's inside the building No.17 (you can get the map at the entrance)
Make sure to cover the shoulder and knees, otherwise you have to buy t shirts for $3.

Silver Pagoda is situated inside the Royal Palace ground and houses emerald Buddha statue just like Bangkok Wat Pho. The ticket is along with the Royal Palace. Silver Pagoda ground also have some other small temples and architectures. Nice place to visit but over-priced. It’s way too expensive compared to other things you can see here, $10.
There is no audio guide, you can get a guide for you, no idea of the cost, I always run from not tabled prices.
Was able to get some info from other guides.
Like in the past there was a big elephant so that the king could walk around, but now they are Buddhist so no more elephant.
You need to be careful with the cloths you bring, sometimes they harass you more then others, yesterday they didn’t let me enter with a top tank and a scarf, said no scarfs allowed, had to have a T-shirt.
Today I say women inside with their shoulders totally out.
They sell T-shirt here.
You can only enter in like 4 buildings, you cannot take pictures in two buildings ( the silver pagoda and the throne room.

Incredible temple and amazing history. Recommended to get a guide and this is part of the Emerald Buddha and Royal Palace tour.

The ticket costs 10usd and is valid for the royal palace as well as for the Silver Pagoda Temple. Since you can only get into the central building of the temple complex where you can find the emerald Buddha, the visit doesn't take too long. I really missed the chance to get inside more buildings.
There is also a small copy of Angkor Wat. Really interesting.
I personally liked the paint around the whole wall.
I don't like the fact that the palace and the temple close at 11am until 2pm. But it is good that the ticket offers you the chance to visit both places.

Nice place to visit in phnom Penh but half of the palace is close. if you want to see the silver floor, look at the entrance on the side of the carpet. Silver pagoda is the splendid one among the important buildings of Royal Palace complex. It's called pagoda yet it's such treasure house of Royal Palace cuz of thousands of precious objects included Buddha and kings statues. On the outside wall, the Ramayana depict was painted and the story starts from the south part of east gallery following clockwise.

It's worth going lunch early in the morning is best. Avoid the heat and the crowds.

The spiritual building next to the Silver Pagoda, totally grey is very finely decorated and could be mistaken for it but the actual Silver Pagoda seems mostly an important spiritual place rather than that it is beautiful or particular to look at. There is also no 'silver' to be found. Once there were some metal tiles on the floor that gave it a 'silver' shine on the inside, hence the name. No pictures from the inside because not allowed.
I would suggest to not bother visiting it.

Wat Botum Park is home to the ancient Khmer Buddhist pagoda, Wat Botum, also known as the Temple of Lotus Blossoms. Built in the 15th century by King Ponhea Yat, this colorful temple showcases photogenic saffron-colored robes and houses important relics and paintings. The park adjacent to the temple offers a playground for kids and open grassy areas for exercise. Additionally, visitors can explore the Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Monument nearby.
Absolutely beautiful wat. Friendly people, even let me look inside a newly constructed pair of Pagodas that wasn't open to the public yet.
In one of the temples, there is a wax figure or mummy of a monk...I am thoroughly unsure about if it is actually wax or a real human being. Went there 2 times and still wasn't sure. 🤣🙈

Ten stars. Such lovely women working here. Please note, our tuk tuk driver tried to take us to their last location. Make sure you're going to the right place! It is correct on Google maps. Great place to buy gifts for friends back home. We purchased two sets of earrings made out of denim. There are lots of trinkets and jewelry, but most of it is typical and even bland. It’s also a bit uncomfortable if you’re an atheist as there’s a lot of religiously themed items. But look carefully and you’ll find something.

Lovely jewellery, but most other things are of relatively boring western design (often monochrome) and/or have bible verses printed on (not for me, and I doubt it's of interest for the Cambodian Buddhist majority). Some of this is made up for by the good cause, but people will not struggle to find good-cause shopping in Phnom Penh with more inspired fabric designs (and products based on those fabrics) and without the proselytizing.

Spa, massage & pedicure services etc are provided as well (to take note it’s only for female customers!) A bummer would be that their awesome cafe closed due to Covid-19 although they shared that they have plans to reopen it in ~2023!
