The Nagurumi Castle Ruins is a well-preserved historical site with significant importance in the 1500s as a clan stronghold during a siege. It was originally built by Masayuki Sanada as Hojo's forefront base, but after the conquest of Odawara, it was abandoned. Despite this, the remains of that time have survived in relatively good condition and are considered to be more reminiscent of Sanada than Ueda Castle.

There was a good amount of people since it was the weekend. There’s a shrine at the top and if you keep going there’s an open air hot spring too. Great little adventure, with lots of things to look at. There’s vending machines and a few places to stand / sit along the way.

Ikaho doesn’t really have much to do compare to Kusatsu but everything is compactly located and easy to look around. If you have a car you have lot more to visit such as green Bokujo, Taiwanese Temple, Chinpo-Kan, Shibukawa Onsen etc…
But you can still enjoy Ikaho without it.
One thing is though if you are trying to drink in your room, get your drinks and snacks as early as possible as the convenience store close to the stone steps run out of booze real quick.
After all, I prefer Kusatsu more but I recommend to visit this place once.

This has to be one of the best walks I have done in Japan. It is quite the arduous journey up the roughly 250 steps. However the fall foliage views mixed with the nighttime lights of a shopping district are simply spectacular. And best of all you can enjoy it and even an outdoor footbath along the way all for free, discounting transportation costs of roughly ¥1000 round trip from Shibukawa JR station.

One of Ikaho Onsen’s most well-known spots, is the 265-step stone staircase. These stairs which will be your walking trail as you stroll through Ikaho Onsen's hot spring town or going to Kajika Bridge.
They said that the staircase was originally only 315 steps, but was expanded to 365 steps in 2010. There is a variety of restaurants and stores surrounding the staircase. These stops will make a perfect rest stops. There are some games that you can play with a minimal fee. There are some day onsens along the way. There is a free foot bath as well and you can buy a towel from souvenir shops nearby.
There is a nearby municipal parking with a fee of 300yen but we opted to park near Kajika bridge.

Ikaho Shrine is a serene place of worship that dates back to the 9th century. To reach the main temple, visitors must climb 365 steps, which is believed to bring good fortune. Along the way, there are various shops and buildings that add character and charm to the surrounding village. Some of these structures are remnants from a prosperous era in history and evoke feelings of nostalgia. The shrine itself offers stunning views and an opportunity for peaceful contemplation.
An interesting temple! You need to climb 365 stairs to reach the main temple. In the meantime, you can enjoy many shops along the way. Food, amusement, drink, onsen. The oden here is also really delicious. But the best food is definitely the soft cream!!!

Small local shrine at the top of the famous ‘365’ steps. Worth the visit if you’re in the area.
There are many wonderful smaller details to look out for around the shrine and it has a good view of the town. It is also the start of a walk up the mountain.

The temple was rather OK, but what steal the show is the surrounding shops and village that has a lot of character and vibe. Ikaho's vermillion Kajika Bridge is a must-visit place in Autumn season in Gunma. This picturesque and stunning view is a perfect background for family portraits during autumn foliage.
We went up here by car and there is a free parking space near the bridge.
You need to be there before 10am because many cars lined up for this parking space.
Some people chose to park on the municipal parking near Idaho stone steps starting point. But we’ve decided to go here first so it is not too crowded.
Surprisingly, there’s a lot of people before 10am but we managed to take beautiful pictures.
There is a restroom and a small coffee stall near the bridge.
You can enjoy the colorful leaves up here. We went down taking the local road for cars and went directly to the starting point of Idaho stone steps. After reaching 365 steps, we walked back to Kajika bridge and went back to our car.

Having said to be one of the areas of inspiration for Hayao Miyazaki's "Spirited Away" with Kajika Bridge being a reference point for the main red bridge depicted in the movie, you can clearly see why when visiting.
Although not quite as picturesque as visiting in mid-Autumn, December/Jan is still an excellent time to visit Ikaho Onsen and Kajika Bridge.
Well worth the trip up and also combining a visit to the local Onsen.

Not too touristy, 1,300 year old campus of shrines curved out on the side of mountains in Gunma Prefecture. Very somber, impressive buildings - not because they are foiled in gold or they have the record ranking size, but because they have quietly endured the time, and still existing. When I went there, it was the 2nd day of the New Year, and yet still, not too many people were there, daring the bitter cold air of the cedar woods and frozen water falls. I live in western NY, so I know cold - this place carried it's own winter bitter! True to the essence of Shintoism, even the smallest and the most eroded structures are still kept, tendered and their dieties are well respected. A little Cha-Ya (tea house) half way up the lane that's leading up to the main shrine, reminded me of how things were perhaps 1,000 years ago, treating those who have traveled days or weeks, or even month to get there, on foot. ( I'm pretty fit BUT their official "15 minutes to the top shrine" was a bit of a stretch - a handful of really old ladies in their 80- 90 something were walking with a cane, taking rest every few steps up a very steep stone starts) This place is famous for the plums. Their Plum Cake (Ume Manju) was very tasty, with a whole cooked plum inside, wrapped inside of not too sweet red bean paste.
Mohri Hime — Google review
A very good place to visit for those who are looking for a solemn place to pray. It's my second time to visit this Shrine and it seems the construction is not yet finished so I can't rate it 5 stars. From Takasaki Station, we ride a bus and stop on the foot of the Shrine. When we arrived, there are remains of snow from the last day. It took us 15minutes to reach the Shrine since we enjoyed the scenery Haruna Shrine offers. The road is cemented, there are few sloppy stairs but it's not that hard to ascend. I've seen a shop where you can buy foods in case you've got a hungry stomach. For those who have cars, there is parking near the entrance of of the Shrine.

Gunma prefecture has significant place in the history of japan and Mt. Haruna can be described as the one integrating the harmony and cultural depth of the japanese ethical principles. The shrine itself is complementary to the ethical practice.
Very calm, excellent atmosphere and elegant. If you get a chance to visit I recommend to hold some extra time and walk along side ways towards lake haruna. It's simply breathtaking..

A tranquil place with solemnity where you'll find a nice trail leading to a Japanese shrine of hundreds years old inside the mountain. Everything is so original without much artificial decoration. Lucky that not many foreign tourists (particularly.those from.mainland Chinese) know this place, the site remains quiet and one can really enjoy an escape of busy life here walking leisurely deep in mountain. Definitely a five star tourist site as of today.

Takasaki City Hall, completed in 1998, stands as a grand structure that may seem oversized for the city of Takasaki. With a restaurant and an observatory on its 21st floor, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views of Gunma Prefectural Office, Mt. Haruna, and Mt. Myogi from a height of 90 meters. The observation lobby is open to the public without any reservation or fee required.

At noon, I ate a noodle set at the employee cafeteria of the city hall.
The ramen was light and delicious.
Even though it is a mini beef bowl, the amount is about normal and I am very satisfied ❤️
Moreover, the noodle set is 570 yen
The charm of the employee cafeteria is cheap and delicious, so I would like to try again. I went to the city hall for business again ... I ate cutlet curry at the employee cafeteria
The cutlet was soft and the curry was not spicy and it was delicious.

Everyone was very happy with the tweezers.
But when you park in the parking lot, are you a security guard? Was scolded by the person who said, "It's a reverse run!"
Because I parked in an empty space, it just happened ...
I would like the city hall to take measures for how the guards respond. If you just shake the red stick instead of inducing it, why not need it to reduce labor costs?
I think there is common sense in how to be careful.

The place to go for absolutely astounding views, totally free of charge. Compared to Maebashi's more famous observation deck, this one is certainly less smart, but I think the views are superior. I can only complain that part of the building's perimeter, and its windows, are off-limits for some reason when the restaurant is closed, so it makes sense to visit during the restaurant's opening times, which appears to be only from 18:00 onwards.

Jigen-in Temple (Byakue Dai-Kannon) is the oldest temple in Osaka, featuring a beautiful garden and tea ceremony house. Although it appears attractive from a distance, visitors may find it underwhelming compared to their expectations. However, smokers can use the ashtray at the base of the statue Infront – an uncommon sight in such places. It's advisable to plan additional activities nearby if one intends to visit this Buddhist temple.
A fun visit to a local monument towering over the city. An easy 30 minute diversion worth the experience and the views. Don't miss some wonderful hikes in the area as well accessible from the parking lot.

Nice to see it from afar, looks nice, but I would put something else on the list if you want to visit just here.
As in, if you plan to come here to see this, add something else in the area as this was a bit more underwhelming than I had originally anticipated.
If you smoke, there is an ashtray at the base of the statue Infront, something you won't really see at places like this.

Great location to start your walk about- view the giant Goddess of Mercy Statue then on to the shrine. Walking further past the souvenir shops would bring u to a route through the park/forestry reserve area with some stunning views of a suspension bridge. Quite a walk so do go prepped with walking shoes n light gear with a light jacket just in case the wind acts up. After approximately 45-60 mins into the walk there is a turn off on the left which is signed (unfortunately only in Kanji) which denotes the route down a series of broad steps to the caves. There’s refreshments n a short tour at the caves if one is interested. In front of the caves is a bus stop which one can catch the direct bus back to Takasaki Station, near to the stop is a nice Cafe situated opposite across the road from the bus stop. It serves excellent tea/coffee n cakes- a nice finishing touch to a great walk about. The owner is very friendly, welcoming and very helpful. They also do great dinners but we did not have the benefit of time to experience it. It was a wonderful day trip to experience Takasaki, Gunma.

The Gunma area is where they grow the most of the roots in Japan that are turned into konyakku, a slightly tasteless paste which can be shaped into a lot of forms. It is very popular because it essentially has zero calories.
But it is extremely popular and the lines can be murder on public holidays. We got there at 9 which is opening time, and had to stand in line 2.5 hours for the buffet.

My friend and I visited on a Saturday so the factory was out of action, but you could still walk around the tour area and see the machinery and read the information.
The buffet was interesting if not entirely to my tastes. Suffice it to say that the desserts selection was better than the savoury.

Fees: We paid $1,000 yen per person, but there are discounted rates for children.
Food: There are several places for small snacks and light meals outside of the museum. We didn't try any of them and so can't recommend.

The moment I visited it was under refurbishing and main interior aspects were hidden somewhere instead photos and panels were exhibited.
Despite under construction they charge visitors NORMAL admission fee JYen 1,000 plus extra charge of JYen 200 for you to see actual construction. NO way. It should be opposite as the appearance value of the venue is less than so expected as World Cultural Heritage(WCH).

Stunning views from this skybridge 2700 feet above sea level. The valley below is about 2000~2100 feet above sea level. If you are afraid of heights its best to walk across when there is no-one else on it as it does shake when there is a group on it or if kids are running across it.
There is a coin box at the entrance and they request 100 yen per person over 6 years old for passage.

This is a bit of a slog but a very beautiful shrine, with great hiking nearby. There is water and snacks for sale at the shrine, but very little on the trails. It's best to go early, as the bus from Mitsumineguchi to the shrine takes almost an hour, and we were packed in like cattle. In the winter! Lots of wolf statues and torii gates. The shrine itself has services, and is flanked by two sacred trees that you walk out on a walkway to worship/appreciate. Worth the trip, but be prepared to stand up for a while to get there.

For me, shrines in Japan have always been something I tried to avoid due to them being so similar and not really offering anything unique. And this still stands for shrines in Tokyo. Outside of Tokyo though, the shrines are beautifully surrounded by nature.
Mitsumine shrine in Chichibu, Saitama is up ontop of a mountain with a superb view (if the weather is nice). Its not too crowded and if you're brave enough you can even hike up. It must be really worth it.

It is located in the Okuchichibu Mountains in Saitama Prefecture. It is said to be the strongest power spot in the Kanto area, overflowing with the power of nature. The "enmusubi tree" is said to be 800 years old, and the "chi" from the sacred tree is said to be 800 years old. The "Haruhai-den" (far hall of worship) is also popular for its spectacular view of the sea of clouds, if you are lucky.

If you decide to drive, be sure to pack some snacks and to be careful on the road. The hour drive from chichibu is completely uphill on a very narrow road. There's two rest stops along the way, but there's no way to stop once you're at the base of the road leading to the shrine.

Beautiful shrine in the mountains. Options to include a mountain hike.
Mitsumine is a beautiful shrine high on the mountains outside of Chichibu (a little under an hour's drive). It is a great experience that is highly recommended. If you are feeling particularly energetic, you can hike from the temple (there's a good parking lot where you can leave your car) to several nearby mountain tops (between three and ten kilometres hiking away).
Even if you're feeling less energetic, the temple offers great views of the area around. One tip would be to explore the temple before lunch and eat at the little restaurant on the temple grounds which has a balcony overlooking the mountains.

A wonderful temple to visit in Chichibu region. I took the bus from Seibu Chichibu Station and it took about 80min to come to this stop. The shrine is large and magnificent, with lots of areas and shops to explore. This area is also a hub for the hiking trail to Kumotori Mountain. I felt refreshed spiritually after visiting this temple.

One of the most amazing hikes in Japan! 10 kilometers surrounding a gorge with countless beautiful waterfalls. It's free and one of a kind. The water is a beautiful teal color and the trail, while dangerous at times, is well kept and marked.

Beautiful and relaxing hike! There are some parts that can be kind of wet and rocky along the waters. So wear shoes with better friction.

The best hiking course with amazing waterfalls that you've never heard of. Turquoise water, wild scenery and very few people. Wear good hiking boots and be prepared for some scrambling up a rough path on places. The first 5 km of the 10 km loop is tough but scenic, the return trip is easy. Must bring a camera!

Great place, never TOO crowded, even on a holiday, but still plenty of cars in the lot.
Beautiful place, and the trails are spectacular, though they must be tough to maintain, as half of them have been closed all of the three times I've been.

Gotemba Premium Outlets is a massive shopping center in Japan, offering around 290 luxury stores with international and Japanese brands. Visitors can indulge in a shopping spree at renowned outlets like Gucci, Burberry, Celine, and Alexander Wang. Afterward, they can enjoy a delectable sushi and tempura lunch at Numazu Uogashizushi or savor coffee and pastries at Fauchon Paris.
Gotemba Premium Outlet it took me 9hrs to stroll around the area. A must visit place especially during occasions and the Mt. Fuji view while window shopping was 🥰..

The place was huge and spacious. At first, the map looks difficult to figure out, but you'll be able to get through it. It doesn't have huge discounts (if you're looking for one) like I experienced from other outlets but the variety of products are endless. Salute to the guy (Ono) at Nike shop. He's so kind to help me find my size and shoes that fit me. His English is excellent. Thank you, sir. 😊

A huge premium outlet where you can find really good prices on new items from whatever brand you name. The view is also amazing, facing the mountains including Mount Fuji. This outlet is also equipped with many food stalls, playgrounds for children, toilets, and lots of benches to rest. Don't forget to bring your passport to get more discount.

Its easy to navigate and plenty of shops selections. Though not enough covered area for snacks during winter so its a bit cold. Parking is convenient and plentiful. Definitely need around 4 to 5 hours to shop around. Its good to love around the area for onsens as well

More than 300 shops, most popular brands are here. Prices are good and tempting.
My daughter spent 3 hrs shopping till (my hand) tired (signing cards).
Since it’s not peak holiday season and not Jan & July Sales, not very crowded. Therefore, it’s a more enjoyable shopping experience.
For those who did not bring large enough luggage, can buy 1 from Ace Hokkaido suitcase store.
Worth coming back to do more shopping.
The bonus: you can get a good view of Mt Fuji.

Big outlet where one can easily spend hours shopping ! Some offers are worth buying. The Hill Side food outlets have good selection and with a very nice view of Mt Fuji. The food court at the east end is older and offer not so good environment. The Japanese udon is good though. However, the Singapore chicken rice is the worst I have ever tasted. The rice is white rice, comes with coleslaw and the chicken is sliced into fillet size.

This place is impressively huge and one of the best tax free shopping experiences I've had.
There are several zones and plenty of food options available, so you can choose to spend an entire day here. I spent about 1.5 hours and it's seriously too short. I would recommend 3-4 hours for shopping alone, and perhaps 5-6 if wish to factor in meal time and perhaps factor in entertainment for the kids.
I was pleasantly surprised to see how well thought the outdoor mall is, with impressive playground and a mini theme park to keep younger children engaged.
This is my first trip, but I'll definitely return again for at least 4-6 hours in the near future.

The area so big and many branded shop are available based on your needs.
There are also good scenes. But unfortunately raining day, too many cloud unable to see the Fuji mountain… anyway, is a good place for shopping.
Also offer food court and also convenient store.

Came to this premium outlet in hopes of catching a stunning view of Mount Fuji, following our drive to Lake Kawaguchiko. However, luck wasn't in our favor as thick clouds veiled the majestic peak, leaving us unable to behold its beauty. So if you come here for the Mt Fuji, you may consider check the weather first.
Additionally, during our visit in mid-February, we observed that many shops in the outlet appeared to be experiencing slow sales.

Nestled in a picturesque setting, the Hakone Venetian Glass Museum, also known as Hakone Garasu no Mori or Hakone Glass Forest, is a delightful museum that focuses on Venetian glassware. It boasts an impressive collection of exquisite glass pieces from various periods, with a special emphasis on those from the Venetian Renaissance.
Absolutely gorgeous! I went with a small group of people and we took some great photos and had a good time walking around the museum. The sights are beautiful, and the entry fee is extremely affordable. There's places to eat, relax, and simply enjoy the views as well. Loved every second of this place, bring your cameras!

A nice, elegant, beautiful museum. If you like shiny objects and glitters, you will love this place in Hakone. There is also a restaurant inside, but it was very crowded. I enjoyed window shopping the great variety of objects on display. There was also a bell for lovers so I think this is a nice place to bring a date, specially if you are both young.

It is hard to capture the shunning lights by a camera but it is really amazing while you see the scene by your own eyes. A place for lunch or some food while visiting the area. Bus access is very convenient. You can also spend times seeing the exhibits indoors.

Such a nice museum. We went there when it was raining, and it made the museum more mystical. You can see so many glass collections and art, and of course you can also buy it on souvenir shop. They also have classes to make your own glass art. One unique thing, they have a store selling jams! But one thing to be prepared, there is no train heading to this museum, either you take your own vehicle or you take the bus. Which can be nauseating since it has so many winding roads. For people who easily get carsick, be mentally prepared.
Also, if you're a student, you will get student price to enter this museum. I say that's really great deal. Just tell them you're a student and show your student ID.

Tourist trap. Better described as the Impractical Drinking Vessel Museum. You pay 1800¥ to enter what felt like a shop. So, I'd say it's not worth going unless you have a real love for all things venetian glass or have nothing else to do and a pass that lets you get in for free.
A point of redemption was that the grounds were pretty nice and well kept, and there was a lovely place to sit and watch the creek and trees.

This is Japan’s first art museum specializing in Venetian glass, and exhibits works from the fifteenth to nineteenth centuries and also modern pieces. The pond on the grounds is in between the Venetian Glass Museum and the Modern Glass Museum where you can appreciate delicate glass crafts at each respective museum. Its medieval Venice-inspired garden also has spots where you can take photos. Listen carefully to the live canzone (Italian song) performances held every day while gazing at the scenery from the café restaurant on the grounds and you’re sure to find yourself feeling elegant. They also hold glasswork workshops, making this a spot you can enjoy all day long.

Established in 2002 by the Pola Art Foundation, this museum showcases an impressive private art collection amassed over 40 years by Tsuneshi Suzuki.

Amazing place. The POLA Museum of Art is a little out of the way, but can be reached easily enough by public bus from Gora station. There is a bus you can catch down the road from the Hakone Open Air Sculpture Museum. It's a good combination of doing these two things together in one day. The POLA Museum has artworks from Monet, Gaughan, Van Gogh, Matisse, Cezanne and plenty of other masters. There is a lovely cafe that makes good strong coffee. You can also get tea and cake. The cafe looks out over some lovely forested areas. It may not be known or be as famous as the large art museums, but it is a treasure. Invest some time and go see this calming but also inspiring place.

Owakudani, also known as Hell Valley, is a geothermic site in Hakone that offers stunning views of Mt. Fuji and the surrounding area. Visitors can take the Hakone Tozan Railway or local buses from Hakone-Yumoto Station to reach this forested and mountainous area. One of the main attractions here is the opportunity to eat black eggs boiled in hot springs, which are said to add seven years to your life for each egg consumed.
Beautiful area with many touristy shops and a museum detailing the local geology which is very fascinating (tix: 100 yen)! There is a nature trail connected to the main complex that requires reservations that provides a look at the local wildlife. Make sure to try the black eggs while you are here as they are delicious!

Black eggs! This oozing, green scar was caused by an eruption thousands of years ago and then there was a horrible mud slide that killed many people 100 years ago. Now they are working really hard to terrace the place. It truly feels like another planet and it smells like hell. I recall a time when you could walk out further to see where they cook the eggs but it’s all blocked off now. I suppose there may have been people who got sick from the noxious gas. I wish more areas were accessible for exploration. Still, I understand that is probably not safe. The ropeway is a great experience especially on a sunny day. We were lucky to catch it at a nice time in February. Looking forward to visiting again whenever we have a chance. Thanks for all the delicious hard boiled eggs over the years 🙏🎉😄

In the Owakudani area near the Hakone volcano there are places where hot smoke comes out of the ground (it's not a geyser) the smell of sulfur which scorches the ground in a yellow color. View of Lake Ashinoko and Mount Fujiyama in Japan. It is amazing, don't miss the cable car ride, boating on the lake and visiting the open museum. It is said that the Japanese cook eggs in the hot springs which gives them a black color. A belief holds that eating one egg adds 7 years to life. The place also has a restaurant and sells ice cream, which is also black in color.
YAKI YAK — Google review
Visited Owakudani as part of an all inclusive package tour. Took the ropeway to reach the spot. The view from the top was very nice, with sulphur vents all over. There are a lot of souvenir stores do do shopping and the black egg and black ice cream to try out. It's definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful place to visit.
The peak is about 1044 meter high and you can see the inactive volcanoes and smokes coming out from the volcano.
However the smoke is very stingy because of its sulphuric property.
You have to take a Cable car in order to get to the top.
One of the most famous food is Black Egg or 黒卵.
The rumor about the black egg is that if you have one black egg then your life expectancy will increase to extra 7 years.
Its really very interesting rumor that almost 95% tourists buy Black eggs.
Really must visit once.

Easy to find, lovely atmosphere (not counting the dreadful smell of sulphur of course😆) . The ride on the gondola was nice and provided a lovely view on approaching the lake. The weather tho obscured Mt. Fuji ☹️
I liked that I could buy a one way or return ticket and use it anytime throughout the day. I do think that ¥2250 (return) is a rather pricey ride tho but I guess it's a tourist attraction.
I didn't like that the minimum number of eggs I could purchase was 5 - felt like a waste of resources since I couldn't eat that many and 3 ended up in the trash.
All round nice experience - I recommend it.

This place looks so great especially while you're inside the ropeway where you can actually see the smokes coming from the mountains on a great angle.
Once you go down, you'll see shops selling souvenirs and some black egg that they believe will add more years to your life if you eat it.
We decided not to stay too long due to the sulfur smell coming from the smokes.

This place is so beautiful, really wish we would have done a little bit more research on things to do especially that you can walk to the area where the eggs are boiled. However, even without doing all this we still wouldn’t have had time to do anything else given that the ropeway closes relatively early. Definitely worth checking out though.

Fantastic experience! You can see the sulfur escaping the ground from the last eruption in 2015. The black eggs are supposed to extend your life by 7 years. And they have all kinds of food to try!

Very beautiful place, accompanied with its common theme of "Black things" 😂. The black eggs were definitely interesting to say the least, somehow they tasted slightly different though i couldng describe it in words. The black ice cream was incredibly delicious. The sights of the mountains and volcanic vents were oddly comforting, showcasing the beauty of nature. It is also incredibly windy and considerably more cooler if you come here during the late autumn/winter season, than places with lower altitude.

Originally established in the year 757, the Nine-Headed-Dragon Shrine [Kuzuryu-jinja] reveres a nine-headed dragon. According to ancient legend, the dragon who lived at the bottom of Lake Ashi demanded a human sacrifice from the local villagers. A monk named Mangan Jyonin saved the villagers by subduing the dragon causing it to renounce its evil ways. The dragon became revered as a dragon king, and these days, a festival is held every year on July 31st to celebrate the nine-headed dragon king.

Lake ashi is absolutely beautiful! We arrived to togendai after a short bus ride from our hotel. There at the base, lake ashi had the lovely pirate ships coming back into port. Shout out to the Evangelion characters everywhere & the cool human sized figure in the station! Definitely a fan favorite, fun fact the anime is set in Hakone and lake ashi & Owakudani appear in the series 👏🏼
After a short walk enjoying the water front we caught the Hakone Ropeway for a scenic ride up the mountain side, it was Picturesque to say the least. As we got higher in elevation we could see Mt. Fuji with it's donut cloud hats lol As well as plumes of white smoke emerging and bursting out from the area up ahead. When you arrive at the top of Owakudani if your an egg fan you must try the "Kuro-Tamago" as called by locals, aka black eggs or sulfur eggs. There's a legend about life expectancy around them. Check out my review of Owakudani for more! Of follow me on IG @ loverboy_lb420 ty!

Lake Ashi in Japan is a tranquil and picturesque destination. The serene waters, surrounded by lush greenery and with a backdrop of Mount Fuji, create a stunning natural setting. Whether you're taking a boat cruise or enjoying a lakeside walk, it offers a peaceful escape.

The Numazu Deep Sea Aquarium is a worthwhile destination for admirers of deep sea creatures. It features tanks containing a variety of well-maintained deep and shallow sea fishes, as well as invertebrates. The most notable exhibits include the dark room viewing of luminescent fishes from the deep sea and preserved specimens that come in blue and red colors, with hard bones stained red while soft ones are stained blue.
A must-visit in Numazu, likely one of the surprisingly best aquariums I’ve visited ever. We visited two hours before close on a weekday and there was a steady flow of visitors but it wasn’t too crowded at all. Compared to the chaos of the Osaka Aquarium that I visited last month, this was a much nicer experience.
Every tank is set up with so much care, and there is lots of information about the fishes. If you don’t know Japanese you’ll have to translate but it was no problem! My favorite exhibit was the isopod and ancient fish.

Near to the bus stop after alighting. About 5min walk. Inside have examples of deep sea life in nearby Japanese waters. Small but informative.

A rare species that you only can see at the deep sea. There's a lot of species we are not familiar, a new in our eyes. It's a quite expensive but you will be amazed when you saw them in actual.

The exhibition at this aquarium was very nice. However, there are two problems. One is that the only payment method is cash. The second is that the staff's response is not good. The staff at the admission ticket office responded according to the manual, and the five-member family customer in front of me pitifully stopped admission and went home. The staff who guides you at the entrance cannot guide you smoothly. As a result, the passage before going to the back of the building became a large line, and many people complained. The end of the large line was very empty. I was disappointed. The inside of the aquarium was vacant and comfortable, unlike the area near the entrance. The exhibition of deep-sea fish was also devised. It was fun to watch.

THE COOLEST AQUARIUM I HAVE EVER VISITED! I like aquariums and museums. And this place has got great mix of both. They have very interesting deep sea creatures that you don’t find in regular aquariums and great ways of showing them. And the highlight of this place is their coelacanth museum! I don’t know anywhere else that you can see frozen coelacanths or a fish print of it. It was so cool. If you like aquariums or deep sea, this is a must visit place.

A great petit deep sea aquarium worth to visit. Tanks containing deep and shallow sea fishes as well as invertebrates are maintained very well. My highlights are dark room viewing of deep sea luminescent fishes and beautifully preserved fishes that come in blue and red. It says hard bones are stained red and soft ones by blue. They not just attached scientific interest but are really piece of art!
I would say relatively high admission of 1,600 pays considering its quality. Enjoy!

Fantastic little aquarium. Lots of Japanese tourists but almost no foreign tourists at all. It has the most extensive coelacanth exhibit and a wide variety of deep sea animals. Entrance fee is 1600 yen per adult. Queue can be a little long because the start of the exhibit requires you to queue up but the line moves quickly as people are very polite. A must go if you are in Suruga bay. Lots of restaurants around after you are done. Keep your ticket as sometimes the restaurants offer discounts when you show the ticket.
Arnold Arkar Moore — Google review
Very wonderful place to visit! You may spend 60-90 mins or more if you like. Opened in 2012 and getting popular once NHK, national broadcasting, released the video that captured gigantic squid alive in the deep sea.
Top features: 1) Coelacanths (both frozen and stuffing): Very rare in Japan due to strict trading rules these days. Those are imported before the regulations were effective.
2) Bathynomus giganteus
3) Fresh local deep sea creatures (Suruga bay is the deepest bay in Japan.)
One staff answered my questions so sincerely and in details. So nice! It seemed staffs are proud of and enjoy working there. They are effectively displaying all creatures, and hold some presentations (Japanese only by staffs).
Overall, kids must love this place and even some adults can enjoy a lot surely. Highly recommended place to visit! Note that weekends are so crowded. Go in the morning or weekdays. ;) Enjoy!
Kishikawa Tarz — Google review
It is a cute small aquarium, roughly would take 1.5 hours and 2 hours if you are really into learning deep sea. Beside the deep sea, they also some shallow reef organisms. The route is clear, tanks are diverse with clear Japanese and English explanation. They are keeping flapjack octopus and seems doing a good job on extending the cultivate period. The best part will be the collection of Coelacanth specimen, they are exhibit a dry one and two frozen.

Is not it. I'm sure he'll be a great resource. I'm also thinking of adjusting my schedule and going somehow. Are you all going out? I’m looking forward to it~(^^)
At Minato Shinsenkokan, you can find tuna sashimi, etc. Dried fish are often bought outside at stores in shopping streets. I always buy horse mackerel, mackerel, and dried soy sauce mirin from Yondaime Yahei, which I will introduce in a separate article next time. Also, the souvenir that I always buy at Minato Shinsenkokan is ``Mekabut Tororo'', which I have also uploaded in the photo👍In the Showa era, it was sold at stores, but recently it has become more difficult to buy it. . “Ajiya” is the only one that sells it at Numazu Port. It's great for everyday cooking and miso soup (^^) Everyone, please try it once.

Happy Traveller (*.*) — Google review
Numazu Port's View-O Flood Gate provides spectacular day and night views of Numazu City, Shizuoka, Mount Fuji and bodies of water that surround three of four directions. In the day, it is said that you can see Mount Fuji on a clear day. In the night, you are greeted by its luminous colours that light the observation deck and towers that support/move the flood gate, making it a sight in itself of the night.
Unfortunately, I was only able to visit during the night and catch the views during that time. However, with the December night that it was, not being cold on the outside and being warm inside the observation deck, it made for a nice, quiet overlook of the city interior and a hint of Mount Fuji resting behind a partly-cloudy night.
For 100円, you can get many nice photo opportunities up on the observation deck. Even at night, the lights-off interior and mainly-exterior lighting creates a relaxing... and, to some, romantic... ambience/aesthetic.
It's a must-visit during all seasons. Visitors to Numazu should make it a point to stop here and go through both sides of the port's inlet to discover what each side has to offer.

Splendid view of the sea and the town. Although on the day I went there, we couldn't see Mountain Fuji, the place was overall relaxing and there weren't that many people there. The price to get up to the observatory wasn't expensive. The wind was super strong, so if you go there on a specially windy day, be careful not to get anything blown away. The view of the view-o was beautiful looking from outside as well, since the sun was at just the right position, haha. If you're going on a hunt for a Love Live stamp, they have one here!

Jōren Falls, a picturesque location along the Kano River, features an enchanting 25-meter waterfall that cascades into a pool. This natural wonder is steeped in folklore and boasts stunning views of the surrounding landscape. Visitors can park their cars in the lot and take a lengthy staircase to reach the base of the falls, where they can witness wasabi cultivation that takes advantage of the area's pristine water sources. Fishing enthusiasts will appreciate access to a nearby pond service on the river.
It was a very beautiful waterfall. I parked my car in the parking lot. A waterfall can be seen far below the parking lot. Take a long, long staircase to the waterfall. When I got down to the bottom, wasabi, a special product of Izu, was cultivated. It is agriculture that makes use of clean water. There was a fishing pond service on the river, and many people enjoyed fishing. There is a beautiful waterfall in front of you, and you can feel the negative ions throughout your body. On the way back, you have to go up the long long stairs. I am very tired. However, it is worth going to the bottom to see the waterfall.

The photos don't do it justice, it was more spectacular than I thought, especially in the rain. The surprising bonus was the small wasabi farm also in the gorge, so you can see the waterfall and get your wasabi hit (including buying fresh wasabi) in the same place.
There are about 200 steps and no wheelchair accessibility. No toilets in the gorge either.

This was a really beautiful spot to come and relax and take a short break away from Tokyo. It seems they created an irrigation system using the waterfall to continuously water all the wasabi plants, so the sound of all the water rushing through us really relaxing. They offer fishing and even sell some wasabi ice cream (it’s just vanilla ice cream with some wasabi on top. Be careful it’s super spicy haha we got heartburn after eating it and walking up all the steps). Definitely recommend it as a quick stop to anyone passing through Shizuoka, especially for the first time.

Japan is well known for its beautiful waterfalls, and Joren Falls is exceptional. What makes it interesting is there is a wasabi farm next to the falls.. The Toi Gold Mine, a centuries-old historic site, offers an exciting adventure for families with children. Although the journey to reach this landmark may be long, it is worth visiting. Visitors can explore tunnels and participate in panning experiences while admiring a vast gold nugget. Additionally, the well-maintained garden and museum within the mine provide interesting English explanations about its history. Most thrillingly, visitors can also pan for their own gold during their visit!
Very interesting, historical and relaxing walk through an old mine. English language on most info signs. Takes about 45 minutes to walk through the mine, and about 45 minutes for the "panning for gold" activity. Tiny gold pieces can be found fairly easily. The park is fun for kids and adults. If you're already in the area, then it's worth the visit.

It was interesting, but the visit was quite short. I wouldn't recommend going unless you are in the vicinity.

The tunnels created for gold mining is kept and maintained for the visitors to walk around and see.
Through out the tunnel models are displayed explaining the life of miners.
There is a nice museum near, highlights are 12kg and 250kg gold. Visitors can touch and lift it(if you are strong enough).
Another attraction is the gold panning, at an extra cost we can try out luck in gold panning at the area provided near the gift shop.
One can get some interesting Omiyage from the gift shop here.
Overall a good experience worth the time for kids and adults.

It is located in a rural area called Toi in the west Izu area. This place has historic importance of once being the second most productive gold mine in Japan. The tour preserves the history of mining and difficulties involved for the labourer working under the ground which had been subjected to extreme conditions of seepage of hot springs and hot lack of oxygen. The story is told with the help of mechanically animated models. They also have a gold panning experience which allows you to pan as much of gold as you want in 30 mins.

"mining" gold is kind of a bit too short. They also use fake flowers for their "gods". It's very interesting to hold the world's biggest gold bar. 1000yen for the golden ice cream. Please buy from the grandma who is selling her handmade crafts within the Toi Gold Mine.

It’s quite a journey to get there, but good fun for kids. There’s a large, well-maintained garden, interesting museum in the original mine (with English explanations) and a chance to pan for your own gold.
Lover's Cape is a popular tourist spot that features a wooden pathway leading to an observation deck on the clifftop. The deck boasts sculptures and offers breathtaking views of the bay and Mount Fuji. Visitors are advised to plan their trip on a clear day, as cloudy weather may not provide optimal viewing conditions. The pathway is situated atop a steep hill, which requires some walking up and down from the free parking lot.
you could see Mt Fuji if weather is fine.
It was a nice view. Even though that wasn't showed us 😆
About 10-15mins to the edge.
Any couple would be happy 👍

Nice little walk with spectacular views!
You should be able to climb stairs, as there are really plenty of them 😀. Most of the time, you can walk in the forest which was really nice, as the sun was really hot when we came here.

Drive about two hours from Hakone. Just a view from the seaside with some
artificial structure. Average scenic place, not worth unless you live or travel nearby. Not recommend for a single spot of touring around that area.

There are two view points separated 200mts. Both with stunning views of Suruga bay. The path to the second one is a bit steep, and with many stairs.
The path from the parking lot is about 500mt. It’s well paved and goes along a beautiful forest.

Very nice scenic views of the ocean and Mount Fuji. Well worth the trip on a clear day, but may not be worth it on a cloudy day. Steep hill to walk up and down from the free parking lot. Don’t forget to ring the bells with your lover!!

Really nice spot. We were there on a warm November day with a nice breeze blowing, and no snow on Mt. Fuji yet. Steep paved hike down and back to a large platform. 10-15 minute walk each way. Gift shop at the top had a few snacks and lots of souvenirs.

Experience an exciting and delightful boat ride with the Yakatabune Dogashima Cave Tour. The journey, which costs a little amount of money, takes you through choppy waters that give you an exhilarating experience. Ensure to sit in the front or back of the boat without any covering to enjoy the full oceanic feel. The tour will take you into a cave where your experienced driver will make a u-turn skillfully showcasing their expertise on this 15-minute cruise.
The clear blue water made my heart so refreshed! The tour guiding is quite historical enough to made those rocks into something bigger and interesting. This is not just for kids but also adults can love it! We actually went so much close to the cave wall skin so the reality was well enough and amazing !

Dogashimais located at the coast of west Izu. From the port of Dogashima, you can travel to the Tensodo island's sea cave by "Dogashima marine" boat and see the breath-taking beauty of the magical blue cave when the ray of light penetrates through a big round hole in its ceiling.

It was a hot day, but the breeze from the boat running on the sea felt great. The inside of the cave was like a blue cave and it was sunny, so the sun was shining and it was beautiful. If you go up the stairs from the dock, you can look into the observatory and the Tensodo (a cave you entered by boat) from above. The surrounding terrain is interesting. We couldn't see Mt.Fuji on the day due to the weather, but when we got off the boat, we were given two postcards saying, "I couldn't see Mt.Fuji today, so please use it instead."

Awesome quick tour.. All you need for the reasonable ¥1500. Going in to the cave wasn't expected.. Captain's skills were impressive.. Make shure of calm weather before you visit.. Cave's sealing is pretty low and waves won't permit boat's entry... It's totally worth doing it.. Strongly recommended!

Really fun boat ride especially if the water is a bit choppy for more excitement. Be sure to ride in the back or front of the boat with no covering so you get the full feel of the ocean. The boat will go into a cave and proceed to do a u-turn which highlights the scale of the driver. While it's a short trip I think it was totally worth the little money it cost

Since it was a weekday, I took part in the cave tour cruise for 1,500 yen. It seems that there are two types of cruise courses besides this on weekends and holidays. Was it a premium cruise and a geographic course? It seems that the price will be a little higher, but if the cruise time is longer for a few hundred yen and you can go to other places, the geographic course would have been better, but unfortunately it was a weekday, so I gave up. This boat will take you to the cave, which is called Tensodo, also known as the Blue Cave. There were 10 people in line ahead of me. So, the important thing here is the seat on the boat. I remembered when I went to Gunkanjima the other day, and was planning to head to the back of the boat without a roof, but there was an unexpected announcement... I recommend going to the back of the boat, although it can get a little wet. Don't you say something like that! It's okay to say unnecessary things! ! ! I thought, but if that happens, everyone will go to the end. As for me, I had no choice but to sit in a place with a transparent roof instead of entering the last standing room. At this time, I thought about getting rid of all the roofs, but I think some people don't want to get wet. I bring a lot of clothes to change when I travel, so it's totally OK to get wet. Well, it's in a cave, but when you enter a dark cave, the light enters and the seawater looks blue, which was very fantastic. There is a hole in the ceiling of the cave and light enters through it, but the blue of the sea was really beautiful. I don't think it's common to enter a dark cave by boat, but it was quite fun. At the end, you will receive a fan with a Tensodo cave and a ship printed on it (sunset on the back). Let's get those who couldn't go to the end. I'm not feeling well, but I think it will be a good memory. If you really want to be at the end of the line, we recommend lining up early.

it was pretty good!
I think it depends on where you sit, but we sat in the front row, so the roof is just right and the water splashes a little, so it's refreshing. The wind felt good. It was a lot of fun to see it from the sea.
If you think it's a blue cave, you'll be disappointed, so be careful. Because it's green, not blue.

I was wavering about whether to go on this or not, thinking it might just be a short ride through a dark cave and be over, but it was so much more than that. They give you a tour of the entire coast line, and I took some of the most beautiful scenery photos I've taken in Japan of the cliffs and tunnels. The tour information is all in Japanese, but even if you don't understand anything it is well worth the trip for the sights alone.
