This place is seriously cool and seriously underrated! Nobody on Santorini recommended this place or even mentioned it but I'm so glad we found it. Extremely large and impressive site of an ancient city. Can be extremely windy and no shelter from the sun.

The road up there is almost worth it on its own, but walking along ancient ruins atop a mountain, and experiencing how big the place once was, simply breathtaking. Tips for a good experience: - good shoes (some light hiking to get up there). - Clothes that can handle wind and sand (a lot of Marilyn Monroe moments up there) and some discoloration by sandblasting on some of our clothes. -Some water and/or face mask for comfort (sand gets in your throat and its hot)

Founded by Spartan colonists, Ancient Thera is a must-see archaeological site. It is a great example to understand the structure and functioning of ancient settlements built on a dominant hill. It is understood that due to the difficulty of transportation, not much research could be done and it was abandoned to its fate. This is a good thing up to a point, but the information signs are inadequate and some are damaged. Therefore, for a qualified visit, I recommend that you read about it beforehand or take a guide with you. It is a place that can be reached by walking, but it is not easy. If you are not used to difficult hikes, I recommend you think carefully before deciding. If you do not have a private vehicle, you can get there by shuttle from the tourism agencies in the center. They drop you off with the shuttle and give you enough time to tour. There is a wonderful view on the journey up the hill.

Worth going to see this ancient site while in Santorini. It's bigger than expected, very high up and it's so windy up there so hold on to your belongings. We took a minibus up but some people walked up or went by car, moped or quad. It doesn't take long to get around the Ancient City about 1.5hrs is plenty of time

We really liked the views from the top. The multiple switchbacks to drive to the top were thrilling for the kids. The ruins themselves were definitely a glimpse into the far history of this region. I wanted to hike to the monastery at the top of Mount Ilyas, which is about 1.9 km from the parking lot, but ran out of sunlight. This place is a must for history buffs and anyone who enjoys a bit of hiking. Drive up to the entrance and then hike to the monastery 🙂

Well worth the entrance fee for many reasons! You first get to see a very enchanting view of the sea, as well as the island. It is very beautiful and captivating! Worth visiting just for the visual feast even if you do not like history. It was beautiful despite the overcast clouds on the day I visited. Secondly, you also witness the historical preserves of the Ancient City of Thera, with ruins and explanations along the way. Truly a gem in Santorini! Parking may be a bit tricky. Although there are free parking near the entrance, there isn’t much parking slots available. Note that there’s a short climb to the top, so it may not be for those who require wheelchair access or have trouble climbing

I went here on my first day in Santorini - it was quiet as I went early and also the weather was a lil windy and wet so put people off. Recommend - lovely views and some amazing history. I drove up the road to the top - that's an experience in itself! Hairpin bends and that view - amazing.

Go see Ancient Thira! There is a lot of walking involved but all so worth it to see the amazing history that is here. Spent quite some time here marveling at the ruins. The precise cuts on the stone and marble is fascinating. Some ancient Greek written on some areas. If you are here don't miss this piece of history. I recommend driving as it would be a long walk up from either side. So much beauty here and a great view of the island from the top.

The experience viewing such a well preserved ancient city was incredible and unique. With a little fantasising you can imagine how the place would like back then. The tickets are cheap. You can go by foot or vehicle easily. I recommend vehicle because the ground elevation. The view is insanely beautiful. If you have kids you need to have them by close and don’t let them go to the cliff side fuse it’s too high.

I came to Gaia wines to host a private pre-wedding event for friends and family. Not being on the island I communicated with Anastasia over email and received detailed and timely responses. The event was an absolute success and the venue was gorgeous (as were the wines). We were served Greek salads and cheese spreads along with a tasting of 4 of their wines - every single wine was delicious, it’s hard to choose a favourite. We chose the Assyrtiko wild fermented, 4-6 hr rose, the Agiorgitiko, and their famous Vinsanto. The location is stunning - while there is no sunset you can truly enjoy the sunset colours with a beautiful sea backdrop as this is right in the water. Excellent service from the staff, and special shout out to Anastasia who was there to help before and during the event. Truly a hidden gem in Santorini, I strongly recommend you check them out if you’re looking to avoid the overly touristy wineries, you won’t be disappointed. It's a quaint place and it's just located off the beach. The wine tasting was a great experience coupled with the assorted cheese options. Lovely place by the sea, with lovely and kind people that are willing to introduce you in the wine world . We had the BEST wine tasting experience! The highlight was Anastasia and Sofia, both with deep knowledge in the wine sector and eager to explain every little detail about the wines. Definitely one should try the vinsanto of the winery, if not the best, for sure in the top 3 of Santorini.

And 3 stars is generous. 14 Euro pp for a wine tasting of 4 wines. Atmosphere is ok being next to the ocean but the place is quite run-down. The dogs running around didn't annoy me.. The staff were friendly. The wine was good... For the amount you pay for the tasting, and the fillings you receive.. There are many other better wineries on the island to visit.

Fantastic wine tasting experience today. Such a wonderful setting. Very relaxed but better still such friendly staff who introduce you to their wines so brilliantly. We have wine tasted in many places but this was one of the best. Also so pretty and - sometimes hard to do in Santorini - away from the busyness of most other places in the island. Was recommended to come here from the Santorini Brewing Company and what a find, off the track, next to the runway but right on the beach. We just popped in and they were so happy to accommodate us. We had the 8 wine tasting course along with the cheese, it was beautiful, looking out over the sea, tasting some lovely wines and cheeses. Highly recommended

They have a big collection of local artists’ works. I bought this unique silver ring at their shop with a reasonable price. The staff is very nice and friendly. Would highly recommend visiting and checking out the beautiful wooden sculptures handmade by Eduart.

The worst experience ever. The girl is very polite when she think I will buy all the shop, when I didn't like really anything when I tried, she told me "you're not allowed to try more clothes". Hopefully, I could buy same stuff in the shop of the corner. After, I asked in the place that I was sleeping in Kamaris where they know her, and they told me "She is always trying to do same things, treat the tourist as stupids ". Good face before, if you don't buy, bad faces. Im travelling 14 years in a row, and i never see in my life this behaviour.
