Visited this little gem January 2024. A great place to experience wild swimming in a creek amongst the fishes. Water is clear and cool and we had great fun sliding down the natural stone slides. A fab place to cool off. Reef water shoes recommended as rocks can be very slippery.

Devils leap is a Great place to be on the way to crystal creek, it's fresh, secluded and less touched.
Pawan Kumar Reddy — Google review
Beautiful place to visit for the day or to camp over night. As it is a national park you need to book ahead, but it is quite cheap & is an honesty thing.
It is clean with drop dunnies, a cold shower, taps & beautiful grassy camp sites with free gas bbqs.
There is a hike that takes you on a cemented path, through bush, bubbling creeks & a view of a waterfall. I would definitely recommend this place & will be back again

Lovely and cool during a hot December day. Cloudy Creek walk was excellent as was Witts Lookout. The road up is super curvy so not suitable for caravans but we made it up in our 7 metre motorhome. Stunning views.

Such a beautiful place to visit when in Townsville. A 40 min drive and you’re in a place in the clouds which is at least 10 degrees cooler than Townsville itself. We did the Triple Falls hike which includes a rope abseil down to a gorgeous waterfall

Gorgeous spot. Water slides will be awesome after some rain, was a bit dry when we were there but still managed some ultimate wedgies!

Great afternoon hanging out at the Rock Slides, water temp perfect & wasn't overcrowded...keep in mind Chritmas break probs busy. Easy to get too...sealed road, plus 200m walk on typical National Park bitumen path.
Great little place for a refreshing dip. I visited when the water was fairly low and the kids enjoyed splashing about around the waterfalls. Lots of places to jump from for those more adventurous amongst us!

Fantastic water holes to swim in. Cation is needed. Any water course in Australia can change quickly, the cemetery holds the proof. I would recommend the trip and enjoy the fantastic waterfalls and the swimming spots.

Stunning natural freshwater creek. So beautiful, refreshing and cool even on a hot Summer day. Love it there and wish we lived closer.

Lovely shady gem for a short drive from the A1 highway.
So worth visiting to soak up the ancient stone faced bridge arching over waterfalls and swimming holes surrounded by rainforest.
Plenty of picnic spots either down below bridge or up opposite carpark and take your time driving as plenty of narrow spots encountered especially if you come across a bus or similar.👍
Doug Nichols — Google review
I wish we had read the reviews before towing up the hill. It was a hairy 8km windy road and some locals drive so fast. Some parts were only wide enough for one car so toot your horn to warn others.
We made it up and it was worth.
Rocks are slippery in the swimming holes though very refreshing on a hot day.
Check depth of water before jumping in as some parts are shallow
Tina Chin — Google review
Beautiful Falls and pools. Had a swim at the lowest pool after a walk up to the top and back.
Toilets and change rooms were as clean as can be expected for nearly in the rainforest. Green ants had invaded in one but the others were fine.
Sherida Lawrence — Google review
Am amazing place to go for a swim on a hot and sunny day. Go on the left side of the bridge to find two well-sized pool you can swim in, or go up the stairs and find the third one that seems even deeper than the two others. Watch out while you walk as rocks are very slippery! Look carefully in the ckear water and you might even see some crayfish :)
Get there early on a weekend as the car park isn't that huge, still would accommodate a fair amount of cars.

Little pools to suit all ages, even a little slide if you’re brave enough.

A popular half day activity for locals and visitors to the area. A windy narrow bitumen road of 8kms snakes up the hill to where a bridge was built over the creek over 100 years ago. Various water holes for swimming but watch the slippery rocks. Picnic tables and drop toilet are available.
Bryce McLean — Google review
Beautiful drive, about 150 kl.s nth Townsville. Quiet a few small waterfalls on the side of the road then when you come up to an old stone bridge, you see the main waterfall.

Beautiful area, clean, easy parking, great picnic area with tables and amenities. Chilli plunge pools, awesome little hiking trail. Free entry. Was not overcrowded when I was there in November

So much cooler than Townsville, plenty of room to spread out and find your own spot. Water temperature is very pleasant. Only a short distance from the car park but be aware that there are stairs to descend to the swimming area. Lots of picnic tables and very good amenities.

Beautiful views at every stage of this hike. Make sure to wear bug repellent because the march flies are horrendous, and bring plenty of water for when you're hiking up to the lookout. Saw the local brush turkeys and some curious turtles came to check out what we doing. Well worth the trip.

Jourama falls is honestly a must do!!!
The camp site is really clean, and right near a swimming hole. The Jourama falls walk itself is amazing, and the more you keep walking, the more waterfalls and rock pools you find!
Add it to your bucket list, you won’t regret it.

Open. 5km of dirt road in. The lookout is worth the 500m climb. 40 mins return. Best swimming is at the rock pools, only a few meters into the track. Warning: The mosquitoes are epic! Load up with spray before you hit the track; spray your clothing as well.

Jourama Falls was absolutely beautiful! We did the walk in the morning and there was no one there. The lookout was magical and the Rockpool down the bottom was perfect to swim in, definitely recommend it!

Nice falls and rock pools. Bush walking track is well maintained. Visited in August. Dry conditions but water still flowing. 6km off Bruce Highway with about 3km of good gravel road. In the wet season, the two fords may become impassible after rain

We only went to the crossing of the little creek as a couple of ladies with us would not cross it. There was a little water flowing it it unbalanced them however I am 66 and walked across easily. If you have no balance issues it’s ok. But what we discovered was beautiful and hubs and I will do the full walk next week. Magical place.

OK so this not only looks like a beautiful place to go. It also has awesome camping grounds that look beautiful and really good in the dry season. at the time of this review a family could go and camp there for 10 nights for $254. there are shower facilities and toilets plus water taps. not to mention your not far from the creek and the gorgeous walk to the falls which is on a bitumen gor a 3km return walk. most people we chatted to said it was a hot walk but worth it as it is beautiful to see the falls. we went down to the creek and had a paddle but could not stand around because we were getting eaten by mozzies. we will certainly head back after some rain has dropped and i am sure ill be editing this review in the near future. 😁S

Beautiful walk. Pack water and food if needs be. There is the falls and the water wholes. Took us no more than an hour to walk it and you can stay longer if you like. Pack a towel if you want to dip your toes. There are toilets at the camp site. Enjoy!

Currently closed due to water over causeway. Ranger closed the gate on entrance to the NP. There is a sign just of the highway which tells you if it's open or not. Note we where still be able to book the camp ground so don't trust the info online.
Otherwise beautiful spot :)
Good place to stop and fill water tanks. Dump the toilet waste.
Easy caravan access.
Walk around the park and get some local area info from the centre.

The best Visitor Info centre I have ever seen, helpful staff, free tea/coffee (driver reviver station), kids friendly info, lots of brochures about the entire region (Townsville to Cairns), toilets and access to the TYTO wetlands (they sell turtle food).
There is parking for larger caravans and a dump point.

What a brilliant location for an information centre. Loved the boardwalk and the information about the crocodile sightings in the wetlands. Wonderful team, full of information and fun. I'll definitely be back and stay longer so I can visit the rest of the places to see in and around Ingham.

My wife and I spent a weekend in Ingham trying to follow the footsteps of my father who was an Italian canecutter in the 1920s. Upon arriving we were fortunate enough to attend the Italian Festival and spend time with Karen and her family. We also got to meet Mario and Andrew who were featured in the SBS television program 'Where do you think you're from?' What an experience! They are so giving of their time and knowledge. Thanks to their hospitality our trip to Ingham was an experience that we will never forget. We would recommend a visit to everyone that ventures North.

Definitely worth the effort to walk down and back up. Allow some time, the walk down was about 45min back did take 1.5 hrs in the heat. Visited the falls on a 36 degree day, it was very cool and refreshing down at water level probably 25 degrees with the water being cool but not cold. Recommended for good swimming skills as it is deep and the falls make the water choppy, taking a bit of courage you can swim to the falling water. The pools on the edge are nice to cool off in. The surrounding rock down to the falls can be slippery and steep in sections.

Beautiful fall, really impressive. The hike to the bottom is definitely not easy specially going back up. Make sure you have water with you. Absolutely worth it so just take it easy. The NP up the road is really good. Fairly quiet, plenty of spots for vans and tents. Make sure you book before to get there as there are no phone coverage.

Absolutely beautiful.
Perfect spot for a day trip from Townsville with family. The walk to the base is a bit hard for the kids and you must have a good fitness level for that. Keep plenty of water and some snacks if you do decide to walk down to the bottom of the fall.
L J — Google review
Really worth seeing it, u won't be able to know how beautiful it is through photos on the internet. MUST SEE!
The walking track is not that easy tho. I'll say it moderate level walking track and better to do it with dedicated hiking shoes, especially on rainy day (no one tell us that through reviews, so regret that not knowing it)
To swim, you gotta do some rock climbing and those rocks are super slipery. Be careful and it's not easy.
Thao My Duong — Google review
A bit challenging place to get to as you will definitely feel you are going on an off-beaten track, sharing the narrow roads with cows… The reward is a spectacular waterfall with amazing sunset view!!! One of the few places on earth where you feel really blessed to see this beautiful awe inspiring nature!
Herbert Lay — Google review
Australia's highest waterfall!!!!
Went there from Ingham, the drive took around an hour. Honestly it is totally worth it.
There was plenty of parking when I arrived.
You can look from the look out point about the marvels of the waterfalls or you can actually walk to the bottom. And there will be a big pond there where you can actually swim there.
The walk wasn't that hard, I've seen kids around 5 yo taking the walk.
It will be around an hour for the walk(one way), which is 2km.
But please be careful after you reach the bottom, if you want to go to the pond, you need to hop from the rock to another rock, it is not recommended for kids.
Overall it is definitely worth walking to the bottom.

Worth a visit! The drive can be a little long and the road up there is not the easiest but it was a fun drive and the view was amazing! The waterfall has a single massive drop which makes it unique 😍

Australia’s tallest vertical waterfall! Beautiful location, a MUST VISIT. Accessible from all types of vehicles. Allow at least couple of hours for the walk down to the waterfall from the lookout & car park. The walk is difficult and should be only attempted by moderately fit and healthy people. Don’t go if you have a mild walking problem. Roads are good for almost all types of vehicles, just take your time, stay on your side of the road (bitumen all the way).
Russ Porteous — Google review
Beautiful, mother nature showing off, 🩵 enjoy your visit, take care on the roads,🚻 available at the lookout, very steep walk to the bottom of the Falls, you will need sturdy footwear 👍
Lauren Grogan — Google review
WOW what a day, definitely a must do! Took us 35 minutes down and 35 minutes up (was quite a workout). The waterfall is so impressive, we spent a few hours down there. Try to get to the waterfall before 1pm if you want the sun to hit the waterfall. We flew the drone there no problems and got some amazing shots. Also spotted some Ulysses butterflies at the top.

The drive there from Townsville was a leisurely 2 hours, the last 30km is stunning and the road is new bitumen. The falls biggest and best in Australia and view is from the top. The walk to the bottom is worth it but a full medium+ grade walk. 30 minutes down 1.5 hours up, take water unless it's winter. Definitely worth the trip with or without the walk
Tezza — Google review
Beautiful right now after recent rain. Facilities are great, maintained well etc. It is very hot and humid at the moment though- make sure you pack lots of water and bug repellent and be properly prepared for the walk down to the base of the falls.

Beautiful waterfall - hiked all the way down, going back up was kind of strenuous but not terrible - total up & down took 1hr. Would highly recommend!

Amazing experience!
The road up (from Ingham) wasn't that difficult, we drove our 7.8 meters motorhome without any problems.
The view is amazing.
The way to the base of the waterfall looked intimidating but was easy pizzy,
30 minutes down 45 minutes up with my 6 years old.
Go and jave fun!
Highly recommended

As Australia's tallest single drop waterfall, the views were absolutely stunning. The journey to the waterfall was a bit challenging, but the hike was well worth it. The scenery along the way was breathtaking, with lush forests and wildlife everywhere you looked.
I only stopped in for the day but I'm keen to head back for a camping experience there. There is no wifi/reception so make sure you've booked a site before you get there if you want to camp. I had NO PHONE SIGNAL anywhere around the place for about 10 - 15mins heading in there.
Beautiful board walk to the Falls. And a 1.8km walk through the forest to the top of Falls.
Hannah Ekvoll — Google review
Very refreshing swim at bottom of waterfall, plus a beautiful view from the lookout. Looks like a lovely place to camp. However, road leading to waterfall was very bad quality especially if you don’t have a 4X4 - lots of pot holes and very rough.
Also lots of persistent big flies 🪰

Did the sugar mill tour after booking through the Tully Information Centre. It was a peek into the reality of sugar production and as a local that watches the cane being grown and harvested every year it was pretty cool seeing how the process goes right up to the teaspoon of sugar you put in your coffee. I'm not sure how long tours of this sort will continue as WHS is forever shutting interesting stuff down. So even if you're only slightly curious you should go. We were all issued with high Vis vests, helmets and ear pieces so we could hear our guide. She gave a thorough safety briefing prior to the tour and set a relaxed pace allowing everyone the opportunity to get a good look and take photos. This tour is good value for money and provides a unique insight you won't find anywhere else. Bookings are essential, take time to call ahead by about a week to avoid disappointment.

Take the amazing tour through the working Tully Sugar mill! Learned so much about the sugar making process and you get to go right up to all the machinery at work. Thanks to Judy for a wonderful tour. You’ll need to book your tour through the Tully visitor center. Richard Goode — Google review
Great Tour, Sara our tour guide was excellent, we learnt a lot, she was very informative and also had a good sense of humour. We highly recommend going on the tour and asking for Sara's Tour. There is a smell from the sugar, but all round the town it smells of the sugar. But please note, you have to book and pay for the tour through the Tully Information Centre in Tully and then you go to the Tully Sugar Mill from there. The Information Centre ladies don't tell you enough, the map is not quite right that you have to follow. They don't tell you where to park your car - so turn into the Mill drive way and go straight ahead till you see the Tour Mill Hut and turn in front of that and find a park behind it somewhere. Also the ladies didn't tell us that you can't take hats, sunglasses, bags or backpacks on the tour, so leave them locked in your car. You can take cameras and you must have covered in shoes. We went back to the information centre after the tour and told them about the map and the lack of information and the very lady that sold me my ticket said "she always tells people all of that, and we should have been told" but Fenella I didn't want to be rude and tell you that you were the one who sold me my ticket and you only told me about covered in shoes and take a camera. It would be good if the Information Centre staff worked in better with those who actually run the tour, as they are the experts.

A tour of the Sugar Mill is highly recommended. We walked through the mill, from the trains arriving with the cane right through to the final product being despatched. In this risk-averse world, we were able to experience the process up close! The fact that the Sugar Mill is entirely self-sufficient for power (generating its own) is remarkable. All waste from the cane is recycled into molasses, bagasse and even 'wet' waste is returned to the farms. A good news story and well worth a visit.
Christine Smith — Google review
What a great tour conducted by Carmel. Plenty of detailed information as you are guided around. Learning the process from farm to raw sugar. The use and recycling of water is eco friendly as well as using cane biproduct as fuel to heat he water. A worthy tour and very informative.

Came here 2 years ago and quite enjoyed the wine tasting
This time I had my mum with me,

Great little winery creating a range of on-site fruit wines, ports and cream liqueurs. $5 for 5 tastings, or free if you buy a bottle. A good little spot well worth the (very short) detour off the highway.

Paronella Park is a tropical oasis situated by creeks and waterfalls, located 50km northwest of Mission Beach. The park boasts Spanish-inspired architecture and vintage hydroelectric generator that adds to its unique charm. Visitors can stroll among the lush foliage, moss-covered steps, and Victorian-Mayan inspired structures that make it reminiscent of a Dali-esque movie set. A night light show adds to the magical atmosphere while an effort has been made to conserve and renovate the park.
Absolutely stunning. The park was recommended to us by another local business and very glad we took their advice. We did the afternoon tour, then the evening tour and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We only got there just in time to catch the last afternoon tour, which we thought would still leave plenty of time prior to the evening tour to begin unfortunately not 😔. Would recommend if time allowing to get a slightly earlier afternoon tour as we just missed a few spots in the garden to explore. Perhaps another 30 minutes?
Owners are doing a great job in bringing history back to life and the staff are fantastic.
Hope everyone enjoys it as much as we did.

Absolutely stunning! We spent most of our afternoon here today and did the evening tour which is definitely worth sticking around for. The whole park is beautiful and there is so much to see! Great to see some restorations happening around the old buildings to keep them around for the next generations to see. Staff are super friendly and it was lovely to meet the owners who are still very much involved and the appreciation they have for the visitors! Highly recommend the visit! The entrance fee is well worth it and you can enter for free for the next 2 years! We will definitely be back..maybe for a night or two next time!

What can I say..... This place is magical!! It has such an amazing back story. All of the guides/staff are fantastic. They are full of knowledge and I highly recommend doing a day time tour. The night light show was nice but you need to do the day tour to understand the history. The caravan park was great. It had very clean modern facilities.

Great, interesting and well set up venue. Very friendly greeting and informative talk. Makes you want to find out the whole story of the park. The night tour put a different perspective on it all. Great to see the owner, Mark , come out to talk to the tour group of their vision for the park and the town in general. In the price of the entrance fee, we stayed at their new caravan park, just behind the pub. Excellent facilities and set up. Will be even better when the trees and shrubs grow higher.

Paronella Park is a captivating destination steeped in history, offering a unique experience for visitors. Despite the cost of getting there, the guided tour and complimentary camping site make it a worthwhile investment. I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the park and learning about its rich heritage. Feeding the turtles and fish added an extra layer of enjoyment to my visit. However, I regret not being able to stay and see the castle illuminated at night due to the drive back to Cairns in the dark. For those interested, staying overnight is highly recommended, with options for cabins or camping available. Overall, Paronella Park is a memorable and enchanting destination.

I loved the night light show. Loved how the owner is so determined to conserve and renovate the park. Make sure you have enough time to walk around, feed the turtles and fishes and take some great pics. It might be worth spending the night if you're into camping.

One of the most enchanting places I've been to in Australia. The story behind it is one of generosity and love. Its just stunningly beautiful. And the accommodation is comfortable, compact, clean and more than adequate. Whilst they don't have shower and toilet in them a spotlessly clean amenities block is 1-2 minutes walk away. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, warm, welcoming, engaging and nothing is a trouble. And they are passionately committed to the park and its ongoing success. The guided tours were plentiful and informative and you could tell the guide had a real commitment to the park and its back story. Will definitely go back again and spend 2 days there to fully explore Paranella Park.

A magical place to visit, where your imagination can run wild with how incredible this place was in it’s prime. Tours are very informative, giving lots of opportunities to take photos, while learning of the history. For those with mobility restrictions, there was a vehicle option, so that no one missed out seeing everything.

Beautiful location, even in the rain. The staff are very friendly, welcoming and passionate about what they do. They were prepared with umbrellas for all guests and had a well equipped gift shop and cafe. I definitely recommend doing both the day and the night tour. Excellent value for money. They have a car available for people with mobility issues so they don’t have to walk down / up the stairs on the tours. The night tour light show is fantastic. Can’t recommend highly enough. Take some time while you’re in the area and visit this beautiful piece of history.

Got there kind of early, and got a tour of the park with just the 2 of us and the tour guide Megan.
Such a wonderful story behind the park and each place of the park, and Megan was an amazing tour guide.
It is such a beautiful place, I definitely recommend walking shoes if you want to properly explore the whole park. However, you could get by without them.
They also have a small cafe menu with some delicious vegan options and some locally hand-made ice blocks to refresh you after exploring the park.

I cannot recommend this place enough, please check it out! Not only wonderful scenery but also fascinating history. You get a free tour included on the entrance ticket and a free night at its caravan park (which you can use within up to two years). It's nice that it stays open late. It was one of the highlights of our trip to Cairns.

REAL HOSPITALITY! So beautiful and cool, you can’t believe your eyes when you’re there. Billy did a really good tour for us and all the staff are super friendly and genuine. Price included guided tours and a free night in the caravan park. Amazing value for money, and valid for 2 years!! They serve good food as well. Very pleased with our stay and experience. Definitely visit Paronella park if you get the chance :)

Very scenic spot. Super polite and helpful staff. Scones are on point. Spent about an hour walking the park. Best parts was probably feeding the turtles and the view of the waterfall from yhe picnic tables.
Only downside is the park is quite far out of the way. Oh and you can stay and camp there if you choose.

What an unusual place. Our tour guide Mandy, fill us in on all the parks history during the day tour as well as the night tour. She explained all the family history and did a great job. We really liked that an overnight stay in their caravan park was included in our tickets which allowed us to go on both the day and night tours, and spend the whole day at Paronella Park. Well worth a visit as there's nothing else like this place.

It’s the most wonderful experience wandering around Paronella Park. The jungle has well and truly taken over the old ruins and is super lush and wild. There are so many beautiful plants to see.
I thought entry (around $55) was pretty expensive when I arrived, but after taking the tour (which is excellent) and spending time walking through the gardens and exploring the paths I think it’s absolutely worth it. You can also put your name down and visit again for free in the next two years.
You can tell the owners are really passionate about the place, and the guide we had was awesome. Definitely go out of your way to visit - it’s a must.

Very friendly greeting, owners obviously take great pride in their venue and welcome tourists from all walks of life. Great story of the Spanish family that established an entertainment venue in the jungle off the back of profiting by establishing 11 sugar cane farms. Really interesting history, nature wasn't kind with floods and cyclones.. thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Disco ball story the best, apparently the owner liked to party 😄

This place is beautiful and a great legacy to the original creator. It's so inspiring to see what one man with a vision started and now what Mark is continuing to preserve. Well worth a visit. You can really imagine the park as it was way back. The waterfall was unreal and the light show and night tour was really fun and so lovely to see it all lit up. The campsite provided was also the cleanest and best we have stayed at!

Beautiful family day out. We are holidaying in Cairns and are so glad we made the trip out to this beautiful part of Qld history! The owners were kind and welcoming, meeting us at the front door! the tour guide was interesting and gave lots of interesting information. Paronella park is a must for anyone who loves history, gardens, or just a cuppa and a day out looking at waterfalls. Kids loved feeding the turtles and walking the suspension bridge! Spectacular, our favourite outing so far!

Cassowaries often roam the beach at this rainforest-enclosed bay, with shaded picnic tables & BBQs.
Gorgeous place best for everything like Relaxing, sigh seeing, skydiving, picnics and more. The very highlights is the Cassowary hunting for food on the shoreline. Rod Leonard a local Queenslander introduced this place to his mate Nick Dean from USA who loves photography he came to visit last year month of November for 6 day's and he went twice at this place. and there he goes!!

Was very wet and gloomy day when we visited, too wet to stay at the park there in our camper trailer but we did spot 2 cassowaries and had a lovely morning tea. Beautiful spot... we'll be back.

Very relaxing. Netted swimming area for safer swimming. It is not recommended you swim outside the nets due to the sea hazards such as Jelly Fish in the far north. 99% of the times I've been there I've seen a cassowary along the beach. Don't approach them though. And definitely don't feed them. They can be a bit unpredictable in their behavior.

Absolutely beautiful place, one of the nicest beaches we’ve been to, a cassowary roams up & down the beach, during the day. You drive down a winding road through the rainforest, to a secluded beach, surrounded by rainforest trees, only 16 kms south of Innisfail. Only 9 kms of the Bruce Highway. Definitely well worth the look.👍

Spectacular scenery truly something special. Located on the upper Tully river as it flows out of the mountains as rapids and pools through think dense jungle. Know for holding the world record for the biggest jungle perch caught. I can tell you the sooty grunter fishing is some of the best I have come across. Whole place is full of life. Lots of fun to be had here 📷🚶 🎣

What a fantastic experience. It was very nice to view the town from the perspective of being in the middle of the river and seeing views you would not normally see from the land. We spotted two crocodiles, we were advised a female and a baby crocodile. The guide was humerous, lively and witty, very gracious hosts, all the staff were wonderful. Informed with a bit of history of the area, the reason why it rains so much (this I did not know) and all other relevant information. Very pleasant. Thank you to all the staff, wonderful work.

Fantastic cafe at the dairy of Mungalli Creek. We love how cheese features in all the dishes! We had the spinach savoury cheesecake, and the Swiss crepe with salmon. Both of the dishes were fresh and well balanced. It’s beautiful to sit outside among the rolling hills at altitude. There was a lovely breeze, and people were taking full advantage of the picnic tables under the trees. A few people even had their doggos with them! Worth a visit.

We shared the cheese platter for 2 between 3 of us and it was plenty of food to sample the lovely cheeses made by Mungalli. The service was excellent and the cafe was cute, homey and had a set up where you could browse local made products to purchase. 10/10 food and service and lovely to support local business. Well done!

First the positives... The food is delicious, the location stunning and the service is good.
Not so great... Lots of room for improvement inside. It is functional but by no means does it provide a memorable visit. If you took away the location, it would probably slide into obscurity. The furniture is a mixture of style (the tables) and functionality (the bulky, tattered "camping" chairs). Decor is below average - beautiful photos spoilt by budget frames, etc. The floor is also a mixture of beautiful wood and torn vinyl. With minimal work, this could be a great place inside as well as outside. Be aware, parents, that only unisex toilets are available so you'll want to accompany your young kids to the bathroom.

Great place to stop for coffee, milkshake, cheesecake and a bite when you are on the waterfall circuit. Enjoyed our stop at the Mungali Creek Dairy Cafe. Great views of the tableland about 1-2km from the cafe also.

One of my favourite Tablelands cafes! We LOVE the cheese platter for two. Have eaten in several times but we also love the option to grab a take away cheese platter to take to home when having family over, to a friends house or to take on a picnic. Adorable dairy farm and cafe located in Millaa Millaa, Queensland. This local cafe is rustic and charming.
We ordered the cheese platter for 2 with extra blue cheese and we were impressed by the variety of cheeses as well as the generous portions. It came with chili and onion jams, fruits, crackers and many sides that paired well with the cheeses.
Additionally, we got the strawberry crepes with vanilla ice cream and the scone with cream and jam. The scone came with Devonshire tea that was grown locally. Both dishes were very good with great quality ingredients.
The only downside was the wait. For the cheese platter, it took about 45 minutes from order time. But we didn’t mind because it was a beautiful sunny day and we enjoyed the view.
Although the location is a little out of the way, we highly recommend to stop by this cafe.

Gorgeous little spot, except went there for scones and jam and cream, they open at 10 and we ordered at 10:30and they were sold out!! So get in early! Went up to the Tablelands for Easter weekend and heard it was a great place but I did not have that experience. When we arrived there was a a lot of people there. We waited in line and when we were served the lady was quite blunt and dismissive to us, like she didn’t want to serve us, including the other staff we interacted with. We ordered 2 milkshakes and nothing else which cost us close to $21. There were plenty of staff working so we thought it would not take very long however we waited over 25 minutes. There was no sense of urgency considering how busy it was. After waiting around for a while one of the staff members family walked in with a newborn baby, the staff member stopped every person working to meet the baby whilst the cafe is full of people and there is a still a line to be served. Once we finally received the milkshakes we were very surprised they looked kids sized. Half the size you would normally get at any other cafe I have been to. It was not an enjoyable experience for such a popular cafe.
Maddison Goulter — Google review
Nice little cafe worth a visit if you’re out this way. Stunning views of the hills as we sat at their outdoor tables and enjoyed a cheese platter. The staff gave a thorough explanation of the different cheeses and also a little information on the surrounding land. It was very enjoyable learning more about the country.
Only downfall was that it took 50 minutes to get the cheese board. However, we didn’t mind too much because the views are gorgeous and there’s a little shop inside we perused whilst waiting.
This day out begun with the most friendly Australian bloke we have ever stumbled across. Its hard to have a better day than kayak through Babinda Creek with Babinda Kayaks. I'm a repeat offender. Sure you could bring your own but Paul has all the gear, safety equipment, local knowledge as well as pick up or drop off at Babinda Rotary Park. Love this place as does my dog. Yes they're pet friendly too! Suggest you take a drink some fresh fruit or something to snack on and your swimmers. There's also plenty to do and see in and around Babinda too. Don't forget to call into the local bakery after your kayak.

Such a delightful way to see the wet tropics! Splendid scenery and the gentle thrill of paddling along a crystal clear waterway. We had one kayak and one SUP. Found that great fun as we swapped over a few times.
There are modest rapids where the SUP seemed to handle safer by being on the knees.
Would LOVE to share this with grandkids / whole family!

Highly recommend hiring a kayak from Paul at Babinda Kayaking and going for a heavenly paddle down Babinda Creek. Paul sets you up safely with all the gear required and picks you up at the end. Babinda Creek is a crystal clear, gently flowing piece of heaven. You really only have to paddle over a few small rapids and to stay away from the banks. We've done Babimda Kayaking so many times now I've stopped counting. It is still one of my favourite things to do in North Queensland. It changes depending on the water level and time of year so it's always worth calling Paul to book and asking about the water level. We always take our little dog as well. A must do experience in my opinion.

Nestled amidst the lush rainforest of Babinda, the Babinda Boulders is a natural wonder that leaves a lasting impression. Despite the rainy weather and foggy conditions during my visit, the sheer beauty and tranquility of this place still managed to captivate me.
The journey to the Babinda Boulders was an adventure in itself, with the mist-laden road adding an element of mystique to the experience. While the fog obstructed the panoramic views I had hoped for, it created an ethereal ambiance that enhanced the allure of the surroundings. The gentle sound of raindrops and the mist shrouding the towering boulders contributed to a serene atmosphere that felt like stepping into a different world.
The boulders, sculpted by the forces of nature over centuries, were truly awe-inspiring. These massive granite rocks, adorned with vibrant green moss and ferns, created a picturesque setting. Despite the limited visibility, I could sense the raw power and beauty of the crystal-clear waters that flowed around them. It was a reminder of nature's resilience and its ability to create breathtaking landscapes.
Exploring the walking trails around the Babinda Boulders was an invigorating experience, even in the rain. The rainforest canopy provided shelter from the downpour, and the air was filled with the earthy aroma of damp leaves and soil. The trails were well-maintained, ensuring a safe and enjoyable journey, and the signage provided valuable information about the area's natural history and cultural significance.
The Babinda Boulders is not only a scenic marvel but also a culturally significant site for the local Indigenous people. I was moved by the stories and legends associated with this place, and it deepened my appreciation for the spiritual connection between the land and its traditional custodians.
While my visit to the Babinda Boulders was hindered by the weather conditions, I could still sense its immense potential as a nature lover's paradise. I can only imagine how breathtaking the views would be on a clear day. I would highly recommend planning a visit during more favorable weather to fully immerse yourself in the beauty of this remarkable location.
Despite the foggy conditions, my trip to the Babinda Boulders was a memorable one. The combination of nature's grandeur, the mystical atmosphere, and the rich cultural heritage make it a destination worth exploring. Don't let the rain deter you; embrace the enigmatic allure and let the Babinda Boulders cast its spell on you.
Note: This review is based on my personal experience at Babinda Boulders on a rainy day and reflects my genuine opinion. I recommend checking the weather forecast before planning your visit to ensure optimal conditions for enjoying the scenic beauty.

This place is amazing. There’s a small free camping area within walking distance to the falls. The water is a bit cold but once your in it’s refreshing… there are no crocks here 😃. Just a really good place to have a break.

Beautiful place to swim, if a bit chilly! Would recommend going down the trail, and looking at the amazing rock formations a bit further down from where you swim. Good how it has wheelchair access, with a ramp down to the pontoon that you can swim off. We also saw a Cassowary here, so watch out for them.

Beautiful clear water. Lovely spot to swim. The walk to the top is paved all the way and well maintained. There are some steep sections. Mostly shaded walk. Plenty of stops along the way. No good reception after the carpark.

In the dry and wet, Babinda is gorgeous and a perfect place for a dip. One morning, whilst having a swim, I was joined by a platypus which was scurrying around for its food. There are plenty of parks, picnic areas as well as toilets and a playground but I tend to go earlier in the day to avoid the crowds.

Great place to visit.
Even to cool off and have a swim.
If you like to hike there is a hiking track.
One is 19.5km one way.
Otherwise short walk it to the beautiful viewing decks..
Plenty of parking and a ramp to the river and to toilets for disabled.
Lovely little town too...bakery ,fresh fish, butchers op shops etc....selling local produce and jewellery and art etc from locals. Just one thing....shops close early ...around 2pm

I recently visited Babinda Boulders. The water was a bit chilly, but it was totally worth it to swim in such a beautiful place. Crystal clear waters & I even saw some eels swimming around.

Beautiful place! Too cold, would you believe, while we were there, for swimming but the swimming hole is superb. The walk was brilliant and because of having lots of rain the river was wild. Recommend a visit. And Kool Cafe in Babinda for lunch was delicious (good vegan options).

Babinda Boulders is a hidden gem nestled in lush rainforest surroundings. The pools and waterfalls formed by the boulders are truly stunning. Despite being a bit out of the way, the journey to this natural wonder is absolutely worth it.

This place gets super busy. Has toilet little playground, BBQ area.
The large swimming hole was a bit noisy with all the people but shallow enough for all ages.
Water was very fresh.
The walk up the hill is worth it to look around.

This place was very impressive. The riverbed had these massive boulders in them, and a very narrow area that the river flowed through these boulders. They were threatening signs everywhere, warning people not to swim, and showing how so many people had died by trying to swim in the area. It does look luring and looks like it would be easy to float down the river, and then you notice all the signs that show how people get trapped under the rocks and get trapped in underwater caves. I would never swim there, but to see the beautiful boulders and the water rush over them was pretty amazing definitely go visit here but don’t go swimming. There was a swimming hole that was at the beginning of the hike. That was a safe place to swim. We did not swim, but saw lots of people there.

Nice tucked away spot for swimming in crystal clear water. The water is refreshingly cold. A small 650m walk to the lookout.
Beware of the big black flies that bite around here. Use repellent.

Really beautiful. We camped at the free camp nearby and walked down to the boulders. All I heard online was how dangerous it was to swim here but there is actually a still, sandy pool at the top with easy access for swimming. Once you start the walk and see the rocky boulders from the lookouts it is these areas you are not supposed to swim at.

Gets very crowded during the holidays so it's best to go early and there are bbqs available on grassed areas but it's worth every minute the water is cool great swimming spot. Sorry didn't take much pics as I was too busy swimming
Picturesque 18-m. waterfall plunging into a swimming hole surrounded by tropical greenery.
Really a great place to see the falls and to have a picnic. A lot of people were swimming in the water. There are changing rooms near by. You have to walk about 10 min from the parking area to the falls. We can recommend this place. Everything is nice and clean.

Gets allot of hype in "what to do around Cairns" Personally I found Josephine falls to be the best overall in the region. The water is cold (colder than Josephine Falls) brackish and rough to walk into with lots of submerged stones and rocks (recommend wearing reef shoes) although the waterfall itself is quite spectacular and there are fish and turtles that you can see as well

A fantastic waterfall. Easy drive from Ravenshoe. Easy walk down steps to the falls or if you have trouble walking you can drive down. Toilets and picnic tables available.

Beautiful waterfalls.
Super easy to get to and with plenty of parking.
Bring your swimsuit because you will not want to leave without going in for a dip.
We went after a few days of rain and the waterfall was huge and super majestic.
Worth a visit.

Millaa Millaa Falls is undoubtedly beautiful, with its cascading waters and lush surroundings. However, my visit was cut short due to heavy rain. Unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to fully enjoy it as I was quickly soaked. Despite the short visit, the natural beauty of the falls was evident, and I would love to return on a clearer day to fully appreciate its splendor.

Such a great waterfall. Went in for a swim in the murky water and loved it. The waterfall is ferocious, very loud but worth a swim up to and behind if you’re a competent swimmer.

Milla Milla Waterfall is a magnificent sight in Far North Queensland. Despite the rain and fog, the waterfall's grandeur and increased water flow made it a captivating experience. The limited visibility added a touch of mystique, creating a unique and memorable visit. Don't miss this majestic natural wonder, even in less ideal weather conditions

Such a beautiful spot and we basically had the place all to ourselves at the end of the day. It does get extremely busy though as it is such easy access. You can view the falls from the lower carpark!

This is ‘the’ falls to visit. Most ‘Instagram-able’ and often the location where all the hair flick pics are taken. Make sure to not just take photo so close up .. but step back and take some pics with the flora and fauna in the foreground to create a better composition.

Lovely falls, we came in July and it was really wet. Some people went for a swim but it's not very clear water when it's raining.
Good for a quick photo opportunity but not much to do when it's wet weather.
Disabled car park has access to the viewpoint .
Frances Jagger — Google review
Fantastic for a swim with the kids, easy to access the carpark is next to it. Wear shoes the rocks under foot can be sharp. The bigger and braver ones can paddle under the falls or the smarter kids can find the side track to avoid the cold water!

There will be 3 waterfalls to see if you go to the waterfalls scenic drive in Millaa Millaa, the total drive around 18km which didt take too long of you just touch and go.
Out of all 3 waterfalls I feel Millaa Millaa waterfall is the best, easy accessibility from the car park, just around 5mins walking distance and you are right in front of the water wall.
There is a beautiful waterfall there and there is a small pond there to let you swim.
Good place to stop by.

Not exaggerating when I say the best swimming with a view.
My whole family enjoyed it and it wasn't crowded. We wore water shoes for caution as rock edges are sharp.
Thanks for the recommendation: Cairns Adventure Group!

Beautiful waterfall and carpark is right nearby although quite small, we were lucky to get the spot we did as many were already lining the side of the narrow road. It was very popular when we came, plenty of people swimming. Restrooms are not the best.

These falls can be viewed from a very short walk from the car park. It was a little crowded with tour buses and lots of people there but the falls were beautiful to see. If you’re in the area it’s definitely a place you should stop. If your adventure some then go ahead bring your swimsuit we saw lots of people swimming out to the waterfall and they mentioned to us that it was quite nice and that the water wasn’t too cold. We saw a man in his son and asked if they would take a picture. The dad said sure I’d love to get in the picture with you. We thought it was quite a funny picture of us and our new friend :)

Pulled in here whilst doing the waterfall circuit and had never heard about them.
We were starving and saw the cafe sign so swung in.
Service was unreal and man, the food was soo good. All handmade and their meats are some of the best.
We had a burger each and finished with homemade scones with their homemade jam!
Get in here whenever you can and just enjoy

Stopped in for a bite to eat after seeing it on Google Maps. Had the barra and chips and the chicken burger, both very yummy. They offer a $10 platypus viewing. Great way for kids to spot the platypus and even better seeing them in the wild. It might take a few minutes but they definitely pop up!

Don't let the peace and quiet fool you, this place is an absolute gem and the girls do a great job on the rotating menu. Its always top notch when we visit, probably one of the best places to eat on the tablelands, tied evenly with the ever so popular Farmhouse Cafe.

Only had coffee (it was really good). But worth going for the platypus. There were so many of them. As long as you keep talking and they can hear you they will show themselves and swim close to the shore so you can observe them better. Definitely worth coming.

Stopped here in the hope of seeing some platypus, however we were informed that we wouldn't be able to do any viewing as the lake has a bad weed problem at the moment. We were hungry so decided to stay for lunch, food was pretty good, nice view and friendly staff.

We dropped in the get some smoked meats but discovered the place has had a remarkable renovation since we visited years ago. It has a big pavilion, is serving meals and has an abundance is outdoor eating spaces. We had cake and a yummy lemon myrtle iced tea. I think this place will continue to evolve as they have planted a large number of blueberry bushes and they are already fruiting.

This was a surprise visit for us... we found the location on a map we got from a visitors center!
We had a very warm welcome at a surprisingly nice and cozy location. A nice, warm lunch is possible, there are some nice souvenirs, and a couple of refreshments as well.
For the platypus sightings; all we had to have was a little patience, and then the little fella's came showing up... of al the Ozzy natives we met in real life, this one felt the most special!
If ever you're in the neighbourhood, please pay this park a visit, and while you're there, sponsor the platypus (and the fantastic owners of the park) for a bit as well!

There's little signage at the road entry, so careful not to drive past. The platypus were cute and we sighted a few of them. If you have binoculars, take these with you, as a fellow visitor let us use theirs and this provided improved viewing. However, still worth seeing without them.

Good walk following the water pipeline along the Behana Creek. It is quite steep in parts and fairly tough on a hot day. Start early, there is shade. Take some water with you. Allow 1 and a half hours.

Decent walk. The path is all concrete - not a dirt track. The path is quite steep in many places to make sure that you are wearing shoes with a decent grip. The waterfall is right at the end and you can climb down onto the rocks. Take care - it is steep and can get slippery. Reccomend as a moderate challenge. It took about 1.5 hours with a few stops for photos.

What a beautiful place for a swim!
The walk to the top falls is about 3kms on a tarred services road, it is quite hilly in spots so be prepared to sweat a little.
Very similar feel to the Babinda Boulders and just as dangerous so take caution if you decide to swim at all, very strong unpredictable currents in parts but lovely spot to swim at the top.
Make sure you bring a picnic to make it a lovely day out

Family friendly lake surrounded by cool rainforest, with swimming, birdwatching & bbq facilities.
A beautiful vulcanic lake with a number of swimming spots and sheltered barbecues. The lake itself is great for snorkeling as well. We spotted a number of jungle perch, other small fish and turtles. There is a sign warning of a timid fresh water crocodile who apparently lives in the lake but we didn't see any sign of him.

A very popular lake in tableland!
Just 10mins drive from Malanda town.
There will be plenty of parking spots outside the lake.
Toilet everything is available there
There is a signboard warning a friendly crocodile there but I have asked the local they said they have never seen him in 15 years so probably it's not there anymore
A lot of people are going there for a swim and the whole lake is yours to swim
Please bear in mind it can be very deep(not sure how deep as I can't see the bottom)
So please be very careful if you are not familiar with water
You can bring your own paddle board or kayak there.
If you are having a picnic and decided to go for a swim please cover it well as the bush turkey is sneaky.
There will be a 3KM walk around the lake which takes you an hour to finish
Overall it is a good place to check out in Tableland

Pyramidlike mountain covered in trees, with challenging hiking trails winding to the summit.
More of a fitness challenge than a scenic walk, as it requires constant concentration. A technically difficult track, especially coming back down. The effort is rewarded with amazing 360 degree views from the top. Depending on your fitness, up and back will take 2-7 hours and you'll need 2-4 litres of water. Recommend starting at dawn as you'll get baked climbing this during the heat of the day. I wouldn't climb this in summer.
Taylor Hofman — Google review
Been wanting to do this climb for years after growing up nearby. Very tough and technical track, like it's been said. Very steep with little rest spots, take plenty of water (3 litres per person is a good start) start as early as possible to get the cooler weather on the ascent. Good challenge and leaves a great sense of achievement after completing
Matthew Allwood — Google review
Difficult walk as most of the track is rocky and is at a constant incline. Good fitness is recommended. If you are new to bushwalking, allow for an entire day (7 hours) to do this. People who can do grade 5 tracks can do this in around 4.5 hours. Views are amazing and worth the effort. Highly recommended.

We decided to do a difficult hike as it had been a while since our last one so we challenged ourselves to Walshs Pyramid in Cairns ⛰
This is a challenging climb that start on a decent slop and gets steeper as you go 🤣, just over 6km return and allow approx 5-6hrs total. But despite the challenge this was worth the view!

A great walk with fantastic views from the top (just be aware of wind out the end) Some slippery sections with lose rocks definatley wouldn't try in the wet. Might only be 3km each way but 900m elevation change makes for some steeper sections. Take plenty of water and sun protection. Far better marked than last time I did it 8 years ago.
Oh and don't expect an ice cream or cold beer at the top!
Brendan Butler — Google review
A very steep walk/ rock climb ! You need a reasonable amount of fitness to finish this. I recommend starting early - it took about 4hours for me, from 7am to 11am. I carried 2 litres of water with me and that was fine. I would recommend bringing a snack to keep you going - it's a tough one. Do not attempt this is summer because there is not much shade. After the rain do not attempt because a lot of the walking/ climbing is over rocks that get really slippery after rain. It gets really warm so bring a hat! I've seen kids do it but you definitely wanna make sure you're bringing fit kids up.
Bec R — Google review
Great trail (although constantly steep) and views, the peak was in the clouds when we hiked it which was pretty cool
Jalen Andrew — Google review
Quite challenging especially for those not accustomed to mountains but worth the difficult hike to the top to enjoy the views ! Definitely requires a certain level of fitness. Take your time going up and take frequent breaks. Bring plenty of water, some snacks, and lots of sunscreen and good hiking boots with a good grip. Shade is pretty scarce. There were several other people climbing and descending so it didn’t feel too lonely. Cell service was good for the entire hike. The descent was much quicker and easier compared to the climb.

Tiny beautiful remnant rainforest. Curtain Fig NP is a remnant of the original Mabi Forest (“mabi” = Ngajanji word for the local Lumholtz’s tree kangaroo), which once stretched across this low-lying part of the tablelands. The information signs say this part was left uncleared largely due to the basalt rock boulders scattered across the land. I had no idea this place existed. But found it by chance whilst on our caravan trip. As an avid photographer and keen interest in technology (old and new), I found this place absolutely fascinating. The guided tour fee was money well spent. Would not hesitate to do it again as there is so much to see.

We made the trip up from Melbourne and this was number 1 on our wish list of Tableland attractions; it did not disappoint.
There are a vast array of cameras and stories to go with them, which explain local Tablelands history, technological advancements of the 19th and 20th century, modes of production, warfare; and of course, cold war espionage (that’s why we all really come, right?)
Would recommend calling ahead to make sure the shop is open

Amazing 40 minute tour of a massive collection of cameras some from over 100 years ago. Loads of unique antique film cameras and some spy cameras from all over the globe definitely worth the visit and pay for the guided tour the owner is super knowledgeable and can explain heaps about the arch camera.

Fascinating tour and exhibition. Very knowledgeable and passionate owner really brought the exhibit items to life, with a little bit of local history woven in. Well worth the price of entry. I recommend phoning ahead to ensure they are open as occasionally it is closed for photographic assignment.

This was such a fun experience! I was expecting it to be small but there was actually a huge range of rare cameras including all sorts of spy cameras. It was a guided tour and the owner spent ages showing us around. We learnt a lot and got to see all sorts of things that we’d never seen before. The owner had a funny dry sense of humour and kept everyone entertained, both kids and adults. Would highly recommend this and say it is worth the price.

Drove for 2 hours from Palm Cove especially to see the museum only to find it was closed due to a Photographic Assignment.
Suggest you call before taking long drive.

One of the best museum experiences I have encountered. Well worth the price of admission. Fascinating tour!
Historic Village Herberton is a fascinating outdoor museum located in a tin mining town, showcasing over 60 fully restored heritage buildings and machinery from the 1800s. Visitors can explore exhibits such as a school, sawmill, bank, bishop's house, coach house, camera store, working farm equipment and vintage cars. The memorabilia includes printing presses and newspapers from throughout the 20th century. It's recommended to spend several hours here to fully appreciate this brilliant collection displayed in orderly streets.
This is one of the best museums we have ever visited. When they offer you the 3 day pass I can now see why. There is just so much to see and experience, and it is so well laid out. Plan to spend at the very least a few hours here - you will be glad you did.

Must see! Our favourite museum in Australia so far. We spent over 3 hours here. It wasn't crowded because the tour buses don't come on Tuesdays. The staff were excellent! Extra friendly and accommodating. The tea room was very cute to sit in. There are plenty of picnic tables so I'd recommend bringing your own or having a snack in the tea room. Entry fee is CHEAP and 100% worth it (I don't know why other reviewers twisted about the price!) Yes it does smell old. Because it's full of old things. It's very much the Australian version of Beamish in England. We'd recommend this to anyone.

A great step back in time and well worth the drive to Herberton. There is plenty to see, and you can spend days wondering through the village.
Plenty of preserved and restored history from the local area as well as a few items from further abroad.
Very dog friendly. A few more items on the food menu would certainly be a plus.
A must do activity in Far North Queensland for locals and tourists alike.

Loved this visit. The highlight of the day was the demonstration by the Blacksmith. So much to see there you need to have the whole day to view everything. The cafe has a resident ghost of a previous owner. Awesome day spent there

This has to be our favourite dog friendly activity so far on our lap of Australia! We loved the variety, informative signs and beautiful displays. Something for everyone!
Dogs we’ve allowed throughout the grounds and inside each individual building so we didn’t miss out on anything which is quite rare when travelling with dogs.

If you're looking for a one-of-a-kind museum experience in Australia, you simply must visit this place. It's easily our favourite museum in the country thus far - we were there for over three hours!
The staff were outstanding - not only did they go out of their way to accommodate us, but they were extra friendly as well. We loved spending time in the tea room, which was charming and cozy. There are tons of picnic tables outside, so feel free to bring your own snacks or grab something from the tea room.
Entry fees are extremely reasonable, and we'd say it's 100% worth it. I would recommend this museum to anyone!
Oh, and if you're travelling with your furry friend, this place is an absolute must-visit. It's probably the dog-friendliest activity we've encountered on our lap around Australia. We appreciated the fact that dogs are allowed in all of the buildings and throughout the grounds - it's not often that you find such a welcoming atmosphere.
To sum up, this museum is definitely a photographer's dream - we took so many great shots! There's just so much to see and do here - we can't wait to come back and spend another day exploring. And if you're interested in history, this is the perfect place to learn about Australian culture and heritage. Don't forget to check out the 30-minute video about the town's story - it's a great way to round out your visit.
Have a nice time

It's an amazing historical place. It is full of very interesting items that good to see. Probably not the best for young children if you are wanting to read the information provided, but there is also a playground and demonstrations throughout the day. I would definitely recommend visiting.

Well I have been visiting this place twice. First, when my wife was pregnant 3 months and second time today with my family. No doubt place is interesting but for me and my wife the staff is an amazing and so caring. My wife wasn’t well but the staff cared her so much and we really appreciate it. Thanks Kylie and kim for your kindness.

You really need more than one day to visit. An absolutely brilliant collection on display. The displays are set out really well. From young to old, there is so much to enjoy.

We spent a day there, but if you don't see it all, they give you a complimentary 3 day pass .We brought our tickets on line before we went, costing $35 each. Very tidy, plenty of toilets. There is also a Cafe, where you can buy a light meals.Very educational and lots of photo opportunities. They have a few demonstrations, through the day.I don't think it is very wheelchair friendly, as there are lots of hills and steps to get in to the buildings.

This is one of the best history lessons you can have. They now have a 26 minute video of the story of this amazing town. Please visit and contribute to a worthwhile cause. Great fun and remember to go across the river..

We visited the Herberton Historic Village over the holidays with our parents and 6 month old. Easily the best historic attraction we have been to as a family and a MUST DO if visiting the Tablelands. There was something to see and do for everyone with the oldies constantly reminding us of the memorabilia they had “back in their day”. The random storms throughout the day didn’t dampen our spirits and was actually satisfying waiting out the rain under a 100 year old tin roof shed. Thanks for an amazing and unforgettable day!

Fantastic day with the kids aged 10,8,4. Spent most of the day exploring the village/museum items in each building. The kids watched a blacksmith demo for over an hour. Unfortunately was not a weekend that the steam train was running. The historical items collected and the village displays are amazing. We enjoyed a scone with jam and cream for morning tea. After a few more village display visits we headed over to the camp kitchen where we were greeted by a lovely couple who cooked up a delicious camp oven lunch. There is a great play ground if the kids need a run around throughout the day. There is so much to see and take in. What a fantastic display of items. The film showing some of the indigenous history of the area along with the pioneers story was also interesting. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

A wonderful open air museum giving an insight into pioneer life in the late 1880s as well as hosting a collection of interesting historical artifacts. The ticket is valid for multiple days.

Didn’t think I’d enjoy the opulence and leftover waste of colonialism and obvious impact it has had on the environment and it’s indigenous peoples however I was delightfully surprised by the effort put into collecting and presenting the pioneer artifacts and lifestyle by presenting it in a huge Villiage of shops and sheds, stores and buildings of every kind from toy store to garage, chemist and butcher, radio shop and school house etc etc etc, the list is endless and make sure you have at least 2 days to explore. Will take some people back to the antiques and things they have seen or owned or been handed down. The wealth earned from taking the tin has certainly boosted QLD however the toke is tic minimalistic display of poorly labelled Aboriginal items is an example of destruction by the commonwealth and its peoples. I took a million photos for my aging mother who will appreciate the memories of yesteryear. Good gift shop, some excellent handturned local wood items by their master craftsman, toilets are spread through the Villiage, plus a cafe with great food. You can take a nice walk over the suspension bridge to the station n mill and along the creek. There are various presentations on timetabled through the day and a film narrated by a Jack Thompson that I wasn’t really impressed with. Although the curved cinema screen was cool the film glossed over genocide and theft!
My husband loves this kind of place because lots of old machinery, some cars n bikes and a great collection of tools as well. My favourite would have to be the lower and upper classrooms set up and the chemist. The toy store is the creepiest beware of atttachment in there. Staff at gift shop were lovely, super friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this as one of the best historical comprehensive and excellently presented collections of pioneer life in Australia without the noise and bustle of places like Sovereign Hill ViC. Not really wheelchair friendly though which is a downside for many.

This place is easily one of Australia's most awesome and complete museum of historical items and information - we thought it may be 1 or 2 hours with our teenage sons, but spent half a day there to closing time, and simply didn't leave enough time to see all the interesting stuff. Plan for a full day, or do it in two halves on a weekend ticket in.

Cairns, on the other hand, is a popular tourist destination with many attractions such as its newly opened aquarium and relaxed esplanade.
Davies Creek, located near Mareeba, is a nature lover's paradise with woodland camping areas, streams, and hiking trails. This national park offers spectacular walking trails leading to scenic spots and is perfect for bird-watching and photography. Loved adventuring around Davies Creek! So many spots to see, sit and enjoy and also so many places for the boys to be boys

This is my favourite park around Cairns. Absolutely gorgeous hike to Turtle Head Rock, beautiful dip in the infinity pool at Upper Davies, massive camping 'nodes', and safe family swimming at Lower Davies. I love the topography and the ecosystems of this park. Definitely a must see if within a 1.5 hour drive!

Great Spot fir a Relaxing Day by the water.Would be great for a Camp if you had applied fir the required permits before you arrived there. Great waterflow.
The Entrance Road of 6.2 km is very Rough with Furrows on the Surface.

Beautiful spot for a picnic and a bit it tubing down the river. Ideal with clean toilet facilities. Came here as children and have now returned with ours! Must admit that this was the first time I’ve ever been to the actual fall. Spectacular!

This place is excellent for swimming and climbing up multiple levels of the gorge. The camping spots are brilliant, although there aren't many and the ones that are there are huge (Upper Davies Creek). No phone reception at Upper or Lower campsites.

So many cool spots to hang a few hrs during our heatwaves. Picnic tables, public toilets, campgrounds, lots of fresh water swimming pools. Cool, running, fresh water. Can't wait to float the afternoon away there again 😉

Had the place to ourselves for a while. Tour group came thru later but kept to themselves. Qld EPA needs to fix their booking system. Place was empty yet said no availability. Long drop toilets. Great swimming pools, watch out for strong currents.
