Wineries & Vineyards
Suntory's main winery, located on a vast site of approximately 1.5 million square meters with a vineyard measuring around 250,000 square meters, was acquired by Suntory's predecessor Kotobukiya in 1936. The winery is situated up an open mountain road and boasts a large terrace that offers views of the city of Kofu and the vineyards. Visitors can purchase various Suntory wines at the shop, including rare noble rot wines.
Very nice place. The farm view from the winery shop is beautiful. Up in the mountain we can see the city in the valley. Wine tasting is a good option to discover the potential of Suntory winery. The long history, the wineries network on the other provinces and the information about the indigenous grapes varieties to Japan are worth the visit.

Good to visit the winery farm of my fave drink in Japan! "Suntory" From farm in Yamanashi is a good place to check out when visiting the town. Also don't forget to buy some good wine to try at home. 🍷
Weena Ibe — Google review
A Japanese winery that actually has decent wine and even better views. Growing up in the Napa Valley area its always been hard to find good wine without being too picky, but the Koshu wine they make is very refreshing and designed to pair well with Japanese cuisine The customer service at the shop is also very good and tried to help my parents even with limited English skills! What trumps the tasting, though, is the amazing views of Mt. Fuji and the cherry blossoms in spring!

Upper Togakushi Shrine

Mentioned on
Shinto shrine
The Upper Togakushi Shrine is a revered Shinto shrine nestled amid towering cedars on a mountain that dates back two millennia. It is situated in Nagano Prefecture and can be accessed easily by taking the Alpico Bus from Nagano Station to Togakushi Okusha Iriguchi Bus stop. The trail leading to the quaint shrine is straightforward, with some mild inclines towards the end.
Good long walk up the snowy path. Must have good snow shoes as it was very slippery, along the hike is beautiful.
Sheena PS — Google review
The shrine is powerful and spiritual shrine in Japan. Visiting at winter is hard to go but it is worth for u and us. Hopefully have a wonderful experience there. You will be inspired from god and received something special.
Masa U — Google review
We trekked in with our snowshoes and had no issues getting to the shrine. We saw many others walking, which I would not recommend. The path becomes slippery and at the end, it is very easy to fall as you’re walking up or down from the shrine. Do not stand too close to the buildings as you just don’t know when the snow might slide from the top. The pathway up is beautiful thanks to the huge cedar trees. If you’re in the area don’t miss your chance!

I’m curious the bears were really appear? Because I saw a lot of warning bears at there!! We were afraid that bears will appear so I wasn’t go through that route finally.😂😂 We went to the kagami Ike pond by bus🚌
Dora ???? — Google review
Nice trail aligned with tall trees. The hike is 40 minutes to the upper shrine. The first half of the hike to the gate is easy, but after the gate, it gets harder and harder. The beginning of April has slippery snow. Several people fall, I fall once too, most of us are unable to get to the Shrine, we have to stop right before we get to the Shrine because it is just too dangerous.
iris soh — Google review
I went there on Jan 2023, the view was fabulous. There's snowing covered all around the path way. But the local Nagano government has done perfectly security and service, they have staffs to take care of anyone visiting there even it's quite hard a bit dangerous especially for the old people to go there at the period of time (you better prepare winter boots or shoes's stud strap) it will be comfortable and easy to walk since the path is quite long and you need a bit climbing. (It was around -7° but I have a take my jacket off a while) When I was there, it didn't have many people or tourists, so I spent around 2-3 hrs peacefully. For the tourists, the best way to go there in the winter is a rental car with winter tires. Since there's no public transportation but the bus only. And when they drop you off, they're not gonna pick you up like a regular bus. So recommended to renting a car and you can go anywhere as you like.
Tony T — Google review
The walk and the trees are absolutely stunning, some of them are over 800 years old. Depending on the weather, the path can be quite slippery, take good shoes and make sure you are comfortable with Klein being big steps across large rocks. The temple at the top is modest and small, a little bit underwhelming, compared to other things you can see in the area. There is not much of a view, as there are a lot of trees around. If you’re lucky, you can see some monkeys on the way up.
Christoph Burgdorfer — Google review
A wonderful, easy level hike that you can do in Nagano Prefecture. Take the Alpico Bus in front of Nagano Station to Togakushi Okusha Iriguchi Bus stop, and the easy level trail starts right there. It takes around 1 hours to get to the small shrine and you can experience amazing view of pine trees and magical forest energy. The path is plain mostly, with some minor steep area around the end. I did the hike in the early summer of mid-June with a lot of nice early forest plants. You can do this hike in winter times but be careful that the road may be on ice and slippery. There is also a camping place around the area, that I wish I can stay overnight the next time around.
Yoshi Mirai — Google review
A wonderful, easy shrine trails that you can do in Nagano Prefecture. It takes almost an 1 hour to get to the small shrine from Nagano Station, and you can experience amazing view of massive pine trees some say you could hear the heartbeat of the trees if you listen carefully. The path is mostly flat with some minor steep steps towards the end where the shrine is located. Several soft cream shops outside of the temple one should definitely try the soba flavored.
Daniel Dizzy — Google review
Would like to visit here every year. Good for a walking and paying a visit to Japanese Shrine. All the trees along the way up to the shrine are extraordinary and make you feel powerful, definitely a recharged place full of beautiful nature.

Zenkōji temple

The Zenkō-ji Temple, established in the 7th century, boasts a beautiful garden and treasure house. Its most cherished possession is the Ikko-Sanzon statue, considered Japan's first Buddhist image. Despite being unseen by even 37 generations of emperors, Zenkō-ji welcomes an influx of visitors every seven years during Gokaicho Matsuri to view a copy.
A beautiful 7th century temple and surrounding grounds with a long shopping street leading to it from the city centre. You can find lots of delicious treats on the way up the hill and some good gifts to take back home. This temple is said to hold the first Buddhist statue to ever come to Japan and it is considered to be the birthplace of Buddhism in the country. Nagano Town was built around the temple and it continues to be a major point of interest in the modern city. I love the two giant Nio Guardians at the outer gate south of the main gate. It is the first structure you pass as you walk up the hill from the city

Visited on the first day of 2023 for the good luck new year blessing. Very crowded, but everyone was in polite manner. There's a special loop bus to digest the mass directly from Nagano Bus Terminal. It's my second visit at the temple, still as divine. The new year atmosphere is something I never experienced before. It was quite a journey!
Jason Hung — Google review
Not my favourite temple in Japan, but its size is undeniable and the architecture is praiseworthy. The straight path to the main hall reminded me a bit of Kaminarimon. My favourite part was the underground walk in the darkness (don't cheat by turning on your phone)
Éamon M — Google review
Very beautiful and picturesque old temple. It is a national heritage site and the largest wooden structure in japan. The pagoda at the back of the temple complex holds the ashes of those that died during WW2. Very sacred place and worth this visit especially in winter.
Mitchell Hoeboer — Google review
This is an iconic location in Nagano. The temple area is so big and there are many shrines inside the temple area. During winter it's very attractive. It was highly crowded during weekend.

I went there to visit as a group visit during a Lamborghini event. A Beautiful temple in the heart of Nagano with different complexes. You can go up the temple to enjoy the views from the top. The temple where Kuukai the monk got raised. Very I interesting experience walking in the dark by touching the wall! The only tricky part is that you have to pay at every place you go… would be nice if there was one ticket for all. and it’s not too cheap if it adds up. But it’s I understandable as you need to maintain the temple to be visited by so many tourists !
Clara BODIN- Official — Google review
Have visited this temple at night time, around 9PM 🫣 all the stores around are already closed. It was majestic at night because there was no crowd. Only the temple and the very silent sound of the area. You should try to visit it and stroll around the area!

Very cool temple in Nagano with a large complex of important buildings with interesting history! The temple itself is a very iconic building that has been the favorite temple I’ve visited so far in Japan. I’d recommend buying the combination pass (1200 yen) which allows you to enter to enter all the ticketed areas of the Temple grounds. Each is quite unique and worth a look. The Main Hall includes an underground passage which is quite dark and a fun experience to walk through! The Main Gate provides great views of the temple itself and the surrounding scenery. The museum offers many pieces of art related to the museum and the deities relevant to the temple. It also has a cool section with artifacts from when the 14th Dalai Lama visited Zenkoji. The last ticketed building has a large revolving storage for scripture that if you push it one full revolution will give you the same status as if you had recited all the scripture itself! Visiting Zenkoji is a must-do activity when visiting Nagano and the transportation is very easy from the city center! Also, the temple is surrounded by great small shops with souvenirs and some excellent food!

This is a beautiful and culturally important Buddhist temple. On the day we visited, there were hundreds of people. Many tourists were enjoying the beauty of the buildings, gardens, and statues. The locals were going about their rituals of prayer or celebration. Family groups celebrate their children's coming of age, dressed in their traditional kimonos. Worshippers receiving blessings from the priest or praying for good health. A great experience.

Main highlight to visit in Nagano. This gigantic buddhism temple has a long history over 1400 years. Before getting to the main temple, there is a shopping street where you can enjoy buying souvenirs or snack or food. The main temple offers an interesting activity that is, walking into a pitch black tunnel. You wont see a thing. What you do is to put your right hand on the walk and use it to guide your direction. There are a few turns there. As long as you hav your right hand on the wall it will be fine. It is believed that once you walk you are purified and then can go to get blessings with several places in the temple. There is also 'a key' in the tunnel ( I feel like a door handle) it is believed that if toy find the key in the tunnel, yoy will be blessed. It is about a waist level on the right and I reckon its about 2/3 of the journey. There are some other activities also like meditation (called zazen) and calligraphy.

30 min walk from Nagano station thru the main street to get there, with interesting shops/buildings along the way. Nice temple grounds.

It's the better asakusa in every way. Way bigger temple, nicer area, beautiful garden. More food stalls, better quality food and souvenirs, cheaper too. It's never crowded, almost no foreign tourists. It's one of the best places I've been to.
Prady — Google review
Personally had a decent time walking around all aspects of the temple and admiring its beauty and significance. Just sadly found the place a bit too over commercialised with the main hall of the temple with the Buddha for prayer costing people 700 Yen to pray. A bit too far from my perspective.
Nixon Tan — Google review
Stunningly beautiful location in the lovely city of Nagano. Would advise going early in the day as it gets a little busier later on. Well worth a trip into the main temple itself for a look around (no pictures, so take it all in!) and a talk to the staff there who are welcoming & explained to us (in very good English) the meaning of the temple & various adornments within. The rest of the grounds are picturesque with a mountainous backdrop against various temple buildings. We also left a Gankake-Kitsune as an offering at a small shrine & made a wish. Take your time to soak it all in & enjoy the serenity of this amazing place :)
Julius Anson — Google review
One of the most beautiful temples to visit while in Japan. The complex is surrounded by multiple structures, sculptures and gardens. The entrance to the complex is free except for the main temple. There are many stores at the side of the road leading to Zenko-ji temple.

Beautiful temple! Highly recommend visiting this place if you’re fortunate enough to visit Nagano. We visited on the 1.1.2024. Lots of lovely colourful shops with lots of souvenirs to purchase. The only thing I don’t recommend was the earthquake that we experienced! Very scary but all part and parcel of a fantastic experience at Zenkoji Temple.

Great experience. At 7 am is the ceremony and it worth it to be there so early in the morning. The surroundings are beautiful and you can find statues of Buddha. You can also make your Goshuin for 500 yen.
Leonardo — Google review
It is an amazing place to feel the spirit and history of ancient times. The temple and the surrounding buildings are of a grandeur scale. There is a sense of serenity. We walked up from Nagoya Station in what was a very flat sand easy walk. Lots of souvenir shops, coffee shops, and restaurants on the way up to the temple. We got there around 3:30 in the afternoon, and there were very few signs of crowds. There was lots of information about Zenko-ji on display for those curious. Lots and lots of photo opportunities. Definitely put it on your must do list if in or near Nagano. Was lucky enough to head back there a few days later but went at about 6 pm. Totally different vibe at night and lovely picture opportunities. Very few people, just a few locals walking through the grounds. Zenkoji is well lit up, as are the gates. If you have tome, a night walk up there is recommended.

This is a must if you are visiting Nagano, especially for the first time. The area can be quite crowded especially in the afternoon. For people who prefer walking, you can also walk from Nagano station to Zenkoji temple. There are also busses you can take from Nagano station to Zenkoji temple. The place is really nice and quiet!

Great temple complex in Nagano. Especially nice to walk up to this temple from the Station as there's a big shoppong street leading towards the temple.

We loved this place. It payed by itself the travel to Japan. Nagano is a beautiful town, completely different to Tokyo. Architecture is amazing and whole vibe. Zeko-ji it's a complete town itself, surrounded by several other minor temples, gardens and amazing landscapes. There're options to stay in small temples and houses around the temple and live the spiritual lifestyle, that has to be an unforgettable experience. Woodwork, wood sculptures are like nothing you've seen before. The giant warriors keeping the gigantic gates seems like they're alive. A must visit in Japan, don't miss this place and please reserve at least half day in the area. If you're ok with walking, it is just 30 mins from Nagano Station in a straight direction to the temple. The avenue is packed with nice design stores and astonishing design houses.

Tempura restaurant
Fuji Tempura Idaten is a Japanese restaurant that serves up delicious tempura dishes. There are many different hot and crispy tempura sets to choose from, as well as rice and miso soup.
Wonderful tempura restaurant and they even have a vegetable only set which they cook in a separate oil batch from the one they cook the meat, fish and egg in. Was great to sit at the counter and watch the chef prepare each dish. They serve the tempura at your plate so that too was such a fun touch. Fast, delicious and can’t wait to visit again.

My parents and I had dinner here. We came a bit late as it was 30 mins to the last order but the staffs were really nice by still letting us to order the all-you-can-eat set. One of the staffs speaks good English. The food was amazing! It is also quite spacious, and comes with a warm-nice interiors

Food was fresh, waiting time was short considering dinner time. Not too bad, but if you guys are in a rush, do consider other places. Spent around 4,800yen for a two pax meal.

Great and reasonable tempura. Good place to eat if you’re waiting for a train and have time to spare. Get a queue number from the front, and they have an online queue system. Ours was 85 mins but we were seated in 40. Queue times can be long, but wait around the restaurant when it’s closer to your turn as they will skip numbers if they aren’t present. Good tempura fried to order and ingredients are fresh.
Z O — Google review
Dined in during a weekday and thankfully our wait wasn't too long. When we left there were >8 in the queue. The staff doesn't clear tables fast enough even though there appears to be many, so as we were dining there were several uncleared tables while there was a queue outside. It is near the kawaguchiko station and you will pass by the "famous" lawsons on the way there. Food wise was generally pleasant. Food was fresh, tempura didn't taste of overly used oil, the chicken was quite a surprise because it was juicy and fragrant despite being a breast meat cut. Soba had a good spring to it, it wasn't mushy. Otherwise nothing really stood out. There were also some side condiments you could add like yuzu salt, matcha salt and curry salt. There's also some chilli seasonings that they provide for you to try and hope you will purchase. However the prices here are steep. For the price I paid for a soba set with 3 veggie or the soba set with chicken and egg, I could have an entire set with 5 items in tokyo city. But with not many choices in the area, I guess there's noy much else that could be done.

I arrived at the restaurant around 12:30 and have around 20+ queue before me. It take around 1.5 - 2 hours but it worth to wait. Tempura is really good, not oily. They also provide you miso soup and water.

The queue (as with all the other good restaurants in Japan) was extremely long for dinner so we ended up coming 30mins before the opening time the next day, and even then there was already a queue forming. The fuji tempura don was not great as there was way too much rice and I don’t recommend it. However, the tempura ala carte was absolutely amazing and I would go there again just for it.

Came with full excitement but my heart went cold as I waited. The food was nice. However, the service was not as good as seen from the reviews. Came around 5:30pm and took the queue number as shown at the entrance. To our dismay, we noticed the waiter came and randomly called the queue number not following the queue number. Later, one family went in without queue number but the waitress allowed them to take the seats ignoring those who were waiting outside. One of the food we ordered was missed out. They only noticed until we asked for it after waiting it for more than 30 minutes. So overall, food was nice. Environment was good. Strategic location near to station. But think twice if you are coming at peak hour.

The kings of tempura in Fuji 😅 the menu is huge and covers a lot of different food and not only tempura. The place is big with a lot of seating but it does get really busy during the peak hours but the line will move fairly quickly. You can easily order from the tablet in front of you in your preferred language. Overall good food and reasonable prices.

Came here for its high google ratings. Very disappointed as service was poor and food wasn't pleasant. The tempuras are at most average and the udon tastes like rubber. We also tried the unagi don - the eel was alright but the rice cannot be compared to what other japanese restaurants offer. Overall a pretty bad dining experience at Idaten.

Had this beautiful bowl of tempura when I visited Lake Kawaguchiko in January! Pleasantly surprised by how well the chilli flakes went with the tendon and bought one set back for my family. It’s sufficiently spicy. :) P/s can we also praise how cute their table mat design is?!

The best tempura I had ever had in my life. I recommend the Fuji Tempura set and also eggplant and potato tempura. Worth the waiting. Will come again next time I visit Kawaguchiko Lake.

Not too far from bus station. Tempura is very good, also Unagi. But waiting time is about 30 minutes at lunch time. You have to take a queue ticket and wait for staff to call your number. Recommended 👍🏻

We loved the Tempura shrimps and everything else hit the table. This spot deserves 5 stars , just the service is slow, this spot is under-staffed, they should hire part-timers to support in the rush hours. Cheers 🍻

Highly-raved place just a 5min walk away from the train station and the famous Lawson's. Waiting time was about an hour for a table of 4 at around 10.30am. Ordered the Shrimp Tempura Set, Chicken Tempura Set, the Vegetable Tempura Set, and the Half Fried Chicken. Each set comes with a choice of rice and miso soup, udon, or soba. The tempuras were lightly battered and so crispy - we especially loved the chicken tempura and shrimp tempura. The accompanying vege tempuras also complemented the meats nicely. Everything tasted better with the spices and flavoured salt found on the table - the shichimi spice was so good I bought a packet to bring back! Also, don't sleep on the fried chicken, it was soooo juicy and tender and flavourful, I couldn't stop eating. Overall, a satisfying meal worth the wait. Do go early to grab a queue number! You can stroll over to take pics at the Lawson's while waiting for your turn.

This tempura restaurant is located just at the intersection. It has crowded guest. I have came back 3 times, and finally get my chance to try. So highly suggested to COME EARLIER before lunch or dinner time, so you have more possibility to be able to get in. Even come earlier, I still have to wait for about 30 minutes in que before my turn. The result? I can said, it's worthy. The tempura is good with its sauce. I ordered the shrimp tempura package and add on enoki mushroom and egg. The drinking water is refill-able, as for the white rice and the miso soup but the last two are not for free on the first time.

Soba noodle shop
Japanese restaurant
Soba noodle shop with tasty items such as aromatic noodles, tempura made with seasonal ingredients, and local sake. Overall, the restaurant is popular for its fresh and delicious soba noodles. However, some might find the prices a bit high. The service is good and many guests enjoy dining here with their pets. Kawakamian has an outdoor seating area that is great for enjoying live jazz music while you dine.
Delicious soba noodles! We ordered their famous tempura with hot soba and duck soba. My friend and I highly recommended their duck soba! The queue is quite long during lunch time, so prepared to wait a little. Price is at the expensive side. We spent almost 2000yen/person for a bowl of soba.
H. KKY — Google review
The best tempura in this area! The prawns are massive, crunchy on the outside and delicate in the centre. The soba noodles were delicious as well. There was a line but it was worth the wait. Fantastic service too, always topping up our tea. Highly recommend if you want a delicious tempura soba (hot or cold)!

This is a popular place. I happened to pass by right when they opened at 11am, and was promptly seated. A long line started to form as I was eating inside. They have quite a big menu with a variety of appetizers and soba. My favorite was the scallop with local green onions. Note the portion is large - I made the mistake of ordering 4 appetizers plus a standard soba noodles, and struggled to finish everything.
An Yan — Google review
Best soba-tempura experience. The shrimps are big. And the veggies were fried to perfection. And best of all, the soba is al dente. I wish they come in bigger servings. They even serve you with some broth that you could mix with your tsuyu after you’re done dipping your soba in it. So, you could drink the mixture as soup later. Simple, yet brilliant idea. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Overpriced - very ordinary food at 2x normal prices for having an upscale atmosphere. Small portion. Slow service - when we arrived, there were 10 tables with 3-5 empty tables. But it took 10 mins for us to be seated, 10 mins to catch the attention of the server to order, and another ONE HOUR for the food to come. This all happened at 6pm ahead of peak hour of dinner service. If this is not a tourist trap then I don’t know what is.

Very famous soba shop in Karuizawa with also branches in Tokyo. Food is delicious, service excellent and atmosphere nice. Minus point: in winter they leave the door open and in some area of the big hall is freaking cold.

Overall: 5 COVID-19 prevention: 5 Location: 4 Foods: 5 Drinks: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Service: 5 Cost Performance: 4 Smoking: no Tourist Friendly: it depends Credit Card: yes Comments: one of the best Japanese soba restaurants in Karuizawa area. Soba with shrimp tempura is highly recommended. Roasted duck and fresh salad are also “must order” dish. Staff are very friendly and many guests dine with pets. Outdoor table is really nice with jazz music...Some say it’s a bit overpriced but I’m ok with its great atmosphere. Make sure to book a table in advance!

In a town where numerous restaurants boast their hand-made soba and udon, Kawakamian is one of the highest ranked spots. But I was pleasantly surprised with their setting - a dimly lighted eatery sided with a bar playing Sting and Jazzy music in the background. Any restauranteur will tell you, one of the hardest thing to achieve is the Aura - something you can’t just create, and this restaurant is very attractive and people will tend to stay, mingle and have a good time. Not saying your traditional Ryokan-looking soba place is not good enough, but when I walked in, it could be a trattoria, or even a steak-house, never would I suspect it’s a Sobaya. The food is top-notch, soba is the focus and their creation is memorable. We had Tempura and Duck sets, while the Tempura was already good, the duck was great! They have a good thing going here! And I will definitely revisit.

This is a great soba noodle shop. Not sure if it's the best in town but it's really good. The tempura is also really good. I recommend getting the cold noodles with the shrimp and vegetable tempura option. Really light as well so great before walking around town.

One of the best-tasting soba I've ever had! It was a simple meal but I was filled and satisfied. The prices of the dishes are quite reasonable for this location. Usually there is a line all around the block waiting to get in but during winter it is very cold to wait in line outside so we got lucky and got a table without a reservation. There is an English menu and one of the staff spoke fluent English. Very cool and cozy vibe. Suggestion to come early so as to get a seat! The parking is not that easy to find but it is a minute walk away.

Whenever we visit there’s always a major q during lunch. Beautiful place for dinner, amazing lighting. Known for their soba. firmer than the usual ; which isn’t my personal preference. Other side dishes were amazing ; esp the extra crispy pork.
Christie Way — Google review
Came on a Monday afternoon which helped as the queue was not too long and we got seated in 15 minutes. The interior was spacious with lots of space and they had high chairs for children. Ordered both the cold and warm soba and my verdict is that the cold one tastes much better. The side dishes are well worth the order especially the pork belly which just melts in your mouth. Overall, it was a pricey but worthwhile meal. If only the guy tending the cashier was a bit more polite, the experience would have been that much better.

I have try Kawakamian shop in Tokyo was nice. Came to Karuizawa for holidays visit this main shop. Order two set of soba. Shinshu jidori soba where soba noodles in a hot fowl based broth with sliced roast fowl. The other one is ten serio standard with one tempura prawn and vegetables with cold soba noodles and dipping sauce. Compare with the shop in Tokyo and Karuizawa. Still like the shinshu jidori soba with duck in the Tokyo branch. The ten serio is still nice for both place. Overall the food is nice.

The tempura prawn looks fantastic, and I have not seen this being presented with the heads. It's great for photos, but they taste pretty average. We were there 30 mins before it opened and by 11am, there .use be over 60 people waiting. Luckily, it is a big restaurant and most people can finish in 30 mins during lunchtime. It's worth the wait. Given the popularity, you should try it at least once.
Andrew Wong — Google review
Came here for dinner and it turn out amazing! The restaurant can get really busy during dinner time. But don’t be deceived by the queue, it actually moves really fast as the restaurant has plenty of tables. Love the vibe of the restaurant. They are famous for their soba. The texture of the soba was just so perfect! To our surprise, the grilled dishes (grilled pork belly, mushroom etc) are amazing as well. So do try them! Service is top notch too even though the restaurant is pretty packed.

Cafe
Ramen restaurant
Enza Cafe, located at the base of a trailhead, offers a diverse selection of Japanese dishes with modern twists. The cafe is known for its good coffee and variety of filling Japanese snacks, such as the recommended fried satsumaimo. Visitors can enjoy generous drinks and reasonably priced Japanese and Western dishes after visiting the snow monkeys. The cafe's halal options are clearly labeled on the menu, providing a delicious and unforgettable experience for all visitors.
This restaurant is a must stop after visiting snow Snow Monkey's World. The food was delicious, they had a good selection of craft beer and the hot cocoa is a must. The staff were extremely friendly, spoke a little English and the service was excellent. Priced are reasonable and the atmosphere was memorable. Make sure you visit this restaurant!

You can dine in or hit the corner outside. We've done both and it depends on how much time you want to spend and if you want a full meal or not. The seating is very comfortable and it's a great place to hang out on your way in or out of the monkey park. The apple pie is everything the other reviews say it is. We have enjoyed many other menu items and beverages. Highly recommend!
Clint Collins — Google review
Great little spot in a really nice snowy small town mountain setting. You can start off here and load up before heading towards the Snow Monkey park or end here before you leave with some lunch or coffee. We tried the Ramen and the apple pie (which seems to be a specialty) and both were really good. Beer and coffees were fantastic too. Staff really friendly and helpful as well!

This place is halal. They write it out front in the menu and the food is so delicious!!! 🤤 unforgettable experience. Everyone is also so kind . Highly recommended!! The miso ramen is out of this world 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 best to visit after walking to see the monkey. Price also reasonable.
Atika Rahasta — Google review
Gorgeous cafe with really nice food and drinks. Pricing is sharp (at least by Aussie standards) and the drinks are generous. The ginger drink is nice and strong make sure you stir it before. The (brewed) coffee is robust and full of flavour. The ramen was really tasty but I loved the "pizza" the most. The vegetables (particularly the mushrooms), were expertly paired with a soft cream cheese sauce (marscapone?) And it worked really well. Highly recommended.
Karl Chong — Google review
Ramen was really good, the apple soft cream has refreshing taste… very delicious. But overall the apple pie is the most recommended one!!! We want to come back here again someday!
Jessica Wang — Google review
The homemade apple pie is delicious, and Nagano apples are one of the key ingredients. When I went there, the maple trees in front of the door were red. It was the most beautiful scenery in this area. You have to sit in the open air to appreciate its beauty.

We could not walk past the apple pies in the glass cabinet. They were flakey, filled with custard and apple, delicious. You can sit inside under heat lamps, they even have cute little blankets to put over your knee. Well worth the visit. Wish I had know about the marshmallow monkey in the coffee before I ordered a hot chocolate. Way too cute.

Such a welcome stop after the joy of visiting the snow monkeys! The cafe is spacious yet cozy and the staff were friendly and helpful (since I don't speak Japanese, they helped me to call a car service to take me to the train station). The fish & chips was yummy and don't miss the hot chocolate!

Great spot to warm up and eat after visiting the snow monkeys. Selection of Japanese and western dishes at a reasonable price. Was dubious the ramen would be good at a cafe, but was pleasantly surprised. Dessert pizza is also a good way to finish. Can be a long line at peak times, but when we visited many groups weren’t around to hear their name called and we got a seat reasonably quickly. Parking available, but limited. Cash and digital payments available. High chairs/baby chairs available for families.
Andy B — Google review
Good food. The apple pie was particularly delicious, although the provided fork was comically small. Ended up eating the pie in one hand and scooping the ice cream with the miniature spoon in my other hand. 😆 The ramen was good too but was probably because I was starving after a long hike up to the Snow Monkey Park and back down during a miserable cold winter afternoon. 😝 The menu includes a handy bus schedule on the back.

Such a warm and cozy place to come to after seeing the monkeys. Opens at 9:30am. Apple Pie Pizza (surprisingly really good - very very thin crust) Ramen Hot coffees

Located along the walk to Snow Monkey Park. The cafe is Halad. The homemade apple pie was good., but the cutlery was ridiculous. A small toy size plastic fork and spoon to eat the apple pie. Can’t even cut or scope up the apple pie. The latte was very thick and is great. Hot chocolate was good too. However, the service was quite bad. It’s not first come first serve. They focus on serving the take away customers. So if you dine in, you end up waiting longer.

Recommended the apple ice cream, triangular-shaped apple “pie”, pizza… would give the salad wraps a miss the next time. i preferred mine with more Zingggg or Zesssst, but maybe others would prefer the most natural taste, which you would get.

We took 2 kinds of wraps, one with chicken and one with tamago. Both delicious but the wasabi souce for the egg one was better. We also took the hot apple juce which warmed us up, but was a little too sweet for our taste. The apple pie we took at the end was amazing, with custard and apples inside. Also the ice cream tastes a little like apples and it was delicious 😍
Maayan Gad — Google review
We had the Apple mixed vanilla ice cream during winter. It was snowing as we eat in the cold. It tastes not bad! But is not the gelato type. The ice cream is hard. I like the apple pie pastry. Homemade. So don’t expect a lot of fillings..
M S — Google review
We love their apple pie with apple ice cream. It is very delicious and not too sweet. The shop owner explained that their apple pie has no sugar. Their chicken broth ramen is also good. Nice environment in the wood.
Alex NG — Google review
Must try their delicious apple pie, made with fresh apple fruit and the pastry is perfect. Eating a bowl of hot ramen after treking to see the snow monkey is the best feeling. Their pizza is also delicious, a thin dough base and very cheesey. If you like cutesey drinks please try their snow monkey coffee / latte. You will get a sweet marsmallow of monkey taking a dip in your drink. Very cute.

Yakiniku restaurant
Kobe Yakiniku Yoritomo is a restaurant that specializes in Japanese-style yakiniku (BBQ). The restaurant has a modern atmosphere and uses tatami mats to settle on the floor. The meat used in their dishes is of high quality, and they offer an app to order your food in English. The employees are very nice and helpful, speaking English well.
Highly recommend, very delicious and high quality food. The wagyu cuts were excellent. The best part was an app to download to order your food, English friendly. The employees were very nice, helpful and spoke English.
Annie Sobol — Google review
Korean style restaurant with a hardcore owner. She will try to sell you the "premium combo" deal. It is not exactly a deal and the food is average in Japanese standard. Would not recommend it. The overpowering sauce overpowered all the flavour of the food.
Brian Lam — Google review
Not the first time I eat Wagyu beef, but this place surprised me with the top quality A5 Wagyu beef. The atmosphere inside was really comfortable and cozy. The staffs was friendly too. You would feel the fatty, meaty, and umami flavors from the meat. And especially, this place was affordable and highly recommend if you want to try high-quality beef in Kawaguchi-ko.

Nice yakiniku with good food. I was not impress compare to the price. I would have expected either more quantity or less expensive compare to the location.

Very delicious Kobe Beef, A5 wagyu, big prawns, Korean assorted vegetable. Nice environment. Very good service. Definitely worth to try if u come Kawaguchiko.

The deluxe assorted meats was absolutely delicious!!! I've never had such high quality meat. Every single piece was silky smooth and perfectly seasoned. The grilled vegetables has a yummy miso sauce on them and they all tasted so fresh. The vegetable plate is such a good value!!!

Great place to eat beef. The special cuts were literally melt in your mouth. Beef tongue were chewy but very nice.

Visit at your own risk. Super slow fire to grill premium beef is such a waste. No char. Service is poor. Cleaniness bad. Grill plate is dirty. Restaurant is smelly. They make you post TripAdvisor reviews to get free drinks. Reviews untrue.
Tae Wu — Google review
Big disclaimer: overpriced The place is nice if you don’t mind the high price. The food is good and the meat melts in the mouth. Is it worth the price though? I dont think so. You can probably find a better Yakiniku spot for better and cheaper. I only recommend this place if you’re just tryna find some good overpriced meat.

The beef and abalone were good and fresh. The high ball was also good as well. Other than the beef soup that was so so at best the bibimbap was quite pleasant.

I reserve table at 6 pm. and I loss my table to Chinese customer when I went 6.05 pm. It’s terrible for the restaurant system. Japanese male employee has very bad manners. He accused me of looking at his face even though I asked him to wait for checking the bill because I hadn't finished talking with my daughter yet. I will not go this place anymore from now on .

Great selection of meat and the staff were very friendly. I was their first customer of the day for dinner and they gave good recommendations. The meat was very tender and delicious. Our last dinner in fujikawaguchiko and it was a wonderful way to close out our trip. Recommend getting the combo platter!!

The meat was pretty good, but because we ordered the meat platter, I wasn’t sure which cut I was eating most of the time 😅. I also couldn’t ask since I don’t speak Japanese. You order through an app, and honestly, I wish they would just get rid of the app. The use interface is terrible. Luckily, they have a physical menu.

The teppanyaki restaurant Tetsuyaki is a great place to enjoy Japanese cuisine with an outdoor seating area and friendly service. The food is excellent, and the cook/owner is very kind.
The best restaurant we visited in Kawaguchiko. Everything that we ordered exceeded our expectations. The food was so great. The cook/owner is so kind. In fact, we came back to have our lunch before going back to Tokyo. The staff, Ate Sheena, is very accommodating, too. Don't miss your chance to visit them when you're around Kawaguchico.

Few seats, recommended to get there before 6pm at night for dinner, the cooking smoke is quite big, dishes are big portion, good enough for a casual dinner, staff can speak simple English and they have English menu. Overall great but not too impressive

Came here twice during my stay at Fujikawaguchiko. Don't let the small size of the restaurant fool you, this place has big big flavor! You won't wait as long as the other food establishments nearby and you'll get good eats that fill you up.
David Pristave — Google review
A very small restaurant that only has 3 tables. We were there around 12.20pm for lunch. Waiting time was about 20 mins. We were given a table outdoors. Many were turned away at 1pm when we all thought it will be closed at 1.30pm. The meat served here was not too bad, pork, chicken n beef were all ok. But for sure, it isn't the best we have eaten. Service was generally alright, good enough for a place like this. A hot soup was provided as starters. However, if you did not ate at this place, not to worry too much. You didn't really miss much....

Tetsuyaki is a small restaurant with less than 10 square metres, including the good presentation area that housed only three tables. There is open space at the shop front that could accommodate three yo gour tables. The food is excellent, quick and hot, and the price is more than reasonable. It is a bargain.
Jeremy Sham — Google review
The foods has a pretty strong taste! Tried the pork kimchi (they say it is very spicy, but for me it is not spicy at all) but it is still very delicious! Grilled cheese chicken, grilled beef and also ordered an additional yakisoba (after knowing how good the previous three menus - better add another)
Eat Finder — Google review
Great place for a hearty meal. Large portions for the price. Must try the mushroom fried rice and fried chicken set. Honestly, everything is nice here. The staff is also friendly with simple English and English menus. The only downside is the small space only 12-14 seats. Ps, we wanted to go to the tempura restaurant nearby but it was an hour's wait. I'm glad we went to Tetsuyaki instead :)

This restaurant might be small, with only 3 tables and a small bar table, but they serve tasty food. I ordered a grilled squid and an okonomiyaki. The squid was tender, and the okonomiyaki was pretty good, though not as good as those in Osaka or famous restaurants. I suggest coming early, before 6 pm, to avoid longer waiting times.

We came across this place when we were waiting for our noon bus. Just a stone throw away from the bus terminal, it's a small humble shop that serve surprisingly amazing food. We had enough of hoto & tempura, so it's good to find something different. We ordered the tomato cheese Hamburg and pork onomiyaki and the portion is so huge that it can feed 3 pax. Will recommend for the worth of money.

This place is just heaven! Super yummy food that even my 3 kids (6-11yo) found their dishes so tasty! If they are the ones rating this, they would rate this 10 stars 🤩🌟💯. My youngest rated them 20 stars 😅 We ate twice here and are planning to dine here again before leaving for Tokyo. We'll definitely come back whenever we are in the area 😍🫶👌 Food ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ First time we ate here it was dinner we ordered beef steak, pork kimchi, chicken teriyaki, stir fried vegetables. Everything was soo good! Meat were tender and the veggies are just cooked right they've got that crunchiness (I hate overcooked veggies). For our second visit (lunch), we had okonomiyaki, stir fried noodles, and pork steak. Again, everything was so good! They also serve beer. Price is value for money, you get your money's worth. We didn't mind splurging a bit cause we left feeling full and more than satisfied..with a happy tummy actually! Place ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (casual dining) Though it was small (only three 4-person table and 2-people bar table fit inside) it was cozy like eating at home. They also have tables outside but bec I liked that they have a very small toilet inside and they tried to make the place look nice by putting real live golden photos. If you are looking for some place that is IG worthy and a bit of fine dining this is not the place for you. The only downside is it could get a little stuffy inside and you could come out smelling like food a bit. Service ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We met the Japanese owner, he was very nice. The staff were also super nice and accommodating especially Ms. Shiela 😍 she was very hospitable and entertained us whenever she can. We had a bit of chat because she's also a Filipina ☺️. Service was fast, they quickly attend to their customers' needs. When we actually got there the first time the place was full and we had to wait outside because it was a bit crowded. It was really chilly that time and as soon as we were out the door Ms. Shiela asked us to come and wait inside cause it's warm and we'll be more comfortable waiting inside. I really appreciated the gesture cause we have kids with us. 🤩😍🫶

A small teppanyaki outlet with 3 tables inside and another 3 outside. Simple food on the menu which is in English. The waitress there, whom I assume is the lady boss, spoke decent English. Probably explains why almost all those eating there are tourist from the language they spoke, including me😊 Ordered okonomiyaki and beef steak on a hotplate. Very average in taste.

Credit card 👎 cash only place. Really, small place. Only 4 seatings. Get ready to wait in line (it was around 1730 for us on a Friday). Food is great. Surprisingly enough, only tourists come here. Staff speaks little English, but it's more than enough to place order, pay, etc. Per usual, use Google translate if you have difficulties, or have an unusual request. We got okonomiyaki (I got seafood + pork + cheese, extra 200 yen for the pork), garlic fried rice, onion garlic chicken, garlic hamburger, and a small Fuji salad (quite unique flavor, at least for me). Everything was delicious. We wanted to get yakisoba but they ran out. Unfortunate. Overall, great food. And parking is right in the back of the building (they say so with a sign on the door).

A small cosy place with only three tables and two places ar the bar. However the food is incredible. We ordered the suggested Teriyaki chicken and a medium salad to share. The salad was served first with a hot sunny-side up egg on top. The salad was garnished with delicious crunchy dried onions. Afterwards we received our chicken, fries, as well as additional rice and miso soup. Extremely tasty. The staff was also very helpful and friendly.
