The lodge comprises traditional homesteads representing various tribal cultures such as Zulu, Xhosa, Pedi, Ndebele and Basotho. It provides a unique opportunity to experience South Africa's diverse cultural heritage firsthand with great performances of drumming, dancing and singing by talented locals.
Please bear in mind that the village has not had income for two years due to covid. They are so grateful for every single tourist who visits. They bend over backwards to be helpful and their enthusiasm is contagious. This is a super entertaining and educational experience. We slept over and ate with the guys. It was truly awesome and we cannot recommend the experience more highly.

We went for the lunch and dance with the tour around the villages, was such a great experience to learn some things about the culture. Was interactive playing drums and learning a few hello words for each culture. Bring your camera .Food was amazing , though not sure what was on the menu, plenty of gifts to buy as well. Fantastic experience that you should definitely check out. Just wear good shoes though walk isn't huge the path a little uneven and for the elderly you may need wheel chair or walker as I seen some get tired on the tour.

I came for the tour and lunch, at and it was fabulous! I really enjoyed learning about the local traditions. The only thing I wished they would improve is selling a guidebook with all the information they shared during the tour.
Shoshana Gleit — Google review
We just went to their tour, show and lunch, no overnight stay. We really enjoyed the dances in particular. The lunch was very good and I would advise adding it into the tour and show.

A true South African cultural experience. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Food was very and and really represent our country. The Dance show was very good and we enjoyed it. A must see experience.

You experience culture and peace in seclusion. Funny but good thing is the place evokes respectful, accomodative, inclusion and neighbourly vibe among guests. You experience cultural dance and singing. Housekeepers and hosts and hostess make you feel so at home you'd feel weird if someone addressed you as sir or ma'am. There are TVs in the rooms for some of us who are "addicts," but of course if it distorts the ambience for you, you can treat it as abstract decor😊.

Great experience and we had an amazing tour guide. I enjoyed coming home and bringing my USA family to learn more about the cultures in SA. Shopping was great too. Way to go guys.

Great drumming, dancing and singing performances, lots of souvenirs for sale and an excellent tour around the different cultural villages.

The main meals are good but the tea cookies not so great. The dancers and tour guide are professional. Accommodation is not too bad but there's no fridge, iron in the room. The aircon was not working but the ceiling fan stood in the gap. The mood is good and rural especially for an urban dweller.
Solomon Matli — Google review
Drumming session was amazing. The cultural aspect and story telling through dancing very good. Food amazing, great variety with crocodile and real South African food. The hotel part is good, but for day-visitors the experience and facilities is not the same that 8 years ago.
aha need to give Lesedi a bit of TLC. To many small infrastructral problems show and maintanance must be priority.
Update: So I visited yesterday after a couple months and I can see the place is busy with renovations painting. Lots of tourist for the day. Food very good. Defnitly some improvements.

Really beautiful. Much bigger than I thought and comfortable rooms. Really delicious meals and good choice to choose from. Friendly and efficient staff and service. Thank you.
John Guy Taylor — Google review
This is very basic. The cultural experience is incredibly noisy with mainly drums & dancers. The food is very basic. The rooms are also not of a high standard with limited electrical sockets in awkward to reach places
David Elliott — Google review
The rooms look great, it really looks like a cultural village. The service is just okay, not bad and not great, they don't have a water dispenser at breakfast which is shocking. I enjoyed my breakfast and dinner was just okay and not exciting. I love that we get to eat a lot of veggies at dinner. The location is perfect, there's a lot of activities

Interesting accommodation, basic but perfectly satisfactory. Great cultural entertainment in evenings. Food choices ok. Staff friendly and attentive. Appreciated our novel early morning wake-up call from the gentlemen man playing guitar outside

Although it's quite a distance from where i live. Im glad that i got to experience this wonderful heritage and cultural preservation space. I learnt a great deal from the knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff. The dancers are so fit and full of passion and energy. I highly recommend this experience and environment. A true national tressure.

We paid for the dance and dinner package. The dance was okay. The dinner was a huge disappointment. Not only was the buffet limited to a few selections, the food was cold cold, the beef stew was stone cold, it was inedible. We told the waitress about it and she just mumbled something and shrugged us off and vanished.
Same with the dessert, the custard was cold.
Were were told dinner is served from 6 - 8pm. Were were there at
6:45pm, so it cant be a case of being late and found them ready to pack up.
If it hadn't been for the fact that we had already paid for the buffet and were tired and were also not so familiar with the area, we would not have eaten there and gone to find dinner elsewhere.
We went there for a one night stay only (Sat night). Did not do the tour.

A good place to know culture of South africa. Many tour operators may take you there buy if you can ride by your self its 40 minutes drive away from protea
That cheese and meat platter was really enjoyable 😉
I ended up buying the gogonzola (blue cheese) and a young gouda

The perfect place to make memories.
The perfect place for outdoor enthusiasts with hiking and mountain bike trails, stunning picnic spots for the most incredible date day experience book with Anja and get a phenomenal picnic basket filled with out of this world snacks including cheese made by the farm..... If I carry on, you'll be reading this forever.
Do yourself a favour. Just go!
Oh and there are lamas 🤯

What lovely walks for people of various fitness levels and the paths midst the trees and reeds ensure comfortable walking experiences in spite of the heat. The variety of fungi after the rain reminded if a fairy world. Spider 🕷 lovers will not be disappointed and for those who dislike the eight legged critters, rest assured, they are more interested in staying in their webs than disturbing you. The restaurant provided tasty food at a reasonable cost. Next time, we will order a picnic 🧺.
Elzette Fritz — Google review
Really beautiful place food is good service is amazing, I think the only thing I'd change is perhaps the music, normally we try to escape the idea of the city and some people listing to the same songs every artist plays at every other place, its like a radio on repeat.
Perhaps look at something new, perhaps a bit culturally wise, netherland bands perhaps. After all, we never see these bands perform any where it would be nice to embrace something close to the theme of the farm itself and history. The whole purpose is to be different from others. But otherwise the place is gorgeous the hiking trails are amazing!

We came out on Saturday to go for a hike followed by a nice lunch and some cheese and wine tasting. The whole experience was wonderful, the hike is well marked with beautiful scenery and the restaurant was so vibey (great service and great food). Every person I spoke to was so welcoming and friendly, you have such kind and helpful staff. I did notice a lot of dogs were walking around the premises - I would have loved to bring my dogs with on the hike but didn't because the website says it's not allowed? Is there a way to request permission to bring our doggies?

Wonderful Place. The food and drinks were exceptional, above board. Atmosphere was spectacular! Service fast and accurate. Picture perfect scenery. Had the most wonderful ideas about future events involving Terrace @ Van Gaalen. Think this place can be very grand for a small intimate wedding!

Absoluut pleasure visiting each time, my favorite is the liver patei on the cheese platter!! Will eat this on its own!! Luckily the friendly staff and owner sells it separately so I can take some home.

If you want to taste heaven then order some of their cheesecake. You will definitely not regret it. In all honesty it was the best cheesecake I have tasted in my entire life and I will definitely be back for some more. We were assisted by Chris and he was attentive, entertaining and knowledgeable. The staff are so friendly and the views are great too.

Took my wife and daughter to lunch there today( 01/05/24)and whilst the food was good, well the cheese and meat platter anyway, except that we ordered extra Camembert, and when the platter arrived it had been replaced by a blue cheese, and when we enquired as to the whereabouts of our Camembert, we were told they’d run out? A cheese factory running out of cheese?
And my daughters pizza, although generous, was soggy!
The initial service was good, but when we wanted to order more drinks, we suddenly became invisible, even the senior manager? Managed to ignore us, so I phoned them and asked if it was possible to get some service.
Then they fell over themselves to attend to us.
Hopefully they’ll learn from this, because the overall expect is really nice there!

Brought my husband here for his 30th birthday. This was such a beautiful experience. The whole experience is well crafted and thought of. From welcome coffee/tea, being high in the sky and celebratory mimosas after landing. The staff was friendly, engaging and well organised. Shout to Marty and Eugene, our pilots, they were absolutely great. In fact, shout out to all staff members, this was a well executed experience. Loved every bit of it. Highly recommended it.

Arriving at the launch site at 5h15am to find the weather balloon being blown all over the show, rain etc and suspecting that we might not fly was so disappointing. About an hour later weather perfect and inflation starts. That thing is HUGE and so beautiful. What an experience flying next to the majestic Magaliesburg mountains and observing the skill it takes to maneuver the balloon. A bumpy landing in a field. Champagne and orange juice and back to launch site for a scrumptious breakfast. What an experience. Thank you Bill Harrops "Original" Balloon Safaris. Your service was excellent and I would highly recommend
Karin Saffy — Google review
Any visot to Bill Harrops is special. They run a magnificent operation. It's amazing to float off into the distance with only the sound of the odd burst of flame and hot air into the balloon. To finish off an amazing experience there is a breakfast fit for kings to be had. Pastries bacon eggs fruit yogurt is in abundance. The variety is spectacular and all tastes catered for. This is something everybody needs to experience.... really well done Bill Harrops!!¡

One of my best experiences to date.
From seeing the setting up of the balloons over a cup of hot coffee and muffins to the thrill of soaring in the sky everything was amazing. There were experience pilots that were friendly and took care of all the passengers. The breakfast at the Pavilion was great and they made extra sure that we were taken care of by providing Halal meals. Overall, everything was well organized and was a great experience.

What a surreal experience!!! I’ve never dealt with such friendly people - from the moment I emailed them to the actual flight, everyone was so kind and helpful. Absolutely lovely. Well organized set up from when you arrive to fireplaces lit every where to hot coffee while you watch them set up as the dawn breaks. Our pilot was brilliant with a fine sense of humor. He even landed the balloon on the trailer, most impressive. We had Mimosas as we landed and finished the morning off with a delicious breakfast at the Pavillion. Thank you for an unforgettable experience
Liliesleaf is a museum in Johannesburg that tells the story of South Africa's liberation movement. The museum has exhibits which provide background information on the struggle for freedom, as well as interactive features which allow visitors to explore the history of apartheid and the events that led up to its downfall.
They have preserved the homestead and outbuildings well. The kids enjoyed the interactive information stations and it was nice to give them visuals and context. It was very quiet and hopefully more people will support Liliesleaf by visiting.

This place has closed down since covid. It is very sad that the government haven't intervened to keep it up and running! We could not go in. Still shows open on google.

Liliesleaf is currently undergoing renovation. It was not officially open when I visited on September 14, 2023 but an employee offered to guide me through many of the displays. It was well worth it but I was very fortunate to be given this opportunity. Definitely call before visiting to see if it's open.

The Springs mall management instructed ubars and bolts to drop us far from the shops we going to, I am using the crushes the mall doesn't allow ubar or bolt to drop me next to Standard bank, this is sad and it's violated my rights, that really needs to be fixed we pay for our ubar & bolts it's not fair to have dropping points, specially to us who are unable to walk long distance. We don't use taxis because we are unable to walk long distance due to medical conditions

My experience at Springs mall seeing security guards abusing elderly ppl parked at the entrance just so the lady can be able to get be lifted to her wheelchair. I'm disgusted by this act they didn't even show compassion instead of them assisting they are screaming and pointing at poor ppl . What gives your guards so much power to abuse customers because apart from this incident Springs mall guards are very disrespectful

The bird watching area at Montecasino Casino and Entertainment Centre features lush gardens with colourful birds from all around the world. This fun place is a must-see for all ages, and it's even great for plant lovers!
Fantastic place to take the family. Dress comfortably as there is a lot of walking around, pram and stroller friendly. Self paced enjoyment and education for the family. Bird food given to encourage interactiveness especially for the kids. Wide assortment of animals! Birds, snakes, bats etc. A live show in the shaded amphitheatre is held at 11am and 3pm.
To top it off the kids can have fun at a play area whilst you watch them from the seated area which has its own restaurant.
Wonderful way to spend time with the ones you love ❤️

I am not really big on places that have birds or animals kept in enclosures or for shows but I must say the animals and birds look pretty well looked after and most have good space to roam. One fun activity is feeding the ducks with special duck pellets but please only feed the ducks as they tell you. Otherwise, it's an interesting, interactive place for couples and families to explore together. Lots of interesting birds, reptiles and monkeys to see etc.

We went for a bird show and paid full price for 4 adults and 2 kids - all we got was a bird talk. A bit disappointing that we weren't told that there wasn't a bird show taking place that day. The garden areas were well kept and restaurant area good. Before you buy tickets at the front office, they should disclose if the bird show is taking place or not. Otherwise do a discounted ticket option without the show...

My family loved it. It's just big enough to get your muscles working in the open air but small enough to not become monotonous. The animals are all well-kept and have the freedom to roam the main enclosure so you get a real sense for the animals as you would find them out in the wild. The gardens are beautiful, and my kids enjoyed the bird show. There's a lovely cafe at the entrance with a play area for the kids next to the flamingo enclosure, which really does make for a brilliant wild experience right on our doorstep.

From after Covid, the park has been battling. Bird show very watered down. A few empty cages with nothing in.

Montecasino is a top casino in Johannesburg with a range of attractions for couples and families to enjoy together, such as an awesome bird park. It's also great for responsible gambling and has plenty of restaurants and entertainment options to choose from.
Fantastic entertainment venues. Amazing restaurant. Great feel to the place so much choice . Massive casino, cinema. Huge outdoor are that has a huge screen showing sporting fixtures. Loads for kids to do also . Every type of restaurant you could want . Fantastic Bird sanctuary next door . Well worth a visit.

Still in great nick, well maintained, awesome selection of eateries, from both fast food to finer dining. The casino is also great fun and worth spending an hour or so trying to win the big one. There was a superb collection of vintage cars on show ahead of an auction, added to the overall feeling of a few hours well spent.

Monte is always a great place to go unwind.
I am not a gambler so the casino has no attraction for me. Fortunately the supporting restaurants, stores and entertainment venues are more than enough to keep even a non gambler entertained.
The restaurants are for the most part well priced and there is an excellent range so you can enjoy it on a budget.
The security is a great advantage as you can feel comfortable with letting the teens roam free without supervision and there are plenty of activities for them too.
Overall I think everyone should visit at least once to take in the sights and experience but I am confident that having visited once you will want to return again and again.

Our go to place for hanging out with friends. There is something for everyone here. You see all age groups of people. So many beautiful restaurants, casino to play, movies, food courts, arcade, bowling, laser tag, plays, desserts, shopping, everything. This place is also quite safe that we haven’t heard of any incidents that we are aware of.
The false ceiling and the fountains give it European vibe. You will take loads of pictures here. A must visit for anyone

Very nice setting and lots to do. Spoiled for choice on restaurants but can get very busy and expensive. Overall, a very nice experience. It's worth the visit when in Johannesburg. Check out the bird park as well.

The place is amazing you can have your night walk in peace.. but expect lots of traffic walking
Different restaurants make it better for you to choose from the best also they do have clubs I was very impressed. They do have some shopping clothes as well.. if you have been to emperor place just imagine double size of it with lots of restaurants and out door ones for smokers with a great view as well I’ll definitely do this again

Visited on a weekend with friends and family. Even 2 small kids are with us. And for everyone it is very very great place to spend time. You have all kinds of restaurants, gaming zone, casino , kids area etc. You even have a place where you can leave your kids in the care zone and go for a movie or play in the casino. We had lunch at an Indian Restaurant, the place is very good and well maintained.

👌🏽👌🏽 Very clean. Perfect for the whole family. There's a cinema, casino, games (arcade, bowling, etc) and lovely restaurants. The overall design is awesome, it has an Italian feel. Sort of feels like a night out in Italy. You will understand it once you get there. So go go go 🤭

Amazing activities to do inside if going as a group also an amazing place for a date with amazing restaurants and bars. I've been there four times this year that's how I've fallen in love with the place. NEXT TIME I'M GOING TO THE CASINO🤞

Very nice family friendly place, as like other casino, R10 parking for the duration of your visit. Magic world play area well equipped to entertain the entire family, just gets a bit crowded. More then enough restaurants for your liking, witnessed at some restaurants you'll que up to get inside, which give indication the restaurants food are well sought after. So yah it's worth the drive to spend your day with the kids.

Montecasino in Johannesburg is an absolute gem and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great entertainment experience.
In addition to the casino, Montecasino also offers a fantastic selection of restaurants, bars, and cafes. Whether you're in the mood for a casual meal or a fine dining experience, you're sure to find something to suit your taste buds. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable.
The complex also has a theater, which hosts amazing performances and shows. I was lucky enough to catch a show during my visit and it was truly spectacular. The sound and lighting were top-notch and the performers were incredibly talented.
Overall, Montecasino is a fantastic destination for anyone looking for a fun, exciting, and memorable experience. I would highly recommend it and give it a 5-star rating without hesitation.

Fireroom was awesome !!
The fillet on the bone and bang bang chicken as well as sushi on fire were absolute hits. Not so much their dessert as it was very dry, plain and simple.

I was here at Montecasino merely to meet and greet with our President that visited SA for BRICS Summit. From the outside is a nice and fancy place. Not sure how does it look inside the room an all other facilities as I was only outside and at the Reception inside area. I am sure its a great place as couple of Head of State was staying here.

It is so beautifully designed. It has that Italian / vintage/ Rome layout. There is a huge variety of different types of restaurants - Greek, Indian, Japanese, Italian and a lot more. They also have a food court with a variety of affordable well known food places. There is also a lot of entertainment with the casino, bowling, games, bumper cars and movies. There is also a beautiful open area which has a unique fountain that children are normally playing at.

Well setup casino. This casino pulls in a huge crowd, because locals around love spending on a little gambling. The no of machine are huge. Multiple gaming options. Machine and manual both setups available. Located at prime spot. Good parking, various food option available.

Can be seen as a little deceptive from the outside. Great place to catch a bite to eat with a huge variety of options as well as the chance to catch a show. The prices on shows are very reasonable, especially if you think what they charge overseas for similar performances.

Lots of restaurants and theaters. Fun place to visit, but we missed the legendary sky painted roof? It was very dark inside the casino and very busy. Avoid peak hours if you get anxious in crowds! I would not say child friendly (little kids approximately 1 to 7 years). There are very few family-friendly restaurants with play areas (I know there is a Spur but do not know how the playarea is).

Very beautiful! A nice variant of restaurants inside like Greek, Asian, Indian, African and so on. So there's something for everyone. The casino itself looks very clean and nice. Sadly we didn't get to play. We wanted a day card to play since we only stopped by. The machine told us to get them at the cashier but after asking we could only sign up but not get a day card to play. Was a bit sad but once you're signed up I think it will be a lot of fun there. Just wasn't worth it for us for the short visit.

Meh, it's okay. Cinema hasn't got anything exciting. Of all the restaurants I'd only recommend Lily Asian, the salmon sushi was the best I've ever had. There's nothing really to do here. Even the magic company doesn't offer much, and the machines are giving in.

We to a late Saturday comedy show and had a buffet meal before. Both show and food were good and value for money. Busy atmosphere, but pity about the young kids hanging around the casino while their parents gambled.

Always busy and a mission to enter and find parking. You rather make a reservation if you want to go to one of the restaurants for dinner or go early enough if you are a walk in.
Cinema is good. Tried the 4dx. It was clean and a good experience. Not too much of walking is done. But the place does offer more than just a Casino environment.

I took my family here to eat on our last night in South Africa. We ate at Spurs, a restaurant I ate at frequently and loved as a child. It didn't disappoint.
The staff were fantastic and the menu had something for everyone. My daughter and I are vegetarian so fully expected to only have salad. However there was a whole vegan menu to choose from. The steaks and ribs where a complete hit with the neat eaters and just as I remember them, huge!
A great place to wonder round and loads of places to choose to eat too.

Went to watch a live show at the theatre. We sat in row F, but all rows is facing at an adequate angle towards the stage. Will recommend seats 17 -20 in each row as it has a bit more leg space. They allow food and drinks in except popcorn and hot bevarages. Friendly service at the door. Have plenty to do while you wait for the show or thereafter. No problem with parking.

I have five star because it feels with lots of activities to enjoy, from the delicious meals that is served at various restaurants there to the friendly services of the staffs. It has a very big casino space, the kids have all the fun activities at the game side, adults are not left behind.
The cinema gives you interesting options to enjoy your movies as VIPs, musicals are also available. Great picture locations it has beautiful water fountains, conference centres
Be warned that it is usually parked full during festive seasons, you might then have to wait in line for tables to eat or to enter some places.

This facility is up to date and quality. The moment you enter you feel as if you are in a completely brand new world and all your worries disappear. This facility is a great place to distress and take a moment to spoil yourself. The only issue I have encountered was that one of the elevators weren't working and within that same are the lights were highly dim.

The hotel was amazing. The casino was awful. Rude attendants everywhere, I've never felt so put off by service in a casino anywhere.
If you are coming for the hotel, a conference, or any of the amazing restaurants, it's a great experience. If there is any human interaction needed between you and casino workers, rather give another place a go.

It is a very big mall and has majority of the stores you would expect from a mall. The is undercover parking and outdoor parking.

The East Rand Mall is a great place to shop. There is a huge selection of stores and plenty of secure parking. The passages are wide and spacious but can get quite crowded when the mall is very busy. Be sure to wear your step counter because you're sure to get your 10 000 steps in here! The mall is all on one level so no escalators or lifts to navigate, except from one of the multi-level parking areas and there are large wheelchair friendly ramps wherever there are a few steps.

Very good store selection. Parking ticket pay machines need to be upgraded, they still battle to take new money notes. Toilets look pretty with door wraps to brighten up the space, but not very clean by cinema side. The Cradle of Humankind is a World Heritage Site located in the West Rand, just west of Johannesburg. The area contains a dozen dolomitic limestone caves that contain the fossilised remains of ancient forms of animal life. This rich archaeological site is significant for its contribution to our understanding of human evolution and prehistoric culture.
This was a great learning experience for me and my family, we enjoy each and every moment of it. Thanks to the super friendly staff members of which I don't know how they do it, security guards, cashiers, tour guides and the guys at the parking lot thank you, keep up the good work.

Took the kids to Cradle of Humankind this past weekend and we throughly enjoyed this historical place. We joined a group for a tour guide and it was very educational. There’s also a short trip on the boat where you experience the different elements. We went on a Saturday round 12 and it was not full. After the tour we bought popcorn and ice cream and also took a family photo. Kids under 6 are free.

This was an interesting place, but we went with the tour and the boat ride was kind of weird. They didn’t tell you what it is that you were doing it was just a ride. After they tell you it has to do with the elements of fire water earth. There is a lot of information about evolution after you get off the ride, but there’s not much else to it.

Carnival City Casino and Entertainment World is an exciting resort located in a circus-themed complex. It boasts a range of dining options, event venues, gaming facilities and spa services. The establishment follows strict COVID-19 protocols to ensure the safety of its visitors. However, it charges R10 per person on weekends which may be unexpected for those on a tight budget or travelling with a large group.
This year I went to Carnival City twice. I must say that environment at the restuarants, particularly the Spur was conducive and accommodating to the type of informal - yet critical - business engagement I needed to have at very short notice. The staff were excellent. The management understood my needs and delivered per excellence! I shall return 👌🏽

Good COVID 19 protocol followed. R10 per person entrance on weekends is relatively new and can throw people off especially if you're on a budget with 5 plus people in your car. Overall, it is clean, great service from different shops and the outside area with the rides is well controlled and relatively safe. Definitely worth going for play dates.

The place is always running despite the challenges posed by persistent load shedding. The addition of an Ice Ring on top of a variety of restaurants, kids indoor and outdoor play center, the Cinema as well as live musical events makes the place an ideal place to choose whilst in the East Rand. Carnival City Casino is a true definition of Ekhurhuleni (A place of calmness and peace).

Such a gem and great value for money. Innocent was very friendly and helpful and went the extra mile to help us secure a room upgrade. Rooms are surprisingly big, especially coming to Carnival City straight after the Cabanas at Sun City. Just wish the smoking policy would be better enforced as smokers don't seem to realize it's a public space around the pool

Nice place to be whether alone or with family & friends. There is Cinema for movies, restaurants and games for children. The place has convenient working hours with other facilities running 24 hours. It is also situated conveniently along N17 with an affordable hotel within the premises. Spacious parking with access controlled entrance makes it safe & ideal. It's very ideal for a one-stop family treat

Your music is terrible, it is by far also to loud, Your announcers microphone is erritating high. We are not all old age people, please go to Ceasars and hear the difference. Set your sound lower and people don't have to scream when they talk.

Great place for the kids to just enjoy an outing.
It is also a good place to hang out as adults as there's a Casino and a casino here. They also tend to host some concerts and events here . Highly recommend.

Carnival City is still the best place to be, the only challenge of going there during the week is the queue for entering the premises where you have to pay a fee...you'll only find 1 boom gate is working in that day...everything else is incredible!!!...if you've never been there, try it out.
Sabelo — Google review
Great time as always at Carnival, the only sad part is all the beautiful water features are gone, most noticeably at the front entrance. The bowling and arcade games are much better with the renovations done but sadly it feels as if it's missing something, especially by the casino side.
The maintenance is also not being done at all as all the paint is faded.
Bowling was at least 5 stars.

Had such a love experience. Attended a party, and their venue are absolutely amazing. Great interior, secluded from the play area and can accommodate large numbers as well

It's amazing and super affordable, really! The tokens are as cheap as R2 so for R100 you get 50 tokens and your child can play at their own pace. They now have an extended playing area which was a small area when I last went in 2021 whereby game tickets start from as little as R10. I swear, it is now a mini Goldreef city 😍. I loved the experience and entertainment which is what keep us going back with my friends and family.

The Bothongo Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve, located less than 30 miles northwest of Johannesburg, is a nature reserve dedicated to the preservation of endangered species such as lions, rhinos, cheetahs and vultures. The privately-owned reserve covers an area of 3,000 acres and is home to over 600 animals from more than 30 different species including giraffes, hippos, flamingos and ostriches.
We stayed 2 nights in the cabin log with jacuzzi and we had a wonderful time. The chalet was not brand new but well equipped, clean and comfortable for us. We had a Rhino with the baby stayed in front of our cabin the whole night. We would definitely go again.

A really great family friendly day out. Not a far drive from Johannesburg, loads of animals to see - you see them up close and in families and herds. Really great experience to see predator feeding.
The reptile show was educational and entertaining and the show was hosted by a fantastic female host... I've never seen a female snake handler before. She really was amazing!
The animals are all well taken care of and those in enclosures have a reasonable amount of space to roam.
All staff were very helpful, welcoming and knowledgeable.
The bike park was a nice extra touch! Kids enjoyed that too.
We were really pleasantly surprised by this amazing place. Definitely a must visit for families with kids. Great value for the price.
We only didn't get to visit the Wonder Caves because the times overlapped with other activities.

The drive to get to the reserve is scenic and easy to navigate. The tickets office were very helpful. The driver started the drive in time, was very accommodating. He was very knowledgeable and professional. The reserve has a variety of animals that we were able to see and learn about. We did not get to see the lions because we went a day after the feeding so would recommend going on feeding day if you want a sighting of the lions.

Beautiful views and majestic animal sightings. The retail park is also very informative, including the bird sanctuary. It's well worth it R450 per vehicle for the game drive, you get access to the predator feed at 1pm and reptile show at 2.30. You also have access to view the captive animals, including tiger, hippo, cheetah, leopard, jaguar, panther, lynx, etc. Beautiful place to visit with the family.

This was my fourth visit to the Rhino and Lion Park and it is absolutely great. There is so much to see. Every 5km we would see animals, the wild cats that were hiding or sleeping all woke up during feeding time which was cool to watch. Entry to the park is R220.00 per person and schedule nothing less than 4 hours to drive around.

I really, really loved this place. Went there with my partner and friends, I would like to go back in summer when we can sit outside and enjoy the view.
I had a desert, and it was alright. This is a great place to go to with family or even as friends when you want to unwind and relax also to enjoy nature. There is a biking trail that I spotted , and you can also rent a bike so those activities need a nice hot summer day.
sthembile Buthelezi — Google review
A bit pricey compared to other zoos and national game parks but has the best of both worlds as it combines both zoo type enclosures as well as open game drive areas to view animals in natural habitats.
Widest selection of bigs cats i have ever seen, especially ligers which were huge. Also experienced rhino and buffalo very close to our vehicle. White lioness coming directly towards our vehicle was a surreal experience though a bit terrifying at the same time. Variety of leopards in enclosures to be seen along with gorgeous white tigers. Only one of the big 5 we did not see was the elephant. Tons of other animals like ostrich, buck and hippo to see as well a giraffe feeding experience at the restaurant.
Given the price would ensure you spend the entire day there to get the best value as there are many other facilities for kids -play areas, slides etc.

Went for a day, to the restaurant. Let’s start with the drive: lovely views of mountains and green trees —felt like a local gateway which was fun. The entrance is clean and well-maintained. This place is popular for their restaurant, but it also offers overnight accommodation and a game drive.
We went to the restaurant, the attraction point is *drum roll* feeding the giraffe😅 while you wait for your meal or after your meal, you have the option to feed the giraffe for R50 (how cool).
The food was amazing, and well priced. It’s a good place to go for a first-date, birthday celebration or just a simple Sunday family outing. Definitely recommend!

This place will be amazing for kids parties and introducing them to animals. The enclosures are well kept and the animals well looked after.
The road inside the big cats enclosures are best suted for a vehicle that has a higher ground clearance than usual. We went in a Audi and won't recommend it, but if you have a bakkie or SUV definitely try it out. Was a lovely day and will definitely go back.

A real game farm on your doorstep.
Only 40 minutes drive to a game farm that has truly amazing experiences.
Lion, white lion, cheetah, tigers and leopards, to name a small percentage of what we got to see.
The drive in the park can take you the whole day, if you want, with a large picnic area where you can braai.
Definitely worth the drive.
Also an amazing place to take your visitors from out of the country to experience wildlife without leaving the city.
The "neck and deck" restaurant at the entrance gives you an opportunity to see giraffe close and personal. Food and service at restaurant is average and offering could be better.

Always a great day out with lots to see in the main reserve.
At the "centre" of the reserve is a "zoo" with a large variety of animals including a tiger.
There's also a bike track and play area for the kids + giraffe feeding at the "entrance".

Our visit to Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve was truly unforgettable! From the moment we stepped foot in the reserve, it was evident that we were in for an incredible experience. Watching the majestic lions and even having the opportunity to feed them was a highlight for both the kids and us.
The safari experience at Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve was exceptional. The knowledgeable guides ensured that we got up close and personal with a variety of animals, making it an educational and thrilling adventure for the whole family. We were delighted to see so many different species in their natural habitat, which left us with a sense of wonder and appreciation for the diversity of wildlife.

Cars can go for safari here, if you don’t have car then you can choose open safari vehicle. There is a feeding time for lions, wild dogs, cheetahs. There is a cave, visit it. This area is safe. The staffs are friendly. It is completely outside of Johannesburg. While returning it would be tough to get taxis using bolt or uber. Come here at 9 or 10 AM and spend enough time here. 3 hours could be enough but with kids, you can spend more time. Photographers must bring good zooming lens.

Mountain Sanctuary Park is a secluded and serene private nature park located in Magaliesburg, Gauteng. The park offers guests the opportunity to explore stunning rock formations, hike along scenic trails, and observe various species of birds and butterflies. Access to the park's facilities is exclusive to overnight guests staying at Mountain Sanctuary Park who can enjoy private reserve with mountain pool swims. Animals such as monkeys, squirrels, and geckos are regularly seen around the camping grounds with private ablution facilities.
Great camping grounds with private ablution facilities. The hiking trails are easy enough for anyone to try with beautiful scenery and refreshing mountain pools as a reward.

Great place for a weekend getaway. Clean facilities and great ablutions. Very friendly staff and well stocked shop on premises. However, the monkeys can be a menace. Do not leave any food unattended and keep food stored securely in your car. They will break into your tent and make their way into your car for food

Stunning place, very wild and natural.
Lovely exploration to discover beautiful rock pools.
Staff are friendly.
Old school rustic and clean cabins.
The shop at the office could be better stocked with food.
Went for a hike, the pathway wasn’t obvious so we did get lost but the scary part was spotting a massive baboon nearby at the top of a hill in the rocks.
I love being in the wild but that was too close for comfort.
With nowhere to go, we had to think very clearly on how to backtrack from a potentially life death situation.
Thankfully I’ve lived to write this review, it’s stunning but that was dangerous.
We thought we were safe with leaving a burglar bar window open in our cabin but the monkey entourage invaded by sending a baby monkey in. It’s true, monkeys like bananas and milk tarts etc, and they don’t like pineapples although they’ll have a go!
Lovely place and I’d like to go back, but need to rethink the hiking trail bit.

Tranquility. Silence. Close to nature. Absolutely STUNNING rock formations and river pools.
Challenging walks to some of the different sites (especially if you're unfit) but SO absolutely worth it.
Old school but clean ablutions.
Some hiking trails were unfortunately unaccessable due to overgrown vegetation. Monkeys a little bit of a nucance but hey, that's nature.

Simply my favorite spot to go camping. Nice sites with ample shade and everything is always well maintained. The rock pools are the best place to cool down after a walk in the heat of summer and there are so many to choose from. There's endless exploration in the rock formations as well as the gorge hike. A short hike about 2km (or 30 mins) walk to the pool. Make sure you confirm directions before you take off, and then you should be fine (its easy to get lost if you're not sure). When you get to the actual pool, there's a bit of a rock climbing involved, but completely worth it!

Absolutely stunning.
By far one of my absolute favorite places to experience nature in.
The hiking around the reserve is spectacular with incredible scenery and amazing rockpools.
The accommodation is decent and they have great campsites as well.
Another plus is that they have a strict no-noise policy, so one can really relax without being disturbed by others.
10/10 would recommend, but be sure to book in advance.
Maropeng is a contemporary museum and entertainment complex located at the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage site. It features interactive exhibits that chronicle the origins and evolution of humankind, from its earliest beginnings to modern times. The center also houses a new exhibit highlighting Homo naledi, a previously unknown species discovered in 2013 within the Rising Star caves. The building itself boasts an innovative design combining natural elements such as grassy mounds with sleek modern steel finishes.
Truly a wonderful place to visit, the atmosphere was nice and chill, the staff was warm and welcoming. The tour guide truly knocked it out of the park, very knowledgeable, and a natural and interesting presentation of all the information. Engaging.
And the activities were very interactive, great place for all ages, literally! I was quite impressed. We will definitely be visiting again when the caves re-open.

You have to buy tickets online .no cash or cards accepted there. Guide was informed as best he could . It's a pity we were rushed as I did want to question him about his facts. The inside is still in fair condition but they will have to start paying attention to the museum as not everything is working. Boat ride was fun .also they have no proper signage to indicate where to go or exit .we had to go in by ourselves and had no idea once we got out how to get back to the parking . Food options don't even bother .run down with no options and I'm guessing overpriced. They where running a special for R100 which for that amount was worth it . Staff friendly enough

This was my second visit to the visitor center - the first being maybe ten years ago, and while it is still a fabulous venue and well worth the trip out, it is definitely looking a little worn around the edges. This is one of the most important museums in my opinion that shows the evolution of the Human species. It is located in the so called Cradle of Humankind where some of the oldest hominid fossils have been discovered. The museum is a great idea but unfortunately suffers from a lack of execution. The people who work there I am sure do their best but a lot of the exhibits don’t work, don’t have a very coherent theme so the story of what the museum is about doesn’t come alive. It could have been so much more. I would still highly recommend visiting this museum

A must see if you’re close by and are interested in history, evolution and enjoy museums. R100 for a basic tour and a tube ride underground into a simulated cave that show cases the elements of life.
The caves are flooded at the moment and we were not able to walk through them, which was a bit of a bummer. The guide advised that they might be open end of August for anyone who is keen on that.
There’s some amazing views with a restaurant at the hotel and another food court. There are some shops to purchase merchandise.
I’d like to return to the caves when they’re open.

A must do if you want to give your kids a learning experience. We loved the entire experience complete with human fossils, a walk through time on the elements, a water ride and breathtaking views. Just phone ahead to check if the caves are open as they are susceptible to flooding and may be closed.

This is a great place. The main museum is very child friendly and the new exhibition on the first floor is very interesting and educational.
The only problem is that many of the interactive exhibits need repair.
Jeff Bulled — Google review
The halls are impressive, and beautiful, and the place is clean and tidy. The bathrooms were clean. The staff were friendly and happy to help.
My family found the fossils interesting. Unfortunately, some of the walls with writing were in colours that are very difficult to read. The exhibition rooms could also flow better with more of a logical progression.
The underground raft ride was fun, but it would have been nice to have some explanation along the way as to what the different areas are, otherwise it was a bit abstract.
The reason for the poor rating is because a lot of things were ‘out of order’. And seems like although the place was clean, there is no maintenance. I’m sure with a lot of fixing the experience would be great.

Now this was a mind blowing experience and very informative. Not knowing what you to expect and getting the experience we did at the Cradle of Humankind was very inspiring and a must visit for both adults and children. It's a very educational experience.
Learning about the evolution of man is something we take for granted. Also the tube on the water is absolutely amazing. Traveling through and seeing the different stages of life, ice age, stone age, iron age etc was unreal. Everything is brought to life so beautifully.
If there is anywhere is South Africa that deserves a visit, it is the Maropeng Cradle of Humankind. To those who invented the design structure and entire idea, well done. Truly inspiring

We visited the Maropeng visitor site as a family and educational outing. This was the only option as the Sterkfontein caves are still close due to flooding. The tour was basic and a bit rushed and left you with a feeling of what just happened. Even though the site is 19 years old, the displays seems outdated and most stuff is out of order. Considering the budget allocated to arts and culture is R18.8 billion and the fact they charge you R120 for a toasted cheese sandwich, no ham or bacon, and R23 for a 200ml water, you expect a little more. Lets hope by the time the caves re open, it will not be a disappointment.

Amazing. The cave system is huge. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and kept the whole tour on track.
Beware, this can be a physically tough tour. Lots and lots of steps, steep incline and declines and very, very tight squeezes through the tunnel system. Hiking boots or trainers are the only suitable shoes.
This is a magical place. The geology and history of mankind locked in these caves is stunning.
When you exit the cave system, take a moment to appreciate the highveld scenery... It is breathtaking

The cave tour was really nice, something you should definitely do once. Our tour guide was AMAZING, (Think his name was Mfanna) very Historical, knowledgeable and full of fun jokes... Keep up the great service- Even the restaurant and bathrooms were sparkling clean and the food was great! The Museum building that you can walk through before or after your tour is also packed with lots of interesting historical findings.
Spend some time (reading) in the museum before your cave tour because you are a bit tired afterwards to do so. There are ALOT of stairs/steps, some parts of the cave are muddy and other parts are very dusty, but overall I enjoyed it so much.

O my, this was an amazing experience. I would definitely recommend it 👌.
Take a flashlight, you definitely want to see everything in there.
Wear comfortable clothes and shoes, there are a few narrow spots that you have to climb through. It is a total workout, lots of stair climbing. Have something to drink afterwards at the restaurant.
Enjoy the experience!

Our learners were very excited to learn new things and get to see and touch different historical pieces they only read in books such as the Millennium Sundial time track, this was an amazing experience. I would definitely recommend it to other schools👌. It's also a place to visit for families too. You just need to take a flashlight, you definitely want to see everything in there.
Moreover this couldn't have been that exciting if it had not been for the well informed Tour guide we had, Mr Kamogelo. Thank you and keep it up.

This was such great fun with a professional friendly guide who took us through the caves and explained everything in detail. There is an area to sit at where one can order food and drinks. Great way to spend a Sunday.
The only thing i did not like is seeing how people litter with their masks and hair nets. Not cool. Throw your litter away and respect our earth.

Impressive caves with a rich history and importance for humanity. Nearly all of the publicly available parts of the cave are lit, the slopes are cut into stairs and the path is covered in thick anti-slippery floor mats.
The cave has many halls of impressive size, with the most impressive perhaps being the Elephant hall.
The guides are knowledgeable and friendly and you are certain to get a good history lecture on the fossils found in the cave.
Bringing children is not a problem, but infants and toddlers will be a bit challenging, though not impossible. They have no toddler-sized helmets and there is one steep and narrow descending passage while leaving the cave which requires you to crunch down while simultaneously holding your child in your arms, which requires some agility and dexterity.
The Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden is a large and peaceful botanical garden in Roodepoort, Johannesburg. The garden has several picnic areas, birdwatching trails and indigenous plants and wildlife. It is one of the great escapes of Johannesburg, and is great for the entire family to enjoy.
A wonderful place to find some peace in the city. The garden is pure pleasure for bird lovers and for those interested in our rich heritage of indigenous plants. Remember: Tuesdays are Pensioners Day and entry is free. PS: the restaurant is not bad either.

Beautiful park with a lovely waterfall. Great for picnics and hiking. Lovely place to spend a day in the great outdoors. Went on a busy day with a nice flea market and live performances.
Great place for kids and adults alike, the kids play area was also good. The swings could be better maintained and so could be the toilets.
Restaurant was okay too.

I love this gem of serenity in the midst of our urban jungle. The eagles were in full view today. My boys did the hike up the hill to get a closer view of their nests while I relaxed at the waterfall. We hadnt been to the park in a while and I had forgotten how serene it could be especially on a weekday morning. Kids will enjoy the wide open spaces with ample place to play, the rock walk and the swings. A definite must visit if you are looking some time out in nature.

Very beautiful, well maintained clean park. Cash is not accepted in the ticket counter. Those who don't have debit or credit cards, ask help from other travelers and pay them cash.
At the end of the park, there is water fall.
Park your car at your own risk. There are security guards at the parking lot. Bolt taxi is available in this area.
Good place for photographers. There is no need to get permission to take pictures using a tripod and a professional camera.

Beautiful 😍😍😍
The hike is amazing, it's not too long, but brace yourself for the steep. It's about 5km.
There are picnic spots and a restaurant. If you have a lot to carry from your car to the picnic spots, then worry not. There are several people in the parking lots with trolleys who will accompany you and all your things for R20.
Words are not enough to describe the beauty of this place, you just have to go see it for yourself 😊

One of if not the best parks in Johannesburg!
They have lots of picnic areas, I love the many benches you find around in the gardens (look out for them), they also have a restaurant where you can buy food or you can bring your own.
Love coming here, especially during the week as some weekends its just too full.
Great for the entire family, great place for you to cone enjoy the out doors and spend time with your loved ones.
Keep up the great work👌🏿👏🏿👌🏿👏🏿👌🏿

A truly fantastic botanical garden, offering a range of casual walks and rugged geological hiking trails for more adventurous sightseers.
The gardens are well laid out and kept in stunning condition.
There's plenty for the whole family to do, including play parks and trails for younger children, a beautiful restaurant and lots of open space to sit down, relax, and enjoy the view.
The centre point of the gardens is the waterfalls, which is an absolute must see. There's a rugged path that leads to the top of the falls and up into the surrounding hills. It's tough going, hard on the knees but the views make it altogether worthwhile.
Will definitely be back 😀

Very special place to visit. The gardens are beautiful despite the time of year (autumn). Spotted the resident eagles soaring above the falls. Enjoyed THE BEST toasted sandwich and chips served by incredibly efficient, helpful, and friendly staff. Deffinately will be visiting again soon

Absolutely beautiful.
Restroom facilities are not that great, but they are functioning and well maintained.
There is a restaurant there, but it closes an hour earlier than the gardens.
There are many beautiful paths to walk with benches along the route.
The outdoor gym is easy to find, and water fountains work.

A perfect spot to go and relax in nature. It is a short drive from either Pretoria or Johannesburg. If you want to do a lunch or picnic please use plastic containers like Tupperware because they do not have bin's for rubbish. Don't bring disposable cutlery. Respect Nature.

I have always wanted to visit and finally did for a family reunion. What a beautiful garden/park. Clean, peaceful and so beautiful. The obvious crowning glory is the waterfall. What a beautiful sight 😍. Beautiful hiking paths and shady spaces for a relaxing picnics. Loved the walk through the shade paths along the river and the description of the various rock formations. Definitely will go back to climb up cliff to see the black eagles.

The Gold Reef City Theme Park is an amusement park located in Johannesburg, South Africa. It has rides and attractions for all ages and contains some of the most thrilling theme park rides in the country. The amusement park is famous for its Crown Mines tour, which takes you down an abandoned shaft from where gold was mined centuries ago.
Amazing place to visit but I have to say plan in advance for this place, step one arrive very early to catch almost all the busy rides, like Anacondas, the trains and so on, 30min after the place open expect to wait about 30 to 1:30min for a single ride that last a minute. Be prepared to walk a lot, like a lot of walking is required there. The 4D experience was amazing just that they have one movie you can not make a choice, I love the fact that you bring your own food and you can buy food in there too. Online purchase is recommended when you arrive, so if you already know you are going buy ticket online. The part I don’t get is both adult and kids pay R250 even though there are rides the kids can not have access to. I have to say overall it’s ideal place to visit. I enjoyed myself after.
Sifiso Nkosinathi Nobela — Google review
Without a doubt a fantastic place to come. I don't know anywhere else in Africa to go for a theme park that comes close to this. I do suspect the staff of keep rides closed for a while for people not to have continuous rides. If you can come on a slow day it is very enjoyable. Especially if enjoy getting a rush from the free falling feeling. There are rides for the whole family and restaurants all over. Even carnival games some of which are very unlikely to win anything. Some are easy wins

Still nice place to see and feel the vibe of humans relaxing. The biggest problem us waiting to get into rides. Could barely manage a few during the day. Advice to all find a day it is not so busy.

Cleverly out together, this disused open shaft mine cum now theme park caters well for children and those who are children at heart for all things playful. It's definitely not for the faint hearted and most of the rides are for the taller (above 1.5m I think) kids. There is also a kids section for the toddlers and infants.

I took my niece on Friday, 8 April 2022, her first time. It was enjoyable. It wasn't too busy. We paid R250 pp, that was a bit steep to be honest. She's 9yrs old, that was a bit much. We had tons of fun and made use of most of the rides. The lady at the ticketing place selling tickets for the Gold pour and the mine tour is a rude and miserable individual, certainly not the kind to be at a theme park and dealing with patrons. The gentleman at the Gold pour exhibition directed us to her to purchase our tickets. He was the most polite, friendliest people, along with the lady who did our tour of the mine. Those two deserve an accolade, they made our experience exceptional.

My family and I were booked in at the theme park hotel. Staff were friendly. The hotel room was fine. As for the swimming pool water, well that was green so my husband and kids could not swim in it.
My kids were thrilled to go on rides, watch 4D videos etc. However the queues are ridiculously long. Sadly there is no exception for those staying inside the theme park. It would be nice if they could give hotel residents access to the rides an hour before opening to the public.
There should be a limitation on the amount of people allowed access daily into the theme park so that everyone gets to make use of the rides instead of standing tirelessly (during a heatwave) in queues to get on.
People are allowed in from around 9am/9:30am but the gates to the rides aren't open so you have to start queuing already which I find really annoying. To top it off they close the gates to rides from around 4pm when the theme park closes @ 5pm. I do understand that this is within the peak season however I seriously hope management does something about this.

I have very fond memories of coming here in my childhood, so I was rather excited to visit as an adult ( I'm still short, but tall enough for the rides now). Besides the historical attractions for which is famed, recent upgrades and additions have been made turning out into a proper theme park. We went on a weekday to avoid the crowd, it was still pretty busy with a few school day trips taking place and bus loads of tourists. The rides provide enormous fun for ppl of all ages. You are well catered for regarding food, as there are kiosks and restaurants dotted about. For those with no interest in the park, there is also a hotel and casino.
Seanan Wai — Google review
You have to buy your tickets online, which, for me, makes things more convenient. There are the friendliest guys on stilts, painted gold, wearing mining type outfits, helping and directing people to where they must go, the line at the kiosk to get the tickets wasn't long and the staff are very friendly and efficient so it moves quickly. I got in free because it was my birthday and you get a separate line for that ticket which also moved fast.... had the best day, great food available all over, the lines for the adult rides were a bit insane but I didn't go for that, walked around, explored the "city" the fun train was cool with the tunnel that turns, kinda makes it feel like the train is tipping, my son (6) had a blast on the kids rides and before we knew it the day was over.... I guess time does fly when you're having fun!
Leigh-Anne Frame — Google review
We had an absolute blast!!
The Online Ticket booking is convenient and fast and definitely helps the queues at the entrance going very fast and efficient.
The only downside of our visit was definitely the extremely long lines at the rides, we had to wait 40 minutes to an hour for the rides but I do take in consideration that it was the first day of the school holidays. It was very crowded. It's also very frustrating when the boards cleary states "no place keeping" and crowds of people move past you to their friends infront of you making you wait even longer. I do suggest that the staff be more strict about this.
Other than that, all the rides worked!
The staff from the gates to the operators at the rides were very friendly.
The bathrooms are very clean which is very impressive if you take in account the amount of people there during the day so big thumbs up on that!
Huge variety of restaurants and places to buy cool drinks and snacks during the day.
It's a nice outing for friends and for the whole family with the rides and games for the kids as well.
Overall nice experience!

The place has beautiful scenery Especially on the helicopter ride and the ferries wheel 🎡 .The staff there is super friendly and helpful. We had the absolute best time spending the day here. Remember to buy the tickets online and get there early and even when you do this, you will have to queue for wristbands to enter the theme park. I suggest doing the most popular rides early to avoid crazy long queues. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of rides available. Lots of places to eat. Clean bathrooms. Even though the tickets are pricey, it is value for money. My kids had a blast and I felt young again.

Everyone should go there. Very beautiful and fun.

Lastly , for those who want to throw their little ones a party, there is a very nice venue there.

Gold Reef City has always been a popular theme park. The roller coaster rides provide your body with an adrenaline rush, making you feel alive. A scream of joy, fear, and exhilaration!
The park is very clean and well maintained, and there are plenty of food stalls throughout the park for you to choose from!
I would not recommend visiting the park during the holidays because there are far too many people, especially during the December holidays, and you end up standing in line for hours and only being able to ride a few of the rides! Try to go on a Thursday or Friday when it is a little quieter. Then you can truly enjoy the exciting rides!
Remember to book online and to wear comfortable shoes.

Decided to have an adults day out at the theme park. I haven't been for over 10 years, and I was pleasantly surprised by how the park still runs. The park is incredibly clean (including the toilets), the rides are fun, there are so many places to eat. The entry fee is a bit steep, but if you intend on going on all the rides then it's worth it. The food places are average priced.
The only issue was the wait for the rides and for food, but we also visited on a public holiday so it was understandably busy.
All in all it was a great day out. Kids love it, but expect to fork out a lot of money for the day, so budget and save wisely beforehand.

1. Go in the morning! Or else you only do 2 rides and queing the whole day.
If you want to enjoy the rides, do not go on a public holiday or month end... go on a random day during the week.
2. Don't carry a handbag. Be free and ready to have fun.
3. They sell food.

Fun for Everyone at Gold Reef City!
This was my first time visiting Gold Reef City as a dad with my kids. It was a fantastic experience for everyone! The rides in the kid's area were clean, well-maintained, and perfect for little ones. The kids had a blast.
Another big plus is the new online ticketing system. It's convenient and saves time waiting in line. However, I did notice a potential issue with redeeming tickets if someone in your group can't make it. To avoid this hassle, I recommend planning carefully and buying tickets for the exact number of people attending. If you're unsure, consider getting smaller group tickets. That way, if someone has to miss out, you can redeem the ticket on another visit.
In short, Gold Reef City is a great place for a family day out. The rides, cleanliness, and online ticketing system all impressed me. Just be mindful of the ticket redemption policy when planning your trip.
Oh, and no food or drinks can be “imported”.

We went through on the Friday and slept over in the theme park hotel and then spent the Saturday as well. We went after the peak season so it was nice and quiet with no waiting lines which was nice for the children. All the staff that we spoke to were very friendly and accommodating. The place was so clean and well looked after.
When sleeping over you get access to the park. I would suggest price wise to rather spend a night there and get access to the park for 2 days.
Would definitely visit again.

The apartheid museum is a museum in Johannesburg, South Africa that celebrates the end of white-minority rule in South Africa through its informative displays on the history of apartheid. The museum allows visitors to experience segregation based on race by separating them into different groups according to their features, including skin color, size of nose, kinks in hair and language used. This highly recommended museum also highlights the progress made by South Africa since the end of apartheid with its various exhibits.
A must in Joburg. Only open Thursday to Sunday and bank holidays, we were lucky to be there on Easter Monday.
You have to see this museum to help you understand/recollect/refresh your memory of this insane period in time. I was sickened. I left the museum twice to get air. I left the visit with dark clouds over my head, so I suppose that can give you an idea of just how good this museum actually is. Photos inside the museum are forbidden, but my link with accessibility forced me to take one photo ... "For every person that died, three people were left with a disability..."
This just added to my dark clouds.

Very, very interesting and eye opening experience for us at the Apartheid Museum. We went there as part of a private tour and only allotted two hours. So, unfortunately we only made it until 1970 before having to depart. We recommend four hours to see everything included.
We were a group of two visiting on a weekday so there was no lines, not very busy and no need to buy tickets in advance.
We really enjoyed our time here and would recommend visiting when you travel to Johannesburg.

One of THE BEST museums you’ll find. So wrong experience. Very moving. Extremely well done. Even if you o may have ½ an hour, it’s so worth the 150 Rand per person. You could spend hours and hours there but it’s worth even a short and speedy trip. Just deploy your speed-reading skills - you’ll need it.

We absolutely loved our experience. We arrived early and took our time. Although I'd recommend it for older kids. My 16 year old wanted to spend all morning here, however my 14 and 10year old soon became hungry and tired. The museum is brilliantly set up with up-to-date information. Not much in way of food but conveniently located near the casino which had restaurants as well fast food places nearby..100%recommended as a day out in JHB.

Must go to the Apartheid Museum! A wealth of history, so powerful and well presented. Tour guide is recommended. There are a few details you might miss otherwise. And the museum is very large, so the guide helps you move along a bit quicker without missing anything.

This is one of the best organised and thoughtfully designed historical museums I've visited in a while. When you enter the museum, you are immediately challenged to empathise with people who lived under Apartheid rule.
It compares favourably to the Holocaust Museum in Washington, DC. Although we had two hours, we could easily have used another hour. If you read English, you do not need a guide.
NOTE: no photos can be taken once you enter.

The museum overall was an okay experience, I've seen better and have been treated better. The staff in the Cafe on the other hand were another story. Disgusting, rude and malicious! The specific person has been identified in the photos attached. I explained to her that I disliked the sauce they put on my burger and she got IRRATE IMMEDIATELY! She slammed the food carton top down on my hands while I was showing her what I was speaking about and then snatched the carton from me. These photos are the aftermath, she thinks it's funny and smirks about her childish behavior. Just UGLY...

Museum is very well done and artistic too. Great transition though history in South Africa. I did this on a day Joburg tour, 2 hours is sufficient to see everything and read. Goes well with visiting Soweto too, the township that is a key example of segregation, separation laws, and racism. Temporary exhibits on Mandela and Tutu are wonderful right now. No pictures to be taken inside. Right next to Gold Reef in case you also want to visit a casino and amusement park. Note, it is open 5 days a week now, so check the schedule.

If you're in the area, this should be a place to take in some historical truths. When walking through, not only can you recount the historical context of Apartheid, but one should be able to see its affects on natives of SA then and even now. Only then are we able to understand how truly devastating the systems of Apartheid IS. It's rather insightful and warrants actionable atonement. This is not meant for just another walk through another museum.

This museum is going to stir up something deep inside you. You are given either a ‘White’ or ‘Non-white’ card at the entrance which follow separate paths in the first section giving you a very clear insight into how life for South Africans have shaped up over the years.
The museum has plenty of excerpts, short movies, audio clips and a lot of info. You should definitely account for 3+ hours to really do justice to this museum.
Tickets are priced at 150 Rands as of 2023 and there’s plenty of parking available.

The museum is a mandatory stop in Johannesburg. It is the city's main attraction and essential for learning about the history of struggle of the South African people. As a grown man. I cried. The practice was so despicable that if you have only a degree of humanity, you will cry. I learned that apartheid was so inhuman that I couldn't understand how the world allowed it to go on for so long. The experience is something that is now fully on my soul. How the South African blacks and colored tolerated it for so long is still a mystery to me. If you come to South Africa, you must go right away so you can enjoy the rest of your trip.

Stunning well laid out museum. History of apartheid laid bare but not in a depressing way. Worth at least 4 hours of your time

The FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, located on Soccer City Ave in Nasrec, is a well-known landmark. Famous for hosting the 2010 soccer World Cup, it has now become a popular venue for major concerts, state events and sports. Its stunning architecture is admired by many with a capacity of 94 736 seats making it one of the largest stadiums in South Africa.
Enjoyed à good Diski Challenge game Chiefs vs Baroka. Final score 1-1. Giving support to my Son.

This place has a very rich history in terms of South African Sport, it was revamped for the 2010 soccer world cup.
Great atmosphere especially if you attendeding when your team is playing, it's safe to bring your whole family for an even more fun time.
With current Covid 19 regulations the verification process can be tedious if there's huge crowds but the staff were very knowledgeable and quick to process verification.
Overall it's an awesome beautiful venue to attend events at.

A well-built strong stadium that accommodated more than 94 000 on the EFF 10 year celebration anniversary. The stadium is so cleaned and toilets are all over

This is one of the most great soccer stadiums in Mzansi. Went there during SOWETO DERBY and the energy within the stadium is on another level. Different people that you come across and everything in between. Awesome place to be... Just be on guard for your belongings as they can get lost easily.

Was there for the Imagine Dragons show. It was amazing! Only bad things was that we were waiting in the line to buy food, waited an hour and left without food when the show started. Also when we were leaving, walking back to the busses, the gates were locked and we had to wait quite a while for it to be opened. But the show was stunning.

Great stadium to host massive events, it even provides some protection against weather for an open venue. I would strongly suggest creating a pin for where you park, the circular design makes it difficult to retrace your steps.

Buy tickets in advance especially for big games to avoid any issues at the gate. Get there early for easy access into the stadium. Otherwise wonderful experience I've had everytime I've gone there.

This is one of the stadia that was renovated for the iconic FIFA World Cup hosted in 2010.
It is a wonderful stadium located in the South of Johannesburg that hosts soccer, cycling, running, music, expo’s and a number of other events. Whenever an event is going to be hosted at FNB Stadium, just know that it’ll be huge! This is a 90,000 capacity stadium.
Should you attend an event here, get there well ahead of time. There is always plenty of parking available but, again, events hosted here are always massive so get here timeously. In terms of parking fees, some events make you pre-pay for parking, while others allow you to park at the venue. Always have change on hand to pay the car-guards.
The venue is easily accessible off the M1 and N1 highways. Just check with event organisers whether any road-closures are planned.
This venue is also popular with photoshoots. Should you wish to use the outside of the venue, you don’t particularly need a permit; however, should you require a photoshoot within the stadium itself, send a request well ahead of time.
It’s a beautiful venue; a must-see for any visitor to the city of Johannesburg.

Great venue for large events like Monster jam! Loved the seats we had and thoroughly enjoyed the show. Only negatives are that the sound from the commentators were terrible and we could not hear a word they were saying and the food services at the back are also not equipped to handle the large crowds are we were stading in que's for more than an hour just to be helped. For sure something to look into.

This is a brilliant football stadium, designed to lock-in the atmosphere from really huge and passionate crowds, up to 95000 strong. The Calabash is a monument to the hosting of the 2010 World Cup, and is in fact one of the standout successes that serves as a legacy to the country. There is only one game in any of our sporting codes that can really fill this venue, and that is the Soweto derby, one of the biggest games in world football! Road traffic management and better transport options would really assist in avoiding delays in reaching the stadium. Unfortunately one of the best options, namely the rail link from Park station, is no longer viable because of consistent cable theft.
Jim Paterson — Google review
I went to the calabash concert at the stadium, and the event organizers and workers did a really good job at handling so many people in and around the stadium. I was really impressed.
One thing to note is that you must be prepared to pay really high prices for food and drinks. R60 was the lowest price for a drink. For coke and other drinks was around R25 to R30.

FNB Stadium in Johannesburg, known for hosting the 2010 FIFA World Cup final, is a marvel of modern architecture with its African pottery-inspired design. It seats nearly 95,000, offering great views and an electric atmosphere, especially during major football matches and concerts. The stadium is well-equipped with facilities and is easily accessible, though it's wise to plan for traffic during big events. While food and drinks can be pricey, the overall experience is memorable, making it a top destination for sports and music fans in South Africa.
Yaseen Theba — Google review
I enjoyed the event I went there for, I however did not like the state of the toilet at the stadium. They were not clean, and they smelled.
Streets lights on the main street (Nasrec) don't work at all. That's a call for concern.
But in a nutshell, it's a beautiful stadium 🏟 I loved it.
Mzabantu Nkosi — Google review
Easily accessible location, lots of parking space- it could do with carports- seats are foldable and clean. The people who scan the tickets are quite friendly and the people who direct you to the level you'll be sitting at are good at maintaining order. The tuckshops sell loads of alcohol and there's people who are selling snacks like biltong & popcorn. The big screen is quite accommodating and the speakers are reasonably audible. The stadium is very clean by the way....10/10 to the cleaners. I can't comment on the toilets though, as I didn't go there.
Christine Nxumalo — Google review
Great looking stadium. The security was not ready to allow people to scan to enter. Scanners were not working at 4 gates. Eventually they let us in. Beautiful stadium, well maintained but the entry system needs to be optimised.
ST Kommal — Google review
Chaotic arrival and departure for Calabash. Surrounding traffic was horrendous, no clear signage, Uber pick-up almost unachievable.
Ticket system on arrival didn't work.
Ushers inside and outside were clueless.
Would never bother going back to any event at this venue.
Paid R 2 750 per ticket to sit in 3 inches of rainwater and pigeon crap.
A cleaner was coming, we're still waiting.

The Hector Pieterson Memorial and museum is located in Soweto, just two blocks from the spot where 12-year-old Hector was shot on the 16 June 1976 during the student uprising. The museum provides a stark look at life in South Africa during the days of apartheid through exhibits about the history of Soweto and the role of its people in the independence struggle.
Thou a great source of painful memories for black South Africans, it is a truly magnificent monument of historic truth and a display of courage for those who fought for black people to have equal right with white people. Even willing to rist their lives for us.
The tour guide was truly informative and it was awe inspiring to stand were courageous young men and women matched for the future to be brighter we will forever be grateful. Must see.

This place gives you more insight about the soweto uprisings, you get to experience the turmoil that occurred in Soweto. There are pictures and videos that were taken as the events were happening.
You get to relieve that era.
There are also volunteering sight guides who will help you navigate the memorial outside the museum.

I came here early Saturday morning. Before the heap of tourist buses arrives.
The museum is really good 👍 I spend almost an hour just taking it all in my own time.
You can have a guided tour if you want. I didn't feel the need.
It's such a huge historical monument. It's also a very planned layout. If you're a wheelchair user, you'll will not have a problem visiting here. It's incredibly accessible with ramps. Also It's walking distance from the Nelson Mandela house, too. People outside are very friendly and I meet Hectors sister Antoinette!! She does guided tours.

Only visited the outside and got a full explanation of the history and the meaning of the memorial. I'm sure there is a lot more to learn and see, but after visiting the Apartheid Museum just previous to visiting this site, my mind was spinning from learning specifics of the experience of South African Blacks/Natives.

It's quite dull. One has to read to understand the whole message. It would be good if they have guides to quicken the process especially for tourists. The reading is ideal for students not tourists.

I know The Memorial is very very important. I feel sad , because children were killed for no reason. I got depressed. I already knew history, but felt angry again. Memorial is very well organized. No one can turn away from the violence that happened; no one should. Main story is out of the building.
When you visit please do not think it is a museum; whole area is the idea. Try to understand what happened.

Lovely experience. No bookings needed, we paid for 14 tickets upon arrival (R23 for locals and R54 for tourists). A tour guide was provided however he did not take a moment to pause and check if the guests have questions. Our tour guide also expected a tip after the tour.
No pictures are allowed to be taken inside the museum.

The Mandela House, also known as the Nelson Mandela National Museum, is a museum located in Johannesburg that is dedicated to preserving the history of the Mandela family. The house was their former residence from 1946 until the 1990s when it was donated to the Soweto Heritage Trust. It is a must-visit place for those interested in learning more about one of South Africa's most iconic figures and his achievements.
Very interesting experience, although Nelson Mandela didn’t lived in this house for long, the information from documentation to awards is well displayed.
It is very positive that the price includes the guide but in the end you need to tip them.
S?nia Esteves — Google review
We had an historic experience there. If you’re visiting the place, it’s best to have a guide who would be explaining the ins and outs of the house.
Especially some of the memorabilia inside the house, our guide explained the belt he got from Sugar Ray Leonard, the letter in the cupboard, the setup of the house, the fire bombing of the house, the graves on the house, the umbilical cords of the children.
I’d recommend this for any traveller, especially for those who didn’t get to experience Mandela. You get to be up close and personal and feel like you knew Mandela.
It’s relatively affordable, we went during the Youth Day (16 June) and the fee was R40.

We took our kids here and they had a lot of questions about the furniture in the house. Took us all back in the days when we used coal stoves. The queue to enter was not long and we weren't many inside the house, we could maneuver around easily. What an interesting visit.

Great place to learn the history of Nelson Mandela in a relaxed way. A small cozy home filled with a lot of efucative memories, you can even visualise everything with the pictures that were taken way back. Very smart and well maintained. Friendly guides too. The street has nice restraurants and bars as well. Traditional dancers and so much entertainment. You will need cash with you to tip everyone. I loved the place.

Visiting here is like walking in the footsteps of a great man and through his life. To say the least it is a humbling experience.
The house is small but cosy. The renovations have certainly helped to restore the place and gives one a glimpse of the Mandela family life. The coal stove and bedroom are true replicas.
The volunteers who guide you through the tour shed a lot of light on the history and events associated with the home and family. It is inspiring to think that he came from such a simple background but went on to do such amazing things.
Note there are MANY groups performing traditional dances on the street outside. It’s fun to watch however they do expect a tip for their performance. This can be overwhelming on the wallet.

Our guide was a very knowledgeable college student/docent who shared a great deal about the history on the outside of the house. Once inside, we were left to roam through the small house on our own, which was actually perfect because it was a typical modest home. It is a glimpse into the past, personal life, and living space of the Mandela family. I appreciate that the family made it into a museum, and the state designated it as historic.

The Location is near the main road, community is so friendly and the area is very safe. The house on the outside has the vintage look and the atmosphere from the yard into the house is so touching, you may end up loosing your self with the amount of history and being inside the house of the heroes

Interesting to see but definitely wouldn't say it is a must see. The entrance costs 60rand and the house itself is very small with much of the surrounding area full of touristic gifts and restaurants.
If planning to visit, I would recommend that it isn't out of your way because the house itself was underwhelming for me.
Leonard — Google review
Not a lot to see, per say. The building surrounding the house gives the impression that it's a lot to see. It's like any other shack in Soweto. Furniture and some personal items. There are no pictures allowed inside and no video on premises. But having said that. Once you leave out from the house, the whole street is alive and popping. Zulu dancing men in complete costumes. They put on a very energetic show for you. The street vendors are everywhere and will pressure you to buy. Everything is negotiable and worth the hassle. Keep your money close to you, and don't flash large sums. There are guides there that direct you to parking, give him 50 Rands, and it's worth it. He will keep the non vendors from begging you. Can't think of anything else of importance, but as detailed as I am trying to be, nothing compares to the experience. None African pay more for admission. YOLO

Absolutely amazing. Great value for money. Safe and secure. Entrance fee plus car fee payable at gate via card. 3 Different Hike options/trails. Beautiful scenery. Good for kids and beginners. After Hike we took a spectacular 66km drive in the nature reserve and saw troops of monkeys, zebras, buffalo and antelope. I recommend snacks for the car as it is a full/half day experience. There was wheelchair friendly paths however I did not review them. I was stunned to find such a hidden gem!

Intermediate hike, and I say that because it’s a bit rocky and steep for most of the hike so you get tired easily.
We saw a baboon on our hike and a lot of little insects.
The markings are there but not very clear and the map they provide is not really the greatest either.
We went March 2024 and they DON’T accept cash, card payment only. Entrance fee was R45pp AND R35 per car.
Come with a sun hat as the routes aren’t shaded for the most part.

I went for a hike here with some friends. The entrance fee was atound 50 per person and around 30 for vehicle access. We could not use cash when we visited. There
wildlife to be seen and there is not much here besides the hikes and a self drive around. However, it seems excellent for cycling, and there were quite a few cyclists. It is very safe. The park is beautiful, and the hiking trail is excellent. There is almost no litter at all. The hike is a good deal harder than hennops and cradlemoon, so be warned. iMy watch tells me it was an 1800m elevation ii over 11.7 km. I would highly recommend this to anyone who likes hiking. FYI, there is no implacable implacable implacable iiiiiito one one 6666⁶66666or drinks here. I imagine it could get very hot here. The 10 kilometres trail is challenging with about 400-450m elevation gain. It’s marked, but I felt like some spots also needed markings in between. There’s no shops so you have to bring your own snacks and drinks. There’s braai area available to use so you can have a nice picnic with family afterwards. They don’t sell anything so bring everything you want to eat 👊🏽. There’s guards at the main entrance, then plenty of parking inside. Overall, I am gonna go back again, it’s good.

Great hiking experience at Suikerbosrand thanks to Mr. Buthelezi who went out of his way to help us. The hike itself was beautiful, with amazing views over the Suikerbosrand valley and stunning wildlife. We hiked an overnight trail and slept in the springbok hut. There is a roofed braai area with enough seating, outside tap, hut with 3 rooms and mattresses. Also a room outside with a toilet, basin and shower. They also have a service where they take your extra luggage to the hut if needed. I just wish they had more information online about the different huts and rules.
We booked in advanced and there was some miscommunication over where we are allowed to park our vehicles. We wanted to keep one vehicle at the hut since one lady was not hiking with us the first day, but only the second, since the first day hike was a bit tuff and she is diabetic. We areanged this in advance, but when we got there, they told us that it is not allowed to keep a vehicle at the hut. When we booked, we asked for a confirmation email or reference number, but they said they don't do email. However when we got there, Mr. Buthelezi asked us where our email correspondence was. A lot of miscommunication, but luckily when we arrived Mr. Buthelezi helped us sort it out. I will post some images of the springbokhut for those interested, since there is no images of the springbok hut online.

Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve is the most peaceful place that I've ever visited. It is completely silent and you do not see signs of civilisation while you're hiking. So you feel like you're far away from Johannesburg, but the city is less than an hour away.
It's only 20 minutes away from The Glen Shopping Centre in Oakdene and about 25 minutes from Klipriviersberg Nature Reserve.
If you're hiking in summer bring lots of cold water, if you can freeze it it's even better. It's hot in Suikerbosrand.
The hills are layed out on a vast landscape, walking here feels like a meditation.

Loses one star just because there does not seem to be any maintenance happening. Entrance especially is full of weeds and not all that appealing looking... but don't be put off, it's a lovely spot in side.

What a wonderful, well-kept secret. I wish the failure of provincial government was not so stark though. The place is falling to pieces with zero maintenance and the litter on the trails, in the parking lot and picnic area was very disappointing.
However, in saying this, the hikes are challenging with a few to choose from.
Paradise for cyclists as there is plenty of space for them to ride in freedom and lower risk from motorists.
The staff at the main gate were friendly. We were given an information pamphlet at the gate. While fairly informative, the pamphlet was carelessly put together, with a page missing but another one duplicated. It took us (and several other guests) a few minutes to find out where the trails start as the signage is faded and very poor. Once you find your way all is well and the trails are more than adequately marked.
I do feel that it is worth the visit, I just wish that effort was put in by those who have been trusted to do so. You have failed and are allowing a gem to decay! A little effort can change everything.

Absolutely fabulous every time. You meet people you have forgotten about and meet new friends.
The Bikes are a must - relive the past and all the drama.
And then you cant find a better place to have a Bikers Breakfast in good company.

Lovely motorcycle museum in Deneysville. Some stunning older models as well as newer models. Great examples of bikes and well curated and well kept. Lovely bar and restaurant as well as guestrooms

Stepping into a time capsule. If you are a motorcycle fan then this is the place to visit there are so much history and weird and fun facts scattered all around the place almost like a easter egg hunt. The owner is also quite a funny character. There is not much else to do in the general area. I would recommend this place if you are in the area.
You must phone & book before going there, really good value for money & will go back again with my child

Tours given at the Dell are informative and offer a unique opportunity to see healthy, happy cats living in large, clean enclosures. They are very well cared for.
I volunteered at the Dell for the first time in 2013, and loved it so much I ended up staying almost an extra month. I have also been back in 2015.
It was such a wonderful experience, working hands on with the cats. I learned so much. Part of the attraction is the beautiful landscape on and around the property. Also, the meals prepared for us were always top notch. I can't wait to go back!

Horrible owner. We drove all the way and nothing was mentioned about tour times. Nothing was mention on the website. Also didnt have a card machine. Very unprofessional, rude, bad manners, shouldn't be in this business because she doesnt know anything about customer service. Didnt feel welcome at all and ended up driving away without seeing anything on a very bad road for 5 kms. Need a 4 by 4 car and after all this the owner didnt even make a plan. What you would expect from a Parys farmer mentality. Not world class or cosmopolitan at all like we are used to. These people shouldn't be in business as they dont know how to deal with other cultures or ethnically groups. Foreign visitors stay away as you will be shocked at the level of the owner of this place. Kindly visit other cheetah places.

Sadly the presentation although informative could have been more professional it was definitely marred by the person giving the presentation running down the other Cheetah rehabilitation centres and making wild statements about the people who run them. The lack of refreshments on an extremely hot day is a huge oversight I feel one should be reminded on the web page to bring water with as no refreshments are available. The lack of animals made me feel cheated out of my money.

Great place doing great work. They have more than just cheetah. Learnt a lot about cheetah and felt very welcome. At the time of my visit they had no real cheetah release program, however they do have the space and passion to be able to rehabilitate and release one day. They are self funded and require the donations of the public and help of their 'live in' voulenteers who come from around the world.
Definitely worth a visit.

Now this was just AMAZING!!! Well needed training for 1st Solo jump makes you think you are at the wrong place with the wrong idea and need to keep you feet on the ground. Hectic scary training of what all can go wrong, but Oom Johan you are the absolute best. Makes it all feel so real before the jump. Then getting up there with the wind blowing by 180km/h feel like you are gona die. Just jump and got a line twist 1 on the 1st jump, remembered my training and boom all goes as planned. Thank you Chris and the team, makes you feel right at home. Love this place will be finishing my License in Parys. See you again in a few weeks... 11/10

Absolutely mind-blowing! The experience was fantastic and ... yes ... completely life changing. The setting is excellent, access easy, logistics and information and communication superb. The vibe and the team and the humour on top of excellent organisation, makes this an easy and unreserved recommended option for anyone wishing to take their leap into a new future.

Absolutely amazing!!!! WHAT AN EXPERIENCE! The team is so friendly and puts everyone at ease as to how the jump will go. And then the jump itself, SENSATIONAL!!!! A definite must do, and I cannot wait to do it again.

My son's friends organized him a tandem jump as a bachelor's party surprise. Having never jumped myself my wife and I were apprehensive to say the least.... What a fantastic adventure it turned out to be. The staff are enthusiastic and highly trained - many of them beig either ex- or current military jumpers. From the outset one gets the impression that this outfit is organised and highly disciplined. Humorous quirks take the edge off when they detect nervousness setting in. Everyone had a great day. I can highly reccommend this operation. Top notch!

A really amazing experience! The team that takes care of you makes the best jokes and makes you feel at ease. It really added to the experience.
After your free fall, you get to see amazing views of parys and the vaal river and dam.
Would recommend the option to be recorded as the edits they do are really nice
The world's largest, this vast 2-billion-year-old impact crater includes 4 towns & a granite dome.
Took a tour with a local guide. Stunning and informative. A very special place. Unfortunately, there is no public visitors centre or information centre. The UNESCO site represents a very small area of this huge geological feature, and seems to be located mostly on private properties

Refined hotel with a casino & a spa, plus dining, 3 cocktail bars & an outdoor pool.
The staff is helpful and friendly. The food is delicious, best veggies ever. The pool area is clean and spacious for accommodation of many people. There are chairs to sit and umbrellas for shade

Rooms and environment are great, just don't eat there! The food is really not acceptable. We were a big group and on our final night we went to town, bought fast food and ate in the carpark!

Avani Lesotho Hotel and Casino, located in an elevated position in Maseru, offers guests a splendid view of the city and the surrounding mountainous terrain. While the hotel provides great accommodation and facilities, including a gym and pool, and offers delightful dining experiences, it is evident that the property is showing its age. A few modern renovations could significantly enhance its appeal and functionality.
The rooms and public areas, though comfortable and well-maintained, would benefit from updates to bring them in line with contemporary standards of style and comfort. Modernizing the decor, upgrading the technological amenities, and refreshing the overall aesthetic could rejuvenate the hotel’s ambiance, making it even more inviting and competitive in the hospitality market.
Despite the need for some updates, the hotel's location and its inherent charm, coupled with the relaxing scenery and the convenience of on-site amenities like a casino, make it a commendable choice. With potential renovations, Avani Lesotho Hotel and Casino could easily elevate its status, ensuring it remains a highly recommended destination for those visiting Maseru.

Was sent away when I was 10 minutes early for breakfast.
Then, I was chastised for grabbing a random spoon to serve as no serving spoon was available. Staff think and act like they are running a school canteen. Rude and poorly trained hospitality staff make for lousy experience in this beautiful country.

I had a wonderful time here, the people are so kind in Lesotho, the food was great. Everything from malls and food outlets are just nearby. But all the iconic landmarks in Lesotho are hours away.

Had one of the worst stays at Avani hotel and casino, staff not very pleased looking (looks unhappy) They had over booked them selves so settled for a room with less value Doesnt do the bare minimum of greeting. Customer services is horrific had to wait an hour + for a cocktail and almost 2 hours for my main meal. Beds are extremely uncomfortable, resorted on sleeping on the floor. Carpets across the hotel extremely dirty and has stains, 60% of the time lift do not work. Aircons leak water onto the carpet leaving the room smell extremely bad. Room services is also has unreliable as all their services. The food is really not the best tasting. Housekeeping ladies just walk into your room with no knocking. overall a very unpleasant stay at Avani

Had a good week spent at the Avani on business in late March 2023. Rooms were good size, well stocked and kept very clean. All the things you'd need for a comfortable stay. Service was very good, and I was honestly perplexed at the reviews discussing slow or inadequate responses to requests. Everyone to a person was friendly, responsive and did their best to respond. Breakfast was quite a spread of options to chose and different each day. I had dinner most evenings while working at the bar (yes actually working) and the selection of menu items did not disappoint. Food was always spot on, hot and again, easy to make changes or modifications to address dietary restrictions. Would visit again no question. Only challenge is it isn't in the city, so any venturing requires so effort.

A very amazing place to be with friends and have great drinks at, I would give the whole place a solid 9.5/10 and the customer service 8 because we didn’t quite get what we wanted but it’s fine they provided solutions so I would say I want to go back.

Everything was great! We checked out of Lancers Inn (noise all night from clubs across the road!) and arrived at the Avani Lesotho at 07h30. Check in was 14h00 but they made a plan and got a room ready by 08h30 for us - great service!
The food is superb, the views are great, rooms extra comfy & quiet, the decor is amazing and Eddie the chef is proud of his food! Definitely a 5-star experience!!

Went there for lunch, was not worth it. Everything is run down and not much choice on food. Plus the doors are always open so anyone can walk in and it's super hot. The staff is helpful. I think for such a hotel you want a much more luxury or comfortable stay.
Clerista Govindsamy — Google review
The hotel is showing its age in some places, maintenance may be required... It is not pretty from the outside, inside is an impressive experience with large volume areas, but all with a dated feel. Food is good, no complaints, and breakfast included provides you with lots of options. I think the pool was out of order, one lift not working and the other super slow so you can camp in the lobby waiting to go up/down.
Views can be great or not good, onto plant areas, depending on room. The building felt hot and ancient aircons from the 80's in the rooms has limited effectiveness.
Otherwise the place is clean and service friendly. Despite its shortcomings a nice place to stay.

Worst experience ever with the hotel manager and the stuff. The was an issue which the hotel reception made when I checked in, she put the wrong information on the system which did not talk to my reservation, when I came back from my evening meeting the security gave us a problem when accessing our rooms, the reception and the line manager did not want to fix the problem which they created, waiting on the reception for 2 hours with them going back and forth, this people even had the audacity of asking me to pay more money over and above what I paid.
So the service is very very bad, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel at all which is a pity since the infrastructure of this hotel is great, they have the best pool, best views but the services which should be top tier for a 5 start hotel that attracts international travellers is very poor, i didn’t enjoy my weekend at all.
I would recommend this place at all just for the awful services, I guess they do not care since they the only 5 start hotel.
Oh and their bar is way overpriced.

The rooms are neat and clean but fairly standard. The spraying of the shower rose didn't work that well for me. Otherwise the staff at the hotel is very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely come back again, hopefully the shower will be better.

Disastrous, appalling service tantamount to fraud
I paid for the Christmas luncheon on 20 December 2023 upon arrival in Lesotho; subsequently cancelled it timeously prior to the actual luncheon on Christmas. I was assured that, provided that I furnished them with my proof of banking details, identification and confirmatory receipt for the luncheon, I would be refunded. That was done on 24 December 2023 when I left the country. It has now been over a month, with repeated requests of when I may expect to be refunded my money, to no avail. The staff are non-responsive and tardy - a bunch of shysters! The service is a far cry from discerning.
