The staff here are very friendly. We messed up with our tickets and they were able to help us out. The waiting area has plenty to do and the ferry doesn't take long to get to Magnetic Island.

Great all round service and easy to book, once we arrived the office ladies where so accomadating as the weather wasn't on our side and let us in ealry, me and my family have lived in townsville for 2 and a half months and it's not short of amazing the people are happy to accomodate without thinking twice.

BEST Place to see the sunset! I had the privilege of traveling on this awesome Ferry crewed by friendly and happy team. If you are going over to Maggie be sure to return on Magnetic Island Ferry so that you can experience their Sunset Cruise. It was breathtaking!

Easy access to terminal location travelling from Airlie Beach to Townsville.
Check-in and boarding was a breeze.
It was rough when we headed over, but I didn’t get motion sickness which is good.
Three different decks to hang out for the 45min transfer.

Great service for us to get our ute to magnetic Island. Friendly staff little kiosk on board, lovely views on each deck

Jumped on board what I believe was a new vessel, triple level cat, such a smooth and beautiful trip to the island. Good parking and hassle free. And fast! Just no Dolphins this time!

Perfect, On time & super easy! Took dogs with me too. You can remain in your car if you want or go sit upstairs and enjoy the view.

Great service the trip across took 40 minutes the staff all knew what their job was and they all seemed really happy to be doing it and the island is a great place to spend some chill time

Unbelievable service. The customer service Girls were always keen to help and did everything with smile even I had a million questions as our motor home is oversized and I had concerns. Also we liked the island so much that we rebooked twice and no dramas. Also the master on the boat was very experienced. The building facilities were unbelievable and made a pleasure to wait for the ferry. Super Clean toilets. Thank you guys for a great experience!

Friendly service, discount for defence members. 40 minute trip time to Magnetic Island on car ferry. Alternatively there is a fast ferry (20 min trip) across the river on city side for foot passengers only around same price

Thanks guys!

Incredible experience! The crew was super friendly and organized; safety was a priority throughout the day.
The MOUA was amazing, we even got to see a reef shark!
Lunch and snacks were very tasty. Overall a fantastic way to spend the day. Thank you!

Really nice ferry with lots of room - I would have liked if they had some more air-con (it got really hot and stuffy). They have a bar which is good if you want something to eat or drink on the journey. It’s only 25 minutes which goes really quite when they put on a video about what you can do on Magnetic Island!
Sigrid B — Google review
The day trip to whitehaven beach was fantastic. The catamaran is new, two decks with AC plus the top deck with 360 degree views. The crew was very friendly and professional. Captain shared lots of insights about islands and the nature. The boat was kept the entire day clean and tidy. The lunch and afternoon snack was perfect including complementary tea and coffee. We spent over 2 hours on the whitehaven beach under a shad which the crew built up. We had opportunity to come anytime back to the boat. I highly recommend this service.

Can’t control the weather, but can definitely control the staff… who were faultless!!! They were helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. The equipment was in fantastic condition, the food was lovely, and the group numbers were capped which meant very little waiting. Only wish the sun had been out so the coral could have showed off its beauty for my first reef trip ☺️
Kim Jackson — Google review
Used the ferry on Good Friday and it was packed. Apparently one of the busiest days of the year they have.
And yet even so, the service was great, everyone was happy to help and serve and do all they could to assist.
Am very glad we used them (well, not really many other companies to use lol) but in saying that, because of lack of competition they could easily get complacent and yet they definitely have not.
Would definitely travel with them again.

Sea link ferry services is fast as reliable and enjoyable when on board. My Partner and I were on ferry to Magnetic Island to spend our New Year there and see fireworks at the Nelly Bay and back. If you're in Townsville, check out the sealink ferry and make the most of your holidays to travel to Magnetic Island and experience it. You are going to love it

Staff at ticket office had a busying morning when we went. Hard to get them to smile but they did. Terminal was packed but everyone was pleasant and working together. Getting on and off the ferry was good, trip was good, staff on the ferry great - full ferry. Getting off was good. Really nothing at all to complain about. OK one thing. Maggie ferry terminal has the toilets on the inside, so if you need to pee go during business hours
Stephen Doggett — Google review
Boat trip itself was great, with friendly efficient crew.
One word of advice to Sealink..turn the bloody ads off after the safety briefing..all the way over it was monotonous, and loud
Return trip was much better, with no ads and P.A off after safety notice👍

Nice and quick service! They are always very reliable, weather permitting of course! Never had any issue here or at any other location! On this opportunity I just couldn’t book the round trip with rental car included. I guess they don’t have yet that many cars! But there’s plenty other companies on the island plus the Beam service is good there too!

Absolutely wonderful place and absolutely wonderful people! I ride the ferry every day, and it's like a holiday to be here. The terminal is so happy, clean, bright, and efficient - and the staff are amazingly kind and helpful. I highly recommend coming here to take ferry trips to the Island. You will feel like you've had a wonderful long vacation - even though it's just 20 minutes away! Again, thank you to everyone here for making this such a special place.

Breakwater Terminal, 2 Sir Leslie Thiess Dr, Townsville City QLD 4810, Australia
Opened in 1987, this aquarium features hundreds of species of coral, plus fish & other marine life.
Spent the day here when it was unbearably hot outside and couldn't be bothered exploring the rest of the city. Spent 4+ hours here. Staff and volunteers are all lovely and are incredibly knowledgeable (and chatty!) they're predator talk and turtle hospital talks were wonderful and very informative. All the tanks are looked after to the utmost standards. The cafe is also well priced and the food is lovely! I had one of the best caramel thick shakes and fish and chips ($8 for two pieces of fish and a serving of chips!) I've had in a long time. Definitely well worth a visit
Sonia A — Google review
Very disappointing! It has been closed for almost two years now, and there is not a single mentioning of this online or on street sighs. The site looks completely abandoned (we were there in the middle of the week and saw not a single person on site). It seems it will never open. Even locals don't know what's happening there and why it is closed. The official web-site says it is "transforming" which is a direct disinformation; the aquarium just does not exist anymore.
Victor Rull — Google review
A great place for families to see tropical fish without getting wet. Our 3 year old spent an hour looking at the fish. There are bits the kids climb into and look closer at the fish - ours really enjoyed this. The touching area was closed due to COVID.
Chris Martignago — Google review
Loved it! Lots to see. Could spend all day here. Glad we got the family pass for reef hq and the museum. Excellent value. Awesome talks and presentations. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. We love visiting here. Highly recommend if you are visiting townsville. Just make sure you find out when the talks and touch pool is on so you don't miss out or have to wait to long if you have kids.
Trixie Bells — Google review
Thoroughly enjoyed my afternoon spent at Reef HQ. The size of the tank is enormous with an amazing variety of fish species. What I really enjoyed most was the knowledgeable staff in attendance. I must have attended four different talks on various aspects of marine life which were all very interesting. Also witnessed the feed time in the main tank. Along the passages are smaller tanks with sea snakes, sea horses and many other marine creatures.
The price of the ticket is well worth it. I would highly recommend a visit next time you're in Townsville.
Ricky du Plessis — Google review
This place is awesome, passionate volunteers run this and it’s great to place to learn, admire or just relax on the lounges in front of the large tanks. Turtle hospital is definitely worth the visit as it gives a reality check after looking at amazing things. Cafe has tasty snacks and lunch, good coffee too.
Bought a member ticket whilst here and go 1-2 times a week, under 5 year olds free.

Great place to take your children. Keeps them busy and cool in the airconditioning. Suitable for wheelchair access including the upper level. Every time we go we visit the cafe for a rainbow paddlepop with affordable food options.

Awesome! We went for fun and as a homeschooling experience. The education resources as well the education officer on site were amazing! We learnt so Loch and had so much fun. Highly recommend for all families!

Booking was full but after calling on the telephone, staff were nice enough to put us on a waiting list in case attendees left prematurely. We received a call and moseyed on down.
A great experience in the heart of Townsville. Friendly and knowledgeable people and fish/molluscs/reptiles etc. very welcoming. One reviewer said (and I am paraphrasing here):
“greatest way to see the barrier reef without getting wet”

The Museum of Tropical Queensland offers a snapshot of the diverse region of Queensland, with exhibits on rainforest, reefs and shipwrecks. It is also family-friendly with displays on prehistoric times to the modern day. The museum has an interactive model scene where kids can load and fire a cannon.
Awesome place! Such a great Space with sooo much to do for kids (not only the experiment section). It’s seriously the best Museum I have been for a while and that not only because all of the interactivity of things, but also because all of the exhibitions a created with so much attention to detail!

Great and informative museum! Specially if you’re fan of the deep diving they have a great collection and lots of information on recovery technology from deep wreckages. A lot of history about the HMS Pandora if you’re into history. Always better fun for kids but very interesting in general, worth to pay a visit.

Small interactive museum. Kids loved the hands on science room and the enchanted forest.
Spent about 2 hours here, we did everything to do.
Locals get half price entry, only available to purchase at door.
Went on Easter Sunday and it was very quiet which was nice as the kids could spend time on things they enjoyed.

Absolutely loved the museum. The story of the HMS Pandore is greatly narrated by audiovisual materials, text and original artifacts from the ship wreck. In the upper levels the natural history museum is also very interactive and explained, I particularly liked the exhibition of sealife and corals. Tickets for 15$ only and is suitable for kids as well!

Fantastic value.
We were here for hours. Everything was interesting and informative, the kids had lots to do. We stopped at the cafe for lunch and coffee (both excellent).
One of the volunteers told us all about the Pandora exhibit which was wonderful to listen to.
I'm sure we would be here frequently if we lived closer.

The Maritime Museum of Townsville has a great variety of exhibits and activities that are sure to interest any fan of maritime history. The museum features exhibits on the wreck of the SS Yongala and naval industries in north Queensland, as well as mini models of some of the world's finest ships. There is also a cash only policy, which makes it perfect for budget-minded travelers.
Museum of model ships and maritime services ...very informative displays about seafarers life of yesteryears.. some of the mini ship models are incredibly detailed, excellent craft work and knowledge...Museum helped to improve my respect to all those seafarers who contributed to create this modern world.

It was quite informative. I like reading about the WWII history and there is plenty of that here. The photo is a scale model of the USS Lexington which was sunk at the battle of the Coral Sea.

$15 entry is a bit steep for a museum that receives public funding from the Queensland government. Museums and art galleries should be free to the public so that EVERYONE can access them regardless of their income level.
Miranda Lucas — Google review
Biggest problem I had during my visit was I run out of time. To read all the factual information you really need a full day, so much on display, models, videos to watch, articles to read. But really enjoyed it, but will need to visit again to finish off everything.
dennis martin — Google review
We visited this museum and we were very surprised we thought it would only be a small museum and we would have a quick look, it has so much to look at and read and is just beautiful we loved our time here and will definitely go back. It has fantastic ships models to admire and so much history. It is looked after by volunteers and they should be very proud of themselves for the beautiful museum they have put together. It is set on the marina and you explore each room that is set out with information. They even have a lighthouse. Great place to visit.

Cotters Markets is the largest arts and crafts market in North Queensland that takes place every Sunday on Flinders Street. It offers an impressive range of local artisan crafts, handmade gifts, food and fresh juice. With its limited parking but great location, this Australian-focused market is ideal for picking up unique products such as Sri Lankan foods along with fresh vegetables, fruits and baked goods. The shaded footpath provides a lovely ambience for strolling downtown on a Sunday morning.
A great way to send some time on a Sunday morning .. for locals & tourist .. as there are plenty of stalls to check out

Even though it's small compared to willows market, it does have some unique products including fresh juice, Srilankan foods etc.
The location is great but parking is limited.
This is more of an Australian focused market whereas the willows market is more inclined towards Asian products and customers.
There is choice of fresh vegetables, fruits, fresh baked foods, nice shaded footpath for walking, good ambience.

Lack of shadey spots and seating, as market is also attended by elderly and mum with children. Townsville is hot. Had a great breakfast in a bun and a hot tasty coffee.

Wonderful day at Tartan day. So good to see all the Scots in their different tartans. The pipe bands, banner parade and the Scottish dancing was just great, such a feeling of community in this great city.
Billabong Sanctuary, spanning across 11 hectares, is a fantastic wildlife refuge that showcases the beauty of native Australian animals such as kangaroos, koalas and parrots. The sanctuary offers a range of different environments where visitors can experience these amazing creatures up close. Alongside this are ranger presentations that provide interesting insights into the lives of these animals.
We enjoyed a lovely day at Billabong Sanctuary today. The park was very well presented with lots of native animals to experience in different environments. The ranger presentations by Ray were well delivered and interesting.
All in all recommended as a great place to explore while in Townsville.

Worth a visit. Family friendly enterprise but not as slick as more commercially orientated ventures.
Large car park (free). Level walk most areas so suitable for pram/buggy users
Staff friendly and knowledgeable.
Coffee shop/cafe serves snacks and drinks..a picnic area in the open or under shade with plenty of tables and seating.
Plenty of animals and birds to see.
Gift shop selling usual range of items, pens, fridge magnets, tee shirts etc.
Interactive feeding of kangaroos and turtles. Crocodile feeding is at set time for people to watch.
Various 'meet and greet' sessions during day for dingoes, wombats, koalas, various reptiles and birds. Check signage for times.
See the Cassowary bird....an endangered species....resembles something out of Jurassic World. 🙂

Everytime we have visited the Billabong we've had such a great time! It's easily accessible making it inclusive of everyone young or old. There's plenty of animal interactions during the day, with the awesome knowledgeable staff presenting excellent shows you can tell they are passionate about their animals. $140 for a family day pass (2A/3K), with no extra to hold various different animals. Always a good time at the Billabong highly recommend a day here!

Had the most wonderful day here with my partner learning about the animals and interacting with many of them too!! The animals are all really well looked after and all look to be really happy and healthy. It’s a great sanctuary where keepers really understand the animals and know how to look after them whilst allowing visitors with special experiences.
I’d suggest getting there at 9am as the timetable for experiences with animals begins then !:)
Food is fairly priced and there’s lots of seating outside for you to eat hot food , picnics etc.
There’s even a pool for the children to use which is a great idea as it was really hot when I visited!!
Will 100% recommend - especially for couples or families.

Overall, it's a decent location. Able to have interaction with a variety of native animals. The best for me was the Tree Kangaroo, very active, you wouldn't know he had no vision. I guess coming from Victoria, I noted the lack of grassed areas, otherwise it offers plenty for visitors.

(Don't feed them without permission - some of these shots are birds being fed by their trainers)

Great morning out with the kiddos. You can take your own food and drinks, no alcohol though I think. Loads of whistling ducks, and turtles. Only saw 3/4 as the kids were exhausted. Kangaroos stayed well out of the way of people and the dingoes were on vacation I think, and no Meerkats. But still a great outing. Swimming pool is lovely, and the cafe has food and drinks. You can also buy food for the animals. Saw the croc feeding which was amazing.

The kids really enjoyed the visit and the walk around the Billabong sanctuary. The animal interaction was an amazing experience. The staff and Rangers were friendly and knowledgeable. Worth a visit if you have kids that live animals and a short walk.

Our family visited this sanctuary in 2001. Didn’t have online reviews back then! This would have to be the most authentic amazing wildlife experience in Australia. Loved how natural it was, walking through the bush and coming across animals in there natural habitat. 100% above The Australia Zoo! Amazing staff, low key but very professional. A must do when you are in this area!

It's amazing zoo,zoo itself it's not too big but you can interact with all different animals with no cost, you can hold snake and little 🐊for free and take pics with your phone and feed turtles free and get really close to wombat. Definitely worth the ticket price I feel this zoo it's more personally than any other zoo I love my meerket experience was amazing₍˄·͈༝·͈˄*₎◞ ̑̑ love it and also they have pool in the zoo its too hot
Only thing I wish there are more choice of food and more kangaroos

Fantastic place to spend the day as a family or with a group of friends. We go multiple times we year with the yearly pass. There is picnic and BBQ areas as well as a little cafe. We always end the trip with a swim in the pool. There are plenty of sessions throughout the day where they talk about the animals. With some of them being twice per day. There are opportunities to pet, hold, and have photos with some of the animals. The workers are very friendly and always willing to answer questions. Photos taken by my friend during our last trip

What a wonderful day out. We went with our big kids and grandsons. The staff are super friendly, the Rangers are so knowledgeable and keen to share that knowledge. We loved how interactive everything was. Cuddling a Koala is simply the most amazing thing I have ever done. We loved everything about this place. We were first time visitors but will be here more often in future. Will definitely join up to support such a wonderful place.
The Palmetum is a 17-hectare botanical garden that is home to a variety of rare and endangered palm tree species. It boasts excellent landscaping, with everything neatly grouped and labelled for visitors. The park offers a peaceful and tranquil environment, perfect for leisurely walks amidst the spectacular trees and cactus gardens. Visitors can also enjoy coffee at the garden's facilities before or after their walk.
This palm garden is beautiful and relaxing to walk through or sit and have a picnic. There are water lilies along the river edge of the Palmetum. There are some huge spiders in there and saw a python just having a snooze in the garden bed. Worth a visit, maybe not on a very hot day. The is a really nice Cafe at the entrance "Absolute Cravings", food is amazing and friendly service.

Great place! Saw small kangaroos and turtles, some Birds and pretty flowers etc. I think that they could water the plants and maintain the area a bit often tho. Otherwise nice place to visit. There is also a cafe next to the park (but i think it's open just until 2pm). The park has free entry.

Good parking and loved the garden setting. Bench seats I liked 👍 Seen the Black Hawk Memorial. My heart goes out to all.
Great park with a big kids playground .
The pungent smell of bat poop certainly clears the sinuses as it's a major flying fox 🦊 roosting place .
But hey their a part of North Queensland , they have a right to enjoy the park too .

There is a nice playground with various swings, slides, and climbing things. There is a statue of a dragon and of Aslan. There are picnic tables and a BBQ.
Toilets are near the playground.
The garden itself is small. It is overrun by bats, which is a shame.
Tiffany Woolfield — Google review
This is such a fantastic park for parties heaps of room for the kids to run around and awesome trees for them as well. Fenced to keep the younger kids in and a large shade cloth over the main play ground kids always have a great day there. And relaxing for us parents to with coffee shop 100m over beside the library the place is a treat.
Glynn Nielsen — Google review
Smaller than the botanical gardens around Townsville. Has a small lake with a water fountain, plenty of open green space, relatively quiet further into the park from Thuringowa Drive, has a playground, gazebo, several park benches, plenty of shade and many plants. Conveniently located next to the Kirwan library, and community centre.
Only issue is the now-larger section overrun by bats. It's really not fun in that section (nearly half the park). They're noisy, smelly and in their many hundreds. The areas affected by bats has meant the council has effectively closed the section with the lake, and the grass in that area is slashed, not mowed. The footpaths along the bat-area smells atrocious. The other-side of the park seems more welcoming and it's harder to hear the bats there. The playground and library is on that side.

This place is good for numerous reasons.
- It has a nice scenic walk along the river.
- There are many Barbecues for you to have food with people
- The pool is usually nice and cool.
- Great place to host a birthday party, lots of green grass to run around on.
- Large enough that you can run around it and get a full work out.
Love this place.

The riverwalk lagoons is well worth a visit. If you feel like a swim in one of the three pools supplied by Townsville city council for your convenience. Unfortunately the cafe is closed due to Covid restrictions I would imagine. A beautifully uncovered and shade covered area to swim in. Life guards on duty also in April so go for a walk or a swim through the beautiful gardens surrounding the pools or go for the walk to the Mecca café. Wheel chair access. Cheers big ears

Such an informative and insightful tour to see behind the scenes of the hard work behind discovery of gold and trying to make a living. John our guide was a wealth of knowledge and answered our many questions. During the 75 minute tour there was an interactive informative story display, so you could understand the history of its prosperous hey day. Make sure to book through the information centre or online, so as to attend the tour to avoid disappointment of missing a tour. Its a must do for anyone with interst in gold, history and of the local area.

The Battery Venue has a lot of very interesting history. Unfortunately it is quite expensive($30 for seniors).
The presenter gave a verbal explanation, tour of the area and two computer generated shows with the faces of the founders of the Battery operation. I'm sure more tourists would go if the price was more reasonable.
Geoffrey Smith — Google review
It was a really interesting tour but $30 (seniors) for 48 minutes substantially reduced its appeal. You could read much of the information in Zara Clark Museum for $5.
—————- Update on 4 August
Response to the owner’s response
I did the Venus Gold Battery Tour on Sunday 30 July. It was scheduled to commence at 10am. Looking at the time stamps on photos I took while waiting for the tour, I suspect it started a little late. The last part of the tour was a short video. As soon as the video finished, the guide said words to the effect that the tour had finished and he was off the clock. I was shocked it was such a short tour and immediately looked at my watch. It was 10:48am. The group walked back to the office. A few of us stopped on the way to look at a bower bird, its nest and what it had collected. Those photos are time stamped 10:53am to 10:56am. You will have contacts for the other people on the tour, none of whom I know. I suggest you contact them and ask for the time stamp on their bower bird photos which will also be before 11am. I then walked back to my van, drove the 4km back to Charters Towers township, found a parking space appropriate for a motorhome, walked to the Stock Exchange Cafe, ordered food and paid. The time stamp on the bank statement is 11:25am on 30 July. I encourage you to contact the Stock Exchange Cafe to confirm they have a transaction for $15 at 11:25am on 30 Jul using the same card I used to pay for your tour. Alternatively, I can email you the bank statement if you are prepared to contact me in person.
THOSE EVENTS ARE IMPOSSIBLE IF THE TOUR CONCLUDED AT 11:30AM AS YOU CLAIM.
The Venus Gold Battery Tour I did on Sunday 30 July lasted no more than 48 minutes (and arguably 43 minutes). I paid $30 as a senior for the tour. The information was very interesting, but the tour was rushed, commentary started at each location prior to everyone arriving and there was minimal to no opportunity for questions. On the basis of my experience, the tour is over priced and I would NOT recommend it. I give it 3 out of 5 stars and I am being generous.
Please check your facts before calling me a liar in a public forum again.

This place is well worth the effort. The experience is simply awesome. I truly enjoyed the way this couple shared their history of wanting to keep a part of history alive by sharing with others. Definitely a must on your Bucket List for a unique experience. This was a surprise for my kids after getting through a rough year and a half. A well earned family trip. Will definitely be back to visit and hopefully experience the Wagon Tour :)
Elizabeth Muir — Google review
We did the wagon tour today and loved it. Our hosts were delightful - so knowledgeable and passionate. We were treated to smoko with Billy Tea (in my case coffee) and home cooked sweet treats. We watched an informative film about the Texas cattle drives and then boarded the horse drawn hand made wagon for a trip through the paddocks to see the variety of cattle on display. Mick is a raconteur with a cheeky sense of humour and kept us thoroughly entertained while educating us about the longhorns, bison, water buffalo and other species. On our return his wife Linda gave a talk on the artificial insemination methods used on their breeding program. We finished at the building housing a monument to JR, the Guinness World record holder for the longest horns. The impressive beast passed away last year. This was a really entertaining and informative morning that should be on everyone's to do list.

While it's not the best lookout I've ever seen in my life, it's certainly the best lookout in this area. The view is amazing and you get a panoramic view of the entire region. It is set up very well to display the history of the mining town and the surrounds and it is probably best to visit during dusk or dawn to appreciate the beautiful panoramic view when the light is good. There are toilets there and the road up is well maintained. There are also a number of boardwalks around the area and so it is wheelchair friendly. When you're in Charters Towers, if you haven't been up there before it is definitely worth heading up.

Most people visit Porcupine Gorge because they happen to be driving past from north to central QLD. Even though it is a bit off the beaten track it’s definitely worth a trip just to experience the gorge. It’s a very geologically significant area, an awesome outback swimming spot, has great outback camping and awesome vistas and photo opportunities. There’s a good walk down to the river achievable by most, lots of Australian wildlife. Although the road is dirt, it is usually accessible by 2wd.

Take the time to drive in the 2km to this spectacular Gorge. Who would have believed something to this depth would be just off the road. If driving through The Lynd or Hughenden, do yourself a favour & come see this place. A 70 metre drop is phenomenal, doesn't seem much when saying it but if you stand near the edge, it's horrifying🫣🫣. Totally loved it & made it the highlight of our trip🦔🏞💛🧡💛

Bitumen the entire way from Hughenden which was a nice drive and a wheelchair/pram friendly concrete path from the carpark.

Amazing views, lots to wonder with incredible geology, extremely accessible for any fitness level from carpark, it's a 1 minute walk.
Wish had more time to venture around into the ridge itself or go for a swim on the pools below.

A short 65km - 46 minutes drive from Hughendon . The first stop is the lookout where you can view over the gorge. If you want to be adventurous and walk down to the bottom you drive on to the camping area about 11km further .
The walk down is 1.1km from the top with the walk up the same path 1.2km ??. (Maybe allows the extra distance to sit under cover after you have climbed back up ). There was not a lot of water at the bottom at the moment but the walk down was worth it. When the is more water it’s a great place to swim apparently . I will say you need to be reasonably active to climb back up the steps/path ! I’m 61 and still managed it comfortably .
Well worth visiting the little Grand Canyon in the area.

Only a 5 minute walk from the car park space. Amazing look out viewing deck. 10km from Pyramid campground but this is a must see to believe.

The place is not very famous I think, but I enjoy it more than Uluru, the view is breathtaking, and the 1.5 km track is definitely memorable. We spend a lot of time near the creek, have a long walk with our bare feet on the white rocks and explore around.

An incredible place to stop and admire the dramatic view. We stayed up the road at Pyramid campground which has a steep track that enters the gorge with just enough water to cool down in at the end of October.

Porcupine Gorge Lookout Access, Porcupine QLD 4821, Australia
This is a fantastic asset for the district. There are amazing new colourful LED lights. Don't be trick into thinking that this is a small country hall, it's massive and has a great stage. Bring on some events.

A must stop when visiting the Flinders area. The lady on the information desk was so helpful. Nice to see someone with such enthusiasm for their town and district, a real credit to her. Found the museum interesting and informative, couple of short movies very interesting. Displays informative and great area for kids to explore as well. Thanks also for the free camp area handy to town and local attractions.

Small museum but interesting collection especially the map of AU over 100 million years ago where Perth was connected to Anatarctica and outback QLD was an inland sea. Interesting that SA and VIC were also connected to Antarctica.
There is a dinosaur replica of Muttaburrasaurus.
There’s a 5.50 per adult head entrance and merchandise. The lady was very helpful too.

Good little place to see dinosaurs. Not sure on the price though. Thought $20 per adult was a bit high

Unfortunately the Discovery Centre of the Dinosaur wasn't open as the are redoing it, but the lovely lady at the information section was very helpful, lots of souvenirs from around the area.

A really good exhibit with simple explanation. The centre is partly under development currently & will be better again when complete

Excellent centre ... def worth a visit. Hughenden is very progressive town - noted ev chargers - and council offer a free camping ground by the notable coolibah tree for those with their own services (toilet, generator etc).

Super interesting museum with videos of interviews with locals from Hughenden which gave it a really nice personal touch.

I want to rate this higher but just can not. The site had limited items and lots of the stuff on display was from other parts of the world such as South Africa or some other location. The video was average and just the experience wasn’t worth the extra drive. We went to
Richmond and Winton for the other tours and found those great but when got here was disappointing maybe after seeing the other sites this one was just very average. People were helpful and nice in the info centre so that was good. I guess some of the items were not on display as they are upgrading but really not sure what else they could do.

We had a good chat to the very nice & knowledgeable staff member Tilly.
Lots of fossiles, thunder eggs etc, info about sheep shearing/ sheeps & strikes, kids friendly play area , great film about Porcupine Gorge, great souvenir shop
Art trail - very interesting & clever installations

Staff here friendly and helpful. The museum is not as extensive as Richmond or those in Winton and it’s a long way to get here. They do have a full size skeleton model which puts these animals in perspective.
The staff will happily tell you about the sight-seeing options like the ancient Porcupine Gorge and the Mt Walker lookouts.
For travelers, sadly what they don’t tell you is that the 60kph zones extended WAY out of town (particularly the south/east side) and so far that you think you’ve missed the signs. Also it’s easy to miss them in the way in and there are CAMERAS right on the spot. Doing 70+kph in a 60 zone is expensive in Qld.

Informative and interesting place, not a big collection and only one complete model - that of Muttaburrasaurus.
Very cheap $5.00 entry.
The airconditioning was not working the day we were there so it was VERY hot and uncomfortable.
Philip Moses — Google review
Nicely laid out, small museum with an entry fee of $5.50 per person. They have some small fossils from all around the world as well as some from the local area like varying teeth, shells, molluscs and fish. They also have some beautiful fossilised timbers and very colourful rocks of many varieties. There is also a short video on the formation of the Porcupine Gorge over 500 million years period.
They also have a full size replica of a Muttaburrasaurus named 'Hughie'.
There is also a section in the museum on the history of Hughenden.
If you have an interest in Australian truck heritage this spot is perfect. From old highway runners to station trucks, there is something here to interest everyone

Nice work team - really good collection of restored and 'hidden gems' - very much a Mack truck focus and really love they gave credit to the people who have restored trucks and are on loan from personal collection.
Would recommend.

The stories in the reception area are worth reading. There's a mix of original and very well restored vehicles.

Massive display of trucks and machinery ,well worth a visit.

A bloody good no frills experience, a pretty good exhibition of predominately local region trucks that have history and well maintained. Another great Outback Experience. The Bull Crtet was parked on the pad across the road.
Gerry Dempsey — Google review
The diverse range of trucks here have to be seen by all. The volunteers there are very good, passing on little bits of information about the different vehicles and machinery housed there. A must visit.

A great place to have a look around.
Run by dedicated volunteers.

Some of the retro and old-fashioned cars are in excellent condition, so that visitors can not only watch and enjoy the Museum's collection, but also rent a car they like to make for some unforgettable moments or for solemn event usage.
