The Shirakawa Komine Castle Ruins, dating back to the 14th century, features a restored tower and gate along with remnants of walls and a moat. Visitors can explore three levels of the castle which were designed for warfare purposes. Although renovated inside and out, there are still traces of historical significance such as bullet holes. The unique wave-like shape of the castle wall sets it apart from traditional Japanese castles.
A great and relaxing place. Newly renovated with very well maintained garden. A nice view of the city and the mountains too. Best of all, it's free! Very accessible from Shirakawa Station. Google map doesn't show it but there is a tunnel connecting the station to the site just beside the tourist building.

One of the top 100 Japan castles. There are two castle stamps. One in the tea shop and one inside the castle. It’s free to visit inside.

The castle is free and worth a visit. It's a good reconstruction that unlike those castles rebuilt 40-50 years ago tries to look more authentic.

Visited as of November 2017. The castle is in renovation due to East-Japan Earthquake, so there are some minor inconveniences, like part of the attraction is inaccessible. But this place is beautiful, with a great view on a nice day :)

Nice tiny castle in Nasu. You can go inside the castle for 3 levels walk for seeing the old historic building structures which specially for war! Of course it already renovated both inside and outside, but you can still see some of the historical remains like bullets holes. It is free entry and the castle wall is in specially put in waves and curve order which is not the same with traditional Japan castle.

Nasu Kogen Minamigaoka Dairy is a delightful destination to spend quality time with loved ones. The ranch offers numerous activities such as feeding horses and donkeys, petting rabbits, fishing, and even archery for an affordable price. The dairy on the premises serves excellent food and delicious ice cream making it a perfect spot for lunch. During winter months, the farm remains open to visitors who can enjoy snow photography and purchase souvenirs while relishing their famous pudding.
Dec 27, 2021
The farm is open to the public but most restaurants are closed and few animals can been seen from the outside.
You can go there just to take some snow pics and buy souvenir.
Their pudding is very famous and tasty. Recommended that you get one.

The dairy is excellent, and the ice cream is really delicious. You can also have lunch here!

Nasu Garden Outlet can be conveniently accessed through a free shuttle bus from Nasushiobara station, with its schedule available on their website. The place was covered in snow during the visit and every well-known brand was offering great sales. The mall offers a wide variety of products such as clothing, food, vegetables, and even rare items like blueberry honey which make for excellent gifts. Visitors can also dine at restaurants or purchase necessities at convenience stores located throughout the shopping complex.
Went on a rainy weekday, so it was not very crowded. The place is well organised with maps available for visitors. All the shops were open and they were selling all sorts of item.
There are restaurants selling many variety of foods.
Parking is free, and there are many spaces.
Neo Chuan Cheng — Google review
There are a large variety of shops in the complex. Many restaurant facilities including Indian restaurant are also available. We can also buy products from famous companies like adidas and Nike for their own shops. The facilities to walk within the complex is outside so carry an umbrella in case of rain. There are offers during certain times. It is better to visit the place after checking their official website for offer information. There are also discounts for foreigners. The clear water streams at the complex are relaxing. Also there are many super vendors all over the place. It is accessible from the Nasushiobara station through free shuttle bus.
Aadil Anas K — Google review
While this outlet mall is conveniently located near Nasushiobara Station, international travelers might find it somewhat lacking. The selection of luxury brands is very limited, and even popular brands like Nike have a restricted range on offer.
However, the mall is extremely pet-friendly. You can dine with your pets on the terraces of restaurants, and they are allowed inside if you carry them. There’s also plenty of space for dogs to run around freely.
That said, the quality and variety of the products might be a bit disappointing, especially if you’re used to shopping at outlets abroad. Overall, Nasu seems more suited for enjoying the great outdoors and local cuisine rather than for shopping.

It's a bit on the small side, but the exhibits are well-maintained and interesting. The real draw for this place is there Amazon River exhibit. It has a tunnel through the main tank and many vantage points from which to see the amazing fish of the region. Worth a stop!
Part of a culture institute, this hexagonal coastal hut was designed by art scholar Tenshin Okakura.
You can see some historical monuments with the beautiful view of the sea. Entrance fee is ¥400. Free car park is available even though is not not that much big. View of the sea is mind blowing. Historical garden and old house also looks nice. Down the steps there’s a old building called Rokkakudo, english meaning is Hexagon pagoda. Kind of museum is there with some old stuffs used by the owner of this land. Recommend for take pictures and relaxing.

Really beautiful little secluded spot. Very few people even on the weekend and just a really nice place for a stroll and to unwind. Four stars because theres an entrance fee and the views from the neighbouring park are arguably better anyway. This spot does have historic value though.

Unlike the other falls I've visited, on your way there, you'd have to go inside the cave and at the end of it is the magnificent waterfalls which had parts of it frozen during winter!

One of the popular tourist attractions of Ibaraki prefecture. There is an entrance fees of ¥300 (¥50 discount for JAF members) and one can reach the observatory through a tunnel. There is a second observation post on a upper level accessed through a elevator. Return can either be through the tunnel or the old walkway after crossing a suspension bridge. There is a free public car park approx 1 km away or one can park at many of the privately owned car parks that charge ¥300~¥500 a day or for 2 hours in busy seasons. Fukuroda Falls in Ibaraki is a breathtaking natural wonder that leaves visitors in awe of its majestic beauty. As a nature enthusiast, I was eager to explore this renowned waterfall, and it exceeded all expectations.
Located in Daigo, Ibaraki, Fukuroda Falls is renowned for its four-tiered cascade, standing at an impressive height of 120 meters and stretching 73 meters wide. The sheer force of the water as it tumbles down the rugged cliff creates a mesmerizing spectacle, particularly during the lush greenery of spring or the vibrant foliage of autumn.
The viewing platforms strategically placed around the falls offer panoramic vistas, allowing visitors to marvel at the mesmerizing flow from different angles. The sound of rushing water and the refreshing mist that caresses your skin add to the immersive experience.
During my visit, I took a leisurely stroll along the well-maintained walking paths that meander through the surrounding forest. The peaceful ambiance and the harmonious blend of nature's sights and sounds created a serene escape from the bustling city life.
Fukuroda Falls is a year-round destination, each season offering a unique charm. Whether you visit during the blossoming cherry blossoms of spring, the verdant greens of summer, the fiery hues of autumn, or the serene icicles of winter, the falls never fail to captivate and enchant.
In conclusion, Fukuroda Falls in Ibaraki is a natural wonder that should be on every traveler's bucket list. Its awe-inspiring beauty, surrounded by the tranquility of nature, makes it an ideal destination for those seeking a serene escape and a memorable encounter with one of Japan's most beautiful waterfalls.

The Ryujin Big Suspension Bridge is a popular tourist destination in Japan, offering visitors the thrill of bungee jumping from its height of 100 meters above a forested ravine and Ryujin Lake. However, visitors should be cautious as thefts are common even inside parked cars. Unfortunately, there are no security cameras installed yet. While the view is stunning, some may find the cost of crossing the bridge to be too expensive for what it offers.
Stunning view of autumn leaves from the bridge. I would recommend you to walk upto nearby small waterfall. It is around 3.3km away and waterfall itself is very small but the whole road is covered with momiji tress and beautiful view. Check out the photos!

The bridge is a pedestrian-only suspension bridge spanning an artificial lake formed behind a dam. The bridge is designed in the shape of a dragon and is one of the largest pedestrian in Japan. They also have a bungee jumping service along with a free parking.

The views are great, but it’s frustrating if you go after 2 PM. All of the food establishments were closed, even though the entire establishment is open until 5. Also, they offer entry discounts for parents with an Ibaraki Kids Card, but the attendant refused to give the discount because my son was napping in the car with my wife and not physically crossing the bridge with me. There are much better attractions to visit in Ibaraki; this place is only worth a visit if you have time and patience.

Drone overhead footage. Great place to visit but make sure you watch your belongings, even in your car because this is one of the few places in Japan where they will steal them in all of Japan. Items were stolen off my custom bike 4 years ago and on my visit April 11 2021 it seems things have gotten worse. It would be good if they would place security cameras but they still haven’t as of yet. To go across the bridge is not worth the cost and should be lowered because the trip to the other side is nothing to see.
Carlos Sheppard — Google review
It’s quite interesting, a curiosity, they put drain grills every ten meters or so that let you see straight down, a treat if you like hights and a fright if not… there’s possibility to try bungee jumping if that’s your thing…

Utsunomiya Futaarayama Shrine, a renowned Shinto shrine located in the heart of Utsunomiya city, is easily accessible from the train station and boasts an impressive long staircase and torii gate. This storied complex is particularly famous for hosting the Rei-sai thanksgiving festival every October. Visitors can enjoy some local snacks at nearby food stalls and take a pleasant walk to Utsunomiya Castle.
The arch of the Shintoism's shrine is too large structure on the side of road in city. Even events happen here, like Kekkon(marriage) or any special occasion. It has many structures of deities, and red colored Tori gates take through them from outer world to the inner spiritual world. I love this big shrine here, the customs locals do here in a que is not faded here unlike other city places. One must experience this through a visit and following the things that are prescribed earlier.

Urban oasis in the heart of Utsunomiya. Like many shrines in Japanese cities, it's perched on top of a hill and can be reached by climbing a steep stair. There is no lift or escalator of any kind unlike in some downtown shrines elsewhere, so some cautions are needed. One can see down towards the bustling downtown and preserved Utsunomiya Castle some hundred of meters away.

Beautiful shrine right in the middle of the Utsunomiya city. Famous for long staircase and big torii gate. There are some snack shops right after entering from the big torii gate where you can sit and enjoy some foods and drinks. Few minutes to Utsunomiya Castle by walk.

I visited Utsunomiya Futaarayma Shrine in March and it was really nice! I came from Nikko by train and the Shrine was close to the Utsunomiya train station and easy to find. The area was really pretty and I would definetely visit again! It didn’t cost anything. Also if you are visiting Nikko from Tokyo by train and you have to stop in Utsunomiya I would recommend you to see the Shrine!

Utsunomiya Castle Ruins Park is a petite green space, encircling a revitalized mountaintop fortress. It's a well-liked destination for outdoor dining amid cherry blossoms during the spring season. The park offers a tranquil atmosphere with its lush surroundings and historic landmarks to explore. Visitors can enjoy an idyllic picnic or take strolls around the castle ruins and gardens. It's an ideal location for those seeking nature, culture, and history all in one place.
One of the best place to see cherry blossoms, you can enjoy see and around, and you can take some photos There are some photo spot that you can create your own, some people doing camping too, just come and feel it!

It's essentially a remnant of a feudal castle that is repurposed as a park, which is unique. Typically, Japanese cities and towns just simply let their castle ruins (those that didn't survive intact through the post-feudal and World War 2 eras) to rot. Here, instead of fully restoring the castle or raze it, they preserved the moat, enclosure walls, and guard towers as they are. The inner part of the castle, which is now an empty ground, becomes a public space, where the locals do sports and other recreational activities, and occasionally local festivals.
Surprisingly, elevators were installed to access the wall rampart. The guard towers also house some artifacts of the feudal era, but by the time of my visit, it was off limits and not in display for public.

I went there on 5 Nov 2022 while there's a Gyoza Festival. A lot of people inside the castle area and around city. There's a huge parking area with restrooms. You can bring your pets too. Easy access for disability or old people thanks to an available elevator inside castle to reach the second floor ♿🩼🥟🎪👥

Somewhat interesting place in a nice setting. Beautiful during hanami (cherry blossom season) and one of the earliest places to enjoy sakura in Utsunomiya. Besides from the park and the reconstructed keeps/turrets and wall there's a small museum and information place with old maps, models and English speaking volunteer guides.
Make sure to visit and let the guides tell you about the old castle, it's definitely worth the time.
Now and then there are events and festivals held at the big grass lawn, including spring and gyoza festival.

Our family enjoyed walking around Castle Park. A lot of the community was at the park and lots of people were talkative and kind.

Small but nice park, good for walk especially in the spring. There are many Sakura trees to observe.

It isn't a full castle, only the remains, but for a city that doesn't have too many big landmarks, this is a great place to come. It's also a nice park for a family outing, and there are many different events and festivals that go on here or near here.

This theme park is great for children and families as it offers a wide variety of activities such as go-karting, camping, and nature trails. It also has a number of race tracks and amusement parks that are perfect for tourists to enjoy.
Had incredibly fun time
Excellent for family with kids not just racing but also a lot of athletics and mobility theme park ride

It's a bit far from Kanagawa but it's soo much better to come here and watch MotoGP than going to Suzuka to watch F1. Highly recommended it to visit here. You can stay in the car if it's camper or rent some room nearby since there are plenty of options to choose from.

If your kids loves to climb, run, jump and glide, even walking the vast hello woods trails just to collect and complete the stamps. Then yes, this is the place. Dekoboko・Sumika・Dokidoki・Itadaki・Hello Woods・Zipline・ The complete experience. Just Wow! 👏

Great attractions, nature, and of course racing. The one star that it falls short on is food. The huge positive is that you are allowed to bring in your own food and have a picnic of it, so only you are to blame if you aren't happy with the limited selection of food services. The food is not bad, don't get me wrong but there aren't enough options to satisfy a multi-day trip.

Is a great race track. Only problem is accommodation. For a decent hotel, is about 45 minutes drive to the circuit.

Came for the Honda thanks day and ordered online the early bird ticket which is slightly cheaper than buying on the day. It includes entry and all you can play entry to the amusement park included the zip line which is a great deal.
It's a massive space about 2.5 hours away from Central Tokyo... Great if you can see something such as a race but wouldn't travel here just for the amusement park.

I came here for the Honda Collection Hall not realising this is actually a huge complex with not only the racing track, but rides, attractions, food trucks, restaurants and shops. Whilst the entry fee was a bit more than I expected to pay due to requiring a seperate entry fee for each person and vehicle (more so due to being a race day), I ended up watching some racing and having lunch which worked out OK in the end. Surprisingly, this is also a beautiful spot to see Sakura with numerous trees lining the main roadway.

Loads of fun. Can bring kids of almost all ages. And fun for adults as well. Nice hotel on premisses and if you go on a race day on the real track it's fun to watch and hear the roar of engines.
Only knock is camping during the summer where the bugs can get out of hand for folk not used to them.

If you have a passion for cars, a must see - although it is quite far from anything else. Park had an entry fee but for cal overs money well spent. We saw many classic cars, race cars and motorbikes. Robot demo as well. There is also a huge kids amusement park attached - could easily do a half day at each for visitors bringing their kids.

The Honda Collection Hall is a remarkable technology museum featuring an impressive collection of over 300 racing cars and bikes from various generations, accompanied by futuristic displays of up-to-date technology. Even though it is located quite far from Tokyo's city center, the experience is well worth the trip for Honda fans and enthusiasts to see the brand's rich history. The museum has multiple levels and floors to explore, making it suitable for families and students alike.
Been there finally last year. Such a amazing and unbelievable museum, on so many Honda bike from first generation to the latest. Always been a Honda fans since young boy. Finally my dream came true.
Spend a whole morning going through level by level four by floor room by room to see all kind of bikes. Especially the history of Honda. The location is quite far from town. We have to take few trains and taxi to get there from Tokyo. Not easy trips but exciting. It is very very very quiet not much visitor.
Suitable for families and especially students.
The little town was very quiet and less occupancy.
Good for all

If you are an automobile buff, this is a pilgrimage you must visit in your lifetime! It is almost entire history of automobile (And full history of Honda) starting from motored bicycle to evolution of cars, F1, some other motors like lawn mowers, boat motors, they even have small plane; apparently Honda makes engines of planes. (I am sure soon they will put that Honda generator which Tesla users use to charge their cars in emergency) They have a bike which has sofa like seats, ground world record speed holder machine, small planes, motor boats, all types of two wheelers and four wheelers produced in all parts of the world, F1 cars used by Honda. Small display of how F1 tyres looked in each decade from 1920 races and you will be amazed for the transformation they have been to. It is so huge that if you are a real buff, you might spend around half day there admiring the exhibits and the way they are maintained and displayed. The curator told that they all are in working condition and are switched on at least once a year. If you have a pestering spouse, not interested in automobiles, you may still spend around 2 hours there!
Nearby there is Asimo museum as well.
Public transport available.

Always wanted to visit this place. Off the beaten path, but worth the hike. We had a car so it was a bit easier. Tolls are expensive though. Seeing the f1 cars from every generation is worth the price of admission itself ! Make a day of it, because most likely will take up a whole day.

A worthwhile experience for any racing enthusiast, even if it is difficult to get to by public transport from Tokyo.
If you plan to visit Honda, Yamaha, Nissan etc. from Tokyo it is worth renting a car for a few days - otherwise expect to spend a few hours each way to get to the collection hall.
The museum itself is outstanding and packed full of racing and commercial Honda history

A must visit for any Japanese car (and motorbike) enthusiast, the Honda Collection Hall is as impressive as you would expect. Numerous levels featuring a vast selection of Honda models from over the years. What amazed me the most was seeing a pristine 3rd Gen Civic on display which was very nostalgic. The Type R’s of the 90’s were also worth admiring, along with the very cars I used to race in the old Gran Turismo days. A small gift shop has a selection of memorabilia to buy if desired. Note that whilst the hall is free, you do have to pay a person/vehicle fee to enter the Motegi complex beforehand.

All good but disappointed that not all the cars/bikes are placed to favour phorography...also there are some cars or bikes (e.g. Senna's McLaren) that should stay highlighted and alone...she was together with other less successful F1 and also partially covered by the engine in dispay on a stand! A nightmare to take picture of!

A must visit if you're a car/motorcycle enthusiast and a Honda fan! From everyday economobiles like the Honda Accord to high-revving sports legends like the EK9 Type R, as well as some of the most advanced cars on this planet! Be warned though, it's around 100 KM from Tokyo, so I'd highly recommend renting a car! The Honda collection hall is absolutely worth the trek to Motegi though!

It’s a must visit place for Honda fans or even just automotive enthusiasts alike. It houses a good selection of important Honda cars and bikes from various eras of the brand. It’s modern and and accessible with close proximity to Motegi circuit and lots of souvenir shops to stock up on Honda merchandise. Parking was fairly accessible and large but expensive considering it’s out in the sticks of Tochigi. The parking is comparable to Tokyo city parking.

Hitachi Seaside Park, located near Mito City in Ibaraki Prefecture, is a vast park known for its seasonal flower gardens and greenery. It features a variety of flowers from spring to autumn, with highlights including 4.5 million nemophila flowers covering the entire park in late April to early May, as well as narcissus flowers, tulips, and kochia bushes during different seasons.
We went there in the peak of the Nemophila blue flowers. Trust me, the spread of these flowers along the small mountain gives a picturesque view which is second to none. It is better to wear comfortable shoes since there is a vast area to visit. walking is feasible. The park itself is very big, lots of green areas, there's also a small amusement for children as well, a great place to go if you are visiting with your family.

Definitely a must visit place.. we visited this place during the summer season and unfortunately it was terrible weather.. But there were completely lush green bushes everywhere which was a pleasing experience for everyone. We can borrow bicycles for 3hrs and it costs around 400¥.. apart from this there is a water play area, small eatery shops, small golf area, ATV, dirt racing as well. The entry ticket is 450¥/adult.. no tickets for kids below 4yrs.. This place is well maintained and has a lot of activities to enjoy for everyone...

Such a gorgeous park! Even in March on a cloudy/rainy day I really enjoyed my time here. The daffodils were in full bloom, and they were beautiful. Lucky for us, the nemophila bloomed early and we got to see a nicely bloomed hill of them. Absolutely worth the trip!

The overall experience was good. It was really lucky that we rent bicycles at the entrance of the park (600yen/3hr). The park was too big to travel by walking, and there was a convenient network of bicycle track around the park.
I took many photos of the sunflowers and “grass balls”. The regions were well maintained and the plants were well grown. The “grass balls” covered the whole hill and the view is just marvellous.
It definitely worth visiting again in other seasons.
P.S. The combined ticket for the train + entrance ticket was on discount (700yen) remember to grab it at the Katsuta station. You can travel to the fish market to have lunch in Nakaminato Fish Market, and hop on the train again to the final station. From there, you can walk around 20 minutes to the South Gate of the park.

I went to see to see the Kochia plants in the middle of October.
This is a massive park with many activities so it’s a great place to bring children.
The Kochia is grown on a hill and it’s about a 10min walk up to the top of it. It is easy to walk and there is a very nice view from the top, so it’s defiantly worth walking up.
There is a large grass area so also nice to bring a picnic.
If you don’t like walking there is a train (bus) and bicycles to ride.

Really enjoyed this park and got some really beautiful pictures during our time there. The park itself is massive and we spent the better part of a day exploring it. Lots of great good options in the park with relatively reasonable prices. The blue flower fields did appear to have quite a few weeds, although I’m not sure if this was due to our coming late in the season or due to a lack of maintenance. Overall definitely worth seeing if you are in the area while the flowers are in bloom.

In front of the station there is a bus with the final destination to Hitachi Seaside Park. Combined tickets for the bus and entry to the park. For seniors aged 65 years and over, tickets are free. The bus journey takes about half an hour.
The garden is quite wide but still comfortable on the feet. There are also bicycle rentals or a small train ride around the park.
The flowers are very beautiful and colorful, topped off with a beautiful seaside. There are many photo spots with excellent views.
In certain places there are also stalls selling food and drinks.

The nemophilia are finished now for the season, but it's still a great place to visit. My highlight was the aroma garden which was full of herbs, roses and berry trees. Walked around the whole park which took about 2 hrs - didn't go on any of the rides etc. Lots of toilets around the park.
Alix — Google review
Couldn't enjoy the park due to the number of crowds - likely thousands of people - even before 9:30am (park opening time). While the park was spacious and had many flowers. It was clear that nemophila baby blue flowers were their main attraction, so the rest of the park felt quite empty and barren, especially in April. Many parts were also closed off due to gardening work(?). I rented a bike (600¥ for 3 hours) and it was enough to see everything. A big part of the "park" is actually filled with amusement rides. The gift stores were also disappointing compared to other flower parks in Japan, only 10 - 16 types of gifts.
I would still recommend a visit to those who also love flowers and nature in general, they were beautiful. But if seeing the baby blue nemophila is your main priority, you will likely be disappointed and end up waiting for photos etc. It won't be an enjoyable stroll or even peaceful time. And definitely not worth it for tourists on a tight schedule - it did not feel worth the 2+ hour commute from Tokyo (5 hours if round trip). It's okay if you're on a longer trip or a resident.
Debbie Foong — Google review
Having visited in autumn, I was treated to a sea of blossoms, but I've heard the park transforms magically in each season, making it a year-round destination for nature enthusiasts.
Navigating the park was a breeze with clear signage, and the availability of amenities. Families can enjoy various activities, from picnics in the open spaces to the excitement of the playgrounds.
Every corner seemed to be a perfect photo opportunity, and I found myself capturing the vibrant scenes at every turn.

The park area is very big, you can enjoy the sight seeing train ( seaside train), it is 600 yen for 1 day pass. For bus ticket ( from katsuta stat to park) including park entrance fee are 930 yen for adult. And 800 yen for Ferris wheel.
It’s the weekday, but still a bit crowded.
There are many food stalls inside the park with reasonable price and delicious.

Hitachi Seaside Park offers a diverse landscape that may take up to 3 hours to fully explore. The park's expansive grounds provide a variety of attractions, from wide open spaces to themed gardens. However, my visit was marred by the disappointment of finding no flowers planted in the usually vibrant Miharashi Hill. Despite this setback, the park's other features, such as its cycling paths, sand dunes, and amusement facilities, contribute to a generally enjoyable experience.
Kairakuen is a 32-acre park that was first landscaped in 1842 and is renowned for its diverse plum varieties, bamboo forest, and monuments. It is one of the Three Great Gardens of Japan, alongside Kenrokuen in Ishikawa Prefecture and Korakuen in Okayama Prefecture. Unlike the other two gardens, Kairakuen was always intended to be open to the public.
Very beautiful garden.
The bamboo and pine forest area were very peaceful, and beautiful.
Being able to go inside and up to the 3rd floor of such a wonderful old style Japanese building was amazing. And it being up on a hill gave it such great views.
Sadly I missed the peak autumn colours. But the amount of plum blossom trees there would be amazing in bloom or with autumn colour.
If you walk from mito station you can go around the wonderful lake nearby as well for more beautiful scenery.

You can buy the ticket at the entrance, dont’t need to make reservation in advance. Heard that it’s one of three most beautiful garden in Japan, I went here on end of March. It’s nice that I can see a lot of plum flowers.

One of the top three gardens in Japan. The best parts are the bamboo grove, the historical home, and the plum blossoms. It's definitely worth visiting if you are in the area, but overall I prefer the other two famous gardens (Kenrokuen in Kanazawa, and Korakuen in Okayama)

Wonderful area to escape the frenetic pace of Tokyo.
A great assortment of wide-open spaces, and small winding trails.
Some elegant historical buildings and structures, and excellent views of the nearby lake.
Convenient access along the provided paths, some of which are gravel.
Even has a temporary train station located adjacent to the entrance, which is activated for special occasions.

Went on 5 March 2022 to see the teamLab exhibition but it was rather disappointing. Plum flowers were not in full bloom either (mostly buds).

Visiting here was a milestone, having now seen ‘The Three Great Gardens of Japan’. Admittedly, my favourite has been Kōraku-en in Okayama but Kairaku-en is definitely worth a visit. The ‘main garden’ was a bit tricky to navigate to as this marker for ‘Kairaku-en’ encompasses the area as a whole. If parking near the river set a marker at ‘偕楽園 表門’ instead which is one of the main entry gates. I enjoyed the elevated layout of the park, which includes a bamboo forest, an extensive plum tree area (although I was too late for these), a collection of Sakura trees and of course Kobuntei House (extra fee, but worth it!).

I love Kairskuen garden. It was my third visit. Today in the 1st of December it was very calm and I loved strolling through the park and have a coffee in the coffee shop. I have been here before during the plum blossom season, which is if course the absolutely highlight. But then the park is very crowded.

Visited Kairakuen Plum Festival at daytime and TeamLab Kairakuen Light Festival 2022 at night. It was cold in mid-March. Many kinds of plum blossoms were in bloom and they were beautiful. I was surprised to see many plums that look like cherry blossoms.
To be honest, I was disappointed by TeamLab at night. I felt it was a normal night light up and don’t think there was much of TeamLab uniqueness.

It was a lovely park. 1-2 hours are kind of a rush through walk. Would recommend 3 hours and more. There are tea houses and panoramic areas. There is a restaurant inside and a gift shop too. Ume (plum) gift selection is not as many as I thought it would be.
Lots of stalls selling food during ume festival. There are restaurants outside too.

Picturesque garden grounds, well maintained and varied areas. Small traditional house, natural spring rock, plenty of plum trees, and a luscious bamboo forest.

It should be absolutely gorgeous during Sakura bloom time. We visited in November, it was interesting - bamboo forest, ivaki cut of pine trees etc. but I would expect more from "one of three greatest Japanese gardens". There is a traditional Japanese house in the garden (additional fee) with great view and interior paintings. Worth to visit. You can also get a coffee with sweets there. I was impressed with presentation of Tiramisu cake.

Very beautiful garden with gorgeous cedar trees and bamboo. As I visited in Nov, it isn’t the season for the plum garden, thus it was barren and sad. There was also pond washing on that day I went. Thus it was disappointing.

Nakaminato Fish Market is a must-visit for seafood lovers. If you're looking for a good deal, visit in the afternoon when stalls offer discounts to clear their stock. The market offers fresh and tasty seafood, with some stalls selling fresh fish at low prices during closing time. You can also find ice and cooler boxes for transporting your purchases. The market is located near Ashigura beach and offers a variety of food stands as well.
Very affordable fishes, shrimps, shells, oysters and others.

Way cheaper than Tsukiji and lots more variety. If you enjoy cooking, best to come here to buy the freshest seafood 😋 go back to cook.
Plenty of excellent restaurants here as well, starting from 830am

Craving seafood a lot, so this is a good placetoget freesh food. Wait till 2.30pm & onwards to get some seafood off cheaper, as the stalls would like to clear their stock for the day. There are few seafood restaurants worth your while, so save some stomach space for it. Prices (i.e.: set meals) are about ¥1,000 & above, but filling, fresh & tasty.

Aqua World Ibaraki Oarai Aquarium is a relatively new and well-sized aquarium that boasts a diverse range of marine life, as well as interactive exhibits and shows featuring dolphins and whales. Visitors can also enjoy hands-on experiences, such as the jellyfish exhibit, and observe sharks, sunfish, puffins, and otters in their habitats. The food court offers affordable options including non-seafood restaurants alongside tasty seafood dishes like clam ramen and tempura.
This aquarium is not a big one. But there is a lot to see. The areas are categorized and there are guided arrow boards to see all without missing. Don't miss to watch dolphins and sea lions show. It was very interesting. There is a very big car park. It will be very busy on long holidays. Sometimes you have to take a web ticket before you go. Example on the Golden week. After finishing watching the aquarium you can enjoy the sea view.

This is a fantastic aquarium - not too big; not too small; and rather new.
They have a number of sharks and sunfish in residence along with other exhibits including a nice cascading river exhibit and puffins and otters.
On our recent visit they had a very interesting and tasteful jellyfish exhibit. The dolphin and sea lion show was a clever and fun tie up with One Piece, which was much more interesting that when we were here a year ago.
The food court is also very tasty and affordable. The clam ramen is fantastic and you can never go wrong with the tempura shop either. They have non-seafood restaurants too 👍

The finest Sea Aquarium I have ever been to is Aqua World Ibaraki Prefecture Oarai Aquarium. Ok, ok I confess I have only been to Monterey Bay Aquarium, Ocean Park and Resorts World SEA... But still, this place is really amazing, there's Mola Mola, Wobbegong Sharks, and the Sea Lion and Dolphin Show is superb entertainment.
The sea mammals have a great rapport with their trainers and can even break dance or gyrate along with the music, balance balls on their snout. Those who sat in the first four rows needed plastic sheets to keep dry!
Priced only at SGD20.50

Mount Tsukuba, located in Ibaraki Prefecture, is a renowned 2,877-foot mountain with two peaks that offers stunning views of Tokyo and Mount Fuji. It features a cable car and hiking trails for visitors to explore its natural beauty. While not as tall as Mount Fuji, it still provides breathtaking scenery and is a popular destination for hikers looking for a slightly less challenging experience.
Nice and beautiful. Good for hike. The path is clearly maintained in natural way. No concrete or any other artificial material. However, in rainy days, it's muddy and slippery at some places. Anyway nice experience to hike it. For those who unable to climb it other options available. Cable car is cheap and easy. It's 600 ¥ per adult. Ropeway is what available.
There are shops around the base of mountain. And also few shops at the top. But, as expected, price is bit high. After reaching the top you can enjoy the panoramic view. That's marvelous. It will refresh you. If you can bring food and water the hiking will cost nothing.
Wash room facilities available. So I recommend this place for your next trip. Congrats

Very beautiful. This is my opinion on the mountain trails only. Some safety measure are lacking. I’ve worked 10years as mountain park ranger:
1. Most hiking trails/course are dangerous, some are experienced level trails. Difficultly of each trail are not labeled. Most trails are not for kids. Warnings before entering are not labeled, ask fluent Japanese speaker.
2. No park rangers monitoring entrance or exits of hiking trails/course. If you have a serious injury onsite , you will be alone. Enter at your own risk.
3. Some trails do not have access to the cable cars or rope ways.
4. No radio communication is available at checkpoints on the trials.

Mount Tsukuba or Tsukuba-san is located at the northern end of Tsukuba near Tokyo. It is one of the famous mountains in Japan because of it’s two peaks (Nyotai-san and Nantai-san). It is very easy hike mountain for beginners. The trails are rocky but refreshing. Easily accessible from Tsukuba center by bus. You can reach the peaks either cable car or ropeway. From the top you can enjoy the panoramic view of Tsukuba. Even in the clear sky day, the great mighty Fuji can be seen from the peaks. I will recommend you to go there in sunny day to enjoy the mountainous environment.

Japan’s one of the most beautiful mountains in Mt Tsukuba. There are 6 courses on Mt Tsukuba and the most difficult course is Miyukigahara course. It was difficult for me because I don’t have much experience in hiking, hence I found it a bit difficult.
This course takes us to the peak directly and on return it’s easy to take the cable car to descent if you are tired or lazy.
There are lot of eateries around the Tsukuba shrine. Also there is a small restaurant at the peak.
Depending on the interest, you can choose any of the 6 courses to truly experience the picturesque views.
If you are using public transportation.. make sure to note the timings to and from Tsukuba station.
Also there is a Tourist information centre near the Mt Tsukuba, they are really helpful. We missed the last bus to Tsukuba station, and they helped us in booking a cab to Tsukuba San guchi bus stop as there will be buses every 30 mins to Tsukuba station.

Very picturesque mountain known for its two peaks, Nyotai-san and Nantai-san. The names translate to female body and male body respectively, related to Izanami and Izanagi. The peaks themselves are very accessible with many hiking trails, a cable car, and a ropeway. The walk between the two peaks isn't too long and there is a nice area in the middle with some small shops and snacks. Apparently on clear, sunny days you can see Mt. Fuji and other Tokyo landmarks.
It seems that the view from Nyotai-san is a very famous photo spot. When we visited during Golden Week, there was a long line waiting to get photos and signs asking guests to keep the photo-taking time to about 3 minutes per person. The shrine next to the photo spot sells goshuin and a commemorative towel.
Getting up to Nantai-san was more steep, but the views were stunning! When we visited, the shrine here was closed, but you can still get the goshuin from Tsukubasan Shrine at the base.
The seasonal flowers were beautiful as well, with the whole trail lined by azaleas (late April 2023).

Simply beautiful, we loved our time hiking along the Mt Tsukuba loop trail ❤️ Mt Tsukuba has two peaks - Nyotai and Nantai. This mountain is believed to be blessed by the deities 1000 years ago when this mountain hosted the deities with great care - the mountain is always filled with green vegetation and beautiful flowers and so many variety of birds and insects live here. There were many shrines along the way of the climb. All this reminded me of Thirupathi’s Thirumala in India : almost all aspects of this mountain seemed very similar to Thirumala. Highly recommend visiting if you’re around the area 🌸

Tsukubasan Shrine is an ancient Shinto shrine situated at the foot of Mount Tsukuba in a picturesque mountain setting. It is well-known for its undulating rooftop and annual festivals, as well as being a popular destination during autumn when the leaves change color. The shrine can be easily accessed via a short walk from the nearby bus stop or by taking the cable car which has an adjacent station. Visitors must pay for parking, but entrance to the shrine itself is free.
Beautiful grounds and buildings, especially the azaleas and wisteria. We visited during Golden Week, so there were lots of fresh green leaves. I'm sure the large gingko tree is beautiful in fall.
If either of the shrines on the mountain peaks are closed for weather-related reasons when you visit, you can purchase the goshuin at this temple. I believe they will confirm that you visited the mountain peaks in order to purchase though. The cable car is nearby as well as a hiking trail, so there were many people in hiking gear.

Sakuranoyama Park, also known as Cherry Blossom Mountain Park, is a popular spot for both plane spotting and enjoying the beauty of cherry blossoms. Located near Narita International Airport in Narita City, this public park offers a unique experience of watching departing and arriving planes from close proximity due to its hillside location overlooking the airport runway. During the spring season from late March to early April, visitors can witness the stunning sight of airplanes passing through vibrant cherry blossom trees.
It's a fantastic place. In the spring, you can expect a tremendous amount of sakura blossom. And the Narita airport runway 16 is very close to the observation deck. You may enjoy the airplane spotting as well. Easy parking and easy access. Food and drinks are available.

Mesmerizing place to see planes landing and take off with additional bonus of Hanami cherry blossom viewing. The Sakura flowers here were just hypnotizing.
To see a plane on its landing approach, emerging from behind the Sakura bloom was just other worldly.. But seeing taking off planes was a damper because the park is on the back side of the take off strip and you can't really see the final takeoff clearly. But nonetheless a wonderful place to spend a Sakura filled day

Great place to go and see the airplanes that take off from Narita Airport; and it's BEAUTIFUL at Sakura's season (loads of cherry blossom trees). The stores are good and help in regards of food/drinks and airline souvenirs
The bus station Narita Airport Terminal 1 is a very clean and neat place with an experience Japanese culture near the Connection Counter. The only downside is the long international connecting flight security check. Otherwise, it's great. There are many shops still closed because of the pandemic, but overall this airport is still functioning well.
Great airport still a lot of shops are closed due to the pandemic

Narita Airport Terminal 1 isn’t just an ordinary entry point to Japan; it’s an introduction to the country’s renowned hospitality. Here’s my perspective:
As soon as you step off the plane and into this bustling terminal, the efficiency and warmth of the Japanese culture are palpable. The airport staff, dressed in impeccably neat uniforms, greet you with a welcoming bow and a genuine smile. It sets the tone for the kind of service you can expect throughout your stay in Japan.
Navigating the terminal is a breeze. The clear signage, helpful English translations, and courteous airport staff make your journey through customs, baggage claim, and transportation connections remarkably stress-free.
Now, let’s talk about the food options. Terminal 1 doesn’t disappoint when it comes to Japanese cuisine. Whether you’re craving a steaming bowl of ramen, fresh sushi, or a bento box, there are numerous eateries to choose from. The quality of the food is reliably good, and it’s an ideal way to get your first taste of authentic Japanese dishes.
The duty-free shops, offering everything from electronics to traditional souvenirs, are another highlight. And, if you have some time to spare, consider visiting the observation deck for a panoramic view of the airport’s bustling runways.
Narita Airport Terminal 1 manages to strike a harmonious balance between efficiency, comfort, and that unmistakable Japanese charm. It’s not just an airport; it’s an integral part of your journey that leaves a memorable impression of Japan’s exceptional hospitality.

Not mentioned by many, but bus stop 16 offers the free shuttle bus options to the neighbouring hotels. I specifically had to go to ANA crown plaza, so this is a very convenient way to make your way to the airport hotel without the hassle of taking a taxi.

Very clean and neat throughout the terminal. There is an Experience Japanese Culture near the Connection Counter. Each week it offers different Japanese cultural experiences. This week it is an Origami week. If time allows during connection, have fun with Japanese culture.

One of the busiest Airports in the world. Not as beautiful as Singapore or Mumbai Airport T2 but clean nonetheless. Has ample restaurants but less vegetarian or vegan friendly.

Taking the limousine bus was an easy, seamless, and cheap option to Tokyo Station. Highly recommended.
I was a first-time traveler, and the ticket booth was right outside the arrivals gate as were the buses. The cost was about $15 bucks Canadian right to Tokyo Station. No tunnels or dragging luggage all over the airport. To find trains. Very easy to use

Flights departs around 8am but departure gates opens only at 7am. You come and check in early then wander around and come back for a monster queue for departure gate. It can be quite stressful when you see that queue. Hopefully, we were able to get through that in time. Word of caution, once you check in, start lining up.

If you are looking for Japan-made thermal flask, they are available for sale inside transit area at the airport. Brands include zojirushi, tiger and thermos. Lower priced items tend not to be Japan-made. We got a Japan-made 480ml thermos for about 4000 Yen which is really reasonably priced.
Thermal flasks are usually sold near where popular snacks are. Just need to keep a lookout for them as it is a pretty small collection.

On 06/12/23 Noda and her team gave me such amazing help when l was in a dire situation. My ticket had been updated with a 28 hour layover that l couldn’t afford to do and so was then put on another flight however the airline hadn’t confirmed it. On my arrival at the airport my ticket couldn’t be found and it seemed l would not be able to go home. I was so upset and distressed and Noda did everything in her power to fix my situation quickly so that l could still make it onto the flight. There was such little time left but Noda and the others managed to get my ticket sorted in time and l was able to make it home. I pray God blesses every single person who took part in helping me get the matter sorted. Truly l’m grateful to you all, especially Noda. Thank you for your help but especially your kindness towards me, l will never forget you. Noda was on desk F17 for the 19:30 flight to London Gatwick with a layover in Shanghai Pudong.

Do not use the Automatic Currency Exchange Machine when arriving at Terminal 1! It charged me 22 Euro for exchanging my money without any information given. If you fly from Taipei airport, I HIGHLY recommend just exchanging your money there, as the rates are much better/you pay much less for the service.
Horrible experience and disappointed that there is no information on this.

I'll never travel to Narita without this trip planner again
If you're looking for a spot to watch planes take off and land, head to the Narita International Airport's Terminal 1's Observation Deck. The deck offers a great view of all the international flights that fly out and in from here, making it an interesting stop for travelers. There are also some great shops and restaurants nearby should you need some sustenance during your travels.
Great view of planes landing and taking off! There are benches and small fence openings, allowing the use of telephoto camera lens.
There is a nice sushi restaurant (Kaisen Misakiko) near the observation deck. If you still craving for sushi before departure, this restaurant offer conveyor belt sushi. The sushi was not bad for the location.

You can watch many aircrafts from here, mainly from the Star Alliance airlines. The good part is that if you have a reflex camera there's few parts in the fence where you can stick it out so there won't be any obstruction within your sights.

There were almost no planes. I sincerely hope that it will become a terminal where many ANA planes come and go as soon as possible.

Back in the day many airports had observation decks that anyone could to view planes coming in and go out. This is one of the last free ones remaining in the world. I’m surprised that many people didn’t know about this. I had a few hours and I walked around the deck and took a nap under the sun which was very peaceful.

Located just a 15-minute bus ride from Narita International Airport, Shisui Premium Outlets is a shopper's paradise with over 180 shops offering global apparel and footwear brands at discounted prices. This makes it an ideal spot for travelers with layovers or some time to spare before their flights. The outlet boasts popular stores found in Tokyo's main shopping districts like Ginza and Shibuya, making it a convenient stop for international tourists looking to shop for both domestic and world-famous fashion brands.
Shisui outlet is only 10 minutes drive from our Home and we loved this place. Huge selection of branded items, food court, play ground for kids and pet is allowed to bring. Pet friendly and for Family to enjoy each company.

The place was our end-of-trip highlight in early July, 2015. After we had checked in our baggage at the Narita Airport, we took the Outlet shuttle there. My daughters bought to their hearts' content and I got a branded jacket at a discount price before rushing back to the Airport to take our departing flight!

Bigger than I expected not sure if this is the biggest outlet in Tokyo but it definitely is one could spend the whole day here just window shopping but gets boring after a while I guess😇
Daniel Dizzy — Google review
It's a cookie-cutter outlet mall and It's actually pretty amazing just how 'meh' it is. You'll recognize the popular western shops and I think the big boy brands like Nike, Adidas and Gap use lower-priced inventory specifically designed for places like this. Go into Nike and tell me they don't use less expensive materials for their kicks. Not really outlet prices either. The food is boring, because it's the same places you see everywhere....is this Aeon? The restaurants and food court are way too small for a place this size too. You can take your dog, so...there are dogs there peeing on all of the pillars. I saw a large group of people pushing cats in strollers once...I think I'm going to buy a goose and take it...
Bryan Harper — Google review
This outlet is quite large and offers a wide selection of premium brands. The food court is also excellent, with halal choices available. I was pleased to find that it wasn't too crowded, which made shopping here a delightful experience.

Lots of Outlets in Tokyo. But there is difference between outlet and premium outlet. Definitely premium outlet is a better choice. More brands for selection.
Shisui was the closest to Narita Airport. Many visitors taking direct bus from airport. We take from Terminal 1, South gate. First floor. F3. Bus stop 30.
In fact, Bus schedule ride from T1 to T2 then reach outlet, and the other way round too.
7 schedule ride to and back from airport to outlet, as early as 952am and latest 1638pm. Bus ride only charge 500 yen one way. Ideally prepare exact amount for ride, not all driver willing to change big to small note.
Shisui Premium Outlets have lots of brands probably 250 to 300 brands. But not all brands provide attractive discount and large product range. Probably half of them are worth visiting.
There is a food court in the centre of the outlet. Limited food stall and selection but very spacious and lots of seats during morning hour. Do go early before lunch hours to avoid lunch crowd.
Overall, Shisui Premium Outlet was a nice and worthy visit outlet.

A lot of comments here are not helpful.
1. To get into this place (from Narita Airport), take a bus from Narita Airport Terminal 2 1F (North Exit) at park 28B and Terminal 1 1F (South Exit) at park 30
2. Departure is every hour, payment at the bus for 500 yen (one-way). Suica card accepted. Please check indicated schedules.
3. Going back to airport there is a designated area. Check Nariport airport sign together with the schedule of departure.
4. As to the shops, there is a lot and 1 day is not enough. Don't complain for some stuff that are not available as some outlet stores are only limited to carry or sell a selected model or sku. You will not be hungry here too.
Today I can say that the place is crowded.
Enjoy tax-free shopping.

Inubōsaki is a picturesque location that features a rugged headland with an 1874 lighthouse and windswept coastal trails. It's renowned for its stunning sunrise views. Aside from the lighthouse, there's also the Inubow Terasu Terrace which comprises of a family restaurant (Seaside Terrace), nice bakery (Ohana), local craft beer stall, and second-floor shops selling various local products like plates, cups, glasses, magnets, etc.
It's very relaxing to see the sea view at the 2nd floor of the building. The peanut dessert is yummy but a little bit sweet.

You can climb the lighthouse. You can enjoy a panoramic view of the sea and Choshi. It is a little scary because it is so high, but the view is beautiful. There is also an exhibition room.

Wasn’t expecting much but a lighthouse (300 JPY to go inside and climb up), but they actually built the “Inubow Terasu Terrace” which hosts a family restaurant (Seaside Terrace), very nice bakery (Ohana — the bread is really good), a stall selling local craft beers, and a second floor dedicated to all sorts of local products (not just food but also plates, cups, glasses, magnets, etc).
Plus there is a long walk along the coastline where the strong waves throw themselves against the rocks. You can follow it to a little tunnel, and then make your way to Inubōsaki Station, an old quaint station.
Overall, the trip turned out to be very fun and enjoyable, a welcome surprise.

Very relaxing area. I've been here three times this year. You can take a walk or sit by the shore. I think pets are allowed as well. It's ¥200-300 yen to go on the lighthouse to view. You have to go up narrow stairs, when I went up the lighthouse it was super windy and raining not like in the pictures. It was fun for me. No time limit after you first enter.

As a native Chibanian now far far away from the homeland, any part or tip of “CHI-BA+KUN” must get nothing but full marks. Even without such thoughts, this grand and scenic cape is in fact well worth visiting despite it being more than a couple of hours away from Tokyo by any means.
The foods here around are great, too, as Chiba, led by Choshi fishery port, is a sea product kingdom as well as Japan’s second-biggest farming prefecture.
So, do recommend taking time for walking and looking around the lighthouse and numerous sightseeing paths, then splashing on such local delicacies.

The Place I can see almost 360 degree ocean view. There is terrace with restaurant which people can take a rest even I can sleep in front of the beautiful ocean view. Old Lighthouse also good to visit. And I walk down the near the ocean and I can refresh myself here.
The Inubosaki Lighthouse is a tower from the late 19th century that offers panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean from its top. Besides this, there is a modern farmers market/terrace nearby which reminds visitors of coastal walks in Australia and Busan. The cafe and restaurants here serve great food, while fresh fruits and veggies can be purchased at the farmers market. You can also enjoy craft beer while admiring ocean views within 10 minutes' walk from Inubo-Station.
Beautiful stop and great place to grab a beer after a long day of bike riding! It's a busy location though so expect a crowd. If you can find a bench or a soft spot on the ground you can take in the sights and the fresh ocean air. The lighthouse is a historic location and a great place to take some photos. Recommended stop for cyclists in the area.

The place is very attractive. In order to climb to the top of the lighthouse, you need to use the stairs, that is, there is no elevator. At the top of the lighthouse there is a wonderful view of the ocean and the promenade. The only thing is a strong wind. Near the swing there is a cafe and a place for souvenirs. There is a miniature version of the customs officer with whom you can take a picture. On the 1st floor of the pendulum, there is a small museum that tells the story of its creation, there are models of ships.

Between first and last breath:
Is that all that's left
A moment in eternity.
If everything is here, what do you really want to do here and now?
You can only really live in the here and now.
There is birth, there is death and
Limited space between them.
It's that simple.
As much as I wish things were different,
This does not change.
When life finally awakens,
Can you see things as they are?
Now, here, in the perfect present.
The present is formed by a chain of moments.
These moments are at the same time eternal.
Eternity is the present and we live in it.

At the east coast facing the Pacific, the light house is still functioning well. U can go up to the top by paying just Y200. The view, strong wind and sound were extraordinary. U can walk around by the coast nearby.

Inarguably, one of the most symbolic and historically important lighthouses.
It is active, despite the fact that nowadays ships and fishing boats at sea are depending on GPS, not the light beam, and people still love this sturdy building very much.

Modern farmers market/terrace, the coastal walk reminded me of going on walks on coast lines in Australia ( Bondi to coogee beach ) and walks in Busan. If you’re in the area then check it out. The cafe and restaurants they have there are great too and you can get fresh fruits and veggies at the farmers market.
