The Village is a nice place for the locals , but not a tourist stop.
The food was amazing but very little appealing outside of that.
Maybe when Covid is over more will come back

Nothing is so unique but enjoyable enough for me. The restaurant on the left serves average food, and the shop on the right sells some food, plants, and souvenir goods of the Utsunomiya area. And what's more important is that the toilet is cleaner than other places like that in Japan.

The Oya History Museum, a one-of-a-kind attraction, is situated in an old quarry that boasts an impressive system of giant underground chambers used for exhibitions and concerts. The sheer size of the interior and its fascinating history will leave visitors stunned. It's advisable to bring warm clothing as it can get quite chilly inside. This is a perfect meeting place with convenient parking facilities available nearby. Visitors should also remember to bring a light shirt as the caves are typically around 6 degrees Celsius in temperature.
great place to meet. easy parking. take a thin shirt because inside the caves the temperature is around 6 degrees.

The quarry-turned-cavern museum is a bit far from Utsunomiya downtown, connected by just a narrow prefectural road and if you bother to use public transportation, an hour bus ride from the central station.
Nevertheless it's a unique experience because to my knowledge, it's the only subterranean museum in Japan. Worth a visit especially if you are into history and art. The cavern turned out to be much bigger than what I expected. It's said it started relatively small since the Edo period and later the exploitation of the stone picked up during the industrialization of Japan afterwards (AFAIK it was only closed for commercial quarrying in 1970s). In some places, the differences of the etched bedrock and walls due to manual and modern mechanical masonry techniques are shown.
There were also interesting permanent art exhibitions inside the cavern. They also exhibited the photos of films and TV series that took place in the cavern, one of them is cult TV series Yuusha Yoshihiko (I think it was one of the episodes in 1st season).

The outside is beautiful but I enter the underground museum itself. There is a weird photo I have captured and it’s pretty cold. And I felt something and had a bad headache after the sightseeing.

It's a great place to visit during the hot summer. The whole tour only takes about 30 minutes so don't plan on it taking up a lot of your day.
It's like a cave so it's really chilly and you might want to prepare a light windbreaker or jacket. It's amazing to imagine that people carried such heavy rocks on their backs.
The cave was the location for many movie shootings or music videos and so on. Even Enya visited a few years ago, it seems?
You should make this one part of your whole day itinerary. There is a nearby Stone Temple and a stone quarry also not too far away.

Lovely place, worth to go. The huge cave have treated with soft background music and lighting effect. It’s cold inside the cave, which likely a super large fridge to freeze people 😂

Wonderfully unique experience. A welcome break from the heat of summer. Bits of information are posted throughout the many caverns. Worth a quick visit if passing through the area or visiting Nikko.

Very unique destination!!! I was shocked by the size of the interior and the history behind everything. (Pro tip) - it is cold inside so bring a jacket.

An awesome place to take beautiful photos of nature (and of course ourselves as well). It is literally a natural refrigerator so please do wear a thick clothes when you visit here.
There's a cafe outside the cave that sells delicious gelato ice cream and the best coffee I've ever had in my life.
Kevin Yapri (?????) — Google review
A somewhat quirky spot for a foreign tourist, but glad I discovered this place on the drive back from Nikko. There is ample free parking and a short walk will take you to the cave entrance. Upon entry, there is a small museum with artifacts from when the cave was constructed. The real attraction however begins when you descend a staircase into the cool depths of the old quarry. Neutral and coloured lighting creates a mysterious scene, illuminating the scarred walls and exhibits scattered about. I ended up spending a decent amount of time here, exploring each nook and cranny as I went. Upon exit there is a shop and restaurant where you can buy Oya stone keepsakes, the very material which was mined from within. Definitely worth a look if passing by.

It takes approximately 32 minutes to reach the awe-inspiring Oya History Museum (大谷資料館, Ōya Shiryōkan) from Utsunomiya. Situated in the picturesque Tochigi prefecture, this remarkable museum is ingeniously nestled within an expansive, abandoned stone quarry. The sheer craftsmanship and ingenuity displayed within this man-made marvel are nothing short of extraordinary, leaving visitors in a state of awe and disbelief. Exploring the museum's intricate stone formations and learning about its fascinating history is an experience that truly defies imagination!

It’s the massive underground network of caverns with more than 20,000 square meters of open space. Its scale is equivalent to Metropolitan Area Outer Waterway in Saitama, which is another place I would recommend. For 800 yen it’s very much worth visiting as it will give you an one of a kind experience you can’t handle elsewhere.
Ryo Flying — Google review
A very large stone quarry of Oya stone, which is considered quite famous in Japan and is used in many important buildings around the country.
Matan Katz — Google review
This place is super unique. It’s basically a walk-through cave where they used to mine stones used in building, and it kind of looks like something out of a sci-fi movie. It’s underground, so it feels nice and cool during the hot summer. :) It’s also a short walk to some other cool historical areas such as the giant Buddha statue.
David Kellin — Google review
We Bsoluyely love visiting this quarry. It's about 50 deg F inside the quarry. The massive space and its history is a reflection of japanese craftsmanship. We highly recommend this place, especially in the summer.

Pretty awesome place to pay a visit with family! Cool underground old stone mine, the temperature underground is cool and comfortable. The view here is pretty awesome, lots of movie and advertisements are filmed right here! It is definitely worth taking a visit here with family. There is a restaurant right in front of the mine entrance, so you can enjoy a meal or ice cream here nearby. We pretty love it!

Utsunomiya Futaarayama Shrine, a renowned Shinto shrine located in the heart of Utsunomiya city, is easily accessible from the train station and boasts an impressive long staircase and torii gate. This storied complex is particularly famous for hosting the Rei-sai thanksgiving festival every October. Visitors can enjoy some local snacks at nearby food stalls and take a pleasant walk to Utsunomiya Castle.
The arch of the Shintoism's shrine is too large structure on the side of road in city. Even events happen here, like Kekkon(marriage) or any special occasion. It has many structures of deities, and red colored Tori gates take through them from outer world to the inner spiritual world. I love this big shrine here, the customs locals do here in a que is not faded here unlike other city places. One must experience this through a visit and following the things that are prescribed earlier.

Urban oasis in the heart of Utsunomiya. Like many shrines in Japanese cities, it's perched on top of a hill and can be reached by climbing a steep stair. There is no lift or escalator of any kind unlike in some downtown shrines elsewhere, so some cautions are needed. One can see down towards the bustling downtown and preserved Utsunomiya Castle some hundred of meters away.

I went to explore since I was in Utsunomiya. It was a nice place but there was so many stairs that I was already tired half way up. Though I was lugging a bunch of camera gear and was tired from traveling. I don’t know much of the history behind this place but known as Omyojin-sama or Futaara-san. With three deities Toyoki-Irihiko-no-Mikoto, Omononushi-no-Mikoto, and Kotoshironushi-no-Mikoto being worshipped.

I visited Utsunomiya Futaarayma Shrine in March and it was really nice! I came from Nikko by train and the Shrine was close to the Utsunomiya train station and easy to find. The area was really pretty and I would definetely visit again! It didn’t cost anything. Also if you are visiting Nikko from Tokyo by train and you have to stop in Utsunomiya I would recommend you to see the Shrine!

Found this place by chance from an ad while I was in Tokyo in April. It turns out to be my most precious memory during my trip. It's easy to get there from Oshiage (skytree) Station. About and 1.5 (?) ride.
I went on a week day and it was a few days before their cherry blossom festival ends. So not much people. Although there was not much cherry blossom left, the canola blossom field are just so beautiful! If there was sakura, you'll get that stunning pink and yellow flower combination. (Come around end or middle of march)
*Check their website for flower conditions.
I recommend buy some food and have a nice picnic there! But there is a local market near by. Please clean after yourself & keep the park clean. Overall, I love it and will go back when I have a chance to.

We went there for a walk. There’s always that special feeling you get whenever you’re out in nature. It is refreshing and energizing. It’s the season for hydrangeas (Japanese call them Ajisai) and they are almost in full bloom. Check them out!

The flowers are almost withered now but the overall looking still good. If you stand near the stair still can take good view of the flowers. It must be amazing if you can come when the flower mankai. Great attractions, nature, and of course racing. The one star that it falls short on is food. The huge positive is that you are allowed to bring in your own food and have a picnic of it, so only you are to blame if you aren't happy with the limited selection of food services. The food is not bad, don't get me wrong but there aren't enough options to satisfy a multi-day trip.

Came for the Honda thanks day and ordered online the early bird ticket which is slightly cheaper than buying on the day. It includes entry and all you can play entry to the amusement park included the zip line which is a great deal.
It's a massive space about 2.5 hours away from Central Tokyo... Great if you can see something such as a race but wouldn't travel here just for the amusement park.

I came here for the Honda Collection Hall not realising this is actually a huge complex with not only the racing track, but rides, attractions, food trucks, restaurants and shops. Whilst the entry fee was a bit more than I expected to pay due to requiring a seperate entry fee for each person and vehicle (more so due to being a race day), I ended up watching some racing and having lunch which worked out OK in the end. Surprisingly, this is also a beautiful spot to see Sakura with numerous trees lining the main roadway.

Loads of fun. Can bring kids of almost all ages. And fun for adults as well. Nice hotel on premisses and if you go on a race day on the real track it's fun to watch and hear the roar of engines.

If you have a passion for cars, a must see - although it is quite far from anything else. Park had an entry fee but for cal overs money well spent. We saw many classic cars, race cars and motorbikes. Bought the illumination + unlimited rides pass ticket for 3200yen (for entry after 3pm) via asoview.com so I managed to enter immediately.
Highly recommend the go-kart ride! Zoo + amusement park + illumination. I had more fun than I imagined.
This place is a little old but has a retro vibe - nostalgic!
Kiki Kika — Google review
I went with friends there for illumination. Unfortunately, there was no bus at all from 17:00 so we had to walk for a while and we were alone on the street at that time which scared us, afraid if we were lost or something.
The ticket cost about 1300 yen if I'm not mistaken, and you get 200 yen off the next time you come to see the illumination again, so make sure to not throw away the ticket if you plan to go again.
Because of the access, there were not many people there and we didn't have to wait to ride an attraction. Oh, you can buy the pass for all attractions or you can buy ticket inside and just ride ones that you would like to ride. There are many ticket machine inside, so no worries. They have lots of toilet too, very convenient. I recommend this place if you want to see beautiful illumination without many people so you can take photos as much as you can, as long as you are willing to walk a bit to reach the zoo from the train station.

from what i have seen, some animals in their enclosure "feels like" they are not well-taken cared of. they look stressed and very unhappy. it was cold, and some of the animals are left very cold without any source of a little "heat".
-some animals looks very sick, like the white tiger on one of my videos who limps and looks hurting. it was traumatizing to see an animal walking back and forth limping in agony with no one to help him. 👎
-i have been to other zoos, tobu zoo is the worst one, me and my kids have been to. (my opinion)

Great for families. Kids can have a great time seeing all the different animals. Amazing to be able to see white tigers, giraffes, rhinoceroses, and lions up close. Ample seating, food, and restrooms. Go early before the park doors open and park in the west parking lot, very close walk to the entrance from that parking lot.

Really good place to visit and spen your time. We watched the winter illuminations also thats really good. We didn't did any attractions activities but next time surely we do. Its better to get the full pass and enter because its allows you so many activities. Otherwise you have to pay each activity individualy inside thats little bit costly.
They have special activities for pass holders like allow feeding for elephants, go closer to white rhino. Also becarefull when you are closer to elephants area they will trow some muds sometimes thats not intentionally they throw it for them selves but those comes outside the area.
Go early because some activities end around 3.00 p.m. Also some animals are not show after 4.00 p.m. You can find all information from there site.
Conclusion this is a very nice place to visit with your family and friends. You can enjoy alot. Staff also so friendly. Lots of animals to see.

Everything is clean, working and staff are friendly and helpful. Great day for the kids anytime. In summer bring loads of drinks there is alot of walking as the park is big.

I went there yesterday just to take some photos of animals. However, almost all parts of the zoo used cages that almost blocked any photographer from taking a good shot. If there could be a higher place where we could photograph them could help a lot.
For dangerous animals, they were in glass cages. This would help us a lot as photographers if it was not for the accumulated dirty or the high differences in temperature between outside and the inside that made it difficult for anyone from getting a good photograph of those beautiful animals.
For families and people just enjoying the view of all these great creatures, I think the park is a very good place to visit. As a person that went there just to take some photographs, I believe that I wouldn't go again for this purpose, anymore.
Some bad samples were attached here. Of course I took some other photos that were great, though.

There is also a small amusement park with a number of fun rides for kids and adults. Getting the all you can ride ticket is advised and it runs about 500yen per ride if you go single ticket purchases. The all you can ride wrist band works out to about 6 attractions which you can do pretty quick along with repeated goes on things like the roller coaster. There's a fun pool as well but that wasn't open when we went.
Beyond the amusement park towards the east gate is a pond/lake with some nice views and a wading bird area just behind that.
A decent place to go with the family for a day out.

Mount Tsukuba, located in Ibaraki Prefecture, is a renowned 2,877-foot mountain with two peaks that offers stunning views of Tokyo and Mount Fuji. It features a cable car and hiking trails for visitors to explore its natural beauty. While not as tall as Mount Fuji, it still provides breathtaking scenery and is a popular destination for hikers looking for a slightly less challenging experience.
Nice and beautiful. Good for hike. The path is clearly maintained in natural way. No concrete or any other artificial material. However, in rainy days, it's muddy and slippery at some places. Anyway nice experience to hike it. For those who unable to climb it other options available. Cable car is cheap and easy. It's 600 ¥ per adult. Ropeway is what available.
There are shops around the base of mountain. And also few shops at the top. But, as expected, price is bit high. After reaching the top you can enjoy the panoramic view. That's marvelous. It will refresh you. If you can bring food and water the hiking will cost nothing.
Wash room facilities available. So I recommend this place for your next trip. Congrats

The view from both peaks was beautiful, but the scenery the peak 女体 offered was absolutely breathtaking. The blue trail is the shortest, but a bit difficult for someone without a good physical condition.

Very beautiful. This is my opinion on the mountain trails only. Some safety measure are lacking. I’ve worked 10years as mountain park ranger:
1. Most hiking trails/course are dangerous, some are experienced level trails. Difficultly of each trail are not labeled. Most trails are not for kids. Warnings before entering are not labeled, ask fluent Japanese speaker.
2. No park rangers monitoring entrance or exits of hiking trails/course. If you have a serious injury onsite , you will be alone. Enter at your own risk.
3. Some trails do not have access to the cable cars or rope ways.
4. No radio communication is available at checkpoints on the trials.

We started the hike from the down , it was bit difficult and it took around 3 hours to reach the summit . Overall the hiking route was challenging and we enjoyed the hiking.

Mount Tsukuba or Tsukuba-san is located at the northern end of Tsukuba near Tokyo. It is one of the famous mountains in Japan because of it’s two peaks (Nyotai-san and Nantai-san). It is very easy hike mountain for beginners. The trails are rocky but refreshing. Easily accessible from Tsukuba center by bus. You can reach the peaks either cable car or ropeway. From the top you can enjoy the panoramic view of Tsukuba. Even in the clear sky day, the great mighty Fuji can be seen from the peaks. I will recommend you to go there in sunny day to enjoy the mountainous environment.

Japan’s one of the most beautiful mountains in Mt Tsukuba. There are 6 courses on Mt Tsukuba and the most difficult course is Miyukigahara course. It was difficult for me because I don’t have much experience in hiking, hence I found it a bit difficult.
This course takes us to the peak directly and on return it’s easy to take the cable car to descent if you are tired or lazy.
There are lot of eateries around the Tsukuba shrine. Also there is a small restaurant at the peak.
Depending on the interest, you can choose any of the 6 courses to truly experience the picturesque views.
If you are using public transportation.. make sure to note the timings to and from Tsukuba station.
Also there is a Tourist information centre near the Mt Tsukuba, they are really helpful. We missed the last bus to Tsukuba station, and they helped us in booking a cab to Tsukuba San guchi bus stop as there will be buses every 30 mins to Tsukuba station.

Very picturesque mountain known for its two peaks, Nyotai-san and Nantai-san. The names translate to female body and male body respectively, related to Izanami and Izanagi. The peaks themselves are very accessible with many hiking trails, a cable car, and a ropeway. The walk between the two peaks isn't too long and there is a nice area in the middle with some small shops and snacks. Apparently on clear, sunny days you can see Mt. Fuji and other Tokyo landmarks.
It seems that the view from Nyotai-san is a very famous photo spot. When we visited during Golden Week, there was a long line waiting to get photos and signs asking guests to keep the photo-taking time to about 3 minutes per person. The shrine next to the photo spot sells goshuin and a commemorative towel.
Getting up to Nantai-san was more steep, but the views were stunning! When we visited, the shrine here was closed, but you can still get the goshuin from Tsukubasan Shrine at the base.
The seasonal flowers were beautiful as well, with the whole trail lined by azaleas (late April 2023).

Mt.Nyotai&Mt.Nantai, the 877m of hike to the top of Tsukubasan. We park at tsutsujigaoka parking lot, we pass the famous “benkei-nanamodori”, we had our lunch at Koma view terrace and we ride the ropeway going down. A beautiful, fulfilling & challenging family bonding.

The ropeway will take you up to the summit with ease! There are several restaurants at the summit. It should be noted, however, that most of them only accept cash. We then walked down from the summit. It was exciting, with steep slopes and lots of huge rocks. This is a great place to enjoy nature.

Simply beautiful, we loved our time hiking along the Mt Tsukuba loop trail ❤️ Mt Tsukuba has two peaks - Nyotai and Nantai. This mountain is believed to be blessed by the deities 1000 years ago when this mountain hosted the deities with great care - the mountain is always filled with green vegetation and beautiful flowers and so many variety of birds and insects live here. There were many shrines along the way of the climb. All this reminded me of Thirupathi’s Thirumala in India : almost all aspects of this mountain seemed very similar to Thirumala. Highly recommend visiting if you’re around the area 🌸

This is perfect time of the year for hiking. They have several trails to get to the top and cable car/rope way are available every 10’ too.
The path can be steepy and rocky at some points but overall the trails are so beautiful.
There’s terrace in the between of 2 tops and it offer food with reasonable prices.

Twin mountains in which one is male and another is female.
Though a lot of stories, and folklore there are many history behind these mountains and many spots to visit. It is a very easy hike mountain even for a beginners, the lovely weather and trails are quite refreshing. Anyone of any age will enjoy the mountains trail. And there are small shrine or rocks along the shrine with history written on it.
Tsukubasan Shrine is an ancient Shinto shrine situated at the foot of Mount Tsukuba in a picturesque mountain setting. It is well-known for its undulating rooftop and annual festivals, as well as being a popular destination during autumn when the leaves change color. The shrine can be easily accessed via a short walk from the nearby bus stop or by taking the cable car which has an adjacent station. Visitors must pay for parking, but entrance to the shrine itself is free.
Beautiful grounds and buildings, especially the azaleas and wisteria. We visited during Golden Week, so there were lots of fresh green leaves. I'm sure the large gingko tree is beautiful in fall.
If either of the shrines on the mountain peaks are closed for weather-related reasons when you visit, you can purchase the goshuin at this temple. I believe they will confirm that you visited the mountain peaks in order to purchase though. The cable car is nearby as well as a hiking trail, so there were many people in hiking gear.

Its a nice walk to the shrine up the hill. It was quite busy but with kind employees keeping things clean. There were nice wood carvings not on the main shrine but a few stories down. The main shrine and omikuji stations had some social distancing. People are friendly.

Beautiful nature hike, great choice for beginning climbers. Shuttle bus from the station makes easy access, the shop on the mountain has surprisingly good ramen, and champon. Would recommend.
Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, a former estate turned 144-acre park, was originally created as a recreational garden for the Imperial family. It is an Important Cultural Property and features three types of gardens: English, French, and Japanese. Throughout the year, the park hosts various events such as photography lessons, chrysanthemum flower exhibitions, and traditional Japanese art performances.
Went here for the second time and love it more! The garden is clean and spacious. Cherry blossoms can still be seen even though it is already at the end of April. There are also few tea houses and Starbucks in this garden. Great park for doing picnics and walking.

After a very heavy first night in Japan, I headed here to wander through the beautiful gardens. If anything is going to clear your head and help give you clarity in life it is this place! Sitting on the grass and looking into the distance you can see the city of Japan and it's beautiful skyline of buildings. The park was so quiet and serene, with so many pretty flowers and greenery. I remember many times in Japan on my trip, but this place was definitely one of them. Loved it

Every time I visit, it feels like stepping into an oasis in the middle of a desert. The park offers a variety of seasonal flowers, plants, historical buildings, and even a modern Starbucks. If you're looking to escape the crowds of Tokyo, this place can be quite refreshing.
There is an entrance fee of 500 yen. It might seem a bit expensive compared to other parks, but the park is well-maintained and beautiful. I especially like the grassy areas in the park.
Just a friendly reminder that bringing alcohol and pets inside the park is not allowed.

If you are looking for a greenhouse, it may be easier to get off at Shinjuku Gyoen Station or Yotsuya Sanchome Station and enter from Okido Gate.
The parking lot is also at Okido Gate, so it's the same when you go by car.
When using strollers, wheelchairs, walking aids, etc.
The botanical garden is open for everyone to enjoy, so the passage from the entrance gate to the greenhouse is wide and flat, but there is an incline point that makes you feel as if you are actually exploring nature.
toilet
There is a toilet in the greenhouse near the entrance.

One of my favorite park in Tokyo. Huge amount of open space and tons of well maintained trees and greens and different types of flowers. We saw lots of roses late autumn still. But we missed most of the foliage.
If you want a quick escape from this big city, this is a must go. Best for picnic on a mild sunny day.
You also see there are couple coffee and tea shops to relax a bit.

Peaceful park at the center of Shinjuku that is one of the most congested areas in Tokyo. It costs $5 or so to enter, but on the flip side, you can enjoy a very clean and peaceful park with a rich nature. The cherry blossoms here are something you need to see if you come to Japan in spring. Highly recommend a place to visit, whether you are a tourist or not.

Beautiful garden. Visited in mid-February 2024 and cherry blossoms were starting to bloom. Grass lawns were yellow though. Just about a 10 minute walk from Shinjuku station, this park should be a must visit for anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of shopping for which Shinjuku is famous. Yes, it costs 500 yen for adults to enter, but to access these lawns, small woods, greenhouse, the Japanese gardens, and other features I'd consider this a bargain! Just walking around and enjoying sitting on the lawn or a bench is a lovely way to spend a morning or afternoon and recharge - many people will pick up food for a picnic on the way from the station. Inside, the park is very well signposted, and points of historical interest have information in English. This provision of information extends down to trees and plants being labelled, even in the main park. The whole place is usually spotlessly clean, and one of the few public places that still has rubbish bins. There are vending machines, as well as a shop selling traditional Japanese desserts. Toilets are free, modern, quite clean and have soap dispensers. Just remember to check the opening hours, as the park closes in the afternoon!

This garden is a must visit in Tokyo, the scenery is spectacular giving you a Insta worthy photo in any angle. The garden is great for any age. The park was so quite and a great place to clear your mind or just rest.
On my first day in Japan I took it easy and headed there for a few hours to ready up for the days ahead of me! The gardens are very well maintained with dozens of species of flowers and trees that cover like a canopy. The best time to visit is in fall where there are several colours of plants creating a beautiful contrast!

You can purchase tickets in front of the gate or enter with a transportation IC card.
The inside was quite spacious, and some people walked for Starbucks, and many foreigners came to enjoy the scenery inside.
On the way, there was a fairly spacious lawn square, so some people had a picnic or took a nap, and it seemed comfortable.

Not a Tokyo “must see” but still a pretty park. The admission fee is justifiable for those with a student ID (about $1.50) but a little high for adults ($3.75) We spent around a few hours walking around and enjoyed the open grass areas and zen garden bridges after our first few days in Tokyo, but after going to Kyoto the next week it offered much better parks to the point where I think this park is only worth it if you aren’t planning to make it to Kyoto. Additionally the Starbucks in the center of the park has a nice view and offers some Japan only matcha flavors which I think are worth checking out if you drink coffee.

In late winter, the park full with ginkgo and momiji, their yellow and red make the park very very beautiful

Ueno Park is a renowned city park in Japan, attracting both locals and foreign visitors. Once the site of the influential Kaneiji Temple, it was transformed into one of the nation's first Western-style gardens while retaining its traditional charm. The park boasts numerous cherry trees, making it a stunning spot for enjoying springtime cherry blossoms. Great park with long walkways surrounded by many cherry blossom trees.
In 2024, cherry blossom flowers bloom later than before due to the cold blast in the last week of March.

One of the best park to see Sakura, and it will be very crowded around that time. During the sakura season, you can see many people doing picnic in the park. This Park is pretty big as it has some temples and one of temple is dedicate to one of the famous "7 Lucky Gods." It also has the biggest Zoo in Tokyo where you enter for a fee. In the middle of the park there is a lake where you rent a paddle boat. Certain times there is a show (such as a monkey performance, etc) in the park or some flee market. Not to mentioned, they many some famous museums here such as the National Museum Nature and Science, etc, They also have a cozy Starbucks in the middle of the park. I spent a lot of time here just soaking in the nature. I write this in late November, and although I didn't get to see the cherry blossoms in bloom, I did see the Ginkgo trees going green to yellow. If you watch these trees as the sunset starts you would see them look like shining gold. I happened to catch a Ninja Fest event by accident, there was some really cool stage entertainment and food stands (cash only). Despite us visiting March 30 (in 2024), the cherry blossoms had not bloomed, and that's one of the key attractions for this park. That's a shame, because we traveled all this way. Kairakuen is a 32-acre park that was first landscaped in 1842 and is renowned for its diverse plum varieties, bamboo forest, and monuments. It is one of the Three Great Gardens of Japan, alongside Kenrokuen in Ishikawa Prefecture and Korakuen in Okayama Prefecture. Unlike the other two gardens, Kairakuen was always intended to be open to the public.
Very beautiful garden.
The bamboo and pine forest area were very peaceful, and beautiful.
Being able to go inside and up to the 3rd floor of such a wonderful old style Japanese building was amazing. And it being up on a hill gave it such great views.
Sadly I missed the peak autumn colours. But the amount of plum blossom trees there would be amazing in bloom or with autumn colour.

Visiting here was a milestone, having now seen ‘The Three Great Gardens of Japan’. Admittedly, my favourite has been Kōraku-en in Okayama but Kairaku-en is definitely worth a visit. The ‘main garden’ was a bit tricky to navigate to as this marker for ‘Kairaku-en’ encompasses the area as a whole. If parking near the river set a marker at ‘偕楽園 表門’ instead which is one of the main entry gates. I enjoyed the elevated layout of the park, which includes a bamboo forest, an extensive plum tree area (although I was too late for these), a collection of Sakura trees and of course Kobuntei House (extra fee, but worth it!).

Plum blossoms are not full on (10%) as of Feb 3rd, but it was nice day to walk around the park.

Very beautiful garden with gorgeous cedar trees and bamboo. As I visited in Nov, it isn’t the season for the plum garden, thus it was barren and sad. There was also pond washing on that day I went. Thus it was disappointing.

Asakusa, located about 2.5 miles north of Tokyo Station, is a must-visit for international tourists seeking traditional Japanese culture. At its heart lies the stunning Sensoji temple, surrounded by a district that has preserved an authentic atmosphere from the Edo Period. The area offers a variety of experiences, from exploring Nakamise street and its traditional stores to enjoying lively evenings at Hoppy Street's Japanese restaurants.
Sensō-ji, Tokyo's oldest temple, was constructed in 645 to honor Kannon, the goddess of mercy. It is located in Asakusa, a spiritual and historical center of the city. The temple features a 3.3-meter-high red paper lantern and incense believed to have healing properties. Surrounding the temple is a vibrant street market offering various traditional items for sale.
Beautiful temple
The shopping street and district around it are full of life. There are plenty of restaurants to dine at, cafes to eat at, shops to buy souvenirs from.. if you like Shiba, I'd recommend checking out one of the Shiba Cafe nearby
Note, it's extremely crowded on New Years, and entering the temple to pray can easily take an hour or more.
Enjoy!

Awesome place to go see. A must go destination in Tokyo. It does get very busy so I recommend taking the train but there is parking available nearby too. So many cool thing to see here and do. A great day trip location. So many shops and restaurants and neat things to take pictures of.

Absolutely one of my favorite spots in Tokyo. Yes, very touristy but if you want iconic photos I'd argue this is THE spot for them. Lots of food and trinket vendors in the area and if you time it well, you may catch a local celebration which brings even more energy and food vendors to the area! As a bonus, you can purchase a range of blessings inside the temple. There are a range of Wonderful and historical items to view in this general area as well.

We went there at 8am as it is a stone away from our accommodation. It was raining that morning so maybe that is the reason why only a few tourists are there, and we pass by the stores that mostly close at that time. Lovely to see the intricate connection details, the big lantern, pagoda, and the main temple. After a short tour, we decided to buy some snacks that are filled with red beans and it was delicious. When we are heading outside the temple at 9am, we were greeted by the big influx of tourist.

The place was crowded but it was well worth it. Many stone carvings and statues around the grounds. There were lots of stands selling things or all types statues, mask, food and other souvenir worthy things. The temple itself was beautiful. A whole lotta red. You can pray or give thanks and they sell charms inside too.
Don Carrion — Google review
The temple buildings and grounds are beautiful. The architecture is stunning, grounds immaculate, and vibe amazing for Tokyo.
Coming from the main gate, you go through many vendors selling food, drinks, and souvenirs before you get to the temple itself. It's an extremely touristy in that area, and after early morning, it gets extremely busy and crowded. After you pass the crowds in the street market, it gets quieter so you can enjoy the temple itself more. So whether you go for the street vendor atmosphere or the temple itself, it's definitely worth a visit.

Visited before during the day in the past, felt like I was drifting in a sea of people, ha ha. This time I visited at night on a weekday and it was awesome; fewer people and the structures were far more vivid at night under both spotlight and moonlight.
Surrounded by markets and restaurants, cool place for a late night stroll. Pagoda was my favourite structure overall, seemed like fewer people were interested in it for some reason.

Sensoji is a very famous temple in Tokyo. Everyone knows this place. I often go to this place to shop at the shops around the temple or to take pictures with the beautiful scenery here. This place is always crowded with visitors especially on holidays. Many Japanese people come to pray at the shrine here. But for a foreigner like me, this place has become a favorite tourist spot in Tokyo.

This temple is a good start for new tourist to Japan. A long shopping street leading to the temple is nice for photos or souvenirs. sellers are nice, can speak English, offer Japanese stuff. The surrounding is full of restaurant and all kinds of Japanese food and desserts. Tourists are crowded in the front of the temple but getting inside will give you more air and better photos. You can also see Tokyo Tower from here.

One of the famous places must go in Tokyo, Japan. The shrine is crowded all the time; along the way to the main shrine, you will find souvenir shops where people shops for snacks and window shopping. Also, Japanese wears by travelers are also popular there. The shrine inside is less crowded and travelers are pay respect and meditation pray there for happiness and etc.

Very crowded and popular tourist attraction. I went on the weekend and I am sure it was much busier than on a weekday. I came by train and the station was very close and convenient and very crowded.
Many tourists were dressed in traditional Japanese kimonos which made the experience particularly nice. The temple itself is very beautiful. There were a lot of people burning incense which I assume has some religious significance. Also there are these boxes that have fortune telling papers. You shake a container and randomly pull a stick out of it which has a number which tells you which drawer to get your fortune.
The adjacent shopping area has a huge selection of shops selling traditional Japanese souvenirs and products. Also many restaurants offering primarily Japanese cuisine including Sushi restaurants.
This tourist attraction is well worth a visit for the ambience alone but also for shopping and eating.

It was my first time at this beautiful temple. I was super busy, lots of people came to visit and definitely could see why. There were lots of small shops and food stalls. When you made it to the temple it was stunning. There was also lots of shine and a beautiful little garden you can walk through. I would definitely recommend coming to see this temple. Five out of five

You guys probably already know that this is an amazing great tourist attraction to visit.
Even though the vendors are closed in the evening or at night, I recommend coming here at night as the shrine and temples are nicely lit and it is just different vibe compared to during the day. It is also less crowded for all the introverts who just want to enjoy a stroll.
If you come at night when the shops are closed, you can see the mural paintings depicting the festivities that occur in the shrine throughout time. It is pretty cool.
GANGIS — Google review
This beautiful temple is not just a cultural marvel but also a hub for local businesses.
Street like Food stalls to charming souvenir shops, it's a delightful marketplace.
Consider renting a kimono for an immersive experience.
We explored day and night; the crowd was manageable, and lines were short. The temple grounds are free, with stunning landscaping. While there's a fee for full temple access, the partial view is beautiful.
A must-visit iconic spot for tourists in Tokyo, blending tradition with commerce.

Beautifully constructed temple in Tokyo. Lots of shops are available on both sides of the lane in the temple.
It’s also called as Asakusa temple.
Night view is really awesome. During Sakura season it’s a delight to see the beauty.
It’s of the picturesque spots in Tokyo.
Every photographer in Tokyo will atleast have 50-100 pics of Sensoji temple.
It’s the first temple I visited in Tokyo. So I personally like this place.

Beautiful Buddhist temple, centrally located and easily accessible by public transport.
Get there early in the day for a less crowded experience, however before 10/10.30AM you’ll likely find most of the shops still closed.
You’ll find public restrooms and some food stalls. Food isn’t great but not bad either.

We came here ourselves and not with a tour group. This temple and the whole complex is bigger than we realised, and it was definitely worth coming to see and so remarkable. There were just far too many people at the main gate and along the main street leading to the main great.
With the benefit of hindsight, we should have come here early in the day, and not mid afternoon. Absolutely stunning and definitely worth seeing, but be prepared for all the people.

This place was bigger than I expected. We visited here on a National Holiday. It was crowded but we managed to move around easily. You can visit this place in 30 minutes or longer depending on the time you have. We spent about an hour here and I felt it was plenty of time. It's worth the visit, and there is no entry fee.

I love this place. It’s so relaxing and peaceful. There’s also many stores surrounding the temple where you can enjoy buying food, souvenirs, or just walking around. It remind me of a anime and feels unreal. We went late at night and there was still a lot of people and the surrounding of this temple have so much late lights restaurants. I love the atmosphere and highly recommend coming here.

Cool place, but it's a tourist trap. You need a paid guide to tell you where you can buy things at cheaper prices.
The gates and overall market is cool, but not alike any other "Chinese town" (obviously this is japanese) from anywhere. Well on that point, I wish we had "Japanese towns" everywhere.

The must visit place in Tokyo in my opinion. This whole area is worth spending a day in. A perfect mix of old, and new. You will be amazed at the age and beauty here. This is what I thought Japan would be like. It is a little crowded but everyone was so nice and helpful. Shops everywhere with awesome souvenirs at every price range. You are missing out if you don't go here. Enjoy and best wishes.

The temple is truly majestic! Its grand, solid architecture and vibrant colors stand out. Particularly famous for its colossal lanterns at the entrance, guiding visitors into the magnificent hall.
Surrounding the temple are numerous shops offering food and various trinkets. An enjoyable activity is dressing up in a Kimono and strolling toward the temple for picturesque moments. You'll find several excellent rental shops near the entrance.
Located just a 10-minute walk from the rail station, plan for 1-2 hours to explore the temple and its surroundings. If you're opting for the Kimono experience, allocate a generous 3-4 hours for a leisurely stroll. They also offer handwritten goshuin, making it a definite must-visit.

Very busy with lots of families. But honestly, it just gave off a lively experience. There are market shops and little food stalls along the main walkway. The temple is simply impressive. Beautiful architecture. I loved reading the signs about the history. Finding out that I had a “regular fortune” for ¥100 was honestly hilarious and nothing short of expected. Overall, it was a great experience and I definitely recommend.

Came in the morning and night, and was surprised at how different the vibes are. Hands down I liked night better as it’s more tranquil and more temple vibes compared to morning where there are so many tour groups even though we came at 9am. The temple looks nice when lit up too. Maybe it’s nicer if the sky is clear as we went on a cloudy day. See pictures for comparison. Can go there both morning and night to see the difference for yourself.

Tokyo Skytree is the world's tallest freestanding broadcasting tower, offering a 360-degree view from its observation deck. It provides stunning views of Tokyo Tower, Odaiba, and itself illuminated at night. Additionally, visitors can enjoy a dinner cruise along Sumida River with Japanese and Western-style dishes.
Tokyo Skytree is a must go place if you are visiting Tokyo! Really cool area lot of cool stuff to see and do around sky tree lots of gift shops and a mall too. The Skytree itself is awesome usually there is a little bit of a wait 30-60 minutes to go up but it is worth the wait. Maybe if you go on a weekday it might be better I’ve always gone on weekends. Very fun trip and thing to do. Awesome view of Tokyo and on a clear day Yokohama as well. Very awesome pictures and shows how big Tokyo really is which is very impressive, it seems like buildings keep going as far as you can see. Very cool definitely go to the top of you ever get a chance very fun and awesome views of Tokyo.

Great overall experience and I would place this above the Tokyo tower for many reasons. The line to get in does take a while, and can be a little tricky to find the start of, so plan to arrive at the general area a few minutes in advance. The views are great and there are countless spots to eat in and around the tower. It will take a little longer than you would like to leave the tower from either floor. The second floor was nice, but not much different from a view perspective than the first floor. You can easily spend a few hours in this area and I'd suggest planning on no less than 90 minutes.

We arrived here about an hour before our ticketed time and had early bird tickets and scan the code and went in, such an easy process. I had used the official Skytree website as the travel websites didn't have the right time slots available. The views at the first stop, 350m, were spectacular. And then we went up to 450m and wow! We got to see MT Fuji in the distance against the sunset.a lot of people crowding for photos but we managed to get a decent view and it was well worth it.

My visit to the Tokyo Skytree was nothing short of mesmerizing. Rising elegantly against the Tokyo skyline, it stands as a symbol of innovation and modernity.
During the day, the panoramic views from the observation decks were simply breathtaking. I could see Tokyo stretching out endlessly in every direction, with its maze of streets and towering buildings creating a vibrant tapestry below.
As night fell, the Skytree transformed into a dazzling spectacle of lights. The cityscape sparkled and shimmered, and I was captivated by the beauty of Tokyo illuminated against the dark sky. The Skytree itself was adorned with colorful lights, adding to the magical ambiance of the evening.
One of the highlights of my visit was staying in a nearby hotel, which offered unparalleled views of the Skytree. Witnessing its majestic presence both during the day and at night allowed me to appreciate its architectural brilliance from different perspectives.
Overall, my experience at the Tokyo Skytree was unforgettable. It's not just a towering structure but a symbol of Tokyo's dynamism and spirit. Whether day or night, the Skytree offers an enchanting glimpse into the heart of this bustling metropolis.

One of the tallest structures in the world.
You can go to two different platforms the higher one costing slightly more. I definitely recommend the combo ticket.
Waiting for the elevators was not too bad at 2:30 on a Thursday but would expect it to be incredibly busy at the weekends.
All the staff were friendly and helpful.
The shop had a number of souvenirs.
There is a cafe but this will need booking in advance.
Oh, and there is the view. On a good day you can see parts of Yokohama and if you are lucky, Mount Fuji is visible too.
Would recommend buying tickets in advance but you will need to specify a date and a time for your visit.
One of the best places to spend a couple of hours in Tokyo.

Tokyo Skytree is a must-visit attraction for anyone visiting Tokyo. Standing at 634 meters, it is the tallest tower in Japan and offers breathtaking views of the city from its two observation decks. The tower is located in Sumida, Tokyo and is easily accessible by train.
One of the highlights of my visit to Tokyo Skytree was watching the sunset from the observation deck. The 360-degree views of the city and its surroundings were truly stunning. I was also lucky enough to witness the rare phenomenon known as ‘Diamond Fuji’, where the sunset and sunrise align perfectly with the peak of Mount Fuji, creating a spectacular, jewel-like image.
Overall, I highly recommend a visit to Tokyo Skytree for its stunning views and unique experiences.

It was crowded, but the queue went fast until you get to the elevators to go upstairs. When you get up, it's very crowded. The food and drink is relatively expensive but also not too expensive. The view is phenomenal but it will be difficult to take photos of you. Unfortunately, I wasn't at the top because the tickets were all already sold out, so if you want to go to the top, book the tickets in advance, but even if you don't want to go to the top, I would recommend reserving the ticket!

Amazing views of the city at the top, it's worth buying both tickets for the 2 top floors.
Nice cafe at the top too selling corn dogs, I bought 3 for myself 😋, your ears start to pop the closer to the top as elevators are quick.
Massive shopping centre downstairs with a pokemon centre and other shops for traditional Japanese items, we also got a caricature done which was really fun and everything was reasonably priced.
Outside was a Christmas market with lots of warm food to try.
Smoking area outside.

As a tourist this was well worth the time and money. Amazing views of Tokyo/Yokohama. Can even faintly see Mount Fuji in the distance. Mind boggling that the city stretches from horizon to horizon. The structure itself is a marvel of modern architecture, with its sleek design and impressive height. The Skytree Town below also provided plenty of shopping and dining options, adding to the overall experience. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is that the queues can be quite long, especially during peak hours, but the views are definitely worth the wait. Visiting Tokyo Skytree was really fun and exciting, but also very busy. It’s a super tall tower in Tokyo that lots of people want to see. When I got there, I saw a long line of people waiting to buy tickets. But, I found out that buying tickets online is smarter because you don’t have to wait as long. You still have to get your tickets from a machine when you arrive, but it saves you about half an hour of standing in line.
The place was packed with people, but they have a good system for getting everyone up to the top. There are several elevators that take you up to where you can see the views. And wow, the views are amazing! You can see all over Tokyo from up there. There’s even a higher spot you can go to for even better views.
For those who like taking photos, this is a great place. You can get some really nice shots of the city. They also have a special elevator for people in wheelchairs, which is really thoughtful. Plus, there’s a place to grab some food and even a service where professionals can take your photo.
The only not-so-great part is how crowded it gets. But other than that, going to Tokyo Skytree is a lot of fun and something I think everyone should do if they visit Tokyo.

We got tickets online (same day) for just at dusk. It was perfect. While it was super busy, everything flows like a well oiled machine. The views were exceptional. It was really nice having snacks available at the top and an extensive souvenir shop downstairs. It was neat walking down a couple floors to a glass bottom floor and getting to see Tokyo underneath you. It was definitely worth the admission!

Highly recommend spending the 3100¥ on the combo ticket to go all the way up! The views are stunning! I recommend going before sunset ti get daytime views and watch the sun set in Mt. Fuji! Being able to see the other mountains were stunning backdrops to the vast Tokyo city!
There are maps in English and Japanese so you can join what areas you're looking on.
We paid using a machine with credit card the day of, no wait onna Friday afternoon. Plenty of bathrooms on each floor. There are 2 cafes, I recommend the one where you can have a seat and enjoy the view on the lowest floor before you exit.

It's was a good visit for weekend, it takes 3-4 hours to visit the top of sky tree. It's was very crowded and each times for using elevator need to spend minimum 20 minutes in line. If you visit it close to evening you can see a beautiful evening and also you can see the city on night mode with lots of lights.
Place is clean and beautiful. The price for adults is 3400 yen. The elevator speed is 600m per minute. It was good feeling use fast elevator.
Mehdi Sadeghian — Google review
An advice : don’t pay the extra price to go to the upper deck, it’s exactly the same view you get at the lower deck (only 50m difference), no difference at all except the price.
You have a nice 360° view of the city but that’s pretty much it, crowded with groups and kids running around.
For the price there is so much more interesting to do and see in Tokyo than this, save your money !!

For those seeking a stunning 360-degree perspective of Tokyo City up to Mount Fuji, Tokyo Skytree is the place to be, especially in a clear sky day. Just be aware that the attraction tends to draw a significant number of tourists, leading to notable crowds. The day I visited in Nov 2023 it was full with foreign tourists. So plan accordingly, as you may encounter extended queues and wait times during your visit.

Worth a visit on a clear day! We could easily buy tickets on klook and saved 200yen per adult and only bought the tickets just an hour before we went up. Kids had fun up there too! Need to buy tickets above the age of 6.
Efficient and no lines at the entrance. You can buy at the door immediately even at 6pm (weekday)
Stunning view at night. We didn't try during the day. We paid extra to go higher to 450m. It's not a must
The view was good enough from the 350m actually. Possibly better? There is a little cafe and toilet facilities on each floor. Although it was busy at the top, it didn't affect the view at all. Don't miss the area where we can stand on the glass floor. Souvenir shop is cute too!

Visiting Tokyo Skytree was an absolute delight! Compared to Tokyo Tower, I found Tokyo Skytree to be superior in terms of both view and facilities. However, Tokyo Tower has its own unique charm that shouldn't be overlooked.

There are many Skytree and Towers across the Japan. This one is one of them. We visited around late afternoon. It was still crowded due to Weekend. There is almost nil waiting despite of heavy crowd. We didn’t go all the way top and took the tickets for 65th floor, reached there in super quick elevator. Very well management, you can enjoy the beautiful view of the city, you can also enjoy night view since it gets dark early during the winter. We enjoyed the sunset and Fuji San view from the top. Good experience.

Typical tourist attraction. You can really see how big Tokyo is from the observation deck. I like that the 4 elevators are decorated for each season. Purchased same day tickets for the last available time 7:30 p.m. or 19:30 p.m. and it was packed. Plus it was super hot in there because of the amount of people. Only had about 30 seconds on the glass floor.

Visited the Tokyo Skytree as part of a package tour organized by Japan Panoramic Tours. The best part of the tour was that we could go straight up without any wait, when there were endless long queue otherwise. If you are visiting independently be prepared to wait in queue 1 to 2 hours. Visited the Tembo deck floor 350 meter, then 345 and 340, which has the glass floor. There are a lot of restaurants and shopping options at the Skytree. The 360 degree view of the Tokyo city was nice. I guess it would be better in the evenings to see the city lights. But if someone is not able to visit it, don't worry, you are not missing much.

Missed out on the skytree on my last visit so super happy I made it this time.
Booked tickets online and staff were great at navigating so many people while remaining friendly and professional.

It is a magnificent structure. The elevators are very fast so get ready to feel the pressure in your ears. It is very well organised when you enter and the queue goes relatively fast despite all the crowds. You will have 360 degrees view of greater Tokyo are. The views are breathtaking. There is a restaurant up top. We had lunch there but you need a prior reservation. There is a cafe as well without any need to reserve. I recommend going up there

You need to get tickets for this beforehand or you will be waiting around. There is plenty to do while you wait, if you are into shopping around. It is difficult to get good pictures or videos because of all of the window panes and not being able to get right up against the glass in a lot of places. There are tons of people here. Still worth it to go up to the 450 m.

There are parks, walking trails, and cycling roads, making it a great place to spend your holidays or walk your dog.

The pedestrian and bicycle roads are well-paved and separated by white lines, making it very easy to ride.
There are often places on cycling roads where you can't cycle because there are so many pedestrians and marathon runners, but Teganuma is divided into sections, so this rarely happens.
You can cycle with peace of mind.

Ushiku Daibutsu is a 120-meter-tall bronze statue of Amitabha Buddha located in Ibaraki prefecture, Japan. Visitors can take an elevator to an observation floor embedded in the Buddha's chest, offering panoramic views of the countryside. Inside the statue, there are opportunities to practice calligraphy, see 3,000 golden Buddhas, and have shrine books signed. The surrounding area is beautifully maintained with a park for picnics and leisurely strolls.
One of the most beautiful places I have been in Japan. The tallest Buddha which is of 121m tall and it’s also in the Guiness world records. Very calm place which has a beautiful Japanese garden with a small pond with many ducks.
If we purchase a 800yen ticket, we get to see the entire place. Especially inside the Buddha statue there will be 4 floors where there is an observatory deck too.
One needs to check the frequency of buses from Ushiku station if you are taking public transportation.

120m tall Buddha is the main attraction. The buddha is very calm and one cant take eyes off from him! There is an observation desk inside buddha at 85m, some other galleries and souvenir shop. It is surrounded by beautiful Japanese style garden and offers flower beds based on the season. It also has small shopping area where you can buy local stuffs and souvenirs. Definitely a must go!

I went there for the first time.
With a height of 120m, it is registered in the Guinness Book of Records as the tallest in the world.
It is very powerful because you can see the big Buddha on the way to near.
You can put it inside and take the elevator up to a height of 85m. In addition, the admission fee is cheap at 800 yen, and you can appreciate the garden and hydrangeas, which is really cheap and very satisfying.
Also, I was able to see the monkey show, which was really fun.

This Majestic statue has an elevator that brings visitors up 85 m (279 ft) to an observation floor . Visitors can even view Mt Fuji from this observatory platform if the weather is clear. As you follow the path leading to Uchiko Daitbutsu, you will also be attracted by the seasonal bloom, and this summer, we are seeing some lavender blooming along with other species such as sunflowers & fire forest. Plan your schedule or drive to Uchiko if possible as the waiting time for the public transport can be quite long. Tickets payment in cash only,

The Buddha statue with a height of 120 meters is very amazing with beautiful views around it.
And I also went inside and went up to the 5th floor.
Inside there are also lots of Buddha statues on the walls.
From the 5th floor you can see the surroundings from above.
Maybe if it comes in spring there will be lots of cherry blossoms there

While some reviews mention a negative atmosphere or vibe, my wife and I didn't feel that way and really enjoyed our visit. We went on 10 April 2024 and the cherry blossoms were in full bloom as well as the beautiful bright pink flowers surrounding the pond that represents the pool of life.
The statue itself is very impressive...almost awe-inspiring...as you get closer you can look up and realize just how massive it is. The park and Japanese garden are also very enjoyable to walk through and explore. If I had planned better I would have brought a blanket for a picnic!

Very cool buddha. It's worth the trip! He is huge and you can go inside and about half way up in an elevator. Make sure it's included when you buy your ticket though. They have some nice flowers around the pond depending on the time of year. The big pond however needs some fish or something...it's nothing special. They also have picnic tables, to enjoy food while looking at buddha. A few shops are located at the entrance with souvineirs and sweets.

Went on weekends. In the season of hydrangeas, the garden in front of the Great Buddha was in full bloom.
There is an admission fee, but if you are visiting for the first time, we definitely recommend purchasing a ticket that allows you to go inside the Great Buddha.
The inside of the Great Buddha is a temple, and it is said that monks read sutras every day. There is also a red stamp, but since it is only inside the Great Buddha, you can not get a red stamp unless you have a ticket to enter inside.
The inside of the Great Buddha will be carefully explained by the guide. The inside is 5 stories high, which is equivalent to the 28th floor of a building. It is said that the direction facing the Great Buddha is India, the birthplace.
There were also amulets, prayer beads, and stamp books inside the Great Buddha.
On the way, there is a place where you can go outside, and you can look up from your feet on the pedestal of the Great Buddha.
Even my companion, who wasn't really interested in that sort of thing, had a lot of fun! ! As I said, it was a recommended spot to visit once!

Went to visit this massive Buddha in Ibaraki and the size was quite breathtaking . Interesting to be able to go up to the inside of the Buddha and observe outwards but sadly limited photography or window view.
The place was nice but quite sparse public transport towards it , roughly one every hour. Would drive up if passing by.

One of the highly recommended place to visit in japan. It’s the tallest statue of Lord Buddha and it’s taller than Statue of Liberty. You can buy ticket and visit inside the statue. You can buy souvenirs and you can get fortune from here. The atmosphere is very quiet and has positive vibe. The surrounding area covered with cherry blossoms 🌸 so it has the most beautiful view in spring season.

The Ushiku Daibutsu is the world's largest 120 meter bronze Buddha statue. The statue is surrounded by a flower garden and you can go to the top floor when enter and use the elevator. In the garden patio there is also a monkey stage and show that you can watch for free after you finish your time exploring the statue. This is the largest bronze Buddha statue in the world. While you can see the Daibutsu from the parking lot, in order to see it head on and get close to it, you’ll need to purchase an entrance ticket. You can choose a ticket just for the grounds, or to go inside the Daibutsu. Depending on the time of year you visit, it seems like it can take a few hours to get to the museums and temple inside. During Golden Week, the line waiting to get inside was well over an hour long. One of the goshuin is only available from the 2nd floor of the Daibutsu.
The seasonal flowers planted across the park were beautiful and made for great photo opportunities. I imagine when it's less crowded this would be a very peaceful place to come and relax.
However, it is important to be respectful of the space. The park has signs and warnings about picnicking and camping out with food since this is a holy pilgrimage spot.

It's so big that you can't help but laugh when you see it up close. Total length 120m. Exactly "Great Buddha".
…By the way, this is the Amida Buddha of Namu Amida Butsu, so it seems to be correct to call it “Ushiku Amida Daibutsu”.
In any case, since it is a religious facility that gathers people's faith, there are no tall buildings that can get in the way, and the garden is beautifully maintained, and each facility is carefully maintained. I feel so good.
Once you enter the womb of the Great Buddha, you can take the elevator up to a height of 85m, which is also attractive as you can climb up to the height of the Great Buddha's chest.
However, due to the nature of Buddhist statues, it is not possible to install large windows, so it is not possible to fully enjoy the scenery. So I honestly don't think it's suitable for people who expect a view.
Nonetheless, there is a spacious sutra-copying place with an atmosphere and a space where thousands of golden Buddha statues are lined up.
By the way, there are no leisure-related facilities for children, both inside and outside the premises, so be careful if you are with children.

Very peaceful and nice, recommend to buy tickets (additional 300¥ ) to go inside the statue where you can go up till the heart region of the Buddha statue through elevator (5th floor) but you can board it from second floor. To come down you need to walk down steps till 4th floor. It was crazy hot on the Saturday afternoon outside but inside was having cooling. One lady had heatstroke so car plenty of water and UV/Sun blocking umbrellas. There are a lot of souvenir shops inside and a room full of small Buddha statues and one meditation room. The koi fish pond and gardens around the statue is so peaceful and well kept. We had a blissful time apart from the scorching heat.

Definitely worth visiting and a really good experience if you have time in Ibaraki! It was only about 500¥ or so for entry and ride up inside the Buddha. Very friendly staff and easy to navigate around the huge park.
There was also a section where you could feed koi fish and ducks. As well as a place to watch an animal show and petting zoo.
There were food and drink options along with gift shops at the main entrance of the park.
Inside of the Buddha consisted of a multi level and highly clean/ detailed museum.

My family and I visit Ushiku Daibutsu, One of the three largest Buddha statues in the world. There is plenty of parking lots available. We walk through shopping stores, buy tickets and walk inside and high up the statue. We really enjoy exhibitions on the first and second levels. We take elevator to the observation floor. We check out surrounding sceneries. They said, on clear weather, we can see as far as Mt. Fuji and Tokyo Skytree, of course not today.
Tokyo Disneyland is a popular theme park featuring thrilling rides, live entertainment, and beloved characters. In addition to the park, visitors can explore nearby attractions such as the Tsukiji and Toyosu fish markets and Odaiba, an artificial island with various activities including shopping malls and the famous Gundam Statue. One of the standout rides at Tokyo Disneyland is a unique take on the Indiana Jones adventure, offering a similar exhilarating experience with some new twists in its storyline and show elements.

I went as a solo traveler and have never been to any Disney Park previously, so my experience is very unbiased and tailored towards other solo travelers as the experience would definitely be different with family and/or friends.
The atmosphere and park layout were great! The queues weren't too long, granted I did go on a Tuesday. There are plenty of water fountains and vending machines around if you get thirsty, as well as many food places too.
The rides (as a solo adult male) were only okay in my opinion though. There was really only one or two exciting rides and they were average. My favourite ride was surprisingly the Star Wars one, that had you immersed even in the queue and the mini space experience was memorable.
The staff are probably the friendliest staff I have ever encounter in my life. Every single one of them were enthusiastic and smiling constantly.
The price was more than reasonable for entry to the park, as well as the cost of food and vending machines.
As a solo traveler, I give it 4 stars thanks to the excellent effort of the staff and the atmosphere they've created, as well as the value of cost. It loses 1 star due to the lack of any exciting or memorable rides.
All of that being said, this park seems like a fantastic place to take your kids. There looked to be a ton of rides for children, which I guess is who the park is aimed at.

We went in late March when it was raining a lot and the park doesn't provide much cover when getting around. I also got there around 7am on a Friday and it was already very busy even with the rain.
The rides where fantastic and the food was delicious though so it made up for it. It's really easy to get to by train and all the staff were so nice and helpful, it really made the experience more enjoyable.

It's Tokyo Disneyland what more is there to say! Great atmosphere and entertainment for the entire family. You will feel like a kid inside and have a blast. Experience the nostalgia of seeing familiar themes and characters.
Things to be mindful of, check the schedule for events at such as the light show or fireworks. Look for updates of rides or themes that may be down due maintenance or renovations. Depending on the time of year bring blankets, umbrellas or a pair of sunglasses. Express passes are available for purchase for those who want to experience more of the theme park at a more reasonable time. (If you have electronic media devices I advise using them while you are waiting line, or have a friendly conversation with those around you who also came to visit, there are likely just as friendly and excited to be there. People from all around the world visit this theme park!) Parking is fair and decent considering that most people use the public railways to reach the theme park. So vehicle traffic is actually quite minimal at least when I visited on a Tuesday 😅)
Food at the theme park is decent nothing ground breaking but satisfying. The souvenir shops are one of the best places to visit. Budget accordingly and have a great time with either your friends or family. Take pictures and save memories that will last. You will enjoy your visit *Guaranteed 😊 (in my opinion)

A fun attraction that is a must do if in Tokyo. The lines were not very long during this time of year but was still fairly busy. Small theme park compared to the states, but still worth the visit. If you stay at the resort hotels, it is easy to get to and from the parks with the monorail system, very convenient. It is also easily accessible via train if staying off site. Lots of places to eat.

My recent visit to Tokyo Disneyland during the New Year was nothing short of magical. The park, adorned with festive decorations, truly captured the spirit of the season, making it a perfect destination to ring in the New Year.
One of the most remarkable aspects of Tokyo Disneyland is the exceptional service provided by the staff. Every staff member I encountered was not only friendly but also went out of their way to ensure that each guest had a memorable experience. Their attention to detail and dedication to guest satisfaction is commendable and added significantly to the overall enjoyment of my visit.
The New Year celebrations at Tokyo Disneyland are a unique blend of traditional Japanese customs and Disney magic. The special events and shows put together for the occasion were fantastic, with vibrant performances and stunning fireworks that lit up the night sky, creating an enchanting atmosphere.
Additionally, the rides and attractions were as enjoyable as ever, with each one meticulously maintained and operated. The cleanliness and organization throughout the park were impressive, even with the large holiday crowds.
The variety and quality of food available were also noteworthy, with a range of options catering to different tastes and preferences.
Overall, Tokyo Disneyland during the New Year is an experience I would highly recommend. The combination of friendly staff, festive atmosphere, thrilling rides, and cultural celebrations makes it a must-visit destination.

Amazing place that is worth the long flight from wherever in the world you've come from.
You have to buy tickets online then scan your QR code at the gate. Can get very busy and some rides were up to 90 mins wait. Takes a while to get food as well. However the staff are brilliant and you name it, they've thought of it.
The place will well exceed your expectations and is literally the happiest place on earth. Enjoy.

Super enjoyable theme park, different spin on the classic Disney encountered in the us but very fun and exciting. Very impressed with the new beauty and the beast ride, such great decor and generally a fun experience. We used the priority pass a few times, which made waiting for the big queues very manageable but it was a little on the expensive side for it to be charged as a per person per ride cost. The park was very quiet on the weekday versus the weekend, almost a night and day difference. Overall, a great Disney park.

No matter how early you come, there will be a line to do something. The entry line was something I have not experienced since Aftershock Festival in Sacramento. After security it is pretty much smooth sailing through ticket check. Then you are at the mercy of the queues for rides. Food is good, popcorn is better. There is beer available and plenty of souvenirs. Rated a four due to length of queues for rides.

It was a great experience for sure! The line going in was long which is to be expected for any Disney park you go to in the world. The food was reasonably priced and very good! I only wanted to visit to experience the Beauty and The Beast ride. We queued for 3.5+ hours, which almost broke me (on tired and swollen ankles from flying), with no places to sit/rest in the queue. The ride itself is a solid 5 magical stars, and I become quite emotional in the ballroom at the end as it was so enchanting. Didn't want to do anything else as the queues were endless - even for popcorn. Grabbed some food and some gifts and left.

It was amazing to finally get to go to a Disney park as I had never been before. While it was all pretty magical, it was chaotic in terms of how many people were there with up to 2 hours waiting for any of the non-reserved restaurants (with the reserved ones being booked well before the day). Not a lot of choice for Mickey Ears, but every type you could imagine for Minnie. Didn't go on any rides, even with priority access there was over an hour wait per ride in the harsh sun. Snack foods from the stalls we lined up at were super cute and tasty!

Prepare to wait in line for pretty much everything 😅 Plus, all the parades and the fireworks were cancelled due to the weather. However, I can understand this because it was a pretty windy day.
I do feel like they let way too many people in. It ruins the fun especially as you pay a lot to get in just to spend half the day waiting in line.
I highly recommend booking restaurants, attractions and anything else you can reserve!

Incredible place! Make sure you get there up to and hour before opening as everyone is queuing before. Once the queue gets going it’s quick.
Secondly be prepared to buy fast passes unless you want to wait 100-200 minutes to get on a ride.
The was passes were 1500 yen per person per ride. You need to do this as soon as you get in the park. There is also a time delay until you can buy another one.
At the time we went there was some 40 year priority pass which was free to book per ride but had a 120 minute wait before you could book another one.
Between those two things we managed to book 4 main rides whilst waiting for the smaller less busy rides 30-40 minute waits.
If you don’t do that you will wait the 100-200 minutes as from the first minute it opens until close the times do not change much.

From the moment we stepped foot into the park, we were transported to a world of enchantment and excitement. The attention to detail, the vibrant colors, and the whimsical atmosphere made us feel like we were living in a fairytale.
But it wasn't just about the rides and attractions – although they were absolutely incredible. It was the smiles on everyone's faces, the laughter echoing through the streets, and the sense of pure joy that filled the air. It's the kind of place where you can't help but feel like a kid again, no matter how old you are.
And let's not forget about the food! From delicious Mickey-shaped treats to mouthwatering snacks from around the world, every bite was a culinary adventure in itself.
Overall, Tokyo Disney exceeded all our expectations and then some. It's a place where dreams come true, memories are made, and the magic never fades. If you ever find yourself in Tokyo, do yourself a favor and experience the wonder of Tokyo Disney – you won't regret it! 🏰✨

Tokyo Disneyland is a fantastic destination, especially during New Year's. Despite its close proximity (just 90 minutes from home), we opted to visit early and stay until night, creating a magical experience. The park was bustling with crowds, and we had to utilize lockers (900 yen/24hrs) for our large bags located a bit far from the main entrance. With a 5-year-old in tow, navigating the various attractions proved challenging due to varying wait times (ranging from 180 to 30 minutes). Despite this, the evening electrical parade left us with unforgettable memories. Tokyo Disneyland is a must-visit, offering a unique and enchanting experience for families.

It’s a great Disney park with loads to do. With the 40th anniversary fast passes, I managed to do 10 rides. The wait times were usually pretty okay and most restaurants weren’t as busy so you had no wait.
The one thing that bothered me was the opening time. It’s advertised to open at 8am, by 8:45am thousands of people were cramped between security screening and entry gates. No communication what’s happening until suddenly the tv screens show they open at 9am, however at the same time, the gates open on the west side and visitors are let through, while the people waiting on the east gates had to wait until 9am.

Cute, fun place for all ages but definitely has more appeals for couples and families. The app is actually pretty good as it shows live wait times at each ride and location of each ride/show. Also let's you book in timed entries and pay for premier/express access.
The popular rides have long wait times throughout the day, so it may be worth paying for premier access (around 1500 yen per ride) if you're keen to save time.
Not the place to come for rollercoasters, but perfect if you enjoy seeing the characters and themed areas.

I think the location is good because it's right next to the Ami Higashi Interchange on the Ken-O Expressway.
There was a covered parking area. It was sunny that day, but I think shopping would be easier on a rainy day. (However, the magnification seems to be high on that day.)
Strollers can be rented for a fee, making it ideal for families with children.
In the evening, the illuminations are sparkling. It was very good.
It was my first time here, and although there were many shops, it was small and I didn't have to walk many steps, so I didn't get tired easily.
The Ushiku Daibutsu was shining in the setting sun and looked very nice.

I don't usually go to outlets and malls because I don't like being crowded, but I asked about it as a touring destination from Saitama. You can enter the parking lot, but the food court opens at 10:00. Many other specialty restaurants open at 11:00. Ueshima Coffee, Tully's Coffee, and bagel shops are available from 9:30.Access In addition to being directly connected to the Ken-O Expressway Ami-Higashi Exit, there is a signboard from National Route 125 and 408 to Prefectural Route 34, so it is famous. I think it would be a good idea to go to Lake Kasumigaura and Choshi. The towering Ushiku Daibutsu is impressive.
The food court has Sanuki udon, ramen, rice bowls, Korean cuisine, silver octopus, and more.

Every time some sales are going on and mainly on a big holiday like Golden Week, Summer Holliday, Black Friday and Christmas to New Year’s week, clothes are cheaper than on other days.
Mainly GAP and Addidas stores always offer very good reasonable prices 👍🤟, you must visit and you can find other stores too.

Tokyo DisneySea is a unique and captivating theme park located at the Tokyo Disney Resort. Opened in 2001, it boasts a nautical theme with seven distinct areas or "ports of call," each featuring rides, attractions, and entertainment based on beloved Disney characters and stories. Unlike other Disney parks, this one offers a more adult-oriented experience with its themed ports inspired by real places and ocean legends.
It’s an awesome amusement park and is really big as well. There are many fun attractions for all ages. I suggest booking a ticket in advance as there are limits to how many people can enter Disney sea because of the Covid-19 pandemic. I wasn’t able to ride some rides because I couldn’t get the standby passes in time, but it was still very fun and enjoyable.

Incredible experience, we went in December for Christmas time, it was just AWESOME!!!!
Disney staff were super nice and friendly and they were always there for questions or directions.
Rides were a bit fast with lines reaching 85min, but still great experience. A bit of an issue with the Disney app, wouldn't connect to register for shows or food reservations, dissatisfied with the app. You have to be on site to reserve anything as well!
Food everywhere we went was great and staff again were awesome!!!
Such an awesome experience for our family and my wife's birthday!

It’s so beautiful! The monorail is not free and you must have yen. We were able to walk from our hotel anyway. The park is gorgeous. Before opening the crowds were very large, but by 1pm people were able to walk straight into the park. The lines are 30-90 minutes as we expected but there are 40th anniversary passes you can use like fast passes for some rides for free or you can pay to bypass specific lines. We just loved walking around. The shops are not as luxurious as the shops in Orlando.

The best!! Our second visit and just as impressive as the first time. DisneySea has lots of rides but every single thing in the park is themed so even when not on the rides there is a lot to see and do! Use the app to book your fast pass options, it’s well worth it. The app also shows current wait times for each ride. We went on a Wednesday and could tell it wasn’t too busy compared to what it can be, but it was still really great to not have to queue. There was a wonderful firework/lights show at 7:30pm, so worth staying for that. You can spend the whole day here easily, it’s an awesome park!

Most things, such as fast passes and restaurant reservations, are managed through the app. The food at the restaurant was a little pricey, but it was delicious! It was my first time here, and I was especially impressed by the Soarin' and fireworks. DisneySea in Japan - A Magical Journey into Fairy Tale World
DisneySea in Japan is not just an amusement park, it's a magical journey into the world of fairy tales and unforgettable adventures. My experience here felt like stepping into a vibrant, enchanting realm.
One striking aspect of DisneySea is its vastness. The park is uniquely designed with themed areas inspired by destinations worldwide, from Venice to New York, from Atlantis to Arabia. Every corner, every detail is meticulously crafted, creating a lively and captivating space.
A tip I'd like to share is about shopping at DisneySea. If you're looking to buy decorative items like hats or headbands, I recommend purchasing them before entering the park. Prices at the shops inside the park are often higher, and the selection may not be as extensive. Moreover, if you want to save time and money, avoid buying right at the entrance area and explore shops deeper inside the park where you'll find more choices at reasonable prices.
DisneySea isn't just for kids; it's a delightful destination for families and adults alike. The shows, fireworks, and entertainment options will keep you enchanted from morning till night. Don't forget to indulge in the delicious and diverse cuisine from around the world at the park's restaurants and cafes.

An awesome amusement park! Disney application provides arrangement for entrance of popular attractions. Foods and snacks were good and had so fun features.
Disney Sea includes some waterside parade and water-attractions. So different experience. FYI, due to Covid, it has limited number of visitors a day.
Kylie Jang — Google review
For me, this is the best Disney Park in the world. It is so different from any other Disney Park that I have visited (Florida/Paris/Shanghai).
We visited in December between Christmas and New Year on a week day and found the park to be busy. We arrived early but ride lines exceeded 2 hours for some attractions and stayed at around 60-90 minutes through out the day for Tower of Terror, Journey to the Centre of the Earth, Soarin and Toy Story.
The park is great for rides. My personal favourites are Journey to the Centre of the Earth, Indiana Jones and the Tokyo version of Tower of Terror which tells a totally different story to the other versions.
Food is generally quite cheap and there is a good selection throughout the park.
The evening show on the lake gets very busy so if you want a good spot, you will need to find it at least an hour before.
It is also worth noting that the traditional fast pass system is no longer in operation at either of the Tokyo Parks with a new pay-per-ride system on the app. You can only activate this part of the app once you are inside the park. A fast pass will cost between 1,500 and 2,000 yen per person depending on the attraction. But could save you up to 3 hours in some cases on busy days.
Thomas Watts — Google review
The staff was friendly and efficient.
We ate lunch and dinner. Some of the restaurants only accept reservations and those fill up quickly so be forewarned.
My favorite ride was Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom ride. The wait times for the most popular rides topped out at 120 minutes. That's insane. So we found other rides. The longest wait time in line we could tolerate was 60 minutes.
Nghiem Nguyen — Google review
An absolutely magical day of experience. At a little over 8000 yen per ticket for an entire day of fun, it is worth the price over and over again.
Each themed area is beautifully crafted and full of photo zones. The rides are fun (although not as exciting or intense for thrill seekers), plenty of affordable food options and cheerful staff will make this a day to remember.
The night show, Believe! Sea of Dreams, alone makes this visit a success. It was a touching performance and yes, you should set up camp about an hour before the show to get a good viewing spot.
I truly believe this is one of the very best theme parks in the world. Please be sure to set a day aside for it!
Sukmin Nam — Google review
The rides at Tokyo Disney Sea are on a whole other level. They are not only fun and thrilling but tell a story so beautifully. The areas where you are waiting in line have an insane amount of detail and thought to them. It makes the long wait times not as bad. I did go on a weekday off season (spring) and the wait times were about 15 minutes to 1 hour per ride. We did use the app to keep track of wait times too and it really helped. The interactive photos/videos and projections before the rides were so magical.
We also visited when it was their 40th anniversary so they had a nice show. Their fireworks/light show at the end was also a must see. We bought tickets to be able to sit closer to the front as well which I think was worth it.
Myla Fernandez — Google review
It's a great place for enjoyment and to bring back the kids in you. Before visiting, get a good idea about the place and rides so that you can move fast and cover most places. You can download the official app, which will help you move around easily. Try to arrive early, before the gate opens. We visited on Monday, and even then, we had to wait 80 to 140 minutes to enter each ride. If you can purchase the premier access pass or fast pass, then you can access the rides pretty quickly, but it's expensive. Don't forget to enjoy the evening light show and fireworks.

This theme park is just so beautiful and awesome!
I arrived around 12 and didn't manage to get the entry for attractions that require entry request but I still enjoyed my visit a lot.
Magic Lamp Theatre in Arabian Coast is a live magic show combined with 3d film, it's is so amusing, I like! I rode Jumpin' Jellyfish, visited Ariel Playground, etc. I didn't ride the scary roller coasters, so I'd like to visit again. Oh yes, I enjoyed the gondola ride so much.
Sitti Rasuna W. (Una) — Google review
The park was really interesting and we really enjoyed ourselves. I was on the fence about going, but I'm glad we went. They have some unique rides that the other Disney Parks don't have. Their "castle" is really amazing to look at. My concern was the wait times. We went during low tourism and even then, the wait times were all over an hour for each ride. Fast Passes were not in service. That said, we were able to ride almost everything we wanted. The only one we unfortunately had to miss was Toy Story as it had a 2 hour wait time.
For vegetarians visiting, they had a few options for food. I recommend the vegetarian curry in the Aladdin area.
I read this place was geared more towards adults than children. I disagree with that. There is plenty to do for all ages, and there are many rides specifically for little ones.
Brenna Goldie — Google review
It was a great experience. An umbrella for shade during the summer months would be good. I came with my teenagers who like the big rides, these can be done in one day. We did 2 days but wish we had done 1 day. The park is very well attended, clean and friendly. Plenty of food to choose from, highly recommend checking the snack shacks as they each have a different snack which were good.
They gave thought to most lines being in the shade. Indoor kid area to cool off in the summer months. The rail was simple to use and get to the park.
Buying the park tickets from the US is not easy to do. I wasn’t able to buy from the Disney site but buying from klook worked perfect!

DisneySea offers a brand new park to enjoy that unique to only Japan. The theme here is very western Europe based. The ride selection isn't extensive but has enough to keep you occupied for most of the day. The food choices are plentiful so you can really spend the day munching away on some awesome cuisine options.

Oh boy, what can I say about Tokyo DisneySea that hasn't been said. I wouldn't consider myself a huge Disney fan by any means, but I think that's why it's easier to enjoy DisneySea. The park doesn't constantly throw Disney reference at you! You get to experience how amazing the immersion of Disney does without the random reference to throw you off. I went here with my significant other plus two friends, and we had a great time. The park does have an app that allows for fast tracking your way to certain rides, but on the day that I went, we actually didn't have to wait that long for any rides. The food was delicious. We had gotten food at two restaurants and hit up many snacks stands for popcorn and churros. I would recommend the curry and garlic shrimp flavor popcorn for savory lovers out there! They have many gift shops with tons of unique designs and merchandise to buy. It's currently the 40-year anniversary, so they have a ton of items revolving around that. There's loads of things to do, we came to the park almost when they opened and left after the fireworks and still didn't see the entire park! The entire park wasn't crowded until the end when we started to buy merchandise. I would recommend going earlier for those if you want to grab things because it'll be like sardines in a can in every shop! The shows and attractions are spoken in Japanese, but they do have a few lore and story bits written in English sprinkled throughout the park. Overall amazing experience, and I would definitely go again.

Happiest place on earth!
Disney just got it right here!
So much detail in every corner!
The rides aren’t the most hair raising or scary but they are done very very well.
The food is great and the atmosphere is so very Disney.
It’s only downside as with pretty much everything in Japan are the line ups to the rides. You can help that but getting various fast pass type tickets at an extra cost.
Overall….Well done Disney👌👌

Don't waste your money and time for queue if you are thinking of visiting this place during Japan holidays or peak season. You are just eventually paying tickets to queue. Go back sleep better. Their staffs were all fake smiling like wear a mask. All the rides are not thrilling at all. We are so disappointed and not worth the waited, these ride feels like they are mainly catered for kids, cannot be compare to universal studio rides.

Loved it. We received a warm welcome at every turn and I received wonderful customer service at the grill restaurant near Raging Spirits ride. I was alone with a toddler that needed to use the restroom right after getting all of our food. I found a staff member and he assured me he’d stay at our table to make sure our food wouldn’t be cleaned up — such a lifesaver!
Enjoyed the look and feel of the park. Kinda strange to be in Italy in Japan but kinda see the connection of the sea theme?
Was super pleased with our entire day — it wasn’t too crowded and we were leisurely able to fit in a handful of rides, eat some wonderful snacks including curry popcorn and a mango churro sundae dessert (both of which I highly recommend!), and fit in a night show within 8 hours. We will call the day a success!

Funabashi Andersen Park is a sprawling 40-hectare theme park in Japan, inspired by the fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen. The park offers various outdoor activities across five different areas, including playgrounds, obstacle courses, a petting zoo, pony rides, creative workshops, and a water park in the summer. Visitors can explore replicas of Danish windmills and farmhouses while strolling through photogenic flower gardens and enjoying boat rides on the pond.
This place has “no age boundary”. Both children & those going to their second childhood would definitely enjoy this place. One day is not enough especially if you go with kids. Nice scenery & ambiance for elderly and also a good place to go on a date with your special someone especially if your on a budget. Bringing food & drinks are allowed. An amazing park for the family with many locations in the park. We have a year membership there. Lots of flowers, nature, and workshop options. They also have exhibitions there… nice picnic area! My kids love the park section! Definitely recommended!

Honestly, I didn't know what to expect when going. But, it was fantastic for families. Go if you want to catch beetles. They have sooooo many types if you look out for them. They had rhinoceros, stag, shiny greed gold ones, black with spots, etc. Lots of climbing courses for kids. A super long roller slide even parents can go down. But, be careful don't go down unprepared unless you want to get a burn on your butt or back. Lots of other slides and a generous playground area
There is also water play area so bring swimsuits or extra clothes. The water is only a couple feet and there are lifeguards so a great place to play. There is also a place to hose off after. There are also multipurpose bikes, boats, and crafts. Overall it is a great place but, go early if you want to catch beetles and people tend to bring tents or spot hog benches and tables even when not using them. Be careful that the ant hill is not under your bench or table. Lastly, there weren't many mosquitoes outside when I went in July but, saw them in the restrooms.

I went on the last day of the 3-day weekend, which was expected to be the busiest in July.
I thought that if I had to get stuck in a traffic jam to enter the garage, I arrived after 8:30.
The garage was already open and I was able to park the car in the shade.
After a while, a line started to form before the park opened. (However, just advance to the front of the main area)
The park finally opens at 9:30.
Everyone rushed to set up their tents in the shade.
Several benches were popular and soon filled up.
Play in the water now.
There are many people, but there is no such thing as washing potatoes
The water depth is about below the knees of an adult, so
You can play with relative peace of mind.
However, since it is wide, it is difficult to watch over children from the shore, so I think adults should wear clothes that they don't mind getting wet.
(It doesn't have to be a swimsuit, but it can be rolled up or like shorts.)
There is a lot of shade, but if the sun is strong, there is no place to block the middle of the water, so a hat is essential.
Many children bring floats and water guns, but if you forget them, you can buy them at the shop next to the water playground.
There is also athletics, and my family said "I want to do athletics", so
I thought it would be safer for children to have not only sandals but also shoes.

One of the best parks I've ever seen in Japan. Perfect for all ages. Splash area with small beach and stream, several slides including a giant japanese roller slide, jumping balls, animals, train ride and several vending machines and toilets (the only disappointing part as they were a bit dirty as it was a busy summer day). The shop inside sells toys, snacks and drinks and they accept credit cards which is a novelty in Japan. There are plenty more things to do which we didn't have the time. So definitely coming back as the entrance fee is also very reasonable. Tents are welcome.

Nice park with multiple activities, especially for kids. 900 yen adult entry. Parking 500 yen per one park per day irrespective of time. Picnic baskets welcome. Some food stalls. Nice long obstacle course. Animal petting zoo with the option of miniature pony ride. Hot dogs 550 yen each.

You can bring tent or picnic sheets and obento.there's also a boat you can experience and restaurants.the place is so beautiful you would want to come again.

Went there twice. Kids was so happy enjoying the jungle “gym”. They love the long slides and jumping on the balls. They also did craft making candles. The flowers was beautiful.. Too bad we didn’t ride the boat on the lake. The line was long. We also enjoyed shopping and snacking near the windmill. If you have kids, take them
here!
Yulliana Murakami — Google review
When I first went I wasn't that impressed with the park but that was more due to not realising how much there actually was. Of course there are the athletic/adventure play grounds for the kids, but there is also a wooded walking area that has some interesting twisted trees and even though the majority is asphalt paths, there are a few dirt tracks that make for a regular wood walk. The areas outside the wood and behind the athletic parks are pretty interesting, too and lead through to the flower parks and European style village area which is quite beautiful.
The bridge that spans the two different park areas overlooks the boating lake which was pretty busy on the day we visited.
It's a nice park with plenty to see and do.

Having arrived at his park 20 minutes before closure I was skeptical about paying the full cost of going inside. After going in I was blown away at what they had to offer! I’ve literally traveled all over the whole of Japan and have visited many parks but I must say this park is amazing. Perfect for young lovers, children, and anyone wanting to enjoy the great outdoors, you can bring a small tent and relax. It was said that this was the most popular park even after Tokyo Disneyland was built. That’s no surprise. Cool park.
Chiba Zoological Park is a green space that houses various species such as sloths and pandas, as well as a petting zoo for children. The entrance fee ranges from 100 to 500 yen depending on the age of the visitor, with free admission for children under elementary school age. The park is open on most days except Wednesdays, operating from 9:30am to 4:30pm.
Pretty awesome place to pay a visit with family! Cool playground for kids. Lots of animals you can see here.

We visited it on a Sunday morning. There were many families visiting it with their young kids, but there was no wait to enter the park.
You buy the tickets at the ticketing booth or machines at the entrance. The machine also has English. Tickets cost ¥700 for adults (high school or above) and are free otherwise.
There were many animals to visit, mainly small animals (e.g. lemurs, red pandas, meerkats) with some larger animals (e.g. lions, sea lions, ostrich). There are not that many animals to see, but they were mostly in nice and spacious living areas, so it was nice to see that the animals appear to be treated well.
The paths are mostly quite sunny, but with ample shade (from trees) along most of them. There are also many souvenir shops, restaurants, and clean toilets around the park. There is also a fountain/water playing area for children in the center.
Overall, a very nice and comfortable park to visit for 2-3 hours. It is definitely targeting young children/families more than adults, but it is still a great experience for anyone looking to see animals and relax.

Kids can feed animals too.
Restaurants were okay too.

Went on a Sunday and it wasn't that busy. If you have a stroller, I suggest you plan your route to the petting zoo carefully because it can be quite steep to go from there to the other enclosures. There are plenty of places to sit and have a picnic. We ate at the cafe. The food tasted much better than I expected. If you plan to go on a public holiday it might be better to bring a pack lunch.

I haven't seen this many animals so visible and active in a long time. Otters, kangaroos, lions, ostriches, monkeys zebras, giraffes, elephants, beavers, and more! All the animals looked well cared for. There was also a taiko drum performance with food trucks (tako-yaki, yaki-tori, yaki-soba, and more) on the day we visited. The entrance fee was only ¥700 (less than $5 with 2022 rates) which is a great deal.

Mitsui Outlet Park Kisarazu in Chiba is a must-visit destination, conveniently located near Haneda Airport and accessible via direct highway bus routes from Tokyo, Shinjuku, Shinagawa, and Yokohama. Boasting around 250 stores featuring renowned international designers like Armani, Coach, and Seiko as well as upscale Japanese brands such as Blue Label Crestbridge and Francfranc.
First, you need to grab a floor map of the outlet park as it was large and a bit scattering to navigate around. Not only was the number of stores were impressive, the quality and variety of products were equally so. PLUS, the restaurants in the food court of the outlet park did serve decent and cheap food. Highly recommended.
007Decky — Google review
TLDR: Worthwhile outlet that is not too far.
If you come from The US, do not consider an outlet here the same thing. While prices are lower than a normal store, it is definitely not as cheap a US outlet.
That being wide, Kisarazu is relatively close and easy to get, while having a good selection of stores and parking. It is pretty dog friendly as well which is a plus. If you are nearby it is worth a look if you have something in mind, or a lot of time to kill. It can get quite hot during the summer as it an open air mall with not too much shade, but the stores do blast their AC(good for us…bad for the environment?). The food court is also a good size to accommodate the number of people. And most important of all, good clean bathrooms!
Alan Sue — Google review
The outlet is well designed. Wide range of selection on brands and products. Food court is spacious. Bus is probably the easiest public transportation option. You can buy ticket at the kiosk or pay on the bus.

45 mins direct bus from Tokyo Midtown Yaesu. Pay fee upon alighting bus. Mostly winter stuff for now. Certain stores are not tax free so will need to go tax refund counter located at the food court. Food court is very appealing with many types of food.

Took a 45min bus from Tokyo station which cost us 3000 yen (return) to visit this huge outlet with many big brands' markdown store.
Ride was comfortable and we could even see the beautiful skyline of Tokyo while comuting there.

It is quite convenient to take a coach from Tokyo Station to the Park at ¥1400 single trip. However, they have a package by paying ¥3150 and you will get ¥2500 coupon for spending inside the Park.
The coach station is located at the B2 of Tokyo Mid Town Yaesu while ticket office at B1. The sign board indication inside the building is very clear.
There are 6 departures per day starting from 9:05 am to 11:35 am at line 12 b and 6 returns from 15:30 pm to 20:30pm. It takes about 45 minutes to the Park from Tokyo Station.
Don't expect the price very low. That is about 20 to 30% lower than the normal.

Mitsui Outlet Park offers a delightful shopping experience with a wide range of stores, making it a popular destination for bargain hunters. The outlet park is known for its spacious layout and clean, well-maintained facilities. Shoppers can explore a diverse selection of brands, from fashion to electronics, often at discounted prices.
One of the standout features of Mitsui Outlet Park is its food options. The dining choices are diverse, catering to various tastes, and offer a pleasant break from shopping. Whether you're in the mood for local cuisine or international flavors, you'll find something to satisfy your cravings.
Parking is usually ample, making it convenient for visitors. Additionally, the outlet park often hosts special events and sales, which can make your visit even more rewarding. The staff is generally helpful and courteous, contributing to a positive shopping experience.
While it may not have the high-end luxury brands found in some other malls, Mitsui Outlet Park excels in providing value for money and a relaxed shopping atmosphere. It's a great place to spend a day hunting for deals and enjoying a variety of dining options.

It’s huge area where have furniture store, outlet and restaurant all together.
Enough parking stops around shipping mall for customers.
For my personal idea I don’t think they have good ideas here. I walk around the outlet. The most of the stores don’t have great discount can attract me.

A lot of different brands available in this outlet and very close to the town, take a direct bus from Tokyo station to the outlet just requires 45 minutes. But not every shop is tax free, this is a bit different from other outlets.
Zoe Nei Nei — Google review
Clean and very spacious. Loads of high and middle branded shops. Loved the local branded shops most. We found that prices were a bit more than the UK even when product was on sale. Overall best place was the food court where food was great and varied. However, didn't realize there were more food shops outside with the shops so missed out a bit.
Kwong Lee — Google review
Very convenience to travel from Tokyo to the kisarazu outlet, took a bus from Tokyo station and the journey took less than an hour for 1400 yen or you can choose to pay 3150 yen for bus and get a voucher of 2500 yen that you can use in the outlet for both food and shopping...saving of 750 yen.
There is a food court within the outlets too with sufficient good choice.
The discount is depends very much on the brand you bought, I got 3 winter wear from Oakley at less than 25,000 yen after discount and tax rebate.
To me it’s a better choice compared to going to Gotemba which is more than 2 hours away and the return bus from there is 5.30 pm, while Mitsui is at night around 8.30 pm to Tokyo Yaesu bus terminal.

This Buddhist temple is a beautiful and historic insight into Japan's history. It is located in the suburbs of Tokyo, and attracts millions of visitors each year because of its striking beauty.
Visited on Nwe Year day Jan 1st, 2022 around 12:30 PM. It was super crowd and waited around 2 hours to get into the place. I heard this place very busy on new year day. Thoroughly enjoyed the place and worshiped the god. There are lots of local foods to taste around the area.

We landed in the Narita airport and decided to stay close by for the first night. To our delight and totally unplanned we discovered that there was a beautiful temple and park within 18 minutes walking distance of our hotel. We decided to pay a visit in the morning before taking the bus to Tokyo. A walk through the impressive landscaped grounds surrounding the temple was our first exposure to Japan and left an indelible impression. Very symbolic of the splendid beauty to be found throughout this beautiful country.

I wanted to come here for a while and I think it’s worth the day-trip from Tokyo (also if you have the local specialty of eel). Although the temples themselves are big and stunning, I found the park next/inside of the complex even nicer and very wide - didn’t even know that the park existed.

Top tip - Come straight here by train from Narita/outside of town (unless you are driving), walk along Naritasan Ometesando (shopping street), then walk up to the first tier of the Temple but ignore the shrines.
First make make your way, up and around to the beautiful park at the back of these shrines, explore around and then arrive back at the main shrine area again. Enjoy!

Large temple complex, with a very nice park. The buildings were grand in scale and crafted in true artistic style. The staff were friendly and very helpful. After visiting the temples, we walked through the woods and pond. It was peaceful and charming. there was a small waterfall completely made the grounds magical and a zen like sounds of the crashing down. The falls filled a creek that flow into the pond. Naritasan Park is situated behind the renowned Naritasan Temple and boasts an extensive traditional landscape complete with various plant varieties, ponds teeming with goldfish, and flowering trees. Its charm can be experienced all year round but reaches its pinnacle during cherry blossom season in March and April, as well as autumn when warm brown, yellow, and orange colors adorn the leaves. The park features a calligraphy museum along with trails skirting tree-lined ponds and a plum garden displaying seasonal blossoms.
Wonderful park, absolutely huge, with plenty to look at. Choose your season, autumn being particularly good. The walk down from the station is also fascinating with all the traditional wares for sale and the many food options.

Came here after a long flight from Narita Airport. The walk from Narita station to the garden is well worth it. There are many unique small stores along the way to keep things interesting, not to mention the best unagi restaurant is along the way. This park is incredibly beautiful, huge, and free. I was impressed with the delicacy with which it was designed and the little details in spacial orientation in the landscape architecture. The trees and grounds are well-maintained. There is a beautiful pavilion on the edge of the lake and a bridge. There is what seems to be a small shopping street, but it is closed due to the pandemic. Brooks, stone lanterns, pagoda, and a large waterfall are some attributes. There is a lovely cottage with traditional bamboo fencing. Absolutely lovely.

Having done a few shrines in Tokyo, this was honestly my favorite. Such an awesome place to walk around and see so much!
Please do yourself the favor and stop by if you are staying out here for the airport! You won't regret it and on the walk to the train station there are so many cool shops and small street food places.

Nice park for a walk, beautiful big trees for nature lovers, big carp (koi)in the ponds. I have been many times there and never get bored

This such an incredibly peaceful and beautiful place! We got there early on Saturday morning, so it wasn't crowded. The vendors were just setting up their souvenir booths and the day was chilly but cloudless. It couldn't have been a better day. The artistry of the paintings and carvings on the buildings is truly awe inspiring, and the grounds are immaculate.

A very beautiful park and temple complex + shops and restaurants - a must visit if you are in Narita

A beautiful serene place, large enough to find a quiet corner to meditate and enjoy some peace.
Easy walk from Narita village or Aeon shopping mall
The bus station Narita Airport Terminal 1 is a very clean and neat place with an experience Japanese culture near the Connection Counter. The only downside is the long international connecting flight security check. Otherwise, it's great. There are many shops still closed because of the pandemic, but overall this airport is still functioning well.
Great airport still a lot of shops are closed due to the pandemic

Narita Airport Terminal 1 isn’t just an ordinary entry point to Japan; it’s an introduction to the country’s renowned hospitality. Here’s my perspective:
As soon as you step off the plane and into this bustling terminal, the efficiency and warmth of the Japanese culture are palpable. The airport staff, dressed in impeccably neat uniforms, greet you with a welcoming bow and a genuine smile. It sets the tone for the kind of service you can expect throughout your stay in Japan.
Navigating the terminal is a breeze. The clear signage, helpful English translations, and courteous airport staff make your journey through customs, baggage claim, and transportation connections remarkably stress-free.
Now, let’s talk about the food options. Terminal 1 doesn’t disappoint when it comes to Japanese cuisine. Whether you’re craving a steaming bowl of ramen, fresh sushi, or a bento box, there are numerous eateries to choose from. The quality of the food is reliably good, and it’s an ideal way to get your first taste of authentic Japanese dishes.
The duty-free shops, offering everything from electronics to traditional souvenirs, are another highlight. And, if you have some time to spare, consider visiting the observation deck for a panoramic view of the airport’s bustling runways.
Narita Airport Terminal 1 manages to strike a harmonious balance between efficiency, comfort, and that unmistakable Japanese charm. It’s not just an airport; it’s an integral part of your journey that leaves a memorable impression of Japan’s exceptional hospitality.

Only drawback is the international connecting flight security check, too long. The rest all great.

Not mentioned by many, but bus stop 16 offers the free shuttle bus options to the neighbouring hotels. I specifically had to go to ANA crown plaza, so this is a very convenient way to make your way to the airport hotel without the hassle of taking a taxi.

Very clean and neat throughout the terminal. There is an Experience Japanese Culture near the Connection Counter. Each week it offers different Japanese cultural experiences. This week it is an Origami week. If time allows during connection, have fun with Japanese culture.

One of the busiest Airports in the world. Not as beautiful as Singapore or Mumbai Airport T2 but clean nonetheless. Has ample restaurants but less vegetarian or vegan friendly.

Taking the limousine bus was an easy, seamless, and cheap option to Tokyo Station. Highly recommended.
I was a first-time traveler, and the ticket booth was right outside the arrivals gate as were the buses. The cost was about $15 bucks Canadian right to Tokyo Station. No tunnels or dragging luggage all over the airport. To find trains. Very easy to use

Flights departs around 8am but departure gates opens only at 7am. You come and check in early then wander around and come back for a monster queue for departure gate. It can be quite stressful when you see that queue. Hopefully, we were able to get through that in time. Word of caution, once you check in, start lining up.

I haven't been here in a while due to the coronavirus, but I was surprised to see that things like check-in and security inspections have changed quite a bit.
There are many shops, but are they currently temporarily closed? There are some shops that do.

It was totally different if compared to before covid. Many shops were bankrupt, and the remaining shops were closed mostly after 5-6 PM.

If you are looking for Japan-made thermal flask, they are available for sale inside transit area at the airport. Brands include zojirushi, tiger and thermos. Lower priced items tend not to be Japan-made. We got a Japan-made 480ml thermos for about 4000 Yen which is really reasonably priced.
Thermal flasks are usually sold near where popular snacks are. Just need to keep a lookout for them as it is a pretty small collection.

On 06/12/23 Noda and her team gave me such amazing help when l was in a dire situation. My ticket had been updated with a 28 hour layover that l couldn’t afford to do and so was then put on another flight however the airline hadn’t confirmed it. On my arrival at the airport my ticket couldn’t be found and it seemed l would not be able to go home. I was so upset and distressed and Noda did everything in her power to fix my situation quickly so that l could still make it onto the flight. There was such little time left but Noda and the others managed to get my ticket sorted in time and l was able to make it home. I pray God blesses every single person who took part in helping me get the matter sorted. Truly l’m grateful to you all, especially Noda. Thank you for your help but especially your kindness towards me, l will never forget you. Noda was on desk F17 for the 19:30 flight to London Gatwick with a layover in Shanghai Pudong.

Do not use the Automatic Currency Exchange Machine when arriving at Terminal 1! It charged me 22 Euro for exchanging my money without any information given. If you fly from Taipei airport, I HIGHLY recommend just exchanging your money there, as the rates are much better/you pay much less for the service.
Horrible experience and disappointed that there is no information on this.
Katori-Jingu Shrine is a grand and significant Shinto shrine located in a serene forest setting. The structure, which stands today, dates back to 1700 CE. Visitors can access the shrine by taking a bus from Sawara and walking down a long winding avenue lined with trees. The approach includes several shops selling local foods and souvenirs, including dango that visitors are recommended to try.
I been here with my family of 3 and a baby. The place is embedded in the nature and seems like middle of forest.
Place was having lots of positive vibes and peaceful from inside.
Would love to visit again.
I was in a mind set that pets are not allowed to visit temples or shine. Pets are allowed here and I miss to take my pet along with us.
And don’t forget to try some local delicious snacks in the street.

Can be reached by bus from Sawara. The approach to the temple is a long winding tree-lined avenue which helps build the anticipation. Once there, the grounds and buildings are immaculately well kept, making it a very rewarding experience.

This is a giant and important shrine in Katori. The approach leading up to the forest entrance has a number of shops selling local foods and souvenirs. I reccomend trying the dango from one of the stores.
The shrine itself has a number of buildings alongside numerous torii gates and niomon gates. Great place to spend some relaxing and chilled out time surrounded by nature.

Kashima Jingu Shrine is a renowned Shinto shrine nestled in a serene and peaceful location. It boasts an entrance gate painted in red-lacquer, alongside four prayer halls, all of which are surrounded by a beautiful deer park. Visitors can gain valuable insights into the local wisdom and historical significance of Japan by exploring this vast area.
Shinto Kashima Jingu Shrine is a quiet & calming place. It's look like a huge shrine in the middle of jungle. You can learn a lot of local wisdom & Japan history from this area. I came here for the first time in 2013, when I joined a student exchange programme between Indonesia & Japan, organized by JPF (Japan Foundation), JICE (Japan International Cooperation Center) & JTB (Japan Travel Bureau).

Too bad the main gate was covered for repairing. The temple grounds are lovely but I wouldn’t use the word “stunning”. The pond at the end of the grounds with an old tree hanging over it looks pretty magical. Better to go early in the day.

From web site;
Kashima Jingu is a historic shrine founded in the first year of Emperor Jimmu, enshrining Takemikazuchi Omikami, the god of Japan's founding and martial arts.

Kashima Jingu is the most famous shrine in this area. Highest grade of shrine is called “Jingu”. It’s first time for me to visit here. Path in the saint forest impressed me so much because of its atmosphere which is so hard to explain. This shrine is one of the spots I recommend most in Ibaraki prefecture.
Don’t miss it!

You get to see where there is a huge rock planted deep to stop awful earthquakes from happening; many shrines to visit; good food restaurants, plenty of parking space areas nearby for about 800 yen; very friendly environment, many people who can speak English to help with tourism.
