Embarked on a transformative journey to Shree Somenath Jyotirling Temple, and it turned out to be the best weekend of my life. The 10-hour scenic route from Ahmedabad Geeta Mandir, traversed in a comfortable AC sleeper bus (priced at 600 INR), set the tone for the upcoming spiritual retreat.
Opted for a two-day stay at a hotel, investing 1000 INR, excluding meals. The anticipation heightened as I approached the temple, only to encounter a unique security measure—electronics were to be left outside. After a meticulous check and a brief waiting period, I stepped into the temple premises.
The temple's interior is a testament to architectural brilliance, adorned with intricate details that hold historical and spiritual significance. The soul-stirring instrumental music resonates through the air, creating an indescribable, ear-pleasing ambiance. It's a sensory experience that transcends the ordinary.
Beyond the temple, the surrounding places share the same divine aura, offering a serene escape. Visiting nearby spots like Triveni Sangam and Dehotsarg Tirth added layers to the spiritual journey, each place contributing to the overall serenity.
The atmosphere is not just calming; it's a profound disconnect from the relentless hustle of the outside world. It's an oasis of peace, allowing for introspection and spiritual rejuvenation.
Adding to the overall charm are the warm and welcoming people, creating an environment of inclusivity and shared spirituality. Every corner explored seemed to unfold a new layer of the rich cultural and religious tapestry.
Venturing into nearby places enriched the experience, providing a comprehensive understanding of the spiritual significance of the region. Shree Somenath Jyotirling Temple isn't merely a destination; it's a transformative journey, a sanctuary for the soul, leaving an indelible mark on the essence of the weekend.

Triveni Sangam Atithigruh is a guest house located near the Triveni Ghat and Bhalika Tirth, making it convenient for visitors to explore these sacred sites. The guest house offers comfortable rooms within walking distance of various attractions. However, some guests have noted issues with bathroom maintenance and hot water availability, so it's advisable to inquire about these amenities before booking during colder months. The Triveni Sangam itself holds great religious significance for Hindu rituals after death.
I visited Somnath last month.i came here with my family .all site seen is just near to atithigruh.temple is half km from Dharamsala.which is ok because Triveni is just opposite to room.nice environment .must recommend who like peace .

If we are to talk about the location of this guest house it is good you'll find everything at walking distance. Rooms are good but bathrooms are not maintained the one where we stayed had no roof and they didn't have a hot water facility for bathing but after some inquiry we found out there are taps where you get hot water but were closed at that time. We had to bathe with cold water in an open bathroom at 5am freaking cold 🥶 so if you're visiting during winters ask them about hot water and check bathrooms. Other than that everything is perfect Jai Somnath....🕉️

The Triveni sangam is an auspicious place for all the kriya or can say rituals after death in Hindu religion. There are people to sell the atta, biscuits for fishes and seeds for birds basically seagulls and ducks. The steps are slippery and dangerous to take a dip. But they have already given cautious instructions saying that not go beyond the limit as it is too deep

I would not really recommend as Rates are of Hotel and name is Dharamshala of Rs. 1500 with just big room and 2 double beds.
Lots n lots of mosquitoes due to open surrounding, No sufficient curtain, no towel, No hot drinking water, location is little odd, need to take auto everytime to go anywhere which takes around Rs. 50-100. I would recommend Lilavati / Maheshwari dharamshala at much lower rates and prime location or Hotel majestic even if it is 1.3 kms far from Temple.
Still if you're booking it then only book AC room, derails mentioned above and not Non AC room which are at Rs. 1000 with solar Geaser which would work only in the morning hours 5-7 am.

Welcome to Surya Mandir, one of the oldest sun temples in Gujarat, located less than 1.5 kilometers away from Somnath Temple. The temple is dedicated to Surya Dev and Chaya Devi and is believed to have been visited by the Pandavas during their agyatvas. The current structure dates back to the 14th century, with limited historical details available.
Just next to Suraj Mandir there is Kund where it is said who takes a dip into pond will cure it's any diseases related to skin. But It is not maintain at by local people. Suggest not to take only can view carefully. You have to stepped down through rocky steps.
This place is located at nested mandir Kamnath Mahadev Mandir, Surya Mandir, Pandav Caves, Hingalj Mata Mandir.
It hardly takes 10 mins from Laxmi Narayan Mandir and it take 20 rupees if you want to go by auto-rickshaw.

Shri Golok Dham Teerth, situated on the banks of the Hiran River in Somnath, holds great significance in Hindu history. It is believed to be the place from where Lord Krishna embarked on his divine journey to NeejDham. This sacred site marks the spot where Lord Krishna left his mortal body after being wounded by an arrow. The complex houses multiple temples and features an impression of Lord Krishna's Charan Paduka at its center.
The spiritual practices and rituals conducted at the temple seemed to be rooted in a deep understanding of mindfulness and inner peace. The gentle chants and rituals contributed to a meditative experience, allowing individuals to connect with their inner selves and find solace.
The temple staff exhibited warmth and hospitality, fostering a welcoming environment for visitors seeking solace or a moment of reflection. The entire experience left a lasting impression, underscoring the temple's role as a haven for those in search of peace and spiritual rejuvenation.

=> It is also known as Dehotsarg Teerth and located on the bank of the Hiran river near the Triveni Sangam and around 2 km from the Somnath temple.
=> It is believed that Lord Krishna, after being shot by an arrow of hunter Jara at Bhalka Tirth, took rest here.
=> Here you can not only feel the divinity but also can have a breathtaking view of the river with some migratory birds.
=> Inside the complex there are many temples which include Geeta Mandir with statue of Lord Krishna, Lakshminarayan mandir having the statues of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi, Krishnacharan paduka, Cave of Baldevji, Golok ghat, Kashi Vishwanath mandir, Mahaprabhuji bethak and Bhimnath mandir
=> When you are in Somnath, this is the must visit place and should always be included in your itinerary.

This place has its own significance in the history of Hinduism. This is the very place where Lord Krishna, after being fatally wounded due to the arrow shot by hunter Jara, left his mortal body to proceed to his heavenly abode in Goloka. To depict the same, there is also an impression of Lord Krishna's Charan Paduka that is kept at the very center of the complex.
Apart from this, there are multiple temples inside the complex itself. For example, the Gita Mandir has a beautiful statue of Lord Krishna, while the temple's pillars have the entire verses of The Holy Bhagwad Gita encored upon them. The Lakshmi Narayan Temple inside the complex houses the statues of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi while giving information about all the 24 avatars of the Lord, including their pictorial depictions and descriptions.
The entire complex in itself being on the bank of the Hiran river, the surrounding area is stunning. There are also plenty of seagulls flying around, so be careful. However, the vast expanse of the land on the opposite side of the river and the lush green vegetation are soothing to watch. A must-visit place to feel the divinity and the burst of positive energy !!!

It is actually one large compound called ‘Golokdham Tirth’ that houses some 7-8 different temples. Gita mandir was one of them. TripAdvisor should have listed Golokdham tirth as one single destination instead of listing all temples inside it as separate entities.
The main attraction for me in Golokdham was balram gufa - a cave inside which there is a hole. It is suggested that Lord Balram left his human incarnation in this cave and left for his heavenly abode in the form of Sheshnaag from the hole inside the cave.
Other attractions include Lord Krishna’s charan paduka.
This is the place where Krishna came to leave behind his human incarnation and left for his heavenly abode. Apparently, Lord Krishna, after being shot beneath the banyan tree located in ‘Bhalka tirth’, travelled all the way to ‘Golokdham tirth’ to leave for his heavenly abode.

Once you reach Somnath temple, all the autos and the cab drivers will hand you a list of places that you can see. This is one of those places. It is important as it is related to Lord Krishna.
The temple is beautiful. There is a step well outside the tempe. But the compound hasnt been well maintained. I would say a normal temple compound which has no historical, mythological significance is more properly maintained that this was.
There are washrooms in the compund.

Bhalka Teerth is one of the most significant temples of Somnath city. En route to Veraval, it is considered as one of the must visit places of pilgrimage in Gujarat and among the popular places to visit in Somnath. Bhalka Teerth Temple is dedicated to Lord Sri Krishna. It is believed that this was the place where Jara, the hunter, mistakenly shot an arrow at the feet of Lord Krishna, due to which the Lord left his earthly existence for his heavenly abode According to mythology, Lord Krishna was meditated under a Peepal tree here. Only then, Jara, the poacher, mistook the foot of the Lord for that of a deer and shot straight through it. The arrows came in the feet of God and started bleeding. The hunter then realized his mistake and asked for a confession with God. This incident symbolizes Krishna's departure from the earth and was the sign of the end of Dwapara Yuga. The meaning of arrow is known as Bhal, so this pilgrimage has been known as Bhalka Tirth.
The temple has ornate sculptures, both inside and outside. Inside the temple, there is a Banyan trees dot the courtyard of the spectacular Krishna temple that is built in sandstone. Inside the shrine is an unusual idol of Shri Krishna in a semi-reclining position. The temple also contains a beautiful tribhangi idol of Lord Krishna playing his flute.
After being wounded by a hunter's arrow, Lord Krishna walked a few kilometres towards Dehotsarg from Bhalka Tirth. He bathed in the Triveni Sangam and then left his body at Dehotsarg.

The temple is getting heritage touchdown under supervision of Govt. One Ghat like structure is available here.
One Shivaling is located inside the temple compound.
Bhalka Teerth is situated almost 4 kilometres away from the Somnath temple. Presently the government has planned to develop this temple also into a major tourist attraction.
Somnath/Veraval City/Bhalka is very well connected via road and rail network. The nearest railway station is Veraval and the nearest airports are Diu & Rajkot. Bus services are available from Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Rajkot, Dwarka etc.
According to Mahabharata, the Kurukshetra war resulted in the death of all the hundred sons of Gandhari. On the night before Duryodhana's death, Krishna visited Gandhari to offer his condolences. Gandhari felt that Krishna knowingly did not put an end to the war, and in a fit of rage and sorrow, Gandhari cursed that Krishna, along with everyone else from the Yadu dynasty, would perish after 36 years. Krishna himself knew and wanted this to happen as he felt that the Yadavas had become very haughty and arrogant (adharmi), so he ended Gandhari's speech by saying "tathastu" (so be it).
After 36 years passed, a fight broke out between the Yadavas, at a festival, who killed each other. His elder brother, Balarama, left his body through Yoga. Krishna retired into the forest and started meditating under a tree.
The Mahabharata also narrates the story of a hunter who becomes an instrument for Krishna's departure from the world. The hunter Jara mistook Krishna's partly visible left foot for that of a deer, and shot an arrow, mortally wounding him. After Jara realised his mistake, while still bleeding, Krishna told Jara, "O Jara, you were Vali in your previous birth, killed by myself as Rama in Treta Yuga. Here you had a chance to even it and since all acts in this world are done as desired by me, you need not worry for this". Then Krishna, with his physical body ascended back to his eternal abode, Goloka and this event marks departure of Krishna from the earth. The news was conveyed to Hastinapur and Dwaraka by eyewitnesses to this event. The place of this incident is believed to be Bhalka, near Somnath temple.
According to Puranic sources, Krishna's disappearance marks the end of Dvapara Yuga and the start of Kali Yuga, which is dated to 17/18 February 3102 BCE.
Jay Shri Krishna 🙏

The Bhalka Tirth Temple in Somnath, Gujarat, is a place of immense religious significance and historical importance. It holds a special place in Hindu mythology as the site where Lord Krishna is believed to have been accidentally wounded by an arrow, leading to his departure from this mortal world.
The temple itself is well-maintained, and the architecture reflects the traditional Gujarati style, with intricate carvings and beautiful designs. The inner sanctum houses a captivating idol of Lord Krishna, which is the main focus of devotion for the countless pilgrims who visit here every year.
One of the most awe-inspiring aspects of the Bhalka Tirth Temple is the Peepal tree, which is believed to be a reincarnation of the tree under which Lord Krishna rested after the incident.

This ancient holy place is situated on the way from Veraval to Prabhas. According to the story, the Yadavas, intoxicated by alcohol, were killed in mutual feud. Being upset with this, Lord Shri Krishna was sitting in Yoga Samadhi under the Pipal tree by placing his left foot on his right foot. Then a hunter named Jara shot an arrow at the lotus feet of Lord Krishna considering it to be the mouth of a deer. This arrow of the hunter hit the sole of the left foot of Lord Shri Krishna. When the hunter reached near his prey, he saw that his prey was not a deer but a Yadav named Purushottam. He got scared and started asking for forgiveness for his crime. Then Lord Shri Krishna assured him.
"Whatever has happened has happened only as per my wish." Saying this, he forgave the vyadha and after penetrating Vasundhara with his kanti, he left for Nijdham. Here the vyadha shot Lord Shri Krishna with a Bhalla (arrow), that is why this place is called Bhalla (Bhalka) Tirtha.

The temple commemorates the episode when a poacher, Jara, mistakenly hit the Lord with his arrow, thinking it’s a deer. The Lord left for his heavenly abode after this episode, but not before walking 4km from here to Shri Goloknathdham Tirth. In the 9th century AD Shri Vallabhacharya gave discourses on Shrimad Bhagavat Gita here for 9 full days.
The best time to visit is between November to February, and during Janmashtami.
Somnath is the nearest railway station, is well connected to other major towns in Gujarat and India. The temple city lies 82km from Junagadh, 270km from Bhavnagar and 120km from Porbandar. The capital city of Gujarat, Ahmedabad is just 400km away from Somnath.

Love the beach, love the waves.
We sun bathed and actually bathed in the water & it was a perfect weekend thing!
However the sand sticks for far too long and gets kinda annoying.
The activities are great on the beach too.

The only place in the world to see Asiatic Lions. Very well maintained, and the forest staff is continuously working towards protection of this iconic species.
Also home to Indian Leopards.
The sightings of this majestic beast are on luck only but the staff also supports you in sighting one.

It was a wonderful experience at Devaliya GIR safari.
We booked gypsy slot at 9am via online. They have started the tour on time from the booking center, it’s about 5-7km to reach the entrance of GIR safari spot.
It’s a 1hr ride, we saw 7 lions and countless leopards, spotted deers.
At the entrance food court, rest room and souvenir shop.

Have gone to Devaliya park. Gir is closed during monsoon season. We started our journey from Junagadh and our auto driver took us through a nice village side road . Weather was good and cloudy. Map showed 1.5 hrs but road conditions are not good . It took us almost 2.5hrs . We had a online ticket done so didnt have to wait much in counter line. Though my ticket was for 4 to 4.30 i didnt have to wait and got seat at 3.15 wala bus. It was suppose to be a 30 mins ride in bus for which we paid 150 rs per person. For jeep u need to pay around 4k. We saw 4 lioness, peacock, leopard in captivity, black buck deer. It felt The trip ended as soon as it started . If u r taking the bus may be buy 2 to 3 slots over the day. The park has food area , super expensive souvenirs shops.

Amazing experience. Witnessed pride of lions in the open along with plethora of wildlife. Caged Man-eater leopards were another site to watch. The guide and driver were thoroughly professional. It was a learning experience that it's the locals who manage the entire setup. Must visit if one is around.

Gir Safari is one of the most sought-after wildlife adventures in India. It is a thrilling experience that allows you to witness the majestic Asiatic lions in their natural habitat. Located in the state of Gujarat, Gir National Park is spread over an area of 1,412 square kilometers and is home to more than 600 species of plants and animals.
The Gir Safari offers an opportunity to explore the beautiful and diverse terrain of Gir National Park on an open jeep, accompanied by a trained guide. The safari takes you through the dense forests, deciduous trees, open grasslands, and rocky hills, where you can spot a variety of wildlife including the Asiatic lion, Indian leopard, sloth bear, sambar deer, spotted deer, wild boar, and many more.
The safari also provides a chance to witness the rare and endangered birds that inhabit the park, including the white-backed and long-billed vultures, Indian eagle-owl, and Indian pitta. You will get to experience the thrill of being in close proximity to these animals and birds, and observe their natural behavior in the wild.
To make the most out of your Gir Safari experience, it is recommended to book your tickets in advance.

The safari was good for us. We spotted a few lions an dour guide was very nice. But another group among us in different jeep had to bribe their guide to show them lions and was very rude! It was actually a shock that he kept evading spots of Lions spotting till he was given money.

Gir Safari has it's own name in wild life safari. We my family i visited there, it was awesome.
First, you don't need to book online tickets as it was available offline without any waiting period.
Mode:-( Bus/Jeep)
With my opinion Bus is much better than Jeep safari as AC is available in bus and cost in Bus per person was 190/- where Jeep safari price was 3,000/- approx. We choosed Bus. Because they ensured for 100% lion sighting and we saw.
Food:-
Food options are available inside it.
Staff behaviour:-
The driver assigned to us was a local of Sasan village. His behaviour was really good. We cooperated him and in return he allow us to watch more than the time limit. Really salute for good staff of Gujarat Tourism.
Conclusion. Hard recommend place.
Neeraj Nagra — Google review
In India, only in Gir, you can see lion in their natural habitat. Book your Gir Lion Safari in advance for confirm booking from their official website only. It's easily available as compare to Jim Corbett or Ranthambore.
But book your safari in advance as much as possible.
Their helpline number and email id is not working so don't expect any support from their end.
Lion sighting chances are very high in Gir but you can book multiple safaris but from one mobile number or ID you can book one safari in a day.

By far, the most beautiful and lush Mandir campus! This Mandir is so serene and divine, just by walking in its grounds you feel at such peace and calmness. There is lush bushes, trees and groves of different fruits and shrubs; which are well attended to and ever kept green and lush even in the hot summer months. This Mandir is a must visit for anyone coming to Junagadh! From the Mandir you can clearly see Mount Girnar and the surrounding mountain hills. The Mandir has beautiful Murtis and unique architecture. Below the Main Mandir is the Nilkanth Varni Mandap, which also has a very interesting design. All of the volunteers and Pujya Santo are very very kind, friendly, approachable and more than happy to help, they all look after guests and visitors brilliantly. The utara accommodation here is first class! The rooms are superbly clean and modern, rooms come with and without AC, with warm water showers and bathrooms ensuite. The Mandir also provides free meals to all 3 times a day, as well as a special dining area for those staying in the utara. Adjacent to the Mandir is the newly opened Vidhya Mandir (School), which offers amazing western-style education with modern and new facilities unparallell with many others.

This is the only museum in Junagadh dedicated to the Babi dynasty who ruled this state from 1730 to 1948. The museum was moved from the Nawabs' palace in the Old town to a small and rather miserable castle, because since 1948 the Indian administration did not care at all to maintain the ancient monuments (even the Royal Palace !) and let them fall into ruins.
Yet the nababs deserved much better. The benefits of this regime for Junagadh was immense (arts, architecture, education, government, technical progress etc.). Although the last Babi King, Mohammad Mahabat Khanji III, made the mistake to join Pakistan at the time of Indian independence, he was a good ruler and a good man. According to Sir Cyril Hancock, the former Resident of Western States, the Nawab was well loved by his people and the state was well administered. Hancock had a high opinion of Nawab's personal qualities. He established a kind of welfare state. During his reign, the Nawab oversaw the opening of the Willingdon Dam, the construction of the Bahadur Khanji Library (named after his ancestor, the first Nawab) and the opening of the Mahabat Khan Free College.
The city of Jnagadh became one of the most beautiful cities in India with a lot of outstanding buildings which were not properly maintained and completely neglected after 1948 and as far as 2023, when a few of these buildings were finally restored.
Mahabat Khanji was widely known for his love of animals, particularly dogs. At one point, he owned over 2000 high-pedigree dogs. However, Mahabat Khanji's love for animals also extended to the regional wildlife, particularly the Asiatic lion, which at the time was on the verge of extinction in India. The Nawab helped to forestall this by preserving vast tracts of the Gir forest in order to provide the lions with a stable habitat.
In fact, the museum is not a "Junagadh Museum", but rather a Museum of the Nawabs' rule. One of the many proofs that the current hindu administration wants to destroy the memory of the Indian muslim history, tradition and civiization. Another example is the ridiculous historical falsification of the Uparkot fort where there is not one single mention of the Babi kings and where they want us to believe that the beautiful Jama mosque was the palace of the legendary Ranakdevi queen who never existed just because "locals" believe that !

The Junagadh Museum offers a captivating journey through the cultural and historical tapestry of the region, making it a must-visit destination for anyone curious about Gujarat's rich heritage. Housed within a stately building, the museum's exhibits showcase a diverse array of artifacts, ranging from ancient relics to intricate artwork. Each exhibit is thoughtfully curated, providing insights into the lives, traditions, and achievements of the people who have called Junagadh home over the centuries. From finely crafted sculptures to archaeological finds, every item on display offers a glimpse into the region's past. One of the museum's highlights is its collection of artifacts from the Ashoka period, including inscriptions and relics that shed light on the emperor's reign and his influence in the region. Additionally, the museum boasts an impressive array of textiles, jewelry, and household items, offering visitors a comprehensive overview of Gujarat's cultural heritage. The museum's well-designed exhibits and informative displays make it an educational and enriching experience for visitors of all ages. Whether you're a history buff, an art enthusiast, or simply a curious traveler, a visit to the Junagadh Museum promises to be a memorable journey through the annals of time.

Housed in the beautiful old palace of Junagadh, the Durbar Hall Museum is one of the best museums in Gujarat as it preserves the treasures of the rulers of Junagadh. The Durbar Hall was the court for the former Nawabs of Junagadh and was later converted into a museum to preserve the wealth of the Junagadh Maharajas. The magnificent collection is owned by the 19th century Nawabs who were discovered here years ago.

Darbar Hall Museum preserves the treasures of the Junagarh rulers Nawabs of Junagadh. Darbar Hall Museum houses different galleries exhibiting around 2900 artefacts- picture gallery, palanquin room, textile & costumes gallery, weapons gallery and Picture gallery.
The artefacts like weapons, armour, palanquins, sparkling chandeliers, howdahs, diamond woven carpets, photos, gowns, silver items, jewellery and paintings that depict the lifestyles of the Nawabs are the major highlights of the museum.
There are displays of textiles and of arms. Further developments are planned, but much work is required on the fabric of the building and displays to bring it up to the standards.
The surroundings of the attraction also need a lot of uplifting. Currently it seems very shabby.
Attractions: Weapons, Armour, Palanquins, Chandeliers, Howdahs from the Days of the Nawabs, Huge Carpet Woven in Junagadh's Jail, Photos of the Last Nawab with his Numerous Beloved Dogs.

A fort and town was established at the foothills of Girnar hill during reign of the Maurya Empire. Abhira Chudasama King Graharipu Ahir (r. c.940-c.982) cleared the old structure from the jungle. and laid the foundations of the new citadel. Dewan of Junagadh State, Haridas Viharidas had restored the fort In 1893-94. Government of Gujarat initiated restoration of the fort and the structures inside it In July 2020.
Structures -
Jumma Masjid built by Mahmud Begada.
The Tomb of Nuri Shah is close to the mosque.
There are two Wells in the Uparkot — the Adi Kadi Vav is descended by a long flight of steps; and the Navghan Kuvo, cut to a great depth in the soft rock, and with a circular staircase.
Uparkot Caves are 2nd-3rd century double storeyed Buddhist cave complex located in the Uparkot.
Nawabi Lake is a square artificial lake.

History: Said to have been built in 319 BC, the fort was the architectural work of Chandragupta. But the fort changed many hands. Remnants of different rulers can be seen in some parts of the structure. For example, on the rampart above the gate is an inscription of Mandalika III, dated 1450. Another emblem is in the form of a 10 inch bore cannon of bell-metal - 17 feet long and 4 feet 8-inch round at the mouth. This gun was brought from Diu, where it was left by the Ottoman Turks when they were defeated in the Siege of Diu in the mid-16th century.

About the location: This ancient fort is believed to have been built in 319 BC by the Mauryan emperor Chandragupta, though it has been extended many times. In places, the ramparts reach 20m high. It’s been besieged 16 times, and legend has it that the fort once withstood a 12-year siege. The views over the city and east to Girnar Hill are superb, and within its walls, there is a magnificent former mosque, a set of millennia-old Buddhist caves and two fine step-wells. The fort has two fine step-wells both cut from solid rock. The circular, 41m-deep Adi Kadi Vav was cut in the 15th century and named after two slave girls who used to fetch water from it. Navghan Kuvo, 52m deep and designed to help withstand sieges, is almost 1000 years old and its magnificent staircase spirals around the well shaft. Look for the centuries-old dovecotes.

It's a fort which used to accommodate whole town in it. Great place-- not to be missed. Very historical place. If you can go on foot it is definitely better but if you can not, there is an electrical car which takes you to the places in the fort. It takes around 2 hrs to move around and if you can spend little more time it should be better. It is restored recently but still more work has to be done.

Uparkot was really a must visit place before the government made huge commercial development inside the fort. Now it's less historical and more urban. You will have to pay separately for visiting the Baudhh Caves which are already there inside the fort, and for the fort itself there are entry fees of Rs.100/- per person.
It is a great historical place, but the government has changed it to a commercial place by building Game Zones, Food Zones, Sports & Entertainment Zones inside the fort. They just vanished the original beauty of the historical fort. I am not recommending visiting Uparkot now.

I have had a chance to visit it with my family but we didn't have much time to enjoy it thoroughly, though we managed to go through the main attractions in this fort and learned more about the history.
The type of people there were, old weapons used by the king and the facilities provided in the fort to make people's lives easy. It was a very good and memorable experience!
Take some time and explore this fort with your friends and family.

A zoo having unique collection of animals as well as birds.l.. Best part is you will see Kangaroos too. Best zoo I have visited so far. You will get to see Lions and Tigers very closely. There is a bus service as well which will take you to newly developed cages which have lions, deers, beers and wild dogs. It will cost you 50Rs extra. Adding few of the pics that I had clicked.

The zoo was really nice.
But maintenance of it was not up to the mark. Cleanliness was not cool.
I hope authorities will try to make it more beautiful and provide more facilities to animals so that they can survive more and be happy.
Birds were the highlights of the zoo for me since there were many birds in the zoo.

The best zoo I've ever been to. The animals are well-fed. It has a variety of different scare animals. I sighted so many amazing animals of different species and the zoo educationist named, Shreya, was so detailed about each of them. I enjoyed my visit and it was an awesome exploration.

One of the oldest zoo of India - almost 160 years old..
Needs lot of maintenance. Officials should understand this to maintain the glory of a zoo which could be a matter of pride for Gujarat
They do have variety of wild animals, birds, reptiles, fishes, etc.
It's definitely fun time for kids to see variety of animals and birds
Setback was the cages, play area, etc which were in bad shape.
They do have ample parking space.
Location is easily approachable.

Nice place to visit in free time. Best place to refresh from your busy and hectic life. You also come to know about such animal lifestyles and their behaviour moreover you find it entertaining. Also it has a public garden to spend our leisure time and one safari bus also organised by that zoo. In that you find interesting places to visit. Some rare species of birds and animals are available there.

Located near Sonrakh River Bridge on the Junagadh-Rajkot highway in Junagadh city.
Considered one of the prime Junagadh tourist attractions, the zoo authorities are famed for having wild and free moving Asiatic lions that have been wiped out from most of Asia and are nowadays found only in the nearby Gir Forest. Apart from the Asiatic Lions, the Junagadh Zoo is home to 700 mammalian species, 115 reptiles, and 200 hundred birds. Chowsingha or the four-horned antelopes, Indian Leopards, chital, sambar, blackbucks, black panther, hippopotamus, Crocodiles, Ostriches, spotted deer, flying squirrel, monkey, etc. are the main animal species found in the zoo.
Lush-green Ravantad tad palms, foxtail palms, tall Ashoka trees, and large banyan trees visible from the busy road add to the beauty of the zoo’s general surroundings which otherwise resemble that of the Gir forest, the last abode of Asiatic lions in the world. They've taken away the tigers as they were nowhere to be seen during the visit. As of the conditions of animals were not in a proper manner. Wildlife should be protected at any cost as they are very essential for our mother nature. Taking utmost care of them and providing necessary facilities will do a little part on ourselves to ensure the beautiful mother nature.

Girnar mountain peak is a well-known destination for Hindu and Jain pilgrims, with numerous temples spread across its forested terrain. The mountain rises dramatically from the surrounding plains, offering stunning views to those who brave the daunting climb up its 10,000 stone steps. To reach the uppermost temples requires a full day's walk, but visitors are rewarded with breathtaking sunrises and an unforgettable hiking experience.
Girnar has the highest pick of the gujarat.
There are approx 10000 steps. Rope way takes you till Ambaji. If you want to visit Jain temple, you have to come down by walk or “palkhi”.
From Ambaji, you can go further towards Gorakhnath and Guru Datatrey. Its approx 2800 steps from Ambaji.
Parking: plenty of parking available near to the rope way. Its on small ground
and side of the road so its free but not secure.

Girnar, also known as Girinagar or Revatak Parvata, situated near Junagadh. Is considered older than the Himalayas, Girnar, the mountain and its range are considered sacred. It is an important pilgrimage site for both Hindus , who gather here during the Girnar Parikrama festival. Later on some Jain temples were also built, some of which are very recent. Girnar is one of the five major ‘tirthas’ attributed to the ‘panch kalyanakas’ of various ‘Jain tirthankaras’. Girnar is also significant among Shiva devotees for the so-called “mystic space-time” of the mountain range, with the presence and turnover of different sects of Sadhu Babas, Nath sect and others. Flora and fauna fairs are also held at the mountains, such as the Maha Shivratri fair. It hosts a number of temples and some historical spots across its range. Amidst the lush green Gir Forest, the mountain range serves as the hub of religious
Here is the some places which are not so much wellknown but must visit places around the girnar , or you can say on the route of PARIKRAMA Gaumukhi, Bordevi, Hanuman Temple, Sita madhi, Hanuman Madhi, Kamandal Kund, Datatrey Shikhar, Hasnapur Dam and many more. The photos are more of the places which is mot so famous.
Now the Girnar roap way is working in its full strength and it is now easy to reach to the top of mountain and in between clouds and also infrant of JAGAT JANANI MA AMBA BHAVANI.
The crest of the mountain (3330 feet) is reached by a steep flight of stairs. Here is an ancient temple of Hindu Goddess Amba mata temple, which is much resorted to by newly married couples . The bride and bridegroom have their clothes tied together, and attended by their male and female relations, adore the goddess and present cocoa-nuts and other offerings. This pilgrimage is supposed to procure for the couple along continuance of wedded bliss.
I am giving every one who like mountaineering and see the photos and find the remote places for the adventure purpose and specially live in the clean and green environment

GIRNAR:
Let me share you my experience of THE Girnar.
Journey from Ahmedabad To Junagadh via Train. Railway station To Girnar destination via Auto. You can negotiate there its fun.
Started climbing after refreshment at hotel and breakfast at around 4AM. ( Don't worry, you wont be alone, you will see many people starting to climb at this time. Also locals will be there to guide you)
Bring Food (Fast food) and water with you in Bag.
Girnar has around 10K steps (one way) and highest peak of Gujarat state.
There are more than 3 temples in different level of Peak.
Last destination would be Dattatrey Temple at 10k steps.
3 ways to hike: Trekking, Ropeway and doli.
Ropeway will help you till 4k steps at Ambaji temple. You will have to strike for Dattatrey by walking only or Doli.
It took approx 2 hours to reach Ambaji temple (4k step). The view from there is just spledid fr. From there, it would take another 2 hours to reach 10k steps at dattatrey. And The view from highest peak there will literally take your breathe away. Its one in a lifetime experience.
Its like go before you turn 30 experience to me.
They also provide you free lunch there in one of temples idk name.
In my opinion, Go visit there only in Monsoon as you wont be tired in this season, also wont be needing drinking water much. Winter would be difficult as your body wont allow you to trekk in this temprature. And dont even think about summer lol.
Its a one day Trekking so you can plan ut on saturday so you can rest sunday and go to jail, i mean job, on monday.
We walked +24km in Girnar (smart watch).
Attaching Photos and videos i have taken in Girnar for your reference.

From Ropeway you reach to mata temple and it's in the middle of jain and dattatray mountain. The steps are really hard so please rent wooden stick. Come up with snacks & drinking water because expensive over here.
Only one problem is there tourist throws all the waste in the mountains so it is damaging natural elements and also it's harmful how can they clean the mountain deeply. Please use your mind and dustbin.

Girnar also known as Girnar Hill or
main tourist attraction in the area, top of the hill, is a group of beautifully carved Jain temples built between 1128 and 1500. Neminath, the 22nd tirthankara.
There is the peak of Ambaji, with a height of 3,330 ft (1,010 m), which is famous for the temple dedicated to the goddess Amba Mata dating back to the 12th century.
The steps go down and up again to Gorakhnath Peak at 1116m (3666 ft) above sea level, where there are footprints of the rishi Gorakhnath.
The steps again go down and there is Kamandal Kund and another peak where there are footprints of Guru Dattatreya. The steps to Dattatrey Peak are quite difficult.
Visitors must climb 8,500 steps to reach the top of the hill, so it is best to start early in the morning (before 6 am)

Guru Dattatreya Bhagwan (God) has been here for a long time for meditation.
If you coming by train get down at Junagadh Station and catch a bus/Auto from there to reach the mountain.
From there we have ropeway till Ambaji temple i.e at 5000 steps and from there we need to go by walk to reach Dattatreya temple.
We have lodges, in Dharamshala near the mountain but during peak time try to make your stay plan at Junagadh itself.
Temple is located on Girnar mountain at 3295 ft above sea level and at 9999 steps . We need to cross 3 Hills to reach this temple
It's very crowded on Shivarathri and During peak time, we have a separate route to come down which is laid around the mountain and total steps will be around 25000 including ascending and descending
We have a Ropeway facility till Ambaji temple only after that next 5000 steps need to go by walk to reach Dattatreya temple.
During Shivarathri or peak time, we need to stand in long queues to get our turn for the ropeway.
Food stalls, water, and other refreshment are available throughout the journey.
People are friendly over here and the Gujrat police force will be safeguarding this place.
It was an excellent experience climbing the hills. it's Worth a visiting once in life.
During normal days, the Dattatreya temple closes at 12 midnight and opens in the morning at 5:30 am.
During Normal days, on average a person can take around 6 to 7 hrs. to climb 10000 steps, and during Peak hours or festival time it takes 12-15 hours to finish 25000 steps ascending and descending
On normal days the shops along the climbing path are generally closed by 9:00 pm and again start opening by 2 or 3 am at the night.
On Poornima days the temple is open throughout the night so no problem. It's an adventurous trip and experiences the mesmerizing atmosphere
We have network issues over here so plan accordingly.
Try to climb the mountain early in the morning or during winter.

Total 9999 steps to travel, with the help of Ropeway I reached around 5300 steps and then we should walk remaining step towards Guru Datta Temple. The ropeway time closes at 6 evening that is the last rope time. You can also walk, It takes around 5 to 6 hours upside and 3 hours for return, if you want to go by walk there is no waiting time but if you want to try ropeway you must buy ticket in advance because I waited around one and half hour for a ropeway not a bad experience but not good experience also .the weather was so beautiful. it’s a walk to heaven . 🙌

Worth to visit this places. I loved to walk on steps it's about 1200 step to reach this temple after ropeway. Ropeway is itself an amazing experience but to reach this temple is an challenge task and need some extra stamina to climb that way. So should carry electroll or glucose tables to feel hydrated. Best time to visit this place is winter because of weather. Summer will make you more tired n you will not enjoy the climbing and rainy season will make it more difficult to climb through steps. So better to visit this place between October and November or between Feb to March.

The Khambhalida Buddhist Caves appear to be a neglected site, with no known management or promotion for tourism. Located only seven minutes away from the popular Khodaldham temple, the caves remain secluded and unknown to many. Even seasoned drivers have reported never taking tourists there before, suggesting a lack of interest in the site. Despite its seemingly forgotten state, the caves possess historical significance as an ancient Buddhist complex worth exploring for those interested in such sites.
A cave & a history of 1800 years old culture. Truly amazing. The government has recently constructed stone support pillars & beams to make sure that the structure do not fall. If you are into history, definitely visit this archeologically rich heritage site.

Archeologically important and very ancient Buddhist caves with a small river flowing in front of the caves and lots of green trees in surroundings. Surrounding environment is calm and cool.
Enough parking space available outside.
New Buddhist temple besides these caves is also being developed.

What a wonderful place! Sadly, when we went there.. there wasn't any guard, caretaker or any management person present. The gate was closed.
We opened it ourselves. The place was secluded. No sign of any person whatsoever. I wonder why this place is so neglected especially when there's Khodaldham temple just 7 minutes away.
This place should be promoted for tourism.
The old driver that took us to this place said that in my 32 years of driving career, I have never taken any tourist to this place.. no one goes there.. no one is interested in it and no one knows about it...and even I haven't seen it ever.

10minutes from Khambhalida Temple these Buddhist caves are a hidden gem.
This is a very small part of what could have been a bigger residence or meditation cave for Buddhist Monks in the ancient era.
The cave is not open for exploration but this is a must visit if you are a history buff. Also, the natural environment makes a perfect opt for a photoshooot.
The place is secluded and in the middle of a jungle, many locals can be spotted however avoid wandering off the trek one can easily gets lost in the Jungle.

The caves are situated at the foot of small hillocks on the banks of a spring. They are carved out of limestone rocks. There are three caves, the central one contains the stupa which is known as chaitya cave. There are two sculptures of Bodhisattva on the either sides of the gate of the chaitya cave. On the left, the figure is probably Padmapani under Ashoka-like tree with a female companion and five attendants. There is a yaksha-like dwarf on the left of it holding a basket. The figure on the right is probably Vajrapani under Ashoka-like tree with similar attendants

History :-
Akshar Deri and Akshar temple located in Gondal is major pilgrimage site for Swaminarayana sampraday and specifically to BAPS organization. Gunatitanand Swami concluded his mortal existence in 1867 at Gondal. After cremation ceremony Abhaysinh Darbar, disciple of Gunatitanand Swami had built a beautiful shrine called Akshar Deri at that place.
In 1927, Narayandas Swami, Mahant of Junagahd and disciple of Balmukunddas Swami desired to build shikhar baddh mandir as he commanded by Gunatitanand Swami in dream. Then Narayanji Maharaj met Maharaja Bhagvatsinhji of Gondal and requested him for the farm in which Akshar Deri was located to build a Shikhar Baddh Mandir. The Maharaja agreed to give the land for Rs. 25,000 with conditions to kept Akshar Deri as it is and three-shikhar mandir to be built at cost of ten lakh within three years. Then Narayanji Maharaj and Haribhai Amin met Shastriji at Sarangpur. In 1932, Shastriji Maharaj put up the foundation-stone and started the excavation work for the pillars of the mandir. During the excavation one silver elephant with a chariot was found, this incident showcase that shortage of resources in Akshar Deri will not happen in future.
Even after financial hurdles, temple construction was completed in two years and Shastriji Mahara had arrange three-day yagna for the murti-pratishtha ceremony on 23-5-1934 and Yogiji Maharaj was appointed as the Mahant of Akshar Mandir. For years Yogiji Maharaj served the deities and the devotees here at Akshar Mandir in Gondal.
This is how huge and beautiful Swaminarayan temple with Akshar deri present in the basement of the temple becomes major pilgrimage site for swaminarayana. Various facilities for ritual, Maha Puja, holy bath and accommodation for devotee are managed by temple trust.

Swaminarayan Mandir in Gondal is a significant Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan, a revered spiritual leader. The temple, known for its intricate architecture, serves as a place of worship and cultural activities for followers of the Swaminarayan tradition.
Akshar Deri, on the other hand, is a sacred site within the Swaminarayan tradition, located in the premises of some Swaminarayan temples. It is a memorial shrine commemorating the cremation spot of Gunatitanand Swami, a prominent saint and a close associate of Lord Swaminarayan. Devotees visit Akshar Deri to pay their respects and seek spiritual blessings.
Both the Swaminarayan Mandir in Gondal and Akshar Deri hold cultural and religious significance, attracting devotees and visitors seeking a spiritual experience within the rich traditions of the Swaminarayan faith.

Crystal Mall is an enchanting destination with impeccable interior design and illumination. The captivating interiors are truly mesmerizing, especially the expansive and breathtaking waiting area. While the bathroom was satisfactory, it lacked partition between two toilets. The theater boasts comfortable and remarkable seats, delivering exceptional movie and video quality complemented by impressive sound systems. However, the air conditioning in the waiting area needs improvement as it pales in comparison to the cinema hall's superior cooling system.
Attractive place with best interior design and lighting. Interior was so attractive and beautiful. Waiting area was so huge and spectacular. Bathroom was also fine but there was no glass in between two toilets. Let's talk about theater, theater having comfortable seats and seats was amazing, movie quality or video quality was quite good and also sound was quite good. Air conditioner in Waiting area was poor but the air conditioning in cinema hall was better than the Waiting area, they need to improve air conditioning system. Also canteen was there with so many items. Movie time cinemas have three major screens and i like the seating arrangement and interior of the cinema. I have suspended in more time in friends and family.

Ramkrishna Ashram is the second, most important place for the followers of Swami Vivekananda after Kolkata. It is a branch of Belur Mutt, West Bengal built on the land donated by Late Shri Dharmendrasinhji, the then king of Morbi state. The Ashram has various activities and it strives to teach and spread the gospel of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahansa. Regular prayers, worships, meditation and religious discourses are held in the Universal Sri Ramakrishna Temple (Jagat Mandir) and people can take part irrespective of caste, creed and religion.
Built in the 19th century with a purpose to evoke Vedic philosophy and principles among the people of India, Ramakrishna Math (Ashrama) is an important learn centre of Rajkot. This serene campus offers Vedic education, also has a library, ayurvedic centre, bookstore, guest house and a permanent exhibition showcasing the life of Shri Ramakrishna Paramhans.

Recently I have visited ramkrishna ashram for my routine Eye checkup. They are doing at very nominal fee from past many years. The quality of service, discipline environment took my heart. The place is so spiritual , clean and peaceful. They have meditation centre also, they are providing medical care for any desease.
Physiotherapy centre for special child is also there.
The doctors are giving charity service here.
This is beneficial for those who can not afford thier clinical treatment fees. They can get the best service from same doctor here with nominal charges.

In 1st apprence it does not look like a museum this is like a doll showroom, the good part is dall collection is from all over the world, good cleanliness no rush and nice presentation of dolls.
The negative part is difficult to find the place, it is in market place, no space for parking, dolls are not exclusive, same kind of doll will be available in market. For Disneyland dolls all are soft toys looking chief, One Brazilian doll we found, the same doll my daughter playing at home.
So this may not be an exclusive place, may visit one time for free time, your child will enjoy,
Entry fees Rs 30, and mobile camera charges also Rs 30.

There is an extensive selection of dolls from various parts of the world available to explore. The museum houses an impressive collection of over 1500 dolls. The Rajkumar College, also known as RKC, is a historic K-12 institution located in Rajkot, India. Founded in 1868 by the Princes and Chiefs of Kathiawar, this school was originally intended for boys only but is now a co-educational boarding and day school affiliated with CBSE. A pleasant day spent in the Jubilee Gardens is the ideal way to enhance ones body and mind. Nestled within nature’s bounty are the Watson Museum and the Lang Library. The museum is named after a British political agent, Colonel John Watson. Numbers of sections divided into the museums are manuscripts, textile, inscription, sculptures, coins, anthropology, folk embroidery and handicraft, musical instruments, woodwork, natural history and rocks and minerals, 13th-century temple statues, carvings, memorabilia of Colonial rulers, library paintings and the paintings donated by the neighboring rulers are the highlights of the museums.

The museum has a lot of potential. It has some really nice artifacts of historical and cultural importance. The Watson Museum exhibiting collection of items from around Gujarat. The items are good quality, and arranged thematically. The items on display is a very eclectic mix of items that would not be out of place in a major museum, but arranged in a compact package. Sadly, there’s very little information except for the labels.
The religious statues, marble statue of Queen Victoria and the Durbar Hall of the princely states of Gujarat are the most interesting items in the museum. The museum is located inside Jubilee Garden and can be done in about 30 minutes. The cost of entry is trivial, but taking photos is twice the cost of entrance for a foreigner.

Fun world has been an iconic Rajkot place since decades.
In a recent visit (few month back), we witnessed how they’re trying to carry on the legacy and provide as much entertainment as possible to all age groups.
While it’s unfair to compare it to a big amusement park of this day and age, fun world lives upto its name - one can literally have fun irrespective of one’s age.
A few thrilling rides, kid’s rides, food and drinks counters, ample seating and washrooms complete the park.
Lightning can be improved in the evening and washroom can be made better.
Ticket counters are available outside and the visit is generally pocket friendly.

Nice stadium. The atmosphere was very good. Crowd was less and hence you could sit wherever you found empty seat. Seats were comfortable but very dusty. They should clean them before match. Food was ok but very expensive and rates at ground floor were cheaper than second and third level which was very surprising. They had free water fountain but that did not seem hygienic. They must setup RO water dispenser. You could purchase a glass of water for ₹10. They did not allow you to buy a full bottle so you had to walk down each time you felt thirsty! Tickets clearly mentioned outside food and water and bags not allowed but I could see so many who brought their own water and food and had bags which was again surprising.

Facilities: The stadium offers excellent facilities including comfortable seating, clean restrooms, and ample parking space. However, more shaded areas or covered stands would be appreciated, especially during hot weather or rain.
Viewing Experience: The layout of the stadium provides good sightlines from most seats, ensuring an enjoyable viewing experience for spectators. However, improvements could be made to the giant screens for better visibility of replays and match statistics.
Atmosphere: The atmosphere in the stadium during matches is electric, with passionate fans creating an exciting ambiance. More efforts could be made to enhance crowd engagement through interactive activities and fan zones.

Had a walk around the outside of the stadium yesterday lunchtime (to look for food & beverage... nothing) ... but today we weren't allowed outside, tried several exits ..... all security staff saying they were told off for letting people outside yesterday.
